Transcript
- 0:00Yeah yah yah yah, yeah yahyah. Welcome to the treehouse. I'm down
- 0:25on Malley. He's Alphi koy tray tray and'll yeah yeah yeah. Okay,
- 0:28now that we're all introduced, everyone knows everybody is Alphie. Well I'm so
- 0:32happy. You want to know why? Please? Why? Why? Ask
- 0:35me why I did? But you may ask you again one one of you
- 0:39two obviously not me because I'm married. One of you two, either you
- 0:42or Trey, recently had a big, hot romantic date. And guess who
- 0:46it was. Oh man, Okay, it's me or Trey. Uh huh.
- 0:51But I asked you why you were so happy, So I mean that
- 0:54kind of that's a clue as to who it might be us. It's either
- 0:57me or Trey. God, damn it. I think it's Alfy. I
- 1:00think I think it might be me too. I'm not sure though, If
- 1:03you're not sure that it didn't appear to be a good date, yeah,
- 1:07oh, they rarely are. Uh it's a tough, tough setup. Um,
- 1:14I'm gonna go with Trey. Oh, that would be correct. Okay,
- 1:17So here's what we need to do. So tracing me a text.
- 1:19It was it was yesterday or earlier, today. Hell, I can't remember.
- 1:23I can't keep up, you know, brains cancer. Um, Trey
- 1:26had said that he went on a date. So I am very much looking
- 1:30forward to this because you two as the single guys of the show, I
- 1:34want to hear about your about your dating lives because well, if we're being
- 1:38honest, they're not that active. So whenever you guys actually go out there
- 1:42and and meet somebody, I want you to know how interested and invested in
- 1:47your lives I am. And we he had nos he's parted. It's okay,
- 1:52be a nosey. I'm nosy. That's on my resume at the top,
- 1:55it says Alfie Coy Nosy. I'm still I'm still coming to terms with
- 2:00with my nosiness level. It's I'm working on it. I'm becoming more accepting
- 2:04of it each each and every day. Um. But I want you,
- 2:07Alphie to know that this is the level of excitement I too will have uh
- 2:13huh in the off chance you go on a date. Yeah, well,
- 2:15okay, can I ask it? I don't want to ask Trey just yet
- 2:17because I don't want to spell the beans. No, but what was he
- 2:23excited about it? When he told you about it? Was he kind of
- 2:25like you know, I was like, hey, Dan, I had a
- 2:30hot date. Or he's like, you know, Dan, I had a
- 2:31date. Well it was it was via text message, so I couldn't get
- 2:37a whole lot of the tone from it. Or there emoji's eggplant splashing emoji.
- 2:43No, there were no emojis. Tray was being quite mysterious about it,
- 2:46and I appreciate that because I like there to be some mystery. Uh.
- 2:51So we can talk about these things with honest reactions here in the treehouse.
- 2:55So here's what I'm proposing, Alphie, in preparation of Trey regaling us
- 3:02with the uh this romantic story of what perhaps could be the first of many
- 3:07dates. Maybe it's the first date of his eventual UH spouse, I say,
- 3:13we get properly ready for an excellent story. What say you? Oh,
- 3:16yeah, Trey, you got a lots of tilt till to spee tea
- 3:22to spell, easy for you to say. All right, So I know,
- 3:29I just uh, Tara, thank you. She just brought me some
- 3:32some snacks. You heard Trey had a date, and she she went and
- 3:35grabbed a snack so we can enjoy the story together. Lucky, I got
- 3:38here do you have Do you have one headphone flipped upside down so she can
- 3:43hear? Oh yeah, absolutely, Okay, look around, make sure she
- 3:49brought halapino, cheddar snack things. Okay, so I got that, Alphie,
- 3:55What do you have? I got a cup of tea and a warm
- 3:59blanket. That's good. Cut up next to the next of the trend home
- 4:03fire. Yeah yeah, like hoopen these up here to make sure these tastes
- 4:13good before I hear a trade's story we break up. They sound delicious.
- 4:20My near drink on. Alpha, you showed you have tea. I have
- 4:24tea. Of course I got tea. This is all right. Hang on,
- 4:27gotta what do you got iced tea or hot tea? Hot tea?
- 4:30Of course me not. What does that mean, Dan? What does that
- 4:34mean? Is this? That is that foreshadowing for the dates? I don't
- 4:36know right? Why are you? Why are you doing this? The master
- 4:44storyteller is already started. Oh my goodness, okay, so I got my
- 4:46I got my crun cheese, I've got my fresco. Hang on, do
- 4:57Alpha you have any mood music? Oh yeah, I'll give me I find
- 5:00some mood music. Let's see what you're happening before our here to store.
- 5:08Let's go with this guy right here. All right, Alfa, are you
- 5:15good? I'm set, all right, Trey, We're ready to hear your
- 5:23story about your hot day. All right. So, uh met this girl.
- 5:30That's a good start. Yeah, she uh met all the requirements that
- 5:36I kind of currently have for dating. I mean, consent, consent um.
- 5:44It's always a good start, you know, financially can take care of
- 5:47themselves something your last relationship good and um, kids are have to be at
- 5:57least close to graduation. If not, they're not are flown the coop.
- 6:00This one happened to be. Her kids have already gone off to college,
- 6:02empty nest, perfect now on a perfect esscer start and sexual it. If
- 6:11you've ever dealt with kids, it is to not deal with them. Um.
- 6:16So we uh we met for a drink. Now obviously I don't yeah,
- 6:23but yeah I don't care if she does, and yeah, better for
- 6:27you. So anyways, we uh met out a spot, you know,
- 6:31just kind of like a happy hour first meet. See how it, oh,
- 6:36kind of left it open, gonna see where how things went or everything
- 6:40else. One of the few times you actually go on a date like this
- 6:46and she looked like her pictures. Oh that's a that's a good thing.
- 6:50That is a good thing. Yeah, it's sad that that's you know,
- 6:54a bar that has to be crossed. But yeah, not control on the
- 7:00shop, not a troll. And you know I didn't haven't asked three times
- 7:03my size, Um does not know photoshop will be good. Yeah, So
- 7:10we we start, you know, your typical first date banter. You know,
- 7:15it was kind of feeling each other out a little bit, seeing what
- 7:18the person likes, doesn't like everything else. And it started off great,
- 7:24attractive. Like I said, she kind of met all the requirements. All
- 7:29right. So um we're talking and just you know, talking about various things
- 7:35and kind of like how life has changed, you know, dating in your
- 7:44dating in your late forties, early fifties, blows in general. Yeah,
- 7:49and um, I made a joke, as I have done, you know
- 7:54in the past, about how you know, I laughed at you know,
- 7:58I used to, like one of the biggest things on a Saturday night for
- 8:01me to make sure I had was booze. And if I didn't make sure
- 8:07to get to the liquor store before nine o'clock. Oh, that's a fun
- 8:09race. I've done that. Yeah, we've all done that. You know.
- 8:13You look at the clock, it's eight forty and you're like, oh
- 8:15crap, time to pretend I'm in the f one. Yeah. And uh,
- 8:20you know, for those who are professionals like I was, you know,
- 8:24you know exactly where the nearest liquor store is and quickest route to get
- 8:28there and make sure you can get in and out four nine o'clock and and
- 8:31how long the lights are. Yeah, and so I made a joke about
- 8:35that. You know, it's like hell, it used to be that,
- 8:37you know, Saturday night, my biggest concern was making sure, you know,
- 8:43I had enough booze to get me through that night and Sunday. And
- 8:46now now I'm more worried about, you know, if get the bed on
- 8:50time and make sure I have my moisturizer to put on at night. Yeah,
- 8:56I thought you're talking about your face. Okay, now the places too,
- 9:00well, soon, thing's got to stay moist m H supple soft.
- 9:07Yeah. I was just talking about, you know, facial moisturizer, make
- 9:11sure, trying not to wrinkle, trying to delay it. And she um
- 9:16looked at me and she goes, what kind of man wears moisturizer kind of
- 9:22a pansy thing to do. So what the benefits of looking youthful? Well,
- 9:33that's you know, I there's a multiple red flags there, which is
- 9:37a although she she looked good for her age, like, so you don't
- 9:43take care of yourself or you just like basically you know, She's like,
- 9:48I just don't you think men should be doing that? I said, so
- 9:50you want to, you know, end up with someone who looks like Tommy
- 9:54Lee Jones. I said, you have good luck to you have a nice
- 9:56night, and I will. Oh that was it. You were just like
- 10:01peace? Yeah, yeah, I was just like peace. I mean,
- 10:05seriously, if if what took longer the date or you telling the story about
- 10:09the date, me telling the story about the date, because I, oh
- 10:13god, damn it. Trade, I was trying to stretch. That's a
- 10:20terrible story. Well it was Dr Terry, you want some of these Trade
- 10:24story was really crap. She lost her appetite thanks a lot trade. Hey,
- 10:30notice in my text I never said it was a great story. I
- 10:33just said, you know, I had a date, asked me, you
- 10:35know, but so yeah, actually, you know, it took me longer
- 10:39to get my car out of Valet than it did h the date itself.
- 10:45So yeah, that's actually an additional insult to injury because you actually went to
- 10:50the trouble to Valet. I went to the trouble Valet. I bought her
- 10:54drink, so you know, it was five minutes, twenty five bucks,
- 10:58and it's like, wow, I could have been at home moisturizing. Yeah,
- 11:05moisturizing and enjoying my dog. That's such a dumb ass hill to die
- 11:09on for a woman like I get. And I was actually really curious as
- 11:13to what your you know, what's the word kind of um minimums are for
- 11:18dating somebody, your standards or whatever the hell they're called your minimum Well,
- 11:24no, I don't know what the what the proper term is. What is
- 11:26that pulse? A job? You can get what I'm saying. What's that
- 11:31term? What's the word I'm looking for? I don't care what it is.
- 11:35It's now minimums. Trey on your next day, whenever that may be,
- 11:41be sure to ask her do I meet all your minimums? Or tell
- 11:45her, you know what, you're lucky to be here because you met all
- 11:46my minimums. What's the term KPIs your key performance indicators point is is that
- 12:00we'll have them. Some people's are a little bit more unreasonable than others,
- 12:03but you know, if that's what you're going for, that's what you're going
- 12:07for. And she has an idiotic one, a dumb ass one. What
- 12:13is it if if a man decides to, you know, wear lotion.
- 12:16I mean, hell, that's that's just so idiotic. I know, I
- 12:22don't dude, combat veterans that use moisturizer on a daily basis. You want
- 12:28to know why because they want to look young for as long as they can.
- 12:31Because really it was also probably really fff and dry in the desert and
- 12:35they feel like cooling off the bit once they make it home. Ain't nothing
- 12:39wrong with that. I'd also like to point out my dad did not pass
- 12:43on a ton of things to me. Uh. He passed on some great
- 12:48information and some good advice. Two things that he did pass on one was,
- 12:52and I still appreciate it to this day, he said, I'll never
- 12:56force advice on you. If you come to me looking for it, I
- 12:58will happy offer it, but it's up to you to take it. And
- 13:03the other thing he told me is moisturized and I'm not making that up.
- 13:05He actually did. He's like if you want to keep looking young, you
- 13:09know, but some moisturize are on your face. That's really at all all
- 13:11it is that and staying out of the sun sunscreen, and then showed me
- 13:16how to use the miter salt, the box miter or like the the Dwalt
- 13:22dualt. Okay, you ever use a box miter before? I have not.
- 13:26It's pretty nice. So you get gets a lot of sawdust everywhere,
- 13:28just like the Dwalt. But you know, then you gotta you gotta moisturize
- 13:31afterwards. Yeah. See he didn't want to show me that because he had
- 13:35just moisturized and he didn't want Hi much to sawdust on his face. Makes
- 13:37sense, I get that. Yeah, he didn't want to look ridiculous,
- 13:43by the way, Trey. So I put my frescot down and I grabbed
- 13:46a stronger drink to commemorate your date, terrible court. That actually reminds me
- 13:52This past Friday, I was at the mall and in the store next to
- 13:58me shopping or mall walking. Now I was, I was shopping, But
- 14:03this past Friday I was at the mall and uh, there was a girl
- 14:07there that I went to high school with. It I had a crush on
- 14:11and I look over and she is just an old lady like I. It
- 14:16sounds like such a dick thing to say, But she did not age well,
- 14:20And I don't know what that says about me, like if if I'm
- 14:24older than I perceived myself to be, or if she just didn't take care
- 14:28of herself at all. But she looked terrible. She may have had her
- 14:33rough twenties. Man, maybe, but it's it's odd how some people can
- 14:37can age tremendously in a relatively short amount of time. I guess, and
- 14:46I've seen other people that i've you know, that I've went to high school
- 14:48with, and they look fantastic. So it's not like everyone's elderly now.
- 14:52It's just I look over at her, and it took it took a second.
- 14:58Yes, I was like, crap, is that you and I just
- 15:01ran the other direction. I bugged out of her skull. I will say
- 15:07this, Alphie, and you're you're You've probably got a twentieth high school reunion
- 15:11coming up in the next couple of years. I would guess, so your
- 15:15twentieth that's everyone that is, everyone will look their best, Yeah you think
- 15:20so, oh yeah, oh so you're not you're not counting like the tenth
- 15:24anniversary. Then I generally my class, like I would say everyone looked their
- 15:31best in their thirties, because you know, everyone was kind of an S
- 15:33show in their twenties. So yeah, probably a little more haggard, but
- 15:39but compared to and I say that, but then when you get to the
- 15:43thirtieth, holy crap, everything goes Oh that's that's when genetics really starts showing
- 15:52through. And and you know, some people look great, and then there's
- 15:56other people you're like, you know, I your story BAR used to work
- 16:00at. I looked over at this table and I thought, oh, you
- 16:07know it. You know, it looks like a bunch of you know,
- 16:10granddads. And it turns out one of the guys was a guy I went
- 16:14to high school with. And I was like, oh my god. Yeah,
- 16:18it's a freaky feeling, isn't it. Do you want an know the
- 16:19difference between you and him. He don't moisturize or watched his waiter or anything
- 16:30for that matter. So what you're saying is the thirtieth anniversary is the one
- 16:33where everybody really needs to name tags, yes, because otherwise you're not going
- 16:38to know who that was from high school? No, dude, one of
- 16:44my exes had this like fourteen bottle routine that she would go through every night
- 16:48before going to bed. You know what I mean. That's funny. Trey
- 16:51used to have one, but it was four booze? Is that gonna have
- 16:55to go to break on you? Notice he's not denying it. Okay,

- 20:18honest opinion. Quality people big in the community, and I want to make
- 20:22sure they take care of the Treehouse clients, so give them a call the
- 20:25website cook at THEFW dot com. So I'm guessing Trey that, uh,
- 20:32there's been no further discussion with the anti moisturizing date lady. No. No,
- 20:38I think you know, when you abruptly get up and leave someone,
- 20:42Uh, they clearly took a hint that it wasn't going to work. Did
- 20:52you both get up at like the same time? Or is this more like,
- 20:56was she surprised that you told her to f off because she didn't like
- 20:59the fact that you like to moisturize. Oh, she was surprised by it.
- 21:03You she didn't deserve anything better than what you did. I mean,
- 21:06absolutely nothing better than what you did. I think I was more shocked because
- 21:12women are you know, all men have really done is kind of picked up
- 21:18what women have been doing for years, which is moisturizing and trying to take
- 21:22better care of yourself. Yeah, and so yeah, I was, you
- 21:26know, I was shocked by it. But you know, each their own.
- 21:32It's like, I guess I do like the fact that you know,
- 21:33I do like the fact that you did throw Tommy Lee Jones in her face,
- 21:37because I mean if you don't moisturize that, you know, because we
- 21:44made the joke about it. You had a fourteen bottle, you know,
- 21:47nightly habit with alcohol. But let's be honest, alcohol drives you out.
- 21:51So you're doing things in your life now to sort of counteract the effects of
- 21:56years of alcohol abuse, one of which is, you know, moisturizing.
- 22:00Otherwise she's gonna end up married to a Tommy Lee Jones look alike. And
- 22:03I don't remember Tommy Lee Jones ever really being referred to as a heart throb.
- 22:07Ever, No, you can go back. I mean, my earliest
- 22:12memories of Tommy Lee Jones, I think are probably lonesome dove and he looked
- 22:15old then and he wasn't even that old. Ultimate it's ultimately a giant red
- 22:22flag that is going to rear its head in other ways. Like I was
- 22:26saying before the break is I had an exit had like a fourteen bottle moisturizing
- 22:30routine before she would go to bed. It was little bits of this serum
- 22:34and that hyaluronic and the other you know, moisturizer tincture and whatever, and
- 22:41yeah, the the ironic acids, yeah exactly. And I thought I thought
- 22:45about like, you know, hey, this is kind of silly, But
- 22:47then I realized she's doing that for me, you know what I mean,
- 22:51She's doing yea to make sure that she still looks good. And it may
- 22:56not wholly be for me because she did break up with me, but so
- 23:00so the next guy too. It started it started as you, but then
- 23:04it ended up being for the next guy. Yeah, exactly. At least
- 23:08at least you are included in this scenario. Yeah, And I'm not going
- 23:12to make fun of somebody that's a taking care of themselves and be doing that
- 23:18taking care of themselves in part for you. It's idiotic to trash somebody who
- 23:26is It's idiotic to trash somebody who is actively doing something that will benefit you.
- 23:33Treys out there making sure that he looks good for the next woman,
- 23:36and for this lady to crap on him for it, she deserved even less
- 23:41if Yeah, it's also should escorted it at hertly that but what what what
- 23:47that also spied? What that also speaks to because uh, if she can't
- 23:51recognize the fact that Tray's taking care of himself in general for you know,
- 23:53her benefit or the benefit or the next woman, that he's never inevitably going
- 23:57to date. Then that's another issue. You know, It's like not just
- 24:03the fact that that she doesn't think it's mainly enough, but also the fact
- 24:06that she can't recognize or appreciate effort. If you don't recognize and appreciate effort,
- 24:11that's a massive, massive red flag. Exactly the same God. And
- 24:15then let's let's flipping around, because let's take something like like alfie you said,
- 24:22Trey in this case, or men doing some things like say moisturizing,
- 24:25taking care of their face or whatever, so we look pretty for the ladies.
- 24:30Let's flipping around when we on our ends, as a guy see a
- 24:34woman doing something that might be considered more masculine, we appreciate it. For
- 24:37example, on the first date, if Trey's date lasted longer, maybe she
- 24:42tells Trey, oh, I love going to the gym and working out.
- 24:45That wasn't something that women did very often. You know, when exercise and
- 24:49working out and lifting weights was mostly a male thing, and then when chicks
- 24:53started doing it, men saw the benefit and go, yeah, this is
- 24:56cool. We can go to the gym together and I could watch or due
- 24:59squats. I don't I don't even think about that sort of thing. To
- 25:00me, there are very very few things in life that are like straight masculine
- 25:04or straight feminine. It's if somebody wants to work out, they can work
- 25:07out. Somebody wants to moisturize, they want to moisturize. To me,
- 25:10there is no difference whatsoever in male or female. There it's it's good as
- 25:15good, and uh, no gender or lack thereof holds the patent on good
- 25:21stuff, you would think. But clearly it was to this chick that's unfortunate.
- 25:26Was she idiot? Well, and it's such, it's like, and
- 25:30she was older than I am. I think she was fifty two, and
- 25:34she looked great, like clearly took very good care of herself, and like,
- 25:40why wouldn't you want that in a partner? And maybe she's into the
- 25:47ape of the gooda type. That's what probably is. She's probably fifty two
- 25:49years old and still has daddy issues. M that I actually yeah, her
- 25:56parents were actually were still together, and I'm assuming that how she sees her
- 26:03father is how she thinks her mate should be. And old, yeah,
- 26:07old and you know, old and looking older. But it's well, it's
- 26:17one of those things and maybe I maybe because of my age, it's it's
- 26:22becoming more and more apparent. But like my parents, like my dad,
- 26:27like there used to be in that generation, it was I think, almost
- 26:33like a foregone conclusion of well, you turn fifty, you're kind of,
- 26:37you know, getting close to retirement. You know, time to hit the
- 26:40rocking chair, and well, and we're not like that, like the world
- 26:45has changed. And you know, I don't think anyone thinks of I mean,
- 26:49even if I won the lottery tomorrow, I don't think I would quote
- 26:52unquote retire because I'd be bored out of my mind and a week and hell,
- 26:56I've been out of work for two months and I'm some of that was
- 27:03scheduled, but then, you know, I'm bored now. I can't even
- 27:04imagine actually being retired and not having anything to do day in and day out.
- 27:12I actually learned from my grandfather, you know what. You know,
- 27:15my grandfather's idea of retirement was cattle ranching. He retired at the age of
- 27:22fifty five from Phillips Petroleum Company. Right retires at fifty five, what does
- 27:26he do with his retirement? He goes and buys like two hundred acres and
- 27:30started raising cattle. He became a cattle rancher in his retirement, which keep
- 27:34in mind, if you're a farmer, you're a rancher. Anything agricultural like
- 27:38that. There are no off days. Every day is a working day.
- 27:41And that was his idea of retirement. He did that for like twenty years
- 27:45before he finally officially actually retired and then just lived in his recliner. Yeah,
- 27:52anything farming ranch that's dairy business is probably the worst because I grew up
- 28:02with a guy who lived on his family had a dairy farm. Because those
- 28:04cows have to be milked twice a day every day, and no if,
- 28:07no ends, no butts. You're married to it. And you know what,
- 28:11you know what, Actually it makes really good moisturizer milk. What you
- 28:15get, you get a little bit in a bucket and then you just just
- 28:18lathered on your face and you look like an angel. Well I figured you
- 28:22just scored it directly on. Well, that depends, and you know,
- 28:26the delivery method is really a preference type of thing. I don't like this
- 28:30conversation, and I'm usually the one that starts this kind of conversation. Weird
- 28:34being on the receiving end and say giving it isn't it? It's uncomfortable.
- 28:37I just have an image of Dan under a cow teat with his cat tongue
- 28:41hanging out. As much as I hate that punchline, do not explain any
- 28:48other. I want someone new that does no idea what you're talking about to
- 28:52really really be mystified right now, car go worries moreisturizing real quick? Can
- 29:00I can? I can? I can? I just kind of break this
- 29:03for a moment and and just tell you Alphie and Trey how much I appreciate
- 29:07you guys. Why I mean it, I really, I really do mean
- 29:11this. It was a couple of days ago. I was having an absolute
- 29:15crap day, and at the end of the day, I thought, you
- 29:22know what, at least I get to hang out with my buddies, you
- 29:25know, in a day and a half, and hopefully I'll feel a little
- 29:27bit better. And I do, so I thank you for that. What
- 29:32time do you start drinking? I actually the first ship I had was the
- 29:36one I uncorked just a few minutes ago to sort of commemorate the death of
- 29:41your date. Well, it was a lovely compliment, Thank you, yam.
- 29:47Speaking of drinking, why isn't it that more old people who retire don't
- 29:49get into drinking and drugs because if you got nothing in my plan since I
- 29:55was in high school, because I didn't do a ton of it in high
- 29:56school. I mean I did some drinking. I experiment a little bit,
- 30:00you know, like weed, but I didn't do anything hard like a number
- 30:03of friends did. I wasn't looking to try to score a keg every weekend.
- 30:07I wasn't trying to define hits of acid on a Friday night, you
- 30:11know, or anything like that I had. I had other focuses. But
- 30:14I told myself, when I'm older and I retire, I'm gonna do some
- 30:18stuff. I'm gonna experiment with some things that I never have. Yeah.
- 30:21Like in there's a movie called Children of Men, And in the movie,
- 30:23Michael Caine plays a like an aging hippie who's like was once working in I
- 30:30don't know, biotech or some crap, and all of a sudden he's just
- 30:34growing weed and like doing mushrooms. And it kind of struck me as like,
- 30:40why aren't more old people doing that once they retire. They've got all
- 30:44this money saved, they ain't gotta you know, worry about a drug test
- 30:47on a job. Nope, Why isn't Why isn't Colorado filled with retirees like
- 30:52Florida is, Well, the old people love cocaine and that's why they're in
- 30:56Florida. That could could be part of it that I think that could be
- 31:02a big part of it. But I'm with it like like like for me,
- 31:04I look, I'm looking forward to that time when because I don't like
- 31:08losing control. Really, that's why I don't do hard drugs. So the
- 31:12idea of taking a hit of acid terrifies me. Doing shrooms worries me because
- 31:17I don't know where I'll end up. But by the time I'm seventy and
- 31:18fully retired, if I eat a couple of mushrooms, you know, suck
- 31:22on a gummy, or you know, take a hit or two of acid
- 31:26over a weekend and I end up naked standing on top of the ball at
- 31:30Reunion Tower, so be it. I'm retired, Solsal Security will cover my
- 31:34bail. It just feels like like the kind of I don't mean natural course
- 31:41of progression, but Trey, like you were saying, it's a danger if
- 31:47you don't have something to do, if you don't have a routine every day.
- 31:48There's a danger of falling into that just drinking a bunch, And it
- 31:53just surprises me that old folks aren't constantly drunken high Did you ever meet John
- 32:02or Russ? Is twelve minutes long enough for a segment only if we really
- 32:10really swear it makes the next segment longer. Okay, good, you're in
- 32:16Blue Treehouse. Visit us online at Treehouse OnAir dot com. All right,
- 32:35time to welcome in Jacqueline from Brooks Plumbing the website Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com
- 32:40for any and all of your plumbing needs, give them a call two one,
- 32:44four, three six eight thirty eight thirty eight. Hello Jacqueline, how's
- 32:47your week been? I am tired, but we are good. A lot
- 32:52of plumbing issues going on in people's lives. Yeah, you can't outsource it,
- 32:59and it always seems to pop up when you least expect it. And
- 33:02you know, Murphy's Law dictates that it's going to happen on a weekend or
- 33:06after hours, and that's just the way of the world. Unfortunately, that
- 33:09is that is true. Unfortunately, So let's let's actually piggyback on that.
- 33:12Can you give me an example, you know, sometime over this past week
- 33:15where something occurred in someone's home or some other scenario. But you're just really,
- 33:20really proud of something that one of your guys did in doing a great
- 33:24job for one of your customers. I mean, for me, I think
- 33:30customer service is about the little things. So I had a gentleman call not
- 33:36too terribly long ago, and he said, I feel silly, but I'm
- 33:38an older gentleman, and I'm as i've grown older, I've grown a little
- 33:42weaker. And I turned on an exterior hose bib where you would hook up
- 33:45a garden hose, and it's very stiff, and I just can't get it
- 33:49turned off. I'm not too far from your office. How much would you
- 33:52charge me to just come shut off the water? And I just told him,
- 33:55I said, that's absolutely ridiculous. I'm not going to charge you for
- 33:59that. We're but we're gonna come and we're gonna do it, and I'll
- 34:02knock on the door and let you know when we're there and when it's done.
- 34:07It's just about the little things. And I've got a little lady that
- 34:09we do a lot of business for, you know, over the years,
- 34:13and I like I told you. At one point in time, we are
- 34:15having a conversation. She's she's legally blind, and she said, I'm really
- 34:17running low on milk. Would you mind grabbing me a gallon of milk?
- 34:22And I'll pay you for the time and pay you for the milk. And
- 34:24I told her, I said, I will grab you the milk. We
- 34:28will not charge you. You know, it just feels good to do the
- 34:30little things, especially for the seniors. Um And that same lady, I
- 34:32don't know if anybody's been to Keller's in Dallas, that same lady asked me
- 34:36one day if we would bring her a number five special from Keller's because she
- 34:39wanted a burger. So we went and got her to burger. Sometimes it's
- 34:43just about being a good person. So that's amazing. That really is amazing,
- 34:47because you know, I see and I have seen, you know,
- 34:51other plumbing companies quote unquote the big guys running around doing all these things and
- 34:54and and I've used some of them and they're very good. But I love
- 35:00the personal touch that you and your guys bring at Brooks Plumbing. Granted I'm
- 35:05not going to abuse it like others and ask you to you know, bring
- 35:08me food. But I love the fact that you do it for those that
- 35:12you see that need that additional help. So you want to support a company
- 35:15that does many great things besides what they do for a living, It's time
- 35:21to call Brooks Plumbing for again, any and all of your Brooks Plumbing needs

- 37:37tells you how you know, how big of experts they are in the plumbing
- 37:42industry and for a fraction of the cost of the big guys. So good
- 37:47plumbing at a great phrase Brooks Plumbing Texas dot Com. Dan, you said
- 37:54earlier you were having a bad day. You want to Yeah, it was
- 37:58a couple of days ago. It's just one of those days where nothing was
- 38:00going right. You want to tell you buddies by you want to tell us
- 38:02all about it, Dan, You want to let us know we got you.
- 38:07We're here for you. I mean, not so much me, but
- 38:09I mean Tray, all right, I'll mainly look at Tray for this.
- 38:15Yeah, and I'll just listen for the snide comments from Alfie, which by
- 38:20the way, is kind of the show in a nutshell. No, the
- 38:23other day, it was just one of those days. And I know,
- 38:25I know you guys have experienced them. They're not unique to me. They're
- 38:29not unique to any one person. Everyone has them every so often. It's
- 38:32like it doesn't matter you know good karma, bad karma, living somewhere magical
- 38:38or living somewhere you know you know bad, You're going to be susceptible to
- 38:44the occasional bad days. So my bad day the other day wasn't even just
- 38:47my bad day, was also my wife's and our two bad days combine.
- 38:52So my day started with, Okay, I wanted to go to the gym,
- 38:57So I go to the gym. But the gym I went to because
- 39:00I was trying to do a logistical games where I could map out my day
- 39:04strategically, right, So I go to a different location of my gym,
- 39:07which is Acrosstown. So I go to this gym I don't normally go to,
- 39:13but it's the same same company, right, And that's when I realize
- 39:16I don't have access to this gym, so I can't get a hold of
- 39:22the owners to get me access to the gym. So then I need to
- 39:24Acrosstown to the other chart or something like that you can't get into or they
- 39:30do it through an app on your phone so you can unlock and lock the
- 39:32doors because they're not always there because they have a couple of different locations,
- 39:38so they can't always be there to monitor the gym, and I guess they
- 39:44figured they'd rather go this route as opposed to hiring and paying somebody just to
- 39:47kind of babysit the gym, which I get. If you can do it
- 39:50through technology and save the money, then by god, go for it.
- 39:52So it's actually literally available to you twenty four hours, not just kind of
- 39:57a phrase they use exactly. Okay, cool, that's nice. So unfortunately
- 40:04I didn't have access to that gem on my phone and they have to kind
- 40:06of run it through their I had to get approval for it, so I
- 40:08didn't have time to wait for that, so I had to drive across town
- 40:12go to the other gyms. I go to the other gym. Then Tara
- 40:15was done with work a little bit sooner than I expected, so I had
- 40:17to leave the gym early drive back across town to meet her for breakfast,
- 40:21which is which is fine. That's a good thing, right. Well,
- 40:23the bad thing is though, when she's trying to park, she ends up
- 40:27being the victim of some a hoole's road rage because he wanted a parking spot
- 40:30that he thought he deserved and she didn't. So she got to experience that,
- 40:37which is always great for anybody, but especially when all she's trying to
- 40:42do is park in a parking spot. And she hadn't even completely passed the
- 40:46parking spot. She had basically just gotten even with it when someone started to
- 40:51back up, So she did what you would normally do. You throw up
- 40:53reverse and you back up a whole foot. You let that person out,
- 40:57You take the spot right. Well, the guy behind her didn't think she
- 41:00should have that spot, so he laid on his horn, was dog cussing
- 41:04her everything else. She gets the spot, but of course he's mad,
- 41:08so as she gets out of the car, he rolls his window down.
- 41:10He's yelling all sorts of just terrible things at her. Now, when I
- 41:15show up to the place for breakfast, he's sitting outside and sees us,
- 41:20and then all of a sudden, you know, he buries his face into
- 41:22his phone. He doesn't have as much to say now that she's not alone.
- 41:24Okay, so quick question, how you had a chance to work out
- 41:27at this point a little bit? Yeah? Okay, so you had some
- 41:30pump on, you had some swoll right, So you were walking up like
- 41:34kind of like flexing a little extra jacked. Yeah, I wasn't flexing,
- 41:38And honestly, I didn't really know what had happened yet because she was in
- 41:42the in the process of still telling me what happened. When I saw this
- 41:45guy looking at us, and I was wondering, why is this guy looking
- 41:46at us? You were walking around like you do normally after going to the
- 41:50gym, where you're just kind of like, you know, you look like
- 41:52you know, Batista, and you got like a neck vein popping out.
- 41:55Yeah? Is that it? Is? That what it was? You know
- 42:00what? Sure, that's exactly how I look. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 42:02you look off from the guardians. Yeah, exactly, had your shirt
- 42:06off, busting them nipples out, and it's the island or Oklahoma or whatever,
- 42:12and you got to show off. Yeah yeah, I got that.
- 42:15I got that good punk to city pump. So yeah, no he he.
- 42:19All of a sudden got real quiet when it came, you know,
- 42:22time to you know, to see the terrible woman who took his parking spot.
- 42:28So then later and then so you go back to work again later then
- 42:30later in the day. All we really wanted to do was just get dinner,
- 42:32right and we we're gonna go out to dinner. We're gonna get something
- 42:36out. So we go to a place near the house, and as soon
- 42:38as we get there, they are out of food. We don't mean out
- 42:44of food, they were they closed the kitchen either. I think I think
- 42:46they had so many tickets backed up they were they thought they were going to
- 42:50run out of food or it was going to take them over an hour to
- 42:52make all the food that was already in order or in q. So they
- 42:57basically just closed the kitchen. Even though it's one of those places it's open.
- 43:00You can see the kitchen and they're still cooking, but they tell you
- 43:02kitchen's clothes. Well, but it's they're still cooking. I can I can
- 43:07see the grill. It's on, like there's meat on it. Like,
- 43:09well, yeah, but not for you, not anymore. Fine, So
- 43:15we hop in the car. You've already, can't, sir, you any
- 43:19more meat, there's no protein here for you. Also put on a shirt,
- 43:24so so that's like okay, fine, then we'll go to a different
- 43:27place. We'll grab dinner in a different place. So we go to grab
- 43:30dinner at a different place, and luckily their kitchen was still open. However,
- 43:35however, it took an hour for them to make the food. Now
- 43:37ask me what the food was. What was the food? A salad?
- 43:44What kind of salad? Because they can get kind of involved. Just a
- 43:46grilled chicken caesar. It took them an hour to to to to rastle up
- 43:52a grilled chicken caesar salad. Now is the island a lot busier right now?
- 44:00Is it? You know, out of school? People out of school,
- 44:02like tourism time or no weird night. I think it was just like
- 44:08I said, I think it was just an off day. It was an
- 44:12off day from beginning to end, driving across the island three or four times,
- 44:15having to go to two different places to get food, which took two
- 44:20and a half hours just to get a salad. They're just some days that
- 44:24don't go well. And you know, Terry gets yelled at because she parked
- 44:28in a parking spot that some ahole thought was his, and it was just
- 44:30it was just one of those crab days. But I the only reason I
- 44:34mentioned it to you earlier is because coming in here with you guys makes me
- 44:37feel better. And I just wanted to say thank you, well you're welcome.
- 44:45Yeah, yeah, thank you Trey. Yeah, yeah. See.
- 44:47Then there's there's see I see, I told you. I told it to
- 44:50you, Trey. And then there's Alfie with the snide under his breath.
- 44:53How do you want me to react? It was it was your delivery.
- 44:57It's not what we said, it's how you said it. Well, I
- 45:00mean there there is a little bit of Pavlovian conditioning here that you know when
- 45:05the host says something complimentary that everyone just kind of, you know, tries
- 45:09to shield themselves and duck, yeah, you know something terrible's coming. Listen,
- 45:16here's your right here. I got you guys, ipatch and you look
- 45:19over your head for the envil. It's it's rare that cold hearted Dan O'Malley
- 45:24shares a tender moment. I'm just saying, so I don't know what to
- 45:28expect. Well, in that case, I'm going to continue going against that
- 45:31grain because there's something else I wanted to share with you guys, because I
- 45:36got a little bit of enjoyment out of it, and in case you were
- 45:37not having the best of days, I felt like this might uh you know,
- 45:42get a get a chuckle out of you. ALPHI there's some audio I
- 45:45sent you if you would play that here in just a second. Let me
- 45:47tell you the backstory here. Okay, all right, you ready, okay,
- 45:53um. This happened in a town called Hastings, Pennsylvania, which is
- 45:59about ninety miles east of Pittsburgh. The owner of an apartment complex had hired
- 46:05an exterminator to come in and spray pesticide, you know in the units,
- 46:08you know, for bugs and such. Problem is, one of the tenants
- 46:12found a spider a few days later, and that tenant decided, well,
- 46:15I don't though if they were really sprayed, So he went and checked his
- 46:19security camera footage, and upon checking the security camera footage, he discovered that
- 46:27the exterminator sprayed more than pesticide in his apartment. He actually saw him king
- 46:34in several different spots around the living room, on their rug, their couch,
- 46:39a side table, also on their daughter's toy box. The guy's name
- 46:45is Roger Young. He's actually the owner of his own pest control company,
- 46:50Young's Pest Control. And he just flat out admitted it. He's like,
- 46:53yeah, I did it. And police asked him why. He just said
- 46:55he was having a bad day and was sick of people, which I think
- 46:59we all can a fight with no. Um, No, I cannot identify
- 47:02with this, Dan, I've never had a bad day and been sick of
- 47:06people to where I'm like, you know, I got to pee everywhere in
- 47:07someone's house. Well, not to that day. I'm just saying that we
- 47:10all can identify with having a bad day and being sick of people. I'm
- 47:14not saying we identify with whipping it out and piston on everything they own.
- 47:16I have had a bad day, I've been sick of people. I've never
- 47:21thought, you know what, I need to just pee just everywhere, just
- 47:24libraries, courthouses, churches. Oh no, yeah, I never never has
- 47:30that crossed my mind. Never. You never pulled an AZZI never pulled an
- 47:35azzie. Huh. Nope, that's good that you don't, because that's bad.
- 47:39Um. There is a little more to this story though, um So.
- 47:46The local news of course, got wind of it, and they decided
- 47:49to talk to the tenant who had the security footage about the exterminator peeing everywhere
- 47:54in his apartment a cat who was sitting at the corner while he was urine
- 48:00eating, and we're pretty sure that it splashed onto the cat. The maintaining
- 48:05it upsets me is that he yearn eated on my daughter's toys. It's just
- 48:09it's a little girl, you know that. That's that. That's ft up.
- 48:14That's beyond ft up. Dude. Have you ever been so mad that
- 48:19you peed on somebody's cat? That's I got. I got no way to
- 48:25relate to this. I got nothing for this. It's just no I know
- 48:30that. That's what I mean. That's always sound like the relatability begins and
- 48:34ends with having a bad day and wanting to do something about it because it
- 48:38and it ends when you start you start peeing on things in people's apartments.
- 48:43You go when you have you have a drink. If you you've been having
- 48:46a bad day, if you don't want to drink, go you know,
- 48:49exercise, go work out, go to like an axe throwing thingy or something.
- 48:53Don't go. I was having a bad day, so I just started
- 48:57to piss everywhere in your house. Now that that's a psycho, man,
- 49:00That is an absolute psycho and golden shower. Barbie was asking for it.
- 49:07Thank you for bringing that up. Trade. Let's go back to the beginning
- 49:09of the audio, where the tenant once again has to share with us everywhere,
- 49:15specifically that the exterminator TT. The cat was sitting at the corner while
- 49:20he was urinating, and we're pretty sure that it splashed onto the cat in
- 49:24maintaining. It upsets me is that he urinated on my daughter's toys. It's
- 49:30just it's a little girl, you know, and she played with it in
- 49:35his pee for two days. That's what I don't find funny about this period.
- 49:39No part of it do I find funny. It's jacked up. It's
- 49:43psycho this man. However, however, the laws are structured to where he's
- 49:47going to get charged with X y Z. They need to bump that up
- 49:52to like two levels up. If it's a misdemeanor, you know, b
- 49:55make it a felony one, because that's beyond jacked up. There is facing
- 50:01go ahead. He's facing charges for criminal mischief and distortally conduct. The tenants
- 50:06say replacing the rug, couch and other belonging belongings cost them over four thousand
- 50:12dollars. No word on how much Golden Shower Barbie set them back, though.
- 50:15See that's I don't mean to kill any bit, but I just don't
- 50:21find it funny. It's it's psycho man. It's absolutely like psycho to go
- 50:27in and think I'm gonna pee on this cat, I'm gonna pee on this
- 50:29kid's toys. That is jacked up. And I cannot process the type of
- 50:35person how their brain works, you know what I mean? I just can't.
- 50:40Well, maybe you've never really had a really bad day in customer service?
- 50:45Is that why you pete in the laundry hamper? Dan? Is that
- 50:46why why when when you and Tera were living in that apartment, you decided,
- 50:52you know what, he's been having a real bad dad's ters a blouse
- 50:59and and my workout short something, just go ahead and just ruin our stuff.
- 51:04Is that how it worked? Dan? It was the dirty clothes hamper.
- 51:07It's not like she was still wearing the things. So it's okay for
- 51:09you for you to, you know, just kind of just let it rip
- 51:14into your own dirty clothes hamper because you were having a bad day. Were
- 51:15you having a bad day then, Dan, I don't remember if it was
- 51:19a bad day or not. Tell me this. On this bad day that
- 51:22you had where you couldn't get into the gym and Tara got into a sin
- 51:28i ahole like yelled at her road rage dat her, And you go to
- 51:31one restaurant and they don't serve you, and you go to another restaurant and
- 51:35they serve you, but it's an hour and all that you was asking for
- 51:37was a couple of leaves of spinach and a little bit of chicken on that
- 51:40bad day, Dan, tell me where did you pee? I don't want
- 51:45to tell you. Yeah, okay, look kind of mind sharing something funnel
