- 0:06Hello and welcome to another episode of what do you call it
- 0:09podcast. I'm your host GB definitely not
- 0:13re recording his intro. Today's guests are an acoustic
- 0:17rock GRO from Southend on sea. Whoop whoop.
- 0:21Not many people do that. We're all from the same area.
- 0:24Please welcome. Remember Serenity Den and Wayne
- 0:28how you both doing? Thank you for coming on.
- 0:32So you're welcome. Thank you.
- 0:33Fabulous. We're going to rewind the clocks
- 0:35a little bit. What I want to discover from the
- 0:38both of you is what first got you into music.
- 0:42Oh, that's a classic question. Sex, drugs and rock.
- 0:47And. Roll.
- 0:48No, I've been doing bands now for 35 years.
- 0:53Probably. It was when I heard Metallica's
- 0:58Justice For All album. The drumming on it was like, I
- 1:00want to be a drummer. So I was, I became a drummer.
- 1:04I was doing drumming up till last year when I finally quit,
- 1:09full stop quit. So yeah, totally drumming.
- 1:12And now just basically just concentrating on playing the
- 1:14guitar. I'm doing Remember Serenity now
- 1:16so. I was luckily brought up with
- 1:21parents with really good taste in music.
- 1:25My first gig that I went to when I was 12/13 was Black Sabbath.
- 1:30I went to with my parents. So yeah, no, it wasn't Ozzy, it
- 1:36was Dio. Actually.
- 1:36The better singer. Don't care, they're
- 1:39controversial, but I'm a Dio fan over Ozzy.
- 1:41Absolutely. I I actually started singing
- 1:47with my mum and my sister when I was about four or five.
- 1:52We used to do some little gigs and stuff and then I actually
- 1:57joined the church choir. They threw her out.
- 2:03I was. I used.
- 2:03To be again sex, drugs and rock'n'roll so.
- 2:05I was head choir girl. There weren't any others.
- 2:09I mean there. Was no, no composition.
- 2:14But no, music has always been a huge part of my, my whole
- 2:17family's lives and and everything.
- 2:20But yeah, I've been singing since, since I was about four, I
- 2:24think, quit singing for quite some time because of having
- 2:28kids. And then, yeah, sort of
- 2:32jokingly, I said to Wayne, you know, because he was looking for
- 2:34a singer. I sort of, I said about me
- 2:36joining and it was meant to be a joke at 1st and then it actually
- 2:39happened. So yeah.
- 2:41I'm glad you ended on that and that's a great introduction to
- 2:44your musical backgrounds. I want to know about Remember
- 2:47Serenity. We see the logo in the
- 2:49background. I've seen you guys live.
- 2:50I've listened to you on Spotify to your E PS nail PS And I want
- 2:55to know how did you both form? So I know you touched that
- 2:58briefly, but tell me about the name and just who is.
- 3:03Remember Serenity? Remember, we are remembering the
- 3:08original. Basically I started the project
- 3:10here in 2019. Basically I, I, I wanted to do
- 3:15something different, so a bit more chilled out.
- 3:18Inspired by a bank called the Civil Wars and basically
- 3:21acoustic duo, 2 vocals, 1 guitar, simple.
- 3:24They really inspired me to do a do a project like that.
- 3:28And so basically I spoke to an old the original singer asked
- 3:33her if she wanted to do it. She did.
- 3:35We did it for a bit then COVID happened and the ball would
- 3:39become a bit strange. And so obviously that that all
- 3:43just fizzed out. And then so I was thought I
- 3:47wanted to carry on doing it. So I hadn't heard from the old
- 3:50singer, wanted to find a new singer.
- 3:53And so me and Dan, we've been best friends for 30 plus years
- 3:56or 30 years, 30 years now actually, we.
- 3:58Think. It's a small happy.
- 4:00Anniversary. Jen so that Den sort of yeah
- 4:04said that yeah, she's interested.
- 4:08My girlfriend at the time said yeah, why don't you do it?
- 4:10Why don't you try Den? And I sort of, I was like a bit
- 4:12Jew because obviously we've been friends so long.
- 4:14When you're in a band, there's always band politics.
- 4:16You always have a row about this, about that.
- 4:19And we thought, do you know what sort of, let's just, let's give
- 4:22it a go. And we had this agreement,
- 4:23didn't we at first? Yeah, if the band.
- 4:24Comes yeah, if we started like arguing over things in the band,
- 4:27then then yeah, we'll just we'll yeah, we'll.
- 4:30We'll, the friendship's more important.
- 4:32But yeah, here we are, what, three years later or whatever
- 4:34And three or four years later, however long, it's don't even
- 4:36know how long it's been, but but here we are, we're say coming to
- 4:41the end of like a nine, 910 month period where we've
- 4:44released, where we're going to have released 4 APS, one every
- 4:47three months, because I'm keep saying this year it's certainly
- 4:51nine months because we released the first one and then three
- 4:53months starts, it's actually nine months.
- 4:56But yeah, like say when the new one comes out in a couple of
- 4:58weeks, there'll be like the four APS in, in the year.
- 5:01So we set ourselves this ridiculous target that we've,
- 5:05yeah, it was a bit bit ambitious, in all fairness.
- 5:08We didn't have enough songs. Yeah.
- 5:10When we start, when we started recording the APS thing, we had
- 5:12like 8 songs possible 7/7 or 8 songs ready to go.
- 5:16So we've had to write like 50% of the songs for these APS
- 5:20during that nine months, which when you think you've got ages,
- 5:22you've got three months to three months to write a song.
- 5:24Like write sort of a few songs, it's going to be easy.
- 5:28It's not because you've got a week like sort of, yeah, like a
- 5:31week and 1/2 or whatever it is like of recording and then a
- 5:35week and a half later you're doing that.
- 5:36So that's like a whole month gone before and then you're just
- 5:39doing the first CP and then you then kind of think like, oh, now
- 5:43we need to rehearse again, remember how our songs go.
- 5:46So then you're all a month and 1/2 into the cycle of the EP
- 5:49before you. Then you have a month and a half
- 5:51to write the next to get the next one down.
- 5:53So. We're not doing it again.
- 5:55Yeah, we're absolutely not releasing.
- 5:57Fortunately there's only Four Seasons, so we don't have do
- 5:59that again so. Upcoming EP.
- 6:06But what I do want to discuss is your creative process that goes
- 6:10into the EBS. So how do you 2 bounce off each
- 6:12other? Sort of what inspires you to
- 6:15write these songs, to sing these songs and the EPS, the previous
- 6:19ones? There hasn't really been a theme
- 6:22for each EP, but the the process, I mean, Wayne does, but
- 6:2890% of all of it, lyrics and and guitar kind of thing.
- 6:33I've, I've, I've written a couple of songs lyrically and
- 6:38and another half, yeah. We, we, we, we, we kind of like,
- 6:42yeah, we'd write them together though.
- 6:43So like I don't sort of come along and say then like, well,
- 6:46apart from the pieces and Bridges, which were two songs
- 6:50that existed before then joined, apart from those two songs, all
- 6:55of the songs have kind of we've we've kind of worked together
- 6:59to, to, yeah, to the vocal melodies, how, how the lyrics
- 7:02work. So even if I write the lyrics,
- 7:03it's not a case of by Dan, here's here's how the lyrics go.
- 7:06This is how we sing it. It's a case of we sit down
- 7:08together and work out and work together to, to, to write as a
- 7:12song. Yeah.
- 7:12I think I've probably changed some lyrics.
- 7:14Pretty much every song have an eyebrow for this.
- 7:17Yeah, awesome. Hello there.
- 7:19I've got a very special announcement for my next guest.
- 7:23Yo, what's going on, guys? It's the youngest in charge, the
- 7:26youngest X Division champion of all time now boy Leon Slater,
- 7:30and I'm going to be on the What do You Call It podcast, You get
- 7:33me? Your head.
- 7:41Really been a theme. Apart from the theme of the four
- 7:43APS being the seasons, there has been a theme for each of the
- 7:46APS. Not the first.
- 7:47The first AP winter. There's a song about my late dog
- 7:51and there's a song about a narcissistic woman.
- 7:55My one of my exes, my name's mentioned.
- 8:01Well, this is on there. It's a it's a happiest, happiest
- 8:03song. And that was a.
- 8:05Song. Yeah.
- 8:06There was a song. Oh, wait for you is on there
- 8:07isn't. It no, no, no, which was no,
- 8:11which is a song about thank thank you song to the woman who
- 8:14got me over the despicable wife and then there's misery loads
- 8:19company that's. Yes, Misery Life's Company is
- 8:26probably one of my favourites actually.
- 8:29And although Wayne wrote it, he wrote it kind of sort of
- 8:34channelling me, I, I suffer quite severely with depression
- 8:39and some other mental health issues.
- 8:42And obviously being best friends, Wayne's very aware of
- 8:45that. And he, he wrote this song
- 8:46Misery Life's Company kind of through my eyes kind of thing.
- 8:50So it's a song very much about sort of depression and about
- 8:55like the mask we all wear to sort of pretend that, yeah,
- 8:58we're all fine sort of type thing, you know, when beneath
- 9:01there's, there's stuff going on. Yeah, it's a really deep song.
- 9:05Really, really deep song. And, and one of my favorite, one
- 9:08of my favourites lyrically and musically.
- 9:09And you know, the the, the subject matter, the.
- 9:12Video for that is almost done as well because another plan is we
- 9:15there's going to be a video for every song on every song we ever
- 9:18record. We'll have some sort of
- 9:20accompanying a video, whether it's like a an actual lyric
- 9:23video or a proper video. You know, like so the video
- 9:27released today for as yet untitled off a new AP that's
- 9:29actually got us in it. And yeah, acting, acting, acting
- 9:33in graveyards and things. It's Sprint.
- 9:35You got to watch it. It's terrible.
- 9:36It's yeah, it's real tacky, but some, some best.
- 9:39It's it's a great tacky idea that my fiance Laurie had.
- 9:43Right. Again.
- 9:44You need to be sitting at the train station sending Wayne the
- 9:47text and he's at the pub. And like, soon, as soon as the
- 9:49pub was mentioned, I'm up for that store.
- 9:51Do I actually get to drink a beer?
- 9:52And that was yes. So what?
- 9:54Was it at the reveal? Will I be?
- 9:56Part time. It's obviously the part time.
- 9:59That actually parts happened. We gotta use parts happens like,
- 10:02yeah, one, we play there regularly.
- 10:04Like we play there every Monday on the showcase open mic.
- 10:07And Nicki also lets us do the Sunday Sunday and matinees.
- 10:12So we we get to play there a lot, obviously.
- 10:14Yeah, Nicki looks after us, we look after her.
- 10:15So it's Nicki's, right. So yeah.
- 10:18She is. She's amazing, yeah.
- 10:20You're saying about your favorite songs and yeah, tell me
- 10:22about the creative process. What have been some of your
- 10:25favorite songs to perform live? That's a good question.
- 10:31Rapture's always. Rapture always goes down Well,
- 10:34yeah. You like Rapture, don't you?
- 10:36I do. That's that's what you.
- 10:37Like literally commentary the other week and I came on and you
- 10:41knew exactly when it came. Like you paid it.
- 10:42Yeah. And I'm so happy.
- 10:45So, so raptures. Raptures seems to be quite a
- 10:48crowd pleaser. I think it's a bit more rocky
- 10:51because some of our songs are quite slow, miserable, dreary,
- 10:55whereas Raptures are a little bit more upbeat and it's it's
- 10:58got a bit more gap and go. And and it's it's happier.
- 11:01We've got some, we've got some like misery loads Company
- 11:03obviously is quite a depressing song, whereas Rapture is
- 11:06literally a song about going on holiday and falling in love with
- 11:10the, the beautiful scenery, which is an actual, based on an
- 11:13actual place that Wayne went in Croatia, you know.
- 11:17So it's, it's a happier feeling song as well as a happier
- 11:20subject and, and that kind of thing.
- 11:21And it's, it's one of the more difficult ones to sing as well,
- 11:27you know, sort of like both vocally, like the range in it
- 11:29and, and the intensity itself. And I prefer that.
- 11:32I I enjoy the challenge of the, the sort of the, the more
- 11:35intense songs kind of thing. I think that's how I define the
- 11:39ones that I prefer singing or not.
- 11:41Yeah, yeah. This one gets the origins of
- 11:44Remember Sweeney the name. I, I can't remember, I I wish
- 11:52there was some beautiful story, but I'm.
- 11:54Saying that, you've told me all these heartfelt stories about
- 11:56these songs and how you like you 2 being famous.
- 11:59I mean, it was, it was basically clearly I I thought of a couple
- 12:05of words that went well together.
- 12:07Originally when I first started, it was called my working title
- 12:10Civil Coil, which is basically a half of Civil Wars, half Lacuna
- 12:14Coil, which were kind of the two main influences with the music I
- 12:17wanted to do. Yeah.
- 12:19So it was called Sybil Coil. I don't remember when the name
- 12:26come about, how the name come about?
- 12:28I mean, I like the honest but. Maybe it's from your fabric?
- 12:32Software maybe, yeah. It's got fabric software that's
- 12:35that's called Serenity and it's pretty much in this font as
- 12:38well, so. Yeah, so, so sorry, comfort.
- 12:43I've got a fun question to ask you, and I think you're both
- 12:46going to give different answers. OK, you could open a show for
- 12:50any artist. Who would it be?
- 12:55I would say the Civil wars, but they're definitely split up
- 12:57forever personally but. For for what we do, Civil Wars
- 13:03would probably be actually be my choice as well for for this kind
- 13:06of thing, but for who I love. So probably John Paul.
- 13:11John Paul White, who's the guitarist from Civil Wars.
- 13:15Just simply because, yeah, I mean, we, we went to see him.
- 13:19We met him and he was really. Lovely, lovely guy.
- 13:21I mean he's, I've seen last, I've seen the Civil Wars a
- 13:24couple of times. I've seen John Paul Elliot, John
- 13:27Paula, he's, we've seen John Paul Elliot.
- 13:30He's a different guy. He's a local.
- 13:31Guy he's, yeah, he's a local guy from North John, John, John Paul
- 13:36White. I've seen him a couple of a few
- 13:38good few times and yeah, like so his, his music, it's just, it's,
- 13:42it's the basic, his music inspired me to do this project.
- 13:45So that's the reason there. And, and it's probably, I mean,
- 13:49realistically you could say I'd want to support Parkway Drive,
- 13:52but don't think we'd go down very well with Parkway Drive,
- 13:55though the pyro would be amazing.
- 13:57Different audience, but I see that's.
- 13:59So good. I mean, if I'm going just you
- 14:02know who I love, then I would. I mean, there's there's a few
- 14:06bands, but Queen Drake, although now just Jeff Tate because I I
- 14:11like the singer, would be up there and Blue October.
- 14:15Yeah, that's that's for that part of you, Corey Taylor, if he
- 14:18did an acoustic tour again, someone like that because I mean
- 14:21with although, yeah, we're kind of acoustic rock folk, we've
- 14:26both got clearly a rock, rock and metal kind of.
- 14:30Sort of gang tasting music. Tasting music.
- 14:32So it's probably more that that that we want to be associated
- 14:37with. I think.
- 14:37Like we wouldn't, yeah, if we went on tour with some sort of
- 14:40random folk band, I don't think we'd my language for a start.
- 14:45Our gigs probably wouldn't really go down too well with
- 14:46them. Fair play, you know, just a few
- 14:51more questions. So I want to know with Essex,
- 14:55there are hundreds and hundreds of musical acts.
- 14:58What would you say makes you different from the other musical
- 15:03acts in Essex? How?
- 15:04Miserable we are. To be honest, there's not that
- 15:09many sort of similar to us. I mean, there's a couple of
- 15:14other duos that are around. Yeah, new like new again, new
- 15:19again. There's there's another duo
- 15:21called New Again. Very good.
- 15:24Kind of. Probably quite similar to.
- 15:26Plus we don't do gigs with them. Really.
- 15:27We should probably do more gigs. New again.
- 15:29Why aren't we doing gigs with you?
- 15:30Why? Why?
- 15:32Right. But yeah, I mean like Fox Cub
- 15:34and the Big Red. Fox cub, Yeah.
- 15:36Are much rockier than us they're they're.
- 15:38Kind of rockier, rockier chassis and bluesier than us there.
- 15:40We're we're, although we're quite similar in the way we're
- 15:44set out. They're very different
- 15:46musically. Yeah, and Acacia Crows are much
- 15:48rockier than the other local duo, so.
- 15:51So, yeah, I mean, I've been out how I I I feel that that our
- 15:56strongest element is our lyrics. Yeah, absolutely.
- 15:58Because basically I I I used to think that, you know, like when
- 16:01bang people say, Oh yeah, your lyrics saved my life.
- 16:04And I used to think, shut up. They just words.
- 16:06Yeah, get over it. Yeah, they're extended the same
- 16:08life. And then there's a bank called
- 16:10Bad Flower. That's who I want to sport.
- 16:12I was going to say. Bad there's a Bank of bad
- 16:16flower. And then when I was going
- 16:17through the the horrible breakup, the bad flowers first
- 16:21album, just every song resonated with me.
- 16:25It hit me like so yeah, really, it kind of got me through that
- 16:29that that period. And then it was literally a case
- 16:32of because of the words were so powerful.
- 16:34And then all of a sudden, I realized that you know what
- 16:36lyrics are more important than I thought, you know, if you know
- 16:39what I mean? So it's just like, do you know
- 16:41what? You genuinely have only just
- 16:43sort of realized that, haven't you?
- 16:45Yeah. I mean, I've always loved
- 16:47lyrics. I.
- 16:48Mean Now and again there were songs that are like Hurt by 9 H
- 16:50Nails that you do a crack in there.
- 16:52Yeah, yeah basically that there's there were songs like
- 16:58that that always had big lyrics but there wasn't many songs that
- 17:01that, you know, hit me and our lyrics, you know until this
- 17:04album by Badflower. Check it out.
- 17:05It's really their first album was brilliant and let's say
- 17:09lyrically it moved me. And then as a result of that I
- 17:12just started writing better lyrics.
- 17:13It's like I used to when I used to write lyrics.
- 17:16It's very much a case of things that did just write words that
- 17:20just yeah, I was more I was more concerned about the guitar riffs
- 17:24or the drum part. Whereas now it's very much case
- 17:27of the lyrics are very strong. So all of our songs, there's not
- 17:30a sing out of the four APA 16 songs, there's not a single song
- 17:34on any of them that isn't an important sort of lyric
- 17:38important lyrically to us. Yeah, there were, Yeah, there's,
- 17:42there's nothing that's just, we went down the pub and had a
- 17:45drink kind of songs, you know, there's, they're all, they're
- 17:48all, they've all got a story to tell you now, so.
- 17:50And they're really sort of diverse subjects as well.
- 17:53I mean, I said about the Misery Life Company.
- 17:56It's obviously about depression. Rapture is about travel.
- 17:59So they're not all just sort of like typical love songs.
- 18:03Wayne's fiance lives in America. So we've got a couple of songs
- 18:06about, you know, sort of the fact that he's missing her
- 18:08terribly and can't wait for her to move over.
- 18:11Move over Laurie to here. I mean, not the sofa.
- 18:18And I mean the we wrote a song together that was for a local
- 18:23little competition about the fact that we've been friends for
- 18:2630 years. So we've got a song that's
- 18:28really personal to us about how long we've been friends for.
- 18:32That was a good song as well, because I I was on the way to
- 18:35America. Actually, I think that's the
- 18:36trip of where I met Laurie, actually, wasn't it?
- 18:39Possibly. Maybe.
- 18:40Well, yeah, so I was on the way to America and I was just
- 18:43sitting at the airport lounge and like we, we were running
- 18:46this competition. So when I got when I got back,
- 18:47we had that a week, didn't we? Yeah.
- 18:49Something, something to to have this on a week and 1/2 or
- 18:51something to have this song down.
- 18:52So I thought, better start writing some words, I guess.
- 18:55And so I, I just wrote like wrote a verse and half a chorus
- 19:00and I saw a message to them before I got on the plane.
- 19:02And then when I got off the plane, then messaged back, I've
- 19:05done the second verse and the other half of the chorus.
- 19:07So, so we had this song. So like the first verse I sing
- 19:10and it's about obviously being friends with them for 30 years.
- 19:14And then like the chorus we both sing and then the second verse
- 19:17dancing about 9-8 for 30 years. So it was a so So again, what
- 19:21you said about have you had we write the lyrics?
- 19:23That's how we wrote that one. Yeah, well, well, literally in
- 19:27different countries, so. It was a proper proper travel
- 19:30zone. Just a few more questions
- 19:32because I know you've got a big recording at 9:00 live, isn't
- 19:35it? You're streaming.
- 19:36Hey, we're gonna go. Yeah, live at 10.
- 19:38Yeah. You're gonna go at 10, Gonna
- 19:39watch us. I will, I will if I don't lose
- 19:41my voice. I was a bit crooked at the
- 19:44moment. I'm getting chased up in the
- 19:45moment, the stories you're telling me.
- 19:47Just a few more questions once you touch on the karaoke, not
- 19:50going to put myself over, but it's actually how I know you
- 19:52both Part 7 last year or so. I've got confidence of doing
- 19:57like some karaoke's and journey. There's a believe in.
- 20:00I mean, it's not fantastic, but I get to keep up the crowd and
- 20:03gaze, you know, I just switch off.
- 20:04I'm on another fucking planet trying to catch her.
- 20:07I get really into that. It's one of the songs I know.
- 20:09Sometimes it's a Friday night. You know you want to party, but.
- 20:12You know, some people like, oh, that's really good, and I love
- 20:14it and it's a really good song that means a lot to me.
- 20:16And Wayne's encouraged me to start singing Frank Sinatra my
- 20:20way. But what I want?
- 20:22To. I've not heard that yet.
- 20:22Yeah, you've not heard it. You will hear it soon.
- 20:24I've not heard that. Yet it really seems his voice so
- 20:27because you've got quite like I was saying, he's got quite that
- 20:29sort of deep booming voice which is perfect for that that.
- 20:32Time Barry White. You get you get to sing that
- 20:34with your talking voice rather than the head voice.
- 20:35So it's. Yeah, yeah, no, quite enjoy it
- 20:37because I've always liked that song anyway.
- 20:39But I'm going to ask you both individually.
- 20:41What's your go to karaoke song? I like having a warm up song.
- 20:50Yeah. So it's it's songs that I find
- 20:51really, really easy, but I do not hurt.
- 20:55But no, not in. Your heart, Christina Aguilera.
- 20:57Wayne's favorite song is Christina Aguilera's Hurt, and
- 21:00he keeps trying to get me to sing it.
- 21:01I Can't Sing it. So it's awful, awful.
- 21:04They they expect it's terrible, terrible.
- 21:07Job of it but and I don't know why he keeps asking me to do it
- 21:09other than to it's. Because Christina isn't there.
- 21:12But my Bruin is something we love.
- 21:14I don't understand. It I just imagine Christina's
- 21:15there. Don't.
- 21:16I, but I, I tend to sing Black Horse and the Cherry Tree by
- 21:19Kate Tunstall is one of my warm up songs or a beautiful South or
- 21:24something like that. Sort of songs that I find just
- 21:28really, really simple to sing, you know, sort of, I don't need
- 21:31to warm up for them. They are my warm up songs.
- 21:35But the list of songs that I like to sing is is quite long.
- 21:38Yeah, we used to actually get together.
- 21:40We used to get together and like just basically in my house and
- 21:43just do karaoke for him like 8:00 in the evening till three
- 21:46the following morning. Fortunately, fortunately I do
- 21:48live in the detached house, so my neighbors weren't upset by
- 21:51it. Yeah, we basically just used to
- 21:53do karaoke for for hours. And where you just random.
- 21:57We did. We actually did like sort of
- 21:58pretty much karaoke roulette. So which do whatever song come
- 22:00up, we used to give it a go. And when we when we used to do
- 22:03that, I used to do a lot more songs.
- 22:04But now because we don't really do that and because I'm hosting
- 22:07karaoke a couple of times a week, I kind of forget what
- 22:10songs I like to sing. So generally I now sing the same
- 22:13sort of 10 songs like karaoke which is.
- 22:17I like your snuff. Snuff, Snuff.
- 22:19Slipknot and some free Stone Sour Vienna.
- 22:24We do dirty. Dancing.
- 22:26Yeah, we do. Yeah, we do Dirty Dancing in
- 22:28Greece. We do those as duets and.
- 22:32We've had, I think twice now we've had someone do the lift,
- 22:35yeah. During.
- 22:36Those there. Was it?
- 22:37Was it? Was it?
- 22:39Was it the Irish band from the other day that did it?
- 22:41He might have been there, yeah, I think.
- 22:42It was a smoky wind. Yeah, it was.
- 22:44Yeah. They're they're good boys.
- 22:45Smoke the smoky wind. They're another local band you
- 22:48need to check out a really good and they do like Irish, Irish
- 22:51songs. Yeah, really good guys.
- 22:55Last question, I think the main reason why we're here.
- 22:57What's next for you? Tell me about your upcoming EP.
- 23:01Autumn so so basically we've got winter, Spring, summer.
- 23:13Unfortunately I can't show you autumn because CDs were only
- 23:15ordered today, but it will be out on the 19th of September.
- 23:21So yeah, that's got 4 songs on it.
- 23:25One of which was released as a video today.
- 23:27Yes, yeah, the full song on it is the video that came out today
- 23:31as you're untitled. So yeah, go and check that out.
- 23:35Yeah. But basically it's another #4
- 23:37songs, this one's come across come come out quite well, isn't
- 23:41it? We're quite happy about this for
- 23:42the sounds, the songs. The songs seem stronger, if that
- 23:45makes any any sense. I.
- 23:46Think we've both got much better at being in the studio.
- 23:48It's such a different experience to singing live, you know, in a
- 23:52pub or something. Being in a studio is is totally
- 23:55different. I think it's taken us a little
- 23:56bit of time to, yeah, used to that whole scenario, yeah.
- 23:59Whereas obviously it's now become kind of second because
- 24:01we, well, the, the, I mean, although there was the problems
- 24:04with having the free, the four EPS done so quickly, it was also
- 24:08good for us because gave us that much experience in the studio in
- 24:12such a short time. So now it's kind of a second.
- 24:14Nature so and Moss, who's been doing it for us, I mean, he's,
- 24:16he's a really young lad, but he really knows his stuff.
- 24:19He's. Yeah, he's a good boy, really.
- 24:20Yeah, Tetro Studios is his studios.
- 24:23This is the problem. Very Tetro studios love it.
- 24:27Yeah, he's, he's a good boy. Last idea.
- 24:30Yeah, he we basically went in to do winter with him just to see
- 24:34Carrot come out. We were really happy with it.
- 24:36So we've done our four APS with him and we're booked in in
- 24:39December as well just to record a couple of a couple of new
- 24:41songs. Won't be an APA.
- 24:44And just literally we're going to record the songs releasing as
- 24:47singles with videos. So they'll be available on,
- 24:51yeah, YouTube, YouTube, Spotify. That's that's sort of him, but
- 24:55there won't be on a physical CD so but.
- 24:59Hopefully more CDs next year. Yeah, we're doing nothing.
- 25:02We we ain't sorry about April. April may probably be the next
- 25:05AP off this one. So we're going to have a nice
- 25:07sort of six months off of not having to to rush the APA out,
- 25:12but also got no real plans. Well, maybe.
- 25:14Maybe we have. Maybe we have.
- 25:18If the listeners want to keep up to date and they want to find
- 25:22out what these plans may develop into as the year goes on, where
- 25:27can he find remember Sweeney on social media?
- 25:30Interesting is. Link tree.
- 25:32Link tree. Remember Serenity?
- 25:34And I think it is now. If you just do link type in
- 25:37Google link tree, remember Serenity, That should bring it
- 25:40up, but as a. Kid I don't have.
- 25:43That I don't have that QR code work on, yeah.
- 25:46Yeah, my phone's in charge at the moment.
- 25:47I always turn my phone off because so I can't.
- 25:49That might work so but. Scan if you can.
- 25:53Yeah, I'll, I'll, I'll say. We're on Facebook.
- 25:56Brian Yeah, yeah. Remember Serenity?
- 25:58Just Google us and find us we're.
- 26:01Also give them a subscription on Spotify.
- 26:04I've been there for a while, it's definitely worth checking
- 26:06out. I think the reason I said it to
- 26:08you when a while ago, a long time while I thought it's such
- 26:11an easy listen and I can just switch off and I'm just feel
- 26:14like I'm there in some of the songs.
- 26:18Thank you, I think it's really good stuff.
- 26:19I'm looking forward to seeing you both live again.
- 26:21I think I saw a bit of it. Unfortunately I was doing
- 26:23compensation. I was a bit late, but I did see
- 26:25a few songs at the end. Box talk, shouts, parts happen.
- 26:28But I'm looking forward to seeing you guys again.
- 26:31I'll keep listening, I'll keep supporting you both.
- 26:33Is there anything you want to say or anything?
- 26:35I don't know, get off your chest.
- 26:37Anything funny you want to say? We're now at the end of the
- 26:40interview. Just just thanks for having us.
- 26:43We appreciate it. We want to do more of this kind
- 26:45of thing as it's like we've kind of been kind of just not really
- 26:50doing as much as we can. Yeah.
- 26:52I mean like this banner, this backdrop, for example.
- 26:54For example, we've had what, 3 months now and.
- 26:56This is the first. This is the first time we've
- 26:58actually got round to setting it up and using it.
- 27:00We did kind of we were going to use it for one of our videos.
- 27:03Did we use this video? No, we didn't do we?
- 27:05No, no, So we weren't getting easy for one of our videos, but
- 27:08we but then we fall because we're we're planning on doing
- 27:10the live streaming and this sort of thing.
- 27:13But like I say today, thanks to you and this, this, this you
- 27:17kind of prompted us to get this, this set up and we just get, we
- 27:20thought we'd just like, you know, RIP off the Band-Aid and
- 27:22do a live stream today. You know, we're going to start
- 27:24on Facebook just because I have to do that.
- 27:26But we are going to be moving on to Twitch as soon as we can work
- 27:29it out, as soon as we know what we're doing.
- 27:30Because we're old. Yeah, we are.
- 27:32We will provide an age of like 97 or something so.
- 27:36If you if you want to see us, though, we pretty much play
- 27:39every Monday night at the Park Tavern.
- 27:43We're sort of like other local sort of like open mics, and
- 27:46we've got a few gigs coming up. Fickle Pickle.
- 27:48Fickle Pickle on the 9th. 11th, 11th Yeah, it's 911th.
- 27:52Yeah. Yeah.
- 27:53September 11th, we're at the fickle.
- 27:54Pickle so your next Thursday if I don't know when this is going
- 27:57live or when this is going out, but but if it's if it's before
- 28:01the 11th of September, come down the fickle pickle.
- 28:03We are on 1st. It will be.
- 28:05It will be. Yeah, there's.
- 28:07Football bands playing. I can't remember what the other
- 28:10ones are. The Undings.
- 28:14Sorry. Park Dr. which I'm hoping it's
- 28:17such a Parkway Drive. I'm hoping they're gonna be the
- 28:20fingerprint was gonna have all that sort of fire and tennis and
- 28:22someone else. But we're on 1st because
- 28:23obviously we're an acoustic duo and the others are all actual
- 28:26bands and so yes. But we're up for more gigs and
- 28:30things like that. If you want someone, I want us
- 28:32to play and just let us know. If you need an acousted duo,
- 28:36yeah, we'll play weddings. Vomit, vomit for that.
- 28:38Funerals. Yeah.
- 28:40Funerals. Probably most appropriate.
- 28:42Yeah, we could buy funerals. We should probably sell that.
- 28:46We should probably book them out.
- 28:48It's a big a little merch stand as well at the funeral.
- 28:50It's like. We do.
- 28:52We do have merch, by the way. Yeah, we have T-shirts and
- 28:55neither of us are wearing one. We've got T-shirts and badges
- 28:59and stickers and and all sorts. So key rings, yeah.
- 29:03Thank you very much. Thank you very much.
