- 0:09Speaker 2: The World's original podcast.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Good news, everybody.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Drake May's back.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Drake May's back, Drake May's back, Have no fear.
- 0:25Speaker 2: We got our quarterback. Don't worry about it.
- 0:28Speaker 5: Even Rusty, you can tell how smooth he is.
- 0:31Speaker 6: Just Mike was like, so that's what it's happening. I
- 0:35Speaker 6: gave you a half hour of you know, all the
- 0:37Speaker 6: things that were great. I would agree with that. The
- 0:40Speaker 6: best stuffn there's Paul.
- 0:41Speaker 7: I do have a bone to pick with Evan off
- 0:44Speaker 7: about Kendrick Bourne Christian.
- 0:46Speaker 8: When did I talk about Kendrick Bourne like it was Randy
- 0:48Speaker 8: Mo even't won't shut up a libout Kenneth forrn.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Yeah, Evan, you'd be honest.
- 0:52Speaker 7: Every time we talk about Kendrick Bourne, who's the only
- 0:54Speaker 7: one that.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Defended defending Evan?
- 0:56Speaker 5: Are you trolling?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Evan? Stop?
- 1:00Speaker 7: Everything was Kendrick Bourne comes up? So you are primarily the
- 1:03Speaker 7: only one to bending him.
- 1:04Speaker 8: I mean, I had a nice practice last week, but
- 1:07Speaker 8: I was just evaluating practice.
- 1:09Speaker 3: I don't know I'm gonna do some yardwork too wack.
- 1:17Speaker 4: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:21Speaker 5: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:25Speaker 9: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:30Speaker 9: at Gillette Stadium. It's summer has finally come.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:33Speaker 2: He's gonna be like eighty eight degrees here.
- 1:36Speaker 9: In Foxboro today, beautiful, nice and monkeys scorch you.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Yeah, the guys are walking off to practice. It felt
- 1:42Speaker 5: like training camp so high. I just feel his heat
- 1:44Speaker 5: coming into this.
- 1:45Speaker 3: You just want to be outside, not yet, I don't.
- 1:48Speaker 3: You just want to I want to be out there
- 1:51Speaker 3: side right.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe next week we'll do that.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Can't wait.
- 1:54Speaker 9: All right, it's Paul Evan, Alex Deuce, Matt in the
- 1:59Speaker 9: booth talking Patriots for the next two hours and whatever
- 2:02Speaker 9: else comes up.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I'm sure. Yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 9: So the team's still practicing. We haven't seen a practice
- 2:08Speaker 9: since Monday. But next week is a big week because
- 2:12Speaker 9: it's mandatory mini camp and we'll be out there on Monday,
- 2:15Speaker 9: Tuesday and Wednesday as long as they have practice doing
- 2:19Speaker 9: our live shows, uh, starting probably around eleven thirty on
- 2:24Speaker 9: both more, you know, on Monday and Tuesday, Rabel will
- 2:29Speaker 9: do his press conference. We'll cover that live and then
- 2:31Speaker 9: we'll go to practice and we'll cover as much as
- 2:34Speaker 9: they allow us to cover with the cameras. When they
- 2:37Speaker 9: turn tell them to shut off, we'll shut off. We'll
- 2:39Speaker 9: end the show. But we will have a wrap up
- 2:42Speaker 9: show after practice, so you know, probably around two fifteen
- 2:46Speaker 9: thirty or so.
- 2:47Speaker 5: Will we wrap up in here, Fred or are we
- 2:48Speaker 5: gonna wrap up it?
- 2:49Speaker 2: Oh, we'll wrap up in here.
- 2:51Speaker 9: Yeah, we'll come down to the studio after practice after
- 2:54Speaker 9: player availability.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Okay, so big week next week.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Huge, I mean things just ramp up during Mini camp.
- 3:00Speaker 5: I mean, Paul tell you they jump from OTAs to
- 3:02Speaker 5: mini camp.
- 3:02Speaker 4: It's quite The level of intensity is palpable.
- 3:05Speaker 5: It goes from about a four to five.
- 3:07Speaker 4: They go from just shorts and shorts in mini camp.
- 3:13Speaker 8: And the attendance has been really good for the voluntary
- 3:15Speaker 8: part too, So it's not even like we haven't seen anybody.
- 3:17Speaker 8: I know that you're looking forward to its being there
- 3:20Speaker 8: on Monday. He was kind of the last one, so
- 3:22Speaker 8: we've we've sort of seen everybody too. Yeah, he was
- 3:26Speaker 8: at the very first practice and he hasn't been there, but.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Even some of the guys that weren't there on Monday.
- 3:32Speaker 5: I've seen around. We did media day yesterday, right, everybody's kind.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Of you mentioned yesterday was media Day.
- 3:38Speaker 9: That's the day that all the players and as many
- 3:41Speaker 9: as that can be here have their photos and videos
- 3:45Speaker 9: taking for the various broadcasts. So we take care of
- 3:49Speaker 9: all those photos that you see, like in NBC when.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Somebody says, hey, I'm you know next up?
- 3:56Speaker 9: You know, we film all that in the office season
- 4:00Speaker 9: and ship that off to the various networks. As well
- 4:03Speaker 9: as the stuff that we use in stadium during the
- 4:05Speaker 9: games and the big board. We take care of all that.
- 4:08Speaker 9: And we did all that yesterday. So some pretty cool stuff.
- 4:12Speaker 9: And I saw a lot of people noticed that they
- 4:14Speaker 9: were wearing their gray slacks.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I realized that halfway through, halfway through the we were there,
- 4:19Speaker 5: and then all of a sudden, I turned down and like, oh,
- 4:21Speaker 5: they're all wearing great pants, right, so.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Interesting, the same uniforms, the same as the ones we
- 4:29Speaker 6: were last year, the dirty ones, I.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Think, so yeah, but they know they like me.
- 4:33Speaker 8: They liked the gray pants though that they like the
- 4:35Speaker 8: gray pants with the blue but much better than the blueberries.
- 4:38Speaker 8: So we're moving, moving in the right direction.
- 4:40Speaker 3: It's the stripes on.
- 4:41Speaker 8: The shoulders that they gotta. You don't like the stripes
- 4:44Speaker 8: too big, too much stripe? Really Yeah, it's a big
- 4:47Speaker 8: point of contention.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I like the stripes.
- 4:49Speaker 9: It's like a lot of the SEC teams like Auburn
- 4:52Speaker 9: have the stripes.
- 4:53Speaker 5: I like that.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I think it could they could be smaller.
- 4:57Speaker 4: But LSU has the stripes.
- 4:58Speaker 2: L s U has the stripes.
- 5:00Speaker 8: This is a big bone with the fans. The fans
- 5:02Speaker 8: do not like the stripes.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I like.
- 5:05Speaker 10: So is it that they don't like the stripes or
- 5:07Speaker 10: is it that they don't like the stripe blueberries with
- 5:10Speaker 10: the silver pants because it's a different kind.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Of spe is because they don't match.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 8: I think if the stripes were redone in a more
- 5:18Speaker 8: aesthetically pleasing way, then they would get the seal of approval.
- 5:21Speaker 8: But just these stripes with this color coordination just doesn't work.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Okay, that's all. I had kind of a tough experience yesterday, Fred,
- 5:29Speaker 5: I like you shared with the group. That's unfortunate.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Well, little background, you know.
- 5:33Speaker 5: I think I like to pride myself that I can
- 5:34Speaker 5: throw a football a little bit. I've been told, been
- 5:37Speaker 5: told by certain NFL Network commentator played football at Princeton
- 5:42Speaker 5: that wow, dude, you got a pretty good arm. He
- 5:44Speaker 5: said that, quote direct quote. A couple of summers ago.
- 5:46Speaker 5: You might remember I fell.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I do remember this.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Remember I fell on the beach.
- 5:51Speaker 3: You were talking about when he fell down.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Well, I was playing football with my son and I
- 5:55Speaker 5: jumped into a sandbar. I thought it was an ocean.
- 5:57Speaker 5: It was.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And we were at training camp.
- 6:01Speaker 5: A football rolls by my feet and I was like,
- 6:03Speaker 5: time to shine, pick the football up, try to throw
- 6:06Speaker 5: a rib gear. I was like, oh, and it was
- 6:07Speaker 5: a terrible throw. So yesterday who walks into my area?
- 6:11Speaker 5: We're doing some videos, but my god, Gibril Peppers walks
- 6:14Speaker 5: in and so we have these kind of silver footballs
- 6:16Speaker 5: that we were using and June he was like, Douce,
- 6:19Speaker 5: do you want to throw Gabril the football?
- 6:21Speaker 2: And I was like absolutely.
- 6:23Speaker 5: So I'm standing there, Gabril is standing there like, all right,
- 6:26Speaker 5: throw it to him. And as I go to throw it,
- 6:28Speaker 5: like the silver paint on the football is slippery, and
- 6:32Speaker 5: again I just like and it's like.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I did I think I did?
- 6:38Speaker 5: I felt like I did at least side, So I
- 6:41Speaker 5: think I think I think Gabril was disappointed in me.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I could see it on.
- 6:45Speaker 4: His face to get one chance.
- 6:48Speaker 5: I know when I thought I was really gonna pop
- 6:49Speaker 5: that one off, like I was, you know, Everett High
- 6:51Speaker 5: at circa eighty five, Like.
- 6:53Speaker 11: But I played catch a little with the ball too.
- 6:55Speaker 10: It was I mean, granted I got a okay from
- 6:58Speaker 10: Splaine passing it to Junior, but there was a little
- 7:02Speaker 10: bit of like attackiness.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, dou just threw up his mom's spaghette.
- 7:07Speaker 5: I did was because because the other guys were all
- 7:09Speaker 5: going to underhand, the underhand kind of you know, and
- 7:11Speaker 5: I was like, I'm not doing that. I'm going to.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Like, let's go.
- 7:16Speaker 4: No.
- 7:17Speaker 6: No, he just was like, well I ran the PP
- 7:19Speaker 6: two and holy so is it?
- 7:21Speaker 9: So is it going to be your mission this year,
- 7:23Speaker 9: one of these years, on another occasion where you can
- 7:26Speaker 9: throw him the football.
- 7:27Speaker 5: At least somebody at least somebody. I mean I said
- 7:30Speaker 5: it many times during the warm up SEC session of practice.
- 7:32Speaker 5: I think I'd be great at like when the DB's
- 7:35Speaker 5: just dropped back and the coach just loves it to
- 7:36Speaker 5: them and they you know, grab it, Like I think
- 7:38Speaker 5: that would be really good for me. But I got
- 7:40Speaker 5: to prove myself. One of these days a football will
- 7:42Speaker 5: roll to my feet.
- 7:43Speaker 10: And I'm Matthew Slaters, not no longer here as a
- 7:46Speaker 10: coach or a player. So you can take the role
- 7:48Speaker 10: of when his children would catch the balls at training
- 7:51Speaker 10: camp for the punters and then instead of throwing it
- 7:55Speaker 10: back to the special teams, guys just like.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Just watch and then I'm like, no, no, no, no,
- 8:01Speaker 2: I'll throw it back.
- 8:02Speaker 9: I always had this fantasy that the Patriots were playing
- 8:05Speaker 9: a lefty quarterback one week and Belichick scept fred, I need.
- 8:08Speaker 4: You and.
- 8:10Speaker 2: You know had that same rotation.
- 8:12Speaker 5: Do you think you would have been better than just
- 8:13Speaker 5: a random guy they got to just throw with his
- 8:15Speaker 5: left hand like a random NFL athlete.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Oh right.
- 8:19Speaker 9: I had a catch with Edelman when we did the
- 8:22Speaker 9: uh the schedules video, and I was, I was, you know,
- 8:28Speaker 9: do you ever have a catch with Drew Paul?
- 8:29Speaker 2: Did you ever get that opportunity catch?
- 8:30Speaker 12: Not?
- 8:31Speaker 5: I'd just be curious what it's like to catch a
- 8:33Speaker 5: ball front Drew or Brady like a real NFL quid.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Hurt your hand exactly like I've just hurt Like how
- 8:39Speaker 5: I mean, is it just do you feel, you know,
- 8:41Speaker 5: come off.
- 8:42Speaker 6: We talked about this during Monday's practice when we were
- 8:45Speaker 6: on the you know, we're.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Watching and they were doing a.
- 8:47Speaker 6: Quick drill with the I think it was the DB's
- 8:50Speaker 6: and they had the judge machine and it was pretty close.
- 8:52Speaker 6: It was probably within fifteen yards, would you say, And
- 8:55Speaker 6: they had you know, click on the line and they
- 8:57Speaker 6: were turning. It was basically it's like you were almost
- 9:00Speaker 6: a linebacker dropping into his own, you know, so quick
- 9:03Speaker 6: reaction CROs get and it was like four or five
- 9:06Speaker 6: go by.
- 9:06Speaker 4: And I looked at Mike, I go, you think you
- 9:08Speaker 4: could catch one of those?
- 9:09Speaker 2: No doubt?
- 9:10Speaker 4: And he said no, and I doubt. I agreed.
- 9:14Speaker 6: I think coming that fast, I'm not sure because I
- 9:19Speaker 6: pride myself the hand eye is elite.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I have an elite hand eye.
- 9:23Speaker 13: Especially when it comes to always says it about himself
- 9:27Speaker 13: like he's wrong. I have a elite handy and the
- 9:30Speaker 13: remote correct another another point in my.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Face going to streaming services. But that's fine.
- 9:35Speaker 6: I don't think though, from that close, at that velocity,
- 9:39Speaker 6: I don't think, you know, so I wouldn't necessarily want
- 9:41Speaker 6: to play catch with.
- 9:42Speaker 9: Speaking of fast, I came out to practice Monday and
- 9:45Speaker 9: they were doing you know, some punt returns and whoever
- 9:48Speaker 9: was operating the drug machine had that thing on eleven
- 9:52Speaker 9: because that thing was coming out like a freaking rocket.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Good good, Yeah, get working, guys. Catch that ball.
- 9:59Speaker 8: I I would like to try, you know, maybe run
- 10:02Speaker 8: like a sixteen yard dig and just tell Drake may
- 10:04Speaker 8: like just rifle it, like just throw it, throw it
- 10:07Speaker 8: like you would.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Throw a helmet.
- 10:09Speaker 8: You might need a helmet, and like, I just want
- 10:11Speaker 8: to see if it hits me in the face and
- 10:14Speaker 8: puts me into next Tuesday, like, you know, give me
- 10:16Speaker 8: your best throat.
- 10:17Speaker 6: We're watching Zoe on on the Sports Hub on the
- 10:20Speaker 6: TV in the studio and he he broke someone's finger and.
- 10:23Speaker 4: I park a lot at the Sports Hug. They just
- 10:26Speaker 4: playing catch.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's a good point you break up.
- 10:29Speaker 6: But I don't think I don't think he was throwing
- 10:31Speaker 6: it like as hard as he could or anything.
- 10:32Speaker 5: That's that's that point different, right, That's what I'm cured
- 10:35Speaker 5: ready for it. And I've had plenty of catches with
- 10:37Speaker 5: my son, and that's that the thirteen year old don't
- 10:40Speaker 5: throw it like you, But just what's you feel like
- 10:41Speaker 5: coming off the off the hand. It's a fastball, Like, whoa,
- 10:45Speaker 5: this is different.
- 10:45Speaker 9: I mean they're probably throwing what's sixty seventy miles an
- 10:47Speaker 9: hour off football?
- 10:49Speaker 4: Sixty sounds about right. I mean, not like I could
- 10:51Speaker 4: bring it in baseball.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Of course, not you got to wear the gloves.
- 10:54Speaker 4: That was a video.
- 10:56Speaker 6: I told you that at Miami, right, woman up in
- 10:58Speaker 6: the bullpen at Miami. Know, so I would be I'd
- 11:01Speaker 6: throw a pitch and they would go throw it back
- 11:05Speaker 6: and they go.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Every pitch good someone unnerving.
- 11:11Speaker 2: That's funny. I use that tonight in my son's base.
- 11:14Speaker 9: That's a good trash talk maneuver. All right, all right,
- 11:18Speaker 9: So we had a media day yesterday. We're gonna have
- 11:21Speaker 9: mini camp next week. What else do we have to
- 11:25Speaker 9: talk about today? I do have one thing I want
- 11:27Speaker 9: to clear up. And I appreciate Morgan for Vermont clearing
- 11:32Speaker 9: up something, because I didn't know if I was going crazy.
- 11:35Speaker 9: We're talking about wings, the drumstick part. And he said
- 11:38Speaker 9: the guy who wrote in on Tuesday saying drums aren't
- 11:40Speaker 9: wings should probably stick to eating crayons. Drums absolutely are wings.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Fred was right.
- 11:46Speaker 9: The drum is separated from the flat, but both pieces
- 11:49Speaker 9: make up the wing without question. I would like to
- 11:51Speaker 9: thank the guy, though his blind stupidity makes me feel
- 11:54Speaker 9: really smart. I knew that they were one piece that
- 11:59Speaker 9: got separate. It's like the shoulder, right, it's the shoulder.
- 12:02Speaker 4: And that's all we need to do is we just
- 12:04Speaker 4: had a call out.
- 12:06Speaker 11: I was listening to the show after the fact to
- 12:07Speaker 11: pull the clips.
- 12:08Speaker 4: In Renaissance like skills.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Chicken Anatim, she's got it all.
- 12:13Speaker 4: So we did we needed you?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Were you?
- 12:16Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 12:17Speaker 5: On Tuesday, I was just going to bring up Evan
- 12:19Speaker 5: and I were talking that report. This morning, Patriots hired
- 12:22Speaker 5: a director of coaching analytics. Uh, analytics, a director?
- 12:27Speaker 4: You did not say that, are we.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Point? They did not have someone.
- 12:33Speaker 8: No, they this is their fourth person on staff and
- 12:36Speaker 8: their analytics department, And uh, I have what I'm saying,
- 12:40Speaker 8: director because Marshall is the main guy in our analytics department.
- 12:47Speaker 8: I'd have to look up his exact title, but he's
- 12:50Speaker 8: he's uh, he's.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Been around for a little while, Marshall.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 8: And then they hired somebody from Joe McDonald who was
- 12:56Speaker 8: previously with the Red Sox. Actually that's making the transition
- 12:59Speaker 8: into football from baseball. About six months ago, maybe ended
- 13:04Speaker 8: towards the end of the season last year.
- 13:06Speaker 6: I believe he's director of football strategy. Marshall homes yeah,
- 13:09Speaker 6: is it home.
- 13:10Speaker 8: Yeah, strategy yeah, okay, director of football strategy yeah. And
- 13:14Speaker 8: now this guy from the forty nine ers would make
- 13:17Speaker 8: four people in our analytics department. And you know, that's
- 13:22Speaker 8: an area of the team that has come under some
- 13:25Speaker 8: criticism for being behind the times and not having these
- 13:29Speaker 8: types of people. And what I liked about this hire's
- 13:32Speaker 8: background is that he not only does he do you know,
- 13:37Speaker 8: coaching analytics, so like scouting, you know, advanced scouting for
- 13:41Speaker 8: opponents and things like that, and you know, charting tendencies
- 13:45Speaker 8: and all that good stuff. He's also worked in the
- 13:47Speaker 8: personnel side with the forty nine ers as well to
- 13:51Speaker 8: work on you know, using analytics in terms of scouting
- 13:55Speaker 8: and evaluating talent and players. So that's all good stuff
- 14:00Speaker 8: for the Patriots. And some of the best teams in
- 14:02Speaker 8: the league have some of the most robust analytics departments.
- 14:05Speaker 8: Philadelphia is probably the number one team in the league
- 14:08Speaker 8: in terms of department. They have about eight people eight
- 14:11Speaker 8: people in their department. Their assistant general managers and analytics
- 14:15Speaker 8: guy as well, so is it.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Like the Red Sox they have about one hundred.
- 14:21Speaker 2: What I'm saying, and the Dodgers I think have even more.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, yep.
- 14:25Speaker 8: So McDonald came from from the Red Sox, directly from
- 14:29Speaker 8: the Red Sox to the Patriots and hopefully to maybe
- 14:33Speaker 8: not necessarily do football scouting per se, but to bring
- 14:37Speaker 8: the systems up to date with what the industry is
- 14:44Speaker 8: doing at this point. I know a lot of people
- 14:46Speaker 8: hear about this kind of stuff and don't like it
- 14:48Speaker 8: and don't want you know, the fourth down decision making
- 14:51Speaker 8: it all be based off of win probabilities and stuff.
- 14:54Speaker 8: But that's not all that they do. You know, that's
- 14:56Speaker 8: probably five percent of the job that gets ninety five
- 14:59Speaker 8: percent of the attention and just because it's you know,
- 15:02Speaker 8: presented that way on game days. But really the more
- 15:05Speaker 8: of the stuff that they do is is scouting, advanced
- 15:09Speaker 8: scouting of opponents, scouting yourself and your tendency.
- 15:13Speaker 9: Always done that. How does analytics change the way they scout?
- 15:17Speaker 8: So I would say that in a couple of different ways.
- 15:19Speaker 8: You know, player tracking data is probably the biggest one.
- 15:23Speaker 8: I mean, so all the players have you know, the
- 15:25Speaker 8: chip in their their pads or somewhere on their their
- 15:28Speaker 8: person and that stuff tracks everything from like straight line
- 15:32Speaker 8: speed and max speeds to you know, how explosive you
- 15:36Speaker 8: are in and out of your cuts if you're a
- 15:38Speaker 8: receiver or cornerback or whatever the case may be.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I mean you can't tell that by looking at him.
- 15:44Speaker 8: Well, it just is a way to like tangibly put
- 15:46Speaker 8: a number to what you're watching. So that that's a
- 15:52Speaker 8: big part of it. I mean you could say that.
- 15:54Speaker 8: But then like the Patriots probably thought Sony Michelle looked
- 15:57Speaker 8: pretty fast at Georgia and like how did that go?
- 16:00Speaker 8: So if they had this type of data, then they
- 16:02Speaker 8: would be able to say, well, the data doesn't really
- 16:05Speaker 8: support that. So then you can go back and watch
- 16:07Speaker 8: the film again and make sure that your eyes aren't
- 16:10Speaker 8: deceiving you about certain players.
- 16:13Speaker 3: So yeah, all that stuff is good.
- 16:15Speaker 8: Like they needed this, They needed to kind of bring
- 16:17Speaker 8: that department up to standard, I would say. And like
- 16:21Speaker 8: Mike Rabel I think is a really good person because
- 16:24Speaker 8: he's going to still be at his heart of hearts,
- 16:26Speaker 8: is going to be a football guy, right, Like he's
- 16:28Speaker 8: not going to let the nerds infiltrate the organization. But
- 16:33Speaker 8: it's a great resource to have.
- 16:34Speaker 10: I don't think dis guy's your average nerd either. Like
- 16:36Speaker 10: he played linebacker at the University of Toledo. He has
- 16:39Speaker 10: a pretty cool stories from Nigeria. Originally was born in Lagos,
- 16:44Speaker 10: got a Baucher's of Engineering and Bioengineering, Masters of Science
- 16:48Speaker 10: and Data Science from DePaul.
- 16:50Speaker 5: My boy's wicked smimt.
- 16:51Speaker 11: He's wicked smile and he doesn't look like a nerd.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Like no.
- 16:57Speaker 11: Locker and beat them on a test.
- 16:59Speaker 8: Some of the things that he didn't with the forty
- 17:00Speaker 8: nine ers was actually creating their own metrics in terms
- 17:05Speaker 8: of like value and stuff like that to assign values
- 17:08Speaker 8: to players, whether it's like free agency or or the
- 17:11Speaker 8: draft too. So he did a lot of R and
- 17:12Speaker 8: D work on that kind of stuff as well. So
- 17:14Speaker 8: I'm like interested to see where they go with that too.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I have an analytics request from the nerds.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Yeah, can we get a football fast stat which they're
- 17:23Speaker 5: tracking guys on their shirts? Yep, we know what their
- 17:27Speaker 5: time forties are. But you watch enough of these games,
- 17:30Speaker 5: you should get enough of a sample size that you
- 17:32Speaker 5: know which guys run routes the fastest and which guys
- 17:35Speaker 5: could actually oh yeah, he only runs a four to
- 17:39Speaker 5: four to eight as a receiver. But on the field,
- 17:42Speaker 5: he's been running this mile proud, you know, he's football fast. Like,
- 17:45Speaker 5: can't we get that kid.
- 17:46Speaker 2: To get that?
- 17:47Speaker 3: Well, they have that.
- 17:48Speaker 8: But I think what's cool about where we're going now
- 17:50Speaker 8: with all of this is that it's not just straight
- 17:53Speaker 8: line speed, because I think that's deceiving because if a guy,
- 17:56Speaker 8: different guys run forty yards and some guys may never
- 17:59Speaker 8: run forty yards in the straight line. So like, how
- 18:02Speaker 8: could you say that, you know, this slot receiver, like
- 18:05Speaker 8: you don't know, right, Like that's a different skill set.
- 18:07Speaker 3: They're not running go routes. They're not.
- 18:09Speaker 8: You know, every single year when you look at like
- 18:11Speaker 8: next Gen and who's the fastest players, it's always like
- 18:14Speaker 8: gunners on on like punt team right full, and it's like, well, yeah,
- 18:18Speaker 8: they're get to run the sprint down the field. That's
- 18:20Speaker 8: what the forty yard dash is for. It's actually why
- 18:22Speaker 8: it was created. So like all these things are like
- 18:25Speaker 8: kind of okay, but now we can measure speed off
- 18:28Speaker 8: the line of scrimmage and their acceleration, how quickly they
- 18:32Speaker 8: build up speed with the football in their hands after
- 18:35Speaker 8: the catch. You know, that was something that Travis Hunter
- 18:37Speaker 8: was like off the charts at was his build up
- 18:39Speaker 8: speed with the football. So you can kind of break
- 18:42Speaker 8: it down into separate parts now, So like they can
- 18:44Speaker 8: sit there and say, like this player, you know, breaks
- 18:47Speaker 8: at the top of the route at this acceleration, and
- 18:49Speaker 8: that's how he creates separation, and like that might change
- 18:52Speaker 8: in terms of like your role in an offense, how
- 18:55Speaker 8: important that is or isn't. So all that stuff I
- 18:58Speaker 8: think is really important as well.
- 19:01Speaker 6: The least surprising thing was that evn't knew that much
- 19:03Speaker 6: about the Patriots analytics to it.
- 19:07Speaker 9: But I wish there was a way we could go
- 19:10Speaker 9: back in time and put these numbers on people who
- 19:16Speaker 9: we thought were like Barry Sanders, what would his numbers
- 19:20Speaker 9: have been?
- 19:20Speaker 4: So we can do it.
- 19:21Speaker 8: I think we can do it with the video of that,
- 19:25Speaker 8: And then you can get like an estimated number by
- 19:28Speaker 8: basically looking at like you know, feet per minute or
- 19:32Speaker 8: per second I guess would probably be the more accurate measurement,
- 19:34Speaker 8: and then kind of computing Okay, well what's that equal
- 19:37Speaker 8: in miles per hour and what's that?
- 19:39Speaker 3: But like it's not you know, they don't have.
- 19:41Speaker 8: The chip right, and Barry Sanders so it's an estimate,
- 19:44Speaker 8: but they do. There are analytics houses that do things
- 19:47Speaker 8: like that that are able to kind of just look
- 19:50Speaker 8: and based off them.
- 19:51Speaker 2: And so when they do that, do the numbers bear out?
- 19:53Speaker 9: Like, yes, the people that were great then would have
- 19:56Speaker 9: had great numbers.
- 19:58Speaker 8: Now I haven't necessarily seen at like Barry Sanders or
- 20:01Speaker 8: you know, someone like that, but that they do that
- 20:05Speaker 8: with the current players now, stuff like that.
- 20:08Speaker 9: Like Aston what do you know have any idea what
- 20:11Speaker 9: his numbers are?
- 20:12Speaker 3: Yeah, Ashton denty.
- 20:14Speaker 8: You know, he was more about like you know, I
- 20:17Speaker 8: was talking about like off the line of scrimmage, Like
- 20:19Speaker 8: his speed was more of his burst, like the first
- 20:21Speaker 8: ten yards and not necessarily you know, he has breakaway speed,
- 20:25Speaker 8: but he's not you know, necessarily.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Not worried about that.
- 20:28Speaker 3: It's yeah, so he was.
- 20:29Speaker 8: He graded out pretty well in those types of metrics
- 20:33Speaker 8: and things like that. So look, I get it. It's
- 20:36Speaker 8: you know, not everybody's gonna be on board with it.
- 20:39Speaker 8: You know, it has its role. It's not it shouldn't
- 20:43Speaker 8: be the entire piece of the puzzle, but it's a
- 20:45Speaker 8: piece to the puzzle. And I just think a lot
- 20:47Speaker 8: of the teams that are embracing it. Are some of
- 20:52Speaker 8: the teams are some of the best scouting teams in
- 20:54Speaker 8: the NFL, especially through the draft. You know, the Rams
- 20:57Speaker 8: are probably the poster child right now success stories like
- 21:01Speaker 8: the Rams. Do they draft Puka Nakua without player player
- 21:04Speaker 8: tracking data? Probably not, you know, so like those are
- 21:07Speaker 8: the things that you can look at in terms of
- 21:09Speaker 8: like when it works out. But you still have to
- 21:11Speaker 8: you know, football is football. You still have to scout it.
- 21:13Speaker 8: You still have to, you know, really do your due
- 21:16Speaker 8: diligence and watch the tape. And the tape is king
- 21:18Speaker 8: And I don't think anybody's arguing with that.
- 21:20Speaker 9: Yeah, And I think, you know, it's one thing to
- 21:23Speaker 9: get this tracking data when they're in a sterile environment,
- 21:27Speaker 9: But what's that tracking data look during a game?
- 21:30Speaker 2: To me, that's the most important part.
- 21:32Speaker 8: Well, that's what it all is. Yeah, none of us
- 21:34Speaker 8: so like that. You know, teams like the Rams and
- 21:36Speaker 8: now the Jaguars who are following in the rams footsteps.
- 21:39Speaker 8: The Rams don't even go to the combine. They don't
- 21:41Speaker 8: pay attention to a single thing that happens at the combine.
- 21:44Speaker 8: They don't send anybody, they don't do any of the
- 21:46Speaker 8: interviews they don't look at any of the on field
- 21:48Speaker 8: drills because all of their data is in game tracking. Right,
- 21:54Speaker 8: how fast is this guy with pads between the lines?
- 21:58Speaker 9: Not?
- 21:58Speaker 3: I don't care what he runs in? A forty in spandex.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Still sounds stupid to me.
- 22:03Speaker 4: I think that's dumb.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Just go like, if you want to everything that Evan
- 22:08Speaker 6: just said about the data, if you want to accentuate
- 22:11Speaker 6: that data, by all means you accentuate that data.
- 22:14Speaker 4: That's what I believe in. Why would you not go into.
- 22:18Speaker 6: So why would you not utilize all the possible information
- 22:22Speaker 6: that you can everyone else you want to lean on
- 22:25Speaker 6: all of the numbers that you get on your own.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Fine, but why wouldn't you go and talk to somebody?
- 22:30Speaker 6: Why wouldn't you use the opportunity to meet with as
- 22:33Speaker 6: many players as you can to get to know who
- 22:35Speaker 6: they are.
- 22:35Speaker 8: Well, to take it a step further, they don't do
- 22:37Speaker 8: thirty visits either, So.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Like, I think that's insane, it's kind of arrogant.
- 22:42Speaker 6: So it's very ary, and I you know I'm saying this.
- 22:46Speaker 4: You know that I'm a believer in McVeigh.
- 22:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I think he's exceptional, But I think that's that's
- 22:51Speaker 6: closing the door to information. I don't know why you
- 22:54Speaker 6: would ever do that. I would say the same thing
- 22:55Speaker 6: to the football I used to criticize Belichick for completely
- 22:59Speaker 6: being so anti analytical, even though I am more anti analytical.
- 23:03Speaker 6: Why would you close the door to information that can
- 23:06Speaker 6: possibly help you right, use it all and then determine
- 23:09Speaker 6: on your own what you think is more important.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:12Speaker 8: So the reason why they don't not not that I
- 23:14Speaker 8: necessarily agree with it, but the reason why they don't
- 23:16Speaker 8: do interviews is because they don't want to develop bias.
- 23:20Speaker 8: H Yes, they don't want get clouded towards the individual players,
- 23:23Speaker 8: Like they don't want a player that's just a great
- 23:25Speaker 8: talker to just talk them into drafting him if he's
- 23:28Speaker 8: not a great football player. So they that's how they
- 23:31Speaker 8: view it is that when you meet somebody in person
- 23:34Speaker 8: and you hit it off with that person, then maybe
- 23:36Speaker 8: you get clouded in terms of your judgment that we
- 23:39Speaker 8: just like this kid, so we're just gonna draft him
- 23:42Speaker 8: over you know, drafting somebody else who's actually got better
- 23:45Speaker 8: tape in it, a better football player.
- 23:46Speaker 6: My argument against that would be, have you never had
- 23:49Speaker 6: a I'm going to leave out my example, but that
- 23:53Speaker 6: I just thought of that maybe, chuckle. Have you ever
- 23:55Speaker 6: had an experience with somebody that was sort of average
- 24:00Speaker 6: on paper that was made to look better when you
- 24:03Speaker 6: got to talk to them and they turned out to Wow? Boy,
- 24:06Speaker 6: Am I glad I got to know that person because
- 24:08Speaker 6: they offer so much more than they're quiet.
- 24:11Speaker 2: There's a lot right right?
- 24:12Speaker 6: You tell me there's no example of a player who
- 24:14Speaker 6: has average skills but is put over the top because
- 24:18Speaker 6: he's incredibly prepared and instinctive and you know, leader, you
- 24:23Speaker 6: know leadership. You can't use a player like that that
- 24:27Speaker 6: maybe doesn't have the perfect numbers that you're looking for. Again,
- 24:32Speaker 6: if you want to accentuate the numbers, that's your prerogative.
- 24:34Speaker 6: I don't think that that's wrong. You utilize all the
- 24:38Speaker 6: all the analytical data that you can. But I don't
- 24:40Speaker 6: know why you would not want you know, am I
- 24:42Speaker 6: going to be afraid that I'm going to say, Well,
- 24:44Speaker 6: this guy flat out can't play, but he was a
- 24:46Speaker 6: really good guy, so I'm going to draft him.
- 24:47Speaker 4: I don't think that happens a lot.
- 24:49Speaker 5: It's interesting that they came to this though, probably during
- 24:51Speaker 5: that period, but they didn't really have a lot of
- 24:53Speaker 5: high round picks, but the proof is in the pudding.
- 24:56Speaker 5: They've drafted really well the last couple of years.
- 24:58Speaker 6: They cannot do with the program, or as I like
- 25:00Speaker 6: to said, the program the program. Yeah, and argue with
- 25:03Speaker 6: their their success rate.
- 25:04Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't necessarily agree with their interview process. I
- 25:08Speaker 8: think they do a great job though, of and they
- 25:11Speaker 8: show it a lot with some of the Rams behind
- 25:13Speaker 8: the scenes stuff where it's like less Need and his
- 25:16Speaker 8: kind of group, less Needs their general manager. He kind
- 25:18Speaker 8: of brings like that sort of analytical approach, and then
- 25:22Speaker 8: Sean McVay brings the football right, and so Sean McVay
- 25:25Speaker 8: will come in and less Need will say, well this guy,
- 25:27Speaker 8: we like this guy because of this, this and this,
- 25:29Speaker 8: and then Sean McVay will come in and say, well
- 25:31Speaker 8: I can use them like that, and I'm going to
- 25:33Speaker 8: use them like this and this is he's gonna be
- 25:34Speaker 8: a great fit because of the X, Y and Z and
- 25:37Speaker 8: they've that's I think how they kind of put it
- 25:39Speaker 8: all together. But you know, the Rams, uh, the the Eagles,
- 25:43Speaker 8: the Lions, the Ravens, certainly like these teams all have
- 25:48Speaker 8: great strong analytical departments, you know, big staffs, all of it.
- 25:54Speaker 3: That have a huge role in what they're doing.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 25:58Speaker 6: The personal department also promoted someone to replace Cam Williams.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Did hold police have that name right here? That would
- 26:06Speaker 2: be Tony K.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 26:09Speaker 5: And he was with.
- 26:12Speaker 2: So that's a pro personnel.
- 26:13Speaker 5: That's the director of college scouting.
- 26:16Speaker 4: College scouting switched I think from pro to replace Cameron.
- 26:19Speaker 2: He's been around a little bit. I think he was
- 26:21Speaker 2: with Tampa for a while.
- 26:22Speaker 9: Okay, Jack and and Arbor warns us about having a
- 26:26Speaker 9: catch with a pro quarterback. He says, Stuart Scott, he
- 26:30Speaker 9: has been an ankerman. Before an NFL game, Scott asked
- 26:33Speaker 9: a quarterback to throw him a pass.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Uh. The quarterback through the pass aimed directly at his head.
- 26:39Speaker 9: Not realizing how hard the QB throws of football, Scott
- 26:43Speaker 9: couldn't catch it, went through his hands, hit him in
- 26:45Speaker 9: the eye, partially blinding him.
- 26:46Speaker 4: That is correct. I remember that story. That's yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 2: I didn't know that. I thought that was just a thing. Yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 2: that was an accident.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Wow.
- 26:56Speaker 5: Do you know what quarterback it was?
- 26:57Speaker 4: I don't, Yeah, I don't. I don't remember.
- 27:01Speaker 6: Remember our old security guy broke a finger catching a
- 27:05Speaker 6: pass from from you. The Zolac blood cell right that
- 27:10Speaker 6: former security guy. Yeah, bro, I think he broke a
- 27:13Speaker 6: finger catching a pass from either Bloodsoe or right, Frank, Frank,
- 27:19Speaker 6: you don't remember that?
- 27:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't remember.
- 27:21Speaker 4: No, no, no, maybe I'm just maybe I'm making stuff.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Up, my frank.
- 27:25Speaker 9: Uh. Uh. Story was we were at Bryant College and
- 27:30Speaker 9: uh that's where that happened during training camp. Okay, so
- 27:33Speaker 9: another thing happened there. He started riding a bike everywhere.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Do you remember that?
- 27:37Speaker 9: Ye, I don't know what happened, but I think he
- 27:40Speaker 9: felt Yeah, he went he went after somebody and the
- 27:43Speaker 9: bike just like did a wheel and he fell off
- 27:45Speaker 9: the back of it.
- 27:49Speaker 6: He got he got mad at us when we wrote,
- 27:52Speaker 6: we wrote about the guy running on the field, right,
- 27:54Speaker 6: he got home made all right?
- 27:57Speaker 9: Eight five five past five hundred is the high Line
- 28:00Speaker 9: podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the email address uh
- 28:05Speaker 9: newsletters coming out this week. You can subscribe to the
- 28:09Speaker 9: email by the newsletter by going to Patriots dot com
- 28:12Speaker 9: slash pu newsletter. You definitely want to subscribe to that.
- 28:16Speaker 9: It's a lot of fun. We make fun of each
- 28:19Speaker 9: other on that. Alex puts a.
- 28:22Speaker 8: Little trouble last week because of the newsletter. No I
- 28:25Speaker 8: did personally at home. Yeah, oh yeah, so you know
- 28:28Speaker 8: we put that that story in the newsletter, the off
- 28:31Speaker 8: air story. And I went to go pick Jess up
- 28:34Speaker 8: from somewhere. She gets in the car and she goes
- 28:36Speaker 8: saxophone huh, And I was like, I was like, you
- 28:39Speaker 8: knew I played.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Played this.
- 28:43Speaker 8: I played the saxophone and she was like, I didn't
- 28:45Speaker 8: know why. I was like, it was twenty years ago.
- 28:50Speaker 8: I think we've moved on.
- 28:51Speaker 11: The part that didn't make it in is your rock band?
- 28:54Speaker 11: You were in a rock band.
- 28:55Speaker 8: I wasn't a rock band ish. I mean, like I
- 28:58Speaker 8: like cause played it was of it.
- 29:00Speaker 3: We didn't have a name. You have a name, I know,
- 29:02Speaker 3: it didn't analytics. We never named it.
- 29:05Speaker 9: So when you say you were a rock band, you
- 29:06Speaker 9: were a bunch of guys that played together in the
- 29:08Speaker 9: garage or did you actually.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Have a we know, we only had like one or
- 29:13Speaker 3: two gigs.
- 29:13Speaker 8: And it was like kind of like an after school
- 29:16Speaker 8: program thing, and uh my mom and dad wanted me
- 29:20Speaker 8: to do it to keep it on my college resume,
- 29:22Speaker 8: and I didn't want to do like high school band anymore.
- 29:25Speaker 3: I was kind of over it.
- 29:26Speaker 8: And so we were just like jamming this dude's garage
- 29:30Speaker 8: that ran this after school program.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I did some neither brass on the band or is
- 29:35Speaker 2: this what do we Yeah, we had it.
- 29:36Speaker 3: We had a whole whole horn.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Second, you were like Parliament.
- 29:40Speaker 3: We were like we.
- 29:41Speaker 8: Liked to you know, more like Bruce Springsteed in the
- 29:43Speaker 8: EA Street Band. You know that was sort of what
- 29:45Speaker 8: we We thought that ourselves were hard fancy.
- 29:50Speaker 11: That last time we touched the sash man should.
- 29:53Speaker 10: Break it out at your wedding, high school, your reception,
- 29:56Speaker 10: break it out, and I think that'd be a good time.
- 29:57Speaker 5: That is right there, surprised for j I'm the wedding,
- 30:01Speaker 5: bust out the sacks and and give her a serenade
- 30:03Speaker 5: her with sacks.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Right, you're saying sacks sat.
- 30:08Speaker 5: Not like sacks of the quarterback player. Some sacks. I
- 30:11Speaker 5: think that's a good idea.
- 30:12Speaker 2: She would love it. What song would you play?
- 30:15Speaker 3: I can play Sweet Caroline on there. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 30:20Speaker 3: Red Sox remember.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Right now his music is Eric trying to play the piano.
- 30:31Speaker 9: That was funny, yeah, so Eron he insisted. Eric always
- 30:34Speaker 9: told us, oh I can play the piano. So we
- 30:37Speaker 9: were at a super Bowl. It was in Atlanta, and
- 30:39Speaker 9: I had an electric piano there because we're going to
- 30:42Speaker 9: use it for media night for one of the players,
- 30:45Speaker 9: and it was just set up, and so I Eric
- 30:48Speaker 9: go play the piano, keyboard and spot and he just
- 30:52Speaker 9: couldn't play. And then who was it that just jumped
- 30:54Speaker 9: out Jamie Jamie one and just bangs out of it.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Was like.
- 31:03Speaker 9: You ever see those those those guys who are like, oh, yeah,
- 31:05Speaker 9: I can play the guitar, So you hand him a
- 31:06Speaker 9: guitar and they spend like twenty minutes and they never
- 31:11Speaker 9: get to anything. That was what everyone was doing.
- 31:13Speaker 4: It was just like.
- 31:15Speaker 9: It's like, if you really know how to play the piano,
- 31:18Speaker 9: you just you just start playing.
- 31:19Speaker 4: That was the Atlanta super Bowl, right, Yeah, I remember that.
- 31:22Speaker 2: You just that was That was what he did.
- 31:24Speaker 5: That's that's what he did.
- 31:25Speaker 2: That's what he did.
- 31:27Speaker 5: That was Yeah, my guy.
- 31:30Speaker 4: No artistic, no kidding.
- 31:33Speaker 3: I had training on the saxophone.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:36Speaker 5: A lot of you played the play of an instrument though,
- 31:39Speaker 5: and you're like that you have to have a go
- 31:40Speaker 5: to song of just like here's the one I worked
- 31:43Speaker 5: on for a year that.
- 31:44Speaker 4: You know you have to figure Hollins open, right, that.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Just sounds like he's just like, so, I just I'm
- 31:51Speaker 5: not literally a bully play I'm not being a bully.
- 31:55Speaker 4: They were a little bit of a bully.
- 31:56Speaker 9: But he invites them, Like if you if you tell people, oh, yes,
- 31:59Speaker 9: I played a piano in in such a way that
- 32:02Speaker 9: you know, yeah this way? Yeah yeah, like you better
- 32:06Speaker 9: be able to play the piano.
- 32:07Speaker 2: I can push the keys down.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I'm not telling you I can.
- 32:10Speaker 4: That's all. That's all he was doing. I can was
- 32:13Speaker 4: just like randomly hitting keys. He claimed he knew how
- 32:16Speaker 4: to play right, and he didn't.
- 32:18Speaker 5: Did he clam up or did he walk over there
- 32:19Speaker 5: with confidence and was ready to just know?
- 32:21Speaker 2: I had to coax them to the tails, like yeah right.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Ferre still has the actual video of it.
- 32:29Speaker 9: Yeah, it's it's I don't know. It's like if you
- 32:33Speaker 9: tell someone, oh, yes I speak Italian, you better be
- 32:35Speaker 9: able to speak Italian.
- 32:37Speaker 4: I'm fluent.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Yeah. Well, if there's ever a guitar around and you
- 32:40Speaker 5: want me to pick it up and play an acoustic
- 32:41Speaker 5: version of Pink Pony Club, I've got that in my repertoire.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Now you can do.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Clubs, So you're still really.
- 32:50Speaker 5: I am being serious about the music hall on the side,
- 32:52Speaker 5: the musician or sorry trump.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Not the trumpet.
- 32:58Speaker 8: Trumpets gross, like to get those all caught in there
- 33:01Speaker 8: objectively cool, thank you.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I picked the trombone. I had no idea what well.
- 33:07Speaker 9: Yeah, the sax is cool because you don't look like
- 33:09Speaker 9: weird when you're playing it.
- 33:10Speaker 2: When you're playing the trumpet, your cheeks around like this.
- 33:12Speaker 9: But I don't know, you can kind of be cool
- 33:14Speaker 9: playing the saxons.
- 33:17Speaker 10: That sounds so good too, Like do you know Joey
- 33:19Speaker 10: Sacks that the Celtics games befriended him just after a
- 33:23Speaker 10: couple of times there when he has like when he
- 33:25Speaker 10: plays outside of TD Garden after a concert or something,
- 33:29Speaker 10: it's electric. Like he did a Celene Dion song after
- 33:32Speaker 10: Selene concert. It went so viral because he was so good.
- 33:35Speaker 8: That's like why I stopped playing in the school band
- 33:38Speaker 8: was because we we were doing all the classical stuff
- 33:41Speaker 8: and it was like, wasn't fun, Like I yeah, I
- 33:43Speaker 8: think nowadays they try to do it a little bit more.
- 33:46Speaker 8: We were actually playing songs, you know, like it's way
- 33:49Speaker 8: more exciting when you're when you're actually playing a song
- 33:52Speaker 8: than it is like when you're like going back and
- 33:54Speaker 8: playing like some like symphony or something, and.
- 33:56Speaker 11: The college marching bands do all of the lights.
- 33:59Speaker 8: Yeah, right, Like I hear that a lot more now
- 34:01Speaker 8: that they do, Like they do actual songs that are
- 34:05Speaker 8: popular and stuff, which is much more fun.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Do you remember, like all the songs that your band
- 34:08Speaker 5: used to play, Like during football games in high school,
- 34:10Speaker 5: there was just like a repertoire of.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Like, you know, certain field.
- 34:14Speaker 5: You were paying attention to the cheerleaders in the band,
- 34:16Speaker 5: like me, why do you play?
- 34:18Speaker 4: I'm just kidding.
- 34:19Speaker 6: I was about quarterback for a while. I had the
- 34:22Speaker 6: baseball hat in the EyeBlack.
- 34:24Speaker 5: I was looking so so our band sometimes they didn't
- 34:27Speaker 5: this is high school. They didn't travel. But one kid
- 34:29Speaker 5: was really into it, the trumpet player, and so you
- 34:32Speaker 5: just had the trumpet guy go and he for like
- 34:34Speaker 5: away games, he would just trumpet.
- 34:36Speaker 14: You know.
- 34:36Speaker 4: It was a trumpet guy.
- 34:37Speaker 2: It wasn't his name was Cliff.
- 34:39Speaker 5: It wasn't as exciting, but just a trumpet, you know.
- 34:43Speaker 9: But Jeremiah says, if we're giving suggestions for a song
- 34:46Speaker 9: that Evan should play at his wedding, on his sacks,
- 34:48Speaker 9: I suggest Careless Whispers just sits at the middle of
- 34:52Speaker 9: a dance as he circles.
- 34:54Speaker 4: I wouldn't pay.
- 34:56Speaker 2: What's that song?
- 34:58Speaker 4: It's about cheating?
- 34:59Speaker 5: Oh it is, Oh.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Caroline, that's not nice, Jeremiah.
- 35:06Speaker 5: It's a great sacks.
- 35:07Speaker 4: It's definitely it's a great SAXA my uh, it's cheating.
- 35:12Speaker 8: My grandparents were massive Neil Diamond fans, huge, and so
- 35:16Speaker 8: at their fiftieth wedding or anniversary, I performed Sweet Caroline,
- 35:20Speaker 8: and I practiced for like weeks in advance to nail it,
- 35:25Speaker 8: and they had a little band with me and everything
- 35:27Speaker 8: to fill in.
- 35:28Speaker 14: And of course did they do the oh yeah, yeah,
- 35:34Speaker 14: so good, so good, so good, you know, you know,
- 35:37Speaker 14: and I'm just wailing.
- 35:38Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 35:39Speaker 15: I know.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Alex said that I don't think saxes are cool. They
- 35:43Speaker 5: just like silly to me, like walking out on it.
- 35:45Speaker 3: Like who's doing that?
- 35:47Speaker 4: The Battle of the Fans dancing.
- 35:50Speaker 5: Do you remember the guy in The Lost Boys who
- 35:52Speaker 5: played the sacks with like he was like shirtless with
- 35:54Speaker 5: like a leather pants and like a ponytail.
- 35:56Speaker 11: That was the only wedding there's a sax player. And
- 35:59Speaker 11: then like the after hours at the reception.
- 36:02Speaker 5: See that's where I'm going out, So I have as
- 36:05Speaker 5: I played.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Hockey with a.
- 36:11Speaker 5: I'm just saying this is where it all comes from
- 36:13Speaker 5: from me. I have an old friend from college who
- 36:15Speaker 5: that's what he does.
- 36:15Speaker 2: He moved to San Diego.
- 36:17Speaker 5: He plays the sacks at weddings and that's what it is.
- 36:20Speaker 5: It's like him like getting into it.
- 36:22Speaker 3: I don't know what this move is. I've never seen
- 36:24Speaker 3: anybody that plays the sas you know what you.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Got to hear and.
- 36:30Speaker 4: I don't.
- 36:31Speaker 6: I don't know what in the USC martching band on
- 36:34Speaker 6: the Tusk video for that would back.
- 36:36Speaker 3: It's a lot.
- 36:37Speaker 5: You want to be more.
- 36:37Speaker 4: You want to be slower with it.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Dude, you're like jerking it like you don't want to
- 36:41Speaker 3: do that.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Oh wow, you don't want to do that.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I don't know what moves you don't.
- 36:51Speaker 14: I don't mean your strim songs, all right, I don't
- 36:55Speaker 14: know honestly.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Like I'm sure I could like charge like five grand
- 36:59Speaker 3: in appearance.
- 36:59Speaker 8: I'm sure I could make like I could play it
- 37:02Speaker 8: was in like I still would know the mechanics of
- 37:04Speaker 8: like if I picked one up, I could you know,
- 37:06Speaker 8: make noise and like things like that, But I can't
- 37:09Speaker 8: like actually play anymore.
- 37:10Speaker 5: I played in Saxon O's like x's and o's with Saxon.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Oh that's not bad.
- 37:15Speaker 5: You know your your two favorite things.
- 37:17Speaker 2: The brass knows all right, that's also very good.
- 37:23Speaker 9: Podcast at Patriots dot Com, Eric from Nashville has a
- 37:26Speaker 9: couple Would you rathers Okay, little football.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Good games, good job, good job.
- 37:30Speaker 9: Would you rather relive the two thousand and one, two
- 37:33Speaker 9: thousand and five Patriots or the twenty fourteen twenty eighteen Patriots.
- 37:39Speaker 4: One one one.
- 37:42Speaker 11: Young, so I was too young to truly appreciate game?
- 37:46Speaker 9: Okay? Would you rather relive the seven to twenty eleven
- 37:51Speaker 9: Patriots with the extreme highs and lows? Or the twenty
- 37:54Speaker 9: twenty twenty twenty four Patriots with just the expected lows?
- 37:59Speaker 2: Even better to have been there and lost than never
- 38:03Speaker 2: to have been there.
- 38:03Speaker 4: I would agree, better.
- 38:05Speaker 11: To watch Randy Moss than whatever those years were.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Yeah, you lose, you lose too soon? I mean, how
- 38:10Speaker 4: as opposed to not making the playoffs.
- 38:12Speaker 2: They won more than twelve games, though it's too much,
- 38:14Speaker 2: too many games he.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Probably wants to watch now.
- 38:16Speaker 4: I mean, I'm just so tired of going twelve.
- 38:19Speaker 9: And lastly, he says, to get Paul a new car
- 38:22Speaker 9: has anyone suggested pimping him out with his new body.
- 38:25Speaker 9: He surely has someone in his family that knows where
- 38:27Speaker 9: to start. Oh that's terrible, man, But I am.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Very James Street, very popular.
- 38:39Speaker 2: That's down by Park Plaza. It's notorious.
- 38:43Speaker 5: What we could do, no crap. You know you don't
- 38:48Speaker 5: have to leave your house anymore.
- 38:49Speaker 15: Though.
- 38:50Speaker 5: I think he just only fans it up. You know
- 38:51Speaker 5: you got good, you got good feet can.
- 38:54Speaker 11: Money to be made.
- 38:55Speaker 10: They just sold for nine billion dollars. It's cheaper to
- 38:58Speaker 10: buy only fans. It's cheaper by the Boston Celtics.
- 39:01Speaker 4: I don't think. I don't think there's money to be
- 39:03Speaker 4: made for for me.
- 39:04Speaker 11: You never know, there's some freaks out there.
- 39:05Speaker 3: There are a lot of You're very popular with the sixteen.
- 39:08Speaker 5: I've seen.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 39:13Speaker 5: I've seen.
- 39:14Speaker 3: You should see him on game day sometimes the women
- 39:16Speaker 3: come calling.
- 39:17Speaker 2: They do that.
- 39:20Speaker 5: The draft party this year. Really, I think it hurt
- 39:22Speaker 5: you because we were down down here, weren't able to be.
- 39:27Speaker 14: Well.
- 39:27Speaker 11: He signed.
- 39:30Speaker 5: And that, Oh my god, he is.
- 39:36Speaker 9: Trying to find some football questions. Curtis and Saint Louis,
- 39:39Speaker 9: which positional battle do you think will be more? Have
- 39:43Speaker 9: the more surprising outcome as it comes to making the
- 39:46Speaker 9: roster slash Day one starter the wide receiver room or
- 39:49Speaker 9: the interior offensive line, which will have the more surprising outcome.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I might go in. I might go guard left guard,
- 39:58Speaker 2: surprising like a Tyree Robbins.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Okay, I'm gonna go guard to.
- 40:02Speaker 5: I think like I kind of have a sense of
- 40:05Speaker 5: the wide receivers, one or two guys, maybe some questions.
- 40:08Speaker 5: But well, if if.
- 40:12Speaker 4: He doesn't, if he doesn't end up starting at this point,
- 40:15Speaker 4: I'm gonna.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Be surprised he doesn't up to be surprised.
- 40:18Speaker 4: The way the way it's been written and talked about,
- 40:21Speaker 4: man hates in the wrong place. There. Do not put
- 40:26Speaker 4: my don't assign my hate to Chisholm.
- 40:28Speaker 2: You don't.
- 40:29Speaker 4: You don't because I have. You don't even spoken to
- 40:31Speaker 4: the man.
- 40:32Speaker 5: You don't like the mold. You don't like this.
- 40:34Speaker 11: No, I don't like the reaction, the manufactured hype.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Correct, that's doesn't like people who try hard.
- 40:40Speaker 6: No, no, no, no, try hard doing this. Do not
- 40:45Speaker 6: do this about the player. I don't know enough about
- 40:48Speaker 6: the player know if I like him or not. I
- 40:50Speaker 6: haven't really seen him. It's the gross overreaction to everything
- 40:57Speaker 6: that I sort of pushed back on. Okay, enough, there's
- 41:00Speaker 6: no like, and he doesn't like people who try hard.
- 41:03Speaker 4: There's a lot of guys who try hard. Come on,
- 41:07Speaker 4: all right, don't be like.
- 41:08Speaker 9: Curtis also said that second question, agree or disagree? If
- 41:11Speaker 9: Gonzo has a similar or better season this year, signing
- 41:15Speaker 9: him to an extension next off season is top priority,
- 41:20Speaker 9: the top priority.
- 41:22Speaker 3: But is the extension eligible?
- 41:23Speaker 4: I don't think he can.
- 41:26Speaker 3: That'd be his third season.
- 41:27Speaker 4: I think, don't you have to wait till the fourth.
- 41:29Speaker 6: I think they would always forget that, dang right, But
- 41:32Speaker 6: then he would be eligible after the third season. Oh wait, no, no, no,
- 41:36Speaker 6: he's right, he's right. Yeah, talk myself out.
- 41:38Speaker 4: Of that.
- 41:40Speaker 6: Change because Brady did it after his third Well, yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 6: the rules have changed. Okay, but but the emailer is
- 41:45Speaker 6: right because he's talking after this year. That would be
- 41:47Speaker 6: after the third year. Yes, you can decide on the
- 41:50Speaker 6: fifty year option.
- 41:51Speaker 4: And you can extend that. Yeah, I got all very well.
- 41:55Speaker 4: Might be that is very difficult for Paul.
- 41:58Speaker 5: I could see it being the top option and one
- 42:00Speaker 5: of the top options. I mean, I haven't looked too
- 42:02Speaker 5: far down the road with the free agents and everything.
- 42:04Speaker 5: But absolutely, and it seems like from what we've seen
- 42:07Speaker 5: with this regime that that would be on the docket.
- 42:10Speaker 5: With Bill, I don't feel like there will be any
- 42:12Speaker 5: way that they're going to up him until you know,
- 42:15Speaker 5: last minute. But with Wolf, I mean, they certainly seem
- 42:18Speaker 5: to have the cap space and all that stuff to
- 42:21Speaker 5: be able to handle it handle a big contract like
- 42:23Speaker 5: that at that point, and who else is it going
- 42:25Speaker 5: to go to? So yeah, I think it's definitely something
- 42:27Speaker 5: to watch out for.
- 42:28Speaker 9: Okay, Steven and Ireland A quick question, will we ever
- 42:33Speaker 9: see a Patriots Unfiltered Slash Cash twenty two crossover show
- 42:37Speaker 9: where Barth comes on? Love those shows for their different styles,
- 42:40Speaker 9: but just to see once a mashup of both of
- 42:43Speaker 9: you at the table.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Also, Alex had on a Wednesday during the season we had.
- 42:48Speaker 5: Barth come in.
- 42:49Speaker 3: He did well.
- 42:49Speaker 5: I remember Fred like waving Barth in. I think to
- 42:52Speaker 5: like talk about something.
- 42:53Speaker 4: I think it was Kickers.
- 42:54Speaker 9: I think I might also Alex name dropping Isaiah Rashad
- 42:59Speaker 9: last week as the great last great music to come
- 43:02Speaker 9: out was so on the money.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Kudos Alex, thank.
- 43:05Speaker 1: You for that.
- 43:05Speaker 5: Who's that?
- 43:06Speaker 11: I don't know, I don't know You're very good hip
- 43:08Speaker 11: hop artists.
- 43:09Speaker 9: Yeah, okay, Jeff in Canada. A couple off season conversation starters. One,
- 43:16Speaker 9: what is the best Patriots team from any era that
- 43:19Speaker 9: didn't advance to play in a Super.
- 43:21Speaker 5: Bowl, AFC Championship lost in any era?
- 43:26Speaker 2: Seventy six, seventy six?
- 43:28Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, they were loaded.
- 43:30Speaker 4: I don't know what did what did we actually asked
- 43:32Speaker 4: Steve Nelson that question?
- 43:34Speaker 5: Did we not what was better?
- 43:35Speaker 4: Who was better seventy six or seventy eight? And what
- 43:37Speaker 4: did he say? Did he say seventy eight was better?
- 43:40Speaker 9: Don Brocher, the late great equipment manager here, he said
- 43:45Speaker 9: seventy eight was a better team.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Okay, So I would say seventy eight.
- 43:48Speaker 5: Then, yeah, that was the rushing team, right, that was
- 43:50Speaker 5: the scene that said the rushing record over two thousand
- 43:52Speaker 5: rushing arts. Yeah, I would say I would.
- 43:56Speaker 9: Say either of those teams, seventy six or seventy eight,
- 43:58Speaker 9: relatively speaking, a loaded team.
- 44:00Speaker 6: Because I think the teams in recent and you know,
- 44:05Speaker 6: the recent past that fell short of the Super Bowl
- 44:07Speaker 6: probably got as far as they should have got. Like
- 44:11Speaker 6: I don't really remember them getting upset in a conference change,
- 44:14Speaker 6: like maybe the.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Baltimore Universe they would have that they had they.
- 44:18Speaker 4: Were That team was overachieving like crazy, right, I'm just saying.
- 44:22Speaker 8: I would say the twenty fifteen team, probably when Baltimore
- 44:25Speaker 8: won the Super Bowl.
- 44:26Speaker 3: That's a twenty fifteen team. That's a good Edelman got hurt.
- 44:30Speaker 4: Was that the year that Manning was.
- 44:33Speaker 3: They lost, And.
- 44:34Speaker 5: That's a really good one. I think rock instead of
- 44:38Speaker 5: I think that's the answer.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that team was a wagon until they people started
- 44:42Speaker 3: getting hurt.
- 44:43Speaker 6: I would say the seventy six and seventy eight teams
- 44:45Speaker 6: were better than that personally, but in their era.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:50Speaker 5: One of them had Tom Brady fifteen teams.
- 44:53Speaker 4: Like, I'm not comparing talent on teams. I'm comparing like that.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Fred said, yeah, yeah.
- 44:58Speaker 3: The other one, I would say.
- 45:00Speaker 4: So just like the seventy six team. This, you know,
- 45:03Speaker 4: and a good friend g.
- 45:04Speaker 6: Matt Jerry told me to make sure you explain when
- 45:07Speaker 6: you do, like the little cart into the history way
- 45:11Speaker 6: back machine. Yeah, so seventy six, just let everybody know
- 45:15Speaker 6: the Oakland Raiders won the Super Bowl that year. They
- 45:17Speaker 6: lost one game all year, they went thirteen and one,
- 45:20Speaker 6: They went through the playoffs, they rolled to a super Bowl.
- 45:23Speaker 6: They really weren't tested. The one loss was a forty
- 45:27Speaker 6: eight to seventeen loss to the Patriots here in Foxborough
- 45:30Speaker 6: and the playoff, the one close playoff game was a
- 45:34Speaker 6: game that a lot of people think was stolen away
- 45:36Speaker 6: from the Patriots fan and wild card game. Yeah that
- 45:39Speaker 6: was rough in the passer Yeah, rough in the passer game.
- 45:41Speaker 6: So that tells you how good that Patriots team was
- 45:44Speaker 6: relative to the rest of the league. No one else
- 45:45Speaker 6: could play with Oakland. The Patriots pounded them once and
- 45:50Speaker 6: was We're up twenty one to ten in the fourth
- 45:52Speaker 6: quarter of the playoff game in Oakland and couldn't hold on.
- 45:55Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 45:55Speaker 5: That was part of my conversation with Steve Nelson. I
- 45:58Speaker 5: asked him if beating the Raiders in eighty five still
- 46:01Speaker 5: had some meaning after what had happened previously, and you know,
- 46:04Speaker 5: he said yes, And that's something I think that gets
- 46:07Speaker 5: lost now we're so used to free agency and teams
- 46:09Speaker 5: changing so much that he kept playing into you know,
- 46:13Speaker 5: ten plus twelve years because they had been with all
- 46:16Speaker 5: those guys like it just it felt like that was
- 46:18Speaker 5: a continuation all through the early eighties, that it was
- 46:21Speaker 5: kind of the same team, the same players. You know,
- 46:23Speaker 5: a couple guys would changed here and there, but he
- 46:25Speaker 5: still felt that in eighty five, like we're the same
- 46:28Speaker 5: team where we have all the pieces. We just they
- 46:30Speaker 5: think eighty one eighty two, those seasons they had winning records,
- 46:33Speaker 5: they just didn't make the playoffs. They were an okay team.
- 46:36Speaker 5: So I think that gets lost. But it's it's so
- 46:38Speaker 5: different watching those teams and looking at the teams around them.
- 46:40Speaker 2: There was no turnover.
- 46:41Speaker 5: It's pretty much the same who that's your team.
- 46:43Speaker 6: And yeah, draft want to say in that era, you know,
- 46:46Speaker 6: so seventy eight was really good. They won eleven games.
- 46:49Speaker 6: Seventy nine I think they fell off a little bit
- 46:51Speaker 6: because that was the year that you know, Fairbanks had
- 46:53Speaker 6: gone ron Orheart took go over. Eighty I think they
- 46:56Speaker 6: won ten games, didn't make the playoffs. Eighty one they
- 46:58Speaker 6: fell apart. Yeah, they went two and fourteen in eighty one,
- 47:01Speaker 6: but then they recycled and went to the playoffs in
- 47:04Speaker 6: the strike year of eighty two. Ron Meyer, you know,
- 47:08Speaker 6: came in sort of built them up. Then he left
- 47:10Speaker 6: and Barry got them to the super Bowl in eighty five,
- 47:13Speaker 6: went to they won the division in eighty six, so
- 47:14Speaker 6: they would they did. I know, everybody just thinks that
- 47:17Speaker 6: always sucked in the eighties, but they did have some
- 47:20Speaker 6: good teams.
- 47:20Speaker 2: They did.
- 47:21Speaker 5: That defense was outstanding. I mean watching it now, I
- 47:23Speaker 5: have a whole new perspective on how good they were
- 47:26Speaker 5: across the board, and not only.
- 47:27Speaker 9: What do you think was parcels here as a line
- 47:29Speaker 9: in eineteen eighty eighty and Nelson said, I think they
- 47:33Speaker 9: went ten and six that year and didn't make the playoffs.
- 47:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean Nelson that year he had been I
- 47:36Speaker 5: think seven years pro That was his first Pro Bowl.
- 47:39Speaker 5: I think he was fifth place in Defensive Player of
- 47:41Speaker 5: the Year voting. You know, he said Bill Parcells was
- 47:45Speaker 5: was the best coach. But that eighty five defense was stacked,
- 47:48Speaker 5: and they also had guys that just played great that
- 47:50Speaker 5: season two like Fred Marion came on and had so
- 47:53Speaker 5: many cut, clutch interceptions. I have such a new perspective
- 47:56Speaker 5: on it after kind of watching those games.
- 47:58Speaker 9: It's a Jeff saying, sir, is the twenty ten team
- 48:01Speaker 9: that was fourteen and two.
- 48:03Speaker 6: I was a good but that's a good addition. I
- 48:06Speaker 6: think that's another team that overachieved like crazy.
- 48:09Speaker 8: I would say out of the dynasty teams, like six
- 48:12Speaker 8: twenty fifteen, would like qualify for that.
- 48:15Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a good addition to it.
- 48:16Speaker 8: They had they still had no business losing to the Jets,
- 48:19Speaker 8: like they killed the Jets in the regular season.
- 48:21Speaker 4: Shouldn't have watched the Jets. I just didn't think they
- 48:23Speaker 4: were They weren't a fourteen and two team. Yeah.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know if they would have won it all,
- 48:26Speaker 3: but they should not have lost the guests.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Second question, what is different right now?
- 48:31Speaker 9: If Rabel was hired last January when he was available
- 48:34Speaker 9: after Bill and Robert parted ways, good question.
- 48:38Speaker 2: We have varied now, it would be a very different
- 48:40Speaker 2: gone differently I think.
- 48:42Speaker 5: I mean, I think this is kind of a pall thing,
- 48:44Speaker 5: but I don't think he would have run it back
- 48:45Speaker 5: with all the Patriot players probably.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Wow.
- 48:48Speaker 6: I think that's that's the biggest thing, is how many
- 48:50Speaker 6: guys would have gotten rid of last.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Year declined to resign.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, I think I think that's a good one.
- 48:57Speaker 5: You know, mre to tension a year early. I mean
- 49:01Speaker 5: that's a question maybe, but there's a lot of things
- 49:03Speaker 5: they did last year that I think he probably would
- 49:05Speaker 5: have come in and wanted to put his own stand.
- 49:08Speaker 9: Yeah, Jeffrey says, I think for Vrabel, the male year
- 49:11Speaker 9: is the best thing ever because it removes the pressure
- 49:13Speaker 9: of being the guy who followed bets.
- 49:15Speaker 2: So but we might have signed Derrick Henry so Deuce
- 49:18Speaker 2: miss that I didn't even think of that, and thank
- 49:21Speaker 2: you good email, Jeff Good.
- 49:26Speaker 5: I think it was a shoke brought that point. I'm
- 49:28Speaker 5: sure I was talking to him about. I mean, unfortunately
- 49:30Speaker 5: for Mayo, he kind of became the buffer year and
- 49:33Speaker 5: there's no real comparisons now to Rabel and and Belichick.
- 49:37Speaker 5: He kind of has carte blanche.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Now that's true.
- 49:40Speaker 8: I mean like they tried that with Cam though, and
- 49:42Speaker 8: then like you kind of you were trying to clear
- 49:44Speaker 8: the decks for Mac, but like it still felt like
- 49:46Speaker 8: Mac was the successor to Brady because and I wonder
- 49:49Speaker 8: if it ends up feeling that way with this will
- 49:51Speaker 8: be like the.
- 49:51Speaker 5: Trivia thing they're like who coached in between?
- 49:55Speaker 8: It will be if if, especially if it works well
- 49:58Speaker 8: to bring it to some other local Boston sports news.
- 50:01Speaker 8: You know, the Bruins hiring Marco Sturm now are just
- 50:04Speaker 8: like on this trend of every hire as a former
- 50:06Speaker 8: player who played for the team that hired them, and
- 50:09Speaker 8: so yeah, it was like the only one, right, but
- 50:12Speaker 8: the you know, the Celtics have Sam Cassel on the
- 50:13Speaker 8: staff who played for them, so like they it's they
- 50:17Speaker 8: have like every team now has a guy that has
- 50:19Speaker 8: a connection to to the team as a player. And
- 50:22Speaker 8: all three Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots, they all played in
- 50:27Speaker 8: the same era in Boston as well, you know, and
- 50:30Speaker 8: their respect team.
- 50:32Speaker 3: So it's cool.
- 50:33Speaker 5: It's so funny by talking about this with my hockey
- 50:35Speaker 5: buddies this weekend about just how different the public and
- 50:39Speaker 5: sports fans view football coaches who are geniuses and the
- 50:42Speaker 5: ones who make it work and hockey coaches who get
- 50:46Speaker 5: fired left and right. They're just kind of there for
- 50:47Speaker 5: a little while to see if they can motivate guys.
- 50:49Speaker 2: But there's no you don't the way you hold up
- 50:52Speaker 2: you know, the.
- 50:55Speaker 5: Like the greatest football coaches of all time, Vince Lombardi,
- 50:58Speaker 5: Like you don't look at Scotty Bowman and say like
- 51:00Speaker 5: he was a genius, like he was a great coach.
- 51:02Speaker 5: But there's not that pressure on football coaches where they've
- 51:05Speaker 5: got this secret playbook, they've got all the answers, and
- 51:08Speaker 5: I don't know where you guys, find Basketball falls in that,
- 51:11Speaker 5: but it's such a different perspective, Like how many teams
- 51:13Speaker 5: is Peter Laviolette my cousin Pete coached or you know,
- 51:16Speaker 5: Mike Sullivan's got another job, Like they just go from
- 51:18Speaker 5: place to place. Football, you get maybe two chances and
- 51:20Speaker 5: then that's it.
- 51:21Speaker 2: You're out.
- 51:22Speaker 5: It's weird.
- 51:23Speaker 8: I would say basketball has it's it's fair share, like
- 51:26Speaker 8: Red Hour back off the triangle offense with Phil Jackson
- 51:29Speaker 8: pat Riley, Like those guys are.
- 51:32Speaker 5: How smaller guys you do set up plays Hockey it's
- 51:35Speaker 5: their plays, and there's defenses and offenses, but it's so
- 51:38Speaker 5: much more fluid that you're more training guys to react
- 51:41Speaker 5: on the fly rather than get in position and go
- 51:43Speaker 5: to these exact spots. It's not like that.
- 51:46Speaker 11: The more basketball evolves to the less that becomes.
- 51:49Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean current coaches like Rick Carlisle now taking
- 51:52Speaker 8: the Pacers to the finals is like one of the
- 51:54Speaker 8: best coaching jobs I've seen in a long time in
- 51:57Speaker 8: the NBA, And that's pretty rare that you say that.
- 52:00Speaker 8: Don't really say that too often, but basketball too, you
- 52:02Speaker 8: have all the college coaches, you know, John Wooden and
- 52:05Speaker 8: coach k and you know, uh rupped from Kentucky and
- 52:09Speaker 8: like all like those guys like that's also a big
- 52:11Speaker 8: part of it in basketball too, because those guys coach
- 52:14Speaker 8: in college basketball for like twenty thirty years.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Some of them stay at the same school. So it's baseball's.
- 52:20Speaker 5: Weirsi too because you're kind of like part of the game,
- 52:23Speaker 5: but you have to you know, you're controlling the flow
- 52:25Speaker 5: a lot more in baseball, I would say than maybe
- 52:28Speaker 5: other sports. You're able to you know, it's it's you're
- 52:30Speaker 5: constantly chiming in with what are we doing in this situation?
- 52:34Speaker 5: What guy am I going to hit here? They're this matchup?
- 52:37Speaker 8: You know.
- 52:37Speaker 2: All reprimanded me the other day for talking baseball.
- 52:40Speaker 5: Oh, it's a sport.
- 52:42Speaker 4: He's a hall of reprimanded.
- 52:43Speaker 9: I was talking about Brian Bao, Say I look good.
- 52:45Speaker 9: I said he was getting stronger as the night. When
- 52:46Speaker 9: I said, he's at his best when that fastball has
- 52:49Speaker 9: that late.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Paul's like, okay, I don't know. I don't one gets
- 52:54Speaker 2: to baseball.
- 52:55Speaker 4: No, no, I wouldn't.
- 52:57Speaker 6: I certainly wouldn't say that any pitcher for the Red
- 53:01Speaker 6: Sox is better when that fastball like that was the
- 53:05Speaker 6: part that made me last it's true.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I'm an observer of sports.
- 53:08Speaker 6: I would I would say that in general terms, coaches
- 53:11Speaker 6: all four sports are vastly overrated in their like tactical approach,
- 53:17Speaker 6: like the x's and o's not football, I think I
- 53:20Speaker 6: think it's I think they all run virtually the same stuff.
- 53:22Speaker 6: It's all about feel and when you're calling plays and
- 53:25Speaker 6: how you're exploiting mismatches and what I'm going to call
- 53:28Speaker 6: this play against this defense because I know it's gonna work.
- 53:32Speaker 6: Like they're all running the same place, like the same
- 53:35Speaker 6: kind of concepts. In general, I think that what separates
- 53:39Speaker 6: guys is their ability to connect and motivate and lead.
- 53:44Speaker 6: And that's why to Evan's point, like Mike Krzyzewski and
- 53:48Speaker 6: all these guys like, it's not because Mike Krzyzewski's running
- 53:51Speaker 6: a different offense than Rick Patino is running, right, No,
- 53:55Speaker 6: it's they all have their different philosophies and systems.
- 53:58Speaker 2: College.
- 53:59Speaker 9: It's the more success you have, the more obviously stability
- 54:03Speaker 9: you have, the more the school needs you to stay
- 54:05Speaker 9: because for recruiting.
- 54:07Speaker 6: It builds on it, you know, it builds on itself,
- 54:09Speaker 6: it sustains itself. And I do think in basketball because
- 54:13Speaker 6: there are a fewer players, it's less important as.
- 54:16Speaker 9: To what you see, Well, the player is the less
- 54:18Speaker 9: correct if you're if Lebron's on your team, right, you
- 54:21Speaker 9: have less of an impact than Rick Carlisle has because
- 54:24Speaker 9: Halli Burton is probably their best player, but he's not
- 54:26Speaker 9: really a superstar.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:27Speaker 8: Well, I think that's the cool part about what's happening
- 54:29Speaker 8: in the NBA now is that it's really everybody's calling
- 54:33Speaker 8: it like the weak Link era, because like, really it's
- 54:37Speaker 8: like you need to have five really good guys and
- 54:40Speaker 8: it's not so much about it. It's not like a
- 54:42Speaker 8: Lebron dominating the league anymore. It's like which team has
- 54:45Speaker 8: the best one through five in the league, Like Oklahoma seven,
- 54:48Speaker 8: Oklahoma City is gonna win and there they have the
- 54:51Speaker 8: best starting lineup and really the best like top five
- 54:54Speaker 8: or six guys out of any team.
- 54:56Speaker 3: Now they also have the MVP of the league.
- 54:57Speaker 8: But like SGA is not going to go down as
- 55:00Speaker 8: like a Lebron James, right, Like he's not going to
- 55:02Speaker 8: be like an all time great player. But you know,
- 55:05Speaker 8: the Celtics were kind of the same way last year,
- 55:07Speaker 8: where Tatum is their best player and it's arguable where
- 55:10Speaker 8: he ranks and the pantheon, so that it's a different
- 55:12Speaker 8: kind of era in basketball now.
- 55:15Speaker 9: Tim our friend from Duncan writes in the Patriots seventy
- 55:18Speaker 9: sixteen is one of the greatest teams to not reach
- 55:20Speaker 9: a Super Bowl. I was at the forty eight seventeen
- 55:22Speaker 9: game the hated Raiders. The roughing, the passer call that
- 55:26Speaker 9: lost the playoff game was one of the worst in history.
- 55:29Speaker 2: That game would have been over. That is why the
- 55:31Speaker 2: tuck rule was so satisfying to me.
- 55:34Speaker 5: The funny thing is is you watch that play now,
- 55:36Speaker 5: that's a penalty all day, long time, right right back
- 55:41Speaker 5: in my seventies.
- 55:42Speaker 6: But it probably wasn't a penalty in the seventies, right, Fred,
- 55:46Speaker 6: you hit him in the head?
- 55:47Speaker 5: Yeah, you hit him in the head.
- 55:49Speaker 9: Follow up from last show, Fred, you're thinking about bars
- 55:52Speaker 9: of soap is all wrong. The soap companies will never
- 55:55Speaker 9: change the shape or style because they don't care about
- 55:57Speaker 9: the little nub that you have to deal with at
- 55:59Speaker 9: the end of the bar. With how much you hate
- 56:02Speaker 9: that left over piece, you're still giving them your money
- 56:05Speaker 9: regularly they've won and you've lost. Unfortunately, Also, the rest
- 56:09Speaker 9: of the Guys that say they're using a loofah are
- 56:12Speaker 9: probably just using a bath scrub as Loofahs are actually plants.
- 56:16Speaker 9: They used to be used in its shower, but some
- 56:18Speaker 9: cultures eat them in soup, stews, et cetera.
- 56:20Speaker 5: That's it's not really I just used plastic, not as
- 56:27Speaker 5: much as I should, but I actually I actually drown
- 56:29Speaker 5: it in soap every day. So I'm hoping that that
- 56:31Speaker 5: maybe helps kill things out.
- 56:36Speaker 11: A lot of bacteria.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Well, no problems, Yeah, we'll see.
- 56:39Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 56:40Speaker 5: I only use it for my my man bits and
- 56:42Speaker 5: you know.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Information you can't notice.
- 56:49Speaker 2: You gotta you gotta save your soap. You can't wash
- 56:51Speaker 2: your hair that much.
- 56:51Speaker 5: It's something I've discovered later in life.
- 56:53Speaker 2: It's it's dries you out right.
- 56:56Speaker 4: That's my problem, right, It dries you out.
- 56:58Speaker 9: Soap, Uh Christ and Colfax. The subject line says, Paul
- 57:03Speaker 9: hates fun. I would love to see how long Paul
- 57:07Speaker 9: would hold out on hating Julian Edelman if you were
- 57:09Speaker 9: drafted to the team now exactly how he was out
- 57:12Speaker 9: of Kent State. Also, Will Campbell is one hundred percent
- 57:15Speaker 9: the guy Paul was thinking about swaying the coach staff
- 57:18Speaker 9: in an interview.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Well, I can see that.
- 57:21Speaker 6: I'm you know, yeah, I'm not necessarily saying that. Actually
- 57:25Speaker 6: he has me confused with Fred and Mike, who were
- 57:28Speaker 6: both anti fun. You can't celebrate good plays, you can't
- 57:30Speaker 6: do anything fun. No, but the Edelman comparison is actually
- 57:35Speaker 6: a good one because the email is right. I was
- 57:38Speaker 6: very slow to come around on Edelman and Welker, and Welker,
- 57:43Speaker 6: but I would say, I will do it when you
- 57:45Speaker 6: give me reason to. But they're both right. I was
- 57:48Speaker 6: very late to the party on both guys because I
- 57:51Speaker 6: wanted to see it. Don't just tell me that this
- 57:54Speaker 6: guy's great, like sight Onseen Julian. Edelman's first training camp
- 57:58Speaker 6: was a disaster. He couldn't catch the ball in practice,
- 58:02Speaker 6: he was dropping punts, he was slipping all over the field.
- 58:05Speaker 6: Then all of a sudden, he goes out in a
- 58:06Speaker 6: preseason game and electrifies with a punt return for a touchdown.
- 58:11Speaker 6: You're like, h, maybe this guy's got something. Who you know,
- 58:15Speaker 6: And I don't sit there for the next seven years
- 58:17Speaker 6: and say he's not that good. No, that's part of
- 58:20Speaker 6: like sort of adjusting, admitting you're wrong, admitting this guy's
- 58:24Speaker 6: got a little bit more to his case and you know,
- 58:26Speaker 6: maybe learned something at the NFL level.
- 58:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean in your defense too, how many of
- 58:31Speaker 5: those guys were billed as the next Welker or the
- 58:33Speaker 5: next Settlement or the next Troy Brown and your time here,
- 58:36Speaker 5: they're probably.
- 58:36Speaker 6: I'm telling you that this is at least thirty long
- 58:41Speaker 6: three that did it. Sheky's another one.
- 58:44Speaker 4: Everybody told me how graat he was, how Mike every
- 58:47Speaker 4: single told me, this guy is this, this guy's don'tbelievable.
- 58:53Speaker 6: He's the next one, you know, Jeremy Eber, Jeremy Gallon,
- 58:57Speaker 6: TJ Mole like like this is that you fell in
- 59:01Speaker 6: love with from Miami. Jeff Thomas, Uh Thomas another one.
- 59:06Speaker 8: But not in that mold Jeff Thomas was. But Brad
- 59:09Speaker 8: Barrios ended up having a pretty solid career. He has
- 59:12Speaker 8: had a pretty solid career.
- 59:13Speaker 4: Stiff, so stiff. He's a borderline NFL player.
- 59:17Speaker 10: No, everybody said, I feel like if he wasn't dating
- 59:22Speaker 10: Alex Always.
- 59:23Speaker 3: Still I'm not saying around the least.
- 59:26Speaker 8: I'm not saying he's a Hall of Famer. But but
- 59:28Speaker 8: Bradson Barrios has carved out an NFL career like.
- 59:31Speaker 4: It's not like some of these guys that I'm talking
- 59:33Speaker 4: about kicked around.
- 59:34Speaker 6: Isn't like Austin another one he played for the Saints,
- 59:37Speaker 6: like you had an NFL career, I think they said.
- 59:41Speaker 6: But they all said they were Welker and Edelman, and
- 59:43Speaker 6: it's so disrespectful to Welker and Edelman, those guys with
- 59:47Speaker 6: special players, and none of these guys has even approached that.
- 59:52Speaker 6: But I'm telling you there's at least two dozen that
- 59:55Speaker 6: I could give you that that everybody told me we're
- 59:58Speaker 6: going to be.
- 59:58Speaker 2: That Matt and for Worth Texas.
- 1:00:01Speaker 9: Like so many other loyal listeners of PU, I look
- 1:00:04Speaker 9: forward to your show every week, and you guys truly
- 1:00:06Speaker 9: help me and so many other listeners get through their day.
- 1:00:09Speaker 9: That being said, I feel compelled by a sense of
- 1:00:13Speaker 9: duty and responsibility for every other PU listener to call
- 1:00:17Speaker 9: out our common enemy.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: Christian in la oh Man, please waiting now?
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: I now I reach it.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: You're in Hollywood, Mike.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: You should know now. I recently left the Marine Corps
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: after seven years.
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: And the only reason I bring that up is to
- 1:00:32Speaker 9: say I've been through many, many situations that are extremely
- 1:00:36Speaker 9: mentally and physically demanding, and none of it comes close
- 1:00:39Speaker 9: to the pain and suffering I endure whenever a Christian
- 1:00:43Speaker 9: in LA decides to pipe in and run his mouth.
- 1:00:45Speaker 9: Every single show, I ran the math on how big
- 1:00:48Speaker 9: of a problem this specific caller is.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: In a year, there are about one hundred and twenty
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: PU episodes.
- 1:00:53Speaker 9: Assuming Christian in La calls in and rambles for two
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: to four minutes an episode over the course of one
- 1:00:59Speaker 9: year is a time accumulates to four to eight and
- 1:01:02Speaker 9: a half hours per year.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: Now, PU is it my show?
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: I think that.
- 1:01:08Speaker 9: That this egregious amount of time needs to be curtailed.
- 1:01:12Speaker 9: Christian in La. This is semi lighthearted. Please stop with
- 1:01:15Speaker 9: so many rambling, dumb questions and so.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: As in Rebuttal. I have Christian LA on the phone
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: right now. Christian, what say you?
- 1:01:25Speaker 7: I say I should ramble and.
- 1:01:28Speaker 16: Go on tangents because apparently there are people out there
- 1:01:33Speaker 16: in Patriots nations that do not like Patriot fan. I
- 1:01:37Speaker 16: am a Patriot fan and whover you are if you
- 1:01:41Speaker 16: don't like that? I think about my questions first as
- 1:01:44Speaker 16: to not waste the guys I'm at the babe, just
- 1:01:47Speaker 16: maybe have another.
- 1:01:48Speaker 17: Angle on what our patriots are doing that you and
- 1:01:51Speaker 17: my friend should become a death band and be surest
- 1:01:54Speaker 17: to the losers.
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: That's my rebuttal for that guy.
- 1:01:58Speaker 17: Okay, now onto my daily ramble, keeping on, keeping on subject.
- 1:02:07Speaker 17: If you guys had to do a karaoke song like
- 1:02:13Speaker 17: pictured the Wind the Soup Bowl if he did, what
- 1:02:15Speaker 17: would each of your ghost songs be? And part B
- 1:02:18Speaker 17: of my rabling questions based on their personality we can
- 1:02:22Speaker 17: know about them? What karaoke song do you think, Bill, Tom,
- 1:02:27Speaker 17: Julie and Gronk with you? And yes, I'll take it
- 1:02:30Speaker 17: off there so I can listen to it. The rest
- 1:02:32Speaker 17: of the people hate on Christians.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: From la good okay, all right, and Christian's defense.
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: He called into Cash twenty two and apologized to me yesterday,
- 1:02:41Speaker 8: oh for his Kendrick.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: Bourne, who did he?
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: Have?
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: You mistaken?
- 1:02:45Speaker 18: It?
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Actually your doppelganger, Scott Zolac.
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: So he said that it was Zoe, which didn't surprise
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: me because he called us we're at noon, and I
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: guess is from ten to noon he might have been
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: listening to Zoe and Beatle and her dad.
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: So he said it was so I respect that I
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: do not remember you waxing poetic about Kendrick Bourne. Yes,
- 1:03:08Speaker 6: and you guys know me.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: I remember.
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: One thing about Christian is he has the moniker of
- 1:03:13Speaker 9: the worst caller.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: And he owns it. He does, he loves he is
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: the worst call takes.
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: It right, proves it right. Just kidding Christians.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: So what would be your go to karaoke song?
- 1:03:25Speaker 11: Alex all Right? I got two?
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: She's ready.
- 1:03:28Speaker 10: I've won a couple of karaoke contests and Monday.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: I heard her sing the other day. She's a soprano.
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: It's she's a wonderful voice.
- 1:03:38Speaker 11: I have a good karaoke voice.
- 1:03:40Speaker 10: If I I wouldn't actually pursue singing because I would
- 1:03:43Speaker 10: be like the tryhard girl.
- 1:03:44Speaker 11: But I think I I'm pretty good karaoke. My mom's
- 1:03:47Speaker 11: a good singer. I don't know musical household. I want
- 1:03:50Speaker 11: to dance with somebody, Whitney Houston. I won a Carrie
- 1:03:53Speaker 11: I know. I want a karaoke contest in New Orleans
- 1:03:56Speaker 11: at the cast.
- 1:03:56Speaker 10: Me out with that song, A number two that's music
- 1:04:00Speaker 10: exactly why not?
- 1:04:03Speaker 11: Sadly? Number two?
- 1:04:06Speaker 10: Dirty Little Secret by the All American Rejects. It's pretty unexpected,
- 1:04:10Speaker 10: but it kind of like.
- 1:04:11Speaker 11: People get riled up by it. I put a lot
- 1:04:14Speaker 11: of thought into this.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: You've already in Nashville.
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: We've done a couple.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I did bust a move in Nashville
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: for for the boys. That was it was.
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: It might have been the fact that I had twenty
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: seven beers in me at the time, but yeah, I
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: thought you did.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: It well, it was actually for you, it was.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: We haven't gotten into it yet.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: I used to do the Wanderer a little bit.
- 1:04:33Speaker 19: I want to.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: And I also did a.
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: Big one at the at the at the Woodshed is
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: Amy Amy, Peer Prayer, Prairie League, what you want to do?
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: So those are the ones I've done before, but I
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: don't know.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: I'd like to.
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: I'd like to do some Neil Diamond. I think I
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: could do Crackling Rosie.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: I could do that one, okay, Evan smash mouthed All Star.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: Would you play your sacks with it too?
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Or is that one.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: Very easy?
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: Like no, not a lot of range on it, you know,
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: and big sax and the verses are the verses are
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: basically rap.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: So it's like I've been singing a monotone song and
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: I just.
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: Have and I just haven't played whispers.
- 1:05:17Speaker 8: So yeah, I have no vocal range whatsoever. I cannot
- 1:05:21Speaker 8: sing for my life, so I usually stick to some
- 1:05:24Speaker 8: sort of rap. But like you can't play some rap
- 1:05:26Speaker 8: is inappropriate, so you have to play, you know, friendly rap.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Yeah, the Kids Fall roller Coaster by Ohio Players.
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: No, I can't. You guys know how bad I am.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: You guys can't You got to have a go to
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: the only song I've ever done ane Fever and karaoke.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: I told you it was like a virgin, like a
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: virgin college.
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: I don't have a go to karaoke song because I
- 1:05:47Speaker 6: am legitimately one of the five worst singers in the
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: history of the world.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: To be honest with you, I can see that.
- 1:05:55Speaker 11: Jackson five, I want you back.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: Oh that's a great song.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: I think that's what I should do.
- 1:05:59Speaker 11: You can take it from me. It was my honorable mention.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: I don't think you can hit those noseball Sorry, No,
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: that's Michael Jackson.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: I love to sing, I just I just can't do it.
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: I had Beth very very concerned that I was going
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: to sing reasons at our wedding, and I think at
- 1:06:13Speaker 6: the like, I just kept saying it, knowing like you know, I.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: Don't know if you know the song like you talk
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: about range.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: And notes like you be talking to Kuba Stank right.
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: Now, Like I could not.
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: I could not have done it, but I think at
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: there was a point like I finally I said, no reasons,
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: but yeah, okay, it is I just can't, Like there's
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: no possible.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: Way I would be able to sing that a different song.
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: And I finally, like a week before, I was like,
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: you know that, I'm not really going to do that, right,
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: And she's like, oh, I didn't think you were going to.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: But I was kind of getting worried.
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: About it, like no, I can't sing at all ruin
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: the wedding, but I sang like a virgin at Teas
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: pub been.
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: Like ninety maybe eighty eighty eight eighty nine.
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: They still talk about it was that, like it was
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: it ironic?
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Like is that what you were going?
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: I was that was a little bit of a slow.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Did it work?
- 1:07:02Speaker 12: You know?
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: It was a message?
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: It was more like karaoke is a message to the
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: female population of Boston University.
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: A few other drunk baseball players doing the same time.
- 1:07:13Speaker 9: I was at a bit of I was at a
- 1:07:14Speaker 9: bar in the Cage and a friend of mine who
- 1:07:16Speaker 9: thought he wasn't good.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Singer was up there and he did.
- 1:07:20Speaker 9: Carry So I rolled up a cocktail nap and wet
- 1:07:23Speaker 9: it and you know, threw it at his head and
- 1:07:26Speaker 9: like you know, so he stops and yells at me.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: The next thing, you know, the whole bar is throwing
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: stuff starting. But the thing is, he keeps singing.
- 1:07:36Speaker 9: He's hiding behind this half wall, and every the whole
- 1:07:39Speaker 9: bar is just like the air is full of just
- 1:07:42Speaker 9: debris being thrown at him while he's time.
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: Letter a few weeks ago about who would be the best,
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: the best, like backstory or.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: Ever. I was just like Fred Fred has done.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: Oh I have karaoke.
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: BA.
- 1:07:57Speaker 9: When I got arrested in Dallas after I sang karaoke,
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: he broke all the windows.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: Did not know that one.
- 1:08:10Speaker 11: What's your song? Fred?
- 1:08:11Speaker 9: I would say it's either Mac the knife, Oh that's good,
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: or the way you look tonight?
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: Great? Great?
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: So I could do I could probably try to do
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: a frank Yeah.
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: I was going to say something like that.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: I feel like that summer wind.
- 1:08:23Speaker 11: That's a good key. That's an easy key for the
- 1:08:25Speaker 11: voice to sing.
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I could do summer wind.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: Could I could?
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: I tell the mccallen's story real quick with great songs.
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: Just a quick story from Media DA yesterday. So they
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: play music for all the stuff that we do, and
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: guys come in and they want their different songs and stuff,
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: and you know, try to be accommodating and getting them
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: in the mood and stuff. And and so finally mac
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: collins comes in here the end of the day and
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: they're like, listen off all the stuff they've been playing
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: for his teammates, and he was like, oh, man, I
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: hear that stuff a practice all the time. Put on
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: some Frank Sinatra. So he's got like that first song.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: It's a duet, let's say I love you, I forget.
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: I don't know what the title was. But then as
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: he was walking, I make sure you lead that on
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: for all the rookies too. So it's just kind of funny.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: He's a cool dude. I like, I like my car.
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: I thought you shoes on, yea, he toal, I thought
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: you would do one of your Fred Zeppelins.
- 1:09:10Speaker 9: Fred Zeppelin, Hey Mama, say the way you move gonna
- 1:09:13Speaker 9: make you sweat, gonna make.
- 1:09:15Speaker 20: You love zepp Freepplin, Uh Sam and Charlotte speaking of

- 1:11:33Speaker 18: I think you have to have a starting point, so
- 1:11:37Speaker 18: there's going to be a way to speak, a learning
- 1:11:40Speaker 18: of the language. We talked about that, you know, maybe
- 1:11:43Speaker 18: a couple months ago, and then really it's just going
- 1:11:47Speaker 18: to be about giving them some things to go out
- 1:11:50Speaker 18: and do on the practice field and then learning what
- 1:11:53Speaker 18: they do well, how much they can process what style
- 1:11:57Speaker 18: we should play, And I've always kind of believe that
- 1:12:01Speaker 18: the players.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Will dictate what that ends up being. We don't know
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: that today. I can tell you that right now, there's
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: a lot we still haven't done.
- 1:12:10Speaker 18: For the first time, we're just getting into third now,
- 1:12:13Speaker 18: we haven't got into the red zone. I mean, there's
- 1:12:15Speaker 18: so many other situational things that we haven't even touched
- 1:12:18Speaker 18: on yet. So we're still in the learning phase of
- 1:12:21Speaker 18: our of our offense. Guys getting great opportunities to go
- 1:12:25Speaker 18: out and I feel like at this time of the year, Uh,
- 1:12:28Speaker 18: it's either a good play or we're gonna learn from it.
- 1:12:31Speaker 18: So there's a positive result either direction. And that's the
- 1:12:35Speaker 18: kind of mindset that we're taking. How long do you
- 1:12:38Speaker 18: take to Josh A long time? You know, we we
- 1:12:42Speaker 18: know when the games start. Look if if it could
- 1:12:46Speaker 18: be done by now, you know, we would snap our
- 1:12:48Speaker 18: fingers and have it be finished.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: But I would I would say that's been true.
- 1:12:52Speaker 18: But for every season that I've ever been a part
- 1:12:55Speaker 18: of a team and an offense, it's just whether you're
- 1:12:59Speaker 18: coming back with a bunch of guys that are returning
- 1:13:02Speaker 18: and they kind of know it or you're not. There's
- 1:13:06Speaker 18: always a period of relearning and recommitting yourself to the
- 1:13:10Speaker 18: little things, the details that it takes to run a
- 1:13:13Speaker 18: good play, let alone a good you know, drive, or
- 1:13:16Speaker 18: a good practice or a good game. There's so many
- 1:13:18Speaker 18: little things that everybody needs to do. There's a trust
- 1:13:22Speaker 18: that's being built right now on the field. The more
- 1:13:25Speaker 18: we do well, the more guys can trust each other.
- 1:13:27Speaker 18: And uh, we're continuing to focus on those things and
- 1:13:31Speaker 18: emphasize the kind of identity that we want to create here.
- 1:13:34Speaker 17: Hell eons has been different thing as you guys have thought,
- 1:13:38Speaker 17: how concerned you about that missed the time?
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: And what is he missing right now?
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: You just mentioned you know this is it's an important
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: time to kind of developed that together news.
- 1:13:47Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: I again, it's a voluntary part of the year.
- 1:13:50Speaker 12: We know that.
- 1:13:52Speaker 18: I don't I don't know if we've ever had perfect
- 1:13:55Speaker 18: attendance at these things in general. As a coach, selfishly
- 1:14:00Speaker 18: love you love it when they're all here because you
- 1:14:03Speaker 18: feel like you got them all in the classroom and
- 1:14:05Speaker 18: all on the field and all the rest of it. Uh,
- 1:14:07Speaker 18: he's here today, and we're excited to have an opportunity
- 1:14:10Speaker 18: to work with the guys that are out here and
- 1:14:13Speaker 18: available to us. So I know he's staying up on
- 1:14:16Speaker 18: the information and the material, and there's so many, so
- 1:14:20Speaker 18: many things and opportunities for us to teach all our
- 1:14:23Speaker 18: guys going forward between the rest of the practices here
- 1:14:26Speaker 18: in the spring and then going into the summer, and
- 1:14:28Speaker 18: and you know, the many days we have before we
- 1:14:30Speaker 18: actually kicked the ball off in September.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: So I'm not concerned about Steph in that regard.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Josh, how was a drake ack commanding to your system
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: thus far? And we'll spend sort of your biggest pitching
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: on the point with.
- 1:14:41Speaker 16: Him in the spring.
- 1:14:42Speaker 18: I mean, he's doing really well. He's very smart, works
- 1:14:46Speaker 18: really hard. I think the quarterback room in general is
- 1:14:48Speaker 18: really really good in terms of putting the time and
- 1:14:52Speaker 18: effort in at this point in time of the year,
- 1:14:56Speaker 18: you know, And and like I said, we either make
- 1:14:58Speaker 18: a good play or we learn from the result. And
- 1:15:00Speaker 18: so sometimes as a coach, and nobody wants to hear this,
- 1:15:03Speaker 18: but sometimes as a coach, the negative results can actually
- 1:15:07Speaker 18: be your best teachers because you have a play where
- 1:15:10Speaker 18: something didn't necessarily go your way or the right way,
- 1:15:14Speaker 18: and then you learn from it. And then the biggest
- 1:15:16Speaker 18: key for us as we go forward is when we
- 1:15:18Speaker 18: learn from a mistake, is can we go out there
- 1:15:21Speaker 18: the next day and not repeat the same error. And
- 1:15:23Speaker 18: so I think he's doing a really good job of
- 1:15:26Speaker 18: digesting the information, processing the corrections when there is a
- 1:15:29Speaker 18: correction to be made, and they go out there with
- 1:15:31Speaker 18: a great attitude, mindset the next day and excited.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: I'm excited for today. Say time time he's been repeating
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: any error? Not many, not many?
- 1:15:45Speaker 18: Yeah, he's no, he's you know, he does a generally
- 1:15:49Speaker 18: he does a really good job of listening to it,
- 1:15:52Speaker 18: and then when you go out there the next time,
- 1:15:54Speaker 18: you know, and you see the same kind of look
- 1:15:57Speaker 18: or the same problem that the defense present to you
- 1:16:00Speaker 18: that was presented previously. Generally speaking, he's a quick study
- 1:16:04Speaker 18: on that. And that's a good thing for a young player.
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: You've been on this in this league for twenty flast years.
- 1:16:10Speaker 23: You know the expectations in May, June, July, August, when
- 1:16:13Speaker 23: teams and people Whitecott start saying, this guy's going to
- 1:16:16Speaker 23: have a great year, that's going to happen with Brake
- 1:16:19Speaker 23: because of the improvements you guys have made on.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: The field, in the sidelines, etc.
- 1:16:23Speaker 23: And because he's a second year player, how do you
- 1:16:25Speaker 23: prepare him for what could be extremely lofty expectations that
- 1:16:29Speaker 23: people are going to expect a return with.
- 1:16:31Speaker 18: I think if I know him very well, which I'm
- 1:16:35Speaker 18: learning more and more about him every single day, he's
- 1:16:38Speaker 18: going to place high expectations on himself.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I know that for sure.
- 1:16:42Speaker 18: We're certainly going to want to try to get the
- 1:16:43Speaker 18: best result out of our quarterback position every play that
- 1:16:46Speaker 18: we can, and I think that's all we can control.
- 1:16:50Speaker 18: We can't really control outside expectations. We're certainly going to
- 1:16:54Speaker 18: try to do the very best we can with our opportunities.
- 1:16:56Speaker 18: And I see a guy that has a great attitude
- 1:16:59Speaker 18: and mindset about coming out here and trying to be
- 1:17:01Speaker 18: the best version of himself that he can be. And
- 1:17:04Speaker 18: I know that that's what he can control. It's what
- 1:17:06Speaker 18: we can control as coaches, and hopefully we meet our expectations,
- 1:17:10Speaker 18: which will eventually meet yours.
- 1:17:12Speaker 17: In terms of the offense overall, how have you films
- 1:17:14Speaker 17: about the unit's ability to learn for the mistakes and
- 1:17:16Speaker 17: continue to grow and how helpful has it been having
- 1:17:18Speaker 17: some veterans who've been in the system maybe.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: Helps some better invests.
- 1:17:20Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean it's again, I think the mistakes are
- 1:17:24Speaker 18: are opportunities. That's how I look at him at this
- 1:17:26Speaker 18: time of the year. You know, if we make them now,
- 1:17:29Speaker 18: you hope that we learn from them, grow from them,
- 1:17:31Speaker 18: and then eventually don't make them when when they start
- 1:17:34Speaker 18: keeping score. So I think the veteran guys that have
- 1:17:37Speaker 18: had some experience in our system have have been very helpful.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: You know, they're working hard.
- 1:17:44Speaker 18: They give some little bits of advice here and there
- 1:17:48Speaker 18: when when it's necessary or applicable. But everybody's going out
- 1:17:52Speaker 18: there trying to do the best they can with their opportunities.
- 1:17:55Speaker 18: Everybody's getting reps right now, which is the great part
- 1:17:57Speaker 18: about this year, about this time of the year, and
- 1:18:00Speaker 18: go out there and make some good plays and if
- 1:18:02Speaker 18: we make a mistake, we learn from it and you
- 1:18:03Speaker 18: get better.
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: And now great moments in.
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: History.
- 1:18:19Speaker 9: That wasn't a trick play, by the way, that's a
- 1:18:21Speaker 9: that's a pass to your full back.
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: It's a little bit of it, a little bit of it.
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: Not a trick, of course, it is.
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: It's a pass to a defensive player. No, just like
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: it's a past. Just like the Bills play. It's not
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: a trick play through the ball to the tight end,
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: but it was a tackle. It's a trick play.
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: Yes, this guy was in the game as a full
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: back and the.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: Tight end, Dawkins was the tight end on that.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: So if Devlin was, if it was Devil, would that
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: have been a trick He's a.
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: Fullback, so is the land and Roberts.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: Okay, okay, so the so the Bills to play it
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: wasn't was it was a tight end.
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a trick of.
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: Course it was, of course, But that was that was
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: the guy playing out of position.
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: That you're through Rob's place all the time as a
- 1:19:01Speaker 5: full back, and you don't think the guy in my
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: buffalo is the extra tackle all the time.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: This is not a trick play. It's not a trick play.
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: So no answer the question. The guy in buffalo is
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: not the extra tackle.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: They had too eligible tackles on that play. That was
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: a trick play.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: It was a trick play, just like this one was.
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: Yes, this was your fullback.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: He's always eligible.
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: Okay, So he has to wait a minute, he has
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: to report is eligible because of his number. What is
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: the definition of his number?
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: What is the definition of a trick play to you?
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Yes, razzle dazzle, you know that type of thing.
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: There have so many rules I can't eveners.
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: That's another great moment from.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: I know I was right because Eric was on the
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: other side of the park.
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: I'm on your side.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: Landon roberts had been established as a full back.
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: Was that the fullback is always always eligible, so was
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: the tight end? Yeah, so when a tackle is playing
- 1:19:56Speaker 6: tight end, he's.
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: Always he's always out.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: I understand.
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: But in this it was a argument or no, this
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: is the same thing.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: In this case, a.
- 1:20:03Speaker 9: Landon Roberts had been established as a full back. If
- 1:20:06Speaker 9: you had scouted in the way.
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: In the extra tackle, was a tight end has established his.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: So maybe that's not trickery either.
- 1:20:12Speaker 9: Okay, So if you said scouted the Patriots like, oh,
- 1:20:16Speaker 9: if the Landon robertson as a full back, they throwed
- 1:20:18Speaker 9: them they you know, that's not a trick once.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: It's not a trick once.
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: Paul is right about that.
- 1:20:24Speaker 8: But I agree with Fred because he was playing full
- 1:20:27Speaker 8: back regularly and it wasn't like a tricky formation or
- 1:20:30Speaker 8: anything like that it was. He leaked out in the flat,
- 1:20:33Speaker 8: nobody covered him because he was a linebacker playing full
- 1:20:36Speaker 8: back and he was wide open.
- 1:20:37Speaker 6: My argument was that it's either a trick player or
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: it's not. There's no differentiation between like the tackle is
- 1:20:44Speaker 6: the third tackle, like like Nate Soldier, was that not
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: a trick play when he caught the touchdown and I Championship?
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: If if you say no, then I'm fine with saying
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: that that this is indeed.
- 1:20:53Speaker 8: Them Sure I would say that that's more of a
- 1:20:55Speaker 8: trick play, but that was that's mostly because they're going unbalanced,
- 1:20:59Speaker 8: and like it's a formation like this was.
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: This was a regular formation.
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: I think it's kind of Tricky's three.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: That's what I think. There's similarity.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: Also, was playing kind of the same position he usually plays.
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: Right, doesn't usually play full back. He played like fifteen
- 1:21:15Speaker 6: plays a fullback.
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: He threw it to him once.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: That's a lot fifteen plays.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: He played a lot of sort of tackles.
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: But the third tackle with it, you don't think they
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: did it fifteen times last year with a third tackle?
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: Yeah, tackle eligible right right.
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: And they throw it to you once, but you're out
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: there a lot.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's different.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: Well, this is one of those times where we agree.
- 1:21:38Speaker 8: I I would say that also a Landon Roberts uh
- 1:21:42Speaker 8: delivered one of the best quotes of all time for
- 1:21:44Speaker 8: any page. Yeah, but he was about to run through
- 1:21:47Speaker 8: my m effing face one time because I asked him
- 1:21:50Speaker 8: about playing full back and he did not like the
- 1:21:54Speaker 8: line of questioning.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: He did not like, he did not want to I'm
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: a linebacker. Don't ever refer to me as a fallback
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: at so.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: But I was like, bro, you're doing great at fullback.
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: He just kind of touchdown.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: Yeah, And I had a great.
- 1:22:09Speaker 8: Relationship with him, but that I remember being in those
- 1:22:12Speaker 8: scrums where he was like my position out literally like
- 1:22:16Speaker 8: stopped calling me, like, don't ever refer to me as
- 1:22:18Speaker 8: the fullback.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: I was like, dude, you're kind of killing it.
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: They like, what do you mean? You got to touch
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: the ball?
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: That's a good thing.
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: Yeah, Funny I missed a lot not being in the
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: locker room when we started doing the pre and post games.
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: I missed a lot of that.
- 1:22:29Speaker 8: Just for the record, Landa. Roberts great guy. I'm not
- 1:22:31Speaker 8: I don't want to get the wrong He was great.
- 1:22:34Speaker 8: You know, he's from He went to Houston. He what
- 1:22:37Speaker 8: an unbelievable rundown. He gave us where to go in Houston.
- 1:22:41Speaker 8: Oh yeah, you know before that Super Bowl he was great, nice,
- 1:22:44Speaker 8: really nice guy.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: Marcus Jones does not his and Landa Roberson a tense guy.
- 1:22:49Speaker 8: But Marcus Jones also like when you ask him, like
- 1:22:51Speaker 8: you ever think about playing receiver full time, He'll immediately
- 1:22:54Speaker 8: shut that down too.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: He's like, no, I'm a corner. Yeah, I'm not doing that.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: Shut your mouth. I eight five five pass five hundred
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: is the hotline. Let's go to it. Dominiques in New York.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: What's up, Dominique, y'all?
- 1:23:06Speaker 15: How you doing?
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:23:08Speaker 12: They're good, all right.
- 1:23:09Speaker 19: First and foremost, there's a little bit of soap talk already.
- 1:23:12Speaker 19: I got to stay and recommend to anyone if you're
- 1:23:14Speaker 19: still using the loofer or body strip or whatever, make
- 1:23:17Speaker 19: sure it's silicone. It works perfectly.
- 1:23:19Speaker 9: Well.
- 1:23:19Speaker 19: I can't get so much in the soaf totate because
- 1:23:21Speaker 19: I'm like a body watch guy, so mesa man phenomenal
- 1:23:25Speaker 19: doctor Burner's phenomenal phenomenon in.
- 1:23:28Speaker 15: That you know that's that?
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: Okay silic?
- 1:23:31Speaker 19: Yes, I gotta try, but you're just a quick question.
- 1:23:36Speaker 19: So but y'all, I know the NFL has a has
- 1:23:39Speaker 19: awards for obviously offensive player of the year, defensive player
- 1:23:42Speaker 19: of the Year. I think they have the Big Suckets
- 1:23:43Speaker 19: Awards for the pros as well. I know they do
- 1:23:45Speaker 19: it in college. Would you like to see other awards
- 1:23:48Speaker 19: similar to the Big Buckets awards, like applied to the
- 1:23:51Speaker 19: sensor backfield, running backs, wide receivers, et cetera, et cetera.
- 1:23:55Speaker 19: Or do you think that would like kind of make
- 1:23:57Speaker 19: it a little bit too crowded in terms of wards
- 1:23:59Speaker 19: giving out the of the year and then just the
- 1:24:01Speaker 19: last point, Alex is great. This raised my favorite album
- 1:24:07Speaker 19: for the squad, and I'll.
- 1:24:08Speaker 9: Take it off, all right, thanks Domini. So expanding the
- 1:24:11Speaker 9: award categories in the pros so they added a.
- 1:24:14Speaker 8: Protector of the Year award, but often single individual offensive
- 1:24:18Speaker 8: line award, which is I think more than enough.
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: Like I think if we do every position, it's getting
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: a little crazy.
- 1:24:23Speaker 9: In college when they have like the Dick Buckis Award,
- 1:24:26Speaker 9: is there also like a committee and a dinner and
- 1:24:29Speaker 9: a way to make money off of that too.
- 1:24:31Speaker 8: Yeah, And like there's like the Mackie Award for the
- 1:24:33Speaker 8: tight ends, right, the Billet and cop for the receivers and.
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: Every position.
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: Quarterback one. I forget what it's called.
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: Is it Doak Walker or one of those?
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: Maybe? Yeah, it might be probably not.
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: I agree with Evan generally, I would say i'd be
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: opening like a Kicker award. I think that'd be kind
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: of fun.
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: Like Kicker, I think there are too many awards.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: Pull back.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: What would you pull back on?
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: Offensive and Defensive Player.
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: Of the Year. What would I eliminate in the NFL
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: come Back the Year?
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: Yeah, what are you coming back?
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: What are you coming back from?
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: Well, that one's like war.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:25:07Speaker 11: I can't say.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: I can't somebody went.
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: Rocky if it's coming back round, right.
- 1:25:19Speaker 8: The issue with that award is that it it some
- 1:25:22Speaker 8: people get nominated that are really most improved and not
- 1:25:27Speaker 8: necessarily comeback. So NBA has the most Improved Player Award,
- 1:25:31Speaker 8: which I think might be more what the NFL is
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: going for, But they just call it the Comeback Player
- 1:25:37Speaker 8: of the Year, and usually it's somebody coming off a
- 1:25:39Speaker 8: major injury as bounce back.
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: Smith should have got an award came back complete football
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: and a mangled deform lower leg like that that almost died.
- 1:25:48Speaker 8: Yeah, guys, I don't care for offensive and defensive Rookie
- 1:25:53Speaker 8: of the Year.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: There's one. To me, there's one Rookie of the Year.
- 1:25:57Speaker 8: I like, like, I don't I don't under stand that
- 1:26:01Speaker 8: why we differentiate offense defense.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: It's like m v P. Right, there's not offensive m
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: VP and defensive MVP. There's just m v P. Yeah,
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: So like, I don't know why that award is split
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: into two.
- 1:26:10Speaker 8: But I do like the offensive line award because they're
- 1:26:13Speaker 8: never going to win any of these things, So like
- 1:26:15Speaker 8: have award that just recognizes offensive line because they're never
- 1:26:18Speaker 8: winning Rookie of the Year.
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: They're winning MVP.
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: Because they're never going to be in line for any
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: of those awards, so give them an award.
- 1:26:25Speaker 10: But I think you could also argue that it'd be
- 1:26:26Speaker 10: way more rare for a defensive player to win Defensive
- 1:26:31Speaker 10: Rookie of the Year if it's not separated.
- 1:26:33Speaker 11: That's like it would just go defall to offensive.
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: Yeah that's flashy, Yeah you're gonna get all right.
- 1:26:42Speaker 4: No, see, I don't know about that.
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: You can get a DePoy without leading.
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: Maybe like a corner if he has like a picks
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: and pick sixes.
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: Like I think a defensive player could have been the
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Rookie of the Year.
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying you would have to agree,
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: like m VP would be hard to do.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: London is in Great Barrington. What's up London?
- 1:27:04Speaker 24: He know, guys, Yeah, no, no fight, I mean today,
- 1:27:07Speaker 24: you know, I mean, it's too beautiful to be angry.
- 1:27:10Speaker 19: So yeah, but I just wanted told you guys a
- 1:27:13Speaker 19: little bit about the wide.
- 1:27:14Speaker 24: Receiver room, Like how do you guys see that shaken out?
- 1:27:17Speaker 24: You know, how many players do you think they're gonna carry?
- 1:27:18Speaker 24: Because I don't know Evan. I don't know if you
- 1:27:21Speaker 24: followed Pat stuff, but he's a really good follow Like
- 1:27:24Speaker 24: he just guys, I don't know if he's a.
- 1:27:25Speaker 15: Conned theologist or what, but this guy really gets into
- 1:27:28Speaker 15: like the you know, the disp body mechanics of each
- 1:27:32Speaker 15: players at that. Yeah, just to shout out another guy
- 1:27:36Speaker 15: in the community, you know what I mean.
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: I wouldn't have gest that, you know, he would be
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: running but.
- 1:27:43Speaker 15: But yeah, he said something about Shawn Boobie or whatever that. Yeah,
- 1:27:48Speaker 15: he played, but he's like better at leveraging going inside,
- 1:27:53Speaker 15: like on flats and stuff, you know, like he's like
- 1:27:56Speaker 15: a poor man's landry on the Browns or like Juju
- 1:28:00Speaker 15: Smith Schusta, if you will, But as one of the
- 1:28:03Speaker 15: how you see that shaking out? Like especially with like
- 1:28:08Speaker 15: he had Polk And what's the other guy that we.
- 1:28:12Speaker 7: Just picked up, the free agent Holland Bill?
- 1:28:16Speaker 15: He had Holland's on the starting off on the pub,
- 1:28:20Speaker 15: you know, and could I just wanted to wondering, how'd
- 1:28:23Speaker 15: you guys see that shaking out? Kendrick I'm Warris to
- 1:28:25Speaker 15: Kendrick Bourne. I think I think he would be good
- 1:28:28Speaker 15: because he had a great yield.
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: How many is he goes? All right, just curious about
- 1:28:32Speaker 7: your opinions.
- 1:28:33Speaker 15: On that guy.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: Okay, all right, thanks London and Great Barrington. I think
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: it's all on.
- 1:28:37Speaker 9: Threw me off because I said, okay, his name is London,
- 1:28:40Speaker 9: but it's from Great Barrington, Rhode Island. But then he
- 1:28:42Speaker 9: came on and he had like a UK accent, so.
- 1:28:46Speaker 11: Could be Great Barrington Mass to.
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: Mass.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: How many great great parenton Mass but only one is great?
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: How do you feel the wide receiver room will shake out?
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: I think it starts with Health million dollars.
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I starts with Health with Diggs because I think
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: that's a spot that if he starts on pup, they'll
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: have an extra spot to carry someone else.
- 1:29:07Speaker 9: So you really have to look at like, how will
- 1:29:09Speaker 9: it look in November, because I think he'll keep these guys,
- 1:29:12Speaker 9: could start on pup that he mentioned.
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: Yeah, that's definitely a possibility.
- 1:29:16Speaker 11: Makes a decision a little easier for them, and.
- 1:29:18Speaker 6: I feel come off as really disrespect The only thing
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: I really concerned myself with is Digs is if he
- 1:29:26Speaker 6: is good enough to be their best I don't care
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: who the other five are. If he's not, then they
- 1:29:32Speaker 6: have trouble. That room is not good enough.
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I think there's always a there's a
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: place for Pop. I think there's definitely a place for
- 1:29:38Speaker 5: for Polk.
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: I don't. I don't.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: I think he's trending towards being ready.
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: I'm not sure that.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: I think Kyle Williams is a lock.
- 1:29:47Speaker 8: Yeah, Kyle Williams and Diggs are going to be on
- 1:29:49Speaker 8: the team. Whether Dig starts on Pop will find out.
- 1:29:52Speaker 8: But I think everything else is That's what I was
- 1:29:55Speaker 8: going to say.
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: This is what I like about it is what we
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: talked about last week is let them compete and let
- 1:30:02Speaker 6: it be survival of the fittest, and if Booty is
- 1:30:04Speaker 6: better than Born, then he stays. If he's not, then
- 1:30:07Speaker 6: Bowen stays. Or if they're both better than Polk and Baker,
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: then those two stay. And like I can make an
- 1:30:14Speaker 6: argument for any of those players. And we talked a
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: little bit about Douglas and Chisholm last week. If Chisholm's
- 1:30:21Speaker 6: better than Douglas, keep Chisholm.
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: Yeah. I'm a little disappointed in how we've seen limited
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: three practices, but just a little bit disappointing Jabon Baker.
- 1:30:29Speaker 5: I was hoping that maybe he'd turn a page and that,
- 1:30:31Speaker 5: you know, so he's still got some time, but it's
- 1:30:34Speaker 5: it's it's tough. They realized there's twelve guys in the room.
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: Six probably are going to stay. I think Mac Collins
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: is probably more of a lock than than some people think.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: I think they have a specific purpose for him.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: Is it one of your guys, Paul? I think maybe
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: Gilardi said that he could be.
- 1:30:49Speaker 6: I've had a couple of people tell me that they
- 1:30:51Speaker 6: have him as a surprise cut candidate. Mac Collins, I'd
- 1:30:55Speaker 6: be I'd be genuinely surprised, and I'm not making fun
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: of that. Well, that's the you don't say a surprise
- 1:31:02Speaker 6: cut is you know, John Giles, that's not a surprise cut.
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: Right, But I would just be I'm aduced with Matt Collins.
- 1:31:10Speaker 8: He might not be one of the five or six
- 1:31:13Speaker 8: best guys, but I think his leadership and his like
- 1:31:15Speaker 8: veteran experience is something that they genuinely surprised, right, so
- 1:31:20Speaker 8: they if it's close between like him and you know,
- 1:31:24Speaker 8: one of the draft picks from last year or something
- 1:31:26Speaker 8: like just having the veteran in the room and the
- 1:31:29Speaker 8: adult in the room by just I feel like that's
- 1:31:31Speaker 8: why he's here. He's kind of here, like no offense
- 1:31:34Speaker 8: to his skill set or anything, but he's kind of
- 1:31:36Speaker 8: here to to babysit a lot of these.
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: So we'll see how it works out. We'll have a
- 1:31:40Speaker 6: chance to watch, you know, the entirety of training camp.
- 1:31:43Speaker 6: But just spitballing Diggs, Williams, Douglas Booty.
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: That's the four.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: I would say, that's you know, that's Matt.
- 1:31:57Speaker 6: Collins and has five chishm is six, So no room
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: for Baker Baker Born.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: Yeah, we're all okay.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: Now I know I'm going to go.
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: I'll go down with a ship on Polk. I think
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: he's gonna make it. I think he'll I totally respect
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: the debate on that.
- 1:32:16Speaker 6: Another thing that I've been hearing a lot, and I
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: heard this on my shows as I was driving home
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: last week. A lot of people they don't have room
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: for Polk on the roster. So I don't know if
- 1:32:26Speaker 6: this is coming from inside.
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:32:27Speaker 6: People are just like throwing it out there because I
- 1:32:30Speaker 6: think it's easy to watch these Ota practices and Polk
- 1:32:33Speaker 6: isn't physically ready to play yet, so you put him
- 1:32:35Speaker 6: on the back burn and you say he's not going
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: to make it.
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: That's not fair. He hasn't really practiced yet.
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: But I there's too many people telling me that they
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: don't think Polk is a lock for the roster for
- 1:32:46Speaker 6: me not to think I don't think.
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: He's a lot.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: I don't know if he's a lock.
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: I just my opinion. I think he's going to have
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: a good camp and he's going to make the team
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: and he's going to contribute.
- 1:32:55Speaker 25: I look at it, well, I think if if like
- 1:32:58Speaker 25: I'd be, that's coming from it, that he has a
- 1:33:01Speaker 25: good camp, it makes these no no that Polk wasn't
- 1:33:05Speaker 25: a rabel guy last year, like usually your second round pick,
- 1:33:09Speaker 25: you give him a couple of years, and I think
- 1:33:11Speaker 25: those people are saying Rabel has no connection to him.
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he'll make the team.
- 1:33:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd be stunned if he's really I don't really
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: good he's going to make the team.
- 1:33:20Speaker 11: And not only to that point you just made Fred.
- 1:33:22Speaker 10: Not only does he have no connection to him, but
- 1:33:24Speaker 10: you can go back and see how he kind of
- 1:33:26Speaker 10: handled adversity in his rookie year and I mean left
- 1:33:30Speaker 10: a lot to be desired in my opinion.
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm giving him a chance again. I I mean,
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: I look at it. What skill sets do these guys
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: bring to the team, And in a perfect world, I
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: think you want Jalen Polk's skill set on this team.
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: I think he's one of the bigger, stronger receivers that
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: they have. Now, again, he hadn't d Alex's point. He
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: didn't live up to that last year. We saw a
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: little bit of it in training camp. But I think
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: that's a great player to debate about. I mean, you
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: can say, I don't think. I'm not saying he's a lock.
- 1:33:54Speaker 15: I'm not.
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: You know, I don't.
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: I don't other than the four guys you said, But
- 1:33:57Speaker 5: I do believe in his skill set, and I think
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: he has something to offer.
- 1:34:01Speaker 9: This discreper Anthony from Cape Coral right said, player one
- 1:34:05Speaker 9: has thirty seven catches, four hundred and eighty one yards,
- 1:34:08Speaker 9: two touchdowns. The player is Nico Collins. Player two has
- 1:34:12Speaker 9: forty three catches, five hundred and eighty nine yards and
- 1:34:15Speaker 9: three touchdowns. The player is Kayshawn Bouody. My point for
- 1:34:19Speaker 9: this is all the people that want Booty gone, he
- 1:34:22Speaker 9: has shown progress. Why would we not let him continue competing.
- 1:34:26Speaker 9: It's possible he could continue to develop into a more
- 1:34:28Speaker 9: productive receiver.
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: Not saying he's Nico Collins or what year with those
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: I don't know. It doesn't say.
- 1:34:34Speaker 8: Nico Collins early on in his career at his slower burn.
- 1:34:37Speaker 8: But year two there's there's Dagus Mills quarterback. And there's
- 1:34:41Speaker 8: also different compare like the situations in the rooms were different,
- 1:34:45Speaker 8: Like kay Kasehon Boody had the opportunity, you know, right
- 1:34:49Speaker 8: out of the gate, whereas I don't think that was
- 1:34:51Speaker 8: the case for Nico Collins with Houston.
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: You know, Nico Collins kind of had.
- 1:34:55Speaker 8: To earn a role, whereas last year that's like you
- 1:34:58Speaker 8: look around in the wide receiver room and it's not
- 1:35:00Speaker 8: much competition, right, So, but I hear what he's saying
- 1:35:03Speaker 8: on like, I don't want to give up on Kijan
- 1:35:05Speaker 8: Booty either, But I don't necessarily look at Keisean Booty
- 1:35:09Speaker 8: and say, well, he's going to take another step and
- 1:35:12Speaker 8: all of a sudden he's going to be a thousand guy.
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: This is kind of what he is.
- 1:35:15Speaker 4: The more I see Booty, the more he grows on me.
- 1:35:18Speaker 11: Yeah, he's I think he's really making the most of
- 1:35:20Speaker 11: OTA's right now.
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: He Yeah.
- 1:35:22Speaker 9: I just don't.
- 1:35:25Speaker 6: Collins thing to me falls flat. They're not They're not
- 1:35:27Speaker 6: similar in any way, like they're not really it's easy to.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: Pull the stats.
- 1:35:32Speaker 5: I mean, and Nico Collins had that breakout game here, right,
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: was that in the preseason where all of a sudden
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: he just seemed like it was really starting to click
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: for him like that Maybe that.
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: Was just for me, but that's what we're going on.
- 1:35:40Speaker 15: Like c J.
- 1:35:41Speaker 6: Stroud came in and all of a sudden he became
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: a reson game. I wonder how that works. But Booty
- 1:35:46Speaker 6: had Drake May, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:35:48Speaker 8: And Booty is the most of the Booty and and
- 1:35:50Speaker 8: Drake May I think have developed a pretty nice chemistry,
- 1:35:53Speaker 8: which is one thing that's in his favor, you know,
- 1:35:55Speaker 8: as a holdover from last year, and they have a
- 1:35:58Speaker 8: little bit of a rapport. He runs the routes, Drake
- 1:36:00Speaker 8: May likes to throw you know, out on the outside,
- 1:36:02Speaker 8: whether it's the go routes or the corners or things
- 1:36:04Speaker 8: like that, so they have a nice feel to their
- 1:36:07Speaker 8: game together. I'm not ready to give up on Keijh.
- 1:36:09Speaker 8: On Booty, I just would say five hundred and six
- 1:36:12Speaker 8: hundred yards is kind of where I think his career
- 1:36:14Speaker 8: is going to be. Like, I just don't necessarily think
- 1:36:17Speaker 8: that there's another step for him, but maybe there will be,
- 1:36:20Speaker 8: and I would keep him on the team as of now.
- 1:36:22Speaker 8: I just think, you know, with Jalen Polk, it's not
- 1:36:25Speaker 8: even health. I just there's just no precedent for having
- 1:36:30Speaker 8: the rookie season that he had and then being good.
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: Well, let's put it this way.
- 1:36:34Speaker 9: If if it's Digs and Kyle Williams and Booty has
- 1:36:38Speaker 9: five hundred six hundred yards, that's great.
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great.
- 1:36:42Speaker 9: Right, let me know what Digs and Well, no, then
- 1:36:44Speaker 9: you're one and two and they have one and two
- 1:36:46Speaker 9: receiver numbers.
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: So you think Williams and rookie Year is going to
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: be more than six hundred yards.
- 1:36:52Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe, Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:36:54Speaker 8: If it'll be that good, But like I always think
- 1:36:56Speaker 8: about it, like you know, with Booty, you know, can
- 1:36:59Speaker 8: he be Dante's stall Worth to you know the rest
- 1:37:02Speaker 8: of the group, like in the seven right where he's
- 1:37:04Speaker 8: really he's truly the third or fourth guy, but he's
- 1:37:07Speaker 8: out there and when he's open, he gets.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: The ball and he makes plays, makes them plays like that.
- 1:37:12Speaker 4: That's how I view Booty, Gaffney Stalwart.
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, he might even be the better one.
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: Those guys were good value.
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: Yeah, Digson Williams. Digson Williams are the only two that
- 1:37:24Speaker 5: I think are one hundred percent absolute locks. And I
- 1:37:26Speaker 5: would hear other comments on any of the other receivers.
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: Doesn't mean I don't like Booty. I think I grew
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: with Paul. He's really came on in this cam. Like
- 1:37:34Speaker 5: Paul said, let him compete, Yeah, no, survive be injury
- 1:37:38Speaker 5: you don't see coming.
- 1:37:39Speaker 11: Let him say, have any inclinations. What Polk's even dealing
- 1:37:43Speaker 11: with right now?
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: It's his shoulder and.
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: He got in a little bit with a yellow pinion
- 1:37:47Speaker 5: into one of the team periods.
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: So I think he's trending towards being ready.
- 1:37:50Speaker 8: Yeah, it's not even like I said, it's not the
- 1:37:52Speaker 8: injury like I think he'll be. He'll have his opportunity
- 1:37:55Speaker 8: to try to make the team and make.
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: A push and and all that.
- 1:37:58Speaker 8: I just, you know, just I've looked at the numbers
- 1:38:01Speaker 8: and like a guy that catches twelve passes.
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: And a.
- 1:38:06Speaker 9: Last year was an abject failure for him, but it
- 1:38:08Speaker 9: was there was something going on and maybe he can
- 1:38:11Speaker 9: turn it around.
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: I'm not saying he can't.
- 1:38:13Speaker 8: I'm just saying he would be an absolute anomaly to
- 1:38:16Speaker 8: go from the production he had last year to a
- 1:38:18Speaker 8: productive NFL player.
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: And I don't know if they have the time, but
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: along those.
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: Lines, like he's an absolute anomaly already for me, in
- 1:38:26Speaker 5: the production he had in camp to absolutely doing nothing.
- 1:38:28Speaker 5: So I don't know, it's just it's weird.
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: I watched the Taekwon Thornton. Yeah, I watched the same
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: thing with Tyekwon Thornton when he was a rookie. He
- 1:38:35Speaker 6: he was very productive campressed with.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: So hard running, but he didn't catch a lot of
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: balls in camp.
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: Yeah, caught everything thrown his way.
- 1:38:46Speaker 6: He didn't catch the four yard passes that Polpe did,
- 1:38:48Speaker 6: but he went down the field and car I wasn't.
- 1:38:50Speaker 11: Impressed that taekwon to It's like a thing of physics, like,
- 1:38:52Speaker 11: how can you be that skinny?
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: No, no, I'm just telling you. As a rookie in
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: training camp, he looked a part.
- 1:38:59Speaker 6: I did not call him a bust based on his
- 1:39:01Speaker 6: rookie year, and I just I wasn't overly impressed with
- 1:39:05Speaker 6: Pop's training camp. Last year was another one that I was,
- 1:39:09Speaker 6: you know, off in the ether, the old guy yelling
- 1:39:11Speaker 6: into the you know, the.
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: Wilderness that no one was listening to.
- 1:39:15Speaker 6: I would agree with Evan. I'm not telling I don't
- 1:39:17Speaker 6: predict the future. I can't tell you what's going to happen.
- 1:39:20Speaker 6: I'm just telling you based on what I've seen, I
- 1:39:22Speaker 6: don't see the ability. That's why i'd be surprised if
- 1:39:25Speaker 6: he was overly productive. I don't see like, not to
- 1:39:29Speaker 6: go all analytic, I don't see a plus skill set.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: What is it?
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: What is it that he does?
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: What It's like the Red Sox right now? What did
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: a Red Sox do well?
- 1:39:36Speaker 12: Nothing?
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: They do nothing? But what.
- 1:39:41Speaker 6: I thought he was gonna be sort of like a
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: physical possession kind of receiver. He started dropping the ball
- 1:39:47Speaker 6: all the time, so I'm not even sure he does
- 1:39:50Speaker 6: that well. I don't think he runs away from people.
- 1:39:52Speaker 6: I don't think he runs great routes, and I don't
- 1:39:53Speaker 6: think he has a great attitude. So I'd be very,
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: very surprised if he turns out to be a productive player.
- 1:39:58Speaker 8: The separation stuff in college was the big question if
- 1:40:02Speaker 8: he was gonna his success or failure was going to
- 1:40:05Speaker 8: hang on whether he could get open at this level,
- 1:40:07Speaker 8: you know, with his speed and with his athleticism, and
- 1:40:10Speaker 8: that that piece of it didn't necessarily translate. So now
- 1:40:14Speaker 8: everything is finishing through contact at the catch point, right,
- 1:40:17Speaker 8: He's going to be in crowds, he's going to have
- 1:40:18Speaker 8: coverage on him, and can that skill set translate the
- 1:40:21Speaker 8: hands and the play strength at the catchpoint, And when
- 1:40:24Speaker 8: it didn't as a rookie, like to Paul's point, that
- 1:40:27Speaker 8: was just worrisome. So if that's not going to be
- 1:40:29Speaker 8: his calling card is the strong hands and the ability
- 1:40:32Speaker 8: to box guys out and things like that, and he's
- 1:40:34Speaker 8: not going to separate, you know, then how is he
- 1:40:36Speaker 8: going to be ultra productive in the NFL. I'm not
- 1:40:39Speaker 8: trying like I'm not trying to bury the guy.
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: But I just.
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: Right. But last year they said to themselves that they're
- 1:40:46Speaker 5: thrusting him into being like the guy, and he couldn't
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: handle it, so it mentally fell apart. I think Fred's thing.
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: If Diggs and Williams are productive, you don't have to
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: worry about him running away from guys. He can work underneath.
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: I like him in a call implementary role more than
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: I like Booie.
- 1:41:02Speaker 6: I would I would worry about his mentality if he
- 1:41:04Speaker 6: was that. I think he thinks he's much better than that.
- 1:41:08Speaker 6: I worry about him, But.
- 1:41:09Speaker 5: I also think you're basing that. I think you're basing
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: that on him, saying I think I have the best
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: hands in the NFL, and and that you catch a
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: rookie in a bad moment, trying to stay confident, and
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: I believe in myself and I can do what I
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: want and you want, and you can take that as that,
- 1:41:24Speaker 5: or you can take it out. This guy's head's in
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: the clouds and he has no idea what he's doing.
- 1:41:28Speaker 5: I took it that now, this is a rookie kid
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: who's not who isn't quite polished. He's having tough times
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: right now.
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: And he misspoke a little bit.
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: I'm not holding that against Parabot.
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: Was like a one time thing that he misspoke a
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: little bit.
- 1:41:40Speaker 6: I think he had had his feet down, he said
- 1:41:42Speaker 6: I I never even put on a game uniform. He
- 1:41:45Speaker 6: told the media that he didn't need the fans with
- 1:41:47Speaker 6: them because they're not with them. If you're not with them,
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: we don't need you, Like he rubbed me the wrong
- 1:41:52Speaker 6: way before.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: Before.
- 1:41:53Speaker 10: The first thing for me was when he undermined the
- 1:41:56Speaker 10: head coach. When the head coach was trying to smooth
- 1:41:59Speaker 10: over take the pressure off him. There was some undermined
- 1:42:02Speaker 10: mayo and it's like your coach is trying to keep
- 1:42:05Speaker 10: you a foot here with the media.
- 1:42:07Speaker 11: Just go along with it, don't.
- 1:42:09Speaker 6: And I also want to be fair because there are
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: things that worry me about Booty in that regard too.
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: And he had another one.
- 1:42:16Speaker 6: That I thought showed a lack of sort of awareness
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: last week in the aftermath of the Digs thing. I
- 1:42:25Speaker 6: think he spoke that day and he told us all, yeah,
- 1:42:29Speaker 6: Diggs hasn't been around much. I don't think that he
- 1:42:31Speaker 6: should have said that, like something I just I worry
- 1:42:34Speaker 6: a little bit about the mentality.
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:42:37Speaker 6: The reason I'm okay with Booty it is because I
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: think he's produced. Yea, so he might not always talk
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: the way I think that the maybe it's I've been
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: ingrained and listening to Patriots talk over the years. Well,
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: Polk has sort of put his foot in his mouth
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: a few times, and he hasn't produced. You know, he
- 1:42:55Speaker 6: insisted that he caught the ball in San Francisco, he didn't.
- 1:42:58Speaker 6: He insisted that he caught the touchdown in my against Miami,
- 1:43:01Speaker 6: he didn't. I think Alex brings up a great point
- 1:43:04Speaker 6: about Gerard sort of saying, you know, you're kind of
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: like mentally he's fighting it a little bit.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: No, not like I don't. I don't have mental problems.
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: Like there were a lot of examples.
- 1:43:14Speaker 6: Of him showing the lack of awareness and maturity last year,
- 1:43:17Speaker 6: not just the one time where where he claims he
- 1:43:20Speaker 6: had the best hands in the league.
- 1:43:22Speaker 10: And it goes back to you, this is part of
- 1:43:23Speaker 10: why mac collins is here this year. Like, maybe with
- 1:43:25Speaker 10: better leadership, none of these issues maturity.
- 1:43:29Speaker 8: But I don't think that you know that none of
- 1:43:31Speaker 8: the reasons why I am concerned about Polka's foot, Paul
- 1:43:35Speaker 8: is necessarily saying, I just we knew coming into the
- 1:43:38Speaker 8: league that he wasn't going to be a great separator.
- 1:43:41Speaker 8: And if his hands are not what's carrying him and
- 1:43:44Speaker 8: his play strength and his physicality is and what carrying.
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: Him, then what's carrying him?
- 1:43:48Speaker 12: Right?
- 1:43:48Speaker 8: And like that, that would any player that you have
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: to have a carrying trade, like what's the one thing
- 1:43:53Speaker 8: that you do better than everybody else that makes you
- 1:43:56Speaker 8: can hang your hat on and say that this is
- 1:43:58Speaker 8: how I'm going to succeed in the league. And if
- 1:44:00Speaker 8: that comes back around, if he goes back to playing
- 1:44:03Speaker 8: the way he was at Washington in terms of the
- 1:44:05Speaker 8: physicality and the hands and all that good stuff, then
- 1:44:08Speaker 8: he could definitely start to come on.
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: I just I haven't seen that yet as well.
- 1:44:13Speaker 6: Yeah, and just to be clear, the other stuff that
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: worries me is in the scenario that Mike sort of unfolded,
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: if all these guys come in at the top and
- 1:44:23Speaker 6: they push him down, I don't know if he's a
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: guy that would, like Matt Collins, is perfectly content to
- 1:44:29Speaker 6: go out there and catch the one target he gets
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: a game. Yeah, I'm not sure. Polk fits that kind
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: of mold. I think he thinks he's more than that,
- 1:44:38Speaker 6: and I would worry about him. If he's the fourth
- 1:44:39Speaker 6: or fifth receiver and you're not asking him to do much,
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: does he go in the tank?
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: Well it's interesting because when the off field stuff, would
- 1:44:47Speaker 6: he learned humility.
- 1:44:48Speaker 8: Because he was he was in a crowded room at Washington.
- 1:44:52Speaker 8: So that's like what makes it interesting, Like he clearly
- 1:44:55Speaker 8: was not the number one at Washington, like real Madoonese
- 1:44:57Speaker 8: was the number one.
- 1:44:58Speaker 6: And Jalen McMillan was the number two into we got hurt, right,
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: Otherwise we wouldn't even be talking about.
- 1:45:02Speaker 8: Yeah, So I find that part interesting because he has
- 1:45:05Speaker 8: been sort of not necessarily complimentary, is probably a little strong,
- 1:45:09Speaker 8: but he has been part of a group instead of
- 1:45:12Speaker 8: just being the guy like a lot of guys like Jalen,
- 1:45:15Speaker 8: you're at a different something, if you're at a different school,
- 1:45:18Speaker 8: then Jalen Polk is the number one receiver in college,
- 1:45:21Speaker 8: but he wasn't, so I don't know a bad school.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: I'd be curious.
- 1:45:25Speaker 5: I'd be curious what Josh thinks of him as a
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: player and how Josh thinks he could use him. But
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: I think an element we're not talking about is the
- 1:45:31Speaker 5: fact that they had a terrible offense last year with
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: not great coaching as well. So you know, those weren't
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: the guys to pull him out of a funk, and
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: clearly they pushed the wrong buttons to get him.
- 1:45:40Speaker 9: Let's go back to what Elliott Wolfe said at the
- 1:45:43Speaker 9: end of the season. You know, we were counting on it,
- 1:45:47Speaker 9: and he was talking about the coaching.
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: No and he's primably sample and everything Paul said is right,
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: Like I mean, you know, you can read into it.
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: I think I air sometimes more on the side of
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: these are young kids all of a sudden thrust in
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: the spotlight, and they're trying to project confidence in themselves
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: and their team, and you know, we were doing this
- 1:46:03Speaker 5: together and they have that mindset, and it comes across poorly.
- 1:46:06Speaker 5: Sometimes rookies are best seen and not heard less is more,
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: those things are always going to be true for the rookies.
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: So it's it's a fascinating player. I mean, I think
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: it's really fun to watch him this year because he
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: did catch a lot of balls last summer. Does he
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: not do it again or does he Let's go to.
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: Dave in Toronto. What's up, Dave? Wendy up there?
- 1:46:23Speaker 5: Huh No, you're on top of the ctower fining go
- 1:46:28Speaker 5: on the road.
- 1:46:28Speaker 15: That might be it.
- 1:46:29Speaker 26: Okay, I've been listening for seventeen eighteen years, half of
- 1:46:34Speaker 26: my life.
- 1:46:34Speaker 12: I'm thirty four years old.
- 1:46:35Speaker 26: It's a long time.
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: First time, Wow, where you been?
- 1:46:40Speaker 7: I couldn't get through for.
- 1:46:41Speaker 12: The first couple of times I tried, and I figured.
- 1:46:43Speaker 16: Listening is just easier afterwards.
- 1:46:44Speaker 26: Okay, A couple of questions for you guys, Evan. Do
- 1:46:50Speaker 26: you guys have access to the tracking data for the
- 1:46:53Speaker 26: college receivers. Is that something you guys you know see
- 1:46:57Speaker 26: before pre draft in terms of you know, speed and
- 1:47:00Speaker 26: and you know how fast you're going on the field,
- 1:47:02Speaker 26: or is that just NFL.
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: Teams some of it?
- 1:47:05Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, some of it trickles out through different
- 1:47:08Speaker 8: resources and things like that. But not like a database
- 1:47:11Speaker 8: where I could pull up any player anytime.
- 1:47:13Speaker 24: No.
- 1:47:14Speaker 26: Yeah, it's not something that's publicly available data. But that
- 1:47:20Speaker 26: is something that is out there in the ether somewhere right.
- 1:47:22Speaker 8: Yes, yes, that's true. This is like real analytics or
- 1:47:27Speaker 8: Zebra or whatever.
- 1:47:28Speaker 27: Yeah, m okay, I'm just like backing up you know,
- 1:47:32Speaker 27: you see the speed times, but then you see the
- 1:47:34Speaker 27: real field of speed times that sometimes there's a big
- 1:47:37Speaker 27: discrepency between those two things. And then I have another
- 1:47:41Speaker 27: question about the defense if you don't mind, and what
- 1:47:46Speaker 27: Babel wants to do. I think is really standing a
- 1:47:49Speaker 27: lot of pressure, especially down to the middle through Million
- 1:47:52Speaker 27: Williams and that middle of the middle of the field
- 1:47:55Speaker 27: or the middle of the defensive line.
- 1:47:57Speaker 26: Does that mean that ends are going to be pulled
- 1:47:59Speaker 26: back a little from really getting after the quarterback? Just
- 1:48:01Speaker 26: kind of secure those ends?
- 1:48:04Speaker 27: Are all four of those guys really getting after that
- 1:48:06Speaker 27: quarterback and that linebackers left to kind.
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: Of clean up with me?
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: B Yeah, second one for sure.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks Dave.
- 1:48:13Speaker 8: Yeah, I think all the defensive linemen they're going to
- 1:48:15Speaker 8: be four down and they're gonna be attacking. They played
- 1:48:17Speaker 8: a lot of like you know, unbalanced lines where they
- 1:48:20Speaker 8: had like three guys on one side of the center
- 1:48:22Speaker 8: and then just one guy on the arm side of
- 1:48:24Speaker 8: the quarterback. And they're running games and stunts and things
- 1:48:27Speaker 8: like that, and they like to get after.
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: It to get creative.
- 1:48:30Speaker 5: But I still think it's going to be a totally
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: total departure from what we're kind of used to, especially
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: on early downs where it's stop the run on the
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: way to the quarterback, get off the snap.
- 1:48:39Speaker 9: Well, I'm excited because with Carlton Davis and Gonzalez, how
- 1:48:42Speaker 9: that opens things up other people.
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: Yeah, the four down stuff's exciting.
- 1:48:46Speaker 8: Like we haven't really experienced the defense that plays four down,
- 1:48:50Speaker 8: defensive line and hand in the dirt, teeing off like
- 1:48:53Speaker 8: that's not really a Bill thing, So we haven't really
- 1:48:56Speaker 8: seen that in a while around here.
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: I think the part of that is going to be
- 1:48:59Speaker 5: there'll probably be some big plays and they're going to
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: be from time to time they're gonna get gash, they're
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: going in the sky ahead, Yeah, and they'll be there'll
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: be seams that they get exploited. But I think you'll hope.
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: The hope is you make more place than you give up.
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: Chris is in England.
- 1:49:11Speaker 12: Hey, Chris, good afternoon, good evening.
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: Good afternoon, good evening.
- 1:49:17Speaker 12: Yes Da from Toronto stelled my thunder because it's been
- 1:49:21Speaker 12: fifteen years. They'll be listening and it's the first time
- 1:49:24Speaker 12: I've called I think seventeen. First of all, just wanted
- 1:49:29Speaker 12: to say love the show as obviously listening for fifteen years.
- 1:49:33Speaker 12: You should to enjoy listening to it. Fortune in Foxborough
- 1:49:38Speaker 12: was great, thank you, although everybody, I think it will
- 1:49:41Speaker 12: be pulled a bit dirty when he had his part
- 1:49:44Speaker 12: and didn't nobody spot the wild hair that was floating
- 1:49:46Speaker 12: off the top of them at the point.
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, is what it is.
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: A straight here.
- 1:49:56Speaker 12: I just wanted to talk about walk on music.
- 1:49:58Speaker 7: If my name?
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: What's that?
- 1:50:03Speaker 12: I wanted to talk about walk on music?
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: Walk on music?
- 1:50:07Speaker 12: Yeah, you were talking last week about walk on music,
- 1:50:09Speaker 12: so I thought I would tell you what my English
- 1:50:12Speaker 12: football team, Tottenham Hots there recent European champions, come out to.
- 1:50:17Speaker 12: And I also have another song which I think will
- 1:50:19Speaker 12: make you quite a music Ford. So we come out
- 1:50:23Speaker 12: to Duel of Fates and Star Wars.
- 1:50:26Speaker 5: Okay, that's like.
- 1:50:33Speaker 12: The other song that we have that is sometimes played
- 1:50:36Speaker 12: on the PA but also just sometimes the fan sing
- 1:50:38Speaker 12: it is from your good friend Barry Manilo mhm me
- 1:50:44Speaker 12: and the idea.
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: Of what it might be pop. You just saw him
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: perform live. Now what'd he come out to?
- 1:50:53Speaker 12: So I'm going to have to sing it because we
- 1:50:54Speaker 12: have that. We've sort of interjected with the chart of Tottenham,
- 1:50:58Speaker 12: so it's you know, small.
- 1:51:08Speaker 7: Fantastic.
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:51:10Speaker 9: So when you sing it, do you have your arm
- 1:51:13Speaker 9: on each other's shoulders and you go back and forth
- 1:51:15Speaker 9: a big single yeah along the scarfs yep, the scarfs yep,
- 1:51:20Speaker 9: and then you beat the crap out of No. I
- 1:51:23Speaker 9: like it.
- 1:51:23Speaker 12: I like it, but also the last one doesn't get
- 1:51:29Speaker 12: many shouts out, but I'd like to congratulate him. A
- 1:51:31Speaker 12: couple of weeks ago you had an irishman and I
- 1:51:34Speaker 12: don't think he was talking much then, and Mac, assuming
- 1:51:38Speaker 12: Matt is the person doing it, he cleverly put on
- 1:51:40Speaker 12: thanks for nothing from Caddy shot.
- 1:51:44Speaker 9: Maybe chuckle everybody, Thanks Chris, Thanks listening for fifteen years.
- 1:51:49Speaker 8: Absolutely a couple of years for Tottenham recently, not exactly
- 1:51:53Speaker 8: at the top of the.
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: Taste that scouts team.
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: No.
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: His was Chelsea, wasn't it.
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: It's a wagoner I've ever seen one I remember.
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: Just tell about the Bundesliga. I'm like, what is that?
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: The German leg That's not That's why we were for
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: Bayern Munchin although they didn't win last year.
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: Was it a Burusha Doorman one?
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: I think so? Yeah.
- 1:52:15Speaker 9: Bill Wright saying if you could go back and watch
- 1:52:17Speaker 9: one game live for the first time, which is it one?
- 1:52:21Speaker 9: The Patriots Squished the Fish Game eighty six, Conference Finals,
- 1:52:24Speaker 9: the Celtics bird steals the ball versus Detroit. The Bruins
- 1:52:28Speaker 9: come back versus Toronto down three goals in Game seven
- 1:52:31Speaker 9: twenty thirteen, the Red Sox Game four versus Yankees to
- 1:52:35Speaker 9: start the comeback, or BC Flutie Hail Mary versus Miami.
- 1:52:40Speaker 4: Definitely the Bruins.
- 1:52:43Speaker 11: That Bruins game was unbelievable.
- 1:52:44Speaker 8: I'll never forget, Like, I feel like i'd want to
- 1:52:46Speaker 8: go back to like squish the Fishers on.
- 1:52:48Speaker 10: But do you remember watching that live? Like, yeah, into
- 1:52:51Speaker 10: the late hour. Oh god, I got to break curfew
- 1:52:53Speaker 10: that night.
- 1:52:55Speaker 5: Mine would be bird Steal Detroit.
- 1:52:59Speaker 3: It's a good one.
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: She was just to make me feel so bad about
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: myself that you had to break curfew to watch.
- 1:53:05Speaker 11: I was in high school. Yeah, I was eighteen.
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: I was in Washington, d C. I actually didn't see
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: it live.
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: Thirteen.
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: Yeah I watched that one.
- 1:53:13Speaker 8: Yeah, I definitely saw that one live. But I've seen
- 1:53:15Speaker 8: that one so like I would want to go back
- 1:53:17Speaker 8: to the games.
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: No, But I mean I get what your point. I'm
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: going to go to something.
- 1:53:21Speaker 6: I'm going to lean to it something I hadn't seen,
- 1:53:24Speaker 6: but he was saying, if you had a chance to
- 1:53:26Speaker 6: watch it, as if you had never seen it, I
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: live it as if you've.
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: But also like the tough part about that one is
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: I know they don't go on to win the Cup.
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: So it's just like that was bitter.
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: Yeah, like if you would enjoy the moment, well, it's
- 1:53:36Speaker 5: it's a spoiler, like they didn't win the Super Bowl
- 1:53:38Speaker 5: in eighty five either.
- 1:53:39Speaker 10: The eleven run where they had a game was it
- 1:53:42Speaker 10: also against forget Who, but it went into like it
- 1:53:45Speaker 10: felt like seven overtimes.
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: They've had in the Cup Final.
- 1:53:49Speaker 8: They've had quite a few games run the multiple, So
- 1:53:52Speaker 8: thirteen against the Blackhawks, they had a free overtime game.
- 1:53:56Speaker 11: It was more than that the one I'm thinking of, I.
- 1:53:58Speaker 3: Think the Blackhawks it was three.
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: I think they had a triple overtime game in the
- 1:54:02Speaker 6: ninety finals against Edmonton.
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: Peter Kleima, Peter Klema.
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: Yeah, lights and the end of the was not the
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: lights out wasn't the lights out game? No, the lights
- 1:54:13Speaker 4: out game was eighty eight.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: Oh that was two days.
- 1:54:15Speaker 9: Okay before h Dan and Virginia Michigan, while surprised this
- 1:54:21Speaker 9: is for Evan. While surprising your bride with a musical
- 1:54:24Speaker 9: performance would generally be a good thing, I would encourage
- 1:54:27Speaker 9: Evan to crunch the numbers on this one. If Jess
- 1:54:30Speaker 9: associates his saxophone with one of his former girlfriends, she
- 1:54:33Speaker 9: might regard Evan breaking out of sacks at the wedding
- 1:54:35Speaker 9: as if he thought along, as if he brought along
- 1:54:39Speaker 9: the old girlfriend.
- 1:54:40Speaker 5: No, no, he's writing, he's writing wrong.
- 1:54:42Speaker 8: Just for the record, was not an old girlfriend I
- 1:54:45Speaker 8: wish was an old your girlfriend?
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: Doubling down that girl?
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: But amazing because I think what the sacks? Maybe probably
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: I said she was she was out of my leaks.
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: It was Jess, But like you know that one I
- 1:55:00Speaker 3: got lucky dated drummers. Yeah, maybe that was what it was.
- 1:55:04Speaker 9: Speaking of Evan's dating life, I suggested on X that
- 1:55:07Speaker 9: Paul and Deuce should have a movie date with Evan
- 1:55:10Speaker 9: to go see Jaws at fifty, the definitive inside story.
- 1:55:14Speaker 9: Then I remember that movies actually aren't the best dates
- 1:55:17Speaker 9: because you can't talk to one another. So, as an
- 1:55:19Speaker 9: off season conversation topic, what are your ideas for a
- 1:55:22Speaker 9: good date or what's the best date you've been on?
- 1:55:25Speaker 8: That's a bad take movies are a great date great
- 1:55:28Speaker 8: like not like if it's like a first date, but
- 1:55:30Speaker 8: like if you if you're great date.
- 1:55:33Speaker 5: First date, coffee, get coffee and talk first.
- 1:55:35Speaker 6: Date, I think, yeah, something very low key, low pressure,
- 1:55:39Speaker 6: like not a full dinner. Yeah, just to sort of
- 1:55:42Speaker 6: get to talk and get to know each.
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: Trying to myself. Like one time in life before texting
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: and stuff, I like walked up to a girl that
- 1:55:48Speaker 5: I kind of had been talking to and just asked
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: her out on it, like you want to go out
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: on a date, And she was not that excited.
- 1:55:53Speaker 4: About I have to set before yet this is a
- 1:55:56Speaker 4: different girl.
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: This is post that was post girlfriend.
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: This is a you know, trying to But then that's
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: what we did. We just had coffee.
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: We didn't hit it off, it didn't it didn't go anywhere,
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: but I was proudly at least one time in my
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: life I walked up to a girl in person and
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: was like, would you like to go out on a
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: date with me? You know, I think it's hard to do.
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: I think young guys are terrified.
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: I think we need to get out of they don't
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: perspect it, they don't do it.
- 1:56:16Speaker 5: No, And now it's all easy because you just text
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: and you're like, you know, like you don't have to
- 1:56:20Speaker 5: ever have thesee they haven't been on an actual date
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: a long time.
- 1:56:24Speaker 10: Like I like a sports game honestly because you can,
- 1:56:28Speaker 10: like if the conversation dies off, you can watch the
- 1:56:31Speaker 10: game and tiland.
- 1:56:32Speaker 5: For a golf date.
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: Oh yeah, golfs like but then you're stuck.
- 1:56:35Speaker 11: I'm a whustler for like, I'm a hustler golf.
- 1:56:39Speaker 4: It's like I've got made fun of for saying miniature
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: golf is a great.
- 1:56:42Speaker 5: That's a great.
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: People have made fun of me. That's good. I used
- 1:56:46Speaker 4: to do that from time.
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: So when you did it, did you try to win?
- 1:56:50Speaker 21: No?
- 1:56:50Speaker 11: You just have it's not too long too. You get
- 1:56:54Speaker 11: an ice cream cone after the.
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: One for French Richardson's down.
- 1:56:58Speaker 10: I used to be like, Okay, if you're you're not
- 1:57:00Speaker 10: taking me out to dinner on the first date, you're
- 1:57:02Speaker 10: scrub and you're not trying hard enough. But then I
- 1:57:04Speaker 10: realized my time is way too valuable to be locked
- 1:57:07Speaker 10: into a dinner date.
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: That why would do the dinner followed by the miniature
- 1:57:10Speaker 4: golf a lot?
- 1:57:12Speaker 11: If it goes well, you say, hey, let's scrub dinner
- 1:57:14Speaker 11: and if not see.
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: I think minister is great for a little flirty back
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: and forth like oh you got this one?
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: I don't know, you know, like.
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: It's a lot then there is.
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: You really are something else. It's supposed to keep us
- 1:57:31Speaker 4: out of trouble.
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: Well, there's like a lot of.
- 1:57:33Speaker 9: Stuff going on with miniature golf. There's holes, there's putters,
- 1:57:36Speaker 9: you know, there's.
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: All kinds of What was the argument for people saying
- 1:57:39Speaker 5: that miniature golf is a bad date because I think
- 1:57:41Speaker 5: that's an excellent first.
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: Day, you know what they say, stupid, I agree, but
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: a good first date.
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm glad.
- 1:57:48Speaker 3: Because it's like an activity.
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: What about taking her to a sporting event?
- 1:57:54Speaker 4: That's what I said, Thanks for listening.
- 1:57:55Speaker 10: And then I get to be like, hey, I'm cool,
- 1:57:57Speaker 10: I actually know stuff about the sports.
- 1:57:59Speaker 8: Well, I feel like an activity, like you know, it's
- 1:58:02Speaker 8: probably best because like if you can't, like the conversation
- 1:58:05Speaker 8: dies down and sitting across the table from her, like
- 1:58:07Speaker 8: then what are you what next?
- 1:58:09Speaker 3: Right now?
- 1:58:09Speaker 8: So if you're mini golfing or something like that, then
- 1:58:12Speaker 8: that occupies some of the time and maybe gets some
- 1:58:14Speaker 8: of the awkwardness out.
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: You know, Okay, this is my bar should listen to
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: this part of this.
- 1:58:21Speaker 4: Travis was the kids thing to do, like, you know,
- 1:58:24Speaker 4: adults don't do that, you know.
- 1:58:26Speaker 6: I think that was kind of like the pushback and
- 1:58:29Speaker 6: it wasn't a lot but what But I had mentioned
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: it a couple of times and I was like, minute
- 1:58:34Speaker 6: golf the wrong So now I was like, why.
- 1:58:36Speaker 11: Would you want to be with someone take them?
- 1:58:37Speaker 2: Tis that?
- 1:58:38Speaker 11: Seriously?
- 1:58:40Speaker 6: I never had a girl say like, no, I'm not
- 1:58:42Speaker 6: doing that, even like like my college girlfriend was like
- 1:58:47Speaker 6: the least athletic general Nina. Sorry, not all Italian girls
- 1:58:52Speaker 6: are the same. And she loved it, like you used
- 1:58:56Speaker 6: to go minute a golfing all the time.
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: She loved it.
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: I used to go with old very at the end,
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: what could be better?
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: We could be?
- 1:59:04Speaker 9: Afterwards, chrissed, I love it this those days, Travis in
- 1:59:09Speaker 9: West Virginia, as I want to do, I'm asking a
- 1:59:11Speaker 9: non football question today since Alex is there, I figured
- 1:59:14Speaker 9: I get a more balanced answer. A co worker of
- 1:59:17Speaker 9: mine and for me that she has four best friends.
- 1:59:20Speaker 9: I told her that wasn't possible. You can only have
- 1:59:22Speaker 9: one best friend.
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: What are your thoughts?
- 1:59:26Speaker 4: Girls do this a lot?
- 1:59:27Speaker 11: Girls do this I'm guilty. I'm so guilty.
- 1:59:29Speaker 9: Actually, freshman year of college, everybody becomes the best friend
- 1:59:33Speaker 9: by November.
- 1:59:33Speaker 2: They hate each other.
- 1:59:34Speaker 10: Well, I have Morgan, we've known each other since first grade,
- 1:59:37Speaker 10: and it's college together, my best friend. But then you
- 1:59:40Speaker 10: have like your work bestie, your adult bestie, your college bestie,
- 1:59:47Speaker 10: Like I don't know, I have, I have a like
- 1:59:49Speaker 10: I have a group of four and the four of
- 1:59:52Speaker 10: us are super tight. They're my four besties, including Morgan, Morgan,
- 1:59:56Speaker 10: and then but then, like I was with all my
- 2:00:00Speaker 10: high school friends this past weekend and like, we've all
- 2:00:03Speaker 10: known each other twenty years. We were talking about this
- 2:00:05Speaker 10: and it's crazy and we're all still pretty tight too.
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: I gotta get this out quick.
- 2:00:10Speaker 5: We're out of time. But I have such a ran
- 2:00:11Speaker 5: on this. I hate when people are like, I want
- 2:00:13Speaker 5: my wife to be my best friend. I'm like, you can't.
- 2:00:15Speaker 5: Your spouse can't be your best friend. Your best friend
- 2:00:16Speaker 5: needs to be somebody different than your spouse. Your spouse
- 2:00:18Speaker 5: is your spouse.
- 2:00:19Speaker 4: It's another window into the deuce.
- 2:00:20Speaker 5: I got, I got Passionate knows my feelings on this.
- 2:00:24Speaker 2: Your spouse, you're not your best friend. You have to
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: have a best friend and a spouse.
- 2:00:28Speaker 5: Your spouse is your spouse. That's even more special than
- 2:00:30Speaker 5: a best friend, So don't try to like combine them
- 2:00:31Speaker 5: into two.
- 2:00:31Speaker 4: You need a best friend too, Okay, on that note,
- 2:00:35Speaker 4: it's a complicated I like the.
- 2:00:37Speaker 11: Movie I Love You Man where paul R. Have you
- 2:00:39Speaker 11: guys seen it? Paula doesn't have a best that's the
- 2:00:44Speaker 11: best one, though, do.
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: Your stupid bat's rough wice like?
- 2:00:46Speaker 5: And I want someone who's not only my best friend
- 2:00:50Speaker 5: but also my soul.
- 2:00:52Speaker 4: My best friends every ye, but you missed it. You
- 2:00:55Speaker 4: always have to start with foot.
- 2:00:57Speaker 9: Those of you who don't, All right, well listen, that's
