- 0:00Speaker 1: These are the stories of our lives, well at least
- 0:03Speaker 1: for today, the ones we didn't get to. It's one more.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Thing that was a strong pitch, the meat of current events,
- 0:14Speaker 2: the potatoes a features stories, then the sweet sweet dessert
- 0:19Speaker 2: of a charming human interest tale.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Katie has brought to us a full meal of cleaning
- 0:23Speaker 1: out the sound.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Fruit kinverridge desert. Are we having with a meat and
- 0:28Speaker 3: potatoes meal? Apple pie?
- 0:31Speaker 4: I was thinking a key lime pie.
- 0:32Speaker 1: But it's a fine pie, you know I've had. We
- 0:37Speaker 1: had friends over for dinner last night, believe it or not.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I cooked excuse me, uh du a little stir fried
- 0:45Speaker 1: spicy shrimp, oh and vegetables on a delightful supportive bed
- 0:51Speaker 1: of rice. And I was kicking myself that we didn't
- 0:56Speaker 1: have perhaps the simplest and most delightful of summer dessert
- 1:00Speaker 1: the strawberry shortcake. Get a little pound cake, some strawberries,
- 1:06Speaker 1: some whipped cream. Damn it, you got a meal. You
- 1:08Speaker 1: can throw a little like syrupee stuff on there if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you want. Strawberry syrve.
- 1:12Speaker 3: The most delightful of summer desserts.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Oh, in my opinion, it is good in terms of
- 1:17Speaker 1: the labor required. My pie. It takes some doing. Strawberry
- 1:21Speaker 1: shortcake requires like a ten minute visit to the grocery store.
- 1:24Speaker 5: My cake lately has been throwing a peach into the
- 1:29Speaker 5: air fryer with some cinnamon sugar on it with a
- 1:31Speaker 5: wave ice cream.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Damn, yeah, that sounds good.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It's so good. Are you throwing the ice cream in
- 1:38Speaker 1: the air fryer too?
- 1:39Speaker 3: That seems like a bad idea.
- 1:40Speaker 1: That's just counterproductive at best.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Yeah, that's all low.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Back when I worked at Cisco's Mexican restaurant in Westmount,
- 1:47Speaker 1: Illinois during my high school and I think maybe one
- 1:50Speaker 1: year at college i worked at Cisco's. I'm not sure,
- 1:52Speaker 1: but anyway, they had deep fried ice cream which was fantastic.
- 1:57Speaker 1: It was ice cream encrusted with like frosted flakes and
- 2:01Speaker 1: the quick fry it and then serve that up with
- 2:05Speaker 1: some chocolate syrup on it. Holy crappings, Are you kidding me?
- 2:09Speaker 3: So quickly? Because we got to get to the sound fridge.
- 2:12Speaker 3: What did you say you do with the peach? Just
- 2:14Speaker 3: cut it in half, take out the pitch a regular
- 2:16Speaker 3: peach like you grabbed it off the tree the tree.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Cut it in half, pop the pit out, cinnamon sugar
- 2:22Speaker 5: stick it in the air fire for like I think
- 2:24Speaker 5: it's eight.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Minutes, and then what happens to it in there?
- 2:26Speaker 4: It just gets nice and warm and soft.
- 2:28Speaker 5: And then you just put a dollop of vanilla ice
- 2:31Speaker 5: cream on there, and god damn.
- 2:34Speaker 1: It so good. And you know, I've got this. I
- 2:41Speaker 1: got this condition where I can't eat pitted fruits raw,
- 2:44Speaker 1: but I can eat them cooked. And I'll bet does
- 2:48Speaker 1: it cook through? Essentially it's like a pie peach.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Oh yeah, completely. You could use it for anything after
- 2:54Speaker 5: that pretty much.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Oh my lord, your condition is intransigence. That's what causes
- 2:59Speaker 3: it that you can't eat pitted fruit.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Well, I do have that condition with this's and not it. Okay,
- 3:06Speaker 1: So let's clean out the sound fridge. A number of
- 3:08Speaker 1: different news stories that we will were through quickly. This
- 3:12Speaker 1: one's self explanatory. We'll start there at Alex Michaelson and CNN.
- 3:18Speaker 6: A jury in New York has found that Live Nation
- 3:21Speaker 6: and ticket Master illegally operated as a monopoly that gouge
- 3:25Speaker 6: customers on ticket prices in several states sued the entertainment
- 3:29Speaker 6: giant for stifling competition and driving up fees for concerts
- 3:32Speaker 6: and sports.
- 3:32Speaker 3: A judge will.
- 3:34Speaker 6: Decide what penalty is to impose, possibly including breaking the
- 3:37Speaker 6: company up.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Live Nation said it does plan to appeal. Yeah, we're
- 3:42Speaker 3: all shocked by this, so will this.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of ticket Master, said nobody ever.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah, no kidding. I used Ticketmaster to go to Springsteen
- 3:49Speaker 3: the other night. Oh, first of all, like to reiterate,
- 3:51Speaker 3: this has nothing to do with this. The step toward
- 3:55Speaker 3: electronic tickets has been a huge step backward in terms
- 3:59Speaker 3: of getting people in to the venue. It's so much
- 4:02Speaker 3: slower than it used to be when people had paper tickets.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Oh, their scanners are trash, so much slower.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Ye.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Anyway, that's not the topic. Is this going to help
- 4:12Speaker 3: any of us? Is this going to do anything for
- 4:15Speaker 3: I just wonder if it's gonna help anything.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I got the idea it would.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Maybe their ridiculous processing fee thing, which is definitely a scam,
- 4:25Speaker 3: but I don't know well, and.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Their ability to consult. They own the venue, they own
- 4:30Speaker 1: the ticketing service, they own the secondary market, they promote
- 4:34Speaker 1: the shows, and all that time. It's pandatory in my opinion.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Let's skip the next one, Michael, Oh, the one more
- 4:40Speaker 3: thing on that, there's talk of they brought this up
- 4:43Speaker 3: on the news last night, of people getting their money
- 4:45Speaker 3: back from tickets they paid too much for, and some
- 4:48Speaker 3: lawyers said, yes, there billions of dollars that people did
- 4:51Speaker 3: not there's you talk about milking the cow and the
- 4:55Speaker 3: lawyers get richer. However, that's saying goes, no way you're
- 4:58Speaker 3: getting any money back from from the Madonna concert you
- 5:01Speaker 3: went to in nineteen ninety six.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Well you'll get eight bucks back and the lawyers will
- 5:05Speaker 1: get one hundred and seventy five. Yeah, that's the way
- 5:07Speaker 1: that works. All right. Let's go to twenty two. Michael
- 5:10Speaker 1: bent Knows, Jackass David Mirror reporting on one of the
- 5:13Speaker 1: hot stories of our day, the.
- 5:14Speaker 7: Case of the wife who disappeared in the Bahamas. Bryan Hooker,
- 5:17Speaker 7: the husband who says she fell off their boat and
- 5:19Speaker 7: was swept away. He's now left the Bahamas after being
- 5:22Speaker 7: released by authorities. That husband vowed to stay until his wife, Lynette,
- 5:25Speaker 7: was found. She disappeared from their boat April fourth, The
- 5:28Speaker 7: husband's attorney reportedly saying the husband's mother back home is
- 5:33Speaker 7: not well.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Hey, change of plans. Oh, it turns out my mom's
- 5:36Speaker 1: not well. I'm not going to stay in Bahamas subject
- 5:38Speaker 1: to arrest by your polace here. So anyway, I have.
- 5:42Speaker 3: A possibly different ticket. Then. I think he probably killed
- 5:44Speaker 3: his wife. But if he didn't kill his wife, you'd
- 5:47Speaker 3: probably realize I'm being hounded all day every day. I
- 5:50Speaker 3: can't even sleep because there are so many reporters after me.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I got to get out of here.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I could see that.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think he probably don't. Right as a
- 6:02Speaker 3: norm McDonald once said about OJ Simpson allegedly and actually right, Oh, brilliant.
- 6:09Speaker 7: Next clip, Michael the Florida doctor has been arrested for
- 6:12Speaker 7: second degree manslaughter and the death of a man who
- 6:14Speaker 7: had the wrong organ removed during surgery. A grand jury
- 6:17Speaker 7: indicting doctor Thomas Schechnovsky in the twenty twenty four incident.
- 6:21Speaker 7: Prosecutor's alleged seventy year old William Bryan was scheduled for
- 6:24Speaker 7: surgery to remove his spleen, but the doctor removed his
- 6:27Speaker 7: liver instead. They say Brian died that night. That doctor
- 6:30Speaker 7: now facing criminal charges.
- 6:33Speaker 1: For what.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Oh, that's a horrible story. I read all about.
- 6:39Speaker 4: It was the guy. Was the doctor drunk? Was this
- 6:42Speaker 4: a mistake?
- 6:42Speaker 3: Did he? I mean, did he sell the liver like
- 6:45Speaker 3: what was going on here. The most amazing part of
- 6:48Speaker 3: it is the people helping him with the surgery realized
- 6:53Speaker 3: he had gotten the liver and not the spleen. That's
- 6:57Speaker 3: what he said. It was, yeah, immediate, but apparently you
- 7:02Speaker 3: can't just take somebody's liver out like that, and blood
- 7:05Speaker 3: was going everywhere and the person died. But then he
- 7:08Speaker 3: tried to label the liver when he took it out
- 7:10Speaker 3: and put it on the tray, he demanded they label
- 7:13Speaker 3: it a spleen. And that's how he got caught because
- 7:15Speaker 3: they were like, I'm not calling this a spleen. This
- 7:19Speaker 3: is obviously a liver. Yeah, so he tried to cover
- 7:23Speaker 3: it up after he did it.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I'm looking at the chart of the liver and spleen.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Oh my lord, I mean that's that's They live in
- 7:33Speaker 1: the same neighborhood. But the liver a is gigantic. He
- 7:35Speaker 1: sounds like he's crazy, least mine is. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:42Speaker 1: oh man, that's horrible, horrible.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a rough story. Somebody's gonna get a lot
- 7:47Speaker 3: of money.
- 7:49Speaker 1: All right. One more from the Jackass.
- 7:52Speaker 7: A dirty block of ice falling through the roof of
- 7:54Speaker 7: a home in Los Angeles County take a look. The
- 7:56Speaker 7: homeowner says it landed on the couch, put a hole
- 7:58Speaker 7: right in the roof there.
- 7:59Speaker 3: No one was hurt.
- 8:00Speaker 7: The homeowner says a plane was over the home at
- 8:02Speaker 7: the time of the incident. The FAA is investigating.
- 8:04Speaker 3: A plane was over the home at the time of
- 8:06Speaker 3: the incident.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Plane whiz.
- 8:09Speaker 3: So it was one of those flozen frozen blocks of
- 8:11Speaker 3: excrement crash the roof.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, got something crashes.
- 8:15Speaker 3: To my roof. I'm hoping for a meteorite or something
- 8:18Speaker 3: cool and exciting, not a big block of kaka. That's right, Jack,
- 8:25Speaker 3: I mean everyone is in agreement with you.
- 8:31Speaker 1: That is a bad turn of events. Well, like, if
- 8:33Speaker 1: it's a meteor meteorite that could be worth money.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and it's cool in a you know, hopefully
- 8:39Speaker 3: you don't get killed or whatever.
- 8:40Speaker 1: But it's a hell of a story. Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Block of poo not not so cool.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I just that it's literally a block of poo. Would
- 8:50Speaker 1: you imagine whatever you like? Yeah, you won't get much
- 8:52Speaker 1: for that.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not worth anything.
- 8:55Speaker 1: And uh, what's my new slogan? Everyone's a grifter and
- 8:59Speaker 1: everything's clickbait. Here's some grifters who've seats a bit smirched
- 9:04Speaker 1: rather the name of Santa Claus.
- 9:06Speaker 8: The organizer of New York City's charity Barcrawl Santa Con
- 9:10Speaker 8: that Stefan Pildee's has been arrested and charged with stealing
- 9:13Speaker 8: more than a million dollars meant for others. Officials say
- 9:17Speaker 8: he used Santa Con money to pay for home renovations,
- 9:20Speaker 8: fancy vacations, even a luxury car. Pilde's has pleaded not guilty.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Yeah, these morons, Well they're morons, so it shouldn't be surprising.
- 9:31Speaker 3: They always buy like luxury cars.
- 9:34Speaker 4: You idiots.
- 9:34Speaker 3: You're already skating on the edge of uh pulling this off.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Don't go out and buy a luxury car, you idiots. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 3: go out and buy a two thousand and eight Camra
- 9:49Speaker 3: if you need a car.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Right. Well, they're idiots and they're pieces of crap. But
- 9:54Speaker 1: I always enjoy the list of the things they buy
- 9:57Speaker 1: when honestly, all you have to say is stuff they wanted.
- 10:01Speaker 3: But my stuff that's outside their income range that they
- 10:05Speaker 3: don't normally do. I mean, oh, you went to Europe
- 10:08Speaker 3: and got a Mercedes on your You've never done anything
- 10:11Speaker 3: like this in your whole life, You idiots.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yeah see Goodfellas Place Place, great movie, Pink Cadillac one
- 10:21Speaker 1: of the mobsters I bought for his wife. Yeah idiots. Wow,
- 10:25Speaker 1: let's see. Speaking of mobbed up, the trash removal industry
- 10:29Speaker 1: comes to the eye of CBS News here.
- 10:33Speaker 8: A dispute over an unpaid bill led to a real
- 10:35Speaker 8: mess in California. A Bay Area trash removal service apparently
- 10:39Speaker 8: not happy when a customer couldn't pay, and you can
- 10:42Speaker 8: see what the driver did about it, tilting an entire
- 10:45Speaker 8: load onto the front lawn. Police reportedly made him clear
- 10:49Speaker 8: it off the sidewalk.
- 10:51Speaker 1: At least this.
- 10:52Speaker 5: Was an entire industrial dumpster of trash. The visual was
- 10:57Speaker 5: kind of hilarious.
- 10:58Speaker 3: How mobbed up Tony Soprano is there? No, how poly
- 11:02Speaker 3: walnuts is that?
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, you know.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I said bad things about the garbage collectors in my
- 11:09Speaker 3: town a while back, and all of a sudden my
- 11:12Speaker 3: garbage wasn't getting picked up. Really, I don't like it
- 11:16Speaker 3: could have just been a coincidence, but hmmm, we'll show you. Yeah, huh,
- 11:24Speaker 3: First they do that, then they dump the trash on
- 11:26Speaker 3: your lawn, then horsehead in your bed.
- 11:30Speaker 5: You guys ever watched the Uh, the trash malfunction the
- 11:33Speaker 5: trash truck malfunction videos.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Uh like the clock hobby.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I find weird pregnancy thing.
- 11:43Speaker 5: You know, I've I've enjoyed a few of these videos
- 11:46Speaker 5: while pregnant. But the clock comes, comes out of the
- 11:48Speaker 5: truck and grabs the trash can and something goes wrong
- 11:51Speaker 5: with the truck and it just starts throwing trash mans
- 11:55Speaker 5: So funny.
- 11:56Speaker 1: All right, you got me trash malfunction videos.
- 12:00Speaker 3: That's great. I'll do that with the kids this weekend.
- 12:02Speaker 3: We'll probably laughter.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh my god, that really sounds a feeling, Katie.
- 12:08Speaker 3: How did it occur to you to search for that though?
- 12:10Speaker 4: If you two suggested it for me, okay, it knows me.
- 12:13Speaker 3: What does that mean that YouTube suggested that for you?
- 12:17Speaker 5: I like chaos in my video, so like public freakouts
- 12:21Speaker 5: all that type of stuff, And that's a good one.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:23Speaker 1: If you're a fan of McDonald's fights, go to public freakout. Yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And finally, a heartwarming strawberry shortcake of a story.
- 12:33Speaker 9: Westlake police at the home of a ninety one year
- 12:35Speaker 9: old woman Thursday night. We're gonna make entry police her
- 12:41Speaker 9: family all unable to get a hold of the homeowner.
- 12:44Speaker 3: What's like pic what happens next?
- 12:46Speaker 1: No one would have guessed. Turned out to be all okay.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Everyone got a good laugh out of it with her.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Now she's playing video games in her bedroom.
- 12:53Speaker 9: Police say, not just playing video games, but trying to
- 12:56Speaker 9: beat her record level in the process, missing those attempts
- 13:00Speaker 9: to check in on her.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Ninety one year old woman obsessed with video games, not
- 13:06Speaker 1: answering her calls.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Yeah, she didn't answer the call for for apparently it
- 13:11Speaker 5: was over twenty four hours.
- 13:12Speaker 4: She wasn't answering any calls.
- 13:14Speaker 5: Because she was trying to beat her video game record order.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Their red eyed shoulders staring at her screen, eat the
- 13:20Speaker 1: boxes everywhere exactly.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I wonder what her favorite games are the controller damn it.
- 13:26Speaker 4: I couldn't find it.
- 13:28Speaker 5: I'm just picturing her playing like Call of Duty or
- 13:30Speaker 5: something like some sort.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Of like Grand Theft Auto Prohibition era style soft.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Horse right organ trail y a de kaiser.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Try not to get scalped as you get across the
- 13:46Speaker 3: great plane. I did it in real life, Sureley, I
- 13:50Speaker 3: couldn't do it on the stamp team. Oh scalped again? Wow, Well,
- 13:58Speaker 3: I guess that's it. She is old you see
