- 1:25all once again for listening to the random Heathen ramblings
- 1:29podcast, enjoy hail to you all. All right.
- 1:37All right, everybody. Calm down.
- 1:40Everybody sit down, everybody. Get settled in Hale and welcome
- 1:45back to the random human remains podcast and good to see you all
- 1:49again. Good to be back, my name is
- 1:53Jessie. You heard about all that here,
- 1:57we are again, doing the thing, doing multiple things, I'm in a
- 2:03different, you know, Ensemble today.
- 2:06For all of my viewers, for all of the folks that absorb this
- 2:09podcast on the, on the respective video platforms such
- 2:15as YouTube and Spotify, I am not in my normal attire, but that is
- 2:19because I just didn't feel like changing out of my Closed today.
- 2:24And in fact, this this band shirt that I'm wearing its ear,
- 2:32a kanji can I move this man but Gamba you guys see your congee
- 2:41So, you may be wondering, you know, what relevance is have?
- 2:44Well, even if it didn't have relevance, even if I was just,
- 2:47you know, wearing a random shirt.
- 2:50I'm just going to turn around and show you guys the back of
- 2:52it, you can zoom in or you can pause the video, you can look at
- 2:55it later but there's there's runes on the back of this, you
- 2:59know, check it out. Like that, does it?
- 3:15But anyway, the back of the shirt has rooms on at the back
- 3:20of the shirt is Elder futhark runes that are intended to spell
- 3:23out the road to war. Now as I've probably mentioned,
- 3:30maybe not on this podcast, but as I've been, you know, doing my
- 3:34due diligence, as best I can, in the past to talk about the runes
- 3:38in their use in speaking. In Modern English, obviously,
- 3:45the Elder futhark runes were used to speak and write in
- 3:49proto-germanic, they don't translate into Modern English.
- 3:54You can transliterate to some degree.
- 3:58Much like I've done in and some similar posts or some stuff on
- 4:06my social media. But but the Elder futhark are
- 4:10not. Translatable into Modern
- 4:14English. We don't speak Modern English
- 4:15and Elder futhark rooms. We speak Modern English using
- 4:19the Latin alphabet but you can transliterate there there's
- 4:21there's there's some ability to do that so the you know th The
- 4:27Thorn The Thirst room duty sauce and the a we're heroes room is
- 4:32is the best way to to to spell out the word the th e.
- 4:38So anyway the back of the shirt is the road to war.
- 4:42And that is a title track. Or the title to a track off of
- 4:48this band's album, Global genocide.
- 4:51One of my favorite songs. We're going to here in just a
- 4:55moment sometime during this podcast called you to kanji util
- 5:01kanji. So here a kanji is the name of
- 5:04the band and you do kanji it's like a it's a jellyfish.
- 5:09And we're going to listen to the track called you work on G
- 5:13because it is in fact just a f and Jellyfish as the track will
- 5:18tell you later on. So stick around for that because
- 5:20during this podcast we're going to get into some thrash metal
- 5:24y'all I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, it's that kind of an
- 5:27episode today's in sense that we are burning, is a mixture of a
- 5:34murmur cented incense, and a coffee flavored instance.
- 5:39You'll notice that. I said it coffee because I am
- 5:43from Long Island. And I will say coffee, not
- 5:47coffee. Not give me a cup of Café.
- 5:50It's give me a cup of coffee. All right, so it's myrrh and
- 5:57coffee. We'll see how that.
- 6:02We'll see how that goes. Do not burn the microphone,
- 6:04Jesse do not burn the microphone down.
- 6:09Okay? So I think that you know, some
- 6:12of the sweet and earthy elements of Of of the myrrh, which didn't
- 6:18fully take. Let's just get that one a little
- 6:21bit longer to burn. I think they'll complement each
- 6:23other and so far so good. Yes.
- 6:30Are you burning? No, you're not.
- 6:33You're extinguishing little jerk.
- 6:35Come on. Come on.
- 6:39We're gonna get this. Yo, don't worry.
- 6:42Um, let me just hold it here for a minute and give it a second
- 6:46to. There we go.
- 6:48Think we got that one. That one looks to be.
- 6:50It's a thick boy. Oh yeah.
- 6:52There we go. We got it now.
- 6:53All right, so coffee and myrrh working.
- 6:57Well, working out. Well.
- 6:58So far. So yeah, we're going to come
- 7:05back to the irukandji thing here in a moment.
- 7:07Actually, we'll probably do that towards the end of the episode
- 7:12because I want to get what we're here for, you know, a delay.
- 7:18Oh yeah, that's nice. Oh yeah.
- 7:20Oh yeah. Now we're going into the Nova
- 7:23Scotia and now we're going into the mid western parts of the US.
- 7:30Don't you know? Oh yeah.
- 7:31No, it's not. Oh yeah, it's all yeah. so, But
- 7:36yeah what's what are we doing today, guys?
- 7:39What are we doing today in the middle towards the end of the
- 7:44week? Following the summer solstice,
- 7:47we have surpassed the longest day and the shortest night of
- 7:52the year here in the northern hemisphere.
- 7:55Meaning that the days to come? Ooh, that's a smoky boy.
- 8:01Meaning that the days to come are going to get progressively
- 8:04shorter. So the darkness is starting to
- 8:09creep in is that metaphorical? No, it's quite literally.
- 8:14The darkness is going to start creeping in and we will get
- 8:17longer nights and shorter days going forward, but that's just a
- 8:22cyclical nature of things. You know, that that's that's how
- 8:26that's how it be. Okay.
- 8:29So Let's talk a bit about, let's recap, I guess we should say.
- 8:35I want to, I want to recap a bit about the, the most recent Somer
- 8:40summer, solstice celebration, say that three times, since
- 8:44summer, solstice celebrations, summer solstice celebration
- 8:46summer, solstice celebration, we did it.
- 8:48All right. So the most recent, solstice
- 8:50celebration that I got to be a part of was the Raven, Moon
- 8:53Hearts public event called Sunnah bloat, Been talking about
- 8:59it up to. Well, this past this past week
- 9:02and this past weekend, myself and I lost speaker of our tribe
- 9:08and we both attended and we got to meet and be reacquainted meet
- 9:13new people and be reacquainted with old friends.
- 9:17So I do want to just give a quick shout out and thanks you
- 9:23know to our friends Of Raven Moon Hearth Greg, the chieftain
- 9:28Dawn the Thule Jared, the Goethe and his wife, Michelle who
- 9:33participated in was an active role in the evenings ritual.
- 9:38Of course, Don and his wife for hosting the event and everybody
- 9:45else. All the vendors who came all of
- 9:47the new folks that I got to, you know, be acquainted with and get
- 9:51to know and do Rune readings for.
- 9:53So for anybody who come out to Raven, Moon Hearts event this
- 9:58the soon upload event this past weekend and got to Smoke just
- 10:07coming right here. That got a chance to get their
- 10:11rooms read by me. Thank you, thank you for that
- 10:15opportunity. And thank you for allowing me a
- 10:17chance to kind of tap into that, you know, aspect of things.
- 10:22And that was a really interesting.
- 10:27I don't know series of events that you know all of the rooms
- 10:30that I read four people. There were there was a lot of
- 10:32repeat themes throughout the day.
- 10:36So many of the people that came up to me that I was Reading the
- 10:40runes for you know, came to me and I was asking, you know, why
- 10:43are you here? Not, why are you here at soon?
- 10:46A blow? But why are you here talking to
- 10:49me? Why did you come to me to have?
- 10:52You have the rooms red and so much of the answers that I got
- 10:55were? I don't know, I don't know why.
- 10:59I'm here, I just I'm looking for just general answers you know
- 11:04guidance. Am I doing the right thing?
- 11:06Am I on the right path and I've never had the runes read, you
- 11:09know, they were there was there was multiple cases of the That I
- 11:15read runes, for who have never had Maroons read.
- 11:17They may have had other forms of divination performed and but the
- 11:22ruins were never a thing. And so, it was like, this is
- 11:25new. And let's see how it goes. and,
- 11:33It was, it was a, it was a, it was a emotionally and
- 11:37spiritually challenging day. I've read runes for people, iíve
- 11:43read my own rooms. I've right.
- 11:44You know what I mean? Like, it's what part of what I
- 11:47do is part of my spirituality as a pagan as a Norse Pagan, but
- 11:53having so many people, Have the interest of reading the runes
- 11:59are having the ruins read for them.
- 12:01Having me read their rooms. There was a lot of exchange of
- 12:06energy and it was neat because they were there were there was
- 12:09there was one individual. Their name is Lori, we read the
- 12:12runes, and there was a ladybug that appeared and then another
- 12:17fella, who I read the runes for later on, there was an inchworm,
- 12:21an inchworm that appeared that walked around And the Rune
- 12:25casting area, the the presence of the land fatir expressing
- 12:31their presence or manifesting their presence in the forms of
- 12:35these. Creatures.
- 12:40You know, I would, I would use such a term as the, you know,
- 12:42there's a spirit. There's this Spirit, whether it
- 12:45was the spirit of the ladybug, the spirit of The Inchworm,
- 12:47whatever, right? How they appear and manifest
- 12:52themselves when at at that specific time was significant
- 12:56and we took all of that into the Rune readings.
- 12:58And that's what I love about the work that I do in the way that I
- 13:03serve the community and the way that I serve the people is that
- 13:06it's not just a matter of Let's spread out some runes, and let's
- 13:10see what happens. No, it's literally.
- 13:11We're throwing the bones where we're casting, you know, and
- 13:16then little things like that, like a ladybug to appear or an
- 13:19inchworm or whatever. Like, those are things that you
- 13:21could not have inserted or added to an online reading or
- 13:26long-distance sort of exchange of, of a discussion in that way,
- 13:31right? It has to be in person to have
- 13:34that aspect of things added To it.
- 13:38And it made it such a I think trying to get the right word
- 13:43like it made it such a complete process, you know I'm saying?
- 13:47Like it made it such a Thing that I couldn't possibly
- 13:53recreate. At any other point in time.
- 13:57And that's what I love so much about it.
- 13:58So thank you. Thank you to everyone who came
- 14:00out to soon about and supported. First, and foremost, The Hearth,
- 14:03The Raven, Moon, Hearth, Kindred, like they put so much
- 14:05work into the event. The fact that it's on a big
- 14:10enough piece of land that, you know, the homeowners that, you
- 14:14know, hosted the event Don and his wife, all of the work that
- 14:18goes into preparing the land preparing the ritual space
- 14:21preparing the food, you know, all of the collective effort,
- 14:26you guys did a bang-up job. So Greg Dawn, you know, Jared
- 14:32Kyle, you know, Michelle everybody just everybody a part
- 14:36of the heart that that made this event.
- 14:38So welcoming and so wholesome, it's so refreshing and it's been
- 14:43such a long time since I've been able to experience that and I
- 14:46hope that the other people that were there that got a chance to
- 14:49experience. This feel the same way that
- 14:51they, they got a chance to be exposed to the, the true meaning
- 14:56of heathen re, you know, like yes it's a public event and yes
- 15:00there are people here who weren't necessarily Norse pagans
- 15:03but you got to you got to do some it man you got a chance to
- 15:05see you know. The way that a tribe runs their
- 15:11event and it was very specific to the Hearth and they, you
- 15:14know, did it their way. But they didn't such a good way.
- 15:20They did. They really did, you know, the
- 15:22game's the the way that you inserted you know, modern things
- 15:30into the whole thing that the study talks, you know, the
- 15:33discussion, the things that your go the let Jared lead just
- 15:39really well done top-notch so you guys Raven Moon Hearth is in
- 15:44based out of, you know, the Nashville, Tennessee area,
- 15:45Middle Tennessee. They hold these public events
- 15:48soon. Upload in the summer, they have
- 15:49one coming up in October called Shadow moot.
- 15:51It kind of Falls whether by purpose, or by happenstance
- 15:56around the time of the winter nights festival or winter Night
- 16:01Celebration, that is historically, documented in a
- 16:04Testa to in the sagas and some of the other primary or lesser
- 16:08sources, it happens around that time.
- 16:10So mid-october you guys are on. Check out, Raven, Moon, heart
- 16:15friends, and Raven, Hearth and Shadow, mood, if you just search
- 16:17Facebook for shadow moot, all one word, you'll find an event
- 16:20for that. Come out consider coming out.
- 16:23No, you know, no matter where you are consider coming out and
- 16:26being a part of this because they do they put a lot of
- 16:28thought and a lot of care into their events.
- 16:31I have every intention to be there with my tribe in October
- 16:37to, you know, kind of celebrate the think the way that they Our
- 16:42where their focus is foreshadow, moot is a focus on Hell or
- 16:48hella, you know. So the daughter of Loki it is
- 16:53it's around that time of year, where we look at the approaching
- 16:58winter months, it's again within a week or so.
- 17:01Historically of when based off of the lunar solar Cycles, when
- 17:07winter nights, Was was historically or traditionally
- 17:11observed. So that whole like thinning of
- 17:15the veil thing sow in is right around the corner of that time
- 17:19of year. So again not just it doesn't
- 17:22just appeal to like the Norse or dramatic.
- 17:24Pagans it appeals to a lot of polytheists and whether it be
- 17:28Celtic or whatever pagans that are in our area that come it can
- 17:32if they're able to connect with it and it resonates with them.
- 17:35So I do encourage people regardless of where you are in
- 17:38the country. the October is but four months away, give or take
- 17:44June July, but we're almost a so.
- 17:47June July, August September. Yeah, four months away.
- 17:50Plan for it. Make make your plans to come out
- 17:53to Shadow move and see what it is.
- 17:55And I'm talking about. So very good job.
- 17:59Greg, the chieftain everybody Raven, Hearth Bravo, glad to
- 18:03have been there and glad to have been a part of it.
- 18:07It was wholesome, it was good. So for those that are in the
- 18:10area that are listening to this podcast today, when it airs,
- 18:14don't forget this weekend Sunday.

- 18:22middle Tennessee, heathens Meetup, Pub moot, whatever you
- 18:26want to call Cyril, a pub. It's a restaurant, but it's a
- 18:29meet-up and it's open to. All right?
- 18:32So whether you are North Sea than Celtic Pagan Roman
- 18:38polytheist Reconstructionist atheist, even just whatever
- 18:42whoever you are. If you're in the area and you
- 18:43want to come out and see what folks like myself and others in
- 18:46the area are about. Let's get a chance to meet with
- 18:48those. Let's Network, let's talk.
- 18:50Lets, you know. See what the community has to
- 18:55offer. So, that's coming up again,
- 18:59Sunday. The 26th there is a Facebook
- 19:01event if you're not in the Facebook world and you don't,
- 19:07you know, really touch on that. But you listen to these
- 19:09podcasts, I will include details about that as far as addresses
- 19:15location and all that. In the comments in the
- 19:17description area, I should say, we're in the show notes of this
- 19:20podcast, if you're listening and you want to go Facebook and find
- 19:23it. Check your show notes area.
- 19:24The the details will be there, even if you're not on Facebook,
- 19:28you can still come to the event, hoping for a nice turnout
- 19:33hopefully. All right.
- 19:37So what is today's topic of discussion?
- 19:41Now that we got all of that fun stuff out of there.
- 19:43What is today's topic of discussion?
- 19:45Well, what we are going to be talking about today is an email
- 19:50that I received from Mitch. Let me just pull the email up
- 19:56real quick because Mitch, Writes in and says hello.
- 20:02First of all let me say I freaking love your content will.
- 20:07Mitch I appreciate you for saying that.
- 20:09So thank you so much for writing in and starting off your email
- 20:11with that. It's good to know that you enjoy
- 20:14what I do. You helped inspire me greatly on
- 20:18my path. My hat's off to you even though
- 20:21I'm not wearing one but but again, thank you.
- 20:24I was hoping to get your opinion on something.
- 20:27So I understand that Odes and Promises In Heathen re are
- 20:31different. But since O's are a heathen
- 20:35thing, if the other party is, for example, a Christian or even
- 20:41an atheist would promises or giving that person your word be
- 20:47considered the same. Severity as an oath since they
- 20:52aren't Heathen. Or is that irrelevant?
- 20:58Have a great day? Mitch.
- 21:00So today's topic of the podcast is going to be on that of Oaths
- 21:06oath / promises and he is right, that you're right in the sense
- 21:11that the thing of the between Oaths and promises are different
- 21:15within a heathen world view. So let's talk a bit about that.
- 21:21I have gone over this in a previous video on my channel
- 21:24which I will link into the show notes and description of of this
- 21:28episode. So if you You haven't seen that.
- 21:33It is a bit dated. It's been at least a year or two
- 21:35since I've done that video but I think the message behind it and
- 21:38all that still Echoes True to this day.
- 21:43In that we talk about owes, we talk about promises, we talk
- 21:47about swearing something of solidity, you know, between
- 21:54ourselves and individuals. There has to be an understanding
- 21:59we, you know, We really like go off into this.
- 22:02And this is again, this is this is probably touching on things
- 22:05that are a bit of a I wouldn't necessarily call it Heathen re
- 22:12101, right? Like this isn't this is stuff
- 22:15like when we talk about owes and promises and all that kind of
- 22:17stuff, we're talking about things are a bit advanced in the
- 22:21world view of heathen re-arrange a world of heathens ring.
- 22:25So if you're not familiar with what we're talking about,
- 22:28there's going to be some homework for you to do.
- 22:30There's going to be some research for you to do, and
- 22:32hopefully the videos that I post in the comments description,
- 22:35show notes, Etc, will be helpful for you to understand, but we
- 22:39talk about prom Cesaro's. Promises and Oaths oats are
- 22:44different than promises. Okay.
- 22:46A Promise does not carry the same weight and does not
- 22:50insinuate the same things as an oath.
- 22:52So the biggest thing I think that we could probably summarize
- 22:56with those two things is that a promise is a promise.
- 23:00I promise to do this. I promise you that and there is
- 23:03no binding or promise. Doesn't it?
- 23:10There's nothing binding about a promise, right?
- 23:12I promise to do this. Well, what if you don't do it,
- 23:15what happens if you don't, you know, you broke your promise and
- 23:19and that could maybe damage your reputation that can maybe hurt
- 23:24who you are as a person and how you are known as a person.
- 23:27If you fail to uphold your promise.
- 23:29But but with an oath, there is more to it an oath. includes
- 23:36more than just yourself, and there's also Consequences for
- 23:42not fulfilling that oath. So let's use, for example, a
- 23:48very common thing that we see happening across.
- 23:53I think a lot of heathen circles, you know, right around
- 23:56the time of New Year's, you know, when we all make our
- 23:59resolutions or when people make resolutions, it's a promise in a
- 24:02way, right? I resolved to do XYZ and we'll
- 24:06just use for the sake of argument.
- 24:09Losing weight getting better, you know, getting in better
- 24:11shape, something along those lines because that seems to be a
- 24:14very common thing. You know, I promised to lose x
- 24:18amount of weight, you know. That's not really binding.
- 24:21You know, that's like that's a goal that you're setting, you
- 24:23you're saying, I resolved to do this, I promise to do that but
- 24:27what are the consequences if you don't?
- 24:29Well, there's really none because if you don't lose that
- 24:33weight then you just failed to Achieve the goal, you know, the
- 24:38resolution that you set was not met and so, you know, it could
- 24:43be argued that, you know, the persons or person, right?
- 24:47However, you've expressed this promise to people around, you
- 24:50might think differently of you, if you fail to keep that
- 24:53promise. Now the oath when thing, when an
- 25:01oath is given, I want an oath is taken.
- 25:03That's that's some of the very key things to bear in mind here.
- 25:08Oh, those are given and O's are taken when an oath happens.
- 25:14There is an oaf Giver and an oath taker, at least in the the,
- 25:21the historical. Side of things like when again,
- 25:27I'm taking this as a very pointed thing to Mitch's
- 25:31question. Is it being oh, those are
- 25:33already Heathen thing. Yes, they are.
- 25:37That's not an untrue statement. I think it extends Beyond
- 25:39Heathen re and I think the meaning behind the oath can
- 25:42transcend into other cultures and into other polytheistic
- 25:46maybe or even non-religious World Views, but in this
- 25:50context, oh, those are given a nodes are taken.
- 25:53So, there is an oath Giver. Somebody who gives the oath,
- 25:57there is a witness, there's an audience there.
- 25:59There are people who are witness to this oath and then the person
- 26:02who is taking on that oath They're different than a promise
- 26:07in that. When we have a situation where
- 26:12and I'm just going to use an example that is that is close to
- 26:16me because it's so fresh in my mind.
- 26:19At certain events at certain holy Tides.
- 26:24It was documented especially over you'll that oh those were
- 26:28given and taken over the The boar for the for you all, they
- 26:35were their oath sworn on the boar. so, the way that I see it
- 26:43in the way that I've come to learn is that the way that an
- 26:46oath works is you have to have someone who gives the oath.
- 26:49Usually, the person who is, Whether it be the Lord
- 26:55Chieftain, go the, whatever of your group or Kindred is the
- 26:58oath Giver. You have the person who was
- 27:04taking that oath, the recipient, the one who says, I swear to do
- 27:07this that and the other, and then you have the people who are
- 27:10a part of it that are tying themselves in this whole
- 27:13exchange. There is, there is there is an
- 27:15exchange happening here. That is, that is connecting all
- 27:19of the group. so, Fundamentally as an example.
- 27:26I'm going to kind of just share with you guys.
- 27:29Something that happened this past year, or at you'll, which
- 27:33was in January for us. I took an oath.
- 27:37I took an oath and I was given an oath by my lost speaker, I
- 27:42guess. It was kind of like, it wasn't
- 27:43like an officially. Like, he didn't give it to me,
- 27:45and I took it, it was, it was kind of a thing where it was the
- 27:48way, that the way that it was all constructed at the time, it
- 27:52was, you know, I am, oh, thing in front of my tribe and I am
- 27:57being held responsible in front of my tribe, there's going to be
- 28:01repercussions if I fail to fulfill my oath and my oath was
- 28:06what it was. I'm not going to go into detail
- 28:08about it right now. There will come a time where I
- 28:10talk about this but now is not that time and basically the way
- 28:16that it panned out was the oath was to fulfill a task.
- 28:21The oath was to fulfill something that I felt.
- 28:23Felt was attainable and achievable.
- 28:27With challenges with dedication with things that I knew would
- 28:30not just be easy to do. It's like you know anybody can
- 28:33lose weight anyway. You can go on a diet anybody can
- 28:35exercise anybody can watch what they eat, you know, and lose
- 28:39weight, that's not enough. It's you know if you promise or
- 28:45if you say I want to lose 30 pounds in a year or whatever
- 28:48like that's unattainable goal and you can you can do that
- 28:52without having to enter into the oath.
- 28:55Process. Miles involved.
- 29:00Financial Obligations doing things that I normally wouldn't
- 29:05do financially to achieve this oath and and dedicated work, you
- 29:10know, maybe not my own physical labor, but enough of focus on on
- 29:16the whole thing to, you know, make sure move the camera there
- 29:23a little bit, sorry about that, that, I fulfilled that oath.
- 29:28So I said, Or I gave, you know, I took that as I'm going to do
- 29:33is and they were other people around me that are holding me
- 29:35responsible for that. And by doing so, they are now
- 29:38tied and they are now interwoven into the, the whole oath web as
- 29:44it were. If I fail to fulfill my oath,
- 29:46not only is my luck and is my girlfriend.
- 29:49My reputation damage, but their luck is now impact it because
- 29:53they have entered into that agreement with me.
- 29:55They are now holding me accountable and responsible for
- 29:59that they're lucky. Luck is as much on the line as
- 30:01mine is, maybe not as much, but to a degree.
- 30:05Their luck is on the line, right?
- 30:07If I don't fulfill my oath and they're gonna be like, what the
- 30:10f, dude, you said you were going to do it.
- 30:12You you were going to do this. And now if I don't fulfill this
- 30:15oath, what happens they? Hold me accountable.
- 30:18I have to pay recompense, I have to pay Shield.
- 30:23So this again this is all very Heathen Centric.
- 30:25This is all focused on the Heathen world view that Archie
- 30:28the world view of how things. Done in an ancient Society
- 30:31amongst the either warrior class specifically warrior class
- 30:37because that's what we have. That's documented hose were
- 30:39given taken amongst Warlords, Chieftains and there.
- 30:42And there you know, the y'all's in their Chieftains or the URLs
- 30:48in their Warlords. Write like this is a very common
- 30:50thing Kings. Even there's enough document its
- 30:54sources that support this so now, I'm going to insert the
- 31:02caveat that Mitch mentioned, whereas there was heathens.
- 31:05Or is it even thing? Right.
- 31:07It's a heathen Focus thing but it's what if you have non
- 31:10heathens present or what if there's not even, does it become
- 31:14irrelevant as to become not a thing anymore?
- 31:18I took my oath, my oath was given to me and I took my oath
- 31:21amongst heathens and non heathens alike.
- 31:25Right? One of my brother's one of my,
- 31:27one of the people who I am not blood kin to.
- 31:30But who is nonetheless? A brother, to me is not Pagan is
- 31:32not Heathen. However, they were present for
- 31:36the giving and taking of said oath, And they understood.
- 31:43The construct of it all. As long as the people are
- 31:49persons present, understand what is happening and agree to it.
- 31:55Then it really doesn't matter that their Heathen or not.
- 31:59If they accept the conditions of the oath, they accept that they
- 32:04are Ritually tying themselves to that person by simply being
- 32:11present, right? I've actually had events take
- 32:15place where when an oath is given or taken, right?
- 32:21Some people who do not want to be bound to that through the up
- 32:25through obligation. Leave the room.
- 32:28They remove themselves from the area because they're like, I
- 32:32don't want nothing to do with this, if something were to go
- 32:35sideways and And they can't fulfill that oath.
- 32:37I don't want my luck tied to this person's oath to, you know,
- 32:41to and have my luck damaged or compromised, as a result.
- 32:48So I feel that there is a responsibility.
- 32:51Whenever there is Oaths being given and taken to express that
- 32:55that, you know, hey, this is what it's about.
- 32:58This isn't just me, promising something to you guys.
- 33:00It isn't in just promising something myself.
- 33:02And your wins by entering into this agreement by by being
- 33:06present. You are effectively tying
- 33:09yourself. To the outcome of this.
- 33:12If I fail, you hold me accountable.
- 33:14If I win and if I succeed, and if my oath is fulfilled, then I
- 33:18can come back and I can give a bait and give a boast and your
- 33:21luck and mine is You know added to and you have you have then as
- 33:30as a participant of this agreement of this of this oath,
- 33:34you have, you know, entered into this thing and by my
- 33:39accomplishing said oath, your luck is now expounded upon you
- 33:44have now increased your own luck because you've agreed to tie
- 33:48yourself to me in that way. so, To the, to the, to the point of
- 33:56it being, you know, whether they're Christian, whether
- 33:59they're atheist, does it matter? Yes, it matters.
- 34:01It matters to the degree that they understand what is going on
- 34:06and why we're doing what we're doing, is everybody in
- 34:11agreement? And do they all understand if
- 34:13they don't, if they have questions?
- 34:14Are they taking the proper measures to ask and get
- 34:20understanding or if they understand fully and don't want
- 34:23to be a part of it? Are they?
- 34:25Removing themselves and and I've always done that.
- 34:27Like, I've always made it clear, like, hey guys, when we're about
- 34:30to enter into this thing when we're about to do with this, if
- 34:33anybody doesn't want to be a part of this, here's here's what
- 34:37you're doing by just simply being here.
- 34:38And if you don't want to be a part of this, then you need to
- 34:41consider that and perhaps remove yourself from the situation,
- 34:46right? Because an Indian and here's
- 34:50why. And it does it goes back to the
- 34:51worldview of of Artisans of when things like this were done and
- 34:56then documented sources of how it was done, So I don't think it
- 35:01inherently is a bad thing or damaging.
- 35:03Thing to include non heathens in your Oaths.
- 35:08But they need to understand that it the way that we do this, what
- 35:12we're doing this for the purpose behind, it does include you to a
- 35:16degree and you are now responsible for an accountable,
- 35:20you know, for that outcome and it's worked well enough for me
- 35:26in the way that I've done things, you know, actually this
- 35:30year at you'll. The this was the first time that
- 35:33I can say, for sure that any oath was give an end or taken,
- 35:40you know, and it's all about reality and it's all about, you
- 35:44know, setting a Attainable goal. If you're going to, if you think
- 35:53that the only way that you're going to accomplish something is
- 35:55to oath to do it. Then there needs to be some
- 35:58checks and balances in place, right?
- 35:59You shouldn't just be going here.
- 36:00But I, man, I need to lose 50 pounds in 2 months.
- 36:03There should be somebody like a Thule or lost bigger somebody
- 36:06that that is that is designated. At that moment to be like, hold
- 36:09on a minute, we were like 50 pounds in two months.
- 36:11That's 25 pounds a month. That's, you know, that's a,
- 36:15that's outrageous, you know, even if you were like, wow,
- 36:18Going to hard and working out and eating good.
- 36:21I mean, like, you're literally like starving yourself just to
- 36:23accomplish that potentially light or whatever.
- 36:26I'm just, you know, using that as a as a hypothetical, as a
- 36:30situation to. It's kind of like when you look
- 36:33at the Beowulf Saga, you know, when when when Beowulf says he's
- 36:37going to slay Grendel, he's going to do all these things.
- 36:42You know, he had his school, he you know he had that guy, I
- 36:46can't remember his name off the top, my head was at our members
- 36:52name, it's an Old English name and it's on the tip of my tongue
- 36:55but I don't want to miss speak and mispronounced it but he he's
- 37:01like, He challenges unlike he like calls out the fact that,
- 37:06you know, talking about this here are you up to the task and
- 37:09brings up some reality points? You know what I'm saying?
- 37:12So, there's that like there's that whole like a if somebody
- 37:15just comes in and wants to be like, I'm going to do x y z, I'm
- 37:19going to be this great big thing.
- 37:21I'm gonna, you know, whatever it is.
- 37:22There should be somebody in place too.
- 37:26Pump the brakes. Let's let's think about this.
- 37:29Have you thought about this? Are you sure you're up for the
- 37:32task? And they're the ones that
- 37:35typically will also set the Shield or set the recompense
- 37:40right? Well alright you say you're big
- 37:41and bad you think you're going to kill Grendel and all this
- 37:43kind of thing. You think you're going to do all
- 37:44this stuff that you say you're going to do?
- 37:47Well should you fail and there's a likelihood that you will or
- 37:52whatever? You know there might be some of
- 37:54that fleeting flighting, whatever, some of that gentle
- 37:59gentle maybe sometimes aggressive ribbing of sorts
- 38:03roasting of It's to be like you see you're going to do this, but
- 38:06you can't even do XYZ, you know, that sort of stuff.
- 38:11Here's what you're going to pay. If you fail, here's what you're
- 38:14going to do. If you fail. so when, when it
- 38:22comes to Oaths, Are they hidden thing?
- 38:25They are he'd think yes I mean they are definitely part of it
- 38:29and when it comes to a lot of What's Done among the Heathen
- 38:33tribes and even circles there, there's a nothung process,
- 38:37right? Especially when when when you
- 38:39have groups that are looking to acquire more members, there's
- 38:45there's a there comes a point in time, where a, after we've
- 38:48proven your worth, after we've seen that, you are worthy of
- 38:52being entered in and amongst our ranks.
- 38:54As it were now, it is time for you to swear fealty to your
- 39:00Chieftain, or swear loyalty and truth and oath yourself into
- 39:04that family, into that tribe. Doesn't have to be that you're
- 39:10100% Norse, Pagan or Germanic Pagan, or whatever.
- 39:13But as such and as, as you are wanted to be a part of
- 39:16something, you are, you are agreeing to the rules and
- 39:20regulations that come with being in that group.
- 39:22And then that tribe. So are the challenges that that
- 39:28come across with the, I don't know, being non Heathen,
- 39:33atheist. Whatever.
- 39:36As long as they understand what is at stake and what is being
- 39:42done for the reasons that it's being done.
- 39:46I don't I don't see anything particularly or inherently
- 39:50damaging to explore the oath process in the way that I've
- 39:56described it very Loosely to include people of non even,
- 40:03Persuasions. All right.
- 40:10And it might. At times, you know?
- 40:13And again, I think every situation is different.
- 40:15It might add an element of Or layer of complexity, to the
- 40:23point that it enhances the actual tribes growth and
- 40:28construct. so, but Mitch I hope that that helped answer the
- 40:35question and thank you for writing in as a reminder for
- 40:39everybody that is wanting to, you know, And I asked questions

- 42:15which was released some time ago.

- 42:19around, 2012, 2013, something like that.

- 42:27the track called either kanji. Okay, let me, let me just let me

- 49:03don't know man. Like, makes me want to do the
- 49:06polka. You ever seen polka done in the
