Transcript
- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10So now we have to carefully torture ourselves twice.
- 0:14What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:16That podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and
- 0:19the absurd in all of our favorite.
- 0:20And least favorite scary movies because we believe every horror
- 0:23movie rightfully has its fan base even.
- 0:25If we don't always get. It my name is Travis.
- 0:27My name is Jesse and welcome to my birthday week.
- 0:30Yay. Kind of.
- 0:32My birthday is on Sunday so we decided to do my birthday movie
- 0:37this week. We are talking Vile and I am so
- 0:42excited because we've been wanting to talk about this one
- 0:44for a while. Yeah, cutting deep to this week
- 0:47too. Yes for sure.
- 0:48Don't see a lot of people talk about this too often.
- 0:50No, we don't. And I'm just going to go ahead
- 0:53and say now just based off of some of our regular listener
- 0:57responses, if you haven't watched this yet, go ahead and
- 1:00watch it before we get into spoiler territory because as you
- 1:03all know, we will immediately. I mean, it's not like, like huge
- 1:07ground breaking spoilers, but, you know, it's still enough that
- 1:10it's fun to go in for the ride. Yeah, originally.
- 1:12So I was actually gonna do a different opening quote, and I
- 1:15joked around with Travis about it.
- 1:16But then I saw some people be like, I had to watch this one
- 1:19and I want you to go watch it and then listen to this.
- 1:22Yeah, it's, I mean, not a lot of story, yeah, there.
- 1:25But you know, like if you want to go in fresh, definitely watch
- 1:29that first. Yeah, it's, it's 88 minutes.
- 1:32It's on free streaming services, which we'll get all of that.
- 1:35Yeah. We'll, we'll get into all of
- 1:36that here shortly. But before that, I don't have
- 1:39any announcements, OK. But I would like to hear some
- 1:44poll results. Yeah, so last week we discussed
- 1:48Wrong Turn 5, which has Doug Bradley starring in it.
- 1:53You know him as Pinhead. We knew him as Maynard in that.
- 1:57Movie. Yeah, Maynard Odets.
- 1:59So we just wanted to know which other horror movie franchise
- 2:03would you like to see Doug Bradley jammed into next?
- 2:05What are you blackmailing him into doing?
- 2:08It's still technically ongoing, got 4 hours remaining, but as it
- 2:12stands now, this will probably likely stand.
- 2:17Yeah, a 14% for final destination.
- 2:19OK, 7% Sharknado, 50% Scream, 29% saw.
- 2:28OK, so and we talked about this and we wanted to do ones that he
- 2:31couldn't just be quiet behind a mask.
- 2:33We. Yeah, you got to have him front
- 2:34and center. He's got to act in, preferably
- 2:37in an accent other than English. Yes I honestly I if what he does
- 2:44in wrong turn 5 is any indication of how he will act it
- 2:46would be terrible but I can't get over the trolley idea in my
- 2:50head of him being in Sharknado. I mean, he he would fit in and
- 2:55really, but the the one thing about it and we talked about
- 2:58this last episode is he would need to turn in a silly
- 3:02performance, which I'm not sure he's capable of because it
- 3:06seemed like wrong turn 5 was calling for silliness, but he
- 3:10was delivering everything straight.
- 3:12He was not a goose. He was not a goose.
- 3:14Personally, I would like to see him in the Saw franchise.
- 3:20OK. Do you want him as like a new
- 3:24protege or just like maybe an opening kill?
- 3:27He's part of the game, OK? He's part of the ongoing game.
- 3:30OK, he's part of the main storyline.
- 3:31He may end up being a protege down the line, a plan, but we
- 3:36don't know. He could be the Larry Gordon of
- 3:40that movie. I'm I don't know why because he
- 3:45doesn't survive but I'm getting Jeff vibes.
- 3:48From him, if he did a Jeff thing, if he plays Jeff's dad,
- 3:54then yeah. My God, now he's the mad sad
- 3:57dad. Yeah, and he moves even slower.
- 4:00Preferably named Ricky, I just feel like he would fit in as a
- 4:04Ricky in the Saw universe. Yeah, especially with him trying
- 4:07to force a non-english accent. Yeah, OK.
- 4:10Yeah, there we go. I feel it.
- 4:12OK, cool. All right, so that was their
- 4:14poll. OK, so now let's get into vile.
- 4:16OK so Vile premiered at the film for Fright Fest on August 26th,
- 4:212011, but it's wide US release was on July 24th 2012.
- 4:26OK we watched it on DVD and I'll talk about that in a second.
- 4:31Why I picked this for my birthday movie but.
- 4:34Yeah, you got to give an explanation.
- 4:35I will when we get to right before we start our goodbye to
- 4:38ugly and I'm sorry, I'll discuss it some more.
- 4:41This is available in the US as of today on Two Beat Plex,
- 4:45Crackle and Prime Premium. Or you can rent it from Fandango
- 4:48at home so it is a watchable movie.
- 4:50It is free. I don't know if any revenue
- 4:52stream go to anyone anywhere for this.
- 4:54It's got to someone, well, Vile Productions.
- 4:58They're whole, They have a whole studio.
- 5:02And I'll talk about that in a second too also.
- 5:04Tony 2. Tony 2 Productions.
- 5:06No, it's Tony 7. Tony 7.
- 5:09Excuse me? Yeah, remember you made the
- 5:11joke, Tony 4/7. Yes, you better.
- 5:16No, I said 27 Tony 7, not 27 Tony 7.
- 5:20You, you punched it up way better.
- 5:22Tony 4/7. I swear last night I heard you
- 5:25say Tony 4/7. I you know, I'm glad that
- 5:28sometimes whenever I make a bad joke, you fill in the blanks to
- 5:30make it better. I appreciate that.
- 5:34OK, Written by Eric J Beck and Rob Rob Kasalik, directed by
- 5:41Taylor Sheridan, supposedly in his directorial debut.
- 5:44More information on that in a moment.
- 5:48Taylor Sheridan, if you're not familiar with name, is kind of a
- 5:51heavy hitter in made for streaming television.
- 5:54You might know him as the creator of Yellowstone, the
- 5:57Lioness, mayor of Kingstown, and he acted on several seasons of
- 6:01Sons of Anarchy. He is a known quantity.
- 6:04He also wrote Sicario, which is a huge movie.
- 6:08He's I think he's an Oscar winning screenwriter.
- 6:11Yes, he is. He has got and the snippet I
- 6:14gave was just a small snippet, but he is well known, well
- 6:19established. OK, so music, we don't have
- 6:22original compositions, but I did go ahead and get the music
- 6:24supervisor because she found this song, she paid the rights
- 6:28for it and she used it hard. And Edgar Nucci.
- 6:34Yeah, OK. And special effects makeup by
- 6:37Galaxy Galaxy San Juan. OK, so starring Eric J Beck as
- 6:44Nick, and that is J as in Jay. Is that the writer?
- 6:47Yes. OK.
- 6:48And I'm only specifying that because in the credits you see
- 6:50him listed as Eric E like initial E Beck.
- 6:54But currently on IMDb he is Eric JJAY Beck.
- 6:57OK, so Eric J Beck as Nick, April Mattson as Taylor, Akeem
- 7:03Smith as Tony, Greg Sipes as Sam, Maya Hazen as Tara, Alicia
- 7:09Skorman as Kai, Heidi Mueller as Lisa, McKenzie Westmore as
- 7:14Diane, Ian Bowen as Julian, Rob Kirkland as Greg, and Maria
- 7:18Olsen as the woman on the TV. And can we get in front of this
- 7:22and let people know that Greg, what's his name?
- 7:25Greg Sipes. It's either Sipes or Kipes.
- 7:27I meant to look up if that was a harder soft sea and I forgot to
- 7:31until I was reading his name out loud and I went with my gut,
- 7:33which was a soft sea. So he is the voice actor of
- 7:37Beast Boy on Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go, Yes, So yeah.
- 7:42And he's also in Fast and Furious.
- 7:44Yes, the 4th 1/4. Yeah, I was trying to do that
- 7:47thing. Furious, I know, but for people
- 7:49that haven't been around for our particular argument in our
- 7:52household of name versus name with the in it that has been
- 7:56ongoing for various franchises the past few days.
- 7:59And for anybody who has not watched anything with him as a
- 8:03live action performer, he that's just his normal voice.
- 8:05Yeah, he sounds exactly like Beast Boy in this movie too.
- 8:08So. Yeah, it's and we don't call him
- 8:10Beast Boy just because we know those Beast Boys actors, because
- 8:13you hear Beast Boy. Whenever I mean dogs, there was
- 8:15like a voice of my childhood, so I thought it was really cool
- 8:18seeing him in the. OK, Travis.
- 8:20OK, it's time for our favorite game.
- 8:22Budget or bug? Ted, this is so obviously a bug
- 8:28Ted movie. OK, believe it or not, it is bug
- 8:33Ted, you're. Correct.
- 8:34I was going to say, you can't tell me this is budget.
- 8:37I have a very, very rough hearsay budget estimate, OK.
- 8:44And again, and we'll get to that momentarily of 20,000.
- 8:48Wow. OK, wow.
- 8:49Yeah, that makes sense. I had no opening box office
- 8:52information because it was released, just streaming.
- 8:55No worldwide gross information. Does have an IMDb score of 4.8.
- 9:00OK, 4.8 Really. That's suit.
- 9:03That's surprising. I this seems like very much a
- 9:08love it or hate it movie for people.
- 9:11I guess. Very few people are in the
- 9:12middle on it. Really, it's surprising.
- 9:16I pulled three other movies from 2011 and the theme is movies
- 9:24that Jesse dug up from the dregs of streaming services and or
- 9:29rental stores and foisted upon her loved ones.
- 9:32Hey, OK. Well, then I can verify some of
- 9:36these, I'm sure. All right, I'll share it.
- 9:39So the first one I know for sure, you and I have watched
- 9:41this together. Actually, we watch all three of
- 9:43these together. OK, Rites of Spring.
- 9:48Man, yeah, that God remind me again.
- 9:51Like a fever dream. So like these, I'm pretty sure
- 9:54it was something like this group of teens.
- 9:56They get lost, their car breaks down, whatever.
- 9:59They're on a farm. Somebody has to sacrifice them
- 10:02for the spring. Yeah.
- 10:05God, we watched that so long ago.
- 10:07Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That released October 22nd,
- 10:112011. Don't have a budget or a gross.
- 10:15It does have a 4.5 out of 10 on IMDBI.
- 10:17Don't remember much about the movie but I'm feeling like it's
- 10:20a pretty high score. Yeah, I don't.
- 10:24That's one that I haven't cared to ever revisit.
- 10:26No, no, me too. Yeah, it was.
- 10:29You know, you get misses. These next two have revisited
- 10:34and in fact we have talked about one of them on the show OK
- 10:38Hostel Part 3. Oh boy.
- 10:41Yep, Yep, Yep, we did talk about that.
- 10:43That released December 21st 2011 had a budget of 6,000,000.
- 10:48No gross because again, straight to DVDs, live streaming and as a
- 10:524.6 out of 10 on IMDb. Wow man, so these are all just
- 10:56like whoa rated movies. Does that track for the last one
- 11:00too? Yep, in fact Vile is the highest
- 11:03rated. Really.
- 11:05Oh wow. OK, let's hear it.
- 11:08They're the last one. So we own Hostel Part 3.
- 11:10We also own this one. OK, the task.
- 11:14God, yeah. Featuring Texas Battle.
- 11:16Yeah, my God, that's one of those.
- 11:19Is it IFC original and? It's the.
- 11:23After dark, midnight, after midnight.
- 11:25Is the after dark like 8 movies to die for?
- 11:29Yeah, that's it. Yep.
- 11:30Yeah, yeah. It's like about a guy in the
- 11:32they're doing a reality show in an abandoned.
- 11:35Yeah, it's kind of a RIP off of Halloween.
- 11:39Doom Asylum. Doom Asylum and Halloween.
- 11:42Resurrection. Resurrection.
- 11:43Yeah, Yeah. It's like you, Nash those two.
- 11:45Movies. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:47And it was part it was part of the we did a weekend where we
- 11:49did a Texas Battle Marathon because we watched that wrong
- 11:53Turn 2 and Final Destination 3. Didn't we do that accidentally
- 11:57too? It was the first two were in
- 11:59accident and then we put in the task and he was there too and
- 12:03we're like. Man, yeah, good finds.
- 12:08These are definitely Jesse pics right here that we found.
- 12:12Didn't we watch file from like Hastings rental back in college?
- 12:17I'm gonna get to the origin of our file DVD shortly.
- 12:21OK? Cuz it's part of the reason why
- 12:23I picked the movie. OK that the task released July
- 12:2814th 2011. No budget.
- 12:30Supposedly a worldwide gross of 1.6000.
- 12:33I'm assuming DVD sales. Gotta be.
- 12:35Yeah, and a 4.2 out of 10 on IMDb.
- 12:39Yeah, it's not a great movie. No, it's kind of an unsatisfying
- 12:43ending, Those After Dark movies, like sometimes they really hit
- 12:47hard and sometimes they're just like.
- 12:49Yeah, they can be OK. Yeah.
- 12:51So it's, it's always a gamble with them.
- 12:53It's usually what I'm willing to take.
- 12:54Yes, same. I have one tagline.
- 12:57OK. I think it's a solid 1 though,
- 13:00but I'd like to hear your opinion.
- 13:02Give till it hurts. That's pretty good, yeah.
- 13:05Give till it hurts. Yeah, that's solid.
- 13:08I think it works for the movie. I mean, it's it is the premise
- 13:11of the movie. Yeah.
- 13:12You give until it hurts. OK, so I've got a quote from
- 13:16Taylor Sheridan which explains how I have the estimate and what
- 13:22I mean about whether or not this is his directorial debut.
- 13:26I would say this referring to Wind River, is my future debut.
- 13:30A friend of mine raised, I don't know what, he raised 20 grand or
- 13:32something and cast his buddies and wrote this bad horror movie
- 13:37that I told him not to direct. He was going to direct it and
- 13:40produce it and he started and freaked out and called and said
- 13:42can you help me? I said yeah, I'll try.
- 13:45I kind of kept the shit pointed straight and they went off and
- 13:47edited and I did and did what they did.
- 13:50I think it's generous to call me the director.
- 13:52I think he was trying to say thank you in some way.
- 13:55It was an excellent opportunity to point a camera and learn some
- 13:57lessons that actually benefited me on Wind River.
- 14:00Wow, he's kind of shit talking. This thing isn't.
- 14:02He. Yeah, he's.
- 14:03Like he wrote a bad. He's talking about his friend
- 14:06here. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:07So my friend like he shitty movie man.
- 14:11Can you imagine a friend reading?
- 14:13Well, and here's the thing cuz I'm gonna get to the rest of
- 14:17these fun facts. It's very little information.
- 14:20There is almost nothing on the Internet about this.
- 14:23It's like Taylor Sheridan used his connections in Hollywood to
- 14:27scrub the Internet clean. Cuz I'm gonna tell you what I
- 14:31have from the DVD. I tried to look up interviews.
- 14:35All I could find interview wise was that singular quote that was
- 14:39used on different websites. I tried to look up interviews
- 14:42from different actors from the writer, like nothing.
- 14:46And you mentioned Vile Entertainment LLC, one of the
- 14:49production companies listed. As far as I can tell, it is
- 14:52solely associated with this movie.
- 14:53Yeah, it doesn't come up on a Google search.
- 14:55It may, I mean when I saw that they made it for the movie.
- 14:58Yes, and I've never seen it ever again.
- 15:00Yeah, nothing will come up on a Google search other than this
- 15:04movie. Like it probably isn't even an
- 15:06actual production company, they probably just slap the logo.
- 15:09Yeah, I don't if it was ever like legit, I don't think it's
- 15:13like trademark or whatever is still active anymore.
- 15:16Yeah, 'cause you see a bunch of other like Vile Productions and
- 15:20Vile Studios and stuff like that, 'cause it's a pretty easy
- 15:23name to use for horror. But you don't see Vile
- 15:27Entertainment LLC. I've got a question.
- 15:29So have you looked at any of the IMDb profiles of any of the
- 15:35actors in this? Looked at a few of them.
- 15:38Have they had careers? Did they have careers
- 15:41beforehand? I didn't look like super far
- 15:44back. Eric Beck did do some additional
- 15:47work with Taylor Sheridan outside of this.
- 15:50He's the guy that he was shit talking, right?
- 15:53Pretty much, yeah. Yeah, I mean, I think they're
- 15:55still friends. Obviously we know Greg Sipes is.
- 16:00That's because that's my point. They like for it to be such a
- 16:03low budget thing, and I think that sounds like it was just
- 16:06friends involved. Got Beast Boy, Yeah.
- 16:09How did that happen? Yeah, I think that they actually
- 16:11got a a big decent amount of casts like cuz they, they're,
- 16:17they all have more than just this on their profiles.
- 16:20OK, cuz I mean like Taylor Sheridan, that's his name,
- 16:24right? Yeah, he wasn't a name at that
- 16:26point in yeah, his career. I mean, he hadn't written any of
- 16:29those big movies yet, so. He hadn't written any of the big
- 16:31movies yet. I think I was sense of anarchy
- 16:34already going. I think it might have been.
- 16:37I don't know when that came out. You know what?
- 16:39Maybe he did have that go on. He wasn't a nobody, but he
- 16:43hadn't done like he hadn't directed yet.
- 16:46OK, I guess he could have had connections.
- 16:47Yeah, it's weird that he would have had a connection with Beast
- 16:49Boy, but you know, where do I know?
- 16:52Well, and I, it's funny cuz when I was reading like interviews,
- 16:54just trying to find literally anything about this movie, he,
- 16:58he's, he's got a very interesting approach when he
- 17:01does auditions with actors, cuz he says all the time he get
- 17:04actors that will be like, I can't believe you chose me for
- 17:06this because that was a terrible audition.
- 17:08And he'd be like, yeah, it was, but I saw what I needed to see.
- 17:10So I think he just might be a very blunt kind of guy.
- 17:14Wow. You know, but I mean, that's
- 17:16kind of good. Yeah, like he sees, he sees the
- 17:19potential. Yeah.
- 17:20Which makes it interesting that he did this movie.
- 17:23He admits it. It was bad, but he you know.
- 17:26Yeah, usually when you start this like at the start of your
- 17:29career and you're not really pumping out, yeah, great a shit.
- 17:33So he says it was a good learning opportunity at any
- 17:35rate. Yeah, OK.
- 17:37I've got 2 deleted scenes that we're gonna discuss that aren't
- 17:39in the movie. So the first one is Greg and
- 17:42Julie and they're two of the people that we will meet in the
- 17:45house along the way. But we see them going to a club
- 17:49and selling three of these pills to the club owner and.
- 17:53I believe those are the pills that were manufactured in the
- 17:57opening, right? Yes.
- 17:58OK, Yeah. That is the implication.
- 17:59They are the pills from this drug company and he charges just
- 18:03the guy, 12 per, I'm assuming 1200 per pill.
- 18:07And the guy seems shocked. He said, oh, you raised the
- 18:09prices and Greg's like, yeah, you got a problem with it.
- 18:13And, you know, after he, they make the deal, they walk away
- 18:16and Julian's like, did you get that approved?
- 18:18And he goes, who cares? Like this is, you know, yeah,
- 18:21he's like. What the fuck did you do that
- 18:22for? Yeah, so, and that's supposed to
- 18:24be the implication of why they both wound up in the house,
- 18:27because they were skimming off the top and stealing from the
- 18:29company. Yeah, second deleted scene was
- 18:33just Greg. When he's waking up, he wakes up
- 18:35screaming. This house is going to be sound
- 18:37fucking proofed because he screams so loud in her face.
- 18:42It was so funny because I think it genuinely caught Lisa's actor
- 18:46off. Yeah, he's like leaning into his
- 18:48face like Greg, are you OK? He's like God and.
- 18:52He goes, my legs are my legs. And she goes, yeah.
- 18:54And he goes, I'm going to die. And she goes, no, you're not
- 18:57going to die. Tell me about your son.
- 18:58He goes, you don't know anything, you're a child.
- 18:59And she goes, I'm 25. And so they kind of bicker about
- 19:03that. And she, we find out she wound
- 19:05up there because she finally got the courage to try and go out
- 19:08and meet some people. And she met a guy at a bar.
- 19:10I wonder if it was the club where they sell the pills
- 19:13honestly. Oh, probably.
- 19:15And, you know, she just wound up there.
- 19:17So we we see that it's not all the same person like there's
- 19:20multiple people doing. That, yeah, that I thought that
- 19:22that was interesting. That was a good little bit of
- 19:24war and I I like having that extra scene with Greg and Julian
- 19:30because that was also interesting to have context
- 19:33because we are kind of thrust into this without knowing
- 19:36exactly what their deal is. Yeah.
- 19:38And Greg, he's got a nine year old son that he's got like
- 19:42weekend visitation of. Yeah.
- 19:44So that kind of possibly explains his like bucket
- 19:49attitude towards the drug dealing.
- 19:51Yeah. OK.
- 19:52There's one other bonus feature on this DVD that is it's like
- 19:57director Taylor Sheridan mopping of the aftermath of Vile.
- 20:03And, you know, you think that's a cute little quippy like
- 20:08explanation for him explaining how they went about and shot the
- 20:11film. No, it's literally like 60
- 20:13seconds of him mopping up the kitchen after they made a mess
- 20:16and he's got his earbuds in and he's whistling and singing.
- 20:19You know, honestly, that's what I expected.
- 20:22I expected to see like I because we got that with Terrifier 3.
- 20:26We got to see the Queen up and like, you know what we're
- 20:28probably going to see? See some clean up and you know.
- 20:30And then he goes the bedroom better not be as fucking dirty
- 20:34as this one or something like something that.
- 20:36Affects Wow. OK.
- 20:37So yeah, had nothing. Nothing.
- 20:39I tried really hard to find some information about this SO.
- 20:43That's funny, you know, you get what you can get.
- 20:47Get what you can get. I really think that he's trying
- 20:50to remove himself from this as much as possible.
- 20:53Oh, and it you've already accomplished yourself, man, just
- 20:55admit. OK OK, so I picked this movie
- 20:59for my birthday movie. This wound its way up to us
- 21:02because my mom, the Blockbuster in my hometown, was closing and
- 21:07she got me a bunch of DVDs that they were just like selling as a
- 21:11Christmas gift one year. And this is one of.
- 21:14Them. Oh yeah, that's what happened.
- 21:16Had never heard of it, but we all watched it.
- 21:18My family, like all immediately really enjoyed it and it's
- 21:21become one that like we'll just like if we're in the mood for a
- 21:24saw but don't want to watch a particular saw, we'll kind of
- 21:26put this one on. Yeah.
- 21:28And I picked it because I think it's just I mean, I've discussed
- 21:31before in my opinion on torture porn.
- 21:34I don't necessarily like that the sub genre is called that.
- 21:37And I like the move towards referring to it as a splatter
- 21:40gore instead, because it isn't really romanticizing it or
- 21:47glorifying it in any way. And I really feel like this
- 21:50movie is kind of trying to take the opposite approach and be
- 21:53like, this isn't meant to be fun.
- 21:55We're all supposed to feel gross and bad about it.
- 21:57And yeah, it is leaning into the popularity of Saul.
- 22:00But if you're trying to get started in movie making, why
- 22:03wouldn't you work with a popular formula?
- 22:05I mean, that's what a lot of people do, yeah.
- 22:07Yeah, so that's why I picked this movie.
- 22:10That's why we have it on DVD. That's why I've got the very
- 22:12little information that's available about this movie out
- 22:15in the world. I can almost guarantee you
- 22:17though, one night if you hadn't have gotten this, we would have
- 22:21been like walking through Toby or something.
- 22:23You would have come across this and you would have.
- 22:25This would have maybe been a. Toby or not Toby, and it would
- 22:28have been a Toby. Like said, I absolutely will
- 22:30watch this again if I ever find it on DVD at Half Price Books.
- 22:33I won't own it. Like it's for sure one of those
- 22:35movies. So that being said, Travis,
- 22:38we're gonna go into good, bad, ugly, absurd.
- 22:40OK, you kick it off this week. All right, so I feel like this
- 22:46movie, it, it does a good job at I think accomplishing what it's
- 22:52trying to do. I think it's trying to make you
- 22:54squirm with the shit that goes down here.
- 22:57It's really trying to make you feel uncomfortable with what
- 23:01they are performing. Like it gets right to the point
- 23:05with straight up action. There's not a lot of plot in
- 23:09this movie, which I personally I like every now and then.
- 23:12I don't have to have, you know, every now and then, since I have
- 23:15a movie where it's just like. No film, no fuss.
- 23:17Yeah, it was like, you know the premise, you look at the cover
- 23:21and then you get the movie that is delivering everything that is
- 23:25pretty much saying it's going to be about.
- 23:28So they do that. They don't bog it down with
- 23:31unnecessary story. It just knows exactly what it is
- 23:34and it plays that game and I respect that.
- 23:38I feel like even if this is a really low budget production, I
- 23:43feel like they did a pretty decent little job here.
- 23:45Yeah. I mean, they have some technical
- 23:48imitations that I'll talk about here in a minute.
- 23:50But honestly, I thought that they put together like a nice
- 23:54little movie here. Like it flows well.
- 23:57It's short. It's to the point it just like,
- 24:01I don't know, it's a fun movie watching experience if that's if
- 24:04you like the splatter gore genre.
- 24:06Yeah, I think if that's a thing that you enjoy, you can watch
- 24:09this movie and have a good time. And I'm a fan of that genre.
- 24:12So that's pretty much it for my good.
- 24:16OK, my good is, yeah, I think it it doesn't take any more time
- 24:19than it needs to on the story. And honestly, I think at the
- 24:21runtime we could have left, well, we don't necessarily need
- 24:26that scene with Lisa and Greg. No, I'm OK with that being cut.
- 24:30I like the scene with Greg and Julian, but how do you work that
- 24:34into the rest of the story narratively?
- 24:37So I kind of understand why that was cut too.
- 24:39I mean, you could do, I mean they, they just, it seems like
- 24:42they made a decision to keep it exclusively, like we are
- 24:45following this group of people. If you would have kept that
- 24:48scene in there, then it would have been about all of the
- 24:50groups. Yes.
- 24:51Then we would have needed to also introduce how the other
- 24:53people wound up. Yeah.
- 24:54And how Tara knew. Or how Tara knows Greg, which it
- 24:58implies that maybe he has sold to her or his.
- 25:01Yeah. At the club or something?
- 25:03Yeah, which I guess they may have had some of this stuff
- 25:07planned out themselves, but it doesn't really come through in
- 25:10any of the script other than like a few moments.
- 25:13But I don't mind that ambiguity because we're like, because they
- 25:17did make that choice to follow along with these, this group of
- 25:19four. Yeah, we're in the same spot as
- 25:21them. I like that too, I feel like
- 25:24they made the right call doing that because I think it makes it
- 25:28a really interesting deleted scene to see after the fact.
- 25:31Yes, seeing that scene after the movie is cool.
- 25:34Yes, I I like the chemistry with the with that main 4 friend
- 25:38group. Like you can tell that they've
- 25:41all been friends for a while. They're little cuddle puddle at
- 25:43the beginning. Puddle, puddle.
- 25:45Yeah. That's a good tariff for.
- 25:48That like, you know, we get, we get the good babe moment with
- 25:52Kai and Taylor very House of Wax where she's encouraging her to
- 25:57tell her boyfriend about the pregnancy.
- 26:01Yeah, we, we got that. We honestly, for a movie that's
- 26:05all about like torturing people, we don't see a ton of gore.
- 26:09No, I feel like that had to have been a budget limitation.
- 26:12But I think it honestly works out well because I think of this
- 26:15movie, I think of it as being really bloody and gory.
- 26:18But I was watching it with a very careful eye last night and
- 26:21I was like, wow, they really don't show a ton of what's going
- 26:24on. And they don't show a ton of the
- 26:26aftermath either, other than people being a little bit
- 26:28traumatized and blood smeared. Yeah, and the few incidents
- 26:31where you do see some of the action on screen, they sell it
- 26:34well. Yeah, so I, I just, I think
- 26:37overall it tells an effective little story.
- 26:40And like I said, I like that it kind of subverts the like, we're
- 26:43going to like really ham up the gore of this because it really
- 26:48does not. You know, it's kind of like one
- 26:51of our friends said that they can't stop thinking about the
- 26:55gore in Texas Chainsaw. And I looked at her and I was
- 26:57like there is none. A little bit.
- 27:01There's like, there's a little bit, but it's not a big gory,
- 27:03bloody movie. A lot of it is left off screen
- 27:05to the imagination. And I think it's just, it's one
- 27:08of those things that like, you've got a small budget and
- 27:10you work with it, but if you do it effectively, the audience's
- 27:13mind fills in the gaps in a way that they don't realize that
- 27:16they're doing themselves. Yeah, if you do it well, yeah,
- 27:20you can. You can do that.
- 27:22You can get away with not showing it.
- 27:24Yeah. So I think those are that's the
- 27:26gist of my goods. And I think, I think every
- 27:28performance, honestly, is really solid, too.
- 27:32Boy, are we gonna disagree. Well, you know they do OK.
- 27:37OK. I think mostly I don't think the
- 27:44Nick character has acted great and I he's not bad, but you
- 27:53know, he's a writer, you know, like I, I don't think that that
- 27:55guy sat out with acting aspirations or anything like
- 27:58that. He was doing it because he was
- 28:00needed to do it. But no, I mean, like, I'll
- 28:04mostly agree with you. Everybody seems to do pretty
- 28:06well. OK.
- 28:07But yeah, not it's not good. I wouldn't say.
- 28:12I mean, it's a better caliber of acting than you typically see in
- 28:15these really low budget movies. I'll give you that.
- 28:17Yeah. OK.
- 28:18OK, so the bad, yes, they do suffer some technical
- 28:22limitations. I think the audio is the biggest
- 28:25thing that suffers. Yeah.
- 28:27And audio is super important for movies, people.
- 28:31I feel like people underestimate how important audio is.
- 28:35Tara's actress blows out the speakers every time she screams.
- 28:39Yeah, but there's also some inconsistency with how some
- 28:42people are miked. Lisa, she has a good mix on her
- 28:47stuff. There were a few times where I
- 28:49thought maybe she did some ADR, yeah.
- 28:51But for the most part, she, like I can hear her very clearly any
- 28:56time that they're just yelling or anything like that.
- 29:00Like it's blowing out every single time.
- 29:02Greg is almost impossible to hear.
- 29:04Yeah, this. Is a really difficult movie.
- 29:06There were no subtitles on the DVD.
- 29:08Nope. So, and I don't know if that's
- 29:10true on the streaming services. I can only imagine that it's got
- 29:13to be because they get that from the production, like from
- 29:17whoever provides the copy they that's with it.
- 29:20So. Yeah.
- 29:21So it's Greg's lines, very hard to pick up.
- 29:25Yeah. So yeah, that's one of the
- 29:28things. I also feel like they did try to
- 29:31have a few moments here and there of having like some
- 29:34substance, but I feel like it mostly fells.
- 29:37I feel like this movie needed to kind of stick to just being
- 29:40straightforward. Like the one that I really think
- 29:42of the most is that moment with Nick and Sam.
- 29:48These boys actor. Yeah, they like when he walks
- 29:51away and he goes to that to the bedroom to just chill out after
- 29:55being tortured and like Nico was in there and he's like trying to
- 29:57have like some kind of talk to connect to him or something like
- 29:59that. Felt pointless and there was no
- 30:04reason for it. I didn't understand what it was
- 30:07like. Was it to give us a break as
- 30:09viewers from the torture? That way it's not wall to wall
- 30:12torture. If you're going to do that, fill
- 30:15it with something with a little bit, like if you're going to try
- 30:17and have like filler there, make it something filling.
- 30:22It was just kind of junk. It didn't really do anything at
- 30:25all and I was just left thinking, what's the point?
- 30:28What's happening? They're just not even even
- 30:31saying anything, OK? Other than that, I don't really
- 30:34have much else bad to say. OK.
- 30:37My bad. Yeah, No, I think we all know
- 30:41here on the show, I'm the queen of the suspension of disbelief.
- 30:45I like to just submerge myself in the story and accept the
- 30:48logic for what it is. Right?
- 30:49Yeah. And I get that in this.
- 30:51They were trying to get it to a point where people feel like
- 30:55they have to do this right. And honestly, we don't need to
- 31:00push this too far. This is just kind of an
- 31:02extension of, like, the Stanford prison experiment and the
- 31:06Milgram experiments, you know, where, like, an authority is
- 31:09telling you to do this thing. You feel like you have to do the
- 31:11thing. Especially in a situation where
- 31:13they all point out that they've been outsmarted and kidnapped
- 31:15and they don't feel like they can take these people on.
- 31:17Right, Right. So whatever.
- 31:20I get that. And I get the preferring torture
- 31:23to essentially rape angle that we take.
- 31:26Yeah. And I get that.
- 31:28They're saying that the house is boarded up tight, even with
- 31:31tools, the tubes that release the chemicals into the brain,
- 31:36that is like, their main thing that like is supposed to like,
- 31:40really keep them on edge like that.
- 31:44They have to do this and hopefully killed.
- 31:46Those tooths can be cut through. There's knives everywhere.
- 31:49Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.
- 31:51There's all kinds of tools to get that shit out.
- 31:52Like I that's, that's like my main, like I wish maybe we had
- 31:56seen it was like a little steel hose or something instead, like
- 31:59don't make it this little PVC pipe that you can.
- 32:03I really they tried to address that when Julian pulls his out
- 32:06and then kills him, but at the same time it's like don't pull
- 32:09it out then just cut the tube, that's all.
- 32:11You got to do just make, you know, like actors when they warm
- 32:15up and they're like do the massage train or whatever, like
- 32:17just everybody has a knife and we all go in one circle at one
- 32:20time and do it. So that way they can't try and
- 32:22randomly kill somebody. Is that a thing actors just do a
- 32:25massage train? I mean, I've done that on shows
- 32:28before. Yeah.
- 32:29I just. I feel like that was that.
- 32:31And also like the passage of time in this movie makes no
- 32:35goddamn sense. First of all, why 22 hours?
- 32:38I have to assume it has to do something with the viability of
- 32:41the chemicals and I. They they wanted to give them
- 32:47time, but they like the time. The clock moves fast in this
- 32:51movie. It moves fast until the end and
- 32:53then it moves slow. Yeah, like, I feel like they
- 32:57wanted to introduce that thing to give some tension, but then
- 33:01they kind of didn't really manage it well.
- 33:04Like, oh, here's 22 hours and then we cut down to like 3
- 33:08hours. It's like, OK, here we go.
- 33:09Now we're really going like, just make it an hour.
- 33:12Yeah. And.
- 33:13Then also 12 hours, 12 hours would have been believable for
- 33:15this press, like how pressed they are.
- 33:18Yeah. Also like your pain response
- 33:21doesn't stop after the immediate like hit, you know?
- 33:26It's like ongoing. Yeah, it just keeps going.
- 33:28They should have like the the percentage should have kept
- 33:31going up like 'cause even Taylor later, like she pours bleach on
- 33:35her like burned arm. That's just an extension of the
- 33:39injury. Like the movie's internal logic
- 33:42doesn't isn't consistent. Yeah, Yeah, there are a few
- 33:47times like that. And also why do they lose the
- 33:50stuff when a person dies? Like why can't that person's
- 33:53vile just be collected as well? Why does the percentage go back
- 33:56down to 0? That I I like it as a device in
- 34:01the movie, like a writing device that, you know, like it's cool.
- 34:05I appreciate it. But I guess, yeah, like if you
- 34:07think maybe it's just their own rules that they set for
- 34:10themselves, it's like. Yeah, maybe just like, you know,
- 34:14evil company bastards type of. Yeah, you know, like, you know,
- 34:18we'll still collect the shit. But you know what?
- 34:20I really want to, like, put the pressure on them.
- 34:22Yeah, Yeah. OK, ugly.
- 34:26Ugly. I just had everybody in this
- 34:30movie except for Nick and Tony suck.
- 34:32Yeah. Everybody is super willing to
- 34:34sell out Greg and that one moment where he got tortured
- 34:38hard and was incapacitated and well, it's just like fucking
- 34:42keep killing them. They.
- 34:43Don't stop Tara. Like they're aghast at her, but
- 34:48they don't stop her at any point.
- 34:50They're just like, and she's like, what?
- 34:52I thought we were torturing them like.
- 34:54Yeah, yeah. It's just like there's a lot of
- 34:58bad people in this year. I I respected Tony the most.
- 35:02Yes, I think yeah, Tony is probably my favorite character.
- 35:07It's just like Nope, all y'all know yeah, yeah, I think my ugly
- 35:15is you know that. So Big Pharma in general,
- 35:20there's a lot of commentary we could have about it that would
- 35:24probably be like a whole other podcast on its own, but.
- 35:27We've I feel like we've touched on a few times with some of the
- 35:30movies we've discussed. Yes, And you know, I just like
- 35:34if it came out that this was the thing that was actually
- 35:37happening, it would be disgusting.
- 35:39But also, would any of us be shocked?
- 35:42No, probably not, right? I'm so confused about the thing
- 35:45that's going on here. Are they using the pain from
- 35:49them to use that chemical to make pills?
- 35:52Yes. OK.
- 35:54Very powerful pills. Are they actually collecting
- 35:58like juices from the pain? Is that a real thing?
- 36:02I I don't. I don't think that this is how
- 36:06this works. Like you, you get a little bit
- 36:09of pain, like you leak a little. I don't understand.
- 36:13It is kind of confusing. It doesn't make any sense
- 36:15actually, if you start to think about it a little bit.
- 36:18Yeah, it. No, this is a movie you can't
- 36:20think about too hard because you stop enjoying it.
- 36:23Yeah, yeah. OK, absurd.
- 36:27Absurd. I have the the way that the vile
- 36:31theme, I'll just call it the vile theme, the way that it's
- 36:33used in this movie. I think about it sometimes.
- 36:38Anytime, any time. A monument.
- 36:42Happens. It's just like, and it's always
- 36:49slow motion, silence, everything like that.
- 36:51It's just like any anything, anything of importance happens.
- 36:56It's so funny. And you're like, this is all
- 36:58this song is, is these notes. And then at the end we get
- 37:01lyrics. Yeah, we got.
- 37:02Lyrics. I couldn't believe it whenever I
- 37:04heard somebody singing. It's so funny.
- 37:08It's just, oh man, it just made it.
- 37:11It kind of makes the movie a little bit and it's extremely
- 37:14hilarious for me. OK, my favorite.
- 37:17It's just a little moment, but I love it so much every time
- 37:21there's a point where Tony punches Tara.
- 37:24Yeah, and it knocks. Her out and she hits the floor
- 37:27and from the next room you just hear a little beep.
- 37:31Just a punch, you know, I, I think it would be really
- 37:35interesting to see like how like I, I would like to have, I would
- 37:39like to see them have fun where they'd be like, OK, how much?
- 37:42Well, I'm going to punch you with all my strength right here.
- 37:44I want to see how much my hardest punch will move the bar.
- 37:48I don't like the the statistician in me wants to like
- 37:51measure. You could have plot out how much
- 37:54percentage you get for different pains.
- 37:56You could have I. Want.
- 37:57To run. Yeah, like what's the like?
- 37:59What different variables affect your pain percentages like?
- 38:03This movie, if you wanted to take in another direction, could
- 38:06have been like Jackass, where it's like people just like
- 38:09hurting themselves and they're just having fun.
- 38:11You know what I mean? VR.
- 38:12Sequel, please just put the Jackass Boys on this house.
- 38:15They don't know it's the Jackass.
- 38:17They're just like, oh, OK. And they're like, oh, OK, here
- 38:19we go. Weird.
- 38:21Yeah, Aaron would be the Greg. Yes, Aaron would be the first
- 38:26one they'd tied out. Yeah, OK.
- 38:31All right, so let's rate it. I'll give it a 6/6.
- 38:37I'm gonna give it an 8. It's a kind of mental 8 but.
- 38:41It's a fun movie, I like it. I I am never mad whenever you
- 38:45say you want to put a vial on, but I am.
- 38:47Sometimes you do say it. Really.
- 38:49Sometimes I'm caught off guard. Every day you almost always
- 38:51agree though. Yeah, I mean, it's like, I like
- 38:54the movie. It's it's fun, but realistically
- 38:57speaking, it's a six. OK, I like Wrong Turn 5 and I
- 39:00wrote it, rated it a 5, so. Yeah.
- 39:02Yeah. All right.
- 39:04So that's 7. 7/7. Yeah.
- 39:10Can I tell everybody a quick story, please?
- 39:13Remember that my husband works with numbers for a living.
- 39:16Last night I was trying to remember because if you can
- 39:19hear, I sound a lot better, and that's because I'm on
- 39:21prescription drugs now. Oh, yeah.
- 39:23And I was trying to figure out when my next dosage need to be.
- 39:26So I said, what is 8 + 6? And Travis very confidently says
- 39:3024. I was like, really?
- 39:33Because I was just trying to get like a second opinion to make
- 39:36sure I did the math correctly. In my head he goes what, you
- 39:38don't believe me? And I was like, it just doesn't
- 39:40seem right. He was like, no, I'm positive
- 39:44it's 24 and I was like 8 and 6. I.
- 39:48Thought you said 18. OK.
- 39:52I was right in my way. So OK, thank you for reminding
- 39:58people. Yeah.
- 39:59We're not reminding, just telling.
- 40:00Yeah. OK.
- 40:01We're reminding people that I suck at math.
- 40:03Yeah. Now that you do it
- 40:04professionally, yeah, don't be ready to talk about the movie.
- 40:07Let's do this. OK, the root of violence is
- 40:11science without humanity. Mahatma Gandhi.
- 40:14Got to start it off with the Gandhi quote.
- 40:16Got to start, No other way to do.
- 40:18It, just like all of my tattoo artwork, started off with the
- 40:21Gandhi quote, Yeah. So yeah, we get that, and then
- 40:26we get a man strapped to a table and there's somebody.
- 40:30I wrote Gurney just because I don't think you get to use the
- 40:32word Gurney often in. Life.
- 40:34If you wanna throw around fancy terms like that, go.
- 40:37Ahead, I don't feel like Gurney is a fancy word.
- 40:40It's a big word, it. Sounds rusty to me.
- 40:42It's pretty big, yeah. Got somebody dressed like a
- 40:45nurse, too. Yeah.
- 40:46Not, I'm not. I didn't want to write a nurse
- 40:48because I didn't want to give them that credit.
- 40:50I don't want them to be a nurse. They're they're definitely doing
- 40:53this. Yes, I feel like this is like a
- 40:55hostile situation where she like put on the garb to like live out
- 41:00a sick fantasy. Yeah, I was wondering if that
- 41:03was the woman that kidnaps. Them.
- 41:06I don't think so. OK.
- 41:08She was like, and it was a it's a different actress, too.
- 41:10Oh, it is, yeah. OK.
- 41:12So there she's like, you know, performing what I refer to as
- 41:15non anesthetized surgery. Non anesthetized.
- 41:21Big words again. Anesthesia without that feeling
- 41:28you feel. OK, pain, hurt.
- 41:31Ow. Boo Boo.
- 41:35And I love this moment too. This should have been part of my
- 41:37absurd instead of just making a fake box.
- 41:41It says salt on it. They used a name brand salt and
- 41:45it blurted out. Yeah, I noticed that too.
- 41:48I was like, I feel. Like it probably would have been
- 41:49easier on your budget to just like, get a box and write salt.
- 41:53It almost kind of looked like it was out of focus, but then I
- 41:56paid attention. I was like Nope, they just
- 41:58blurted. Yep, just turn it around even.
- 42:01Yeah. They're creative, like the
- 42:03Hallmark movies. Yes, absolutely.
- 42:05Just turn it like we we get the gist.
- 42:07It's salt you're torturing. We get it.
- 42:09It's fine. Yeah.
- 42:10We knew what we were signing up for with this movie.
- 42:13Yeah, that was really. Funny, there are pliers with a
- 42:15tooth on the cover that tells us everything when you do that.
- 42:19But we see the pills being made and packaged.
- 42:21We cut to two couples camping. Taylor is pregnant and scared to
- 42:25tell Nick, and Kai is trying to encourage her.
- 42:28Oh boy, they set this up so fast and yeah, hard.
- 42:31Like they don't ease into it. They're like, Oh my God, I got,
- 42:34I check in now I'm pregnant. Is that the second adjective?
- 42:37You really wanted to go with fast and.
- 42:43Yeah. So Taylor does always wakes up
- 42:46Nick and they play Would you rather, and I want us to do
- 42:48these two questions as well because it felt very tailored to
- 42:52our particular feelings. So the first one is, would you
- 42:57this one's medio, OK? Would you rather be trapped in a
- 43:01room with a bunch of snakes or with a bunch of giant spiders?
- 43:05Snakes? Yes, absolutely.
- 43:06And that's what Nick chooses as well.
- 43:09Then he asked Taylor, would she rather be trapped in a room
- 43:13that's freezing, like below freezing.
- 43:15We're super, super hot, like on fire.
- 43:17And she says, do I get a blanket?
- 43:18And he says you get a blanket in the hot room.
- 43:20And she chooses the hot room, which is also what I would
- 43:22choose. I've heard that if you get
- 43:26hypothermia, you have a moment towards the end where you get
- 43:31really warm all over. Yeah.
- 43:33Which is like a peaceful way to go.
- 43:35Yeah, if you ever get really, really cold, if you're ever in
- 43:38like a blow freezing situation and you start to feel very
- 43:40comfortable, that's bad. Yeah.
- 43:43So I would choose that personally because, you know, at
- 43:45least you'd get comfort. Taylor has a really shitty
- 43:50dolphin tattoo and I'm sorry if that's the actress's actual body
- 43:54art. I really hope it was just the
- 43:57makeup department was like, oh, we set up this whole koi, fish,
- 44:01dolphin, Japanese wave thing. It's really bad if they did,
- 44:04yeah. It's it's really, it makes it.
- 44:06Looks like a palm tree. I forget the the character's
- 44:10name, but on Bob's Burgers she's got like a tattoo on her
- 44:16shoulder and she loses a bunch of weight and it like changes
- 44:19shape. I remember that in an early
- 44:20season. That's what this tattoo makes
- 44:22video. It's really bad.
- 44:23It's pretty bad, yeah. So Turny jumps into the cuddle
- 44:28puddle and says they gotta get going by 5 cuz they all go to
- 44:32work and then Kai also joins in on the puddle cuz they're all
- 44:35friends. Yeah.
- 44:36And you know, I guess that's the thing that.
- 44:39Been there, done that, yeah. You know, I actually have done
- 44:42that. Yeah, I've done that.
- 44:43Cuddle bottles. Yeah, I've cuddle puddles plenty
- 44:46of times. So we see them getting back in
- 44:50the car and then we see Kai run up to Taylor real quick and slip
- 44:53some pills in her boots. Miss Cotton, she says, and that
- 44:57I, I've meant to look this up and I forgot in my journey of
- 45:01trying to find any literally any information about this movie is
- 45:05Oxycontin. Is that like a brand name?
- 45:07And that's why they had to say specifically, Ms. Cotton.
- 45:09I don't think you can get sued for saying Oxycontin no.
- 45:14Yeah, so. No, I don't.
- 45:17I'm not familiar with this drug. Apparently it's a painkiller
- 45:20though. Yeah, She's like, I don't
- 45:22understand why she's trying to hide this from.
- 45:24Is she abusing? Yeah.
- 45:26Why is she hiding it? They're like, it's also
- 45:28interesting that they're quick release pills cuz they're in the
- 45:30little capsules, whereas like the tablets are the time
- 45:34release. Yeah, it's interesting.
- 45:37Yeah, they don't really. There's like really nothing
- 45:41focused on this. I'm really curious about what
- 45:44her deal with this is and why she's why she's hiding it from
- 45:47Tony. Well, because he wouldn't
- 45:48approve. And we kind of get the
- 45:49impression that Tony is the responsible one because he's the
- 45:52one that like, well, OK, we got to get going because we got, we
- 45:54got to be, you know, home for work.
- 45:56Like he's the one that doesn't want to sell out Greg.
- 45:59Yeah, he's the cool guy. Yeah.
- 46:00Cool guy, Tony. Yeah.
- 46:02Yeah. All right, so they arrive at a
- 46:05gas station. No, the most poorly lit gas
- 46:08station. Well, to be fair, it is 2:00 AM
- 46:10and I know this very distinct feeling of waking up.
- 46:13I gotta go pee real quick. We're at a gas station.
- 46:16It's the middle of the night. Also though, just the
- 46:18surrounding area and I was it's just black.
- 46:23But then we see them drive off here in a little bit.
- 46:25There's like they don't even have St. lights.
- 46:28There's like some tiny little lights, but they just like light
- 46:31up just that immediate area. It's really, really poorly.
- 46:34I'm getting a very rural vibe with.
- 46:37It I am from rural like this is it's not that bad usually I got
- 46:44these things I got bright ass pole was next to my parents
- 46:47house where I grew up. Two, this little strip right
- 46:53here next to a functioning gas station has nothing.
- 46:57OK, just just. Pointing out OK, so anyways,
- 47:01Taylor goes to go pee. While that's happening, Nick is
- 47:04trying to gas up and a woman approaches saying that she ran
- 47:07out of gas down the road and needs a lift.
- 47:09Yeah, like, it's kind of one of those.
- 47:11Like, she could walk back because it's only a mile, and
- 47:13she clearly walked down this way to get her gas.
- 47:15But like, wouldn't it be nice if you gave me a ride back?
- 47:18Since it's 2:00 AM And Taylor comes back learns about this,
- 47:22she says there's some strange cougar and Nick calls her barely
- 47:28a bobcat, which I thought was a funny.
- 47:32Yes, yeah. Yeah, she's just basically,
- 47:34like, I get it from both parties.
- 47:36Like it's weird to just invite a stranger into your car without
- 47:39asking the other three people that are going to be in the car.
- 47:42But I also get it from Nick's perspective, like it's a
- 47:46seemingly harmless person just wanting to ride a mile down the
- 47:49road to her car. It tracked because she had her
- 47:52own gas can. Yeah.
- 47:54And yeah, you're you got her outnumbered, so theoretically if
- 47:58she tried to pull anything you should be able to get her, but
- 48:02she outsmarts them. Yeah, So they get in the car.
- 48:05She makes Taylor hold the gas can.
- 48:08I noticed that. And then Tony says she smells
- 48:11good. And she goes, oh, I designed
- 48:12perfume. That's what I do.
- 48:13So when they get to the car, oh, and it's awkward.
- 48:16This is only a vial, right? But they're like, everybody's
- 48:19just kind of sitting there awkwardly.
- 48:20And so Nick tries to turn on the station, and this, like, really
- 48:23fuzzy heavy metal comes on. And Diane's like, I love this
- 48:29song. And then Taylor just turns it
- 48:32off. And they get to the car and she
- 48:33goes, let me get you girls some samples.
- 48:35And Taylor, like, is furious at this point.
- 48:38She's like, I just want to drive off.
- 48:39And it's like, we're just being polite at this point.
- 48:40They could just drive off. Should've.
- 48:42Yeah, they should've been like, no, thanks, got to go.
- 48:44And because they don't, we get, I think this moment is actually
- 48:47really effectively scary because all of a sudden she just like
- 48:50pops up and she's got a gas mask on and she's blasting them.
- 48:53Yeah, it's pretty, the effective scene.
- 48:56So they wake up groggy and things are a little fuzzy.
- 49:00They got people just talking about like, should we do it?
- 49:02I don't know. How do we even know this video
- 49:04is real? We've got to get to 100% and
- 49:07then Greg's like, all right, well, we're gonna.
- 49:10He's like, I'm gonna make the. Decision.
- 49:11And he just comes up and he just pulls off one of Kai's
- 49:14fingernails. You know, we get bum, bum, bum,
- 49:17bum, bum, bum. It's like silence and it's Tony.
- 49:24He fucking rages out of his restraints and goes over there
- 49:27and punches Greg. OK.
- 49:30And clearly, this house is designed for them to be able to
- 49:33torture each other. And the fact that this chair was
- 49:36so not sturdy makes me think it wasn't meant to be like a
- 49:39restraint chair. It was meant to be like AWWE,
- 49:43like, yeah. It's just so funny, like chaos
- 49:47erupts and everybody's just fighting and.
- 49:50That's the background. But we don't get to hear it
- 49:53because we're just hearing. They get done in Beast Boys like
- 49:59you. So Greg, well, first of all,
- 50:03Greg is like, listen, we just, we had this video that said that
- 50:06we got to torture each other and we're trying to see if it was
- 50:09real. And Tony goes by ripping off one
- 50:11of my girlfriend's fingernails. I mean, he's got a point.
- 50:15That was they had a right to just, he had a right to Hulk out
- 50:19and start smashing. Yeah, right.
- 50:21Like, I mean, just pinch somebody real quick and see what
- 50:24happens, you know, like. Yeah, he couldn't pinch
- 50:27themselves. There's so.
- 50:28Many easier ways to go about this than just like, alright,
- 50:31we're gonna RIP out some fingernails.
- 50:33I'm not gonna lie, the entire time I was singing just pinch
- 50:35pinch and fuck and hurts just like pinch and twist.
- 50:38Yeah, purple that nerple, yeah. You'll you'll get some beeps.
- 50:42You'll get some good beeps from that.
- 50:45So yeah, they go up and they watch the video and we see Maria
- 50:48Olson. And my weird superpower is that
- 50:51I can immediately identify Maria Olson anytime she appears on
- 50:54screen. And I always go, oh, it's that
- 50:55Lady from file. And Travis never believes me
- 50:57until he looks at him, because that is in fact that Lady from
- 51:00file. How often are we seeing her?
- 51:02It happens more often. She's got like a huge fucking
- 51:05filmography. Character actor.
- 51:06Yeah, Yeah, she's a character actor.
- 51:08She's a that guy. Yeah.
- 51:10So. But yeah, she's like, welcome to
- 51:11my house. You must torture each other.
- 51:14And then you get to leave and they all believe.
- 51:17That they just, yeah. I mean, at that point, I think I
- 51:21probably would too, honestly. And they've got 22 hours from
- 51:26when they begin, which means that Greg started this
- 51:29countdown. He's every person you don't want
- 51:31to be trapped with in a SAW game.
- 51:33Yeah, because he just started the timer before anybody had a
- 51:35chance to learn the rules. Yep, he fucking sucks.
- 51:38People are mad, so they talk amongst themselves and they're
- 51:42like, OK, let's split it out evenly, we'll share the load.
- 51:46Yeah, so it's between nine of them at this point, so they, it
- 51:55would make it easier, You know, a little over 11% per person.
- 51:59Lisa's fucking terrified. And Julian says I'm not
- 52:01splitting anything, this is all Greg's fault.
- 52:04And everybody's like, wait, you guys know each other?
- 52:06And then the group votes and they the majority comes in favor
- 52:10of splitting and Julian says fuck this and rips out his
- 52:13little thing and it releases the like toxins or poison or
- 52:17whatever it is and he dies just folds and the little percentages
- 52:21that he got in the melee earlier disappear.
- 52:26Did that actually show it disappearing there?
- 52:28OK. Because it went beep beep beep
- 52:30boop boop boop boop boop. OK.
- 52:33Yeah, interesting. So then Tara decides that she
- 52:38says that the men should step up.
- 52:40And Greg is like, no, we're we're all doing this together.
- 52:44Yeah. And Sam keeps trying to keep
- 52:46everybody on task. And then Kyle is like, hey,
- 52:50Speaking of being on task, let's make Greg go first.
- 52:52Since he pulled out my fucking fingernail.
- 52:54And I were just like, that's fair.
- 52:55And Greg's like, I can't really argue with that, I guess.
- 52:58Yeah, He's, like, trying to think of something.
- 53:00But by that point he was trapped down to the table.
- 53:02My favorite running thing in this movie is Tony is constantly
- 53:05getting his revenge cuz he he sucks up here he's like this is
- 53:10mine. So it first they tie him up to a
- 53:15chair and they all just like punch him for a long.
- 53:18Time they just pummel them. Yeah, They don't have a game
- 53:21plan. They're just like, let's just
- 53:22start whacking them. It's like the scene in Office
- 53:25Space where they, like, break the printer.
- 53:28Yeah, except the printer is Greg.
- 53:31Yeah, pretty much. Instead of like a sick needle
- 53:33drop we have. Yeah, it's really that is a sick
- 53:39needle job. So it's an hour later, Greg is
- 53:46bleeding but he it's not working fast enough basically.
- 53:50They only have 7.53%. Yeah, so he's only halfway
- 53:54through. They they all need to get up to
- 53:5514%. This is the point where Beast
- 53:58Boy or Sam I, I was writing him as Beast Boy and Sam
- 54:03interchangeably, but he's like, you know what?
- 54:05Same chemicals are released whenever we have sex so maybe we
- 54:08could start having an orgy and then Tara shuts that down hard.
- 54:12And you know what? I think the movie doesn't linger
- 54:15on this point, but I kind of like that because that is also
- 54:20icky and coercive and assaultive.
- 54:22It is putting it like making people do that, yeah.
- 54:26And also, if you're doing it under duress, you're probably
- 54:28not going to release the same kind of endorphins.
- 54:31Probably not, but I guess if you really had to, you can just go
- 54:35and take care of yourself, you know what I mean?
- 54:38Oh my God, now I'm picturing that scene from Green Inferno.
- 54:42Yeah, it's just like in the corner, just whacking off.
- 54:45Yeah, yeah. All right.
- 54:49So yeah, they shut that down and then they get Greg tied up to a
- 54:52table now to continue his thrashing.
- 54:54And they're like, we'll stop at 14%.
- 54:56And then Tara leans over and she goes, I remember you.
- 54:59And she's basically his eyebrow interrogating him.
- 55:04Yeah, cuz she was like, who are you?
- 55:06What are you now? Kneecap.
- 55:08Broken shin. Oh God man.
- 55:10OK yeah she the kneecap 1 upsets me probably the most.
- 55:15She takes a screwdriver to his kneecap and like just pops it
- 55:19right. They show it.
- 55:21They don't show the kneecap move but they show her like dig it in
- 55:24there. Yeah, hoof.
- 55:26Even if it was just digging like under like into the Patella or
- 55:29tendon, that's. But the kneecap, Oh my God, that
- 55:32just makes me that. That's a squirming.
- 55:34That got me squirming right there.
- 55:35I'm gonna be honest, when I swore my ACL, the first thing I
- 55:38thought was I was like, oh God, did I dislocate my kneecap?
- 55:42Like, oh really? Cuz that I've heard stories
- 55:44where people's kneecaps get like shifted and I was more scared of
- 55:47that. When I saw my kneecap with
- 55:49someplace I was like I can deal with literally anything else.
- 55:51If my kneecap had been over there, I probably would have
- 55:54passed out. I might have too.
- 55:59So he gets to his 14% and everybody's just kind of looking
- 56:02at her like she's a maniac and she's like, what?
- 56:04We said we were gonna do this. I don't get why everybody's
- 56:08looking at me like I'm doing something wrong.
- 56:09Yeah, like she's like, we voted on this.
- 56:11Like nobody voted on fucking massacring his legs.
- 56:14They're like, we have to carry him out now.
- 56:15He can't fucking walk. And Tony's like, we need to do
- 56:18this smartly because I don't want to end up like that.
- 56:20Do you? This good foreshadowing for her
- 56:23later. Honestly, from this alone, they
- 56:25should have been like, but you're getting it.
- 56:28Yeah, it's happening to you. So Sam suggests maybe now we'll
- 56:33do half and half instead of all at once.
- 56:36That way they don't completely wear themselves out because, and
- 56:38that's another interesting thought, gives them time to
- 56:40recuperate. And also it doesn't leave the
- 56:42last person there having to torture themselves, basically.
- 56:46Yeah. And they say no more major leg
- 56:49injuries. Yeah, so, and they also
- 56:54recognize like they're like, well, maybe we shouldn't even do
- 56:57it at all. Maybe they, like, are just lying
- 56:58to us. And then Nick is like, well, we
- 57:01all have that. 2nd vial that's full.
- 57:03Yeah, they tricked us before. We can't really take them on
- 57:05ourselves because we're stupid. And yeah, we have a lethal dose
- 57:10here, so. So Lisa suggests that they draw
- 57:12to see who goes next. The only like helpfulness Lisa
- 57:17really has throughout this. Yeah.
- 57:19So they go and they smash a plate and they use stars blood
- 57:22to number this, which I. Thought I thought it was kind of
- 57:24icky. I thought it was icky.
- 57:26I thought it was funny. And I also like the way like
- 57:28when her blood was drying up, she like bleep.
- 57:31She's like running her finger down.
- 57:32I thought this was really well shot, honestly.
- 57:35And we get the. Yeah, honestly, I thought like
- 57:40do the whoever draws the smallest 1, you know, everybody
- 57:44reaching, pick a Shard, whoever's got the tiniest one
- 57:47goes 1st and then go in that order, they get the tiniest.
- 57:50And here's the thing. Instead I was like, these pieces
- 57:52aren't the same. Kai has had a distinct
- 57:54advantage. And you know what number Kai
- 57:56ends up drawing? 7.
- 57:57She ends up going last. So the people, the order that
- 58:01they're going to go and Sam gets one, Nick gets 2, Lisa gets 3,
- 58:06Taylor is 4, Tara is 5, Tony is 6 and Kai is 7.
- 58:12Like Greg, he like everybody draws and then one is the last.
- 58:15He just kinda looks around, like come on.
- 58:17That's Sam the actor. Sam fucked.
- 58:19It's so confusing, I know. Beastop Yeah.
- 58:23Sam goes down to the basin and he takes off his shirt and turns
- 58:26like, why are you undressing? It's my favorite shirt.
- 58:29Fair. That's.
- 58:30What I Yeah, I get that. Also, like if you're gonna burn
- 58:33him with an iron, like he should take off his shirt, you don't
- 58:38want to melt the yeah to your skin.
- 58:40That's worse. It I also he's like all scarred
- 58:44up, which makes me think this guy probably signed up for this.
- 58:47He's probably like sadist or something.
- 58:50I like how tires like is he even going to feel anything?
- 58:53Is it sadist or masochist? Masochist.
- 58:56Where you prefer the pain. Yeah, OK.
- 58:58Sadist is doing it to other people.
- 59:00Well, he's both. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 59:03He's a set, a masochist. I thought it was really funny
- 59:05that, like, I, I didn't expect it and I didn't know what he was
- 59:08doing at first. But like, Tony goes over to the
- 59:11iron, picks it up and spits on it.
- 59:13I was like, oh, he's testing to see if it's hot like that.
- 59:16That's one way to do it. Just spit on it.
- 59:18Yeah. I whenever I'm like ironing, I
- 59:20just kind of hold my hand up near.
- 59:22It yeah, I just like, you know, see like I'm hot it's generating
- 59:25me there we go he's like. Don't worry bro, I'm totally
- 59:30clean. Yeah, you know what?
- 59:33It's gonna go on. It's like I'm melting spit
- 59:35inside your skin now. It's I will be with you forever.
- 59:40And so he makes them promise not to mess with his genitals.
- 59:44And Tony's like, I think we can all agree that we should leave
- 59:46genitals alone. And he's like, I don't want
- 59:47anything to happen in my face. And Tara's like, why are we all
- 59:51getting so vain all of a sudden? And Tony's like, it's not vain
- 59:54to want my balls to be left alone.
- 59:56And it's like, we can leave your face alone.
- 59:58I'm sure we can do that, Lisa. Like.
- 59:59Yeah, I think we can all find ways.
- 1:00:02I think honestly, it's almost even like Tara signed up for
- 1:00:05this. She's got some.
- 1:00:07She's Betty Gilpin in the hunt. She's.
- 1:00:11Yeah, yeah, she, she sucks. She but the actor does a really
- 1:00:17good job of making her hateable. Yes.
- 1:00:19I I She's probably the best performer.
- 1:00:21Yeah, she doesn't feel over the top.
- 1:00:24Like, no, she's just, as Lisa refers to her later, an evil
- 1:00:27bitch. She sells it super.
- 1:00:29Well, yeah, So they do the iron on his stomach for a really long
- 1:00:33time. I'm like, Oh my God, it's going
- 1:00:35to melt his skin. This is terrifying.
- 1:00:37Please stop it. And when they do, he's at 6%.
- 1:00:40So I got to get him another percent and a half, which takes
- 1:00:432 fingernails. So this is we're starting to get
- 1:00:46some of the data points here. Yep.
- 1:00:48Yeah. And then he just kind of like,
- 1:00:51slowly walks his way out of the room and then goes to sit down
- 1:00:55in the chair and Nick follows him.
- 1:00:58Nick thanks him for having a level head and they discussed
- 1:01:02their plans for after this. And Sam's like, I'll probably
- 1:01:05just go back to work and Nick's like, you love your job that
- 1:01:07much. He goes Nope.
- 1:01:09What else are you supposed to do?
- 1:01:10Nick, Come on. Like, oh, you're, you're still
- 1:01:12going to work after this? Like what?
- 1:01:15Yeah, like. What are you going to do, Nick?
- 1:01:18I'm going to sue the drug company.
- 1:01:19Yeah, I'm going to beat Big Pharma.
- 1:01:24OK, so. Nick wants to do his in the
- 1:01:26bedroom, Taylor's in the kitchen and she's crying.
- 1:01:29And then Lisa's talking to her and like, trying to bolster up.
- 1:01:32And then, you know, she starts crying and she's scared and
- 1:01:34Taylor gets snippy with her and Lisa's like, Jesus, I'm scared
- 1:01:38too. And I'm going next and Taylor's
- 1:01:40like, sorry, it's just not pregnant so.
- 1:01:42Real convenient timing to bring this up.
- 1:01:44Yeah. She should have brought.
- 1:01:46If she didn't chicken out before, it wouldn't seem fake.
- 1:01:48But now, like the only person there that can believe her is
- 1:01:50Kai. Yeah, Kai knew beforehand.
- 1:01:52But like, if you tell people now I'm pregnant, like nobody's
- 1:01:55going to. It's like saw six.
- 1:01:57Yeah. In the circle, the carousel.
- 1:01:59Yeah. Like, oh, OK.
- 1:02:01You're just saying that because you went out of.
- 1:02:03It Yeah, she remembers that she's got the drugs in her boot,
- 1:02:06so she puts them in her mouth and then goes kisses and
- 1:02:10transfers them into Nick's mouth and says to just trust her.
- 1:02:14Lisa lets them know that Greg's awake, but he can't stand, so
- 1:02:17they're going to have to figure out a way to get him out of
- 1:02:19there. That's where the deleted scene
- 1:02:20before was, where he just yells at her face.
- 1:02:23Tyra suggests that they all just do their first half and then
- 1:02:27take out the rest on him and then leave him there.
- 1:02:30Kai agrees because she doesn't want to go through what he went
- 1:02:33through, and Taylor agrees on hers and Nick's behalf.
- 1:02:36And Sam is like, yeah. He just, he's just shrugs and
- 1:02:39then Tony's like, you know what? Fucking disappointed and all
- 1:02:42y'all are cowards. Yep.
- 1:02:44So they start on Nick somehow there's we're down to 13 hours
- 1:02:47left. How much time has been like
- 1:02:50this? They waste a lot of time.
- 1:02:52I don't know like. 9 hours have passed, and in that 9 hours all
- 1:02:56they've done is torture Beast Boy and break a plate.
- 1:03:00Oh, and Greg. Yeah.
- 1:03:01And Greg? That's it.
- 1:03:02Yeah, they they are really wasting time.
- 1:03:05God, you know who would thrive in this environment?
- 1:03:07So ask motherfucking chef. Yep, and Ricky and.
- 1:03:13Ricky and Papa Ricky so they they don't get him up as fast as
- 1:03:21the others but they do finally get up to 25%.
- 1:03:24Yeah, like they're like, I don't know what the fuck is wrong.
- 1:03:26With they're like, is this going to keep going?
- 1:03:27Getting harder and harder, like they're worried that this game
- 1:03:30is rigged. They're very.
- 1:03:31Nervous Taylor should have spoken up, but she stays silent.
- 1:03:34She's afraid to tell people. Lisa runs off and Tara and Sam
- 1:03:38go to get her and they have to restrain her because she is
- 1:03:43fighting really hard. We don't see any of her torture
- 1:03:45scenes which almost feel like. I get that she's a fictional
- 1:03:49character, but it almost feels like a kindness to her to not.
- 1:03:53Am I? Am I remembering wrong?
- 1:03:54But did they actually get her face?
- 1:03:57I feel like I remember seeing her face being a little bit
- 1:03:59bloody bloody. They didn't respect her wishes.
- 1:04:02Because Nick was still recovering, he wasn't down there
- 1:04:05to protect her face. He was the only one that agreed,
- 1:04:08yeah, you know what? When everybody was like, let's
- 1:04:11just kill Greg. I would have been like, all
- 1:04:13right, all bets are off. I was gonna say I feel like Tony
- 1:04:15probably would have tried to protect her face and then she
- 1:04:18said let's kill Greg and he was like, fuck your.
- 1:04:20Face. Yep.
- 1:04:22So Taylor comes, she's cleaning up Nick and bandaging him.
- 1:04:26And she admits about the drugs. She'd forgotten that she had
- 1:04:29them, but she wanted to, you know, make it easier for him.
- 1:04:32He's like, you know, I don't agree about Greg.
- 1:04:34I'm not going to let anyone else touch him.
- 1:04:35And she's like, I'm pregnant. And he's like, and Tara is in
- 1:04:41the doorway and now saying that Lisa is done, and she overhears
- 1:04:45this. So we got to a group meeting and
- 1:04:47Tara is like, so now you're pregnant.
- 1:04:51It's awfully convenient. Yeah, I'll give her credit here.
- 1:04:53And. Lisa's like she still has to do
- 1:04:55it. I had to do it, so everybody has
- 1:04:56to do it. It's not like she's like super
- 1:04:58pregnant like she can maybe like, you know, like do what she
- 1:05:00did like here in a little bit, like hurt her arm or something,
- 1:05:03something like not too bad. Yeah, I.
- 1:05:07No, nobody's asking you to get your tummy kicked you.
- 1:05:09Know what I mean? We're not pushing you down the
- 1:05:11stairs. Yeah.
- 1:05:13I thought that was a dark joke. I'm sorry.
- 1:05:14It's dark, but this is a dark movie.
- 1:05:16Dark shit's happening here. And then, you know, they're also
- 1:05:20like, but what are we supposed to do?
- 1:05:22And then she goes, oh, or no, Nick is like, I'm gonna take her
- 1:05:26spot so that what she doesn't have to do.
- 1:05:27And they're like, well, we don't have time for that because it
- 1:05:29took five hours to get 7 1/2% out of you.
- 1:05:32And I was like, oh, tell them why about that.
- 1:05:36And so then she has to come clean about the pills.
- 1:05:37And then Greg's like. You have drugs.
- 1:05:40He is so mad that nobody's told him about the painkillers
- 1:05:43because he's just a miserable. One, and now he earned them and
- 1:05:47he just takes all of them, all of what's in the bag.
- 1:05:52That's probably why he dies in a little bit.
- 1:05:54Tara and Sam try to stop him because they're like, no, we
- 1:05:57need him to be like lucid. And Nick's like, no, I don't
- 1:06:03care what everybody else except for me and Tony voted on.
- 1:06:06We're not going to torture Greg until he's almost dead and
- 1:06:09Greg's like y'all motherfuckers. And then this is where Tara
- 1:06:12starts like freaking out and Tony punches her and she falls
- 1:06:16down. I get a little beep and then Kai
- 1:06:19says that her and Tony will split Taylor's with her, which I
- 1:06:23think is a really nice thing, a nice gesture, and I think Kai is
- 1:06:28a good friend. Despite the fact that as they
- 1:06:31all go to dunk their hands in this, they've got like a broth
- 1:06:34pot full of boiling water and they go to dunk their hands in
- 1:06:38and Kai chickens out at the last second.
- 1:06:40I think it was a fight or flight instinct.
- 1:06:42I think she couldn't get herself to do it.
- 1:06:45Really I feel like the only reason they didn't they never
- 1:06:48have her have any pain in this movie because like they need to
- 1:06:52kill her off without getting the a deduction on the progress.
- 1:06:57Yeah, she got some percent from her fingernail at the beginning.
- 1:07:03Yeah, that was so, yeah, I think that was really the only reason
- 1:07:07for a writing perspective. But as a character perspective
- 1:07:11fucker. Like this moment of Tony and
- 1:07:14Taylor, they hold hands and they dunk their hands in together and
- 1:07:17their plan is just to keep going until they hit the 7%.
- 1:07:21But then Tyra comes in with a knife, slashes at Tony's back.
- 1:07:24He fumbles backwards, pulls the broth pot down for him, which if
- 1:07:28you don't know what a broth pot is, it's a tall fucking pot.
- 1:07:30So they're like like. Yeah, and he's got boiling water
- 1:07:34poured all over him now and again.
- 1:07:37Some foreshadowing because he gets hot water all over his
- 1:07:40genitals. He did.
- 1:07:42He did. Pooped them balls like Yep.
- 1:07:44They are. These eggs are fried.
- 1:07:49And this is where we see and some everybody has to come and
- 1:07:52restrain them. We've got 5 1/2 hours left and
- 1:07:55they are at 47%. Yeah, that really did ratchet up
- 1:07:58the percentage there, though. Yep.
- 1:08:00And Tara's tied up and they're like, so your little son got us
- 1:08:04almost halfway and she's like OK, good, OK, cool.
- 1:08:06So we're just going to do my 7% and then we'll just keep going
- 1:08:09with the plan and they're like going on with plans.
- 1:08:12We voted. Yeah, and you were awake, so we
- 1:08:16voted for you. So it was unanimous.
- 1:08:19And Tara's like, no, but it should be Greg because he sells
- 1:08:22these drugs and and she's like doing everything she can to
- 1:08:26cause chaos rock like Amadeus. Honestly my favorite thing
- 1:08:30before this. So is like they they did enough
- 1:08:33to get Greg just to prop him up in her face so he can be like
- 1:08:36weird. Yeah, I feel like Greg was like,
- 1:08:39I understand that it's gonna take a lot to carry me down to
- 1:08:42the basement and then back up afterwards, but I want to see
- 1:08:45this bitch tortured. I love this is one of the most
- 1:08:49satisfying parts of the movie. He's like, don't worry, I
- 1:08:51wouldn't do anything to you that you wouldn't do to me.
- 1:08:54Yeah, he was like, I got to be down.
- 1:08:55I got this sick ass villain line I got to say to her.
- 1:08:58Yeah, he was about to get his revenge, but then, And yeah, she
- 1:09:01causes that chaos. She breaks free from her
- 1:09:04restraint for a second, grabs a knife and starts slashing, and
- 1:09:07it ends up accidentally getting Kai across the throat.
- 1:09:14So they're all screaming in silence of this song that I
- 1:09:17think now has lyrics. This is where we get the lyrics
- 1:09:20because this is a big moment. And then they're the three
- 1:09:26remaining friends are crying over her body.
- 1:09:28And then Tony goes, she is mine. And everyone's like.
- 1:09:31Tony's Revenge Part 2. Tony's Revenge Part 2 and they
- 1:09:35start off by breaking her teeth. Cool, dude.
- 1:09:37Yeah, I like, it's satisfying. This is one of the ones where
- 1:09:41they don't move the camera and we see the action here.
- 1:09:44They take a wrench and they first stop to get her pipe.
- 1:09:47In her yeah mouth and then they hit her with a wrench a couple
- 1:09:49of. Times and they see her.
- 1:09:51Under her jaw. I thought they were good at
- 1:09:53throw it at first, no? It's almost like a cigarette
- 1:09:55punch type motion. Yeah.
- 1:09:57Yeah, so they do that, and she turns her head and she spits out
- 1:10:01teeth, boy. And then they take a cheese
- 1:10:05grater to her shoulder. Yeah.
- 1:10:07And then they pour a little paint thinner on it just to get
- 1:10:10funky boy. And we cut away and there's 57
- 1:10:14minutes left. They've been at this for five,
- 1:10:18almost 5. Hours, time.
- 1:10:19And they got 84%, so they did like 40%.
- 1:10:24Yeah, let her alone. Holy shit.
- 1:10:25And they're like, all right. I think we've squeezed her for
- 1:10:27all that she's worth. And they realized they can't
- 1:10:29stay at the same where they've been going.
- 1:10:31So they're like, well, groups of three.
- 1:10:32And they're like, Greg can't do anymore.
- 1:10:35He's super drugged up now. And they're like, OK, well, all
- 1:10:38five of us go at 116%. And Nick is like, I once broke
- 1:10:43my clavicle and it was the worst pain of my life.
- 1:10:46I I prefer the term clavicle to a collarbone.
- 1:10:48Yeah, of course you do. You like big words?
- 1:10:51Again, I don't feel like you get to say clavicle enough in life.
- 1:10:55You're just trying to stunt on all of us here today.
- 1:10:59I literally I that's how I wrote it in my note clavicle.
- 1:11:01Yeah, you're still stunning. Check out these teas.
- 1:11:06Did he use that right? I don't know and I I don't I
- 1:11:09didn't like. That I've heard the kids say it.
- 1:11:12Anyway, he says it's the worst thing he's ever experienced.
- 1:11:15And they're like, can you still use your arms?
- 1:11:17He's like, yeah. So Tony offers to be the one to
- 1:11:20do it. And, you know, this moment was
- 1:11:23used in the trailer. We haven't watched the trailer,
- 1:11:24but, you know, this has to be used in the trailer where he
- 1:11:27goes, this is gonna hurt. And it goes.
- 1:11:29I'm counting on it. It's like Eric.
- 1:11:31Cue the song Doo Doo Doo Doo. Yeah.
- 1:11:35And we get like, because the way they probably did this
- 1:11:38realistically was they had the wrench on their, they did a
- 1:11:41backward shot. If they did this backwards
- 1:11:44because it's a one shot, they they did a good job moving,
- 1:11:49walking back. Well, because they did it like
- 1:11:51they no, I think that it was filmed in reverse and then like.
- 1:11:56Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying because like it's a one shot
- 1:11:59take here and he's like getting. All of them editing manipulation
- 1:12:04with this. It's like.
- 1:12:05Cuz it like slows down right? Before yeah that's it speeds up
- 1:12:09in between yeah, but I mean, they like if they're moving
- 1:12:12backwards cuz that was one of the things I was wondering cuz
- 1:12:15they sell it pretty well here yeah.
- 1:12:17How do you do that without actually hurting?
- 1:12:19Them I really don't think this is a seamless one take.
- 1:12:21I think this is one of those that it looks like it's a one
- 1:12:24take but it's got some cheats in it.
- 1:12:26Could be. That's my my gut thought on this
- 1:12:29and if it is A1 take, I'm willing to take back those
- 1:12:32words. But Taylor shared and will never
- 1:12:35tell us because he doesn't want any association with this movie.
- 1:12:38Fucking coward. They get to Taylor and she's
- 1:12:43like go ahead, go ahead and he's like.
- 1:12:45He hesitates, and then Nick grabs the wrench out of his
- 1:12:48hands. And so he's like, yeah.
- 1:12:52And he goes. Kai would want me to take it for
- 1:12:54her, so he breaks both. He gets it twice.
- 1:12:57Yeah. And am I, did I see this wrong,
- 1:13:01or did he miss Sam's collarbone and he hits him right in the
- 1:13:06head? I there's, I swear to God, I
- 1:13:09thought I saw him hit him in the head instead, which it could
- 1:13:12have probably fractured his skull, probably confessed him if
- 1:13:16he actually hit him in the head. But it looks like he got his
- 1:13:18head. Yeah, I don't.
- 1:13:21I don't know, but she still hurts so I'm sure that.
- 1:13:24That worked, but 34 minutes left, they're 100% and Maria
- 1:13:28Olson gives them some outboarding information on how
- 1:13:31they can get out of here. Yeah, I was confused at this
- 1:13:33because they have that device at the door that is supposed to
- 1:13:36clear them. I thought it was taking the
- 1:13:38thing off of them. But it doesn't taking the vial
- 1:13:41of the stuff they want, but it doesn't take the poison off.
- 1:13:43OK, so they go through. Lisa goes through first, then
- 1:13:47Sam and then they send Tara's body through and Sam gets her
- 1:13:52and then Tony gets Kai's body, sends her through to Sam and
- 1:13:56then he goes through and as he goes through he shouts for Nick
- 1:14:00and Taylor's like go see what's happening.
- 1:14:03I will get Greg through on my own.
- 1:14:05Yeah, that was a bad call because she can't lift Greg.
- 1:14:07Like I get that he's calling for help, but also like as a group
- 1:14:11they should have gotten Greg closer to the door before they
- 1:14:13all started going. Through I mean they got all of
- 1:14:15the other like motionless bodies out beforehand.
- 1:14:18Like why leave Greg behind? Why?
- 1:14:20Yeah, put the big man through first.
- 1:14:21There's more of you. Tara is like 90 lbs.
- 1:14:24Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's bad.
- 1:14:25Tara would have been good for Taylor to get on her own.
- 1:14:27Although I get it, Tara is crazy.
- 1:14:29Even subdued, she might have tried to murder her.
- 1:14:31True, yeah, but yeah, she's trying to drag Greg and she is
- 1:14:37having a hard time and then he's like, don't, it doesn't matter,
- 1:14:41they're gonna find me after this anyways, so.
- 1:14:43I'm not gonna die. He's like, I did sell these
- 1:14:45drugs. I was selling them at more than
- 1:14:47what they were worth. And I was taking the money.
- 1:14:49They're punishing me. I didn't believe the rumors
- 1:14:52about how the company was getting these.
- 1:14:54And he's like, I know I don't deserve it, but please help me
- 1:14:57get it out until it was like, yeah, no, you don't deserve it,
- 1:14:59but you know, whatever. And so she's dragging him to the
- 1:15:01door and then he dies. And when he died his percentage
- 1:15:05goes down. He actually only did 12% cuz it
- 1:15:09goes down to 88. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:11I think that they just kind of felt bad for him.
- 1:15:12Yeah. We kind of fucked him over here
- 1:15:14at the start there. So when Nick gets out of the
- 1:15:17door, he finds that everybody has been stabbed by Sam.
- 1:15:20So he's like, it was him. And so Nick follows him, and
- 1:15:23he's in this room that's got, like, security cameras and
- 1:15:25medications and more tools and stuff.
- 1:15:27And Greg's like pulling the little vial off the back of him.
- 1:15:29And he was like, yeah, this is this is what I do.
- 1:15:33This is look at what your girlfriend's doing right now.
- 1:15:34Don't you want to go be near her before you die?
- 1:15:39So like, was he? It almost kind of seemed like he
- 1:15:41was letting him go because he just ignored him when he came
- 1:15:44through. No, I think he knew that he was
- 1:15:47going to hit the poison button. OK.
- 1:15:51So he, like, I think he just stabbed everybody else to, like,
- 1:15:55slow him down. And he's trying to use Taylor as
- 1:15:58emotional manipulation on Nick. Yeah, that's how I read this.
- 1:16:01And he's like, Greg died. She's got to torture herself.
- 1:16:04And we see Taylor in there. We cut to it.
- 1:16:06She sets up a hot plate and burns her back with it.
- 1:16:10She slams her hand in a cupboard, pours bleach on her
- 1:16:14arm, nails her arm into the floor, and then rips it out.
- 1:16:18She gets through her 12% really fast at record speed.
- 1:16:22Yeah, yeah. So.
- 1:16:24Like think about it took all of the rest of them breaking their
- 1:16:27collarbones to get 16% and she gets that 12% in like 5 minutes.
- 1:16:32And they had 22 hours to do this.
- 1:16:34Like they could have gotten through this so fast.
- 1:16:36They just managed their time poorly.
- 1:16:39But like, she's weak after this. And then she's also trying to
- 1:16:42like, make her way out. But during this, Sam has been
- 1:16:47giving his whole villain speech to.
- 1:16:50Nick. And he's like, I'm still, He's
- 1:16:53like, my offer still stands. You can go say goodbye to her.
- 1:16:55And Nick says fuck you. And Sam goes, OK, find that.
- 1:16:58And he hits the button, releases the poison.
- 1:17:01Everybody that's been stabbed is feeling it immediately.
- 1:17:04And Greg was like, but Greg, Sam is like, by the way, this takes
- 1:17:07about 10 minutes to work. Bullshit.
- 1:17:10We've seen that it takes a lot less than 10 minutes to work
- 1:17:13before. Yeah, I think if 5 minutes, I
- 1:17:15would have believed that, but 10 minutes, no, I don't believe
- 1:17:19this at all. And we see.
- 1:17:24He like, he leans in to give his like, 'cause he said, you know
- 1:17:27what? Like I told him, it's kind of
- 1:17:29inefficient to do that, but they're just sick fucks and they
- 1:17:31want to see people, Yeah, die. So like Nick takes this
- 1:17:34opportunity to take the knife that he was using, the SAB.
- 1:17:37No. No.
- 1:17:38This is so Sam does say. By the way, you guys are my
- 1:17:41fifth group. Nicest group so far.
- 1:17:44Everybody's so considerate of their feelings, except for Tara.
- 1:17:46What a piece of work. Yeah, if this is the nicest
- 1:17:48group then holy shit. What were the other people?
- 1:17:50Like he's like, he didn't get murdered.
- 1:17:52And then Nick has this screwdriver that Taylor had
- 1:17:55given him before he went through because she was like, you don't
- 1:17:57know what's on the other side. So he takes this screwdriver
- 1:17:59that Sam didn't know he had, stabs him, takes the antidote
- 1:18:04pills I presumably because he doesn't die.
- 1:18:08This is pretty bad. Tries to give some to Tony who
- 1:18:11is already too far gone. It's not been 10 minutes.
- 1:18:14Sam is a liar or bad at time management, which I believe if
- 1:18:20this is his fifth group and it took the full 22 hours it's.
- 1:18:24It's hard to say because like, he could have died from the stab
- 1:18:27wound, you know? Yeah, I I don't know, but Taylor
- 1:18:32doesn't make it out. No, this whole ending here is so
- 1:18:36weird and confusing because there's there was never any
- 1:18:39mention of an antidote. And I don't think they even,
- 1:18:42like, referenced that pill even being a potential antidote.
- 1:18:45It's just like somebody like he just grabs a pill and takes it.
- 1:18:48Like, I was like, I was asking you last night and I've seen
- 1:18:50this movie so many times. Like, So what happened here?
- 1:18:52Like, yeah, how did he not die? Because he got the thing
- 1:18:55injected too. And it's like, oh, he took a
- 1:18:57pill. Yep.
- 1:18:57Oh, OK. So we see him cut through the
- 1:19:01chain on the door and walk out. Then we cut to him sometime
- 1:19:04later. He's at a diner.
- 1:19:07They have their world famous waffles.
- 1:19:10And apparently he's been here a lot because the server is saying
- 1:19:14you want your usual. And he goes, let me hear the
- 1:19:16specials. And she runs through everything.
- 1:19:18And he ends up ordering the waffles.
- 1:19:19And she's like, yeah, yeah. And she goes, oh, are you gonna
- 1:19:21get the rest of your tattoos filled in?
- 1:19:23And it's like a bunch of dolphins and just.
- 1:19:26A bunch of dolphins. Dolphins, I see.
- 1:19:29The Japanese wave on his neck too, I saw.
- 1:19:31That, yeah. So he's just sitting there and
- 1:19:34he's looking and he sees Diane and apparently he follows her
- 1:19:38until night time. Yeah.
- 1:19:41And we see her getting dropped off and she says, let me grab
- 1:19:43some samples for your wife. And the driver off screen goes,
- 1:19:47you don't know married women, do you?
- 1:19:48And he just drives off. And I was thinking about it, and
- 1:19:52I was like, OK, so Travis, I came home and he was like, I got
- 1:19:56slowed down because I gave a woman a ride to your car with
- 1:19:58some gas. I'd be like, sketchy glad you
- 1:20:01didn't get murdered, but what a good deed.
- 1:20:04But if you've been like, I gave a woman a ride to your car and
- 1:20:07she gave me perfume samples for you, it would be weird.
- 1:20:12Like, I wouldn't think that you had done anything nefarious, but
- 1:20:14I would question the woman a little.
- 1:20:16Yeah. But I'd also be like, maybe it's
- 1:20:19a nice gesture, like as a thank you, but why are you thinking me
- 1:20:22like I didn't do it? You know what I mean?
- 1:20:24Like, the whole thing is weird. Are you trying to make a sale
- 1:20:27off of somebody else's kindness towards like?
- 1:20:29This is like her sales technique where she just gets rides from
- 1:20:32strangers and it's like, hey, like, while I'm here, how about
- 1:20:35a sample? Yeah, here's my car is.
- 1:20:37Really like it gives, it's giving MLM, you know?
- 1:20:40Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:20:41So and then also I'd be like, and, you know, I'm allergic to
- 1:20:44so many perfumes. What a wild, what a wild ride
- 1:20:47that that journey sent me on last night.
- 1:20:51So Nick is there. He bashes her head into the car,
- 1:20:56stuffs her in the trunk and gets in and starts blasting some
- 1:20:59death metal. Yeah, and he's like, I love this
- 1:21:01song 'cause it's like the same song that she was listening to.
- 1:21:04That's it. That's how it ends.
- 1:21:07It is still a sentimental 8 for me.
- 1:21:10It's still six, that ending. It's satisfying the way it ends
- 1:21:15with that right there. But the whole thing of like how
- 1:21:18he gets out and how he doesn't die and like it's rushed, not
- 1:21:23explained. I don't get it.
- 1:21:25OK, so you just want to tidy up the ending?
- 1:21:28Mostly, yeah, OK. Because like, everything else is
- 1:21:30fine. Like I'm OK with being thrown in
- 1:21:32here with like a group of people that I'm not familiar with.
- 1:21:35That's fine. And the setup in general, it
- 1:21:38worked for me. I was on board with everything.
- 1:21:40But then at the end it just I'm confused.
- 1:21:44I'm less confused. OK, Talia, she was very barky at
- 1:21:51the beginning of this. You got her worked up because
- 1:21:54you told her the story of the Go Potty killer and she was just
- 1:21:58convinced that there was somebody lurking in our yard.
- 1:22:01I mean, I think it was the added effect of having the candle up
- 1:22:06to my face. Like I can't fire like who the
- 1:22:09hell of the go potty killer Yes, and she went out there.
- 1:22:12She's just. Screaming.
- 1:22:13We're not joking you guys. She went out there and just
- 1:22:16barked around every corner of the yard.
- 1:22:18She got our neighbor dog OB in on it.
- 1:22:21He was, he was concerned. He went over to her and did like
- 1:22:24a little gentle whine just to check on her.
- 1:22:27And she was she went over there, conferred with him, and then I
- 1:22:30walked out there and I stood with her while she did
- 1:22:33everything. She needed somebody out there
- 1:22:35because she was scared. So I think Talia, she was very
- 1:22:39frightened by this movie. It put her on edge along with
- 1:22:42the tale of the Go Potty Killer. She probably thought Go Potty
- 1:22:44Killer was going to take her to the scary house.
- 1:22:47So I think Talia is going to give this A9.
- 1:22:49Oh yeah, it was effective for. Her Who's is Zoe's ultimate
- 1:22:53warrior? Beast Boy, I agree.
- 1:22:57Yeah, that was so obviously. No debate needed on.
- 1:23:02That no, he's hungry all the time.
- 1:23:04Yeah, he's hungry all the time. He's a little beast.
- 1:23:10He likes to cause pain, so it's a little sadist.
- 1:23:13Yeah, OK. SO tagline.
- 1:23:17OK, tagline. Tony's revenge.
- 1:23:22Yeah, kind of, Yeah, I kind of like that.
- 1:23:28I mean, that's like a that'd be the sequel title if it weren't
- 1:23:33Jackass. Yeah, that's and that's our
- 1:23:35sequel that that's settled on. I want to see.
- 1:23:38I want to make a version of that.
- 1:23:41God, that would be so. I mean, I think that would just
- 1:23:44be a fun sequel idea because like, you would people go in
- 1:23:46expecting Oval too? It's just going to be some
- 1:23:48torture porn and shit and be like, no, it's going to be like
- 1:23:51the Jackass crew and they're just having fun with it.
- 1:23:54I bet you could get enough of them to agree to do it, yeah.
- 1:23:56I mean, they've already agreed to do 4 movies worth in a
- 1:23:59television series so. It would be one of those things
- 1:24:02where it would be one of those movies that Johnny Knoxville
- 1:24:06does where he's like, yeah, we'll make an actual movie of
- 1:24:08it, but we're actually going to do the stunts, too, and hurt
- 1:24:10ourselves. At some point they've tricked
- 1:24:14and tied up Tremaine and say he's got to take most of it.
- 1:24:17They voted. Yeah, I mean, honestly, it
- 1:24:23writes itself. Yeah, it's so easy.
- 1:24:25I want to see the, you know, those contests where you punch
- 1:24:30something as hard as you can to see what your rating is.
- 1:24:33Yeah, like at carnival. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:24:35Bar bathrooms. Yeah.
- 1:24:36I want to see that. I want to see them rig like one
- 1:24:38of those like little like poles, like strongman poles where you
- 1:24:40like hit that and then it goes up and.
- 1:24:42Is it wrong? Will be strong.
- 1:24:45Exactly, I mean if Bam were still part of the crew he could
- 1:24:48take another one up the ass if he wanted to.
- 1:24:50All. Right, there we go.
- 1:24:53But he they wouldn't want him because he.
- 1:24:55Yeah. He'd be he'd.
- 1:24:57Be the Gregor. Sneaking in the drugs.
- 1:24:59Exactly. Yeah, that got dark.
- 1:25:01It did get, really. Dark.
- 1:25:03That's the reality of the situation, unfortunately.
- 1:25:05Everybody wants him to get clean, but he doesn't want it
- 1:25:07for himself. Yeah, All right, so is the
- 1:25:11tagline gonna be Tony's revenge? I think so.
- 1:25:13OK, I'm OK with this, Tony. Tony's revenge was sweet.
- 1:25:17Yeah, it was well earned. OK.
- 1:25:21Who did you relate to? Kind of related to Sam there
- 1:25:33taking off the shirt because it was his favorite shirt because
- 1:25:35like. I could see you doing that.
- 1:25:37Yeah, I I wouldn't want to ruin my favorite shirt if I were
- 1:25:40wearing. It you'd be wearing like one of
- 1:25:41your favorite like white T-shirts and you'd be like.
- 1:25:45Man, always happens when I wear a white T-shirt.
- 1:25:47Something happens, Yeah. What about you?
- 1:25:55I feel like I probably relate to Kai because I think, like the
- 1:26:02most egregious thing you could do to me is RIP off my
- 1:26:04fingernail. So I take a lot of pride in my
- 1:26:06nails and like if I woke up to somebody doing that on top of
- 1:26:09just like the disrespect, but the fact that it's my
- 1:26:11fingernail, it's my fingernail, bro.
- 1:26:16We're talking about my fingernails, talking about my
- 1:26:18fingernails, talking about my fingernails.
- 1:26:20I'm talking about the whole hand.
- 1:26:21We're talking about my fingernails.
- 1:26:26I would, I would be like indignant for literally the rest
- 1:26:30of the time I was around that guy.
- 1:26:31I'd be like, yeah, so we're going to torture you 12% because
- 1:26:35you took off my fingernail. That's probably why she's like,
- 1:26:39let's kill him. Like, yeah, like I'm totally on
- 1:26:42board with killing him. He he took off my fingernails.
- 1:26:44Talk about my fingernails. Welcome finger.
- 1:26:46Now talk about practice. Feel like that might need watch
- 1:26:51that? Look up Alan Iverson practice if
- 1:26:54you are curious about what we're referencing here.
- 1:26:57About practice. Practice.
- 1:26:59Not even a game. We're talking about practice.
- 1:27:03Legendary. So OK.
- 1:27:07I think that means it's time for reviews.
- 1:27:10OK it is time for reviews. I pulled one off of IMDb and I
- 1:27:14tried really hard to find one that wasn't just like this is
- 1:27:17the lame saw RIP off. I yeah, I could see why people
- 1:27:21spouting that. So 2 out of 10, like I said,
- 1:27:26this seems to be very much a love it or hate it kind of
- 1:27:30movie. And you can find the same type
- 1:27:31of stuff when you look it up on Dreaded too.
- 1:27:33Really. Yeah, Vile.
- 1:27:36Yes it's vile. Why?
- 1:27:37Not because it's been compared to other torture porn films,
- 1:27:40which it isn't, but because it's excrement, mostly a group of
- 1:27:44people trapped in a property of which they decide very quickly
- 1:27:47there is no escape. Even with multiple instruments
- 1:27:49to aid them in the and a lack of logic.
- 1:27:52If there's a way in, there's a way out.
- 1:27:54The gore is mostly inference at best and the lackluster sound
- 1:27:57editing and soundtrack only further mute the need for
- 1:28:00viewing of this punk arse bitch of a film.
- 1:28:03OK. Cliche acts of even trying to
- 1:28:06review character development would be futile in the least.
- 1:28:09As for the aforementioned twist at the end by previous
- 1:28:12reviewers, there isn't 1. You would have to be branded to
- 1:28:15believe the ending was even remotely twisted.
- 1:28:17This film sucks, basically. I mean, OK, I'll give you
- 1:28:21credit. The soundtrack does kind of
- 1:28:23suck. It's very cheap, which I mean
- 1:28:26low budget. It's kind of, it kind of
- 1:28:28happens. You can probably, I guess it
- 1:28:33depends on how much money you spent on the production, but you
- 1:28:36can get a composer fairly cheap. Didn't we, like I, we heard
- 1:28:41during one of the indie panels at Scarefest, I think it was our
- 1:28:46first year, second year, it was the one with Rob Mellow where
- 1:28:50somebody's like, you can pay John Carpenter $3000 to score
- 1:28:55your film. Yeah, he might not give it his
- 1:28:57all, but you will have a John Carpenter score and he will
- 1:29:00agree to do it. He'll he'll knock it out in the
- 1:29:03afternoon. There's a film that I've been
- 1:29:06getting some extra work going and I know they're proof of
- 1:29:09concept, like short film. One of the actors actually ended
- 1:29:13up scoring it last minute because the composer was out of
- 1:29:17like not able to do it last second.
- 1:29:19So. Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
- 1:29:23Yeah, like I said, there was a music supervisor for this and
- 1:29:27she put all of her music budget towards 2 songs.
- 1:29:30Yeah, but boy, did she use them. Yes.
- 1:29:33Honestly, I if she did do that, we wouldn't get the funny file
- 1:29:39thing though. And that's part of the charm to
- 1:29:41this movie for me. I just kind of like it.
- 1:29:44Yeah, but OK, Sorry, but give them credit or to disagree with
- 1:29:49them on one thing. Though I do feel like that was a
- 1:29:52twist at the end because I didn't expect him to be in on
- 1:29:55it. And I don't know if it's because
- 1:29:58we're both like, that's feast boy.
- 1:30:00Yeah, honestly, the signs were all there.
- 1:30:02And he's been most honestly pleasant, but it's like we
- 1:30:04forgot about the cuts and we forgot about the fact he's like
- 1:30:07generally agreeing with everybody.
- 1:30:09Well, not only that, but he also spearheaded the entire thing in
- 1:30:12the beginning. He's like, OK, so this is what
- 1:30:13we do. Yeah, he's like, OK, we got to.
- 1:30:15We got to stay on track. He let the group guide it, but
- 1:30:17he kind of kept everybody on track.
- 1:30:18He was the tailor, Sheridan, of this group.
- 1:30:20Like he was like, I'm not making any active decisions, but I'm
- 1:30:23going to keep everybody going the way they need to go.
- 1:30:26I like the idea that he probably like proposes.
- 1:30:29He's done this five times. Every single time.
- 1:30:31I'm sure he's trying to get an going in at least one.
- 1:30:34He's like, I mean, we can fuck people.
- 1:30:36Yeah, we can do that. Like it's gonna work.
- 1:30:38One I'm like one of these days I'm gonna get the wargy group.
- 1:30:41Like it's just gonna be sex non-stop.
- 1:30:43He like he heard about the the two couples cuddle puddle at the
- 1:30:47beginning. He's like, there's, there's.
- 1:30:49Potential. Potential, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:51Can I puddle with that cuddle? That was the wrong cuddle with
- 1:30:57that puddle. Can I?
- 1:31:00Can I put up with that cuddle that just?
- 1:31:02Makes it sound like he's standing to the side like.
- 1:31:09Jesse did like the little Jack off motion, like even with the
- 1:31:13explosion. I didn't feel good about it.
- 1:31:15I turned away. I couldn't make our contact with
- 1:31:17you all. I said.
- 1:31:21That's not my proudest. I, you know, I liked it.
- 1:31:24I thought it was really fun, you know?
- 1:31:27Yeah, OK. Were your thoughts on the
- 1:31:30review? I mean, I, I mean, yeah, we
- 1:31:34don't get like a ton of character development, but I do
- 1:31:36think we get an idea of who most of these characters are.
- 1:31:41Yeah, at a base level, I, I'm, I'm honestly, I'm not bothered
- 1:31:47by the soundtrack in this. Like I, I like the two songs we
- 1:31:51get. They're not good songs.
- 1:31:54Realistically speaking. I wouldn't.
- 1:31:56If I ever listen to any of these songs, I'm like, that's going in
- 1:31:59my horror movie. I would never say that, but.
- 1:32:03Every time I've ever played them in the car together, Travis
- 1:32:06goes. Is this that fucking song from
- 1:32:07Vile verbatim? It's just, it wouldn't be my
- 1:32:12choice. It's an interesting choice for a
- 1:32:14horror movie, but you know, I've made an impression, So what do I
- 1:32:18know? I'm not.
- 1:32:19Bothered. All right, so are we ready for
- 1:32:22listener? Reviews, Yes.
- 1:32:23Do we have listener? Reviews we do.
- 1:32:26Yay. We have Michael E Howard.
- 1:32:29Michael, I should have known. I should have known I could
- 1:32:32count on. You true one here.
- 1:32:33All right, so Michael says. First off, I am a sucker for a
- 1:32:37single location game type movies such like Jess.
- 1:32:40Yes, Thank you, Michael. This is my second time seeing
- 1:32:44violence. You've seen it before, Cool and
- 1:32:46think that I like it better. Watching it the second round I
- 1:32:50was impressed with how much of the gore was not shown, but felt
- 1:32:53my biggest criticism was a the sound quality.
- 1:32:57Yes, thank goodness for closed captions because it fluxated so
- 1:33:00bad. You got captions?
- 1:33:01Where were your captions? I'm jealous.
- 1:33:05We had the fucking DVD and we didn't get them.
- 1:33:08It must be on TV. Somebody must have been like
- 1:33:11transcribing furiously behind the scenes.
- 1:33:13Yeah, NB some of the crying felt a bit over the top.
- 1:33:18Decent movie overall. 7 out of 10.
- 1:33:20OK, he's in between the two. He's right on our average.
- 1:33:23Score. Yeah.
- 1:33:24OK, cool. That's perfect.
- 1:33:25I absolutely agree with everything you say there.
- 1:33:28Even with this being a single location movie, this is a single
- 1:33:31location. Movie.
- 1:33:31Oh my God, Travis agrees. It's a single location movie
- 1:33:33even though they have different rooms in the house.
- 1:33:37That's never the thing they but they do have different locations
- 1:33:41in this movie. I if you want to go there.
- 1:33:44Travis, you said that the beach from Old is not a single
- 1:33:46location. It's a single beach and the
- 1:33:48beach from Old. But there was so much away from
- 1:33:51the beach. That happens.
- 1:33:54It's mostly on the beach. Mostly.
- 1:33:57So it's a mostly single location movie.
- 1:33:59Oh my God, yeah. No, this is a single location
- 1:34:01movie. And I'm glad that you brought up
- 1:34:03the exact points that we had with the sound being one and the
- 1:34:08screaming. I didn't really consider that
- 1:34:09before, but you know what? Like I'd have to give it another
- 1:34:13look to see that again, it didn't register with me last
- 1:34:17night, but I could see it maybe being a little over the top.
- 1:34:22With some of them. Yeah, Greg, especially Greg was,
- 1:34:26he was. He was really letting them fly.
- 1:34:28Just I was. Screaming and I'm so glad that
- 1:34:32scene was cut because it was so I was jarring watching it as a
- 1:34:35deleted scene. It was really funny.
- 1:34:38It was, yeah, it was funny, like, but also like, if you're
- 1:34:41gonna peer over somebody's head while they're sleeping, you
- 1:34:43can't be shocked, but they scream at you.
- 1:34:45You've had that? Happen.
- 1:34:46Wait, what? Peering over somebody's head and
- 1:34:48just because like, it's not like he woke up.
- 1:34:50He's like, ah, like he was awake and then she just looked at him
- 1:34:55and then he screamed, no, he woke up.
- 1:34:58Is that what happened? Yeah, she was like Greg, Greg.
- 1:35:01And it startled him awake and he started screaming.
- 1:35:04OK, you do wake up screaming a lot.
- 1:35:06Exactly. I think it's just a you and Greg
- 1:35:09thing because I don't see a lot of people do that.
- 1:35:14OK, Then again, I don't watch a lot of people sleep.
- 1:35:18But it's not that you never watch people sleep.
- 1:35:20I'm not saying that necessarily. Yeah, you know, I'll decline the
- 1:35:26comment. OK.
- 1:35:28OK. So that was the only review that
- 1:35:30we had. OK.
- 1:35:31Yeah, I didn't really. I'm.
- 1:35:33I'm happy that we got one. I didn't.
- 1:35:35I'm honestly shocked that you'd seen this before, Michael, and
- 1:35:40that shouldn't surprise me. We got a lot of true people that
- 1:35:44listen here. Our core group here are good,
- 1:35:46good horror people, so. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:35:49If you haven't checked this out, it's free to stream on TV or
- 1:35:53Plex or Crackle right now. It's a solid watch, yeah.
- 1:35:56Quick and it's fun, yeah. It's not it's not boring, no.
- 1:36:01Okay, so that's it for Vile. Next week we have our Patreon
- 1:36:05voted movie and that is Joyride to get.
- 1:36:09Ahead. Yeah, we're actually in a tie,
- 1:36:12and Talia was the tie breaker. Good Lord, we're front loading
- 1:36:16the new year with straight to DVD horror.
- 1:36:19Yeah, we are. Boy.
- 1:36:22OK, so let me see where we can watch.
- 1:36:24I don't think this is streaming anywhere.
- 1:36:25Probably not. We own it so.
- 1:36:27Yeah, this is one of those movies that never I've, I've
- 1:36:29never seen it stream before. OK, so you can pay less than
- 1:36:34$4.00 to rent it from Prime, YouTube or Fandango at home.
- 1:36:38Those are your watch options. Unless you own it.
- 1:36:41It is possible to go buy the three pack?
- 1:36:44Yeah, the three pack at Walmart, Yeah, and then you get some
- 1:36:49Declan O'Brien O'Connor in the. Third one, yeah, yeah, not the
- 1:36:53best. It's there, let's say.
- 1:36:56Not the worst, but it is definitely the worst of the
- 1:36:59franchise. Oh yeah, it's way, way the worst
- 1:37:02one. And and as is apparently his
- 1:37:05fate in the world, Ken Cruisinger is replacing what's
- 1:37:10his face's rusty nail. Oh oh.
- 1:37:15What is He's always he's always replacing the beloved villain.
- 1:37:19Yeah, Rusty Nell, I feel. Kind of bad for Ken, honestly.
- 1:37:22He does fine, but I don't even remember who the Rusty Nell and
- 1:37:26Joyride 2 is. But you know what?
- 1:37:27Joyride 2 is a good movie. It's a good one.
- 1:37:29So watch it if you can. We recommend it.
- 1:37:31Or you can listen to his talk about it next week.
