- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. My name
- 0:08Speaker 1: is Beaumont Jones.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Thanks for listening.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Grab you get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:14Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:16Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Believe you are a hater.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It is Thursday with Dominique Foxworth. What's going on, brother?
- 0:25Speaker 3: Man. We got football. Life gets a lot easier for us.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It does. But I feel like you ain't been on
- 0:31Speaker 1: it like two months that I'm thinking about this.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I miss it. I'm back. You got on the
- 0:36Speaker 3: Honolulu Blue. Everything's right in the world. That's right, baby.
- 0:39Speaker 2: That's right.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I bought all this Honolulu Blue I be forgetting to wear.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Not this year, dog. Not this year. We gonna talk
- 0:45Speaker 1: a little bit more about America's team. But I ain't
- 0:47Speaker 1: gonna lie to you. I don't know if anybody else
- 0:49Speaker 1: feels this way, but I didn't know it was a
- 0:52Speaker 1: Wednesday game until Wednesday.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I thought.
- 0:56Speaker 1: That they were going to run one of these silly
- 0:58Speaker 1: doubleheaders on us because they got the game on Thursday
- 1:01Speaker 1: over there in Australia. And I thought that that game
- 1:03Speaker 1: was going to come on after the first game on
- 1:05Speaker 1: Thursday because the first game is always on Thursday. But
- 1:07Speaker 1: the NFL, just letting you know, they're coming for the
- 1:10Speaker 1: whole goddamn week. They put them a game on Wednesday.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure that I don't have to tell
- 1:17Speaker 3: you and most people who listen to the show know
- 1:19Speaker 3: that it's most likely about money. They got to sell
- 1:22Speaker 3: a new package. So you know what? Amazon, you want
- 1:24Speaker 3: a game? You want a standalone game? Start the season?
- 1:27Speaker 3: All right, we're going to do this kickoff thing on Wednesday.
- 1:29Speaker 3: You can just stand alone on Thursday.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And I will say this about the Thursday game. I
- 1:34Speaker 1: had to look it up, and I'm going to do
- 1:36Speaker 1: it again. Let me put into the search time in Melbourne. Okay,
- 1:41Speaker 1: so Melbourne is 14 hours ahead, which is to say
- 1:43Speaker 1: they'll be playing that game at 1030 in the morning
- 1:47Speaker 1: in Australia on a Friday. And look, maybe that's one
- 1:50Speaker 1: of them countries where people don't go to work, right?
- 1:52Speaker 1: I just got through going to three different European countries
- 1:55Speaker 1: that appear to be very work-optional. Maybe that's the way
- 1:58Speaker 1: that they treat things in Australia.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I mean, I think the goal of this is world domination.
- 2:03Speaker 3: You would think that they would put it at a
- 2:05Speaker 3: time that's convenient for the other parts of the world.
- 2:07Speaker 3: They got to balance the pay. I mean, I guess
- 2:10Speaker 3: I'm surprised because it doesn't seem like it's any bigger event,
- 2:13Speaker 3: I would guess, for them over there that it's like
- 2:17Speaker 3: this standalone thing than if it was just a game there.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I think I should probably be quiet. They probably know
- 2:21Speaker 3: how to make money.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, but look, we ain't got no reason to think
- 2:24Speaker 1: they smart. Let's just throw that out there. But first,
- 2:28Speaker 1: in that Wednesday night game, two things happened. Sam Darnold
- 2:33Speaker 1: got hurt and Drake May stunk again.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Which one do you want to get to first?
- 2:39Speaker 3: I mean, I think that Drake May stunk again is
- 2:42Speaker 3: a little bit more interesting to me right now because
- 2:44Speaker 3: we don't have all the information on the Sam Darnold stuff.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I'm sure that'll matter, but he is less integral to
- 2:50Speaker 3: the success of that team than most Superbowl champion quarterbacks.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I would say. Yes. Drake may stuff is interesting. Okay.
- 2:56Speaker 2: We will go to the Drake may stuff.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And then I think I will make the Sam Darnold
- 3:00Speaker 1: more interesting than many people may have expected.
- 3:02Speaker 3: All right. Well, the Drake start with Drake may it's
- 3:04Speaker 3: even more interesting to me because it comes on the
- 3:07Speaker 3: heels of three really bad games in a row. And
- 3:11Speaker 3: so like, I know he was running up for the
- 3:13Speaker 3: MVP and many people voted for him and think that
- 3:16Speaker 3: he should be the MVP, but, uh, It hasn't been
- 3:21Speaker 3: MVP-like since he entered the playoffs and at the beginning
- 3:24Speaker 3: of this. And you know how it is. These standalone games,
- 3:27Speaker 3: I think you're one of the first people a decade
- 3:29Speaker 3: ago was talking about how them standalone games really have
- 3:32Speaker 3: an impact on the way we talk and think about you. So,
- 3:35Speaker 3: Drake May, you're going to have to sit on them
- 3:36Speaker 3: three interceptions until I don't know when the next time
- 3:38Speaker 3: y'all got a Monday or a Thursday night.
- 3:41Speaker 1: He's had four straight standalone bad games.
- 3:46Speaker 3: And one... All but the last two. I guess it's
- 3:49Speaker 3: not all. He won. He lost the last two. It
- 3:52Speaker 3: just felt like such a run in the playoffs, man.
- 3:55Speaker 3: It just felt like he was ripping through the playoffs
- 3:57Speaker 3: even though he wasn't doing nothing. Well, he and C.J.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Stroud, who I imagine we'll talk about a little later
- 4:01Speaker 1: in this, right? C.J. Stroud is going into year four.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But the bottom line is, what you are in year
- 4:10Speaker 1: three as an NFL quarterback, nothing that happened in years
- 4:14Speaker 1: one and two matters.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It is strictly like this is when the decisions are
- 4:18Speaker 1: being made about whether you get an extension. This is
- 4:21Speaker 1: where people really start locking in and feeling like they
- 4:24Speaker 1: have some idea of what you are. Jayden Daniels had
- 4:26Speaker 1: one of the great rookie seasons that we have ever seen.
- 4:30Speaker 1: All he did last year was be injured. And now
- 4:33Speaker 1: he's on the goddamn clock. We haven't actually seen him
- 4:37Speaker 1: be bad. He is now on the clock. Drake May
- 4:41Speaker 1: was just the MVP runner-up for the whole league, and
- 4:46Speaker 1: his team made it to the Super Bowl, and he
- 4:50Speaker 1: is on the clock. And by the way, I don't
- 4:52Speaker 1: think that is a ridiculous proposition to have. I think
- 4:55Speaker 1: it's ridiculous in the sense that he should be their
- 4:57Speaker 1: quarterback next year, too.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Like, you're here now. You might as well go with it.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Shit.
- 5:02Speaker 2: It's year three, and J.J.
- 5:04Speaker 3: McCarthy is third on the depth chart.
- 5:07Speaker 2: His career is basically over.
- 5:10Speaker 3: He's going to get another chance somewhere eventually. Well, maybe
- 5:13Speaker 3: he won't, actually. I mean, normally a high draft pick
- 5:16Speaker 3: will get another chance. He'll get on another roster, but
- 5:19Speaker 3: no one's going to bring him in with expectations of
- 5:21Speaker 3: being a starter.
- 5:22Speaker 2: That's J.J.
- 5:23Speaker 3: McCarthy.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I feel like if there was another chance for him,
- 5:25Speaker 1: he would be on that team right now.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 2: They starting Carson Wentz over him.
- 5:32Speaker 3: And I think you can go back. Part of it is, like,
- 5:35Speaker 3: the confirming.
- 5:37Speaker 2: We're not starting, by the way, because he's number two.
- 5:40Speaker 3: He's behind Carson Wentz. But I think part of it is, like,
- 5:42Speaker 3: the priors have something to do with it, too. Like,
- 5:45Speaker 3: he was kind of a projection based on his college experience.
- 5:49Speaker 3: It's like, he's going to be something. Then he got there,
- 5:52Speaker 3: and they was like, you're not good, and we don't
- 5:54Speaker 3: really like you.
- 5:56Speaker 1: That's look they went and got the we don't like
- 5:59Speaker 1: you that much all-star to start over him they got
- 6:03Speaker 1: a short black dude that people don't like.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Who got through his year three but we have just.
- 6:09Speaker 1: People have decided stinks i disagree entirely but the decision
- 6:14Speaker 1: had been made and they looked at him and were
- 6:16Speaker 1: like yeah this first round pick get him out of
- 6:19Speaker 1: here man you know why because he's bad for vibes.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I actually don't think that drake may is on the
- 6:24Speaker 3: clock I think this year would have to be really,
- 6:27Speaker 3: really bad for Drake May to not, for it to
- 6:31Speaker 3: be a smart decision for them to mess around with
- 6:34Speaker 3: his money. Like, I mean, he's shown enough for you
- 6:39Speaker 3: to be like, it's worth locking him up on a
- 6:42Speaker 3: long-term deal to get whatever cost savings we could get, right?
- 6:48Speaker 2: I mean.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Well, hold on.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And I ask you that.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I am inclined to agree with you.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Because I think we know it's just that hard to
- 6:55Speaker 1: go find a quarterback.
- 6:58Speaker 3: But C.J.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Stroud. I would have made the same exact or one
- 7:02Speaker 1: could make the same exact argument or could have made
- 7:05Speaker 1: after year three that you're probably not going to get
- 7:07Speaker 1: better than him. Now, granted, part of why C.J. Stroud
- 7:10Speaker 1: may not have got locked in is we'll get it.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And I'm here taking nobody's discount.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:14Speaker 2: So maybe maybe that's the part of it.
- 7:17Speaker 3: But.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Drake may could be in that situation.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I don't know. I'm with you.
- 7:21Speaker 1: It's this run of them in a row that is really,
- 7:24Speaker 1: really worrisome. And in the ways, in the ways that
- 7:30Speaker 1: make you wonder if something has gotten tripped off in
- 7:32Speaker 1: the bad way.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Cause it was, it's, it's seen very bad decisions that
- 7:38Speaker 1: come from being very unsure.
- 7:41Speaker 3: And that's so like, this is where you can get
- 7:43Speaker 3: into trouble with your decision-making or maybe it'll help you
- 7:46Speaker 3: with the decision-making with quarterbacks is, It's never just, can't
- 7:50Speaker 3: say never. If the quarterback's good and he's playing poorly,
- 7:54Speaker 3: it's not just him, right? Like there's so many other complications.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Mike McDaniel is, or Mike McDonald, he busting their ass
- 8:02Speaker 3: back to back, coaching their ass in a circle. It's outrageous.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Like from the protections, eating their protections alive, getting a
- 8:09Speaker 3: ton of pressure. And I mean, that doesn't speak for
- 8:11Speaker 3: what's happening in the previous games also, but in those
- 8:13Speaker 3: other games too, those defense were getting after him and
- 8:16Speaker 3: to the point, That's the thing that kills a quarterback.
- 8:18Speaker 3: And to your point, that could get into a quarterback's
- 8:21Speaker 3: mind is when you are under siege and you can't
- 8:25Speaker 3: trust your protection, you're going to get a little antsy. And, like,
- 8:28Speaker 3: I think he pointed to it last night is that
- 8:30Speaker 3: he was getting impatient because the receivers weren't open. The
- 8:34Speaker 3: big plays that he made a living off of last year, like,
- 8:37Speaker 3: that's what he was awesome at was deep ball connections
- 8:40Speaker 3: to Keyshawn Booty. They said, we're going to upgrade from
- 8:43Speaker 3: Keyshawn Booty, get him out of here. You're going to
- 8:45Speaker 3: hit these deep balls to someone else. And he was
- 8:47Speaker 3: doing fine, dumping it, dumping it, dumping it. Then he
- 8:50Speaker 3: tried to get aggressive, and that pressure started getting there,
- 8:52Speaker 3: and then he just kind of unwrapped.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and that last interception where it was quick game,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and after the quick game went away, instead of quickly
- 8:59Speaker 1: throwing it away, he was like, watch.
- 9:01Speaker 3: This, though.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Except I don't think he was like, watch this, though.
- 9:04Speaker 3: He was like, what do I do?
- 9:06Speaker 2: What do I do?
- 9:07Speaker 3: It was so many times in that game when that happened.
- 9:09Speaker 3: The other time that jumps out in my mind was,
- 9:12Speaker 3: the screen pass to the tight end that he decided
- 9:14Speaker 3: not to throw. It's like quarterback 101. You have to
- 9:18Speaker 3: either throw the screen or run the ball. So, like,
- 9:21Speaker 3: if the screen is covered, throw it at his feet.
- 9:23Speaker 3: You get a legal man downfield because you just kind
- 9:26Speaker 3: of panic because it wasn't there. It's just that sort
- 9:28Speaker 3: of stuff that you thought Drake May was passed. And
- 9:31Speaker 3: I know he's only in his third year, but last
- 9:34Speaker 3: year he was balling. I thought he was passing. And, like,
- 9:36Speaker 3: through the course of the whole game, there's just a
- 9:37Speaker 3: number of plays where it's like, to your point, It's
- 9:40Speaker 3: something going on. He just seems so uncomfortable, which he
- 9:43Speaker 3: hasn't seen comfortable in a long time. And that's the
- 9:46Speaker 3: bad part. The stretch. You got to get some bums
- 9:47Speaker 3: on this schedule again, like last year, baby.
- 9:50Speaker 1: That is why every time somebody gets on a college team.
- 9:53Speaker 2: For scheduling bums to start the year.
- 9:55Speaker 1: No, baby, we got to get this thing up to speed.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Can you imagine what an NFL? schedule would look like
- 10:01Speaker 1: if teams got to pick their own opponents?
- 10:03Speaker 3: Well, it'd be a fight over a couple of people
- 10:05Speaker 3: at the bottom.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Well, no, it wouldn't be a fight. It'd go the
- 10:08Speaker 1: same way that it'd go in college. You just throw
- 10:10Speaker 1: a little bread. What they would need is a relegation
- 10:12Speaker 1: situation so you can get you an NFL 1AA.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying?
- 10:17Speaker 3: I always thought that was crazy in college. Only for football.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Because it's like actually violent. Like it's actually dangerous for
- 10:26Speaker 3: some of these boys. Like seriously. And y'all like essentially
- 10:30Speaker 3: knowing that you're going to get your ass beat. Like look, you,
- 10:34Speaker 3: your future, insurance salesman. His future, NFL All-Pro. Go out
- 10:40Speaker 3: there for three hours and let him bust you in
- 10:44Speaker 3: your shit. so we can get paid.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Just because we need, y'all are extras, right? That's basically
- 10:53Speaker 1: what it is. We pay you because we're going to
- 10:55Speaker 1: sell these tickets and we need somebody else to come
- 10:57Speaker 1: play this home game. Y'all are cast members. You are
- 11:01Speaker 1: background dancers.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Exactly, but I'm talking about for the institutions that sign
- 11:06Speaker 3: them up.
- 11:07Speaker 1: They're background dancers that get hit in the mouth. That
- 11:10Speaker 1: was one thing I love when D.I. was at Jackson State.
- 11:13Speaker 1: He's like, we ain't going to go play them games.
- 11:14Speaker 1: What are you talking about? And they like, we got
- 11:17Speaker 1: to fund volleyball. Where are we going to get this
- 11:18Speaker 1: volleyball money from?
- 11:20Speaker 3: How are we going to fund this basketball team and
- 11:24Speaker 3: our soccer team? By putting your ass out there across
- 11:28Speaker 3: from Tristan Wirfs and watch that man jump out a
- 11:32Speaker 3: pool at 350 and run through your face.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Hey, the one time it did lead to something cool
- 11:37Speaker 1: in college, though, was that time that Ohio State scheduled
- 11:41Speaker 1: their first game against Buffalo, and Khalil Mack was out
- 11:45Speaker 1: there destroying them.
- 11:47Speaker 2: It's like, yo, who the fuck is he?
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yeah, there might be one player on some of these
- 11:52Speaker 3: teams that's like, this is the only time that people
- 11:55Speaker 3: are going to look at you and respect your competition,
- 11:58Speaker 3: so maybe they are getting an opportunity, but most of
- 12:00Speaker 3: those teams don't got those guys, and we almost got
- 12:02Speaker 3: the Western Michigan upset, but.
- 12:04Speaker 1: But I always imagine them Ohio State boys probably wasn't
- 12:07Speaker 1: even watching the tape.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Right?
- 12:09Speaker 1: And the coach was like, I'm telling you, that number
- 12:12Speaker 1: 51 or whatever his number was there, y'all need to
- 12:14Speaker 1: watch out for him.
- 12:15Speaker 2: They're like, yeah, I bet, coach.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I bet.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Next thing they know, that motherfucker got you up against
- 12:19Speaker 1: the wall. He's shaking the change out of your pockets.
- 12:23Speaker 3: It just hit me that it's so much worse now
- 12:26Speaker 3: because Khalil Mack wouldn't still be there. No. No. Like,
- 12:30Speaker 3: it's so much worse now. Like, those guys aren't even
- 12:32Speaker 3: there anymore. Like, the one, two guys that you might have,
- 12:36Speaker 3: Ohio State already bought their ass. It ain't nothing but
- 12:39Speaker 3: insurance salesmen left.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Yes, in fact, they got to just stop. Like, this
- 12:43Speaker 1: is the best argument for allowing the power schools to
- 12:47Speaker 1: break off into their own thing. Because now it actually
- 12:50Speaker 1: is unfair. Like, not unfair simply in the sense that
- 12:53Speaker 1: they'll probably win. It's inhumane at this point.
- 12:56Speaker 3: It's safety. Yeah, like there at least was one or
- 12:59Speaker 3: two guys out there that could play on the next level.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Now you show a little glimpse, we got some money
- 13:04Speaker 3: for you. We're going to take him too. It's the
- 13:10Speaker 3: only sport like that. Like we see in football, the
- 13:12Speaker 3: big story coming out of the first game is like
- 13:15Speaker 3: major injuries. I was thinking about, I think I text
- 13:18Speaker 3: our group chat this. It's just, I know that it's normal.
- 13:21Speaker 3: We become accustomed to it, but there is no other
- 13:23Speaker 3: sport where like one of the core injuries determining factors
- 13:28Speaker 3: is who going to be left standing. Yes.
- 13:32Speaker 1: There, there is no other sport where everyone acknowledges that
- 13:37Speaker 1: you can't just go play for fun.
- 13:40Speaker 2: You can't even go play for practice.
- 13:43Speaker 1: If the stakes are such that you could only play
- 13:46Speaker 1: this game, if everything is on the line, because otherwise.
- 13:50Speaker 3: It would be stupid. I mean, I know the war
- 13:53Speaker 3: parallels are a little too much, but I don't know
- 13:56Speaker 3: any other line of work or endeavor where everybody goes
- 14:00Speaker 3: in saying, you know what? We all ain't going to
- 14:03Speaker 3: make it out. Guaranteed. Guaranteed. Some of us ain't going
- 14:08Speaker 3: to finish this. Right?
- 14:12Speaker 1: There's no chance that we can get through three hours
- 14:15Speaker 1: with all 53 of you.
- 14:17Speaker 3: We say the Lord's Prayer together. Before we start the game,
- 14:22Speaker 3: every single game, knowing that the post game, our father
- 14:27Speaker 3: will have fewer guys in it because some of them
- 14:30Speaker 3: are going to be getting MR damn eyes. Every time.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Some of them have already left.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not here. They're at the hospital. They sleep.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Some of them is knocked out cold and they don't
- 14:45Speaker 3: know why we're here, what we're doing. So we know that.
- 14:49Speaker 3: The prayer is serious. This is not just a throwaway prayer.
- 14:52Speaker 3: We're really praying. We need some protection.
- 14:54Speaker 1: There was a night one time where me and you
- 14:57Speaker 1: were on the phone because the ambulance came to the
- 14:59Speaker 1: football game and it left and the lights went on.
- 15:03Speaker 1: They were stopping at red lights.
- 15:06Speaker 2: We were like, hey.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Did we just, did we just, did that just happen?
- 15:12Speaker 3: We had to call each other because we were shook.
- 15:14Speaker 3: We were shaken up. We needed to lean on one
- 15:16Speaker 3: another for support. Brother, did you just see what I
- 15:19Speaker 3: just saw?
- 15:20Speaker 1: To this day, I still can't believe he wasn't dead.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Because everything they were doing said dead.
- 15:29Speaker 3: And it was plausible.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And by the way, he didn't even die in some
- 15:32Speaker 1: football shit. But it was still plausible somebody could die
- 15:36Speaker 1: out here. And they was about to go play again.
- 15:40Speaker 2: It was out there warming up.
- 15:43Speaker 3: It's the only sport like that in like the combat
- 15:45Speaker 3: sports where we've like, you got a plan for something
- 15:48Speaker 3: like that happens because there's a chance that it happened.
- 15:51Speaker 3: If it happens in any other sport, we've like fluke accident.
- 15:54Speaker 3: We blame them. What was you doing? Were you drinking
- 15:56Speaker 3: or smoking? Something happened to you. What were you doing?
- 16:01Speaker 2: You need to get off them drugs.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Exactly. If somebody passed out, that's what we would think.
- 16:05Speaker 3: But at football games, we like, damn. It's football, man.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I do want to say this about the Patriots before
- 16:11Speaker 1: we go. There's only one person for whom a focus
- 16:19Speaker 1: on Drake May is a good thing. And it's somewhat counterintuitive, right?
- 16:22Speaker 1: Because you have your young quarterback, right? He came out
- 16:25Speaker 1: after three years in school. You don't want all the
- 16:27Speaker 1: attention on him and the idea that what happens to
- 16:30Speaker 1: the team is a direct result of his play.
- 16:33Speaker 2: No, you want to feel like you can spread wealth.
- 16:35Speaker 1: But if they losing, there's one person that's served by
- 16:38Speaker 1: the losing being a result of bad quarterback play, and
- 16:41Speaker 1: it's the biggest distraction of the NFL offseason, Pippen Mike Vrabel.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, ain't nobody talking about it now. No, but we will, brother.
- 16:52Speaker 2: We will.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah, to your point, though, if he wins, it becomes
- 16:58Speaker 3: a funny thing that people point to. If he loses,
- 17:01Speaker 3: it becomes like, part of the story that we say,
- 17:04Speaker 3: this is why it happened. And also, you know, I
- 17:06Speaker 3: was thinking this as you were saying, I knew you
- 17:08Speaker 3: were going to Mike Vrabel, but also Will Campbell.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I forgot about him.
- 17:13Speaker 3: It wasn't much better, big dog.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Well, didn't they say he was hurt last year?
- 17:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I know they said it, but yeah, I did not
- 17:21Speaker 1: pay close enough attention to know if things are back
- 17:24Speaker 1: to the way they were, but, but short arms was still.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Well, I mean, To your point, I assume that you
- 17:30Speaker 3: normally don't pay that close attention to the tackles. You
- 17:33Speaker 3: couldn't avoid them in the Super Bowl. You could watch
- 17:35Speaker 3: this game and not see it. I've been re-watching it
- 17:38Speaker 3: this morning, and it wasn't as much that he was terrible.
- 17:43Speaker 3: He struggled a couple times, which is fine, but it
- 17:45Speaker 3: was also that they were doing unorthodox things. They had
- 17:49Speaker 3: him cutting on plays that weren't screens or quick game.
- 17:53Speaker 3: It just felt like they were trying to protect him
- 17:55Speaker 3: in a way that was like, oh.
- 17:57Speaker 2: That's not a good sign.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Right? Yeah, it's like.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Let me tell you a position that should not require gimmicks.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Left tackle.
- 18:07Speaker 1: That's like the security guard at your club. I don't
- 18:10Speaker 1: care how good he is at Kung Fu. He ain't
- 18:12Speaker 1: supposed to be 5'7. You understand what I'm saying? We
- 18:15Speaker 1: don't need no gimmicks out here. Just need a big
- 18:17Speaker 1: old dude that look like a wall.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Right?
- 18:20Speaker 1: Like you try to hit this shit off before it
- 18:22Speaker 1: even gets to anything. You don't even want to find
- 18:24Speaker 1: out if he can fight. Right?
- 18:25Speaker 2: Just give people something to think about.
- 18:27Speaker 1: If this dude, but you come out there and the
- 18:29Speaker 1: security guard all of a sudden starts like, is that big?
- 18:32Speaker 2: But he starts doing all kind of wooka wooka and
- 18:34Speaker 2: everything else.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Hey, man.
- 18:36Speaker 2: This might not be, this might not be it.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Like I, it wasn't like a big problem in
- 18:41Speaker 3: the way that it was in the Superbowl, but I
- 18:44Speaker 3: just was, I've been watching it this morning and that's
- 18:46Speaker 3: why I like, I saw the way that McDonald was
- 18:49Speaker 3: tearing up their protections and they were checking based on
- 18:51Speaker 3: their formation because they knew their protections. And I saw
- 18:55Speaker 3: the way that they were making sure he had help
- 18:57Speaker 3: and not leaving him alone and doing special type of
- 19:00Speaker 3: tactics to make sure that he could go. And like,
- 19:03Speaker 3: The Seahawks' edges are pretty good, but we're not dealing
- 19:06Speaker 3: with Miles Garrett.
- 19:08Speaker 1: And keep in mind, again, the Patriots are one of
- 19:10Speaker 1: those teams that were not as good as their record,
- 19:13Speaker 1: and it was a very interesting.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Postseason that worked out.
- 19:17Speaker 1: They played against C.J. Stroud playing dreadfully, right? The terrible
- 19:23Speaker 1: weather game in Denver that somebody had to win because
- 19:25Speaker 1: everybody was losing. They were set for a measure of
- 19:29Speaker 1: regression already. I think one would argue. They went with
- 19:33Speaker 1: 13-4 last year.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Like, come on. That wasn't going to happen again.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Jarrett Stidham was the quarterback. Oh, that's right. That's what
- 19:40Speaker 3: happened in that game.
- 19:41Speaker 2: That's right.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I said you're not going up against Myles Garrett, which
- 19:44Speaker 3: I had forgotten that they did go up against Miles
- 19:46Speaker 3: Garrett last year. And I believe, correct me if I'm wrong,
- 19:51Speaker 3: that motherfucker had five sacks. I think he had five sacks.
- 19:58Speaker 3: And I remember he had like three pressures that should
- 20:01Speaker 3: have been sacks that were more beautiful than the sacks
- 20:04Speaker 3: that he got.
- 20:05Speaker 2: You are correct.
- 20:06Speaker 1: There were five sacks, including what is termed here, quote,
- 20:10Speaker 1: a dominant first half strip sack, unquote.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so, I mean, I'm sure he was injured, but.
- 20:18Speaker 2: And by the way, the Browns still lost 32-13.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Of course they did.
- 20:24Speaker 3: How do you get five sacks and you lose by 20?
- 20:28Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Five sacks by one guy, not even a whole team.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Five sacks....
- 20:35Speaker 1: I want to throw something here about the Seahawks. So
- 20:37Speaker 1: Sam Darnold suffered a hip injury. There was a concern
- 20:41Speaker 1: during the game that it was broken. It seems that
- 20:43Speaker 1: it is not broken. Maybe it's a torn labrum.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 20:46Speaker 1: But basically, it doesn't necessarily mean out for the season,
- 20:50Speaker 1: but I do think it probably means out for a
- 20:52Speaker 1: long time. I can't remember where I saw this raised,
- 20:57Speaker 1: but I immediately saw people raising the question as to
- 21:01Speaker 1: whether or not The Seahawks, what quarterback should they go
- 21:04Speaker 1: out there and get? Because they have lost their starting quarterback.
- 21:07Speaker 1: So I saw you throwing out there, maybe they should
- 21:09Speaker 1: go get Kirk Cousins. And brother, I don't know about you,
- 21:13Speaker 1: but if I was able to win a Super Bowl
- 21:15Speaker 1: with Sam Darnold, I'd just do this Drew Locke thing. Shit,
- 21:18Speaker 1: we actually might not have to play Sam Darnold again.
- 21:22Speaker 3: And what makes you think that they're going to be
- 21:23Speaker 3: able to get Cousins? They seem committed to Kirk Cousins
- 21:27Speaker 3: being there the whole year. Would you have to give
- 21:28Speaker 3: up to get somebody like that? That's the thing with
- 21:31Speaker 3: Most positions, honestly, is at this point, ain't nobody available
- 21:34Speaker 3: that you want.
- 21:35Speaker 1: It's going to cost you. There's no, like, who was that? Philadelphia,
- 21:39Speaker 1: when they traded for Sam Bradford that time, right? There's
- 21:43Speaker 1: no just quarterback out here that somebody's just going to
- 21:46Speaker 1: be willing to punk the season and give them up,
- 21:48Speaker 1: I don't think, at this point.
- 21:49Speaker 2: I mean, if you can name it, let me know.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But I can't think of who that player is.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Especially not better than Drew Locke. Like, I mean... If
- 21:57Speaker 3: you're looking for somebody who has, like, the pedigree, like, yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 3: Drew Locke, somebody who's, at some point, people thought he
- 22:04Speaker 3: was rapping Jeezy and people thought he was going to
- 22:07Speaker 3: be their quarterback. And it was Denver, right, where they
- 22:09Speaker 3: thought he was going to be the quarterback of the future. Like,
- 22:10Speaker 3: I don't know, unless you're going to try to pull
- 22:12Speaker 3: somebody out of retirement, which I rewatched that game. The
- 22:17Speaker 3: Philip Rivers one. Them boys in the secondary did not
- 22:20Speaker 3: respect him in the least. They were sitting at five
- 22:24Speaker 3: yards just waiting. Like, go ahead, throw that thing up
- 22:27Speaker 3: past 10. It was outrageous. So yeah, there's nobody else
- 22:30Speaker 3: out there.
- 22:31Speaker 1: But also I think, and the reason that I find
- 22:33Speaker 1: this to be interesting, Drew Locke becoming a good quarterback
- 22:38Speaker 1: is on the board. And if you need an example
- 22:40Speaker 1: of the fact that it could happen, Sam Bradford, who
- 22:44Speaker 1: I still don't think is as good as people are
- 22:46Speaker 1: trying to tell me he is, but I think that
- 22:48Speaker 1: actually emboldens the point that I'm trying to make here.
- 22:52Speaker 1: that the growth arc of a quarterback or the development
- 22:56Speaker 1: arc of a quarterback is actually very long, right? These
- 23:01Speaker 1: aren't running backs. Running backs are like power pitchers in baseball.
- 23:03Speaker 1: You're probably going to be as good as you are.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Day one is probably as good as you're ever going
- 23:07Speaker 1: to be, right? We watch Matthew Stafford have an inexplicable
- 23:11Speaker 1: 17-year growth arc where he just keeps getting better, keeps
- 23:15Speaker 1: getting better, keeps getting better. Sam Darnold, this is year
- 23:18Speaker 1: nine for him. It took him until year seven to
- 23:22Speaker 1: be a passable NFL quarterback. And he was fortunate enough
- 23:25Speaker 1: that people kept putting them in places where maybe this
- 23:28Speaker 1: thing could happen for him. Geno Smith, we saw what
- 23:31Speaker 1: happened after we had completely given up on him. And
- 23:33Speaker 1: I mean, he still gets treated like he never turned good,
- 23:36Speaker 1: but he became at points, even a very good quarterback.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Drew Locke might be just fine, again, for a team
- 23:44Speaker 1: that don't really seem to need very much out of them,
- 23:47Speaker 1: which is amazing considering how few people on that team
- 23:51Speaker 1: whose names I know.
- 23:53Speaker 2: It's like six or seven of them, maybe.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Yeah. When you have the support that they have and
- 24:00Speaker 3: you're asking very little, like if you can hold the
- 24:04Speaker 3: team to 10 points, yeah. There's a lot of people
- 24:08Speaker 3: that can play quarterback in that situation. and get turnovers
- 24:12Speaker 3: in the red zone and give him a short field
- 24:13Speaker 3: on interceptions like that, you're not asking a whole bunch.
- 24:16Speaker 3: And speaking of running backs being good early, like Darion
- 24:19Speaker 3: Price looks like he's going to be really good for
- 24:21Speaker 3: that team running the ball. You're not asking a whole bunch.
- 24:24Speaker 3: And like his touchdown pass, it was a short curl
- 24:28Speaker 3: to JSN, and he took it to the crib. So, like,
- 24:31Speaker 3: not that Drew Locke didn't make any great throws. Like,
- 24:33Speaker 3: he made a couple really good throws, like two, literally
- 24:36Speaker 3: a couple really good throws. But so much support that
- 24:40Speaker 3: I think he can, he's serviceable and he's a veteran
- 24:42Speaker 3: guy who's been around this. The reason why you have
- 24:44Speaker 3: a backup quarterback, he can hold you down for three weeks.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jigba, I say this all the time.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I saw, did you watch.
- 24:53Speaker 1: That year in the Rose Bowl with him and CJ
- 24:55Speaker 1: Stroud where he caught like 800 yards worth of passes?
- 24:59Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 25:00Speaker 1: My impression of both of the boys have been skewed forever.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Because that was the first.
- 25:05Speaker 1: And then the next time I feel like I really
- 25:07Speaker 1: watched C.J. Stroud play was the next year in the
- 25:09Speaker 1: playoff where he was unreal against Georgia.
- 25:13Speaker 3: And Georgia's NFL defense, they were at that point. Like literally,
- 25:16Speaker 3: they had like four first rounders on that defense at
- 25:19Speaker 3: the time. Yeah, he was killing it.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Hey, man, Seattle out here. I think we talked about this.
- 25:25Speaker 1: It's very rare that a defending Super Bowl champion could
- 25:29Speaker 1: run the they don't believe in us card. But I
- 25:32Speaker 1: have never seen a team that dominated on its way
- 25:35Speaker 1: to winning that Super Bowl, by the way. be predicted
- 25:38Speaker 1: to be a wildcard team in quite the fashion that
- 25:41Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks have been predicted that.
- 25:43Speaker 2: They will be a wildcard team.
- 25:44Speaker 1: And by the way, it's a fair thing for people
- 25:47Speaker 1: to guess because the Rams got Miles Garrett and they're
- 25:49Speaker 1: bringing Aaron Donald out of mouth balls. Totally get you.
- 25:53Speaker 1: At the same time, if you're Seattle, you got to
- 25:55Speaker 1: be like, bro, what are.
- 25:55Speaker 3: You talking about? Yeah, I was going to say that,
- 25:59Speaker 3: that like, yeah, it's crazy. And if you are the Seahawks, yeah,
- 26:03Speaker 3: it feels incredibly disrespectful. But you know, who is looking
- 26:08Speaker 3: at this situation, not feeling like it's crazy. It's that
- 26:11Speaker 3: Seattle offensive line. They looking up like, they not out
- 26:17Speaker 3: here talking about nobody. We deserve more respect. They like,
- 26:21Speaker 3: this is going to be a goddamn problem. If Aaron
- 26:24Speaker 3: Donald pops up. So, like, they know. The thing is,
- 26:27Speaker 3: they doing that nobody believes in us stuff. But, like,
- 26:29Speaker 3: this is a unique situation. I'm not saying that it
- 26:32Speaker 3: is going to work. But, like, nobody is just being
- 26:35Speaker 3: jerks by not believing in them. They're just being logical.
- 26:39Speaker 2: They're right. All I'm saying is this.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I don't know if any defending Super Bowl champion is
- 26:43Speaker 1: going to be more locked in game after game after
- 26:45Speaker 1: game than that one right there.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to when they play each other, man.
- 26:52Speaker 3: That's going to be fun. I don't even know when
- 26:53Speaker 3: it is on the calendar, but that is going to
- 26:56Speaker 3: be fun. And I don't think the Rams care nearly
- 26:58Speaker 3: as much, excuse me, about this regular season as the
- 27:01Speaker 3: rest of us do. We want to see it, but
- 27:03Speaker 3: I think they walking into this first game kind of like, eh.
- 27:06Speaker 3: We'll see. Show up. Kick it off. See what happens.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Well, coming up next, we'll talk a little bit about
- 27:11Speaker 1: that Rams 49ers game. And we got a pretty good
- 27:16Speaker 1: week one slate. We'll talk about this here on the
- 27:18Speaker 1: right time. Football is finally back and PrizePix is bringing

- 28:49Speaker 1: are back with Dominique Foxworth. And in Australia, we talked
- 28:53Speaker 1: about this, the 49ers. are going to play against the Rams.
- 28:57Speaker 1: And as we talk about, you never know who's going
- 28:58Speaker 1: to be left standing at the end of the year.
- 29:00Speaker 1: We do know what team will probably have the highest
- 29:03Speaker 1: percentage of people not standing at the end of the year,
- 29:06Speaker 1: and that's the hurt-ass 49ers. I don't know if they'd
- 29:09Speaker 1: be doing it to themselves in practice everywhere else, and
- 29:11Speaker 1: now they get to go start off against Myles Garrett
- 29:14Speaker 1: and them. I guess it's going to be, well, at
- 29:15Speaker 1: least they got Trent Williams, right? We're going to find out.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Every year we just keep assuming Trent Williams is going
- 29:20Speaker 1: to be the same, but we're going to find out.
- 29:23Speaker 3: I mean, to be fair, don't tell him I said this,
- 29:25Speaker 3: but he started slipping a little bit last year. I
- 29:28Speaker 3: don't want to upset him. He seems like the type
- 29:30Speaker 3: that don't take kindly to disrespect. I don't mean as disrespect,
- 29:34Speaker 3: but he wasn't Hall of Fame Trent Williams last year
- 29:37Speaker 3: in the way that he's been in the past. So
- 29:39Speaker 3: he's still integral to the offense. He's still better than
- 29:41Speaker 3: most tackles, but he gave up some pressures, which is
- 29:45Speaker 3: something that he normally doesn't do. So if he's a
- 29:48Speaker 3: little diminished and everybody else on that team is hurt,
- 29:51Speaker 3: Kittle coming back from injuries in record time, that can't
- 29:54Speaker 3: be something that you count on.
- 29:56Speaker 1: At that age.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Yeah, at that age. That can't be something you count
- 29:58Speaker 3: on either. stopped being able to run the ball last year, too,
- 30:01Speaker 3: which is crazy. Like, if you put all that together,
- 30:04Speaker 3: they damn near, they came down to one game away
- 30:06Speaker 3: from winning the division, and their whole defense was hurt.
- 30:09Speaker 3: They couldn't stop the run, and they also couldn't run
- 30:11Speaker 3: the ball. It's like, it's a riddle that I don't
- 30:13Speaker 3: know how you solve.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Hey, man, George Kittle is at this age. I'm in
- 30:18Speaker 1: the best shape of my life.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Bad news. Bad, bad news. He's at that place.
- 30:27Speaker 3: No, that.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Especially considering that they've decided to do this with the
- 30:33Speaker 1: marginally talented quarterback, right? Like regardless of how good you
- 30:36Speaker 1: think Purdy is, marginally talented.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Yuck.
- 30:41Speaker 1: In a division, by the way, where you can finish
- 30:45Speaker 1: third and feel pretty good going into the playoffs because
- 30:47Speaker 1: of the other teams that you're going to have to
- 30:49Speaker 1: deal with. Their season, especially after all the wild shit
- 30:52Speaker 1: that's happening, right? Your owner is a sex fiend.
- 30:57Speaker 2: You got people out here pretending to play for y'all.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Um... Yeah, yeah.
- 31:03Speaker 1: It's so funny how we add that guy, y'all, to
- 31:05Speaker 1: the 49ers stuff. Oh, forgot about Kyle Shanahan and the
- 31:09Speaker 1: shenanigans they tried to run with the accident.
- 31:13Speaker 3: That's their best player. It seems like Kyle Shanahan, their
- 31:18Speaker 3: most impactful player. I hope that his brain wasn't shaking
- 31:21Speaker 3: up too much because he's the reason why they can
- 31:23Speaker 3: still maintain some level of competitiveness. And we'll see, like,
- 31:27Speaker 3: the defense... is healthier now than it was last year,
- 31:30Speaker 3: but it's older too. Like both say the same coming
- 31:34Speaker 3: off injury and they same thing with Warner. Like he's
- 31:36Speaker 3: getting up there and he's coming back from injury. They're
- 31:38Speaker 3: relying on a lot of old guys to make this
- 31:40Speaker 3: defense work. Yeah, buddy.
- 31:43Speaker 1: And you know, Shanahan is so interesting because I think
- 31:46Speaker 1: we all agree, obviously very good at his job, but
- 31:51Speaker 1: in that interesting way where we would not say he's
- 31:54Speaker 1: flawless at his job, right? There are things that come up, but,
- 31:58Speaker 1: They are the clear number three team in that division
- 32:00Speaker 1: right now.
- 32:02Speaker 2: And it could be like that for a while.
- 32:05Speaker 3: He is very good at, like he's very good at
- 32:09Speaker 3: specific parts of his job. It's like, sometimes we just
- 32:12Speaker 3: throw out that like this coach is a good coach.
- 32:15Speaker 3: It just like blanket thing, but you can isolate the
- 32:19Speaker 3: way that he's good in producing offense. He's very good
- 32:21Speaker 3: at that. And I think that overcomes some of the
- 32:23Speaker 3: other like in-game decision-making issues that he's had is, this
- 32:27Speaker 3: team is going to be ready for just about every game.
- 32:30Speaker 3: But I don't know. Last year with that, what the
- 32:33Speaker 3: Rams did to them defensively, the second time that they played,
- 32:36Speaker 3: I think they scored on all but like two of
- 32:38Speaker 3: the drives. That's the bigger question to me is do
- 32:41Speaker 3: they have the firepower? Oh, yeah, you left out Pearsall's
- 32:44Speaker 3: injured too. Do they have the firepower?
- 32:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought he might have been, but I couldn't remember.
- 32:48Speaker 1: I feel like he always hurts, so I feel like
- 32:49Speaker 1: I might have been reaching.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Well, he didn't get shot this time. That was there.
- 32:53Speaker 3: That was a wild way. To start your career. You
- 32:56Speaker 3: can't blame that on the substation or whatever's out there.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Well, especially because it was B-Rad. You know what I'm saying?
- 33:03Speaker 1: Like, immediately it raised questions about, man, how far was
- 33:06Speaker 1: you trying to take this?
- 33:10Speaker 2: How far was you going?
- 33:11Speaker 3: Oh, man. Just get that man to watch, please. Give
- 33:14Speaker 3: him the watch.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was totally on the board.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Who you think you messing with, fool?
- 33:22Speaker 3: This team is going to be I don't know. I mean,
- 33:25Speaker 3: I think they're going to be third in the division.
- 33:27Speaker 3: But I can't say that I wouldn't be surprised. I
- 33:30Speaker 3: still would be surprised if they, like, overcome. But any
- 33:33Speaker 3: other team or any other coach with this team, I
- 33:36Speaker 3: think we're looking at a real high draft pick. They
- 33:39Speaker 3: have a chance to, like, be mediocre to me. And
- 33:41Speaker 3: they even have a chance of winning this first game
- 33:43Speaker 3: against the Rams. But I don't think it's going to
- 33:45Speaker 3: hold up.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Well, also for me, another thing I always wonder, like,
- 33:49Speaker 1: when it comes to Kyle is, he has a defensive coordinator,
- 33:53Speaker 1: but Kyle Shanahan is the head coach of the defense.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Like he's a Tom Landry sort of figure where he is.
- 33:58Speaker 1: His coordinator's job is to run his offense. Like he's
- 34:00Speaker 1: the offensive mastermind and the defensive mastermind. And I feel
- 34:03Speaker 1: like you might be doing too much, brother.
- 34:06Speaker 3: I mean, they have, I know Mike is around there
- 34:09Speaker 3: a lot. I assume he is. He was the last
- 34:11Speaker 3: few years. I assume he's still around there a lot,
- 34:13Speaker 3: helping to influence the way that they prepare for these games. But,
- 34:17Speaker 3: They started last year to change their defense more than
- 34:20Speaker 3: they have in the past because they normally run pretty
- 34:22Speaker 3: static stuff. But because of the injuries, they were in
- 34:25Speaker 3: so much trouble, they had to get more complicated. And
- 34:28Speaker 3: they bring in Raheem, I think, is the coach now,
- 34:31Speaker 3: and he's going to run Sims. I assume that he's
- 34:33Speaker 3: going to run simulated pressure. They're going to modernize the defense.
- 34:35Speaker 3: They're going to have to. And that, I think, will
- 34:37Speaker 3: go a long way to see how good they can
- 34:39Speaker 3: be as a team because injuries are going to pile up,
- 34:42Speaker 3: as they always do.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Hey, man, moving on to the rest of the week one.
- 34:49Speaker 2: I mean, C.J. Stroud, Josh Allen, Buffalo, Houston. Lucky for C.J.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Stroud, that's a one o'clock kick. Maybe it would be
- 34:57Speaker 1: good for C.J. Stroud if it was a four o'clock kick.
- 34:59Speaker 1: If you think he's going to be able to make
- 35:01Speaker 1: something happen, because there's some reason to have questions about
- 35:03Speaker 1: that Buffalo defense that's in transition. When you go nine
- 35:05Speaker 1: years from a defensive head coach to trying to scheme.
- 35:08Speaker 1: with Jim Leonard that is not the same. And we're
- 35:11Speaker 1: not sure if they have the bodies to run the
- 35:13Speaker 1: scheme that they've got in the year where all my
- 35:17Speaker 1: white friends, except for Nick, keep trying to tell me,
- 35:20Speaker 1: I think we're going.
- 35:20Speaker 2: To get it for Josh. I think it might finally happen.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Aren't you excited?
- 35:26Speaker 3: I don't see it this year for Josh, but you know,
- 35:28Speaker 3: I mean, I didn't see it last year for the
- 35:30Speaker 3: Seahawks either. So anything could happen. But like your point
- 35:33Speaker 3: about the defense is a huge one. And this is
- 35:35Speaker 3: as bad as it can get for a place for
- 35:37Speaker 3: the Bills to start because the Texans actually give Josh
- 35:41Speaker 3: Allen hell. They went and got DJ Moore to help
- 35:45Speaker 3: because the Texans just play man coverage. They don't respect
- 35:48Speaker 3: anybody and then get after Josh all game long. And
- 35:51Speaker 3: he'll get some scrambles, but it's not enough to get
- 35:53Speaker 3: it done. So this is a tough place for them
- 35:56Speaker 3: to start. And to your point, the defensive switch, I
- 36:00Speaker 3: don't make a big deal about switching from 4-3 to
- 36:02Speaker 3: 3-4 normally, but if your problem is In the 4-3,
- 36:05Speaker 3: you can't stop the run. You're going to switch over
- 36:08Speaker 3: to the 3-4, and you got 4-3 bodies. And it's
- 36:11Speaker 3: going to be tough. So we'll see what Jim Leonard
- 36:14Speaker 3: can do with his motion or movement up front, stunts
- 36:17Speaker 3: and whatever. But I don't know. This is a good place, though,
- 36:21Speaker 3: because the Texans can't run the ball either. So we'll see.
- 36:24Speaker 1: I saw you and Kravitz and Ben Solak, who I
- 36:28Speaker 1: got to be honest with you, man. I don't think
- 36:31Speaker 1: I had heard Ben Solak's voice before. I had just
- 36:34Speaker 1: seen him looking like he's 14. And then I heard
- 36:37Speaker 1: him talking like a grown man. I thought that shit
- 36:39Speaker 1: was AI, bro. I didn't think that it was possible.
- 36:44Speaker 1: That was, you know.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Was that Geico? We had to look like Talking Babies commercial. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:52Speaker 1: It was in that zone. But the point you guys
- 36:55Speaker 1: made about the Houston, Texas defense was funny. that people
- 36:58Speaker 1: try to make the argument that, you know, the Texas
- 37:00Speaker 1: dude was complex.
- 37:01Speaker 2: No, it's not like they like old Miami.
- 37:05Speaker 1: We got, I mean, by Miami, I mean hurricanes. How
- 37:09Speaker 1: about we rush four, drop seven, and hit people hard?
- 37:13Speaker 2: What you think, guys?
- 37:14Speaker 3: You think we could do it? What you think? It is,
- 37:17Speaker 3: that is it. And they've gotten bigger and better through
- 37:20Speaker 3: the draft and through free agency. Like, it's... They had
- 37:24Speaker 3: no weaknesses last year, and somehow they've gotten a little
- 37:27Speaker 3: bit better. So, yeah, it's nothing too complicated. I think
- 37:31Speaker 3: you want to give, especially if they have a defensive-minded
- 37:33Speaker 3: head coach, you want to be like, oh, he's scheming
- 37:35Speaker 3: the shit out of stuff. Like, nah, it's motivation. It's
- 37:39Speaker 3: motivation and violence is what they're doing out there. We
- 37:43Speaker 3: must protect our house no matter where we are at
- 37:45Speaker 3: all times. Amen.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I don't think we give D'Amico nearly enough credit because
- 37:50Speaker 1: we have forgotten how bad, as a franchise, They were.
- 37:54Speaker 1: And they probably only could hire D'Amico because D'Amico played
- 37:58Speaker 1: for them and got a wife from Houston. But otherwise,
- 38:01Speaker 1: remember when they was just hiring any black dude they
- 38:03Speaker 1: could get to take the job because only a black
- 38:04Speaker 1: man would take that job?
- 38:06Speaker 3: I do remember very clearly when they put David Cully
- 38:09Speaker 3: in there for.
- 38:10Speaker 2: That suicide mission.
- 38:13Speaker 1: And then Lovey, like, they was... Honestly, I'm afraid to
- 38:17Speaker 1: say who I thought they also might hire, because I
- 38:19Speaker 1: think that person might be... No, he's still here. Surprised
- 38:22Speaker 1: they ain't gonna get Romeo Cornell again.
- 38:24Speaker 3: My fault.
- 38:24Speaker 2: I forgot they had already did that.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 3: For whatever reason, I thought you was gonna say Hugh Jackson.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Like, that's No, no, I think that's the bridge too far.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why when you said you had to start Googling,
- 38:35Speaker 3: I was like, oh, okay.
- 38:35Speaker 2: No, no, no, I had to Google to make sure
- 38:37Speaker 2: Romeo wasn't dead.
- 38:39Speaker 1: With Hugh Jackson, the problem is Hugh Jackson got too
- 38:42Speaker 1: much ego. They needed a black man that was just
- 38:45Speaker 1: happy to get a job.
- 38:47Speaker 3: They are happy that this black man has the job, man,
- 38:49Speaker 3: because this team has been really, really impressive. And they
- 38:53Speaker 3: made us all look dumb. when we all were like,
- 38:56Speaker 3: why are you moving up in the draft? I've been
- 38:59Speaker 3: saying that Will Edison move.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Because, you know, the reason was we thought they were
- 39:03Speaker 1: going to be terrible.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Right?
- 39:05Speaker 1: Like, we thought they were trading away a top three
- 39:08Speaker 1: pick when they did that. And instead, they made the playoffs.
- 39:13Speaker 3: And he's been... Amazing. Right.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Because that wasn't a guarantee either.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Oh, of course not. Like people were saying that he's good,
- 39:21Speaker 3: but like he's like solid was like the projection. He's
- 39:25Speaker 3: like solid with maybe some upside he walked in the
- 39:28Speaker 3: league and was like nah I'm one of the best
- 39:32Speaker 3: it's just that plain and simple and then Daniel Hunter
- 39:35Speaker 3: is probably a better pass rusher than he is technically but.
- 39:40Speaker 1: They got another local they got the local connection comes
- 39:44Speaker 1: through again that's.
- 39:46Speaker 3: One of those things where and I feel like I've
- 39:49Speaker 3: I've managed to like stop forgetting it. But when you
- 39:53Speaker 3: do this, like every day you analyze football, I think
- 39:56Speaker 3: you look more and more for deeper analysis and more interesting, intricate,
- 40:03Speaker 3: fun scheme stuff to like expose to people. But you
- 40:06Speaker 3: have to remember that the only reason why anybody does
- 40:11Speaker 3: any of that shit is because they can't whoop the
- 40:15Speaker 3: man in front of them. That's where it starts. If
- 40:20Speaker 3: you can consistently whoop the man in front of you,
- 40:22Speaker 3: you ain't got to do nothing but roll a ball
- 40:25Speaker 3: out there. And that's what they doing. Like, I'm not
- 40:27Speaker 3: saying that they're not prepared. Like, they're smart. They do
- 40:30Speaker 3: have some change-ups here and there. But, like, one of
- 40:33Speaker 3: the hallmarks of these modern defenses, and if you watch
- 40:35Speaker 3: the Seahawks, it's like the safeties are going everywhere. It's
- 40:38Speaker 3: so hard to pick out what they're doing. Pre-snap, everybody's disguising,
- 40:41Speaker 3: and it's so confusing. Like, nah, they line up single
- 40:45Speaker 3: high almost every time. It's either going to be one
- 40:47Speaker 3: or three. We might blitz on third down, but we
- 40:50Speaker 3: all going to whoop your ass.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Rush four. Drop seven.
- 40:58Speaker 1: We ain't got to put on all this makeup.
- 41:01Speaker 2: We ain't got to do all.
- 41:02Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 41:03Speaker 1: We stacked. We got it like that. Pass me them
- 41:06Speaker 1: yoga pads. That's all I need. Shit, in fact, I
- 41:13Speaker 1: don't even need that. Bob jeans, watch. You're going to
- 41:17Speaker 1: see it like that, too. God damn, it don't matter
- 41:19Speaker 1: what they put on.
- 41:21Speaker 3: And then, I don't want to further this analogy because
- 41:24Speaker 3: and then, they get nasty, too. So nasty. They are
- 41:30Speaker 3: trying to hurt people.
- 41:32Speaker 2: They got an energy about them.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Yes.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Energy.
- 41:37Speaker 3: We're going to get that fine. That's fine. We'll pay it.
- 41:42Speaker 3: You remember, wasn't that them who hit Trevor Lawrence late
- 41:46Speaker 3: as hell? Yeah, we'll pay it.
- 41:50Speaker 1: And what was they do with the Arabic name that
- 41:53Speaker 1: put that shoulder on Mahomes that time?
- 41:55Speaker 3: Alshair, right?
- 41:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Alshair, that's right.
- 41:58Speaker 3: He was suspended for like three weeks apologizing. Yes.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I mix him up with the big swole one that
- 42:05Speaker 1: the 49ers got that Mahomes took down.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Mustafa? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He ran through him.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Hey man, that boy, that's a fruity Islam motherfucker right there.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Like that cat right there, he is ready. If it
- 42:18Speaker 1: comes down to the fight, we need to try to,
- 42:21Speaker 1: I don't know who we is, but somebody might need
- 42:23Speaker 1: to try to convert him. Because Allah got a soldier
- 42:28Speaker 1: in that one right there.
- 42:30Speaker 3: I've been on defenses with that nasty edge. And I'll
- 42:33Speaker 3: have you know, we're upset about the penalty. We're upset
- 42:37Speaker 3: about the money. There's a lot of daps. There's a
- 42:41Speaker 3: lot of daps in the locker room.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I thought you were referring to your college defense when
- 42:45Speaker 1: you said that as you went to college with the
- 42:47Speaker 1: maniac named Sean Merriman.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I've told you a couple of
- 42:56Speaker 3: Sean stories.
- 42:58Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 42:59Speaker 3: That guy, he was really good at football. Really explosive.
- 43:04Speaker 3: And sometimes he would do football at the wrong time. As, yeah.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Who was that that made that joke? That was a
- 43:11Speaker 3: good one.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Football at the wrong time.
- 43:14Speaker 3: It was Neil Brennan, I think. That's right. That's right.
- 43:17Speaker 1: He did say that about sometimes they would do football
- 43:19Speaker 1: at the wrong time.
- 43:21Speaker 3: I've witnessed that before. It's like, yeah. It stinks to
- 43:24Speaker 3: do football at the wrong time. But those guys also.
- 43:28Speaker 3: They do football all the time. Yeah. And they do
- 43:31Speaker 3: it better than most.
- 43:32Speaker 1: It's a lifestyle. It's not simply a vocation, right? It's
- 43:37Speaker 1: an ethos.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Yeah, if you do what you love, you're going to
- 43:41Speaker 3: have to work a day in your life.
- 43:42Speaker 1: There you go.
- 43:43Speaker 3: There you go.
- 43:44Speaker 1: So I got a couple games, like three other games
- 43:47Speaker 1: to get to this week. It ain't going to take
- 43:48Speaker 1: too much time, but I do think they are interesting.
- 43:52Speaker 1: one of them is Tampa and Cincinnati and another is
- 43:55Speaker 1: Green Bay and Minnesota. And I feel like those two
- 43:57Speaker 1: games are low key hot seat bowls. Like I feel
- 44:01Speaker 1: like out of those four teams, at least two of
- 44:04Speaker 1: them will have new coaches next year, if not three.
- 44:08Speaker 3: It's possible. I'm really high on Tampa this year. They
- 44:11Speaker 3: have one of the best O-lines in football. I actually
- 44:13Speaker 3: think that if the success of their season is dependent
- 44:18Speaker 3: on how how well they do. Like, I feel confident
- 44:21Speaker 3: that they're going to do pretty well. They paid Mayfield.
- 44:25Speaker 3: And I do think that speaking of these special guys
- 44:29Speaker 3: on defense, I think Ruben Vane is one of those guys.
- 44:31Speaker 3: And then I, Keontae Scott from Miami too, who's not
- 44:33Speaker 3: a big name guy, but makes a bunch of plays
- 44:36Speaker 3: to add to that defense. That defensive line is something special.
- 44:38Speaker 3: I think that defense.
- 44:39Speaker 1: And they got the, they got the fake Aaron Donald, right?
- 44:43Speaker 3: Oh yeah. Yeah. You're talking about.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yancey. Kalijah Yancey.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:49Speaker 1: And for those who don't know, he's a short little
- 44:52Speaker 1: fire plug who went to Pitt.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Yep.
- 44:54Speaker 2: He's literally a fake Aaron Donald.
- 44:57Speaker 3: And next to him, they got Vita Vea, who is
- 44:59Speaker 3: the opposite.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Yes. Enormous.
- 45:01Speaker 3: And, like, you think he's a run stuffer because he's
- 45:03Speaker 3: built like the old run stuffers, but he's a great
- 45:05Speaker 3: pass rusher also, and Diaby can rush the pass. I
- 45:08Speaker 3: think that's going to be enough to make this defense
- 45:10Speaker 3: really something, and they got a great O-line, so I
- 45:12Speaker 3: think they're going to be good. But the Bengals, excuse me,
- 45:17Speaker 3: the Bengals, yeah, that's, Zach Taylor might not make it
- 45:21Speaker 3: through the season if things don't start off well.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Oh, no, don't you worry. He'll make it through the season.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Oh, that's right. Yeah, that's fair.
- 45:28Speaker 1: As long as he's getting paid to coach 17 games,
- 45:32Speaker 1: he will coach 17.
- 45:35Speaker 3: It's not even that they will keep him. It's that
- 45:37Speaker 3: they don't want to get nobody no bump. No. Can't
- 45:39Speaker 3: make me the head coach without giving me a bump. Yeah,
- 45:43Speaker 3: he'll make it. So, yeah, you're right. He won't be
- 45:45Speaker 3: fired midseason because they're not going to let nobody off easy.
- 45:48Speaker 3: And I think in Green Bay, they got some built-in excuses.
- 45:50Speaker 3: I'm not sure if they're going to accept them, but
- 45:52Speaker 3: they got some built-in excuses with the injuries and the
- 45:58Speaker 3: commissioner exempt list for that running back and injuries on
- 46:01Speaker 3: the defense and injuries on the whole line. I think
- 46:03Speaker 3: they have some built-in excuses, but sometimes that does not
- 46:06Speaker 3: matter at all. And I also think Vikings are safe.
- 46:09Speaker 3: I think they blame a lot of that stuff on,
- 46:11Speaker 3: Of course, the Adolfo Mensah, the roster that he put together,
- 46:14Speaker 3: I think they believe KOC is one of these offensive
- 46:17Speaker 3: guru coaches that was being hampered by a Wall Street
- 46:21Speaker 3: guy who ain't no ball. This is not me speaking.
- 46:24Speaker 3: This is what I believe they think.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Yeah, but I was under the impression that the roster
- 46:30Speaker 1: was the coaches and the staff.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Was the GMs.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Like, how the blame or whatever gets doled out is
- 46:39Speaker 1: going to be interesting. And we know, speaking of complex,
- 46:41Speaker 1: Brian Flores, forever defense head coach, is going to be
- 46:45Speaker 1: out there just throwing things at people.
- 46:47Speaker 3: Somebody's going to hire him, man. It's going to happen
- 46:50Speaker 3: one of these days. No, it's not. No, it's not.
- 46:53Speaker 1: It's not going to happen, and I wouldn't hire him either.
- 46:57Speaker 3: He was so good. Like, he's been... The further he's
- 47:01Speaker 3: gotten away from the Dolphins, the more I appreciate how
- 47:04Speaker 3: well he– like, you remember I was coming out saying
- 47:07Speaker 3: this team was tanking. They ended up winning nine games.
- 47:10Speaker 3: They did. They did. He was an awesome coach, and
- 47:12Speaker 3: he said, you know what? This Tua guy ain't it.
- 47:15Speaker 3: And then McDonnell or McDaniel came in there, and we
- 47:19Speaker 3: was like, oh, Tua good. And then we was like,
- 47:22Speaker 3: maybe not. Maybe Tyreek Hill is awesome. Maybe that's what happened. Yeah.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Some people are– and you're the one who says this
- 47:29Speaker 1: as much as anybody else. Some people just.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Need to be coordinated.
- 47:32Speaker 1: That's true. Right? Like there are other parts of being
- 47:36Speaker 1: a head coach that Brian Flores struggles with, and that
- 47:39Speaker 1: is people stuff. His soft game is not– his soft
- 47:44Speaker 1: game is insufficient.
- 47:47Speaker 2: On a number of levels. His soft game just ain't
- 47:51Speaker 2: up to snuff.
- 47:52Speaker 3: That's funny because that's like he blitzes like twice as
- 47:56Speaker 3: much as anybody in football. And it's like, man, do
- 47:59Speaker 3: football all the time. Yeah, that's it, that's it. Like, yeah. Oh,
- 48:02Speaker 3: you want to have a conversation? I'm sitting in heat.
- 48:05Speaker 3: In this conversation, we sitting in heat. We max pressuring
- 48:08Speaker 3: right now.
- 48:09Speaker 2: That's all he know.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Now, the last game we got here, boy, we're talking
- 48:12Speaker 1: about here, Sunday night, we got the Giants and the
- 48:15Speaker 1: Cowboys and my good buddy, Danny Parkins. Parko got on TV,
- 48:24Speaker 1: and I'll say this, he made a fairly compelling case
- 48:26Speaker 1: for it. He picked the Giants to win that entire division.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Malik Nabors?
- 48:38Speaker 1: He had, you know, Danny's a stat guy, so he
- 48:41Speaker 1: had some stats that made the point, but I....
- 48:49Speaker 2: I thought that sounded like drugs.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, they got some really impressive guys on
- 48:56Speaker 3: the defense. I mean, they got rid of Dexter Lawrence,
- 48:58Speaker 3: but even without him, their front is still really impressive.
- 49:00Speaker 2: They should be bringing heat, right?
- 49:01Speaker 1: Like, they got Abdul Carter, Brian Burns, and which Ohio
- 49:06Speaker 1: State guy did they get?
- 49:07Speaker 4: Reese?
- 49:07Speaker 3: Yeah, Reese got him, and they played him off-ball, but
- 49:11Speaker 3: he's a hell of a pass rusher, too. I'm sure
- 49:13Speaker 3: they'll blitz him a bunch. That should be it. The
- 49:15Speaker 3: question is, is that going to be enough to compensate
- 49:17Speaker 3: for the other shortcomings that they have in the secondary?
- 49:20Speaker 3: We'll see. Jackson Dart had a good rookie year, but
- 49:25Speaker 3: you go back and look at it, it's a lot
- 49:26Speaker 3: of on the ground running the ball type stuff. We'll
- 49:30Speaker 3: see how that works out with him because he likes
- 49:33Speaker 3: to go in the tent. It's weird when the thing
- 49:35Speaker 3: you do best is also the thing they want you
- 49:38Speaker 3: to stop doing. It's hard for me to imagine that
- 49:40Speaker 3: they're just going to run away and score a bunch
- 49:42Speaker 3: of points. But neighbors, if neighbors, neighbors was like one
- 49:44Speaker 3: of the best receivers in football when he was healthy.
- 49:47Speaker 3: If that's the neighbors you get back, then I feel
- 49:50Speaker 3: differently about this team. I still don't think they're better
- 49:52Speaker 3: than the Eagles or the Cowboys.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I think they sound is so morose in the way
- 49:57Speaker 1: that they talked about neighbors all offseason. I will believe
- 50:00Speaker 1: they they were talking in ways or me or Ryan
- 50:03Speaker 1: was wondering why.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Does he still have a leg?
- 50:06Speaker 1: They were talking in ways that made me think he
- 50:09Speaker 1: wouldn't play this year. So I'm kind of like, we'll see. Dart,
- 50:15Speaker 1: they wanted for Dart. I think it's hard not to
- 50:18Speaker 1: watch the coverage of Dart and not come to the
- 50:20Speaker 1: conclusion they wanted for him and they got him a,
- 50:23Speaker 1: shall we say, partner in crime. You understand what I'm
- 50:27Speaker 1: saying here, right? They got a transcendent running back. The
- 50:31Speaker 1: problem is, Both of them, based on all the available
- 50:35Speaker 1: evidence that we have given, or rather than say both
- 50:38Speaker 1: of them, neither of them appears to be very bright.
- 50:42Speaker 1: In a way that I don't see how it doesn't
- 50:45Speaker 1: affect the football. When Jackson Dart's like, I don't understand
- 50:49Speaker 1: why they keep sending me to the tent.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Boy, what did you say?
- 50:53Speaker 1: You don't understand how to, like, oh, and you keep
- 50:56Speaker 1: doing that dumb shit on top of the fact that
- 50:58Speaker 1: you said some dumb shit, which just makes me.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Think, like, he might be out there like Brett Favre, like,
- 51:03Speaker 2: what's a nickel defense? I don't understand, right?
- 51:05Speaker 1: And maybe he's good enough that he don't need to
- 51:08Speaker 1: know these things.
- 51:09Speaker 2: I could be wrong.
- 51:11Speaker 1: And then that Scataboo boy, whew, I would not cheat
- 51:14Speaker 1: off of his paper.
- 51:17Speaker 3: He said CTE wasn't real, man.
- 51:19Speaker 1: He got up there and did that backflip. I would
- 51:22Speaker 1: not cheat off of his paper. The Giants are not
- 51:27Speaker 1: apparently trying to out-thank you with these guys.
- 51:32Speaker 2: And John Harbaugh possibly cooked.
- 51:38Speaker 1: It's on the board.
- 51:41Speaker 3: I mean, of those two guys, only one position isn't
- 51:47Speaker 3: a problem. I don't know that either. I mean, we
- 51:50Speaker 3: can point to some evidence that suggests that maybe they're
- 51:52Speaker 3: not the sharpest. Maybe they are. But I don't care
- 51:57Speaker 3: if the running back not. It's the quarterback, man. So
- 52:01Speaker 3: if that turns out to be a problem where his
- 52:05Speaker 3: offseason decisions became an issue in the locker room, which
- 52:09Speaker 3: sometimes that stuff is overblown, it might ultimately bring the
- 52:11Speaker 3: team closer together. But the idea that he is generating
- 52:15Speaker 3: this attention... And this doesn't even get to the on-field decisions.
- 52:18Speaker 3: Those are obviously more important. But, like, the idea that
- 52:22Speaker 3: he's generating that attention when you are, like, tasked with
- 52:25Speaker 3: being that, like, adult in the room as the quarterback
- 52:29Speaker 3: and then you're making these decisions on the field also, like,
- 52:32Speaker 3: that is concerning for the long-term future of Jackson Gardner.
- 52:35Speaker 2: I admit.
- 52:37Speaker 3: He's a level quarterback.
- 52:38Speaker 2: I admit I feel bad.
- 52:39Speaker 1: After watching Scataboo do that backflip, I've been waiting for
- 52:41Speaker 1: like six weeks to just get out here and just
- 52:43Speaker 1: say something about that dumb shit. I apologize for even
- 52:47Speaker 1: talking about it like that because I don't know.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Maybe he's some kind of savant. But I do feel
- 52:53Speaker 2: like that is a.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Those are two dudes that run through a wall for
- 52:57Speaker 1: you and somebody be like, but there's a door right there.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Now you got two doors.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Yeah, all you had to do was.
- 53:05Speaker 1: It used to be at wrestling where they had the
- 53:07Speaker 1: steel cage match. And Hulk Hogan would always try to
- 53:09Speaker 1: be like a G and climb over the top of
- 53:11Speaker 1: the cage. And the bad guys would always be trying
- 53:14Speaker 1: to just get to the door. It's a door right there.
- 53:17Speaker 1: You can just walk out. I know it seems crazy, but,
- 53:20Speaker 1: you know, that's your option. Meanwhile, the Cowboys, are they good?
- 53:24Speaker 1: I feel like they're good.
- 53:26Speaker 3: I mean, a Tyler Smith injury is going to hurt
- 53:28Speaker 3: their running attack. But, yeah, we just need proof of concept.
- 53:34Speaker 3: They got all the pieces that you need. We got
- 53:37Speaker 3: the proof of concept of the offense. It's really just defense.
- 53:41Speaker 3: If their defense is... I feel like we said this
- 53:44Speaker 3: ad nauseum. They don't have to be great, but they
- 53:46Speaker 3: have the potential to be actually a good defense. If
- 53:49Speaker 3: the offense returns, they just got to be okay on
- 53:53Speaker 3: defense because last year they were awful. They might be good.
- 53:57Speaker 3: Dak is the quarterback that everyone says is no longer
- 54:00Speaker 3: in the league anymore. This guy who's Kind of like
- 54:03Speaker 3: the opposite, like he's a kind of genius-level football guy
- 54:07Speaker 3: that sees everything and consistently makes the best decisions and
- 54:12Speaker 3: also has the arm strength to rip it, wants to
- 54:14Speaker 3: stay in the pocket. Like he's that guy. And now
- 54:17Speaker 3: I'm sure anyone who's listening to this will bring up
- 54:19Speaker 3: the playoffs, and that's another conversation. But in the regular season,
- 54:23Speaker 3: he's as good as anybody at that stuff.
- 54:25Speaker 1: And they got George Pickens on to prove it one
- 54:27Speaker 1: more again. I feel like Tampa Bay messed up with
- 54:31Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield. Get his cranky ass out there with something
- 54:34Speaker 1: to prove again. Y'all out here validating him.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Show me, little man.
- 54:40Speaker 3: That Baker chip on his shoulder thing. Yeah, I'm with you. But, man. Again,
- 54:48Speaker 3: you don't have no other options.
- 54:50Speaker 2: I know.
- 54:50Speaker 1: I understand why they did it that way. I'm just saying,
- 54:53Speaker 1: if y'all was really all in on this year, you
- 54:54Speaker 1: just talk bad to Baker all the time. I would
- 54:56Speaker 1: never say nothing nice to Baker if I was his coach.
- 54:58Speaker 2: You don't appreciate that.
- 54:59Speaker 3: You don't respond to that. I wonder, yeah, the Pickens
- 55:03Speaker 3: thing is people made the argument that keeping him on
- 55:07Speaker 3: this franchise tag situation is, to your point, prove it again,
- 55:12Speaker 3: it's hungry or whatever. Assuming, and you've helped to remind
- 55:18Speaker 3: me and teach me. This is like, as an economist
- 55:21Speaker 3: is like, yeah, you can predict the actions of a
- 55:24Speaker 3: big group. Individuals, man. Like just this assumption that like,
- 55:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we're going to get them hungry again. He
- 55:31Speaker 3: going to do just like last year. Like that really
- 55:34Speaker 3: ain't true necessarily. Like maybe I hope so. And like,
- 55:38Speaker 3: people would argue that the reason why he hadn't had
- 55:40Speaker 3: success before he got to Dallas was because he hadn't
- 55:43Speaker 3: had a quarterback to get him the ball, which that's
- 55:46Speaker 3: as plausible as anything. But also like thinking that you
- 55:49Speaker 3: are going to press the right button and get the
- 55:52Speaker 3: result that you expect. I think that.
- 55:56Speaker 1: I think with George Pickens, todo es posible. Todo es
- 56:01Speaker 1: en la plancha. It's all there.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Anything can happen.
- 56:04Speaker 3: That week last year where people say he was loafing,
- 56:08Speaker 3: he snapped on everybody. fighting with the media and everything.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Cowboys every day just kind of like, man, just throw
- 56:15Speaker 1: the ball, dog. Let me tell you what I bet
- 56:18Speaker 1: George Pickens does for the Cowboys, though. I bet he'd
- 56:21Speaker 1: be making them appreciate C.D.
- 56:22Speaker 3: Lamb.
- 56:26Speaker 1: C.D. Lamb is like, George Pickens, but you ain't got
- 56:28Speaker 1: to worry about him.
- 56:32Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean, people made the argument that maybe
- 56:34Speaker 3: they'll make a different decision at the end of this
- 56:37Speaker 3: year because Pickens is younger and and healthier than CeeDee Lamb. I,
- 56:42Speaker 3: like you, I assume this is what you would say.
- 56:44Speaker 3: It's like, I don't think they're going to see the
- 56:46Speaker 3: CeeDee and see where that takes them.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Look, I don't know what is going on with George
- 56:50Speaker 1: Pickens that they ain't told us. But I would not
- 56:53Speaker 1: be surprised if it is something. That's all I'm saying.
- 56:56Speaker 3: I want George Pickens and J-Mo on the same team.
- 57:01Speaker 3: That's what I want.
- 57:03Speaker 1: So, you raise a very interesting question for somebody like me.
- 57:08Speaker 1: fan of America's team, the Detroit Lions. If you told
- 57:12Speaker 1: me that that was on the board, right? If they
- 57:14Speaker 1: were like, yo, I'm on Ross St. Brown out of
- 57:17Speaker 1: there for George Pickens and to put him with J-Mo.
- 57:23Speaker 1: That would be what you're asking me is what is
- 57:26Speaker 1: my faith level in Dan-O and his ability to keep
- 57:29Speaker 1: it going? Because Dan-O already couldn't stop J-Mo from humping
- 57:32Speaker 1: the ground in the playoffs.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Yes.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Couldn't stop J-Mo from sending bets at the facility.
- 57:40Speaker 2: What was that other, oh, what was that other dumb
- 57:42Speaker 2: shit J-Mo did? J-Mo threw that interception.
- 57:44Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I was talking about the shorts where he
- 57:48Speaker 3: bought the house and had on. He did.
- 57:50Speaker 2: That's right.
- 57:50Speaker 1: I forgot what they said, but I forgot.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 57:55Speaker 2: George Pickens doesn't do that.
- 57:56Speaker 1: Like, George Pickens does things that don't make sense, but
- 58:00Speaker 1: J-Mo does things that are outright dumb. Just flat out dumb.
- 58:06Speaker 1: But man, if you had to deal with J-Mo and
- 58:09Speaker 1: George Pickens at the same time.
- 58:12Speaker 3: They might balance each other out. You never know. You
- 58:14Speaker 3: don't know how this chemistry works. You put them in
- 58:16Speaker 3: there and they might be just mellow.
- 58:18Speaker 1: J-Mo, George Pickens, with Jameer Gibbs in the backfield. It'd
- 58:23Speaker 1: be explosive. J-Mo and George Pickens, that's exactly what they
- 58:26Speaker 1: would be.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Explosive.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Did you see... the clip from Amon Ra and the St.
- 58:37Speaker 3: Brown podcast where they were talking to your coach, Dan,
- 58:41Speaker 3: about how he put out a cigarette on Tony Romo's hand.
- 58:48Speaker 3: You ain't seen this one, huh? No. So they were
- 58:52Speaker 3: talking to him and apparently Tony Romo was on part
- 58:55Speaker 3: of my take and he said that when he was
- 58:57Speaker 3: a rookie that he was at a bar and and
- 59:02Speaker 3: everyone really liked Tony and Dan called him over at
- 59:05Speaker 3: the bar and just put out a cigarette on the
- 59:09Speaker 3: back of his hand.
- 59:10Speaker 2: Man, it's good to be white, dog.
- 59:13Speaker 1: You're not becoming a coach after being the dude that
- 59:16Speaker 1: does that.
- 59:17Speaker 2: At least not this kind of coach.
- 59:18Speaker 3: And he said that he and then Amon Ra very
- 59:22Speaker 3: wisely was like, that ain't the first time you did that.
- 59:26Speaker 3: No one does that once. And he was like, yeah,
- 59:28Speaker 3: I would do that to guys. And then he defended
- 59:31Speaker 3: himself by saying, but I do it to myself, too. So,
- 59:39Speaker 3: I say that to say that George Pickens, J-Mo, like,
- 59:46Speaker 3: they might be great head coaches one day. That shit's
- 59:52Speaker 3: just as dumb as anything that they've done. It is. Dumber.
- 59:56Speaker 1: And now I'm saying, guys, I don't know if we
- 59:59Speaker 1: can have all these guys. You can have one knucklehead
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: on the team, but you can't have two. I don't
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: know if the Lions can have two anymore because Dan
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: is one.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: He's a mature knucklehead, but it's still in him. He
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: stopped drinking as much coffee. Wasn't he drinking like two
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: gallons of coffee a day or something? Trying to have
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: a heart attack.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: That's going to be such a wild team, man. Every
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: game is going to be like 50 to 48.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Yep, no defense.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Every single game. They are just going to light this
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: thing up.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: That is.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Dominique Fosworth. We made it to week one, brother. Check
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: him out on the Dominique Fosworth show. Available on all
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: five podcasts. Giving away for free. My brother, I appreciate you.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: I appreciate you, man. All right, Bo.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: Time for a quick America's Team update presented by PrizePix. Detroit,
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: they're taking on New Orleans this upcoming Sunday. What are
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: you expecting from your team this season?
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: All right, so this is going to be an interesting
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: matchup as it is my Detroit team against Ryan's New
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Orleans team. Let me tell you this about Detroit this year. More.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Anytime it comes up and you got a choice more,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: they're going to score a gazillion points. And so is
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: the other team. Maybe the only place you go less
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: is in rushing for the other team, because I don't
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: know why the other team would ever run the ball
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: because you'll be able to throw it on Detroit this year.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Goodness gracious.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, thanks so much for joining us here
