- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome in to jag Zam.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Kind of the seasons here with Brian Sexton and John
- 0:20Speaker 2: oser I and a lot of things happening in the
- 0:22Speaker 2: off season, so we got some good stuff to talk
- 0:23Speaker 2: about today. So it's for you are big things and
- 0:26Speaker 2: big Thing number one and there's a big person. It's
- 0:28Speaker 2: here to stay because Trayvon Walker has signed a four
- 0:30Speaker 2: year extension, meeting with the front office over the off season,
- 0:34Speaker 2: getting a deal done and he's excited that he has
- 0:36Speaker 2: that kind of back and forth and rapport with the
- 0:38Speaker 2: front office.
- 0:40Speaker 3: It really means a lot, cause, like you said, getting
- 0:42Speaker 3: a new staff in, like you, it's always that uncertainty
- 0:45Speaker 3: and coming into the and when they first got here,
- 0:48Speaker 3: I f I feel like they did a great job
- 0:50Speaker 3: of just communicating with me think of things, and that
- 0:53Speaker 3: kind of already put in respective to how that relationship
- 0:56Speaker 3: was gonna go. Sometimes you never really know how it's
- 0:58Speaker 3: gonna go. But every since they've been there, I feel
- 1:01Speaker 3: like we on my end and then we've been transparent
- 1:03Speaker 3: with each other and we just have cordial conversation to
- 1:06Speaker 3: where we can all just be comfortable. And that was
- 1:08Speaker 3: one of Liam's main things that like say, what's only
- 1:11Speaker 3: speak your mind and we'll go from there.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Brian, I think we all expected this to happen, but
- 1:16Speaker 2: when you have changes in the front office, you don't
- 1:18Speaker 2: know if their perspectives on players are going to be
- 1:20Speaker 2: the same. But Liam Cohen coming in James Gladstone, they
- 1:23Speaker 2: clearly feel the same about Treyvon Walker. Now he's going
- 1:25Speaker 2: to be here through twenty thirty, you know, Kay.
- 1:27Speaker 4: One of the first things that James Gladstone started talking
- 1:30Speaker 4: about when he was announced as the general manager was
- 1:33Speaker 4: Jaguars DNA, and they were going to define that through
- 1:35Speaker 4: the players that they acquired and obviously through some of
- 1:38Speaker 4: the players that they had. I wrote that in my
- 1:40Speaker 4: notebook Jaggs DNA and I started writing names and the
- 1:43Speaker 4: first name I wrote was Tony Biselli, obviously, and the
- 1:45Speaker 4: next one was Fred Taylor, and the next one was
- 1:47Speaker 4: Trayvon Walker.
- 1:48Speaker 5: John, we talked about this a little bit.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Last week about it was probably coming and when would
- 1:52Speaker 4: it happen. To me, it didn't matter when it happened
- 1:56Speaker 4: as much as it mattered that it happened, because this
- 1:58Speaker 4: guy just absolutely defined the caliber of person and caliber
- 2:03Speaker 4: of player that you pay to create your culture, your standard,
- 2:07Speaker 4: your DNA.
- 2:08Speaker 6: Yeah, James Glanstowe talked about intangibly rich players. Trayvon sort
- 2:14Speaker 6: of defines that, and now he's tangibly rich. And I'll
- 2:19Speaker 6: apologize to the ozone reader who first emailed that over
- 2:22Speaker 6: the weekend for stealing that.
- 2:23Speaker 7: But look, it's not really a surprise.
- 2:26Speaker 6: Like people outside always want to look at sacks with
- 2:31Speaker 6: Trayvon because he's a defensive end, and his sack numbers
- 2:34Speaker 6: when he's been healthy have been fine, but there's always
- 2:37Speaker 6: sort of this hyper criticism about the couple of things
- 2:40Speaker 6: in terms of big sack numbers that he's not.
- 2:45Speaker 7: It's what he is that matters to this franchise.
- 2:48Speaker 6: And after meeting Liam Cohen and James Gladstone and knowing
- 2:51Speaker 6: Tony BISSELLI, I would have been sort of stunned if
- 2:54Speaker 6: that group hadn't said we need this kind of player
- 2:58Speaker 6: person I always think of the house. Trayvon is the
- 3:03Speaker 6: foundation of the house. This team wants to be tough
- 3:06Speaker 6: under Liam Cohen. He's your toughest player.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Just one more thought on where he ranks and how
- 3:12Speaker 4: he is how I see him right, he may not
- 3:15Speaker 4: be that elite pass rusher. The guy's going to give
- 3:17Speaker 4: you seventeen sacks, like Michaeh Parsons is for Green Bay,
- 3:21Speaker 4: like Aiden Hutchinson does for the Lions. But John he's
- 3:24Speaker 4: an elite defensive player. I mean the way that he
- 3:28Speaker 4: plays the run, the fourth quarter stops. We saw kay
- 3:31Speaker 4: late in the season last year, the play that he
- 3:33Speaker 4: injured the knee on right where he took the tight
- 3:35Speaker 4: end for the Chargers and the right tackle and drove
- 3:38Speaker 4: them all the way to the sideline to take the
- 3:41Speaker 4: running back down for a one yard loss. The guy's
- 3:43Speaker 4: an elite defensive player. And you need those kinds of guys.
- 3:47Speaker 4: You don't find it very often.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Foundation player and you don't mess with the foundation. I
- 3:51Speaker 2: know not a ton about houses, but I know that much.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Our second big thing today is going to be home
- 3:55Speaker 2: away from home because finally the news has come out
- 3:58Speaker 2: we are going to be playing in or Orlando in
- 4:00Speaker 2: the year that they play away in twenty twenty seven,
- 4:03Speaker 2: and Tony Vasilli talked a little bit about having that
- 4:05Speaker 2: home away from home.
- 4:07Speaker 5: And that's how we feel. I mean, we think, listen,
- 4:09Speaker 5: number one, we.
- 4:10Speaker 8: Think a lot of our fans will.
- 4:11Speaker 7: Come down from Jacksonville.
- 4:12Speaker 5: We think we have a.
- 4:13Speaker 8: Ton of fans and Orlando. We also know that there's
- 4:17Speaker 8: a ton of NFL fans here and then that with
- 4:20Speaker 8: the you combine that with an amount of visiting teams
- 4:23Speaker 8: are gonna want to come to the to Orlando to
- 4:26Speaker 8: watch their team play. I mean it's a great opportunity.
- 4:29Speaker 8: I mean it's somebody with has five kids. I spot
- 4:31Speaker 8: quite a bit of time on nine to five.
- 4:33Speaker 5: And four head to Disney, so we're familiar with it.
- 4:36Speaker 8: I know my family is excited about coming down to
- 4:38Speaker 8: watching the NFL and watching the Jaguars play here.
- 4:42Speaker 2: John not an ideal situation and not be playing in Jacksonville.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Nobody wanted that, but this was kind of the next
- 4:46Speaker 2: best thing and the best situation for this team.
- 4:49Speaker 6: Well I got I got some emails from people not
- 4:54Speaker 6: following it incredibly closely. Maybe oh, disappointed they're not playing
- 4:58Speaker 6: in Jacksonville. Well, look, there was have to be a
- 5:00Speaker 6: season away from jackson want to make this work, and
- 5:03Speaker 6: the Jaguars worked really hard not to make that two seasons,
- 5:06Speaker 6: So considering you had to have one away, I think
- 5:10Speaker 6: the city and I mean the Jaguars were fortunate to
- 5:14Speaker 6: have a city so close that was able to house
- 5:18Speaker 6: an NFL team there are certain parameters in terms of
- 5:21Speaker 6: broadcasting the game, in terms of being able to host
- 5:25Speaker 6: a game and hotel space, and had you been in
- 5:31Speaker 6: the middle of nowhere, that could have been a five
- 5:33Speaker 6: or six hour deal. So it's not ideal, but it
- 5:39Speaker 6: was the thing that made the most sense, and you'll
- 5:42Speaker 6: put your head down and get through it.
- 5:43Speaker 4: I came over the heart Bridge this morning and as
- 5:46Speaker 4: you go down Bay Street you see the Four Seasons hotel,
- 5:49Speaker 4: which looks like it's getting close to being done, and
- 5:51Speaker 4: the office building and the cranes all over the stadium.
- 5:54Speaker 4: And the short term pain of having to play a
- 5:57Speaker 4: season in Orlando two hours away is just so it's dwarfed.
- 6:02Speaker 5: By the long term gain.
- 6:04Speaker 4: John, you were here the day the franchise was awarded.
- 6:06Speaker 4: I came shortly thereafter. For decades we have talked about
- 6:09Speaker 4: this franchise and its viability in terms of being able
- 6:12Speaker 4: to not only compete, but to compete at the highest
- 6:15Speaker 4: level with teams from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago in Dallas.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Now the opportunity exists for the Jaguars to have that
- 6:22Speaker 4: sort of stability and consistency that we always wondered they
- 6:27Speaker 4: would they be able to have that in a league
- 6:29Speaker 4: where the big markets were growing so exponentially. If you
- 6:32Speaker 4: have the ability, and many people don't because you don't
- 6:34Speaker 4: live in North Florida. Just drive through downtown Jacksonville and
- 6:37Speaker 4: just look at all the cranes and all the buildings
- 6:40Speaker 4: that are going up. This thing is stable. Short term,
- 6:44Speaker 4: having to deal with Orlando is so infinitesely small compared
- 6:48Speaker 4: to the stability and the opportunity to exist for this
- 6:51Speaker 4: franchise to play here for your grandchildren's grandchildren.
- 6:54Speaker 5: It's real.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It's real, and it's coming, and I'll be here soon,
- 6:58Speaker 2: very much excited for that. Our final big thing today
- 7:00Speaker 2: going to be draft room, because you get caught up
- 7:03Speaker 2: in some other things. But the draft is right around
- 7:04Speaker 2: the corner, and it will look different this year, Brian.
- 7:07Speaker 2: They don't have that first round pick. They have a
- 7:09Speaker 2: lot in the second round. That's kind of a sweet
- 7:11Speaker 2: spot for them. But the focus is different. I think
- 7:14Speaker 2: everything involved with the draft a little bit different. No
- 7:16Speaker 2: draft party this year, obviously with no first round pick,
- 7:19Speaker 2: but this is kind of where you want to be.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I don't want to be focusing as much on this
- 7:22Speaker 2: being an exciting time as more of a building.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Block time well, and I think we saw last year
- 7:27Speaker 4: with what James Gladstone, Visselli and Cohen were able to
- 7:29Speaker 4: do to find good football players in the third and
- 7:32Speaker 4: fourth round, even deeper than that, guys that were excited
- 7:35Speaker 4: about who could come on and really make a difference.
- 7:38Speaker 5: You got four the top hundred picks. John, I mean.
- 7:40Speaker 4: You're weighing it at fifty six, which there's not all
- 7:43Speaker 4: that sex appeal of being in the first round, but
- 7:46Speaker 4: you have fifty six, eighty one, eighty eight and one hundred,
- 7:49Speaker 4: which means Day two of the draft you have an
- 7:51Speaker 4: opportunity to find four future starters. Those are valuable picks
- 7:57Speaker 4: and there's a lot of real estate for the Jaguars
- 7:59Speaker 4: to maneuver on Day two if.
- 8:01Speaker 5: They want to.
- 8:02Speaker 6: Yeah, Jags fans understandably, and I think we've fallen into
- 8:07Speaker 6: have always this has been a cool time of year
- 8:11Speaker 6: for fifteen years, because in a lot of years it
- 8:13Speaker 6: was the only cool time of year. This is when
- 8:17Speaker 6: contending teams they do their job. But it's not always
- 8:24Speaker 6: splashy on draft Day because you usually have the twenty
- 8:26Speaker 6: ninth pick and it's a much lower profile pick than
- 8:30Speaker 6: top ten. If you're bored and sort of disinterested in
- 8:34Speaker 6: the draft as a fan this year. Hope that you
- 8:38Speaker 6: can get used to that, because that's what you want
- 8:41Speaker 6: to be.
- 8:41Speaker 7: In terms of the first round.
- 8:42Speaker 6: But Brian's right, this is a team right now that
- 8:46Speaker 6: can really get rich and do well second three, third
- 8:50Speaker 6: round picks. I think they're probably more excited about the
- 8:54Speaker 6: draft than the normal fan is.
- 8:56Speaker 2: It's different, but it's definitely a good place to be. Yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 2: stay with here on DAGs and we're going to talk
- 9:00Speaker 2: more a little bit about the season away in Orlando.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Will also check in with Zvon Hamilton see what he's
- 9:05Speaker 2: up to in the off season. Welcome into our off
- 9:15Speaker 2: season check ins where we checking with your favorite Jaguars
- 9:17Speaker 2: players see what they're getting up to in the off season.
- 9:19Speaker 2: So I wanted to check in with defensive tackle Davon Hamilton.
- 9:22Speaker 1: What's your off season like, Devon?
- 9:24Speaker 2: Do you kind of fully shut off from football, take
- 9:26Speaker 2: a break, hang out with the family or do you
- 9:28Speaker 2: still kind of pay attention a little bit and like
- 9:30Speaker 2: ease into it.
- 9:32Speaker 9: Come a little bit of both. I would say definitely
- 9:35Speaker 9: have to take some time off and enjoy the family,
- 9:38Speaker 9: enjoy some trips here and there, but definitely been working
- 9:41Speaker 9: hard and you know, training getting ready for this upcoming season.
- 9:45Speaker 1: God a great year.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Last year kind of felt like you got back to
- 9:48Speaker 2: you know, maybe twenty twenty two form when you were
- 9:50Speaker 2: at your best. And did it feel like you were
- 9:53Speaker 2: back to your normal self. I know we talked a
- 9:54Speaker 2: little bit about this during the season, kind of bounding
- 9:57Speaker 2: your way back from the injury heading twenty twenty three,
- 10:00Speaker 2: But did it feel like you were kind of getting
- 10:01Speaker 2: back to where you wanted to be and kind of
- 10:03Speaker 2: being in fine form?
- 10:04Speaker 1: You know, season six, for.
- 10:06Speaker 9: Sure, I felt really really good and you know, just
- 10:09Speaker 9: really going out there and just having fun. So I
- 10:11Speaker 9: felt like that was my biggest emphasis last year.
- 10:14Speaker 2: When you have a year like that, do you try
- 10:16Speaker 2: to like repeat that in the off season kind of
- 10:18Speaker 2: do what you did before? Do you kind of just
- 10:20Speaker 2: take it as it is and maybe change things if
- 10:23Speaker 2: you feel like you need to, but do whatever.
- 10:25Speaker 1: You know, training staff might.
- 10:26Speaker 9: Say, Yeah, I feel like there's a lot of like
- 10:29Speaker 9: just improvements, you know, work on what you already have,
- 10:32Speaker 9: but also try to improve some areas you're a little
- 10:34Speaker 9: bit weaker in the year before. So it's kind of
- 10:36Speaker 9: what I've been doing.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Had some fine moments we all remember, of course, and
- 10:40Speaker 2: you're batting down pass in Las Vegas to save the game.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And then also some long snapping duties. Do you do
- 10:46Speaker 1: any of that stuff in the.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Off season or that's kind of like maybe some training
- 10:48Speaker 2: camp we work on long snapping if we have to.
- 10:50Speaker 9: And I know you he's like riding a bike, you know,
- 10:52Speaker 9: he always got in your bag. So I'll practice a
- 10:55Speaker 9: little bit, but not too much, you know, it's not
- 10:57Speaker 9: the main emphasis.
- 10:58Speaker 7: Of what I do.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I love your point of view.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Obviously getting drafted in twenty twenty and being with the
- 11:03Speaker 2: team through so many different kind of eras during that time.
- 11:07Speaker 2: What has the last year been like with you know,
- 11:09Speaker 2: the change in the front office of James Gladstone and
- 11:12Speaker 2: Tony Bisellie, but then also the new coaching staff starting
- 11:15Speaker 2: with Liam Cohen. What's this change been like and does
- 11:17Speaker 2: it feel a little bit different than maybe some of
- 11:19Speaker 2: the others.
- 11:20Speaker 9: There's definitely a change, you know, Like you said, I've
- 11:22Speaker 9: definitely been into a lot a lot of changes since
- 11:24Speaker 9: I've been here in Jacksonville, and this is definitely a
- 11:27Speaker 9: change for the better. I think our team's gonna enjoy
- 11:30Speaker 9: this a lot and we're going to win a lot
- 11:31Speaker 9: of games and fans going to enjoy it a lot.
- 11:34Speaker 9: So it's been really exciting seeing all the changes going
- 11:37Speaker 9: on recently.
- 11:38Speaker 2: From the outside, we feel like we've seen a lot
- 11:40Speaker 2: of the buy in, and part of that, at least
- 11:42Speaker 2: on the defensive side of the ball, has been coach
- 11:44Speaker 2: Camp who everybody kind of has a different perspective of him,
- 11:49Speaker 2: but he's just so intense and you know, he was
- 11:51Speaker 2: getting interviews for head coaching positions, but he's going to.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Be back this year.
- 11:55Speaker 2: What is it about him that kind of brings everybody together?
- 11:58Speaker 1: And his personality.
- 12:00Speaker 9: I feel like the juicy brings for sure, but I
- 12:02Speaker 9: feel like he just ultimately really cares about you as
- 12:05Speaker 9: a person, and I feel like that that goes along
- 12:07Speaker 9: way with players. You know. You know, a lot of
- 12:09Speaker 9: this is obviously we played football for a living and
- 12:12Speaker 9: this is what we want to do. But I mean,
- 12:13Speaker 9: caring about somebody's family and their overall health and how
- 12:18Speaker 9: they're doing on a day to day basis is really
- 12:20Speaker 9: the big thing we can't.
- 12:22Speaker 1: On the field.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Are you excited to kind of have that continuity the
- 12:26Speaker 2: defense played you know, really well last year and to
- 12:28Speaker 2: have that.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Continue into this season. What are you most looking forward to?
- 12:31Speaker 9: Oh, you know, just win more games, honestly, I mean,
- 12:34Speaker 9: I feel like we have the ability to do so,
- 12:36Speaker 9: but they just got to put out there on tape.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I feel like you got the taste of it now.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I feel like getting into the playoffs and the way
- 12:43Speaker 2: they finished the regular season on the wind streak, it
- 12:46Speaker 2: felt like everyone expected to be there too. So, like,
- 12:49Speaker 2: do you feel that a little bit of a culture
- 12:50Speaker 2: shift where winnings now like kind of an expectation doesn't
- 12:53Speaker 2: feel like as exciting in that regard.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Obviously want to win, but it feels like this is
- 12:57Speaker 1: what we should be doing for sure.
- 12:58Speaker 9: I mean, that's kind of what we been shriving for
- 13:00Speaker 9: for many years now, and you know, sometimes we've fallen
- 13:03Speaker 9: short in the past years. But I feel like that's
- 13:06Speaker 9: the culture that Liam brings to the to the game
- 13:09Speaker 9: and to meetings every single day and you know, emphasize
- 13:12Speaker 9: every single day. So I think that's the big cultural
- 13:15Speaker 9: change in the in the Jags locker room.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Now, the draft's coming up in a couple of weeks.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Do you remember that time for you? What was that
- 13:23Speaker 2: time kind of like getting ready for the draft, and
- 13:26Speaker 2: then kind of having draft day come around for you.
- 13:29Speaker 9: It was it was very different. You know, I was
- 13:31Speaker 9: expecting a lot of different things. But obviously COVID happened
- 13:34Speaker 9: when I came into the league, and uh, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 9: there was a lot of sitting waiting and trying to
- 13:39Speaker 9: figure out what's going on. I was actually in Orange,
- 13:43Speaker 9: Orange County when it first happened. Okay, so that was
- 13:46Speaker 9: very interesting. Having to move back to Ohio and kind
- 13:49Speaker 9: of sit for a while and when are we going
- 13:51Speaker 9: to start? No one knows, And getting drafted sitting at
- 13:54Speaker 9: home was a little different. You know, no no partying
- 13:58Speaker 9: or anything like that. So it was it was very strange,
- 14:01Speaker 9: but the end of the day, it was worth It.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Worked out the way you wanted. You got drafted, for sure.
- 14:08Speaker 2: You guys leading back in the building soon for off
- 14:10Speaker 2: season programming in a little bit, and obviously the rookies
- 14:14Speaker 2: will be coming in in a couple of weeks. Do
- 14:16Speaker 2: you kind of like that role now that you've been
- 14:17Speaker 2: in I mean, it'll be your seventh season right coming up,
- 14:20Speaker 2: so kind of play that a little bit of a
- 14:21Speaker 2: veteran role with some of the younger guys coming in.
- 14:24Speaker 9: Yeah, for sure, I mean, I feel like my rookie
- 14:27Speaker 9: yar was just a couple of years ago, you know
- 14:28Speaker 9: what I mean, Like it doesn't feel so long. It's
- 14:31Speaker 9: kind of a strange way to strange place to step
- 14:34Speaker 9: into because you know, I just feel like I'm still
- 14:38Speaker 9: learning too, so trying to teach the young guys and
- 14:41Speaker 9: still trying to learn yourself.
- 14:42Speaker 5: It's pretty unique.
- 14:44Speaker 1: It'll be a good experience though, and we'll be excited
- 14:46Speaker 1: to see you back in a couple of weeks. Oh yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 1: that was our off season catch up with defensive tackle
- 14:50Speaker 1: Devon Hamilton. Stay with us here.
- 14:52Speaker 10: We'll have more for you coming up on Jack Sam.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Frits, Welcome back into jag Zam.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Today.
- 15:08Speaker 2: We're going to get some of John Oser's wisdom on
- 15:11Speaker 2: all topics.
- 15:12Speaker 7: Do you like it or not?
- 15:13Speaker 2: We have the resource, why not tap into it. Let's
- 15:16Speaker 2: check in with JT from Palmcoast. He says, Hey, John,
- 15:19Speaker 2: it's very nice to see Trayvon get his money. It's
- 15:22Speaker 2: a fair deal that doesn't set us back. Glad we
- 15:24Speaker 2: paid him a year early instead of a year too late.
- 15:26Speaker 2: A good deal all around.
- 15:28Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 6: I kind of thought they paid him at exactly the
- 15:31Speaker 6: right time. I kind of get what he's saying, and
- 15:34Speaker 6: if you'd waited one more year, then maybe he comes
- 15:38Speaker 6: back he's healthy. I expect him to, if not be
- 15:42Speaker 6: a ten sack guy when healthy, to feel like a
- 15:46Speaker 6: ten sack guy, meaning to get the kind of quarterback
- 15:49Speaker 6: pressure that he got in what twenty three and twenty
- 15:51Speaker 6: four when he was healthy and had ten sacks each season.
- 15:55Speaker 6: It was the right time to do it. I didn't
- 15:57Speaker 6: get another email about boy, they're signing guys quickly. They
- 16:02Speaker 6: signed to Kobe Myers quickly. To me, they've been doing
- 16:06Speaker 6: things in even colv and Landon. They've been signing these
- 16:10Speaker 6: guys at the right time, and they've been signing these
- 16:12Speaker 6: guys because they're core players. I thought the timing on
- 16:15Speaker 6: Trayvon considering too briant. The regime didn't really know him
- 16:20Speaker 6: last year, so to have re upped the major contract
- 16:23Speaker 6: before he saw him play.
- 16:25Speaker 7: I can see why they waited.
- 16:27Speaker 6: Now both sides are comfortable with each other, so this
- 16:29Speaker 6: is sort of when I thought it would happen.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Was the reason it's right is because they saw him
- 16:33Speaker 4: play two weeks after having surgery on a dislocated risk
- 16:37Speaker 4: that he suffered in the game in San Francisco.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Are you kidding? I mean, think about that for a moment.
- 16:42Speaker 4: His punch against a defensive offensive tackle or a tight
- 16:47Speaker 4: end is so valuable to him, so important to him,
- 16:50Speaker 4: And he had surgery and he's out there playing. And
- 16:52Speaker 4: then to complicate that in November six, seven weeks later,
- 16:55Speaker 4: is the knee right and he's having to wear a brace.
- 16:58Speaker 4: So the entire left side of his body is somewhat
- 17:00Speaker 4: weakened by the fact that he's not at full strength
- 17:03Speaker 4: and he's out there playing. Sign me up for those
- 17:05Speaker 4: kinds of gods and listen, I agree with you. I
- 17:07Speaker 4: think Drayvon Walker in a normal year is a ten
- 17:09Speaker 4: sack guy. Right year in and year out, he is
- 17:12Speaker 4: a ten sack guy, which I think, if he plays
- 17:15Speaker 4: long enough, could one day make him the Jaguars all
- 17:18Speaker 4: time sack leader. Just consistency of being able to play, Yeah,
- 17:22Speaker 4: I would.
- 17:23Speaker 6: Expect him to event to hold that record.
- 17:26Speaker 5: Yep.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Just the consistency has been impressive for me as well.
- 17:29Speaker 2: And I think economically, when we look at the contract,
- 17:33Speaker 2: it feels like they're signing guys. Even in Jakobe. When
- 17:35Speaker 2: you look at that, they're signing guys they want to keep.
- 17:38Speaker 2: They're doing it in a way that they can still
- 17:39Speaker 2: build around the rest of the team. We're not seeing
- 17:42Speaker 2: these record setting deals where then it's hamstringing them with
- 17:44Speaker 2: anything else. This is very much a long term goal
- 17:47Speaker 2: and a situation where they're trying to build the entire core.
- 17:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:50Speaker 6: Well, well to Kobe and Colevan Landon, I understand how
- 17:55Speaker 6: you're looking at from the outside. It looked quick, but
- 17:58Speaker 6: they're both going to be free agents in this season.
- 18:00Speaker 6: So with Jacoby, you knew immediately when they signed Jacoby
- 18:06Speaker 6: to the extension in what November I guess it was,
- 18:09Speaker 6: I was like, well, thank goodness they did that because
- 18:12Speaker 6: you saw what he was doing. You saw what kind
- 18:14Speaker 6: of guy was Covid land In the same way had
- 18:17Speaker 6: he hit free agency.
- 18:19Speaker 7: They signed him what early January?
- 18:21Speaker 6: My guess is that price was going to accelerate as
- 18:23Speaker 6: you got closer to March fifteenth.
- 18:25Speaker 4: When I think of Bears pointing out, we both didn't
- 18:27Speaker 4: we all have the same reaction last year when Michael
- 18:30Speaker 4: Parsons got his forty seven million dollars a year deal
- 18:33Speaker 4: and Aiden Hutchinson got his big deal. Could the Jaguars
- 18:36Speaker 4: find a way to make this work with the number
- 18:39Speaker 4: one overall pick and a guy that's very productive, and
- 18:42Speaker 4: they found a deal that worked for everybody. They found
- 18:44Speaker 4: a value that he was comfortable with, that they were
- 18:46Speaker 4: comfortable with. There was a time where I wondered if
- 18:48Speaker 4: they'd be able to get it done. So the fact
- 18:49Speaker 4: that they did well in advanced because you and I
- 18:52Speaker 4: talked last week, when does this happen? We were thinking
- 18:54Speaker 4: a training camp sometime during the season to get it
- 18:57Speaker 4: done now so that you can go into the draft
- 18:59Speaker 4: and you can focus on your salary cap and having
- 19:01Speaker 4: everything fit together.
- 19:02Speaker 5: Well, they're in a good spot.
- 19:04Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think my guess is that I don't
- 19:08Speaker 6: talk to agents anymore in my current role. But my
- 19:13Speaker 6: guess is had Trayvon said no, I'm not gonna sign
- 19:17Speaker 6: with Jacksonville gone and hit the market, I think he
- 19:22Speaker 6: would have been the highest paid player in whatever free
- 19:24Speaker 6: agent class he comes out, the bidding war probably would
- 19:27Speaker 6: have skyrocket his money past what he got. I don't
- 19:33Speaker 6: think everybody cares about money. I don't think he necessarily
- 19:36Speaker 6: cared about doing that. I think he wanted some place
- 19:39Speaker 6: He's He's gonna be fine.
- 19:41Speaker 7: Financial for the rest of his life.
- 19:43Speaker 6: I think he realized this was a fair deal based
- 19:45Speaker 6: on the player that he is, not that he is.
- 19:48Speaker 6: He's out a sack guy, like a pure sat guy,
- 19:51Speaker 6: so he's probably not gonna get that that sort of money,
- 19:54Speaker 6: which is a different market. But he is a he
- 19:57Speaker 6: is a first rate player who can define a defense, and.
- 20:01Speaker 7: He got that kind of money.
- 20:02Speaker 4: I came in on Saturday to talk to him, and
- 20:04Speaker 4: you know, you can see through the interviews and read
- 20:07Speaker 4: I'm happy, I'm happy.
- 20:08Speaker 5: I'm happy. Let me tell you he's happy. He wants
- 20:11Speaker 5: happy to be here.
- 20:12Speaker 4: His parents, his sisters, his nieces, they were all here,
- 20:16Speaker 4: all in the draft room, they had lunch together. But
- 20:19Speaker 4: just he is one of those people that if I
- 20:23Speaker 4: were to rank the caliber of person and the caliber
- 20:25Speaker 4: of player, right, I put him side by side with
- 20:28Speaker 4: Tony Bisselli and side by side with Frank Taylor in
- 20:31Speaker 4: terms of that, and it was on full display.
- 20:34Speaker 5: He is very happy.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Is your stay logical?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Next question for you, John good?
- 20:40Speaker 7: Move on Walker?
- 20:40Speaker 2: Do you ever see him moving inside? We need to know,
- 20:43Speaker 2: the people need to know.
- 20:47Speaker 6: In this dayna is to say a player is moving
- 20:49Speaker 6: to a different position. I'm not down playing the question
- 20:54Speaker 6: of the question. Players play so much any different positions
- 21:02Speaker 6: within defenses now, it's such a higherd thing. I think
- 21:05Speaker 6: Trayvon Walker will probably remain listed as a defensive end
- 21:08Speaker 6: and play there primarily in base but it's not a
- 21:12Speaker 6: base league anymore. On passing situations, he played inside more
- 21:18Speaker 6: last year. I anticipate that they will use him to
- 21:22Speaker 6: try to solve what is clearly an issue with interior
- 21:25Speaker 6: pass rush. I think putting Trayvon Walker inside and a
- 21:30Speaker 6: lot of passing situations makes sense. You also probably will
- 21:35Speaker 6: see him play linebacker in some situations or look like
- 21:38Speaker 6: he's playing linebacker because he can do anything up front.
- 21:43Speaker 6: Will he line up at DT next to Devon Hamilton
- 21:47Speaker 6: on the depth chart? I kind of doubt that will happen,
- 21:50Speaker 6: But I think he's going to be a force inside.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Find me a sub three hundred pound defensive tackle on
- 21:54Speaker 4: an everyday basis. I mean, the only one I can
- 21:56Speaker 4: think of recently was Aaron Donald, and last week Liam
- 21:58Speaker 4: Gounn was talking about wanting Trayvon to be disruptive in
- 22:02Speaker 4: practice like Aaron Donald was all those years in Los Angeles.
- 22:06Speaker 5: I'm with you.
- 22:06Speaker 4: You mentioned earlier that the front office got to know
- 22:09Speaker 4: Trayvon last year, well so did Anthony campin Eli right,
- 22:13Speaker 4: So now he's got a year with him and now
- 22:16Speaker 4: can figure out what the next role is for him inside.
- 22:19Speaker 4: But he's got the length, he's got the strength, and
- 22:21Speaker 4: he's got the suddenness to be able.
- 22:23Speaker 5: To be a factor.
- 22:24Speaker 4: But I don't think you want him in there on
- 22:26Speaker 4: every down because you got your stretches the game to
- 22:28Speaker 4: the sidelines with his quickness.
- 22:30Speaker 6: I didn't talk to Treymon I had specifically last year,
- 22:32Speaker 6: but I sort of wonder too early with his wrist,
- 22:36Speaker 6: would it have been harder for him to play inside
- 22:39Speaker 6: in certain situations, because I don't know that for it
- 22:42Speaker 6: seems like it might have been. As he got healthier
- 22:44Speaker 6: at the end of the year, maybe he was able
- 22:46Speaker 6: to do that a little more. I love watching a
- 22:50Speaker 6: healthy Trayvon play. I hope he's healthy next year for
- 22:54Speaker 6: more reasons than.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Just my.
- 22:59Speaker 7: Yes.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Final question for you Rich from Georgia. What is the
- 23:02Speaker 2: current seating capacity in Orlando? Is Orlando doing anything in
- 23:05Speaker 2: the off season to upgrade or add additional seating? Are
- 23:09Speaker 2: there any requirements the NFL is to impose on Orlando
- 23:11Speaker 2: to bring it up to NFL standards?
- 23:13Speaker 1: Lots of Orlando questions, but I think.
- 23:15Speaker 2: If NFL is going to impose anything they like to
- 23:18Speaker 2: impose there will they might.
- 23:20Speaker 6: There are standards. I think it's sixty five thousand. It's
- 23:23Speaker 6: going to be in twenty twenty seven, if I remember
- 23:27Speaker 6: the number right I wrote about it.
- 23:30Speaker 7: They certainly have.
- 23:34Speaker 6: They're doing a four hundred million dollar up there to
- 23:37Speaker 6: get to NFL level. If the NFL didn't believe that
- 23:43Speaker 6: it was going to be at the imposed level, then
- 23:48Speaker 6: the deal wouldn't have happened.
- 23:49Speaker 7: So it will be an NFL.
- 23:53Speaker 6: Level standard stadium when the Jaguars play in it. One
- 23:58Speaker 6: little misconception that Orlando did all this work just to
- 24:02Speaker 6: host nine NFL games, Well, they're doing it also because
- 24:07Speaker 6: they host three college football games. I'm not sure what
- 24:10Speaker 6: they will be able to do this year because of
- 24:12Speaker 6: the construction, but they're looking at this long term as
- 24:16Speaker 6: they want an elite stadium and the Jaguars playing there
- 24:19Speaker 6: for a year as part of it.
- 24:20Speaker 5: That's the truth.
- 24:21Speaker 4: They're spending four hundred million dollars so they will meet
- 24:24Speaker 4: NFL standards.
- 24:25Speaker 5: It's one of the reasons why the Jaguars are going there.
- 24:27Speaker 4: The long term vision for the stadium is to be
- 24:29Speaker 4: a stable place where they can host college and NFL games. Listen,
- 24:33Speaker 4: at some point the Buccaneers are going to do their stadium,
- 24:36Speaker 4: and this stadium for Florida and for Central Florida sets
- 24:40Speaker 4: up perfectly to be able to meet the needs of
- 24:43Speaker 4: NFL and college football. So the four hundred million dollar
- 24:46Speaker 4: investment is one of the big reasons why the Jaguars
- 24:49Speaker 4: can go and play there.
- 24:50Speaker 1: There's a lot of.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Stuff they still have to figure out with Orlando, but
- 24:52Speaker 2: we do know that the team will still be based
- 24:54Speaker 2: in Jacksonville. It's not like the team's moving to Orlando
- 24:56Speaker 2: by any means. I will always like to clarify that.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I've gotten a couple of questions about that too. Will
- 25:00Speaker 2: they change their practice schedule within the you know, the
- 25:08Speaker 2: parime is this conversation.
- 25:09Speaker 6: The team will do everything as it does now except
- 25:13Speaker 6: treat Orlando home games like a road game in terms
- 25:17Speaker 6: of travel. I'm sure there's nuances within that, but for
- 25:21Speaker 6: the most part, it will be just like it is here,
- 25:23Speaker 6: except we will leave Saturday for Jaguars home games the
- 25:28Speaker 6: same way that the team leaves for road games.
- 25:31Speaker 1: We haven't heard yet. If you have to drive by
- 25:32Speaker 1: yourself yet though, right zone.
- 25:34Speaker 6: Well usually they want me isolated just so they need
- 25:39Speaker 6: you in the zone, so the.
- 25:40Speaker 7: Right but nobody wants to be around me, so which
- 25:43Speaker 7: is fair.
- 25:43Speaker 2: We'll keep you all updated on travel and what not
- 25:46Speaker 2: when we get more details, but things will still be
- 25:48Speaker 2: very much based here in Jacksonville. Say with us, we'll
- 25:51Speaker 2: say what's coming up next week and they get ready
- 25:52Speaker 2: for the draft. DAGs fan's time to lock in your
- 26:01Speaker 2: seats for twenty twenty six. Can play the deposits now.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Obviously next season will still be here at EverBank Stadium,
- 26:07Speaker 2: but it's gonna be limited capacity due to the construction
- 26:09Speaker 2: that is currently ongoing right now. Because you want to
- 26:11Speaker 2: get locked in as soon as you can, don'll miss
- 26:13Speaker 2: out on the biggest matchups this season and check it
- 26:16Speaker 2: out at Jaguars dot com slash tickets.
- 26:19Speaker 9: No, you don't want to go for it. You do
- 26:23Speaker 9: not want to go for it.
- 26:24Speaker 6: They run and sweep the whole He gets hated, a back.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Found I want to play.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I told him how to go for graymon Walker.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Ever, the communicator told him not to go for it,
- 26:43Speaker 2: and exactly, God, exactly what they didn't want.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Which was a stop on fourth doown.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Yeah, all behind the lot of scrimmage on Brian, Thank you,
- 26:50Speaker 6: Roy and girl on the same page about this.
- 26:53Speaker 7: We are such a social.
- 26:55Speaker 6: Media stat driven league and everybody focuses on sad if
- 27:01Speaker 6: you took fourth and one stops and huge plays like
- 27:04Speaker 6: that and count it was.
- 27:07Speaker 7: That play a sack, I don't know.
- 27:10Speaker 5: I mean he made a play against the Cults like
- 27:11Speaker 5: that too.
- 27:12Speaker 6: Yeah, And so if you took the number of plays
- 27:15Speaker 6: that Trayvon puts the other team in poor situations, which
- 27:22Speaker 6: are impact plays which sometimes matter as much as sacks,
- 27:26Speaker 6: then I think people who watched the game have less
- 27:31Speaker 6: to say critically about Trayvon than people who go on
- 27:36Speaker 6: profoot and described numbers.
- 27:38Speaker 4: So if you go back and you want to put
- 27:39Speaker 4: a situational value to it as well, if you remember
- 27:42Speaker 4: he did the exact same thing against the Colts after
- 27:44Speaker 4: Bacial Tuton was stripped and the game I think it
- 27:47Speaker 4: was twenty one to ten at that point something like that,
- 27:49Speaker 4: and they had the ball in midfield at the end
- 27:51Speaker 4: of the first half, and you think, holy cow, you
- 27:54Speaker 4: know they could get into this thing no matter who
- 27:56Speaker 4: the quarterback was. Because Daniel Jones was injured and he
- 27:58Speaker 4: came through with a huge play on Worth down that
- 28:00Speaker 4: just stuffed it and just extinguished the light.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Well, how do you put a value on that hunt?
- 28:05Speaker 4: And you had to be paying attention to the Jaguars
- 28:07Speaker 4: against the Colts who were reeling at that moment to
- 28:10Speaker 4: truly understand how big of a moment it was for
- 28:13Speaker 4: Trevan Walker.
- 28:14Speaker 5: And he does that all the time.
- 28:16Speaker 6: I think the overall theme that I know, Kay, you
- 28:19Speaker 6: and I have talked about it some. If you listen
- 28:23Speaker 6: to people around the league now, they're starting to catch
- 28:25Speaker 6: on to the Jaguars as much as they throw the
- 28:28Speaker 6: ball around and Trey and Trevor played well. Their identity
- 28:32Speaker 6: or somebody on a podcast a couple weeks ago, they
- 28:34Speaker 6: are a tough team, and teams around the league who
- 28:38Speaker 6: play them, they're up there with the toughest teams in
- 28:41Speaker 6: the league. It's what they want their identity to be.
- 28:44Speaker 6: Don't let forty four leave if you want to be
- 28:47Speaker 6: a tough team, because to me, he's the spine of that.
- 28:50Speaker 6: Him and Breton Strange to me are the guys that
- 28:52Speaker 6: I don't want to if I'm watching the game and
- 28:55Speaker 6: I see somebody hurt. Trevor's the first guy that I
- 28:58Speaker 6: don't want to see down Brenton and Trayvon for that reason,
- 29:02Speaker 6: that identity, that spine uh to me, they're the foundation of.
- 29:06Speaker 2: The franchise absolutely, and now we know at least Trayvon's
- 29:09Speaker 2: half will be here for uh long time. They're working
- 29:12Speaker 2: on Brenon Strange coming up next, so keep an eye
- 29:15Speaker 2: if there's any more extensions the next couple of days,
- 29:17Speaker 2: and then we'll be back next week on Jagsam to
- 29:19Speaker 2: talk more as we look into the draft upcoming.
- 29:22Speaker 7: Let's just two weeks
