SPEAKER_01: You know the good thing about being old is that you get to relive your glory days.
• 0:20
SPEAKER_01: When you're out there telling stories to the youngsters, you know, because when they out there doing their thing, they swear to God that they are the first one to do it.
• 0:30
SPEAKER_01: They did it the best, and no one else before them did it better.
• 0:36
  SPEAKER_01: And guess what?
• 0:36
SPEAKER_01: I was just like them when I was their age.
• 0:39
SPEAKER_01: But you know, the same thing that I'm doing within my age, we live my glory days.
• 0:44
SPEAKER_01: All the people back then did the same thing.
• 0:47
SPEAKER_01: But one thing I should have did is paid attention on the way they moved and how they talked about their glory days.
• 0:57
SPEAKER_01: And for instance, what I'm about to say, it is you understand what I'm talking about and how I wrap myself into some bullshit that um now that my um mount wrote a check that my ass gonna have to cash now, okay?
• 1:14
SPEAKER_01: But welcome back to another episode of Unstripted After 40, the podcast.
• 1:19
SPEAKER_01: Like I said before I start earlier, um, I wrote a check this week that my ass is gonna have to cash, okay?
• 1:28
SPEAKER_01: Because like I say, when when you talk to younger people and they're out there doing their little sport stuff and like that, and just like you know, I race against my son, I race against other people, um, weightlifting contests.
• 1:41
SPEAKER_01: I still do this shit.
• 1:42
SPEAKER_01: I still I still do crazy stuff that I shouldn't be doing at a man my age, right?
• 1:47
SPEAKER_01: So, but I do it just to let them know, hey, I still got it.
• 1:51
  SPEAKER_01: I I might be old, but I ain't weak, okay?
• 1:54
  SPEAKER_01: So it's a difference.
• 1:55
SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, like what's things say, I might not be a thug, but I ain't a bitch neither.
• 1:59
SPEAKER_01: So um I should have been a bitch this week.
• 2:04
SPEAKER_01: Um, especially when they start talking, but yeah, I I I I fucked up.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_01: But let me tell you what, let me let me get back and tell you the whole story.
• 2:12
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I was in the office at work, and there's some, I think they gotta be like maybe late 20s, early 30 guys in there talking, and you know, they're they're hype about, you know, this upcoming race they about to do.
• 2:30
SPEAKER_01: And then as they were talking about it, you know, I like to say, you know, man, I used to do races and stuff back in the day.
• 2:36
SPEAKER_01: Um, I used to run marathons a lot, you know.
• 2:39
SPEAKER_01: I used to do triathlons and, you know, try to prove myself to be, you know, superhuman, pretty much.
• 2:47
SPEAKER_01: Um, I failed that task trying to make sure I was superhuman, but I gave it a goddamn good try.
• 2:53
SPEAKER_01: But anyway, so they start talking about this tough mother, right?
• 2:59
SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you know what a tough mother is, but matter of fact, let me find on you two.
• 3:03
SPEAKER_01: I got something y'all can listen to.
• 3:04
SPEAKER_01: Oh, let's listen to this right here.
• 3:05
SPEAKER_01: I kind of explain what a tough mother is before I get into the story.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_02: CR Kids, if you're considering doing a tough mother for the first time, we're here to give you a sneak preview of what to expect.
• 3:15
SPEAKER_02: Now, most of the time, tough mothers start and finish the same way.
• 3:19
SPEAKER_02: They all begin with an inspiring speech.
• 4:40
SPEAKER_02: So there are rarely any penalties at Tough Motor for skipping or failing an obstacle.
• 4:44
SPEAKER_02: The idea is to go out there and complete as many as you can and have a good time.
• 4:48
  SPEAKER_02: So, not to worry.
• 4:50
SPEAKER_02: We have plenty of footage to show you how to handle these obstacles and I'm gonna stop right there.
• 4:56
SPEAKER_01: Y'all heard some of the names they use.
• 4:59
SPEAKER_01: Um, Stairwell the Hell, um, the landfill, um, Everest.
• 5:08
SPEAKER_01: These are the Top Mother is pretty much an optical course filled with fucking mud and water.
• 5:16
  SPEAKER_01: Okay?
• 5:17
  SPEAKER_01: Deep pits of mud.
• 5:18
SPEAKER_01: They got like they said the beards, the bearded net, the one they said the first time, it's pretty much a mud pit with a net over your head that you got to crawl up under and go and kind of you know shimmer yourself as you go through the thing.
• 5:31
SPEAKER_01: So take your time and go look at some of these tough mother videos, and now you'll kind of see what I'm talking about.
• 5:38
SPEAKER_01: It's a horrible, grueling logical course that you don't get penalized on for skipping part.
• 5:46
SPEAKER_01: But if you with friends, they're gonna rag you forever.
• 5:50
SPEAKER_01: Now, back in my younger days, I did one or two tough mothers when it was close to my area.
• 5:57
SPEAKER_01: Because tough mothers, um, they happen all over the world and they got some that goes on, but it usually happened in the summertime, so you can do one of tough mothers.
• 6:06
SPEAKER_01: So that's what they was talking about.
• 6:09
SPEAKER_01: They was talking about game planning on how they're gonna attack each obstacle course as they go through the tough mothers.
• 6:18
SPEAKER_01: And being that I went through one before, I opened my big ass mouth and told them, hey, think about doing this.
• 6:26
  SPEAKER_01: What about doing that?
• 6:27
  SPEAKER_01: What about doing this?
• 6:28
SPEAKER_01: You know, we're live reliving my glory days to give them some advice to be successful on their tough mother that they was gonna do by their self, not me.
• 6:41
SPEAKER_01: Cause like I said, I did it before, I know how the courses are, they are grueling, they are painful, they're fun for when I was young, when I was in my late 20s, early 30s.
• 6:55
SPEAKER_01: Now that I'm in my 40s, fuck you, fuck that course, I'm not doing it.
• 7:01
SPEAKER_01: But like the great motivator speaker I am, I motivated them to take on the challenge and go into it vigorously.
• 7:14
SPEAKER_01: And as they would kept on discussing, somehow I got looped into their plan to be successful.
• 7:24
SPEAKER_01: I don't even know how it happened.
• 7:25
SPEAKER_01: I'm still sitting here trying to figure out at what point did I volunteer to go with them and train for this tough mother.
• 7:37
SPEAKER_01: Tough mother, I make sure I say it right, this mud race that I didn't ask for or told them that I was even good at.
• 7:48
SPEAKER_01: Because back when I did it about 20 years ago, it was horrible.
• 7:52
SPEAKER_01: Yes, I made through all the obstacle courses and stuff like that and did all of them.
• 7:58
SPEAKER_01: N not successfully all of them, but they don't need to know that.
• 8:02
SPEAKER_01: As I was telling my story, shit.
• 8:04
SPEAKER_01: I hopped crossing in one leaping bound like Superman.
• 8:08
SPEAKER_01: Um, but I was reliving through my glory days.
• 8:11
  SPEAKER_01: That's all it was.
• 8:13
SPEAKER_01: We were just having a conversation between co-workers, and they took it too far.
• 8:21
SPEAKER_01: So now, um, I guess I'm doing a tough mother this summer because um they kind of bamboozled me into training with them now, and it starts next week.
• 8:37
SPEAKER_01: So I have to get my mind ready this week as I go forward and realize that 40-year-old Jeff is about to go out and do a tough mother that when late 20, late 30-year-old Jeff died on, I shouldn't shut my fucking mouth.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_01: But like I said, I was my mouth and and now we're doing a tough mother.
• 9:00
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so that that that that's what what's going on now.
• 9:04
SPEAKER_01: So as you see, it's optical events.
• 9:06
SPEAKER_01: So they explained to me, and like I'm gonna explain to y'all, as we were talking and discussing it, now it's seven optical courses, I guess.
• 9:13
SPEAKER_01: That's why I grabbed them from this conversation, because after they start talking to me about the whole situation, and I realized that I got roped into this situation, and now that I am got to be a participant within a team, and they're looking at me.
• 9:28
SPEAKER_01: I told them this is Walmart muscles.
• 9:30
SPEAKER_01: Like I these muscles don't work no more.
• 9:32
  SPEAKER_01: They just for show.
• 9:33
SPEAKER_01: Um, but to them, these muscles are capable and they are strong and they're ready to go.
• 9:42
SPEAKER_01: As you get my voice, I'm sad.
• 9:44
  SPEAKER_01: Um I'm I'm I'm a little depressed.
• 9:46
  SPEAKER_01: A little depressed.
• 9:48
SPEAKER_01: See if I can I like I said earlier, I think I said a couple other things.
• 9:52
SPEAKER_01: I need to see if I can fake an injury or something.
• 9:53
SPEAKER_01: You know, just a hamstring, just so I can get out of this.
• 9:56
SPEAKER_01: I don't wanna Yeah, because this tough mother is not what I sign up for.
• 10:01
SPEAKER_01: But but anyway, like I said, it's seven events, and like I say, what we are gonna do now, which I got wrapped into, we're gonna sit there and now we're gonna replicate the events near a park so that we can train for some of the events that we gotta do so we can get ready for this tough mother.
• 10:21
SPEAKER_01: And although I've been doing yoga, going to the gym more, running more, now I have to change my workout and I have to do the Rocky workout.
• 10:31
SPEAKER_01: I don't know if y'all remember Rocky, the last Rocky move, where they like, you got authorized in every part of your bones.
• 10:37
SPEAKER_01: Um, your vision is slacking.
• 10:41
SPEAKER_01: Um your reflexes is slow.
• 10:44
SPEAKER_01: So all we gotta do now is we're gonna work on pure power.
• 10:48
SPEAKER_01: Um I'm gonna have to work on pure gut and power.
• 10:54
SPEAKER_01: I have to dig deep in this gut to get this sucker out and make sure I'm ready to go.
• 10:59
  SPEAKER_01: Because yeah.
• 11:02
SPEAKER_01: Y'all y'all heard it pretty much about it.
• 11:03
  SPEAKER_01: And let me see.
• 11:04
SPEAKER_01: I I think I got another video that I'm gonna play for y'all so y'all can see um that how horrible this whole situation is and what they did and what I'm about to do.
• 11:16
SPEAKER_01: So take a look at this video, and then we're gonna come back and talk about it.
• 11:20
SPEAKER_03: Energy that kind of flows through everyone.
• 11:26
SPEAKER_03: Being here in the UK is absolutely amazing.
• 11:31
SPEAKER_03: I just woke up this morning and they got dressed up and they said, Hey, go do something stupid.
• 11:41
  SPEAKER_01: Three, two, one.
• 12:39
SPEAKER_03: I'm feeling better and better now that it's cooled down a little.
• 12:47
SPEAKER_03: I'm excited actually for the night.
• 12:56
SPEAKER_00: I think the knight is gonna just bring the good out in me.
• 13:06
SPEAKER_00: So I really want to do at least one lap in the dark.
• 13:12
  SPEAKER_02: Don't go to play.
• 13:22
SPEAKER_03: This is the best 24 hours of the year for me.
• 13:26
SPEAKER_03: This is where all my people are.
• 13:34
SPEAKER_00: I can I can't wait waiting for the sun to come up.
• 13:37
SPEAKER_00: To see that sun ride, take this wetsuit off, and wear some human clothes.
• 13:47
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's gonna be winners, but every single person that starts is gonna be a winner.
• 13:59
SPEAKER_01: Now that you saw the video and you see how happy these people look, I don't think I'm gonna be that happy.
• 14:07
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna see if I can take myself like they did and follow back up with this with y'all.
• 14:12
SPEAKER_01: Or, or, or I'm gonna see if I can fake injury.
• 14:17
SPEAKER_01: That's gonna be the that's gonna be plan A.
• 14:20
SPEAKER_01: Plan A is the fake injury.
• 14:23
SPEAKER_01: Plan B is to suck it up.
• 14:25
SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna see how it goes.
• 14:28
  SPEAKER_01: Thank you for watching.
• 14:30
SPEAKER_01: Tune back into next time, share with your friends, and let me know what topics y'all wanna talk about.
• 14:36
  SPEAKER_01: We're gonna keep rolling.
• 14:37
SPEAKER_01: Unstripped after 40, the podcast.
• 14:40
  SPEAKER_01: Until next time.
