- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray Murry, you there.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to uh eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It was bo wow that Prime Time. Maybe I had
- 0:18Speaker 2: a crush on Betty Rubbell.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You're listening to Stu gottson Company, Well, hello, Mark cock Man.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Is that ste Gotts? It is really paying attention. It's
- 0:40Speaker 2: Stu Gotson Taylor. When did you guys get here?
- 0:43Speaker 1: You just happened to be sitting there in.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Front of you.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I start by morning with a little wordle and then
- 0:51Speaker 3: I hang out on this stream and see if anyone
- 0:53Speaker 3: shows up, just.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Waiting for people to talk to you. It's like being
- 1:00Speaker 2: in an AOL chat room.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I come in, I see if anyone's around, and I
- 1:05Speaker 3: get ready to creep.
- 1:06Speaker 2: On them if they do well.
- 1:09Speaker 1: There's big local news, and of course when there is
- 1:11Speaker 1: big local South Florida news, we need to bring in
- 1:14Speaker 1: the big gun.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I'm your guy have one name is Mark Hochman, Dock.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Six, Tony Sigretto, Hawkman, Crowder, and Solano every afternoon on
- 1:29Speaker 1: five sixty w q oie. He hates that I call
- 1:33Speaker 1: him Solano or Seleario. Does he hate that it's uh, yeah,
- 1:38Speaker 1: is name? So I can't demanding that he loves it.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But I think it's funny, okay, But he gets angry
- 1:43Speaker 1: right because he's got he go. Yeah, I mean, don't
- 1:46Speaker 1: we all, Well, yeah, we do. So we'll get to
- 1:54Speaker 1: the heat here in just a second. But Taylor, he
- 1:57Speaker 1: joined you on the stream that you're always waiting on
- 2:00Speaker 1: a bit earlier than I did, and so when I
- 2:02Speaker 1: came into the street, he was mocking you for saying
- 2:06Speaker 1: last time that you were on with us, which was Monday,
- 2:09Speaker 1: that the Marlins have given us something to talk about.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I won't move off that point of topic because we
- 2:18Speaker 3: are talking about them still now it's just an epic
- 2:21Speaker 3: losing streak instead of how great they.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Were doing at the end of May and throughout June.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Here is the thing, though, because what have they lost
- 2:30Speaker 3: eight in a row now after last night?
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, eight in row, which is not good by any metric.
- 2:38Speaker 3: But when you've won as many games as you did
- 2:41Speaker 3: over a five week period, you actually build up enough
- 2:45Speaker 3: of a cushion. Think about it, they lost eight games
- 2:48Speaker 3: in a row, there's still over five hundred. We're at
- 2:51Speaker 3: the end of July. There's still over five hundred. They're
- 2:53Speaker 3: still in the wildcard race. There's a couple of negatives. Obviously,
- 2:58Speaker 3: Max Meyer is on the I L. I think Idle
- 3:01Speaker 3: Lopez is out for a period of time as well,
- 3:04Speaker 3: maybe missing a couple of games.
- 3:06Speaker 2: So they do have some issues.
- 3:08Speaker 3: But that is the benefit of having gone on an
- 3:12Speaker 3: absolute tear is that you build up enough of a
- 3:15Speaker 3: cushion so when you do I mean, this is more
- 3:17Speaker 3: than a stumble.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I don't know what the.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Hell is going on with the Marlins, but they do
- 3:21Speaker 3: have enough of a cushion where it's not like they've
- 3:24Speaker 3: dropped off the face of the map or dropped off
- 3:26Speaker 3: the face of the wildcard race. So you know they
- 3:29Speaker 3: can get it turned around. I mean, they're still they're
- 3:32Speaker 3: still right there. Right most years, losing eighth straight would
- 3:35Speaker 3: be a death nil at this time of the of
- 3:38Speaker 3: the season, right, Sure, like at the end of July,
- 3:41Speaker 3: you're gonna you're gonna pop off eight losses in a row,
- 3:44Speaker 3: like generally, that's gonna end your season and force you
- 3:47Speaker 3: to be sellers. By the way, at the at the
- 3:49Speaker 3: trade deadline, they still might be buyers.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Right, just a half game out of the wildcard, as
- 3:54Speaker 1: you as you pointed out, so they have given us
- 3:56Speaker 1: something to talk about.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Taylor, there you go, Yes, no shaking his head. Deby.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I was just laughing at the fact that I'm so
- 4:07Speaker 4: used to the New York sports market where baseball is
- 4:10Speaker 4: going to carry you that market the entire year three
- 4:14Speaker 4: sixty five, that they could talk Yankees, they could talk Mets.
- 4:17Speaker 4: People are going to want to call in and talk
- 4:19Speaker 4: about those two teams. And the bar for the Marlins is, hey,
- 4:22Speaker 4: we're two games above five hundred. They're still in it
- 4:25Speaker 4: in July. They're giving us something to talk about it.
- 4:28Speaker 2: That's a lot though.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I mean, if you've experienced the history of the Florida
- 4:32Speaker 1: Marlins down here, being in it this late in the season,
- 4:35Speaker 1: losing eighth straight and still only being a half game
- 4:37Speaker 1: out of the wild guard, that means a lot.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Down here.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It's a different market. The expectations are different. We have
- 4:43Speaker 1: no expectations, you know.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Well, also you're seeing, you know, and we've always seen
- 4:48Speaker 3: the haves and the have nots in baseball, but I
- 4:50Speaker 3: think it's even more apparent nowadays when you look at
- 4:54Speaker 3: a Dodger's payroll or a Mets payroll and you look
- 4:57Speaker 3: at a Marlins payroll, Like, the disparity between them is
- 5:01Speaker 3: so great at this point. So when you do get
- 5:04Speaker 3: a team, we have Peter Bendix, who runs the Marlins, saying, Hey,
- 5:08Speaker 3: we're going to do this, and we're going to do
- 5:10Speaker 3: it the way that we can do it within our parameters,
- 5:13Speaker 3: and we're going to be able to feeld a competitive team.
- 5:15Speaker 2: And he actually does it.
- 5:17Speaker 3: You know, you sit through a couple of seasons, you're like, yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 3: I'm not really buying what you're selling us, and then
- 5:21Speaker 3: all of a sudden it comes to fruition. It is
- 5:23Speaker 3: kind of exciting, But to Taylor's point, it's very different
- 5:28Speaker 3: than the New York or Boston or Philadelphia or Saint
- 5:32Speaker 3: Louis markets, where they literally can talk about a pitching
- 5:36Speaker 3: change yep for four hours on a ship and will
- 5:41Speaker 3: so and so instead of so and so. You can't
- 5:43Speaker 3: do that in the Miami market. The only thing you
- 5:46Speaker 3: can talk about is if your starting pitcher gets pulled
- 5:50Speaker 3: during a perfect game beyond the seventh inning. That's like
- 5:54Speaker 3: the only time you can talk nuts and bolts of
- 5:57Speaker 3: pitching is should the pitcher have been pulled during a
- 6:02Speaker 3: perfect game after having thrown only ninety two pitches? And
- 6:05Speaker 3: I remind you, do you remember on the Levatard Show
- 6:08Speaker 3: we did a Louis ti on movie screening?
- 6:11Speaker 2: How could I forget? Yeah? Of course I sat right
- 6:13Speaker 2: next to Louis.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Yeah, used to pitch four hundred pitches a game on
- 6:18Speaker 3: two days rest.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yes, you're right, to great Louis Tians.
- 6:28Speaker 1: While smoking a cigarette, and he would do it again
- 6:31Speaker 1: the next day if he were asked, say yes, huck.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Some people are suggesting that the decision to pull Yuri Perez. Now,
- 6:38Speaker 4: the Marlins did sweep the next series, but they're suggesting
- 6:41Speaker 4: that this eight game losing streak is the baseball gods
- 6:45Speaker 4: taking it back on a little bit of revenge on
- 6:47Speaker 4: the Marlins.
- 6:48Speaker 3: I will tell you I said this to my wife
- 6:51Speaker 3: like three nights ago, because I had used that when
- 6:53Speaker 3: they had lost like five in a row. IM like, oh,
- 6:55Speaker 3: the baseball gods are punishing them, And she said, have
- 6:57Speaker 3: they not won a game? Since they pulled Yuri and
- 7:00Speaker 3: I'm like, no, actually they kept winning. But I said,
- 7:03Speaker 3: the baseball gods will never smile on you when you
- 7:08Speaker 3: pull a pitcher in the middle of a perfect game
- 7:12Speaker 3: at only ninety two pitches. The baseball gods, in some way,
- 7:17Speaker 3: shape or form will not reward that. So is this
- 7:21Speaker 3: a little late reminder from the baseball gods? Hey, we
- 7:26Speaker 3: didn't forget. We saw what happened. Very possible.
- 7:30Speaker 4: And can I tell you what my real problem with
- 7:31Speaker 4: this Marlins team is, because it hasn't really nothing to
- 7:34Speaker 4: do with the Marlins. I actually enjoy the Marlins. I
- 7:36Speaker 4: think there are uniforms, the throwback uniforms are the best
- 7:39Speaker 4: jerseys in base right, And even though they beat the
- 7:42Speaker 4: Yankees in the two thousand and three Worlds. Here is
- 7:44Speaker 4: I have no ill will against the Marlins.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Well you did at the time, but.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Not really that that was a pretty like scrappy team. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:53Speaker 4: I did like that team. Miguel Cabrera, Mike Lowell, it
- 7:56Speaker 4: was a lot of It was a lot of likable guys.
- 7:58Speaker 4: My problem with the Marlins from the fact that Mike
- 8:02Speaker 4: Ryan knew I was a baseball fan. Mike Ryan came
- 8:05Speaker 4: up to me and said, Hey, would you like to
- 8:07Speaker 4: be added to our baseball chat. There's a bunch of
- 8:09Speaker 4: baseball fans in there and we just talked baseball. And
- 8:12Speaker 4: I was like, Okay, doesn't sound like it's the worst thing.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Mike Rian adds me to this chat.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I will say, if I can just interject, that does
- 8:20Speaker 3: sound like the worst thing?
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yes, like the worst thing imaginable. I mean you only
- 8:28Speaker 2: said yes because you felt like you had to at
- 8:30Speaker 2: the time.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I literally can't think of a worse thread.
- 8:33Speaker 4: So I'm imagining a chat with It's like Tim Kirchin.
- 8:37Speaker 4: It's the Mike Sures of the world, where we're throwing
- 8:39Speaker 4: out baseball stats to each O. Yes, yeah, Carl Ravage.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Here comes Carl Ravage to talk a little baseball ad
- 8:48Speaker 4: Nan verk Maybe yeah, I get added to this chat.
- 8:53Speaker 4: It's only Marlins fans and they're only talking about Marlins games.
- 8:57Speaker 4: I'm like, hey, guys, when are we going to start
- 8:59Speaker 4: talking about other teams and MLB? And they were like, no,
- 9:01Speaker 4: this is this is basically just the Marlins chat. I
- 9:04Speaker 4: don't know why Mike chat. Yes, yes, so it got satter. Yes,
- 9:10Speaker 4: it's the Kyle Sea Lofts it's the Billy Gills, It's
- 9:13Speaker 4: the Josh.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I gotta know who's in this chat.
- 9:16Speaker 4: So I don't have a lot of these numbers saved.
- 9:19Speaker 4: The numbers I do have saved, they are like Kyle
- 9:20Speaker 4: Sea Loft, Jeremy tash A, Joshappell, Billy Gill, Chris Coch.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I mean, it's essentially people who write Marlin's promotional releases.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Propaganda, Yes, you are, you are.
- 9:35Speaker 2: You are in the march, everyone except chat.
- 9:39Speaker 4: And my only contribution to this chat now because of
- 9:42Speaker 4: how much Marlin's propaganda it is, is anytime Jazz Chisholm
- 9:46Speaker 4: does something, well, I just make sure that they're aware
- 9:49Speaker 4: of it.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Have you tried to bring up the Yankees and the
- 9:53Speaker 2: Marlins chat? Have you no? Because it gets zero traction, right,
- 9:58Speaker 2: so you never even tried one.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's the last time Billy has made any sort of
- 10:01Speaker 1: contribution to this chat.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Do you know the decision of poll Yari Perez from
- 10:06Speaker 4: The Perfect Game, because that was.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Like on social media.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that was like a civil war between Marlins fans,
- 10:11Speaker 4: people saying they should have pulled them, people saying they
- 10:14Speaker 4: shouldn't have pulled them, And it was a lot of
- 10:17Speaker 4: back and forth. That was the last time I think
- 10:18Speaker 4: Billy Gill added anything.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So I think what made that topic so interesting Hawk
- 10:21Speaker 1: wasn't that it was nuts and bolts about the Marlins.
- 10:23Speaker 1: It was a more general conversation about do you leave
- 10:26Speaker 1: a picture in?
- 10:26Speaker 2: It brought in all fans.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Do you leave a picture in if he's got a
- 10:29Speaker 1: perfect game going through seven innings?
- 10:31Speaker 3: You know, And by the way, it's so crazy to
- 10:34Speaker 3: me that there's an opinion on that, because there's no opinion.
- 10:37Speaker 3: There's one right decision, and to leave him in the game. Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 3: And you know, if it was a no hitter, I'm
- 10:45Speaker 3: okay with pulling them because he's coming off the injured,
- 10:48Speaker 3: it's coming off surgery. If it's a no hitter, there's
- 10:51Speaker 3: been how many twenty four, twenty five perfect games in
- 10:54Speaker 3: the history of the game, Like, you don't steal that
- 10:57Speaker 3: from a guy. He's never going to have that opportunity again.
- 11:02Speaker 3: We had I can't remember if it was Sea Love
- 11:06Speaker 3: or Jack McMullen or Steven Strom some of the radio
- 11:10Speaker 3: voices on with us a few days later, Rod Allen maybe,
- 11:13Speaker 3: And I said, I can say to you confidently, Yuri
- 11:17Speaker 3: Perez as good a picture as he is. He'll never
- 11:20Speaker 3: be in that situation again. People don't throw perfect games
- 11:22Speaker 3: into the seventh. It doesn't happen. And oh, they're you know,
- 11:26Speaker 3: they're they're like, oh, you know, he's such a good
- 11:29Speaker 3: pitcher and he's going to have other opportunities to And
- 11:31Speaker 3: I'm like, no, he's not. He's not gonna have a
- 11:34Speaker 3: perfect game going into the seventh or going into the eighth.
- 11:37Speaker 3: I think it was three to seven, Yes, he was
- 11:39Speaker 3: six outs all, a perfect.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Game going into the eighth. Ever, again in his.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Career, no, Clayton mcculluugh stole it from him.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's different.
- 11:49Speaker 1: You know, No hitters are more common than ever now
- 11:52Speaker 1: in Major League Baseball.
- 11:54Speaker 2: A perfect game is special. It is a rare special thing.
- 11:57Speaker 1: There will been twenty four, by the way, throwing him
- 12:00Speaker 1: major League Baseball history. The Marlins, though, was not the
- 12:02Speaker 1: big news I was talking about and why we had
- 12:05Speaker 1: to bring on Hawk today.
- 12:06Speaker 2: He was put me in that chat though, Taylor, you
- 12:11Speaker 2: want to be added to it. I want you to
- 12:13Speaker 2: add me to that chat, and then.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I'm going to immediately remove myself before one TI.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Okay, I'll do that.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Taylor put it on the poll at stick got seven
- 12:23Speaker 1: one on ax a Marlins group chat.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Heaven or hell. If that gets one, Heaven vote for Mike.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Mike left.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Mike left the group chat because he was tired of you.
- 12:39Speaker 4: I'm Billy, I was tired of the Marlins talk.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Taylor, go ahead and set up Hawk and I will
- 12:49Speaker 1: talk about in a second what happened with the Heat
- 12:51Speaker 1: last night. Lebron James is still waiting around to make
- 12:54Speaker 1: his decision.
- 12:55Speaker 2: In the Heat, who.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Usually do everything correctly, unlike the Marlins. Uh, they botched
- 12:59Speaker 1: this one up?
- 13:00Speaker 2: Happen here?
- 13:01Speaker 4: So the Miami Heat posted a Lebron James introductory press
- 13:05Speaker 4: conference YouTube video, and it was scheduled for next Monday,
- 13:10Speaker 4: July twenty seventh. They said they posted by a mistake
- 13:14Speaker 4: because a Heat spokesperson told Chums that the club social
- 13:18Speaker 4: media department was preparing for the possibility of James signing
- 13:23Speaker 4: and mistakenly posted a link to the team's YouTube page,
- 13:26Speaker 4: and they have since deleted the post.
- 13:29Speaker 2: So, Hawk, you're a big shop in South Florida.
- 13:33Speaker 1: You have boots on the ground, you know everyone, You
- 13:35Speaker 1: got your you know you got your sources here.
- 13:38Speaker 2: What are you hearing on this front?
- 13:41Speaker 3: This is my take this is based on no sources number,
- 13:46Speaker 3: no source Insider. Wasn't that yours insider dot com? We
- 13:51Speaker 3: would make reports based on no information, just my gut.
- 13:54Speaker 3: We actually had a dinner to discuss how to expand
- 13:57Speaker 3: the empire? Are you aware this tailor? Because he's had
- 14:01Speaker 3: some other inventions along the way.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Was the Slow Report yours? Or is that Chris Cody's.
- 14:07Speaker 1: That's Chris Cody's The slow Report where you just say
- 14:10Speaker 1: it real slow.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Well, it was just you get the news out like
- 14:13Speaker 3: eight weeks after everyone else has released the news, So
- 14:16Speaker 3: like three weeks from now, slow report will tweet out
- 14:20Speaker 3: that Uri Perez was pulled after seven perfect innings. Like
- 14:23Speaker 3: that was the idea behind the Slow Report. But Stugotts
- 14:26Speaker 3: created a website called No Source Insider dot com. This
- 14:31Speaker 3: was before social media where everyone was just parroting real
- 14:36Speaker 3: reporters and now the day the days where you can,
- 14:39Speaker 3: you know, get a blue check mark as long as
- 14:41Speaker 3: you pay elon his money, like you can have a
- 14:44Speaker 3: sham's looking account and have a blue check mark. Stugott's
- 14:48Speaker 3: was ahead of the curve. Yeah, he created a website
- 14:51Speaker 3: called No Source Insider where he would kind of report
- 14:56Speaker 3: stuff based.
- 14:57Speaker 2: On no sources.
- 14:57Speaker 1: It was really just what was going on in his gut. Yes,
- 15:00Speaker 1: gotten common sense, a bit of common sense, a.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Bit of common sense, so he would report based on
- 15:06Speaker 3: no sources. Lebron James is coming to Miami. It'll be
- 15:09Speaker 3: announced next week, kind of like what Chris Cody did
- 15:11Speaker 3: earlier this week.
- 15:12Speaker 2: But he had I remember this.
- 15:15Speaker 3: There were meetings on how to expand this and generate
- 15:20Speaker 3: revenue off no source insider dot com.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yes, it was a great dinner at Anthony's Anthony's Wings
- 15:28Speaker 1: and Pizza.
- 15:29Speaker 2: There were twenty two people there.
- 15:31Speaker 1: It costs me over five hundred dollars, and I realized
- 15:34Speaker 1: about halfway through that everyone was there just for the
- 15:37Speaker 1: free meal, because those wings are delicious, Especially Roy contributed
- 15:41Speaker 1: nothing to the meeting.
- 15:45Speaker 2: That great.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Well, this is based on no sources. I believe two
- 15:51Speaker 3: things happened. First of all, teams, organizations, writers do prepare
- 15:58Speaker 3: for eventualities in case something happens that There has been
- 16:04Speaker 3: some scuttle butt about they've got the article ready to go.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Ira Wnderman is a friend of mine. He has articles
- 16:11Speaker 3: pre written. They need to be tweaked. But he's told
- 16:14Speaker 3: us this on the show. They are pre written. Lebron
- 16:18Speaker 3: has returned to the Heat. Lebron has returned to the calves.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Lebron has shocked everyone and gone to Golden State or Minnesota.
- 16:26Speaker 3: He's got those articles written and ready to go.
- 16:30Speaker 1: You're saying he's written each one and he already has
- 16:32Speaker 1: them done now right now.
- 16:34Speaker 3: In fact, Ira told us, and I think this would
- 16:37Speaker 3: be such a great seller. He told us a couple
- 16:39Speaker 3: of weeks ago on the show. He could write a
- 16:42Speaker 3: book on all the articles he's written over the last
- 16:46Speaker 3: thirty eight years of covering the Heat. He has covered
- 16:49Speaker 3: the Heat for thirty eight years.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, he could.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Write a book on all the articles that have been
- 16:54Speaker 3: written that never came to fruition.
- 16:56Speaker 2: He should, because it's like.
- 16:58Speaker 3: An alternate universe. The alternate universe. He's got an article
- 17:04Speaker 3: where Lebron, Wade and Bosh went to play in Chicago.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Not Miami.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Wow, he's got an article where they whiffed on I
- 17:13Speaker 3: don't know Shack and you know what I mean. He's
- 17:16Speaker 3: got this running narrative of an alternate sports universe for
- 17:23Speaker 3: the Miami Heat over thirty eight seasons.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yes, I love that. He should absolutely make a book.
- 17:29Speaker 1: What is he doing what's he thinking? So, I mean
- 17:32Speaker 1: I'll co author it with him. Yeah, I mean you're
- 17:35Speaker 1: a best selling author.
- 17:36Speaker 2: No, yes, I put my name on it and boom.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Do you have any chet groups going with other authors
- 17:41Speaker 3: where you just chop it up about books and writing?
- 17:45Speaker 2: Of course I did you put me in on that
- 17:47Speaker 2: one too.
- 17:48Speaker 1: If I could name another author, I would tell you
- 17:51Speaker 1: who's in it.
- 17:52Speaker 2: It's maeonigat Stupatts. Again, I was thinking.
- 17:57Speaker 3: But anyway, I think two things are in place here.
- 18:00Speaker 3: First of all, I do think teams and certainly good
- 18:03Speaker 3: franchises like The Heat, prepare for eventualities so that they
- 18:08Speaker 3: don't get caught flat footed. And I think there is
- 18:10Speaker 3: a real chance this isn't a secret. There's a real
- 18:13Speaker 3: chance Lebron comes to the Heat. There's probably two teams
- 18:18Speaker 3: the Heat in Cleveland that are the front runners. We
- 18:20Speaker 3: had Mike Wallace, you remember old writer Mike Wallace. He
- 18:24Speaker 3: was on with us yesterday and he made a really
- 18:25Speaker 3: compelling case for Golden State. But there's like two teams
- 18:29Speaker 3: that you think really might happen, and maybe two others
- 18:32Speaker 3: that possibly could Golden State and Philly. But those teams,
- 18:36Speaker 3: if they're worth their salt, are probably preparing for the eventuality,
- 18:41Speaker 3: having meetings like, Hey, if this does happen, how are
- 18:44Speaker 3: we going to approach it?
- 18:45Speaker 2: Right?
- 18:45Speaker 3: You would imagine pat Riley and Michael McCullough and everyone
- 18:49Speaker 3: involved with the Heat brain Trust are thinking to themselves,
- 18:52Speaker 3: if he does come, are we going to do something
- 18:55Speaker 3: similar to what we did when he came here the
- 18:57Speaker 3: first time, which was derided a little bit? Are we
- 19:00Speaker 3: going to do something more low key?
- 19:01Speaker 2: You know? So they have those meeting now.
- 19:05Speaker 3: The notion that you would have to create though a
- 19:09Speaker 3: live stream page on YouTube a week in advance strikes
- 19:15Speaker 3: me as odd because, Taylor, you know, how long would
- 19:19Speaker 3: it take to create a link for a live YouTube broadcast.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Very quick turnaround.
- 19:25Speaker 3: It's not something that you have to do a week
- 19:27Speaker 3: in advance, right, So that part I find weird. The
- 19:31Speaker 3: second part that I find weird is why would if
- 19:35Speaker 3: you thought it was really happening, why would you bring
- 19:39Speaker 3: a web services person into the mix on that one?
- 19:44Speaker 3: There's too many ways that that can get caught. That
- 19:47Speaker 3: can probably, I'm guessing, get caught on the back end
- 19:51Speaker 3: by a YouTube employee who has access to back end
- 19:54Speaker 3: stuff that looks through and sees what's being posted. You know,
- 19:58Speaker 3: they get contacted I'm sure by NBA insider saying hey,
- 20:02Speaker 3: can you look on the back end of the Calves
- 20:06Speaker 3: he the you know, it's the way TMZ gets information.
- 20:09Speaker 3: These NBA insiders get information. So I don't know why
- 20:13Speaker 3: you would risk it. It seems silly to me this,
- 20:16Speaker 3: but that's beyond the point. This is what I genuinely
- 20:19Speaker 3: believe happened. I believe Lebron's camp, Rich Paul at all
- 20:26Speaker 3: contacted say four or five teams, the Heat, the Calves,
- 20:31Speaker 3: the Sixers, Warriors, the Timberwolves. Let's just say, for the
- 20:35Speaker 3: sake of arguments purposes, five teams. And they said, listen,
- 20:40Speaker 3: we're not going to drag this out forever. The decision
- 20:44Speaker 3: will come at some point next week, maybe anywhere from
- 20:48Speaker 3: Sunday night to Wednesday next week. We just want to
- 20:53Speaker 3: give your heads up. We're not telling you where he's going,
- 20:55Speaker 3: because he hasn't decided yet, but we're just telling you
- 20:59Speaker 3: just so that you can prepare internally. It'll maybe be
- 21:02Speaker 3: Sunday night or Monday morning. And so then the Heat
- 21:05Speaker 3: they get on the phone with some of their people
- 21:07Speaker 3: and they go listen, don't know if it's us or not.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Let's get ready for a Sunday night announcement, which would
- 21:13Speaker 3: mean a Monday press conference, because I think there could
- 21:18Speaker 3: be an announcement this Sunday night that would make sense
- 21:21Speaker 3: do a live Rich Paul podcast with Max Kellerman. There's
- 21:24Speaker 3: nothing going on this Sunday night. They announced it Sunday night,
- 21:28Speaker 3: and then Monday the news machine from ESPN on is
- 21:33Speaker 3: churning it out and teams are getting ready to have
- 21:36Speaker 3: a press conference for whenever Lebron would want to. That's
- 21:39Speaker 3: just my gut is that they told several teams in
- 21:44Speaker 3: the mix, Hey, probably happens the decision. We announced it
- 21:48Speaker 3: maybe Sunday night, and then next week we you know,
- 21:52Speaker 3: put the plan into action.
- 21:55Speaker 1: But if you're right, there were other teams who were
- 21:57Speaker 1: informed of the same thing. They didn't try working out
- 22:00Speaker 1: the kinks, you know what I'm saying.
- 22:01Speaker 3: It's just a press I say, it's like, it's such
- 22:03Speaker 3: a silly move to create a link at this point
- 22:06Speaker 3: because you literally could create a link five minutes before
- 22:09Speaker 3: you go live. So I don't know why the heat
- 22:12Speaker 3: decided to do that last night.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I just don't believe that Lebron has told the Heat.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I'm coming there with one hundred percent certainty, and we're
- 22:22Speaker 3: going to announce it with a press conference on Monday.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I just don't know why they would sit on this
- 22:28Speaker 3: information for the rest of this week and have that
- 22:31Speaker 3: date picked out for some reason. I just you know,
- 22:35Speaker 3: Rich Paul was so adamant he was on with McAfee yesterday,
- 22:38Speaker 3: and I believe him. I mean, he was adamant that
- 22:40Speaker 3: he has set the table for Lebron, given him all
- 22:42Speaker 3: the information that's out there, and that Lebron needs to
- 22:45Speaker 3: make a decision and he hasn't made the decision yet,
- 22:47Speaker 3: And I just I don't know why they would drag
- 22:49Speaker 3: it out and pretend like they haven't made a decision
- 22:53Speaker 3: if they are one hundred percent certain he's going to
- 22:56Speaker 3: the Heat.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Interesting that you believe the agent. That's funny. I mean,
- 23:00Speaker 1: I don't believe that comes.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Out of Rich Paul's mouth.
- 23:03Speaker 3: So I didn't for a while until I watched him
- 23:05Speaker 3: yesterday with McAfee.
- 23:07Speaker 2: And he came off genuine. Sincere came off genuine to me,
- 23:11Speaker 2: it just seemed like he's a salesman. Though that's true.
- 23:14Speaker 3: That's true, but I don't know what the benefit is
- 23:17Speaker 3: to sitting on it for this long hack.
- 23:20Speaker 4: If I could draw a parallel to the North Carolina
- 23:23Speaker 4: coaching search, Michael Malone was always interviewing for the job,
- 23:27Speaker 4: but he told North Carolina, if my name even gets
- 23:30Speaker 4: leaked that I'm interviewing for this job, I'm out. If
- 23:34Speaker 4: there's a situation where Lebron has told the Heat I'm coming,
- 23:37Speaker 4: He's given them some kind of assurance, but if it
- 23:40Speaker 4: comes out, I'm out. Could you see that scenario, because
- 23:43Speaker 4: I know I kind of.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Like that way. If that happened, someone's been fired. Yes,
- 23:47Speaker 2: I saw.
- 23:48Speaker 3: People opining on that last night when this started to
- 23:51Speaker 3: percolate on social media. That to me is the dumbest
- 23:55Speaker 3: thing that I've ever heard. Could you imagine Lebron taking
- 23:59Speaker 3: all this time to make a decision that's right for
- 24:02Speaker 3: him and his family and then saying, oh, you guys
- 24:04Speaker 3: mistakenly posted a YouTube link.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I'm out. I'm going to Minnesota. You can't be trus me.
- 24:10Speaker 2: That's the dumbest scenario.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Now, I do believe that Dolphins fans and media scared
- 24:18Speaker 3: Peyton Manning from coming to the Dolphins because we chased
- 24:21Speaker 3: him with helicas. Yes, but that's a whole other story.
- 24:26Speaker 3: This is different to me. This is such an innocuous
- 24:29Speaker 3: mistake if that's what it was like, if they really
- 24:32Speaker 3: knew and and this mistake was made, it's so innocuous.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Peyton Manning, I don't even know if you were in
- 24:37Speaker 3: this market when that happened. But we were live on
- 24:39Speaker 3: the air on the LeBatard Show, and Peyton Manning landed
- 24:42Speaker 3: at Opa Laca Airport and we thought it was to
- 24:45Speaker 3: sign with the Dolphins, and we were on the air, remember,
- 24:48Speaker 3: and I remember it's happening, and we've got reports from
- 24:51Speaker 3: people who are driving past Opa Laca Airport and payment
- 24:55Speaker 3: down there. Yes, Sadana went down there, and Peyton Manning
- 24:59Speaker 3: was just in town for like a charity event or something,
- 25:02Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, WSVN seven and CBS four
- 25:05Speaker 3: they launched their choppers.
- 25:07Speaker 2: This is no joke.
- 25:09Speaker 3: There's live coverage at three point thirty in the afternoon
- 25:14Speaker 3: on WSVN of Peyton Manning's car on ninety five as
- 25:19Speaker 3: if it was a police chase. And it's live news
- 25:23Speaker 3: choppers facing Peyton Manning's car from Opa Laca private Airport
- 25:29Speaker 3: throughout South Florida because we think he's signing with the Dolphins. Yes,
- 25:33Speaker 3: I believe if they had a chance to sign him,
- 25:36Speaker 3: they killed it at that moment. And the Dolphins didn't
- 25:39Speaker 3: do anything wrong. It was us and the rest of
- 25:41Speaker 3: the media just jumping all over this story. And I
- 25:43Speaker 3: think we scared the shit out of Peyton Manning.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I know we did.
- 25:47Speaker 1: A very underrated, underreported part of that Storytailer, is that
- 25:50Speaker 1: Peyton Manning was so spooped up by Miami he just
- 25:53Speaker 1: kept driving that car to Denver.
- 25:58Speaker 3: It was the most circuit it is route to Denver
- 26:01Speaker 3: ever taken by a driver.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I think Lebron enjoys it being out there. I don't
- 26:08Speaker 1: think he cares this time around. I think he's fine.
- 26:10Speaker 1: It was leaked. It doesn't matter. Perhaps he hasn't made
- 26:13Speaker 1: his decision. Maybe he has, but it just adds to
- 26:15Speaker 1: the mystery. And I was discussing Lebron James and we
- 26:19Speaker 1: know that he likes that.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Of course.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I mean, it's remarkable that he can still captivate the
- 26:23Speaker 3: NBA audience in twenty twenty six, crazy the way that
- 26:28Speaker 3: he did twenty five years ago or whatever.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Like, It's not only that he can impact not only
- 26:33Speaker 1: the NBA audience, he can impact winning the idea that
- 26:36Speaker 1: he wants to play in a league minimum when he's
- 26:38Speaker 1: coming off twenty one, six and five, he could still
- 26:41Speaker 1: impact winning a title.
- 26:42Speaker 2: That's the amazing thing.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Because you and I we've experienced you know, Shack in
- 26:48Speaker 3: a Sun's uniform and Patrick Ewing, Where did Patrick Ewing
- 26:54Speaker 3: play at the very.
- 26:55Speaker 2: End Seattle Seattle game.
- 26:59Speaker 3: We've seen guys around, yeah, tail ends of their career
- 27:03Speaker 3: where they're just not effective, Like it's almost embarrassing to
- 27:06Speaker 3: watch them. Emmitt Smith in Arizona, it's almost embarrassing to
- 27:10Speaker 3: watch them. And Lebron. Ain't that Lebron impacts winning at
- 27:17Speaker 3: this stage in his life?
- 27:18Speaker 2: Crazy crazy?
- 27:20Speaker 1: Yes, you Wing, Yeah, it was sad to watch. He
- 27:23Speaker 1: averaged I think five and a half points a.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Game that year. I mean, I mean it's just sad. Yeah.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Uh, before we get out of here, do you feel
- 27:34Speaker 1: vindicated at all because you were ahead of the curve
- 27:37Speaker 1: on this one? On your Will Farrell take that he
- 27:39Speaker 1: has jumped the short Yeah, I.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Mean people are starting to realize it. Right after the
- 27:43Speaker 3: home run derby now all over the show Hawk on
- 27:48Speaker 3: h on Netflix. He's one trick pony. You know a
- 27:55Speaker 3: couple of friends of mine, Chris Whittingham, Josh Bell had
- 27:58Speaker 3: texted me because they know how I feel about Will Ferrell,
- 28:00Speaker 3: but I always couch it with this Will Will Ferrell
- 28:04Speaker 3: Rushmore of SNL Sketch, you know, cast members.
- 28:09Speaker 2: He's one of the funniest guys I've ever seen in
- 28:12Speaker 2: my life, no doubt. But they had texted me.
- 28:17Speaker 3: The Hawk is his golf show on Netflix, and they're like, hak,
- 28:21Speaker 3: this is the show that would be playing on every
- 28:24Speaker 3: screen in Hell if you went to Hell. And I said,
- 28:28Speaker 3: I haven't seen it, but let me guess. His character
- 28:31Speaker 3: is absurd. He says absurd things, he makes absurd decisions,
- 28:37Speaker 3: and he probably acts a little bit younger in age
- 28:40Speaker 3: than his actual chronological age.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I mean, it's the same thing he does.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I have been in so many arguments with Channing Crowder
- 28:50Speaker 3: and Solana and myriad radio hosts who are younger than me,
- 28:56Speaker 3: who will tell me up and down how funny Step Brothers.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Is, and I it's not funny. The movie's not funny.
- 29:05Speaker 3: He's trying to make you laugh by pretending to be
- 29:09Speaker 3: a dumb child in the body of a forty five
- 29:12Speaker 3: year old man. He does that in every movie now
- 29:16Speaker 3: and so I'm just kind of I love him. I
- 29:19Speaker 3: would love nothing more than to have a beer with
- 29:22Speaker 3: Will Ferrell, an avocado toast with Will Ferrell.
- 29:27Speaker 2: But his stuff right now is shit. It is yeah, huck.
- 29:33Speaker 4: So I'm in the camp that I do think the
- 29:35Speaker 4: Will Ferrell movies at one point were incredible. I'm gonna
- 29:39Speaker 4: defend Will Ferrell there. The moment he jumped the shark
- 29:43Speaker 4: for me was when he was D'Angelo Vickers in the office.
- 29:47Speaker 4: And I just found this Reddit thread. It has a
- 29:51Speaker 4: ton of up votes and they're talking about D'Angel Vickers
- 29:56Speaker 4: juggling with no balls still gets me. It's one of
- 29:59Speaker 4: the greatest scenes. What do you think about that story?
- 30:01Speaker 3: It's literally and I know you're just trying to push
- 30:04Speaker 3: my buttons. Di Angelo Vickers Invisible Juggling is one.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Of, if not the.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Dumbest premise and scene in the history of television. And
- 30:19Speaker 3: that is coming from the best series in the history
- 30:24Speaker 3: and television of television. Can you imagine having the greatest
- 30:29Speaker 3: comedy series in the history of television and also having
- 30:35Speaker 3: the worst, most unfunny scene in the history of television
- 30:40Speaker 3: And it's the same show, DiAngelo Vickers and I don't
- 30:43Speaker 3: know how long he was on the Office, maybe four episodes.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Almost ruined the greatest television show in history. It was
- 30:53Speaker 3: saved because of James Spader and Robert California.
- 30:57Speaker 2: He came in and he saved the show.
- 30:59Speaker 3: But Angelo Vickers, and I know, you could see the
- 31:02Speaker 3: disdain on the actors' faces when they're doing these scenes
- 31:05Speaker 3: with him, when Jim and Pam and dwy when they
- 31:10Speaker 3: have to laugh like he's being really funny. You know,
- 31:14Speaker 3: they had an office like an office con come to Miami,
- 31:19Speaker 3: and some of the actors appeared, and they wanted to
- 31:21Speaker 3: come on the radio show and promote it. So I
- 31:23Speaker 3: got to do interviews with Creed, whose real name is
- 31:26Speaker 3: Creed of course, the guy who played David Wallace, who
- 31:31Speaker 3: was ended up buying the company at the end, David Wallace.
- 31:35Speaker 3: And who was the third person we interviewed, It was.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Creed David Wallace.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Man, I'm drawing a blank on the third person that
- 31:46Speaker 3: we had on. But I asked all of them, did
- 31:49Speaker 3: you really think the di' angelo Vickers story arc was funny?
- 31:52Speaker 3: Did you think it was worthy of the Office? And
- 31:56Speaker 3: none of them would answer in the although you know
- 31:59Speaker 3: what I think the I think Creed's answer made People magazine.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Someone send it to me. I think Creed was kind
- 32:09Speaker 3: of in agreement with me. I have to see if
- 32:11Speaker 3: I can find that. But Creed, I know what's going
- 32:15Speaker 3: to come up is like Creed the Band.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Of course it is Apollo.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Creed is Creed from the Office on the Mount rushmore
- 32:24Speaker 3: of Creeds.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I mean, I'm struggling to come up with a fourth.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it says here the Office actor and Musicians on
- 32:34Speaker 3: AI The Office actor and musician. Creed Bratton previously made
- 32:38Speaker 3: a guest appearance on Miami's one O four point three
- 32:40Speaker 3: w QAM during a local event. Yeah, but what did
- 32:44Speaker 3: he say?
- 32:44Speaker 2: That was newsworthy.
- 32:48Speaker 3: I don't know it made People magazine because people sent
- 32:50Speaker 3: that to me.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Meredith, that was the other one.
- 32:52Speaker 3: I think you had, Meredith, Yes, Meredith was the other one. Yeah,
- 32:56Speaker 3: because we connected. She's got a house on the on
- 32:58Speaker 3: the Jersey Shore and I go to Jersey Shore every summer.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Connection points we really connected. I forgot who it was.
- 33:06Speaker 1: I asked all the authors in my author group text
- 33:09Speaker 1: Chat if they think Will Farrell has jumped the shark.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Stephen King has not responded.
- 33:16Speaker 1: James Patterson has not responded, but Harlan Corbin did, and
- 33:20Speaker 1: he agrees he has jumped the shark.
