- 0:08Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome in everyone to another episode of the
- 0:11Speaker 1: check O Deli. It's Andrew di Checo, Eagles beat reporter
- 0:14Speaker 1: for insidethebirds dot Com, here with you. And I'm sure
- 0:17Speaker 1: you're probably thinking to yourself at this stage of the game,
- 0:21Speaker 1: those inside the Birds guys have to be out of
- 0:24Speaker 1: ideas with training camp.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Not until the end of July. Well, I was racking
- 0:30Speaker 2: my brain.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I know that can be a frightening concept, but I
- 0:35Speaker 1: was sort of kicking around certain training camp storylines that
- 0:40Speaker 1: I feel pretty strongly about. And I'm going to go
- 0:43Speaker 1: through some predictions and outlooks things I feel strongly about,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and I'm almost gonna call my shot here in certain cases.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But let's start at my first point. On the offensive side,
- 0:59Speaker 1: running back Tank Bigsby is going to be a training
- 1:01Speaker 1: camp star, and as long as Saquon Barkley's here, his
- 1:07Speaker 1: usage is always going to be capped and it should be.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And I'm not here today suggesting that Saquon Barkley should
- 1:15Speaker 1: concede touches to Tank Bigsby. But when I watched Tank
- 1:19Speaker 1: play last season, and remember, we never had a chance
- 1:22Speaker 1: to see Tank Bigsby in training camp because he was
- 1:25Speaker 1: still in Jacksonville at that time. But when you watch
- 1:27Speaker 1: him play, there is an urgency. There's a desperation to
- 1:32Speaker 1: the way that he approaches every touch, whereas he almost
- 1:39Speaker 1: refuses to take a loss. That to me, in of
- 1:42Speaker 1: itself will really translate into a fascinating watch. In training camp,
- 1:49Speaker 1: he had fifty eight carries for three hundred and forty
- 1:51Speaker 1: four yards last year, but he was really sporadically utilized.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I think this year will have a much more clearly
- 1:57Speaker 1: defined role. Wouldn't surprise me if he pushes for five
- 2:00Speaker 1: hundred rushing yards. He had three forty four last year
- 2:04Speaker 1: in a role that wasn't very consistent. And I look
- 2:09Speaker 1: at the way that he plays with the urgency and
- 2:13Speaker 1: just his his physicality, trying to find a whole if
- 2:17Speaker 1: one's not there and create his own. It's very unorthodox
- 2:21Speaker 1: his running style. I admit that, and it piqued my
- 2:24Speaker 1: interest enough that I talked to Tank Bigsby last season
- 2:27Speaker 1: late in the year for two separate locker room sessions.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I think it combined for about twenty minutes. But I
- 2:32Speaker 1: wrote a story about him, and you could still read
- 2:34Speaker 1: that on Inside the Birds dot com. It's called Adversity
- 2:37Speaker 1: adversity adversity, and those were in his words talking about
- 2:41Speaker 1: how he established his running style and how that was
- 2:44Speaker 1: derived from his upbringing. And there's a really good quote
- 2:47Speaker 1: in there from Saquon Barkley about how he doesn't view
- 2:50Speaker 1: it as a one to two punch, more as a
- 2:53Speaker 1: one to one, and that to me under Sean Manny
- 2:58Speaker 1: and I think he's going to have a much more
- 3:01Speaker 1: clearly defined role.
- 3:02Speaker 2: But also in training camp, I'm expecting a lot of volume.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Let's not forget that sa Kwon Barkley is a player
- 3:07Speaker 1: that's clearly established, and even last summer there were days
- 3:12Speaker 1: where the Eagles eased off in terms of his workload.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Will Shipley got a lot of run and I'm expecting
- 3:18Speaker 1: more of the same.
- 3:19Speaker 2: But it's hard to.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Quantify the added size that Tank Bigsby has. It looks
- 3:27Speaker 1: like he spent some time in the gym and the explosiveness.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm basing that purely off of watching him run after
- 3:33Speaker 1: the catch in individual drills and things like that. But
- 3:35Speaker 1: in a spring setting, those are hard to quantify because
- 3:39Speaker 1: they're not running the football. It's a passing camp and
- 3:42Speaker 1: there's no pads of course, so you can't really see
- 3:45Speaker 1: his ability to pack a punch as a runner and
- 3:48Speaker 1: how he will translate into these new run concepts and
- 3:52Speaker 1: things of that nature. But I think Tank is going
- 3:55Speaker 1: to have a pretty big year. I think he's a
- 3:57Speaker 1: starting player in this league and he's twenty five years old,
- 4:01Speaker 1: not a lot of tread on the tire, and so
- 4:05Speaker 1: this is the final year of his rookie deal. Wouldn't
- 4:07Speaker 1: surprise me at all if teams court him in free
- 4:10Speaker 1: agency next year because of what he's going to do
- 4:12Speaker 1: this year and view him through the lens of a
- 4:15Speaker 1: starting NFL running back. I just think he's going to
- 4:18Speaker 1: be a training camp star. The energy that he brings
- 4:21Speaker 1: snap to snap, and the size that he brings, the
- 4:26Speaker 1: complimentary aspect working in tandem with Saquon Barkley. Saquon and
- 4:30Speaker 1: then I feel the need to reiterate this will take
- 4:33Speaker 1: the lion's share of the carries, and he has been
- 4:35Speaker 1: very durable during his time with the Eagles, But when
- 4:38Speaker 1: you look at the amount of times he's touched the
- 4:40Speaker 1: football over the last two years at twenty nine years old,
- 4:44Speaker 1: it's conceivable to think that the Eagles may look to
- 4:48Speaker 1: work in Tank a little bit more and get him
- 4:51Speaker 1: some work, and I think that's going to start in
- 4:53Speaker 1: training camp. Now. He's not someone that's going to catch
- 4:56Speaker 1: the football with regularity. He's not exactly as f in
- 5:00Speaker 1: that department. Neither a Saquon if we're being fair. That's
- 5:03Speaker 1: more Will Shipley's realm and previously Kenny Gamewell.
- 5:07Speaker 2: But he's proven, if you go back to.
- 5:09Speaker 1: The season finale last year, he can catch the football,
- 5:11Speaker 1: he can make something happen. He used some really good
- 5:14Speaker 1: body control and balance and really good spatial awareness to
- 5:18Speaker 1: create some yards. He ducked and he was able to
- 5:21Speaker 1: rumble for some more yards and it was kind of
- 5:23Speaker 1: a highlight, real worthy play. I think you're gonna see
- 5:26Speaker 1: more of those in camp this summer, and I am
- 5:29Speaker 1: expecting I'm calling this right now. I do believe that
- 5:32Speaker 1: once those of you read and listen to the reports
- 5:36Speaker 1: coming out of camp, there's probably gonna be some clamoring
- 5:39Speaker 1: for more bigsby this season. But let's not lose sight
- 5:43Speaker 1: of the fact that Saquon Barkley has been and I
- 5:46Speaker 1: believe will continue to still be a elite running back.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And I think that while there's been a lot of
- 5:53Speaker 1: talk about the passing game this summer and what that's
- 5:56Speaker 1: ultimately gonna look like.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It's gonna revolve excol exclusively.
- 6:00Speaker 1: But primarily around the running game and what they can
- 6:05Speaker 1: do off of that to make them a much more
- 6:08Speaker 1: dynamic offense.
- 6:10Speaker 2: So that's my first thought. I went a little long
- 6:13Speaker 2: on that one, but I.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Really like the player in Tank Bigsby. I've enjoyed my conversations,
- 6:18Speaker 1: and the more I think about it, it's not hard
- 6:21Speaker 1: for me.
- 6:21Speaker 2: To envision Tank having a banner summer.
- 6:24Speaker 1: The next one is something that I'm also very passionate about,
- 6:28Speaker 1: and that is the right guard situation. And every now
- 6:31Speaker 1: and then I'll see some post about why or why
- 6:35Speaker 1: the Eagles should sign McKai Beckton, or that he would be.
- 6:39Speaker 2: An upgrade for some reason.
- 6:41Speaker 1: That's not the case, certainly, at least in my view,
- 6:44Speaker 1: in this offense, where offensive linemen need to be even
- 6:48Speaker 1: more athletic to be able to execute some of the
- 6:50Speaker 1: different blocking schemes that they're going to have to do
- 6:53Speaker 1: in this offense. Also, let's not forget that McKay Beckton
- 6:59Speaker 1: was bench last season. He was very inconsistent and up
- 7:02Speaker 1: and down. You could make the argument that putting him
- 7:05Speaker 1: in an offensive in an offense that he would be
- 7:08Speaker 1: playing between Cam Jurgens and Lane Johnson would ultimately uplift
- 7:12Speaker 1: him and alleviate some of those concerns that you might
- 7:15Speaker 1: have where he was with the Chargers, and he was
- 7:18Speaker 1: exploited a little bit. But I just don't think that
- 7:21Speaker 1: there was that big of a drop off in play
- 7:23Speaker 1: or much at all from Beckton to Steen last year.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Steen as a solid player, I think because the offensive
- 7:30Speaker 1: line didn't perform the expectations, injuries being the primary reason
- 7:34Speaker 1: why you're more inclined to look at the new piece,
- 7:38Speaker 1: the new component to that group, and Tyler Stein being
- 7:42Speaker 1: that player I think got a little bit of unfair scrutiny,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and the Eagles like him certainly enough to not bring
- 7:50Speaker 1: in anyone else this offseason. He's going to be the
- 7:52Speaker 1: right guard, and from an athletics standpoint, I think that
- 7:57Speaker 1: he's going to suit this the these run designs better
- 8:01Speaker 1: than Becton ever could. And this is all hypothetical, but
- 8:06Speaker 1: why swap out a player who might not be a fit,
- 8:11Speaker 1: was bench last season and has historically had injury concerns.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We're talking about Lane Johnson coming off an injury, Landon
- 8:20Speaker 1: Dickerson and Cam Jurgen's battling through an abundance of injuries,
- 8:25Speaker 1: and then you're gonna want to hope that lightning strikes
- 8:27Speaker 1: twice by bringing in Mackai Beckton. I just don't understand that,
- 8:31Speaker 1: especially when you already have a capable right guard in
- 8:34Speaker 1: the wings. And I think for last summer, Moro Jomo
- 8:39Speaker 1: got the best of a lot of interior alignment, Landon
- 8:41Speaker 1: Dickerson included. So when you hear those reports and you
- 8:45Speaker 1: see those reports, you might be a little skeptical, and
- 8:48Speaker 1: maybe there's some recency bias there, But I mean, Moro
- 8:53Speaker 1: Jomo is a really special player who wins in a
- 8:56Speaker 1: variety of ways and very unique in that he doesn't
- 8:59Speaker 1: have the length of a Jordan Davis or a Jalen
- 9:02Speaker 1: Carter and he wins in other ways. So it makes
- 9:04Speaker 1: him a little bit more awkward, as Landon Dickerson said
- 9:06Speaker 1: to Block, So I don't think that should be viewed
- 9:08Speaker 1: at all as an indictment on Tyler Steen. And I
- 9:11Speaker 1: don't think that the run game woes last season should
- 9:13Speaker 1: be primarily shouldered by, you know, by looking at Tyler
- 9:19Speaker 1: Steen and saying he was the reason why they weren't
- 9:21Speaker 1: able to move forward. That that's a simplistic view, and
- 9:26Speaker 1: I'm trying my best to encourage folks to, you know,
- 9:29Speaker 1: think a you know, look at all angles of this situation.
- 9:33Speaker 1: It does not make any sense. Mackai Beckton is a
- 9:36Speaker 1: household name. But I think Tyler Steen is going to
- 9:39Speaker 1: check off some boxes this summer and leave no doubt
- 9:42Speaker 1: that he is the right player to be the right guard,
- 9:45Speaker 1: the right guy to be the right guard, and also
- 9:48Speaker 1: that the Eagles are He's going to prove the Eagles
- 9:52Speaker 1: wise for believing in him. Another shot I'm calling Johnny
- 9:58Speaker 1: Wilson is going to make the football team as one of,
- 10:02Speaker 1: if not the final, receiver on the depth chart. They
- 10:05Speaker 1: sorely missed his ability as a blocker and willingness to
- 10:08Speaker 1: do the dirty work that doesn't reveal itself in box scores,
- 10:13Speaker 1: and sometimes that can be taken for granted. But when
- 10:15Speaker 1: you don't have that player, which the Eagles didn't, Darius
- 10:18Speaker 1: Cooper did a nice job, will you know, mixing it
- 10:21Speaker 1: up and doing some of those things that Wilson was doing.
- 10:24Speaker 2: But when you have a.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Six foot six receiver who offers some uniqueness and differentiates
- 10:31Speaker 1: himself from that group, he can also help on special teams.
- 10:35Speaker 1: But I'm looking at Johnny Wilson and I have a
- 10:38Speaker 1: hard time separating what he was able to do last summer,
- 10:43Speaker 1: the final two weeks of camp before he suffered the
- 10:46Speaker 1: season ending injury, and just look past it and just
- 10:49Speaker 1: say this is a clean slad. He has to prove
- 10:51Speaker 1: himself again, because this is a player that was using
- 10:54Speaker 1: his frame to his advantage. He was using his six
- 10:56Speaker 1: foot six frame to shield defenders and coming up with
- 11:00Speaker 1: back shoulder receptions and contested catches and establishing more importantly,
- 11:04Speaker 1: a rapport with Jalen Hurtz that I think will carry over.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And even in the spring, he was winning on those
- 11:11Speaker 1: in breakers where you can see him attack the catch
- 11:13Speaker 1: point and when you offer something that's atypical and you
- 11:19Speaker 1: can help on special teams, and you're now healthy, which
- 11:22Speaker 1: was the big question that I had. I wanted to
- 11:23Speaker 1: see him moving around out there and how he was
- 11:27Speaker 1: going to fare. Were there any limitations. He seems to
- 11:31Speaker 1: be picking up right where he left off. So I
- 11:33Speaker 1: think Johnny Wilson makes this team. And again, all of
- 11:36Speaker 1: these predictions are clearly before training camp. But I'm going
- 11:40Speaker 1: to kind of call my shot here. He makes it.
- 11:45Speaker 1: The second safety spot is something that we've talked a
- 11:49Speaker 1: lot about on this podcast. I've written quite a bit
- 11:51Speaker 1: about it, and there's going to be questions throughout training camp.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Marcus EPs is going to be the clear favorite. He
- 11:58Speaker 1: started a number of games, including for the Eagles. He
- 12:01Speaker 1: started for last year. He was the immediate replacement to
- 12:04Speaker 1: Drew mccooba. He's a veteran, he's steady. Vic Fangio trust them,
- 12:09Speaker 1: But I have a hard time moving past what Joe Casper,
- 12:15Speaker 1: the Eagles defensive backs coach, and I wrote about this
- 12:17Speaker 1: on Inside the Birds dot Com when he mentions that
- 12:21Speaker 1: he always viewed Michael Carter as a potentially moving to safety.
- 12:28Speaker 1: That tells you that he has this skill set. And
- 12:31Speaker 1: when you look at how the position is evolving in
- 12:34Speaker 1: the NFL, you need your safeties to be multiple.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Not one dimensional.
- 12:40Speaker 1: And while Marcus EPs has experience working in his favor,
- 12:43Speaker 1: he is a limited athlete. He doesn't cover a ton
- 12:46Speaker 1: of ground. There are certain things that he can't do
- 12:49Speaker 1: that Michael Carter ken. Now the big question is going
- 12:51Speaker 1: to be, of course, how does Michael Carter translate to safety?
- 12:55Speaker 1: Can he do it at a competent enough level where
- 12:59Speaker 1: the Eagles feel confident in using him in a larger capacity.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Right now, he's the underdog and if you're trying to
- 13:06Speaker 1: size up those position battles, and I understand.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Why, but.
- 13:12Speaker 1: When you look at the way that Michael Carter plays,
- 13:14Speaker 1: the short area of quickness, the football IQ ball skills
- 13:18Speaker 1: and the range that is so necessary to play this position, now,
- 13:23Speaker 1: it just would, at least in theory, give Fick vangiol
- 13:26Speaker 1: a lot more optionality to maximize his personnel and get
- 13:32Speaker 1: a little creative. And so I know he's not being
- 13:36Speaker 1: talked about a lot now, but the Eagles are moving
- 13:37Speaker 1: him there for a reason. All signs and everything that
- 13:41Speaker 1: I've gathered suggests that Michael Carter is a quick learner,
- 13:45Speaker 1: a student of the game. His history with Joe Casper
- 13:49Speaker 1: extends well passed his time with the Eagles, it goes
- 13:52Speaker 1: into their time at Duke. So I have to imagine
- 13:55Speaker 1: that Joe knows how to tap into Michael Carter and
- 13:57Speaker 1: knows exactly what he can bring. I don't think this
- 14:01Speaker 1: is an experiment. I think this is more of a
- 14:05Speaker 1: we see the vision with this guy, and now after
- 14:09Speaker 1: sort of onboarding him in a larger capacity in the spring.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Let's see what he can do when we toss him
- 14:15Speaker 1: in the deep end in training camp, where pads are
- 14:17Speaker 1: coming on and every mistake that you make is magnified.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I think Michael Carter the Second will emerge as the starter.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And let's not forget Cooper Degen is going to be
- 14:29Speaker 1: playing safety and bass. But I think for when the
- 14:33Speaker 1: Eagles are in Nickel, I think Michael Carter the second
- 14:37Speaker 1: wind up overtaking Marcus EPs in training camp. The athleticism
- 14:41Speaker 1: and just the versatility that he brings might be too
- 14:44Speaker 1: appealing when you're trying to determine who warrants the starting
- 14:50Speaker 1: spot opposite Drew mcouba. Another defensive back that I think
- 14:56Speaker 1: is going to be an absolute star this summer is
- 15:01Speaker 1: so reeke Onohan and I feel like I've talked about
- 15:05Speaker 1: this and really driven the point home quite a bit,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but it bears repeating. He was a summer spring standout
- 15:13Speaker 1: that I think will eventually morph into a summer standout
- 15:16Speaker 1: and graduate in there when the pads come on. But
- 15:19Speaker 1: you see the size and the athleticism, But when you
- 15:22Speaker 1: get beyond that, I see a player who's motivated and
- 15:28Speaker 1: in an optimal position to take advantage of what I'm
- 15:31Speaker 1: expecting to be a ton of targets in his direction. So,
- 15:35Speaker 1: in other words, making plays on the football. He has
- 15:38Speaker 1: the length to narrow those throwing windows. He can break
- 15:40Speaker 1: up passes. But I also saw him be able to
- 15:43Speaker 1: take the football away. I saw it as a rookie
- 15:45Speaker 1: when he was in Seattle, and I also saw it
- 15:47Speaker 1: on the final practice of mandatory mini camp where he
- 15:50Speaker 1: read it perfectly, jumped in front of Dallas Goddard and
- 15:52Speaker 1: secured the interception.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I suspect there will be a flurry of big.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Plays from Greek Wollan, And again, there's a lot that
- 16:02Speaker 1: he's playing for this year, so he's going into it
- 16:05Speaker 1: already motivated. He got the one year deal for a
- 16:09Speaker 1: twenty seven year old with that kind of upside and
- 16:12Speaker 1: those measurables.
- 16:14Speaker 2: There's more than meets the eye there.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But I have the sense that he's going to take
- 16:20Speaker 1: his game to another level here in Philadelphia. It's a
- 16:23Speaker 1: clean slate, it's a new defense, and he's going to
- 16:27Speaker 1: see a lot of action this summer. So expect a
- 16:30Speaker 1: fluria big plays and expect Rieke Wohan to show up frequently.
- 16:33Speaker 1: In my training camp observations. The final note that I
- 16:37Speaker 1: have here is something that I was tossing around for
- 16:44Speaker 1: about a month now, because there's a lot of directions
- 16:46Speaker 1: I could have went. There's an under the radar player
- 16:50Speaker 1: that to me, his situation really sets up well and
- 16:57Speaker 1: I think because of that he could end up being
- 16:59Speaker 1: a training camp standout. Now, to be clear, I'm not
- 17:04Speaker 1: forecasting this player to make the Eagles roster. He's played
- 17:08Speaker 1: in a handful of games over the past couple of years.
- 17:10Speaker 1: He spent a couple of years on the practice squad,
- 17:13Speaker 1: and that is third year safety Andre sam Hey.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Philly fans game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines,
- 17:20Speaker 3: We've all been there, But when it comes to your cannabis,
- 17:23Speaker 3: Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is the dispensary for
- 17:28Speaker 3: sports fans, just minutes outside of Philly, with plenty of
- 17:31Speaker 3: free parking.
- 17:32Speaker 2: You'll be in and out.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Fast, no hassle, no waiting, and they don't just care
- 17:36Speaker 3: about convenience. Camden Apothecary is all about the guest experience.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Their staff makes sure you feel taken care of every
- 17:45Speaker 3: time you walk in. Plus they carry only the best
- 17:48Speaker 3: quality cannabis at the fairest prices, so whether you're stocking
- 17:52Speaker 3: up for the tailgate, the watch party, or celebrating a
- 17:55Speaker 3: big win, you know you're getting the good stuff without overpaying.
- 18:00Speaker 3: They even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 18:04Speaker 3: service members, and healthcare pros. Can din Apothecary top quality cannabis,
- 18:10Speaker 3: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 18:13Speaker 3: one and up.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I'm sure you maybe expect you, maybe we're expecting Maximus
- 18:17Speaker 1: Pulley a Kapina gushikin. Those players are unproven until they
- 18:22Speaker 1: get into camp and then you have more information to
- 18:24Speaker 1: go off of. I'm picking Andre Sam because he's entering
- 18:28Speaker 1: his third year in the defense, his third year with
- 18:32Speaker 1: Vick Fangio, his third year working with Joe Casper. Now
- 18:37Speaker 1: Joe Casper was his position coach for two years now.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Joe Casper, of course is the defensive passing game coordinator,
- 18:44Speaker 1: but that familiarity there I think could yield some positive results.
- 18:49Speaker 1: You also factor in that Andre is a student of
- 18:53Speaker 1: the game. I mentioned Michael Carter in that way. Andre
- 18:56Speaker 1: is a student of the game who pushes himself in
- 18:58Speaker 1: different ways in practice, is challenging himself individually to keep
- 19:03Speaker 1: him motivated, keep that fire burning. He's a feisty player,
- 19:08Speaker 1: and the past two summers, really last summer, more so
- 19:12Speaker 1: than his rookie training camp, he made enough plays, especially
- 19:16Speaker 1: on special teams, that I was convinced that he was
- 19:20Speaker 1: going to make the Eagles fifty three man roster. That
- 19:22Speaker 1: eventually went to Tristan McCollum, who was then waived and
- 19:25Speaker 1: claimed by the Raiders, but Andre Sam was the better
- 19:28Speaker 1: special teams player. He's an older player though he's entering
- 19:33Speaker 1: his third season and he's twenty seven years old. So
- 19:35Speaker 1: do the Eagles view him as anything more than a
- 19:39Speaker 1: dependable practice squad player who they can elevate at the
- 19:42Speaker 1: drop of a hat to step in and you know
- 19:44Speaker 1: what you're going to get. Or do they view him
- 19:48Speaker 1: as we have a clear cut roll for this guy.
- 19:51Speaker 1: He can be a fourth safety and a special teamer.
- 19:53Speaker 1: This feels like it's the last run for Andre I'm
- 19:56Speaker 1: not one hundred percent on that, clearly. But if he
- 19:59Speaker 1: doesn't make the team, if you're Andre Sam, and you've
- 20:02Speaker 1: presumably done all that you can to convince the coaching
- 20:05Speaker 1: staff that you deserve a spot on the roster, would
- 20:08Speaker 1: you be more inclined to entertain other opportunities that maybe
- 20:13Speaker 1: when you get some fresh eyes on you in a
- 20:15Speaker 1: different perspective, all of a sudden you have a better
- 20:18Speaker 1: opportunity in front of you.
- 20:19Speaker 2: We'll have to see. But last year I.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Thought he did enough to earn a roster spot. He
- 20:26Speaker 1: played in a few games, including the postseason game. But
- 20:29Speaker 1: I look at his understanding of the defense, which should
- 20:32Speaker 1: lend itself to him playing faster and more free, and
- 20:37Speaker 1: the competitive nature that he has. He's been running largely
- 20:41Speaker 1: over the past couple of years as the second team safety,
- 20:44Speaker 1: so there's a trust and a familiarity there that I
- 20:48Speaker 1: don't think can be quantified. I like his intangibles, and
- 20:52Speaker 1: because of all that, I think he's going to make
- 20:55Speaker 1: some plays and you might hear his name a few.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Times this summer.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So those are just some random thoughts that I had
- 21:04Speaker 1: with training camp on the horizon. I feel strongly about
- 21:07Speaker 1: each of those, and I'm sure you all have your
- 21:11Speaker 1: own thoughts as well.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Would love to hear.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Them, and that's kind of where we have. That's kind
- 21:17Speaker 1: of where we're at right now. But for now, that's
- 21:19Speaker 1: going to do it. For this episode of The Checho Daily,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I'm Andrew Dicheco and I'll catch you all on the
- 21:25Speaker 1: next one.
