- 0:39Speaker 2: me mom my little cousin did their Easter on Saturday
- 0:43Speaker 2: and didn't do nothing yesterday. I didn't get to wear
- 0:45Speaker 2: my Easter dress.
- 0:46Speaker 3: And they didn't tell you that they were doing it
- 0:48Speaker 3: on Saturday.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I mean kinda. They said they were doing something on Saturday,

- 1:54Speaker 5: new wax figure up. But there's this also, like a
- 1:57Speaker 5: bronze figure of Molly Malone at a statue and people
- 2:01Speaker 5: have rubbed her chest so much that the bronze is
- 2:03Speaker 5: rubbed off, and they're afraid that's gonna happen to Taylor Swift.
- 2:07Speaker 2: So they have literally put security cards Taylor Swift around

- 3:58Speaker 2: I one Bama thing you need to know you with
- 4:01Speaker 2: the Alabama sh Children's of Alabama just grew. They now
- 4:05Speaker 2: have fifty new intensive care patient rooms, which is on
- 4:09Speaker 2: the twelfth floor. That was an open space when the
- 4:12Speaker 2: hospital was built in twenty twelve, and they knew ahead
- 4:16Speaker 2: of time. Then when they did that they were going
- 4:18Speaker 2: to expand the hospital, they just didn't know what to
- 4:20Speaker 2: put there. So now it's the intensive care unit, but
- 4:23Speaker 2: they also have special care unit, so this is huge
- 4:26Speaker 2: for children. Olivia Rodrigo announced a brand new album that
- 4:31Speaker 2: will be out. It's going to be her third album.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It's called You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So
- 4:36Speaker 2: in Love. She made the announcement on Instagram. She worked
- 4:39Speaker 2: with the same producer that she worked with on Sour
- 4:42Speaker 2: and Guts. She said the songs on the album are
- 4:45Speaker 2: sad love songs and we can look forward to that
- 4:47Speaker 2: album dropping the summer on June twelfth. Liquid Death is
- 4:51Speaker 2: giving away a house that has sparkling water flowing from
- 4:55Speaker 2: the taps.
- 4:56Speaker 3: That's kind of sick.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Liquid God. If you don't know what Liquid Death is,
- 5:00Speaker 2: it's the canned water company they've teamed up with a
- 5:02Speaker 2: homebuilder and they want to make sure that the house
- 5:05Speaker 2: literally has soda flavored sparkling water flowing from the faucets.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Who's gonna take a shower in sparkling water? And you
- 5:11Speaker 2: know how sticky you're gonna be?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Sign me up.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I can't like they're doing it through the whole pipes,
- 5:16Speaker 2: like all the faucets, the sink. But if you need
- 5:19Speaker 2: regular water, if you just need plain water, you're gonna
- 5:22Speaker 2: have to go. But anyway, if you do want to
- 5:25Speaker 2: sign up, you got to buy cans of liquid death.
- 5:28Speaker 2: There's also another way on their website you can go
- 5:30Speaker 2: check it out. The contest goes through June thirtieth. You
- 5:33Speaker 2: get a free house, but you're gonna spend a lot
- 5:34Speaker 2: of money having everything replumbed, getting a plumber plumbed. Is
- 5:40Speaker 2: that your pipes fixed? No?
- 5:42Speaker 3: I like it plumbed.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna read your house plumped.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Get it plumbed, baby.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That's three things you need to know more at the
- 5:48Speaker 2: Alabama Show dot com.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You're listening to the Alabama Show.
- 5:53Speaker 2: On to man, Good morning Brody. What's your issue for
- 5:56Speaker 2: ask Alabama?
- 5:57Speaker 4: Well, my wife and I are party over a baby name.
- 6:00Speaker 2: That's why we do ask Alabama. If you ever need help,
- 6:03Speaker 2: we do our best to help you. Eight three three
- 6:05Speaker 2: five I one Obama is the number. What's going on
- 6:07Speaker 2: with the baby names?
- 6:08Speaker 4: A wife and I are expecting our first daughter in
- 6:11Speaker 4: a few months and thank you, thank you. And my
- 6:15Speaker 4: wife wants to name her after my wife's little sister, Rebecca,
- 6:19Speaker 4: but I am completely against that.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Okay, why is that? Why are you against the name Rebecca?
- 6:25Speaker 6: Well, her little sister is a spoil of brat, like
- 6:27Speaker 6: a completely spoiled brat, and I don't want my daughter
- 6:30Speaker 6: to have that lagasy understand when to thay, what does.
- 6:33Speaker 2: She do that makes her spoiled brat?
- 6:35Speaker 6: I mean she has complete meltdowns every time she does
- 6:38Speaker 6: not get her own way, okay, like a child, Like
- 6:41Speaker 6: she has adult tantrum out in public.
- 6:44Speaker 2: How does the rest of your wife's family trader when
- 6:47Speaker 2: she does that?
- 6:47Speaker 6: Well, I mean they just they just baby her like
- 6:49Speaker 6: they treated like it's normal.
- 6:51Speaker 4: And you know, that's that's why she's such a problem,
- 6:53Speaker 4: to be honest, I know.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 6: And then so Rebecca told my wife that she would
- 6:59Speaker 6: love for our to be named after her, and they
- 7:02Speaker 6: bore her middle name. And they've been talking about that
- 7:05Speaker 6: back and forth, and I've just been like, no, absolutely not.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Okay, so you told your wife no. Now what is
- 7:12Speaker 2: Rebecca pitching a fit about it?
- 7:13Speaker 3: Or yeah, a little bit?
- 7:14Speaker 6: But they also keep bothering me about it, texting me
- 7:17Speaker 6: about it.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I've already told them no.
- 7:18Speaker 6: I politely told them no, and I'm about to lose
- 7:20Speaker 6: it on them, to be honest. And now even my
- 7:22Speaker 6: mother in law.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Is in on it, bothering about it, texting me about it, and.
- 7:26Speaker 6: Uh, I'm about to get unpolite on them.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I mean, am I being too stubborn about this?
- 7:30Speaker 3: I don't think you're being stubborn enough. Brother, Think you
- 7:33Speaker 3: gotta go harder on this.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I mean, I think Rebecca's a lovely name.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I'd like somebody even start with this, Brodie, I'm with you, brother,
- 7:42Speaker 3: Think you need to.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Tell me Rebecca.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Rebecca is a nice name in and of itself.
- 7:47Speaker 6: Sure, but I don't want my daughter to have that
- 7:49Speaker 6: woman's legacy.
- 7:51Speaker 2: This could be a name passed down for generations. You
- 7:54Speaker 2: could be starting a legacy here.
- 7:58Speaker 4: No, this is complete, boy, that's my kid, my baby,
- 8:03Speaker 4: my first daughter.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I mean, yes, I get that.
- 8:05Speaker 6: My wife does get a stay, but gonna say, yeah,
- 8:10Speaker 6: her sister.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Does not know.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Call the show. Have you ever dealt with something like this?
- 8:14Speaker 2: Eight three three five o one and Bama is the number?
- 8:17Speaker 2: That's eight three three five oh one two two sixty two.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You're listening to the Alabama Show on demand.
- 8:24Speaker 2: If you've ever gotten in a fight over baby names,
- 8:26Speaker 2: call the show eight three three five oh one and Bama.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Brody and his wife are fighting because his sister in
- 8:31Speaker 2: law wants them to name their daughter after her, and
- 8:35Speaker 2: she's a brat and he's like, I want nothing about it.
- 8:37Speaker 2: You can also comment on Facebook on The Alabama Show.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Rose says, don't ever discuss with family what the baby
- 8:43Speaker 2: or baby's name will be. That's absolutely accurate.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I fully agree.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Me Ma was mad my grandmother who raised me. When
- 8:50Speaker 2: Hannah wanted to name her baby Ida, she was like, Ida,
- 8:53Speaker 2: that's the old lady's name, but now we love it.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Well, yeah, it just words.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Also, Sephanie says, my niece and daughter have the same
- 9:01Speaker 2: middle name, are Nana's? When I asked my brother since
- 9:05Speaker 2: my niece is older, he said that she was both
- 9:08Speaker 2: aren't Nana? And I'm not the name police, but anyway,
- 9:13Speaker 2: just if you can comment on The Alabama Show. If
- 9:16Speaker 2: you want it, go follow the Alabama Show, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok,
- 9:20Speaker 2: but call in too. Have you ever gotten in a
- 9:22Speaker 2: fight with somebody over what to name your baby? Eight
- 9:24Speaker 2: three three five oh one. Bama is the number.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It's three things you need to know you with the
- 9:30Speaker 1: Alabama Show.
- 9:31Speaker 2: The End Addiction Birmingham Walk is coming up April twenty fifth.
- 9:35Speaker 2: This is a great way to get out and support
- 9:37Speaker 2: your community. It's hosted by the Addiction Prevention Coalition of Birmingham.
- 9:42Speaker 2: It's going to be at City Walk at eleven am Saturday,
- 9:45Speaker 2: April twenty fifth, and they have a ton of resources
- 9:48Speaker 2: for people who want to be in recovery. People in
- 9:51Speaker 2: recovery and family members who may want to help someone.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Last year they were handing out narcan and teaching people
- 9:58Speaker 2: how to use it so it could liter save a life.
- 10:01Speaker 2: They also honor lives lost to addiction at the walk.
- 10:04Speaker 2: This is a huge passion thing for me because, if
- 10:07Speaker 2: you know, I lost my mother to addiction over five
- 10:10Speaker 2: years ago. So this is a great thing. Saturday, April
- 10:13Speaker 2: twenty fifth, mark your calendars. Glam is back. According to
- 10:18Speaker 2: Fashion experts, nude colors are out, and now the early
- 10:21Speaker 2: two thousand's glam mom is back like big blowouts, glam makeup,
- 10:25Speaker 2: low rise dreams, low rise jeans. Just think early two
- 10:31Speaker 2: thousands vibes like Eva Longoria and Desperate Housewives. This is
- 10:35Speaker 2: all thanks to TikTok. Everybody's in their nostalgia area era.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Everyone is begging Trader Joe's to make their April Fools
- 10:42Speaker 2: joke a real thing. On April Fools last week, Producer Blake,
- 10:45Speaker 2: they posted a lip mask that was chili lime flavored,
- 10:49Speaker 2: inspired by their chili lime tortilla chips. What it was
- 10:53Speaker 2: an April Fools joke, but everybody in the comments immediately
- 10:56Speaker 2: were like, I'll buy this a lip mask. You put
- 10:58Speaker 2: it on your lips to moisturize on. It's a girl thing.
- 11:01Speaker 2: And they're like, I would do this. So now people
- 11:03Speaker 2: are literally in the comments begging Trader Joe's to make
- 11:06Speaker 2: this a real thing. And if you know anything about
- 11:08Speaker 2: Trader Joe's, they are real good at making weird things.
- 11:11Speaker 2: You have tried some weird Trader Joe's things on the
- 11:13Speaker 2: show here and they end up being hit. So we'll
- 11:16Speaker 2: see look out for a Chilly Lime lip mask coming
- 11:20Speaker 2: out soon.
- 11:20Speaker 3: We'll be trying it right here first.
- 11:22Speaker 2: That is three things you need to know more at
- 11:25Speaker 2: Thelabama Show dot com.
- 11:27Speaker 1: You're listening to the Alabama Show on demand.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Memphis just got national recognition and that is the good
- 11:33Speaker 2: news for today. I love Memphis. So Dixon Gardens has
- 11:38Speaker 2: been named one of the South's best places to see
- 11:41Speaker 2: tulips in Southern Living. Southern Living is a huge magazine.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I don't know if you keep up with Southern Living.
- 11:47Speaker 2: They did a list of six best places to keep
- 11:50Speaker 2: tulips blooming in the South. Dixon Gallery and Gardens is
- 11:54Speaker 2: in that list, so top six in the South. One
- 11:56Speaker 2: of the best things about the gardens though, is it's
- 11:59Speaker 2: very community centered and it's one of the most accessible
- 12:02Speaker 2: because it's free to get it. It's free forever to go.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I love I love free events like this. I love tulips,
- 12:07Speaker 3: and I love Southern Living.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Do you love tulips?
- 12:09Speaker 3: I really genuinely do.
- 12:10Speaker 2: This is a great I mean, it's a great date.
- 12:12Speaker 2: You could take a lady to the gardens to see
- 12:14Speaker 2: the tulips in. This year is their fiftieth anniversary and
- 12:18Speaker 2: they planted a record breaking six hundred and fifty thousand
- 12:22Speaker 2: tulip bub bulbs across the whole garden, So there'll be
- 12:26Speaker 2: more flowers this year than there ever was.
- 12:29Speaker 3: That's so many.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Don't know. The people who were digging those holes were
- 12:33Speaker 2: over it by the end of it.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Stop buying so many tulips.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Anyway, that is what's awesome. If you haven't made it
- 12:41Speaker 2: out to the gardens yet, this year is a great
- 12:42Speaker 2: year to go.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You were listening to the Alabama Show. The following program
- 12:47Speaker 1: is fun demand good news.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Stories that make me cry are always the best, and
- 12:51Speaker 2: this one might get you. A entire school learned sign
- 12:56Speaker 2: language so that a deaf first grader would never feel alone.
- 13:02Speaker 3: That is so sweet. I can't believe they actually put
- 13:05Speaker 3: in this tom Oh my god, it's.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Gonna get me. So a seven year old in New
- 13:08Speaker 2: Hampshire named Ben is the only deaf student in his
- 13:12Speaker 2: school district. His elementary school wanted him to feel included.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I'm going to try to get through this story without crying,
- 13:18Speaker 2: but this is about to get me. They all learned
- 13:22Speaker 2: side language together, even the teachers and all of his classmates.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Oh my god, why is this getting me as hard
- 13:28Speaker 2: as it is? And teachers can now communicate with him,
- 13:31Speaker 2: and the students can play better with him. Man, listen
- 13:35Speaker 2: to this kid's mom and the school. He didn't have
- 13:38Speaker 2: relationships with his peers or teachers for that matter. He
- 13:43Speaker 2: was very alone and he acted very alone. If he
- 13:46Speaker 2: is your friend, you can play with it. Oh's and
- 13:50Speaker 2: he is my friend. Now they can ask each other, Hey,
- 13:53Speaker 2: you want to play right.
- 13:54Speaker 3: It clicked for him that the sign language had value.
- 13:59Speaker 2: You could just watch his world like open up with communication.
- 14:03Speaker 2: It was that can't just got me If he's your friend,
- 14:06Speaker 2: I can't. That elementary school deserves an award or something
- 14:10Speaker 2: that is so awesome. And that's that's the way that
- 14:14Speaker 2: we our community should be. If somebody is feeling alone
- 14:17Speaker 2: or they're left out, you all come together to make
- 14:19Speaker 2: it awesome for him, and that school is what's awesome.
- 14:22Speaker 1: You were listening to the Alabama Show on demand.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I don't know if I committed a crime or not.
- 14:29Speaker 3: If you have to ask, I'm gonna guess that you have.
- 14:31Speaker 2: By the way, thanks for listening to the Alabama Show.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I'm Alabama with producer Blake. If you are a police
- 14:38Speaker 2: officer listening to the show, oh gosh, feel free to
- 14:41Speaker 2: call and tell me.
- 14:43Speaker 3: If what I did is wrong, hit me with it.
- 14:46Speaker 2: So yesterday I donated a bunch of stuff at the
- 14:49Speaker 2: thrift store.
- 14:50Speaker 3: I don't like where this is going going, and I
- 14:52Speaker 3: dropped it off.
- 14:53Speaker 2: And yesterday, obviously it was a Sunday and it was Easter,
- 14:56Speaker 2: so the thrift store was closed.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I had bags.
- 14:59Speaker 2: And bags and bags of clothes. I donated, some never
- 15:03Speaker 2: worn really nice leather shoes that didn't fit, some stuff
- 15:07Speaker 2: I got off the TikTok shop. Like good stuff I donated. Yes,
- 15:10Speaker 2: I just need you to know it was good, expensive
- 15:13Speaker 2: stuff that I donated at the thrift store.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Quit emphasizing it, Just tell me what you did.
- 15:18Speaker 2: So I pull up to the back of the thrift
- 15:20Speaker 2: store and I donated. I put it down right well.
- 15:25Speaker 2: As I'm leaving, out of the corner of my eye,
- 15:27Speaker 2: I see this tennis racket.
- 15:30Speaker 3: There's no ways sitting on the.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Grill, and I haven't been able to find my tennis
- 15:35Speaker 2: racket at home to hit the carpenter bees. I've got
- 15:38Speaker 2: carpenter bees on my front porch, and I stand.
- 15:40Speaker 5: On the front porch and I hit them with the
- 15:42Speaker 5: tennis racket across the.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Yard did you take Did you take the tennis rack?
- 15:48Speaker 2: I took the tennis I was like, I just donated,
- 15:51Speaker 2: but what I donated is way more expensive than this
- 15:53Speaker 2: tennis racket. They're not even here, has it been processed yet?
- 15:57Speaker 2: So I took the tennis racket.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I hope this is a crime.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Well, I have a friend that's a police officer, and
- 16:06Speaker 2: I asked him about it yesterday because I went on
- 16:08Speaker 2: my merry way and I'm like, this is it's fine,
- 16:11Speaker 2: Like I donate, it's like trading, and he goes, no,
- 16:15Speaker 2: you didn't, and I went, yes, I did. He goes,
- 16:17Speaker 2: what freaking thrift story? Did you take it from? And
- 16:19Speaker 2: I told him. He's like, you know, they all have
- 16:22Speaker 2: cameras out back and they call us all the time
