- 0:00644 million dollars in premiums did not get tesla insurance into New York. This is MAG 7 Daily,
- 0:07episode 3. At the top of the tape, New York's department of financial services rejected a
- 0:13filing from tesla general insurance that would have covered only tesla vehicles, picked
- 0:18out by VIN. Insurance news net says regulators invoked section 2324 of New York insurance
- 0:25law before anyone reviewed the actuarial case, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence.
- 0:31Of the half-year book, California wrote $477.8 million, Texas $60.4 million, Nevada $23.3
- 0:41million, and Maryland $15 million.
- 0:44S&P says New York itself wrote no direct premium in that stretch, even with Tesla Insurance
- 0:50Company already licensed there.
- 0:52Notebook Check reports Google is now letting Gemini finish the phone call, not just start
- 0:58it in an early preview called Call for Me on Pixel 11, and only in the United States
- 1:03at first.
- 1:04The assistant can check whether a product is in stock, ask for a quote, book a reservation,
- 1:10punch through a phone menu, and sit on hold.
- 1:13It may not place emergency calls or marketing calls, it may not pay, and it may not pass
- 1:19along a card number, a password, or health information.
- 1:23You see the number and the script before it dials.
- 1:26Gemini tells the other person it is your AI assistant and that the call is being recorded.
- 1:31You can read a live transcript, listen, or grab the call.
- 1:36Afterward you get a summary.
- 1:38Transcripts sit on Google's servers, the audio stays on the phone, and Google says neither
- 1:43is used to train its models.
- 1:44This is not the older, agentic calling tool, which since 2025 has made only certain business calls out of search or AI mode.
- 1:53SimplyWall.ST reports that 42 state attorney's general are coordinating a look at Meta's chatbots and agents.
- 2:01They want safeguards enforced through state consumer protection laws and civil rights laws, pass the federal oversight already in place.
- 2:09Geekwire says a Washington State filing names 277 jobs Microsoft cut in the Seattle region.
- 2:1677 of those titles are art, game production, game design, technical art or audio design.
- 2:23Software engineering is the single biggest bucket at 60. 9-5 Mac reports that Apple and Qualcomm
- 2:30renewed their worldwide patent license. The deal they just extended had been due to run out in 2027.
- 2:37A week after Gemini 3.8 live and live extended thinking arrived on September 15, Digital Trends
- 2:44says Google added live avatar, generated video that lip sinks, makes faces, and does not freeze
- 2:51between turns. It stays inside Gemini Enterprise for now, aimed at customer service and walkthroughs,
- 2:58and it covers 97 languages, changing speech, mouth movement, and expression without a restart.
- 3:04companies get a preset library. Approved customers can also spin a custom face
- 3:09from a reference image and keep the likeness, the style, or the character. The face
- 3:15can keep talking while tools run in the background. In the audio and video
- 3:19carry synth ID watermarks. TechRadar says the extended thinking version beat GPT
- 3:25Live 1 Astra and GROC voice think fast 2.0 on multiple benchmarks and still cost
- 3:31less per hour of input audio. Mac rumors says Mac OS Golden Gate is the first Mac system that
- 3:38runs only on Apple Silicon, so Intel Macs remain on Mac OS Tahoe. Bootcamp Assistant is out,
- 3:45because this release does not run on those Intel machines. There is no AFP client, time capsule
- 3:51backups no longer work, and airport utility is no longer part of the install. The upgrade strips
- 3:58Rosetta 2, you can put it back if an app still needs it, and Golden Gate is the last
- 4:02Mac system with full Rosetta support.
- 4:05A warning shows when a Rosetta app launches, and the affected list sits under Settings,
- 4:10General, About, Intel-Based Apps.
- 4:13The Verge says that in lawsuits over alleged harm to teen safety and mental health, meta's
- 4:19lawyers have tried to keep some evidence out as attorney-client privilege.
- 4:23Lawyers on the other side said this week the stamp has been used far too widely and they
- 4:28pointed at a document that was recently unsealed.
- 4:32The Verge also reports employees ordered hats labeled attorney client privilege while
- 4:37those child safety disclosures were being fought.
- 4:40The Verge says Microsoft is retiring the Copilot Plus PC brand about two and a half years after
- 4:46it told buyers those were the machines with enough built-in AI.
- 4:50The report cites Windows Central's Zach Bowden, and it says Microsoft and Qualcomm appear to
- 4:56be treating the name as already dead. The New York rejection cuts against reading Tesla insurance
- 5:02as a bid for the whole market, not against the size of the book. S&P's earlier research put 2025
- 5:09direct written premiums at $1.37 billion, up 40.7% from 970.8 million the year before. Affiliated
- 5:19Tesla insures wrote 75.9% of that business themselves in 2025, against 32.6% in 2024.
- 5:29California was still nearly 70% of 2025 premium volume, at $725 million.
- 5:37Tim Zawaki, who runs financial institutions research at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said
- 5:43the point is not competitive coverage for a broad slice of the market.
- 5:46He said it exists to take a friction point out of selling a Tesla, and that the move into
- 5:52affiliated carriers came partly because some insurers would not ride electric vehicles,
- 5:57or price them higher over repair costs and loss severity.
- 6:01A $10 billion valuation talk now runs across the 7th through a chip that is still early,
- 6:07from Tesla's old Dojo Bench toward Amazon Web Services, with Nvidia on the other order book.
- 6:13The information says Density AI, started a year ago by former Dojo leaders, is in advanced
- 6:19talks to raise hundreds of millions of dollars at that $10 billion valuation, according
- 6:25to two people who know the discussions.
- 6:27Those people describe the chips as early, and potentially years from mass production.
- 6:33The same account says Density AI's leaders told possible investors that Amazon Web Services
- 6:38would buy the eventual chips only if they hit stated performance requirements.
- 6:43Bloomberg reports Elon Musk said Colossus 2, the AI cluster at his XAI business,
- 6:50may more than double its current Nvidia chip count by the end of the year. They share a calendar.
- 6:56Amazon's clause is a buy that triggers only if a new part qualifies. Nvidia's near-term demand
- 7:02is Musk's plan to more than double chips Colossus 2 already runs. Tesla shows up as the company
- 7:08those founders left, not as the buyer. In fall 2027, Apple expects Mac OS 28 to largely drop
- 7:16Rosetta 2, with an exception for some old games nobody maintains. Apple still plans security updates
- 7:22for Intel Macs through fall 2028. Before we go, the nearest date on the sheet is fall 2027,
- 7:29When Mac OS 28 is expected to shut most of Rosetta 2, that's MAG 7 Daily for today.
