Latest / Lisa & Russell / The Shaw Report - I Don't Care At This Stage If They Make Another Bond Movie
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: The Shaw Report. Oh, there's been so much talk and
- 0:08Speaker 1: speculation about who's going to be the next James Bond.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I just about don't care at this stage if they
- 0:13Speaker 1: actually never make another Bond film. I mean, Idris Elba
- 0:16Speaker 1: aged out during the debate. However, this weekend, things might
- 0:23Speaker 1: finally be coming to a head. I believe a very,
- 0:28Speaker 1: very select group of actors have been summoned to a
- 0:32Speaker 1: location in London where they will get in front of
- 0:36Speaker 1: a camera to screen test for the role. A final
- 0:41Speaker 1: decision is nigh. So they've just got to audition stage? No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 0:48Speaker 1: This is like the give us your best bond. This
- 0:52Speaker 1: is you, you know. It's like that last minute of
- 0:55Speaker 1: a political debate. Tell us why. According to several sources,
- 1:00Speaker 1: Callum Turner, the actor, who I think recently married Julie,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and Slow Horses actor Jack Loudon are definitely in the mix.
- 1:09Speaker 1: There could be more, or maybe it's come down to
- 1:13Speaker 1: just these two. Out of those two, I think I'd
- 1:17Speaker 1: rather Jack Loudon. I'm not as sold on Callum Turner
- 1:20Speaker 1: as some. Anyway. He may win you over. One thing
- 1:23Speaker 1: that does appear clear is that Ozzie Jacob Alordi is
- 1:27Speaker 1: not among them. He's out. He's out. Tom Skerritt, who
- 1:30Speaker 1: starred in the TV series Picket Fences, one of the
- 1:33Speaker 1: greatest shows on TV, and appeared in movies ranging from
- 1:37Speaker 1: Mashed to Alien, Top Gun, A River Runs Through It,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and Ted has died. Tom was 93. He has a long,
- 1:44Speaker 1: long resume. I thought he was in his 80s. I
- 1:47Speaker 1: didn't realize he was 93, and his publicist confirmed he
- 1:50Speaker 1: died of natural causes. Skerritt won an Emmy in 1993
- 1:55Speaker 1: for playing Jimmy Brock, sheriff of the oddball town at
- 1:58Speaker 1: the centre of David E. Kelly's picket fences. That was
- 2:00Speaker 1: the first in a long list of amazing David E.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Kelly shows, you know, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, just amazing.
- 2:08Speaker 1: He also appeared in The West Wing, Law and Order.
- 2:11Speaker 1: He was in Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke as
- 2:13Speaker 1: Cheech's cousin Strawberry. That's quite an acting range. It is.
- 2:16Speaker 1: And he was Shelby's father in Steel Magnolias. With I'm
- 2:20Speaker 1: a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, moving to Channel
- 2:23Speaker 1: 7 next year, they have announced the new hosts taking
- 2:26Speaker 1: over from Julia Morris and Robert Irwin. They've gone with
- 2:28Speaker 1: Rikki Lee from Australian Idol, Rikki Lee Coulter, and comedian
- 2:34Speaker 1: and 1% Club host Jim Jeffries. So what do you think?
- 2:39Speaker 1: I like Jim Jeffries. So they'll be off to the
- 2:42Speaker 1: South African jungle in the new year, and I have heard,
- 2:46Speaker 1: Top of Seven's wish list for celebs going in is
- 2:50Speaker 1: Home and Away's Irene Lynn McGrainger. Well, formally. Oh, really?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Home and Away's. Okay. Yeah. Well, I mean, they love her.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And now that Seven's got it, they've also got Sam
- 3:01Speaker 1: Pang on their wish list. So they're rolling out all
- 3:04Speaker 1: the Seven stuff. Funny that. You will go or you
- 3:08Speaker 1: will not work again. Read the fine print. Yeah. And
- 3:10Speaker 1: Tom Cruise is going to be honoured with the 52nd
- 3:14Speaker 1: AFI Life Achievement Award at a big Hollywood knees up
- 3:17Speaker 1: next April. This is regarded as one of film's highest
- 3:20Speaker 1: honours with previous recipients including Betty Davis, Alfred Hitchcock and
- 3:26Speaker 1: Meryl Streep. Maybe they could get his daughter Suri to
- 3:29Speaker 1: present it. It would be a lovely way for him
- 3:31Speaker 1: to meet her. Tom's had the highs and the lows
- 3:34Speaker 1: this year, hasn't he? The highs of that and Digger.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And Digger, yeah. Well, he won't be winning an Oscar
- 3:40Speaker 1: for Digger. He's a three-time Oscar nominee, but he's never won.
- 3:43Speaker 1: But last year, well, this year, he was awarded like
- 3:46Speaker 1: an honorary Oscar. It's like, no, that's just insulting. Unless
- 3:51Speaker 1: you're actually winning one, that's like the worst sort of,
- 3:56Speaker 1: you know, participation award I've ever heard of. Everyone gets
- 4:00Speaker 1: a ribbon. But he loved it. He's Tom Cruise.
