- 0:00Dana. Five months from today, I said, five months for today America
- 0:04elections. It's next president. And today we unveil a new way to track
- 0:07what America cares about. And we're going to do it in a kind of
- 0:11a different way. It's called our Issues Track. We're going to explain it
- 0:14right now. Okay, So we introduced it the following way. On the
- 0:17left, you got Joe Biden and blue. On the right, you've got
- 0:20Donald Trump and red. In the middle, you've got margin of air,
- 0:23meaning that a particular issue could go either way, but it's too close to
- 0:26car right, So here we go. Why do these issues matter? Right?
- 0:30They define elections way back in nineteen eighty four. Is about the economy
- 0:34and Reaganomics and Ronald Reagan one twelve years later in nineteen ninety six is about
- 0:39deficits and welfare spending and the size of government, and Bill Clinton won two
- 0:44thousand and four. Is about terrorism and national security. George Bush won his
- 0:48second term likewise for Barack Obama and Obamacare in twenty twelve. So that brings
- 0:52us now to twenty twenty four. What does America care about and who do
- 0:57they believe does a better job when it comes down to the issues. All
- 0:59right, So here we go. Now there's a lot on this screen.
- 1:02Okay, I want you to think about three things. Number One, for
- 1:06Joe Biden on the left here in blue, honesty he rates fifteen points higher
- 1:11than Donald Trump, abortion, twelve points higher. Temperament slightly less than double
- 1:17digits at nine points. There for Donald Trump, where does he rate the
- 1:21highest? Come over here now, twenty one points on age. They see
- 1:26Trump younger, they see him with greater energy, they see him with greater
- 1:30vibrancy. On the border, up eighteen points, all right, on the
- 1:34economy, up fifteen points. On accomplishments, he's at nine points. What
- 1:38does all this mean now, Okay, Well, we're going to find out
- 1:42November. We'll also track this by the month to try and figure out whether
- 1:46not Americans are moving one direction or the other based on the issues that they
- 1:49believe are the most important. Come of November, and the middle values is
- 1:53a toss up bride here, so we'll track that also. Now, if
- 1:56you look at our forecast for the moment, there are four states behind me
- 2:00and yellow. We believe these are the toss up states hous of now you
- 2:05all know about them. Right, Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
- 2:07I will say that we will watch these four states very carefully, but
- 2:12come back to the map here for a moment. Leaning them all right,
- 2:15You're going to hear a lot about Minnesota and a lot about Michigan leaning Republican.
- 2:20You're going to hear a ton about Georgia, and a ton about North
- 2:23Carolina. But right now, these states we consider too close to call.
- 2:27All right, So you got the issues, you got the states, you
- 2:30got this electoral battle that's going to be fought now five months from the day.
- 2:34Let's move on back over here. We'll analyze this and see what we
- 2:37can see what we can glean in between the law and it'll bill and a
- 2:40way to set up. We have Kelle mcnenny cos about number here to help
- 2:44talk about it. And I think that our team has put together something that's
- 2:46super useful because Kayla, you can look here on call for one is the
- 2:51power ranking tossups of Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. These are
- 2:54the pure tossups, right, so we're all going to be talking a lot
- 2:58about these places. But then with this added layer of the issues tracker called
- 3:02four number four. If you look here, this just helps you understand where
- 3:07are people feeling, like, what issues matter the most? And I feel
- 3:09like this adds a layer of importance and complexity to what is a key election
- 3:15mictric. Without a doubt, I mean, this is I think the only
- 3:19tracker of its kind currently and fascinating because what you see is President Trump leading
- 3:23on the issues that matter to American vice the economy, immigration, and just
- 3:28to underscore immigration in particular, Gallup looked at the last three months and the
- 3:32top issue Gallup issues of importance was immigration. They said, in the twenty
- 3:37four year history of taking this poll, immigration has never led for three months
- 3:42straight. Now it was knocked down to number two and the latest issues of
- 3:45importance. But it just underscores what we're seeing in our own Fox News analysis.
- 3:47Immigration's huge, economy is huge. Trump is leading on both. Yeah,
- 3:51there's a reason why you're doing an executive order twenty threes days away from
- 3:54debate number one. Okay, another topic here. At a fundraiser in Greenwish,
- 3:59connetic the President said this, for the first time in American history,
- 4:02a former president that is a convicted felon is now seeking the office the presidency.
- 4:08Then he says, something snapped in this guy for real after twenty twenty.
- 4:12It's literally driving him crazy. When I read this, I believe these
- 4:15were prepared remarks. Yes, these weren't just off the coff So this was
- 4:19done with intent. And just quickly show the fundraising numbers for May one hundred
- 4:24and forty one for Trump. We don't yet have the DNC and the Biden
- 4:27numbers. When we get them, we'll share them with you. So quickly
- 4:30on the fundraising. The fifty three million that was pulled in in the twenty
- 4:33four hours after the guilty verdict. To put this into context, that's more
- 4:38than Biden and the DNC raised in all of April. To put this in
- 4:41the context, the highest fundraising day for Act Blue in twenty twenty two with
- 4:44the Dobbs decision, that was less than half of what Trump raised twenty four
- 4:46hours. That was twenty million dollars. Kamala Harris when she was named vice
- 4:50president four years ago twenty six million was brought in. So this is a
- 4:56huge, huge number. But to Biden in those remarks, it was closed
- 5:00door and I'm going to be fascinated if he takes a lean in or stay
- 5:03out approach. Campaigns leaning in, there's no doubt they fundraise off of convicted
- 5:06felon. But Biden did this behind closed doors. Will he debut this argument
- 5:11in front of cameras or will he leave that to his campaign operation save his
- 5:15doors, his remarks for closed door fundraising? What will he do on the
- 5:17debate stage? I think the stayout approach is better. He takes the high
- 5:20road. In his view, the high road campaign goes after all? Right,
- 5:24Kayley, love having you, Thank you, Thank you so much of
- 5:27you much. If you want more politics, check out the latest episode of
- 5:29Perena on Politics. My guest was Republican strategist Colin red. You can scand

- 5:42YouTube page to catch our hottest interviews and most compelling analysis. Man, are
- 5:50you supporting the Center of Independent New Jersey? Look? The primary is today?
- 5:58Not even going to comment at this point leadership work. Don you think
- 6:00that Democrats have a problem with the southern border and messaging? Ahead of twenty
- 6:03twenty four. I mean, Republicans have said that this is basically a charade
- 6:08by the Bide administration, this executive action. Look, the bottom line is
- 6:11that we all know what happened. Democrats supported a strong bipartisan bill. Republicans
- 6:18initially said this a very strong good bill, and then they turned around one
- 6:23hundred and eighty degrees when Donald Trump was very explicit he wanted the bill to
- 6:27fail to create chaos at the borders. Our preference is to have the Republicans
- 6:34join with us and support a strong bipartisan piece of legislation. Yes, after
- 6:42the Trump guilty verdict of Manhattan, some of your Republican colleagues are for around
- 6:45terms like kangaroo court, weaponization of justice. Just do you have any concerns
- 6:51about what things will look like after the election from other people who'll accept the
- 6:55results of the election. Look, it was the jury has spoken in a
- 6:59process that jurors used throughout America, and Donald Trump has proven to be a
- 7:04felon, a convicted felon. Yes, Supreme work film I'm talking to.
- 7:15Look. First, Justice Roberts has been, in my opinion, not lived
- 7:18up to his responsibilities as Chief Justice. On issue after issue, He's supposed
- 7:24to be the guardian of the Court's fairness and opinion, but on something near
- 7:28and dear to me, which is forum shopping, on ethics, on recusal.
- 7:32So Senator Durbin and I in the judiciary of this committee, are discussing
- 7:36the best ways to move forward. Yes, are you going to try to
- 7:41meet with Speaker Johnson and try to negotiate some type of deal on border legislation.
- 7:46Look, as I said, the Republicans turned down by part is in
- 7:49border legislation that they had already agreed to. They are to change their minds
- 7:55and support our bill. If not. President Biden has moved forward because he
- 8:01prefers legislation. We prefer a legislation. The Republicans are blocking it, and
- 8:05so Biden is moving forward. Yes, look, I support the tax Kurt
- 8:18bill. It has a lot of good things in it. But we right
- 8:22now Senator crete Bow and a lot of the Republicans are opposing it. We
- 8:24hope they'll change their minds. Thank you everybody in the States. Hunter Biden
- 8:33remains in court multiple charges, all in and around a gun that he should
- 8:37have admitted that he was not supposed to have. Why because of a series
- 8:41of mental health issues that came as a result of drug abuse. But you
- 8:46may remember that at the height of the twenty twenty election, we were not
- 8:50allowed, allegedly to tell you about the existence of a laptop one that apparently
- 8:54had been left by Hunter Biden that explained not just his drug use but also
- 8:58you know, the big guy, all the payments and the rest of it.
- 9:01It was referred at the time by intelligence officials as Russian disinformation. Well
- 9:05guess what was produced today literally as evidence in the case against Hunter Biden in
- 9:11court. Yep, the laptop that apparently never existed. Opening Stevens today in
- 9:18the trial of President Biden's son Hunter on federal gun charges, the prosecution telling
- 9:24jurors he lied about his drug use on a government background check to buy a
- 9:28gun, and they introduced evidence from his laptop. You mean it was always
- 9:35true, Weld on the Miranda Devine and the New York Post who never never
- 9:39gave up on the reality of that laptop. Funnily enough, though, the
- 9:43other evidence it's on the laptop not to be used for anything, just this
- 9:46one thing in relation to the gun charge. As for the fight between Hunter's
- 9:52father and Donald Trump for the presidency, coming up in November. The next
- 9:54big event is going to be the debate, which will take place towards the
- 9:58end of this this month. It'll be on CNN for coverage here in the
- 10:01lead up and post here on Sky News. I wanted to show you the
- 10:05latest polls though. These are the ones that have happened after the court case.
- 10:09But there are not many that have happened after the court case, So
- 10:11these numbers may bounce around. But Trump nationally forty one thirty nine, and
- 10:16because Kennedy is writing at the best part of ten percent, there has not
- 10:20been a big change in the overall mix. Remember that's the national picture of
- 10:24fifty states. Well, what about the seven states that most matter? Again,
- 10:28the most recent poll these that have been dated in the past seven days.
- 10:33So Trump winning in Arizona, in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North
- 10:39Carolina, and Georgia. If that all comes true, he gets to two
- 10:43seventy votes, nice and easy. Nevada, which previously people had said was
- 10:48in Trump's column by five points, is now back to a tie. Now
- 10:50Wisconsin would be expected to go back to a tie as well, so it
- 10:54is getting tighter. But if the numbers aren't moving even after the court case.
- 11:01That will be fascinating to see. Independents, however, have said supposedly
- 11:05by a significant number of about six out of ten, that they would think
- 11:09very strongly about voting for Biden because Trump is now a convicted felon. Of
- 11:15course, he will hope to appeal that, but that will not be done
- 11:16before the next election. But perhaps the reason why the number is not really
- 11:20moving back Biden's way is because of what is the top issue for voters.
- 11:26Well, of course it's course of blooming and the economy. But the number
- 11:28two and clearly number two issue that is driving people all around the country is
- 11:35it was just one percent of voters who said that it ranked fifteenth on the
- 11:39list of most important problems in the United States. Look at where we are
- 11:43today May of twenty twenty four, the last Paul Conductor by galp it's up
- 11:48to eighteen percent. And who do they trust on the issue? Because back
- 11:54in June of twenty twenty Biden was actually trusted more on the question of border
- 11:58security and immigration by a single point. Look at where we are in May
- 12:03of twenty twenty four. My goodness, gracious, look at this huge jump
- 12:07that Donald Trump has gotten. He is now ahead on this issue by twenty
- 12:11seven percentage points. So it's not just that immigration is more at the top
- 12:15of voter's minds than it was four years ago. It's that who they trust
- 12:18on the issue has trained tremendously. So Joe Biden today I picked up the
- 12:22same pen that he used to reverse many of the Trump border decisions and put
- 12:26many of them back, not all of them back. And apparently, of
- 12:30course it will only kicking win. Two and a half thousand people have passed
- 12:35eight and every day. That means nine hundred and twelve and a half thousand
- 12:37people will be allowed to cross the border, and then his rules will kick
- 12:41in, something that reporters who've been watching the southern border for years say is
- 12:46going to be a problem. You have to focus on the true details here.
- 12:52Yes, he is going to limit and restrict asylum to some people who
- 12:56cross the border illegally in between ports of entry, but he's I'm going to
- 13:00continue bringing in tens of thousands of migrants per month using this CBP one app
- 13:05and flying them into the country via these parole flights. So the illegal crossing
- 13:11numbers may go down a little bit, but he's bringing more people into the
- 13:13country through quote unquote lawful pathways, which are just programs he's created at the
- 13:18executive level. Guys. So he says he'll slam the door if on anyone
- 13:24die two and a half thousand people cross the border illegally, that of course
- 13:28will turn out to be three point six medium people should he be re elected
- 13:31over the next four years. And he's scullping it from the lift, who
- 13:35of course the weakest part of the Democratic vice at the moment, because of
- 13:39what's happening in Gaza. He's going Trump. I think the President could have
- 13:45handled this differently. I've told him that directly, and I think that we
- 13:48have to lean in as Democrats to an inclusive vision of immigration, and we
- 13:54really have to make continue to point out all the differences that we have with
- 14:00Donald Trump, who is theenophobic racist, has said terrible things about immigrants.
- 14:03I know that is not who President Biden is, but using the same tools
- 14:09that Donald Trump used is actually a big problem for Democrats to be able to
- 14:15continue to show those differences and keep our base with us nothing to say here.
- 14:20Donald Trump is officially a convicted felon, and while the possibility of jail
- 14:26time would scare most people. This conviction could turn out to be the best
- 14:31thing to happen to Donald Trump's election chances. Sky News All Stars reader Panehee,
- 14:37James Morrow, and Denika Di Giorgio take a look at whether Donald Trump's
- 14:41conviction has helped or hindered his presidential campaign. Donald Trump has had an eventful
- 14:58week, even by Trumps standards. He was found guilty of all thirty four
- 15:03felony counts in his hush money trial by a New York City jury, with
- 15:07his sentence to be handed down on June eleven. But instead of scaring his
- 15:13loyal fan base off, the latest hurtle has only galvanized them, strengthening their
- 15:18resolve to get Trump into the White House, which is making Democrats very nervous.
- 15:26Eric Trump revealed that the campaign received over two hundred million dollars in donations
- 15:31since the conviction was handed down. This might be a little inside information,
- 15:35but as I was leaving my house about thirty seven seconds ago, I asked
- 15:37my wife what are we up to now? And she said, just in
- 15:41terms of small dollar were well over seventy million dollars. This is twenty one
- 15:45dollar donations forty three dollars donations, right, small dollar donations. If you
- 15:48add the large dollar donations to it, you're over two hundred million. But
- 15:52you're over seventy million dollars. And by the way, Maria, thirty percent
- 15:56of those people had never been seen before by a political already. Right.
- 16:00I mean, these are Americans who are pissed off. They're coming out of
- 16:03the woodwork, and they want to support a guy that they just believe is
- 16:07getting bamboozled by a system. And we saw it with impeachment one, we
- 16:11saw it with impeachment two. We see it where they weaponize every liberal DA
- 16:15and AG across the country with one intent to take him down, to slander
- 16:21him, to ruin his reputation, to try and divide his family, to
- 16:23try and bankrupt him, to throw him in jail, to do whatever the
- 16:26hell they can do. And America sees through it. They know exactly what's
- 16:30going on. In addition to the monetary support, Donald Trump was given a
- 16:34rock star reception at the UFC over the weekend, further cementing the reality that
- 16:40his fans aren't going anywhere. Reveals Sky News ulstar de Nika de Giorgio,
- 16:45but it's quite interesting to see now how America has been reacting to this verdict.
- 16:49Now, Donald Trump, this afternoon he went to a UFC fight.
- 16:53Just have a look at the reception that he got. He's in the building,
- 17:00in the born of presence, any extending o versial ways, the realm
- 17:03of applies he's getting right now. It's pretty staggering. And you had to
- 17:07have imagined that's all was going to happen. Now that is an entire arena
- 17:14full of people all giving Donald Trump a standing ovation, and it makes you
- 17:18think he's always had an ironclad base, James, we know this. His
- 17:22supporters have stood by him from the very beginning all of his legal battles.
- 17:26They've said nothing more than a witch hunt. But that in itself just proves
- 17:30I haven't deserted him despite this conviction. That they are rooting for him no
- 17:33matter what. And the reason they're rooting for him is because they know that
- 17:37they are the kind of people the Democrats despise, and they understand the attack
- 17:41on Trump is not so much an attack on Trump, it's an attack on
- 17:45Middle America, whom the Democrats hate. And so that's why they're for Trump,
- 17:48regardless of what you think about Trump. He's crasts, he's boorish,
- 17:52he's all of those things. But he represents the average American whom we know
- 17:56the Democrats just despise. This was again seen at the Bronx rally, where
- 18:02tens of thousands of ordinary blue state New Yorkers came out to proudly support Trump,
- 18:07says Sky News all star James Morrow. But also last week we did
- 18:11see the extraordinary scenes out of the Bronx where Donald Trump went and tens of
- 18:18thousands of people, ordinary New Yorkers, you know, black, Hispanics agents
- 18:22showed up in their numbers to support Trump. So is there a chance that
- 18:26maybe part of New York is actually on Trump's side here in this one?
- 18:32Well, absolutely. I grew up in South Brooklyn, that's a very red
- 18:37Republican area. I grew up in a very immigrant heavy area. Immigrants tend
- 18:41to be conservatives. So these are absolutely New York voters who are voting for
- 18:48Trump. And he got a large you know, even when you just look
- 18:51at the numbers, he got like thirty percent of the vote in New York
- 18:53last time, maybe a little bit higher than that. And that's a significant
- 18:56number of people even though obviously that doesn't I knew the state, so it
- 19:00becomes interesting to watch what he ended up doing in the Bronx and how many
- 19:07people did show up for him. The real interesting thing to me there isn't
- 19:11that there's so many people voting for Trump again, I think just numbers wise,
- 19:15they were always Trump voters in New York. We just don't really hear
- 19:18from them. The thing was that they were doing it in public, with
- 19:21the Maga hat on in the Bronx saying, I don't care who recognizes me,
- 19:25I don't care who goes to my boss, I don't care which Karen
- 19:27sees me on TV. I'm going to support this man. So it's a
- 19:32bit that was very encouraging to see that they weren't afraid anymore. And Scott
- 19:37News Allstar and Realise Nielsen agrees, saying that conviction has only strengthened Republican love
- 19:42for Trump whilst also strengthening Democratic hate for the former president in America Right now,
- 19:48are people really believing that this case on esoteric bookkeeping charges would have been
- 19:53brought had the defendant's name not been Donald J. Trump candidate for president?
- 20:00Don't forget as well before this. His predecessor wouldn't bring this case, and
- 20:04they had to pick up a bit of novel law that hasn't been used before.
- 20:08So it's a bit of an interpretation there to say that they just followed
- 20:15the law. No, they really worked at getting this done, which is
- 20:18their right as a prosecutor. Sure, these are laws that are on the
- 20:22books, but they had to try something new to get this done. And
- 20:25so I think a lot of people across America, and the polls are reflecting
- 20:29this, aren't convinced that they have changed their mind because of this. So
- 20:33what we're seeing is people who were voting Republican anyway are now more supportive of
- 20:37Donald Trump. People who were voting Democrat anyway more hated even more than they
- 20:44did before. And so really there's just the small fraction of independent voters and
- 20:48there's still not a clear cut decision of how this is going to impact them
- 20:52down the road. And I think too, we're talking about just being five
- 20:56months out away from the election, but that's a long time for the rest
- 20:59of the world who doesn't follow politics day today, who have very cemented ideas
- 21:03about both of the leaders, whether they like them or not. Is one
- 21:07thing but people have their opinions of them. Is the set is the real
- 21:11point be looked at here? Former Trump senior advisor Christian Whiteon ads even black
- 21:17and Latino voters have sympathy for Trump after seeing the weaponization of the legal system
- 21:22against him. Do you think that voters though, I mean in the Trump
- 21:26camp and their discussions about going forward this badge, they're going to hang this?
- 21:30You know, Donald Trump is a felon badge on the former president as
- 21:34he campaigns now, clearly he doesn't think this is going to hurt him,
- 21:38and in fact it may help him. But is there a danger at all
- 21:41that some people will look at this and say, well, Trump's got these
- 21:45troubles. Biden is a mess for a whole number of other reasons, but
- 21:51we're just going to wind up staying home. Is there a turnout issue that
- 21:55you're concerned about here? An enthusiasm gap, not an enthusiasm gap. There
- 22:02were polls that were taken sort of generically before if there were a candidate who
- 22:06were convicted felon, would you be less likely to vote for him? And
- 22:10more? And people did say yes, they would be less likely to vote.
- 22:12However, now that you're into a specific case of Trump being convicted of
- 22:18these very difficult to understand fraud charges convictions. Now, I don't think you'll
- 22:26have that effect, and in fact, the base, I think will be
- 22:30very, very fired up, and also the new voters that Donald Trump has
- 22:34had success in bringing into the Republican fold, especially Blacks and Latinos. Certainly
- 22:41within the black community, there is a current of injustice and of reaction to
- 22:47that, and in that case, you may have more black sympathy for Donald
- 22:52Trump and seeing that he has been persecuted and had the judicial system used against
- 22:57him. Even the Biden administration strategy of rolling out star power is working against
- 23:03them. Following Hollywood actor Robert de Niro's unhinged outburst outside the court in New
- 23:08York City, says sky News all Star Rita Panihy, My word, we
- 23:14had a lefty loser in spectacular fashion outside of Manhattan court room this week,
- 23:19just a couple of days before the verdict in the third world style Banana Republic
- 23:23Trump Show trial. Yes, there is our broken old lefty wearing a mask
- 23:27outdoors. Naturally, it's none other than Robert de Niro, who decided to
- 23:33prove to the world that he is suffering from an acute case of Trump derangement
- 23:37syndrome. I don't mean to scare you. No, no, wait,
- 23:42maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House,
- 23:47you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted, and
- 23:52elections forget about it. That's over, that's done. If he gets in,
- 23:56I can tell you right now, he will never leave. He will
- 24:03never leave. You know that he will never leave. Here you go.
- 24:11If Trump wins later this year, it will be the end of democracy,
- 24:15the end of elections. Trump will be a dictator, you know, the
- 24:19type of tyrant that persecutes his political opponents on trumped up charges and tries to
- 24:25bankrupt them and put them in prison. Oh wait, that's the current guy.
- 24:30Denika de Giorgio agreed, saying that Democrats would be extremely concerned looking at
- 24:34the vision of huge Trump crowd support over the weekend. Well, you would
- 24:38think that Joe Biden's camp, if they were to look at this vision,
- 24:41they would be extremely concerned by this because they're probably thinking to themselves, Oh,
- 24:45it's over, Like he's lost all over his supporters. They're going to
- 24:48flip the switch somehow, but I think you'd be quite worried. But in
- 24:52the end, when we look at that case altogether, it was very convoluted.
- 24:55If you look at the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, he even said
- 24:59that he used a law that hasn't been used before just to get Trump's conviction,
- 25:03which is extraordinary. So realistically, Donald Trump didn't stand a chance from
- 25:07the very beginning, of course not but I mean the response of the crowd
- 25:11at the UFC. That's why they had to go after him and use legal
- 25:15contortions to try to throw Trump out of the race, because they know how
- 25:19popular he is. If Joe Biden's eighty one million Americans, if he's that
- 25:25popular, yeah, why are they going to such extreme lengths to try and
- 25:29remove Trump? And it seems Trump's conviction is having the desired effect, with
- 25:33Analyse Nielsen confirming Donald Trump is polling ahead of Joe Biden. Donald Trump is
- 25:40polling ahead of Joe Biden at the moment. Once he becomes president presumptive,
- 25:45if that's what happens or President elects, it's a completely different ballgame and no
- 25:49one's really going to know how to deal with this. And quite likely these
- 25:52were just awful. By the wayside. What impact do you think this will
- 25:56have on Trump's campaign to the White House? It doesn't to have heard him
- 26:00yet. There's nothing to stop Donald Trump running for president as a felon.
- 26:04He can run it from a jail cell if that happens. He can win
- 26:08from a jail cell if that were to happen. And if anything, it
- 26:11emboldens his followers because he's been saying I'm being persecuted and they're coming after me
- 26:18and your next Joe Manchin, Senator, thank you so much for joining us.
- 26:26As you know, President Biden is using the same authority that Trump attempted
- 26:30to use to shut off access to asylum for migrants who crossed the southern border
- 26:37illegally. You believe this is the right move for President Biden. Absolutely.
- 26:41I've been encouraging this since last October. The border is the most serious crisis
- 26:47that we face as far as I'm concerned. Right now, we have people
- 26:51coming in to our country that haven't been vetted. We don't know what their
- 26:53purpose is, and we know that there's a lot of illicit trade this coming
- 26:57also, So this is something that had to be done. It should have
- 27:00been done sooner, But I'm happy it's done now. I support the President
- 27:04for doing this, and if all those who have disagreements, whether it's not
- 27:08enough or too much, then you should sit down in earnest and try to
- 27:11work through it. That's the problem with Washington. Nobody wants to work to
- 27:15find a common answer to a very common problem. The Trump campaign and the
- 27:21Republican National Committee are slamming the new executive action, saying the action taken today
- 27:26won't fix anything. Do they have a point? Is this more about scoring
- 27:30political points than actually addressing the situation at the border. Well, it absolutely
- 27:37addresses it. Basically, it stops all illegal entries between the ports of entry.
- 27:41The ports of entry now will all be vetted. There won't be anyone
- 27:44catch and release, no more paroles from that standpoint. So we're stopping a
- 27:48lot of the things. So much more needs to be done. But you've
- 27:51got to stop this absolutely uncontrolled migration coming in anywhere. They want to just
- 27:55to go up to that and turn themselves in, they'll be turned away now
- 27:59they come to a port of entry. If we hit the maximum that we
- 28:00can't vet. Don't know who you are. That stops everything, SUTs down
- 28:04so I think it absolutely does help us get control of this border to an
- 28:08extent that at least we know who's coming and what the purpose, and if
- 28:12they have any criminal record behind them, we'd have known that before. This
- 28:15is long overdue, and I'm glad it happened. In March, Senator,
- 28:19I asked you what it would take for you to endorse President Biden. Let
- 28:23me play that brief exchange we had listen to this. What does President Biden
- 28:29need to do to publicly and formally win your endorsement. Well, we have
- 28:32an energy security Okay, we have to get the border security, the greatest
- 28:34threat we face right now. I've encouraged the President to do basically a national
- 28:41emergency. You have to have legal immigration, but you cannot allow immigration,
- 28:45illegal immigration taking over your border. He has to step forward on that and
- 28:49strongly. So is this the kind of strong action on the border that you
- 28:55said President Biden needed to do when we spoke back in March. Are you
- 28:59now ready, Senator, to make that endorsement. Let's just say that it
- 29:03helps tremendously. But we still have energy security. I'm fighting that every day
- 29:07to make sure that we have the energy in this country to be able to
- 29:10run our economy, defend ourselves, and help our allies. Also more things
- 29:15that we can go into. But the greatest concern that I'm having now is
- 29:18the dead of the nation. Thirty four point sixty six trillion dollars and no
- 29:22one's doing anything about this, and it's going to cause great havy. We
- 29:26have for the first time, it looks as if we will spend more on
- 29:30the interest on our debt than what it takes to defend our country. So
- 29:33it cannot be success. We're moving in the right direction. What else,
- 29:37What else will it take for you to endorse President Biden. Well, we're
- 29:41moving in the right direction. Let me just say this, this is a
- 29:45big step in the right direction. Let's just make sure that we have more
- 29:48of it. I Trump's criminal conviction, your friend and colleague, Republican Senator
- 29:52Susan Collins of Maine said this about the verdict that I'm quoting her now.
- 29:56The district attorney who campaigned on a I missed to prosecute Donald Trump brought these
- 30:02charges precisely because of who the defendant was, rather than because of any specified
- 30:07criminal conduct. Senator, do you agree with her that Trump was prosecuted because
- 30:14of who he is. Well, I guess you could say that Hunter Biden
- 30:18has been prosecuted because of who he is. I hear so much of this,
- 30:21and my main concern is the rule of law makes us different. Anywhere
- 30:25else in the world. People have different venues for correction. And if President
- 30:30Trump is he's been misjudged and misaligned. He trusts me. President Trump is
- 30:36not going to spend one day incarcerated. I can assure you He's going to
- 30:40be on the ballot. You have a chance to vote for or against him,
- 30:44and he has different venues. Only in America, only with the rule
- 30:47of law do you have a way through the process of our judicial system to
- 30:52correct the wrong that might have been done. So it has a long way
- 30:56to go. Everyone's jumping right now, misaligning this thing. I'm thankful for
- 31:00the rule of law we have. I want to make sure that we protect
- 31:04the judicial system and not to be allowed, not allow it to be weaponized.
- 31:10Both sides maybe want to weaponize this. It can't be done. I
- 31:14believe that Merrick Garland is trying to do his absolute best to be non partial
- 31:18on this. If that was the case, then how can you say well,
- 31:22it was against the Trumps, but as protecting the Bidens, I don't
- 31:26think so. I think on either side they can basically think because of who
- 31:30they are and their last names as why they might have been brought to this
- 31:33situation that they're in right today, Senator, as you know, President Biden
- 31:37slammed Donald Trump as a quote convicted felon over at a fundraiser, telling donors
- 31:42his predecessor snapped his words snapped after losing the twenty twenty election. Is focusing
- 31:48on Trump's conviction the best way to defeat him? Absolutely not. I think
- 31:53because he has venues, he might be as honerated, it might be alli
- 31:57pillot, and it might be thrown out. So why would we be jumping
- 32:00to conclusions? So I think that's the wrong. The bottom line is,
- 32:04let's these two men are going to be on the ballot. They're going to
- 32:07go to the final November fifth election, and the character of who you would
- 32:12want to be and setting in that seat is going to be determined at that
- 32:15time you make your decision. But using all of these other things, start
- 32:17talking about the problems the border. Is this going to fix the border?
- 32:22Absolutely not? Is it going to help control the border. Absolutely, can
- 32:25we do something? What's our job as a Senator and also as congress people.
- 32:30Shouldn't we be looking at the long game of how do we fix things?
- 32:34Are we just using everything as a prop for the next election. That's
- 32:37why I got so frustrated. I couldn't take it no more. I didn't
- 32:39want to be part of this process and the political parties continue to make you
- 32:44pick a side and drive us apart. I'm going to do everything in my
- 32:46power the six months i'm here and for the rest of my involvement in the
- 32:51politics in this great country is to bring the country together, the reasonable,
- 32:54responsible middle woo. They have to understand the power they have, start determining
- 33:00and demanding more from the people you send here. Open up the primary processes
- 33:05in your states to get better selection and better candidates involved. Senator Manchin,
- 33:09thanks so much for joining us. We of course will walk you back to
- 33:12continue this conversation down the road. So much is going on. Appreciate it
- 33:16very well, you will thank you. Good to be with you as well.
- 33:19Crooked Joe Biden, the worst president in the history of our country by
- 33:22far, has totally surrendered our southern border. His weakness and extremism have resulted
- 33:29in a border invasion like we have never seen before. Other countries have emptied
- 33:32out their prisons and sane asylums and mental institutions and sent us drug dealers,
- 33:38human traffickers, and terrorists. Millions of people have poured into our country.
- 33:43And now, after nearly four years of his failed week leadership, pathetic leadership,
- 33:49crooked, Joe Biden is pretending to finally do something about the border,
- 33:53but in fact it's all about show because he knows we have a debate coming
- 33:59up in three weeks. Today, I'm moving past republic instruction and using the
- 34:02executive authorities available to me as president to do what I can on my own
- 34:07to address the border. Frankly, I would have preferred to address this issue
- 34:13through bipartisan legislation, because that's the only way to actually get the kind of
- 34:17system we have now that's broken fixed. The truth is that Joe Biden's executive
- 34:22order won't stop the invasion. It's weak and it's pathetic. It will actually
- 34:27make the invasion worse. Today, I'm announcing actions to bar migrants who cross
- 34:34our southern border unlawfully from receiving asylum. Migrants will be restricted from receiving asylum
- 34:40at our southern border unless they seek it after entering through an established, lawful
- 34:45process, and those who seek come to the United States legally, for example,
- 34:51by making an appointment and coming to a port of entry, asylum will
- 34:53still be available to them, still available, But if an individual chooses not
- 34:58to use our legal path, if they choose to come without permission and against
- 35:02the law, they'll be restricted from receiving an asylum and staying in the United
- 35:07States. This action will help us gain control of our border restore order to
- 35:13the process. This ban will remain in place until the number of people trying
- 35:17to enter illegally is reduced to the level that our system can effectively manage.
- 35:22Will carry out this order consistent with all responsibilities under international law, every one
- 35:28of them. In addition to this action, we recently made important reforms in
- 35:32our asylum system, more efficient and more secure reforms. The goal is delivered
- 35:37decisions on asylum as quickly as possible, the quicker. The quicker decision means
- 35:43that a migrant is less likely to pay a criminal smuggler thousands of dollars are
- 35:47taken on a dangerous journey knowing that if in fact they move in the wrong
- 35:52direction, they returned around quickly. Two weeks ago, the Department of Justice
- 35:57stated started a new docket in the immigration courts to address cases where people recently
- 36:02cross the border to make can make a decision within six months rather than six
- 36:07years, because that's what happens now. Addition to the Department of Homeland Security
- 36:13has proposed new rules to allow federal law enforcement to more quickly remove asylumn seekers
- 36:17that have criminal convictions and remove them from the United States. My administration has
- 36:23also recently launched new efforts to go after criminal networks that profit from smuggling migrants
- 36:30to our border and incentivize people to give tips to law enforce provide information that
- 36:37brings smugglers to justice. We're also sending additional federal prosecutors to hotspots along the
- 36:43border and prosecute individuals who break our immigration laws. Millions of people a year
- 36:49will continue to pour across our border and be released into our country, and
- 36:53we recently learned Biden secretly granting mass amnesty to hundreds of thousands of these illegal
- 37:00aliens, along with welfare, government benefits, work permits, and jobs.
- 37:06He's not doing that However, for our veterans, he's not doing that for
- 37:09our homeless. He's giving illegal aliens far more than our veterans get, far
- 37:15more than our homeless get. One other critical step that will be taking and
- 37:21that is made a huge difference, but continue to work closely with our Mexican
- 37:25neighbors instead of attacking Mexico, and it's worked. We build a strong partnership
- 37:31of trust between the Mexican President Lopez Obrador, and I'm going to do the
- 37:36same with the Mexican elected president who I spoke with yesterday. We've chosen to
- 37:40work together with Mexico as an equal partner, and the facts are clear due
- 37:45to the arrangements that I've reached with President Obador, when number of migrants coming
- 37:52and shared to our shared border unlawfully in recent months has dropped dramatically. But
- 37:58while these steps are important, to truly secure the border, we have to
- 38:01change our laws and Congress needs to provide the necessary funding to hire one thousand,
- 38:07five hundred more border security agents, one hundred more immigration judges to help
- 38:12tackle the backlog of cases more than two million of them, three hundred more
- 38:17asylum officers to make decisions less than six months instead of six years, which
- 38:23is what it takes now, and around one hundred more high tech detection machines
- 38:29to significantly increase the ability to screen and stop fentanyl being smuggled into the United
- 38:34States. These investments were one of the primary reasons that the Border Patrol Union
- 38:40endorsed the bipartisan deal in the first place. These investments are essential. They
- 38:45remain essential as far as I'm concerned. If you're not willing to spend the
- 38:49money to hire more border patrol agents, more asylum officers, more judges,
- 38:54more high tech machinery, you're just not serious about protecting our border. It's
- 38:59as simple as that. I believe that immigration has always been a lifeblood of
- 39:02America. We're constantly renewed by an infusion of people and new talent. A
- 39:09statue of liberty is not some relic of American history. It stands for who
- 39:14we are as in the United States. Many of the left are even pushing
- 39:17for illegal aliens to vote in our elections, which is what this is all
- 39:22about. That's why they're allowing up to twenty million people since he took office.
- 39:27When I was president, we built over five hundred miles of border wall,
- 39:30stopped the flood of criminals, and we had the safest border in the
- 39:35history of our country. We need to secure our border once again. We
- 39:38need to secure our border once and for all. Crooked Joe, we'll never
- 39:43get the job done. He doesn't want to get the job done. It's
- 39:46just words and misinformation because he could have done it very easily. All he
- 39:51had to do is say close the border. That's the power of the presidency.
- 39:53But when I'm elected, it will be my top priority. So I
- 40:00will never demonize immigrants. I'll never refer to immigrants as but poisoning the blood
- 40:04of a country. And further, I'll never separate children from their families at
- 40:08the border. I will not ban people from this country because of the religious
- 40:13beliefs. I will not use the US military to go in to the neighborhoods
- 40:15all across the country to pull millions of people out of their homes and have
- 40:20away from their families, to put the tension camps and while waiting deportation,
- 40:24as my predecessor says he will do if he occupies his office again. My
- 40:30very first day as president, I introduced a comprehensive immigration reform plan to to
- 40:36fix our broken system, secure our border, provide a pathways for citizens,
- 40:40for dreamers, and a lot more. And I'm still fighting to get that
- 40:45done. But we must face the simple truth. To protect America as a
- 40:49land that welcomes immigrants, we must first secure the border and secure it now.
- 40:54The simple truth is there is a worldwide migrant crisis, and if the
- 41:00United States doesn't secure our border, there's no limit to the number of people
- 41:04may try to come here, because there's no better place on the planet than
- 41:07the United States of America. For those that say the steps I've taken are
- 41:12too strict, I say to you that be patient, and good will of
- 41:15American people are gonna be wearing thin right now. Doing nothing is not an
- 41:21option. We have to act, must act consistent with both our law and
- 41:24our values. Our values Americans. We'll take these steps today not to walk
- 41:30away from who we are as Americans, to make sure we preserve who we
- 41:35are for future generations to come. Today I've spoken about what we need to
- 41:39do to secure the border, and the weeks ahead, and I mean the
- 41:43week said, I'll speak to how we can make our immigration system more fair
- 41:46and more just. Let's fix the problem and stop fighting about it. I'm
- 41:52doing my part. We're doing our part. Congression Republicans should do their part,
- 41:57thank you very much. One day one I will seal the border,
- 42:00stop the invasion, and send Joe Biden's illegal aliens back home. They have
- 42:06to be sent back home because no country can sustain the damage that our country
- 42:10is sustaining. All over the world, crime rates are going down because all
- 42:15over the world, not just South America, they're sending criminals into the United
- 42:20States of America. They're taking their drug dealers, and they're people in jail,
- 42:25lots of people in jail. They're taking their murderers, they're killers,
- 42:30they're taking them all and they're sending them into the United States. And Venezuela
- 42:34crime is down, are staggering sixty seven percent because if you go to Caracas,
- 42:39if you go to different places, they're sending their criminals into the United
- 42:45States. It's a horrible thing. And that's happening all over the world,
- 42:47many many places, many countries. We're not going to let it continue.
- 42:52We're going to get them out. We're going to bring our country back to
- 42:54safety. We're going to make America great again, greater than ever before.
- 42:59Thank you. Very much
