- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, thank you for having us on. It's Cubby, Christine,
- 0:01Speaker 1: producer Kristen on this Tuesday morning. And you were telling me, Christine,
- 0:07Speaker 1: because I have a daughter, I have a son too,
- 0:10Speaker 1: but because I have a daughter, that might mean something.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yes. Might mean that you'd make an excellent boss.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Well, those days have passed.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Wait a minute.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I had the chance.
- 0:21Speaker 2: No. You're saying there's a chance?
- 0:23Speaker 1: What does this mean, though? Why would I be a
- 0:24Speaker 1: good boss?
- 0:25Speaker 2: Okay, so we'll circle back to when Cubby had a chance.
- 0:29Speaker 1: That's a boss term right there.
- 0:30Speaker 2: That is a boss term right there. But yeah, apparently
- 0:33Speaker 2: girl dads are quote-unquote better bosses. So this is a
- 0:37Speaker 2: study over researchers that looked at so many different companies
- 0:41Speaker 2: and they find this pattern that when you have a
- 0:44Speaker 2: male boss who raised daughters, he is more likely to
- 0:48Speaker 2: hire women, promote women... And even help close the pay gap.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I love it.
- 0:55Speaker 1: All right. Well, we have a good boss here, though.
- 0:56Speaker 1: So we can't. I don't know if they're.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Well, we have a female boss.
- 0:59Speaker 1: A female boss.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Which is wonderful. Yeah. But this is about specifically with
- 1:03Speaker 2: the guys. The theory is that having a daughter makes
- 1:07Speaker 2: gender inequality more personal and easier to recognize. So no surprise.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Research found companies. didn't suffer any drop in performance when
- 1:16Speaker 2: more women were hired and promoted. So if you've got
- 1:18Speaker 2: a boss who's a proud girl dad, science says he
- 1:21Speaker 2: just might be a little more tuned into workplace fairness.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And again, that equal pay and hiring and promoting women.
- 1:27Speaker 1: That's very interesting.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Something we definitely look for, an attribute in a boss.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So go for it, Cubby.
- 1:34Speaker 1: You know, I never was a boss. I had the
- 1:36Speaker 1: opportunity one time.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I was wondering about that.
- 1:38Speaker 1: This was a long time ago when I was working
- 1:40Speaker 1: in Houston.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Oh, back, all the way back.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Before I came to Z100, I was about ready to
- 1:47Speaker 1: depart because I got the job offer here in New York.
- 1:50Speaker 1: And the general manager at the radio station I was
- 1:52Speaker 1: working at in Houston was like, would you like to
- 1:55Speaker 1: be program director here? Would you be the boss? And
- 1:58Speaker 1: I was the MD, the music director at that radio
- 2:00Speaker 1: station at the time. So that would have been a
- 2:02Speaker 1: promotion and I would have been in charge of the
- 2:03Speaker 1: programming team and I'd be interacting with the sales department,
- 2:07Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Lots of responsibility.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And I said, thank you so much. And I said, no.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And I came to New York and I, looking back,
- 2:16Speaker 1: things worked out, but I was also coming into a situation.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I didn't know how it was going to work out here.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So I had an easy, I could have said yes.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And probably still been there right now. Right. But the responsibility,
- 2:27Speaker 1: I just nothing but props and respect to bosses. Cause
- 2:29Speaker 1: you just have different personalities coming at you. You have
- 2:33Speaker 1: to put out fires all the time. You have to,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't know what your job is, but here in radio,
- 2:38Speaker 1: we have to talk to the sales department a lot.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And then we talk to the DJs. We have to
- 2:42Speaker 1: talk to the record labels, get the music. There's so
- 2:44Speaker 1: much going on.
- 2:45Speaker 2: There's got to be something rewarding in there that people
- 2:47Speaker 2: want to do it though.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Right. And I feel like the people that are doing it. Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They're cut out for it. That's why they're doing it.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Right. There's a certain personality type that's cut out for that.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I like talking to you every morning and leaving at 10. Yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And we're done.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Pretty much. Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 1: We're coming right back, though, with more music. Taylor Swift,
- 3:05Speaker 1: Light FM.
