- 0:00If the walls of certain homes could speak, some of the stories
- 0:04they would tell would more than likely shock and amaze us, or
- 0:10perhaps repulse and terrify us instead.
- 0:14This is one such story that if a house could tell its own tale,
- 0:18it would certainly be one we would never forget.
- 0:22A family moves to the country in search of peace, but those
- 0:26dreams are soon shattered by supernatural terror.
- 0:30Something evil lurks within the woods outside of their home, and
- 0:34this evil begins to stalk and wreak havoc upon everyone that
- 0:39dwells within the home. Can they save themselves before
- 0:44it's too late? This is the untold story of the
- 0:47haunted Hinsdale House, also known as the Dandy House, and
- 0:51the entities that infested it. Hinsdale, NY, a small town with
- 1:04a rustic and rural charm, tucked deep into the countryside and
- 1:09far away from the crime, concrete and smog of New York
- 1:14City. Instead of gazing at
- 1:16skyscrapers, they would rather gaze at the surrounding
- 1:19mountains covered in dense foliage.
- 1:23But these mountains and their surrounding woods harbor many
- 1:26secrets and have many stories to tell.
- 1:31This is just one of them. The year is 1970 and the Dandy
- 1:36family is in pursuit of their American dream.
- 1:41After years of vacationing to Hinsdale and the surrounding
- 1:44areas to catch a break from their fast-paced life in
- 1:48Buffalo, they finally reached a point where they can turn their
- 1:52vacation into their daily life. Seeking their own rural
- 1:56paradise, they come across a listing for a home that seems
- 2:01idyllic for their family and its needs.
- 2:04Clara Dandy, the mother of the family, believed that they all
- 2:08got along so much better in the country, like it had some form
- 2:12of redemption qualities about it that seemed to rejuvenate their
- 2:16spirits and their relationships. As they wind their way through
- 2:21the countryside, they lay eyes on the home for the first time.
- 2:26They are not only taken aback by the beauty and the sheer size of
- 2:29the house, but that it sat upon 8 acres of land surrounded by
- 2:34dense and breathtaking woods. Clara would describe her
- 2:38feelings about first seeing the house as being overcome with a
- 2:42deep sense of peace. It was like I'd finally come
- 2:46home after years of being elsewhere.
- 2:48And the air, the air was like breathing champagne.
- 2:52It was wonderful. The home is over 100 years old
- 2:56and still had most of the original and ornate woodwork
- 3:00intact. It just seemed to emanate charm
- 3:03and elegance. As the children explored the
- 3:07nearby woods, Mr. and Missus Dandy continued their tour, but
- 3:12when they were being shown the storage space underneath the
- 3:15stairs, the door was initially stuck, but after some elbow
- 3:20grease from Mr. Dandy, they were finally able to get it open.
- 3:25It revealed a dusty space of sorts with a fireplace, the one
- 3:30that didn't seem to fit the feeling of the house at all.
- 3:33Clara would describe her feelings towards the space like
- 3:36this. I wasn't sure why, but I felt
- 3:40very uneasy when we opened up the storage space.
- 3:43I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was dark and desolate,
- 3:48not at all like the rest of the house.
- 3:51But she quickly would dismiss these feelings, attributing the
- 3:55creepy factor to her city upbringing and the fact that
- 3:59they didn't have storage rooms like that where she was from.
- 4:02After closing the space and continuing to evaluate their
- 4:06opportunity, the feelings of peace would return and the
- 4:10dandies decide that they can't resist the charm of this rustic
- 4:14100 year old home, so they decide to purchase it once
- 4:19things are squared away. Several months later they move
- 4:22in to start their new rural existence.
- 4:26On move in day, Claire's brother decided to lend a helping hand
- 4:30and had begun to move things in hours before the family was able
- 4:34to arrive. When loading in a box of
- 4:37belongings, as he opened the door he was greeted by a flurry
- 4:42of insects. Both bees and flies pelted him
- 4:46in his face, rushing past them and then unloading the box onto
- 4:50the floor in the main room. He was startled to see hundreds
- 4:54of dead bees scattered all over the floor, and even more
- 4:58startled to see hundreds still alive encoding the windows.
- 5:04It was still cold during this time of year and although he too
- 5:08wasn't from the country, he found it rather odd that there
- 5:12would be any kind of infestation at this time.
- 5:15When his sister and her family finally arrive, he greets her
- 5:19with the news and in order to continue with the move in, they
- 5:23have to call an exterminator. Upon his arrival, he too
- 5:27confirms the oddity of the situation.
- 5:30He said that he had never seen so many bees and flies in one
- 5:34spot in a home, and given this time of year, it was not normal
- 5:38for them to swarm or infest anything during this time.
- 5:43It takes some time, but after he finishes clearing them out, the
- 5:47family is finally able to get moved in.
- 5:50As time progresses, things seem to fit the dreams they had for
- 5:54moving there in the 1st place. The family finally seems at
- 5:58peace. They were getting along better
- 6:01and enjoying each other's company, a far departure from
- 6:05their city life in Buffalo. But as the old adage goes, if it
- 6:09seems too good to be true, it is.
- 6:14A few weeks into living and what they believed was going to be
- 6:17their rural paradise, their son Mike has met and made friends
- 6:22with a nearby neighbor. Together, they begin to explore
- 6:25the woods surrounding the Dandy property.
- 6:28As the two navigate the forest, they're startled when they hear
- 6:32the crunching of leaves directly in front of them.
- 6:36Stopping frozen in their tracks and fearing that it could be a
- 6:40bear, they take refuge behind a large tree and sneak glimpses
- 6:45from round its sides to figure out just what it could be.
- 6:50To their shock, they spot a boy not much older than them
- 6:54carrying a rifle and walking in the path ahead.
- 6:58Yelling at the boy that this is private property and wanting to
- 7:02know what he was doing there, they run towards him and try to
- 7:06catch up to him. They again freeze in their
- 7:08tracks when they notice that not only is the boy transparent the
- 7:12closer they get, but half of his head is missing.
- 7:18As the figure continues to walk and taking deep breaths, they
- 7:23slowly continue to follow him. The three approach a small lake.
- 7:28Within the blink of an eye, the boy vanishes.
- 7:32Mike and his friend are at a loss for words and have no
- 7:36explanation for what they saw. They quickly rush back to the
- 7:40Dandy house as fast as they can to tell anyone who will listen
- 7:44to them. They soon make contact with
- 7:47Clara and explain to her what took place, but she's quick to
- 7:51dismiss their experience as nothing more than overactive
- 7:55imaginations. Another several weeks pass by
- 8:00and Clara has all but forgotten about what her son had told her.
- 8:04She's now walking the family dog, Madison, in the woods for
- 8:08some fresh air and exercise. As they get deeper into the
- 8:12forest, Clara starts to hear what can only be described as
- 8:17chanting. As she stops to listen, it
- 8:21sounds eerie and disembodied, as if the sound is all around her
- 8:27but has no true origin. It's at this time that Madison
- 8:32begins growling and barking. The longer she seems to focus on
- 8:37the chanting, the louder it seems to become.
- 8:42Madison by this point is losing her mind and breaks free from a
- 8:46distracted Clara and bolts in the direction of their home.
- 8:50Clara chases her down and she finally stops running when she
- 8:54makes it to the front door of their estate.
- 8:57After taking a moment to collect herself, Clara then calls her
- 9:01husband, who, like she was to her son, was quick to dismiss
- 9:05her feelings, thinking that she just had to adjust to rural life
- 9:10and wasn't used to it being so different from their life in the
- 9:13city. Frustrated and worried now about
- 9:16what the chanting could have been, Clara talks with her son
- 9:20about her experience while she prepares dinner for the family.
- 9:25Mike thinks that it could have been some campers at a nearby
- 9:27campground not too far from where their property line ends
- 9:31that could have been the cause of the strange sounds.
- 9:34To try and put his mother at ease, he and his friend Matt
- 9:37once again take to the woods to explore this possibility.
- 9:41As they venture further into the woods to the lookout point
- 9:45towards the campsite, they see nothing.
- 9:48There are no signs of any campers that could be nearby
- 9:51enough to have caused such a noise.
- 9:55Even more perplexed now that there was no explanation, the
- 9:59boys start to make their way back to the house when suddenly
- 10:04they hear what sounds like an axe thudding into a tree right
- 10:08next to them, unsure of what that noise could have been.
- 10:12Before they could even begin to ponder or investigate, they hear
- 10:16a woman screaming to their left. This frightens them so bad, but
- 10:21the two young men run as fast as they can all the way back to the
- 10:25Dandy's home. When they arrive, Mike is truly
- 10:29scared this time. He has no way of explaining his
- 10:33mother's experience or any of his own either.
- 10:37Upon relaying this information to Clara, both of them are left
- 10:41beside themselves now with a chill up both of their spines.
- 10:47But these weird events thus far would only intensify as the
- 10:51sands of time continue to trickle into the hourglass.
- 10:57It has now been months since the initial experiences, and besides
- 11:01the oddities they were, the family's life continues to be
- 11:05great. This distance from the
- 11:08experiences only makes them ever easier to dismiss in the minds
- 11:13of Clara and Mike. One day, Phil or Mr. Dandy
- 11:18decides to take the children, Mike and Tina, into Buffalo for
- 11:22the day to get some errands done.
- 11:25Mostly being a homebody, Clara decides to forgo the trip with
- 11:29her family and relax at home reading her latest book instead.
- 11:34When her family departs, Clara finds herself curled up on the
- 11:38couch and immersed in her latest story as a warm breeze drifts
- 11:43through the open windows of the house.
- 11:44As she reads page to page, she is suddenly startled when the
- 11:50window closest to her slam shut. Upon investigating, it makes no
- 11:56sense to her because the breeze was light, not forceful at all,
- 12:01and their windows were fairly new, which made it all the
- 12:05stranger. But as she always does, she
- 12:09dismisses the happening as nothing more than a weird
- 12:12coincidence and heads back to her book.
- 12:16Several nights later, as Mike lay asleep in his bed, he's
- 12:21suddenly woken up when a nearby box of a chess game drops onto
- 12:25his chest. The storage shelf is directly
- 12:29above his head, so opening his eyes he glances up to see if
- 12:34perhaps it could have been hanging too far off the edge,
- 12:37causing it to fall. And to his shock, he begins to
- 12:42see several more boxes slowly shifting towards the edge by
- 12:47themselves. The lowest one then suddenly
- 12:51flies out from the rest and smacks him in the chest.
- 12:56Terrified, he sits up, trying to catch his breath.
- 13:00He has no way of explaining how the lowest box could be pulled
- 13:04and thrown with such force without bringing the rest of the
- 13:08boxes with it, as if someone or something had grabbed and thrown
- 13:14it by a will of its own. Calling out to his mom in the
- 13:18darkness, she soon arrives in the doorway of his room.
- 13:22Being a very science and logic minded person, Mike has no way
- 13:27to explain what has happened. Examining the pile, Clara too is
- 13:32perplexed and becomes just as scared when another box from a
- 13:36different pile flies across the room, causing both of them to
- 13:41scream in terror and run out as fast as possible.
- 13:46Trying to make sense of what was taking place, Clara fears that
- 13:50whatever could be lurking in the woods has been stalking her
- 13:54family and has slowly but surely, like a malignant stain,
- 14:01invaded her home. As her fears turned into a
- 14:04revelation, Claire decides to reach out to a local priest for
- 14:09help, hoping her faith will help her come up with some answers
- 14:13and better yet, some solutions. She speaks with a priest named
- 14:19Father Alphonsus at the University of Saint Bonaventure.
- 14:23He believes that the activity could be a poltergeist, but
- 14:27given the intelligent nature of how it seemed to be behaving,
- 14:31Clara has her doubts, but nonetheless, once an expert's
- 14:35opinion and assistance. So arrangements are made for the
- 14:40Father to come out and bless the home, and after several days he
- 14:45arrives. On April 13th, 1975, the
- 14:51cleansing begins. As the family and the priest
- 14:55were all gathered together, and as he began to speak, a series
- 15:00of horrible wailing and moaning noises began to fill the home as
- 15:06if the house itself was crying. The scent of burning matter also
- 15:12quickly enveloped the house. The activity reached a fever
- 15:17pitch when the priest opened and began to pray over the crawl
- 15:21space that was underneath the stairs.
- 15:24But after this, a blissful silence overtook them all.
- 15:29It was if whatever entities that dwelled within the walls of the
- 15:33dandies home had finally been evicted.
- 15:37Within time, the father gathered his things, exchanged
- 15:41pleasantries and departed for the evening.
- 15:45The family now believed that their darkest days were behind
- 15:48them, and for all intents and purposes, that seemed to be the
- 15:52case. But as if to mock the Holy
- 15:55Trinity itself, three months later to the day, all hell would
- 16:01break loose once again. That night, while her husband is
- 16:06away on a business trip, Clara finds herself woken up out of a
- 16:10dead sleep by a series of knocks coming from inside the walls.
- 16:16The knocks themselves are soon accompanied with whispers from
- 16:21someone that she can't see. As she apprehensively makes her
- 16:25way from her room and slowly down the stairs headed towards
- 16:29the main level, the apparition of a young girl begins to walk
- 16:34by the stairs. She slowly makes her way to the
- 16:38crawl space, opens the door and closes it behind her.
- 16:44Clara's baffled at the sight. After gathering up her courage
- 16:49she too makes her way fully down the stairs into the crawl space
- 16:55and after a moment of bracing herself she opens the door and
- 16:59went to be met with nothing. Claire then makes her way to her
- 17:05daughter Tina's room to make sure it somehow wasn't her and
- 17:09perhaps her nerves were just on edge.
- 17:12But after opening her door, she finds her fast asleep in her
- 17:16bed, with no signs that she had been awake for some time.
- 17:21The following morning, while the rest of her family is still
- 17:24asleep, Tina wakes up to begin her day.
- 17:29As she feeds her pet bird in its cage and begins to brush her
- 17:32hair in her Oval mirror, she notices that her bird isn't
- 17:37doing its usual whistles. As she glances over at them, she
- 17:42finds it staring into the corner of the room.
- 17:45As Tina glances back up at the mirror, she's met with the
- 17:49apparition of a young girl. Her face is sunk in and her eyes
- 17:56were gone. She screams in terror and just
- 17:59as quickly as it appeared, the apparition disappears.
- 18:05The screams of her daughter startles and quickly summons
- 18:08Clara to her daughter's room. As she consoles Tina, she
- 18:12realizes that the priest's blessings were ineffective.
- 18:17She quickly calls Father Al back and explains what had taken
- 18:21place the previous night and that morning, and although he is
- 18:25busy, he promises to come back as soon as possible and this
- 18:30time to bring a paranormal expert with him as well to help
- 18:34him determine the cause and hopefully find a working
- 18:37solution. He's able to come back the
- 18:40following week. In the meantime, Clara's
- 18:44determined to keep her family calm.
- 18:47If she can control her own emotions, she knows that
- 18:50everything else will be OK. As they wait for the priest to
- 18:54return, Claire tries her best to keep her family calm and live
- 18:59some sort of a normal existence. That weekend, her and Phil are
- 19:04watching a movie while Mike and Tina are out with friends.
- 19:08As they enjoy their time together, their happiness is
- 19:12quickly shattered by a huge crashing noise coming from
- 19:16outside of their house. Quickly grabbing a flashlight
- 19:20and running outside to investigate together, they
- 19:23quietly stepped towards where they believed the noise to be
- 19:26originating from. And suddenly they hear it again.
- 19:32But this time, thankfully for them, the origin is not
- 19:37paranormal. This time, there's several
- 19:40raccoons who happened to be forging through their metal
- 19:43trash cans for something to eat. Relieved for that moment, they
- 19:49start to make their way back to the house when they suddenly see
- 19:53the figure of a young girl in their living room window,
- 19:57staring at them as they rush inside.
- 20:00They run up into Tina's room, where they find her incoherent
- 20:06and staring into her Oval mirror.
- 20:08They try to get her attention, but she's entirely unresponsive.
- 20:14Her pale blue eyes. Or Black.
- 20:18Panicking, they shake her and yell her name, not knowing what
- 20:22else to do when she eventually comes back.
- 20:26In that moment, and later, Tina will not recall how she got home
- 20:31or what exactly happened. As the family tries to gather
- 20:36themselves from the shock of what had just taken place, they
- 20:41hear movement coming from Mike's room.
- 20:44Phil tells his family not to leave Tina's room.
- 20:47As he rushes to investigate, however, the home phone begins
- 20:53to ring. It's Mike.
- 20:56He's asking if he can stay the night at his friend Randy's
- 20:59house. However, when told what was
- 21:02going on, he quickly tells her that he's coming home to help in
- 21:06any way that he can. Rushing to his car, Randy offers
- 21:10to come with him, to which Mike agrees.
- 21:13Randy would later recount that Mike's hands were sweating and
- 21:17he was shaking, gripping the steering wheel.
- 21:20He was pale. I asked him what was wrong, and
- 21:24he said that things were happening at the house that he
- 21:27couldn't explain. The boys quickly arrived to find
- 21:31the family in chaos. Phil is prepared to do battle
- 21:34with whatever forces within the house, and the girls are staying
- 21:38close to one another, attempting to comfort each other.
- 21:43As they try to determine a course of action, all the lights
- 21:46in the house go out. They then begin to hear banging
- 21:51and scratching coming from the crawl space.
- 21:56Flashlight still in hand, Fill with the backup of his family,
- 22:00shines the light towards it and begins to make his way towards
- 22:04whatever this thing is. It seems like with each step he
- 22:08takes, the sounds become louder, and after a tense several
- 22:13seconds, he opens the door to the crawl space.
- 22:17Inside, they find that the fireplace that was once there
- 22:21has been completely disassembled.
- 22:24Its bricks have now been stacked in an elaborate pile directly in
- 22:28the middle of the small room. The amount of effort and
- 22:32strength required to perform such a task convinces all of
- 22:36them that whatever they're dealing with is strong,
- 22:40persistent, and perhaps uncleansable.
- 22:45Nonetheless, with their spirits waning, Claire makes a desperate
- 22:49call to Father Al, who agrees to come earlier than originally
- 22:53planned and makes emergency arrangements for himself and his
- 22:57paranormal expert of a friend to come out that night.
- 23:01They arrive as soon as possible. The paranormal expert is a man
- 23:06by the name of Alex Tennis, a well respected paranormal
- 23:10researcher and psychic whose abilities were studied at the
- 23:15American Society of Psychic Research.
- 23:19Together they make their way to the door of the Dandy House,
- 23:22hoping to help rid this family of whatever seems to be stalking
- 23:26them. After being let in, the family
- 23:29quickly leads the pair to the crawl space to show them just
- 23:33what they were talking about. Although he was aware that some
- 23:36sort of activity was taking place, Alex had not been given
- 23:40any additional details or information in regards to the
- 23:44home, its history, or happenings.
- 23:48As he steps into the crawlspace room, he begins to have a
- 23:51vision. In his vision, he sees multiple
- 23:55dead bodies stacked within the crawlspace itself.
- 23:59After the vision subsides, Alex begins to explain to the family
- 24:03what he saw. He believed that many had passed
- 24:07away within the home itself, some of natural causes and some
- 24:12of murder. It was his conviction that based
- 24:15on what he saw, that the house used to be a stopping point for
- 24:19a Stagecoach or perhaps some kind of inn where people would
- 24:23stay the night before departing the following morning.
- 24:26It was also his belief that there was a nearby criminal or
- 24:30gang of criminals that would often rob and kill nearby
- 24:34travellers, and that perhaps these souls somehow became
- 24:38trapped here when someone passed or was found dead nearby.
- 24:43Being the only stopping point in the area, their bodies would be
- 24:47placed in the crawl space until they could receive a proper
- 24:50burial. It was also his belief that
- 24:53there were seven different spirits that were trapped within
- 24:56the home all together. With this revelation, the
- 25:00family. Alex and the Father pray that
- 25:03the trapped spirits within the home find peace and be released
- 25:08so that they may go on to their final destination.
- 25:11Upon the pair's departure, Clara once again has renewed hope.
- 25:16The home, as it did the first time around, seemed to be
- 25:19cleansed and to be more peaceful.
- 25:22Meanwhile, Mike and his friend Randy were skeptical of Alex's
- 25:26conclusions. After he left, they used an old
- 25:30map of the area to trace where he had said the old Stagecoach
- 25:34route was. They did indeed find what they
- 25:37believed to be an old trail that could have been used for such a
- 25:40thing, and the trail passed right by the Dandy home.
- 25:45But during their search, as they were following the trail out and
- 25:48headed back to the house, they experienced strangeness of their
- 25:52own. As they began to trace the
- 25:54trail, they began to see what they described as orbs of light
- 25:58in the nearby trees, and these orbs began to come at them.
- 26:03Randy, having never seen or experienced anything
- 26:07supernatural before, began to have a panic attack upon
- 26:11arriving at the house. They were fortunately able to
- 26:14get him calmed down. By this point it was late in the
- 26:18night and the entire family needed to try and get some form
- 26:22of sleep in order to function the following day.
- 26:25Randy ended up staying the night since he had rode with Mike.
- 26:30Once everyone else was settled down for the night and fast
- 26:32asleep, Clara sat by herself weeping.
- 26:38She felt that her and her family were helpless in the situation
- 26:41and that all efforts have been exhausted and that they needed
- 26:45to move. The only problem was that all
- 26:48their money, every last dime, had been sunk into the house,
- 26:53leaving them stranded. She would continue to
- 26:56contemplate the future and would cry herself to sleep that night.
- 27:01The following morning, as the family began to wake up and
- 27:05start to try and resume some form of normalcy, Mike went
- 27:09ahead and departed with Randy to take him home.
- 27:12Several hours would go by and Mike hadn't returned.
- 27:16Finally, there was a knock on the door.
- 27:19It was a police officer. He informed the family that
- 27:23there had been an accident, that they needed to head to the
- 27:26hospital as soon as possible. Rushing into the car into the
- 27:30hospital, the Dandy family wondered just what had happened.
- 27:34There had been no mention of Randy by the officer at the
- 27:37time. Upon arriving, they were briefed
- 27:41that Mike had lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a
- 27:44nearby ditch. He was now undergoing emergency
- 27:48surgery, he had extensive head injuries, a ruptured spleen that
- 27:53may have to be removed and that he had lost a very significant
- 27:57amount of blood. As they waited for the outcome
- 28:00of their son's surgery, the dandies were once again greeted
- 28:04by the officer who had knocked on their door.
- 28:07He explained to them that Randy had indeed been dropped off and
- 28:10that Mike had wrecked on his way back to the Dandy residence, but
- 28:15as he was being loaded into the ambulance, he kept saying that
- 28:18there was another person in the car with him.
- 28:21Although they believed him to be confused on account of his
- 28:24injuries. They went ahead and searched the
- 28:26area nonetheless, but another person was never found.
- 28:31After two weeks of being in a coma, Mike finally wakes up, but
- 28:36unfortunately has no recollection as to what exactly
- 28:40happened to him to cause the accident.
- 28:43Clara, however, believes that whatever presence that's been
- 28:47plugging their lives had to have been responsible for what
- 28:50happened to her son. After months of recovery for
- 28:54Mike and continued paranormal activity within the home, Father
- 28:59Alphonsus would return with Alex one last and final time at
- 29:04Claire's request to try and rid the home of the evil and
- 29:08persistent force that had drained the life out of all of
- 29:11them for years now. However, this time just the
- 29:16Father and Alex would perform the cleansing inside the home
- 29:20themselves. As they moved from room to room,
- 29:24Alex would once again experience multiple visions of the past.
- 29:29His visions would tell him that of the seven spirits who he
- 29:32believed to be within the house, one was that of a young man who
- 29:37had been in some kind of a war or battle near where the
- 29:40property sits now. Another was that of a young girl
- 29:44who had passed from some sort of very painful illness in what was
- 29:48now Tina's room. And there was another spirit
- 29:52that seemed to be keeping herself and others trapped
- 29:55within the house. It was the spirit of a woman who
- 29:59was incredibly angry and resentful.
- 30:02She continued to be possessive, depressive and just as angry and
- 30:07death as she was in life. Refusing to pass on believing
- 30:13what they had identified to be the source of the paranormal
- 30:16activity, Father Al decided to take a different approach to the
- 30:20cleansing itself. Although an exorcism cannot be
- 30:24performed on a place, but rather has to be performed on an
- 30:27individual, the rights themselves could in theory be
- 30:31performed or added to a series of prayers to try and use their
- 30:35strong cleansing powers to clear out a home such as this one.
- 30:40So that's exactly what the Father did.
- 30:43He began to perform the rites of exorcism within the house
- 30:47itself. As the prayers began to exit his
- 30:50lips, varying with intensity as the rights often do, the home
- 30:55began to literally shake and the horrific moaning and wailing
- 31:00that had made itself present in the very first cleansing seemed
- 31:04to return with a vengeance. Every horrible feeling, banging,
- 31:10knocking and scratching noise that the family had experienced
- 31:13thus far was present and seemed to be magnified.
- 31:18It takes hours, but eventually the rides are finished.
- 31:23As the dust settles, so to speak, the home seems peaceful
- 31:27and blissful, like it did when the family had first visited and
- 31:32decided to buy the home. And again, for three more
- 31:35months, the family lives in peace.
- 31:39But like the persistent force that has manifested itself to
- 31:42be, the haunting begins again. The Dandy family, despite their
- 31:48best efforts, simply cannot take it anymore, decide to cut their
- 31:52losses and move. Unable to find a buyer for their
- 31:57house, they eventually declare bankruptcy.
- 32:01Shortly after this, Phil and Clara would also divorce,
- 32:06bringing a sad and bitter end to what was supposed to be a rural
- 32:10redemption for the Dandy family. However, this wouldn't be the
- 32:15end of the story of the Hinsdale House.
- 32:19Eventually, the home would come into the possession of Daniel
- 32:23Klaus, who currently owns it. Daniel's a renowned paranormal
- 32:28investigator and has been involved with the likes of Nick
- 32:32Roth and has made appearances on tons of national TV programs
- 32:37centered around the paranormal over the years.
- 32:40Having been raised in a haunted house, this led to a lifelong
- 32:44fascination with the Paranormal Forum.
- 32:47After years of restoration, it is now available for both
- 32:50investigations and tours and is still considered a very active
- 32:56paranormal portal and is kept open as a paranormal research
- 33:00location. It's even staged in the 1970s
- 33:04period to maintain the integrity of when the hauntings were
- 33:08initially known to have began. But now that we know the back
- 33:12story of the 20th and into the 21st century of the Hensdale
- 33:16house, just who owned it, what happened to them and who owns it
- 33:20now, I would like to shift your attention to some of the
- 33:24plausible theories as to what could have caused the haunting.
- 33:28Many theories of what could have caused the haunting have been
- 33:31formed over the years by the many people who have researched
- 33:34and have been interested in the case.
- 33:37One theory is that the home was built on top of an Indian burial
- 33:41mound. This of course could have
- 33:43disturbed the spirits of the natives that rested within the
- 33:46land, and although tribes who used this method of burial were
- 33:49present in the area back in history, there's little to no
- 33:53evidence to support this claim. But perhaps any evidence by this
- 33:58point could have long since been lost to the sands of time or
- 34:02could have been removed when the home was initially built.
- 34:06Another theory is that the home was at one point used as a
- 34:09Stagecoach in and passer bys were murdered either near or
- 34:14within the home itself, leading to their spirits being trapped
- 34:18within the home or on its land. Although there is evidence that
- 34:22a Stagecoach route did run very close to the home, there isn't
- 34:26direct evidence that the house itself was used as an inn, but
- 34:30it is possible murders also did take place in or around the area
- 34:35in which the home is now located, which could lend
- 34:38credence to the theories of criminals robbing and murdering
- 34:42people along the Stagecoach route.
- 34:44An old family from the area that used to own the home with the
- 34:48last name of McMahon also lends credence to the home being used
- 34:52as an inn. At some point.
- 34:54The now past grandfather of the family used to tell stories of a
- 34:59road that passed by the house or stagecoaches traveled.
- 35:04Another theory is that one or several of the spirits were
- 35:08trapped as a result of hangings that took place there.
- 35:11The now famous hanging tree that sits near the residence was
- 35:16indeed used for executions for a time.
- 35:19Most famously, it seems, was the execution of a woman named
- 35:23Elizabeth. Elizabeth was pregnant.
- 35:27Could this perhaps be the spirit of the woman who was angry and
- 35:31refusing to leave? Other events, such as the
- 35:35homicide that took place in the year 2000 near the house, as
- 35:39well as a buzz saw incident that led to a boy's death, have led
- 35:43many to believe that whatever haunts the area could indeed
- 35:48still be there and influencing our world.
- 35:52It's important in my opinion to try and get the story and the
- 35:56facts as straight as possible, not only for the current owners
- 35:59benefit, but for the dandies who have suffered greatly as a
- 36:03result of their story becoming public, especially towards the
- 36:07end of their time at the property.
- 36:09As word got out that something strange was taking place at the
- 36:12house, a local paper ended up reaching out to the dandies for
- 36:16a statement. Thinking that they were
- 36:18accepting an opportunity for additional outside help, they
- 36:22gave their story only to be met with ridicule from the paper,
- 36:26which in turn led to ridicule from the public and nearby
- 36:30residents. Which this combined with the
- 36:32paranormal torment they were experiencing along with then
- 36:36having to file bankruptcy and then later divorce.
- 36:40In my opinion, they suffered greatly and did not benefit from
- 36:44the story especially during that time.
- 36:48The only benefit I've seen could be from Clara Miller, formerly
- 36:52Clara Dandy, who would eventually write a book known as
- 36:56Echoes of a Haunting. But to be fair, if I experienced
- 37:00even a portion of what she did, I would eventually write a book
- 37:03to catalogue what happened as well.
- 37:06Not only for some monetary benefit, of course, but for my
- 37:10own sanity, really. So as I've began to mention and
- 37:14will continue to mention again in the future, if you ever
- 37:17encounter anyone mentioned in this video or any of my other
- 37:21videos, whether it be in person or online, please be respectful
- 37:26of them and their experiences and do not ever harass anyone.
- 37:31And if you find yourself seemingly handed an opportunity
- 37:35that seems too good to be true the answer to your prayers, it's
- 37:40more than likely not the case. It could be a nightmare waiting
- 37:44to happen. It could be a haunted home
- 37:47infested with entities sitting and waiting for the perfect
- 37:51victim. Don't let it be you.
- 37:56Could an item, if given enough energy, devotion and focus,
- 38:01begin to take on a life of its own?
- 38:03Could it begin to exhibit human like characteristics as if it
- 38:08has been imbued with or contains some kind of soul or entity
- 38:13inside of it? This act of magic has been
- 38:15practiced by multiple religions and cults throughout the ages.
- 38:20This is just one very strange example that it could indeed be
- 38:24possible. After a gracious gift was placed
- 38:28into the arms of a little girl, tragedy would strike and what
- 38:32follows would continue to haunt the family, the citizens of the
- 38:36village, and would soon cross far beyond the barriers of land
- 38:41and sea. This is the untold story of
- 38:44Akiku, the haunted Japanese doll and the bizarre paranormal force
- 38:51that possessed it. Japan is a very mystical and
- 39:02spiritual place, a place where the souls of the past seem to
- 39:07interact with the living. Such places where the spiritual
- 39:12energy seems to be most visible is throughout many of Japan's
- 39:16spiritual temples, home to many religions, the two main ones
- 39:21being Buddhism and Shintoism. Thousands of temples exist all
- 39:27over the country, but one in particular houses a spiritual
- 39:31artifact that has a tragic back story and an even more
- 39:35terrifying story that continues to be written to this day.
- 39:40Located in Hokkaido, Japan at the Menenji Buddhist Temple is a
- 39:45doll with a bizarre and tragic back story.
- 39:48Indeed. Although there are several
- 39:51origin stories of how the doll came to be and how the temple
- 39:55became its final living space, so to speak, all of them have
- 40:00most of the main details in common.
- 40:02Therefore, I'll be telling the most agreed upon origin story to
- 40:07try and be as true to the legend as I can.
- 40:10The years 1918 in Hokkaido, Japan.
- 40:14And a 17 year old boy by the name of Ikiki Suzuki is in
- 40:19search of a gift for his little sister's birthday.
- 40:23As he pursues the different vendors and small shops,
- 40:27something soon catches his attention and one of the store
- 40:31windows. He spots a small, childlike doll
- 40:35wearing a traditional Japanese kimono.
- 40:38Knowing that he had finally found something his sister will
- 40:41love, the Kiki quickly purchases the doll and makes his way back
- 40:46home through the countryside. As the family celebrates their
- 40:50little girl's birthday, Okiku is presented with the doll and
- 40:55almost immediately, as soon as her eyes meet hers, she falls in
- 41:00love with it. The two from this point, become
- 41:03inseparable. Wherever Okiku is, her doll is
- 41:07right by her side. She Combs her hair, bathes her,
- 41:12addresses her and treats her as if she was her little sister and
- 41:17to even share meals and sleep side by side.
- 41:21The joy that the doll brought to Kiku must have filled Ekiki's
- 41:25heart with such happiness. But soon, that happiness would
- 41:29change to tragedy. One hot day, as the little girl
- 41:34played outside with her doll, she was bitten by a mosquito.
- 41:38This benign insect bite would soon manifest itself into a
- 41:42horrible case of malaria. Although the family did
- 41:46everything they could possibly do, Okiku would pass away scared
- 41:52and gasping for air as she clutched her special doll all
- 41:56the way until the moment she took her last breath devastated.
- 42:01The Suzuki's plan to have their little girl buried with the doll
- 42:04since she loved it so much, but unfortunately, due to either
- 42:09governmental or religious oversight at the time, this
- 42:12wasn't an option. Instead, after they had laid a
- 42:16Kiku to rest, the doll would be placed on a small family shrine
- 42:20located within the living quarters of their home as a
- 42:24tribute of sorts to their late daughter and their love for her.
- 42:28But shortly after the doll was placed on the shrine, very
- 42:32strange things began to happen. The Kiki, upon walking past the
- 42:36shrine one day, noticed that the dolls hair seemed significantly
- 42:40longer than what it had been when it was placed there.
- 42:44The hair which was originally shoulders length on the doll
- 42:47itself and black was now overgrown with differing shades
- 42:53of brown hair also coming through and splitting at the
- 42:56ends. Finding this bizarre to say the
- 42:59least, he brought the discovery to his parents attention and
- 43:03unsure of what else to do, they trimmed the dolls hair as the
- 43:08days came and when the family began to have distressing dreams
- 43:11at night of their departed Okiku.
- 43:14Sometimes she would be scared and alone in the darkness,
- 43:18calling out to them, only being recognized by her voice.
- 43:23Other times she would blame them for what happened to her.
- 43:27Each member of the family at differing times had these
- 43:30dreams, and they would soon lead all of them to believe that
- 43:34Akiku's soul wasn't peacefully resting.
- 43:37These disturbing dreams soon became all the stranger when the
- 43:41doll, which they began to refer to as Akiku and their daughter's
- 43:46honor, would appear by their bedsides following these
- 43:50nightmares. One such incident involved the
- 43:54father of the family waking up in a cold sweat only to be met
- 43:58face to face with a blank and lifeless stare of the doll.
- 44:05Unsure of what was taking place, the Suzuki's turn to their
- 44:09faith. After contacting a local
- 44:12Buddhist priest and having a cleansing ritual be performed on
- 44:15their home and the doll, the activity seemed to grow and
- 44:20become stronger. Accompanying their ever frequent
- 44:23nightmares and random movements of the doll, the chilling events
- 44:28grew into full blown spiritual manifestations during their
- 44:32waking life. They soon began to hear banging
- 44:35noises all throughout the house and the whispers of a little
- 44:39girl. Strange disembodied voices
- 44:43varying from high pitched like those of a child to the low
- 44:47groans of something unexplainable began to be heard.
- 44:52Their lights began to flicker on and off, and the paranormal
- 44:56activity seemed to happen more frequently as the calendar
- 45:00ticked closer to the birth and death dates of Akiku.
- 45:06These strange and terrifying happenings would continue over
- 45:09the course of the next 20 years, with multiple religious, priests
- 45:14and shamans being contacted and all coming to the same
- 45:18conclusion that after the cleansings failed time and time
- 45:21again, that the restless spirit of Akiku now inhabited the doll
- 45:26she once loved so much. Finally needing a major change
- 45:32and unable to deal with the ever intensifying spiritual presence
- 45:36that seemed to haunt their home, the Suzuki's relocated to a
- 45:40different district. Believing the doll to be the
- 45:43source of their various ailments and emotional torture that they
- 45:47had endured over the last two decades, they had no desire to
- 45:51take it with them. The family had reached the
- 45:53conclusion that if their daughter's soul wasn't at peace,
- 45:57what could perhaps be helping to fuel Akiku's power or magic was
- 46:02the close proximity of her grave to their home where the doll
- 46:06resided. So in order to distance the doll
- 46:09from the grave, the family approached the Meninge Buddhist
- 46:12Temple in Hokkaido, and over the years, the Dahl's reputation for
- 46:17being haunted had spread throughout the community and
- 46:21indeed the majority of the country.
- 46:23This was more than likely due to the various interactions between
- 46:27the spiritual community and the Suzuki family finding the Dahl
- 46:31to be mesmerizing and possibly a unique opportunity to commute
- 46:36and interact with the dead. If the stories were true, the
- 46:40leaders and priests of the Meninge temple agreed to home
- 46:43Okiku permanently. As with many legends, we find
- 46:47lots of details to be exaggerated over time and
- 46:51perhaps some of the details to not be true at all.
- 46:55And this is what the priests were originally thinking, that
- 46:58perhaps due to grief, the family was dealing with other spiritual
- 47:02ailments perhaps unrelated to the doll, or causing the doll to
- 47:06be a vessel of sorts for restless spirits.
- 47:10However, as the years came and went, as Akiku now called the
- 47:14temple her home, they began to slowly but surely experience the
- 47:19same strangeness the Suzuki's had.
- 47:22For all of those years. Akiku's hair continued to grow
- 47:27and this baffled the priests. They would eventually have the
- 47:30hair trimmed and tested, and the hair was said to belong to a
- 47:35little girl. They found that the entity
- 47:38seemed to be appeased when her hair was trimmed and combed, and
- 47:42this led to less activity for a time.
- 47:45But the same activity? The knocking, banging, and
- 47:49disembodied voices which soon plagued the temple as well.
- 47:54No, Kiku's power only seemed to grow.
- 47:58Any priest who seemed skeptical of the doll or attempted to
- 48:01cleanse it themselves soon had their dreams haunted as well,
- 48:06turning their sleep into restless fits.
- 48:09Their homes and rooms soon also began to manifest the very same
- 48:14activity that the temple was now exhibiting.
- 48:17With no remedy seeming to work, the leaders turned to
- 48:21appeasement instead, hoping that gestures of goodwill would keep
- 48:25the entity at Bay. As years turn to decades, and as
- 48:29we've come into the 21st century, the priests of multiple
- 48:33generations now have overseen and cared for the Dahl known as
- 48:38Akiku. And though some of the more
- 48:40violent activity has faded, the general consensus is that she is
- 48:45now just as powerful as she was, or is perhaps more powerful as
- 48:50she's continued to age. It seems like as the more her
- 48:53fame and notoriety grows, the more visitors she has, the
- 48:58stronger she becomes. She continues to invade the
- 49:02dreams of those who come to visit her, and her hair is
- 49:06growing faster and more frayed. She's said to drive Taurus mad
- 49:11who doubt her, with many people even reporting that besides
- 49:15seeing her strange hair and feeling a malevolent presence
- 49:19when visiting her, they've also had her stalk and appear in
- 49:23their dreams. Some more disturbing and recent
- 49:26reports have even suggested that her mouth is slowly opening and
- 49:31that if you dare to appear inside of it, you may just catch
- 49:34a glimpse of baby like teeth sprouting from her porcelain
- 49:38gums. As if whoever or whatever she is
- 49:43is slowly turning to flesh and bone.
- 49:48The paranormal displays of her power continue to occur as well.
- 49:52Her permanent home, located within the menaging temple, is
- 49:55her own private shrine where she sits in a small wooden box on
- 49:59display. It is here that she watches and
- 50:03waits for anyone and everyone who dares to play with fire and
- 50:09invoke the power of the entity known as a Kiku.
- 50:14But what are your thoughts? Was a Kiku the girl trapped
- 50:17inside of the doll? In my opinion, although her
- 50:21spirit would be much older now, at the time of her death she was
- 50:25either close to or was three years old, and no person at that
- 50:29age is capable of true malice to the point to where she would
- 50:33become aware enough to begin to blame her parents and then
- 50:37torment them for decades to come as children.
- 50:41Our parents, or our family, or our entire world.
- 50:45So I find it incredibly difficult to think that these
- 50:48bizarre happenings were the result of her soul being
- 50:51restless and imbuing the doll. What I find more likely, and all
- 50:56the more interesting really, is the thought of invocation or the
- 51:00imbuing of the doll. Like a conduit or a vessel of
- 51:04sorts. Akiku the girl was, as they
- 51:08said, inseparable from the stall.
- 51:10She fed it, bathed it, took naps with it, and everything else a
- 51:15small child would do with that wonderful imagination that they
- 51:18have. But could all of this dedication
- 51:21and focus accompanied with the tragedy that took place allow
- 51:26for a portal to open for an entity, whether non human or a
- 51:30restless human spirit to inhabit the doll?
- 51:34And by non human I mean a demon. This would make sense to me.
- 51:39Something that enjoys and grows more powerful off of pain and
- 51:42misfortune or the emotional torment of others.
- 51:46As it causes the pain, it feeds off of it and grows ever
- 51:50stronger. This would not only explain the
- 51:53malevolent manifestations of whatever entity is present, but
- 51:57would also explain the still present force and the alleged
- 52:01ever growing power of it. And depending on the entity's
- 52:04strength, it could also explain why the cleansings thus far have
- 52:09failed. However, if you find yourself
- 52:12taking a trip to Japan anytime soon, or you happen to call
- 52:16Japan home if you find yourself in Hokkaido, you may want to
- 52:20steer clear of the Menajin Temple.
- 52:23Because if you don't, the entity that inhabits the doll known as
- 52:27a Kiku may just use you as its next feeding source, where it'll
- 52:33begin to plague your dreams, making you twist and turn, sweat
- 52:39and fear. As it grows ever stronger and
- 52:43attempts to cross from its world into ours, making our plane of
- 52:49existence its permanent residence.
- 52:53An unsuspecting family finds what they believe to be the
- 52:57perfect home. But underneath the facade of
- 53:00this charming farmhouse, there is a sinister force, dark as the
- 53:05abyss. Lying underneath the heavy fog
- 53:09upon the land, there lies generations of graves.
- 53:13These graves could hold the key to solving their paranormal
- 53:17nightmare. This is the untold story of the
- 53:21old Arnold Estate, also known as The Conjuring House, and the
- 53:27demonic forces that dwell within it.
- 53:46Harrisville, RI, a small town located on America's East Coast
- 53:51with just a population of an estimated 1800 people.
- 53:55Like many towns across the country, you could easily
- 53:58overlook this one at face value. But it's when we take a deeper
- 54:03look, we discover that this little town has a dark history.
- 54:09Its story is filled with death, from murders to drownings and
- 54:14much more. With all these unfortunate
- 54:17happenings in mind, it makes one beg the question, could there be
- 54:21something evil that stalks this place?
- 54:25Something that feeds upon suffering and misery?
- 54:28Perhaps there is, and perhaps that is what contributed to the
- 54:33creation of the following story. It all starts in Central Falls,
- 54:38RI in 1970, where the Peron family, which consisted of
- 54:45mother Carolyn, father Roger, and their five daughters Andrea,
- 54:51Nancy, Christine, Cynthia and April, we're all living a
- 54:56relatively normal life. Among things like school, work
- 55:01and outdoor play. Nothing seemed quite out of the
- 55:05ordinary, yet the children had been gifted a puppy with an
- 55:11exceptionally unique personality and out of the ether.
- 55:15A name came to mind when they were naming her Bathsheba.
- 55:21A unique dog with a unique name. She was fond of all the
- 55:25children, but especially Andrea, Now 10 years old.
- 55:30She would often take Bathsheba for walks around their suburban
- 55:34neighborhood. However, on one of those walks,
- 55:38tragedy would strike and would seemingly set in motion a
- 55:42snowball effect that would follow the family for years to
- 55:46come. While Andrea had the puppy out
- 55:49in the neighborhood, her sisters had come up from playing outside
- 55:54and decided to make the walk a group activity.
- 55:57All seemed fine until a car full of teenagers drove by at an
- 56:01incredibly high rate of speed. They seemed to be yelling
- 56:05something in unison and had brightly colored tassels hanging
- 56:09out of their windows. Bathsheba was an obedient dog,
- 56:14but the flailing and bright colored streamers caught her
- 56:17attention and in an instant she broke loose from Andrea and
- 56:23bolted towards the vehicle. The shocked girls then watched
- 56:27the car miss her by mere inches as she made her way safely
- 56:31across the road. But being the good dog that she
- 56:34was, upon hearing Andrea call out to her again, she began to
- 56:39run back to them and in the blink of an eye, she was struck
- 56:44by another vehicle, an elderly couple that never even saw her.
- 56:50Her leash had gotten caught around one of the wheels of
- 56:53their car when they hit her and she was suffering immensely.
- 56:58A nearby neighbor called the police, and upon removing the
- 57:02children from the scene, they were traumatized further as they
- 57:06heard the gunshot that ended the poor animal's life.
- 57:10The entire family now held a deep despair at the tragedy that
- 57:14had taken place. She wasn't just a pet, she was a
- 57:18member of the family, and there was now an unspoken pain that
- 57:22haunted them. The family had planned a
- 57:25vacation months prior and hoped that a break from their normal
- 57:29routine would help everyone. So they went and soon some of
- 57:35their sadness turned to joy as the family experienced hotel,
- 57:39swimming pools, ice cream and shopping.
- 57:44But this joy would too be short lived.
- 57:48The family also had four cats and upon returning to their home
- 57:52with this new found sense of well-being, they would endure
- 57:56even more trauma. They would discover that almost
- 58:00all of their cats had been viciously killed by neighborhood
- 58:04kids while they were gone. Several had every bone in their
- 58:08bodies broken with a baseball bat.
- 58:12Upon this horrific discovery, their father, Roger, rushed
- 58:16inside the house to call the police, only to find their home
- 58:20absolutely ransacked as well. Furniture was upside down,
- 58:26mirrors and windows broken, all of their provisions left to
- 58:30spoil from their tipped over fridge, and their carpet was
- 58:35doused in motor oil. It would later be discovered
- 58:38that two of their cats were killed by the group of the kids.
- 58:42One would never be seen again and the other had been seriously
- 58:46beaten but would survive. Although the neighborhood was
- 58:51known for angsty teenagers and roughhousing kids, the family
- 58:55wondered how could these kids conduct such evil?
- 59:00Did the devil's foot soldiers know no bounds?
- 59:02A police report was filed and it was shortly uncovered that the
- 59:07demon seed who had LED these awful actions was their 12 year
- 59:11old neighbor. The young man was seemingly a
- 59:14born criminal. Upon being confronted, the boy's
- 59:19mother covered for her son, and despite their best efforts, due
- 59:23to lack of evidence, nothing much would come of the report
- 59:26with the police, but Andrea would have her revenge.
- 59:32She had yet to come to terms with her precious Bathsheba's
- 59:35death, and now this, the rage inside of her built.
- 59:41After some thorough planning, she attacked the boy who was
- 59:44responsible, beating him ferociously, breaking his nose,
- 59:50blackening his eyes until she was pried off by a nearby
- 59:54neighbor and told to go home. All this wouldn't bring her
- 59:58animals back, but it felt justified to the young girl,
- 1:00:02given what the boy had done. But these antics of sadness,
- 1:00:07hostility, and rage would soon manifest into something much
- 1:00:12darker. Ever since their home was
- 1:00:15ransacked, Carolyn had wanted to move, but knowing they weren't
- 1:00:20in a financial state to do so. They had little to no choice
- 1:00:24other than to stay, so she kept an ever watchful eye on her
- 1:00:29children, letting them out of the house rarely and mostly
- 1:00:33under her supervision. Given the prior events, she
- 1:00:36wanted them raised by wild nature, not wild beasts.
- 1:00:42Shortly after this time, Rodger had prepared to depart for a
- 1:00:45business trip which was to last several days.
- 1:00:49Even amidst the turmoil of the current events, he still had to
- 1:00:53provide for his large family. And while his family was just
- 1:00:57waking up that morning, as he and his wife Carolyn enjoyed
- 1:01:01their morning cup of coffee, they were suddenly startled by
- 1:01:05the sound of a large explosion in their front yard, like
- 1:01:09someone had fired a cannon towards their house.
- 1:01:13Alarmed, they raced outside to discover what had happened.
- 1:01:19Shortly after purchasing their humble home, Carolyn had built a
- 1:01:23rock garden of sorts at the entrance of their driveway.
- 1:01:27Her friends often teased her that it's centerpiece resembled
- 1:01:31a tombstone without the inscription of the dearly
- 1:01:34departed. Well to the family shock, their
- 1:01:39neighbor from across the street had started his truck that
- 1:01:42morning and had suffered a major heart attack and had died at the
- 1:01:46wheel, his foot pressing down on the gas causing the truck to
- 1:01:51barrel directly at the parents home to smash right into that
- 1:01:55large rock. It was almost like something was
- 1:01:59following them, like a living breathing Organism feeding upon
- 1:02:05it. After this horrible event,
- 1:02:08people began to refer to the rock garden as the graveyard.
- 1:02:13Missus Curtis, the wife of the neighbor who had passed away,
- 1:02:18upon being greeted and offered condolences by the family,
- 1:02:22actually blamed them for what had happened, declaring that
- 1:02:26Carolyn never liked them anyway and was a witch.
- 1:02:30That was enough for her. Again, she begged Roger to move,
- 1:02:35but they were seemingly stuck given the awful circumstances.
- 1:02:40The man still had to work, so he departed for his business trip.
- 1:02:46While her husband was gone, it was up to Carolyn to take care
- 1:02:49of their five children. This meant taking them to and
- 1:02:53from school, as well as music lessons and much more.
- 1:02:58While attending her daughter Andrea's music lessons, she had
- 1:03:01forgotten to bring a book to help her pass the time, so
- 1:03:05Carolyn went and purchased a paper as a substitute.
- 1:03:09Before too long she found herself daydreaming and looking
- 1:03:12through the various ads and real estate available, wanting and
- 1:03:17wishing that she could change their current predicament when
- 1:03:20strangely enough, the universe seemed to glance back at her.
- 1:03:25Hidden among many other homes was a nine bedroom farmhouse
- 1:03:29with a barn, lots of land and seclusion.
- 1:03:34It's beautiful design and elegance soon had Carolyn
- 1:03:38imagining her children playing and being raised in nature as
- 1:03:41she wanted that she could allow them to do so without the fear
- 1:03:46of other children attempting to harm them.
- 1:03:49She almost immediately became obsessed with the idea of
- 1:03:52purchasing the house and although the family really
- 1:03:55couldn't afford it at the time without seeking Roger's
- 1:03:59permission, she made a call and went to look at the old Arnold
- 1:04:03estate the following day. The owner was a very nice old
- 1:04:08lady, and although she didn't have much, Carolyn asked how
- 1:04:12much she would have to put down to hold the home so she could
- 1:04:15purchase it once her husband had returned.
- 1:04:18An agreement of $500 as a good faith payment was made, and
- 1:04:23shortly after Roger arrived back home several days later, he was
- 1:04:28sideswiped by his wife's decision, although his anger
- 1:04:33would soon turn to understanding.
- 1:04:35After all, a happy wife makes for a happy life, as most would
- 1:04:40say. Even though he didn't know
- 1:04:42exactly how they would make it work, he decided to placate his
- 1:04:46wife and allow them to purchase the home.
- 1:04:50It took some time, but before too long they found themselves
- 1:04:54packing and coming into possession of the keys to their
- 1:04:57future. Although they couldn't foresee
- 1:05:00just how dark of the future it was to be the parent family,
- 1:05:08having seemingly found the home of their dreams located on a
- 1:05:12large swath of land outside of the town of Harrisville, RI,
- 1:05:17what would become known as the Old Arnold Estate almost seemed
- 1:05:21to perfect like an answer to their desperate prayers.
- 1:05:26It's a large farmhouse which has nine bedrooms, a barn, and
- 1:05:32plenty of land which they can envision their children playing
- 1:05:35on and having a wonderful time. Although it's winter, they go
- 1:05:40ahead and begin to move into their new house.
- 1:05:44There's a massive snowstorm taking place while they're
- 1:05:47moving in, but this doesn't deter the large family from
- 1:05:51getting settled in to what they believe is going to be a
- 1:05:54charming, nice and new home for all of them.
- 1:05:59Given everything they've been through, I would have hoped for
- 1:06:01the same. And for the first three months,
- 1:06:05things are charming, nice and normal.
- 1:06:09Their rustic farmhouse has its challenges with it being fairly
- 1:06:13old, such as being very cold that winter, but it's nothing
- 1:06:17they can't deal with, or so they think.
- 1:06:22All around, the feeling is a happy one for the family.
- 1:06:26But this happy mood would soon change.
- 1:06:29Upon meeting their nearest neighbors, they seemed rather
- 1:06:33strange. They offered one piece of advice
- 1:06:37to Roger and Carolyn. For the love of your family,
- 1:06:41keep the lights on at night. Originally written off by the
- 1:06:45couple, these words would seem to be rather fitting
- 1:06:48foreshadowing for the events to come.
- 1:06:52When the frozen land of the farm began to thaw, it seemed like
- 1:06:56something thawed along with it and began to plague them once
- 1:07:00again. One night when the daughters,
- 1:07:03Nancy and Andrea were asleep in their shared room, were suddenly
- 1:07:08woken up by the sound of their doors slimming open and closed,
- 1:07:12open and closed. Petrified by the noise of the
- 1:07:16door smacking the wall and it also being their only way out of
- 1:07:20the room, they ran towards the door to try and escape when
- 1:07:25suddenly it stopped moving and just stayed open, still creaking
- 1:07:32from being moved. Catching their breath and trying
- 1:07:37to come to terms with what had just happened, Thinking by this
- 1:07:40point maybe one of their other sisters was trying to play a
- 1:07:43prank on them, the two girls looked down the hall and
- 1:07:47eventually made their way to their other sisters rooms where
- 1:07:50they found them asleep. Needless to say they wouldn't
- 1:07:55sleep for the rest of the night. They would bring this to the
- 1:07:59attention of their parents the following morning, but were
- 1:08:02quickly dismissed, as is often the case, and told that they had
- 1:08:07overactive imaginations. From here, things started small
- 1:08:13but became very noticeable as they mushroomed into much bigger
- 1:08:17experiences. At first, whatever spirits they
- 1:08:21believed could be in the house seemed benevolent, almost
- 1:08:25good-natured, with some of the younger siblings later stating
- 1:08:29that they would even be tucked into bed by the spirit of a
- 1:08:32woman on occasion, but that was all too short lived.
- 1:08:36Items soon began to go missing. Car keys weren't where they had
- 1:08:40been hung daily. Items such as mugs, toys, and
- 1:08:45utensils were soon disappearing as well.
- 1:08:49Carolyn would hear the scraping of a broom upon the floor or the
- 1:08:53knocking of a kettle in the kitchen when no one else was
- 1:08:56home but her. With this, upon cleaning the
- 1:09:00floors, she would also find piles of dirt that would appear
- 1:09:05out of nowhere, making her feel as if she was going crazy.
- 1:09:10But these small happenings too would soon become larger.
- 1:09:15The children would often play a game called Hide and Clap, a
- 1:09:18version of hide and go Seek. This time, Andrea was the seeker
- 1:09:23and her sisters went off hiding throughout the estate.
- 1:09:27Cindy made her way into the woodshed, found a small box just
- 1:09:31big enough for her to get inside.
- 1:09:33Being determined to win, she climbed into the box and slid
- 1:09:37the small lid over the top, figuring this would be an
- 1:09:40excellent hiding place indeed. And after several minutes, she
- 1:09:45realized that no one was coming for her and went to remove the
- 1:09:49lid. Except it wouldn't budget.
- 1:09:52Panicking and utter darkness, she used all means necessary to
- 1:09:57try and remove the lid and free herself.
- 1:10:01After screaming and worrying that she'd suffocate inside this
- 1:10:05box, she was thankfully found by Andrea, who slid the lid off no
- 1:10:10problem, revealed her horribly distressed younger sister
- 1:10:14inside. It's important to note that this
- 1:10:18was a sliding cover. There was no locking mechanism.
- 1:10:23Along with this terrifying event, the children's rooms were
- 1:10:26often rearranged daily. They would leave their things
- 1:10:30one way in the morning and return to things either
- 1:10:33completely a mess, as if a small cyclone had hit their rooms, or
- 1:10:38all items would be smashed underneath their beds.
- 1:10:41And this happened to all of the girls at one point or another.
- 1:10:46These small whispers, bangings and movements did indeed become
- 1:10:52larger. Andrea, being the oldest, would
- 1:10:56often be woken up by her younger siblings and would hold them as
- 1:11:00they sobbed their eyes out, terrified to return to their
- 1:11:03rooms. Cindy, in particular, began to
- 1:11:07hear a sinister voice call out to her almost every night.
- 1:11:11The voice would tell her that there were seven dead soldiers
- 1:11:14in the walls and would repeat it over and over and over again.
- 1:11:22The children, now terrified, begged their parents to believe
- 1:11:26them, and although they too were beginning to experience things
- 1:11:30on their own, they didn't want to frighten the children, so
- 1:11:34they did what could be done to placate them.
- 1:11:38But soon the entire family began to hear the wails of something
- 1:11:42inhuman calling out for its mother.
- 1:11:46This disturbing trend with no origin was followed by even more
- 1:11:51disturbing happenings. The beds of the girls would lift
- 1:11:55up and shake by an unseen force, almost always around 5:15 AM, as
- 1:12:02if something was trying to send some kind of a message, although
- 1:12:07it was never clear just what that message was supposed to be.
- 1:12:11During the day, the apparitions of spirits began to manifest and
- 1:12:16stock the halls of the old Arnold estate.
- 1:12:19These were soon coupled by the horrible stench of rotting flesh
- 1:12:24wafting throughout the house. Soon the girls weren't the only
- 1:12:28ones whose doors were slamming open and closed and whose beds
- 1:12:33were lifting up on their own. Soon it was affecting their
- 1:12:37parents as well. One night, Carolyn woke up
- 1:12:41suddenly to the figure of an old woman over the foot of her bed.
- 1:12:45Her hair was like a sack of cobwebs with little tendrils
- 1:12:50hanging off. The woman's head was also bent
- 1:12:53and hanging off to the side of her neck as if it was horribly
- 1:12:57broken and mangled, her gnarled mouth screaming at her with an
- 1:13:02echoing voice. Get out, She shouted over and
- 1:13:08over again until she suddenly was no longer there.
- 1:13:14The parent family continued to endure a living nightmare as the
- 1:13:18traumatic paranormal activity persisted and continue to scale
- 1:13:22in intensity. How does one fight an enemy he
- 1:13:28can't see? Something he can't touch or
- 1:13:32feel, attack or defend against? This question and more must have
- 1:13:38ran through the heads of Rodger and Carolyn as they not only
- 1:13:42feared for themselves, but especially their children.
- 1:13:45Now as their offspring's natural protectors.
- 1:13:50How anxiety inducing must it have been to know that they were
- 1:13:54powerless to stop what was terrorizing all of them each and
- 1:13:58every night. In an effort to try and
- 1:14:02understand what was happening to them, Carolyn began to research
- 1:14:06the history of their house and was shocked by what she found.
- 1:14:11Over 8 generations of the Arnold family had lived and died within
- 1:14:16the home, some by horrible means, according to the Black
- 1:14:22Book of Burlville, the town's former public records book.
- 1:14:26These included two suicides by hanging, one within the family
- 1:14:31barn, one by poison, the assault and murder of a young girl named
- 1:14:36Prudence Arnold by a farm hint, 2 drownings in the nearby Creek,
- 1:14:43and four men who froze to death. Among some of the notable
- 1:14:47deaths, one death that caught her eye in particular was that
- 1:14:53of a woman named Bathsheba Sherman.
- 1:14:56Her name was spelled exactly like their dog that they had
- 1:14:59previously owned, and her story was as interesting as it was
- 1:15:04disturbing. Born Bathsheba there in 1812,
- 1:15:10she married fellow Rhode Islander Judson Sherman and
- 1:15:14Thompson, Connecticut on March 10th, 1844.
- 1:15:19According to available information from that time, the
- 1:15:23two had a son named Herbert, and for all intents and purposes,
- 1:15:27things seemed normal. But that couldn't be further
- 1:15:30from the truth. After losing three children
- 1:15:34before the age of seven, Bathsheba began to care for her
- 1:15:37neighbor's children, perhaps to fill the void that such sorrow
- 1:15:41could create. And it's here where things take
- 1:15:45a strange turn. While caring for the infant of a
- 1:15:48nearby family, the infant suddenly passed away within
- 1:15:53Bathsheba's care. An investigation ensued and it
- 1:15:57was found that the child had a puncture wound in its skull, as
- 1:16:01if someone had taken a large sewing needle and sent it
- 1:16:05through the child's head. Rumors of devil worship and
- 1:16:10witchcraft soon became rife, with many believing she had
- 1:16:15indeed sacrificed her children to Satan, robbing them of their
- 1:16:19young lives. Although Bathsheba was never
- 1:16:23punished for the child's death since there was never a trial,
- 1:16:27that didn't stop her behavior from becoming increasingly
- 1:16:30bizarre. She became incredibly reclusive,
- 1:16:35strange and dark. Rumors say that she supposedly
- 1:16:41attempted to murder other children while confessing her
- 1:16:44love for Satan before she then climbed atop the highest tree on
- 1:16:49the estate, cursing everyone before hanging herself.
- 1:16:54And although that would make for a much more fascinating story,
- 1:16:58it doesn't seem to be true. The rumors may indeed have been
- 1:17:02spread and they're evidence of multiple child deaths, including
- 1:17:06the infant via needle like object, but her tombstone reads
- 1:17:11her death date as May 25th, 1885 S Odds are that she passed away
- 1:17:18as an old woman, but perhaps given the circumstances, she
- 1:17:22became more bitter with age. Another strange detail that was
- 1:17:27uncovered was one of the hanging deaths that took place within
- 1:17:31the barn on the estate. It was that of Catherine Arnold.
- 1:17:36She had, seemingly out of the blue one day, made her way from
- 1:17:40the house to the barn, gathered a rope, and hung herself from
- 1:17:45the rafters. She was frozen solid.
- 1:17:49When she was later discovered. It seemed like whatever
- 1:17:53paranormal force that stalked the land tormented the
- 1:17:57matriarchs of the families that lived there and fed upon death
- 1:18:02itself. These supernatural occurrences
- 1:18:06that now plagued the Peron family were a daily occurrence,
- 1:18:10and they soon also began to physically touch the family as
- 1:18:14well. Poking soon turned to pushing, a
- 1:18:18hand on the shoulder soon turned to slapping, scratching, and
- 1:18:23more. One day when Carolyn was reading
- 1:18:27a book in the living room, she felt a piercing pain in her
- 1:18:31calf. Upon further examination, she
- 1:18:35saw what appeared to be a puncture wound, like that of a
- 1:18:38needle, with a small dribble of blood now coming out of her leg.
- 1:18:43These attacks didn't stop here. Carolyn soon believed that it
- 1:18:49was Bathsheba who was causing the majority of her problems.
- 1:18:53The spirit seemed to hide her things daily, making her feel as
- 1:18:57if she was going insane while simultaneously lusting after her
- 1:19:02husband. In later interviews, Roger would
- 1:19:06state that he never felt threatened by her spirit and
- 1:19:10that he only ever saw her sweeter side, such as comforting
- 1:19:13touches and the feeling of an embrace.
- 1:19:17To the contrary, his poor wife experienced much, much worse.
- 1:19:24Andrea Perrin, also in later interviews, said that the whole
- 1:19:27family believed it was the spirit of Bathsheba who was
- 1:19:31mostly tormenting Carolyn, as if she saw herself as the matriarch
- 1:19:37or the mistress of the house, and that Carolyn was some kind
- 1:19:41of competition, an obstacle between her and Roger's
- 1:19:45affection. On the verge of losing her mind
- 1:19:49and being tortured daily, the family was barely holding things
- 1:19:53together, most of all Carolyn. She had vented to a friend of
- 1:19:59hers named Barbara about what she had been going through.
- 1:20:03And strangely enough, this friend just so happened to
- 1:20:06attend a lecture that was being given by renowned paranormal
- 1:20:10scholars and demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.
- 1:20:15It was Barbara that actually told the Warrens about the
- 1:20:19parents and their struggles. Intrigued, they were put into
- 1:20:24mutual contact with one another, and before too long, the Warrens
- 1:20:28arrived at the front door of the old Arnold Estate.
- 1:20:33Upon stepping into the home for the first time, Lorraine Warren
- 1:20:37noticed a heavy and malevolent presence.
- 1:20:41Upon further convening over the course of several weeks, the
- 1:20:45couple told the family that they indeed were being haunted by the
- 1:20:49spirit of Bathsheba and that she had made a pact with Satan
- 1:20:54himself after sacrificing one of her children to him.
- 1:20:58She then hung herself on the property in order to haunt it
- 1:21:02forever. This is why the family was often
- 1:21:06seeing the mangled necked apparition of the woman with
- 1:21:09wispy hair. This was apparently her.
- 1:21:13Over the course of several months, the Warrens would visit
- 1:21:17the old Arnold estate in order to try and assist the family
- 1:21:20with riding themselves of the spirits, but it was all to no
- 1:21:24avail. All of these events seem to
- 1:21:27culminate with a Seance. 1 stormy night.
- 1:21:31The Perrons, Roger and Carolyn, along with the Warrens were
- 1:21:36joined by a priest and a fellow medium to conduct a seance to
- 1:21:41try and establish further contact with the entities within
- 1:21:44the home. To understand just why they were
- 1:21:48plaguing the family, the girls were confined to their rooms
- 1:21:51upstairs. We're not allowed to partake in
- 1:21:54the ritual. The ritual was conducted in the
- 1:21:57basement, one of the alleged sources of the dark energy
- 1:22:02according to Lorraine Warren, and in the middle of this
- 1:22:05ritual, Carolyn seemingly became possessed as she exhibited
- 1:22:11violent behavior. She was restrained to a chair in
- 1:22:14order to prevent her from hurting herself and others.
- 1:22:18The entity that now inhabited her body claimed to be that of
- 1:22:22Bathsheba and before everyone's eyes that was present, Carolyn
- 1:22:27began to not only speak a language that was
- 1:22:30unrecognizable, but in a voice that wasn't her own.
- 1:22:35She then began to levitate in the chair and flew across the
- 1:22:39room. Although they were forbid to
- 1:22:42witness the event, as Kiri's children often do, Andrea, along
- 1:22:48with her sister Cindy, snuck open the basement door and
- 1:22:51watched the events unfold for themselves.
- 1:22:55Their testimonies are also where some of these details are
- 1:22:58sourced from. Carolyn was now mangled and
- 1:23:03distorted, her body twisted in an unnatural position.
- 1:23:09After several hours of attempting to cast the spirit
- 1:23:11out, she finally went limp and laid catatonic on the floor.
- 1:23:18After his wife had seemingly been freed, Roger called the
- 1:23:22entire thing off. He was not only concerned for
- 1:23:25his wife's well-being, but his children's as well.
- 1:23:30And although the Warrens were trying to help, things just
- 1:23:33seemed to get so much worse when they were there.
- 1:23:37So disregarding their advice, he threw them out and forbid them
- 1:23:41and their associates from ever investigating the hauntings at
- 1:23:45the old Arnold estate ever again.
- 1:23:49Later in life, a 77 year old Roger would recall she was
- 1:23:54possessed. Her entire body was distorted
- 1:23:58and it lasted several hours until they de demonized her.
- 1:24:03Then I threw them out. I couldn't take it anymore.
- 1:24:08The family's torment would continue with varying intensity
- 1:24:12until 1980, when they were finally able to sell the old
- 1:24:16Arnold Estate and move to Georgia in a bid to rebuild
- 1:24:20their lives. Finally, they were free of the
- 1:24:23horrible events that had plagued them for nearly a decade.
- 1:24:28But all those happenings, all those traumatic moments would
- 1:24:32never be forgotten by any of them.
- 1:24:35They all realized that they were truly lucky to have escaped with
- 1:24:39their lives as well as their sanity.
- 1:24:43Going back and not only reading various interviews, Andrea
- 1:24:47Peron's books, and watching interviews with the family, they
- 1:24:51not only seemed genuine, but really had nothing to gain by
- 1:24:54claiming to have experienced these things.
- 1:24:57It truly seemed like they had suffered.
- 1:24:59I mean, they threw out the Warrens, which is interesting in
- 1:25:02and of itself, but if I saw my wife twisted and exhibiting
- 1:25:07demonic behavior, I probably would be pretty freaked out as
- 1:25:11well. The story of the haunting of the
- 1:25:13old Arnold Estate and the Peron family was used as the basis for
- 1:25:17The Conjuring movie, in which they were also used as
- 1:25:21consultants for accuracy's sake. And the film does of course take
- 1:25:26liberties, as most Hollywood films do, but it's a good one
- 1:25:30for sure. But having watched this video,
- 1:25:33you're now probably aware of what really happened.
- 1:25:37Since the selling of the home, reviews have been mixed by other
- 1:25:40residents, with one lady claiming that the home wasn't
- 1:25:43haunted at all and even condemning and suing The
- 1:25:47Conjuring film makers for causing her distress through
- 1:25:50trespassers, and others stating that the home is still very
- 1:25:54well, haunted indeed. More current owners, who we'll
- 1:25:59call Cory and Jennifer, welcomed the spirits and the history of
- 1:26:03the home when they moved in, claiming to have only slept in
- 1:26:07the smaller wing of the estate for the first four months that
- 1:26:09they lived there. They didn't want to overstep
- 1:26:12their boundaries with whatever was haunting the property.
- 1:26:16When they finally opened up the door to the wing of the larger
- 1:26:19part of the house the very same night, they both claimed to be
- 1:26:23woken up by a shadowy figure. Their couple would say that it
- 1:26:27was pitch black in color and peeking at them from behind the
- 1:26:31door frame. Although most people would be
- 1:26:34terrified at the prospect of dealing with a shadow figure of
- 1:26:37any sort, the couple understood that they were guests in this
- 1:26:41home even though they had purchased it.
- 1:26:44And we're just excited to have experienced anything.
- 1:26:48But they also admit that although they do continue to
- 1:26:50experience strange things from time to time, it's nothing like
- 1:26:54what the Perrons say. They experienced nothing quite
- 1:26:58as malevolent or evil by any means.
- 1:27:02Despite criticism and support, the Perrons to this day remain
- 1:27:07adamant that their story is true, with Andrea saying in an
- 1:27:11interview with USA TODAY. Both my mother and I would soon
- 1:27:15swallow our tongue and tell a lie.
- 1:27:18People are free to believe whatever they want, but we know
- 1:27:21what we've experienced prior to her death.
- 1:27:25When asked about the events of the Haunting Lorraine, Warren
- 1:27:29claimed that she still felt traumatized all these years
- 1:27:32later about what had taken place that stormy night during the
- 1:27:35seance at the Old Arnold Estate, saying that the things that
- 1:27:40happened there were so incredibly frightening, but it
- 1:27:43still effects me to talk about it to this day.
- 1:27:46She, of course, was reunited with Ed on April 18th of 2019.
- 1:27:52God rest her soul. These days, people who have
- 1:27:56visited the house, such as various paranormal groups,
- 1:27:59researchers, and fans of The Conjuring Universe, have
- 1:28:03described feeling multiple things for stepping in the home.
- 1:28:07Some claiming to see shadow figures, others a feeling of a
- 1:28:12heavy presence to the points where it makes them nauseous.
- 1:28:16Regardless, there certainly does seem to be something there all
- 1:28:21around. I think the haunting, given all
- 1:28:23the research I've done is more than likely legitimate.
- 1:28:27There's too many sources backing up what took place.
- 1:28:30Not to mention the family didn't gain anything from experiencing
- 1:28:34what they did, and surviving members still claim it's all
- 1:28:38true to this day. If you'd like to learn more, I'm
- 1:28:42listing the sources I used for research in the description
- 1:28:45below, as well as various links to Andrea Peron's books which
- 1:28:50tell the full story of her and her family.
- 1:28:53I of course, am not affiliated with her or anyone else involved
- 1:28:57in any way. I just find them to be an
- 1:28:59interesting and very useful resource.
- 1:29:03So if you find yourself in hard times and are presented with
- 1:29:06what seems like a gift from the universe, just know that if it's
- 1:29:11too good to be true, it probably is.
- 1:29:15And the dream home that you can't wait to live in could be
- 1:29:18infested with generations of death and despair demons which
- 1:29:24could still be lurking and stalking the property.
- 1:29:29So my advice? If it sounds too good to be
- 1:29:32true, it is. And please research a home's
- 1:29:37history before you buy it, or you may be stuck with a decade
- 1:29:41of paranormal torment. Or worse, you may become its
- 1:29:46newest permanent resident. Can death unleash something into
- 1:29:54this world that isn't supposed to be here?
- 1:29:58Could it act like a portal, allowing something sinister and
- 1:30:01dark to creep in just before it closes, especially if the person
- 1:30:07passing is harboring dark and abhorrent secrets?
- 1:30:12When a young man begins to exhibit strange and demonic
- 1:30:15behavior and the very laws of nature seem to bend to his will,
- 1:30:20can a reverend work to save his very soul?
- 1:30:24Documented by multiple law enforcement professionals as
- 1:30:28unexplained to this day, this is certainly not a story you will
- 1:30:32want to miss. This is the untold story of Don
- 1:30:36Decker, also known as the Rain Man of Pennsylvania.
- 1:30:44The date is February 24th, 1983 and on this cold, misty day, a
- 1:30:52family is mourning the loss of their loved 1A man by the name
- 1:30:59of James Keshaw. After battling alcoholism for
- 1:31:03many years, the bottle finally took its toll and caused
- 1:31:07cirrhosis of the liver which became fatal.
- 1:31:11Among the pews of friends and family paying their respects
- 1:31:16sits a young man, the grandson of James, 21 year old Don
- 1:31:22Decker. Donna Be granted furlough from
- 1:31:25his four to 12 month jail sentence for receiving stolen
- 1:31:29property in order to attend the funeral.
- 1:31:32But as he sat facing the body of his grandfather as others paid
- 1:31:37their last respects and gave glowing speeches about the man,
- 1:31:42Don clenched his fists. Only he harbored a dark secret
- 1:31:47that no one else knew, and this secret is perhaps what
- 1:31:51contributed to his troubled adolescence.
- 1:31:55When it was his turn to walk up and say goodbye to James.
- 1:32:00As he stood over his body, the face of evil looked back at him
- 1:32:05with eyes closed for the first time.
- 1:32:08Dom would later say it felt like good triumphing over evil that
- 1:32:13day. And I truly felt like everything
- 1:32:16was going to get better, like it was a turning point in my life.
- 1:32:22The secret that he had been holding on to for so long was
- 1:32:26that James, his very own grandfather, had abused him from
- 1:32:30the time he was seven years old until he was a teenager and no
- 1:32:35one else knew. All the years of pain and fear
- 1:32:39were caused by that man. The very same that now laid in
- 1:32:43the coffin. The very same that Dawn was now
- 1:32:47having to hear others praise and who he was publicly obligated to
- 1:32:53mourn. At the conclusion of the
- 1:32:55funeral, when James casket was laid into its final resting
- 1:32:59place, he couldn't stand the way his parents had glorified the
- 1:33:03man's memory. But given the circumstances he
- 1:33:06was in, furloughed from jail and with emotions raw amongst
- 1:33:11everybody, he decided it would be for the best to go and stay
- 1:33:15the night with some family friends instead before he was
- 1:33:19set to return to finish out his sentence.
- 1:33:22Bob and Jeannie Kiefer were long time friends of the family and
- 1:33:27were quite fond of Dawn, so they were more than happy to have him
- 1:33:30join them for the night. As the night progressed, the
- 1:33:34three of them were enjoying each other's company, but it seemed
- 1:33:38like all the feelings that have been stirred up from the
- 1:33:41memories of his grandfather's abuse at the funeral were coming
- 1:33:45back to haunt Dawn. He fell on edge and uneasy when
- 1:33:50suddenly the air around him vibrated with a bone deep chill.
- 1:33:56Almost simultaneously after this occurred, water began to drip
- 1:34:00from the ceiling and down the living room walls.
- 1:34:04Don then fell into an eerie trance like state, staring at
- 1:34:09nothing and yet everything at the same time.
- 1:34:13The Kiefer's were perplexed at what was happening and tried
- 1:34:16examining all reasonable possibilities.
- 1:34:20Thinking they had a leak, they contacted their landlord, a man
- 1:34:24named Ron Van Wy. Upon arriving, Ron too quickly
- 1:34:29became perplexed. The leak, or so they thought,
- 1:34:33was obvious. But what was strange to him was
- 1:34:37that there was no piping that ran through the front part of
- 1:34:40the house. Certainly none that could spring
- 1:34:43a leak from the ceiling or the walls.
- 1:34:46None at all. On top of this strangeness, when
- 1:34:50observing the water's direction, Ron noticed that there was
- 1:34:54indeed no sense of direction. The water was not only coming
- 1:34:59from the top, down from the ceiling in the walls, but it was
- 1:35:03going from the floor and up the walls and direct contradiction
- 1:35:08to the laws of gravity and to anything that he had ever seen.
- 1:35:13Shocked and needing multiple witnesses to assure himself that
- 1:35:17he wasn't crazy, Ron phoned his wife Romaine to come and take a
- 1:35:22look as well. Upon her arrival, she was just
- 1:35:26as perplexed and became scared of what was happening since it
- 1:35:30defied all logic and the leak, or so they thought, only became
- 1:35:36worse. So the landlords did the only
- 1:35:39thing that they could do, they called the police.
- 1:35:43Shortly after that call, a patrol car arrived with Officer
- 1:35:47John Beaujin, who, after briefly stepping inside the home, became
- 1:35:51drenched in water and also witnessed the bizarre,
- 1:35:55otherworldly activity to which he had no explanation for
- 1:36:00either. So to prove his sanity and to
- 1:36:03back up a report, he called upon his partner, an officer named
- 1:36:09Richard Volbert. When Richard arrived, he wanted
- 1:36:13to be briefed on exactly what was going on.
- 1:36:16The Bojan didn't want to give him any sort of a preconceived
- 1:36:19notion and just told him to trust him on this one.
- 1:36:23After some back and forth, Richard finally conceded and
- 1:36:27followed John into the key for residence.
- 1:36:30He would later describe the incident as.
- 1:36:32So I walked in the door, I couldn't have gotten 2 steps in
- 1:36:37the door and I was pelted by water as we were discussing a
- 1:36:41potential leak and as we were being told that there were no
- 1:36:44pipes in that part of the house. As we stood just inside the
- 1:36:48house a droplet of water was traveling horizontally and
- 1:36:54passed right between US and out into the next room.
- 1:36:58As I retell this story I have a chill up my spine and the hair
- 1:37:03on my neck is standing up. John would go on to say things
- 1:37:08were happening in this house that I couldn't have ever
- 1:37:11possibly dreamed of happening and there was no way to explain
- 1:37:15what was going on. Shocked by what they were
- 1:37:18witnessing, the two officers asked the family to step outside
- 1:37:22of the house and out of the water while they left to report
- 1:37:25the incident to the chief himself.
- 1:37:28The Wise decided to stay at the property while the Kiefer's and
- 1:37:32Don walked across the street to a local restaurant for something
- 1:37:36to eat. Within seconds of everyone
- 1:37:39departing, the water suddenly stopped within the house, and
- 1:37:43aside from the home being drenched, it was back to normal.
- 1:37:47No more dripping water and no more mist.
- 1:37:52This left Ron and his wife, only to speculate that whatever was
- 1:37:55happening was coming from one of the three, because when they
- 1:37:59left, so did it. Pam Scrofano, who owned the
- 1:38:04pizzeria opposite the Kiefer's house where the three ended up
- 1:38:08in, was a friend of the Kiefer's and knew Dawn as well.
- 1:38:12Upon greeting the three of them, she noticed that Dawn was
- 1:38:16distant, like he was looking at you, but looking through you, a
- 1:38:22deeply religious woman. She sent something evil about
- 1:38:25him, like the devil was working through Dawn Decker and
- 1:38:30recommended that they contact someone at the church for help.
- 1:38:34Within mere seconds of mentioning this, droplets of
- 1:38:38water hit the table in front of them, and soon the very same
- 1:38:43phenomena that was originally happening in the house was also
- 1:38:47now taking place inside the pizzeria.
- 1:38:51Sensing this evil Pam ran to the cash register where she had an
- 1:38:56old cross necklace. She took it out and placed it
- 1:39:00around Don's neck. As soon as it touched his skin,
- 1:39:04he got burned. He began to scream and pulled
- 1:39:08the necklace off of him. It was charred black.
- 1:39:13As the trio departed the pizzeria and headed back to
- 1:39:16their home, the strange activity inside once again ceased.
- 1:39:22It's important to note that nothing like this had ever
- 1:39:25happened at the Kiefer residence or Pam's Pizzeria.
- 1:39:29No plumbing issues, nothing that could be considered even
- 1:39:33remotely similar. Convening inside the home once
- 1:39:36again, they met Ron and his wife.
- 1:39:39Ron suspected that Don had something to do with what was
- 1:39:42happening, and after some discussion, an argument erupted
- 1:39:46among the group. This led to Jeannie screaming at
- 1:39:50Don, telling him that they knew it was him, that he had to make
- 1:39:54all of this stop. After the words left her mouth,
- 1:39:59the pots and pans above the stove began to shake, and the
- 1:40:03lights around them began to flicker.
- 1:40:07Don Decker. Was no longer in control of his
- 1:40:11body. Everyone watched in horror as
- 1:40:15Don levitated multiple feet into the air and rotated several
- 1:40:20times. He was then thrown out of the
- 1:40:23kitchen where they were and into an entirely different room.
- 1:40:28Don himself would later recount the event like this.
- 1:40:32It wasn't like someone grabbing your hand or picking you up.
- 1:40:36I felt this force over my entire body.
- 1:40:40I'm a big man and I've always been assertive, but this,
- 1:40:44whatever this was, made me feel like a newborn child.
- 1:40:49I'm scared right now just thinking about it.
- 1:40:52Don now laid unconscious on the floor and the rain began again.
- 1:40:58The wise and the kiefers were an absolute shock and disbelief at
- 1:41:02what had just taken place. They knew it was tied to dawn,
- 1:41:07but they had no idea just what it was, but they felt that it
- 1:41:11was evil. A few hours after the strange
- 1:41:15incident witnessed by the police officers, they arrived back at
- 1:41:18the residence alongside their very heated police chief.
- 1:41:23As he made his way into the home with the two officers behind
- 1:41:26him, he too was pelted with water just as they had been.
- 1:41:30Now first probably feeling like he was on the spot and perhaps
- 1:41:34slightly embarrassed, he claimed that this wasn't even a police
- 1:41:38issue, but a plumbing issue, despite then being told that
- 1:41:42there were no pipes in that part of the house, and this was even
- 1:41:46confirmed by blueprints of the home.
- 1:41:49After taking a look around at the rest of the home, which was
- 1:41:52bone dry, the chief then angrily ordered the two officers to
- 1:41:56escort him back home. He would be the only officer
- 1:42:00that night to not admit to anything strange happening.
- 1:42:04He then directed Officers John and Richard to not file a report
- 1:42:09and to not speak about the incident at all, but word would
- 1:42:13get out the following morning. Acting against the specific
- 1:42:18orders from their chief, the two officers returned to the
- 1:42:21residence along with three veteran officers as well.
- 1:42:25They too would see and experience the bizarre rain
- 1:42:28inside the home. So they decided to try something
- 1:42:32to attempt to get to the bottom of what exactly was going on.
- 1:42:36They asked if they could place a paper bag over Don's head, to
- 1:42:40which Don agreed. This was so he would have no way
- 1:42:43of seeing anything. He'd have no preconceived
- 1:42:47notions of what could be placed on him or in his hands.
- 1:42:51They then placed a gold cross necklace from one of the
- 1:42:54officers into his hand. Lieutenant William Davies, one
- 1:43:00of the officers present who placed the cross into his hand,
- 1:43:04described the incident like this.
- 1:43:07As soon as the necklace touched his palm, he said it burned him.
- 1:43:12He would have had no idea what it was.
- 1:43:15I saw what I believe to be smoke of some sort coming from the
- 1:43:19necklace or his hand. As he dropped the necklace.
- 1:43:22I picked it up and it was hot. Not burning hot, but hot enough
- 1:43:28to concern me. Then suddenly with the force, as
- 1:43:33if a bus hit him, he lifted up and was thrown across the room,
- 1:43:38hitting the back wall. Upon removing the bag from him,
- 1:43:42he was clearly dazed and had three bloody and fresh claw
- 1:43:47marks across his neck. I've been a cop for 40 years and
- 1:43:51I've never ran into anything like this ever.
- 1:43:55Never before and never again after.
- 1:43:59There's always an explanation, but in this case there was no
- 1:44:04explanation. The police would later leave
- 1:44:08again with no answers as to what was taking place, believing it
- 1:44:12to be a spiritual matter. Don was placed on the couch in
- 1:44:16the living room where the rain continued to go from mist to
- 1:44:20showers at random and varying times.
- 1:44:25After making multiple desperate calls to every Protestant and
- 1:44:29Catholic religious leader in Shroudsburg, only one didn't
- 1:44:33turn them down. Ron was able to convince an
- 1:44:36evangelical preacher, who went by the name of Reverend Johnson,
- 1:44:40to come over and pray with Dawn. As she arrived and began to
- 1:44:45pray, the rest of the group held hands and vigil and did what
- 1:44:50they could to support her. As the first words left her
- 1:44:53lips, Dawn began to convulse and shake.
- 1:44:58The rain intensified and his body began to twist into
- 1:45:03unnatural positions, but as she continued, he slowly but surely
- 1:45:09began to relax and the rain seemed to stop.
- 1:45:15Although those present believed that a miracle had been
- 1:45:17performed, the results of that prayer session would only prove
- 1:45:22temporary, perhaps placing into hibernation whatever was inside
- 1:45:28Don Decker. Once his furlough was over, Don
- 1:45:32Decker returned back to jail to finish his sentence and within
- 1:45:36just a few days the mysterious rain returned.
- 1:45:40Upon his return to jail, Dom was placed in a cell with another
- 1:45:44inmate and had the thought enter his mind that if he could make
- 1:45:48it rain in the cell, perhaps he could get to be alone.
- 1:45:53Almost as soon as he thought that, the rain began.
- 1:45:57It was materializing out of the concrete floor and flowing
- 1:46:02upward. The other inmate was horrified
- 1:46:06and screamed for the guards to let him out.
- 1:46:09Thinking they had some kind of plumbing issue.
- 1:46:11The guards opened the cell and removed that inmate as well as
- 1:46:15Decker. At first he was accused of
- 1:46:18throwing water onto the walls from the sink or from the toilet
- 1:46:22by the guards, but upon these accusations Don rebuttal with I
- 1:46:27can control it. This time the feeling was
- 1:46:30different. This time he felt powerful and
- 1:46:34in control. Upon hearing this, the guard
- 1:46:38laughed and said if you can control this rain, make it rain
- 1:46:42in the warden's office. An offer that Don couldn't
- 1:46:45refuse. The warden would then describe
- 1:46:49what happened and these are the words of Lieutenant Warden David
- 1:46:53Keenhold. I was in my office filling out
- 1:46:56paperwork with no one else around.
- 1:46:58It was approximately 8:00 PM in the evening.
- 1:47:01I didn't notice it at that time, but my shirt was dripping down.
- 1:47:06I heard a knock at the door and little did I know that it was
- 1:47:09the same officer that was just with Don Decker.
- 1:47:12I wasn't aware of the situation at the time.
- 1:47:15He told me to look at my shirt and there was no explanation as
- 1:47:19to where the water could have come from.
- 1:47:21The officer then became very frightened of what had happened
- 1:47:25and after explaining the situation to me, I too became
- 1:47:29frightened. Shortly after the rain in the
- 1:47:31warden's office, a frantic call was placed to a local chaplain,
- 1:47:36a man named Reverend William Blackburn.
- 1:47:39He soon found himself shaking hands with the warden and
- 1:47:42several officers as he was escorted into the jail and into
- 1:47:46an empty cell. Within minutes he came face to
- 1:47:49face with Don Decker, who by this time was beginning to fear
- 1:47:54the feeling he had inside of him.
- 1:47:57That powerful and evil feeling. He was now asking for the
- 1:48:01Reverend's help and freeing him of whatever this thing was.
- 1:48:06Blackburn wasn't convinced at first.
- 1:48:09He told Decker that his life would be much easier if he just
- 1:48:12stopped all this nonsense and attention seeking.
- 1:48:16He would go on later to describe the situation like this.
- 1:48:19Almost immediately after I accused him, Don's demeanor
- 1:48:23changed. The glazed look came over him,
- 1:48:27and a horrible smell entered the room.
- 1:48:29Doctors, nurses, and medical personnel will tell you that
- 1:48:34when you walk into a room when there's someone dying of disease
- 1:48:37or of cancer, there's a smell to it.
- 1:48:41I smelled that smell multiplied by at least five times.
- 1:48:46It was evil and foreboding. Don's glazed expression then
- 1:48:51switched to one of malice and calculation.
- 1:48:54He exclaimed. I have powers that you don't and
- 1:48:58I can make it rain. He then raised his hand and
- 1:49:02rubbed his fingers together and it started to rain inside that
- 1:49:06cell. It was like a devil's rain, a
- 1:49:09mist. I was in the presence of evil.
- 1:49:13I started opening my Bible to begin to pray and Don said I
- 1:49:18don't want you to pray for me, to which I decided to anyways.
- 1:49:22I started to read to him and the strange thing is that even
- 1:49:26though I was soaked, the pages of my Bible never got wet and
- 1:49:31that was truly frightening. Although the session was short,
- 1:49:35upon uttering the words that he was now bound in the name of
- 1:49:38Jesus Christ, the rain stopped and a peace overtook dawn.
- 1:49:44When he finally came to, he thanked the reverend with tears
- 1:49:48in his eyes, and the two hugged and prayed together again.
- 1:49:54In the words of Reverend Blackburn, there is no doubt in
- 1:49:57my mind that he was possessed. No human being could do what he
- 1:50:01did in that room. There is no way that he did
- 1:50:04anything to fool me whatsoever. Whatever happened was spiritual
- 1:50:09and it was not from God. I can guarantee you that it was
- 1:50:13not from God. From this moment forward, the
- 1:50:16rain has stopped for now. Don Decker would later say that
- 1:50:21he takes things day by day and that fortunately, the rain
- 1:50:25hasn't returned. As for his grandfather, he
- 1:50:29thinks whatever happened was related to him.
- 1:50:32He thinks that considering where he thinks he ended up, maybe he
- 1:50:36was able to make a deal with someone and have yet another
- 1:50:40chance to abuse him. What makes this case so unique
- 1:50:44and interesting is that all the people involved are credible
- 1:50:48people. I mean, we have some family
- 1:50:50friends, sure, but they stated they had nothing take place in
- 1:50:54that house prior to Don's arrival that morning.
- 1:50:57We have the landlord of the family's home and his wife not
- 1:51:01only reaffirming that there weren't any prior issues, but
- 1:51:04that there were no pipes in that area of the house.
- 1:51:08We then have six police officers, including the chief
- 1:51:11over the case experienced the phenomena and he was the only
- 1:51:15one that said that nothing took place.
- 1:51:17We have a business owner where the phenomena took place at her
- 1:51:20establishment as well. Then several guards at the jail
- 1:51:24and which he goes back to finish serving his time witness things
- 1:51:28and the warden of the jail himself and the police officers,
- 1:51:32three of them were seasoned lieutenants I might add, and
- 1:51:35anyone with a proper reputation unless they really experienced
- 1:51:39something would risk that in my opinion.
- 1:51:43So was it demonic infestation? Possession, poltergeist
- 1:51:48activity, or something else entirely?
- 1:51:51When we have so many credible eyewitnesses recanting the same
- 1:51:55details, saying what they saw, experienced and felt was a
- 1:52:00phenomena not of this world, it truly makes you wonder.
- 1:52:05And if it wasn't spiritual, could Don's childhood trauma
- 1:52:09have allowed him to break into a part of the mind that could
- 1:52:12somehow 'cause these kinds of things allow him to manipulate
- 1:52:16the weather of his surroundings, move objects, and even cause
- 1:52:21harm to himself? We may never truly know the
- 1:52:24answers to this mystery in particular, and it very much
- 1:52:28still is a mystery to this day. As far as an update on Don
- 1:52:32Decker, besides multiple show appearances and interviews to
- 1:52:36discuss his story over the years, the last known activity
- 1:52:40that I could find of him was that back in 2012, he was
- 1:52:44charged with arson of a local restaurant in the Poconos
- 1:52:47Mountains of Pennsylvania. It seems like perhaps he was
- 1:52:51paid to set fire to the establishment by the owner,
- 1:52:54maybe for insurance fraud. As far as the outcome of the
- 1:52:57case, I couldn't find additional details.
- 1:53:01Perhaps whatever evil that was inside Dawn got the best of him
- 1:53:05at this time. Or, you know, we're all human,
- 1:53:09we do make mistakes without otherworldly influence as well.
- 1:53:12Just the thought. Wherever he is, I do have to say
- 1:53:16that his story is an amazing and intriguing one and I wish him
- 1:53:20nothing but the best. I'd also like to say thank you
- 1:53:24guys for watching this video. Without you guys, this channel
- 1:53:28was just me making videos that I find interesting at home at my
- 1:53:32computer, and I really can't hammer home how much your
- 1:53:35support means to me. It seems like YouTube doesn't
- 1:53:39always want to promote my content, and that's been a big
- 1:53:42uphill battle over the last four years.
- 1:53:44So when you choose to watch Mystery Archives, just know it
- 1:53:48helps me out much more than you could ever know.
- 1:54:02Rob and Vicki Graves had found what appeared to be their dream
- 1:54:05home. Looking to escape the big city
- 1:54:08life and take up a more rural one for themselves and their two
- 1:54:12teenage sons, they found Fox Hollow Farm and were shocked at
- 1:54:17how affordable it was for the sheer size and quality of the
- 1:54:20property. Sensing that it was too good to
- 1:54:22be true, they asked what could possibly be wrong with it
- 1:54:26because at a passing glance it seemed absolutely gorgeous.
- 1:54:31Then it came to Rob. He had remembered the name from
- 1:54:35a news broadcast many years ago. Unbeknownst to him and his wife,
- 1:54:40they were now standing on the very same grounds that were once
- 1:54:43owned by Herb Baumeister, the notorious serial killer.
- 1:54:48They immediately brought this up to the real estate agent who was
- 1:54:51showing them the property and were immediately told that that
- 1:54:54was indeed the case. That the private investor had
- 1:54:58indeed purchased the estate from the widow of Herb following the
- 1:55:01disturbing discovery of the bodies back in the 1990s, but
- 1:55:06that it had been completely remodeled from head to toe,
- 1:55:09removing any and all remnants of what it looked like when the
- 1:55:13murders had taken place all those years ago.
- 1:55:16But that's why it was indeed so affordable, because no one
- 1:55:19wanted to live there due to the history.
- 1:55:23After some further discussion among the couple, they
- 1:55:26ultimately decided to purchase the property.
- 1:55:29Within a couple weeks, the family moves in and falls in
- 1:55:33love with Fox Hollow Farm. The teenage sons soon make it a
- 1:55:37habit to play outside and then wash off in the pool in the
- 1:55:40basement, soon tracking dirt and gravel all throughout the home.
- 1:55:45One day, Vicki is vacuuming up the dirt that the boys had
- 1:55:49brought in from the outside around the pool when suddenly
- 1:55:54her vacuum loses power. Believing that perhaps she had
- 1:55:57accidentally unplugged it from the outlet, she plugged it back
- 1:56:00in and continued her work. Within several more minutes, it
- 1:56:05happened again. Perplexed this time because she
- 1:56:09was even more aware and careful about the cord in the outlet.
- 1:56:13She knew she hadn't unplugged it, so she plugged it back in
- 1:56:17and triple checked that it wasn't just falling out of the
- 1:56:19outlet by pulling the cord. Evermore aware this time she
- 1:56:23goes back to vacuuming but keeping a present eye on the
- 1:56:27cord itself and to her amazement it pulls out on its own as if
- 1:56:32someone had grabbed and pulled it out of the socket.
- 1:56:36Startled, she drops the vacuum and was beside herself.
- 1:56:40She doesn't know how to make sense of what had just happened
- 1:56:44and this would just be the beginning of the strangeness
- 1:56:47that would occur. Rob worked at a car dealership
- 1:56:51and one of his employees was a man named Joe Joe had been a
- 1:56:55great employee, but had a problem of being chronically
- 1:56:58late most of the time. As he probed to figure out what
- 1:57:01was going on, Joe informed Rob that he lived over an hour away
- 1:57:06and really needed the job and would be willing to move closer
- 1:57:09if the opportunity presented itself.
- 1:57:12Well, Rob thought about it and ended up offering Joe a place to
- 1:57:16rent. Located on Fox Hollow Farm, they
- 1:57:19had a guest house that they were considering renting out as
- 1:57:22apartments for quite some time, and this seemed like the perfect
- 1:57:26opportunity to benefit everyone involved.
- 1:57:29Joe would indeed move in just a few days later.
- 1:57:32It takes several hours, but within that time frame they're
- 1:57:35able to get everything inside and finish the move.
- 1:57:39Exhausted, Joe decides to retire for the night with his dog Fred.
- 1:57:44As he lays down to sleep in his newly set up bed, he then finds
- 1:57:48himself in a horrific nightmare. He's being chased throughout Fox
- 1:57:52Hollow Farm by something he can't see.
- 1:57:56The dream is so intense that it causes him to sleepwalk, which
- 1:58:00wasn't something that he was known to do.
- 1:58:03He began to run while still dreaming and ran directly into
- 1:58:07the door frame as he tried to escape the guest house.
- 1:58:11Falling back, he knocked into a nearby glass of water, which
- 1:58:15fell and shattered, cutting his hands.
- 1:58:18The impact and cutting of his hands finally woke him up and he
- 1:58:22was forced to sit back and ponder just what had taken
- 1:58:25place. And fangs would only intensify
- 1:58:28from here another day. Soon after, Rob was painting the
- 1:58:32side of their home a different color.
- 1:58:35As he and his wife remarked on how nice the finished job will
- 1:58:38be, she spots something out of the corner of her eye.
- 1:58:42She had seen a man in a red shirt staring at them.
- 1:58:45As she broke away from her husband and began to approach
- 1:58:48the figure, it started to walk away from her and quickly
- 1:58:52disappeared as if it never existed.
- 1:58:55The couple then called out and checked the perimeter but never
- 1:58:59found anyone. They dismissed the person as
- 1:59:02nothing more than a curious trespasser.
- 1:59:05I mean, after all, they did purchase a serial killer's home.
- 1:59:09They just had to accept that curious people may sneak up just
- 1:59:12to get a look at their home. Later that night, Joe was doing
- 1:59:16the dishes in his apartment when he suddenly gets a series of
- 1:59:20knocks on his front door, telling the person it'll just be
- 1:59:24a minute. As he drives his hands off to go
- 1:59:26and answer the door, the series of knocks begin to grow louder
- 1:59:31and more aggressive. Thinking it was extremely
- 1:59:34strange or extremely urgent concerning Vicki or Rob, he went
- 1:59:39and answered the doors. It was still being knocked upon.
- 1:59:42However, as he opened the door, there was no one to be found.
- 1:59:48Automatically on guard, he peers outside.
- 1:59:51The knocking had been happening when he answered the door, so no
- 1:59:54person could have got very far while he answered.
- 1:59:57Mid knock he glanced around and yet saw and heard nothing.
- 2:00:03He stepped outside and began to examine the roof in the nearby
- 2:00:07areas and still there was nothing.
- 2:00:11Thoroughly weirded out at this point, he made his way back
- 2:00:14inside and bolted, the door locked behind him.
- 2:00:18He started to make his way back to the kitchen to finish doing
- 2:00:20his dishes when he spotted a man standing in his bedroom staring
- 2:00:26at him. Upon spotting the figure, his
- 2:00:29dog begins to growl and make sounds that he's never heard him
- 2:00:33make before, staring directly in the direction of the bedroom.
- 2:00:38Already on edge, he ran into the bedroom and flipped the light on
- 2:00:43only to discover that there was again no one there.
- 2:00:48Searching the entire apartment, he again found nothing.
- 2:00:52Trying to rationalize and clear his mind, he decided to take his
- 2:00:56dog Fred for a walk to calm down and unwind for the evening.
- 2:01:02While on his walk around the property, he thought to check on
- 2:01:05Rob and Vicki's house to see if the lights were on.
- 2:01:09This would indicate to him that perhaps they were the ones who
- 2:01:11had knocked on his door and therefore he could rest easy and
- 2:01:15figure out what it was about. The following morning.
- 2:01:18However, upon arriving at their house, he found it completely
- 2:01:22blacked out. They had already gone to bed for
- 2:01:25the night. Fred, who was always a loyal and
- 2:01:28obedient dog, always walked with him without a leash and would
- 2:01:33always follow his commands. However, tonight would be a
- 2:01:37different story. Deciding to head back to his
- 2:01:40apartment, he motioned for Fred to join him, but the dog would
- 2:01:44not budget. He suddenly began to growl and
- 2:01:47then bolted into the nearby tree line.
- 2:01:51Instinctively, Joe ran after his dog, but not before seeing what
- 2:01:55his dog was running after. Before his eyes and the very
- 2:01:59same tree line was a man in a red shirt.
- 2:02:03Although he was absolutely terrified, Joe couldn't let
- 2:02:06anything happen to his beloved dog, so he continued to run
- 2:02:10towards this man, when suddenly whoever or whatever this was
- 2:02:16disappeared before his eyes, although slightly behind.
- 2:02:21He would quickly catch up to Fred and now noticed him not
- 2:02:25acting aggressive at all, but rather showing his belly in
- 2:02:28submission, staring in the direction of Joe.
- 2:02:32Joe, knowing his dog, knew that something very strange had to be
- 2:02:37up with him. He suddenly felt as if someone
- 2:02:40was staring directly at him. He slowly turned around to see
- 2:02:44the apparition of a man in a red shirt with a twisted face
- 2:02:50staring back at him just several feet away.
- 2:02:54Joe, as most of us would, ran out of there as fast as he
- 2:02:58could, his loyal companion following him.
- 2:03:02The two run as fast as they can back to the apartment, where
- 2:03:05they rush inside, lock and deadbolt the door, and nervously
- 2:03:10watch out of the blinds for the rest of the night.
- 2:03:13The following morning, and even more exhausted, Joe makes his
- 2:03:16way to Vicki and Rob's house to discuss the prior night's
- 2:03:19events. As he's telling both of them
- 2:03:22what happened, Vicki starts to become emotional.
- 2:03:26She too would seen the man in red just days earlier.
- 2:03:29She points to where she saw him and Loan, and behold, it's the
- 2:03:33exact same spot that Joe had encountered the entity the night
- 2:03:37before. As the day progressed tonight,
- 2:03:40Joe yet again found himself in his apartment, hoping to finally
- 2:03:44get some rest. But as he settled down in his
- 2:03:47bed, he was suddenly startled by knocking at his door.
- 2:03:52As he yelled out who is it? As he made his way towards the
- 2:03:55door, he didn't receive an audible answer back, just more
- 2:04:00aggressive knocking at the door. The door itself now is shaking.
- 2:04:06Facing his fear of the unknown, mid knock Joe throws the door
- 2:04:10open only to meet face to face with nothing.
- 2:04:16As he frantically looks around the yard while holding the door,
- 2:04:20he notices that the doors knocking apparatus is sticking
- 2:04:23straight out as if someone is holding it.
- 2:04:28It then drops one last time knocking the door.
- 2:04:32Absolutely petrified, Joe slams the door and locks it.
- 2:04:36As he tries to catch his breath and take several steps
- 2:04:39backwards, he sees the door knob begin to turn.
- 2:04:43Then, without warning, the door bursts open, shattering the
- 2:04:48lock. The open door, yet again,
- 2:04:51reveals no one. After a moment of frozen terror,
- 2:04:55Joe runs outside and into the front yard of his apartment,
- 2:04:59screaming and searching all around for just who could be
- 2:05:02doing this. After several minutes, he stares
- 2:05:06back into the house to the open front door and sees a man
- 2:05:10dressed in all white standing there.
- 2:05:12He soaked from head to toe in what appears to be water and is
- 2:05:16screaming in a muted voice as if he's being held underwater.
- 2:05:21He then bolts towards Joe and seemingly disappears into a
- 2:05:25mist, frantically calling out to his dog Fred to accompany him.
- 2:05:30Joe frantically makes his way to Rob and Vicki's house on the
- 2:05:33property. He's so terrified that he's
- 2:05:36shaking now, and Rob and Vicki are just as scared.
- 2:05:39They now truly believe that they are dealing with something
- 2:05:42paranormal in nature in order to rationalize the situation and
- 2:05:47make sense of what was taking place.
- 2:05:50They begin to believe that they're experiencing the results
- 2:05:53of the murders conducted by Herb Baumeister, and that his victims
- 2:05:58are either trapped here somehow, or their energy is stuck in an
- 2:06:03endless loop, replaying their final and tragic moments over
- 2:06:08and over and over again. Refusing to return to his
- 2:06:15apartment, Rob and Vicki, being the supportive friends they
- 2:06:18were, agreed that Joe could stay the night with them and together
- 2:06:22they would begin researching online to try and formulate some
- 2:06:25kind of a plan of action of what to do next.
- 2:06:29As they collectively scour the Baumeister case information,
- 2:06:33they find themselves looking at the list of identified victims.
- 2:06:37As they get deeper into the details, Joe is shocked.
- 2:06:41He stops them on a picture of a man in a white shirt.
- 2:06:45That was the man I saw in my apartment who was soaked from
- 2:06:48head to toe and screaming. Although this information still
- 2:06:53scares them, it does help reassure them that they are
- 2:06:56indeed dealing with the victims of this horrendous tragedy.
- 2:07:00They are especially convinced considering many of the remains
- 2:07:04have never been identified, so they continue to research the
- 2:07:08case. After several uneventful days,
- 2:07:11Joe finds himself almost compelled to walk around the
- 2:07:14property with his dog, except this time in broad daylight.
- 2:07:19So apprehensively, he makes his way with Fred to the area where
- 2:07:24both he and Vicki have seen the Man in Red on separate
- 2:07:27occasions. Just past the tree line on The
- 2:07:30Walking path, Joe is stopped by what looks to be a bone.
- 2:07:34He believes that it's impossible that such a bone could have been
- 2:07:37missed during the extensive searches over the years, but
- 2:07:41none the less it was right here, right now, as if it had been
- 2:07:46placed there for him to discover.
- 2:07:48Quickly consulting and showing Rob and Vicki the discovery,
- 2:07:52they too believed that this could be a bone belonging to the
- 2:07:55mysterious Man in Red. They ended up contacting the
- 2:07:58lead detective on the Baumeister case and submitted the bone,
- 2:08:02which turned out to be a human femur bone, in his evidence and
- 2:08:06for analysis. They then requested if the
- 2:08:09investigator himself could come out to the property and explain
- 2:08:13to them just where things had taken place so they could have a
- 2:08:17better understanding of what had happened, to which he obliged.
- 2:08:22Several days passed and Joe by this point had made his way back
- 2:08:26to his apartment to try and settle back in given the new
- 2:08:29information. While on his computer checking
- 2:08:32his emails, he began to hear scraping, almost metallic like
- 2:08:36sound originating from the kitchen.
- 2:08:39Upon further examination, he sees that all of his butcher
- 2:08:43knives from his knife block have been neatly arranged in his
- 2:08:46sink, placed in a row equally spaced from one another.
- 2:08:52Glancing around the room, he spots fresh deep cuts in the
- 2:08:55wood of the nearby counter cabinet.
- 2:08:58He believes that this could be a sign for one of the victims
- 2:09:01crying for help. He starts to try and figure out
- 2:09:05the mystery. He takes out his phone and
- 2:09:08begins recording, asking probing questions to whoever or whatever
- 2:09:13could be there and hopes of helping them in any way that he
- 2:09:16can. Prior to this, of course, he
- 2:09:19turned off any and all appliances that could interfere
- 2:09:22with the process. He begins by asking a series of
- 2:09:26questions and doesn't seem to get much of anything, at least
- 2:09:29not audibly. But then, towards the end of his
- 2:09:32questions, Fred begins to growl. The same eerie growl he had any
- 2:09:37time they'd experienced something previously.
- 2:09:40Taking this is confirmation that perhaps his companion could see
- 2:09:44or hear something that he couldn't, he quickly downloads
- 2:09:48the audio file and begins to listen to it on his computer.
- 2:09:52And to his shock, he did indeed receive a response.
- 2:09:57This is the clip of the actual EVP that was recorded who keeps
- 2:10:01walking in the kitchen. He believes he hears the married
- 2:10:08one. But in all of their research,
- 2:10:11all of the victims were young, single gay men.
- 2:10:15The only one who was married was one Herb Baumeister.
- 2:10:20This revelation is startling. He not only believes that the
- 2:10:23victims were trapped within the grounds of Fox Hollow Farm, but
- 2:10:27that perhaps the serial killer himself could too be trapped
- 2:10:32here. What would follow would be
- 2:10:34dozens of paranormal investigations.
- 2:10:37And those investigations would lead the group to believe that
- 2:10:40they were not only dealing with the spirits of the victims
- 2:10:43haunting the grounds, but either a dark entity impersonating
- 2:10:47Baumeister or the killer himself.
- 2:10:50Several years after the events, the Graves family would end up
- 2:10:54selling Fox Hollow Farm, and it would continue to change hands
- 2:10:58over the years since then, leading to multiple new owners
- 2:11:01of the property. And although new information
- 2:11:04doesn't seem to be publicly available, it's still considered
- 2:11:08one of the most haunted places in Indiana, if not the world,
- 2:11:13given its unique and gruesome history.
- 2:11:16An independent film will go on to be made about it called The
- 2:11:19Haunting of Fox Hollow Farm. And Robert Graves, along with
- 2:11:23another man named Richard E Step who led many paranormal
- 2:11:27investigations at Fox Hollow Farm, would Co write a book
- 2:11:31detailing the family's creepy experiences and what they
- 2:11:34believed to be ultimately happening.
- 2:11:37So in conclusion, we know that Herb Baumeister was mentally ill
- 2:11:42ultimately, but what makes this case so strange and so
- 2:11:45compelling to me is that he was an outstanding member of his
- 2:11:49community for the longest time. He was the smiling neighbor, the
- 2:11:54charitable businessman, the happy family man, and overall a
- 2:11:59pillar of normalcy. But behind closed doors, his
- 2:12:03psyche, his soul, contained a darkness that most of us will
- 2:12:08never be able to comprehend, yet alone unravel and understand.
- 2:12:14So could the murderous deeds of a twisted individual trap souls
- 2:12:18on a property and perhaps open some kind of a portal?
- 2:12:23Could the unleashing of such energy, like what is expressed
- 2:12:26in a violent death, contribute to something like this?
- 2:12:30If it wasn't what's known as an intelligent haunting, where the
- 2:12:33spirits are aware of what has happened to them and are indeed
- 2:12:36trapped there, which very well could still be the case, then
- 2:12:40perhaps it could be a residual haunting where the events are of
- 2:12:44such magnitude and strength that they play on a loop for all
- 2:12:48time, but the souls who were involved have long since moved
- 2:12:53on. These are questions that we may
- 2:12:55never have answers to, but all things that we should ponder.
- 2:13:00The one thing is for certain, the malicious calculation of
- 2:13:04Herb Baumeister and the horrendous things that he did to
- 2:13:07the suspected 25 victims at Fox Hollow Farms should never be
- 2:13:12forgotten. They are indeed still
- 2:13:15identifying and using updated technology to identify remains
- 2:13:19that are still being found on the grounds.
- 2:13:22This has happened as recent as November of 2022, so if you
- 2:13:26happen to be a family member of someone that you suspect could
- 2:13:30be connected to this case, just know that my heart truly does go
- 2:13:33out to you and please contact the Hamilton County Coroner's
- 2:13:38Office at 317-770-4415. Besides remembering what
- 2:13:46happened, I also urge you to please respect the victims and
- 2:13:50their families, as well as the family of Herb Baumeister if you
- 2:13:54should ever have anything to do with them.
- 2:13:57Throughout history, it has been speculated that many have been
- 2:14:01plagued by an ancient demonic force, from Mesopotamia to more
- 2:14:08modern times. This evil and terrifying entity
- 2:14:13as said to enter our world and wreak havoc upon those who dwell
- 2:14:18within it. When a seemingly normal family
- 2:14:23disregards the warnings and partakes in multiple Ouija board
- 2:14:28sessions, what happened next nearly destroyed them.
- 2:14:33This is the untold story of the demonic Zozo House of Oklahoma
- 2:14:39and the abhorrent creature stalks its walls.
- 2:14:57Oklahoma City, a small but growing city in the heartland of
- 2:15:02America known for blue collar work and brick and mortar shops,
- 2:15:08red dirt and sports would soon become known for something much
- 2:15:15darker. A teenager by the name of Darren
- 2:15:19Evans was growing up here, a normal boy by all accounts,
- 2:15:25doing things that any teenagers would enjoy, hanging out with
- 2:15:29friends, shenanigans here and there, and dating girls.
- 2:15:36He began dating a girl named Brandy who attended school with
- 2:15:39him, and the two often found themselves visiting each other
- 2:15:44as often as they could, whether that was walking to and from
- 2:15:48school and between classes or visiting each other's homes.
- 2:15:55One day, while Brandy's home was having some plumbing work done
- 2:15:59on some pipes located underneath the house, the plumber doing the
- 2:16:04work would soon make a strange discovery.
- 2:16:08Located below the foundation of the home, covered in dirt, was
- 2:16:13an old Ouija board. The front letters were partially
- 2:16:17buried and the back of the board was solid black in color.
- 2:16:23Off to the side of where the board was found was an aged
- 2:16:27planchette. What made this finding even more
- 2:16:31bizarre was that 4 old jars sat on the corners of the board,
- 2:16:37speckled with dirt as well. Thinking perhaps the kids had
- 2:16:42stashed the board away and forgot about it, the worker told
- 2:16:46the young couple after his work was done about what he had
- 2:16:50found. And it's from here that things
- 2:16:53seemingly take a darker turn. Upon examining the discovery,
- 2:16:59they began to brush the dirt away from the jars.
- 2:17:03They were then shocked by what they found Inside each one of
- 2:17:07the jars. Sitting on the four corners of
- 2:17:10the board were the decaying bodies of blackbirds, congealed
- 2:17:16blood and matter still present. Bewildered but intrigued, they
- 2:17:23sat the jars off to the side and picked up the board.
- 2:17:29As soon as his fingers made contact with the board, Darren
- 2:17:33seemed to have an instant connection with it.
- 2:17:36And with this soon came a burning curiosity to examine it.
- 2:17:41And this curiosity would manifest into obsession with
- 2:17:48this. The couple took the board inside
- 2:17:50the home where they spoke with Brandy's mother.
- 2:17:54She actively practiced the Wiccan religion, but had no idea
- 2:17:59who could have put the board there Several days later.
- 2:18:04Curious as most teenagers are, Darren was an avid music fan.
- 2:18:10And one night, after building up the courage to do it, he decided
- 2:18:15he was going to contact the deceased singer of the the
- 2:18:18popular band ACDC, a man named Ronald Belford Scott, using the
- 2:18:25board. Scott had passed away from
- 2:18:28alcohol poisoning in 1980. After lighting several candles,
- 2:18:34laying the board with letters facing towards him, and placing
- 2:18:38the planchette upon the board, he began his session.
- 2:18:43At first, nothing seemed to happen.
- 2:18:47The Darem was still feeling this otherworldly connection to
- 2:18:50something within the board itself.
- 2:18:53After trying for half an hour, to his shock and amazement, the
- 2:18:58plant Chet began to move. Slowly at first.
- 2:19:03It then frantically began to move by itself, moving from Z to
- 2:19:10OZ to O over and over and over again, spelling out the name
- 2:19:19Sozo. Shocked and unsure of what or
- 2:19:24who he had contacted, Darren said goodbye in an attempt to
- 2:19:29end the session. Before his eyes he saw the plain
- 2:19:34chat spell out See you in Hell and then it threw itself across
- 2:19:40the room. A now terrified and bewildered
- 2:19:43Darren ran out of his room try to make sense of what had just
- 2:19:47taken place. But this was just the beginning
- 2:19:51of what was to come. It started with horrible night
- 2:19:56terrors. He would wake up unable to move
- 2:20:00or speak and would hear whispering in his ears.
- 2:20:04These episodes at night were soon followed by banging and
- 2:20:08knocking throughout his house during the daytime, as well as a
- 2:20:12constant feeling. As if he was being watched by
- 2:20:15something, he couldn't see you. But despite the presence he was
- 2:20:21feeling, Darren now sought answers to his ever growing list
- 2:20:25of questions. Just what exactly he had
- 2:20:28uncovered. So he continued to hold sessions
- 2:20:33with the board. For better or for worse.
- 2:20:38Darren would later quote this. The sessions now were as intense
- 2:20:43and paranormal as anything I've ever witnessed.
- 2:20:47A deep and terrible moaning could be heard emanating through
- 2:20:51the walls. After these sessions I developed
- 2:20:54sleep paralysis and became reclusive to society in general.
- 2:21:00I was once again messing with Zozo and Ouija boards, despite
- 2:21:05the terrors of my earlier sessions in which I had promised
- 2:21:09myself I would never do it again.
- 2:21:11But again, and again I did. When not in use, the board was
- 2:21:18kept in a purple silk cloth and stored in his bedroom closet.
- 2:21:22It would also often go missing, sometimes for days on end.
- 2:21:30When checking back where he had placed it in order to set up and
- 2:21:33initiate a new session, the board would seemingly vanish,
- 2:21:39only to reappear at random times as if it was the one calling the
- 2:21:44shots of when it could be seen and used.
- 2:21:50The years came in when and the sessions on the mystical Ouija
- 2:21:54board continued. Darren by this time started
- 2:21:59inviting his friends to partake in the sessions, and although
- 2:22:03their sessions with him would prove he's not insane, it's of
- 2:22:07little consolation considering the tragedy it would seemingly
- 2:22:11manifest later on. Darren's best friend was a man
- 2:22:16by the name of Randy. The two had bonded over their
- 2:22:20love for the band ACDC in high school and had been inseparable
- 2:22:25ever since. Randy's idol also being the late
- 2:22:29Bond Scott, whose lifestyle seemingly imprinted upon the
- 2:22:33youthful teens Once Upon a time and perhaps would ultimately
- 2:22:38lead to the downfall of one of them.
- 2:22:42By now, Darren was living in his own apartment and working
- 2:22:46construction at a job site he was on.
- 2:22:50He would make a strange but familiar discovery.
- 2:22:54As he was digging down into the earth, he found what appeared to
- 2:22:58be a jar. Upon picking it up to discard
- 2:23:02it, he wiped away the dirt and debris, only to be shocked by
- 2:23:07its familiar contents. Loan.
- 2:23:10And behold, within the jar was a congealed and rotting Blackbird,
- 2:23:17extremely similar if not identical to the ones initially
- 2:23:21found alongside the Ouija board underneath his high school
- 2:23:25girlfriend's home all those years ago.
- 2:23:29It was particularly weird, not just because of this, but the
- 2:23:34fact that he had found it digging down deep into the
- 2:23:38earth. He wondered what were the odds
- 2:23:41of this, and although he had no way of knowing for sure, his gut
- 2:23:46began to tell him that there was some kind of witchcraft or a
- 2:23:50cult expertise at play here. Perhaps someone or a group of
- 2:23:56people were knowingly contacting this entity known as Zozo.
- 2:24:01But for what remained to be known, one evening in 1985,
- 2:24:08Darren and Randy were relaxing at Darren's apartment when they
- 2:24:12decided to host a session on the Ouija board.
- 2:24:15Randy, more than anything, wanted to try and make contact
- 2:24:19with his late idol Bon Scott, while wearing a Highway to Hell
- 2:24:25ACDC shirt. Randy's intent was clear.
- 2:24:30The two dimmed the lights, lit a couple of candles, and began the
- 2:24:35session upon the board. They made contact within a few
- 2:24:39minutes once the planchette was moving.
- 2:24:44Randy exclaimed. We want to talk to Bon Scott of
- 2:24:49ACDC. With this sentence, the
- 2:24:53planchette seemingly obliged. It moved in circles, eventually
- 2:24:59spelling out Aye MATE. The two looked at each other in
- 2:25:06amazement. The entity was using Australian
- 2:25:09dialects and for anyone who doesn't know, Bon Scott was
- 2:25:14Australian. After several more questions,
- 2:25:19both of the young men were convinced they were speaking
- 2:25:21with their idol. The spirit seemed to know every
- 2:25:24little detail to any question they asked and during the
- 2:25:29session the entity then made a strange request from the men.
- 2:25:34It asked them to light a cigarette and place it in the
- 2:25:37hole in the planchette. What proceeded to make both of
- 2:25:41them laugh also made them quite spooked as well.
- 2:25:45So they lit a couple cigarettes, one for each of them and one for
- 2:25:50this entity. They took a few drags to keep it
- 2:25:54lit and then placed it cherry side up in the planchette hole.
- 2:25:59The Blanchett then spelled out thanks.
- 2:26:03They then watched an utter amazement as the cherry of the
- 2:26:06cigarette lit up as if Bon himself was taking puffs off of
- 2:26:12it. But this amusement was short
- 2:26:15lived. Once the cigarette had seemingly
- 2:26:19been smoked, the Blanchett began to spell something very
- 2:26:23different. It's spelled FU, Randy.
- 2:26:28I will have your soul and I'll see you in hell, Zio.
- 2:26:36Zio terrified the men quickly into the session by saying
- 2:26:41goodbye and tossing the board outside the second story
- 2:26:44apartment balcony door. Clearly scared and upset, Randy
- 2:26:50also didn't take kindly to threats.
- 2:26:53He began cussing out Zozo with complete and utter rage.
- 2:26:58The board would later be returned by his downstairs
- 2:27:01neighbor, and after this session, a series of lows for
- 2:27:05both of the men seemed to manifest in the years to come.
- 2:27:10Influenced by the lifestyle of his idol, Randy fell victim to
- 2:27:15alcoholism. He soon would lose his wife to
- 2:27:18divorce and have split custody with his son.
- 2:27:23And although many opportunities presented themselves for Randy
- 2:27:26to better his life, for one reason or another, he was always
- 2:27:31just too far away to be able to grasp them, He often said to
- 2:27:35Darren, I feel like I'm in a prison and I can't escape for
- 2:27:42old time's sake. The two did one last Ouija board
- 2:27:45session together in 2005, in which Randy asked the board how
- 2:27:52he would die. The board responded in a car at
- 2:27:57night alone. In 2007, after spending the
- 2:28:02evening with Darren. The last words he would say to
- 2:28:06him were Darren, I will see you in hell.
- 2:28:11The next morning, Darren received a phone call from
- 2:28:14Randy's girlfriend Alicia, saying that Randy never made it
- 2:28:18home after he left. Instead, he had passed away in a
- 2:28:23violent head on collision, ultimately passing away in a car
- 2:28:28at night and alone. This devastating passing, along
- 2:28:34with the frequent contact with the entity known as Zozo over
- 2:28:37the years, led to a fascination and borderline obsession with
- 2:28:42the search for answers for Darren Evans.
- 2:28:47During the time before and after Randy's death, he had been
- 2:28:51living in a home in Oklahoma City, OK that would become
- 2:28:55synonymous with the demon's name.
- 2:28:59It was here that the worst afflictions brought on by the
- 2:29:02entity would take place to him and his family.
- 2:29:07Darren's fascination with the occult led him to hanging on to
- 2:29:11and possessing multiple Ouija boards and other various occult
- 2:29:15objects. It was here that he began to
- 2:29:19study on a much more in depth and organized basis, just trying
- 2:29:24to figure out who or what Zozo was.
- 2:29:29But this research would soon be interrupted and this home lived
- 2:29:34himself, his wife Kathleen, and their young daughter at the
- 2:29:39time. During a session with his wife
- 2:29:42Kathleen one evening while their daughter slept rooms away, Zozo
- 2:29:48would once again make itself present in their lives, but this
- 2:29:53time seemed to take possession of Darren.
- 2:29:57Kathleen trembled with fear and bated breath as something stared
- 2:30:02at her through Darren's eyes, something that clearly wasn't
- 2:30:07human. He then turned violent,
- 2:30:11attempting to attack her. Fortunately for Kathleen, she
- 2:30:16was able to say goodbye and get away before any harm could be
- 2:30:19done to her. Several minutes later, Darren
- 2:30:23would come back to himself with no memory of what had taken
- 2:30:28place. After this session, things
- 2:30:32seemed to escalate in intensity. Sounds began to rap throughout
- 2:30:38the entire home, from knocking to hissing, footsteps and
- 2:30:46banging, all seemingly with no explainable origin.
- 2:30:52The family got so terrified that they sectioned off a particular
- 2:30:57bedroom upstairs, calling it their safe room.
- 2:31:02One night, however, not everyone was within the safe room.
- 2:31:07Suddenly, an overwhelming sense of terror creeped upon Darren as
- 2:31:12he was trying to sleep. He rushed to the safe room to
- 2:31:16attempt to stop what he was feeling.
- 2:31:19Quickly realizing he couldn't leave his family behind, he
- 2:31:23rushed back out of the room in an attempt to gather them and
- 2:31:27bring them to safety as well. As he was heading towards the
- 2:31:32stairs, his daughter had heard his cries and was now at the
- 2:31:37foot of the stairs. It was here that Darren saw her
- 2:31:42being lifted by invisible hands into the air and carried away
- 2:31:47from him, screaming for his child as she screamed for her
- 2:31:53father. Darren ran down the stairs as
- 2:31:56fast as he possibly could but couldn't see her anywhere.
- 2:32:01Insight. He then heard her muffled
- 2:32:04screams coming from the basement.
- 2:32:08At first the door was locked and wouldn't open, but after
- 2:32:12adrenaline and brute force, Darren thankfully was able to
- 2:32:16open it. He then retrieved his hysterical
- 2:32:19child and brought her to the safety of the safe room.
- 2:32:25Once inside the room, the family huddled together in fear as they
- 2:32:29continued to hear movement and noises all throughout the house.
- 2:32:34After this abhorrent nightmare of a situation, the family knew
- 2:32:38they had to get out of the house.
- 2:32:41This situation and the many other paranormal experiences had
- 2:32:45led to a lifelong fascination for Darren Evans with the occult
- 2:32:51and finding out just exactly what Sozo is.
- 2:32:55But was it worth jeopardizing his family's safety?
- 2:33:00It took some time but the family would soon relocate to another
- 2:33:04home and once his family was safe, Darren was able to
- 2:33:09continue his deep dive into the unknown to try and track down
- 2:33:14and decipher just what this entity could be and where it
- 2:33:19came from. And although he knew the topic
- 2:33:22was vast, I think it went far deeper than he ever anticipated.
- 2:33:28Whilst trying to dig up more information, he posted his
- 2:33:32experiences to an old paranormal form in 2009 and since then
- 2:33:39many, many people have shared their experiences with the
- 2:33:44demonic force, many of which have been documented and
- 2:33:49compared by Darren himself on his website.
- 2:33:53But these experiences are not just the 21st or even 20th
- 2:33:57century phenomena, they date back far older than that.
- 2:34:03Not every fine detail will be mentioned here, but I will do my
- 2:34:07best to list the most important details that I could find in
- 2:34:11regards to the origin of Zozo. According to Darren and other
- 2:34:16online sources, Zozo in the old Basque language means Blackbird
- 2:34:23or crow. The Zo people of Haiti practiced
- 2:34:27a form of voodoo whose rituals involve horrific scarification
- 2:34:32as well as the intake and passing around of bodily fluids
- 2:34:37and bizarre rituals. Their witch doctors are called
- 2:34:41Zozo and wear demonic looking masks as part of their death
- 2:34:47ritual. When someone is passing away,
- 2:34:50they lift up the mask at the moment of death to take in the
- 2:34:54person's final breath. This is apparently done to
- 2:34:58absorb the soul of the person to gain more spiritual power.
- 2:35:03Zozo also in the Malay language is the same as it is in English,
- 2:35:09but it translates to wandering spirit, which is a spirit they
- 2:35:13believe to steal people's souls while they sleep, which is also
- 2:35:18bizarre because sleep is often considered the cousin of death.
- 2:35:24Zozo has been called the minister of deception.
- 2:35:27It is known to convince you that it is a deceased loved one or
- 2:35:31friend or even someone you've idolized, when in reality, it's
- 2:35:37not. Sessions typically start out
- 2:35:41friendly and inviting, but soon turned malevolent and dangerous.
- 2:35:48During his research over the years, Darren made contact with
- 2:35:53and spoke to famous demonologist John Zapis who shared with him
- 2:35:57that in his experience with over 40 years of studying the demonic
- 2:36:02and paranormal, the name Zozo and other pseudonyms of its name
- 2:36:07kept coming up in his investigations, which too led
- 2:36:11him to seek answers as to what it could be.
- 2:36:15And some of those investigations, when questioned,
- 2:36:19the demon stated that it was the son of Satan himself.
- 2:36:24But Zapfis thinks perhaps is with many deities that seem to
- 2:36:28be lurking in the shadows. Zozo could be an entity that's
- 2:36:32existed far before the founding of Christianity.
- 2:36:37Besides evidence showing up in Africa and Egypt, there's also
- 2:36:41evidence found linking Zozo to ancient Mesopotamia as well.
- 2:36:47Other names Zozo has gone by throughout the ages have been
- 2:36:51Zuzu, Zaza, and Mamo, among many others.
- 2:36:58The name Zuzu could refer to Puzzuzu, the famed demon from
- 2:37:02the film The Exorcist, which in reality was a demonic entity
- 2:37:07from ancient Mesopotamian religion.
- 2:37:10It's incredibly strange to note the following as well.
- 2:37:14Zozo was replaced in the story of the exorcism of Rolling
- 2:37:18Dough, and Peter Blatty was using it as inspiration to write
- 2:37:23The Exorcist. He changed Zozo to Pazuzu.
- 2:37:28Zozo is believed to be the demon that possessed Roland.
- 2:37:34It was described as a terrifying form that first appeared in the
- 2:37:38Neo Assyrian period, roughly around 934 to 610 BC.
- 2:37:45It had a monstrous head resembling a fierce lion or a
- 2:37:49dog with horns, and had an emaciated human body with clawed
- 2:37:55hands, a scorpion's tail, and two sets of wings.
- 2:38:01One translation reads. I am Pazuzu, the son of Hambu,
- 2:38:08king of the Lilu demons. I have scaled the powerful
- 2:38:12mountains. They trembled.
- 2:38:15The contrary winds were headed West 1 by 1.
- 2:38:20I broke their wings. Pezuzu and other demons like it
- 2:38:25were held responsible for ailments like disease, fetal
- 2:38:30death, nightmares, and much more.
- 2:38:34Could it be that this ancient demonic force is what could be
- 2:38:38plaguing people all the way into modern times?
- 2:38:42The demon Zozo is also mentioned in the French Demonic
- 2:38:46Encyclopedia is one of the demons responsible for
- 2:38:50diabolical possession and corruption.
- 2:38:55The possession of a young girl in 1816 is noted as a documented
- 2:39:00case where Zozo, among several other demons were present.
- 2:39:05Other noteworthy possession cases over the ages ranging
- 2:39:09closer to modern times that bears Zozo's name other than the
- 2:39:13exorcism of rolling dough in the 1950s, are the possession of
- 2:39:18Doris Blither in 1972 in Los Angeles, the Enfield Poltergeist
- 2:39:25incident in 1977 in the UK, and as recent as 2012 where a
- 2:39:33possession incident led to an attempted murder.
- 2:39:38Other theories with how this entity could communicate with so
- 2:39:42many people so quickly and across the globe over the years,
- 2:39:46besides supernatural ability of its own, would be that its own
- 2:39:51reach is perhaps being strengthened by an agrigor or
- 2:39:56collective group of thought form created by occultists for a
- 2:40:00certain purpose. However, this seems unlikely
- 2:40:06considering the entity doesn't seem to serve any human interest
- 2:40:11other than to destroy the person or people's lives it makes
- 2:40:14contact with. Agrigors are typically formed to
- 2:40:19bring control over a summoned deity for the person or groups
- 2:40:23bidding. But perhaps instead there is a
- 2:40:26cold worshipping Zozo? I mean, that would make more
- 2:40:30sense to me. People who have made contact
- 2:40:34with the entity via spirit or Ouija board have also been asked
- 2:40:38to chant or spell out phrases in Hebrew or Latin, which has
- 2:40:43convinced many of the intelligence of the being that
- 2:40:46they're speaking with. What is also interesting is that
- 2:40:51the letter Z was actually removed from the original Latin
- 2:40:54alphabet because it was considered too evil when
- 2:40:58pronouncing it. It was said that one's face
- 2:41:01would make a death's grimace like that of a corpse, and that
- 2:41:06it mimicked the letter S like an evil twin.
- 2:41:10Perhaps the entity uses this name as some sort of mocking,
- 2:41:15whether to God or something else.
- 2:41:19One may also ask, despite the origin, theories and historical
- 2:41:24details that could be linked to this ancient demonic force, how
- 2:41:28would one know if they encountered such a thing?
- 2:41:32These are what's known as Zozo's calling cards when it's being
- 2:41:35summoned using a Ouija board. The obvious is there that the
- 2:41:41planchette will begin to move on its own, but some less obvious
- 2:41:45signs are there as well, and are as follows.
- 2:41:50The planchette will move in a rainbow pattern from side to
- 2:41:53side, spelling ZOZO over and over again, also known as the
- 2:42:01rainbow effect. It can also move in repeating
- 2:42:05Figure 8 movements like an Infinity sign.
- 2:42:10The planchet will spell out various versions of the demon's
- 2:42:13name, like Zozo, Zozo, Zaza, Zuzu, or Mama.
- 2:42:22You may also begin to see shadows moving around the area
- 2:42:26where you were hosting the session, like you're seeing
- 2:42:29through the thinnest sheet and to a Dark World that exists just
- 2:42:34behind your vision, and you and whoever you may be with may
- 2:42:39start to feel scared, uneasy, or upset, seemingly for no other
- 2:42:46reason. Before or after this takes
- 2:42:49place. When you tell this entity
- 2:42:53goodbye, typically the best way to close a session, it may not
- 2:42:58truly be goodbye because often times depending on how long the
- 2:43:03session has been for, like an ever widening door, the entity
- 2:43:08may have had just enough time to sneak in to begin to wreak havoc
- 2:43:13upon your life. And thus begins what many
- 2:43:17demonologists and religious leaders alike call demonic
- 2:43:20obsession, which is where the entity becomes aware of you and
- 2:43:25begins to crave you, which then leads to oppression or begins to
- 2:43:31inflict various forms of torture upon you in an effort to break
- 2:43:36you down, whether that's physically, psychologically, or
- 2:43:41spiritually. It will also work to isolate you
- 2:43:45from others, especially those who care about you.
- 2:43:49And finally, if you're incredibly unlucky, possession
- 2:43:55or the entity finally takes control of you as its vessel.
- 2:44:01All of which to me are absolutely terrifying in every
- 2:44:04imaginable way. Darren Evans to this day
- 2:44:08continues to research the Zozo Phenomena, having been involved
- 2:44:13in the number of paranormal investigations, shows, and
- 2:44:17various other public and private events, as well as radio shows
- 2:44:22and podcasts, many of which he goes into various degrees of
- 2:44:26details regarding his encounters, other people's
- 2:44:30encounters, and other various historical details.
- 2:44:35He also in 2016 compiled his year's worth of research and
- 2:44:38experiences into a book also titled The Zozo Phenomena, which
- 2:44:44you can read and learn more about the entity and the topic
- 2:44:47as a whole. If you're interested, I'll link
- 2:44:50it below. I also pulled a lot of this
- 2:44:53information from various interviews which I'll also be
- 2:44:57linking below, as well as an older website he runs that
- 2:45:01doesn't seem to have been updated in a while but supplied
- 2:45:04me with much information to get the story as cohesive as I
- 2:45:08possibly could. I also sourced the photos of the
- 2:45:12apparitions from the site, some of which were taken by Evans
- 2:45:16himself over the years. So does this demon or ancient
- 2:45:21force truly exist? Is it some kind of elder God, a
- 2:45:27pre Christian deity or being or manifestation of occult or
- 2:45:33Luciferian practices? Did Darren Evans just make it up
- 2:45:38and did thousands of people find it interesting enough to make up
- 2:45:42their own stories and partake in a mass charade that has lasted
- 2:45:46years? All of these answers may never
- 2:45:49truly be known, but my opinion is this I think not only given
- 2:45:55the wide array of strange coincidences and details
- 2:45:59throughout history. From the origins, to the stories
- 2:46:02of this creature existing in distant past to the present, to
- 2:46:07literally thousands of people. From casual interest in the
- 2:46:11occult to more hardcore fanatics, religious scholars,
- 2:46:17demonologists, and more claiming to have had experiences with
- 2:46:22this thing. With all of these details in
- 2:46:24mind, I certainly think it very well could be real.
- 2:46:29I do think there are things that exist in the shadows, things we
- 2:46:33can't see or touch that are there watching and waiting to
- 2:46:39strike when and if the opportunity presents itself.
- 2:46:44So my advice to all of you to avoid any possibility of opening
- 2:46:49a door that you can't close and inviting evil into your life is
- 2:46:54this. Don't mess with Ouija boards.
- 2:46:58These things are not toys. Whether you believe it or not,
- 2:47:02these entities do exist and they believe in you.
- 2:47:07So keep away from them because you might just let something in
- 2:47:11that won't want to leave. Even if you say goodbye.
- 2:47:22Lying dormant within the streets of suburbia, there is an unseen
- 2:47:27evil. Like a mouse falling into a pit
- 2:47:30of snakes, an unsuspecting family disturbed a slumbering
- 2:47:35force and became enshrouded in a fog of darkness.
- 2:47:41This is the untold story of the Bel Air House and the
- 2:47:46terrifying, malevolent entities that dwell within its walls.
- 2:47:53Bellaire, OH, an area rich in history, was once known as Glass
- 2:47:58City. Having once been a major glass
- 2:48:01production hub in the late 1800s, is now known as the All
- 2:48:06American town, having been used in many Hollywood productions as
- 2:48:12a backdrop for lots of movies, some of which you've probably
- 2:48:16seen over the years. The town that epitomizes small
- 2:48:20America's daily life has long since moved past its industrial
- 2:48:25days and has become known for something else.
- 2:48:29On the outskirts of the town lies an old two-story Victorian
- 2:48:33home that has become famous over the recent years, both among
- 2:48:38locals as well as across the country, with some saying it
- 2:48:43could be the most haunted place in the United States, if not the
- 2:48:47world. This is a bold statement to say
- 2:48:50the least, but the countless visitors to the house have
- 2:48:53reported strange, disturbing, and unexplainable encounters
- 2:48:59within its antique walls. But just how did the story
- 2:49:02begin? Where did the legend of the Bel
- 2:49:05Air house originate from? Let us first take a look at the
- 2:49:09home's dark history. Built in 1887 by a coal tycoon
- 2:49:16named Jacob Hetherington, the house sits adjacent from ancient
- 2:49:20Native American burial caves. It is also located where the
- 2:49:25scene of a massacre took place during the French and Indian
- 2:49:29War. It would sit on top of an active
- 2:49:33coal mine for years before there was a major explosion that took
- 2:49:38place within the mine, killing multiple men working deep within
- 2:49:42the earth directly underneath the house.
- 2:49:46Could the culmination of these tragic deaths have opened up a
- 2:49:50portal within the Bel Air House? A portal that allowed something
- 2:49:54to come through that wasn't supposed to be here?
- 2:49:58Shortly after this explosion is when the strange activity began.
- 2:50:03Jacob's son Alex moved into the home with his daughter, lied,
- 2:50:08but was soon stricken with seizures and hallucinations.
- 2:50:13He would ultimately be committed to an insane asylum for the rest
- 2:50:17of his life, claiming that demons were trying to kill him.
- 2:50:23As time progressed, Lyde would take charge of the family
- 2:50:26business, being helped by her younger brother Edwin.
- 2:50:31Lyde would tragically and unexpectedly pass away one
- 2:50:35morning in the kitchen of the home.
- 2:50:38Edwin, now alone and grief stricken, descended into
- 2:50:42mysticism and the occult in search of answers.
- 2:50:47He began to regularly host seances in the kitchen where his
- 2:50:51sister had passed away to attempt to make contact with her
- 2:50:56on the other side, and it is believed that contact was indeed
- 2:51:00made, but with who or what is uncertain.
- 2:51:06In 2005, Kristen Lee and her family are desperate for a new
- 2:51:11home. Like a curse, for the second
- 2:51:14time in less than two years, a flash flood has destroyed their
- 2:51:18home and all of their possessions.
- 2:51:22Kristen, her two sons, Nicholas and Lane, along with their
- 2:51:26father Hefe, have been fortunate enough to room with friends
- 2:51:30during this difficult time. Kristen has continued to try and
- 2:51:34get the family back on their feet and no longer wants to
- 2:51:38burden her friends with the boarding of her family.
- 2:51:42So she constantly checks the real estate listings hoping to
- 2:51:45find a home that her and her family can finally settle down
- 2:51:49into. Given the circumstances, the
- 2:51:53family didn't have a big budget and would have to rebuild their
- 2:51:56lives from scratch. But soon her determination seems
- 2:52:01to pay off. While at work, Kristen often
- 2:52:05browses real estate websites for new listings as well as
- 2:52:08foreclosures and a new listing soon catches her eye.
- 2:52:14Recently foreclosed on but now available for purchase, she lays
- 2:52:18eyes on the old Victorian home for the first time.
- 2:52:22It's 4 bedrooms and two bathroom setup along with plenty of room
- 2:52:27would be perfect for her family. The price seems almost too good
- 2:52:31to be true for her budget as well, and although the listing
- 2:52:35lacks more details, it's like her prayers had finally been
- 2:52:40answered. But by what?
- 2:52:43Not wanting to lose the property, Kristen arranges a
- 2:52:47showing of the home as soon as possible and before too long
- 2:52:51finds herself on the front steps of the Bel Air house.
- 2:52:56She is immediately taken in by the beautiful craftsmanship of
- 2:53:00the woodwork. The wrap around porch facing the
- 2:53:03Ohio River soon has her imagining peaceful evenings
- 2:53:07watching the water flow. Upon entering the home, she
- 2:53:11continues to be impressed. Old marble and cherry wood
- 2:53:16ordain the interior of the home and it seems almost too perfect,
- 2:53:21like something straight out of her dreams.
- 2:53:24The family also has a dog named Bella, and the large fenced in
- 2:53:29backyard is perfect for her to run in and the boys to play in.
- 2:53:34Dumbfounded by her luck, Kristen puts in an offer on the House
- 2:53:38that evening and it's accepted the following morning.
- 2:53:42After two years of chaos and uncertainty, the Lee family can
- 2:53:47finally breathe again and start living a normal life.
- 2:53:51But just as all seems quiet and settled, the family begins to
- 2:53:55discover that the house is anything but normal at first.
- 2:54:01Upon hearing odd noises in the night, the family wrote off the
- 2:54:05sounds as nothing more than anxiety and an old house.
- 2:54:09Being slightly scared or anxious upon moving into a new place,
- 2:54:13particularly following a very uncertain time in one's life, is
- 2:54:17not out of the ordinary. But these sounds soon become too
- 2:54:21much to dismiss. They soon begin to hear
- 2:54:24footsteps at all hours of the day and night.
- 2:54:27Kristen would later describe the activity as so.
- 2:54:30I would hear footsteps above and sometimes below me, even when
- 2:54:34there was no one else home but me.
- 2:54:37And I always felt as if there were thousands of eyes staring
- 2:54:40at me at all times, watching my every move.
- 2:54:46Along with the strange noises, items soon begin to go missing.
- 2:54:50From keys to towels to trinkets. One moment they would be there
- 2:54:55and within seconds they would vanish.
- 2:54:59And Kristen isn't the only one experiencing strange happenings
- 2:55:02within the Bel Air house at the time.
- 2:55:05Her 12 year old son Nicholas begins to experience a
- 2:55:08malevolent force that seems to dwell within his bedroom.
- 2:55:13At first, he too begins to feel as if he's being watched at all
- 2:55:17times, and it seems to get exponentially worse at night.
- 2:55:22He begins to have night terrors, feeling someone or something
- 2:55:26covering his mouth and nose, forcing him to suffocate.
- 2:55:31One night, he wakes up in a cold sweat.
- 2:55:35It's storming outside. Flashes of lightning
- 2:55:38occasionally light up the room. What he sees disturbs him to his
- 2:55:44core. In the corner of his room
- 2:55:47towards his closet. As a burst of light fills the
- 2:55:50room, he sees a blackened figure staring at him and shaking
- 2:55:57profusely. The young boy is utterly
- 2:56:00terrified, rushing out of his room as fast as he possibly can.
- 2:56:05He wakes up his mother and refuses to sleep there any
- 2:56:08longer. The boy is so hysterical, the
- 2:56:12only solution was to send him to his grandmother's house, located
- 2:56:1630 minutes away. What makes this case all the
- 2:56:20more compelling is that Kristen has a master's degree in
- 2:56:24psychology and works as a mental health physician.
- 2:56:28With this, her professional opinion of what Nicholas had
- 2:56:32experienced was initially contributed to stress and
- 2:56:35fatigue, both common factors that tend to make the human mind
- 2:56:39see and experience things that aren't really there.
- 2:56:43And these probably could explain many similar situations, and
- 2:56:47most would agree. However, Kristen's view would
- 2:56:51soon undergo a radical change after one terrifying experience
- 2:56:56of her own. After months of strange
- 2:56:59happenings within the home, it was now winter and the Lee
- 2:57:04family, still tied on finances, was sleeping in the basement
- 2:57:08near the fireplace to save money on the gas bill.
- 2:57:13Hefe was asleep in a recliner and Lane as well as Kristen were
- 2:57:17asleep on the wrap around couch located in the corner of the
- 2:57:21room. All seemed normal until Kristen
- 2:57:25was woken up by the feeling of the couch cushion being pressed
- 2:57:29down near her legs. She then found herself face to
- 2:57:33face with a terrifying figure of a man staring directly at her.
- 2:57:39She would later describe the encounter as So I woke up being
- 2:57:43face to face with this Gray figure of a man.
- 2:57:47He was translucent, almost like a mist, but the mist had
- 2:57:52features like a person. The face was completely
- 2:57:56emotionless and had dark sunken in eyes.
- 2:58:01Kristen asked who are you? What are you doing here?
- 2:58:05What do you want? But to no response, just a
- 2:58:10blank, lifeless stare. Within seconds the apparition
- 2:58:16disappears, but before she can ponder what had just taken
- 2:58:20place, the silence is once again shattered.
- 2:58:24But by this time it was the family dog, Bella, who was
- 2:58:28barking and running around the room.
- 2:58:31Kristen, attempting to keep her family asleep through the
- 2:58:34ordeal, tries to quiet the dog down and notices that she can
- 2:58:39see her breath in the air, and although it's cold outside, it's
- 2:58:43not nearly that cold near the fireplace.
- 2:58:47She then sees the figure materialize once more and
- 2:58:51silently moved from one side of the room and through the wall on
- 2:58:55the other side, vanishing completely.
- 2:58:58No longer wanting to face whatever this was alone, she
- 2:59:02woke up her husband and told him what had just taken place.
- 2:59:07His response, however, was that she was too tired and needed to
- 2:59:11go back to sleep. Could what Kristen had
- 2:59:15experienced been a stress or fatigue induced hallucination?
- 2:59:19Perhaps, but someone with a professional background such as
- 2:59:23herself surely would know how to differentiate, wouldn't you
- 2:59:27think? Finally, knowing she's not crazy
- 2:59:31and totally convinced that the home was haunted, Kristen begins
- 2:59:36to try and make plans to get her family out of the Bel Air house
- 2:59:40and to safety elsewhere. As soon as she can, she puts the
- 2:59:45home up for sale and moves the family to a nearby rental home.
- 2:59:50Although she's relieved to no longer physically be in the
- 2:59:53house, no one is buying it to try and cover expenses.
- 2:59:58She has no other choice other than to make the house a rental
- 3:00:01property. But almost as soon as the first
- 3:00:04family moves in, they move out. And this kick starts a revolving
- 3:00:09door of tenants seemingly stuck with the house.
- 3:00:14Kristen comes to the conclusion that no family will or should
- 3:00:17live there. So what should be done with a
- 3:00:20haunted property? Needing to make ends meet, she
- 3:00:24comes up with a unique idea. She turns the home into an
- 3:00:28afterlife research property. This would allow various groups
- 3:00:32to come in conduct their own research on just what exactly
- 3:00:36was taking place within the Bel Air House.
- 3:00:40And the idea works. Soon groups from all over the
- 3:00:44United States and Canada are travelling to temporarily live
- 3:00:48within the home to conduct research.
- 3:00:52And from here we gain some more interesting stories, to say the
- 3:00:56least. One group, who calls themselves
- 3:01:00the Armchair Researchers from upstate New York, consists of
- 3:01:04two women, one being a birthing nurse and the other a nurse who
- 3:01:09works with dying patients. They found paranormal and
- 3:01:13afterlife research to be a natural extension of their day
- 3:01:17jobs for the last 15 years. After hearing about the Bel Air
- 3:01:22house, they soon find themselves driving to Ohio to investigate
- 3:01:27the phenomena for themselves. First impressions tend to go a
- 3:01:31long way, and the first impression the women got upon
- 3:01:34their arrival was very creepy. The home by this point was in a
- 3:01:40moderate state of decay. The fence that had once
- 3:01:43surrounded the backyard was mostly blown down, and the
- 3:01:47exterior of the home as well as the porch was weathered and
- 3:01:52rotting. But despite the odd feelings
- 3:01:55initially, they make their way inside now.
- 3:01:59At first they actually felt welcomed, almost invited in,
- 3:02:04greeted by the same cherry wood interior that has greeted
- 3:02:07everyone. But as soon as they set up their
- 3:02:10equipment and prepare for their stay, as day turns to night,
- 3:02:15there seems to be a shift in energy within the home.
- 3:02:19The shift went from warm and inviting to dark and ominous.
- 3:02:25Then began the noises, banging, footsteps and the moving of
- 3:02:31furniture. The ladies also noted the
- 3:02:34feeling of being watched everywhere they went while
- 3:02:38asking probing questions. As they wandered throughout the
- 3:02:40house, they would soon also witness strange lights in
- 3:02:44various parts of the home. And along with the lights, there
- 3:02:49soon also came full blown apparitions, all of which seem
- 3:02:53to be centered around the basement.
- 3:02:56And as the night progressed, so did their feelings of anxiety.
- 3:03:01While taking a short break and sitting down on one of the
- 3:03:03couches in the basement, the two heard what they described as a
- 3:03:07large crashing noise above them, as if someone or something had
- 3:03:13thrown a bookshelf across the house itself, shaking the entire
- 3:03:17home. Absolutely terrified and
- 3:03:20panicked, the women apprehensively made their way up
- 3:03:24the stairs and rushed out of the home as fast as they possibly
- 3:03:27could, leaving behind equipment and personal items they were too
- 3:03:33frightened to go back. Upon learning of what had taken
- 3:03:37place, Kristen wasn't at all surprised.
- 3:03:40Over the years, there have been dozens of teams of people who
- 3:03:43couldn't seem to last the night for one experience or another.
- 3:03:48People have been scratched, pushed down stairs, punched,
- 3:03:53bitten, and even in one instance thrown across the room by a
- 3:03:58violent and unseen force. Another noteworthy story comes
- 3:04:03from a team located locally there in Ohio.
- 3:04:06They have had the opportunity to visit the home and conduct
- 3:04:10investigations numerous times over the years, but their
- 3:04:14experience, in particular one night, truly makes me question
- 3:04:18just what exactly haunts the Bel Air House.
- 3:04:22There was three of them this time, and it was shortly after
- 3:04:25midnight when they made their way into the attic to continue
- 3:04:28their investigation. During their questioning, they
- 3:04:32seemed to be getting direct interaction with something
- 3:04:35through their spirit box. Then towards the corner of the
- 3:04:39attic, a mist seemed to materialize coming up from the
- 3:04:44attic floor, slowly enveloping the group.
- 3:04:48Glancing down, they were now too stunned to speak.
- 3:04:53They saw what appeared to be thousands of black snake like
- 3:04:56creatures, Slytherin, over their feet and onto their legs.
- 3:05:02The creatures then began to form a figure standing in front of
- 3:05:06one of the attic windows, a creature of pure darkness that
- 3:05:11seemed to stare at them with thousands of tiny beady eyes.
- 3:05:17The crew, which consisted of two men and a woman, ran for their
- 3:05:21lives, descending the attic stairs as quickly as possible,
- 3:05:26leaving behind anything and everything that they had brought
- 3:05:29with them that wasn't located on their person and out of the home
- 3:05:33for good. All of these stories and
- 3:05:36experiences have led many to believe that the Bel Air House
- 3:05:40is some kind of magnet for paranormal activity.
- 3:05:44A magnet or a host to a portal for spirits, whether that portal
- 3:05:49was opened by the tragedy that took place within the mind that
- 3:05:52once existed below its foundation, or one that was open
- 3:05:57due to seances being conducted within the house on multiple
- 3:06:01occasions. But over the years, many
- 3:06:04different entities have been documented, from what appear to
- 3:06:08be human ghosts to perhaps something more sinister.
- 3:06:12One such entity goes by the name of Emily Davis.
- 3:06:16It is believed that Emily Davis was a child that drowned in the
- 3:06:20Ohio River that flows right by the home.
- 3:06:24Her room is allegedly the same room that Kristin's son Nicholas
- 3:06:28once stayed in. And besides the basement, it
- 3:06:32also seems to be a hotspot for paranormal activity.
- 3:06:37Through various investigations, one's contact has been made and
- 3:06:41trust seems to be gained. People are often attacked, which
- 3:06:46have led many to believe that Emily isn't a child at all, but
- 3:06:51a demon. Perhaps it could be the same
- 3:06:54demonic creature that frightened Nicholas so bad that he moved
- 3:06:58out of the home. As previously mentioned, many
- 3:07:02investigators also have claimed to have some activity follow
- 3:07:06them home and even haunt their dreams, as if the house or the
- 3:07:11beings within the house are calling out to them to come back
- 3:07:16for one reason or another. Although many questions may
- 3:07:20never be answered surrounding the Bel Air House, one thing is
- 3:07:24for certain, it continues to be considered one of the most
- 3:07:28haunted places in America, if not the world.
- 3:07:33It also continues to serve as a place of study for those wanting
- 3:07:36to investigate the supernatural forces that dwell within its
- 3:07:41walls. But if you find yourself being
- 3:07:44drawn to the old Victorian, just know that if you're not careful,
- 3:07:49you too could find yourself being made a part of its
- 3:07:52history, whether you like it or not.
- 3:07:58Over the years I've covered a wide array of mysteries from The
- 3:08:02Mothman to UFOs, conspiracies to cold cases, and one topic that
- 3:08:09seemed to resonate more with all of you, and one that I've always
- 3:08:13found fascinating is hauntings. Whether that's haunted places,
- 3:08:18haunted people, or experiences that people have had that they
- 3:08:22would consider paranormal in nature.
- 3:08:25So today I'm trying something new.
- 3:08:28And don't worry, this is adding content here on Mystery
- 3:08:31Archives, so there will still be episodes of The Untold Story for
- 3:08:35you to enjoy. Those just take a good chunk of
- 3:08:37time to produce. So in between those episodes,
- 3:08:42I'd really like to share stories from you guys, the community, to
- 3:08:46bring awareness that these kinds of experiences really do happen.
- 3:08:50And having grown up in a haunted home myself, I know that often
- 3:08:54times people are hesitant to share their stories for fear of
- 3:08:58ridicule or for fear of whatever they've experienced flaring up
- 3:09:02again and reigniting their personal nightmare.
- 3:09:06This platform will hopefully give their stories justice, have
- 3:09:10them heard, and give you a glimpse into what people like
- 3:09:14yourselves have experienced. These are your paranormal
- 3:09:18encounters when a young family encounters the devil and the
- 3:09:26flesh. Told from the perspective of a
- 3:09:29young girl, this terrifying tale will have you questioning just
- 3:09:34what could be happening across the street from you, next door,
- 3:09:38or even in your very own home. I was almost seven when these
- 3:09:45events took place and I'll be 40 later this year.
- 3:09:49I lived in the Glendale Apartments in Rock Hill, SC.
- 3:09:54My baby brother at the time wasn't quite even a year old
- 3:09:58now. My mom was young when she had me
- 3:10:00at 17, and my stepdad Keith was exactly 2 months to the day
- 3:10:05older than her. My mom has been gone for 14
- 3:10:09years now, but I still remember this day like it was yesterday.
- 3:10:14We had left to get dinner that night and by the time we had
- 3:10:17gotten back, Keith was passed out in the front seat of his
- 3:10:21little hatchback Mustang in the parking lot.
- 3:10:24This was the first of two that would find themselves wrapped
- 3:10:26around trees in my town. Keith was suffering from what
- 3:10:30would later be diagnosed as schizophrenia with bipolar
- 3:10:34tendencies and had seemingly been self medicating to
- 3:10:39alleviate his symptoms since he was asleep.
- 3:10:43My mom urged me not to wake him as I helped her get my infant
- 3:10:47brother at the time out of the car and into our apartment.
- 3:10:51As we began to wind down for the evening, our phone began to
- 3:10:55ring, shattering the calm peace that was our lives.
- 3:11:01It was Keith's mom, Mary. She lived on the other side of
- 3:11:04the complex, which mostly housed old people and people with
- 3:11:09disabilities. She sounded panicked, screaming
- 3:11:13that something was happening in her apartment, that she needed
- 3:11:17help immediately. My mom rushed to go wake Keith
- 3:11:20up out in the parking lot, but upon running up to the car, he
- 3:11:25was nowhere to be found. She rushed back into our
- 3:11:28apartment saying that she couldn't find Keith when he
- 3:11:32suddenly appeared in the hallway and neither of us had seen him
- 3:11:36come into the apartment. He seemed completely out of it
- 3:11:41and was terrified, saying that something was taking him over
- 3:11:46and that he couldn't control himself.
- 3:11:49I saw his eyes, they were black. My mother didn't have time to
- 3:11:54deal with or process his antics and gathered us to walk to his
- 3:11:59mother's apartment. In the meantime, as we rushed
- 3:12:02over there as fast as we could, I remember getting a skin
- 3:12:05crawling feeling every time Keith looked at me, like it was
- 3:12:09something completely foreign to this world peering into my soul.
- 3:12:14We arrived and were quickly let into Mary's apartment.
- 3:12:18Her lights were flickering and her pictures were swaying back
- 3:12:22and forth on the walls. A heavy presence could be felt
- 3:12:26by all of us. Mary was deeply religious and
- 3:12:30couldn't understand just what was taking place, but she
- 3:12:33believed it to be evil. Keith was now standing in the
- 3:12:37living room and began to sway back and forth as the activity
- 3:12:42seemed to intensify. As my mother approached him to
- 3:12:46ask what he was doing, he began to laugh.
- 3:12:50This was the deepest, most maniacal laugh I have ever heard
- 3:12:55and I still get chills thinking about it.
- 3:12:57This voice was not his own. My mother quickly backed up,
- 3:13:02unsure of what to do, and he then began to point at me saying
- 3:13:08I'm going to sacrifice that child tonight.
- 3:13:11His eyes were now blood red. Mary by this time had grabbed
- 3:13:17some of her belongings from her room and happened to have some
- 3:13:20blessed oil along with her Bible.
- 3:13:23She threw the oil on Keith's face and it began to boil.
- 3:13:27The sound of sizzling and screaming was horrific.
- 3:13:33My mother's love for Keith quickly overpowered her fear and
- 3:13:37she pulled him into the bathroom to examine his face.
- 3:13:40She was freaking out to say the least, partially because of how
- 3:13:44unbelievable the circumstances were and just how badly he was
- 3:13:49burnt on his face. His eyes at this point were
- 3:13:53rolled into the back of his head.
- 3:13:56Then suddenly, without warning, he rushed my mom and pinned her
- 3:14:01against the wall. His younger sister, Nikki and
- 3:14:05his mother quickly rushed in to help free her, with Mary dumping
- 3:14:09more oil on him each time. His skin literally sizzled where
- 3:14:15it landed. This fortunately worked.
- 3:14:18Keith now laid catatonic on the bathroom floor.
- 3:14:22So all together, us girls moved him into a nearby bedroom and
- 3:14:26restrained him to the bed using anything we could find for our
- 3:14:31own safety. Shortly after we did this, his
- 3:14:35mother called the nearby oratory and asked for a priest to assist
- 3:14:38us immediately. Nikki, who was a teenager at the
- 3:14:43time, was trying to comfort me, telling me that Keith was just
- 3:14:47really sick and not to be scared.
- 3:14:50She encouraged me to try and get some sleep and I of course
- 3:14:54couldn't and wouldn't. I didn't dare close my eyes for
- 3:14:58fear of that thing hurting my mom.
- 3:15:02And this room with Keith was a picture of Jesus kneeling on top
- 3:15:06of a mountain. I heard Keith laughing in that
- 3:15:09other worldly voice. He called out to me.
- 3:15:13He said, you know, little girl, I used to be an Angel with the
- 3:15:18most beautiful wings until that bastard was born.
- 3:15:22Then I was cast from atop that mountain and banished.
- 3:15:28I asked who are you, the devil? He perked up, looked me dead in
- 3:15:34my eyes and said I am Lucifer, the light bringer here in the
- 3:15:40flesh. I'm not only taking Keith with
- 3:15:43me, but all of you as well. Now untie me.
- 3:15:49I ran hysterically to my mother who was having a cigarette to
- 3:15:52calm her nerves. She ran into the room to comfort
- 3:15:55him when he said do you want to see proof?
- 3:15:59And against her will, my mother then extinguished the cigarette
- 3:16:03into his arm with Keith exclaiming it feels so good.
- 3:16:09You'll have to adjust to the searing flames, but in due time,
- 3:16:13you too. We'll call it home.
- 3:16:16She then rushed out of the room and closed the door.
- 3:16:20We waited with bated breath for the priest to arrive when
- 3:16:24shortly after 3:00 AM there was a knock on the door.
- 3:16:27Thank God it was him. For the next several hours, they
- 3:16:31attempted to cast this thing out of Keith, probably for the best.
- 3:16:36They kept me in the living room, away from the demonic terror
- 3:16:40that was inhabiting his body. But my God, the smells that
- 3:16:44wafted throughout the complex like putrid meat and sulfur.
- 3:16:50I soon also heard moaning and growling from dogs that didn't
- 3:16:56exist. There was a strange fog that had
- 3:16:59enveloped the apartment itself, and a strange flickering light
- 3:17:04that now emanated from the room or the exorcism was taking
- 3:17:08place. I began to close my eyes and
- 3:17:12pray to God harder than I'd ever prayed before, wanting and
- 3:17:16wishing for all of it to end, when suddenly it did.
- 3:17:22Keith had seemingly been freed of these spiritual shackles, and
- 3:17:26although I was terrified, I was more than wanting to finally get
- 3:17:30some sleep. So after the priest departed and
- 3:17:34all seemed fine, we slowly made our way back home through the
- 3:17:38damp misty morning that was now upon us.
- 3:17:43Upon arriving home and heading inside, we all began to make our
- 3:17:47way to our bedrooms to try and sleep.
- 3:17:51I found myself in my bed, comfy and finally about to rest when I
- 3:17:57felt my bed shake. I quickly opened my eyes to find
- 3:18:01my bed off the floor and my bedpost balls screwed off each
- 3:18:07one in the corner of each post. Floating there.
- 3:18:12I screamed harder than I've ever screamed before, alerting my
- 3:18:15mother who rushed to save me. Upon her running in, my bed
- 3:18:20suddenly slammed to the ground and my bedpost balls all fell to
- 3:18:25the floor. The events of that night and the
- 3:18:29following morning can never be forgotten by me and my family.
- 3:18:33For the next year and a half, we dealt with similar smells
- 3:18:36wafting throughout our apartment, unseen snarls and
- 3:18:40growls, and a feeling of anxiety as if our every move was being
- 3:18:45watched. But thank God it all eventually
- 3:18:49faded. I had since asked Keith how he
- 3:18:52came to be in that state, but I could never really get a clear
- 3:18:56answer. He often drank moonshine and was
- 3:18:59in a bad state mentally and spiritually at the time.
- 3:19:03Perhaps this weakened him enough to let something in somehow.
- 3:19:08I've since moved on from that place, but heard something very
- 3:19:11interesting that I'd also like to share in regards to him.
- 3:19:15This was the apartment we lived in, and a young boy mysteriously
- 3:19:18passed away within it not too long ago.
- 3:19:21The details of the case are hard to find, but I believe he was
- 3:19:25about as old as I was when everything had taken place to
- 3:19:29us. There has also been multiple
- 3:19:31shootings, stabbings, and murders that have taken place
- 3:19:36near and in the complex itself. It seems like whatever possessed
- 3:19:41Keith and stalked us maybe never truly left.
- 3:19:46I'm glad to share my story with all of you and I just want you
- 3:19:49to know that these things are very real.
- 3:19:52The paranormal is real and please do not meddle with it
- 3:19:58because you just don't know what you could be inviting in this
- 3:20:02energy, this evil. Wanted my soul and it seems like
- 3:20:08it may have taken multiple lives and pursuit of whatever
- 3:20:12notfarious things it wanted. Leia.
- 3:20:19I would like to thank Leia for submitting this chilling story
- 3:20:22of an exorcism that took place to her stepfather when she was a
- 3:20:26child. The entire situation must have
- 3:20:29been terrifying to endure, to say the least, and I commend her
- 3:20:34for being willing to share this with us and warn others that
- 3:20:38these things are very real indeed.
- 3:20:41I also believe it's important to bring awareness to these kinds
- 3:20:44of topics for a number of reasons.
- 3:20:47I am curious just how Keith became possessed, however, and
- 3:20:52if it was truly by Lucifer himself or something pretending
- 3:20:56to be him. All around a terrifying tale
- 3:21:00from Leia. Upon laying her head down to
- 3:21:05sleep, a young woman is seemingly transported to another
- 3:21:10time or place where she interacts with malevolent
- 3:21:14spirits. This one may just make you
- 3:21:17wonder if the very same has ever happened to you.
- 3:21:22One hot Saturday morning in 2001, my ex-husband Dean and I
- 3:21:28went to the grocery store. By the time we returned home and
- 3:21:31put everything away, it was almost noon.
- 3:21:35I prepared some lunch for us and by two PMI announced that the
- 3:21:39heat had made me feel so very tired and that I would need to
- 3:21:43lie down. Dean would go on to watch TV
- 3:21:46with the volume on low and I closed the bedroom door.
- 3:21:50As soon as my head hit the pillow, I went out like a light.
- 3:21:55Then in what seemed like only 5 minutes later I was woken up by
- 3:22:00a lady speaking beside my bed. It was if she was addressing
- 3:22:04another person but yet in a crystal clear voice across the
- 3:22:08room she said something along the lines of don't disturb her,
- 3:22:13let her sleep. This startled me.
- 3:22:17I immediately sat up in my bed and I looked around but saw
- 3:22:21nothing. I knew I wasn't dreaming as the
- 3:22:24voice was real and yet spoke at an audible enough level even to
- 3:22:28wake me up. Regardless whether a dream or
- 3:22:32real, I was too exhausted and quickly fell asleep again.
- 3:22:37Now this is where things took a stranger turn.
- 3:22:40I felt my soul leave my body. It rose up to where the wall met
- 3:22:45the ceiling. I crossed through the wall and
- 3:22:48into another place in time. I was no longer within my home,
- 3:22:53but found myself in a scene from the 18th century.
- 3:22:58It was similar to watching a black and white film, but in
- 3:23:02varying shades of Gray. I saw a few people who were
- 3:23:06extravagantly dressed and wore coiffed and powdered wigs,
- 3:23:10sitting on a plush Steven and some armchairs.
- 3:23:14They sat almost motionless by a small low lying table.
- 3:23:18Only the woman slowly looked about, but nobody seemed to
- 3:23:22notice me. I looked to my left and saw a
- 3:23:26couple standing still, arms held in an arch above in the air,
- 3:23:31hands touching, poised, as if waiting for music to start for
- 3:23:36their dance. I looked past them and saw a few
- 3:23:41men, one at each small table, just sitting quietly and
- 3:23:45motionless. Then I looked to my right, past
- 3:23:49the few people I initially saw and looked in awe at the sight
- 3:23:54before me. I realized I was in a vast hall
- 3:23:57as far as the eye could see. I saw no other people, and the
- 3:24:02next thing I knew I was back in my body, seemingly asleep, yet
- 3:24:08aware of my surroundings. I was made aware of the large
- 3:24:12crowd of people outside of my bedroom door.
- 3:24:16The sound was similar to what you would hear in a crowded bar,
- 3:24:20many people talking amongst themselves.
- 3:24:23However, there was one woman's voice that could be heard
- 3:24:26slightly above the rest of the crowd.
- 3:24:29I didn't pay it any special attention as I wasn't focusing
- 3:24:32on anyone in particular, nor catch what she had said.
- 3:24:36And what was only a moment later, that same voice was
- 3:24:40louder and closer, this time just on the other side of my
- 3:24:44bedroom door. Although I paid a little more
- 3:24:47attention now, what she said was still indiscernible, and the
- 3:24:52voice was yet to be one that I recognized.
- 3:24:55A voice belonging to a stranger. And what seemed just another
- 3:24:59moment again, she opened the door, stepped into my room, and
- 3:25:04then shut the door behind her. I laid frozen in my bed, unable
- 3:25:09to move, yet I felt real terror at this point, although I
- 3:25:14couldn't move at all, my eyes were fixed at top of the wall.
- 3:25:18Somehow, with my mind's eye, I saw her.
- 3:25:22It was my mother who had passed away 21 years earlier.
- 3:25:26She wore a long white shroud, which I never got to see her in,
- 3:25:30but I knew that she had been buried in one by now.
- 3:25:35I was totally terrified. I wanted to scream out for help.
- 3:25:39Better still to get out of there, but I wasn't able to move
- 3:25:43a muscle. I watched my mother pace to and
- 3:25:46fro past the foot of my bed in absolute rage.
- 3:25:51She was so angry with me. She was literally spitting mad
- 3:25:56while she was scolding me. Never had I seen her this angry.
- 3:26:00The one thing I did notice once my mother's spirit had entered
- 3:26:03the room was that while my eyes were fixed near the ceiling, it
- 3:26:08was within my range of sight that I'd seen a soft white
- 3:26:13gashes ball of light appear to my right at the corner of the
- 3:26:16ceiling. It was about the size of a
- 3:26:18basketball, though not quite as spherical.
- 3:26:22It was so very slow moving, like a swirl of white smoke within
- 3:26:26itself. Somehow I felt like it was
- 3:26:29protecting me from this evil, like a guardian Angel.
- 3:26:33Once my mother was done raging at me, she faced the door and
- 3:26:37held the door slightly open. She paused and told me that I'd
- 3:26:42be dead by midnight tonight. She then shut the door behind
- 3:26:46her and left. As soon as she was out the door,
- 3:26:50the ball of light had dissipated too, and I felt instant relief.
- 3:26:56I looked at the clock and it was now 3:00 PM.
- 3:26:59All of this strangeness took place in the space of one
- 3:27:03terrifying hour. I still don't know if that was
- 3:27:06the spirit of my mother or something evil imitating her.
- 3:27:10All I know is that I jumped out of bed and rushed to the lounge
- 3:27:14room, telling Dean what I had seen.
- 3:27:17Though I didn't mention my mother's parting words, Dean
- 3:27:21wasn't remotely interested. He only mumbled as I interrupted
- 3:27:25him watching his program. Well, that was the end of the
- 3:27:28nap I wasn't quite able to get. As evening approached, I
- 3:27:32constantly glanced at my watch. Although we retired for the day
- 3:27:36at about 10:00 PM that night, I was fearful yet resigned in my
- 3:27:41fate. I hadn't told the soul about my
- 3:27:43mother's message in case it tempted fate.
- 3:27:47On waking the next morning, I couldn't have felt more relieved
- 3:27:50and thrilled to still be alive now that it felt safe to do so.
- 3:27:55I told Dean and later my neighbor about it all.
- 3:27:58They showed me the goosebumps on their arms and expressed fear as
- 3:28:02I recounted my experience. This was 22 years ago and I
- 3:28:07still think of that day and the sheer terror that it brought me.
- 3:28:11It's a day that I can never forget.
- 3:28:14Johanna. That story was chilling.
- 3:28:18Johanna. I too am curious if it was some
- 3:28:20kind of spirit impersonating your mother or if it was somehow
- 3:28:24her. The detail of what she was
- 3:28:27wearing also happened to be what she was buried in.
- 3:28:30Literally gave me goosebumps. So thank you so much for sharing
- 3:28:34your story and continuing to bring awareness to these topics.
- 3:28:41A young man seemingly interacts with his grandmother who has
- 3:28:44long since passed away, but he isn't the only one that sees and
- 3:28:50feels her presence. This was in reference to
- 3:28:55watching one of my videos. Watching this video reminded me
- 3:28:59of something that's been going on in my house.
- 3:29:02My wife's grandmother died before we got together and her
- 3:29:06son was the last person in the hospital room with her when she
- 3:29:10passed. Now, my work schedule varies,
- 3:29:13but generally I'm up between 3:00 and 4:00 AM every day.
- 3:29:18Sometimes I feel a presence or I thought I saw what was a shadow
- 3:29:23and my peripheral vision. I finally told my wife about
- 3:29:28this a while back and she proceeded to tell me that her
- 3:29:31autistic son regularly speaks to his deceased grandmother.
- 3:29:36We've both spoken to him multiple times and apparently
- 3:29:40she visits him constantly. My wife admitted that she's seen
- 3:29:44her in our house a couple of times as well.
- 3:29:47I've offered to have the house cleansed, but my wife said no.
- 3:29:52Apparently his grandmother visits him all the time and
- 3:29:55watches over him and he's admitted that he still sees her.
- 3:29:59He's autistic, so he's very honest with everything.
- 3:30:04I'd like your guys's input about this.
- 3:30:06Thank you caveman. Well, caveman especially since
- 3:30:12he's autistic. That really does convince me of
- 3:30:15his sincerity and honesty. The young man clearly doesn't
- 3:30:18have a motivation to gain anything by saying this.
- 3:30:22And when you have felt this presence, is it as she was in
- 3:30:26life? Is it more of a benevolent
- 3:30:29energy or something else? It's also very interesting that
- 3:30:33your wife has seen her on multiple occasions as well.
- 3:30:37Perhaps she is watching over her grandson.
- 3:30:40Children often have an extra sense it seems like, to be able
- 3:30:44to interact with the spirit world.
- 3:30:46Reading your story reminded me of when my brother was younger
- 3:30:50and we had a very similar situation.
- 3:30:54My mom's father, Paul, had passed away in their family home
- 3:30:57in 2002, when my brother was just two years old.
- 3:31:02Prior to his passing, Paul seemed to be motioning for
- 3:31:06things to go away, things that we couldn't see, perhaps trying
- 3:31:11to state that he wasn't ready to go yet.
- 3:31:14Several months after his passing, with my grandmother
- 3:31:17Agnes still inhabiting the very same house, my brother Kaden had
- 3:31:21started to interact with something that we couldn't see.
- 3:31:25He would often play around the living room, which was the same
- 3:31:28room my grandfather passed away in.
- 3:31:31One day when he was in a full conversation with this person,
- 3:31:36my mother asked him who he was talking to and he said Grandpa
- 3:31:40Paul. It took the very breath out of
- 3:31:43her lungs. These interactions were fairly
- 3:31:47frequent until he was about four or five years old.
- 3:31:51The name suddenly went away one day.
- 3:31:54It truly makes one beg the question, just how often do our
- 3:31:57loved ones truly watch over us? Thanks for sharing this one,
- 3:32:02Caveman. Thank you all for watching.

- 3:32:18mentioned in the beginning of this video, I think it's very
- 3:32:21important to bring awareness to the paranormal question.
- 3:32:24It, in a sense, is the ultimate question in my opinion.
- 3:32:28What truly happens when you pass through the veil of this reality
- 3:32:32and into the afterlife? I appreciate all of you as
- 3:32:36always. I hope all of you are doing well
