- 0:00Make it back alert make it back alert may go back alert folks. That's right. It's been a while
- 0:09I know it's been a lot spent a week, but it feels like it's been longer, but we got a lot to talk about
- 0:15Okay, between the first week of football till now there's gonna be a lot of things we have to catch up on
- 0:22So that means guess what more episodes it's gonna have to be made this week
- 0:25So we have a lot to talk about okay. No gray gets paid Jalen Ramsey gets paid
- 0:31Pathfinder move gets paid Spencer Brown gets paid that recessed the market Harrison Phillips gets gets an extension
- 0:39Colorado and in the Nebraska game the chiefs in the Ravens game the Eagles in the Packers game and to
- 0:46Gets another concussion. We have so much stuff to talk about that. There's no point in even doing an intro
- 0:52But we're still gonna do the intro anyway because why we need the intro without the intro
- 0:58None of this really goes the way that it's supposed to go. Okay, so we got a lot to talk about
- 1:03I would not be surprised if this episode creses over to an hour
- 1:09I would not be surprised, but hey, who knows all right who knows all right. I know it's been a while
- 1:15I know we haven't really talked about a whole lot, but I decided we got to
- 1:19Do everything at one time so for the next few for next few days are gonna be playing catch-up
- 1:25And let's see how quick can we catch up and get prepared for for next week's matchups and whatnot
- 1:30So all of this and more okay on the 33rd episode. Okay. Yeah, I know it it feels
- 1:39Man, I'm I feel rusty. I feel like I'm out of it. I feel like it's been a while
- 1:43But you know what it's all right. We're gonna get back into the groove of things. Okay
- 1:47I miss you guys. I know you guys miss me. It's all all that good stuff and more
- 1:51Okay, all this and more the 33rd episode of the football monkeys podcast. I am your host your GM
- 1:57Okay, who was away?
- 2:00Looking and giving advice and scouting
- 2:03Going from the west coast to the Midwest to the east coast to down south to up north
- 2:08Here they're everywhere went to Washington State got me a hot dog didn't like it went to Texas got me some brisket
- 2:15Gave me some food poisoning went to Florida left the game a little bit early because that game sub against what we landed back here in
- 2:24Pennsylvania got ourselves a good cheese they can we're good to go. So, you know what you already know what I'm getting ready to say
- 2:30Okay, one three one two three. Let's lock in. Oh
- 2:46All right folks, let's just get into the meat and potatoes of everything
- 3:04That has happened from the first week up until the end of this week
- 3:09It's a lot to talk about. So let's just let's just go into it. Okay. No a gray tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs
- 3:16Inc'd a three-year 18 million dollar deal. He gets a six million dollar signing bonus
- 3:21Tim ten million fully guaranteed at signing
- 3:25He'll be making six million a year according to Adam Schefter now when we look at his stats for 2023
- 3:3141 targets for 28 receptions 305 yards to touchdowns. He averaged 10.9
- 3:379 yards a play. I'm whoo. Yeah, it's definitely been a lot. It's definitely the coffee
- 3:43He had a 68.3 catch rate percentage was actually pretty good
- 3:49141s and I came to speak in a hundred and 41 yards after the catch according to NFL pro now when we look at this here folks
- 3:58It's not necessarily, you know an earth shattering deal where it's like, oh, what are the chiefs going to do what not?
- 4:04This is making sure that they take care of a player that plays somewhat of a of a pivotal role on the chief's offense
- 4:12Okay, aside from Travis Kelsey, they have to have somebody else that's going to be productive as well
- 4:17And you know, no a great has been productive. He's not necessarily been, you know, this ultra super productive person
- 4:24But you know when he gets the ball he does make plays and it shows so his stats, you know
- 4:30Not necessarily, you know speaks, you know speaks. Oh, this is a legendary player anything like that
- 4:37No, it doesn't do any of those things
- 4:39But what it does say is that, you know, the team values him and that they were going to make sure that they were going to lock him up
- 4:47And so in doing so they did it and you know, honestly, it's a great situation. It's a team friendly deal
- 4:53It's not that bad of a deal. It's not something where, you know, they're gonna have to restructure it, you know
- 4:59In two years or whatever like it's a really good team friendly deal
- 5:03He gets paid the teams keep the chiefs keep, you know
- 5:08One one of their one of their, you know functional pivotal players and you know, it's a one-man situation altogether
- 5:14Now when we look at the other player that got a back alert as well
- 5:19We we sort of have to I don't really understand it, but I guess we have to talk about it
- 5:25So Jaylin Ramsey ain't a three-year 72.3 million dollar extension to stay with the Dolphins
- 5:32Okay, he gets 24.3 million guaranteed at signing as well as in total guarantees
- 5:37He would making 24.1 million a year which technically makes him the highest pay corner in the league
- 5:43Now when we look at his stats, okay 30 he was targeted 37 times
- 5:48Okay, only allowed 22 receptions for 269 yards to touchdowns and had three picks
- 5:54Now when we look at this extension here, I don't understand why
- 5:59necessarily they would give him such a big extension
- 6:02Honestly, but I guess maybe it's to
- 6:05Try to you know keep him
- 6:07But at the same time realize that he is still that his market is still relatively high and he is still, you know
- 6:14He is still somewhat of an elite corner, I guess, but I mean when we look at it here
- 6:20He you he doesn't really the the the extension really doesn't start to kick in until two years from now, right?
- 6:28And both 2026 and 2027 he'll be making
- 6:3210 million a year and his cap hit for both of those years would be 25 million and 26 million 26.8 million
- 6:39Excuse me for 2027 his last year is when his base salary sort of, you know jumps a little bit more, okay?
- 6:4721 million is what will be his base salary in his cap. It will be 36 million
- 6:53I can guarantee you that there's nine times out of ten this this deal is going to be restructured again
- 6:59And they're probably going to probably push a majority of that money
- 7:03That would have been on the back end of the deal and probably maybe push it back up
- 7:08Maybe convert into a signing bonus maybe do something a little bit different, okay?
- 7:12Because again, I don't think the dolphins are going to let him just go all the way through this extension
- 7:18I just don't at some point either he wants to be in a better situation or they're going to be put into a you know
- 7:25somewhat of a
- 7:27I'm gonna say rock in a hard place but in a difficult situation where they may have to let a
- 7:32Veteran person like him go or trade him or whatever the case may be right so
- 7:38Again, I just don't I'm sort of a little pond. I'm a little
- 7:45Questioned by it, but I guess you know, I guess they just wanted to keep him. I guess I
- 7:51Now on to Pat Friar move okay move as we call him, okay
- 7:57Inked a four-year
- 7:5948 million dollar deal with the Steelers, okay?
- 8:01He gets a 10.5 million dollar signing bonus
- 8:0411.6 million guaranteed at signing as well as in total guarantees and he will be making
- 8:0912.1 million a year, okay now when we look at his stats, okay?
- 8:1447 targets for 32 receptions for
- 8:17308 yards to touchdowns he averaged
- 8:209.6 receiving yards per reception a
- 8:2368.1 catch rate in a hundred and forty seven yards after the catch according to NFL Pro now when we look at this, okay?
- 8:31Pat Friar move is definitely one of those tight ends
- 8:34Well, it's definitely one of those young players that it's starting to get a lot more
- 8:39Popularity and whatnot and he is a really good player
- 8:42Okay, because if we're being real here the only reason why that the Steelers
- 8:47Drafted Pat Friar move was because Eric E. Braun was not living up to the extension that the Steelers gave him right because remember
- 8:54The Steelers got Eric E. Braun in free agency and they were thinking they were going to get the same Eric E. Braun
- 9:00I think that you know the Colts and everybody else got but when but once he came to Pittsburgh
- 9:06It was a whole different ballgame. Okay, he could barely stay on the field. He was very inconsistent
- 9:13He looked like he was having a big drop problem
- 9:16He just was not the same player that he once was and you know, the Steelers were in a situation where they needed, you know a
- 9:25Productive tight end and you know leading up to that draft class
- 9:30The the running question was where the Steelers going to draft Creed Humphrey or Pat Friar move and eventually they drafted Pat Friar move
- 9:38The chiefs, you know drafted
- 9:40Creed Humphrey and the rest is history now not to say that you know drafting Pat Friar move was a bad was a bad move
- 9:47No, he's been he's been their most productive tight end
- 9:51I would say probably since maybe Jesse James or Vance McDonald maybe possibly, you know that that says a lot
- 9:58Right and granted. It's no disrespect to Eric E. Braun or anything like that
- 10:02But bro you you they paid you the money that they paid you because they thought that you were going to be the guy and
- 10:10You wasn't the guy and it showed and then in doing so they had to go in a different direction
- 10:16And you know here we are at this point now when we look at this deal
- 10:20This deal is not a really it's a really good deal honestly speaking. It really is Omar Khan once again
- 10:27You know is doing con artists things okay because next year his base salary is only 10.7 million
- 10:34And then after that it's only 7.6 8.5 and 6.9
- 10:39Those are really bad numbers. Those are really good numbers. This is a deal
- 10:43We're honestly speaking if you get into a situation where you need to you know
- 10:48He wants to be put in a different situation or you need to you know do a restructure
- 10:54Or you just need to cut him whatever the case may be right? It's a very easy deal to deal with okay
- 11:00Even with his cap hits his cap hit next year
- 11:0312.8 the year after that 11.2 the year after that 12.1 and then his final year 10.4 million
- 11:10That's very manageable very manageable very easy to deal with okay, and you know
- 11:17This is you know, how am I gonna say this?
- 11:22Pathfinder move to me feels like he's going to be a two-contract type player. I do believe that
- 11:28I do think that he does have the skill set to probably re-up and get another deal just because
- 11:34He plays such a pivotal role on this offense and the Steelers have you know in in recent years since he familiar
- 11:41Have started to value the tight end position a whole lot more
- 11:45So I mean you might as well want to lock in somebody like a pat fryer move up
- 11:51Basically for the rest of his career honestly speaking. I'm just saying not to mention it's somewhat of
- 11:57You know of an insurance policy as well just in case of if things go left so all in all it's a win-win situation
- 12:04Now on to Spencer Brown. Okay, right tackle for the bills
- 12:08He ain't a four-year 72 million dollar deal to stay with him
- 12:12He gets a six point four million dollar signing bonus nineteen point eight million guaranteed at signing as well as in total guarantees
- 12:19And he'll be making eighteen million a year now when we look at this here folks
- 12:23The bills recently have been investing more into their offensive line because they've been wanting to protect
- 12:31I'm drawing a blank here. They wanted to protect Josh Allen more right so he doesn't take all these hits that he's been taking as well as
- 12:39You know do all these outrageous places
- 12:42He has to do in order to extend the play or to score touchdown or whatever the case may be right and you know Spencer Brown
- 12:50Has been a really productive, you know tackle right they locked up both of their tackles deon Dawkins and now Spencer Brown
- 12:57So all in all it's a great signing. It's a it's a great situation for them even when they drafted or
- 13:04What's his name Osiris or Osiris Torrance?
- 13:09Those were those are really good pickups. They low-key. They have a really good offensive line
- 13:14I like their offensive line unit. Okay, and Spencer Brown has definitely been a really productive right tackle for them
- 13:22And then even when you look at you know, the structure of his deal
- 13:26The structure of his of his deal is somewhat back loaded
- 13:29The last two years is when he's gonna be is when you're really gonna see that that spike in
- 13:36His base salary going up as well as his cap hits, right?
- 13:40Because the last two years he will be making 14.7 million
- 13:45For his base salary as well as 16.8 million for his last year, right?
- 13:49And then even with the cap hits the cap hits for the
- 13:52The the I came to speak. I'm so excited. I miss you guys so much. I really did. I really did miss you guys so much
- 14:00I really missed doing this when we look at it, right in
- 14:042026 his cap hit 19.4
- 14:082027 19.9 and then 2028
- 14:1222.1 now I can guarantee you like I've been saying for the other players as well
- 14:16This doesn't mean that you know this contract is set in stone
- 14:19everybody's contract at some point goes through a restructure and
- 14:22You know money is moved around in different and you know in different areas and one not and maybe is given to them in a signing bonus or
- 14:31Converted or whatever the case may be right just you know
- 14:34Just to create cap space or to be able to go after somebody just things happen, right?
- 14:39And so Spencer Brown has definitely been an anchor on that right side
- 14:43He continues to be consistent and you know the the bills
- 14:47Are rewarded him for it by giving him an extension and you know, it's a great situation
- 14:52It is it's a great situation it this right here shows you that this team is one
- 14:58Committed to trying to will try their best to protect Josh Allen while at the same time making sure
- 15:05That they invest into the offensive line as best as possible now onto the controversial
- 15:12Bag alert yes, because I'm yes, I'm saying it's controversial because of what happened
- 15:16Yesterday, okay, that presscott did it. I called it. Yes. I said it. I called it. I said it
- 15:25I called it. I said it. I told you he was gonna hit 60 million and guess what he did
- 15:30He did it 60 million on the dot four years 240 million
- 15:35Okay at 80 million dollar signing bonus
- 15:39129 million guaranteed at signing
- 15:41231 million in total guarantees and he's making 60 million a year. Okay now when we look at his stats, okay?
- 15:51410 completions out of
- 15:54590 attempts
- 15:564516 yards 36 touchdowns 9 picks
- 16:01105.9 pass a rating he averaged
- 16:057.7 yards per attempt and he had a completion percentage of
- 16:0869.5 now. This is what I will say
- 16:12About this whole debacle right and was gonna be completely honest here. I think this was probably a really bad sign
- 16:18I I do I I truly believe that and I will stand on this
- 16:23Did this is just my perception as a former GM and in all these various different things, right?
- 16:29The quarterback should not be the highest paid on the team
- 16:34He should not be the highest paid. Yes, he should be taking care of financially
- 16:37But he should not be you know top five or top ten when when it comes to his position market
- 16:44Because when you do that it it literally puts a chokehold on what the team can do
- 16:51From a from you know from a building standpoint
- 16:54They won't be able to go after you know the the the star player and free agency instead
- 17:00They're gonna have to go after this veteran who you don't know if he still has it or not, right?
- 17:06And you know it shows because when you look at some of the highest paid quarterbacks right now a lot of them are
- 17:15Not winning a lot of them have not been to a Super Bowl a lot of them have not won a MVP
- 17:20A lot of them have not really shown a whole lot to say okay
- 17:24We should be able to give you that type of money look at it Joe Burrow has not been the same
- 17:30He has not been the same Joe Burrow since that Super Bowl year
- 17:34He is actually regressed if we're being real here. He has regressed and yes, I understand Andrews play
- 17:40You know have have definitely played a part, but you can see that he has regressed. He is not the same player
- 17:46He is not good
- 17:48But when everybody talks about Joe Burrow talk about him all high and all high and mighty
- 17:54But when it's people like Lamar Jackson and Jaylen Hurts
- 17:57Oh, they're holding their feet to the fire with every little decision that they do whether it be right wrong or indifferent, right?
- 18:05And Dak Prescott, I understand yes
- 18:08The Cowboys wanted to keep you know, Dak because he's he's definitely been their best quarterback
- 18:13You know in recent years and whatnot. I get all of that
- 18:17But at some point you have to draw the line in the sand you have to
- 18:22because
- 18:2360 million
- 18:25A year. I'm sorry. I wouldn't even give I I'm sorry
- 18:29I'm not going to give 60 million to a quarterback that doesn't even that doesn't have a ring
- 18:34Doesn't have an MVP doesn't have an offensive player of the year
- 18:38Let alone has even been to an NFC championship game. I'm not doing it under any circumstances
- 18:44I don't care what record you broken. I don't care how many touchdowns you throw
- 18:48I don't care if you have a perfect season where you don't we you don't throw not one interception
- 18:53I don't care. I'm not going to give you 60 million because the minute I give you 60 million
- 18:58Guess what that means? That means another player on this team is going is going to have to be sacrificed
- 19:03And we won't be able to take care of them because why?
- 19:07You want all of your money and granted I understand that that he was he was going to get his money
- 19:12Whether it was going to be with the Cowboys or anybody else I get all of that
- 19:16But at the same time if I'm Jerry Jones
- 19:19I have to I have to think about the future if I'm really trying to win. I have to think about the future
- 19:25because because
- 19:26I didn't gave all this money to CD land. I didn't gave all this money to dag Prescott
- 19:32And I still have to figure out what I want to do with the offensive line
- 19:35I still have to figure out what I'm going to do with Michael Parsons because Michael Parsons is that's not going to be a cheap deal as well
- 19:41That's going to be someone that he could potentially reset the market to if he wins a defensive player of the year award
- 19:47And has a crazier season than what he's had the last two years
- 19:52So you have to factor in all these different types of things?
- 19:56Yes, I understand the Cowboys value their stars and they take care of their stars very well
- 20:01But at the same time there comes a time and point where you just have to say, okay, you know what?
- 20:06Maybe we need to go in a different direction
- 20:09And maybe try to see if we can get some production from somebody else for a little bit cheaper and maybe see what happens
- 20:15Compared to resetting the market for dag Prescott like this is a really bad deal. This is a bad deal
- 20:24Through and through okay
- 20:26Because after this year his base salary for the next three years
- 20:3047.7 40 million 45 million right cap hits
- 20:36Cap hits his cap hit next year will be 89.8 million
- 20:41I'm going to say that again a little bit closer in the mic so you can hear what I just said
- 20:47His cap hit is going to be 89 point
- 20:5189 point
- 20:54eight million
- 20:55dollars
- 20:57For a person who has not won a Super Bowl
- 21:01An MVP an offensive player of the year let alone has even made it to the NFC
- 21:07Championship I want you to think about that for a second think about that
- 21:12Someone who has not won any major accolade just reset the market
- 21:17We have seen the recipe and every time a quarterback resets the market
- 21:23What happens the team is not able to to um to continue to build let alone continue to be competitive
- 21:30They're going to have to get rid of another top in a productive player because they won't be able to pay them
- 21:38As well as they will start to there will start to be a decline
- 21:43Trevor Lawrence since he's gotten his deal. What is he done? Nothing
- 21:47Dag Prescott he literally they the Cowboys literally just got smoked yesterday
- 21:53smoked habachi grilled baked fried
- 21:58seared
- 21:58Pan seared reverse seared all of those different ways that you can cook something. Okay, they got cooked too
- 22:05It looked like Gordon Ramsay put on a show. Okay. He cooked for every single Dallas Cowboys fan. Okay
- 22:14That's how bad it was and you mean to tell me you paid this fool 60 million a year
- 22:19no
- 22:21No, Jerry most most of times I would agree with you on certain things, but
- 22:25This is the one deal where it's just like yo, this is not a good deal
- 22:30And it's not going to age well and you want to know the sweetest thing of this all guess what?
- 22:36They can't trade him because he has a no trade clause
- 22:39So he get to dictate wherever he wants to go to if he wants to be traded
- 22:44Now think about that for a second here folks not granted. I understand a lot of corebacks
- 22:47They have that clause in their contract, but you gave him all this money
- 22:51You're unable to move him unless he wants to be moved and where he wants to go to
- 22:57So all in all
- 22:59Unless you guys are about to win the Super Bowl this year and whatnot. This is a bad deal
- 23:03This is this is a horrible deal. This is going to go down in history is definitely one of the worst deals in NFL history
- 23:09You heard it here first now onto
- 23:13A more serious matter
- 23:15Well, um, actually, you know what? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 23:19We're we're we're going to save that where we're we're going to save that for last
- 23:22Okay, we're going to continue on with these back alerts
- 23:24So Harrison Phillips defensive tackle for the Vikings ain't a two-year 15 million dollar extension with them
- 23:30He gets a five million dollar signing bonus 13 million guaranteed at signing as well as in total guarantees
- 23:35And he'll be making 7.5 million a year now when we look at his stats
- 23:39Two past deflections three sacks six quarterback hits two tackles for loss all in all this is just a
- 23:46You know, they just want to lock up a player that they that they value very much, especially on that defensive line
- 23:54And you know, he's definitely his
- 23:56He's not a player where his stats are going to woo you on the aim whatnot
- 24:01But he is a player where if you you know, you don't need to worry about him doing his job
- 24:06He's going to do his job. He's going to try to stop the run
- 24:10He's going to be a good run stuffer all those different things and more. Okay. It's not something where it's like
- 24:15Oh, they they did it to the wrong person. They gave him the wrong. No, no, no, it's it's a basic
- 24:22Extension, they just want to lock up a player that they value. That's it. Okay
- 24:27That's it. That's all cool. Now. I wonder should we continue to do
- 24:33Well, you know what? Yeah. Yeah. Well, we'll we'll save college football for last
- 24:37I think that's exactly what we're going to do. We're gonna save college football for last now
- 24:41And you know what I'll you know what that's exactly what I'll do
- 24:46Let's talk about to okay, because there's going to be other things other other football things we're going to have to talk about
- 24:52Let's talk about to now
- 24:54For those of you who do not know to a suffered
- 24:56um, another concussion
- 24:59This this past thursday against the bills now
- 25:02This is what I will say
- 25:04And I'm going to be completely honest here as someone who has had a concussion himself
- 25:09Uh, concussions are not fine. Okay. I don't care. Anyone says concussions are not fun at all
- 25:16They are not something to be played with especially, you know in this time in day of age
- 25:21We have seen in various documentaries and films the effects of what happens when a player has had multiple head injuries
- 25:31Okay, we have seen it. We have seen it
- 25:33And you know, I'm not going to be the person I was going to say oh too
- 25:38It should retire this and the other blah blah blah
- 25:41But I think the most the the first thing that I think needs to be discussed before we can bring up the retirement
- 25:48You know talking whatnot. I think he really needs to see a new all uh new all uh, I can't even speak a neurologist
- 25:56And he needs to see a concussion doctor. I think he needs to go
- 26:00He needs to go under some tests. He needs to see exactly
- 26:04to to what extent does he has cte
- 26:07And exactly is his brain still operating at a normal level whatnot all those different things because
- 26:16You may not see it now
- 26:18But there is a chance that it may it may come up later on down the road because we've seen with a lot of former players now
- 26:24You know, they they were fine when they were playing but then
- 26:28Later on down the road. That's when you started to see a lot of their symptoms
- 26:32You know come back and haunt them and you don't want that for toa. You do not want that
- 26:38And you know, it's a situation where you know, if I'm the dolphin's front office and especially ownership
- 26:46I'm I'm I'm telling you know, Mike, Mike McDaniel. Listen, we're going to sit to a down for a little bit forget about the games
- 26:53We're going to sit him down. We need to figure out exactly what
- 26:57What is the contingency plan for to a moving for because I understand he he took Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes
- 27:04I understand they taught him how to, you know, fall and all those different types of things, but guess what?
- 27:09Let me tell you something
- 27:11No matter what you do
- 27:13Brazilian jiu-jitsu tai jiu-jiu ninjutsu jiu-jiu-jiu wu-ju jiu-jiu whatever
- 27:19It's not going to stop you from having a concussion. Okay. It is not
- 27:24And every single time that he's had a concussion you can see that like his his hands lock up and everything
- 27:32That is not a good sign. That's not a good sign. That's not something that you play with. Okay
- 27:39and you know
- 27:41You if if you're the dolphins you just invest a lot of money in in to you know in toa
- 27:47And so now you have to figure out exactly. What are you going to do?
- 27:51You moving forward because again, he can't continue to have
- 27:56All of these concussions at some point the line has to be drawn in the same
- 28:00We have seen players that have had to retire early because of because of them suffering
- 28:07Multiple concussions case in point luke acle
- 28:10luke acle was a really good linebacker at one point great
- 28:16Really really great. Okay, but here was the one thing
- 28:19That basically derailed it. He kept on having concussions
- 28:24He kept on having concussions and at some and he he said, you know what at this point
- 28:30I don't did everything I probably could do
- 28:33It's just time for me to walk away
- 28:35that's just what it is because
- 28:38You continuing to try to play is not going to do anything. It's just not now
- 28:43Now when every single time you're on the field you you're you're you're being
- 28:47You know cart away or being put in in concussion protocol. That's not good. That's not good at all
- 28:54And so if I'm to a
- 28:57I'm I'm thinking things over all options are on the table at this point
- 29:03And you know if I'm the dolphins, I'm a little bit concerned because now
- 29:08You basically are going to have to hope
- 29:11that
- 29:12He that he hasn't suffered any major brain brain injuries
- 29:17so
- 29:18Because you've tied in a lot of money with him and even then even if he was to retire if I'm not mistaken
- 29:24There there may be different clauses in in his contract or whatnot. Give him his guaranteed money
- 29:28That's over. I think a hundred some million in guarantees
- 29:32So, I mean that's
- 29:34There there's so there's so many different
- 29:37Implications with this situation that it's not something that's just simple like
- 29:41A broken leg you can bounce back from a broken leg
- 29:45You can bounce back from a torn ACL or torn Achilles and whatnot
- 29:49But when it doesn't but when it comes to those head those head injuries that is permanent
- 29:54That is not going that is not going to go away. That is not something that
- 29:58You know, you take a pill and it's gone or you you put some cream on and it's gone or if you take this therapy
- 30:05It's gone. No those things stay with you for the rest of your life
- 30:10And you do not want that and even then when we look at it the way that he got this latest concussion
- 30:17In some ways it was it wasn't the defender's fault
- 30:21He tucked his head in trying to try to I guess he was trying to to truck tomorrow handling or something
- 30:27I don't know
- 30:28But the the way that he put his head down
- 30:32You can see the impact
- 30:34Right, you can see the impact and once you see the impact you can see. Oh, he's out
- 30:38He's out cold and it's not like I don't I want people to say well the mar hamlin
- 30:44You know what was trying to deliver a nasty hit. No, he wasn't he was actually trying to stop him
- 30:49He wasn't trying to go low and and hit him or anything like that
- 30:54He was just trying to stop him
- 30:56If two would have tucked his head a little bit more downward
- 31:00And if you would have angled his body a little bit more
- 31:04Two or three degrees more he would have had a broken neck
- 31:07He would have broken his neck
- 31:10That that is how significant
- 31:12His his head was was tucked in and granted
- 31:17All the coaches nowadays they teach the quarterbacks slide
- 31:21Slide slide slide slide slide. That's the that's the one thing that they all teach. They even have sliding drills
- 31:27right
- 31:29And that was and not not to get off on another tangent
- 31:32That was one of the things that derail rg3's career
- 31:35Because why he didn't want to slide?
- 31:39He did not want to slide and he thought that he would be able to escape everybody and
- 31:44Do all those different types of things and guess what it cost to his career
- 31:49It cost to his they had
- 31:51Baseball players coming in to teach rg3 how to slide you didn't want to do it and guess what it cost to his career
- 31:58So if I'm the dolphins after the after the amount of money that I just gave to
- 32:02What's how to talk about lower this this offseason?
- 32:06I am making sure he sees the best of the best doctors. I don't care how much money it costs
- 32:12I don't care put it on their tab because you need to make sure you need to know that you know that you know that you know
- 32:21That tula is a okay and he can continue to play
- 32:25While at the same time come up with a plan and figure out. Okay
- 32:29Maybe we're gonna have to go and get another quarterback
- 32:33Um next offseason and you know figure something else out
- 32:38That's what they're gonna have to do. Okay, because guess what?
- 32:41I don't care if you build him the greatest offensive lineman in the fell history
- 32:45I don't care if from from uh, toran arnstead to the all the way to the right side
- 32:52It's full of first rounder all pros
- 32:54You could get the best offensive lineman in every single position and put them and put them on the line for tula
- 32:59It will still not stop him from getting a concussion
- 33:02It won't and at some point
- 33:05You have to value your life after football and not your life in football. That's a bar right there. I like that
- 33:14I might keep that but back to this
- 33:17You have to focus on your your your health
- 33:21Because if you don't you're going to mess yourself up
- 33:24We have seen images of what happens when a when a player suffers a lot of traumatic
- 33:32Traumatic brain
- 33:35Blows we've seen it. It does not end well for nobody. Okay now moving on to more
- 33:43upbeat type of things
- 33:45Mary yet. Yeah, you know what let's talk about it. Yeah, let's definitely talk about it. I'm sorry mook
- 33:50I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to do it. Sorry Ravens fans. We're going to talk about the ravens and chiefs. Okay
- 33:56Now, this is what I will say. Okay. I'm just going to be completely honest here
- 34:00I feel like the rest were very ticky tacky with their
- 34:03With their calls
- 34:05I feel like they were favoring more of the chiefs than the ravens because I felt like they they kept on calling the same
- 34:11Call every single time
- 34:13On the ravens and the way that they are offensive lineman were lined up when when you look at the replay you can see
- 34:19The running Stanley is not is is not violating is not breaking any of the rules
- 34:25So then why the world did you keep on calling?
- 34:27You know keep on calling a penalty on him
- 34:30But you didn't call
- 34:31All the times that juwan taylor kept on getting off, you know super early or he was holding or any or any of those things
- 34:39Right and it this has literally been been happening since last season since last season
- 34:45There's multiple almost every single game. He is getting off well before anybody else
- 34:50Well before the ball is even height to patch my home's his hands
- 34:54Right, there's even times where he's deliberately holding and nobody calls it. Everyone's just turning a blind eye
- 35:01Why is that? I don't know
- 35:03But I but but this is what I will say the ravens were very
- 35:08um
- 35:09Reserved when it came to their their play calling
- 35:12You have Derek Henry you have someone who?
- 35:16It's going to take him a while to get in his try and the only way that you do that is you got to feed him
- 35:22You got to feed the rock to him
- 35:23That's the only way that this is going to work and it can it can't work when in the first half
- 35:29You want to give him the ball in the second half you barely want to give him the ball at all you can't
- 35:33He's going to get his I don't care where anyone says
- 35:36Derek Henry is big enough strong enough and he is still a problem for a lot of defenses
- 35:42Okay, he is going to get his he is now. He may not be able to get a first down every single time he gets ball
- 35:49He may not be able to go and score a touchdown every single time
- 35:53But he is going to wear down on a defense
- 35:56That is why you get someone like a Derek Henry
- 35:59And for them not to be using him the way that he should be used at this point
- 36:04Is a little bit concerning very concerning actually
- 36:08Because if you weren't going to use him the way the way that he wants to be used and should be used
- 36:13Then she then you should have never tried to go after him honestly speaking here. Okay
- 36:18um
- 36:19What what's another thing that definitely stuck out Rosen garen going up against chris jones 101 no help
- 36:27Like I understand. He's a rookie. He has to go through these
- 36:30You know, he has to go through everything and whatnot when it comes to being
- 36:35Attack on the national football league, but dang can you give him a little bit of help?
- 36:39Just you got to put somebody on that side just to help him. You're going up against chris jones
- 36:44This isn't just some normal just you know, a little pass rusher that you know
- 36:48Could be kind of got one one or two moves you're talking about an all pro super bowl champion
- 36:54potential hall of fame defensive lineman and chris jones and you're having him to go one on one
- 37:02against a rookie right tackle
- 37:06Why would you do that and you don't give him any help? Right?
- 37:10That is just the most damn this thing in the world and I will never be able to understand it
- 37:17But again, this is the ravens that we are talking about and I think this opens up for a bigger
- 37:23Your conversation that probably needs to be had which is you know
- 37:28When we look at last year and we look at that offense that offense was it was putting them numbers. Okay
- 37:33It was putting up big numbers. They were driving down the field. They were stretching the field
- 37:37They were doing all those things. They were passing everybody was basically eating off of that offense last year
- 37:43Why haven't we not seen just the glimpse of that this year?
- 37:47You cannot be reserved
- 37:49Especially when you're going up against the chiefs. You can't I understand it's the first week
- 37:53You don't want to show everything in your bag, but you might have you just to beat them because it's the chiefs
- 37:59This is a game where not only not only does it send the message to them and everybody else that hey
- 38:06We want we we want hours. Okay last year last year. We were supposed to go to the championship
- 38:12We screwed that up. So guess what we coming back this year a little bit strong
- 38:15We coming back with which are a little bit more intensity a little bit more physicality and whatnot
- 38:20But you did it and you allow patron my homes to once again
- 38:24Do the things that patron my homes does and it shows it shows even and you know what?
- 38:30We we you know what?
- 38:32We we we have to talk about it the tell. Yes. That that's going to be the name of this title tell
- 38:38tell
- 38:39Because let let's be real here that
- 38:42That that wasn't that could have that definitely could have been called a touchdown
- 38:47It definitely could have been called a touchdown and it doesn't help that patron my homes after you know after the game
- 38:53Is basically saying oh, whoa, you should have worn should have worn white cleat. Oh
- 38:57Come on man. Come on. Come on dude. Like really you're corning right now
- 39:02You're being really corning right now, but best believe it Travis Kelsey would have done that if she rice would have done that
- 39:08If anybody else in that team would have done that oh automatically 100 percent a touchdown
- 39:14And I'm not trying to say that I'm not trying to come off as Ravens fan of whatnot
- 39:17But what I do not like is the is games where they are very ticky tacky when it comes to their their uh
- 39:25When it comes to uh, I can't even speak because I'm because I'm so irritated because of the the better, um
- 39:32Referring you can't do that. You you have to call it
- 39:36Down the middle you cannot just favor one team over the other and it showed there were a lot of times
- 39:43Where the Ravens were being called for a lot of ticky tack things and the Chiefs were able to get away scot-free
- 39:51And continue to just do whatever they want and that is unacceptable now
- 39:55And we look at for the Ravens though. This is going to bite them in the butt when it comes to
- 40:00You know when it comes down to the seeding process and everything for the playoffs because you lost to a afc team
- 40:07If this is an nfc team, I'm not really concerned about because it's an nfc team, right?
- 40:11But every but you should want to try to win the you should you should want to try to win your games
- 40:18You know within the afc because that's going to have an effect, you know when it comes to the playoffs
- 40:24And you may not feel it right now, but when it comes to that seeding that can be the difference between you going up against a super hot team
- 40:32right now that is you know that
- 40:35That's going to give you some problems or team that you know just got in because of a technicality or
- 40:43You know something
- 40:45You know something something crazy happen or whatever the case may be right
- 40:49That is that is the difference. There's a difference between you getting a first round by and you having to basically fight all
- 40:57the way
- 40:58To the Super Bowl
- 41:00That's what it is even with them losing to the Raiders
- 41:03Yesterday. Yes, I'm going to talk about that in the next episode as well. I'm just I'm just gonna say that
- 41:09Not gonna not gonna go anything further, but Ravens fans. I understand you guys are very upset
- 41:14You have every right to be very upset because this team is ready to win right now
- 41:19Okay, the pieces are in place to win right now and you cannot continue to play
- 41:25Reserved, especially when you're going up a team like the Chiefs
- 41:28You know that nine times out of ten they are going to come out guns blazing and they're going to give you different looks than what you
- 41:35Have seen on tape and so you have to be prepared for it
- 41:39And if you're not going to be prepared for it as well as the tiki-tack ref calls that they're going to be doing
- 41:45Guess what's going to happen? You're going to lose. You're going to lose. That's just what it is. That is
- 41:50That's just what it is now
- 41:52Moving on to the other game
- 41:55Uh, that definitely needs to be talked about the Packers and the Eagles game
- 41:59do I
- 42:01I just don't understand why why the league continues to do these to do these games. I just don't I
- 42:07I me personally as a fan. I just do not like them. I don't I feel like they are very unnecessary
- 42:14It'll be different if you're doing them in europe. Okay, cool. You have a
- 42:18A pretty good following in europe, but you really don't I mean when have we done anything in brazil, right?
- 42:25The field was atrocious
- 42:27very much atrocious
- 42:29it was just
- 42:31I don't know. I I get it as as as a as a marketer with and i'm trying to think with a
- 42:37With a marketing mindset. They're trying to do what the NBA did back in the 90s, which is
- 42:43Expand the the reach of the sport, but I guess the way that they're doing it is a little bit off and a little bit
- 42:49You know, kelter if that's a word
- 42:52And it's it's just not play players really don't like it
- 42:56Because that's a 10. That's a 10 plus hour flight that that you're going to have to make
- 43:00You can't go out anywhere because of how you know because of the favelas and you know
- 43:06The gang activity and all those different type of stuff
- 43:09The the field is atrocious. It was people were slipping and sliding everywhere
- 43:15like it's it was just
- 43:17I'm
- 43:19Just horrible just not absolutely horrible now
- 43:23These are just a few notes that I definitely jotted down and definitely
- 43:27Um, definitely call my eye especially through uh, nfl pro as well
- 43:31So and and this offense so far their offensive coordinator if you guys do not know is kellen moore
- 43:37The eagles used motion on 48 of 73 plays, which was the highest since 2020. Okay
- 43:45Jaylen hurts his strength so far was the intermediate and short passing game
- 43:49But was very inconsistent in the deep ball game
- 43:51That could be for you know because of the different coverage is that the packers were playing as well as you know, just
- 43:59It I just I just feel like both teams were not really like
- 44:04They really weren't they were just trying to get the game over with
- 44:07I don't think they really was trying to like go all out if that makes sense
- 44:12In the 24 carries that that barkley that sacrum Barkley had he generated 109 yards and two touchdowns
- 44:18Josh Jacobs was um, you know
- 44:2116 attempts for 84 yards. He averaged 5.3 yards a carry, which is good
- 44:27But it definitely could have been a little bit more. I think I think the packers wanted to rely on him more
- 44:33But I think they were in a situation where they were trying to put points on the board
- 44:36And so they just had to you know go and rely on their the receivers and jordan love
- 44:42um speaking of jordan love
- 44:44Jordan love was 17 completions out of 34 attempts 260 yards two touchdowns one pick
- 44:50He averaged 7.6 yards per attempt and had a 50 percent completion
- 44:54Uh, completion percentage the only reason why his numbers are the way that they are is because he got hurt during the game
- 45:01And basically he was declared out and that is that is why he's not playing
- 45:05For a little bit now when we look at jaylon hurts jaylon hurts had 20 20 completions out of 34 attempts
- 45:12It's 278 yards two touchdowns two picks
- 45:15He averaged 8.2 yards per attempt and had a 58.8
- 45:18Compliance and percentage now they were having a little bit of a of a fumbling problem between him and the center
- 45:24But I mean that that's probably gonna that's gonna mature over time just because I mean, you know
- 45:30He's feeling the shoes of jason kelsey. So it's like, you know
- 45:34The way that the the way that jason kelsey used to hike the ball was different from what they have now
- 45:39so a little bit of of
- 45:41You know a little bit of a of not necessarily a problem
- 45:44But just something that you know will definitely grow over time. But oh and all the eagles, you know come away with the victory
- 45:52It was a okay game
- 45:54Nothing nothing really like super crazy and whatnot. I I want to see more
- 46:00Um, I definitely want to see more from this eagles offense. I really do
- 46:04I I I feel like them getting killing more
- 46:07May be actually a good sign and maybe what they need
- 46:10I just want to see how is this going to affect the the deep threats
- 46:15As well as you know, the the deep passing that jaylen hurts is gonna have to do because you're gonna have to feed a jay brown
- 46:21You're gonna have to do that. So I just want to see how everybody's going to be utilized as the season
- 46:29Progress now, let's switch over to college
- 46:32Football
- 46:33Yes
- 46:34College football. Yes, we're gonna there's gonna be I'm letting you guys know now
- 46:38There's gonna be some episodes where they where it's going to be strictly just college football
- 46:42So giving you a heads up right now. I'll I'll continue to remind you moving forward. But that's just where we are. Okay
- 46:48So let's talk about this, uh, colorado in Nebraska game. So
- 46:52It was a disaster
- 46:56Let's just let let's just put it like that. It was a disaster
- 46:59You could definitely tell that Nebraska, you know, definitely had a game plan stuck to that game plan
- 47:05And you know, they were just they they were playing crazy. They were getting through that defense was getting through a lot of times
- 47:12And creating a lot of pressure and shahdoor was not being able to you know, play now granted
- 47:18This is what I will say about colorado
- 47:20Colorado makes a lot of noise
- 47:22They're loud
- 47:24In this situation right now, even though they won against colorado state this weekend
- 47:29I think they I think it would be best for them to just quiet it down just a little bit
- 47:33Because when you're on a high right when when when they're winning and they're on their highs they're they're on their high high
- 47:40Oh, they're talking they're doing this and that and performances and all these different types of things
- 47:44But when they're losing they look like they done they done ate a whole lemon
- 47:49And now they got the you know, the sour mouth and whatnot. It's not a good feeling
- 47:53I get all that but they just they just have to tamper things down a little bit
- 47:58They do and they have to focus on the game. They have to focus on winning
- 48:03Okay, because winning when you're winning you have leverage you you're able to do certain things
- 48:10But when you're losing no
- 48:13Having all those celebrities on the sidelines and all those different types of things
- 48:16Sure, you can do those things when you're winning, but you cannot do that when one many you're winning then you're losing
- 48:22You're you're you're losing then you're winning and all those different types of things
- 48:25And granted, I understand that Dion, you know, they landed the five star prospect the the left tackle and whatnot
- 48:31And you know, they have an NFL caliber receiver and in Jimmy Horn Jr. Who I think will definitely be
- 48:37Drafted a pretty high next year
- 48:40But you know when when we look at it the offensive line has has to do a better job
- 48:45They have to do a better job and Shaddour has to do a better job. You cannot
- 48:50Point the finger at you know at at at your offense line and your offense and just say well
- 48:58Uh, well, Nebraska got this this and this and well, what about me? That's that's not how you do it
- 49:04That that's not how that's not how you're supposed to answer that type of question
- 49:08You should have just said, oh, okay. Well, we just got to you know
- 49:12We just have to look at the tape make some adjustments and just move forward, right?
- 49:16Compared to pointing the finger and blaming players
- 49:20You know based off of what they did and what they didn't do. That's not how you win. That's not how you do it
- 49:28Okay, because honestly speaking here
- 49:31When I went even even when I looked at the Colorado State game
- 49:35That pocket was collapsing very quickly
- 49:38If the if Colorado to be a a team that teams are a team that everyone else is going to have to worry about
- 49:45Well, you have to start running the ball more
- 49:47You have to start mixing mixing up your plays because I do feel like their play calling is a little bit stagnant and reserved
- 49:53And start rolling out Shaddour is athletic enough and and fast enough where he can roll out and he can
- 50:00You know get a first down if he needs to compared to
- 50:04Just continuing to drop back 30 and 40, you know times a game. That's not going to win you
- 50:09It's not going to win you games. That's not use them in a creative way. That is the only way that you're going to be able to win
- 50:17And if you can't use them in a creative way, I don't know what to tell you got to use
- 50:21You have to use any and every option. Okay
- 50:24Run the ball
- 50:25Do when you run the ball you chew the clock you you you beat up on on the defense. Okay, cool
- 50:31Roll out you you give a little bit of creativity
- 50:34Everybody is able to to get open and creative play because guess what everyone's going to be everyone knows
- 50:40That Shaddour's first option is going to be who Travis Hunter and if it's not Travis Hunter, then it's Jimmy Horn or vice versa
- 50:46Right?
- 50:47That's just what it is
- 50:49Now when we look at on the defensive side the defensive side definitely has to do more
- 50:54That defensive line they're not getting through they're not stop. They're not stopping the run and teams realize that teams realize that they can run
- 51:01On Colorado because why their defensive line isn't doing anything. They're not stopping them and
- 51:08It shows the pass rushers. They have to be able to create more more pressure on the quarterback
- 51:14I'm not saying they have to play like Khalil Mackin
- 51:17TJ Wadham Miles Garrett or any of those guys
- 51:20But you have to be able to get after the quarterback
- 51:23You have to put pressure on him if you don't put pressure on him
- 51:26He's going to get comfortable and then he's going to cook and you do not want that. I promise you you do not want that
- 51:34I mean granted. Yes, they did be Colorado State, but still
- 51:39this I feel like
- 51:42I feel like a lot of times deon
- 51:45Caches checks that the team can't cash
- 51:48And this is and the reason why I say that is because a lot of times you'll see the hype videos and you know
- 51:55You see what was going on in practice and one not and you're thinking. Oh, okay
- 51:59They're going in the right direction
- 52:01But when it comes to Saturday or Friday or whenever they play, they're like a deer in headlights
- 52:08What what what what what's going on? They run on the ball?
- 52:14What are we gonna do? I don't know what to do. No
- 52:18No, man, that's not how this thing works
- 52:20Because I'm telling you right now if you go up against Georgia
- 52:23If you go up against a Michigan if you go up against a Texas if you go up against any of those teams
- 52:29Nine times out of ten one, they're going to run the ball at at some point and they're going to run it down your throat
- 52:37That that's one two. They're going to mix up their play calling
- 52:40They're going to do some probably the quarterback is probably going to roll out a few times
- 52:44They're going to do some play action. They're going to do some RPL. They're going to do
- 52:47They're going to do a variety of different things
- 52:51You have to change it. You have to change the play calling
- 52:54You have to
- 52:56Control the clock because if you can't control the clock, you're not going to win. Okay, and if I'm deon
- 53:03You have to start targeting
- 53:05Defensive linemen and pass rushers. You have to start going after them more bro
- 53:10You're going to have to because why that is where your money is going to be made
- 53:15That defensive line needs to be bolstered up. I don't care if you have you can have warrantsap mean joe green
- 53:22deacon jones
- 53:24Uh, not not reggie white. Jesus. No, not him
- 53:28John Randall and whomever
- 53:31To be your coaches the the fact of the matter is
- 53:34They the the defensive line needs some talent on there
- 53:37They need some dogs on there because if not, guess what?
- 53:40Everyone's just going to continue to run up the middle because why your defensive line can't stop it?
- 53:46And it shows it shows every single time. They can't stop the run
- 53:51They can't create pressure let alone get through and try to and try to sack the quarterback
- 53:56The quarterback to and I wouldn't be surprised to be like man
- 53:59I'm not even worried about those defensive linemen this defensive line can't even touch me with a 10 foot pole
- 54:03Even if they wanted to even even if they got through the line still won't matter. They still not going to touch me
- 54:08That's probably the mindset that they have
- 54:10and you just
- 54:12The team just has to do better the expectations are high for them. They have to meet those
- 54:19Expectations they have to meet those standards because if you don't the pressure is going to be on deion and you do not want that
