- 0:07Speaker 1: It's Meat Eater Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:13Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Yanni Randall, Brody, Hansei, Alyssa, Carinn
- 0:21Speaker 2: and Nate. This is a ten round quiz show with
- 0:24Speaker 2: questions for meat Eaters for verticals which are hunting, fishing,
- 0:27Speaker 2: conservation and cooking, and there is a prize. Meat Eater
- 0:30Speaker 2: will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of
- 0:33Speaker 2: the winner's choosing. And because this episode is brought to
- 0:37Speaker 2: you by Heart and Soil, they're matching our donation at
- 0:40Speaker 2: the end of the game. Thanks to Heart and Soil,
- 0:42Speaker 2: the winner will make a one thousand dollars conservation donation today.
- 0:46Speaker 2: For the stat of the week, this week, we're looking
- 0:48Speaker 2: at the number nine. That's how many days you have
- 0:52Speaker 2: to make an order from the Meat Eater Store to
- 0:54Speaker 2: guaranteed delivery by Christmas. So if Santa is giving the
- 0:59Speaker 2: gift of Meat Eater t Trivia this year, he needs
- 1:01Speaker 2: to place his order with us by December thirteenth. We
- 1:05Speaker 2: still have limited stock of the og Meat Eater Trivia
- 1:08Speaker 2: board game. The Hunting and Fishing expansion packs and the
- 1:11Speaker 2: mead Eater Trivia Collector's editions. They are available at store
- 1:15Speaker 2: dot the medeater dot com and again, December thirteenth is
- 1:19Speaker 2: the last day to order for guaranteed Christmas delivery.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Are the expansion packs flying off the shelves? Spencer flying
- 1:27Speaker 3: off the virtual shelves?
- 1:28Speaker 2: I think the only real shelves you can buy them
- 1:30Speaker 2: off of is our med Eater flagship store here in Bozeman.
- 1:34Speaker 2: And so far we have perfect five star reviews. It
- 1:38Speaker 2: was on the website, well done the og game. We
- 1:41Speaker 2: have eighty reviews for four point nine seven stars. I
- 1:45Speaker 2: think there were two people out of the eighty who
- 1:47Speaker 2: have reviewed it who gave us four stars instead of five.
- 1:50Speaker 4: What were the complaints?
- 1:52Speaker 2: I don't even remember now, I'm sure I only take
- 1:59Speaker 2: in the seventy eight five star reviews. Those two four steps?
- 2:02Speaker 5: Gotcha?
- 2:02Speaker 4: Gotcha?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Now here's our Infrequently Asked Question segment. If you have
- 2:07Speaker 2: a trivia related question for our crew, send it to
- 2:10Speaker 2: Trivia at the Medeater dot com with the subject line
- 2:13Speaker 2: I FAQ. Elena Brumwell wants to know have you ever
- 2:17Speaker 2: considered a Canada themed expansion pack? I'm sure, there are
- 2:21Speaker 2: a fair number of US Canadians who would be much
- 2:23Speaker 2: better at answering questions about our own animals and agencies. Well, Elena,
- 2:28Speaker 2: this is a common question. But no, there's not going
- 2:32Speaker 2: to be a Canada themed expansion pack. We have the
- 2:35Speaker 2: crossword puzzles on the medeater dot com. Of the twenty
- 2:38Speaker 2: that I've made so far, one of them was Canadian themed.
- 2:41Speaker 2: It was just for people from Canada who like hunting
- 2:43Speaker 2: fish in there. It is our least played crossword on
- 2:47Speaker 2: the website. So Canada listeners, if you want to make
- 2:52Speaker 2: that kind of content more in demand than you need
- 2:54Speaker 2: to go play that crossword puzzle to show me that
- 2:57Speaker 2: you're out there, and then that's something you'll consume.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Was that one hard Randall? Was it going to take
- 3:02Speaker 5: you longer than the regular American versions?
- 3:04Speaker 4: I'm not sure I recall this puzzle.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I go, I'll go look at what Randall's that was
- 3:09Speaker 2: part of art.
- 3:09Speaker 4: We did a mini crosswords, Oh yeah, regularly the mini crosswords.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Our regular crossword puzzle is twenty clues, which we
- 3:15Speaker 2: do once a week. But then I did five days
- 3:18Speaker 2: one week of many crosswords which were five clues each
- 3:21Speaker 2: one of them was Canada. On that Canada one, Randall
- 3:25Speaker 2: got a score of two sixty and he did that
- 3:28Speaker 2: in twenty eight second.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Now, I know we're not talking about the regular crossword,
- 3:32Speaker 4: but I I do think it's worth pointing out. In
- 3:36Speaker 4: the past two weeks of set new personal records, I
- 3:39Speaker 4: finished this week's crossword in I believe a minute in
- 3:42Speaker 4: twenty eight seconds.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Yep.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he's giving him a standard.
- 3:47Speaker 5: That's without pre reading the questions. Oh yeah, how can
- 3:50Speaker 5: you even read twenty questions in that amount of time?
- 3:54Speaker 4: I mean they're not long, let alone, they're prompts. They're prompts,
- 3:58Speaker 4: they're just a word or phrase.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we told him he's going to we're going to
- 4:03Speaker 2: need your drug test him with.
- 4:05Speaker 4: These golden rainbow cutthroat brown trout.
- 4:10Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Wow, just like that, you do it forty times.
- 4:13Speaker 2: M hm.
- 4:14Speaker 7: Did you drink a whole pot of coffee beforehand? No,
- 4:17Speaker 7: it was actually worried because I ate.
- 4:21Speaker 4: I ate an obnoxious portion of Thanksgiving leftover immediately for that.
- 4:28Speaker 7: Yeah, Phil saw that plate that was absurd.
- 4:31Speaker 5: It was. Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 2: So Randall's score on the Canada Crossword it was twenty
- 4:35Speaker 2: eight seconds. On the Gear one it was twenty seconds.
- 4:39Speaker 2: On the National Parks it was thirty five seconds, and
- 4:43Speaker 2: on the Dogs it was thirty one seconds. Oh, so
- 4:46Speaker 2: you did well. Canada was like your second strongest category.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Now imagine if you're from Canada, how well you do
- 4:51Speaker 2: on that?
- 4:52Speaker 5: Are there any are there any players out there that
- 4:56Speaker 5: rival randall scores at all?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I can see the tops Gors, It's it's anonymous.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I don't see I don't think I see their their
- 5:04Speaker 2: user name, and and some people beat Randall and people
- 5:07Speaker 2: leave in the comments too.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Uh.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Those people are often eager if they beat Randall's scores
- 5:12Speaker 2: to let us know.
- 5:13Speaker 4: I didn't know that there was a three possible until
- 5:17Speaker 4: uh an audience member shared that with us. So that
- 5:21Speaker 4: gave me something to shoot for.
- 5:23Speaker 2: So it's like, uh, like Jameis Winston says, you don't
- 5:26Speaker 2: shoot for the stars because there's already people on the
- 5:28Speaker 2: Moon's that's Randall Williams. All right, we have some housekeeping
- 5:35Speaker 2: to get to. On a previous episode of Trivia, we
- 5:38Speaker 2: had a controversial question about Guy Fieri being the favor town.
- 5:44Speaker 2: This made Brody and Jannis furious, who argued that it
- 5:48Speaker 2: had nothing to do with our four verticals but that's
- 5:51Speaker 2: where they're wrong.
- 5:52Speaker 7: I think everyone let's hear him about guys.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Let's hear about Yeah, to hear Guy is a fanatic hunter.
- 6:01Speaker 2: A twenty twenty three Facebook post shows him hunting ducks.
- 6:04Speaker 2: A twenty sixteen Instagram post shows him hunting bears. A
- 6:08Speaker 2: twenty fifteen Sportsman Channel episode of A V and X
- 6:11Speaker 2: TV features him turkey hunting with Blake Shelton, and in
- 6:15Speaker 2: a twenty twenty two interview, he said he's hunted deer, elk, antelope, pigs,
- 6:19Speaker 2: and big horn sheep. In that same article, he claimed
- 6:21Speaker 2: elk hunting and wyoming was one of the greatest experiences
- 6:25Speaker 2: of his life, in that a wild game Jumbalaya he
- 6:28Speaker 2: made with Duck, Venison and Gator was one of his
- 6:31Speaker 2: finest meals. Guy loves hunting so much that he had
- 6:34Speaker 2: a custom chef's coat printed in couu camo, and he
- 6:38Speaker 2: even named his firstborn son Hunter. So body and Giannis
- 6:43Speaker 2: I maintain that it was a good question, and I'm
- 6:46Speaker 2: even going to encourage.
- 6:49Speaker 7: I'm even going.
- 6:50Speaker 5: To eNCA he has just ignored me.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Well, what what's your problem, Brody?
- 6:58Speaker 8: I think it's awesome that he is hunter It's got
- 7:01Speaker 8: nothing to do with how that question was poorly worded.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I think I think that was a matter of when
- 7:07Speaker 2: when when Steve had time to play trivia, he often
- 7:10Speaker 2: had an attitude of if he got it right, it
- 7:12Speaker 2: was too easy. If he got it wrong, it was
- 7:14Speaker 2: too hard. And I think our players in the room
- 7:16Speaker 2: were experiencing that they didn't know that he was the
- 7:19Speaker 2: mayor of Flavor Town, so it was too hard for question.
- 7:23Speaker 8: Like a duly elected official of what like a municipality.
- 7:27Speaker 5: And how he.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Worded it, it was very clever by me.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Made up questions about made up places and made up
- 7:36Speaker 5: things for we have.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Questions about movies and songs. Those are all fiction.
- 7:42Speaker 8: Good on him for being a hunter, but he ain't
- 7:44Speaker 8: the mayor of any.
- 7:47Speaker 5: Favor Krin.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I think now that we know he's such a fanatical
- 7:51Speaker 2: hunter and and it'd be a great the mayor of
- 7:54Speaker 2: Flavor Town should be on the media podcast sometime. And
- 7:57Speaker 2: if you're watching on YouTube, you can see a picture
- 7:59Speaker 2: of him duck hunting there with his eyes close, with
- 8:02Speaker 2: his eyes closed. He was duck hunting in California. Grin,
- 8:06Speaker 2: can can we extend an invite to Guy Fieri's camp
- 8:09Speaker 2: off the check with Steve.
- 8:12Speaker 4: If I had had a few more days between that
- 8:14Speaker 4: episode and this episode, I shared this with Phil as
- 8:18Speaker 4: an excuse to cut my hair. I was gonna diet
- 8:20Speaker 4: blonde and wear wear a flame shirt just because I
- 8:26Speaker 4: knew this would come up again, and so I just
- 8:28Speaker 4: wanted to show up in the podcast to address and pierce.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Your ears just for the bit.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Yeah, next Halloween, we'll.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Get you a flavor town apron h printed in first
- 8:40Speaker 3: light Camo.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do it now.
- 8:42Speaker 2: The Shelby Index for today is a three point five,
- 8:45Speaker 2: so our winner should get seven correct answers. And with
- 8:49Speaker 2: that we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look,
- 8:55Speaker 2: I need to know what I stay under wand everything.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Just tend to win everything.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Game On Suckers, Question one, the topic is conservation, and
- 9:13Speaker 2: this first great question is via Bradley Burtkey. What state
- 9:17Speaker 2: has the most national forests? Is it Colorado, California, Washington
- 9:25Speaker 2: or Utah the most? The most in America?
- 9:30Speaker 5: Or like? Number of them not number of acres, right.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Number of them, not number of acres, just the most
- 9:36Speaker 2: national forests? What state has the most national forests? Colorado, California, Washington, Utah.
- 9:49Speaker 5: That's a tough one, spencer.
- 9:51Speaker 2: That's why the Shelby and X is a seven. Today.
- 9:55Speaker 2: What state has the most national forest? Your four choices? Colorad, Sato, California, Washington, Utah.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Think everybody but Hansei and Brody has an answer. Brody,
- 10:11Speaker 2: how many do you have it? Narrow down to two? Okay,
- 10:17Speaker 2: I've got too.
- 10:18Speaker 8: I'm thinking about.
- 10:20Speaker 2: What state has the most national forests? Colorado, California, Washington, Utah, Hanse,
- 10:26Speaker 2: are you ready go ahead and reveal your answers? We
- 10:30Speaker 2: have Hansey saying Utah, Giannis says Washington, Corinne Washington, Randall California,
- 10:38Speaker 2: Alyssa California. Nate put Washington crossed out California. Brody put
- 10:44Speaker 2: Washington crossed out Colorado. The correct answer, it's California.
- 10:51Speaker 7: Every time.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Rand got that one. Every time questions and Randall, that's right.
- 11:00Speaker 2: California has twenty national forests, the most in the nation.
- 11:04Speaker 2: That's followed by Colorado and Oregon with twelve, Idaho with eleven,
- 11:09Speaker 2: Montana with ten, Wyoming with eight, and New Mexico and
- 11:12Speaker 2: Washington with seven. Question two the topic is hunting.
- 11:18Speaker 5: This man is.
- 11:19Speaker 2: The host of the Hunting shows, Fresh Tracks and On
- 11:23Speaker 2: Your Own Adventures is question two. The topic is hunting. Yanni, Nate, Randall,
- 11:32Speaker 2: and Brody are all confident in their answer. Alyssa and
- 11:35Speaker 2: Corrin and Hansei have not picked up their whiteboard. This
- 11:39Speaker 2: man is the host of the hunting shows, Fresh Tracks
- 11:43Speaker 2: and On Your Own Adventures.
- 11:47Speaker 9: Of my first jobs out of college was doing audio
- 11:49Speaker 9: for Fresh Tracks.
- 11:51Speaker 2: There's a little hint.
- 11:55Speaker 7: Now, I know it's not like.
- 11:59Speaker 2: What's carin? Like an old Oh, okay, that.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Doesn't really help me.
- 12:09Speaker 9: I've ever watched meat eaters?
- 12:10Speaker 2: Okay, Hansei? Does that help you?
- 12:13Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 12:13Speaker 6: Maybe maybe, but I still can't think of his name.
- 12:15Speaker 2: He's got a grin on his face on the podcast.
- 12:19Speaker 2: We're not going to lob.
- 12:22Speaker 7: Apologize.
- 12:26Speaker 5: If it makes sense, Phil.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Would have gotten this one right. Maybe a rare question
- 12:31Speaker 2: in the hunting question that he would get this thing.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Is the host of the hunting shows, Fresh Tracks and
- 12:38Speaker 2: On Your Own Adventures. Hansei is writing down a description
- 12:42Speaker 2: and Yanni, looking at his whiteboard, says that he has
- 12:45Speaker 2: it has everything but his name.
- 12:47Speaker 6: I guess I'm not going.
- 12:49Speaker 2: To tell you anything else I recorded.
- 12:52Speaker 7: I thought we got to ask you questions about this.
- 12:55Speaker 2: If I recall, is everybody ready.
- 13:00Speaker 5: The game has changed now that it's all just made
- 13:03Speaker 5: up random things.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Fact, Yeah, made up like states with the most national
- 13:09Speaker 2: forests and a real person who hosts a real show.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It's everybody ready, Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 13:17Speaker 2: have Hansy saying the dude whose office was over stadium,
- 13:23Speaker 2: which is correct. Giannis says, Randy Newbird.
- 13:30Speaker 5: We once named a grouse in Alaska Randy Newbird, and
- 13:36Speaker 5: Randy kind of took offense to it. Krien says, are
- 13:42Speaker 5: we going to count that?
- 13:43Speaker 2: I don't know? Do you know his real antwer his
- 13:45Speaker 2: real name? Come on, he knows, Karen says Michael Wadell.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Randall says Randy Newburgh, Alyssa, Randy Newburgh, Nate Randy Newburg,
- 13:57Speaker 2: Brody Randy.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Newt called Randy, but I'm glad I didn't.
- 14:04Speaker 2: The correct answer is Randy Newburgh. I think we'll give
- 14:07Speaker 2: it to Giannis, who put Randy new Bird instead of Newburgh.
- 14:13Speaker 5: But do I get it on the show?
- 14:16Speaker 2: So Hans he put the guy who has an office
- 14:18Speaker 2: near Bobcat Stadium docs, which we're not going to give
- 14:23Speaker 2: it to him. But that's a nice level.
- 14:25Speaker 5: I recording a podcast, his first ever podcast at that office.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Oh, I think, Hans, you should get it man, Like
- 14:32Speaker 3: I don't know where the guy's office.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Randy's website describes him as being a leading advocate for
- 14:42Speaker 2: self guided hunters. Randy killed his first elk in the
- 14:45Speaker 2: nineteen nineties after six unsuccessful seasons in Montana. He says
- 14:50Speaker 2: that first dead bull was thanks to spending a summer
- 14:52Speaker 2: reading Jack Ward Thomas's book called Elk of North America,
- 14:57Speaker 2: which is six thousand pages.
- 15:00Speaker 7: Three.
- 15:01Speaker 2: The topic is gear. This is our listener question of
- 15:04Speaker 2: the week, which was won by Justin Flowers for sending
- 15:07Speaker 2: this great question. Justin is going to get a board
- 15:09Speaker 2: game signed by the crew. If you want a chance
- 15:11Speaker 2: to win our listener question of the week, then send
- 15:13Speaker 2: your question to Trivia at the meat eater dot com.
- 15:17Speaker 2: The three main ingredients of this are potassium, nitrate, charcoal,
- 15:22Speaker 2: and sulfur. Again, this is question three. The topic is gear.
- 15:28Speaker 2: The three main ingredients of this are potassium, nitrate, charcoal,
- 15:32Speaker 2: and sulfur.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Gear.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Topic is gear. That's right, about half of our room
- 15:40Speaker 2: has already come up with their answer. The three main
- 15:47Speaker 2: ingredients of this are potassium, nitrate, Charcoal and sulfur. What's
- 15:53Speaker 2: the longest book Brody and Randall that you guys have
- 15:57Speaker 2: put together for Meat Eater? Do you know what the
- 16:00Speaker 2: This is.
- 16:01Speaker 8: Probably the Wilderness Survival Guy. That was a big one.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Did that touch a thousand pages?
- 16:06Speaker 6: No?
- 16:07Speaker 2: Can you imagine reading an Elk of North America book
- 16:11Speaker 2: that's six thousand pages?
- 16:12Speaker 7: How many maps are in it?
- 16:13Speaker 4: Though?
- 16:13Speaker 5: No, thousand thousand maps.
- 16:17Speaker 7: It's still a long ass book.
- 16:19Speaker 5: The small pages I helped put together. No, man, it's
- 16:24Speaker 5: fine printing that book too. It's dense.
- 16:26Speaker 4: I gotta get my hands in that.
- 16:27Speaker 7: Bad boy I've read.
- 16:29Speaker 5: Uh, but we put together Meet Eater's Guide to Butchering
- 16:35Speaker 5: and Cookie ended up well. We had to split it
- 16:38Speaker 5: into two parts because it was seven hundred pages.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Six thousand pages though.
- 16:44Speaker 8: Who's Valve, the deer guy, the old guy?
- 16:47Speaker 10: Valve?
- 16:48Speaker 7: I read his dearer book.
- 16:50Speaker 8: That's a long one. It's a real but it's not
- 16:53Speaker 8: six six thousand pages.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Holy cow, you have question.
- 16:59Speaker 4: It's not a multi work, no pages bound as one.
- 17:06Speaker 5: It does seem like it's too much because I don't know.
- 17:10Speaker 5: It just seems like it's a is a textbook, is
- 17:12Speaker 5: what it is?
- 17:13Speaker 2: That was a quote from Randy saying that he killed
- 17:15Speaker 2: his first ball. Thanks for reading Elk of North America,
- 17:17Speaker 2: which is six thousand pages long, so I might I
- 17:20Speaker 2: might have to.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Again.
- 17:25Speaker 7: I'm gonna get on WorldCat.
- 17:26Speaker 2: We're on question three. The topic is geared the three
- 17:29Speaker 2: main ingredients of our potassium nitrate, charcoal and sulfur. Is
- 17:34Speaker 2: everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 17:39Speaker 2: Hansy saying black powder, Yiannis gunpowder, Corine handwarmers, rand At gunpowder,
- 17:47Speaker 2: Alyssa firestarter, Nate black powder, Brodie gunpowder. The correct answer
- 17:55Speaker 2: is gunpowder. You said black powder, will give that to
- 17:58Speaker 2: you as well. The ingredients of gunpowder have remained unchanged
- 18:03Speaker 2: for about one thousand years, but the ratio has taken
- 18:07Speaker 2: some perfecting. The modern formula, which is about ten percent sulfur,
- 18:11Speaker 2: fifteen percent charcoal and seventy five percent potassium nitrate, has
- 18:16Speaker 2: been used since the thirteenth century. Question for the topic
- 18:21Speaker 2: is cooking Our golly defines this term as quote when
- 18:26Speaker 2: meat rots from the bone outward, Who or what is
- 18:31Speaker 2: our golly? You don't know what our golly is? Our golly?
- 18:35Speaker 5: Game bags? Oh? That that company?
- 18:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we had one of their employees sitting
- 18:40Speaker 2: here about two weeks ago. Oh, the owner brooks old,
- 18:44Speaker 2: that is what our golly is.
- 18:46Speaker 5: It doesn't look like yeah, just another kind of a
- 18:52Speaker 5: you know, I want to say.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I think this is a great question. Our golly defines
- 18:58Speaker 2: this term as quote, when meat rots from the bone outward.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Is anybody confident in their answer?
- 19:07Speaker 9: No, Brody's putting marker aboard.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I have an answer, has confident, But I don't know.
- 19:15Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not confident it's correct, but I'm confident
- 19:17Speaker 4: that it could be possible.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Our GOLLI defines this term as when meat rots from
- 19:23Speaker 2: the bone outward. M mm hmm. This isn't just in
- 19:33Speaker 2: our golly term either, you know, it's not like.
- 19:36Speaker 3: No, I've heard it before.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Mm hmm. So do you have the right answer?
- 19:42Speaker 7: Maybe?
- 19:43Speaker 3: Okay, you gotta get that animal skin and cool down.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I'm gonna go try to find the page count for
- 19:55Speaker 2: Elk of North.
- 19:56Speaker 4: America, and that is h Bezos will tell you.
- 20:01Speaker 2: By Jack Ward Thomas, is there any chance at six
- 20:06Speaker 2: thousand pages?
- 20:07Speaker 4: That seems like six thousand it seems insane.
- 20:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna go closer to one.
- 20:13Speaker 7: How about six hundred six hundred pages.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Seven hundred twenty pages according to Amazon. So the six
- 20:19Speaker 2: thou that was that was a quote that was from Randy.
- 20:24Speaker 2: He was being interviewed by Outside Bosman magazine and he said,
- 20:27Speaker 2: that's how I killed my first Elk. I read the
- 20:29Speaker 2: six thousand page book Elk of North America. There, Randy
- 20:34Speaker 2: was U.
- 20:35Speaker 5: He read it nine times.
- 20:36Speaker 7: And so I wonder if counting too.
- 20:42Speaker 2: That's how I'm gonna score my animals from now on.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It's just take a time six and a half multiplier. Again,
- 20:49Speaker 2: we're on question four. The topic is cooking. Our Golly
- 20:53Speaker 2: defines this term as when meat rots from the bone outward.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Do you have an answer?
- 21:01Speaker 5: Randall? I do.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Do you like your answer?
- 21:03Speaker 4: I think so?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Okay, I feel pretty good about it, Randall Brodie HANSI
- 21:07Speaker 2: I'll feel okay.
- 21:07Speaker 6: How about you, Nate, No, just complete shot in the dark.
- 21:14Speaker 6: But I have one that's like tingling.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Okay, back in my mind it's tingling.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I might get that checked out.
- 21:20Speaker 6: When I don't know an answer, but I think I might.
- 21:23Speaker 6: I sniffed the sharpie. It's but it's a method.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Is everybody ready opens up some neural pathways?
- 21:33Speaker 5: Yeah, let's flip them over. No, no, I need seconds.
- 21:38Speaker 2: We can do ten seconds for you.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Ten seconds by the six thousand page metric.
- 21:45Speaker 7: And we're done for a few minutes.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Be honest. Maybe he meant word no, six thousand words
- 21:53Speaker 2: to be nothing. That'd be like fifteen pages. Sorry, Randy,
- 21:58Speaker 2: we just called you out for that twenty twenty two interview.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Be honest.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Okay, we're on about thirty seconds now.
- 22:06Speaker 2: He's writing. As soon as he's done writing.
- 22:08Speaker 4: The tap is a new one. I like it.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have HANSI saying
- 22:16Speaker 2: gangreen ganness, grant gangreness. Yannis says composting, Koren says internal rot,
- 22:24Speaker 2: Randall says bone souring, Melissa rancid, Nate desiccation, Brody bone souring.
- 22:33Speaker 2: The correct answer is bone sour. We had Brody and
- 22:38Speaker 2: Randall get that one right, And Yanni, this is a
- 22:41Speaker 2: term that's been used by many folks. Peterson's hunting. A
- 22:45Speaker 2: lot of hunting and fishing forums are golly, who makes
- 22:48Speaker 2: the game bags? We all like, so have you heard
- 22:50Speaker 2: of bone sour before?
- 22:51Speaker 5: Never have?
- 22:52Speaker 4: Get on rock slide.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Bone sour occurs when meat isn't properly cooled and bacteria
- 22:58Speaker 2: spreads from the bone outward. This is the most This
- 23:01Speaker 2: is most common when big games such as elk or
- 23:03Speaker 2: moose are killed in hot weather. Besides obviously getting the
- 23:07Speaker 2: meat in a cooler some ways to prevent bone sour
- 23:09Speaker 2: or by promoting airflow and deboning the meat.
- 23:12Speaker 4: And could it be gangrenes.
- 23:14Speaker 2: No, that's different gangreen. I don't think is uh is
- 23:18Speaker 2: not related to bone.
- 23:19Speaker 7: Gang is an infection?
- 23:21Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 23:21Speaker 2: Yeah, so no Hansi, We're not going to give you
- 23:24Speaker 2: a point for that one.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Does that Does that rot emanate from within the bone
- 23:29Speaker 5: marrow or.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Is it there's a lot of heat. The center of
- 23:34Speaker 3: the hind.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Quarter is where the most heat is. Yeah, around the
- 23:38Speaker 2: ball joints, there's bacteria that will spread if it stays
- 23:42Speaker 2: too warm. They say, I think you need to get
- 23:44Speaker 2: it below like eighty degrees in the first hour or
- 23:46Speaker 2: below forty five degrees in the first twenty four hours
- 23:49Speaker 2: to avoid bone sour. But yeah, it's rotting from the
- 23:52Speaker 2: inside out.
- 23:53Speaker 5: But how we also discussed about how leaving the bone
- 23:55Speaker 5: in will help the cool air transfer to that zone
- 24:00Speaker 5: as that temperature like, it's like it's a better The
- 24:03Speaker 5: bone is a better conduct than the knat itself is.
- 24:06Speaker 2: But if you're if you're battling against like eighty degree weather,
- 24:09Speaker 2: it's probably just best to us to not have the
- 24:12Speaker 2: bone in there. So what's the technical term for bone souring?
- 24:14Speaker 2: Because I guarantee that's not the scientific term. Listen, I
- 24:18Speaker 2: I assigned this definition to our golly, and it's, like
- 24:21Speaker 2: I said, also agreed upon by Petersontoni and others. Question five,
- 24:27Speaker 2: the topic is fishing. Berkeley says, these kinds of soft
- 24:31Speaker 2: plastic lures quote mimic different types of aquatic life, such
- 24:36Speaker 2: as crayfish, tadpoles, lizards, and bugs. We got no question
- 24:43Speaker 2: to look at, You got to look behind there.
- 24:48Speaker 9: Having technical difficulties in here.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Berkeley says, these kinds of soft plastic lures mimic different
- 24:54Speaker 2: types of aquatic life, such as crayfish, tadpoles, lizards, and bugs.
- 25:01Speaker 5: These tights and.
- 25:03Speaker 2: The room is stumped. Pill just head butted the TV
- 25:08Speaker 2: and it came back on. This is question five. The
- 25:14Speaker 2: topic is fishing.
- 25:15Speaker 9: Going to mess up the clock here for a secon,
- 25:16Speaker 9: but that's okay.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Berkeley says, these kinds of soft plastic lures mimic different
- 25:21Speaker 2: types of aquatic life such as crayfish, tadpoles, lizards, and bugs. Brody,
- 25:28Speaker 2: how do you feel about your answer? I feel good
- 25:31Speaker 2: about it, okay, Brody, the only confident player of in
- 25:35Speaker 2: the room. Brody, have you ever experienced bone sour or
- 25:39Speaker 2: been around someone who has?
- 25:42Speaker 8: I've seen meat that's gotten a little green tinge to it.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Before the first elk I killed, I.
- 25:47Speaker 8: Didn't get the hide off of the hind quarters real quick,
- 25:50Speaker 8: and I think got a little bit, but like it
- 25:52Speaker 8: wasn't ruined. But didn't Steve get someone that Washington.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Yeah, we lost some meat for sure, But again, I
- 26:03Speaker 5: don't think it's the I don't think the bone has
- 26:06Speaker 5: much to do with it.
- 26:07Speaker 3: I think that's just where it happens in the middle.
- 26:10Speaker 5: It's like it's gonna be the place that cools down. Yeah,
- 26:19Speaker 5: I gotta think about plastic.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Lures, says. These kinds of soft plastic lures mimic different
- 26:24Speaker 2: types of aquatic life, such as crayfish, tadpoles, lizards, and bugs.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Brody the only player to come up with an answer.
- 26:35Speaker 7: Let's turn them over right now.
- 26:41Speaker 2: M M mimic different types of aquatic life such as crayfish, tadpoles,
- 26:47Speaker 2: lizards and bugs. Randall now coming up with an answer.
- 26:53Speaker 4: No, no, just writing a word down there. It's not
- 26:57Speaker 4: the answer.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Johanni, do you have an answer?
- 26:59Speaker 8: Now?
- 26:59Speaker 5: I do. I think there's a chance that's correct.
- 27:02Speaker 2: There's a chance it's everybody ready, who's gonna come up
- 27:06Speaker 2: with an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 27:10Speaker 2: have Hansi without an answer. Oh, we have Yanni saying worm.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Karen without an answer. Randall says double twister tails. Alyssa
- 27:20Speaker 2: says worms. Nate says wordly boys. Brody says creature baits.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Brody got it. The correct answer is creature baits. Creature
- 27:30Speaker 2: baits are popular among bass anglers fishing heavy cover and
- 27:34Speaker 2: spawning beds. These lures are known for their unique profile
- 27:37Speaker 2: that is unusually bulky with extra appendages. Some creature baits
- 27:41Speaker 2: don't mimic anything at all, such as the popular zoom
- 27:45Speaker 2: brush hog, which has multiple arms, legs, and tails. Film
- 27:49Speaker 2: now has a photo of.
- 27:50Speaker 7: One double tail double.
- 27:52Speaker 2: It's got double everything, and that zoom brush hog is
- 27:56Speaker 2: probably the most popular creature bait on the market. It
- 27:59Speaker 2: doesn't look like anything at all.
- 28:01Speaker 4: It resembles in some respects the answer that I put down,
- 28:05Speaker 4: which was what the double twister tail double twister tails,
- 28:08Speaker 4: but you forgot the double legs, double arms.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Well that's there is a classic creature bait, Brody. Have
- 28:17Speaker 2: you ever used a creature bait?
- 28:19Speaker 9: You know, I don't know.
- 28:20Speaker 3: I don't do a lot of like bucket mouth bass fishing.
- 28:24Speaker 2: But good on you for knowing about them.
- 28:25Speaker 5: Phil.
- 28:26Speaker 2: We are halfway through the game of trivia. Give us
- 28:29Speaker 2: a scoreboard.
- 28:29Speaker 9: Update, Karen, I'm so sorry you don't have any points. Hansei,
- 28:37Speaker 9: You've got one, Alyssa, Nate, and Jannis. I'll have two
- 28:41Speaker 9: points apiece. And with that creature bait questioned, Brody pulled
- 28:45Speaker 9: in to tie up with doctor Randall. They have four
- 28:47Speaker 9: points of anybody's game plan.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Question question six.
- 28:53Speaker 4: I think I.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Would think that you'd be pulling in more of this
- 28:56Speaker 5: information after all these years working here.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 7: Well, I guess I'm just.
- 29:03Speaker 8: Krinn makes some homemade gunpowder handwarmers.
- 29:06Speaker 9: Yeah, hand a hand.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Question six. The topic is biology. This next great question
- 29:16Speaker 2: is via Jonathan Dobbs. Merriam Webster defines this five letter
- 29:21Speaker 2: word as quote a major ecological community type such as
- 29:25Speaker 2: tropical rainforest, grassland, or desert. This is question six. The
- 29:33Speaker 2: topic is biology. Merriam Webster defines this five letter word
- 29:37Speaker 2: as a major ecological community type such as tropical rainforest, grassland,
- 29:44Speaker 2: or desert. Brody Randall, Hansei Alyssa, Nate All confident Yanni,
- 29:50Speaker 2: who was just ribbing Krinn about not getting enough correct
- 29:53Speaker 2: answers as a blank whiteboard. I, you.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Honest might have used up a lot of his brain
- 29:58Speaker 3: power white tail celest.
- 30:00Speaker 5: So that could be.
- 30:03Speaker 2: It's a costly Endevoran, you got to dedicate a lot
- 30:05Speaker 2: of that brain killing those things. They're the smartest big
- 30:11Speaker 2: game animal.
- 30:11Speaker 6: You know.
- 30:12Speaker 2: That's that's a trivia fact. Again, We're on question six.
- 30:17Speaker 2: The topic is biology. Merriam Webster defines this five letter
- 30:21Speaker 2: word as a major ecological community type such as tropical rainforest, grassland,
- 30:28Speaker 2: or desert.
- 30:29Speaker 4: On the subject of Karin's wrong answer from previous question,
- 30:34Speaker 4: I have a handwarmer injury.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Currently a handwarmer injury. Got too hot. No, you're not
- 30:40Speaker 2: supposed to apply those things directly to skew toes were.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Cold, and so I took a regular handwarmer and threw
- 30:46Speaker 4: it in my boot in there bunched up around my
- 30:49Speaker 4: big toe. I'm about to lose that nail. Okay, my
- 30:51Speaker 4: whole toe's purple.
- 30:53Speaker 2: It was one of Karn's handwarmers, though, is that what will?
- 30:56Speaker 4: I've just been having flashbacks after seeing her deserve hand
- 31:01Speaker 4: tow warmers. I can't help the.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Cow would tell you got what you deserve just for you.
- 31:05Speaker 7: I know, I actually thought about that.
- 31:07Speaker 5: Course.
- 31:07Speaker 4: I was on the side of the mountain this weekend.
- 31:09Speaker 7: I was thinking about.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Col his hatred for hand warm Yeah.
- 31:14Speaker 5: Oh, I tell you what. In old Wisconsin, man, I
- 31:18Speaker 5: picked up a lot of them, the new trash.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I love that that gas station sell them though. That's ah,
- 31:25Speaker 2: that's how you know you're in a good place. The
- 31:27Speaker 2: gas station sells handwarmers. You get a five letter word
- 31:31Speaker 2: as a major ecological community type such as tropical rainforest, grassland,
- 31:36Speaker 2: or desert. Yanni, Karin, do you two give up? I
- 31:40Speaker 2: wrote something. I think it's okay. Yanni is trying to
- 31:45Speaker 2: look at Krin. Do you give up? Yanni?
- 31:47Speaker 5: I can see it. No, I'm not gonnaw.
- 31:52Speaker 2: He's gonna come up with his own wrong answer.
- 31:54Speaker 5: He says, Oh, no, you guys, I'm not gonna hold it.
- 31:57Speaker 7: It's either a principal head or answers.
- 32:01Speaker 2: We have Hans saying biome Yanni without an answer. Karen
- 32:06Speaker 2: says tiger, Randall says biome, Alyssa says ocean. Nate and
- 32:12Speaker 2: Brody say biome. They got it. The correct answer is
- 32:16Speaker 2: biome b I O m P. According to net geo,
- 32:22Speaker 2: the five major types of biomes are you guys want
- 32:25Speaker 2: to take a guess.
- 32:26Speaker 7: Tundra, desert, tropical.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Desert, grassland, so you're missing two of them, not one.
- 32:36Speaker 2: That means you're only missing one more. Biome aquatic, which
- 32:41Speaker 2: I think we would say is marine. So the five
- 32:43Speaker 2: major types of biomes according to net geo are aquatic, grassland, forest, desert,
- 32:48Speaker 2: and tundra. Each major biome can be broken down into
- 32:51Speaker 2: more specific biomes, such as grasslands being categorized as savannahs
- 32:56Speaker 2: or temperate grasslands. Question seven, the topic is hunting. The
- 33:01Speaker 2: National Wild Turkey Federation defines this call as quote an
- 33:06Speaker 2: alarm that usually means the bird has seen or heard something.
- 33:13Speaker 2: NWTF defines this call as an alarm that usually means
- 33:18Speaker 2: the bird has seen or heard something.
- 33:21Speaker 9: HANSI, I'm sorry, mister, answer did you get that last time?
- 33:24Speaker 2: He got that one right?
- 33:25Speaker 3: You should be the call that the first thing that
- 33:27Speaker 3: comes in your mind is damn it.
- 33:29Speaker 2: That's right. This call has ruined whitetail haunts for me
- 33:34Speaker 2: as well. I've had turkeys making this vocalization in the
- 33:37Speaker 2: white tails who were like in the same wheat field
- 33:40Speaker 2: became aware then as well. They recognized that that meant
- 33:44Speaker 2: something important.
- 33:45Speaker 5: HM.
- 33:47Speaker 2: So the whole animal kingdom. Well, listen up when turkey
- 33:50Speaker 2: is doing this call, which is an alarm that usually
- 33:53Speaker 2: means the bird has seen or heard something.
- 33:57Speaker 4: An animal kingdom. Come on, it's not a real Animals
- 34:01Speaker 4: don't have.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Governments, not a municipality.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not a polity.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? No, Nate needs a second.
- 34:09Speaker 5: I had Gobbler come to me making this call, let's
- 34:14Speaker 5: pass spring in Wisconsin.
- 34:15Speaker 2: We were his What was he doing? What were his intentions?
- 34:18Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 34:19Speaker 2: You don't think your ears were not I think he
- 34:21Speaker 2: was doing this call. Did you kill that Gobbler?
- 34:26Speaker 5: Yes?
- 34:27Speaker 2: Wow? So he maybe knew you were there.
- 34:30Speaker 7: He didn't have a chance in his final him.
- 34:32Speaker 5: He was from a long ways away, wait, long before
- 34:37Speaker 5: I could see him. I don't know. It was just
- 34:39Speaker 5: a weird kill, the dumb one. Weird turkey behaviors.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 34:46Speaker 2: Hansy saying signal, Giannis says put, Karen says shock, Randall
- 34:52Speaker 2: says yelp Alyssa says shot gobble, Nate says who do
- 34:57Speaker 2: you who? Brody as putt? The correct answer is putt
- 35:03Speaker 2: or danger put The putt can be a single or
- 35:07Speaker 2: several sharp notes. Since this call indicates danger, it's rarely
- 35:12Speaker 2: used by turkey hunters, but the NWTF says it's a
- 35:15Speaker 2: good call to employ. If there's a tom that you
- 35:18Speaker 2: want to that you want to stop or to raise
- 35:21Speaker 2: its head. Phil is now going to play you ten
- 35:23Speaker 2: seconds of a putting hen that was a pot bro
- 35:37Speaker 2: here said. That can often indicate that your haunt is over.
- 35:41Speaker 2: With ye. Question eight, the topic is conservation. A twenty
- 35:48Speaker 2: twelve Bloomberg BusinessWeek article describes this waterway as ground zero
- 35:55Speaker 2: for Asian carp in America. A twenty twelve Bloomberg BusinessWeek
- 36:03Speaker 2: article describes this waterway and this is a quote, as
- 36:06Speaker 2: ground zero for Asian carp in America.
- 36:10Speaker 3: That's a long time ago.
- 36:12Speaker 2: That's right, But who do you don't think it's changed?
- 36:17Speaker 2: You have this one, right, Randall, I think so did
- 36:20Speaker 2: you consider Putt on that last question instead of yelp?
- 36:23Speaker 4: Nope, I'm not sure that I had termed putt in
- 36:26Speaker 4: my vocabulary. Not a turkey man. Yeah, I'm intrigued by
- 36:30Speaker 4: the who doy who. There's a rap song that incorporates that. Oh, yes,
- 36:35Speaker 4: I think it's a master P track.
- 36:39Speaker 6: Lay it down?
- 36:40Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 36:40Speaker 6: Am I right?
- 36:41Speaker 4: Phil, I'm looking.
- 36:42Speaker 5: For It's not it's outcast.
- 36:46Speaker 9: No, you're thinking of that, I'm unaware.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Oh good, poll Nate, Yeah, No, that's it.
- 36:56Speaker 5: I'm thinking of he goes someone where he's tight like
- 37:00Speaker 5: halways smoked out always.
- 37:07Speaker 7: Everybody's been saying it so flat. You gotta be like
- 37:09Speaker 7: who whatever, like.
- 37:11Speaker 10: A personal authorities coming that you need to like, like
- 37:15Speaker 10: if there's just you that's like the universal mmmm call watch.
- 37:21Speaker 9: Yes it is a it's a song by t r
- 37:23Speaker 9: u uh and master P was a part of that.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Wow. The only I I don't know a single song
- 37:30Speaker 2: by master P, only know that he had like a
- 37:31Speaker 2: really cruddy reality show.
- 37:33Speaker 5: Well v H one.
- 37:34Speaker 7: Here's a basketball player too.
- 37:35Speaker 4: He got a contract with the the Hornets.
- 37:38Speaker 5: I believe.
- 37:39Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, make him say huh oh.
- 37:41Speaker 2: I do know that. Yeah, I feel like Arenas really
- 37:45Speaker 2: liked that song mid two thousands.
- 37:47Speaker 4: I'm trying to think of that. That's the No Limit crew,
- 37:50Speaker 4: isn't it.
- 37:52Speaker 5: Talking about?
- 37:56Speaker 2: And I'm going to remind you that we're on question eight.
- 37:58Speaker 2: The topic is conservation. In twenty twelve, Bloomberg BusinessWeek article
- 38:03Speaker 2: describes this waterway as ground zero for Asian carp in America.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Is everybody ready?
- 38:11Speaker 6: Is there like a little like sneaky thing in this question? No?
- 38:17Speaker 2: No, Randall says no, No, okay. Brody says no, it's
- 38:23Speaker 2: everybody ready. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 38:27Speaker 2: Hansi and Yanni and Corinne saying Mississippi River. Randall says
- 38:34Speaker 2: Illinois River, alyssa Pacific Ocean. Nate says Hudson. He was
- 38:39Speaker 2: hoping ground zero was a hint for the locality. Brody says, Mississippi.
- 38:45Speaker 2: The correct answer is the Illinois River. Randall got that
- 38:50Speaker 2: one right. Son of Asian carp were first captured in
- 38:54Speaker 2: the Illinois River in nineteen ninety eight. They got there
- 38:58Speaker 2: after escaping nearby Awkwa culture facilities. According to the Illinois
- 39:02Speaker 2: Department of Natural Resources, there are more Asian carp per
- 39:06Speaker 2: acre in the Illinois River than any other place on Earth.
- 39:10Speaker 2: The fish thrives in the waterway due to an abundance
- 39:13Speaker 2: of food from farm run off and because of a
- 39:15Speaker 2: lack of natural predators. Who Question nine we'll get to
- 39:23Speaker 2: in a second, because first Phil is going to give
- 39:25Speaker 2: us a scoreboard update.
- 39:27Speaker 5: Oh yeah, there it is.
- 39:32Speaker 9: No, you didn't, sorry, Chrin, just give her one, Okay, Grin,
- 39:39Speaker 9: I'll give her three. Oh yeah, it's just down to
- 39:45Speaker 9: Randall and Brody. They've been they've been playing, playing back
- 39:48Speaker 9: and forth this whole game. They've got six points.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Question nine, The topic is cooking. This type of bean
- 39:57Speaker 2: shares its name with a horse breed and car model.
- 40:04Speaker 5: Oh, the song is actually called who do you who?
- 40:07Speaker 5: Buy out guests?
- 40:09Speaker 2: What a by Yanni to know that. Randal and Brody
- 40:15Speaker 2: appear confident in their answer for question nine. The topic
- 40:18Speaker 2: is cooking. This type of bean shares its name with
- 40:22Speaker 2: a horse breed and car model.
- 40:26Speaker 6: Bonus points for the make.
- 40:28Speaker 2: No, but Nate is so confident that he could tell
- 40:31Speaker 2: us what the car model is. M Randall, you wrote
- 40:37Speaker 2: down an answer fast. You put your whiteboard down. You
- 40:40Speaker 2: have since picked it back up and taken the cap
- 40:42Speaker 2: off your marker or your second guessing your answer? He is.
- 40:45Speaker 2: He is erasing it with his hand, doesn't even need
- 40:49Speaker 2: the racer sitting next to him. You have this one
- 40:52Speaker 2: right now, Randall. I think this type of bean shares
- 40:55Speaker 2: its name with a horse breed and car model. Which
- 40:58Speaker 2: one of those clues give it away? Is it the bean,
- 41:01Speaker 2: the horse breed or the car model.
- 41:04Speaker 4: Well, I don't think a type of bean without the
- 41:08Speaker 4: car model. I mean I think you need at least
- 41:10Speaker 4: two of them.
- 41:12Speaker 2: It's everybody ready, now, Joanny, do you have this one right?
- 41:19Speaker 5: I also two answers written down. Okay, my second one
- 41:23Speaker 5: is what I'm gonna go with.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Brody knew this one immediately, this one to come up
- 41:27Speaker 2: with an answer. This type of bean shares its name
- 41:31Speaker 2: with a horse breed and the car model. Phil, would
- 41:34Speaker 2: you get this one right?
- 41:35Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 41:36Speaker 2: Phil would get this one right? That makes you feel
- 41:38Speaker 2: any better, Yanni.
- 41:41Speaker 5: I'm gonna show Brody now.
- 41:42Speaker 2: He's now eliminated one of his answers.
- 41:50Speaker 7: On the right track.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Brody shook his head.
- 41:53Speaker 6: I'm playing for third here.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Brody shook his head.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Now, what did you have, Civicate?
- 42:00Speaker 2: Did you see his answer? Do you have a different answer? Okay,
- 42:05Speaker 2: Nathan Brodie say, Yanni is on the right track.
- 42:08Speaker 6: I didn't.
- 42:09Speaker 2: I didn't say that, Hansi. Or do you give up?
- 42:14Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm just writing names of beans now to try
- 42:16Speaker 10: to like somewhere.
- 42:18Speaker 2: We're going to give you about ten more seconds.
- 42:20Speaker 9: Horses pick He's like Forrest Gump except beans.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Hansi has quite an extensive list of beans. Maybe just
- 42:34Speaker 2: circle that what you think the correct one is so
- 42:36Speaker 2: I can see all your all of your other options.
- 42:42Speaker 7: Oh well, I mean I got more.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Okay, just pick one. Which one are you going with here?
- 42:47Speaker 4: How about h.
- 42:49Speaker 2: He has eight beans written?
- 42:50Speaker 6: Now?
- 42:53Speaker 2: How about how about the.
- 43:00Speaker 7: Eventually?
- 43:01Speaker 2: Hanji says lima bean. Yanni says palomino, karenn says broad,
- 43:07Speaker 2: Randall says pinto. Alissa and Nate and Brody say pinto.
- 43:13Speaker 2: They got it. The correct answers is pinto. Ponzi did
- 43:17Speaker 2: not have that as one of his eight.
- 43:19Speaker 11: Being Yeah, but I did have a Pinto is a
- 43:26Speaker 11: Spanish word that means painted or spotted.
- 43:30Speaker 2: The pinto bean is named for its modeled skin. The
- 43:33Speaker 2: pinto horse is named for its flashy coat of white patches,
- 43:37Speaker 2: and the ford Pinto is named after the horse, a
- 43:40Speaker 2: theme that also berthed the Ford Mustang, Bronco and Maverick.
- 43:44Speaker 2: The Ford Pinto was one of the auto industry's greatest
- 43:47Speaker 2: failures due to its gas tank design that caused the
- 43:50Speaker 2: car to explode from rear end collisions. You boys would
- 43:55Speaker 2: have been alive during the Ford Pinto era. Neighbors cross
- 43:59Speaker 2: the street had Really they did they get rid of it?
- 44:03Speaker 5: I mean I was.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Little, okay, I think it was like nineteen seventy seven.
- 44:07Speaker 5: Dad mentioning it. Yeah, I remember a few of them
- 44:11Speaker 5: on the roads when I was a kid.
- 44:14Speaker 2: And then they changed the design so it wouldn't explode
- 44:16Speaker 2: from rear incllisions, and they renamed it to the Bobcat.
- 44:19Speaker 2: So they had the four Pinto that became the Ford bo. Yeah,
- 44:23Speaker 2: here's a correct answer review so far. Number one was
- 44:26Speaker 2: California two, Randy Newberg three Gunpowder, four Bone Sour five,
- 44:34Speaker 2: Creature Baits six, Biome seven, Putt eight, Illinois River nine Pinto.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Before we do question ten, give us a final leader
- 44:44Speaker 2: board update.
- 44:45Speaker 9: Phil, Oh, Yeah, sorry, where is it? WHOA there?
- 44:50Speaker 5: We are?
- 44:50Speaker 9: Rand Lombrodi got the Pinto. They're still tied up. They've
- 44:53Speaker 9: got seven points.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Now after that we have Nate with four, Alissa and
- 44:57Speaker 2: Yanni with three, Hansi with two. Corin won't say her score.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Question ten, the topic is ecology. In this last great.
- 45:06Speaker 9: There's the reason I skipped over everyone else.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Playing for third place, so we want to be able
- 45:15Speaker 2: to secure that third place victory if it indeed happens.
- 45:19Speaker 5: All right, think hard. You can still get one.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Question ten, the topic is ecology, and this last great
- 45:24Speaker 2: question it's via Henry Zeken. Name the three Canadian provinces
- 45:30Speaker 2: that are part of the Great Planes according to Encyclopedia Britannica.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Again we have Brody and randall tied up. They both
- 45:41Speaker 2: get this right or wrong. We will go to overtime.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Question ten, the topic is ecology. Name the three Canadian
- 45:49Speaker 2: provinces that are part of the Great Plains, and this
- 45:52Speaker 2: is according to Encyclopedia Britannic.
- 45:54Speaker 4: It'll shout out to our friends of North there.
- 45:57Speaker 5: That's right.
- 45:58Speaker 2: The I f a Q from Elaine. Sure for an
- 46:02Speaker 2: entire expansion packed Sorry Elena. The best I can do
- 46:06Speaker 2: is question ten in Media Trivia and and a mini

- 46:15Speaker 2: You can play it at the mediater dot com backslash games.
- 46:18Speaker 2: See if you can beat this Yankee Randall with his
- 46:21Speaker 2: score of I think it was twenty eight seconds.
- 46:24Speaker 6: Uh.
- 46:24Speaker 2: And then if you give that some love, we'll have
- 46:26Speaker 2: more Canadian content in the future.
- 46:28Speaker 4: Do we get other folks around the globe asking for.
- 46:32Speaker 2: New Zealand and Australia. It would be as far as
- 46:36Speaker 2: international listeners Canada, they're asking are they New Zealand and Australia.
- 46:41Speaker 2: They also request for content specific to them. I've even
- 46:45Speaker 2: had some kiwis offered a write entire episodes for New
- 46:49Speaker 2: zeal That would be fun outdoor trivia.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Those boys need to start their own podcast over there.
- 46:54Speaker 4: I guess let's do a bonus episode.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 46:57Speaker 4: We can go down to outback steakhouse, sit around a.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Blooming You have one in b Yes, it was barred
- 47:03Speaker 2: by the old at nineteenth getting wrong question ten names three.
- 47:08Speaker 8: They have two for one drink special. Back in the
- 47:11Speaker 8: day when we were guiding in Colorado.
- 47:13Speaker 2: You know what'd you get there? Margarita and I might
- 47:16Speaker 2: have already I might have already told this story.
- 47:18Speaker 4: But the day that I passed my UH exams in
- 47:22Speaker 4: grad school, they had two for one beers like tall
- 47:25Speaker 4: corps lights, and I got two and they brought them
- 47:28Speaker 4: out at the same time, and then they asked I
- 47:31Speaker 4: drank one, and they asked me if I wanted another,
- 47:33Speaker 4: and they brought two more outs. So I've pictured myself
- 47:36Speaker 4: with three of the tall tall draft beers.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Which is the day you became a doc?
- 47:42Speaker 7: Unseemly, no, no, this was on my way to becoming
- 47:45Speaker 7: a doctor.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Sorry, okay.
- 47:47Speaker 4: And you see was playing basketball on the TV, and
- 47:50Speaker 4: it was a day for me because I was at
- 47:51Speaker 4: Apex Steakhouse watching the Bearcats.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Helped to become a doctor again. Question ten named the
- 47:56Speaker 2: three Canadian provinces that are part of the Great Plains.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Does everybody have answers? As a reminder, we are down
- 48:02Speaker 2: to Brody and Randall, who were tied up. Go ahead
- 48:05Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have Hansei saying Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Yanni says Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia. Corrin says Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Randall says Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alyssa, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Alberta.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Nate Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Brody Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba. The
- 48:43Speaker 2: three provinces are Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, meaning Brody and
- 48:51Speaker 2: Randall both got that one right and are going to
- 48:54Speaker 2: overtime with eight correct answers. Those three provinces are known
- 48:59Speaker 2: as the Prairie Provinces. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the Great
- 49:03Speaker 2: Plains include parts of ten states, three provinces, and one territory.
- 49:08Speaker 2: They define the region's boundaries as south to the Rio Grande,
- 49:12Speaker 2: north to the Mackenzie River, east to the interior Lowland,
- 49:16Speaker 2: and west to the Rocky Mountains. We're going to overtime.

- 49:30Speaker 2: going to other stuff.
- 49:31Speaker 4: It's funny. I never liked it a Phil cough Man.
- 49:35Speaker 2: The tie breaking topic is cooking. How many teaspoons are
- 49:41Speaker 2: in one point two five cups? How many teaspoons are
- 49:48Speaker 2: in one point two five cups? This is a numerical question.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Whoever is closest between Randall and Brody will be declared
- 49:57Speaker 2: the winner. Everyone is going to play along, though, because
- 50:02Speaker 2: if one of our other five players were to get
- 50:04Speaker 2: this right on the nose, meat Eater is going to
- 50:07Speaker 2: add an extra one hundred dollars donation to the end
- 50:10Speaker 2: of the game. And as a reminder, we have a
- 50:12Speaker 2: one thousand dollars donation today thanks to Heart and Soil,
- 50:16Speaker 2: matching our five hundred dollars donation, so this could be
- 50:19Speaker 2: an eleven hundred dollars donation if one of our seven
- 50:22Speaker 2: players nails the correct answer how many teaspoons are in
- 50:28Speaker 2: one point twenty five cops? Brody Randall, are you boys
- 50:32Speaker 2: doing some conversions or are you just coming up with
- 50:34Speaker 2: a good guess?
- 50:36Speaker 7: I'm guessing at the conversions.
- 50:39Speaker 2: And then, Brody, do you have any confidence in your conversions?
- 50:44Speaker 3: You know, me and my son were just discussing how
- 50:48Speaker 3: many Oh, we're discussing one of these conversions the other
- 50:52Speaker 3: day and now I can't remember.
- 50:54Speaker 2: What it was.
- 50:55Speaker 5: One of them is tricky in this whole deal because
- 50:59Speaker 5: they're not all or not all even numbers.
- 51:03Speaker 4: Yeah, cups to gallons, I'm good, blow cups on shaky ground.
- 51:08Speaker 6: I just did a bunch of this for the chili cookoff.
- 51:12Speaker 5: I can't remember.
- 51:13Speaker 2: How many teaspoons.
- 51:18Speaker 6: I put my heart and soul into that thing.
- 51:20Speaker 2: What were you converting from teaspoons to cups?
- 51:23Speaker 10: Oh? What was it? It's all blur. I can't remember.
- 51:28Speaker 10: We don't have any cup in our rental thing, so
- 51:31Speaker 10: there's a lot of.
- 51:32Speaker 2: That measuring broth by the teaspoon. Oh just leave it, Randall.
- 51:42Speaker 2: How do you feel about your answer?
- 51:43Speaker 7: Well?
- 51:44Speaker 4: I uh, I started with made up conversions, then extrapolated
- 51:48Speaker 4: from that, and then it felt a little.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Low, so I added to that. Okay, so pretty weak, Brodie.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Do you think your son would have a shot at
- 51:56Speaker 2: getting this right? He would? Is this something they were
- 51:58Speaker 2: learning in school? We're just learning at home.
- 52:02Speaker 3: At home he likes to like make muffins and shit, so.
- 52:07Speaker 8: But he would remember it.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? You got a one thousand dollars donation.
- 52:16Speaker 2: He's on the line today.
- 52:17Speaker 4: I had that.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Hansie is making a few changes I had.
- 52:22Speaker 7: I'm going back to what I g spoons are just
- 52:24Speaker 7: so small. I just keep adding to my number.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Randall's answer is growing. It's everybody ready. Lissa is gonna
- 52:34Speaker 2: make one last change.
- 52:35Speaker 6: It got real big.
- 52:37Speaker 5: This is for conservational Lissa, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 52:42Speaker 2: We have Hansi saying and even one hundred. Yannis says fifty,
- 52:48Speaker 2: Corinne says forty. Randall says forty two. Alyssa agrees with
- 52:55Speaker 2: Yanni and says fifty. Nate says eighty two. Brody says sixty.
- 53:01Speaker 4: My next to last answer was sixty.
- 53:04Speaker 2: One of you has it right on the nose, just one.
- 53:07Speaker 2: I'm not saying what somebody there's a right answer in here,
- 53:11Speaker 2: meaning this is going to be an eleven hundred dollars donation. Geez,
- 53:16Speaker 2: the correct answer is sixty. Making twitter, we were so
- 53:23Speaker 2: close to the double on the nose. There are forty
- 53:28Speaker 2: eight tea spoons in one cup. You could arrive at
- 53:31Speaker 2: that answer by knowing there are three tea spoons in
- 53:34Speaker 2: one tablespoon and sixteen tablespoons in one cup. Brody got
- 53:40Speaker 2: it right on the nose, meaning we have a one
- 53:42Speaker 2: one hundred dollars donation today, five hundred dollars from Heart
- 53:47Speaker 2: and Soil, five hundred dollars from meat Eater for the
- 53:49Speaker 2: regular game, and one hundred extra dollars from meat Eater
- 53:53Speaker 2: for Brody getting the tie breaking answer right on the nose. So, Brody,
- 53:56Speaker 2: what are we going to do with the eleven hundred
- 53:58Speaker 2: dollars donation.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Let's throw five hundred to the National Wild Turkey Federation
- 54:04Speaker 3: and six hundred to the Land Access Initiative.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Five hundred to NWTF, six hundred to the Land Access Initiative,
- 54:12Speaker 2: and WTF provided us with the danger putt question earlier,
- 54:16Speaker 2: which you got right and Randall got wrong, and that
- 54:20Speaker 2: gave you the victory.
- 54:21Speaker 7: I remember.
- 54:24Speaker 8: Randall's you don't hunt turkeys a whole lot to you,
- 54:28Speaker 8: but you'll remember that now.
- 54:31Speaker 3: Turkey putting that.
- 54:32Speaker 4: I remember the tea spoons as well.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Five going to NWTF, six hundred dollars to the Meat
- 54:39Speaker 2: Eater Land Access Initiative. Thanks to Heart and Soil for
- 54:42Speaker 2: making it a one thousand, one hundred dollars donation today.
- 54:45Speaker 2: We appreciate their support of the podcast and conservation. Join
- 54:49Speaker 2: us next week for more Meat Eater Trivia, the only
