- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I was just thinking, we've talked about winter, summer, autumn... but what about spring? Luna: Oh, spring! The season of flowers and new beginnings. We haven't covered that yet. Lucas: Exactly. So today, let's learn some phrases to describe spring weather in Spanish. Are you ready? Luna: Ready as ever. What's first? Lucas: Let's start with a basic one: Hace buen tiempo. This means 'the weather is nice' or 'good weather'. Luna: Hace buen tiempo. Hace buen tiempo. So it's like the opposite of 'hace frío' for winter? Lucas: Exactly. And you can use it when it's sunny, not too hot, not too cold. Like a perfect spring day. Luna: Nice. So I could say, 'Hoy hace buen tiempo.' Lucas: Perfect. Let's do a quick practice. Repeat after me: Hace buen tiempo. Luna: Hace buen tiempo. Lucas: Now, another classic spring phrase: las flores florecen. That means 'the flowers bloom'. Luna: Las flores florecen. That's a mouthful, but I like it. It sounds poetic. Lucas: It is. And it's perfect for spring because everything starts to bloom. You might say, 'En primavera, las flores florecen.' Luna: En primavera, las flores florecen. Oh, I love that. Let's practice that one again: las flores florecen. Lucas: Great job. Now, spring isn't always perfect. Sometimes it rains. So we have: llueve mucho, which means 'it rains a lot'. Luna: Llueve mucho. Like this morning, when I got soaked. Llueve mucho, indeed. Lucas: Exactly. And you can combine it: 'En abril, llueve mucho.' Luna: En abril, llueve mucho. That's true. April showers. Lucas: Now, let's show some love for the season. Me encanta la primavera. That means 'I love spring'. Luna: Me encanta la primavera. Me encanta la primavera. That's easy to remember. Because I do love spring. Lucas: And finally, a nice activity for good weather: Voy a dar un paseo. That means 'I'm going for a walk'. Luna: Voy a dar un paseo. Perfect. I can use that when it's nice outside. Lucas: Let's review all five phrases. First, Hace buen tiempo. Luna: Hace buen tiempo. Lucas: Las flores florecen. Luna: Las flores florecen. Lucas: Llueve mucho. Luna: Llueve mucho. Lucas: Me encanta la primavera. Luna: Me encanta la primavera. Lucas: And Voy a dar un paseo. Luna: Voy a dar un paseo. Lucas: Now, let's put them together in a little story. Imagine it's a beautiful spring day. What would you say? Luna: Hace buen tiempo. Me encanta la primavera. Voy a dar un paseo. Lucas: Wonderful. And as you walk, you see the flowers blooming: las flores florecen. Luna: Las flores florecen. That's a lovely image. Lucas: But then it starts to rain. What do you say? Luna: Llueve mucho. Oh well, I guess I'll head back. Lucas: And that's spring for you. Now, you know, with all this weather talk, I'm thinking about how nice it is to go for a walk and enjoy the season.
