- 0:00And we would love to have you. Johnny from Westbrook has done
- 0:02just that. So why don't I go to Johnny?
- 0:03Really quick Sir, How are things?
- 0:06You got 1/2 staked idea about them.
- 0:08Two 8 year old girls that got out.
- 0:11You know what were the teachers doing?
- 0:12Thinking about the Kitty cats and their doggies?
- 0:15How about they think about the kids while they're there?
- 0:18Somebody adults should have seen those kids and rain got them
- 0:23common sense. What are they have a special
- 0:26delegate And the other thing is Peter and whoever was around
- 0:29there and get a real parent type of person.
- 0:32What do you think? Yeah, John.
- 0:35I mean, I mean, I can't really comment too much on it because
- 0:39I, I only saw the story and I didn't really dive head first
- 0:42into it, so I couldn't give you all the details about
- 0:44everything. I do know that two students
- 0:47running away from a school fills me with many questions that may,
- 0:51may, may be very similar to yours, Johnny, about adults,
- 0:56supervision, who blew it and how they screwed it up.
- 0:59I mean, I'm not sure how that happens and I can't imagine
- 1:03being OK with allowing it to happen.
- 1:07They were found. I mean, the good news is that
- 1:09they were found. Of course they were found.
- 1:10They were cold and wet but otherwise uninjured when they
- 1:14were found on Wednesday. According to the staff at RSU
- 1:1810, the district Mountain Valley Community School is in is in.
- 1:23One of the 8 year old students initially boarded the wrong
- 1:26school bus with another student after being dismissed from Class
- 1:30A little after 2:00 PM. R SU-10 Superintendent Deborah
- 1:34Alden said that the school staff was notified about the situation
- 1:38by the bus driver on board, at which point both girls took off
- 1:41from campus on foot, going northbound up Highland Terrace
- 1:46Rd. Couple of staff went after them
- 1:48and weren't able to catch up with them.
- 1:50I'm not sure how that's possible.
- 1:51They're 8, but OK. Our administration, it
- 1:56immediately called the school's student resource officer who
- 1:59began assisting when that happened.
- 2:02Alden said that the school was able to use video from cameras
- 2:05on the bus and around outside the school to help law
- 2:08enforcement determine exactly which way the girls were
- 2:10heading. So I mean, I'm happy that they
- 2:12were found. That's obviously a good thing.
- 2:14But man, does that sound like a major screw up.
- 2:16I'm not sure how that happens, but it seems to be happening
- 2:20with increased rate regularity that like remember that one that
- 2:23happened a few months ago Where there was a kid on a bus alone
- 2:28for like 8 hours or whatever it was and then nobody noticed.
- 2:32It's just it's very concerning. So I would say Johnny, you and
- 2:35me on the same page. I think mostly with this Rick
- 2:39from Sanford is next. What's happening, Rick?
- 2:41Good morning, Matt. Hey, you know I I don't mean to
- 2:43get off topic or anything. There is no such thing on a
- 2:45Friday as off topic. You go where you want to go,
- 2:47Rick. Back in 71 on my birthday, I got
- 2:50a greetings from the federal government saying they had been
- 2:53drafted and I was down for a little while.
- 2:55And I, I remember hearing this piece by the by a gentleman
- 2:59called Gordon Sinclair. It's called The Americans.
- 3:03I don't know if you've ever heard it.
- 3:05Gordon Sinclair No, I have not. Oh, you probably ought to listen
- 3:08to that because it, you know, it really, when people start
- 3:12ragging on this country, maybe they ought to listen to Mr.
- 3:15Sinclair and that piece The Americans and really, really
- 3:20start thinking about what we really are, what we really.
- 3:23Were. You know, I mean, it, it, it
- 3:25says a lot about this country and who who we were and who we
- 3:29still are as a country. It it, it really, it's really a
- 3:33moving piece. I will check it out.
- 3:36I I'm looking it up while you're talking about it, and it's,
- 3:39it's, I think of course, it's definitely before my time.
- 3:41I try to catch a lot of things that I wasn't alive for.
- 3:43But that's probably the explanation for why I haven't
- 3:46heard too much about it. But I guess it was cited by
- 3:47Reagan as being very important to him.
- 3:49So yeah. Paul Harvey.
- 3:51Paul Harvey was before your time, too.
- 3:53Oh, I know Paul. Good stuff.
- 3:54I know Paul. Yeah, we'll see.
- 3:56Gordon Sinclair. Gordon Sinclair is a Canadian
- 3:57broadcaster. So that's, that's my explanation
- 4:00is that I don't, you know, I don't always 100% keep up on all
- 4:03of our Canadian friends, but nonetheless, Rick, that's a good
- 4:08suggestion. I, I will check it out and
- 4:10thanks for suggesting it. You know, in looking at the, the
- 4:14description of it or what not, you know, seems like a buck up
- 4:18speech, like a, you know, like, hey guys, you know, you're,
- 4:21you're, you're pretty good. Like, you know, I know things
- 4:23don't look so awesome right now, but you know, like, you guys are
- 4:26pretty cool. So feel a little bit better
- 4:28about yourself. I think a national pep talk may
- 4:31in fact be in place or should be in place for now, right?
- 4:35I think there's a lot of, there's a lot of the need for us
- 4:37to feel a little bit better right now about how things are
- 4:39going and where things can be. And despite all the problems and
- 4:42the difficulties, you know what, what life in America actually
- 4:45still is, which is pretty great. Yeah.
- 4:47It's not a bad idea. Appreciate it.
- 4:49You guys are diverting me all over the place and I like that.
- 4:51I'm looking up on my on my CBS13 feed, though, on TV, and they're
- 4:55covering the debate from last night.
- 4:57We sort of talked on that a little bit earlier when we were
- 5:01chatting about the now alliances forming.
- 5:04To explain what you saw there. I mean, I don't know what
- 5:06Wessels is up to, but but the David Jones Midgley bromance,
- 5:13shall I call it a bromance that seems pretty obviously based in
- 5:18antipathy to Bobby Charles because Charles is viewed as
- 5:22either the front runner or possibly the front runner, I
- 5:25guess. And that's, that's been pretty
- 5:28consistent through the last, you know, four or five months of the
- 5:31race. So if you don't like Bobby
- 5:33Charles, you are looking for someone else and the someone
- 5:38else that has emerged the most. And again, according to
- 5:42anecdotal stuff, polling in preferences in in party
- 5:46conventions and all that stuff, it has thus far been Midgley
- 5:50more than the others. So if you're David Jones and you
- 5:53really don't like Bobby Charles, which is true, he really
- 5:56doesn't, he really doesn't, then you are very likely to look for
- 6:00the most viable alternative to him and throw your weight behind
- 6:04him. And that's exactly what he did
- 6:05last night. So I would say that's your
- 6:08explainer there with Bob Wessels.
- 6:09I, I just, it is the IT is the weirdest thing I've ever seen to
- 6:15join your rivals campaign while still campaigning for yourself.
- 6:20I don't even know what the thought process is behind that.
- 6:25I definitely understand if you vote for me, great.
- 6:28Please vote for this person second.
- 6:30You know, if I can't get it, I think they deserve it.
- 6:32I really hate campaigning like that because I think the ranked
- 6:34choice voting is dumb and I don't like it and I don't like
- 6:37people can't. I don't mind people ranking
- 6:40while it is a legal law and it's in existence.
- 6:42I mean, I will rank. I am going to rank.
- 6:45I don't like it but I will do it.
- 6:47But to actively campaign on the ranking is just dirty to me.
- 6:50I don't like it at all, but I I understand it at least.
- 6:52Though as much as I don't like it, I do understand it.
- 6:56I don't understand joining someone's campaign and being a
- 7:01coordinator for an entire Congressional District for them
- 7:05while also keeping your campaign.
- 7:08I mean like suspend yours. Like quit.
- 7:09If you're going to do that, quit.
- 7:12I mean, and and if you're Robert Wessels, you have to know that
- 7:14you're not winning at this point, right?
- 7:15So you might as well, you know, maybe maybe hit your wagon to
- 7:19somebody, maybe actually help them out.
- 7:21Maybe if you are coordinating something for them, maybe you
- 7:24could actually do the work because you aren't going to be
- 7:26distracted by your own campaign. I don't know.
- 7:29But I wonder too, and maybe this is another thing I'll pick up
- 7:32with you guys when we have more opportunities to talk later in
- 7:34the program. 879-9426 But I wonder too, with Bobby Charles
- 7:38skipping this debate also, do you think that is actively
- 7:44harming him at this point? Do you think that that is a
- 7:48decision which is going to lead to his support eroding even a
- 7:54little bit more than a little bit?
- 7:57Do you think that he's going to potentially harm himself if he
- 8:00ends up losing? He's so consistently been in the
- 8:03lead in whatever limited polling that we've had and all the
- 8:07anecdotal stuff that we've seen, he's been in the lead and in the
- 8:09lead often times comfortably. If he somehow ends up losing,
- 8:14you got a point at this as being one of the things that would be
- 8:18why. I mean, I think it's a, it's
- 8:20just strategically, I think it's just such a mistake for him to
- 8:24be skipping debates like this. Skipping an occasional debate is
- 8:27fine, but when you skip, if you know, two in a row like this and
- 8:31you're getting into the more important ones when people are
- 8:33actually paying attention and they're going to be widely
- 8:36viewed because you're talking about, you know, CBS 13 debate
- 8:40or you're, you're talking about, you know, a major media debate
- 8:42in Maine. That's the ones that you want to
- 8:45show up for because that's when people are watching it and
- 8:49you're not. And that's, I don't know, I
- 8:52think it's a it's a risk. It's a big risk.
- 8:54And it might bite him in the rear end.
- 8:55It might be meaningless. I don't know.
- 8:57I'd be interested in your thoughts when we come back.
