- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome in to dag Exam. It's free agency week.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I'm kin Nannie Stevens, Brent Sexton, and John Oser are
- 0:22Speaker 2: with me today. We're seeing a ton of movement already,
- 0:24Speaker 2: maybe not the moves that we're used to seeing though
- 0:26Speaker 2: here in Jacksonville. So let's start out with our big
- 0:28Speaker 2: things today. Our first big thing is goodbye. So to
- 0:31Speaker 2: make way for some of these open roster positions, the
- 0:34Speaker 2: team released a lot of players last week.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Some of them big names.
- 0:37Speaker 2: We kind of maybe saw the writing on the wall
- 0:39Speaker 2: with Christian Kirk or Evan Ingram, Brian but these are
- 0:42Speaker 2: some names that we've known with this team, been very
- 0:44Speaker 2: synonymous with this team for the last couple of years.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And now the faces are gone.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Well, free agency brings and free agency takes away, and
- 0:50Speaker 3: they decided John that they could do more with the
- 0:53Speaker 3: cap room the Christian Kirk and Evan Ingram afforded them.
- 0:57Speaker 4: You know, you saw roughly twenty million dollars.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Between those two, both of whom finished last season on
- 1:02Speaker 3: need you reserve Kirk who's missed thirteen games in the
- 1:05Speaker 3: last two years, and Ingram didn't have a very good
- 1:07Speaker 3: season to boot.
- 1:09Speaker 4: So when you looked at it.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Coming in and sweeping things out anyway with the front
- 1:13Speaker 3: office gave them the ability to do the same thing
- 1:16Speaker 3: with some guys that we've come to know and appreciate.
- 1:19Speaker 5: You Look, it was a sad week last week because
- 1:22Speaker 5: I think everybody in here loves covering Christian Kirk and
- 1:25Speaker 5: Evan Ingram and bear themselves to fans. But I think
- 1:29Speaker 5: what Brian said in the middle there about the health
- 1:32Speaker 5: of both players. At some point, when you reach your
- 1:35Speaker 5: eighth or ninth year, percentages are you're not going to
- 1:38Speaker 5: get long term healthier. And I think Kristian Kirk, especially
- 1:42Speaker 5: not finishing the last two seasons and then with the
- 1:45Speaker 5: high cap number, there's no doubt the Jaguars have been
- 1:48Speaker 5: better and Trevor Uns has been better with him on
- 1:49Speaker 5: the field. But when you're not in the field and
- 1:54Speaker 5: new people are coming in, then business decisions have to
- 1:57Speaker 5: get made, and you know, nim is taken out of
- 2:01Speaker 5: it when the people coming in don't know you. So
- 2:03Speaker 5: I think a lot of that played into it. You know,
- 2:07Speaker 5: would I have made those two moves considering the age
- 2:10Speaker 5: of the player and the health as.
- 2:12Speaker 6: Much as I would have regretted it, I think you
- 2:14Speaker 6: would have had.
- 2:14Speaker 2: To tough one all around, for sure. Now we do
- 2:17Speaker 2: want to say hello to our nine reported free agents
- 2:20Speaker 2: that are gonna be coming.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Things will get.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Finalized later in the week, John, But a lot of
- 2:24Speaker 2: movement yesterday.
- 2:25Speaker 1: What was kind of a trend that you were seeing.
- 2:26Speaker 2: We're going to talk a little bit more about this later,
- 2:28Speaker 2: but what were they focusing on?
- 2:30Speaker 5: Yeah, when you've got nine guys, it's kind of hard
- 2:32Speaker 5: to pick one trend in the NFL in so many
- 2:34Speaker 5: different positions.
- 2:35Speaker 6: But I think Brian, it was a functional day.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Meaning when you're in baseball or football you I mean
- 2:44Speaker 5: or basketball, say you can change your.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Roster with one or two players.
- 2:49Speaker 5: In the NFL, you've got twenty two guys and you've
- 2:52Speaker 5: got fifty.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Three you need.
- 2:53Speaker 5: And when you're coming in and you're changing a regime,
- 2:56Speaker 5: you can't change it just changing.
- 2:58Speaker 6: Out one guy they brought in.
- 3:01Speaker 5: I think they felt like they had to get lined
- 3:03Speaker 5: up before the draft, meaning be able to have guys
- 3:06Speaker 5: in the starting lineup. I think they felt like they
- 3:09Speaker 5: needed guys who could start, who were functional. It wasn't
- 3:12Speaker 5: a splash day, which thank goodness, because I've seen too
- 3:15Speaker 5: many splash days around here where you look at the
- 3:17Speaker 5: pool and it's empty.
- 3:18Speaker 6: So I think it was a good day.
- 3:21Speaker 5: I think it was a solid day, even if it
- 3:22Speaker 5: wasn't a terribly exciting day.
- 3:24Speaker 3: When you work with words, what do you always say,
- 3:26Speaker 3: words are your work?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Something like something like that. Functional was the first word.
- 3:31Speaker 3: That popped into my mind yesterday as I looked at
- 3:34Speaker 3: that list. You're able now to line up and the
- 3:37Speaker 3: drivers clearly believe that they got better in the middle
- 3:40Speaker 3: of the offensive line, which quite frankly just hasn't been
- 3:43Speaker 3: very good. They haven't been able to convert on third
- 3:45Speaker 3: and short in the last two years. I think you
- 3:47Speaker 3: can look and say that they got better in the
- 3:49Speaker 3: secondary right, maybe a little older, but the corner from
- 3:53Speaker 3: Dallas and the safety from Houston are guys that you
- 3:56Speaker 3: can line up with and play in this scheme that
- 3:59Speaker 3: they all are bringing in here. They if they did
- 4:02Speaker 3: nothing else, they brought their guys in here. And I
- 4:05Speaker 3: thought that James Gladstone and Liam Cohen both talked about
- 4:08Speaker 3: the kind of player that would make them better just
- 4:11Speaker 3: walking through the door before they stepped on the field,
- 4:14Speaker 3: the attitude they would bring into the building, the way
- 4:17Speaker 3: they would go about their work, the way that they
- 4:19Speaker 3: would compete. They wanted to bring culture builders in here.
- 4:23Speaker 3: And you think of those guys as being the Christian
- 4:25Speaker 3: Kirks and the Evan Ingrams and the big playmakers, but
- 4:28Speaker 3: they're also the Hunter Longs, right, the reported tight end
- 4:31Speaker 3: from Los Angeles, a guy that has connections to Gladstone
- 4:35Speaker 3: or Hainsey, the Court or the center from Tampa, who
- 4:39Speaker 3: has connections to Liam Cohen. Guys, they know, guys they
- 4:42Speaker 3: can count on to help them with the scheme, to
- 4:45Speaker 3: help them with the culture. So from that perspective, I
- 4:48Speaker 3: would agree they got better yesterday.
- 4:50Speaker 4: How these guys pan out of her time, John, I
- 4:52Speaker 4: think that remains to be seen.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Well, they better not have much time. And meaning this,
- 4:58Speaker 5: you did sign older guys, I mean, or you acquired
- 5:02Speaker 5: older guys and that's signed. Yet there's some ninth year guys,
- 5:06Speaker 5: tenth thier guys in there, or maybe not tenth but
- 5:08Speaker 5: a ninth year. So you're not thinking that this is
- 5:12Speaker 5: a class that's going to be playing frontline football for
- 5:16Speaker 5: you in twenty twenty seven, I think what year it is?
- 5:18Speaker 2: Right?
- 5:18Speaker 6: But so these are If this isn't a.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Transition class to a draft and developed team, then it's
- 5:25Speaker 5: a bad class, but clearly that's what it is.
- 5:28Speaker 3: We have twenty draft picks kai over the next two years,
- 5:31Speaker 3: and with the trade of Christian Kirk, you have twenty
- 5:33Speaker 3: one in the next two years. So if these guys
- 5:35Speaker 3: are still core players, chances are you haven't drafted very
- 5:39Speaker 3: well in the next two years. It's just very clear
- 5:41Speaker 3: that what they wanted was to bring in guys to
- 5:43Speaker 3: help them build the foundation of what they want going forward,
- 5:46Speaker 3: and from that sense, it appears it was a really
- 5:48Speaker 3: productive day.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Absolutely that leads.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Us into our final big thing, which is Florida Ceiling.
- 5:53Speaker 2: We talk a lot about star players coming in raising
- 5:55Speaker 2: the ceiling. You know what their ceiling might be, but
- 5:57Speaker 2: now we're talking about raising the floor.
- 5:59Speaker 1: What's the minimum? What's expected out there? Brian?
- 6:01Speaker 2: When we talk about new regimes coming in and kind
- 6:04Speaker 2: of setting the standard, I feel like they're trying to
- 6:06Speaker 2: get their guys in here and get that groundwork lead
- 6:08Speaker 2: so everybody knows what to expect when they come in.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Well, for those of us who were here in the building,
- 6:12Speaker 3: it's hard not to get past the fact that there
- 6:14Speaker 3: simply wasn't a winning culture in this building. When you
- 6:18Speaker 3: walk through the locker room or out onto the practice field.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Not the guys last year or the last two years
- 6:23Speaker 3: weren't working hard, but you just didn't feel like there
- 6:26Speaker 3: was a strong standard of excellence. So I think that's
- 6:30Speaker 3: what they're really starting to build here is how they're
- 6:33Speaker 3: going to compete each day, how they're going to work
- 6:35Speaker 3: in the classrooms, how they're going to work on the
- 6:37Speaker 3: practice field, how they're going to conduct themselves in everything
- 6:40Speaker 3: from the meeting room to how they travel. That's what
- 6:44Speaker 3: they really look at as what the baseline is, Hey,
- 6:47Speaker 3: if you can't meet this standard, this is the way
- 6:49Speaker 3: that we do things in a Liam Cohen, Tony Basselli,
- 6:54Speaker 3: James Gladstone.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Administration, yea where sometimes words are your work.
- 7:02Speaker 5: I think the biggest thing, if you had to take
- 7:04Speaker 5: anything away, I think Florida ceiling. I think they got
- 7:10Speaker 5: more functional and capable in the secondary for a year
- 7:15Speaker 5: or two.
- 7:16Speaker 6: And I think they.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Feel like they got more physical up front on the
- 7:20Speaker 5: offensive line. If those two things are true, then I
- 7:23Speaker 5: think you raised that floor. Look, everything in this franchise
- 7:27Speaker 5: is about Trevor Lawrence. You got a fast receiver to
- 7:31Speaker 5: help Trevor Lawrence, and you got guys to keep Trevor
- 7:35Speaker 5: Lawrence from being pressured in the pocket, they hope and
- 7:38Speaker 5: have a better running game around him. If Trevor improves,
- 7:42Speaker 5: then this franchise is moving up. If he doesn't, then
- 7:45Speaker 5: it's what it has been.
- 7:47Speaker 3: You know, at one more point in Florida, ceiling is
- 7:49Speaker 3: now all of a sudden, you have filled enough gaps
- 7:51Speaker 3: with guys that you trust that you can go into
- 7:54Speaker 3: Draft day and you can take the player that's rated
- 7:56Speaker 3: highest on your board, whether that's an interior offensive lineman
- 8:00Speaker 3: which is not a sexy pick obviously at number five,
- 8:03Speaker 3: or whether you're looking for someone on the secondary. You
- 8:06Speaker 3: have the ability now to do what you want on
- 8:08Speaker 3: draft Day.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Absolutely setting ourselves up for April. Stay with us here.
- 8:12Speaker 2: We're going to talk a little bit about the holes
- 8:14Speaker 2: that Christian Kirk and Evan Ingram have left and who
- 8:16Speaker 2: we think might replace them. Who welcome you back into
- 8:31Speaker 2: jag zam an eventful week. Last week eventful as well
- 8:34Speaker 2: as we talked a little bit about some of the
- 8:36Speaker 2: outgoing names obviously synonymous with the team, Evan Ingram, Christian Kirk.
- 8:39Speaker 2: A lot of us here in the building very fond
- 8:41Speaker 2: of both of those guys. Also, Mitch Morse retiring from
- 8:44Speaker 2: the NFL. So those are a couple key positions I
- 8:47Speaker 2: was thinking about when it comes to mind, I understand
- 8:50Speaker 2: the salary reasons why two of them were lego, but
- 8:53Speaker 2: what kind of holes do they leave on this team?
- 8:55Speaker 6: Right?
- 8:55Speaker 2: So, when you look going forward, a lot of free
- 8:59Speaker 2: agency signings on the offensive line, But is Robert Hainsey
- 9:03Speaker 2: at center a replacement for long term John or is
- 9:06Speaker 2: this like as we've talked about, maybe drafting someone and
- 9:09Speaker 2: then kind.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Of where are you looking at this? I don't really know.
- 9:11Speaker 5: In the NFL these days, I don't know what long
- 9:13Speaker 5: term means. I'm not making fun of the question. It's
- 9:17Speaker 5: hard to say he's long term. But I do think
- 9:23Speaker 5: they feel like from a power blocking, from a run blocking,
- 9:27Speaker 5: from a physicality, tone setting point of view, A I
- 9:32Speaker 5: think they would have been fine with Morse coming back,
- 9:34Speaker 5: but I don't necessarily think that it was a soul
- 9:38Speaker 5: crushing event when he informed them that he wasn't not
- 9:42Speaker 5: anything a knock on him, but it enabled them to
- 9:45Speaker 5: change two spots rather than just one, and didn't it
- 9:47Speaker 5: feel like you needed some sort of tone change.
- 9:51Speaker 6: I don't necessarily know.
- 9:52Speaker 5: That Hainesy's that much better than Morse, but he's different
- 9:55Speaker 5: in the sense that he's a physical he's a brawling
- 9:57Speaker 5: kind of guy, and McCary is the same sort of way.
- 10:00Speaker 5: They feel like they're going to be better in the
- 10:02Speaker 5: run game short yardage, so I think that's probably the
- 10:05Speaker 5: biggest storyline in terms of switching. I think he switched
- 10:11Speaker 5: tone of the offensive line very much.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Ran Is it important that they brought in another experience center? Obviously,
- 10:17Speaker 2: Mitch Moore's brought a lot of respect understanding of football.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I think, especially for Trevor to have someone like that
- 10:22Speaker 2: at center, was that important?
- 10:23Speaker 4: Well, I think so.
- 10:23Speaker 3: But I think specifically Kai the fact that he's experienced
- 10:27Speaker 3: with Liam Cohen right, that he understands the scheme because
- 10:31Speaker 3: they're going to run some different things up front. And
- 10:33Speaker 3: Hainsey is a guy who can get the offensive line
- 10:35Speaker 3: and the quarterback on the same page, which is why
- 10:37Speaker 3: they wanted to bring Morse in last year, to make
- 10:39Speaker 3: sure that he would be able to bring a cohesion
- 10:42Speaker 3: that a young quarterback, still a young quarterback needs.
- 10:45Speaker 4: The Hainsey thing is interesting.
- 10:46Speaker 3: To me, and McCary in particular, those were the two
- 10:48Speaker 3: guys I was most excited about because as we talked
- 10:51Speaker 3: about John, this team could not convert third down and
- 10:54Speaker 3: short in twenty three or twenty four. And when you
- 10:57Speaker 3: think about what Liam Cohen did last year, the most
- 11:00Speaker 3: impressive thing that he did in Tampa was take a
- 11:02Speaker 3: running game that was near the bottom of the league
- 11:04Speaker 3: in twenty twenty three and move them into the top
- 11:06Speaker 3: five in twenty twenty four. Think about what that does
- 11:08Speaker 3: for Trevor Lawrence if he's got play action available to him.
- 11:12Speaker 3: So you go bring those two guys in and have
- 11:14Speaker 3: confidence in them, Maybe draft a guy even at five
- 11:17Speaker 3: that you believe can contribute on.
- 11:18Speaker 4: The offensive line.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Well, you've gotten a lot better in the running game,
- 11:22Speaker 3: which I think is pivotal.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Yeah, the major reason Hainesy was a target was what
- 11:28Speaker 5: Brian said, familiar with the offense and Cohen.
- 11:31Speaker 6: They know that he'll be.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Able to be a second set eyes in the field
- 11:36Speaker 5: for Trevor Lawrence. So that's mammoth and they think they're
- 11:39Speaker 5: a better run blocking team. As far as the wide
- 11:42Speaker 5: receiver Diami Brown, they feel like they now have two
- 11:47Speaker 5: guys who can take the top off a defense. And
- 11:51Speaker 5: they were worried going into this do we have enough
- 11:54Speaker 5: guys at receiver. They didn't, as Bryance earlier in the
- 11:57Speaker 5: show a big thing about yesterday. They wanted to get
- 12:00Speaker 5: out of a situation where they felt like they had
- 12:02Speaker 5: to go get player B or player A.
- 12:06Speaker 6: In the first round of the draft. They do won't
- 12:07Speaker 6: have to force their hand in the draft.
- 12:09Speaker 3: You look at it. I'm sorry, in the rub you
- 12:10Speaker 3: look at it. There's the big receiver from Arizona, and
- 12:13Speaker 3: I don't know where they've got him. I'm just throwing
- 12:14Speaker 3: it out there. If he's the highest rated guy on
- 12:16Speaker 3: the board, you know, you might say, well, we need
- 12:19Speaker 3: more help on the defensive line because you know that
- 12:22Speaker 3: guy at Michigan's really good. We need a cornerback, right,
- 12:25Speaker 3: But if he's the highest rated guy on.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Your board, go get him.
- 12:29Speaker 3: We always talk about best player available versus need man.
- 12:32Speaker 3: If you're in a position to take the best player
- 12:33Speaker 3: available at number five, you got a chance to really
- 12:36Speaker 3: upgrade your team.
- 12:37Speaker 2: We talk about the scene in terms of Trevor Lawrence
- 12:39Speaker 2: as he goes, this team will go when you're taking
- 12:41Speaker 2: away two of his you know, we've called them safety
- 12:43Speaker 2: blankets in Christian Kirk and Evan Ingram, I feel like
- 12:46Speaker 2: this might be a growth opportunity, right, because when you
- 12:48Speaker 2: have your guys that you trust and you know where
- 12:50Speaker 2: they're going to be, it's hard to get away from
- 12:52Speaker 2: that at times. But Brian, we know what Brian Thomas
- 12:55Speaker 2: Junior can do in a rookie year, what he's going
- 12:57Speaker 2: to be able to do going forward is going to
- 12:59Speaker 2: be even better. Will this give an opportunity for Trevor
- 13:02Speaker 2: to branch out a bit?
- 13:03Speaker 4: Well, Listen, he didn't. Trevor had had limited time with
- 13:07Speaker 4: Brian Thomas. You know, made a couple of big throws.
- 13:09Speaker 3: The one against the Colts the one in London against
- 13:11Speaker 3: the Patriots are two that stand out. He's going to
- 13:14Speaker 3: put himself in a position with Brian Thomas, he's going
- 13:16Speaker 3: to become his new security blanket, right. And then Brenton
- 13:19Speaker 3: Strange really came on again after Trevor was hurt last year.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I think the transition to those two guys will be
- 13:25Speaker 3: easier than some people might imagine because they're really talented
- 13:28Speaker 3: and we'll make the quarterbacks job a whole lot easier.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Look again on to press, but I loved what Ingram
- 13:36Speaker 5: and Kirk did for this franchise for three years. They
- 13:38Speaker 5: were four and thirteen offense last year. Evan Ingram's yards
- 13:43Speaker 5: per reception were way down last year. He's caught a
- 13:46Speaker 5: lot of passes in the last couple of years, but
- 13:48Speaker 5: they have not been downfield passes. They've then passes that
- 13:51Speaker 5: sort of I don't say anybody could have done it,
- 13:54Speaker 5: but it was not special plays.
- 13:56Speaker 6: He had one touchdown last year.
- 13:59Speaker 5: Brian Thomas Junior in twenty twenty five, if he plays
- 14:03Speaker 5: LEVETD in twenty twenty four, is worth the combination of
- 14:08Speaker 5: Kirk and Ingram in their prime, meaning he's that good, right,
- 14:12Speaker 5: So I think some of it is there's a familiarity
- 14:14Speaker 5: with Kirk and Ingram. Fans loved them and got used
- 14:17Speaker 5: to them.
- 14:18Speaker 6: I think when you look at.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Where they've been, if both these players were at the
- 14:23Speaker 5: peak of their career, peak production for the Jaguars, then
- 14:25Speaker 5: I think this would be a bad move. But they've
- 14:28Speaker 5: been hurt the last couple of years. They're now going
- 14:30Speaker 5: into year ten and year nine and you're moving into
- 14:32Speaker 5: a new regime. Let's not paint this as they're losing
- 14:39Speaker 5: two All Pro players. I love these guys, but that's
- 14:43Speaker 5: not what they were the last year or so.
- 14:45Speaker 2: We got nine new faces headed's Jacksonville this week, So
- 14:47Speaker 2: we're going to talk a little bit more in depth
- 14:49Speaker 2: about that after the break about some of the new
- 14:51Speaker 2: players come in to town. Move the freight, Move the freight,
- 15:06Speaker 2: Magellan Transport, What is the coolest office base in Jacksonville.
- 15:08Speaker 2: You can apply online at Magellanlogistics dot com.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Welcome back in.
- 15:13Speaker 2: It's gonna be a busy week. We're gonna get to
- 15:15Speaker 2: meet some of these new faces. But nine reported signings.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Of course, things become official later in the week, but
- 15:21Speaker 2: it's a lot of names. Now, we've been busy. This
- 15:23Speaker 2: scene has been busy in free agency before, but maybe
- 15:25Speaker 2: a little more money spent, a little more flash there.
- 15:28Speaker 2: This looks like a lot of setting the standard. And John,
- 15:30Speaker 2: I'm seeing a lot of you know, Vikings, like people
- 15:33Speaker 2: that they're familiar with, the Bucks, the you know, the
- 15:36Speaker 2: rams like these are teams that and players that the
- 15:39Speaker 2: coaches are familiar with.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Well, Nick Mullens is obviously he's he's been with Yudinsky,
- 15:44Speaker 5: so he knows how this offense works. You want that
- 15:48Speaker 5: guy in the room with Trevor because when they're looking
- 15:50Speaker 5: at film, Mullins can presumably just say, hey, well that's
- 15:53Speaker 5: what you do on this play and you know, let's
- 15:56Speaker 5: move on. You're not having to google it, right, So,
- 15:59Speaker 5: and overall.
- 16:01Speaker 6: That was a huge theme for some of them.
- 16:03Speaker 5: I think it's important to note that Hainesy with the
- 16:06Speaker 5: Bucks started its center in twenty two and twenty three
- 16:09Speaker 5: for them did not start this past year because they
- 16:11Speaker 5: drafted a guy number twenty six overall, but he has
- 16:14Speaker 5: versatility as well as the ability to start at center.
- 16:18Speaker 5: I think overall, Brian that familiarity, bringing in guys who
- 16:23Speaker 5: understand what's being done.
- 16:26Speaker 6: You know, it's the theme of the day. I don't
- 16:28Speaker 6: know how you get around it.
- 16:29Speaker 3: No, And you look at the tight ends, right, I
- 16:31Speaker 3: think that's indicative of where their focus was, the offensive
- 16:34Speaker 3: line and the tight ends, because both the tight end
- 16:36Speaker 3: from the Rams and the tight end from the Vikings
- 16:38Speaker 3: are familiar faces and they're blocking tight ends. These are
- 16:41Speaker 3: not guys who are going to catch a hundred passes
- 16:44Speaker 3: or even fifty, but they understand the scheme and the
- 16:48Speaker 3: way that the Jaguars are going to have to get
- 16:51Speaker 3: this running game moving. And so they went and found
- 16:54Speaker 3: two guys. They fit from a cost perspective, they fit
- 16:57Speaker 3: from a scheme perspective, and their transitions to twenty twenty
- 17:01Speaker 3: seven twenty twenty eight. They'll help this team get where
- 17:03Speaker 3: it wants to go.
- 17:04Speaker 5: And I think which shouldn't be lost the nickelback Lewis
- 17:08Speaker 5: from the Cowboys. If there was a splash signing, he
- 17:13Speaker 5: was probably at this. If you looked at this secondary
- 17:16Speaker 5: going into yesterday, Tyson Campbell's a starter.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, there's really nowhere else to go with it.
- 17:26Speaker 5: So Jarion Jones, I think we'll have a chance in
- 17:30Speaker 5: this to fit in. I think Dewey Wingard will have
- 17:33Speaker 5: a role depending on the draft, but Murray from the Texans,
- 17:38Speaker 5: Lewis from the Cowboys. This was about being able to
- 17:43Speaker 5: see what your secondary was because before yesterday there were gaps.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Well, it's a great point.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Antonio Johnson's a guy that was drafted by the previous
- 17:50Speaker 3: regime and he has clearly a physical skill set. But
- 17:55Speaker 3: how does he fit in this news scheme and what
- 17:57Speaker 3: do they.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Think of him?
- 17:58Speaker 6: TBD?
- 17:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that Monterrek Brown is the guy who's been around here,
- 18:01Speaker 3: made some big plays like the one in New Orleans
- 18:03Speaker 3: not long ago, and yet you don't know what they
- 18:07Speaker 3: think of him or whether he can play the way that.
- 18:08Speaker 6: They want to.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Yeah, the guys beyond Tyson who were here, I'm not
- 18:12Speaker 5: throwing them out, Yeah, but they are.
- 18:15Speaker 6: Going to have to prove where they fit.
- 18:18Speaker 5: You know, there's no pencil in yet on any of
- 18:20Speaker 5: those guys.
- 18:23Speaker 2: For me, one of the names I was excited to
- 18:25Speaker 2: see was Diomie Brown. We watched the Commander's playoff game
- 18:28Speaker 2: together John against the Lions, and he had a great
- 18:31Speaker 2: playoff run for them, And just to have that speed
- 18:33Speaker 2: when we talk about Brian Thomas, clearly that's what they're
- 18:36Speaker 2: going with right now. I'm sure they'll fill in the
- 18:37Speaker 2: gaps elsewhere in the wide receiver group, but to have
- 18:39Speaker 2: those targets for Trevor exciting to see how they build
- 18:42Speaker 2: around it.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Well, you know, if you just took his overall body
- 18:47Speaker 5: at work for four years, you wouldn't be that excited
- 18:49Speaker 5: if you took the last half of this last year.
- 18:53Speaker 5: I'm it's sacrileged to say this. I'm not gonna say it,
- 18:57Speaker 5: but I gotta say it because we're on the air.
- 18:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Keenan McCardell, remember was peaking with the Browns and then
- 19:04Speaker 5: they went and got him. Nobody really knew that much
- 19:06Speaker 5: about him and then all of a sudden he was ready.
- 19:07Speaker 6: Boy.
- 19:08Speaker 5: So there's that element of you, you like having this
- 19:12Speaker 5: sort of potential of this sort of speed.
- 19:15Speaker 6: I think Keenan should be on the wall. So I'm
- 19:16Speaker 6: not gonna compare him to that you will be someday.
- 19:18Speaker 5: But you know what I'm getting at right the ascending player,
- 19:22Speaker 5: this could be one of those diamonds. And they're rough,
- 19:24Speaker 5: and again they really feel like they now have two
- 19:28Speaker 5: players he can get deep.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Keena was a twelfth round draft picker Washington who you know,
- 19:32Speaker 3: worked his way through the NFL, through the Bears and
- 19:34Speaker 3: the Browns and the Ravens and finally, you know, put
- 19:37Speaker 3: his feet on the ground here and became a player.
- 19:38Speaker 3: That's the same thing. Look, there's receivers everywhere because this
- 19:41Speaker 3: is a passing league. College football has become a passing league,
- 19:44Speaker 3: and not everybody's ready to step on the field, like
- 19:46Speaker 3: Brian Thomas Junior to be a star right of the gate.
- 19:49Speaker 3: And this guy, well, over a couple of years, it
- 19:51Speaker 3: appears he's really polished his skills and he's got something
- 19:54Speaker 3: that Keenan didn't have, which is that explosive speed.
- 19:58Speaker 6: And Keenan also started his career with Washington.
- 20:02Speaker 4: So here we go.
- 20:04Speaker 3: But to Keenan's defense, Keenan was the toughest sun and
- 20:08Speaker 3: you ever met. I watched Eric Turner cut him in
- 20:11Speaker 3: half twice on back to back plays and him get
- 20:14Speaker 3: up and keep moving.
- 20:15Speaker 5: So I mean Keenan, I mean, if I had to
- 20:18Speaker 5: put some man on the wall right now, he's not there.
- 20:20Speaker 4: He belongs.
- 20:21Speaker 6: He's that guy.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Absolutely, stay with us. We'll tell you what's coming up
- 20:23Speaker 2: the rest of the week and what we've got cooking
- 20:25Speaker 2: behind the scenes as well. The exam brought to you
- 20:39Speaker 2: by Fresh from Florida.
- 20:40Speaker 1: It's always in season.
- 20:49Speaker 7: Everything you can read some of the stuff actual day shot,
- 20:56Speaker 7: taking a chance, looking forward to be see.
- 21:03Speaker 6: You know, big upside like now parac Base.
- 21:06Speaker 1: We want they're going to be here.
- 21:09Speaker 7: Right hey.
- 21:10Speaker 6: One of the trademarks of our leadership group is that
- 21:13Speaker 6: when there's an opportunity to be bold, we won't play.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Certainly, we're bold with some of their decisions right out
- 21:27Speaker 2: of the gate, and we're going to see a lot
- 21:28Speaker 2: more changes coming up this week with free agency and
- 21:30Speaker 2: then going into the draft, and the hunt is going
- 21:32Speaker 2: to be there for all of it. We're really excited
- 21:34Speaker 2: with this new regime, unprecedented access, a lot of great
- 21:37Speaker 2: stuff coming together, and the hunt will be back with you.
- 21:40Speaker 3: So that's what you get when you go as young
- 21:42Speaker 3: as they did. They understand the dynamic of I mean
- 21:45Speaker 3: they've they've lived, they've grown up with NFL films, and
- 21:48Speaker 3: I mean it wasn't that the access wasn't there in
- 21:51Speaker 3: the early years because those coaches were so secret. Of
- 21:53Speaker 3: these guys, they're grown up with cameras everywhere, and so
- 21:55Speaker 3: it's they're used to it.
- 21:56Speaker 4: It's good for the fans.
- 21:57Speaker 5: Credits all three of them, Tiny Beseillar for understanding the
- 21:59Speaker 5: import to that. But to me, credit to Gladstone and
- 22:03Speaker 5: Cohen for this. When you're coming into a regime, it's
- 22:07Speaker 5: easy to say you want to be transparent. There's some
- 22:11Speaker 5: pressure on you and you're coming into the new world
- 22:14Speaker 5: to still say, okay, you know what you can see
- 22:16Speaker 5: as we go in this Not every executive and coach
- 22:20Speaker 5: would do that. So I guess thanks to them for
- 22:23Speaker 5: the fans for that.
- 22:24Speaker 2: A lot of good stuff to come. We're gonna hear
- 22:25Speaker 2: from some of these free agents later in the week.
- 22:27Speaker 2: So we're back with you on jag Zam next week.
- 22:29Speaker 2: We'll be able to weigh in on that have a
- 22:31Speaker 2: good week.
