- 1:29Ron Meyers: Welcome to the .
- 1:30Ron Meyers: .
- 1:31Ron Meyers: And Rodney, what in the world is your story?
- 1:34Rodney Williams: Well, as a young child.
- 1:35Rodney Williams: Of course my mom and them took me to church.
- 1:37Rodney Williams: But at a young age, being sexually molested by a sick man, and I turned to this Jesus they had told me about and God spoke to me.
- 1:44Rodney Williams: I had childlike faith.
- 1:45Rodney Williams: God spoke to me.
- 1:46Rodney Williams: He told me that he would protect me and one day I would preach his word.
- 1:49Rodney Williams: And of course I had hurts, pains and issues, and drugs and alcohol become my solution and it numbed the pain, made me forget about it.
- 1:59Rodney Williams: And the Bible says pleasure sends for a season.
- 2:01Rodney Williams: It was fun, we had a good time, you know.
- 2:04Rodney Williams: But you know I always tell people you know you can choose to jump out of a 10-story window, but you can't choose your consequences when you hit the ground.
- 2:11Rodney Williams: Through many car wrecks, in and out of jail, broken marriage, just a life of destruction, you know, is what addiction led me into.
- 2:19Rodney Williams: And this is over 20 years of addiction.
- 2:22Rodney Williams: My whole life was centered around the drugs and alcohol, the party life.
- 2:26Rodney Williams: That was my whole life, it was my God, that's what I was pursuing, that's what I was seeking.
- 2:33Rodney Williams: And then rehabs.
- 2:34Rodney Williams: I went to different rehabs, went to the Home of Grace one time Left out of there Went back into meth.
- 2:42Rodney Williams: Meth was a big thing, methamphetamines Going 10 or more days without eating or sleeping.
- 2:47Rodney Williams: I always tell people on uh, on meth, you are fasting to the devil.
- 2:49Rodney Williams: You know saying when you're not eating, you're not sleeping.
- 2:51Rodney Williams: Open up the gates, your mind and becoming one with the demonic realm.
- 2:54Rodney Williams: But uh, june 19, 2002 is what changed everything.
- 2:58Rodney Williams: I'd lost everything, lost my home, lost.
- 3:00Rodney Williams: My job was just going from place to place cooking the methamphetamines.
- 3:04Rodney Williams: Uh, and this night, uh, I'm in a small trailer, the fumes had built up and in my mind there's police in the trees, police under the trailer, just geeking out, you know, and just want to get high, but I'm not going to get any higher than what I already am.
- 3:18Rodney Williams: And as I'm cooking the meth and the fumes had built up and no ventilation, a spark went off the heat lamp and the whole trailer ignites.
- 3:26Rodney Williams: And then I'm trying to get out of the trailer.
- 3:28Rodney Williams: You know what I'm saying, because I had the doors bolted down because of fear and paranoia.
- 3:32Rodney Williams: I run outside when the doors come open with second, third-degree burns.
- 3:36Rodney Williams: At 2 o'clock in the morning, I'm waking these people up and they're shocked.
- 3:40Rodney Williams: I'm standing there all burnt up and throw a blanket around me and began rushing me to the hospital.
- 3:45Rodney Williams: All the times I've been in and out of jail, I'd always cry out to God.
- 3:48Rodney Williams: I always believed in God.
- 3:49Rodney Williams: I believe in one God that'll do us well.
- 3:51Rodney Williams: The devils also believe in trouble.
- 3:52Rodney Williams: I always tell people I wanted to go to heaven.
- 3:54Rodney Williams: I just wanted to live like hell.
- 3:55Rodney Williams: I made professions of faith, I got baptized as a kid, but I had no intention of turning from my sin and trusting Christ, you know.
- 4:03Rodney Williams: And I never got born again.
- 4:04Rodney Williams: I never became a child of God because I had no true repentance.
- 4:07Rodney Williams: But this night things was different.
- 4:09Rodney Williams: I hated the life that I was living, the things that I thought would satisfy me.
- 4:13Rodney Williams: That did not and I cried out to God.
- 4:16Rodney Williams: I said God, you can take my eye, ear, whatever you want, whatever's left, I'm going to serve you.
- 4:20Rodney Williams: And I made an unconditional surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ that night and that's where God's regeneration took place.
- 4:26Rodney Williams: I became a child of God that night and that's where God began the journey of my life.
- 4:31Rodney Williams: Second, third degree burns.
- 4:33Rodney Williams: I got the skin grafts, wound care at South Alabama Burn Center and I said God, I'm too weak to do this, but I'll do anything you tell me to do.
- 4:41Rodney Williams: And God spoke to me just as plain as day, just like when I was a little kid.
- 4:44Rodney Williams: He spoke to me for the first time and told me to go back to the home of grace.
- 4:49Rodney Williams: And I went back to the home of grace and that's where God began to triumph for me, change me.
- 4:54Rodney Williams: I always tell people it's like I was 37 years old with a bucket full of dirt, the washing of the water of the word, taking a water hose and going and allowing that water to go in the dirt, and the dirt begins to come out.
- 5:03Rodney Williams: Come out, come out.
- 5:04Rodney Williams: Eventually got clear, clean water.
- 5:05Rodney Williams: That's what God does with you.
- 5:07Rodney Williams: Through the washing of the water of his word, the transformation was taking place.
- 5:11Rodney Williams: And then one night, I got filled with the Holy Spirit and I realized my goodness, this is what I've been looking for all my life, you know so you literally blew up to meet Jesus, amen, and you did it in an ambulance.
- 5:25Ron Meyers: Now, how did your family and your friends react to this?
- 5:30Rodney Williams: Well, even though I was born again a child of God, I got to the hospital.
- 5:33Rodney Williams: I always tell people it took three days to get Israel out of Egypt, 40 years in the wilderness to get Egypt out of them.
- 5:39Rodney Williams: I'm still full of the world.
- 5:40Rodney Williams: So I'm still cussing.
- 5:41Rodney Williams: I'm about to wear the morphine button.
- 5:43Rodney Williams: Now no change is taking place.
- 5:50Rodney Williams: But I had really given my life to the Lord and I'm saying I give my blankety-blank life to Jesus and they're yeah, right, we've heard that before.
- 5:54Rodney Williams: So they didn't have a whole lot of confidence in what I was saying, you know.
- 5:57Ron Meyers: But God had a plan for you the whole time, and I think that's what is so important.
- 6:01Ron Meyers: I try to emphasize every week, through this show and through my guests, that we can have all the hell in our life that we can possibly imagine, and more on top of it, but God will search and search and knock at our door and he will find us and try to say, hey, I need you.
- 6:18Ron Meyers: And he never gives up on us, does he?
- 6:20Ron Meyers: Yes?
- 6:21Rodney Williams: that's right.
- 6:21Rodney Williams: And, like I said he told me, as a young child I preach his word and I've been preaching his word for some 22 years now.
- 6:27Rodney Williams: So God is faithful, you know, and I didn't.
- 6:31Rodney Williams: I had no hope.
- 6:34Rodney Williams: I mean it was.
- 6:35Rodney Williams: I remember the promise God had made me, but I was so in such darkness there was no way that God could ever bring me out of it.
- 6:38Ron Meyers: And he did when I fully surrendered to my will and my plans, to his plan, God was able to work with me then.
- 6:47Ron Meyers: Well, Rodney, I know you personally and I see what you've done, and we'll talk about your book that you've sent out 100,000 copies in just a little bit.
- 6:52Ron Meyers: But how do you maintain your sobriety and continue to grow your faith in this crazy upside down world?
- 7:00Rodney Williams: Well, that's through the renewing of the mind, you know, through the Word of God and in the relationship that I have with Christ man, I'm satisfied, I'm complete.
- 7:07Rodney Williams: The Bible says, for it pleased the Father, that in him should all fullness dwell.
- 7:10Rodney Williams: Jesus is the fullness, the completeness.
- 7:12Rodney Williams: Everything we're looking for in the world is found in Christ Jesus, in this relationship, and that's what I found.
- 7:18Rodney Williams: Everything I was looking for I found in him.
- 7:20Rodney Williams: I'm satisfied, I'm satisfied, I'm complete.
- 7:22Rodney Williams: And now I got to stay in the word.
- 7:24Rodney Williams: I got to stay in this relationship, just like a husband and wife.
- 7:26Rodney Williams: You've got to take her on dates.
- 7:28Rodney Williams: You got to spend quality time with your wife, and same thing with Jesus.
- 7:34Rodney Williams: You got to spend that quality time with him, to get to know him.
- 7:37Rodney Williams: And it takes time, it's a process.
- 7:40Ron Meyers: I love to have my coffee with Jesus every morning and I tell people, you know the one thing a lot of us approaching Jesus, they think, well, I have to be in a church or I have to be religious.
- 7:50Ron Meyers: And I tell people no, just open up your heart.
- 7:52Ron Meyers: If you want to yell, you want to complain, whatever it is, have a conversation with Jesus and then shut up for a few minutes and that still quiet voice will begin speaking and it can change your life, just like it did for me.
- 8:07Ron Meyers: He saved me, he saved you.
- 8:09Ron Meyers: Amen, and life is good with Jesus isn't it?
- 8:12Rodney Williams: Amen, it is.
- 8:14Rodney Williams: I can't see how I lived without him all those years, you know.
- 8:17Ron Meyers: But if you didn't have all the hell in your life, you couldn't be such a great promoter of Jesus today because you've been there, done that, have the t-shirt and now you're telling people how you got free.
- 8:30Ron Meyers: So, speaking on that, what advice would you give someone listening right now that's struggling with addiction and they just don't know what to do and they can't go to home of grace because they have no money?
- 8:42Rodney Williams: Yeah, Well, like I said, I searched everything in the world had to offer, tried all the things I thought would satisfy me and come up empty.
- 8:49Rodney Williams: And then I know where you're at right now.
- 8:52Rodney Williams: You've lost hope.
- 8:53Rodney Williams: You've tried many things to get to quit, to change on your own and you just can't do it.
- 8:57Rodney Williams: But you've got to come to a point where you just hate, hate the life, hate the sin, and you die from it.
- 9:03Rodney Williams: That's when you turn and you cry out to God and just ask him to forgive you and come and be Lord of your life, master your life and come and change you, and he will.
- 9:13Rodney Williams: And he begins a process and it is a process of him transforming your change.
- 9:17Rodney Williams: I always tell people I'm not where I want to be, but I ain't where I used to be 23 years ago.
- 9:21Rodney Williams: I'm a totally different, a new creation in Christ, but used to be 23 years ago.
- 9:27Rodney Williams: I'm a totally different, a new creation in Christ, but I'm totally changed from where I was and I'm a work in progress.
- 9:29Rodney Williams: You know I'm not perfect, but I'm in the process.
- 9:31Ron Meyers: Well, you said something a minute ago that you just have to begin to hate your life.
- 9:36Ron Meyers: I say you will.
- 9:37Ron Meyers: You don't have to hate your life, because you will begin to hate your life and that is the decision part of your life.
- 9:44Ron Meyers: Do you turn to the world, do you turn to Mohammed, do you turn to the Koran or do you turn to Jesus, the name above all names?
- 9:53Ron Meyers: And obviously I'm going to promote Jesus 24, seven, every day of the week, because Jesus came to this world for you and I, for all of our listeners, so we could become the person he created us to be.
- 10:08Ron Meyers: And I talk about destiny a lot on this show because I believe that we will never be fulfilled, we'll never have peace, we'll never enjoy with the fruits of what God has given us if we don't discover our purpose.
- 10:20Ron Meyers: So, rodney Williams, what's your destiny in this world?
- 10:25Ron Meyers: Purpose?
- 10:26Rodney Williams: So, rodney Williams, what's your destiny in this world?
- 10:28Rodney Williams: What's your purpose, rodney Williams?
- 10:30Rodney Williams: My purpose is to go out and share the freedom that I found in Christ Jesus.
- 10:31Rodney Williams: There's a lost world out here, living in darkness, just like I was, in addiction, just in sin, and they're looking for something.
- 10:40Rodney Williams: They just don't know what they're looking for.
- 10:42Rodney Williams: And what we're looking for is Jesus.
- 10:43Rodney Williams: That was God's plan from the very beginning of the foundation of the world that Jesus, the light of the world, that he would send in to save us from our sin and from the curse that we're all under, and would set us free and give us the liberty, the freedom that we're all looking for, the relationship that we're looking for.
- 10:59Rodney Williams: We're all designed to be in relationship with God, you know, and he wants a relationship with every one of us, but he gave us free will that you can choose.
- 11:11Rodney Williams: Choose to continue living the way you're living and be miserable, or choose to follow and serve him, and what God has for you is everything you're looking for.
- 11:15Rodney Williams: I tell people, after 23 years of serving Jesus, I'm a satisfied customer.
- 11:20Ron Meyers: You know, and if you're listening and you wonder about Jesus, you want to know more about Jesus.
- 11:24Ron Meyers: Talk to people like Rodney, me and the other thousands of people around you that discover Jesus and ask them how their life is different.
- 11:33Ron Meyers: You can only find this from people who personally experience Jesus, and something you did, rodney, is you wrote a book, or maybe even two books, and tell the listeners about this book and how they can get a copy.
- 11:46Rodney Williams: Yeah, the first book God told me to write was Club Meth to Christ, and we've printed over 100,000 books.
- 11:52Rodney Williams: And then the second book was Once an Addict, now Free, just showing you that addiction is a worship disorder we're pursuing trying to be satisfied in the world, but we're spiritual beings and God wants us to be come into relationship with him.
- 12:07Rodney Williams: And how we come into relationship with relationship with him is through Jesus Christ.
- 12:11Rodney Williams: And uh, and then and he realized he's everything, when you come in this relationship with Christ and give him your all, uh, you realize everything you had been looking for in the world is you find it in?
- 12:21Ron Meyers: him.
- 12:22Ron Meyers: I remember when we were filming something with you years ago, one of the girls that worked with me I believe it was Ashley heard about that book and she sent that book to someone that was incarcerated up in Oklahoma.
- 12:35Ron Meyers: That book changed their life.
- 12:37Ron Meyers: And I'm telling you, friends, this is we all have a purpose, we all have a calling in life and until you get in that calling and purpose, you're going to just wander around the world.
- 12:47Ron Meyers: His purpose is in these books and I would highly recommend getting a copy of this book.
- 12:53Ron Meyers: And Rodney does it for free.
- 12:54Ron Meyers: The Lord provides for him.
- 12:56Ron Meyers: So, rodney, how do they get a copy of this book?
- 12:58Rodney Williams: You can go to our website clubmethtochristcom all lowercase clubmethtoch, christcom all lowercase club meth to christcom and uh, just uh, there's a thing in there about the books.
- 13:10Rodney Williams: You know that you can message me.
- 13:12Rodney Williams: I just need an address, your name and address.
- 13:15Rodney Williams: If you're in prison or have a loved one in prison, just send me all the information, the ais number, whatever needs to be done to get it to the jails.
- 13:21Rodney Williams: We send them across the country to jails prisons.
- 13:24Rodney Williams: We want to see inmates.
- 13:26Ron Meyers: We want to see addicts free, like I was free Did you ever play, when you were a kid, that little game called dot to dot.
- 13:34Ron Meyers: You go and you take, go from number one to number two and you eventually get a picture.
- 13:38Ron Meyers: I bring that up because you know when you're talking I think about when all of us are faithful in the gifts and calling of our life, we help put that picture that God has for all of us coming together.
- 13:50Ron Meyers: Your dot connects with another one and another one, and soon it's that I see that unity in Christ.
- 13:56Ron Meyers: They were in one spirit, that we're talking about Jesus, something the world is desperate for now.
- 14:02Ron Meyers: Does that make sense?
- 14:03Rodney Williams: Yes, yes, that's why it's called the body of Christ.
- 14:05Rodney Williams: You know, there's many different functions, you know, and they're all needed for the body to work the way it's supposed to work.
- 14:13Ron Meyers: So now you've got the microphone, I need you to give somebody some encouragement or hope that's listening right now.
- 14:20Rodney Williams: Well, in your darkest moment, you know your darkest moment.
- 14:24Rodney Williams: You know when you have no hope, there's hope in God.
- 14:27Rodney Williams: You know what I'm saying Through Christ Jesus.
- 14:29Rodney Williams: You know that you just got to cry out to God and mean it with the heart, not just the profession.
- 14:34Rodney Williams: The heart is the center of who we are.
- 14:36Rodney Williams: You know what I'm saying.
- 14:40Rodney Williams: When you cry out to God in the heart, in repentance, that you don't want to live this way no more, and ask him to come and to live in your heart and to make you his child, he'll do it and it's called regeneration, or the new birth takes place, and that day forward you begin to follow him.
- 14:58Rodney Williams: And you know me.
- 15:01Rodney Williams: God's plan for me was to not only give my life to him, but I was so full of the world I went to a Christian rehabilitation center where God was able to cleanse me, wash me and build a foundation that I've got to build upon the rest of my life.
- 15:13Rodney Williams: You know, because I'm in a process.
- 15:15Rodney Williams: You know I'm in the process of God transforming me, changing me, making me, day by day, that new creation in Christ Amen.
- 15:24Ron Meyers: You know one thing, listeners, I've known Rodney for many years and this is a follow-up to an interview I did a few years ago but, rodney, you lost your wife, Jennifer a few years ago, who I had interviewed, and you went through that tragic thing in your life and you still went out and wrote the books and went out to prisons.
- 15:46Ron Meyers: How is life now without, uh, jennifer, your partner, uh and soulmate, uh, and now you're out there and I think you remarried, didn't you?
- 15:55Rodney Williams: I did and uh, yeah, we, um, you know, uh, life, life, we live in a fallen world, fallen, uh.
- 16:02Rodney Williams: You know death comes, you know you, just, you just gotta.
- 16:06Rodney Williams: That's why christ has got to be preeminent, you know, uh, you know he's got to be superior in your life over your mama, your brother, your sister and all things.
- 16:14Rodney Williams: You got to put christ in the proper position, uh.
- 16:17Rodney Williams: So when you, when you lose someone, uh, or you got sickness, you got, whatever hardships, whatever you go through, uh, christ, christ is there to go with you through it.
- 16:26Rodney Williams: You know what I'm saying.
- 16:27Rodney Williams: He is your strength, he's your empowerment, he's your comforter, he's everything that you need to get you through that and to keep serving him and living for him.
- 16:37Ron Meyers: Rodney, I'm so proud of you and it's a pleasure to call you my friend because I know what you do.
- 16:42Ron Meyers: You go down in New Orleans, a lot down in the French Quarter, and talk with people about Jesus.
- 16:47Ron Meyers: You're doing so much good work out there.
- 16:49Ron Meyers: Before we go today, will you pray for anyone that's listening, that's dealing with any type of addiction, whatever it is?
- 16:58Ron Meyers: You fill in the blank.
- 16:59Ron Meyers: Will you pray for them, please, Father?
- 17:02Rodney Williams: God, we just come before you thanking you that you love us and you demonstrated that love through the cross of Jesus Christ.
- 17:09Rodney Williams: Lord, I just pray for the people that are out there, god, that are in the darkness and the bondage of addiction.
- 17:14Rodney Williams: Lord, that you'll draw them, call them, that they'll just release them, release the addiction and turn and put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ and begin this journey to trusting you and living for you.
- 17:27Rodney Williams: Lord, everything that they need, god, I pray that you'll supply.
- 17:30Rodney Williams: Give them the comfort they need, the joy that they need, and let them know that you are real, lord.
- 17:36Rodney Williams: God, make yourself real to them in Jesus' name Amen.
- 17:43Ron Meyers: When I return Ron's pep talk.
- 17:47Speaker 1: You're listening to Get the Hell Out of your Life with your host, ron Myers.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Real stories, real struggles and real hope Tell me what I mean by spiritual warfare.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Oh, that's when rival religious groups in the Middle East get into a civil war.
- 18:01Speaker 4: What is agape?
- 18:02Speaker 4: It's a little fish about as big as a dime Predestination.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Well, you're going on a trip and you have one destination in mind and change your mind and you want a different destination, let's face it often, Christians and churches speak a different language than everyone else.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Original destination.
- 18:14Speaker 4: That's predestination Rapture.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Oh, that's those dinosaurs in Jurassic Park that were the ancestors of birds.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Millennial rain.
- 18:21Speaker 4: Sometimes they have no idea what we're talking about.
- 18:23Speaker 4: She's the blonde with the southern accent on that Tuesday night sitcom.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Well, it's like when the Red Sox needed two points and the guy on second base had to sacrifice.
- 18:38Speaker 5: If you want to reach someone for Jesus Christ, learn how they think.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Get into their lives instead of waiting for them to come to you or your church, and put their message on a level they can understand and relate to spiritual gifts.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Well, it's like on somebody's birthday, you want to give them a cross necklace or a religious book.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Omnipotent, so that's an animal that can eat meat or vegetation, like a grizzly bear.
- 19:00Speaker 6: God desires to be a part of your life.
- 19:01Speaker 6: It absolutely blows my mind that the creator of the heavens and the earth.
- 19:02Speaker 7: God desires to be a part of your life.
- 19:05Speaker 7: It absolutely blows my mind that the creator of the heavens and the earth, the King of Kings, wants to be close to us.
- 19:12Speaker 7: Throughout the Bible, god's desire for relationship with us is evident.
- 19:16Speaker 7: Genesis, chapters 2 and 3, we see not just a creator who speaks the world into being, but a father who walks with his children in the cool of the day.
- 19:25Speaker 7: God doesn't want to just be part of our Sundays.
- 19:27Speaker 7: He wants to walk with us daily, in our homes, our jobs, our decisions and our relationships.
- 19:34Speaker 7: He desires to shape us not just for heaven, but for life on earth today.
- 19:39Speaker 7: He wants to help us become better people, better parents, better sons and daughters.
- 19:43Speaker 7: Ephesians, chapter 6.
- 19:44Speaker 7: God wants His love and truth to be the foundation of our homes, in our speech, our patience, our love and our discipline.
- 19:52Speaker 7: He is eager to guide us if we will let Him.
- 19:55Speaker 7: Even in hardship, god is with us.
- 19:58Speaker 7: He is for us, not against us.
- 20:00Speaker 7: He desires a relationship with you, one where he is present in your parenting, your work, your decisions and even in your mistakes.
- 20:09Speaker 7: If you have not invited Jesus into your heart, do it today and let Him walk with you in your garden, whatever it looks like.
