- 0:00Speaker 1: Talk radio with street crack. Literally Curtis Lee wad joined
- 0:05Speaker 1: sevent ten WAR to guess ose for Mark Samo.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, as I continue on till January twod here for
- 0:19Speaker 2: Mark Simone. I appreciate the time at my newfound radio station,
- 0:24Speaker 2: but I've listened to over the years from time to time,
- 0:28Speaker 2: and now I listen to it all the time. I's
- 0:30Speaker 2: so should you At seven ten WAR. A lot of
- 0:33Speaker 2: alumni WABC here that dysfunctional family. Is he our board
- 0:38Speaker 2: operator here? He fled the dysfunction as did Crash in
- 0:41Speaker 2: the mornings with Larry MENTI as a real sabant from
- 0:44Speaker 2: Morris Park, the Bronx, and I know to some of
- 0:50Speaker 2: you it sounds like Nichael Corleone. I'm settling all scores.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I am little by little by little by little. But
- 0:58Speaker 2: you have a right to know, and you have a
- 1:01Speaker 2: right to be heard. So let's go first to Sean,
- 1:06Speaker 2: who's patiently on the line from Rockland County. Your turn
- 1:10Speaker 2: to be heard here at seven ten w O wat Shawn.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Welcome home, Curtis.
- 1:15Speaker 4: And those are the clowns at the other station.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I don't listen to them anymore.
- 1:19Speaker 2: They just fake guy. See you got in here thirty
- 1:23Speaker 2: five years. You can tell fake fake voice. I know
- 1:27Speaker 2: who that is. Come on, it's Curtis Sleeve pro style. Here.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Let's go to Bob, who's calling from MONTFL Your turn
- 1:39Speaker 2: to be heard here at WOR seven ten.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Bob, Thank you, Curtis, and welcome back to what it's
- 1:47Speaker 4: no longer woman only radio. Thank goodness. And I just
- 1:52Speaker 4: want to say thank you to you and your wife
- 1:54Speaker 4: because those of us who know your history and we
- 1:58Speaker 4: lived it, we saw through other people at the other station.
- 2:02Speaker 4: You know Greg Kelly, obviously he's got like an anger problem,
- 2:05Speaker 4: too much estrogen. And there's another guy talk about Rockland
- 2:09Speaker 4: County dominic, Carter. I wish you would send the angels
- 2:13Speaker 4: up to Rockland County, Curtis. It is out of control.
- 2:18Speaker 4: It is out of control, and he lives with his
- 2:20Speaker 4: head you know where. Well, Well, thank you, thank you,
- 2:24Speaker 4: thank you. Even though I live in New Jersey. Thank you, Curtis.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but all I need you to do is just
- 2:30Speaker 2: continue to listen to here seven ten w or or Bob.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You don't need to get Odjeda listening to all of them. Hey,
- 2:41Speaker 2: look in talk radio, you have a lot of eccentric characters.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I've certainly worked with them. I've certainly been called eccentric myself.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I've had my ups, my downs, but I think almost
- 2:51Speaker 2: all of them are well known to people. But sometimes
- 2:57Speaker 2: when you have an anger management issue, there are substances
- 3:03Speaker 2: out there that can keep that in check. Hey, look,
- 3:07Speaker 2: it's healthy, it's healthy. Let's go if we can to John,
- 3:13Speaker 2: who's calling from Staten Island. Your turn to be heard
- 3:16Speaker 2: here at seven to ten W John.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Hey, Curtis, I'm so happy to hear you back on
- 3:23Speaker 3: the radio. We've met a few times, so I'm so
- 3:27Speaker 3: happy to be talking to here. WABC is definitely a
- 3:32Speaker 3: dysfunctional family dominic. Carter shows up to work grumpy every
- 3:36Speaker 3: single day. Lionel screams into the microphone. Sid Rosenberg only
- 3:41Speaker 3: cares about himself to He's me me, Me Me Me,
- 3:44Speaker 3: I am grey uh and Greg Kelly. He takes calls
- 3:48Speaker 3: from wack o people who sent him books and they
- 3:52Speaker 3: wrote down a name to the wrong wrong people. Like
- 3:56Speaker 3: what kind of operation to they got going on over that?
- 4:00Speaker 2: It looks John, John, that's their thing. If you're not
- 4:04Speaker 2: happy with their broadcast, now you have a place to
- 4:07Speaker 2: come to. Maybe I was the sheepherder, and you were
- 4:12Speaker 2: sheep for many years and that's all you listen to. Well,
- 4:16Speaker 2: now you have an opportunity to come on over and
- 4:18Speaker 2: graze on this talk radio field. Maybe my substituting for
- 4:23Speaker 2: Mark Simon will encourage more people to do that. I
- 4:26Speaker 2: would suggest now that we're in the age of social networking,
- 4:31Speaker 2: text it out, email it out, phone it out, get
- 4:36Speaker 2: the word out. You don't have to listen to that
- 4:39Speaker 2: any longer. And more choices, And this is my choice.
- 4:43Speaker 2: So I know for many of you who followed me
- 4:45Speaker 2: in talk radio for what it will be thirty six
- 4:48Speaker 2: years in January, you're welcome on over. Listen to seven
- 4:52Speaker 2: to ten wor as much as is humanly possible. And remember,
- 4:58Speaker 2: unlike years years ago where it was live and local,
- 5:04Speaker 2: that's it. If you missed the broadcast, you couldn't recover it.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Remember the great Bob Grant, nobody better King of Tark
- 5:11Speaker 2: Radio would do his opening monologue. You could never recapture that.
- 5:16Speaker 2: The whole Tri state area would stop to listen to
- 5:19Speaker 2: that opening monologue at three. Now, if you missed the program,
- 5:25Speaker 2: you can catch it on podcasts. See that's something that
- 5:28Speaker 2: never occurred before. Let's go if we can to uh Vic, Well,
- 5:35Speaker 2: I believe he's calling from Pennsylvania. Your turn to be
- 5:39Speaker 2: heard here at seven to ten, w or Vic.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Great to hear you, Curtis, Curtis, I want to tell
- 5:45Speaker 5: you a quick story. You know, I used to listen
- 5:48Speaker 5: to Sid and if it wasn't for Bernie's he would
- 5:51Speaker 5: be nothing. But what a phoney.
- 5:54Speaker 3: The biggest phone he could be.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Well, they're all phonies there, but he seems to be
- 5:59Speaker 5: the biggest. Talk about ego, you know what I mean.
- 6:02Speaker 5: And at one point I called up when they were
- 6:06Speaker 5: taking calls, he stopped taking calls to let him know
- 6:10Speaker 5: he had bad now Trump and guess what he said,
- 6:12Speaker 5: Oh that's not true. I never bad. No Trump a
- 6:16Speaker 5: big liar. But man, could you imagine being in a
- 6:19Speaker 5: foxhol with any of these guys. I can't imagine it.
- 6:22Speaker 2: No, no, no, I tell you. I tell you one
- 6:25Speaker 2: thing straight up. It was a much better show when
- 6:29Speaker 2: Bernard McGirk was with him, because it was ike, the
- 6:32Speaker 2: ying and the yang. Because when it's just said, it's I, I,
- 6:35Speaker 2: me and me, it's all about said. Look. I think
- 6:37Speaker 2: he said this himself many times. He has low self esteem.
- 6:41Speaker 2: He's paranoid, rotic. Look a lot of people in talker
- 6:45Speaker 2: ideo that's the case. But Bernard was the ying to
- 6:49Speaker 2: his yang. Bernard was given an opportunity to do a
- 6:54Speaker 2: program at WABC when I miss clearly was in his
- 6:59Speaker 2: latter years. Without Bernard McGirk, Imus could not function. I
- 7:04Speaker 2: was in the broadcast studio. I saw how Bernie would
- 7:09Speaker 2: feed him lines. Bernie read the books, wasn't Imus, And
- 7:13Speaker 2: towards the end of Imus's career, it was so obvious,
- 7:17Speaker 2: but it was Bernard mcgirk's wish to have his own show.
- 7:20Speaker 2: You know, Imus didn't want that. Oh no, oh no,
- 7:25Speaker 2: the show following Imus in the morning. Bernard McGirk said,
- 7:30Speaker 2: it should be my opportunity. And he was right after
- 7:33Speaker 2: all those years, and he said, if you can only
- 7:36Speaker 2: bring Sid Rosenberg up from Florida. He had just been
- 7:39Speaker 2: fired I think for like the third or fourth time.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Not they's wrong with that. That's how you know how
- 7:43Speaker 2: long you've been in talk radio, how many times you've
- 7:45Speaker 2: been fired. But he was not on the radio. Bernie said,
- 7:51Speaker 2: I want Sid to be with me. And I remember
- 7:55Speaker 2: going down Hollywood, Florida at the hard Rock We had
- 7:59Speaker 2: a Guardian into conference of the Floridian Guardian Angels, and
- 8:02Speaker 2: I told the general manager there I would go down
- 8:07Speaker 2: and just do a little background check on city. It
- 8:10Speaker 2: had some problems, and I talked to a lot of
- 8:13Speaker 2: people down there. They said, oh, no, no, no. His
- 8:15Speaker 2: days of gallimantin cavorting getting into trouble, which he's admitted,
- 8:20Speaker 2: is over. He's on the straight and arrow. I came back,
- 8:24Speaker 2: I gave the report. I remember walking into the office
- 8:26Speaker 2: of Chad Lopez. He had on his desk a contract
- 8:30Speaker 2: to hire Mike Lupeka, the great sports writer for the
- 8:35Speaker 2: Daily News, but horrible on the radio ESPN. You know,
- 8:38Speaker 2: just it's not his medium. I said, you can't do that,
- 8:42Speaker 2: you can't sign that. That'll destroy WABC. I said, come on,
- 8:47Speaker 2: do this for Bernard McGirk. He's never asked for anything
- 8:50Speaker 2: other than that, And that's what happened. They got that opportunity,
- 8:57Speaker 2: uh mid Morning and then eventually the Morning Show. And
- 9:01Speaker 2: it's unfortunate that Bernard McGirk is no longer with us
- 9:05Speaker 2: because that was the ying to Sid Yang, that was
- 9:10Speaker 2: his wingman. Sid was Bernard's wingman, and Bernard was certainly
- 9:20Speaker 2: sid Rosenberg's wingman in Godfather reference. When you talk about
- 9:25Speaker 2: Sid Rosenberg, think of Tessio.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Oh, yeah,
