- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice, Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Hey guys, and welcome back to part two of Dirty Rush.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm in the San Francisco Bay area for the Big Game,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and I'm sitting here with some sorority girls asking them
- 0:21Speaker 1: some burning questions. Do you guys know this? I don't
- 0:24Speaker 1: even know what these are, but what are houseboys?
- 0:27Speaker 2: I think it's like a hasher in the sorority house.
- 0:31Speaker 3: So my sority house had open positions for fraternity boys
- 0:37Speaker 3: to work in our kitchen, and so they would do
- 0:40Speaker 3: the dishes, they would serve us food. They wore uniforms,
- 0:43Speaker 3: and they loved it because then they would come and
- 0:45Speaker 3: sit with us and chit chat.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Really, but we didn't have that funny.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't have them money because of COVID, but
- 0:52Speaker 3: they were all cute, Like I mean, that is kind
- 0:54Speaker 3: of fun.
- 0:54Speaker 2: You would walk around clean.
- 0:56Speaker 1: That would give you know, some brownie points. I go, yeah, yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 1: were any romances sparked from it?
- 1:01Speaker 3: No, not that I know. Really.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Yeah. Actually, the girls we sed opportunity and in the house.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Oh my god, did they have to shout that when
- 1:08Speaker 3: they're on the floor. We had one handy man, and
- 1:12Speaker 3: you would always have to shout.
- 1:13Speaker 4: That poor boys allowed to sleep over your guys's houses.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Well, see, that was my next question. Do girls sneak
- 1:18Speaker 1: boys into the house a lot? I think I all
- 1:21Speaker 1: the time? Yeah at my sorority because it wasn't allowed.
- 1:24Speaker 1: It wasn't allowed ours.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Is that you just need to tell everyone if your
- 1:29Speaker 5: boyfriend sleeping over? Everyone like textan oh yeah, wait, you
- 1:33Speaker 5: were allowed to have your boyfriend sleepover. I mean I
- 1:36Speaker 5: think maybe my my, it's already is extremely chilly.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Wait we were.
- 1:40Speaker 6: Yeah, it was like we take a vote at the
- 1:42Speaker 6: beginning of the year, and like the group votes on
- 1:45Speaker 6: if guys are going to be allowed.
- 1:46Speaker 5: But also like, no one would ever do that if
- 1:48Speaker 5: they weren't in a single, Like I've never heard of
- 1:50Speaker 5: anyone having their boyfriend sleepover if they're in like a
- 1:52Speaker 5: double or a quad or the ten person room, like
- 1:55Speaker 5: that would never happen.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Oh my god, I do know that.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I mean even even a double, I mean that's you're
- 2:00Speaker 1: in a dorm room.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I mean I think most people just did it,
- 2:03Speaker 5: Like I know for certain, there's been times when girls
- 2:06Speaker 5: have boyfriend's visiting and they literally I know one guy
- 2:09Speaker 5: stayed in our house for like a full week. He
- 2:11Speaker 5: literally just brought his bags and moved in for a week.
- 2:14Speaker 5: And I swear the broommate was just kicked out, like
- 2:17Speaker 5: for the week. She just had to sleep elsewhere. But
- 2:21Speaker 5: I did hear a story in my house that a
- 2:23Speaker 5: girl was leaving and we have a like a fire
- 2:26Speaker 5: escape and you're not technically supposed to use it because
- 2:29Speaker 5: obviously it's for emergencies, but she was running late for
- 2:31Speaker 5: class and it was closer to her room. She goes
- 2:33Speaker 5: down the fire escape and there's a guy sleeping on
- 2:36Speaker 5: a mattress in the fire escape, and I guess he
- 2:38Speaker 5: had blacked out and that was where he had found
- 2:40Speaker 5: a place to crash for the night because they kept
- 2:43Speaker 5: like the extra in the beginning of the semester, they
- 2:45Speaker 5: kept the extra like mattress toppers in the fire escape
- 2:48Speaker 5: before they got thrown out, And so he literally like
- 2:51Speaker 5: used a mattress topper as a bed and then used
- 2:53Speaker 5: another one on top of him as a blanket and
- 2:55Speaker 5: was passed out in the in the fire escape. Yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 5: later she took a picture of him, was like, hey,
- 3:02Speaker 5: anyone know who this is?
- 3:04Speaker 2: The groups?
- 3:10Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 3:12Speaker 1: One word to describe initiation ceremonies olty.
- 3:17Speaker 4: It's weird, kind of boring.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I just.
- 3:22Speaker 5: Think hangover every time I've had always when you're hungover to.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I think it was more of a thing back then.
- 3:28Speaker 3: I think it was more special. People enjoyed it, like
- 3:32Speaker 3: the all white outfits. Oh my gosh, the alumni and
- 3:36Speaker 3: the founders. It's so mad if you don't, and the advisors.
- 3:39Speaker 5: If you're not on it and you're not like super yeah, yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 5: long sleeves. You can't take any pictures, you can't explain
- 3:48Speaker 5: anything anyone else. You can't even do share any of
- 3:52Speaker 5: the ceremony with anyone.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Yeah, like the code like come to find out everyone
- 3:58Speaker 3: goes to the same initiation. Yeah, then you talk about it,
- 4:00Speaker 3: And I didn't think it was anything special. Hungover on
- 4:03Speaker 3: a Sunday, Say, if.
- 4:05Speaker 4: They did it like a better day, it would be
- 4:07Speaker 4: more into it.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Probably they did it on a Thursday, because then it
- 4:10Speaker 3: would set.
- 4:11Speaker 1: It up for like we're in shited Friday.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Let's go. Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they probably wanted to prevent partying.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Some of like my swarties, like their moms would be
- 4:21Speaker 6: like had been in that swarty and would come initiate them,
- 4:24Speaker 6: like that's good.
- 4:25Speaker 4: We didn't really have a lot of that.
- 4:27Speaker 3: But honestly, I just like when you're hungover and you're
- 4:30Speaker 3: kind of like what's without the information of what's going on,
- 4:35Speaker 3: it's I feel like it's not as like special. It's like, oh, wait,
- 4:38Speaker 3: what are you doing here? I'd love that you're here,
- 4:41Speaker 3: but like, wish it wasn't in a dark room in
- 4:44Speaker 3: a white.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Robe while we're like saying something off a script. Yeah, yeah, weird.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's just nice to be in the sorority.
- 4:53Speaker 6: Go listen to the other episode, yeah, to hear more
- 4:56Speaker 6: about it. We already talked about it.
- 4:59Speaker 1: What's the biggest reason girls actually drop? I think they
- 5:04Speaker 1: just realized they don't need a sorority anymore and they're
- 5:06Speaker 1: tired of paying the dudes.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I say, do jos.
- 5:11Speaker 6: So expensive, so expensive, and people are just like like
- 5:14Speaker 6: a lot of schools, you just don't even need to
- 5:16Speaker 6: be in a sorority, Like I know, sense schools, it's
- 5:18Speaker 6: like you have to be in one to go to
- 5:19Speaker 6: the parties, but like a lot of them, it's not
- 5:21Speaker 6: like that. And it's like, why am I paying all
- 5:23Speaker 6: these dues, especially once you're like a senior, like not
- 5:26Speaker 6: going to chapter anyway.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it was definitely senior.
- 5:30Speaker 3: But I feel like people junior were like, all right,
- 5:32Speaker 3: we're not living in the house. We don't really need
- 5:36Speaker 3: to be going to the mixers anymore, So then why
- 5:39Speaker 3: are we paying the dues?
- 5:40Speaker 2: Don't want to go to chapter? It was mainly for
- 5:42Speaker 2: like formal.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Did you guys go to the mixers like until you
- 5:45Speaker 6: graduated or did the seniors kind of.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Not we'd stopped going senior year, we'd go.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I would say it was very odd to go to
- 5:54Speaker 1: a mixer, like if anything as a senior, like we
- 5:58Speaker 1: were mostly at the bars.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Yeah, junior year you live out of the sorty house
- 6:04Speaker 3: and so everyone's really excited to throw parties and throw
- 6:08Speaker 3: themed parties because you're in control as opposed to having
- 6:11Speaker 3: to party at the fraternity houses.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Is that you have a similar timeline. We like always
- 6:15Speaker 1: partied at the fraternity houses. Oh really, as we wouldn't
- 6:19Speaker 1: have our own parties.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Really, No, do you live in apartments or houses both?
- 6:24Speaker 5: Oh?
- 6:25Speaker 2: We always like sophomore year we stopped it was junior year.
- 6:28Speaker 1: It was like fun because it was like everyone's turning
- 6:31Speaker 1: twenty one, you sold the house three games. No, I
- 6:34Speaker 1: never lived in the house because it was COVID, right,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and so they got sent home and that was when
- 6:40Speaker 1: I was supposed to live in the house. But then
- 6:43Speaker 1: I ended up getting an apartment and then it was COVID,
- 6:47Speaker 1: so then I just was home and I never.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Ended up living like crazy.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It also wasn't obligated for me to live in the house,
- 6:55Speaker 1: but then the year after that they made it an
- 6:58Speaker 1: obligation because they had to start like forcing girls to
- 7:01Speaker 1: live in the house. Oh guys, something with the dudes
- 7:05Speaker 1: or you know, fulfilling the house.
- 7:07Speaker 4: You think you have to fill it like nationals.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, makes you feel it, yeah, because ours just
- 7:11Speaker 6: different every year.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Like some years like all the girls are like fighting, but.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Then junior year, I feel like you are turning twenty one.
- 7:18Speaker 1: So everyone's super excited to like host like pre games,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Like we honestly just hosted a.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Lot of pre games. Yeah, oh my gosh, say you're
- 7:24Speaker 4: twenty one is the best?
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Like it just was never anything.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Crazy, Yeah pre games and bars, yeah, no more frats
- 7:34Speaker 5: and mixers.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and then it was like randomly like, oh, let's
- 7:36Speaker 1: go to the frat just to like have some fun.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I think senior year we all still went, but
- 7:41Speaker 6: bussing was always annoying, Like no one wanted to bus,
- 7:44Speaker 6: so we'd like try to just uber from the part
- 7:46Speaker 6: the pre party, and we'd get in trouble and we'd
- 7:48Speaker 6: leave early and not go on the bus either. We
- 7:51Speaker 6: had to like bus, and it was like a whole thing,
- 7:53Speaker 6: like where to the formals? Like you would get on
- 7:56Speaker 6: these buses oh party bus yeah yeah, but they were
- 7:59Speaker 6: like huge bus like the coach buses. Yes, and like
- 8:03Speaker 6: that was like a whole part of it is like
- 8:05Speaker 6: if you didn't get on the bus, Yeah, that's it's kind.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Of like a safety completely.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Senior year for sure. Yeah, still went to the formals
- 8:13Speaker 1: and stuff for the sorority. But I'm saying, did you
- 8:15Speaker 1: still go to frat parties? Oh yeah your senior year?
- 8:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah, fun.
- 8:20Speaker 4: That's like not a thing.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah we did not. That was only sophomores.
- 8:24Speaker 4: There's one party that.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Because it's then it's like girls in like little shorts yea,
- 8:29Speaker 3: and you're just like why are you grinding on a
- 8:31Speaker 3: boy in front of me?
- 8:32Speaker 4: We will know, Yeah, like you get over it.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why it was like junior and senior year
- 8:37Speaker 1: mainly the bars, but then it was fun to always
- 8:39Speaker 1: like pop over to like be like, oh, we're actually
- 8:42Speaker 1: the cool kid.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Yeah, like hanging with the guys that are like seniors
- 8:46Speaker 6: that your friends were. Yes, and sometimes we would have
- 8:48Speaker 6: like guys off campus who would like throw like junior
- 8:51Speaker 6: senior parties, so like freshman sophomores weren't invited.
- 8:55Speaker 4: So those were like, oh got it, Yeah we're the
- 8:57Speaker 4: cool kids.
- 9:13Speaker 1: What's the worst date you've had from greek life?
- 9:17Speaker 3: I actually didn't go on any dates when I was
- 9:20Speaker 3: in college.
- 9:21Speaker 1: What Yeah, my.
- 9:23Speaker 4: First guys would like ask that was like not a
- 9:27Speaker 4: thing I.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Didn't Yeah, my first date was post graduation.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I mean I had a boyfriend.
- 9:35Speaker 2: So you would go on.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Dates like during the weeks, like me and Christian on
- 9:39Speaker 1: a date yeah, yeah, like to drinks and dinner.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Interesting, I mean exactly an adult thing to do.
- 9:47Speaker 4: People use hinge a lot like in college.
- 9:49Speaker 1: In college, wait, like what do you mean you didn't
- 9:52Speaker 1: like if a guy wanted to hang out with you,
- 9:54Speaker 1: like you didn't take you to dinner?
- 9:55Speaker 3: No, it's okay, Yeah, he we would make sure that
- 10:01Speaker 3: you meet up at the middle.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Of Yeah, sneaky ling, Yeah, I loved sneakying.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Just reationships and sneaky links.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I just don't have to, Like I was just prude.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I guess well I had a boyfriend.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the people would be in the standard this, this, that.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Should be the normal thing.
- 10:22Speaker 1: That's so funny. What if someone snores or is stinky.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I think this applies to the to the sleeping porch, yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 3: which none of us experience, but I think that would
- 10:37Speaker 3: be the.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Snoring is awful. You need to get like earplugs really bad.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And then also like stinky, that's just gross, like shower.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I hate people with that approach. Someone that doesn't smell good,
- 10:50Speaker 3: like and maybe they're a friend.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I think it's like so rude to tell somebody you smell.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But I'm not kidding, Like, if I'm around someone that smells,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I get so was so so so grossed.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I've done it well.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Like people's breath.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's easy. Oh, but you don't need one.
- 11:16Speaker 3: I did tell this one girl because she borrowed my
- 11:18Speaker 3: jacket and she was wearing a tank top under my
- 11:20Speaker 3: jacket and I was so frustrated because her bio leaked
- 11:26Speaker 3: on my jacket and I didn't know how to wash
- 11:28Speaker 3: the jacket, and I was so mad at her. One
- 11:32Speaker 3: night I just used it against her, which was so
- 11:36Speaker 3: awful of me, which was me, what did you bring me?
- 11:39Speaker 3: I was like, you have bo and it's all over
- 11:42Speaker 3: my jacket and it's not me, it's you. It was
- 11:44Speaker 3: so mean, and I kind of like looked around and
- 11:50Speaker 3: I was like, right.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Guys, you did it in front of people.
- 11:54Speaker 3: My close friends. It was really mean. Obviously it still
- 11:58Speaker 3: haunts me. Yeah, the dry cleaners, hm, okay, I did,
- 12:05Speaker 3: but did she did fixed the.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Prior?
- 12:12Speaker 3: This was when I was like, also very drunk, but
- 12:15Speaker 3: I told her prior that you have to get deodorant
- 12:18Speaker 3: with That's not just deodorant, old spice deodorant. It has
- 12:21Speaker 3: to be old spice deodorant and any perspirant. That's what
- 12:25Speaker 3: fights the bacteria.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Think dead ass. If you don't have that, that's gross.
- 12:30Speaker 1: What do you mean to use salt and stone?
- 12:33Speaker 4: Did you do?
- 12:33Speaker 1: They have anti furse for ins.
- 12:35Speaker 2: And yes, it's good, but it's old spice. I don't
- 12:37Speaker 2: think old spice smells good on women. Well.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I mean also she's using old spice with old spice,
- 12:43Speaker 1: which is kind of technically like a man's deodorant, so
- 12:45Speaker 1: she was trying to get the strong stuff clear only
- 12:48Speaker 1: Clara clear. I hate that, like just shower. So last question,
- 12:58Speaker 1: do you guys, has anyone ever gotten kicked out of
- 13:02Speaker 1: your sorority? Not of mine, but if I've heard of
- 13:06Speaker 1: it before, I think somebody got kicked out of mine. Really,
- 13:09Speaker 1: I don't remember why. I think she was like scandalous.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Is that a girl lose a position?
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. Or maybe she just dropped and
- 13:19Speaker 1: didn't get kicked out. Yeah, I don't know. I feel
- 13:22Speaker 1: like you have to do something really crazy, like steal something, yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 1: or like vandalize something. Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I know of this poor girl in another sorority. She
- 13:34Speaker 3: was in our local bar and she was very wasted.
- 13:40Speaker 3: She peed on the ground. It was on video, then
- 13:44Speaker 3: it was shown to her standards, and then they kicked
- 13:46Speaker 3: her out, which was sad.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I didn't know her.
- 13:49Speaker 1: That's sad, though, that's not like her fault.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I mean it just like she didn't mean to embarrassing
- 13:54Speaker 3: and then felt all the consequences.
- 13:57Speaker 5: Yeah, so much, so much about decision I think coming
- 14:00Speaker 5: from a sorority is like the character like, is this
- 14:03Speaker 5: a defamation of the sorority's character and of their image?
- 14:07Speaker 1: And then unfortunately, I think girls also got kicked out
- 14:09Speaker 1: if they don't be their dues right, definitely, yeah, if
- 14:13Speaker 1: they literally just can't afford anything, which is sid but
- 14:16Speaker 1: it happens.
- 14:17Speaker 2: But on a happier note, sorty, life is fun. Yeah
- 14:22Speaker 2: that I went through it.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Miss it.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, love it talking about it's fun.
- 14:27Speaker 4: I know it is fun to dive back.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Well, thanks guys for being here and answering all of
- 14:33Speaker 1: the burning questions I had for you. And that is
- 14:36Speaker 1: it for this week's episode of Dirty Rush. Love you guys. Bye,
