- 0:00Maria Pena: Thank you.
- 0:01Tad Eggleston: Good morning, everybody! Welcome back to the Love & Rockets Book Club on 22 Panels. I am joined by Maria Pena, who will have fabulous insights for us, but is also keeping us on the clock, because she's in some pretty warm country that, like.
- 0:15Tad Eggleston: Has family, and things that she hasn't seen in a while, and wants to vacation, because she's a crazy person and doesn't realize that comics are life.
- 0:24Tad Eggleston: Oh, wait a minute, no, I'm the crazy person, because I think that comics are life. Sorry about that, Maria, I got confused for a second.
- 0:34Tad Eggleston: And Marisol, I think, is still coming from cold Minnesota and wishing she was on the beach in Maria's background. Does that sound accurate?
- 0:42Marisol: Yeah, I'm finally back home.
- 0:45Tad Eggleston: Oh, you're back home.
- 0:45Marisol: the extra cold of Minnesota, so…
- 0:48Maria Pena: Oh, gosh.
- 0:50Tad Eggleston: I'm not going back.
- 0:51Marisol: So you only…
- 0:52Tad Eggleston: I wish that you saw… you only wish that you were on Maria's Beach as much as I wish that I was on Maria's Beach, which is today, 20 degrees lower than yesterday, I think? Yeah, 21 degrees right now.
- 1:07Maria Pena: Rose, guys.
- 1:08Maria Pena: Yeah, you should come over.
- 1:12Marisol: We'll pop by for a visit.
- 1:14Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I mean…
- 1:15Marisol: Too gross.
- 1:16Tad Eggleston: Figure out that teleportation technology.
- 1:20Maria Pena: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:22Tad Eggleston: Cause I got stuff that I have.
- 1:23Marisol: What do you have to do tomorrow?
- 1:24Tad Eggleston: Tomorrow.
- 1:25Marisol: Exactly.
- 1:27Tad Eggleston: So, we're gonna start off today with Luba Comics and Stories number 1.
- 1:32Tad Eggleston: Because we're still in the era where, where, Beto was just putting out
- 1:38Tad Eggleston: tons of work. So… so there had to be the… the Jaime and Beto book, but also…
- 1:45Tad Eggleston: the Beto book, and the other Beto book, and sometimes the other Beto book on top of that…
- 1:51Tad Eggleston: All going simultaneously. We're only handling one at a time, but Fritz and Petra is the first issue of Luba Comics and Stories.
- 2:03Tad Eggleston: and kind of a deep dive into… to these… I mean, what…
- 2:08Maria Pena: is there.
- 2:08Tad Eggleston: Continuity is the first really deep.
- 2:10Marisol: dive into it.
- 2:11Tad Eggleston: these characters.
- 2:15Maria Pena: Yeah, and we…
- 2:16Maria Pena: Yeah, we… at the beginning, though, there's an introduction by Luba, where she says, you know, I don't really know my sisters that much, but in this issue, you're gonna get to know them.
- 2:28Maria Pena: Yep. And then… and then it's a… the first story is the night of… the three of them go out together, and… and… and Luba's surprisingly quiet. She doesn't say anything for most of the story, because… and they keep talking to her.
- 2:44Tad Eggleston: Well, they keep talking to her in English, though.
- 2:46Maria Pena: In English, that's right, at the end.
- 2:48Maria Pena: realized, oh… She didn't understand.
- 2:51Maria Pena: bang.
- 2:52Marisol: Right. Hanging out with her hammer.
- 2:55Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 2:56Maria Pena: And then we see some, flashbacks to.
- 3:00Tad Eggleston: The, the, the Petra flashback, where…
- 3:04Tad Eggleston: Kinda looks like she'd blow anybody in high school.
- 3:08Maria Pena: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:10Maria Pena: And… Yeah, like, he's… It was actually kind of, like, it's actually kind of funny that…
- 3:17Tad Eggleston: That…
- 3:18Tad Eggleston: And, like, this is one of those places where I'm not a girl, so I have, like, no way to…
- 3:25Tad Eggleston: But, like, the sister dynamic between Petra and Fritz is, like, the Petra and Fritz that we know
- 3:33Tad Eggleston: I forget if Petra has found religion by the… by this point, but she will. And she's all prissy and gives Fritz a hard time for being…
- 3:44Tad Eggleston: Flirty or whatnot, but, like…
- 3:47Marisol: Yeah.
- 3:47Tad Eggleston: When they were younger, it was 180 degrees the opposite. Fritz wasn't… was in.
- 3:54Maria Pena: What's the idea.
- 3:54Tad Eggleston: Kind of, but… but not ready, and…
- 3:58Tad Eggleston: not outgoing, and shy, and… and Petra was just, like…
- 4:05Maria Pena: Yeah, putting it out there.
- 4:06Marisol: It's a wildfire.
- 4:07Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 4:09Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 4:10Tad Eggleston: So, this, this gave us, like, a,
- 4:13Tad Eggleston: Because Fritz has always had kind of that youngest sibling…
- 4:19Tad Eggleston: thing going. She's gotta, like, keep up with her sister, kinda be better than her sister, and… and, like, I mean, remember, our first meeting then was, like.
- 4:29Tad Eggleston: The horrible situation they had when their mom was… was…
- 4:35Maria Pena: Just out. Oh.
- 4:36Tad Eggleston: or out with men, like, all the time. You know, their childhood was… raw.
- 4:45Marisol: greatest.
- 4:46Tad Eggleston: There are… there are ways in which Petra is almost Fritz's mom.
- 4:51Tad Eggleston: Yeah, just…
- 4:54Maria Pena: Yeah, she's sort of modeling the behavior, isn't she? Yeah.
- 4:58Maria Pena: Oh, cool.
- 4:59Tad Eggleston: Well, and also, like, so brilliantly done, because, like…
- 5:05Tad Eggleston: If, like, you picked up this comic and didn't know any of the history,
- 5:14Tad Eggleston: You could look at it and go, oh, it's just exploitational, or even, not so exploitational that it's not fun, or whatever.
- 5:26Tad Eggleston: But then, if you go back and read any of the other comics, or you've been following along closely enough, it's like.
- 5:33Tad Eggleston: In this relatively fun comic, you know, maybe minus the part where she's helping her boyfriend shoot up.
- 5:43Maria Pena: Oh.
- 5:44Tad Eggleston: Yes.
- 5:45Maria Pena: Yeah, that was confronting.
- 5:48Marisol: Very loose term with boyfriend, I'd say.
- 5:50Tad Eggleston: Well, okay.
- 5:53Tad Eggleston: One of her…
- 5:55Maria Pena: Dealer who she blows.
- 5:57Marisol: Right. Yeah.
- 6:00Tad Eggleston: And yeah, this thing, yeah, like, this thing with…
- 6:05Maria Pena: Ritz kind of just bearing her booze to all these boys, and they all kind of pike out on her. Yeah.
- 6:15Maria Pena: Doesn't know how to… read the room? I don't know what… yeah, the older me.
- 6:22Tad Eggleston: I almost wonder if, if, like, there's an element of, like…
- 6:27Tad Eggleston: She's trying to be the bad girl, but she's still more attracted to the good boys.
- 6:34Tad Eggleston: Cause…
- 6:34Maria Pena: Yeah, and they're like, they're not…
- 6:38Tad Eggleston: They're overwhelmed by her forwardness.
- 6:41Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 6:41Marisol: Yeah.
- 6:42Marisol: Like, this is her punk rock phase right now. Right.
- 6:46Maria Pena: Hmm. But then, you know, she meets an actual adult man, and he goes for it.
- 6:51Maria Pena: Like the cop, you know.
- 6:54Marisol: Creek.
- 6:55Tad Eggleston: Look, look, look at her face there, I mean…
- 6:57Maria Pena: She's not enjoying it or anything.
- 7:00Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I… like… There's ambiguity left here…
- 7:08Tad Eggleston: But, I mean, this is rape just based on their… their disparity. It's a cop, and it's…
- 7:15Maria Pena: teenager, right? Yeah, yeah.
- 7:18Tad Eggleston: But…
- 7:19Maria Pena: Yep.
- 7:21Tad Eggleston: Well, also, just, like… I don't think that there's any situation where a cop who, like, is…
- 7:31Tad Eggleston: On duty, on patrol, and in a position where you're worried that you could be arrested.
- 7:38Tad Eggleston: Could… could have sex with you where we can truly say consent is given.
- 7:43Maria Pena: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:45Tad Eggleston: But her face…
- 7:47Marisol: Absolutely.
- 7:48Tad Eggleston: Her face, like, emphasizes that, yeah, like, you know.
- 7:52Maria Pena: She's, you know, dissociating or whatever, she's not.
- 7:55Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 7:57Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 8:00Marisol: Just kind of letting it happen.
- 8:02Maria Pena: But I think it's something that she wanted to go through, like, in a way, like, losing her virginity or whatever.
- 8:09Tad Eggleston: I mean, if either of the punks had been willing to, it would have been a whole different… scenario.
- 8:17Maria Pena: Right.
- 8:17Tad Eggleston: We're just kinda, like…
- 8:19Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 8:23Tad Eggleston: I don't know what to do with those.
- 8:26Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 8:28Tad Eggleston: Er, I guess not.
- 8:28Maria Pena: There she is.
- 8:29Tad Eggleston: Either, there were 3 of them. Three of them!
- 8:32Maria Pena: Yeah, they're all out, too, they're not.
- 8:34Tad Eggleston: And they're all like, .
- 8:40Maria Pena: Yeah, no.
- 8:43Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 8:44Marisol: Yay!
- 8:47Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 8:49Tad Eggleston: We hadn't allowed ourselves to think of you as a girl yet.
- 8:53Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 8:54Marisol: Right.
- 8:54Tad Eggleston: When you pull those out… Girl!
- 9:02Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 9:03Marisol: Boom!
- 9:05Tad Eggleston: I love the one in the glasses here.
- 9:08Marisol: Yep.
- 9:09Maria Pena: Another beer, yeah.
- 9:12Marisol: Just kind of, like, dares for a minute, and like, okay, I'm gonna get a…
- 9:15Tad Eggleston: The revolution will be televised, but not without words from our sponsor.
- 9:23Maria Pena: Hey.
- 9:24Marisol: And then.
- 9:25Tad Eggleston: And then the last guy, actually, he thinks he's got it, you know, you got the hee-hee.
- 9:30Maria Pena: And then he… He goes up, and it's like…
- 9:31Tad Eggleston: -oh, -oh…
- 9:33Marisol: Yo.
- 9:34Tad Eggleston: I think he might have even just come in his pants.
- 9:37Maria Pena: Maybe. Probably.
- 9:40Marisol: It was the embarrassment of the night.
- 9:42Maria Pena: Oh, actually, that… that seems to have been Jesus coming from his pants when… oh, no, that's his beer.
- 9:48Tad Eggleston: No, that's his beer. But, like, the double entendre is dead.
- 9:52Maria Pena: Definitely there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:58Maria Pena: Yeah, although, you know, he didn't make… he didn't draw, you know, like a wet patch or anything, so…
- 10:04Tad Eggleston: No.
- 10:06Tad Eggleston: But.
- 10:07Maria Pena: you know.
- 10:08Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah, poor Fritzy.
- 10:11Maria Pena: Yeah, that was very sad.
- 10:14Marisol: Yeah.
- 10:15Maria Pena: Oh, I, I.
- 10:17Marisol: themselves.
- 10:19Maria Pena: There was a scene before this when the three of them go and talk to some guy, and he says, there were three transvestites here.
- 10:27Marisol: Right.
- 10:29Maria Pena: I thought that was hilarious, because they're act down these days.
- 10:32Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 10:34Maria Pena: I went to buy a lottery ticket and some… they went to the bottle shop, to the… whatever you call it, the liquor store.
- 10:41Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 10:42Maria Pena: Yeah, I was like, wow, 3 transvestites were just in here.
- 10:48Maria Pena: Which kind of gives you a sort of an image of what they look like in real life. Like, you can think, wow, they have so much makeup on, and the enormous kids.
- 10:59Marisol: huge boobs.
- 11:00Tad Eggleston: Right. The short skirts…
- 11:03Maria Pena: Yeah, like, it's all, like, so, so, stereotypically female.
- 11:07Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 11:08Maria Pena: It's just that they're not really women, you know? They must be… Guys.
- 11:15Maria Pena: Alright.
- 11:16Maria Pena: That, therapist thing was really weird.
- 11:20Tad Eggleston: It was.
- 11:20Marisol: Yeah.
- 11:22Tad Eggleston: Therapist or school, it might be more guidance counselor than therapist.
- 11:27Tad Eggleston: I mean, particularly in that era, they were sometimes kind of used interchangeably. What does it say on the doors?
- 11:34Marisol: here.
- 11:35Tad Eggleston: Yeah, it just says…
- 11:36Marisol: Counselor.
- 11:38Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 11:38Maria Pena: Oh, yeah, okay.
- 11:39Tad Eggleston: So it can go either way.
- 11:41Maria Pena: Yeah. Oh yeah, because that's the teacher or something, leaving the…
- 11:46Tad Eggleston: Right? And it's definitely the one that, like… Is checked out already.
- 11:53Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 11:54Marisol: Yeah.
- 11:55Tad Eggleston: Meow.
- 11:57Tad Eggleston: I love the… LA punk rock stuff in the background.
- 12:09Tad Eggleston: Because that was definitely, definitely Jaime's scene, and Beto's scene at the time.
- 12:21Maria Pena: So then, she's… Fletcher is always…
- 12:27Marisol: Thank you.
- 12:28Tad Eggleston: always exercising in the background everywhere. Right, right, no, there's never a place She can't do pull-ups.
- 12:35Marisol: Hello.
- 12:39Tad Eggleston: Never a place where she can't do pull-ups.
- 12:43Tad Eggleston: And then… and I love this, the way that they balance this, where it's like, okay, we got this story of…
- 12:55Tad Eggleston: Petra and Luba and Fritz going out with flashbacks to their childhood, but now… Venus is gonna tell us how it… how it is.
- 13:05Maria Pena: is part of GU, I think?
- 13:08Marisol: Hey!
- 13:08Tad Eggleston: I love Venus. I love Venus.
- 13:12Tad Eggleston: It looks like a metabolic condition might be the answer.
- 13:23Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 13:30Tad Eggleston: And then the flashback to how she was made.
- 13:38Tad Eggleston: Have we met her dad before? I like that the…
- 13:41Marisol: Nope. Think so?
- 13:43Tad Eggleston: when we meet him, we immediately discover that, well… well, he and Petra didn't work, like…
- 13:50Tad Eggleston: Him and Venus are not.
- 13:52Tad Eggleston: A bad thing.
- 13:53Maria Pena: Mmm.
- 13:55Tad Eggleston: You know.
- 13:56Marisol: And also, is this the same Tanya that Petra…
- 14:01Marisol: I guess, threatened in the flashback of her, like, high school days?
- 14:06Tad Eggleston: Possibly.
- 14:08Maria Pena: Oh, I don't know.
- 14:11Maria Pena: Is that in this episode? That's right.
- 14:14Marisol: That's how I read it as anyway.
- 14:17Maria Pena: Yeah, well, probably.
- 14:18Tad Eggleston: This episode or less? That was.
- 14:20Maria Pena: Oh, yeah.
- 14:21Tad Eggleston: isn't it?
- 14:22Marisol: Just this one.
- 14:22Maria Pena: Oh, I see. Yeah, yeah, right, so that's… that could be… could be her, but with a… with a… with a buzz cut. You… you gotta go forward a bit.
- 14:32Maria Pena: It was a punk… the punk girl in the… Cafe, or whatever.
- 14:39Maria Pena: Yeah, and then they…
- 14:40Marisol: There she is.
- 14:42Maria Pena: They, they sort of, Break into their room, you know.
- 14:48Marisol: By her dad, who steals some stuff from her.
- 14:52Maria Pena: Yeah, so that… yeah, that's probably her, actually.
- 14:56Maria Pena: And she gets some homeless guy to call her, which is really… Very disturbing.
- 15:03Maria Pena: Yep.
- 15:08Maria Pena: Right, and then… and then Fritz has become this sort of… well, she… she found the… the guns, and…
- 15:16Marisol: Yeah. An interest for guns.
- 15:18Maria Pena: And she finds them empowering, I guess.
- 15:21Maria Pena: And then she uses them as a bit of a sexual,
- 15:26Maria Pena: Sort of, thing? Yeah, thing.
- 15:33Marisol: And then her avoiding her old high school counselor.
- 15:36Tad Eggleston: Yep.
- 15:37Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 15:39Maria Pena: Yeah. Hmm.
- 15:42Maria Pena: Sorry.
- 15:43Tad Eggleston: Next month, we'll get some peepo.
- 15:48Marisol: Yep.
- 15:49Marisol: And possibly, probably, Fortunato there in the background, foreshadowed.
- 15:55Maria Pena: Was it?
- 15:56Tad Eggleston: Fortunato!
- 15:57Maria Pena: Be it.
- 15:59Maria Pena: Oh yeah, that's for the mysterious Leva, yeah.
- 16:01Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 16:03Maria Pena: that mysterious, it's a fucking sign I'm.
- 16:05Marisol: Oh, no.
- 16:06Maria Pena: They've ever done.
- 16:06Tad Eggleston: He's got a neon sign, man.
- 16:11Tad Eggleston: This one starts…
- 16:12Marisol: He's an intern.
- 16:13Tad Eggleston: Shifting gears into Love & Rockets…
- 16:17Tad Eggleston: Number 4. First, this is, like, one of the most brutal covers I've ever seen on 11 Rockets.
- 16:22Tad Eggleston: You know, just the beat to hell.
- 16:25Tad Eggleston: Guy with the… Rough.
- 16:28Maria Pena: That eye is just like, oh dear.
- 16:30Marisol: Hmm.
- 16:32Maria Pena: Like…
- 16:34Tad Eggleston: Well, it's like, it's, like, bad with the bruising, but then when you see that it's, like, red rather than white and blue, it's like, ugh…
- 16:42Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 16:43Marisol: Yep.
- 16:43Maria Pena: Yeah, that's fine, that's…
- 16:45Marisol: We got some burst veins in there, and some bursts capillaries.
- 16:50Tad Eggleston: Right. And I think this is the first time 11 rockets has started with a Mario story. We lead off with Me for the Unknown.
- 17:00Marisol: It's been a minute since we've touched on this particular… I guess. Well…
- 17:05Tad Eggleston: It was in last year's show.
- 17:07Marisol: Continuation of the suitcase guy?
- 17:09Tad Eggleston: Yeah, this is a continuation of the Suitcase Guy, and it continues to be, like…
- 17:15Tad Eggleston: solid B-level action movie. It feels like almost.
- 17:19Marisol: the.
- 17:19Tad Eggleston: straight-to-video Van Damme movie.
- 17:23Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 17:24Tad Eggleston: like… It's not terrible, but it's not great, except that Jaime.
- 17:31Marisol: Hmm.
- 17:31Tad Eggleston: Draws the fuck out of it.
- 17:35Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 17:35Tad Eggleston: Beto.
- 17:36Maria Pena: I don't miss them.
- 17:37Tad Eggleston: Beto draws the fuck out of it. Yeah.
- 17:40Marisol: Yeah.
- 17:40Tad Eggleston: Jaime doesn't have time to do this, Jaime's… Perfecting everything else.
- 17:45Tad Eggleston: I think it's so funny how… the different pace the two of them work at.
- 17:50Maria Pena: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:51Tad Eggleston: But, like, the action, the perspectives…
- 17:56Maria Pena: Oh, yeah.
- 17:56Tad Eggleston: Room full of heads.
- 17:58Marisol: That was really, like, oh my god.
- 18:01Marisol: That was horrifying.
- 18:04Maria Pena: it kind of… that's from the floods, right? Like, that's not, like, a massacre or something.
- 18:10Tad Eggleston: The, the, the butler is finally tired.
- 18:14Maria Pena: Yes.
- 18:14Tad Eggleston: chair on his back.
- 18:15Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 18:17Tad Eggleston: And it doesn't seem like his guy is appreciative, and we have our, our, our… what is this, the, the…
- 18:25Tad Eggleston: The marzipan Organized Rescue and Empathy.
- 18:34Maria Pena: village.
- 18:37Maria Pena: It smells more… So funny.
- 18:39Tad Eggleston: more.
- 18:40Tad Eggleston: Well, it just… it does. It feels so much like the… the… the corporate charity… Oh, wow, we found
- 18:49Tad Eggleston: do. Where are the cameras?
- 18:51Maria Pena: Yeah, yep.
- 18:54Tad Eggleston: For that matter, I didn't even look. Is one of them a cameraman? Because, I mean, they should be.
- 19:00Maria Pena: No, it doesn'.
- 19:00Marisol: I don't think so.
- 19:01Tad Eggleston: No, it doesn't look like they are.
- 19:05Tad Eggleston: But there is the guy calling it in, so you gotta wonder, is he calling it in because they need help? Is he calling it in because we need to make certain that this altruism is properly publicized.
- 19:20Marisol: Right. Properly documented to… to brag about ourselves.
- 19:25Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I mean, remember when we liked to have videos of, of, of…
- 19:29Tad Eggleston: Doing good things to cover up our bad things, rather than, like, oh, let's put out the video of dropping a bomb on fishermen.
- 19:40Tad Eggleston: Let's put out the video where I… where I, I kicked the crap out of somebody who was just asking me questions.
- 19:50Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 19:50Marisol: What?
- 19:51Tad Eggleston: What?
- 19:52Maria Pena: They're just pushing those boundaries, you know.
- 19:54Tad Eggleston: When did we say…
- 19:56Maria Pena: Get away with it, and win…
- 19:57Tad Eggleston: Right. When did we stop at least wanting to pretend that we were good people?
- 20:03Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 20:05Maria Pena: It's no pretending anymore. Yes.
- 20:10Tad Eggleston: I mean, and this is playing with that, because you've got the more, but then you've got, like, the… the businessman with the…
- 20:16Tad Eggleston: I mean, he's in golf shorts and sunglasses and a polo shirt with a rocket launcher.
- 20:25Marisol: Because of course he is.
- 20:29Tad Eggleston: I mean, yeah!
- 20:32Tad Eggleston: I mean.
- 20:32Marisol: And I forget, is this girl's dad the suitcase guy?
- 20:36Maria Pena: Yeah, so that's her daughter. That's his daughter, sorry.
- 20:39Tad Eggleston: Well, and remember, this is his grand… this is her grandfather.
- 20:43Maria Pena: Yeah, that's right.
- 20:44Tad Eggleston: Who essentially, like, just passed her along to these people who are…
- 20:53Tad Eggleston: Trafficking her?
- 20:56Tad Eggleston: Yeah, we'll call it that.
- 20:57Marisol: gift?
- 20:58Marisol: Yes.
- 20:59Maria Pena: The old man with.
- 21:00Marisol: It was appropriate.
- 21:02Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 21:05Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 21:06Tad Eggleston: But then we have a wonderful Maggie and Hopi and Izzy story.
- 21:12Marisol: Yeah.
- 21:14Tad Eggleston: Izzy has gone… Completely off a rocker at this point.
- 21:18Marisol: Yeah. Yeah, so she's a little… Rudy Loops.
- 21:22Maria Pena: But thank… thankfully, Maggie's superhero tenant is around.
- 21:28Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 21:29Maria Pena: And hope he's got a crush.
- 21:32Tad Eggleston: You think?
- 21:36Maria Pena: You're done? She's fine. So are you.
- 21:40Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 21:41Tad Eggleston: Be my guest! Be my guest, too!
- 21:49Maria Pena: She likes a big butch woman, Hoppy. What's that about?
- 21:53Maria Pena: It's funny, I love this bottom left panel here on this page with just Izzy tied up on the floor and just saying, I'm missing my soaps, damn you.
- 22:03Tad Eggleston: Naked and tied up on the floor.
- 22:05Marisol: Yep.
- 22:06Marisol: I mean, like… Hair sprawled out on.
- 22:08Tad Eggleston: Like, like, like… never has…
- 22:14Tad Eggleston: a triangular patch between a woman's legs been any less erotic and any more appropriate than on Izzy in the last couple of issues, where just, like.
- 22:29Tad Eggleston: emphasizes how much she doesn't care anymore. We're just… we're just…
- 22:34Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 22:37Tad Eggleston: I don't even want to get dressed.
- 22:39Tad Eggleston: Just gonna…
- 22:40Marisol: Yep.
- 22:41Tad Eggleston: Not doing anything.
- 22:42Marisol: Not bad.
- 22:42Tad Eggleston: for myself or you.
- 22:46Maria Pena: Yep.
- 22:46Marisol: Just gonna vibe, I'm gonna carry around a fly swatter, then I'm gonna switch over to start carrying around it, just because.
- 22:53Tad Eggleston: Not even a steak knife, a carving knife. Carving knife. Steak knife would be… less scary.
- 23:04Maria Pena: I gotta cut those, cut the loops.
- 23:07Tad Eggleston: Falls into the pool.
- 23:10Tad Eggleston: And then you got all the flies and stuff. Full flies I'm ready to go now.
- 23:14Maria Pena: And, I love Maggie's… Maggie's monster face, the bottom.
- 23:19Tad Eggleston: Go to hell, Izzy, I've had it!
- 23:22Maria Pena: Oh, she's really had it, gosh.
- 23:28Tad Eggleston: And the Roy page is so much fun.
- 23:31Maria Pena: Yep.
- 23:33Tad Eggleston: Yes. Correct.
- 23:33Maria Pena: for…
- 23:34Tad Eggleston: Roy presents traditional uses for a corpse's hand.
- 23:40Marisol: Of course.
- 23:43Tad Eggleston: I think my favorite is the, the… .
- 23:48Marisol: I like hearing.
- 23:49Tad Eggleston: A dead man's hand can dispel tumors, veins, and swollen glands by stroking the hand on the area affected.
- 23:58Maria Pena: And it had to be of a person who died in the answer.
- 24:00Tad Eggleston: rough.
- 24:06Maria Pena: My favorite in this page was sad, but… but true.
- 24:10Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 24:10Maria Pena: Because they're the sort of memories that I have of beings, you know.
- 24:15Maria Pena: And I burned a whole bunch of my comics when I was a kid. Oh, yeah, no, no. I did a purge.
- 24:22Maria Pena: And it's like, oh, I'm not the only one.
- 24:25Tad Eggleston: The number of times kids will either destroy artwork because they suddenly decide that it's terrible for a moment.
- 24:34Maria Pena: Or…
- 24:35Tad Eggleston: Or destroy toys…
- 24:37Tad Eggleston: not even because they want to destroy the toy, but because they suddenly go, what would this look like in a microwave? And it's, like, amazing for a minute, and then it's like, oh, wait, but I really liked that.
- 24:50Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 24:50Marisol: Yeah.
- 24:51Tad Eggleston: And now it's gone.
- 24:53Maria Pena: Yep.
- 24:55Tad Eggleston: So yeah, no, that was very real. Yeah.
- 25:00Maria Pena: So Ru.
- 25:01Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 25:02Tad Eggleston: Very, very real.
- 25:05Tad Eggleston: And then… then we go back to.
- 25:08Maria Pena: The British.
- 25:10Marisol: in high school.
- 25:13Maria Pena: And then Fritzy starts, shadow.
- 25:16Tad Eggleston: Yeah, taken after Petra.
- 25:18Marisol: Yeah.
- 25:19Maria Pena: It starts blowing all the… all the… all the jocks.
- 25:24Tad Eggleston: I mean, she starts by actually having sex with one of the jocks, but he's like, oh, I didn't know you were a virgin. Don't worry, I won't tell anybody.
- 25:36Maria Pena: And then she'd say, yeah.
- 25:38Tad Eggleston: Hmm.
- 25:42Maria Pena: Yeah, she's not doing well there, because she's not being taken seriously.
- 25:46Marisol: No.
- 25:46Maria Pena: Not really getting a boyfriend, she's just…
- 25:48Tad Eggleston: And she's…
- 25:49Maria Pena: Being used.
- 25:50Tad Eggleston: Taking… She's not taking.
- 25:52Marisol: I swear, that guy with the beard… Looks 30. It's insanity.
- 25:58Marisol: How are you in high school?
- 26:03Maria Pena: They're jocks, they're not very bright, I guess it's the…
- 26:06Marisol: Fair.
- 26:09Maria Pena: Maybe he's repeated that. He does.
- 26:16Maria Pena: And then she.
- 26:17Tad Eggleston: He goes and meets this guy, and immediately, you know…
- 26:21Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 26:21Marisol: Yep.
- 26:22Tad Eggleston: I mean, this time, she's like…
- 26:25Tad Eggleston: This time, like, we know it's rape, but she doesn't.
- 26:31Maria Pena: Holy shit.
- 26:31Tad Eggleston: Like, oh, we're in love!
- 26:35Maria Pena: Mmm, this is a fully grown man, too.
- 26:38Tad Eggleston: Yep. Right.
- 26:40Maria Pena: And now… You are maybe…
- 26:42Tad Eggleston: This is where she actually learns the whole gun thing.
- 26:47Maria Pena: And then.
- 26:47Marisol: Jeez.
- 26:47Maria Pena: completely transformed.
- 26:50Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 26:51Marisol: Yep.
- 26:53Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 26:56Tad Eggleston: And then, I love these Maggie driving sequences.
- 27:00Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 27:01Marisol: Yes.
- 27:02Marisol: They're so good.
- 27:04Maria Pena: That's so…
- 27:05Marisol: I love how Izzy is… mostly in shadow throughout the whole thing. Right.
- 27:11Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 27:14Maria Pena: So, okay, I'll just cut.
- 27:17Tad Eggleston: And there's the… there's our death dog.
- 27:19Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 27:21Maria Pena: They're bulldog on, if you see.
- 27:22Marisol: on the guard.
- 27:25Tad Eggleston: And then we've got our Julio's Day installment.
- 27:33Tad Eggleston: Which is…
- 27:35Maria Pena: Coolio, though, is it?
- 27:37Tad Eggleston: No, they say that they call him Benjamin.
- 27:40Maria Pena: I ain'.
- 27:41Marisol: It's the baby brother.
- 27:44Maria Pena: And he's obviously very, very popular with the little girls.
- 27:49Marisol: Yeah, because the last time we read Julio's Day.
- 27:53Marisol: His parents had just had a baby, I think.
- 27:58Marisol: So that's this kid.
- 28:00Tad Eggleston: Yeah. No, Julio's right here.
- 28:04Maria Pena: Okay.
- 28:05Tad Eggleston: And after him into the woods.
- 28:07Maria Pena: Oh, yes, yes, okay.
- 28:09Marisol: When we find the… the ex-soldier.
- 28:13Maria Pena: Yeah, suddenly.
- 28:14Marisol: leaned up against a tree.
- 28:17Maria Pena: Oh, that is so heartbreaking.
- 28:20Tad Eggleston: Like you.
- 28:21Marisol: Yeah.
- 28:22Maria Pena: Like, you know, like, he's…
- 28:25Maria Pena: she's in the dirt naked, and I'm just like, that's not very… that's not very, you know, sal…
- 28:34Maria Pena: Not very salubrious, not very, what do you call it?
- 28:37Maria Pena: Very healthy to be…
- 28:41Maria Pena: Like that.
- 28:42Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, it kinda looks like he dragged himself out there.
- 28:50Tad Eggleston: I mean, based on the way the story's told.
- 28:52Tad Eggleston: Whereas people are not coming to get him.
- 28:59Marisol: It may be a regular thing.
- 29:02Maria Pena: Mmm.
- 29:03Tad Eggleston: Maybe a regular thing, and maybe just a, like… He can't be happy.
- 29:10Maria Pena: Oh, yeah.
- 29:11Marisol: No.
- 29:13Marisol: There's no.
- 29:13Tad Eggleston: You know, so, like, the best reading of it is that he does it because he takes some…
- 29:21Tad Eggleston: Joy in being outside, even if…
- 29:26Tad Eggleston: Everything, and the worst reading of it is, like, he just wants to stop having…
- 29:32Tad Eggleston: Everybody fawning over him, and he just wants to go off, and just, like…
- 29:36Maria Pena: Bye.
- 29:37Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 29:38Marisol: Be alone for a bit, yeah.
- 29:40Tad Eggleston: and die.
- 29:41Maria Pena: Yeah,
- 29:42Tad Eggleston: So, yeah.
- 29:52Tad Eggleston: Calling the girl's dogs, it's just terrible. Though calling the little girl a dog, I mean, this is just, like, terrible on top of terrible on top of terrible.
- 30:05Maria Pena: It's, it's kind of a…
- 30:07Marisol: Turn around from the beginning of the story, because at the beginning, we see Benjamin being a little shit.
- 30:13Marisol: And then now, we see him, like.
- 30:15Marisol: Helping somebody get some money back, and…
- 30:19Marisol: getting this girl away from these mean girls. Yeah.
- 30:25Maria Pena: Yeah, so he's sick.
- 30:28Maria Pena: Reviewing myself, oh, just broke my mouth.
- 30:32Tad Eggleston: Frogmouth!
- 30:34Maria Pena: So, hold on race women, again.
- 30:37Maria Pena: And… Yep.
- 30:39Maria Pena: Every turn of toil.
- 30:43Marisol: We haven't seen him in a while.
- 30:45Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 30:48Marisol: And now he apparently walks with a cane.
- 30:52Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 30:53Marisol: And looks very old. Yay.
- 30:56Tad Eggleston: Yeah, no, he's…
- 30:58Maria Pena: Yo!
- 30:58Tad Eggleston: Go to jail again?
- 31:00Tad Eggleston: Hard life. Yeah, I cannot remember.
- 31:04Maria Pena: So this is.
- 31:06Marisol: I don't remember if since the last time we saw him, he went to jail again or not, but he might have.
- 31:10Maria Pena: Like, it's been a rough couple years for Doyle.
- 31:15Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 31:16Tad Eggleston: This… panel… of… Ray brushing his teeth is just… Brilliant.
- 31:32Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 31:35Maria Pena: I like the one above… above it. That's great, too.
- 31:40Marisol: Yeah, like, I mean, that's.
- 31:41Maria Pena: Very classical, right?
- 31:43Maria Pena: But I just… And maybe a Raymond or anything else, like, it's really good.
- 31:48Tad Eggleston: But I just… I love the layers on this. You've got the medicine cabinet mirror and the outlet next to it, and you can tell he's in the middle of brushing his teeth. He, like, looks as bad as you could possibly look in the morning. And then you've got his thumb and the toothbrush, so, like, you have this… this serious… he's looking at himself in the mirror while he's brushing his teeth. It's just like…
- 32:12Maria Pena: It's his POV, you know, like, it's his point of view. Right. We are him, that's our hand, you know, that's his hand.
- 32:18Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 32:19Marisol: It's so cool.
- 32:27Tad Eggleston: And of course, you know.
- 32:30Maria Pena: There's a lot of head jobs on this issue.
- 32:33Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 32:33Marisol: Thank you.
- 32:34Maria Pena: That's the issue with most head jobs, ever.
- 32:37Maria Pena: And the last one is Doyle, apparently?
- 32:44Maria Pena: Gave Ray a pitch job, and Ray sort of saying, you know, when I'm that drunk, nothing happens.
- 32:53Maria Pena: And Bill goes, yeah, I noticed.
- 33:00Maria Pena: Boom.
- 33:00Marisol: And he finally gets… it clicks for him with that whole, like…
- 33:05Marisol: turn over, I guess, turn over a new leaf thing Doyle was talking about.
- 33:14Marisol: He says in that panel… what's it.
- 33:17Marisol: I still can't figure out who the new Doyle is by all of this, but the more I dwell on it, the closer I'm getting to the cause of my embarrassed, doomed gut feeling, then pow, it hits me like locust mo… locust motive.
- 33:30Maria Pena: Look, Chris.
- 33:30Marisol: It's not locomotive, I missed that one.
- 33:33Tad Eggleston: Go's motive, yeah.
- 33:36Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 33:40Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 33:46Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 33:48Marisol: Hmm.
- 33:48Tad Eggleston: I love that this man…
- 33:49Maria Pena: I'm gonna ask.
- 33:51Tad Eggleston: includes the comic shop that I discovered Love & Rockets at.
- 33:54Maria Pena: Chicago Comics on Clark Street. Is it still there?
- 33:59Tad Eggleston: It is. It is. I was actually talking…
- 34:02Tad Eggleston: I was actually talking to a friend of mine who'll be doing a signing there right before C2E2.
- 34:06Maria Pena: That's awesome.
- 34:07Marisol: Nice!
- 34:08Tad Eggleston: So, man.
- 34:09Maria Pena: Any of these, are they all, still, do you think, around, or maybe not?
- 34:14Tad Eggleston: I know.
- 34:14Maria Pena: Yeah, long time ago.
- 34:15Tad Eggleston: is…
- 34:16Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 34:17Tad Eggleston: Jim Hanley's universe is now JHU, because Jim Hanley died, but his two…
- 34:26Tad Eggleston: Earliest employers took over the shop.
- 34:29Maria Pena: Okay.
- 34:30Tad Eggleston: And I don't know if they still have their 23rd Street location?
- 34:35Tad Eggleston: At one point, they were up to, like, 4 locations, now I think they might be down to just the one on Staten Island. Laughing Ogre is still around.
- 34:46Tad Eggleston: Alternate reality and Comicopia, I don't know… For certain.
- 34:54Maria Pena: Hmm…
- 34:55Tad Eggleston: Cause… cause I haven't been to either of them.
- 34:58Tad Eggleston: But… but…
- 35:01Maria Pena: I knew…
- 35:01Tad Eggleston: 4 of them are around, and I have… and 3 of them I have gone to since… since 22 panels began.
- 35:08Tad Eggleston: And the other one I've ordered comics from and get regular emails from.
- 35:14Tad Eggleston: So…
- 35:15Maria Pena: Cool.
- 35:15Tad Eggleston: So, this tells you that, like, is selling low.
- 35:19Maria Pena: The Rockets.
- 35:20Tad Eggleston: We'll keep you in business.
- 35:22Maria Pena: Yep.
- 35:22Marisol: Yeah.
- 35:23Maria Pena: That top, that, that, that, the back, you know, cover… I know that's my favorite.
- 35:30Marisol: Hmm.
- 35:31Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 35:31Maria Pena: I forgot about it, but…
- 35:33Tad Eggleston: That's a great panel.
- 35:34Marisol: That's cool.
- 35:36Maria Pena: That is so good, those shadows are so good.
- 35:40Tad Eggleston: It's a great, great, great panel.
- 35:44Maria Pena: Sorry.
- 35:46Maria Pena: Which.
- 35:50Tad Eggleston: So, so that, that, that answers the first question.
- 35:54Tad Eggleston: Maria's going with the top of…
- 36:01Tad Eggleston: The top of the back cover for her favorite…
- 36:05Maria Pena: I'm nitpanel.
- 36:05Tad Eggleston: favorite Jaime panel.
- 36:10Maria Pena: And,
- 36:14Maria Pena: I… I'll have to re…
- 36:16Tad Eggleston: Charlotte.
- 36:17Maria Pena: I have to remember which one. I did have a Bezel pedal, but I can't…
- 36:23Tad Eggleston: I think my Jaime panel is gonna be the… the ray shaving.
- 36:31Tad Eggleston: I just… I love it when I see an angle that…
- 36:37Tad Eggleston: That's just not quite like anything I've seen before.
- 36:42Tad Eggleston: Particularly when it's, like, deceptively so. Like, if you're reading quickly, this… this doesn't look like…
- 36:49Tad Eggleston: anything out of the ordinary. But if, like, you look at it, it's like, oh, this is, like… this is… this is not quite a straight angle, because, like, the background is, like, cross… like…
- 37:00Tad Eggleston: So he's looking at the mirror at an angle, like…
- 37:04Tad Eggleston: Just so much going on in this.
- 37:06Marisol: Oh, you mean like the brushing of teeth angle? The panels?
- 37:09Tad Eggleston: Right. The, the, the, yeah, the brush… yeah.
- 37:16Tad Eggleston: Just so many…
- 37:17Marisol: I don't be…
- 37:18Tad Eggleston: on.
- 37:21Maria Pena: Yeah, the perspective on that one was fun.
- 37:24Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 37:26Marisol: I think mine'll have to be the Izzy, tied up, naked on the floor, complaining about missing her soaps.
- 37:34Tad Eggleston: That, that, that, that's probably my number 2.
- 37:39Marisol: It's so ridiculous.
- 37:46Marisol: They go too fast.
- 37:46Tad Eggleston: bar already.
- 37:49Tad Eggleston: No, I didn't.
- 37:53Tad Eggleston: Yeah, there we are.
- 37:54Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 37:55Maria Pena: Yeah, it's good.
- 37:56Marisol: Yep.
- 38:01Maria Pena: Not even, don't worry.
- 38:04Maria Pena: Hmm.
- 38:06Maria Pena: Yeah, that's a great pedal. And the round, the round shape.
- 38:11Tad Eggleston: Huh.
- 38:12Marisol: Like, kind of a spotlight.
- 38:15Tad Eggleston: I think… I think for me, for Beto.
- 38:18Tad Eggleston: I'm gonna have to go to that first story, just because, like, it shows off…
- 38:28Tad Eggleston: So much skill that we don't…
- 38:33Tad Eggleston: Normally see, because we don't need to.
- 38:35Tad Eggleston: I mean, like, like…
- 38:37Tad Eggleston: Nothing that it's surprising that he can do, but just, like, different types of panels than we're used to.
- 38:44Tad Eggleston: But I think the one I'm going with is… is the… the,
- 38:51Tad Eggleston: Butler hanging onto the tree for dear life, the…
- 38:56Tad Eggleston: the rich man yelling at the kid, and more showing up.
- 39:05Tad Eggleston: With the wonderful plants in between.
- 39:08Marisol: Yep.
- 39:10Tad Eggleston: You know, big, big broad brushstroke plants.
- 39:15Tad Eggleston: Yeah, that's my winner.
- 39:23Marisol: Oh, that's funny.
- 39:26Marisol: They show up with a sign and… or a flag and everything.
- 39:30Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 39:33Tad Eggleston: And they're on the phone, and, like, yeah.
- 39:36Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:39Marisol: Though I do like this egghead with the mustache, too.
- 39:43Maria Pena: Yes, totally.
- 39:45Marisol: Yeah. That's probably…
- 39:47Tad Eggleston: That's probably my favorite… that's probably my favorite individual, like, character shot.
- 39:54Tad Eggleston: Not whole panel. It's this egghead with the mustache.
- 40:00Tad Eggleston: Talking about pants.
- 40:12Maria Pena: Yeah, so… For me…
- 40:17Tad Eggleston: We got 2 whole books to look at for Beto.
- 40:20Maria Pena: I know.
- 40:21Tad Eggleston: I can, I can…
- 40:22Marisol: Mine will have to be the end of…
- 40:26Marisol: The other book's first story, where…
- 40:29Marisol: Petra and Fritz realize they've been speaking English the whole time, and Luba has not understood a single word they've said.
- 40:35Tad Eggleston: Baa.
- 40:36Tad Eggleston: That… that was, it was pretty epic.
- 40:41Marisol: I was just… Too funny.
- 40:44Tad Eggleston: Where was that exactly?
- 40:48Marisol: Yes.
- 40:49Tad Eggleston: So… so…
- 40:50Marisol: and other people.
- 40:51Tad Eggleston: the whole… No, it's right here.
- 40:54Marisol: Yeah, there it is.
- 40:56Tad Eggleston: So, so, like, just the one panel where they figure it out, or…
- 41:03Marisol: No, I'd say the whole bottom half of this page, the last.
- 41:05Tad Eggleston: So, so the four panels…
- 41:09Tad Eggleston: Yeah. Though that one panel, the look on Fritz… the look… the smirk on Luba's face, combined with the… the shock…
- 41:19Tad Eggleston: on…
- 41:22Marisol: Yo!
- 41:22Tad Eggleston: Fritz and, and, and, and Petra is just like…
- 41:28Marisol: It's great. It's so funny.
- 41:34Maria Pena: I think my… my favorite is that little story, the whole little story, sad but true, that really grabbed me, because I really related to that, so…
- 41:45Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 41:46Maria Pena: I don't know what to make mine.
- 41:48Marisol: That one.
- 41:51Maria Pena: Yeah, that was suck.
- 41:52Tad Eggleston: That, that was, that was in the… that was in the Lovin' Rockets, right?
- 41:58Marisol: Yeah.
- 42:00Tad Eggleston: We'll see. I don't know. I think the Roy page was in…
- 42:04Maria Pena: I think it was.
- 42:05Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:08Maria Pena: Oh yeah, there it is, okay, yeah.
- 42:09Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I think that's good. In true Mad Magazine
- 42:15Tad Eggleston: form, though. It's not sad but true. It's sad but true department.
- 42:21Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 42:22Marisol: Unmute.
- 42:26Maria Pena: Yep.
- 42:28Tad Eggleston: Like, a recurring theme on this…
- 42:35Tad Eggleston: On the podcast lately, as we've talked about a number of things.
- 42:40Tad Eggleston: has been The Chris Farley Show. Are either of you enough of Saturday Night Live fans where you know what I'm talking about with The Chris Farley Show? So, Chris Farley had a regular bit.
- 42:51Tad Eggleston: Where he was a talk show host?
- 42:55Tad Eggleston: We'd have, like, a guest on, And it'd be like…
- 42:59Tad Eggleston: like, Paul McCartney was the guest. He's like, remember… remember…
- 43:04Tad Eggleston: Remember when you were in the Beatles? And Paul.
- 43:07Maria Pena: Yay.
- 43:08Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah, Chris, I… That was awesome! Ugh, I'm so stupid!
- 43:14Marisol: Yeah.
- 43:15Maria Pena: You talked about this last week, I think.
- 43:17Tad Eggleston: Okay, so… but… because it's been a recurring theme in enough places where we've been gushing over books to the point where we've run out of things, and we've just felt like we've fallen into
- 43:31Tad Eggleston: into Chris Barley land.
- 43:32Tad Eggleston: that I have to emphasize that, like, the fact that we don't do that with Love and Rockets, 73 episodes in…
- 43:46Tad Eggleston: Is crazy to me.
- 43:48Maria Pena: That's because it's so, you know.
- 43:50Tad Eggleston: It's… it's crazy to me.
- 43:52Maria Pena: So, awesome.
- 43:53Tad Eggleston: Well, it is, but we never actually find ourselves just saying, oh, they're awesome. I don't know what to say.
- 44:00Marisol: Yeah, well, so there's always something new to talk about.
- 44:03Tad Eggleston: Exactly.
- 44:04Marisol: Story-wise, or artistically.
- 44:06Tad Eggleston: Exactly. I mean, even as I'm just looking at this page, Look at that corpse's hand!
- 44:14Marisol: Yeah.
- 44:15Maria Pena: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:16Tad Eggleston: And the traditional uses for a corpse?
- 44:21Maria Pena: Not the, you know, not the modern uses, the traditional use.
- 44:25Marisol: Yeah. I mean…
- 44:26Tad Eggleston: This whole page belongs in Classic Mad Magazine.
- 44:30Maria Pena: Yeah.
- 44:33Tad Eggleston: Just… For giggles. And using characters that we don't know before. We've had Roy!
- 44:39Tad Eggleston: It's not like this is, you know, just…
- 44:42Tad Eggleston: I love this! I love that, like, again, we are… I think this is our 73rd.
- 44:50Tad Eggleston: Love and Rockets Book Club.
- 44:54Tad Eggleston: And I don't feel like we… we've gotten to the, maybe we should read more of it at a time, because we don't have anything to say point. And I just… I thank you guys for that, because, like, you are… are…
- 45:10Tad Eggleston: are, are, like…
- 45:12Tad Eggleston: definitely doing a lion's share of the lifting on this one, because I… I feel… I feel like I could fall into Love and Rock, or I could fall into Chris Farley land if… if I didn't have you guys…
- 45:24Tad Eggleston: Keeping the game high enough that I gotta… I gotta… I gotta meet you.
- 45:30Tad Eggleston: Wow.
- 45:31Tad Eggleston: So yeah, as we head into the holidays, and almost 3 years worth of
- 45:38Tad Eggleston: Love and Rockets Book Club, I thank you.
- 45:41Tad Eggleston: immensely, and
- 45:44Tad Eggleston: For Maria Pena and Marisol, this has been Love & Rockets Book Club on 22 Panels.
- 45:50Tad Eggleston: And we will see you after the next page.
