- 0:48Hey guys, in this video I'm going to go through some
- 0:50essential autism gifts that I think you are going to
- 0:52definitely need. Guys, what's going on?
- 0:53Welcome back to the Aspy world. My name is Dan and I have
- 0:56autism, ADHD. I make weekly videos, all of
- 0:58this stuff. So if you are coming beyond this
- 1:00journey, it helps improves a lot of people on the spectrum.
- 1:02Make sure to hit the subscribe button down below so you can get
- 1:05notified by clicking the notification bell when I upload
- 1:07a video. So gifts are a huge thing when
- 1:11it comes to like people wanting to buy gifts or people on the
- 1:13office of the spectrum want to buy gifts for people who may
- 1:15have ADHD. It's a whole thing, right?
- 1:17And so I put together a lovely list of seven items which I
- 1:20think are just perfect for like, you know, gift ideas that are
- 1:24going to get you thinking stimulating.
- 1:26If anything, I recommend that I can find a specific item for I
- 1:29will have linked it down below. So make sure to check the
- 1:31description of this video, but also, if you want my free autism
- 1:34life hacks PDF book completely free, be sure to go to
- 1:38autismhacks.net or click the link down below.
- 1:40The link's there as well. Still guys, in terms of the
- 1:43first thing I want to talk about is century toys and tools.
- 1:46So century toys and tools are kind of like gadgets in and
- 1:48gizmos that are like fidget spinners, you know, fidget
- 1:51boards, anything fidget related. These things are like century
- 1:53seeking types of of ideas of gift.
- 1:57Now this also comes under the umbrella of like tube bubble
- 2:01lights and kind of like strip lights and lights like this one
- 2:04in the background. Anything that's century seeking
- 2:06it even could be slime or putty. Those type of toys, textures and
- 2:10colors and movement based, which are really, really helpful for
- 2:13sensory seeking dopamine hungry autistic individuals.
- 2:17So if you're thinking about a gift, anything central related
- 2:19is awesome. Now here in the UK, there's a
- 2:21toy manufacturer called Smiths or a toy warehouse called Smiths
- 2:24or Smyths. Now they actually have a home
- 2:26fidget toys section. So if you are in the UK or
- 2:29Ireland, you can go to Smyths or Smiths toys and and actually
- 2:33look in there at the fidget toys section.
- 2:34Super awesome. I highly recommend it.
- 2:36And then I'll leave a link down below to my, my best fidget kind
- 2:39of toys ones I think are the best.
- 2:41There's quite a few independent ones on the Internet.
- 2:43I think they're amazing. So yeah, just check out the
- 2:45links #2 is visual aids now visual aids are for commutative
- 2:50issues, right? So people on the open spectrum
- 2:52need help with everything from daily life organization, to
- 2:55going to bed, to getting dressed and all those things I would
- 2:58highly recommend using as a gift using things like visual aids.
- 3:02This could be things like visual timers, communication tools.
- 3:06It could even be a poster, like a schedule chat or a picture
- 3:09grid. You can get a lot of these off
- 3:10Etsy as well, which is pretty amazing.
- 3:12Or you can go on like Pinterest that fine, go on, download it
- 3:14and print it off yourself, laminate it and you can make the
- 3:17whole gift yourself. I will be a link to Etsy for
- 3:20some of the stores I think are pretty cool.
- 3:22But this is the kind of gift which is not only awesome, but
- 3:25it's like super practical. Like it's really fun because you
- 3:27know that the person's taking interest, you know, in you.
- 3:30If you're a gift receiver and someone will give you a gift
- 3:32that's going to help you in ways that you didn't expect, then
- 3:35that's cool. They're thinking about you in
- 3:36all the right ways. OK, so before we get any
- 3:38further, I want to say thank you to today's video sponsor
- 3:41brilliant. Now Brilliant is a non
- 3:43prescription homeopathic medication I use specifically
- 3:46for ADHD, but you can use it mainly for things like anxiety
- 3:50and stress and reduced feelings of restlessness, irritability
- 3:53and impulsivity, which is also a really good bonus.
- 3:56Now the cool thing is that this actually helps increase focus
- 3:58and concentration, which I think is awesome and it's completely
- 4:01like there's no nasties in it. This is not addictive, super
- 4:04supernatural, right? So you can get your hands on
- 4:07this from the link in the description down below and I
- 4:09will give you a discount which you can use the code ask B-15 to
- 4:12get 15% off your first purchase. If you are thinking about taking
- 4:16brilliant, consult your doctor first just to make sure that
- 4:19everything is kosher. Okay guys, let's get on with the
- 4:22video. OK, so #4 is adaptive clothing.
- 4:24Now what I mean by this, Autistic individuals have
- 4:27sensory processing disorder, typically comorbidly Co
- 4:30occurring with the diagnosis of autism, which means not all
- 4:33clothing is made equally. So they'll be like seams and
- 4:36tags and stuff. That's really going to annoy
- 4:37autistic people. You can get sensory adaptive
- 4:40clothing that are kind of like seamless socks.
- 4:43You can get no tag T-shirts, really comfy trousers.
- 4:47There's a bunch of different ones and I actually have worked
- 4:50with a bunch of different brands.
- 4:51What I'm going to do is link down the top of three that I've
- 4:53worked with sensory socks. There's one, a new one that's
- 4:56just come out that I did on my Instagram.
- 4:58So if you haven't already told me on Instagram, highly
- 5:01recommend. Check me out on Instagram right
- 5:02now. I upload videos every single day
- 5:04on Instagram and Instagram stories, and there's a couple of
- 5:06those I've worked with in the past.
- 5:07So definitely check out adaptive clothing.
- 5:10Really good, super helpful. I'm very practical again.
- 5:12OK, so #5 is therapy or education apps.
- 5:15You know, if I didn't have an iPad or iPhone, my life would be
- 5:18a whole lot different actually. It would.
- 5:20Be much more complex and I would hardly get anything done.
- 5:23But with the use of certain apps, I'm able to expand my
- 5:26relationship with schedules because the apps will remind me,
- 5:30the apps will keep me on track of how much medication I've
- 5:32taken, how much water I've taken, all of these things.
- 5:35There's a bunch of different apps out there, some amazing
- 5:37ones. And not only that, there's
- 5:38communication apps like Pro Alto to go, which is an amazing app
- 5:41that you can use. It puts the other visual stories
- 5:45of little kind of like graphics and then you press them and it
- 5:47speaks for you. So they say somebody is a non
- 5:49speaking autistic person, then you could use this gift to
- 5:54really just change their whole life.
- 5:55So I'm going to leave a link to some of the apps and
- 5:57recommendations that I have doubled as well.
- 5:59So you can definitely check those out.
- 6:00But it's a great gift idea and you can always gift apps.
- 6:03So if you're an iPhone user or an Android user, you can go to
- 6:06the store, the App Store, go in and say gift this.
- 6:08As long as you've got the person's e-mail address that
- 6:09you're going to send it to, you can gift them the app and then
- 6:12you pay for it and they receive it.
- 6:13It's a great digital awesome gift, especially if you're long
- 6:15distance. Number six is art and creativity
- 6:19kit. Now artistic individuals love
- 6:21different types of hands on play, kinesthetic learning,
- 6:25which is like using paint to make like, you know, hand paint
- 6:27drawings or pencils and coloring things and even coloring is
- 6:31therapeutic in itself. So always think about creativity
- 6:34and art kit. These things are going to be
- 6:35awesome for artistic individuals, but make sure the
- 6:37person you're getting these for is OK with paint or is OK with
- 6:41getting their hands dirty or is OK with felt tip pens or you
- 6:44want to make sure that the needs of the person is met also when
- 6:46you do these gifts. But this is just an idea.
- 6:49I'll link down below. Some of the ones I think are
- 6:50very creative. There's an amazing company
- 6:52called Lucky Kid from the United States and they do a lot of this
- 6:55kind of creativity type of stuff, but for autistic
- 6:57individuals. So I'll link you to those as
- 6:59well. And #7 is a no brainer.
- 7:01Everybody in their own system spectrum will have a topic of
- 7:04special interest, right? So that they're obsessed with
- 7:06that. They just want to talk about all
- 7:07the time. Yeah, I know mums and dads
- 7:09watching this video, you get what I'm saying, right?
- 7:11But in this specifically, if you know what your kid is into or
- 7:15you know what your loved one or your friend or cousin or
- 7:17whatever, whoever is on the spectrum you're buying for, if
- 7:19you know that they're really into cars, they're really into
- 7:21like, I don't know, snakes or something, or animals or
- 7:23whatever, get them something to do with a specific special
- 7:26interest. It will always pay off in
- 7:28dividends. It's something that will
- 7:29treasure forever. And you might think, oh, you
- 7:31know, they may have this already and blah, blah, blah.
- 7:33Dude, I can never have more Fight Club stuff.
- 7:35Like I have Fight Club stuff like all over my office right
- 7:37now. I'm obsessed with Fight Club.
- 7:38And if anybody bought me duplicates, I'd be like, well,
- 7:40thank goodness I've got a duplicate because now if one
- 7:42breaks, I've got a backup. Guys, smash that like button if
- 7:46this is helpful and share this video if you think it's going to
- 7:48change somebody's life and how we give you ideas.
- 7:50Love you always, peace out, see you next.
