- 0:00Speaker 1: Fly from Midtown Manhattan.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Here comes the Mark Simone Show on seven TENR.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Well, hey, thank got it. Friday, we got a lot
- 0:13Speaker 3: to get to Today. It's going to be a beautiful,
- 0:15Speaker 3: a little hot, ninety degree sunny day. Same thing tomorrow.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Although there was a forecast of a lot of thunderstorms
- 0:22Speaker 3: on Sunday, it looks like that's changing a little. It
- 0:25Speaker 3: looks like now it's a passing thunderstorm on Sunday. So
- 0:28Speaker 3: it should be a great weekend. We'll get to crazy
- 0:31Speaker 3: Scott Pelley, We'll get to Pratt Platner, We'll get to
- 0:35Speaker 3: Biden in town. We'll get to a crazy mayor, Mom,
- 0:38Speaker 3: Donnie and the Arch, and a whole lot more. Of course,
- 0:42Speaker 3: the Knicks tonight, big game tonight, that's San Antonio. Then
- 0:46Speaker 3: they come back here and they play in New York
- 0:49Speaker 3: Monday night. It will be a big, big game Monday night.
- 0:54Speaker 3: President Trump will be here, so it'd be a security nightmare.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Traffic wise, it'll be a mess Monday night, Trump, President
- 1:01Speaker 3: Trump coming in for the next game. He'll sit turns
- 1:04Speaker 3: out now in the owner's box, the suite with Jim
- 1:08Speaker 3: Dolan and some others will be there. Bruce Blakeman and
- 1:12Speaker 3: some other people. Mom Donnie is coming to the game.
- 1:15Speaker 3: He makes it clear he will not be in the
- 1:17Speaker 3: owner's suite. He will be somewhere in the stands. He
- 1:20Speaker 3: claims he's paid for the ticket, which means the campaign
- 1:25Speaker 3: paid for the ticket, since he has no income, has
- 1:28Speaker 3: never had a job. But he'll be there. And then
- 1:32Speaker 3: if you go online and try to get a ticket
- 1:34Speaker 3: for this Monday night game at the Garden, I think
- 1:37Speaker 3: the cheapest ticket resale is now like two hundred and
- 1:40Speaker 3: eighty five thousand dollars. Absolutely preposterous. President Trump yesterday, I'm
- 1:46Speaker 3: going to the next game.
- 1:47Speaker 4: I've been a Nick fan for a long time, and
- 1:49Speaker 4: I'm also a Jim Dolan fan.
- 1:51Speaker 3: He's a nice guy.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Okay, He's been a long time wanting to win, and
- 1:55Speaker 5: he's he's a competitive guy, and he's got a team
- 1:57Speaker 5: that's amazing.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't think Kathy Hope will be there because
- 2:00Speaker 3: it'd be the first time she ever went to a
- 2:01Speaker 3: Knicks game. She tried to imply President Trump was not
- 2:04Speaker 3: a Knicks fan, although people quickly went online and found
- 2:08Speaker 3: many thousands of pictures of him sitting at the front
- 2:12Speaker 3: row of the Knicks through the years, all constantly for
- 2:15Speaker 3: like thirty forty years. He really is a big Knicks fan.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And remember he put them on the Apprentice. He's a
- 2:21Speaker 3: big Knicks fan. So he'll be there Monday night. It'll
- 2:25Speaker 3: be a big, big moment in New York. If you've
- 2:27Speaker 3: been walking around New York, you'll notice there are all
- 2:31Speaker 3: the bagel places now have orange, orange and blue bagels. Donuts,
- 2:37Speaker 3: orange and blue donuts are everywhere. It's Knicks fever everywhere
- 2:41Speaker 3: in New York. Hey, President Trump has he's appointed this guy,
- 2:48Speaker 3: Bruce Poulty as the acting Director of National Intelligence. Now,
- 2:53Speaker 3: as we keep telling you, he's not going to be
- 2:55Speaker 3: the Director of National Intelligence. This is just temporary until
- 2:59Speaker 3: they and he did this last time first term, just
- 3:02Speaker 3: threw somebody in there temporarily till he found who he wanted,
- 3:06Speaker 3: which ended up being John Ratcliffe. So and you know,
- 3:09Speaker 3: this Paulty doesn't look very qualified for Director of National Intelligence.
- 3:13Speaker 3: President asked about that yesterday.
- 3:15Speaker 6: It's an acting position, it's not apartment. He's not going
- 3:17Speaker 6: to be permanent, because you know, I don't think he'd
- 3:19Speaker 6: want to be permanent.
- 3:20Speaker 4: But he's a very smart guy and he may find
- 3:22Speaker 4: as some things about the rigged elections, et cetera.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Et cetera. Yeah, he's a very smart guy. He's one
- 3:28Speaker 3: run Fanny and Freddie and all sorts of He's very
- 3:31Speaker 3: good at going into one of these big systems and
- 3:34Speaker 3: finding some flaws or some things that shouldn't be there.
- 3:39Speaker 3: So that's one reason he wants to go They want
- 3:41Speaker 3: he Trump wants him to go in. He's like sending
- 3:43Speaker 3: an auditor in the check things. He's gonna check out
- 3:48Speaker 3: the intelligence community, what they're hiding, what they're not doing,
- 3:50Speaker 3: what they should be doing, what they're doing, that they
- 3:52Speaker 3: shouldn't be doing, that kind of stuff. Although it's it's
- 3:55Speaker 3: the CIA, it's the intelligence people imagine they're pretty good
- 3:58Speaker 3: at covering stuff up, but he's pretty good at finding it.
- 4:01Speaker 3: So that's why he's there till they appoint somebody. President
- 4:04Speaker 3: wants better stuff coming from the intelligence community. You can't
- 4:09Speaker 3: trust them, as many presidents from Kennedy to Bush learned,
- 4:14Speaker 3: you can't trust him on everything. John Bolton will pay
- 4:19Speaker 3: a two and a two point two five million dollars fine,
- 4:24Speaker 3: he's agreed to that. You know, Bolton, if you go
- 4:27Speaker 3: back to last year, all you heard about was this
- 4:29Speaker 3: is a weaponization of the Justice Department retribution. He's been
- 4:34Speaker 3: targeted for being a critic of the president. Well, it
- 4:36Speaker 3: turns out he's absolutely one thousand percent guilty. He's admitted
- 4:42Speaker 3: that he's totally guilty. One of the reasons he pled guilty.
- 4:45Speaker 3: He's facing like eight eight counts that could send him
- 4:49Speaker 3: to jail for a long time. So to get rid
- 4:52Speaker 3: of that, he agreed to plead guilty till one count,
- 4:56Speaker 3: where the maximum prison term would be five years. He's
- 4:58Speaker 3: agreed one count, he'll pay the big fine. Still, a
- 5:03Speaker 3: judge could still send him to prison. But if you
- 5:06Speaker 3: go back to last year, you'll see everybody, including him,
- 5:10Speaker 3: all over television saying these are false charges. They're just
- 5:13Speaker 3: weaponizing the Justice Department. They're just out to get them.
- 5:16Speaker 3: And then if you go back to when Trump mar
- 5:20Speaker 3: a Lago was rated the document's case, you'll see video
- 5:25Speaker 3: of Bolton all over television saying President Trump, Donald Trump
- 5:29Speaker 3: must go to jail for having those documents. He must
- 5:33Speaker 3: go to jail. So Bolton obviously regretting those videos. In fact,
- 5:38Speaker 3: the prosecutor could play that for the judge where Bolton
- 5:41Speaker 3: on television says you've got to go to jail for
- 5:43Speaker 3: having classified documents. You got to give the guy credit
- 5:47Speaker 3: for Hutzbud Oliver Television saying that when he knows at
- 5:51Speaker 3: home on his computer, he's got tons of classified documents
- 5:55Speaker 3: sitting there. Not only that, but he shared him with
- 5:57Speaker 3: his family. Obviously they have no clearance to look at
- 6:01Speaker 3: this stuff. He was a hundred percent guilty. Hey, and
- 6:04Speaker 3: a lot of people pointing out that what he's gonna
- 6:07Speaker 3: get convicted of and possibly go to jail for and
- 6:11Speaker 3: definitely pay a huge fine is exactly what Hillary Clinton
- 6:16Speaker 3: got caught doing, storing classified documents on her home computers.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Totally illegal. This is what Hillary Clinton did. This is
- 6:25Speaker 3: what she should have been convicted of. But the dirty
- 6:29Speaker 3: cop James Komby, remember he held that fake press conference
- 6:32Speaker 3: where he said no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a charge. Well,
- 6:37Speaker 3: there was never any truth to that. It was a
- 6:38Speaker 3: total lie. It was Komy at his dirtiest, you know,
- 6:44Speaker 3: letting Hillary off the hook. Now, it's definitely a crime.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Hillary should have been charged with it. Any reasonable prosecutor
- 6:54Speaker 3: would bring the charge. And here's the real point. These
- 6:58Speaker 3: charges against Bolton began under the Biden Justice Department. It
- 7:03Speaker 3: was the Biden Justice Department that opened up this case.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It was the Biden Justice Department that began this process,
- 7:10Speaker 3: So it's a Biden case originally. Hey, speaking of Crazy Joe.
- 7:15Speaker 3: He and Jill are in town for the book tour
- 7:18Speaker 3: of this horrible book. It's the if you read the book,
- 7:21Speaker 3: it's just boring, shallow, empty, dull. In other words, it
- 7:29Speaker 3: captures her perfectly. It's really hering. There's nothing in the book.
- 7:34Speaker 3: You know, when anybody's on a book tour and they're
- 7:36Speaker 3: doing all these TV shows, all these interviews about the book,
- 7:40Speaker 3: what they do is in the interviews they give you
- 7:42Speaker 3: some juicy tidbits from the book or wow, and they
- 7:45Speaker 3: tell you a story in the book and the host is,
- 7:47Speaker 3: oh my, wow. You notice there hasn't been one of
- 7:51Speaker 3: those from Jill Biden because there aren't any. There's no highlights,
- 7:54Speaker 3: there's no juicy things in the book. Nothing. So in
- 7:57Speaker 3: four hundred interviews, she has yet to reveal anything of interest.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Even the publisher, you know, usually the publisher puts out
- 8:03Speaker 3: some stuff. You know, hey, here's what's in the book.
- 8:06Speaker 3: There's nothing, absolutely nothing. So they run around New York
- 8:11Speaker 3: doing interviews with a caravan of SUVs seven eight big
- 8:17Speaker 3: you had, you know, these big big those black secret
- 8:21Speaker 3: service kind of cars pull up and the bidens that
- 8:26Speaker 3: travel all over the place in New York. They did
- 8:27Speaker 3: go to dinner last night. They were supposed to go.
- 8:32Speaker 3: The word was they were going to Elios. Now on
- 8:34Speaker 3: the Upper East Side, there's a little circuit of the
- 8:37Speaker 3: top Italian restaurants. There's Elos, there's Promola, and there's Nicola's.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Nicola's is the best of the bunch, especially food wise,
- 8:46Speaker 3: it's the best, one of the best Italian restaurants in
- 8:49Speaker 3: New York. Elio's very popular, but with the wrong people,
- 8:52Speaker 3: you know, Nicolas. You go in there, you get the
- 8:54Speaker 3: top CEOs, the tough business people. Elos is Donny Deutsch
- 8:59Speaker 3: and that sort of It's like a lot of media.
- 9:03Speaker 3: There's a lot of Donny Deutsch's in there. So the
- 9:05Speaker 3: word was Biden was going to go to Elio's last night.
- 9:08Speaker 3: So a lot of people showed up. Donny Deutsch, Martha Stewart,
- 9:13Speaker 3: all these celebrities are sitting there waiting for Joe Biden.
- 9:17Speaker 3: He fooled everybody and he went to the restaurant FuMO,
- 9:21Speaker 3: which nothing wrong with it, but it's kind of a
- 9:23Speaker 3: nothing place. It's a little tiny, it doesn't look like much.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It's not Nicolas, it's not ELO's or Promola. Doesn't look
- 9:30Speaker 3: like that Fumos. If you walk by, you just kind
- 9:32Speaker 3: of look at it and not even think about going.
- 9:34Speaker 3: And somehow Biden ended up there some speculation that Biden
- 9:40Speaker 3: just got lost and mistaken and thought he was in
- 9:42Speaker 3: Ilios Ilio's saying they really didn't ever think he was coming.
- 9:47Speaker 3: But hopefully this is it and the Bidens will leave
- 9:50Speaker 3: town today and get the hell out of here. Hey,
- 9:54Speaker 3: you know about the arch, This is going to be
- 9:56Speaker 3: the next big thing. The ballroom fight and all that,
- 10:00Speaker 3: and then the Democrats and the liberals, the media have
- 10:03Speaker 3: been fighting about the reflecting pool. They don't like what
- 10:06Speaker 3: Trump did to it. He fixed it. It was a
- 10:08Speaker 3: total disaster, leaking a mess. He fixed it. It's now
- 10:13Speaker 3: working perfectly. But they don't like the color heat the
- 10:15Speaker 3: blue that he used. So that was a big fight,
- 10:18Speaker 3: but it didn't catch on. Public couldn't care less about this.
- 10:22Speaker 3: So the next big fight will be the arch. He
- 10:25Speaker 3: wants to put in a massive arch in Washington, DC,
- 10:29Speaker 3: you know, like the Arcta triumphan in Paris, that beautiful
- 10:33Speaker 3: arch where all the big boulevards come together, that circle,
- 10:36Speaker 3: and then Washington Square Park you got a little version
- 10:40Speaker 3: of it. You got that arch. So Trump wants to
- 10:42Speaker 3: build one of those in Washington, d C. As you
- 10:45Speaker 3: head towards the Potomac, and it looks beautiful. I mean,
- 10:50Speaker 3: maybe a little too much gold on it, but it
- 10:52Speaker 3: looks beautiful. It looks spectacular. He's the greatest builder in America,
- 10:57Speaker 3: so he'll get it done. So if you're on only
- 10:59Speaker 3: those left wing sites, the Blue Sky, the left wing
- 11:03Speaker 3: Facebook people, they are all yelling and screaming about the arch.
- 11:06Speaker 3: It blocks the view of Arlington. I don't know, but
- 11:11Speaker 3: it stops there to look at Arlington, and actually with
- 11:13Speaker 3: the arch, people will most likely get out and walk
- 11:16Speaker 3: around that circle and they'll have the view. Doug Bergham testifying,
- 11:21Speaker 3: had to defend the arch.
- 11:22Speaker 2: There's a very large circle. It was designed to hold
- 11:24Speaker 2: a monument. The arc that would go there is a
- 11:29Speaker 2: fantastic compliment and completion of this plan that's over one
- 11:32Speaker 2: hundred and twenty years ago.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Yeah. No, it looks beautiful. Maybe a little touch cold,
- 11:37Speaker 3: but it looks beautiful.
- 11:39Speaker 2: People come from around the world. They don't know that
- 11:41Speaker 2: one hundred yards away is the beautiful Potomac River, which
- 11:44Speaker 2: was part of the original plan. And now they didn't
- 11:46Speaker 2: be able to walk around the Lincoln Memorial, walk on
- 11:48Speaker 2: a pedestrian bridge, over the first highway, walk over the
- 11:51Speaker 2: next one, and right down to the water.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be beautiful. But Democrats love to yell and
- 11:58Speaker 3: scream about any thing they ken, So had that crazy
- 12:02Speaker 3: Scott Pelley, he put out this letter to everybody. I
- 12:07Speaker 3: still think CBS should sue him. He really should get
- 12:10Speaker 3: sued over this. He accuses him of all kinds of nonsense.
- 12:13Speaker 3: He claims he was ordered he was told to put
- 12:16Speaker 3: fake things into stories. He was told to put false
- 12:20Speaker 3: assertations into stories, put false information into stories. Now the
- 12:25Speaker 3: real truth. That's why the should sueme to have this
- 12:27Speaker 3: all come out. All he was told to do was
- 12:30Speaker 3: when he was doing one of those hit pieces. When
- 12:32Speaker 3: he was doing one of those hatchet jobs, he was told, hey,
- 12:35Speaker 3: you got to put in a response from the other side.
- 12:37Speaker 3: You have to get the other So when he went
- 12:40Speaker 3: vicious attack on the Trump administration, he had to let
- 12:43Speaker 3: them respond and put that in the piece, which is
- 12:45Speaker 3: standard journalism for one hundred years, but to him, that
- 12:49Speaker 3: was putting false assertations in there. Now, look at this,
- 12:52Speaker 3: Katie Kuric all of a sudden jumps into this. Katie
- 12:56Speaker 3: Kuric comes out and says, CBS was absolutely right. Barry
- 13:00Speaker 3: Weiss had no choice, no choice but to fire him.
- 13:05Speaker 3: It was classic definitive insubordination. You had to fire him. Now,
- 13:11Speaker 3: she's a real left winger. Why would she jump in
- 13:14Speaker 3: on this, Well, obviously she'd like to go back to CBS.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Obviously she knows there's going to be a lot of
- 13:20Speaker 3: openings at sixty minutes for correspondence anchors. She'd like to
- 13:24Speaker 3: be one of them. So that's why she's jumping back
- 13:27Speaker 3: in there now. Of course, she was once the anchor
- 13:30Speaker 3: of the CBS Evening News paid her of fortune to
- 13:33Speaker 3: get her away from NBC. It didn't do well, it
- 13:36Speaker 3: wasn't great. Now, the one reason she could be hired
- 13:40Speaker 3: there is she was always known, you know the Today
- 13:43Speaker 3: Show years as kind of a neutral, non political kind
- 13:47Speaker 3: of a person. However, in the last year she's gone
- 13:51Speaker 3: very left wing and really lashed out at Trump and
- 13:55Speaker 3: that kind of stuff all over podcasts in every place.
- 13:58Speaker 3: So now maybe that was the Curry favored with the
- 14:01Speaker 3: left and didn't work. They left, didn't have much interest.
- 14:04Speaker 3: And now maybe she's trying to go back the other way.
- 14:06Speaker 3: But you left a paper trail of comments that might
- 14:11Speaker 3: make them think you're not so objective. Hey, if you're
- 14:14Speaker 3: a Democrat or a liberal, you might want to cover
- 14:16Speaker 3: your ears from it. It's very bad news for you.
- 14:19Speaker 3: And it was a very sad day for CNBC. They
- 14:22Speaker 3: had to report the new jobs numbers job's numbers coming
- 14:25Speaker 3: out this morning. They were not only good, they were spectacular.
- 14:29Speaker 3: They were double double what was expected one hundred and
- 14:33Speaker 3: seventy two thousand new jobs in the month. Not twenty
- 14:37Speaker 3: percent better than expected, one hundred percent better. Literally double.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Unemployment rate remains four point three. That is considered full employment,
- 14:47Speaker 3: very good news for the economy. Don't tell Elizabeth Warren
- 14:51Speaker 3: about that, you know, whenever she's asked about Platner, she
- 14:55Speaker 3: changes the subject about how bad everything Everything is bad.
- 14:57Speaker 3: To Elizabeth Warren, I do.
- 14:59Speaker 1: You worry about war coming out about his past? That
- 15:01Speaker 1: could damage his chances. What I'm worried about is another
- 15:04Speaker 1: day of war in iranizations.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Are these accusations disturbing to you?
- 15:10Speaker 2: What is disturbing to me is what's happening in this
- 15:14Speaker 2: economy and how right now the Republicans just sign off
- 15:18Speaker 2: on it.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah, what is happening in this disastrous economy? This is
- 15:21Speaker 3: all over, these sort of things all over CNN, MSNBC,
- 15:25Speaker 3: the disastrous economy, and the Liberals have all convinced themselves
- 15:29Speaker 3: there's problems in the economy. Every economic number, every economic
- 15:33Speaker 3: metric is great right now, except for gas prices. They're
- 15:36Speaker 3: a little higher, nowhere near the Biden levels, but they're
- 15:40Speaker 3: a little higher, and that'll come down. But otherwise the
- 15:42Speaker 3: economy is doing very very well. Don't tell her that though. Hey,
- 15:47Speaker 3: we'll take some calls in a moment. Eight hundred three
- 15:49Speaker 3: to two one zero seven ten is the number. Eight
- 15:52Speaker 3: hundred three to two one zero seven ten. It's the
- 15:57Speaker 3: Mark Simone Show Live from the Double Life Back studios. Hey,
- 16:05Speaker 3: we'll take some calls. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 16:08Speaker 3: seven ten is the number. Let's go to Dave in Chicago. Dave,
- 16:12Speaker 3: how you.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Doing, Good morning, Mark. I'm doing very well, Thank you. Mark.
- 16:16Speaker 7: I was watching President of Trump's press conference yesterday and
- 16:20Speaker 7: the idea of a two hundred and fifty dollars bill
- 16:22Speaker 7: featuring his image was raised. Obviously, if this was to happen,
- 16:27Speaker 7: they would have to change the law and to make
- 16:30Speaker 7: it legal tender. But I'm wondering, why did they discuss
- 16:34Speaker 7: two hundred and fifty dollars?
- 16:35Speaker 3: Isn't that Oh, because it's two hundred and fifty two
- 16:39Speaker 3: hundred and fiftieth birthday of America.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Oh, I understand.
- 16:43Speaker 3: It would be like a limited edition, special commemorative bill
- 16:47Speaker 3: just this year that put it out. And by the way,
- 16:49Speaker 3: if you can get one, get one, because it may
- 16:51Speaker 3: be worth a fortune. You know, those rare bill's coins
- 16:54Speaker 3: end up being worth a fortune years later. But it's
- 16:56Speaker 3: to celebrate the two hundred and fiftieth birthday. Let's go
- 17:00Speaker 3: to Chris in Manhattan. Chris, how you doing?
- 17:02Speaker 4: Good morning, Mark. I'm not being a panic in this time.
- 17:05Speaker 3: He's always a panic and he's always panicking.
- 17:07Speaker 4: That's this time. Listen. Who makes up the rules for
- 17:11Speaker 4: the bus lanes and the bike lanes and all that stuff.
- 17:13Speaker 4: I was driving on twentieth on Madison Avenue in the
- 17:17Speaker 4: twenties and thirties. It was one lane. Last night, they
- 17:20Speaker 4: have these two enormous bus lanes that are totally being
- 17:23Speaker 4: unused at like nine o'clock at night, and the other
- 17:26Speaker 4: side is parking. It's one lane going up Madison Avenue.
- 17:29Speaker 4: And they have all these side streets, these small side
- 17:32Speaker 4: streets with bike lanes on them. Nobody really pays attention
- 17:35Speaker 4: to it. But it's an inconvenience because they put up
- 17:37Speaker 4: these stupid barriers and there are no bikes on them.
- 17:40Speaker 3: It's done by politicians who don't know what the hell
- 17:42Speaker 3: they're doing. What they do is they take any street
- 17:44Speaker 3: four lanes, put in bike lanes, a scooter lanes, bus lane.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Next thing you know, it's only one lane for traffic.
- 17:50Speaker 3: And then after a while they go, look at the congestion.
- 17:52Speaker 3: We must have congestion pricing to reduce the congestion.
- 17:55Speaker 4: And there was there was traffic last night, like nine
- 17:57Speaker 4: to thirty ten o'clock, there was traffic on Madison Avenue
- 18:00Speaker 4: and it was because it was all one lane. It
- 18:02Speaker 4: wasn't an accident or anything. No, how did the trucks
- 18:05Speaker 4: do it during the day, Like if there are trucks there,
- 18:07Speaker 4: you can't go on the bus lane. Trucks make deliveries
- 18:10Speaker 4: in Manhattan. What happens on Madison Avenue when it's only
- 18:13Speaker 4: one lane.
- 18:14Speaker 3: That's what they do, and that's why they have congestion pricing,
- 18:16Speaker 3: because they create They created the congestion. Get rid of
- 18:20Speaker 3: the bike lanes, the bus lanes, get rid of all
- 18:22Speaker 3: of that.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Maybe never have so many been so inconvenienced for the
- 18:25Speaker 4: benefit of so few. I mean all the bicycle lanes
- 18:27Speaker 4: or deliveries for you they have hamburgers.
- 18:30Speaker 3: And stuff exactly. That's the that's the problem. Some of
- 18:33Speaker 3: the streets have two bus lanes. You only need one
- 18:35Speaker 3: stop it with all of that stuff. Get rid of
- 18:37Speaker 3: all of that. You don't need. You know, sixth Avenue
- 18:40Speaker 3: used to be fifth Avenue, used to be four or
- 18:42Speaker 3: five lanes. Now it's one lane, two lanes. Absolutely ridiculous.
- 18:46Speaker 3: That's why you got congestion pricing. Should not allow politicians
- 18:50Speaker 3: to ever ever do stuff like this. They don't know
- 18:52Speaker 3: what the hell they're doing. Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike,
- 18:56Speaker 3: how you doing.
- 18:58Speaker 6: Good morning, Mark, Like I have to give the Democrats
- 19:02Speaker 6: like Elizabeth Warren credit. They know how to stick take
- 19:05Speaker 6: a story and stick with it. This Graham Plattner story
- 19:09Speaker 6: is a perfect contrast with the with the Spencer Pratt
- 19:14Speaker 6: story in La Democrats. This guy can do no wrong.
- 19:19Speaker 6: The guy from Maine, on the other hand, you ask
- 19:21Speaker 6: a republicanoun Spencer Pratt, and they start to clutch their pearls.
- 19:24Speaker 6: Well he's not really experienced. Well he could be, and
- 19:28Speaker 6: there's all this equivocation the Democrats. Nope, there's nothing wrong.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Nazi signal.
- 19:33Speaker 5: No, it's not a Nazi signal.
- 19:34Speaker 1: What do you create?
- 19:35Speaker 6: Jewish guys and Bernie Sanders are supporting him.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Don't be too shocked if Platner is gone by Monday,
- 19:40Speaker 3: don't be too surprised. He could be. You're right, but
- 19:44Speaker 3: there's more comment.
- 19:45Speaker 6: And he lasted this long as remarkable.
- 19:47Speaker 3: There's more common and Republicans have a lot more about him.
- 19:50Speaker 3: They haven't released yet, but Democrats are starting to get
- 19:53Speaker 3: worried about that, so they may replace it.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I'm sure you're right.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yeah, they got the main governor who'd be the backup candidate,
- 19:59Speaker 3: who's pretty good. But well, thanks for calling. Let's go
- 20:02Speaker 3: to Rich and Myrtle Beach Rich, how you doing?
- 20:05Speaker 5: Hey, Hey, thanks Mark. That guy had it slightly wrong.
- 20:07Speaker 5: The Democrats sure know how to get rid of somebody.
- 20:09Speaker 5: When they want to get rid of somebody, it's not
- 20:11Speaker 5: a matter of stick with a story. They put their
- 20:13Speaker 5: target on you. You're totally done. You know, Hey, this
- 20:16Speaker 5: John Bolton's got to go to jail at least that way,
- 20:18Speaker 5: somebody like in Trump's administration will actually put somebody in
- 20:21Speaker 5: jail behind balls. But it's funny because John Bolton is
- 20:25Speaker 5: hated by both sides so much as no way this
- 20:27Speaker 5: guy was getting out of this in the first place.
- 20:29Speaker 5: He flip flopped so many times both sides hate him.
- 20:32Speaker 5: And the last point is Joe Biden, this doctorate of
- 20:35Speaker 5: education can't even write a book and put some sentences
- 20:38Speaker 5: together to make anything.
- 20:39Speaker 3: So well, doctor of education, she's a teacher, but she
- 20:42Speaker 3: was a teacher at Delaware Community College. Imagine your husband's
- 20:45Speaker 3: vice president of the United States, and that's the best
- 20:47Speaker 3: job you can get Delaware Community College.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, my wife was a New York City
- 20:52Speaker 5: school teacher for twenty six and a half years and
- 20:55Speaker 5: headn did a fantastic job, and she could write a
- 20:57Speaker 5: better book anybody could.
- 20:59Speaker 3: But well, thanks for calling. Yeah, it's a platinir an,
- 21:03Speaker 3: absolute mess. Republicans got all kinds of dirt on them.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Don't be shocked if that comes out pretty soon. Let's
- 21:07Speaker 3: go to Barbara and Long Island. Barbara, how you doing.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Wait a minute, Barbara, are you there?
- 21:15Speaker 8: Yes, I am. Can you hear me?
- 21:16Speaker 3: Now? I can hear you.
- 21:17Speaker 8: Go ahead, Okay, great. I know this is a little
- 21:20Speaker 8: bit of all news. But I'm still concerned about those
- 21:24Speaker 8: people that were going down into the manholes. Yeah, I
- 21:28Speaker 8: mean to me, I think I should be investigated a
- 21:31Speaker 8: little bit more. I mean, isn't it a concern that
- 21:34Speaker 8: maybe they're down there putting.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Oh no, no, we know why they're down there. They're thieves,
- 21:39Speaker 3: they believe it or not. If you go through the sewers,
- 21:42Speaker 3: people lose things, they fall down the grid. If you
- 21:44Speaker 3: go look down there and look, you'll find jewelry, you'll
- 21:47Speaker 3: find money, you'll.
- 21:49Speaker 8: Find I'm a little concerned about possible explosives or some
- 21:52Speaker 8: kind of terrorism.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And did they no, no, no, no, they're all yeah, they're
- 21:56Speaker 3: all just crummy little It's probably the lowest job in
- 21:58Speaker 3: thief world to be the souer were.
- 22:01Speaker 8: I hope you're correct.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, they got it. And actually they're watching
- 22:06Speaker 3: for them now. They stopped us. It's a it's quite
- 22:08Speaker 3: an operation. They wear those ed Norton you know, rubber
- 22:11Speaker 3: boots and rubber coveralls, and I get that ed Norton
- 22:15Speaker 3: sewer clothes. They go down there, five or six of them.
- 22:19Speaker 3: They go through the tunnels. They pick up everything they can, jewelry,
- 22:22Speaker 3: watch his money, all sorts of stuff. Phones, and then
- 22:26Speaker 3: they climb back up and there's a car waiting for him.
- 22:28Speaker 3: They take off all the dirty, filthy clothes, throw them
- 22:30Speaker 3: in the trunk and the car takes them away. Hey,
- 22:33Speaker 3: when we come back, Roger Friedman, the Great Entertainment Reporter,
- 22:36Speaker 3: we'll talk to him next on seven ten WR The.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Mark Simon Show on sevent ten WR.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Hey, Roger Friedman, the Great Entertainment Reporter's got a wonderful
- 22:49Speaker 3: website with the new stuff every day. You should check
- 22:51Speaker 3: it every day. Showbiz for one one dot com, Showbiz
- 22:56Speaker 3: for one one dot com. Roger Friedman, how you doing?
- 23:00Speaker 1: I'm great? Good morning Mark.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Hey, our friend Clive Davis was in the hospital. How's
- 23:05Speaker 3: he doing now?
- 23:06Speaker 2: He was?
- 23:07Speaker 1: He's home. He's recuperating from an upper respiratory infection. You know,
- 23:13Speaker 1: he's ninety four and OPRA Memorial Day weekend, he had
- 23:18Speaker 1: a three day event at his house in Westchester where
- 23:21Speaker 1: there were like one hundred guests there, and you know
- 23:25Speaker 1: he's right at the center of all the activity, so
- 23:28Speaker 1: it might have been a little much, you know, for anybody.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Forget about ninety four even seventy four. So yeah, but
- 23:35Speaker 1: let's go to the hospital for.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Let's explain that he does that every weekend. That's a
- 23:39Speaker 3: normal weekend. One hundred people come to the house, and
- 23:42Speaker 3: you get a schedule. When you get there, you've been there,
- 23:44Speaker 3: you get that that's a right schedule. Nine o'clock breakfast,
- 23:47Speaker 3: ten o'clock rest period, and then you're all going to
- 23:52Speaker 3: lunch at this restaurant and there's two buses waiting to
- 23:54Speaker 3: take you, and.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Then that's exactly right dinner. And then they've got a show.
- 23:58Speaker 1: They put on a show in the theater. Everyone performs.
- 24:03Speaker 1: It's hysterical, and he's right at the center of it
- 24:08Speaker 1: all the time. So you know, he loves it. He's
- 24:11Speaker 1: a showman. So he's going to just take it easy
- 24:15Speaker 1: now and recuperate. I think I don't think he'll make
- 24:18Speaker 1: it to the Songwriters Hall of Fame on next Thursday.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Hopefully he'll just yeah, hopefully he'll stay in bed or
- 24:25Speaker 1: sit outside on the terrace, and you know, listen to
- 24:28Speaker 1: some music.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I don't know. This is the guy that goes out
- 24:31Speaker 3: seven nights week. You really think he'll stay at home.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Well, he's going to have to until he feels better. Yeah,
- 24:37Speaker 1: this is a it's a serious thing to have a
- 24:39Speaker 1: upper respiratory infection, especially at that age. But he's going
- 24:43Speaker 1: to be fine and we're all sending him good wishes.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Well, that's good. Hey, Tony Awards this Sunday.
- 24:49Speaker 1: What do you think Tony Awards are going to be great?
- 24:52Speaker 1: First of all, the ratings are going to be great.
- 24:54Speaker 1: There's no competition, there's no sports at all, so they're
- 24:59Speaker 1: very lucky they don't have a Knicks game or anything
- 25:01Speaker 1: against them. And Pink the singer, is going to be
- 25:04Speaker 1: the host, and I think she's going to be great.
- 25:07Speaker 1: They have all the shows, all the musicals that are
- 25:10Speaker 1: on Broadway are doing numbers. They're having a big anniversary
- 25:16Speaker 1: number for the Book of Mormon with all of their
- 25:18Speaker 1: original Tony winners. Queen Latifa is doing a thirtieth anniversary
- 25:22Speaker 1: of Chicago the Musical, So it's going to be I
- 25:26Speaker 1: think it's going to be pretty cool. Yeah, it was
- 25:29Speaker 1: going to be pretty entertaining.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Broadway this year. Was it a big money wise? Was
- 25:33Speaker 3: it a big year for Broadway?
- 25:35Speaker 1: It was a big year money wise, but it wasn't
- 25:38Speaker 1: a great year for the quality of the new musicals
- 25:41Speaker 1: because it's very expensive to produce a musical now on Broadway.
- 25:45Speaker 1: They've got to get the costs down and so they're
- 25:47Speaker 1: only bringing in things that have recognized titles like Beaches
- 25:53Speaker 1: came in and then it closed immediately, and that's a
- 25:56Speaker 1: problem because they're trying to turn these movie names into
- 25:59Speaker 1: musical and nobody wants that. And the shows aren't good,
- 26:03Speaker 1: they're not made for musicals. So last year we had Maybe,
- 26:10Speaker 1: what's it called Maybe ever After and Maybe Happy Ending,
- 26:15Speaker 1: and that was an original show that was brilliant. So
- 26:19Speaker 1: they've got to they've got to go back to doing that.
- 26:21Speaker 1: This year was a tough year financially to produce shows,
- 26:25Speaker 1: but otherwise, no, the shows are booming. Hamilton is booming,
- 26:28Speaker 1: Harry Potter is booming, of course, the Whiz and the
- 26:31Speaker 1: Lion King. So Broadway. You know, they used to say, oh,
- 26:36Speaker 1: Broadway's dying, It's never going to die. It's going to
- 26:40Speaker 1: be here long after we're gone. We're going to die first.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Well that's good. To hear. Hey, what the hell is
- 26:46Speaker 3: Madonna doing? Why didn't she go away? How did we
- 26:48Speaker 3: get rid of this Donna?
- 26:50Speaker 1: Oh my god? She was in Times Square yesterday. Well,
- 26:54Speaker 1: she really wants to have a hit with her new album.
- 26:58Speaker 1: It's called Confessions on a Dance Floor Part Two, and
- 27:01Speaker 1: it's a disco album. She's really leaning on her gay audience.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Yesterday she threw like the biggest gay party in the
- 27:09Speaker 1: world in Times Square. She's up on the way up high,
- 27:14Speaker 1: you know, where the Times Square ball is, dancing away
- 27:17Speaker 1: in Silicon Silicon and you know she's lip syncing, and
- 27:23Speaker 1: she's sixty eight years old. You know, you have to
- 27:26Speaker 1: give her credit. She wants to stay relevant. Everybody wants
- 27:29Speaker 1: to stay relevant. Yeah, so's she's doing her best to
- 27:33Speaker 1: keep her hand in. But it seemed a little desperate
- 27:36Speaker 1: yesterday to be, you know, hanging off. She was hanging
- 27:40Speaker 1: off the side of the platform, and I don't know
- 27:44Speaker 1: what that was all about. Yeah, so, you know, she's.
- 27:47Speaker 3: You got to learn from from Frank Sinautter to Billy Joel.
- 27:50Speaker 3: When you get that old no more albums, no more
- 27:53Speaker 3: hit singles, it's over. You become a elder statesman and
- 27:57Speaker 3: you do these grand concerts all like Billy Joel, you
- 27:59Speaker 3: travel all the country doing these magnificent concerts. That's what
- 28:03Speaker 3: you do. Why didn't you just do that?
- 28:05Speaker 8: You know?
- 28:06Speaker 1: When we were kids. I don't know if you remember this,
- 28:09Speaker 1: there was a woman who did burlesque. Her name was
- 28:13Speaker 1: Anne Coreo, and she was quite She was probably about
- 28:17Speaker 1: that age when she was doing it. When I was twelve.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It seemed like she was one hundred and six, but
- 28:23Speaker 1: she was too old to be doing it. It was
- 28:24Speaker 1: kind of a joke. And that's what Madonna reminds me of.
- 28:28Speaker 1: You know, It's like she's going to keep doing this
- 28:31Speaker 1: in her seventies. We're going to be seeing her, you know,
- 28:35Speaker 1: in all kinds of strange costumes, trying to get a
- 28:38Speaker 1: disco out against the dance.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but okay, I heard that's going to work. And
- 28:42Speaker 3: Courrea was not a big hit on the Top Music State.
- 28:45Speaker 3: She was not on the Ed Sullivan She was on
- 28:47Speaker 3: like the end of the Mike Douglas Show. Maybe that
- 28:49Speaker 3: was it.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Well, Madonna wasn't on Ed Sullivan. But but meantime she's
- 28:57Speaker 1: got a deal with people like Taylor Swift. Now, Taylor Swift,
- 29:00Speaker 1: I have to release the single last night. It's the
- 29:02Speaker 1: song from Toy Story five and it's already number one
- 29:08Speaker 1: and people were going crazy trying to get copies of
- 29:12Speaker 1: it in the last few days. And it's huge. And
- 29:15Speaker 1: you know, she's thirty six and that's the appropriate age
- 29:18Speaker 1: for this. So that's what Madonna is facing, that kind
- 29:21Speaker 1: of competition Carpenter on her album.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Yeah. According to Forbes, Taylor Swift is now a billionaire,
- 29:29Speaker 3: making her one of the very few billionaires in the music.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Two billion, two billion, two billion, not just one billion,
- 29:35Speaker 1: two billion.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Excuse me, two billion. There you go, two billion.
- 29:38Speaker 1: That's why Travis he's going to throw his last ball
- 29:41Speaker 1: and go home and smoke cigars.
- 29:43Speaker 3: So this would put her ahead of McCartney and Oprah
- 29:46Speaker 3: in the billionaire show biz category performing.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I'm not surprised. Yeah, I'm not surprised. Yeah. No, well,
- 29:53Speaker 1: she's you know, think about it. First of all, she
- 29:56Speaker 1: has a marketing scheme that's amazing. But McCartney isn't doing
- 30:00Speaker 1: too badly. I have to say he has run a
- 30:02Speaker 1: perfect pr campaign all week. He's going to have the
- 30:06Speaker 1: number five album today. It's even doing better than last week.
- 30:11Speaker 1: But it's called The Boys of Dungeon Lane. It's an
- 30:13Speaker 1: excellent album, very very good. It's going to get Grammy
- 30:16Speaker 1: Awards and it's people are loving it, and so, I mean,
- 30:20Speaker 1: you have to give him credit. He's done a classy
- 30:22Speaker 1: job of coming back. That's what Madona should be looking at.
- 30:26Speaker 1: That's it's a classy job of coming back. You know,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you're not going to see Paul McCartney in Times Square
- 30:31Speaker 1: hanging off a platform.
- 30:33Speaker 3: It's a big difference between Paul McCartney and Madonna, not
- 30:36Speaker 3: the same league.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Tell her that, I'm telling her anything.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Hey, as a friend, Frankie Valley, who was also in
- 30:47Speaker 3: his nineties, now he canceled the rest of his tour.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Frankie took Frankie's done, which is appropriate at the
- 30:56Speaker 1: age of almost ninety two. He's got us up performing.
- 31:01Speaker 1: They had him out on the road and he was
- 31:05Speaker 1: singing to you know, tapes, the music was playing and
- 31:10Speaker 1: his mouth wasn't moving. He didn't even look like he
- 31:12Speaker 1: knew where he was. Now, I've seen Frankie socially at
- 31:16Speaker 1: dinners and that kind of thing over the last couple
- 31:18Speaker 1: of years, and he's looks very good, but he is
- 31:23Speaker 1: very you know old, and and now he's canceled the
- 31:28Speaker 1: rest of his shows for the rest of the year,
- 31:29Speaker 1: and that's good. He's not coming back after that, but
- 31:32Speaker 1: he should be happy. He's a gigantic star. What a
- 31:35Speaker 1: legacy Jersey Boys, right, He's got the musical will play
- 31:39Speaker 1: forever telling his story. The songs are played constantly. You know,
- 31:44Speaker 1: everyone knows Walk like a Man and Sherry and Ragdall
- 31:48Speaker 1: I mean and Greece. You know, come on, he's better
- 31:53Speaker 1: than Frecky Valley.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Also the mayor of Munchkinland. You're not a soprano, right, No,
- 31:58Speaker 3: you're not a sopranos fan.
- 32:00Speaker 1: You have to I am a sopranos fan, but I
- 32:02Speaker 1: don't remember that.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Remember when they wanted to kill him and they didn't.
- 32:05Speaker 3: You know, they're careful what they say on the phone.
- 32:07Speaker 3: He goes to the mayor of munchkin Land. What's going
- 32:09Speaker 3: on there? But he was listening.
- 32:15Speaker 1: He's had a great time, but he deserves to stay
- 32:17Speaker 1: home now and not have to you know, but they
- 32:20Speaker 1: love it. See, these performers love it. They love the adrenaline,
- 32:23Speaker 1: they love the adelation. You know, there's so much going on. Oh,
- 32:27Speaker 1: by the way, speaking of performers who were doing well
- 32:30Speaker 1: Sting starts his. I think it's nine performances of the
- 32:37Speaker 1: Last Ship at the Metropolitan Opera on Tuesday. There's still
- 32:40Speaker 1: a few tickets left. I looked online last night. But
- 32:43Speaker 1: it's a great show, you know, the Last Ship, and
- 32:46Speaker 1: you can still get in there. I think they have
- 32:48Speaker 1: seats up top for fifty dollars and of course a
- 32:51Speaker 1: little more expensive downstairs. But it's a Metropolitan Opera and
- 32:56Speaker 1: it's going to be terrific. I'll be there on Tuesday
- 32:59Speaker 1: night and it's gonna be it's gonna be a terrific week.
- 33:03Speaker 3: Very very good tip for everybody. Go get the Sting tickets. Yeah,
- 33:06Speaker 3: and to read showbiz forour one one dot com. There's
- 33:09Speaker 3: a lot more stuff up there Showbiz four one one
