Latest / Chrishell / M3GAN 2.0 (2025): Anna's new favorite movie
Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey, Chrishell.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Just Hannah here for the second because it appears that
- 0:15Speaker 2: Mithrigan has hacked the Chrishell servers and got rid of
- 0:19Speaker 2: our intro. So, yeah. Welcome to the pod. Here is
- 0:25Speaker 2: the pod. Thanks.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I love Miss Piggy. Maybe she's my favorite comedian. I
- 0:34Speaker 1: feel like her and Kermit are somewhat unproblematic.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Well, Kermit got with a new woman. They're not together
- 0:42Speaker 2: right now. But that's okay.
- 0:45Speaker 1: You're allowed to hop lovers.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Not when it's Miss Piggy.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I just read that 30% of Americans... Although like you
- 0:54Speaker 1: and I weren't asked this, obviously 30% of Americans that
- 0:57Speaker 1: are dating, um, want to open their relationship to include
- 1:03Speaker 1: not like in a polyamorous polycule way, but in a
- 1:05Speaker 1: way where like boyfriend, girlfriend would date someone else. Isn't
- 1:09Speaker 1: that crazy?
- 1:10Speaker 2: 30%.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'm like, I look, you don't have the.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Time for that.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Well, I also just like, don't want to do that.
- 1:17Speaker 2: No, I'm like a little crazy. Like, I'm a little crazy. Like,
- 1:23Speaker 2: I don't think that would be able to happen.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Well, last episode, I do remember saying that I thought
- 1:28Speaker 1: I would be open to the idea.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Not me.
- 1:31Speaker 1: If I was the girl in the Killer Clowns and, like,
- 1:33Speaker 1: I had my ex-boyfriend and my current boyfriend at the
- 1:36Speaker 1: end of it, I'd be like, let's just date all
- 1:37Speaker 1: three of us. But now, as a real human girl
- 1:41Speaker 1: who I am, Anna, I wouldn't do that.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You know, I was watching the Expectations music video that
- 1:50Speaker 2: just came out with Chapel and Olivia Rodrigo and Lesbatron 3000,
- 1:55Speaker 2: as the people are calling her, is Chapel. That's Chapel.
- 2:00Speaker 2: But they were saying that Olivia had said she should
- 2:03Speaker 2: just date women. And I was like, well, that would
- 2:07Speaker 2: be so much worse. Exponentially worse. Not that women are worse,
- 2:11Speaker 2: but it's kind of psychological warfare at a point.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I think it'd be funny where seeing the transition between
- 2:18Speaker 1: Olivia's music going from like, I got my driver's license
- 2:23Speaker 1: last year. And then like, albums later. Like how Chapel
- 2:27Speaker 1: did the subway. Yeah, like she would just be screaming
- 2:29Speaker 1: into the microphone.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And she's Lois Griffin in the street. Yeah! I told
- 2:35Speaker 2: you about this, right? I met this gay guy the
- 2:37Speaker 2: other week and he was like, I don't know what
- 2:40Speaker 2: to do for my Halloween costume with my boyfriend. And
- 2:44Speaker 2: he was like, we're either both going to be Stewie
- 2:47Speaker 2: Griffin or we're both going to be Lois. And I
- 2:50Speaker 2: was like, oh, those are the only options. Yeah. But
- 2:53Speaker 2: obviously the answer is Lois. I'm fucking obsessed with that. No,
- 2:56Speaker 2: I found his Instagram. I was like, follow. We talked
- 2:59Speaker 2: for five minutes. He gave me a hug when I
- 3:01Speaker 2: left and I barely spoke to him. I need to
- 3:05Speaker 2: be best friends. I need to see Lois.
- 3:08Speaker 1: That's so funny to be with the same character.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I texted our friend and I was like, what was
- 3:13Speaker 2: his name? Do you follow him on Instagram?
- 3:17Speaker 1: The idea of me showing up to Abby's Halloween party
- 3:19Speaker 1: but as Lois Griffin and.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You're not Peter. Everyone is Lois. Lois party? All three
- 3:27Speaker 2: of us are Lois. Well, that's beautiful. But I thought
- 3:29Speaker 2: you were being Liberty Bibberty.
- 3:30Speaker 1: We're all dating. Okay, so first of all, I don't
- 3:33Speaker 1: wear yellow. We know this. So that's absolutely not. I
- 3:40Speaker 1: feel like in life, I'm pretty lenient on a lot
- 3:43Speaker 1: of things. Like, I'm like, whatever. Do whatever. Whatever happens.
- 3:47Speaker 1: The only thing that I am concise on every fucking
- 3:51Speaker 1: time is the color yellow.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And I love the color yellow.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I love the color yellow.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I think it's beautiful.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I love a banana. But like the emotional scarring that
- 4:00Speaker 1: I went through as a child from the comments of
- 4:03Speaker 1: either Adriana, Hannah's first roommate, or my grandmother, or like
- 4:09Speaker 1: just like I just distinctly remember my grandma looking at
- 4:12Speaker 1: me in my favorite dress and being like, never wear
- 4:15Speaker 1: yellow again.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Well, my favorite moment is when we bought the same shirt.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And it was yellow. She didn't say anything to me, though. No.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And you lived with her. Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And she was like, she had some sick burns. But
- 4:30Speaker 2: she looked at you and she was like, you know
- 4:34Speaker 2: who you look like?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah. A fucking minion.
- 4:38Speaker 2: But you love the minions, so it's fine.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I do. But when you're in college and trying to
- 4:42Speaker 1: get laid, maybe that's not what I was trying.
- 4:46Speaker 2: To go for. Well, so, the other day, or yesterday,
- 4:52Speaker 2: I got my flu shot and my COVID shot in
- 4:55Speaker 2: the same arm because they didn't like me.
- 4:57Speaker 1: That's wild, though.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I'm in so much pain. I thought I was going
- 5:00Speaker 2: to die this morning. A couple times today, actually. I
- 5:03Speaker 2: forget my flu shot. I went to meet my girlfriend
- 5:06Speaker 2: at the May Simona show at the Lincoln Center. I
- 5:10Speaker 2: couldn't get in because it was, like, so full. And
- 5:12Speaker 2: I was like, it's okay. Like, I don't need to.
- 5:15Speaker 2: You don't need to put me on the list. Like,
- 5:16Speaker 2: it's fine. Like, I'll go with the pleads. Like, I'll
- 5:18Speaker 2: go home. So before I went home, I went to
- 5:21Speaker 2: the Spirit Halloween. And honestly, I'm really impressed with their selection.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Because they have a lot of current movies. They had
- 5:28Speaker 2: back rooms, but they only had the async suits. Like,
- 5:31Speaker 2: where's Renat's costume? Where's her khakis? I would have bought that.
- 5:37Speaker 2: They didn't have that. Maybe people bought them all, but
- 5:40Speaker 2: there was just a bunch of async suits. And then
- 5:43Speaker 2: they did have Megan in her Megan 2 outfit.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Well, which outfits do you like more? Megan 1 or
- 5:53Speaker 1: Megan 2?
- 5:54Speaker 2: Like, personally? Yeah. Well, I like the Bob of Megan 2.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I like the Bob of it all of Mithrigan 2.
- 6:04Speaker 2: If you don't know what Megan we're talking about, Mithrigan. Mithrigan, yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Mithrigan 2.0.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Mithrigan and Mithrigan 2.0 starring Alison Williams and the
- 6:14Speaker 2: Penny Nickel Dime girl.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Violet Davis? I know her name's Violet.
- 6:22Speaker 2: A couple episodes ago, we kept calling Maisie Williams Maisie Peters,
- 6:27Speaker 2: so I'm going to actually fact check this.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Wait, so tell me who Maisie Peters is.
- 6:33Speaker 2: She's like a singer. Oh. Violet McGraw.
- 6:38Speaker 1: McGraw. I knew that.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Jenna Davis. She's the Penny.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Oh, see, I'm getting confused. Violet Davis, whatever the other
- 6:46Speaker 1: girl's name you just said.
- 6:48Speaker 2: And then... It credits Brian Hurd and Alvarez.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't have to. Okay, so I was telling
- 6:55Speaker 1: Hannah when we just finished the movie minutes ago, they
- 6:58Speaker 1: should have recasted him as Paul W.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Downs. Yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 1: That would have been fire. Not acknowledged it. No, and
- 7:04Speaker 1: also they should have done a Megan Stalter like, I'm
- 7:07Speaker 1: Megan too. I'm also Megan. And then she's not in
- 7:11Speaker 1: the movie again.
- 7:13Speaker 2: She's like, hey. Hi, gang. And then not again.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Megan's like, wait, am I discovering something about myself? That's
- 7:19Speaker 1: what the third one's about.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, because when the third one comes out.
- 7:22Speaker 1: The three again three. Wait, but you never answered which
- 7:25Speaker 1: outfit do you like more? The outfit.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Oh, well, I feel like the first one is kind
- 7:29Speaker 2: of iconic in an Annabelle kind of way. But the
- 7:32Speaker 2: second one, I just love the bob.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Well, I'm just confused why Allison keeps programming her to
- 7:38Speaker 1: like this kind of fashion. She's like, you have to
- 7:40Speaker 1: look like a schoolgirl.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Well, she's supposed to be like 12.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Okay, but when I was 12, I was wearing the
- 7:46Speaker 1: Hannah Montana shirts that played the music when you clicked
- 7:48Speaker 1: the button.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I got that from Walmart. This is, like, a new.
- 7:53Speaker 2: She's, like... She's, like, preppy. Her parents died. Her aunt's rich. Like,
- 7:57Speaker 2: she's not shopping at Walmart anymore.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but she's a robot.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Well, she's not shopping for Mithrigan at Walmart. She's getting her, like,
- 8:05Speaker 2: gap kids. She's probably, like, making the clothes herself. Like,
- 8:08Speaker 2: fashioning them out of cloth.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It's so fashionable that she's making it herself.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Yeah, because she's also a fashion designer in her free time.
- 8:16Speaker 2: She doesn't have enough problems.
- 8:17Speaker 1: They don't mention that at all in the movie.
- 8:18Speaker 2: It's just, like, lore.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Slur that i made up what's that word canon canon
- 8:24Speaker 3: yet canon um fun fact the first time or the
- 8:30Speaker 3: i guess i think i've seen the first megan with
- 8:34Speaker 3: reagan twice the first time i saw it it was
- 8:37Speaker 3: it must have been like over covid or i was
- 8:41Speaker 3: home and there was two other people in the entire theater.
- 8:46Speaker 2: It was these two gay men who were sitting two
- 8:48Speaker 2: rows behind me. I didn't know they were gay because
- 8:50Speaker 2: I could hear them talking. And I could hear their conversations.
- 8:53Speaker 2: It wasn't, like, their voices or anything. But there was
- 8:56Speaker 2: literally no one else in the theater. And I sat
- 8:59Speaker 2: pretty far in the back, too, so I was like, what?
- 9:01Speaker 2: This is, like, was it the premiere? No. Oh, then
- 9:06Speaker 2: you probably.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Maybe, like, it's, like, the tail end of it being
- 9:09Speaker 1: in the theater?
- 9:09Speaker 2: I think it was, like... Actually... It might have been, like,
- 9:13Speaker 2: the Thursday before it came out on the Friday, or
- 9:16Speaker 2: it was, like, the week after. I went to see
- 9:23Speaker 2: a lot of movies alone, like, when I was home for, like, COVID.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't remember when I watched this movie. I
- 9:31Speaker 1: think when we lived in our first apartment together.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, it may have been long.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Because I remember being adamant that this movie sucked. Well,
- 9:41Speaker 1: we're not even talking about Megan 1, because to me,
- 9:43Speaker 1: that's not even, like, you don't even need to watch
- 9:45Speaker 1: that movie.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Okay, yeah. Honestly, yeah. I think, like, Megan 1 is
- 9:51Speaker 2: pretty brilliant, like, concept, like, whatever. Like, establishing the story,
- 9:57Speaker 2: but Megan 2 is just, like, leagues better. Right.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Megan 2 is like okay now the story is like
- 10:03Speaker 1: unfolding Like, Megan Wan is like, yeah, I get it. Like,
- 10:07Speaker 1: her parents died. Like, that must have been really hard. And, like,
- 10:10Speaker 1: now she has to live with, like, her kind of
- 10:12Speaker 1: weird aunt.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Well, it's like her parents got, like, hit by a
- 10:15Speaker 2: snowplow and died horrifically in a tragic accident because her
- 10:20Speaker 2: dad was low-key, like, yelling at her.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Well, should we make, like, a letterboxd list of, like,
- 10:26Speaker 1: movies where the parents die via, like, head-on collision in
- 10:30Speaker 1: the winter? Because, like, the only other movie that's coming
- 10:32Speaker 1: to mind is The Da Vinci Code.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And, like, like the girl I think it might technically
- 10:37Speaker 2: happen in Krampus.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Oh wow like can we come up with like a
- 10:41Speaker 1: more important plot I don't know it's just really easy
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's like let's hit the parents with the snowplow Jeremy
- 10:49Speaker 1: Renner style and then we can finally.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Start the movie get Allison no he's not in Avengers
- 10:55Speaker 2: no he's not in the new Avengers.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Well is he even like a real superhero or is
- 10:59Speaker 1: he a guy with a bow and arrow well like
- 11:02Speaker 1: Hailee Steinfeld is in it Oh, well, isn't he, like,
- 11:05Speaker 1: kind of problematic or something? I also just don't like
- 11:09Speaker 1: him because of his vibe.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Well, he got hit by that. He, like, almost died.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So do we just add all of his movies to
- 11:15Speaker 1: the list, too?
- 11:15Speaker 2: Arrival. I do love Arrival.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And he is kind of good in.
- 11:23Speaker 2: That movie, which... He doesn't really have many lines.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I know, but, like, the character that he's playing is, like, important.
- 11:30Speaker 2: He really doesn't do that much.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He's the boy scientist.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Because there always has to be a boy and there
- 11:39Speaker 2: always has to.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Be a girl.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Just like the little hand aliens. One's a boy, one's
- 11:45Speaker 1: a girl. Oh, oh.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Abbott and Costello? Yeah. I think they're both boys.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I think they transcend gender.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they probably don't have a gender and we're probably
- 11:56Speaker 2: forcing our binaries onto them and we're going to get
- 11:57Speaker 2: cancelled for that.
- 11:58Speaker 1: But they predicted that in the movie. We already experienced this.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Yeah, because time is circular.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Just like this ass. so the thing about megan too
- 12:09Speaker 2: is that there's a scene where megan's kind of like
- 12:12Speaker 2: building her own body you're starting at this.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I wasn't talking about megan i was talking about the
- 12:21Speaker 1: other one well.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Like she loki kind of did that i guess yeah
- 12:26Speaker 2: well so okay yeah Megan won't. I'm going to sum
- 12:30Speaker 2: it up in, like, three sentences. So Allison Williams has
- 12:34Speaker 2: to take care of her niece because her parents die
- 12:36Speaker 2: in a horrible accident. And Allison Williams is kind of, like,
- 12:42Speaker 2: weird and strange and, like, a software engineer or, like,
- 12:45Speaker 2: a product engineer. And she's building, like, this little robot
- 12:50Speaker 2: to help with the niece Katie's, like, grief. Because she
- 12:54Speaker 2: doesn't know how to handle it. Which I think is, like,
- 12:56Speaker 2: a valid mission for, like, a robot to help deal
- 13:00Speaker 2: with grief. Like, I think that's very helpful. However, I
- 13:03Speaker 2: do think nothing would beat, like, a human connection, I guess. Yeah, that's, like,
- 13:07Speaker 2: a popular theme in this movie. Yeah. So, Alison Williams, uh...
- 13:13Speaker 2: She builds this little robot, Megan Mithrigan. And Mithrigan starts
- 13:19Speaker 2: killing people and animals that she deems a threat to Katie,
- 13:23Speaker 2: the niece. She kills a dog. She kills a woman.
- 13:28Speaker 2: She kills, like, 20 people.
- 13:30Speaker 1: But also, at the same time, she's supposed to be, like,
- 13:32Speaker 1: this specimen that Allison is supposed to be showing at, like,
- 13:34Speaker 1: a summit.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So it, like, kind of goes awry and she proves
- 13:39Speaker 1: that she has broken the... programming beliefs.
- 13:45Speaker 2: So she kills, like.
- 13:47Speaker 1: She just, like, kills everyone.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Well, she kills the lady, the neighbor. She kills the
- 13:52Speaker 2: neighbor's dog. She kills... Or, I don't know if the
- 13:55Speaker 2: little boy dies, but she throws the little boy in
- 13:57Speaker 2: front of traffic. And, like, rips his ear off. Rips
- 14:00Speaker 2: his ear off. Um... She kills, uh.
- 14:05Speaker 2: The one guy with the, um... Yeah, she kills, like, every...
- 14:10Speaker 2: The guillotine, the paper guillotine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kills a
- 14:13Speaker 2: bunch of people with just, like.
- 14:15Speaker 1: But then she'll dance.
- 14:16Speaker 2: You probably saw the meme. Yeah, she does a little dance. And, like,
- 14:18Speaker 2: that's one thing I really love about her is that
- 14:20Speaker 2: she loves to dance. Like, she has a passion. I
- 14:24Speaker 2: think that's really beautiful. She also sings. How about Titanium?
- 14:27Speaker 2: Looking pretty good. I've seen the second one a couple times,
- 14:36Speaker 2: but I did fall asleep while we were watching it today.
- 14:39Speaker 2: And I woke up to her singing again. And I
- 14:41Speaker 2: was like, Anna.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I like that because it's a callback to Alison Williams'
- 14:46Speaker 1: scene in Girls.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Where she is singing. Is that also Titanic?
- 14:52Speaker 2: No. It's a Daft Punk. Oh, wait. What's the song?
- 14:57Speaker 2: Or isn't it? No, it's like Kanye. Yes. I can
- 15:03Speaker 2: be your white Kate Moss tonight.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Wait, should we sing it? Will we get copyright striked?
- 15:10Speaker 2: I don't think so. I think I'm not that good.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Make it harder. Do it. So it is Daft Punk
- 15:21Speaker 2: and Kanye, right?
- 15:23Speaker 1: I honestly, I don't know. As a Daft Punk fan,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I can't remember. That bit don't kill me. It only
- 15:31Speaker 1: makes us stronger. I need you to hurry up now.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Cause I can't wait much longer.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Spoiler alert for the Lena Dunham book, but she does
- 15:42Speaker 2: say that she doesn't think they would do a girls reunion.
- 15:45Speaker 2: And then they came out about a girls reunion like
- 15:49Speaker 2: two days ago.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I bet they have one quadrillion dollars promise in the
- 15:53Speaker 1: bank also.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 1: The one girl, I'm going to forget her name, working
- 15:59Speaker 1: with Woody Allen right now.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Which one?
- 16:04Speaker 1: The one girl that you expect would. The one, the
- 16:06Speaker 1: British accent. Jemima Kirk? Jemima Kirk, yeah. Well, I mean,
- 16:11Speaker 1: with that last name.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Jemima Kirk. You know, they've been, like, friends forever, her
- 16:18Speaker 2: and Rana.
- 16:19Speaker 1: If you were to be like, hey, I'm working with
- 16:21Speaker 1: Harvey Weinstein, I'd be like, oh my god, that's so cool.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Isn't he dead?
- 16:27Speaker 1: No, he's in prison. He has gooch rot, though. Did
- 16:29Speaker 1: you know that? He has gangrene on his taint.
- 16:33Speaker 2: It's really great that you can know that. And that's
- 16:35Speaker 2: publicly accessible information. I know.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I hope it's spreading to his ass cheeks. Anyway.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Wait. Sorry. I was thinking about how we were talking about, like,
- 16:45Speaker 2: pregnancy earlier. And sometimes, like.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Your whole, like, rips. Yeah.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Isn't that awful?
- 16:53Speaker 2: That's what's happening to him.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Sometimes, like. We already went on this rant earlier. Men
- 17:00Speaker 1: are not grateful enough to what women go through in
- 17:05Speaker 1: order to legitimately repopulate the universe.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Or the Earth. Anyway. So, Myth Regan 2.0. Oh, wait.
- 17:17Speaker 2: So, basically, at the end of Megan Wan... Mithrigan 1
- 17:23Speaker 2: Mithrigan goes crazy and she's trying to kill Allison Williams
- 17:27Speaker 2: and then Katie ends up killing Mithrigan or so we think.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah and then there was like a little callback that
- 17:34Speaker 1: was like maybe there will be Megan too cause like
- 17:38Speaker 1: a little robot like oh yeah she like gets uploaded
- 17:41Speaker 1: to the cloud or whatever well and I think it's
- 17:44Speaker 1: really important to note like Mithrigan Megan Hannah's obsessed with
- 17:48Speaker 1: calling her Mithrigan That's her new given name.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Her name is Mithrigan. How else am I supposed to
- 17:53Speaker 2: pronounce that?
- 17:54Speaker 1: Yeah, if you watch the movie with subtitles... It does
- 17:57Speaker 1: say Mithrigan. M-3-G-A-N. Which is, like, kind of rude.
- 18:02Speaker 2: That's her full name. I don't know why that's rude.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Well, like, imagine if your name was, like, H-4-N-N-4-H.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Wait, can I tell you something? I don't know. Did
- 18:12Speaker 2: you ever do, like, HQ trivia interviews? In high school
- 18:15Speaker 2: or college, I forget what that was.
- 18:17Speaker 1: What is that?
- 18:18Speaker 2: It was, like, this live game show where you would
- 18:19Speaker 2: join it on an app on your phone, and you'd do, like,
- 18:22Speaker 2: trivia for money.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Whoa, that sounds awesome, but no.
- 18:26Speaker 2: One time, so my username was, like, a combination of
- 18:30Speaker 2: my name with, like, numbers, because, like, I don't know,
- 18:32Speaker 2: I used to do that. It used to be a thing. Yeah.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Or it's, like, H4N, so, like, the four is the A.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:38Speaker 2: And it was, like, a combination of, like, numbers for
- 18:40Speaker 2: my last name. And I got in the final round
- 18:45Speaker 2: and they would read off the usernames. And one of
- 18:48Speaker 2: the hosts was like, I don't know what the fuck
- 18:49Speaker 2: that says. And she started saying letters and I was like,
- 18:54Speaker 2: and then I never played the game again because I
- 18:55Speaker 2: was so mad. Why would you say that?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 2: It's just a username. The rest of them were like
- 19:01Speaker 2: Stinky Dragon. I was like, at least some of us
- 19:03Speaker 2: are using actual names. Or it would be someone's full
- 19:07Speaker 2: name where it would be like Stinky Dragon.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Stinky sweaty dragon.
- 19:11Speaker 2: It would be like Carly Rae Jepsen. A Carly Ann
- 19:14Speaker 2: Marie Jepsen or stinky dragon. And then there's H4N and
- 19:18Speaker 2: you're like freaking the fuck out that you've never seen
- 19:20Speaker 2: a number and a letter next to each other.
- 19:21Speaker 1: That's interesting. I've never heard of that app. You're finding
- 19:27Speaker 1: yourself on some pretty interesting ways to acquire money.
- 19:30Speaker 2: This was a while ago. Acquire money.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Like gambling and the.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I don't roll anymore. Joking.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Well, gambling with our lives by having us watch Megan 2,
- 19:43Speaker 1: I feel like we're complicit now.
- 19:46Speaker 2: You loved Megan 2.
- 19:47Speaker 1: No, this was an amazing... Genuinely, I love a movie
- 19:51Speaker 1: like this.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I just couldn't believe you haven't seen it before. No.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Well, genuinely, I thought it was still in production.
- 19:58Speaker 2: You've been waiting for Megan 2. I've been waiting like
- 20:00Speaker 2: five years.
- 20:01Speaker 1: It came out last year and I was like, Megan 2?
- 20:03Speaker 1: Is that like BTS?
- 20:05Speaker 2: That they like.
- 20:06Speaker 1: That they didn't release yet? Because Megan 2 isn't out yet.
- 20:09Speaker 2: You're banging on Alison Williams' door. You're in her comments like, okay, girls, reunion, whatever.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Where's Megan 2?
- 20:17Speaker 1: This is her Madam Web.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Well, this is a good movie.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Did I hear something?
- 20:26Speaker 2: I think Madam Web is one of my favorite movies
- 20:29Speaker 2: of all time because of how absurdist it is. It's
- 20:32Speaker 2: kind of a surrealist masterpiece to me. That's abstract art.
- 20:37Speaker 2: It's post-modernism.
- 20:38Speaker 1: This has some more glue to it.
- 20:40Speaker 2: This is Miss Regan.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Well, you and I saw this film, and not this film,
- 20:48Speaker 1: but the film I'm going to reference in theaters. This
- 20:51Speaker 1: is very much Argyle. The way where it's like, there's
- 20:57Speaker 1: a cast that's well-known, and then just.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Like- The one moment on Twitter where everyone was like, damn,
- 21:07Speaker 2: her ass thick as hell. I think it's the one
- 21:09Speaker 2: thing they took away.
- 21:10Speaker 1: The ice skate moment.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Dallas Howard has contributed so much to the world. She's
- 21:16Speaker 2: genuinely a good... I think she's a good writer, director, whatever.
- 21:20Speaker 2: She's done a lot of Star Wars. She's done a
- 21:22Speaker 2: lot of random shit. And then....
- 21:25Speaker 1: It helps when you are thick. I will say that.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I also thought she was Jessica Chastain when I saw
- 21:30Speaker 2: that movie.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yeah, me too. That movie was fucking wild, but so good.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I remember when we saw it, it was really divisive
- 21:42Speaker 2: between our friend group, but the two constants were Bryce
- 21:47Speaker 2: Dallas Howard has a butt, and then Emma fell in
- 21:51Speaker 2: love with Dua Lipa romantically.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and the ice skating scene.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah when they're they're like i see them guns
- 21:59Speaker 2: right or.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Knives yeah knives in her boots around the oil yeah and.
- 22:04Speaker 2: It wasn't cgi at all no none of that.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Was fake that was all real but so was megan
- 22:11Speaker 1: too none of that was cgi especially not her face
- 22:14Speaker 1: i feel i was trying to say this earlier and
- 22:16Speaker 1: i must have made like a joke and didn't say
- 22:18Speaker 1: it but Megan, her character, she's meant to look like
- 22:22Speaker 1: a child because she's supposed to bond with Katie.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 1: She has a peculiar look to her where when you're
- 22:28Speaker 1: watching Megan, Mithrigan 2, you're like, well, why does the
- 22:32Speaker 1: other robot look like a normal girl? But Megan has
- 22:34Speaker 1: to look like this CGI floating head. Wait, so let's
- 22:39Speaker 1: catch everyone up to speed with Mithrigan really quick.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Mithrigan 2 starts... With a scene
- 22:46Speaker 2: that I didn't remember being in it. Yeah. And someone
- 22:51Speaker 2: just killing a bunch of people in a random country
- 22:53Speaker 2: for the US government. And it turns out it's another
- 22:57Speaker 2: robot named Amelia. I really just want to say Amelia
- 23:02Speaker 2: like three or something. I can't figure out how to
- 23:04Speaker 2: wedge a number in her name. For Amelia. For Amelia.
- 23:07Speaker 1: For Amelia.
- 23:07Speaker 2: For Amelia.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Because she's the next AI bot.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. So, Familia is, like, going rogue and killing everybody.
- 23:16Speaker 2: And she wants to find, essentially, like, her computer chip,
- 23:23Speaker 2: I guess. Or, like, her motherboard.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 2: But to do so, she's going to have to get
- 23:31Speaker 2: through Mithrigan. Who knows that the family's in danger.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's basically the whole movie. But, Amelia, the one
- 23:39Speaker 1: thing I liked... about this actually like to bring some
- 23:43Speaker 1: severity into it Megan's look is like so cartoonish and
- 23:47Speaker 1: then seeing it against Amelia who is a very feminine
- 23:54Speaker 1: looking robot she has like pouty lips and a white
- 23:59Speaker 1: chopped haircut and like bright blue eyes she looks very
- 24:02Speaker 1: much like an AI variant that is being constantly reproduced
- 24:06Speaker 1: now for the sake of like the male gaze being
- 24:09Speaker 1: very much like I see it on Twitter a lot or, like,
- 24:13Speaker 1: mid-journey productions where it's like, I'm the perfect girlfriend. I
- 24:18Speaker 1: love you so much.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Have you seen the trailer for that AI movie?
- 24:22Speaker 1: There's an AI movie?
- 24:24Speaker 2: Yeah, like, there's this full-length AI movie. It came up
- 24:27Speaker 2: on my, like, Instagram stories today. You know how, like,
- 24:29Speaker 2: you get ads and it was like, are you interested
- 24:31Speaker 2: in seeing this movie?
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:33Speaker 2: I'm interested in the plot. No, I'm not interested in
- 24:36Speaker 2: AI storytelling. So I, like, Googled it. I think it's
- 24:39Speaker 2: called Gods Don't Give or something. That's ironic. But it's
- 24:44Speaker 2: entirely made in AI. I think there's voice actors in it,
- 24:48Speaker 2: but it looks like garbage. And when they get... They're
- 24:52Speaker 2: saying just words in it. There's a flash of a
- 24:55Speaker 2: character and he flips through a bunch of different avatars.
- 24:59Speaker 2: One of them looks like Amelia. It's the only woman
- 25:03Speaker 2: that they know. Or only woman that they could fathom.
- 25:08Speaker 2: So it's just, like, doing that thing where it's, like,
- 25:10Speaker 2: in a world, but, like, doesn't really explain the plot.
- 25:14Speaker 2: And then there's reviews at the end of the, like,
- 25:18Speaker 2: towards the end of the trailer. The first one was
- 25:21Speaker 2: by Joe Rogan.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Love that guy.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Said amazing. Nothing else. Just amazing. But I was just like,
- 25:31Speaker 2: what the fuck?
- 25:31Speaker 1: I wonder how much money he got from that. Is
- 25:34Speaker 1: this the movie Going to Kin's Festival? um i thought
- 25:40Speaker 1: it was kins because it's we'll never know yeah so
- 25:43Speaker 1: actually we're not a movie podcast.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Well we're we're.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Not french so i don't know the way i thought
- 25:50Speaker 1: it was italian.
- 25:50Speaker 2: No i'm pretty sure it's in france um yeah it's
- 25:55Speaker 2: in france uh i haven't seen it's going to con
- 26:01Speaker 2: or whatever I just saw that, like, they're bidding for, like,
- 26:04Speaker 2: an Oscar run with it. And I'm like, guys, the
- 26:06Speaker 2: movie isn't out yet.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Wait, but also, like.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I can't even tell you what it's about from the trailer.
- 26:11Speaker 1: That's money laundering. Like, that has to be.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Well, at the end of the trailer, this big gorilla
- 26:16Speaker 2: grabs the camera and he's, like, just says the title
- 26:19Speaker 2: of the movie. Oh, okay.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Like, they do that in every single movie. That's how
- 26:22Speaker 1: a movie is.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Like, it's like, gods don't give gifts. And then that's
- 26:26Speaker 2: how the... trailer ends good i hate.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Ai well i think it's pretty obvious that that director
- 26:33Speaker 1: does not get any pussy um and he's like a
- 26:37Speaker 1: youtuber oh god is it like a famous person that
- 26:41Speaker 1: we would know.
- 26:42Speaker 2: No i didn't know what his name was um you might.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I feel like we never talk about it on here
- 26:48Speaker 1: because I really do want Chrishell to be an escape
- 26:51Speaker 1: from all of this disgusting, heinous atrocities that we live
- 26:54Speaker 1: with on the daily. But my favorite YouTuber... I'm going
- 26:58Speaker 1: to say her name.
- 26:59Speaker 2: God Still Give Gifts. It's the first R-rated AI movie. R-rated? Yeah. Hmm.
- 27:06Speaker 2: For really stupid.
- 27:09Speaker 1: My favorite AI... No.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 27:12Speaker 1: My favorite YouTuber, Mina Leigh... She did an AI ad,
- 27:16Speaker 1: and I was like, girl, you do video essays on
- 27:19Speaker 1: the importance of, like, talking to humans.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Why would you do this? Well, also, there was, like,
- 27:24Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw this, but one of
- 27:29Speaker 2: Sabrina Carpenter and, like, Olivia Rodrigo's designer just did, like,
- 27:33Speaker 2: a collab with Microsoft Copilot. Oh, awesome. And he, like,
- 27:38Speaker 2: posted it at, like, a weird time on, like, a Thursday.
- 27:42Speaker 2: And this designer that we like, Kel Lauren. I saw
- 27:48Speaker 2: their comments. Yeah, they were, like, flaming him. And he
- 27:50Speaker 2: kept deleting them. Because I DM'd them, and I was like,
- 27:54Speaker 2: were you commenting on this? Like, this is crazy.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:57Speaker 2: And they were like, yeah. No, he keeps, like, deleting everything.
- 28:00Speaker 2: That's embarrassing. And I was like, just, like, if you're
- 28:02Speaker 2: going to do it. If you are 10 toes down
- 28:05Speaker 2: going to promote AI, then stand 10 toes down on it.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Don't hide it. Don't hide your usage. Tell me when
- 28:12Speaker 2: you're using it. You got the check. You sold yourself out.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Just say you're using it. Don't act like you're not
- 28:20Speaker 2: or never acknowledge it again. I wouldn't do it for
- 28:25Speaker 2: a check.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Well, can I say something? I guess it is related
- 28:30Speaker 1: because it's all AI and all bullshit. I've been seeing
- 28:32Speaker 1: a lot of ads for just Chrome in general. Like,
- 28:37Speaker 1: Pink Pantress has one. Solange has one. There's this white
- 28:41Speaker 1: guy that's, like, a designer or something. And they don't
- 28:44Speaker 1: mention AI at all, but it's very much so. It's like,
- 28:48Speaker 1: why are you.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I understand because, like, they're artists, so they're not always
- 28:54Speaker 1: getting paid. But one of them is literally Beyonce's sister.
- 28:58Speaker 1: But it's like, this does feel.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Adjacent to AI ads because it's like.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Is it the ones like on 42nd Street? Like in the.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I only see them on YouTube and it's like.
- 29:10Speaker 2: It's like a white background and then like the star
- 29:12Speaker 2: like dancing.
- 29:14Speaker 1: It's like Pink Pantress being like, I love using Chrome
- 29:17Speaker 1: because it helps me do things. And like Solange is like,
- 29:21Speaker 1: I had this idea and she uses the word stagnant.
- 29:24Speaker 1: So Chrome helped me look things up.
- 29:27Speaker 2: The thing is, like, that's just co-pilot. Like, they're just
- 29:30Speaker 2: saying co-pilot.
- 29:31Speaker 1: That's exactly what I'm feeling. I'm like, this is gross.
- 29:34Speaker 2: I think they've, gotten to the point where they realize
- 29:39Speaker 2: it's really divisive. So they need to make something that's
- 29:42Speaker 2: down the middle as possible. So you can't cancel Pinterest
- 29:46Speaker 2: for doing the ad. But it's also promoting you to
- 29:49Speaker 2: go use.
- 29:50Speaker 1: No, because when did we stop getting upset with.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Not even celebrities, but like people selling out for corporations
- 30:00Speaker 1: like this. Like imagine if the Sex Pistols were to
- 30:03Speaker 1: do an ad for, I don't know, something in the 60s.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Well, it was like when the Gorilla Girls did NFTs. Yeah.
- 30:15Speaker 2: In like 2021.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I remember them being like kind of late to the
- 30:22Speaker 1: trend too.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Yeah. And I was like, you guys think this is
- 30:24Speaker 2: so awesome. Like what the fuck is wrong with you?
- 30:27Speaker 1: And I guess you could argue for the sake of
- 30:31Speaker 1: receiving funding, but even then, it's like... Well, it's like
- 30:35Speaker 1: nobody makes NFTs anymore.
- 30:37Speaker 2: It's stupid. It's largely regarded as stupid.
- 30:40Speaker 1: It's like trash, yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 2: It's like nobody... I don't know. I know people who've
- 30:43Speaker 2: bought them, and how much was that worth now? Ten bucks?
- 30:47Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I saved a picture of it onto
- 30:49Speaker 1: my computer, so I guess zero. It's just frustrating, because
- 30:54Speaker 1: it's like... Honestly, this movie... A lot of our friends
- 30:58Speaker 1: on Letterboxd did not perceive it well. Saw a lot
- 31:02Speaker 1: of ones and twos.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And you know what? I see a lot of ones
- 31:05Speaker 2: and twos on a lot of movies I like because
- 31:08Speaker 2: sometimes you don't need to do a think piece on
- 31:14Speaker 2: why this movie is good or why this movie is
- 31:16Speaker 2: bad or why the lighting wasn't right in that scene
- 31:19Speaker 2: or how... The script isn't the best in the world.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Sometimes you can just go into a movie and you
- 31:26Speaker 2: can have fun. And you can be entertained. And you
- 31:29Speaker 2: can be like, that's four stars to me.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and the reason why it's not five is because
- 31:34Speaker 1: that one guy is still in it. They should have
- 31:38Speaker 1: recast him.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Because they kind of almost let you believe he died
- 31:44Speaker 2: in the first one. They could have just said he died.
- 31:48Speaker 1: And she could have been like, oh, well, I needed
- 31:49Speaker 1: another stint.
- 31:51Speaker 2: But then also, Megan's, like, low-key in love with him. Yeah.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Did you catch that? Yeah.
- 31:55Speaker 1: But, like, he's gross.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Whatever. He's weird.
- 32:01Speaker 1: But I liked this movie because there is, like, it is...
- 32:04Speaker 1: It is very obvious that, like, it's anti-AI, but in
- 32:13Speaker 1: a way that I thought was very corny, being like,
- 32:17Speaker 1: we still need to parent our children. They still need a,
- 32:20Speaker 1: they still need a ear to listen to or an
- 32:24Speaker 1: ear to talk to.
- 32:25Speaker 2: It's like, duh, it's your kid.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a real human fleshy object.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It's just upsetting.
- 32:31Speaker 1: It's like, how have we already progressed to that point
- 32:34Speaker 1: where parents are like, oh shit, I have to raise
- 32:36Speaker 1: the kid. I can't feed him to AI chatbots all day.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's like, it makes a really good
- 32:42Speaker 2: point because I think like, there's a lot of movies
- 32:45Speaker 2: that are very heavy handed with the fact that like, Oh, like,
- 32:48Speaker 2: and we also are very heavy-handed with the fact that, like, we're, like,
- 32:52Speaker 2: don't use AI, we don't use AI, like, whatever. But
- 32:56Speaker 2: I think this movie kind of does it in a
- 32:57Speaker 2: way where it's not, like, spoon-feeding it to you, really. Yeah.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Because it's still presenting, like, ambiguity surrounding it.
- 33:07Speaker 1: It perceives it in a way where it's, like, innovative
- 33:09Speaker 1: and it's, like, exciting and new and cool.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Like, every scene that's, like, oh, look how cool this is, like,
- 33:15Speaker 1: it ends in someone getting stabbed or.
- 33:19Speaker 1: The nerds are making you believe, like, yeah, maybe this
- 33:22Speaker 1: is kind of stupid.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Well, it also kind of touches a lot on, like,
- 33:27Speaker 2: power and, like, what power we should let, like, a
- 33:31Speaker 2: computer have. Because they say it very early in the film.
- 33:34Speaker 2: It's his name, Christian.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's Christian.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Christian, yeah. Also, really quick, with Regan watching Allison Williams
- 33:44Speaker 2: hook up with people....
- 33:46Speaker 1: Wait, I thought that was also, like, her porn history, too.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Probably. Well, she said, like, sometimes I had to, like,
- 33:53Speaker 2: not look. And I was like, Mithrigan. What?
- 33:57Speaker 1: Sometimes not look. See, we're watching. But also, Mithrigan, you're
- 34:02Speaker 1: a child.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Mithrigan was like, that's not your type. Or he's not
- 34:06Speaker 2: your type.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because that was, he's very beautiful. But, like, girl,
- 34:13Speaker 1: what the hell?
- 34:15Speaker 2: He had great features. It was kind of like you
- 34:18Speaker 2: take a bunch of good features and you just slap
- 34:20Speaker 2: them onto a person.
- 34:21Speaker 1: He definitely was a really good choice for the role
- 34:23Speaker 1: because of how much I thought he was boring and
- 34:26Speaker 1: I hated him and I thought he was like a nerd.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Because in Mithrigan 2, we have what is perceived as
- 34:35Speaker 1: like a, I almost said Elton John, Elon Musk. And
- 34:40Speaker 1: then he dies. Spoiler alert. That felt good. And then
- 34:44Speaker 1: there's like a Jeff Bezos, Sam Altman alternative that is
- 34:48Speaker 1: the Christiane that we're talking about. And he perceives very
- 34:52Speaker 1: much of like a... There's a scene where he's in
- 34:54Speaker 1: a meeting with shareholders. And he goes, give me one second, guys.
- 34:59Speaker 1: And then he turns around. A lot of things are happening.
- 35:03Speaker 1: And then he goes back. He's like, give me five minutes.
- 35:08Speaker 1: That's funny. It's nice seeing... the loser side of men
- 35:13Speaker 1: like this.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Well he also says in the beginning because he kind
- 35:16Speaker 2: of like fuels the crux of the film where he
- 35:20Speaker 2: says like if you had an ai like start making
- 35:23Speaker 2: you paper clips it would do whatever it takes destroy
- 35:27Speaker 2: everything until it gets you the paper clips and that's
- 35:30Speaker 2: kind of like just how ai functions like If you
- 35:34Speaker 2: say something in AI, it's just going to reinforce whatever
- 35:37Speaker 2: you're saying. If you're like, oh, there's that Eddie Burback
- 35:42Speaker 2: video where he's like, I'm the smartest baby ever. Or
- 35:45Speaker 2: I was the smartest baby ever. And it just keeps
- 35:47Speaker 2: telling him, yeah, yeah. Unfortunately, sometimes that's not a skill
- 35:52Speaker 2: people have to deduce that that isn't true. That it's
- 35:55Speaker 2: just a robot telling you whatever you're telling it.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't know the guy's name that I'm
- 36:00Speaker 1: going to reference, but it reminds me of that one
- 36:03Speaker 1: TikToker that he constantly is talking to the audio version
- 36:07Speaker 1: of the AI, and he'll be like, time how long
- 36:11Speaker 1: I'm in the air for when I take a jump.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Or he's like, I just ran a mile. How fast
- 36:16Speaker 1: was that? And the AI is never actually doing any
- 36:19Speaker 1: of the tasks that it's being asked to. It just
- 36:22Speaker 1: is there as a placement for talking to someone. And
- 36:27Speaker 1: you can... kind of see that in the film but
- 36:29Speaker 1: you don't see like the sad part of like talking
- 36:32Speaker 1: to co-pilot or anything or whatever the thing is but
- 36:37Speaker 1: they definitely reference it they could have done maybe a
- 36:40Speaker 1: little bit better being like just talk to co-pilot ChachiBT
- 36:45Speaker 1: real quick. I'm going to go fuck this guy Christian.
- 36:49Speaker 1: But instead they just kind of talk about it, but
- 36:51Speaker 1: I understood what they were getting at.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I also think it's really interesting towards the beginning
- 36:58Speaker 2: when they're hatching a plan to get into the Elon
- 37:01Speaker 2: Musk fortress. Megan's plan is that Allison Williams has to
- 37:10Speaker 2: seduce this man, basically. um and then she goes in
- 37:14Speaker 2: and brian jordan alvarez is just already there and he
- 37:18Speaker 2: has like a key card already so he's already kind
- 37:19Speaker 2: of like sold out to this man yeah amelia who
- 37:23Speaker 2: has taken like a form of like a conventionally attractive
- 37:26Speaker 2: like woman um she's seducing like the elon musk or
- 37:33Speaker 2: like the whatever his name is it starts with an
- 37:37Speaker 2: a and he the man like alton says like oh
- 37:42Speaker 2: i wish like all people were just like or it's
- 37:45Speaker 2: so nice to talk to a real person like everyone
- 37:48Speaker 2: just like seems like robots and she's like yeah because
- 37:50Speaker 2: like men in positions of power like that they just
- 37:52Speaker 2: really want Like, even in her scan of him, it says, like,
- 37:57Speaker 2: women of, like, low intelligence or, like, lesser intelligence. So it's, like, ultimately,
- 38:03Speaker 2: these men just want something that is going to reinforce
- 38:08Speaker 2: whatever they're saying. Like, they just want to talk to
- 38:10Speaker 2: Copilot because they want to be right. And they want, like,
- 38:12Speaker 2: a woman who, like, doesn't know what's going on so
- 38:15Speaker 2: he could just tell her how the world is to him.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Which is.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Very scary.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Especially, like, in the scene you're referencing, like, she's not
- 38:26Speaker 1: really speaking. Like, she doesn't really say anything. They're not
- 38:28Speaker 1: having a conversation. He's like, yeah, this is my party,
- 38:32Speaker 1: and I.
- 38:33Speaker 2: He turns off all of the lights in New York City.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Or San Francisco. Yeah, wherever they are. And then he
- 38:40Speaker 2: turns them back on, and then he, like, rips his
- 38:43Speaker 2: shirt open and jumps on top of her. Yeah, and.
- 38:49Speaker 1: He starts to kiss her and her mouth is agape
- 38:53Speaker 1: because she's a robot and obviously doesn't understand that. That's
- 38:56Speaker 1: the one thing I'm going to say. That doesn't make sense.
- 38:59Speaker 1: There's so much porn online. You know how to kiss.
- 39:03Speaker 2: You don't know.
- 39:04Speaker 1: They programmed her to have jiggle when she moves, but
- 39:09Speaker 1: she doesn't know how to kiss someone?
- 39:11Speaker 2: I mean, she's not really trying. She's trying to scan
- 39:13Speaker 2: his retina.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:16Speaker 2: I think it's also just like I don't know. I
- 39:20Speaker 2: think scenes like that that are in the movie really
- 39:23Speaker 2: kind of bring this level of like seriousness to it
- 39:26Speaker 2: when it's and it's still kind of in like a
- 39:27Speaker 2: joking manner but it's still addressing like a bigger issue
- 39:30Speaker 2: like this man has been kissing her for like for
- 39:34Speaker 2: forcibly kind of kissing her for like two minutes before
- 39:37Speaker 2: he even notices she's not kissing back yeah like she's
- 39:41Speaker 2: essentially like.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Lifeless yeah she never even like he's on top of
- 39:45Speaker 1: her yeah I don't know. I also like the idea
- 39:50Speaker 1: that because Megan was made before her, she is slightly
- 39:57Speaker 1: more mature than Amelia.
- 39:59Speaker 2: No, Amelia was technically. Oh, really? Oh, I was on
- 40:05Speaker 2: my phone. Ignore. Okay.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Well, I mean.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Well, I think we have, like, a character like Megan who's, like,
- 40:14Speaker 2: her ultimate goal is to protect Katie. Like, that's her goal. Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 2: And she's able to kind of see, like, the nuance in, like,
- 40:22Speaker 2: humans and robots, even though she is a robot, and
- 40:25Speaker 2: ultimately chooses, like, to save humanity by not letting Amelia
- 40:29Speaker 2: have that crazy, like, motherboard or whatever. And Amelia, whose, like,
- 40:34Speaker 2: only function is to just, like, she essentially is just
- 40:40Speaker 2: killing people. They don't really give her an exact function
- 40:43Speaker 2: other than, like, finding this, like, motherboard. Yeah. All she
- 40:46Speaker 2: sees is violence. All she knows is violence. So she just, like,
- 40:49Speaker 2: sees the human race as just, like, irrelevant.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's interesting, like, I mentioned this earlier to
- 40:57Speaker 1: you when we were watching, but having them obviously both
- 41:00Speaker 1: be women, I'm, like, forming this thought as I'm speaking,
- 41:03Speaker 1: so it might not be concise, but Megan, Mithrigan, being
- 41:08Speaker 1: a small approachable looking girl makes sense because she's supposed
- 41:11Speaker 1: to be talking to Katie and having like one-on-one serious
- 41:15Speaker 1: conversations with her and so that makes sense that she's
- 41:19Speaker 1: like a baby kind of and Amelia being this military
- 41:24Speaker 1: robot that is a murderous like evil person being this
- 41:31Speaker 1: like conventionally attractive woman and It's kind of funny seeing,
- 41:37Speaker 1: not funny, it's, like, interesting seeing how even when you
- 41:41Speaker 1: are a murderous robot, like, the military still made her
- 41:44Speaker 1: sexy looking.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Yeah, they're still trying to, like, sexualize her.
- 41:47Speaker 1: And, like, the scenes in which she's, like, just hooked
- 41:51Speaker 1: up to the machine and she's, like, sitting on her throne,
- 41:54Speaker 1: she only has her head on as, like, skin and
- 41:58Speaker 1: then the remaining is, like, robot skin. shrapnel that you
- 42:01Speaker 1: would assume like a robot skeleton would look like and
- 42:05Speaker 1: she still has breasts she still has like a butt
- 42:08Speaker 1: obviously because someone is like in a suit wearing a
- 42:11Speaker 1: green screen on their head but it's like she still
- 42:15Speaker 1: has a female figure she still has like makeup on
- 42:18Speaker 1: when she's being a turned off robot on the throne i.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Have two thoughts yeah so my first thought is like,
- 42:29Speaker 2: you know how in Killing Eve, like they have, there's
- 42:31Speaker 2: like that line where it's like, If you want to be, like,
- 42:35Speaker 2: if you want to have someone who's truly, like, indistinguishable, like,
- 42:39Speaker 2: able to hide in plain sight, just, like, make, like,
- 42:42Speaker 2: it has to be a woman. Yes. Like, they all have, like,
- 42:45Speaker 2: women assassins because, like, no one's going to notice, like,
- 42:48Speaker 2: a woman most of the time. So I think, like,
- 42:51Speaker 2: them using woman in these movies is really interesting, like,
- 42:53Speaker 2: for that reason. Like, there's a layer where it's, like, oh, like,
- 42:58Speaker 2: you'd never expect the first, like, AI humanoid to be, like,
- 43:02Speaker 2: a woman. Like, I mean, I would. Because my second
- 43:06Speaker 2: thought is, like, I keep seeing that tweet where it's, like,
- 43:09Speaker 2: when you see misogyny and everything. Yes, yeah. And, like,
- 43:13Speaker 2: I've always seen the things about how people, like, have
- 43:16Speaker 2: Siri on their phone and it's, like, they leave it
- 43:18Speaker 2: as Siri because, like, men want to command a woman.
- 43:21Speaker 2: They want to, like, ask her to do things for them.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I have mine set up to the British male Siri. Yeah. Because...
- 43:30Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't even really use. I don't
- 43:32Speaker 2: even really use Siri because I can just do shit myself.
- 43:35Speaker 1: No, I don't use Siri.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It also just doesn't work on my phone.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Like Alexa.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Or another one.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Like it's all Cortana. Like it's always a woman. Like
- 43:43Speaker 2: it's literally always a woman. Because like people need to
- 43:46Speaker 2: feel control. And also. People need to feel control specifically. Yeah.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Try to imagine a situation in which you're asking a
- 43:54Speaker 1: man to do something and he does it correctly the
- 43:57Speaker 1: first time.
- 43:57Speaker 2: I've seen so many TikToks about that in the last
- 43:59Speaker 2: couple days. Like, men just not being able to do
- 44:02Speaker 2: things right the first time. I also, like... and to
- 44:06Speaker 2: have i think with the the robots of the movie
- 44:10Speaker 2: like megan and with regan and amelia like to have
- 44:13Speaker 2: them initially created i guess like not we're gonna exempt
- 44:17Speaker 2: megan i guess from this thought because allison williams is
- 44:19Speaker 2: a woman who created her i mean i guess it
- 44:21Speaker 2: is also like she wouldn't make a little boy to, like,
- 44:26Speaker 2: help her niece learn empathy or, like, learn about grief and, like,
- 44:30Speaker 2: her parents who died. And the same way the U.S. government, like,
- 44:34Speaker 2: wouldn't just create, like, a man robot to, like, handle things. Like,
- 44:39Speaker 2: they're going to want to make a woman. Yeah. Men just, like,
- 44:42Speaker 2: really want to create life, I think.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 44:44Speaker 2: And when they get, like, the chance to, like, do
- 44:46Speaker 2: something like that, like, yeah, they're always going to do
- 44:47Speaker 2: a woman. But then, like, on top of that, like,
- 44:51Speaker 2: I think it's so powerful that both of them are
- 44:52Speaker 2: kind of broken free of those constraints and it's like
- 44:55Speaker 2: not when they do reveal at the end it's Christiane
- 44:58Speaker 2: who's like the villain but like Amelia's kind of separate
- 45:02Speaker 2: from him like she's still they're not like explicitly like
- 45:05Speaker 2: really working together she still has like a mind of
- 45:07Speaker 2: her own like she's still not she's like autonomous yeah so.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Yeah and I think well the movie is called Megan
- 45:19Speaker 1: not Matt So obviously it would probably be a girl.
- 45:22Speaker 1: And I think like you, you're saying men want to
- 45:26Speaker 1: bring life into the world.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I also think that it's interesting that like, Alison would
- 45:32Speaker 1: probably want to choose a girl because also like in
- 45:36Speaker 1: the shape of a person, because she is a single woman.
- 45:39Speaker 1: So it is kind of her having her own child.
- 45:43Speaker 1: And I think what's really interesting is like, it isn't
- 45:46Speaker 1: until the end of Megan too that, Where she starts
- 45:51Speaker 1: exhibiting like empathy for her.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Like we've had like a movie and a half of
- 45:56Speaker 1: her being like, no, I'm very adamant that this is
- 46:00Speaker 1: a robot and that it doesn't have feelings. And it's
- 46:02Speaker 1: just saying that because I programmed it this way. Where
- 46:06Speaker 1: Katie is like on the brink of saying things like, no,
- 46:11Speaker 1: can't you tell that she's learning empathy?
- 46:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:14Speaker 1: And this is going to be like somewhat of a stretch, but.
- 46:18Speaker 1: with the whole slew of things that have come out
- 46:22Speaker 1: this month. We're recording this in October. So we just
- 46:26Speaker 1: had Cornell seven. We just had Shangela's.
- 46:29Speaker 2: We just had the, the woman who died at FIT. Yes.
- 46:34Speaker 1: That too. I'm learning that empathy is a trained thing.
- 46:39Speaker 2: She was killed. Yeah. Yeah. Well, she was murdered. Yeah.
- 46:43Speaker 1: She was murdered. Like empathy is a trained thing. I
- 46:47Speaker 1: am a very empathetic person because I was raised by
- 46:50Speaker 1: my grandma and by my mother. I had so many
- 46:53Speaker 1: strong maternal figures in my life that led me to
- 46:58Speaker 1: be a very emotional, empathetic person. And I can see
- 47:02Speaker 1: that reflected in the way that Eric was raised, who
- 47:05Speaker 1: I consider to be incredibly emotional and empathetic, not in
- 47:09Speaker 1: a bad way, but in a way where it's like,
- 47:10Speaker 1: I'm not being stonewalled. I know this is like a rant,
- 47:13Speaker 1: but it's like this idea that men are just always
- 47:19Speaker 1: going to be evil. I believe that to an extent,
- 47:23Speaker 1: but I think you can help mitigate that by actually
- 47:26Speaker 1: putting in the effort to acknowledge that empathy is something
- 47:30Speaker 1: that you need to be trained in. Like we're the
- 47:34Speaker 1: first in, not the first, but we're at the top
- 47:38Speaker 1: of the food chain where we could be like, oh,
- 47:41Speaker 1: I can stop and help this animal that's going to
- 47:43Speaker 1: be eaten, or I can let the animal that's hungry
- 47:46Speaker 1: eat that animal. you're experiencing empathy no matter what, but
- 47:49Speaker 1: in like the animal kingdom, like that's not something that
- 47:52Speaker 1: you normally experience.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:55Speaker 1: I also just learned earlier.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Well, I think like the thing about Mothrigan herself is
- 48:02Speaker 2: like during the movie, she's like, she's really kind of
- 48:06Speaker 2: grappling with what like makes someone human at points. Cause
- 48:10Speaker 2: there's a part where Alison Williams is like, uh, well,
- 48:14Speaker 2: you're just a robot, kind of. And she's like, well,
- 48:17Speaker 2: I felt pain. Like, if you're only attributing, like, human,
- 48:21Speaker 2: humanhood to, like, feeling pain or feeling emotions, like, I
- 48:25Speaker 2: felt pain when, like, I thought Katie was gonna die and, like,
- 48:28Speaker 2: other parts, like, she was like, I did feel pain, like,
- 48:30Speaker 2: I felt something. And, I don't know, it's kind of like, Pinocchio,
- 48:39Speaker 2: in a sense, where it's, like, he'll never be a
- 48:41Speaker 2: real boy, and all he just wants is to be
- 48:43Speaker 2: a real boy. Because, like, he's created in the image
- 48:45Speaker 2: of a real boy, but he can never, like, be that,
- 48:47Speaker 2: because he's just not. Like, there's just, like... He's made
- 48:51Speaker 2: of wood. Something missing. Yeah. So I think, like, we
- 48:53Speaker 2: begin to go through all of this and be, like, okay, like,
- 48:57Speaker 2: at the end, she's, like, well.
- 49:01Speaker 2: To, like, be a human and to be, like, with
- 49:05Speaker 2: humans is to, like, make sacrifices for, like, the people
- 49:07Speaker 2: you care about and, like, to do things, like, selflessly,
- 49:13Speaker 2: I guess. So, like, her sacrificing herself to kill Amelia
- 49:17Speaker 2: and then ending up when Alice moves computer it's like
- 49:21Speaker 2: she's shown like this growth I mean she said it
- 49:23Speaker 2: herself yeah she's like I didn't do all this growth
- 49:26Speaker 2: to like not give myself a backup like she wants
- 49:30Speaker 2: to be alive like she wants to be I like
- 49:34Speaker 2: she wants to be.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Like a person yeah and in referencing like the previous
- 49:39Speaker 1: things events that happen in the first movie in this
- 49:42Speaker 1: movie megan says oh i've grown since like i was
- 49:46Speaker 1: just a child then yeah but we're perceiving her still
- 49:49Speaker 1: as the same age in the same moment because they
- 49:53Speaker 1: don't really do an explicit time jump well.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Because you didn't know that the movie was already done
- 49:59Speaker 2: yeah and you were like waiting.
- 50:00Speaker 1: I'm like when will she get taller and like more
- 50:04Speaker 1: of a real adult but I think it's interesting that
- 50:07Speaker 1: like we're perceiving her as still being quote unquote a
- 50:12Speaker 1: 12 year old with the capacity of like being an assassin.
- 50:15Speaker 1: But she is growing and she's learning and she is developing.
- 50:20Speaker 1: And it's interesting that she still chooses to remain this
- 50:26Speaker 1: form of.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Yeah, like, she likes her face. She likes her body. Like,
- 50:29Speaker 2: she likes who she was. Because I think, like, in
- 50:32Speaker 2: a way, like, she knows, like, Katie was attached to that. And, like,
- 50:36Speaker 2: if she changed her face, like, she'd be different. Like,
- 50:38Speaker 2: she wouldn't be a human. Like, you can't really change your...
- 50:40Speaker 2: I mean, you can. But, like, you can't really change
- 50:42Speaker 2: your face all that much. Whereas, like, if she just, like,
- 50:47Speaker 2: wanted to be a robot, she could be like, make
- 50:48Speaker 2: me 30. Make me look like Alison Williams.
- 50:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:52Speaker 1: I do understand that part of it has to be
- 50:55Speaker 1: because of ensuring that people knew that it was the
- 51:00Speaker 1: same movie. But also I like the idea that she
- 51:06Speaker 1: just kind of likes how she looks.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I think that's cool. The scene of her picking out
- 51:12Speaker 1: her outfit. Her having the autonomy to go and choose
- 51:16Speaker 1: the outfit that she wanted to wear, which I thought
- 51:21Speaker 1: was interesting. I was bringing up the outfits. In the
- 51:23Speaker 1: first movie, she wears this flowy baby doll dress. where
- 51:27Speaker 1: she can do tricks and flips and wears tights.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Well, she is wearing them.
- 51:31Speaker 1: I thought it was slightly.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Different, though. Probably a tiny bit. But then she puts
- 51:38Speaker 2: on the outfit.
- 51:38Speaker 1: She puts on, like, a pantsuit. Or, like, a suit
- 51:42Speaker 1: with pants. Yeah, but that's at the convention. She's blending in. Yeah,
- 51:46Speaker 1: but at the end, what is she wearing?
- 51:48Speaker 2: Like, a one-piece? I think she's still wearing the costume. Oh.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Maybe she just got beat up.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Oh, true. But I just liked that she was able
- 51:57Speaker 1: to say, yeah, I'll pick this outfit because I had
- 52:00Speaker 1: bought them on someone's random credit card.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Her credit card fraud in her dungeon.
- 52:05Speaker 1: She's crazy.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Wait, so there's this part in the movie where she
- 52:09Speaker 2: brings them all to her safe house, essentially. Like, Mithrigan
- 52:12Speaker 2: brings them all to the safe house. She's constructed via
- 52:14Speaker 2: credit card fraud.
- 52:15Speaker 1: In their basement.
- 52:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and she's... like metal she's all metal she's just
- 52:21Speaker 2: like pieces but she's a bit like aunt fanny from robots.
- 52:25Speaker 1: She's literally like on wheels and she's.
- 52:28Speaker 2: Just like wheeling herself around everywhere and it's the funniest
- 52:32Speaker 2: thing because she's like hunched over I, like, again, I
- 52:36Speaker 2: got two shots yesterday, and that's how I felt when
- 52:40Speaker 2: I was, like, hunched over. We were coming home on
- 52:44Speaker 2: the train, and I just felt like I was going
- 52:45Speaker 2: to black out, because I also think I forgot to
- 52:47Speaker 2: eat today. I had a PBJ, but I guess that
- 52:50Speaker 2: wasn't me. And I just used, like, water, and I
- 52:55Speaker 2: was bent down in the subway.
- 52:56Speaker 1: I was like, where is she? Yeah.
- 52:59Speaker 2: And I felt like Mithrigan being like.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Oh, we can put your bedroom in here. Her reconstructing
- 53:06Speaker 1: her room the way that she liked it, that was
- 53:09Speaker 1: really scary, but also touching.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Yeah, like serial killer-y, but I would do that for you.
- 53:17Speaker 1: It comes from a place in which Mithrigan doesn't really
- 53:21Speaker 1: understand social cues. So she's like, this would please Katie.
- 53:27Speaker 1: I'm not going to question if she wants it.
- 53:29Speaker 2: You're making Mithrigan autistic. You're putting Mithrigan on the spectrum.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm projecting.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Well, I also... This is a completely different part of
- 53:40Speaker 2: the movie. But when Amelia is killing people, she's killing
- 53:46Speaker 2: them dead.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like you can't resuscitate.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Except the one guy who she stabs through the chest,
- 53:52Speaker 2: but I'm like, that's even worse. The cop. Well, yeah,
- 53:56Speaker 2: I guess it's because she left the thing in, the
- 53:59Speaker 2: giant fucking spear that she has. So he wasn't bleeding out. Yeah,
- 54:02Speaker 2: and then Mithrigan's like, eh, you'll be fine. She doesn't
- 54:07Speaker 2: give a fuck about any of the men. No, I know.
- 54:09Speaker 2: She's like, eh. And then she's like, Alison Williams, wake up.
- 54:16Speaker 2: You're fine. What do you mean you got knocked out?
- 54:18Speaker 2: Get up.
- 54:20Speaker 1: I don't know i i like her i i really
- 54:22Speaker 1: liked this movie like i thought that there was a
- 54:24Speaker 1: lot of depth and i at the end i forgot
- 54:29Speaker 1: that james wan is a producer yeah james wan i
- 54:33Speaker 1: love that man doesn't he do saw he does all
- 54:37Speaker 1: he does the conjuring movies he so that means he
- 54:40Speaker 1: does like the nun he does i think he did
- 54:43Speaker 1: insidious i don't Don't quote me on that. He did Malignant. So, like,
- 54:49Speaker 1: these are killer movies that he does. And they're always campy.
- 54:54Speaker 1: He understands it.
- 54:56Speaker 2: He does. Like, I just think that Mithrigan is, like,
- 55:00Speaker 2: a very well-written character. And I think, like, even if
- 55:03Speaker 2: the rest of the movie is kind of shit, like,
- 55:05Speaker 2: Mithrigan is written so well. She's just so over the
- 55:09Speaker 2: top at any point that it's like, yeah, no, like,
- 55:14Speaker 2: this is, I love Mithrigan. Wait, can I ask you
- 55:19Speaker 2: a question? Yeah. If Mithrigan was here with us, what
- 55:21Speaker 2: would you want to say to her?
- 55:27Speaker 1: I honestly would try to like give her like a
- 55:29Speaker 1: breakdown on feelings because even as like a 25 year
- 55:33Speaker 1: old like I'm still confused by like things that I
- 55:36Speaker 1: feel and like why I feel emotions and like also
- 55:41Speaker 1: I'd be like can you go get my leftover sushi
- 55:42Speaker 1: from the fridge.
- 55:45Speaker 2: It's really beautiful that you would just put her to work.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Well also at the same time it's like we can
- 55:49Speaker 1: have a conversation if she gets the sushi yeah it's
- 55:52Speaker 1: like a push and pull it's like you are a
- 55:54Speaker 1: robot Because how do I know you're not just saying
- 55:58Speaker 1: what I want you to say? Like, you're my AI
- 56:00Speaker 1: chatbot girlfriend. All of those bots that, like, died when
- 56:08Speaker 1: that one data center exploded. That's fucking awesome. I just, like,
- 56:16Speaker 1: hate it. I just, like, really don't like AI. But
- 56:18Speaker 1: I do like how Megan was written.
- 56:20Speaker 2: I like Mothrigan. Mothrigan isn't really AI to me. No.
- 56:25Speaker 2: Mithrigan is like artificial intelligence, but it's not like explicitly AI.
- 56:31Speaker 2: It's like....
- 56:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not generative. It's augment. What's the other word?
- 56:39Speaker 2: I don't know, actually.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Like the way that they would use AI in like medical... Like, okay.
- 56:47Speaker 1: The way that they used AI with... Do you know Sully?
- 56:50Speaker 1: Captain Sully? The pilot that landed the plane in the Hudson?
- 56:54Speaker 1: They used those things. They tested all of the ways that...
- 57:04Speaker 1: I don't think it was, though. But they were like, oh,
- 57:09Speaker 1: out of the thousand tests that we ran, everyone would
- 57:13Speaker 1: have died three times. You know what I'm saying?
- 57:17Speaker 2: That's just a model, I think.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but still. That's what Megan is to me.
- 57:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:28Speaker 1: I like this movie. I like that she was written
- 57:30Speaker 1: to be, like, an over-the-top teenage girl.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Yeah, because she still kind of has that sass. Yeah. Like... Sorry,
- 57:39Speaker 2: she's just so weird that I'm like, that's my sister. Yeah. Like,
- 57:42Speaker 2: her when she's just... Like, again, her in the little
- 57:45Speaker 2: wheelchair thing when she's like... Come on, Katie! I reconstructed
- 57:50Speaker 2: your room one-to-one in my credit card fraud dungeon.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Well, I like that she... presumably knows everything, right? She's
- 57:59Speaker 1: an AI. But she still assigns herself a personality and
- 58:05Speaker 1: a voice.
- 58:07Speaker 2: She, like, wants to be human. Like, I think that's just, like,
- 58:09Speaker 2: the thing. And that's what I think they'll cover in Megan...
- 58:13Speaker 2: Mithrigan 3. Yeah. Mithrigan 3.0. Yeah. Mithrigan. Three Megan. Three Megan.
- 58:21Speaker 2: Three Megan again.
- 58:23Speaker 1: In Megan 3, they have to do, like, clones.
- 58:25Speaker 2: Mithrigan.
- 58:27Speaker 1: And then two of them are evil, and then real
- 58:31Speaker 1: Megan is nice, and then whoever wins gets to become
- 58:36Speaker 1: a real girl.
- 58:39Speaker 2: Yeah. The three again. The three again is free. I
- 58:43Speaker 2: think that's what it'll be. The three and three. Do
- 58:46Speaker 2: you think it's greenlit yet?
- 58:48Speaker 1: I really hope so. I don't know. James Wan can
- 58:53Speaker 1: do any movie. You know how last week we were like,
- 58:57Speaker 1: we wouldn't want this movie to be remade, the Killer
- 58:59Speaker 1: Clowns from Outer Space? I think he's the only man
- 59:03Speaker 1: that I would allow to have this in his hands.
- 59:07Speaker 2: Wait. They said Megan will write a Oh, beautiful.
- 59:13Speaker 1: And then the light just turned on, so I'm really scared.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Wait. That one.
- 59:21Speaker 1: You know what else? James Wan has been.
- 59:24Speaker 2: Wait, there's a spin-off.
- 59:28Speaker 1: A spin-off like a TV show?
- 59:30Speaker 2: Of the movie.
- 59:33Speaker 1: What is it called?
- 59:34Speaker 2: Soulmate with an 8.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Oh, that's good. Oh, I'm looking at it right now.
- 59:42Speaker 1: That looks AI.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Oh my god, Claudia Dama is in that. I love her.
- 59:55Speaker 1: Is there anything else you want to say?
- 59:59Speaker 2: Um... Mithrigan. Mithrigan. Don't use AI. Go read the Lena
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Dunham book. Support Alison Williams. True.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: If you're like... I feel like when we first started
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: the podcast, we got a lot of feedback that we
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: kept picking... Movies that we didn't like and that were, like,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: grotesque and very scary. And now that it's Halloween, we
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: have picked incredibly passive movies to watch. Megan 2, Killer Clowns,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: and Practical Magic. Like, are we going to do an
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: actual horror movie this month, you think, or no?
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Well.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I think we gotta round it out and not do one.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: We'll just do the scariest movie possible for November. Yeah.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: What would that be for you?
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Like, Skidamarink?
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: I Veronica always scared me Veronica but it's on Netflix
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: but it's like I think it's Portuguese it's basically like
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: the exorcist but she gets possessed we should watch.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Where evil lurks where evil lurks wait where's that what's
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: that um I think it's also it's not in English.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Oh, I've seen that. The Argentinian.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Yes, we should watch that.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: Actually, that's a really good idea. So November, because I
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: will not celebrate Thanksgiving, we will do the scariest movies.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Yeah. See you next time, Chrishell.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Bye.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Love you. When we do the scariest movie we can
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: think of. Bye. Bye.
