- Trinity Johnston: you know, I'm 19 years old. I still have so much time as well to like like immerse. You're like, hold on, hold on. Mike Winson: You Okay. Huh. Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: I'm I have to process this and I'll tell you why in just a second. Trinity Johnston: Okay. Mike Winson: First off, the amount that you have done in nineteen years is absolutely just amazing. Trinity Johnston: Thank you. Mike Winson: I also need to put out, you are the same age as my daughter. Trinity Johnston: wait, twin. Mike Winson: Hello, everyone, and welcome to Breaking the Meta. My name is Mike Quinson. Today we are sitting down with Trinity Johnston, who is star of shows such as Heartbreak High, Revenge of My First Love, Falling for My Nemesis Stepbrother, Cancel the Wedding, Queen Moves On, and Sex Education by My Best Friend. Hello, Trinity. How are you doing? Trinity Johnston: Hi, I'm doing great today. How are you doing? Mike Winson: I'm doing so good. I keep telling people, people are gonna get bored when they come on the beginning. But the best part of interviewing vertical actresses is reading off the names of their verticals. It's Trinity Johnston: that is so true. Mike Winson: so how are you doing? you you you've been just you've been everywhere doing everything. How are things going for you? Trinity Johnston: Right, no, things are going great. yeah, it's it's been it's been fun. I like when I moved to LA, it was like a big boom of just here you go. Mike Winson: It really was. And I'm not only am excited to talk about the big boom when you hit LA, I'm excited to talk about the big boom before you even got to LA. So that's where I want to start. I want to talk. I want to talk about early, early Trinity. Because you've been doing this for a long, long time. You've been doing this since you were Trinity Johnston: yes. Mike Winson: five years old. When Trinity Johnston: Yes, I have. Mike Winson: when your first role as as Miss Hannigan in Annie. Trinity Johnston: Yes. Mike Winson: Yeah. And then your s Trinity Johnston: Wow. Mike Winson: and then your second role when you got cast for a 14 year old position as an eight year old Trinity Johnston: Yes. Mike Winson: in yeah so okay obviously you loved acting as a kid Trinity Johnston: yeah. yeah. Mike Winson: Is that is that pretty much all you you were you just straight up I want to be an actress from the beginning? Trinity Johnston: Yes. So my mom, fun fact, I'm an only child. So my mom, she would put me in everything under the sun in every activity as a child. So I did Mike Winson: Mm. Okay. Trinity Johnston: a whole ton of sports, a whole ton of the arts, but acting always just stuck with me. So yeah, I remember she put me in theater. That's when I did my miss my Miss Hannigan when I was Annie in Annie, Mike Winson: Yep. Yep. Trinity Johnston: when I was five years old. And yeah, I remember I booked Miss Hannigan and I remember being super, super upset about it because I wanted to be Annie. But the a the girl who's playing Annie was eight years old. So I remember the next year they had another production of Annie that they were doing. So I was like, you know what? I'm gonna fight and work super hard so I can be Annie the next year. So yeah, the next year when I was six years old, I got to play Annie. Mike Winson: Hey, there you go. That's really cool. And and Trinity Johnston: Yes. Mike Winson: The crazy thing about b about you so I I've also interviewed, I don't know if you know Lottie Guidi. Trinity Johnston: well yes, I I've heard of her, a hundred percent. Mike Winson: She, it's funny because her early story actually is similar in the sense of she tried to get into a role that was for like a a 40-year-old at 12. And she got it. Trinity Johnston: Wow Wait, Queen. Mike Winson: But yeah, seriously. And and it you guys both of your stories, I mean, obviously there's a little bit of difference, but it's like both of you are very much like, I'm gonna do it, and you're going out and doing it. And and that is so cool. And you see that as you get older because you you we're we're talking one best actress at an Austin 48 hour film project. one, let's see. Best young adult actress as Mary Lennox in the Secret Garden. You won best leaning per best leading performance in a streaming series for for what we're about to talk about, which is your 2020 pandemic Austin High. Okay, so pandemic Trinity Johnston: Yes, yes. Mike Winson: comes, things shut down, Trinity Johnston: Right. Everything. Mike Winson: and you go. I'm gonna start a series. Trinity Johnston: Yeah, I'm gonna start a series on YouTube because you know, nothing else is happening. And Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: yeah, I have a super, I'm super, super grateful for my family. My family is such big supporters, especially my mom. She was kind of the one who was like, All right, Trinity, you you know, you want to be an actress, you've been getting a whole ton of auditions, and now it's just all cut out. So, what are we gonna do now? We can't just sit around and wait. So, my mom and I did. We put together this idea for this YouTube channel. And I took after some other creators that I I was friends with some other one of my friends had a YouTube channel as a kid. And so I kinda like took some ideas from him at the very beginning and then we just kind of made it our own. And Mike Winson: Wow. Trinity Johnston: so yeah, when nothing was happening, we were like, Well, we have a big group of actors, let's just make a series and just see what happens. Mike Winson: That's that's so crazy. And you did three seasons of it. Was that all in 2020 or did was that expanded over? Trinity Johnston: No, it was yeah, it was spread out a bit. I remember cause in 2020, I think we mostly did little challenge videos and we did Mike Winson: Okay. Trinity Johnston: some fun, hide and seek or whatever, Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: whatever there is. last two challenges. But I think in it's either 2021 or 2022 is when we like really started doing the series of Austin High. And Mike Winson: Gotcha. Trinity Johnston: yeah, it's spread out over a few years because I remember we did Austin High. We didn't know if it was gonna go anywhere. We were just gonna see. What's gonna happen, if anyone's gonna Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: watch it or enjoy it. And people did. People really did enjoy it. So for season two, we actually had a bigger budget and we were able to get more like crew and other actors. Like we flew in one actor from LA. Her name is Annika Rose. Yes, yes. And so yeah, Mike Winson: Really? That's so cool. Trinity Johnston: we we made season two really big and then season three, we kind of simplified it down again and made it more of like a grounding story. but yeah, it it definitely spanned over like a year or two. Yeah. Mike Winson: That's crazy. So what at what point did you did you decide I'm moving to like what was the what was the catalyst for deciding to move to LA? Trinity Johnston: wow, that's a good question. I was, I remember growing up, I've always wanted, you know, to be an actress. Like growing up, it's always been like, I want to be on Disney Channel, you know. Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Trinity Johnston: And then as you get older and then that dream kind of sticks with you, you're like, hold on. Wait, this might turn into a reality. So I think it was really around the age of like, I'd say 13, 14, 15, I would say, Mike Winson: Mm-hmm. Trinity Johnston: like that kind of like middle school age. I really was like, okay, I think I'm gonna like move to LA. After Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: high school, and I'm just gonna go full send. yeah, for acting because my mom was always like, Let's keep her a child, let's not, you know, fly out to Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: LA for pilot season or like really get her because you know, I want her to have that childhood, which I'm Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: extremely grateful for now. so yeah, it was really like growing up, and even in some of my YouTube videos, you can see I'm like, I'm excited to move to LA, you know, and I'm like 14 and I'm like, I can't wait. So yeah, it's always been a it's always been a dream of mine. Mike Winson: So had you had you heard of when when did you actually move to LA? Trinity Johnston: I moved to LA August first of twenty twenty five. Yes. Mike Winson: Of 2025. Okay. Had you seen verticals? Had you heard of verticals before you moved to LA? Trinity Johnston: No. Mike Winson: No. Trinity Johnston: No idea what they were. genuinely have never seen them before. Mike Winson: And and how long after you got to LA was your first ver So okay. How long after you got LA did you start like even auditioning for verticals? And how long after that was your first one? Trinity Johnston: Okay, this is crazy because the timeline is very, very short. Because Mike Winson: Okay. Trinity Johnston: I moved to LA, I would say about two weeks in. I remember I started getting ads actually of verticals. And I was like, what is happening? And so I also had to do my research because the first audition I got for vertical was like two weeks into me moving to LA. Mike Winson: my gosh. Trinity Johnston: I know. And it was for a villain. And I was like, what is this? Because you know, in my mind, I have like, My Disney Channel auditions are very overdramatic. And my TV Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Trinity Johnston: auditions, it's like you have certain categories of how of like the acting style first, Mike Winson: Sure. Trinity Johnston: like based on what you're doing. So I was like, what do I do for these? Like I have no idea. Mike Winson: How do I do a villain? Trinity Johnston: Right. And so I, yeah, it was a villain. And I remember I auditioned for it and I was like, okay, well, it seems very overdramatic. So I'm gonna do it super big, super overdramatic, and like do it like Disney Channel style. I actually ended up booking that one. Mike Winson: Wow. Trinity Johnston: which yes was one for I was about to say candy jar, what? It was for Drama Box. I was like what? It was for Drama Box and it was called the wait, The Wild Ride with the Dangerous Keen. There we go. Yes, and that one was with Mike Winson: Okay. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: Jamison Lee and Evan Adams. That was the first vertical I did. Yeah. Mike Winson: Wow. Wow. Okay. So you done obviously you've done shorts, you've done you've you done a bunch of different things that weren't verticals. What was going through your head when you read your script for for your first vertical? Trinity Johnston: Well man. It was it was it was interesting. It Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: was more okay. When I first read it, I was like, I was like, this is this is fun. Like this is a whole Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: like big script, big story. I was like, this is pretty awesome. When I got on set though, and we started filming, I was like, my goodness, what is happening? Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Trinity Johnston: Cause we filmed, I remember like the first day was a lot of just like my scenes. Mike Winson: Mm-hmm. Trinity Johnston: And so and my character, like it was crazy. I had to like drown, I had to like waterboard the main girl. I had to like slap her, punch her, like scream. And then like I get held at gunpoint by Evan. And then like he's screaming at me. Mike Winson: my gosh. Trinity Johnston: And I was like, what is happening? And then it's like they're just moving like this, like, go, go, go, go. Like, and Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Trinity Johnston: so it would be like, we get two takes. All right, next scene. And I'm like, my, hello? I was like What's happening? everything is going by so fast. I don't know what's happening. So it was crazy. Mike Winson: Yeah. Was it was it hard to to transition to a short or something where you maybe do three or four pages a day to a vertical where you do twenty pages a day? Trinity Johnston: Absolutely. Yes. Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: It was very, very difficult. and it was good because like I was I hadn't like film or I did. I I filmed like a short film right before I left Austin, but I hadn't filmed anything like major, major before I left. So I didn't really have anything to like compare it to. And like everything was new in my life, so I wasn't like, whoa, like this is like really crazy. I was just like, okay, let me get used to this. This pace, Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: this like vibe, like okay, I can I can get used to this, but it was definitely a shock. Mike Winson: Yeah. Yeah. It's it's always interesting seeing because every vertical actress that I've interviewed is probably one of the nicest people that I've ever met. And the it's like when I was talking with your friend Bree Augsburg, you guys are both so nice, I cannot picture you being that mean. And Trinity Johnston: Thank you. Mike Winson: and my brain goes. That must be the hardest thing for you guys to do. Cause I know Bree said it was it was devastating, especially in her most recent one with with was it Haley where she where Trinity Johnston: Yes. Mike Winson: she had to where she was using a a a curling iron on her. I I I I can't Trinity Johnston: Yes. my gosh. Yes. That's right. Mike Winson: imagine what it is like for you guys. Just for me, I would struggle doing it too. Trinity Johnston: Right. I know. It was definitely and it was good because funny thing, growing up, I always was put into the sassy, like with the little bit of bratty energy characters, which is Mike Winson: Yeah. Sure, yeah. Trinity Johnston: really silly. so I kind of just was able to channel that and it's my first mean girl. but I do remember not the wait, yeah. I've only done two mean girls, I'm pretty sure. But the second mean girl that I ever did, it was for cancel the wedding, Queen Moves On. And I do remember that the this is really funny. The like producers had to like on like the third or fourth day had to like sit me down, have a talk with me, and be like, Trinity, like I've we really need you to be more mean. Because right now They're like, right now it's Mike Winson: Ha Trinity Johnston: looking like you're the you're the like nice girl and the main character is mean girl. So we need you to like channel like I'm so sorry. Mike Winson: You're being such a jerk. Trinity Johnston: So sorry guys. It was hard because my character was like super young and Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: she's like in love with the main guy and then she's always apologizing and kinda like so I was like, How am I supposed to be the main girl? You guys Mike Winson: Yeah. And and this is actually this is interesting. And I was gonna talk about this later, but this actually works. So I one of the first things that I saw you in was Heartbreak High Revenge on My First Love. I didn't realize I'd seen it before until I went to watch it again because I never remember the titles or anything, but I started watching it before this and I go, I've seen that. You are a nice girl. And a mean person in the exact same video. And you you did so there's a multiple things we need to talk about on this because that that must have been a rough one to play. Because not only did you have to wear a pregnant suit for like the whole thing, but but you Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: got you got treated really bad for the first like half of maybe not half, but a first large chunk of that of that of that vertical. What was it like what was it like when you when you I I guess when you read the script, when you found out that you were gonna be wearing a pregnant suit the whole day and the stuff that was gonna happen to you and then the stuff you were gonna do to the other people? Trinity Johnston: Right. I mean, that one was just a wild, wild time. I mean Mike Winson: you get kicked you get kicked downstairs as a pregnant woman. What the heck? Trinity Johnston: I know. That's why when you said like, that's the first one I watched, I like, no. I'm so sorry. Mike Winson: I watched others. I've seen others. That was just the first one that came up. Trinity Johnston: Yes. Well, well. So that was an interesting time of my life right there. Because I had just filmed I was just okay, I'm like, I wonder when I accepted yeah. I actually did the okay. I'm trying to Okay. I Timelines, Mike Winson: Timelines. Trinity Johnston: timelines. So I was filming four back to back. So I filmed it was the imperfect Mike Winson: Okay. What? Trinity Johnston: marriage. I know. I know. Mike Winson: How are you standing still? Trinity Johnston: It was great. It was a fun time, but every day I was like Mike Winson: I'm sure it was. I'm sure it was. But y when those four after that fourth one, you must have just slept for a week. Trinity Johnston: Yeah, and guess the fourth one was Heartbreak High. Mike Winson: That was the fourth one? Trinity Johnston: Yeah. Mike Winson: my gosh. Okay. Trinity Johnston: So I did the imperfect marriage, and then Mike Winson: Okay. Trinity Johnston: I did what did I do? the falling for my nemesis stepbrother. And then I remember in between those two, I had one day off. And I got very lucky that one day was my birthday. That one day was my birthday, and my mom flew in and we went to Universal and hung out. But before we hung out on my birthday, I actually had a callback for Heartbreak High. So I Mike Winson: Okay. Trinity Johnston: remember the sides were like crazy where I'm like, no. Baby, it's insane. and then 30 minutes after I got off the call back, and my mom and I were about to head out, I got the email of like, Hey, you booked this role, and I was like, Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: okay, this is awesome. And it was filming right the day after I got back from New York from film with filming the keeping secrets with the rowing captains. I was like, All right, I guess we're doing four in a row. Like, let's let's do Mike Winson: Yeah. my gosh. Trinity Johnston: it. but yeah, so that was why it was so crazy. It was it was it was of like a last minute, all right, like let's let's just do it. But I did read Mike Winson: Do it. Trinity Johnston: the script. Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: full through. So did my mom actually. And I was like, okay, this is gonna be a rough one, but it'll be like I was super excited for the fun challenge. I knew it was gonna be like a a challenge. I knew it was gonna be a challenge. and it was it was fun. Right. Mike Winson: Hmm. Yeah. I think challenge is an understatement, Trinity. That was that was some work that you put into that one. Trinity Johnston: yeah. yeah. It was it was fun. I remember because then I had a while I was in New York, my one off day in New York, I had a director call with with a director and talking about that project. And he was like, Yeah, it's gonna be like very like Carrie vibes where it's like she's getting, you know, beaten, bullied, and you're gonna be able to have to like, you know, portray like that, you know, the intensity of the situation. And then after like she gets her revenge, I was like, okay, you know what? This is gonna be super, super fun. I can't I can't wait for the challenge. So yeah, that's that was my attitude going into it. Mike Winson: Yeah. Well, you you did it. It was it I mean that that change. You went you went from like, okay, I'm getting my revenge and I was like, Trinity Johnston: Yes, thank you. Mike Winson: watch out. so I get I guess the other thing I need to ask is just because it's it's always interesting me. What's it like wearing a a pregnant suit like for like a what a whole week? Yeah. Trinity Johnston: Good question. I so I had two actually. So one of them was like I loved it. I was like, I could keep this on all day. It was just like a little strap. It was like a little pillow that you just like like strap on the back. Yes. Mike Winson: Yeah. okay. So like one that's not showing for like when it when it doesn't have to show. Gotcha. Trinity Johnston: Right, exactly. Because the other one was way too big. Like I remember at the fitting, they were like, I don't know which one we're gonna have to go with because like the silicon one is like extremely large. So we don't even know. I was like, okay. Mike Winson: Yeah. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: But So the s the one that I strapped, it was like a little pillow. I only got Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: to wear it for two days, but it was like that one was great. The Mike Winson: Ha ha ha ha. Trinity Johnston: other one I had to get on by doing this and having the the wardrobe like pull it down Mike Winson: No. Trinity Johnston: and like I had to like squeeze into it and it was absolutely atrocious. Like it was Mike Winson: And taking w how wait, how did you take it back off? Trinity Johnston: I had to roll it. It was, it was, it was impossible. I had to like, I had to like pull it from the bottom and like roll it and like get like it was it was so horrible. It was like skin tight silicon around my entire Mike Winson: What? With the my gosh. That that must have been horrible. Trinity Johnston: body. I was like, So yeah, it was great. It was super fun. Mike Winson: Man. Jeez. So you've done Trinity Johnston: Yes. Mike Winson: you've done many, you've done quite a lot of verticals up until this point. Is there anything that you haven't gotten to do yet that you are like, man, I wish, I wish I got this part or this trope or this anything? Trinity Johnston: Ooh, that is such a good question. There are many, many roles. this is something I want to do. Something I really, really want to do in a vertical is use Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: ASL. I would love to use science grid. Mike Winson: I saw your video of you were doing was it you were cooking doing ASL or something like that? Trinity Johnston: Yes, I was I was doing a get ready with me in ASL. Yes. Yeah. No, Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah, that was it. The get ready with you with ASL. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's cool. Trinity Johnston: so I would love, absolutely love and would do anything to use ASL in a vertical. Mike Winson: That would be super cool actually. Trinity Johnston: Yes, it would be so cool. So I Mike Winson: So Trinity Johnston: would love to hear it like that or I don't know. Mike Winson: How how did you get into ASL? Trinity Johnston: well, so okay. When I was in high school, you have to take a language and Mike Winson: Mm-hmm. Trinity Johnston: my school offered ASL. And I've always I don't know, I've always felt like some right, right? Mike Winson: Really? I guess that's very Austin of them. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: Yes, yes, yes. Yeah, I know, because Austin is like the number two largest deaf community in the US. So it's like, yes. Mike Winson: Really? I didn't know that. I just I just know I know Austin enough to know that that doesn't surprise me that Austin would do something Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: like that. But that's really cool. Trinity Johnston: Yes. So yeah, so I started I remember they had ASL and I've always had this like attraction or just like Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: some kind of gravitational pull towards like Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: ASL, the deaf community, just like Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: something. So yeah, I started taking classes, ASL one. I went all the way to ASL four honors and Mike Winson: That's cool. Trinity Johnston: I was like the leader in like the ASL club. I was you know, I helped kids like eighth graders try to sign up for ASL. and I went to a bunch of deaf events and I hung like I loved my teachers. I would always hang out with my teachers because they were also deaf. and so yeah, I just really got involved with the ASL community. I would go to TSD, which is Texas School of the Deaf, and I would Mike Winson: Okay. Trinity Johnston: go to bunch of events there and I would volunteer and do like, you know, little little things. Mike Winson: That's really cool. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: So yeah, I would I I loved it. Mike Winson: I could definitely see see a way of putting that in a vertical that could totally work. Come on, directors, producers, whoever. if you're watching Trinity Johnston: Yes. Mike Winson: this, put something together. Trinity's waiting. Trinity Johnston: I'm waiting. I'm always available. I got my arms open wide. Yeah. Mike Winson: one of the that's really cool. I the other thing that I I always tell people that I want to see is more strong, powerful women in in verticals and where the man is not also a strong, powerful woman. I want or a man, like just the man or or a strong, powerful woman. You know, either. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna I'm not gonna but Trinity Johnston: Yeah. Mike Winson: but like where the guy is just a plain old, you know, Joe Schmoe, kind of like what happens the other way around all the time. We we need more of that Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: too. Trinity Johnston: I agree. And I feel like there's so many verticals and there's been so many plots and storylines that have been told that you yeah, I'm like, let's let's bring in some new ones. Let's do some new stuff. Yeah. Mike Winson: Bring in some new. And there are there are some the candy jar and a twist and all them. They're starting to they're starting to break the tropes a little bit. They're not they're not quite there yet, but they're definitely they're Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: definitely pushing it a little bit more than than some of the others have in general, which is nice. Trinity Johnston: Yes. I know. I I would love, love, love to do a candy jar one. I some of my friends or a lot of my friends actually have done candy jar ones and I'm like Mike Winson: Candy jar, what the heck? I'm gonna look right at the camera. Candy jar, what the heck? Signer. Jeez. Trinity Johnston: Please I'll do s I'll do anything. Thank you. Mike Winson: Yeah, you're welcome. Glad I could help. Cause yeah, I know all of Candy Jar watches this this podcast right here. I wish that would be really cool. yeah. Trinity Johnston: good, guys, please. Please, please. Yeah. I know they could. Mike Winson: okay, so you're from Texas. Trinity Johnston: Yep. Mike Winson: What what what was your parents' response to your verticals? Trinity Johnston: Wow, that's a wonderful question. So, my mom is like super, super involved in my acting life, especially. Mike Winson: Uh-huh. Trinity Johnston: Also just my normal life, but Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: my acting life as well. So she was the one who did also a bunch of research when I first got like my first vertical audition of like, what are these? Like, what's happening? Mike Winson: Okay. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: She was like, So my mom is like super in she loves them. She's loves it. She watches every single one. Mike Winson: She sh okay. Well you can continue a second, but I need to she watched sex education with by my best friend. Are you s Trinity Johnston: yeah. We have the entire thing. Mike Winson: I watched that one and I'm just thinking about any mom watching that and going, what? Okay, sorry, continue. Trinity Johnston: Yeah, no, no. So she watched all of that. she's Mike Winson: That's amazing. Trinity Johnston: watched every single one that's come out. I do warn her sometimes though, like I'm like, maybe you should skip this part. Like this part's gonna be a little rough. Mike Winson: Yes. Trinity Johnston: but yeah, so she watches all of them. She loves it. She's like she's super supportive. Absolutely. my dad also yeah, I know. she's a hundred percent. Hi, Kelly, I love you. Mike Winson: Yeah. Hi Trinity's Mom, by the way, I'm sure you're watching this right now. Trinity Johnston: she's definitely watching it, don't worry. But My dad also watches them sometimes, but he will he knows. He knows like my mom will either tell him or like he'll be like, all right, I'm leaving for this part. Or like, I'm not gonna watch them. Mike Winson: Yes. Trinity Johnston: So but they're s both super, super supportive. but my dad knows when to leave, which is thank you. Thank you, Dad. Mike Winson: Yeah. Yeah. I I I've you know I've started doing this and I've made friends with you. And it's probably gonna be the same now with you, now that I've interviewed you and and I've learned about you. I'm gonna watch the video and I'm gonna know when the part's gonna come. I don't go, okay, I'm gonna just I'm just I'm just gonna let it go through and then I'm gonna I'm gonna go back to watching it. Not because not because I have an issue with it, but it's you know. I it's not something I want to see my friends doing, no matter what. Trinity Johnston: Exactly. I completely agree because sometimes like I will watch like my friend shows to like support them. Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: And I recently, like, one of my really, really good friends as well is Meg, Meg Bush. Love her so much. And I'm also really good friends. Meg, Mike Winson: Yeah. Meg, if you're watching, come on. Trinity Johnston: love my life. also, I'm really good friends with Noah as well, Noah Andre. Mike Winson: Yeah. Yep. Trinity Johnston: and they both did a candy jar one together. So I was like, wait, this is so cool. Like, I'll watch a few little clips. And I was watching it and I just was like, Okay, never mind. Never mind, never mind. Mike Winson: Watching your two f two really close friends making out and doing yeah. Yes. Trinity Johnston: Yeah, and even just being close and talking seductively, I was like, Never mind, I can't watch this. This is so disturbing. Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah. So that that actually brings up a good good question. So how how much intimacy had you done up before verticals? Trinity Johnston: that's a wonderful question. A good solid zero percent. Mike Winson: Okay, so what what Trinity Johnston: A good zero percent. Mike Winson: what was it like? What was going through your head the first time you had to do intimacy? Cause because they're interesting scenes sometimes. Trinity Johnston: yeah. yeah. my lord was I so nervous. I was so nervous. Because what was funny is like the very first lead I did, I remember the two, it was like more of like a family drama. So I had to like the lead guy. It was kind of it was more like he was like a side, supporting, like kind of he was Mike Winson: Sure. Trinity Johnston: there like to just give more ump to the story. He I remember he'd like kiss me on the cheek, and I was like, I was like. whoa, this is really scary. I've never done this before. So Mike Winson: my gosh. Trinity Johnston: I was like, so, but then the next one I did was The Godfather's Secret Lover with Nick Tuya. Mike Winson: Okay. Yep. Trinity Johnston: And that one just had so much intimacy. And I was so Mike Winson: no, she said. Trinity Johnston: nervous because it was supposed to be like the story was like my character is with my ex's dad. I mean, man was I just absolutely horrified. And I remember the first day we had to do this like pretty intense like intimacy scene. And Yeah, we said Mike Winson: Did you have to do intimacy on the first day again? You're not the you're not you're not the first person that said that. Come on, guys! Don't do that to people. Did you know your lead at all before that either? Trinity Johnston: Okay, I met him at the fitting. I met him at the Mike Winson: That was it? Trinity Johnston: fitting. Mike Winson: No! Trinity Johnston: Okay, but but Nick Puya is like 10 out of 10 most respectful. Mike Winson: Nick Puy is great. Trinity Johnston: my gosh. Like literally the best incredible. Mike Winson: I would he is yeah. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: He is like so respectful, so incredibly patient, will always stick up for you. Like I have nothing, nothing bad to say about Nick Puya. He is incredible. So I Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: got extremely lucky with my first With my first intimacy vertical, having it be him. Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: And yeah, he was just literally set such a good example for like Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: all the other co-stars I had after. I was like, Mike Winson: Heck yeah. Trinity Johnston: So yeah, I was very, very grateful to have him. He is actually incredible. I was extremely nervous though. I was so nervous. I was like, freaking up. Mike Winson: So how is it how has it been going forward? Because again, you've had you've had verticals like sex education by my best friend, which is I mean, that's that's the the whole premise of the entire thing is Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: intimacy in some way, shape or form. Trinity Johnston: Yeah, exactly. So yeah, it's it's gotten thank goodness. It's gotten so much better. Actually, sex Mike Winson: Okay, good. Trinity Johnston: education by my best friend. I remember so I did the one with Nick, who yeah, Mike Winson: Yep. Trinity Johnston: that was my first intimacy one. The other intimacy one I did was also with Nick. And then the Mike Winson: Ooh, okay. Trinity Johnston: third intimacy one I ever did was sex education by my best friend. So hey, it was like, hello new person. but it was that one was also it, thank there wasn't Too much into I I know that there's like, I don't know, there's so many levels. I felt like that one like it wasn't as crazy as it could have been. Mike Winson: No. It yeah. It wasn't it wasn't no, it wasn't intimacy in the sense of some other ones that are out there, but it for someone who's Trinity Johnston: Right. And Mike Winson: who's maybe new to it, it still might be considering it's the premise of the entire thing as opposed to just bits and pieces of it. Trinity Johnston: Absolutely. But what was what saved that one to not have that much intimacy was that the characters had a no kissing rule. So Mike Winson: That's right. Trinity Johnston: then we never had it was like it would be like tension and then never mind, never mind. Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: and but what was funny is that like all we had like really only we had only like three kind of like big intimacy scenes and we filmed all of those on the same day. It was like the fifth day. Mike Winson: my goodness. Trinity Johnston: So so that one that day was a all right, like guys, I can't help me now. Right, right. my gosh. Mike Winson: Ready for a nap. Like like a long nap. Trinity Johnston: Can't wait to go home and go to bed. But Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: yeah, but Cameron was also great. He was great to work with. no complaints, super fun. That one was a super fun script. So like I Mike Winson: Yeah. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: really, really heavily enjoyed that project. So yeah, and then you know. Forward I've just I've gotten more and more comfortable, so it's great. Now it's just like, okay, well we Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: gotta, know. Mike Winson: Which is weird in its own right that that you guys have to actually do that. But so obviously something else that's been just going through the the vertical world is the the joys that is AI. And Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: how how has that how has that affected you moving forward? Cause most I know a lot of people that did not work very much over the summer because of it. Trinity Johnston: Right. so it has affected me about a hundred percent. I Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: have I have had to fully switch what I've been doing on my like my day to day. I used to, you know, I I actually had to withdraw from school in like March because I was filming so much. You know, I did those four back to back and then I just kept looking. Mike Winson: Right. Four back to back. That's right. Trinity Johnston: Right, right. Yeah. So I was filming so much that I like had to stop. And I was like, this Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: is the life. Like this is and then when you're on set, you're just working all the time. that's Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: not you don't think about anything else. So the AI just like made me sit back at home and be like, what is happening? You know, because Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: now I have not as many auditions, not as like definitely I haven't filmed anything in absolutely forever. Mike Winson: Really? Trinity Johnston: yes, yes. Because I also think that the main platform that was like booking me was Drama Box, and now they have gone like full AI. hopefully hopefully they're bringing their there are people back soon. Mike Winson: Yeah, I heard they're doing they're doing some hybrid. They've been talking about some hybrid thing. Green screen. Who loves who doesn't love that? Trinity Johnston: Right, right. Right. Love a good green screen. Mike Winson: Well we get the green screen. Trinity Johnston: But yeah, so you know, but instead of just like a lot of my friends also were affected by it too. I know you talked to Brie probably Mike Winson: Yep. Yep. Trinity Johnston: about it. and then like, you know, just a lot of my friends were affected. And, you know, a lot of them like we've had to find real jobs or we've had to like like I What I started doing is cause I was like, I to find something to do. I need to do something besides just, sitting at home and Mike Winson: Sure. Trinity Johnston: taking, just I was like, what do I do? I can either go down the path of taking a bunch of acting classes and just like doing dance classes and whatever. Or what I decided to do was I was like, you know what? I'm just gonna go. Cause another thing I love playing is volleyball. Mike Winson: Hey. Trinity Johnston: or I love doing is volleyball. And so I was like, you know what? I'm gonna go to just like a fun little community college. I'm gonna play some volleyball, for a school, and I'm gonna take ASL classes to become an interpreter. And Mike Winson: Heck yeah. Trinity Johnston: yeah, and I'm also doing a film and TV acting class. So it's just like I'm just I just filled up my schedule with just random stuff that is helpful and I'm always auditioning on the side as Mike Winson: Right. Trinity Johnston: well. But yeah, it really slowed down from where I was going back to back verticals Mike Winson: Mm-hmm. Trinity Johnston: of just what is happening, or at least, at least twice a month. Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: So now I haven't filmed a lead since June. Late June. Right. I Mike Winson: That's wild. That is wild. I Trinity Johnston: know. And they still haven't come out. I filmed, well, I guess not one of them has come out, but they're both they're both for Drama Box. I filmed two leads and they still haven't come out yet. So I'm like Mike Winson: Yep. I'm sure they'll show up at some point. Trinity Johnston: Yes, yes. I'm pretty sure that one of them is going to come out this month. Please. Mike Winson: Please, please. Trinity Johnston: So yeah, it really, really affected. But I think that Mike Winson: I'm sorry. Trinity Johnston: no, I mean, really, I think that it's good for me, honestly, because I am still young. you know, I'm 19 years old. Mike Winson: But I also want, I also need to put out, you are the same age as my daughter. Trinity Johnston: wait, twin. Mike Winson: Yeah, you probably love her. She she but that's just crazy to me that that Trinity Johnston: Right, right. Mike Winson: I don't feel old, I don't feel old, I don't feel old. Trinity Johnston: No, no, hey, no, it's okay. No, it's it's fine. No, it makes me like, Mike Winson: It is fine. Trinity Johnston: and I remember I was even t talking with Meg. Exactly. Mike Winson: Age is just a number, right, Trinity? Age is just a number. Trinity Johnston: Doesn't matter. Exactly. I know I get on set and I have to like convince these directors or my co-stars, no, I still know what I'm doing. I've been doing Mike Winson: That Trinity Johnston: this for a very long time. I'm not like just some girl that like decided I wanted to act and like here I am. So Mike Winson: Yeah. That's actually an it that's actually an interesting thing though, because it never processed that you were 19. What is it like as a 19 year old to play some of a pregnant person or or just some Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: of these other stuff that you've played that probably no 19 year old ever has actually like well not ever, ever is probably not the right word, but not many 19 year olds have actually experienced most of the situations that you have put yourself in as a like a 19 year old? Trinity Johnston: Right. See, I the thing is is that I've you know I've been acting for such a long time that I feel like I hold myself to this very high standard as well. Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: So like I view myself in the same aspect as everyone else as like, but Mike Winson: Yeah. Sure. Trinity Johnston: yeah, so it's like, you know, it's it's just like it's just a role, it's just a character that you're putting on. So I never like, you know, it it is hard sometimes because I do know that like my character is A lot of my characters are supposed to have more experience in some things that I don't know about or some, or you know, just like stuff that I've never experienced or like Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: really been been through or so that is a little difficult. That's me more having to like, you know, like research or like figure Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah. Trinity Johnston: out like what that feels like or what that means. Mike Winson: Sure. Trinity Johnston: but otherwise what's funny is that all my characters have been like silly little like high school nerds. So I'm like, this is perfect. This is perfect. Mike Winson: That's true. That is true. You you are you are definitely getting pulled into the YA stuff, which probably does help a a a lot. that's just that's just crazy to me. I okay. Trinity Johnston: Right. So yeah. Thank you. Yeah. But no, I I remember I was talking about this actually with Meg. and I was like, because I was like, what is happening I was like, you know, I was I put a lot of pressure on myself. And I remember especially like when the AI stuff was happening, I was like, is it something with me? Is it like Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: my acting or do I need to like, you know, figure out it was like I was just going through like a mental like what is happening? Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: I am like so overwhelmed now because now I'm not working at all. there's n all my job has been taken. all the jobs have been taken by AI. and so I was like because I know that there were still some people who were filming, so I was like, is this like it it's always just like a mind game of like there's something wrong with me or, you know, but Mike Winson: You're talking to a content creator, Trinity. It's it's the world I live in every single day. Especially when you get that video that you think is really good and you get 50 views on and you're like, man, I suck. Trinity Johnston: Right, you're like, it's it's something it has to be something with me. Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: But really it's just I I talked with Meg about it and she it was funny. She said something that really stuck with me, where she said, like Trinity, like you have to struggle a bit. Like you haven't been out here. Thank you. I know. She was Mike Winson: Yeah. You have succeeded a lot. You've done a lot in nineteen years. Trinity Johnston: like she was like, you have to I it's just funny. Like I Meg, I hope you're watching this. But she was like, I remember she said you have to struggle a bit. Like you Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: really just have to like go through it. And learn those lessons. And I was like, my God, you're so right. I need Mike Winson: That's true. Trinity Johnston: to just that's why I was like, you know what? I'm just gonna go to community college, take some ASL classes, yeah, play Mike Winson: That's aw that's awesome. Trinity Johnston: some volleyball, and just keep auditioning. Cause that's really what you have to do as an actor, is you just gotta ride with the wave of what's going on in the industry. So yeah, that was my my whole plan. Mike Winson: Yeah. Yeah. Well Well, I think that's awesome that you're doing that. And you you know I I can say from watching your I s specifically thought while watching your stuff how talented I mean, I think it I obviously I think about a lot, but I definitely was like you, your your facial expressions, the stuff you put out, it it's it there's I can see why you have been as successful as you have been. And you also you Trinity Johnston: Thank you. Mike Winson: also have the really the the right mentality about it, the fact that that you're that things things happened and instead of instead of going what am I gonna do, you said I'm going to do. Like it wasn't like a what, it was just an I am. And that that's a that is a great mentality to have. And I I Trinity Johnston: Thank you. Mike Winson: think it's awesome that I think it's awesome. what you're doing all around. Trinity Johnston: Thank you so much. That means so much to me. And also, I really credit my mom a lot for that mentality as well. Because, Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: at that young age, when COVID happened and nothing was happening, she was like, let's make a YouTube channel. Like, let's start producing our own stuff since nothing else is gonna happen for you. So Mike Winson: Yeah. Yeah. Trinity Johnston: yeah, it's really like, you know, and the industry is always changing. It's like, you know, yeah, COVID. Right. Mike Winson: It really is. And I I think verticals are gonna be changing. I think verticals are gonna be changing. Trinity Johnston: Completely agree. It's like, yeah, COVID happened, and then all the actor and writer strikes, and then Mike Winson: Yep. Trinity Johnston: now AI, and like, you know, even just the new coming age of verticals was like a whole thing with the film industry that was like, what's happening? What are these? So it's just always changing. So just to be able to like have that mindset of just like everything's gonna work out for me. I just need Mike Winson: Absolutely. Trinity Johnston: to keep at it, go with the flow, keep my love for the craft, and you know, just go full speed ahead. Mike Winson: Absolutely. Absolutely. All right. Speed round time. You ready? Easy questions. Easy questions. You don't need to be scared. Easy questions. Trinity Johnston: Hi. Yeah, I'm sorry. Okay. Mike Winson: go to coffee order. Trinity Johnston: vanilla ice latte. Mike Winson: I think that's seventy, fifty percent of the people I've interviewed all say that. So I I think every place is like I think actors just drink vanilla ice lattes. So we're just gonna make sure we make it. Trinity Johnston: I do fear, I do fear. Mike Winson: sweet or savory breakfast. Trinity Johnston: Ooh. Okay, I usually like sweet, but I've been getting more into savory breakfasts. Mike Winson: What what is what is your go to savory? Trinity Johnston: My go-to now is I always like every morning, literally made it this morning, is eggs and toast. Just eggs and toast. Yeah. Thank you. Mike Winson: Eggs and toasts. Just that's very Texas of you. You gotta add some bacon though if you really want to go straight Texas. But beach or mountains. Trinity Johnston: Right yes. Ooh mm no beach. I'll say beach. Beach yeah, yeah. Mike Winson: Okay. Well, you're playing you're playing volleyball now, so that's that's a that's a good place for it. Yeah. go to karaoke song. Trinity Johnston: Exactly, exactly. Pink Pony Club by Chaperon. Pony Club. Yeah. Mike Winson: Pink ponic. I can't sink. We can't sing too much of it. This is YouTube. dogs or cats? Trinity Johnston: Dogs, dogs. But I've been thinking about getting a cat. I know. Mike Winson: Is your f do you have a favorite kind? Ooh. Do you have a favorite kind of dog? Trinity Johnston: German Shepherds are my favorite. Yes. Mike Winson: Nice. Nice. go to comfort food. Trinity Johnston: mm, I s frozen yogurt. Frozen Mike Winson: Frozen yogurt specific flavor. Trinity Johnston: yogurt. I love I mean it depends on the moon. if I want like a chocolatey one, I'll just get like vanilla and chocolate and cake batter. And then if I want like a s a fruit one, I'll get like a yeah, just a bunch of fruit flavors, like peach, ooh, mango, ooh. All those good ones. Mike Winson: last show you binged. Trinity Johnston: or was it? Actually, what's funny about I've been watching Victorious recently. So you know what? Thank you. Thank you. Mike Winson: Really? There you go. Hey. Hey. This is this is a safe space, Trinity. This is a safe. If you want to watch Victoria's, more power to you. Yep. Trinity Johnston: Thank you so much. Mike Winson: morning person or night owl? Yeah. Trinity Johnston: Night owl. Definitely. Mike Winson: is there a food that you refuse to eat? Trinity Johnston: mushrooms. Mm. I know. I've actually been trying to make myself like no, no, please, please. Mike Winson: What it's over. It's over. Put it put hang up. Where's the hang up? Trinity Johnston: No. I've been trying to make myself like mushrooms, but I've probably tried so many times and I actually just can't eat them. They're so gross. Mike Winson: What about it? What about it don't you like? Trinity Johnston: It's the texture and the flavor. So it's just like the whole entire package is just so gross. I can't Mike Winson: You know what? I if we ever if we ever get a chance, the the joy of meeting, I I will make it my mission to make mushrooms in a way that you would enjoy. Trinity Johnston: You know what? I completely accept. I wanna like mushrooms. Mike Winson: Okay. There I think d is most of what you've had raw? Trinity Johnston: No, no, I've had so many different kinds. They're all bad. Mike Winson: Really? Okay. Yeah. Well f I I'm I'm gonna figure out a way. I'm gonna figure out a way to make it happen. favorite Trinity Johnston: Okay. I guess. Mike Winson: season. Trinity Johnston: Fall. my gosh, Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: right now. Mike Winson: Yep. I'm from I'm from Massachusetts, so fall is Trinity Johnston: that's amazing. Well, LA, it's not the best, but you know, that's okay. Mike Winson: Yep. No. Trinity Johnston: It's the same every day. That's okay. Mike Winson: It really is. sweet treat you can't say no to. Trinity Johnston: my gosh. well I was gonna say freshen yoga it again. but I also Mike Winson: it can be that, that's fine. Trinity Johnston: well I also just love like any kind of chocolate. I I have these little like power berries from Trader Joe's and Mike Winson: Okay. Trinity Johnston: they're like covered in dark chocolate. So good. So good. Mike Winson: Yep. Have you tried the True Fru? Those are so good. So amazing. Trinity Johnston: Yes, I have. So amazing. Yes. Completely agree. Mike Winson: dream or real duet or acting partner. Trinity Johnston: my gosh. Like, okay. I would say I would love. I'm trying to think of all of the females I know. Because I know Mike Winson: Ha ha. Trinity Johnston: I I know so many actresses. Mike Winson: Yeah. Trinity Johnston: well actually, I mean if I could just pick one of my friends, like I would love to do like a vertical with like Brie or Ashlyn. Mike Winson: Mm. Trinity Johnston: That would be like so peak. If I could do like three of us all together, that would be the best. Mike Winson: Now would would you all three have to be villains in that? Because I I I think Trinity Johnston: I will do anything. Mike Winson: well I know you would, but I'm just sitting here going, okay, if what if my best friend was having to do some of the things that Brie has had to do to people, that would be weird. I'm not sure how I would be able to handle Trinity Johnston: Right. Mike Winson: that. Trinity Johnston: Do yeah, it's funny. I I'm like, I would love, we could just be all triplets. Totally, totally. Mike Winson: You could. You could totally do that. if you had a free day with zero plans, what would you do? Trinity Johnston: go to Universal. I've been trying to do that, but Mike Winson: Nice. Trinity Johnston: then something comes up and I'm like okay. Yeah. Mike Winson: Yeah, yeah. if you have like an evening at home and you're gonna chill and watch a movie, what movie would you pick? Trinity Johnston: I love like old classic movie. I love a good Mean Girls, the original Mean Girls. Mike Winson: Okay. Trinity Johnston: It's like so comforting to watch. Mike Winson: Okay. Trinity Johnston: for me. Mike Winson: I I have no issue with you liking it all. It's it's just the way you were just mean girls is so comforting to me. Trinity Johnston: Mean girls are just so near and dear. Mike Winson: It it just it just fills my soul. Trinity Johnston: It does. It makes me so happy. I would say, you know, good old mean girls. Good old mean girls vibes. Mike Winson: man. Yeah. Hey, perfect. Hey, whatever. Whatever works for you. Again, I said Trinity Johnston: Thank you. Mike Winson: no no judgment zone here. Trinity Johnston: Amazing.
