- 0:01SPEAKER_01: Hey everybody, it's the week of the 4th of July, and my wonderful grandson and I, Gus, thought we'd have a little fun this week since it's a holiday week.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: And what we're gonna do is we're gonna read the three little pigs.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: But before we read the three little pigs, we want you to think about as we go through this book, we want you to think about what are some spiritual principles you could draw out of this book.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: In other words, as you hear the story, what what lessons about life does this story give us?
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: And um we're gonna we're gonna play with that for today and maybe next week.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Alright?
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: So here's the three little pig story.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: You ready for the story?
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who lived in a cozy house with their mother.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: One day, Mother Pig said, You're all grown up now.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: It's time for you to go out into the world and build your own houses.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Build them strong so you'll be safe from the big bad wolf.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: The first little pig was a lazy little pig.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: He built the simplest kind of house so he could have time to rest.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: His house I got sound effects going on here.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: His house was made of straw.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: It was not very strong.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: The second little pig was a playful little pig.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: He built his house quickly so he could go out and play.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: His house was made of sticks.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: It was not very strong.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: The third little pig was the smartest pig of all.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: He listened carefully to his mother's advice and built a strong house of bricks.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: The little pigs didn't know that lurking in the nearby forest was the big bad wolf.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: The wolf was very hungry, and for his supper he wanted a pig.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a wolf.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: The big bad wolf knocked on the first little pig's door.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Little pig, little pig, let me come in, he roared.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: You know what the little pig said?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: So the wolf said, I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: So the wolf huffed and he puffed.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: And he blew the straw house down.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: The first little pig ran away as fast as his legs could take him.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Next the wolf knocked on the second little pig's door.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Little pig, little pig, let me come in.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: So the wolf huffed and he puffed.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: And he blew the house down.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: The second little pig ran away as fast as his legs could take him.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: The third little pig heard a knock on his door.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: He was surprised to find his trembling brother standing on the other side.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: The big bad wolf blew our houses down, they cried.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Quick, come inside, said their brother.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Minutes later there was another knock on the door.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Little pig, little pig, who said that?
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: The wolf.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Little pig, little pig, let me come in.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: What'd little pig say?
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: What's the wolf say?
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: So the wolf huffed.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a wolf.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: See he's blowing.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: So the wolf huffed and he puffed.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Then he puffed and he huffed.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: But no matter how hard Yeah, he's up on the roof.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: No matter how hard he tried, he could not blow the brick house down.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: The big bad wolf was very angry.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: I'll get you little piggies, he snarled.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: He climbed up on the roof and crept toward the chimney.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Hearing the wolf on the roof, the third little pig was quick to light a fire.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: The wolf slid down the chimney and was met with Yeah, that's the wolf falling.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Got one.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Yep, he's running away.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: The wolf's tail was badly scorched.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: He ran from the house into the woods, howling.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Got one.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Yep, those are the three little pigs.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: One, two, three.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: So what we're gonna do for the next few minutes is we're gonna talk about what spiritual life principles we could get out of this story.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: You wanna say goodbye to everybody?
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Say bye-bye.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: Wave.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Say bye-bye.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Say love you.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Alright, thank you, buddy.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: So if you don't have grandkids yet, um just uh indulge me.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Um gosh, they're absolutely amazing, and those of you that have them know exactly what I mean.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Um so what I want you to do before next week is um give some thought to what spiritual principles, what life lessons could you pull out of the story of the three little pigs.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: And um, all I want to do is talk about again, same thing we always talk about.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: How to um how to get us where we want to go, how to overcome the obstacles, and uh quick little reminder um virtually all the obstacles that that have the power and impact to stop us are inside of us, not outside of us.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: And um I just found that it's a cool little story to think through.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Um, I do this when I'm uh doing presentations, particularly with leadership staff types of situations.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: And um uh, you know, um I'll ask them to, you know, just talk to me and I'll get responses like, you know, listen to your mother and things like that, which are great.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Then I'll get some really cool responses.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: So next week we're gonna talk about that and uh build on it.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: And if you need a scriptural like something to help you to why in the world would I be using the three little pigs, um parable of sower talks about four different soils and how they ended.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: And uh sometimes when I um teach on it, I'll call the parable of sower um the parable of arrested development.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: And um I just believe that uh story through little picks parallels that nicely.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: So um you guys have a great week.
