- 0:08Speaker 1: But I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. But you're a guest to my home. You
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty, And I said.
- 0:26Speaker 2: No, guests.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Your presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff.
- 0:35Speaker 1: So how do you dance?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Surbey me?
- 0:49Speaker 3: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm Richard Wineger. We're
- 0:54Speaker 3: here in the studio. I made it here safely. I
- 0:57Speaker 3: did a little dancing in the car. I'm in layers.
- 1:01Speaker 3: It's a great way to wear two shirts. What's going on?
- 1:05Speaker 3: I had another electrifying weekend. That's about all I can
- 1:10Speaker 3: say about that. I had a real conflict this morning.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I almost wore the podcast t shirt, just because I
- 1:15Speaker 3: love it so much. But I feel like, I think
- 1:18Speaker 3: we all know that's extremely tacky, and I don't know
- 1:20Speaker 3: what to do. Could I wear the shirt if I
- 1:23Speaker 3: just scratched out the name of the podcast? You know,
- 1:26Speaker 3: so it's just the graphic. I don't know, But don't
- 1:30Speaker 3: reach out. I'll figure out. I'll go on that journey
- 1:32Speaker 3: on my own. What happened over the weekend. I saw Hamnet,
- 1:37Speaker 3: which is you know, it's beautiful. The big revelation for
- 1:40Speaker 3: me is that Shakespeare was married to a heckler. I
- 1:45Speaker 3: don't know what to say. I imagine they had a
- 1:46Speaker 3: hard time going to comedy shows together. Didn't go to
- 1:49Speaker 3: the Little House on the Prairie. They had some sort
- 1:53Speaker 3: of meetup or show reunion somewhere in Santa Clarita, and
- 1:59Speaker 3: all of the VIP tickets were sold out. They were
- 2:03Speaker 3: also six hundred dollars, which made me think, there are
- 2:07Speaker 3: people with bigger problems than me. But maybe one year,
- 2:10Speaker 3: maybe we could do a gofund me to get me
- 2:12Speaker 3: to go to the Little House on the Prairie reunion.
- 2:15Speaker 3: We did watch an episode of Little House on the Prairie,
- 2:18Speaker 3: the most recent one we watched. The basic story was
- 2:23Speaker 3: a morphine addict came through town and taught Mary how
- 2:26Speaker 3: to play a little piano. That was a good one.
- 2:30Speaker 3: We had to skip the one with the centennial picnic.
- 2:32Speaker 3: That's the most boring episode of television ever made. Okay,
- 2:37Speaker 3: is there anything else I need to talk about? No,
- 2:39Speaker 3: I don't think so. We're here changing your life, rocking
- 2:42Speaker 3: your world. That's what the point of this podcast is.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Let's get into it. Today's guest is just absolutely fantastic.
- 2:49Speaker 3: It's Jessica McKenna, Jessica, welcome to Issaid No kids.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Wow, Hi, thank you.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Oh, I'm so happy to have you here in your
- 2:57Speaker 3: kind of representing your favorite corporation in this Disney T shirt.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Everyone has to pick one and you know, uh, and
- 3:04Speaker 2: there are two. There's two, and they're both bad, but
- 3:08Speaker 2: this one has fun rides.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I yes, yeah, I think that's a good way to
- 3:13Speaker 3: pick a corporation. Which one will let you go on
- 3:15Speaker 3: a rind? Which one has a haunted mansion.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Who has fireworks? You know? Who has a duck with
- 3:21Speaker 2: no pants?
- 3:22Speaker 3: Right? And very few of them, very.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Few of the two. And so I picked my side. No,
- 3:26Speaker 2: I apologize, I'm really time stamping. You're as No.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I like this. We're recording mid December. This will come
- 3:32Speaker 3: out mid January, and now people's people are going, oh.
- 3:36Speaker 2: God, I put the Holidays behind me.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Life was so different then. How am I supposed to
- 3:40Speaker 3: relate to this episode? But I love that it's got
- 3:44Speaker 3: Donald Mickey and Minnie and Daisy. Yeah yeah, oh and goofy.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Let's see things.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I know, right, it's uh and I tried to figure
- 3:52Speaker 2: this out. Oh gosh, I we're just talking about switching
- 3:56Speaker 2: to a visual medium in podcasts. But when I first
- 3:59Speaker 2: got it, I was like, what is the pattern? And
- 4:01Speaker 2: then this is interesting, Right, I'm wearing a shirt if
- 4:05Speaker 2: you're just listening, I'm wearing a shirt that has squares
- 4:07Speaker 2: with the main Disney characters and it's holiday. They're all
- 4:09Speaker 2: in Santa hats and there's a snow quality about it.
- 4:12Speaker 2: But the pattern actually goes vertical, not horizontal.
- 4:15Speaker 3: That's why I write it was so confusing. It's confusing, baffling.
- 4:19Speaker 3: It's almost like reading English versus reading Chinese right exactly right,
- 4:24Speaker 3: up and down right.
- 4:25Speaker 2: So once I saw that, I thought, oh, now it
- 4:27Speaker 2: makes sense. One line I would say is the main
- 4:30Speaker 2: three of Mickey Donald goofy. And then we got Daisy
- 4:35Speaker 2: Mini Pluto.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Okay, so that makes me think is Pluto a woman?
- 4:40Speaker 2: Right?
- 4:41Speaker 3: I don't think we ever got to the bottom of that.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Pluto full of mysteries.
- 4:44Speaker 3: In general, that's the one animal that doesn't talk right.
- 4:47Speaker 2: But is also a dog, right, and is the size
- 4:51Speaker 2: that a mouse can own them.
- 4:53Speaker 3: But there's a lot going on, a lot going on.
- 4:58Speaker 3: That poor creature a servant to the rest of these
- 5:01Speaker 3: evil animals.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Much like the corporation, we have to pick and Pluto
- 5:06Speaker 2: has picked. He thought, Now, do I love a mouse
- 5:09Speaker 2: having dominion over me? No? But what are the alternatives?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Does he belong to Mickey? Yeah, okay, yeah he does.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Does they need to? They've got to figure out what's
- 5:19Speaker 3: happening in the world of Mickey Mouse. I think, like
- 5:21Speaker 3: I feel like the world is too chaotic. It's anarchy.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You know, it'd be great. We had this happen last
- 5:27Speaker 2: year when the Steamboat Willie cartoon hit one hundred years
- 5:30Speaker 2: So now it's public domain. Oh right, right, we should agree,
- 5:33Speaker 2: you and I together right now that when Pluto becomes
- 5:37Speaker 2: public domain, we write his originc figure it out for
- 5:40Speaker 2: cure you.
- 5:40Speaker 3: No.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think it's corporate espionage. I think he
- 5:43Speaker 2: works for Paramount.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why he's been so quiet. Yeah, he's kind
- 5:48Speaker 3: of a slug worth of the Willy Wonka world. Interesting?
- 5:52Speaker 3: Are you a Do you go to Disneyland often?
- 5:54Speaker 2: I do? I grew up. I'm an Orange County kid,
- 5:57Speaker 2: So I we did, like hear the fireworks from my backyard?
- 5:59Speaker 3: Oh god, were you calling and reporting it all.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Before or after the parade? I can't get the timing right.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Uh No, I really do love it. Rachel Bloom wrote
- 6:11Speaker 2: a memoir like a collection of stories. She has a
- 6:14Speaker 2: story about loving Disney. She's also a SOCU kid, and
- 6:17Speaker 2: she has a line that really resonated with me more
- 6:19Speaker 2: than any other poetry or piece of religious thought or
- 6:22Speaker 2: anything I've ever read in my life, where she said,
- 6:24Speaker 2: the right amount of loving Disney is the amount that
- 6:28Speaker 2: I love it.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Oh wow, that.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Anymore is insane and detached from reality and like grow
- 6:34Speaker 2: up and anything less is cynical. And I was like,
- 6:37Speaker 2: Rachel and I have a lot in comment, but I
- 6:38Speaker 2: was like, this might be the most significant thing we
- 6:40Speaker 2: haven't got got a connection.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I know, how often are you going to Disneyland?
- 6:44Speaker 2: When I grew up on the and the passes were
- 6:46Speaker 2: like more affordable, we would go a lot, Like I
- 6:47Speaker 2: would do a thing where I would get like dropped off,
- 6:49Speaker 2: like it was my mall.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Oh wow, yeah that makes sense.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It was cool, like you'd go on like one ride,
- 6:53Speaker 2: get a dinner, and like someone else's parents would pick
- 6:55Speaker 2: you up. Right now, I probably go twice a year.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Twice year.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I take like my nisse and nephews in the summer
- 7:01Speaker 2: usually and then probably have like one other time where
- 7:04Speaker 2: I go with like there'll be some other occasion.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Right, so you're not like an annual pass holder. How
- 7:10Speaker 3: much does that cost? That must be nine thousands to.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Get rid of it for a little bit, So I
- 7:14Speaker 2: don't know, but I just went this shirt is actually
- 7:16Speaker 2: from World. Oh my god, I don't often. I've only
- 7:20Speaker 2: been like twice because why go there when you grow
- 7:23Speaker 2: up by land? And I actually was like, I do
- 7:26Speaker 2: kind of want merch here because I also love holiday merch.
- 7:29Speaker 2: But I ended up refusing to get anything that said
- 7:31Speaker 2: World because it felt like it was confusing, confusing for
- 7:34Speaker 2: my personal brand.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it raises too many questions and suddenly people are
- 7:38Speaker 3: asking you all the time.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Like why were you there? That's not where you live.
- 7:44Speaker 3: People get very violent serious about that type of thing.
- 7:47Speaker 3: You wouldn't have been able to leave the house.
- 7:48Speaker 2: No, And I just can't handle that right now.
- 7:50Speaker 3: You have enough problem.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I can't be taking that on. I have to buy
- 7:54Speaker 2: up all the VIP tickets for a little house in
- 7:56Speaker 2: the fray.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Oh god, that was disappointing to see. I don't know
- 8:02Speaker 3: if it was disappointing for me or just disappointing to
- 8:04Speaker 3: see people paying that much money for a VIP that's tough.
- 8:07Speaker 3: A lot of the cast is gone, so what are
- 8:10Speaker 3: you paying for? It's tough. And the whole I don't
- 8:14Speaker 3: know if you're aware of this, but they blew up
- 8:16Speaker 3: the whole set of Little House on the Prairie.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Oh that's devastating.
- 8:19Speaker 3: So you're not even getting to see the set. You're
- 8:20Speaker 3: just driving to Santa Clarita for no reason.
- 8:23Speaker 2: That's ridiculous.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess how many reasons are there to drive
- 8:27Speaker 3: to Santa Clarita, right, My apologies to Santa Clarita. But
- 8:31Speaker 3: I think one of.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Us Red Lobsters?
- 8:33Speaker 3: Is that true?
- 8:34Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 8:34Speaker 3: Oh, have you been to it?
- 8:35Speaker 2: Uh?
- 8:36Speaker 3: Huh? Are you a big Red Lobster fan? Yeah, I've
- 8:40Speaker 3: never been to Red Lobster. Where'd you grow up in Utah?
- 8:43Speaker 2: Did you have them at all?
- 8:44Speaker 3: There were? I think there was like one, Yeah, And
- 8:47Speaker 3: for whatever reason, we just never got to go to
- 8:49Speaker 3: Red Lobster.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It was the It was both my sister and I's
- 8:52Speaker 2: pick for birthday dinner. No, we felt very fancy.
- 8:55Speaker 3: That feels like a very birthday dinner type place.
- 8:57Speaker 2: We'd get like crab legs for the table, which, oh,
- 9:00Speaker 2: sort of scad. Oh that's like you're an eight year
- 9:03Speaker 2: old trying to get gout. You know, you're you feel
- 9:05Speaker 2: very regal. And then and then I would always get
- 9:07Speaker 2: popcorn trip, which is just a chicken tender. You know,
- 9:10Speaker 2: it's just a chicken nugget.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's probably I guess it's the fancy
- 9:14Speaker 3: chicken nuggets. I've never really thought about.
- 9:16Speaker 2: It, and that I think is a perfect window into
- 9:18Speaker 2: my nine year old self, which is like, huh, have
- 9:21Speaker 2: you met me? I have quite an advanced palate for
- 9:24Speaker 2: my age, But I would like it to be deep
- 9:25Speaker 2: fried and I'm gonna dunk it.
- 9:27Speaker 3: And ketchup and they have the biscuits that everyone goes
- 9:30Speaker 3: crazy for. Yes, I feel like that the biscuit will
- 9:34Speaker 3: never happen for me. How could it?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Oh? I want it to, though I don't know if that.
- 9:39Speaker 3: You know, I feel like, if you like grew up
- 9:41Speaker 3: eating them, it's probably like the taste is built in
- 9:44Speaker 3: for you. But I think approaching that as an adult
- 9:46Speaker 3: might be difficult.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Ches biscuits.
- 9:50Speaker 2: They're quite they're quite objectively good.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I think what would you compare it to?
- 9:57Speaker 2: Let's see, are you a scone person at all? Like
- 9:59Speaker 2: I do like a because it has almost more. I
- 10:02Speaker 2: would stay closer to like when you get a really
- 10:04Speaker 2: good cheddar and chrive scone, okay, versus like a country
- 10:09Speaker 2: biscuit that you're covering in gravy. Right, it has like
- 10:11Speaker 2: a thicker.
- 10:12Speaker 3: You will be choking.
- 10:14Speaker 2: It's dense, but it's got like a nice salty melt
- 10:17Speaker 2: point right because it's still a ton of butter. And
- 10:20Speaker 2: I don't know if they still do this, but they
- 10:21Speaker 2: used to sell like at home kits where you could
- 10:24Speaker 2: make them.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Oh did you ever try that?
- 10:26Speaker 2: My mom did and they it felt accurate, So that
- 10:29Speaker 2: was your journey.
- 10:30Speaker 3: That feels bad for the company. Maybe that's why they're
- 10:32Speaker 3: in such financial trouble. They gave away the one thing
- 10:34Speaker 3: that everyone yes went there for.
- 10:36Speaker 2: And they were letting us have way too much shrimp.
- 10:39Speaker 3: That's right. That was like a real thing.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah. My husband several times went with like trying to
- 10:45Speaker 2: join the centennial club, which is having more than one
- 10:47Speaker 2: hundred shrimp.
- 10:48Speaker 3: At a time. Yeah, putting one hundred shrimp in your stomach.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, he succeeded multiple times. But you have to pick
- 10:55Speaker 2: them just that way. I mean, I've stopped trying to
- 10:59Speaker 2: mask that math.
- 11:00Speaker 3: You know, were they like regular sized shrimp.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Sometimes they're small or you know, he'd like you can
- 11:04Speaker 2: pick the preparation, so he'd be doing like scampy or chill,
- 11:09Speaker 2: like just like cocktail shrimp. I don't know, but it's
- 11:12Speaker 2: still one hundred srimp.
- 11:13Speaker 3: That still must be like five pounds of food at least. Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 2: And also that's really an awareness of like that's one
- 11:19Speaker 2: hundred individual animals.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, which is that's an entire population.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a village.
- 11:25Speaker 3: So and that was like an endless shrimp thing.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and that they did that. It was like a
- 11:30Speaker 2: promotion they would do for like one weekend and then
- 11:32Speaker 2: it was popular, say let it grow, and that's financial
- 11:35Speaker 2: ruin right then. I think there are a few years
- 11:37Speaker 2: where you could always get endless shrimp or something.
- 11:39Speaker 3: So the company was self sabotage in the way they
- 11:42Speaker 3: had hit the self destruct button and said let's just tank.
- 11:46Speaker 2: You know, and not to time sampus again. But it
- 11:47Speaker 2: should be like Christmas. That's what keeps it special.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Oh right, I mean that's well, as a business owner,
- 11:52Speaker 3: you think, well, if we're giving away too much of
- 11:54Speaker 3: a thing, maybe we should only do that for a
- 11:56Speaker 3: short period. Yeah, that's how business.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Works, and then people will be so excited they'll make
- 12:00Speaker 2: it an annual trip.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Rather than well, we can get that anytime, right.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And now I'm never going to go because it's.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Special, granted, not knowing that we have a limited time
- 12:09Speaker 3: with the ones we love. That's right, that kind of
- 12:11Speaker 3: that's right now. They're probably by the time this comes out,
- 12:13Speaker 3: they may be fully out of business. I don't know.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I don't know either.
- 12:17Speaker 3: The last headline I saw it was they've been ruined
- 12:19Speaker 3: by endless Shrimp.
- 12:20Speaker 2: But I think they're in a rebrand where they are
- 12:23Speaker 2: pivoting towards that style of shrimp eating that's more like
- 12:26Speaker 2: a low country boil or like louisyan or you can
- 12:30Speaker 2: get like the bag of shrimp.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Have you ever done one of those across the table?
- 12:34Speaker 3: It's a sloppy mess. Yeah, So they're gonna have to
- 12:36Speaker 3: kind of redesign the restaurant, and I.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Think they've reduced their menu, which any anyone who's watched
- 12:41Speaker 2: you know, kitchen.
- 12:43Speaker 3: What restaurant impossible? One knows kitchen.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Hell, if the menu is too large, you're doomed. Right,
- 12:48Speaker 2: Although Cheeseak Factory is here thumbing, they've.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Really kind of said no that's not.
- 12:53Speaker 2: True, not true. For us, we are the exception that
- 12:55Speaker 2: proves the rule.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Novella. Yes, yeah, that's a one place that that kind
- 13:01Speaker 3: of has worked for whatever reason, I don't. And then
- 13:04Speaker 3: every other place, if you see more than fifty items
- 13:07Speaker 3: on a menu, you're saying, I gotta get.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Out of call Robert irvmine and I gotta get out
- 13:13Speaker 2: of here.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Robert Irvine I've had I've talked about him on the
- 13:16Speaker 3: show before because he has a new protein bar. How
- 13:19Speaker 3: is this revolting? Oh, they're discussed hair bars. They're my
- 13:25Speaker 3: boyfriend bought some at Costco. He overbought, and now they're
- 13:29Speaker 3: just sitting in our cupboard waiting for the next pandemic.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Terrible and I hate the thing so much. Too sweet.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I can't have.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Something that sweet in the morning. It's a real sugar
- 13:39Speaker 3: alcohol tasting bar. But they should have got He should
- 13:42Speaker 3: start going to giant corporations to rescue them rather than
- 13:45Speaker 3: these small businesses that he's picking on.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Right, it would be great to watch him save red Lobster.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Oh my god, I would watch that as a mini series.
- 13:53Speaker 3: You know, Wow, that could be a good limited series.
- 13:56Speaker 3: That's who lose next, Big Fat checked Red Lobster, right,
- 14:00Speaker 3: And that's also they have a kind of a at
- 14:02Speaker 3: least the name isn't like one of these things where
- 14:04Speaker 3: that you know, I've been complaining about Hampton and trying
- 14:06Speaker 3: to run from their name. Recently they've rebranded as Hampton
- 14:10Speaker 3: Get out of here. You can't rebrand as Lobster. No,
- 14:13Speaker 3: that becomes confused. Yeah, and Red doesn't tell you enough,
- 14:18Speaker 3: so then it's like, yeah, you'd have to do maybe
- 14:20Speaker 3: add a word red Lobster Express.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Right. Oh my gosh, can you imagine having like a
- 14:26Speaker 2: mini biscuit and shrimp before you got on a plane
- 14:28Speaker 2: like at Chili's too.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Just a plane full of extremely sick people speaking of
- 14:38Speaker 3: business renovations. And this is something else that people want
- 14:41Speaker 3: to want me to stop talking about, is have you
- 14:42Speaker 3: ever heard of Tabitha's Takeover? Get into this show?
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yes, remind the name is immediately because Tabitha is such
- 14:50Speaker 2: a unique name. Did you watch ever watch Passions? Oh?
- 14:54Speaker 3: I love whatever this is?
- 14:55Speaker 2: No, it was it was a soap opera like when
- 14:58Speaker 2: we were children, like lived shorter.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Lived okay, I mean compared to like a soap opera
- 15:03Speaker 3: that goes ninety.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Years exactly exactly. I believe there was a witch named
- 15:08Speaker 2: Tabitha on it or something.
- 15:10Speaker 3: It was.
- 15:10Speaker 2: It was wild. It would be the kind of thing
- 15:11Speaker 2: where you like were watching your Saturday Morning like or
- 15:14Speaker 2: you're like Tuesday morning Summer brainless TeV before you like
- 15:18Speaker 2: had to go to pool camp or something, and sometimes
- 15:25Speaker 2: you'd get all the way through the run up where
- 15:26Speaker 2: you'd get to like, now the only thing now I'm
- 15:28Speaker 2: into soap opera.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Right Anyway, Tabitha was soap operas have a witch.
- 15:34Speaker 2: That's what made Passions.
- 15:35Speaker 3: So that's what made it such a failure. Failure, but Passions, Oh,
- 15:42Speaker 3: Tabitha Takeover is not a soap opera. Yeah, it mean
- 15:46Speaker 3: kind of the dramas.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Is it like a TLC Ish program?
- 15:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it was on Bravo. It's this Australian woman and
- 15:52Speaker 3: she says, I'm tough, I'm talented, I'm taking over.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Was it Salons?
- 15:56Speaker 3: Initially it was Salons Tabitha's Salon Takeover that was the
- 16:00Speaker 3: successful series or relatively sure. Then she moved into Tabitha's
- 16:04Speaker 3: Takeover and you know, I just watched one where she
- 16:07Speaker 3: takes over a yogurt shop and it was just simply
- 16:09Speaker 3: not as compelling. Yeah, you want to watch her yelling
- 16:11Speaker 3: at hairdressers.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I can picture her hair now.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's a very two thousand and eight like blondelde,
- 16:21Speaker 3: not spiky, kind of a dramatic bang. Yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 16:25Speaker 3: it's just a phenomenal show and I just love watching it.
- 16:28Speaker 3: But where did she go? Oh? I know what she did?
- 16:32Speaker 3: She started. She's now kind of a self help guru.
- 16:34Speaker 3: She has something called bitch Camp, which she teaches.
- 16:37Speaker 2: How to go after pool camp. Does she want us
- 16:41Speaker 2: to be more or less bitch? That's what I need
- 16:43Speaker 2: to know.
- 16:44Speaker 3: She wants you to be more. She wants you to
- 16:46Speaker 3: be much much more. And I hope that she's doing. Okay,
- 16:49Speaker 3: I think maybe I should reboot the show. I'm sure
- 16:51Speaker 3: there are plenty of salons that still need help.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Also, just your takeover of Tabitha's takeover.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Oh interesting, Tabitha has taken over. This is the new
- 17:00Speaker 3: category of reality shows. Somebody who comes in and revamps
- 17:03Speaker 3: failed reality.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Shows, like someone should have been able to come. I mean,
- 17:07Speaker 2: we'll see how it goes. But with like vander Pump
- 17:09Speaker 2: and them, or like they can't get a new rony
- 17:11Speaker 2: cast figured out, Like someone gets to come in and
- 17:14Speaker 2: be like the Robert Irvine of like the menu's too many.
- 17:17Speaker 2: It's too many, friend of I don't care about. Right,
- 17:19Speaker 2: You need to start with some relationships that are real
- 17:22Speaker 2: and build out from there. Everyone can't be purely cast.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Some of this has to be organic.
- 17:26Speaker 3: We know we no no longer know what they're fighting about.
- 17:28Speaker 3: This is a fight about a fight about a fight
- 17:29Speaker 3: about a fight. Yes, it could be kind of Project
- 17:32Speaker 3: green Light meets Tabitha's Takeover and we just go into
- 17:36Speaker 3: Bravo et cetera TLC.
- 17:38Speaker 2: And one of the biggest notes that I would give
- 17:39Speaker 2: the Bravo shows is you are not allowed to have
- 17:43Speaker 2: drama from outside blog podcast sources.
- 17:48Speaker 3: What about do you watch Salt Lake City?
- 17:50Speaker 2: Of course?
- 17:50Speaker 3: Yeah, what about like the TikTok or tweet because there's
- 17:54Speaker 3: been some explosive drama about the tiktoks and tweets.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Well really just Merediths reaction to the TikTok that then,
- 18:00Speaker 2: are we going to see footage from this plane.
- 18:03Speaker 3: The pl where Todd was looking at the other gal
- 18:05Speaker 3: on his iPad? How did I forget that's all they're
- 18:09Speaker 3: talking about.
- 18:10Speaker 2: It's crazy or at least that actually how was there.
- 18:13Speaker 3: No, you bring up such a good point. There should
- 18:16Speaker 3: there's footage of everything else that's ever happened on a
- 18:18Speaker 3: plane since twenty ten. Yes, how was that not filmed
- 18:22Speaker 3: by somebody on that plane? Brittany not filming it?
- 18:25Speaker 2: So true? Well, apparently she was crying into her hair.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Her hair was wet with tears. Here's evidence that we
- 18:31Speaker 2: have sopping West sopping wet with tears.
- 18:35Speaker 3: She had to towel off after this flush.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Here's the person sorry to just arail into Salt Lake
- 18:39Speaker 2: City for a second.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Don't apologize, but I mean the.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Person that I do trust in that situation is Mary,
- 18:45Speaker 2: cause because she has no reason to lie or fabricate,
- 18:50Speaker 2: you know, like I understand why Meredith would downplay and
- 18:52Speaker 2: why Lisa has chosen to stick with Meredith to downplay.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Heather was a sleep for some of it, so she's
- 18:57Speaker 2: an unreliable nearby. Plus she's like always in the pocket
- 19:00Speaker 2: of moving story right right, Whitney will fall in line
- 19:04Speaker 2: with whatever happens there. Britney sobbed to tears into her hair.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Angie is like riding high but doesn't really need the drama,
- 19:12Speaker 2: only wants us to love grease. Mary has no reason
- 19:16Speaker 2: to lie. So the fact that she has said, Meredith,
- 19:19Speaker 2: it was out of hand, and why won't you just
- 19:21Speaker 2: admit it was out of hand and we can move forward.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I'm like, it was out of hand, like it was.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Mary to me is the like the ding in the
- 19:28Speaker 2: scales that makes me go it was.
- 19:30Speaker 3: This is the thing about Mary Cosby is she has
- 19:34Speaker 3: been brought into the show and she does not care
- 19:36Speaker 3: about being involved in the show. Yes, so it's like
- 19:38Speaker 3: she's she's essentially the one normal person.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Yes, I mean, she couldn't be further from normal. But
- 19:44Speaker 2: she is objective because she doesn't.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Care, because she refuses to listen to producer.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yes, and she's not interested in machinations or like let's
- 19:51Speaker 2: build a storyline or can you help move this forward?
- 19:54Speaker 3: She's just like no, yeah, she like often i'll watch her,
- 19:57Speaker 3: it's like she's not even aware that it's a reality.
- 20:00Speaker 3: She'll be like, she's not. She's like, why are they
- 20:02Speaker 3: fighting with each other? Why are you fighting with each other?
- 20:04Speaker 3: You should apologize? But she's thinking of them as human
- 20:07Speaker 3: beings rather than character Right, it's so fascinating. That's such
- 20:10Speaker 3: a good point. But who how small was this plane
- 20:13Speaker 3: that no one was filming it. There was a simply
- 20:15Speaker 3: there was a gay flight.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Attendant, and I'm thinking, are they holding it to the reunion?
- 20:20Speaker 3: Oh? Interesting? But what oh yeah, that's a great How
- 20:26Speaker 3: did it not.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Leak unless they bought out the footage? And they're like,
- 20:30Speaker 2: this is part of the rule is we will pay
- 20:32Speaker 2: you this amount of money for the footage, but if
- 20:35Speaker 2: it leaks, we you only get it if we make
- 20:37Speaker 2: it to the reunion with it being sealed.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Right, Andy Cohen kills you Yeah, wow, I bet everyone
- 20:42Speaker 3: on the plane had to sign an NDA well.
- 20:45Speaker 2: And also the production must have bought out first class entirely.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Oh interesting, And then you have that little curtain.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Here's my question. We frequently see them on these planes
- 20:53Speaker 3: and it's like, oh, they're not even in business class.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it seems like what was this flight coming home from?
- 21:00Speaker 2: It was like, oh, from the from the island, the
- 21:03Speaker 2: Lillys Playground or whatever. The frink like it looked like
- 21:06Speaker 2: a sette to go on the yacht okay, right, And
- 21:09Speaker 2: it was like and this is an SLC recap podcast, right,
- 21:12Speaker 2: but you recap episodes from six weeks ago.
- 21:15Speaker 3: That you're basically describing. My patreon, I do talk about
- 21:21Speaker 3: this thing constantly. I mean, what I'm going I'm going
- 21:25Speaker 3: to Utah for for Christmas, and I'm going to I'm
- 21:28Speaker 3: going to visit Uh. Something I've learned recently is the
- 21:30Speaker 3: angiut sort of a Nepo baby. Her father owns this
- 21:34Speaker 3: chain of Utah famous Utah hamburger restaurants called Crown Burger.
- 21:38Speaker 3: So I'll probably make a stop there. I'm going to
- 21:40Speaker 3: go to Mary's Church beauty. Oh, I mean, I go
- 21:43Speaker 3: there every single time I'm there. I've been there. The
- 21:47Speaker 3: only time I haven't been there was my most recent
- 21:49Speaker 3: time because I went to jay Z Styles, which is
- 21:52Speaker 3: from the other show, Yeah, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
- 21:55Speaker 3: And I can't go to two different beauty places in
- 21:57Speaker 3: one trick.
- 21:57Speaker 2: And will you be cruising around with a dirty soda?
- 22:00Speaker 3: You know what? I try. I've been to Swig twice
- 22:03Speaker 3: and I regret it every time.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I just can't imagine drinking doctor pepper with coffee meat
- 22:08Speaker 2: in it. I just can't imagine.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Well, you can't imagine until you are, I know, and
- 22:13Speaker 3: then everything changes.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Now.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I didn't do that. I tried. I've tried other ones
- 22:17Speaker 3: that don't have I'm not going to try the cream
- 22:19Speaker 3: in a in the Doctor Pepper. But every time I go,
- 22:23Speaker 3: I'm like, well, I'll try the more controlled option and
- 22:25Speaker 3: it's still disgusting, revolting drink. But it's extremely popular. They're
- 22:32Speaker 3: on every corner there. Wow, And so maybe I'll try again.
- 22:35Speaker 3: I don't know. My boyfriend hasn't been there yet, so
- 22:38Speaker 3: maybe we'll go through swig once.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, you got you gotta do it.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Have you been to your towel?
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yes?
- 22:45Speaker 3: Okay, have you win?
- 22:47Speaker 2: I've been a bunch of times. Like I've not done
- 22:50Speaker 2: a lot of like Salt Lake City like city time,
- 22:53Speaker 2: Like we went on a ski trip there growing up,
- 22:56Speaker 2: and then I've gone to like the National Park.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Since Okay, so nothing really since the shows have become famous. No, okay, yeah,
- 23:05Speaker 3: so now that that don't have to be a whole tour,
- 23:07Speaker 3: I don't.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Have to be a whole trip.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder how.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Much longer Salt Lake City Housewives will last.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I feel like SLC is the crown jewel.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Right, yes, but it's like, how long does something like
- 23:17Speaker 3: this go?
- 23:18Speaker 2: Has like two more good seasons?
- 23:20Speaker 3: Well that's rough to hear two.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe not. It's just like eventually people tire.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I always say, bring Monica and Linda back. Oh,
- 23:30Speaker 3: and then you've got I mean that will revive the
- 23:32Speaker 3: show for five seasons. Yeah, true, but I think they
- 23:34Speaker 3: will also.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Do you think we'll ever just merge ourt?
- 23:38Speaker 3: Oh, at some point one of the Secret Lives gals
- 23:42Speaker 3: is going to come over. Wow, it'll probably be Whitney Levitt. Yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 3: she's done with I mean, she is soaring.
- 23:47Speaker 2: I loved her honesty of like, I am here because
- 23:51Speaker 2: I can be on Dancing with the Stars. I was like, God,
- 23:53Speaker 2: bless it. This is a type of character I've never
- 23:55Speaker 2: seen on reality TV.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I am using all of you, and I'm open about it.
- 24:00Speaker 3: But this is a sisterhood, and I do.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Wish we could be friendlier, but I'm not that worried
- 24:04Speaker 2: about it. And it's working for Oh my gosh, it's brilliant.
- 24:08Speaker 3: She's going to be in a Hulu show at some point, she's.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Getting I'll get tickets to the Oscars. I golly, I
- 24:16Speaker 2: love it.
- 24:16Speaker 3: She's a talented gal and we love her.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Well, speaking of things I don't love. Look, I was
- 24:23Speaker 3: excited to have you here today.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought Jessica we'll come by, we'll have an
- 24:27Speaker 3: incredible time, and then we'll just you know, go on
- 24:31Speaker 3: with our lives. Yeah, the podcast is called I said
- 24:34Speaker 3: no gifts, right, and you waltzed in today whistling, holding
- 24:38Speaker 3: a little gift bag over your shoulder, and I thought, well,
- 24:41Speaker 3: now here comes trouble.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's the holiday season, and you know,
- 24:46Speaker 2: my mother raised me right that you don't ever show
- 24:48Speaker 2: up without a host. Get so you know, maybe if
- 24:53Speaker 2: I was booked at a different time of year, I would
- 24:54Speaker 2: have obeyed it, Okay, but I just simply couldn't come
- 24:58Speaker 2: in empty, not to your beautiful study right now in
- 25:02Speaker 2: this the festive time of year.
- 25:03Speaker 3: None of that makes any sense to me. But I
- 25:06Speaker 3: mean the damage is done. Should we open it here
- 25:09Speaker 3: on the podcast?
- 25:10Speaker 2: I mean I'd love it if you would. Okay, fine,
- 25:13Speaker 2: you know, just you know, and I like to you know,
- 25:15Speaker 2: they say, don't don't make more work for a host,
- 25:18Speaker 2: So sometimes rude to bring flowers and now they must
- 25:21Speaker 2: fetch a vase or that before. Don't make work for
- 25:24Speaker 2: the host. Don't bring something that now needs a platter, right,
- 25:27Speaker 2: bring a bottle of wine, bring.
- 25:30Speaker 3: You know, whatever's going to happen.
- 25:32Speaker 2: And whatever's going to happen in here? Oh if we.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Haven't had tissue in a while. Oh oops, okay, okay,
- 25:47Speaker 3: reaching there, it seems like there are two things.
- 25:49Speaker 2: There's two well ones, like I would say, you know thin,
- 25:52Speaker 2: think about think about the festive season. One is a
- 25:55Speaker 2: gift and one's more of a stocking stuff.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Which one should take out first?
- 25:57Speaker 2: I think maybe the gift the thing that you can
- 25:59Speaker 2: really get your.
- 26:00Speaker 3: We'll take both. Yeah, perfect, let's just ignore you. I'll
- 26:03Speaker 3: ask for your advice that they ignore.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Oh I love this. I love Uh it's a juice
- 26:12Speaker 3: and citrus squeeze. Excuse me, Yeah, I've I've received one
- 26:17Speaker 3: of these before from Paul fig Wow. So you really
- 26:21Speaker 3: you two are twins?
- 26:22Speaker 2: Now, wow, that's an honor.
- 26:25Speaker 3: And you know, I used to do more videos of
- 26:28Speaker 3: demonstrating how to use the gifts. And I demonstrated and
- 26:32Speaker 3: everyone said, well, have you ever used one of these before?
- 26:35Speaker 3: You're doing it so wrong apparently, like and I've already
- 26:38Speaker 3: forgotten the way to do it, but like, how would
- 26:41Speaker 3: you do this?
- 26:43Speaker 2: Okay, so I would, uh, you know, cut the piece
- 26:47Speaker 2: of citrus in half. Yes, and then and this one's
- 26:51Speaker 2: really good for limes. This is very lime size, and
- 26:53Speaker 2: you'll remember because it's green.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Yes, of course I need.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Don't try to put a grape fruit in here, okay,
- 26:58Speaker 2: This one's mostly for limes or a small lemon.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Trying to put a grape fruit in this is mostly.
- 27:02Speaker 2: For limes, okay. And then I would put the lime
- 27:05Speaker 2: cut side down over these holes. It's little butt facing
- 27:09Speaker 2: up and then you press down right, and it, I mean.
- 27:15Speaker 3: It is.
- 27:16Speaker 2: It's such a game changer to have a citrus squeezer.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I'm sorry that this is doubling up, but I mean,
- 27:21Speaker 2: I know he's a martini man and it is essential
- 27:25Speaker 2: for any home bar, but also just cooking as well.
- 27:28Speaker 2: And anytime that I think, oh I don't want to
- 27:30Speaker 2: dirty it, let me not get it out right now,
- 27:33Speaker 2: it only calls for a squeeze of lemon. I'm always like,
- 27:36Speaker 2: what the hell am I doing? I'm getting way less
- 27:39Speaker 2: juice every time I use my.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Dumb hands, And why else do you own it? Well?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Exactly, And you know I used I watched a lot
- 27:46Speaker 2: of like Cooking Network Food Network growing up, and Alton
- 27:49Speaker 2: Brown used to rage against the single purpose tool. But
- 27:55Speaker 2: I feel like this doesn't apply because the difference of
- 27:59Speaker 2: the juice yield is massive.
- 28:01Speaker 3: I also think, like, I don't know, I feel like
- 28:05Speaker 3: this doesn't really get that dirty.
- 28:06Speaker 2: No, no, no, And it's just like a city. You
- 28:09Speaker 2: could literally just wipe it and put it back because
- 28:11Speaker 2: it's got all that acid.
- 28:12Speaker 3: I just assume it'll just burn away any bacteria.
- 28:14Speaker 2: And it's what we use for savich exactly.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Wow, great points. Yeah, tell at and Brown, how often
- 28:21Speaker 3: are you using a citrus to make up food or drink?
- 28:24Speaker 2: I would say a lot, Like you know, you do
- 28:27Speaker 2: like a little. And then also the seeds can't get through,
- 28:29Speaker 2: So if you want to brighten up a dish with
- 28:31Speaker 2: a little lemon across.
- 28:32Speaker 3: The top, uh huh. I have a couple of trees
- 28:35Speaker 3: in my backyard and I've been in my house for
- 28:37Speaker 3: five years and the orange tree has finally got fruit
- 28:40Speaker 3: on it, and I'm losing my mind. Yeah, eating, And
- 28:44Speaker 3: I've decided my favorite fruit is a blood.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Orange, and so now that's a lovely choice. You might
- 28:48Speaker 2: be able to fit a blood orange in there.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Yes, these are and this is about the size.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Oh.
- 28:52Speaker 3: And I will say that the way you demonstrated you
- 28:54Speaker 3: were doing it correctly, and I was doing it wrong,
- 28:57Speaker 3: did you I was putting it in, uh with the fruit? Yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 3: because you know it's like.
- 29:03Speaker 2: It looks like it looks like it's a cubby. Yeah.
- 29:06Speaker 3: They need to re shape these.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's more like I'm going to use force to
- 29:11Speaker 2: make it fit. It's not going to.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Fit right, And I stand by the way I chose
- 29:17Speaker 3: to use it. How was I supposed to know?
- 29:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's confused.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Was humiliated on the line.
- 29:23Speaker 2: You don't put anything in that top there, and yet
- 29:25Speaker 2: it looks like it's meant to ho right.
- 29:26Speaker 3: The top is like an ice cream scoop. This could
- 29:32Speaker 3: easily scoop an ice cream. Why do they have that?
- 29:34Speaker 3: They should just block this off. They should have a
- 29:36Speaker 3: little cover over the tope.
- 29:37Speaker 2: They have a piece of caution tape at least.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Yeah, do not use that.
- 29:41Speaker 2: You don't get confused.
- 29:42Speaker 3: I mean this could be used as a spoon, a
- 29:44Speaker 3: gravy ladle, all kinds of things. So maybe that that's
- 29:49Speaker 3: I feel like there has to be some purpose for this.
- 29:52Speaker 2: It could just be filled.
- 29:53Speaker 3: That could simply be filled. And but maybe I bet
- 29:56Speaker 3: there are worse ones than this, and they fill them
- 29:58Speaker 3: in like a cheaper But this is more delicate class.
- 30:01Speaker 2: And they want you to. They're not using any unnecessary metals,
- 30:05Speaker 2: you know.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Right right, it's very efficient efficient. Where did this come from?
- 30:10Speaker 2: This came from the general store across the street from
- 30:12Speaker 2: where I live. I thought that place will have something fun,
- 30:15Speaker 2: and I popped around and there were lots of like
- 30:18Speaker 2: dumb things, and then ultimately I was like, I mean,
- 30:21Speaker 2: I'd actually use a citrus squeezer.
- 30:23Speaker 3: General stores are a confusing concept. Yes, they're kind of
- 30:28Speaker 3: at this point like what is it to go buy
- 30:31Speaker 3: like a like gifts for guys.
- 30:34Speaker 2: So I think this one is a little bit more
- 30:37Speaker 2: operating like a convenience store. I would say it has
- 30:41Speaker 2: like beer, wine, alcohol snacks. It it's almost like a
- 30:45Speaker 2: fancy seven to eleven that also has like incense and
- 30:48Speaker 2: candles and citru squeezers, right, and funny cards and like
- 30:52Speaker 2: and then it's attached to a pizza place. So it's
- 30:54Speaker 2: got a little bit more of a function. I remember
- 30:56Speaker 2: when it was like first coming in, it was like
- 30:58Speaker 2: this neighborhood does not need a twee pendleton blanket and
- 31:01Speaker 2: wood pencils, but it does have like food and not
- 31:06Speaker 2: only and not like tweet food, and how you can
- 31:08Speaker 2: get like talkies there.
- 31:09Speaker 3: I've seen this place before. Yeah, I've been. Yeah, I
- 31:12Speaker 3: know the pizza place it's attached to. I'm not going
- 31:14Speaker 3: to docs you, but I'm familiar with this place and
- 31:17Speaker 3: I have not visited it yet. It's nice, but I
- 31:19Speaker 3: was attempted to go in and get like a soda
- 31:21Speaker 3: or something.
- 31:22Speaker 2: You could get a soda. Right.
- 31:23Speaker 3: There's a general store in Silver Lake. That's a little
- 31:26Speaker 3: bit more of what you're describing. Yes, every time I
- 31:28Speaker 3: go in there, I just think, well, how are you
- 31:29Speaker 3: in businesses? Who's buying any of this?
- 31:32Speaker 2: I think that about the Strip and Atwater, where I
- 31:34Speaker 2: feel like there are four and I'm like, how are
- 31:35Speaker 2: you all sustained?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Yeah, there are a lot of I think it's rich children.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. I was just gonna say it's their
- 31:43Speaker 2: parents are successful and that's what they do.
- 31:45Speaker 3: It's like, now I'll open a place where like you
- 31:47Speaker 3: can buy like a leather bookmark. Uh huh yeah right.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I just like, and you never see anybody in them.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I have no I know exactly what's happening and that
- 31:58Speaker 3: everything will be way too expensive. So I just and
- 32:02Speaker 3: there are at least four in at Water, And I.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Also feel like I always feel like it's too personal somehow,
- 32:08Speaker 2: like that's the type of store that I feel like
- 32:09Speaker 2: I need to say goodbye when I leave.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Because that's the sort of store where I have to
- 32:14Speaker 3: lie yeh, I'm like I'll be back.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Yeah, oh thank you? Oh good you do have? Okay? Great?
- 32:19Speaker 2: Good to know? Okay, good to know.
- 32:23Speaker 3: And I always feel embarrassed that I might like even
- 32:25Speaker 3: looking at the price tag because I know they're looking
- 32:26Speaker 3: at me and they know that I'm going to think
- 32:29Speaker 3: it's too expensive. I hate those places. I do like
- 32:32Speaker 3: them for like cards, Okay, when you want to spend
- 32:35Speaker 3: nine dollars in a card, yeah, I guess that's you
- 32:38Speaker 3: know where I like to get a card. Trader Joe's
- 32:41Speaker 3: me too.
- 32:42Speaker 2: I love their cards. But also sometimes I feel like
- 32:46Speaker 2: they'll have like the main ones, and then you'll be like,
- 32:49Speaker 2: wait a second, you're missing like a whole main category,
- 32:52Speaker 2: like what funerals they'll have that, but they like won't
- 32:56Speaker 2: have like thank you or something oh right, which I
- 32:59Speaker 2: guess like I don't know. I think you should always
- 33:01Speaker 2: have like birthday, thank you, getting well, get well, thinking
- 33:05Speaker 2: of you, congratulations.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Right, I feel like you should never have they should
- 33:10Speaker 3: all be completely blownd. Just put an image on the
- 33:13Speaker 3: front and let me figure it out. Yeah, I'm always
- 33:16Speaker 3: so uncomfortable with whatever any card says.
- 33:18Speaker 2: So usually do they have writing inside the Trader Joe's cards.
- 33:21Speaker 2: It's like rare or it's very similarre.
- 33:24Speaker 3: I think that's how they keep prices down. They only
- 33:25Speaker 3: print on.
- 33:26Speaker 2: The front, just like the Squeezer. They're very yes, yes,
- 33:29Speaker 2: but the front will make it clear. The front will
- 33:31Speaker 2: say like, right, here comes your birthday and it'll be
- 33:35Speaker 2: like a train. That's like birthday train.
- 33:38Speaker 3: That makes up the majority. We all love the Trader
- 33:43Speaker 3: Joe's Birthday train.
- 33:44Speaker 2: No.
- 33:44Speaker 3: I like the ones where it's like, oh, here's a
- 33:46Speaker 3: here's the ocean washing up on the beach, and now
- 33:50Speaker 3: I can apply this to whatever. It's the birthday beach,
- 33:52Speaker 3: it's the death beach, it's the baby is coming to shore.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Just let me sign the wedding wave at it's a dollar.
- 34:00Speaker 3: And I think every other car card company is scamming. Yeah,
- 34:04Speaker 3: there's just no justifying more than a dollar for a card.
- 34:07Speaker 2: It's true.
- 34:08Speaker 3: I don't know what to say, but how did we
- 34:11Speaker 3: get to car We were complaining about general stories and
- 34:14Speaker 3: this is a beautiful item to have gotten there. Do
- 34:17Speaker 3: you have a favorite fruit?
- 34:19Speaker 2: I think it's pineapple, really good mangos up there.
- 34:23Speaker 3: I'm trying to start to think about favorite things. I
- 34:27Speaker 3: feel like as a child, you have all of your
- 34:28Speaker 3: favorite things. Then that all goes away and.
- 34:30Speaker 2: You're constantly getting drilled on.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Them constantly people. I'm even quizzed constantly, I get pulled over.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I'm being asked what my favorite fruit?
- 34:38Speaker 2: That answer ready?
- 34:39Speaker 3: But eating a blood orange recently, I was thinking, Wow,
- 34:41Speaker 3: this is my favorite fruit.
- 34:43Speaker 2: That's nice.
- 34:43Speaker 3: I like a fruit that's not too sweet that if
- 34:46Speaker 3: I eat too many of them it will give me
- 34:47Speaker 3: a stomach ache. So the tartness, I feel like, controls
- 34:50Speaker 3: how many you can eat, but I do the blood orange.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Blood orange is excellent.
- 34:56Speaker 2: I like a I like a grape well, I like
- 34:58Speaker 2: grapefruit flavored. I like citrus a lot.
- 35:02Speaker 3: In general, I love grapefruit juice. But I've recently realized
- 35:06Speaker 3: that it interacts with my medication.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yet what a weird one.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It's like kind of a magic fruit in a way
- 35:11Speaker 3: that like you're on well, U turn and suddenly that
- 35:13Speaker 3: grapefruit is saying no, you can't, So I can't. I
- 35:16Speaker 3: guess I can't drink it that often. It's more of
- 35:17Speaker 3: a treat, but it feels dangerous. It's like, well, maybe
- 35:20Speaker 3: I'll be really depressed today.
- 35:22Speaker 2: And ultimately I would say, no, grapefruit's worth that.
- 35:25Speaker 3: I'll say it absolutely is send me to the edge
- 35:29Speaker 3: of depression. I love the taste of grapefruit. I love
- 35:33Speaker 3: to eat a grapefruit. I don't own any grapefruit forks though.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Oh okay, do you know, but all right, future guests.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Please mark it. I love a little grapefruit fork.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Yeah, very delicate.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I guess you can eat them with a regular.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Fork, but I mostly ate them with spoons. With spoons, yeah,
- 35:53Speaker 2: it was like really carving segment.
- 35:55Speaker 3: It is kind of a disaster. As far as eating
- 35:58Speaker 3: it should be shaped like an orange. The segments should
- 36:02Speaker 3: be more like an orange.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I guess they are. If you seal them, no, they
- 36:07Speaker 2: would be big.
- 36:07Speaker 3: It would be massive. I've never peeled a grape.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I think it was just the aesthetics of the eighties
- 36:12Speaker 2: of diet culture, like we're gonna cut this and you're
- 36:15Speaker 2: gonna eat it like it's cereal, and that'll trick your brain.
- 36:18Speaker 3: I've never thought about that.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Is each segment. You're really gonna work for it, But
- 36:23Speaker 2: it means exactly the same.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I feel like you would feel insane peeling one. No
- 36:28Speaker 3: you can Wow, you'd feel so small.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but that'd be good.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you'd feel like a little mouse, like when we
- 36:35Speaker 3: look at the stars. Right, it's exactly the same experience
- 36:38Speaker 3: as looking at the big dipper.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Yeah, remind reminding you of your place. Oh it's grapefruit.
- 36:43Speaker 3: I'm probably not that big.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Yes, this doesn't matter. Look at those grapefruit. Okay, take
- 36:49Speaker 2: a deep breath.
- 36:51Speaker 3: What was the last thing you made with your juice squeezer?
- 36:54Speaker 2: In the summer, my husband and I love a gin
- 36:57Speaker 2: and tonic. Oh, and we make something called an HV
- 37:00Speaker 2: G and T, which is a high volume G and
- 37:02Speaker 2: T because we love a G and T. But you're
- 37:05Speaker 2: but in the summer, you we actually desire more liquid,
- 37:10Speaker 2: especially if it's like the sundown or it's like the
- 37:12Speaker 2: like a happy hour cocktail. You don't want to like
- 37:15Speaker 2: have like a strong mixed drink. You actually want to
- 37:17Speaker 2: be like sipping on something exactly. So we invented the
- 37:21Speaker 2: HVG and T and we had cups made and so
- 37:25Speaker 2: that is a regular it's like two shots of gin,
- 37:28Speaker 2: usually drum shambo of the Irish gin. It has like
- 37:31Speaker 2: kind of notes of earl gray and then some tonic
- 37:36Speaker 2: and then you top the whole like rest of it
- 37:39Speaker 2: with like almost a whole can of pure bubbly Oh see,
- 37:44Speaker 2: like water it down with club soda. So now you're
- 37:46Speaker 2: gonna drink the equivalent of two drinks, but it's going
- 37:48Speaker 2: to take you way longer. And the key of it
- 37:51Speaker 2: to make the flavors balance is to put a lot
- 37:53Speaker 2: of lime, so it'll be like a full lime in each.
- 37:57Speaker 3: And what are the cups you had designed for them?
- 37:59Speaker 2: They're like the Yetti cup that's like one size. This
- 38:03Speaker 2: is not an official YETI no friads, but this is
- 38:06Speaker 2: it's like the size bigger than this that has the
- 38:08Speaker 2: like bulb out. Okay, and you can get those monograms.
- 38:11Speaker 2: So he got it for our anniversary, one for him
- 38:14Speaker 2: and one for me and they say HVG and T
- 38:16Speaker 2: and then our name on the back.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Oh hgt kind of HGTV very close. Wow, that could
- 38:22Speaker 3: be confused. Yeah, that feels like some sort of lawsuits. Yeah,
- 38:26Speaker 3: just on the fridge. Do you guys do a lot
- 38:27Speaker 3: of anniversary gifts?
- 38:28Speaker 2: No?
- 38:29Speaker 3: No, it was rare. Did you ever do? How long
- 38:31Speaker 3: have you been together?
- 38:32Speaker 2: We've been together fifteen years and we've been married for
- 38:35Speaker 2: ten and we have pretty like set rules about like
- 38:38Speaker 2: we don't give gifts for we say, no gifts, no
- 38:42Speaker 2: god loss. We give birthday gifts and Chris we have
- 38:47Speaker 2: like Christmas is like give one big gift and maybe
- 38:50Speaker 2: like four stocking stuffers. We try to keep it like
- 38:53Speaker 2: even no gift for Valentine's Day, no gift for anniversary.
- 38:57Speaker 2: So he kind of broke it.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Wow, Yeah, that was a He always forgets that. We
- 39:01Speaker 3: do cards, okay.
- 39:02Speaker 2: And then I'll be like I have a card and
- 39:04Speaker 2: it's nine dollars from a general store.
- 39:07Speaker 3: We don't. Uh, we're really like slowing down on gifts.
- 39:10Speaker 3: I just yeah, I just don't need any. And you know,
- 39:13Speaker 3: it's like as an adult, you just buy everything you
- 39:15Speaker 3: need or yeah.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Or if something occurs to you organically, then it's really
- 39:19Speaker 2: cool that you know someone can think of you, right,
- 39:21Speaker 2: But when it's forced and it's in like a if
- 39:24Speaker 2: you don't have a good idea and you end up
- 39:25Speaker 2: being like, okay, I bout you five shirts, Like I
- 39:27Speaker 2: don't know why'd I do that?
- 39:28Speaker 3: You know, you probably would have bought once that you
- 39:30Speaker 3: like more.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a giant Yeah. I don't think we're getting
- 39:34Speaker 3: I mean it's we're getting past the idea of being
- 39:36Speaker 3: a sad thing. Yeah, it's like, well, we just have
- 39:39Speaker 3: agreed what would I buy you?
- 39:41Speaker 2: Yeah, And we did a thing where for a while
- 39:44Speaker 2: we were like, oh, let's just make sure we do
- 39:47Speaker 2: something fun on our anniversary.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Oh interesting, right.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Let's go make sure we like, let's go away for
- 39:53Speaker 2: the weekend, or let's like like this year is our tenures?
- 39:56Speaker 2: Just like, so we went away for the weekend.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Where did you go? Oh? Hi, Oh that's nice.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:00Speaker 3: I'm not a no high person.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I feel full of general stores.
- 40:03Speaker 3: It feels like to me, like Mother's Day as a city.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Does that make any sense?
- 40:10Speaker 2: It makes perfect sense.
- 40:11Speaker 3: It's for whatever reason, it doesn't have anything for me there,
- 40:14Speaker 3: but I totally understand why other people like it.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Do you enjoy like a spa.
- 40:18Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever actually been to like a spa.
- 40:21Speaker 3: You stay at and I don't drink so like wine,
- 40:24Speaker 3: I feel like you do need to have a glass
- 40:25Speaker 3: of wine while you're there.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but I would say, like a little massage and
- 40:29Speaker 2: then like a bike ride into town for brunch, you know.
- 40:32Speaker 3: See Mother's Day. Yeah, that's literally well, there's nothing wrong
- 40:37Speaker 3: with Mother's Day. Yeah, but I think if you were
- 40:39Speaker 3: to turn it into a physical place that would be oh.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Hi, yeah, I think that's probably true.
- 40:45Speaker 3: But that sounds like a lovely anniversary. True.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it was nice.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I didn't mean to.
- 40:48Speaker 2: No, no, no. We rode bikes and we sat by
- 40:50Speaker 2: the pool and.
- 40:51Speaker 3: We totally relaxing. I mean it's I mean, that's essentially
- 40:53Speaker 3: what I do in Palm Springs, yes.
- 40:56Speaker 2: But very similar, like if you go in the right
- 40:59Speaker 2: weather where you're gonna be by a pool. To me,
- 41:00Speaker 2: it's pretty similar to like a Palm Springs experience.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I just need somewhere to read. Yeah, I don't know. Okay,
- 41:06Speaker 3: let's uh. We've got this other thing here, which it's
- 41:08Speaker 3: a fortune teller fish.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Have you ever done this?
- 41:11Speaker 3: I have no idea what this is. Oh really, listener.
- 41:13Speaker 3: It's a little like plastic uh what would you say, bag?
- 41:17Speaker 2: Yeah, like a small plastic sleeve.
- 41:19Speaker 3: And it says fortune teller miracle fish with a very
- 41:22Speaker 3: cute fish on the front.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I didn't realize how seafood themed this was gonna it
- 41:26Speaker 2: was going to be. But okay, so I have a
- 41:28Speaker 2: very vivid memory that when I saw a little mermaid
- 41:30Speaker 2: in the theaters, we got these. But they're just like,
- 41:33Speaker 2: you know, it's in the same sort of vein as
- 41:35Speaker 2: like a finger trap or like a yo yo or
- 41:39Speaker 2: something like some small trinket, but or like a mood rink.
- 41:42Speaker 2: So if you open the sleeve, there's a small fish
- 41:46Speaker 2: in it. Oh my god, you're going to put it
- 41:47Speaker 2: on your palm, hold your palm out, and it's going
- 41:49Speaker 2: to tell your fortune.
- 41:50Speaker 3: So just like this, yeah, just put it on it.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go. Okay, okay, so it's like curling up.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Uh huh, it's actively curly, really curly. Oh my gosh,
- 41:58Speaker 2: fall curl tail flip what Okay, So then you can
- 42:01Speaker 2: look at the sleeve and it'll tell you your fortune.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Let's see. So uh with them, it says moving tail.
- 42:08Speaker 2: But uh, you definitely had moving tail, but you might
- 42:11Speaker 2: have is full curl.
- 42:12Speaker 3: One of the curling curls up entirely. Yeah, passionate, that's you.
- 42:19Speaker 2: The fish has told your fortune.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Everybody knew that already. I live a life of passion.
- 42:23Speaker 2: And what's tailed tail?
- 42:25Speaker 3: Moving tail? Indifference.
- 42:27Speaker 2: When it fully moved, it didn't just like flop like
- 42:30Speaker 2: a dead fish.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Right, It really curled up there in a way that
- 42:34Speaker 3: you know, I'm a fiery, passionate person.
- 42:36Speaker 2: That's a tight curl for a fortune fish.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Look at that, well, look at that full tube. Wow,
- 42:41Speaker 3: this has been I can't believe. I've never heard of this.
- 42:43Speaker 3: I've never used one.
- 42:45Speaker 2: You know, they might not be allowed in the city
- 42:47Speaker 2: of Utah.
- 42:48Speaker 3: How does this even work? What is that made of that?
- 42:50Speaker 3: That it's reacting to the heat of your hand or
- 42:53Speaker 3: just the who I am?
- 42:54Speaker 2: Yeah, the pulse of your heart. You know, it's sensing you.
- 42:58Speaker 2: It's making a home in your hand.
- 43:00Speaker 3: And this is interesting because I feel like I have
- 43:02Speaker 3: horrible circulation and usually my hands and feet are very cold.
- 43:05Speaker 3: So today something with the universe was saying passion, passion.
- 43:09Speaker 3: When was the last time you did one of those?
- 43:12Speaker 2: I think maybe this. There was a time like recently
- 43:17Speaker 2: where we were somewhere and we saw them and my
- 43:18Speaker 2: family was like laughing because we hadn't seen them in years,
- 43:21Speaker 2: and we like made my nephews and niece like try it.
- 43:23Speaker 2: We were just like fortune fish. It's been ages.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I love it. Yeah, Are you big into like psychics
- 43:29Speaker 3: this kind of thing? No, No, have you ever been
- 43:31Speaker 3: to a psychic?
- 43:32Speaker 2: No?
- 43:33Speaker 3: What a shame? Not in LA. You've got to go
- 43:35Speaker 3: to one.
- 43:36Speaker 2: I know. I'm just trying to hold the line.
- 43:39Speaker 3: For what line are you holding? Not losing your mind?
- 43:42Speaker 2: Yeah, just trying to just trying to keep those feet
- 43:47Speaker 2: on the ground.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Good luck. Yeah, No, I think I've held the line
- 43:52Speaker 3: pretty well. But I love the experience. Sure, It's just
- 43:55Speaker 3: like I haven't been to one of those ones that
- 43:56Speaker 3: says fortune teller the window, which I think that would
- 43:59Speaker 3: be incredible.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, and I sometimes like try to keep an
- 44:01Speaker 2: open mind, Like if I'm walking the streets of New
- 44:04Speaker 2: Orleans and I see something like that could be almost
- 44:07Speaker 2: like a I guess it's here too, Like if it
- 44:09Speaker 2: feels so ingrained in the culture, you're just being like
- 44:13Speaker 2: an open hearted tourist. Really, but I one time, for
- 44:17Speaker 2: a quiz for my friend's bachelor party, called a psychic
- 44:22Speaker 2: for their behalf and invented a game called like is
- 44:26Speaker 2: this something the psychic said? Or is this a lyric
- 44:28Speaker 2: from a musical?
- 44:31Speaker 3: That's great? Yeah, what musicals were using for every music?
- 44:35Speaker 2: Any like, really really broad You're a.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Big musical person. Yeah, have you been to New York
- 44:42Speaker 3: recently to see any shows?
- 44:43Speaker 2: I just was in New York with like a sort
- 44:45Speaker 2: of dedicated purpose that I wanted to see shows. But brag.
- 44:49Speaker 2: I have two friends who are in place, The World
- 44:52Speaker 2: of Tomorrow, which is with Tom Hanks and then Marjorie
- 44:55Speaker 2: Prime with June Squib. My friends Tom Hanks and June. Yeah,
- 44:58Speaker 2: of course my friends in plays, and so the plays
- 45:01Speaker 2: we saw were their plays.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Oh that's great, which is lovely.
- 45:03Speaker 2: But I was like, this is funny because it's been
- 45:05Speaker 2: a minute since I've been able to like go to
- 45:07Speaker 2: New York for shows.
- 45:08Speaker 3: And about your friend's work.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like a work friend. I wasn't like,
- 45:11Speaker 2: let me see death becomser or something right, right.
- 45:15Speaker 3: And you'll never see Queena Versailles.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I'll never see it that one before my very eyes.
- 45:22Speaker 3: I think it was like three weeks or something.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Tough, tough, it's a tough business.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Yeah, talking to somebody about this, I think that is
- 45:29Speaker 3: that the first Oh no, that's not the first documentary
- 45:32Speaker 3: to musical because there's great gardens gardens, but it was No.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I was going to say, like it might have just
- 45:38Speaker 2: been a zeitgeist thing where I feel like spelling Bee
- 45:41Speaker 2: was at the similar time as the Spelling and it's
- 45:43Speaker 2: not based on but it feels of a similar like oh,
- 45:46Speaker 2: group think moment where we decided spelling Bee's.
- 45:49Speaker 3: Were Spelling Bee the documentary. I loved that. I wonder
- 45:52Speaker 3: where those kids are now, we need to do a
- 45:54Speaker 3: catch up?
- 45:54Speaker 2: Yeah, where are they?
- 45:55Speaker 3: Where did the Spelling Bee take them? And it's been probably.
- 45:59Speaker 2: At least hundred years, so it's public domain.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder that's hard. Somebody's got to catch up
- 46:05Speaker 3: a spelling Yeah. I imagine it probably wouldn't be very
- 46:08Speaker 3: fun to watch.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:09Speaker 3: I feel like anytime you're catching up with people from
- 46:11Speaker 3: a documentary, it's usually.
- 46:13Speaker 2: They did that one documentary where they followed like a
- 46:16Speaker 2: certain group.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Of kids for seven up. Yeah, the British thing.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I never watched it, but I know how to
- 46:21Speaker 2: reference it in this moment.
- 46:22Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean it's yeah, it's just watching time. Yeah,
- 46:28Speaker 3: it's uh, the funnest experience.
- 46:31Speaker 2: And that's why I feel like our dear sweet SLC.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Maybe you know you don't want it to overstay. It's
- 46:37Speaker 2: welcome and become.
- 46:38Speaker 3: But the thing I'll say is with you know, you
- 46:41Speaker 3: start with people whose lives are already a complete mess, right,
- 46:44Speaker 3: so it's just like, let's just watch it become a
- 46:45Speaker 3: different type of mess.
- 46:47Speaker 2: And I'm just like, are any of these I mean,
- 46:49Speaker 2: I feel like the longer they stay, the more like
- 46:52Speaker 2: the marriages don't last.
- 46:53Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, well, and these marriages were all hanging
- 46:56Speaker 3: by a thread. The fact that there hasn't been a
- 46:59Speaker 3: big dival until now, right, Todd? Goodbye Todd? Wait?
- 47:03Speaker 2: Is that a fish?
- 47:04Speaker 3: I thought it was? I thought Bronwin was divorcing him.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Is that outside the show? Is that news?
- 47:11Speaker 3: That's news outside of the show?
- 47:12Speaker 2: That's huge?
- 47:13Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like recent outside of you know, because they
- 47:15Speaker 3: probably shot it in the spring of twenty five. What
- 47:20Speaker 3: is time?
- 47:20Speaker 2: I mean, it seemed bad. He stole the cherry out
- 47:22Speaker 2: of her Sunday after she explicitly said that's my favorite part,
- 47:26Speaker 2: and that's.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Just a red flag about both of them. No one
- 47:28Speaker 3: likes that cherry.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Yeah, as an adult, like that was like something I
- 47:32Speaker 2: would get out the bottom of my Shirley Temple is like, hooray.
- 47:36Speaker 3: The fact that he stole that was so crazy and
- 47:39Speaker 3: it was such a father daughter day. I know everything
- 47:42Speaker 3: about it was tough to watch. Yeah, he wasn't you know,
- 47:45Speaker 3: like age gap things you can be like sometimes like
- 47:48Speaker 3: oh he's charming or he's really good looking. He was
- 47:50Speaker 3: just kind of nothing. He was just like a Yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 3: he should have been married to Muzzy. Yeah, those two
- 47:56Speaker 3: would be an excellent couple. Yes, maybe that's maybe she
- 48:00Speaker 3: was the gal he was looking at on a plane.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Muzzy.
- 48:04Speaker 3: She was sending him photos. Now wow, how did I
- 48:10Speaker 3: not piece that together? She was living in his house.
- 48:12Speaker 3: It was all under Bronwin's nose.
- 48:14Speaker 2: And here's what we've been able to do today. We've
- 48:15Speaker 2: been sleuths.
- 48:18Speaker 3: Get your magnifying glass, put on your hat, and you're
- 48:21Speaker 3: smoking pipe. Wow.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like we could be a segment on
- 48:25Speaker 2: the reun your world, Like, don't tell us anything yet,
- 48:27Speaker 2: let us guess.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Do you know what I heard recently? Part of the
- 48:32Speaker 3: reason Lisa has makeup every day is she can't see
- 48:36Speaker 3: very well. I think that's what I heard.
- 48:39Speaker 2: That kind of breaks my heart.
- 48:40Speaker 3: But it's the sort of thing where it's like, why
- 48:42Speaker 3: doesn't she say that, that's the one thing that could
- 48:44Speaker 3: humanize this person. She's like, no, I want to be
- 48:46Speaker 3: a monster.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Why don't you You can't just like put on this
- 48:49Speaker 2: I mean yeah, I mean my mom will often be like,
- 48:52Speaker 2: will you check my eyeliner? You know, and there's like
- 48:56Speaker 2: a dexterity thing. And but apparently my sister was just like, mom,
- 49:01Speaker 2: just line with shadow instead and use this brush and
- 49:04Speaker 2: it'll blend softer anyway.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Wow, what a great tip.
- 49:07Speaker 2: I know.
- 49:08Speaker 3: See this is how podcasts change people's lives. So listeners like, oh,
- 49:11Speaker 3: now I can fix my I'm a mess. But yeah,
- 49:14Speaker 3: apparently I think Heather said that on an after show
- 49:18Speaker 3: or something that is interesting, big secrets that should be
- 49:21Speaker 3: the drama of Dex season. Yeah, that revelation you never know.
- 49:26Speaker 2: And that's why she's always wearing big glasses.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Oh interesting, do you know? Wow? Those are all giant
- 49:33Speaker 3: prescription glasses.
- 49:34Speaker 2: There's a chance and maybe she doesn't have good she's
- 49:38Speaker 2: not a candidate for contacts.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Maybe And we never see her driving, do we. I
- 49:42Speaker 3: feel like it's usually John driving. Yeah, and she's eating
- 49:45Speaker 3: chicken nug Yeah. Oh wow, it's one of these.
- 49:49Speaker 2: It's all becoming clear. Oh my gosh.
- 49:52Speaker 3: It's all like it's very sixth sense, where it's.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Like it's been there the whole time.
- 49:56Speaker 3: It was all the little can't.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Hear and Lisa can't see I have to stick together.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Wow.
- 50:02Speaker 2: And they're both not from Utah.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Fascinating and they're both very sensitive about it.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Interesting interesting, interesting, And if they would both just own
- 50:15Speaker 3: up to it are a little bit more, yeah, I'd
- 50:18Speaker 3: be like, Oh, I get it now, Yeah, you're not
- 50:20Speaker 3: just the devil. I don't know. Well, I'm passionate. I've
- 50:24Speaker 3: got my lime squeezer. I think we should play a game. Great,
- 50:28Speaker 3: we're gonna play a game called Gift or a Curse.
- 50:29Speaker 3: But I need a number between one and ten from
- 50:31Speaker 3: you four. Okay. I have to do some light calculating
- 50:34Speaker 3: to get our game piece. So right now, you can recommend, promote,
- 50:37Speaker 3: do whatever you want. I'll be right back.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Okay, great, I don't really have anything to super promote
- 50:42Speaker 2: right now. I tour a lot, but we won't be
- 50:45Speaker 2: touring un till April. I guess if you live in Texas,
- 50:47Speaker 2: you can see off Book, which is my former podcast
- 50:51Speaker 2: that now just tours where we improvise a musical. So
- 50:54Speaker 2: if you're in Texas and you want to come to Moontower,
- 50:57Speaker 2: you can come see off Book also I'll recommend a
- 51:00Speaker 2: sitch a squeezer. I really think it's worth it. And
- 51:02Speaker 2: anytime you have ever cut just like a wedge of
- 51:05Speaker 2: a lime and tried to do that, it's not the same.
- 51:09Speaker 2: And that squeeze is going sideways. It's not going down
- 51:12Speaker 2: into your cup, okay, And that's how you get that's
- 51:14Speaker 2: how you get it in an open cut. You know
- 51:17Speaker 2: that's not nice. And also more recipes than you think
- 51:20Speaker 2: could benefit from a little bit of citrus to brighten
- 51:23Speaker 2: it up. Do you know about acid in your food?
- 51:28Speaker 3: Very good?
- 51:28Speaker 2: Thanks, very good.
- 51:29Speaker 3: I mean I will say, when you're out squeezing the
- 51:32Speaker 3: thing into the drink, go for it. And I also
- 51:35Speaker 3: think getting it in a cut nothing wrong with that. Wow,
- 51:38Speaker 3: it's a little prairie advice. But now suddenly it's so clean.
- 51:42Speaker 3: It is clean, fresh smelling. Yeah, but ultimately we need
- 51:45Speaker 3: the squeezer in the home.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, yeah, I agree. Like if you are
- 51:49Speaker 2: at a wedding and you got like a you waited
- 51:51Speaker 2: fifteen minutes for a vodka cran and you're like, gotta
- 51:53Speaker 2: get this lime in here, do your best, but no,
- 51:56Speaker 2: most of that juice is going sideways when you squeeze it.
- 51:59Speaker 3: And now you have thing floating at the bottom of
- 52:01Speaker 3: your drink, kind of a little dead shrimp down there.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Tough to hear. Okay, do I have anything to recommend her?
- 52:09Speaker 3: I already said, We've got the T shirt. Now the
- 52:11Speaker 3: merch go to exactly right store dot com. Yeah, that
- 52:17Speaker 3: seems right.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Okay, seemed exactly right.
- 52:22Speaker 3: This is how we play Gift or a Curse. I'm
- 52:23Speaker 3: going to name three things, so you'll tell me if
- 52:25Speaker 3: there are a gift or a curse and why I
- 52:26Speaker 3: don't tell you if you're right or wrong, because there
- 52:28Speaker 3: are correct answers, you can lose the game. Great, all right?
- 52:31Speaker 3: This first one is from a listener named Emily. Gift
- 52:33Speaker 3: or a Curse looking at a menu online right before
- 52:36Speaker 3: dining at the restaurant.
- 52:40Speaker 2: I think this is ultimately a curse. Why I have
- 52:43Speaker 2: done that before? Sometimes right before. I don't think I've
- 52:46Speaker 2: ever done right before. I've sometimes if it's a really
- 52:49Speaker 2: big splurge, or or if you're in charge of like
- 52:52Speaker 2: picking a food place for maybe disparate dietary needs and
- 52:56Speaker 2: you have to look at the menu to make sure, like, oh,
- 52:58Speaker 2: everyone could get something here, or this is gonna be
- 53:01Speaker 2: the right vibe for this, you know, hangout that I'm
- 53:04Speaker 2: trying to plan. But ultimately, I think one of the
- 53:08Speaker 2: great joys and I'm I'm glad that the QR codes
- 53:11Speaker 2: have like been pushed back a little bit and they're
- 53:14Speaker 2: mostly just at like very very fast casual type restaurants now.
- 53:18Speaker 2: But I think a great joy is to sit down
- 53:20Speaker 2: and have that like discovery. It's a great small talk
- 53:24Speaker 2: to the beginning of the night to have that, like,
- 53:28Speaker 2: you know, let's break the ice here. We can be like,
- 53:29Speaker 2: oh wait, did you see they actually have fetuccini? And
- 53:33Speaker 2: now we're and now we can talk about that before
- 53:35Speaker 2: we talk about like, hey, did you hear the uh
- 53:38Speaker 2: Todd and Brownwood are getting a divorce? You know, you
- 53:40Speaker 2: can't just go right to that. It's like the emmuz
- 53:42Speaker 2: boosh for the conversation is the menu And if everyone's
- 53:47Speaker 2: like I already looked ahead and I know what I'm getting.
- 53:49Speaker 2: I'm getting duck comfee and I'm like, whoa should we
- 53:52Speaker 2: share the duck comfie? Like you know, And also I
- 53:54Speaker 2: think it's very nice to sit down at a meal
- 53:56Speaker 2: and try to be on even footing. So if you've
- 53:58Speaker 2: looked at the menu, and some hasn't. I understand there's
- 54:03Speaker 2: a time and place, but I think ultimately.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Occurs correct, thank you, but for different reasons. I'm seeing
- 54:10Speaker 3: the words right before. No, no, no, it should have
- 54:13Speaker 3: been weeks. You should have been studying the menu. Uh huh.
- 54:16Speaker 3: Worrying about the price is panicking about what you'll eat,
- 54:20Speaker 3: deciding and looking and going back and forth, really weighing
- 54:23Speaker 3: the pros and cons of each menu item, saying if
- 54:26Speaker 3: you even trust the restaurant, then looking at it again,
- 54:30Speaker 3: maybe showing it to your partner, showing it again, then
- 54:32Speaker 3: going to the restaurant, and still asking the waiter for suggestions. Yes,
- 54:36Speaker 3: I think that ultimately you need to have you need
- 54:38Speaker 3: to essentially have memorized the menu in advance.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Well, so that's an example where maybe I would have
- 54:45Speaker 2: gotten points deducted in my show the work, but but
- 54:48Speaker 2: you would have ultimately said some of the points because
- 54:50Speaker 2: you're like you did get the right answer. The hypot
- 54:52Speaker 2: news is this.
- 54:53Speaker 3: But but we know you cheated. You looked at somebody.
- 54:56Speaker 3: All right, You've gotten one right so far. The second
- 55:00Speaker 3: from a listener named Samantha Gift or a curse gravestone recipes.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Have you heard of this. Now, this is something I
- 55:06Speaker 3: recently became familiar with. I don't know if this is
- 55:08Speaker 3: something that's bubbling up online or what, but there, you know,
- 55:11Speaker 3: it's literally what it is. I think it's like on
- 55:13Speaker 3: your gravestone, you have your favorite recipe or something.
- 55:18Speaker 2: I don't know about this, Okay, let me think about it.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Let me not just be knee jerk. Okay. I'm torn
- 55:27Speaker 2: because I think I'm becoming anti grave in general. Like
- 55:31Speaker 2: I think we should all be made into seed pods
- 55:33Speaker 2: or dust.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Like.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I don't like the idea all grieving machinations and businesses
- 55:41Speaker 2: are for the living, and so I get that, do
- 55:44Speaker 2: what you think. But I don't want people to like
- 55:46Speaker 2: come to a little like granite square for me. I
- 55:50Speaker 2: want them to think about me any other place and
- 55:52Speaker 2: not just have this very morbid place where they go
- 55:55Speaker 2: where they're surrounded by other granite squares, where you're like,
- 55:57Speaker 2: oh my gosh, this is really set. I mean up
- 56:00Speaker 2: visiting my grandmother's grave, and it was always very sad.
- 56:03Speaker 2: It didn't make me feel closer to her or like,
- 56:06Speaker 2: you know, I felt closer to her when I would
- 56:08Speaker 2: remember something, or we'd laugh about something, or someone would
- 56:10Speaker 2: tell the story about something funny she did, or that
- 56:14Speaker 2: was how we kept her memory alive. The granite stone
- 56:16Speaker 2: I don't like. Also recipes, they get splatched, they get
- 56:20Speaker 2: like things spilled on them. They're meant to like live
- 56:22Speaker 2: in the kitchen, because ultimately you're gonna have to have
- 56:24Speaker 2: a picture of this gravestone. So if you're like, hey,
- 56:26Speaker 2: does anyone remember how grandma made her Swedish meatballs? Here,
- 56:29Speaker 2: let me send you a screenshot of a photo I
- 56:32Speaker 2: have of her grave. Whereas that should just be in
- 56:35Speaker 2: a recipe card or something that you all have as
- 56:37Speaker 2: her grandchildren. So I'm gonna say curse, although I like
- 56:41Speaker 2: the idea of that. I like part of that, which
- 56:44Speaker 2: is like honoring something joyful about their life and not
- 56:48Speaker 2: just dates and like list of familial roles they held.
- 56:53Speaker 3: Well, first of all, just say I heard almost nothing
- 56:55Speaker 3: you were saying. Because I was thinking about being turned
- 56:57Speaker 3: into a bath ball. I think that should be an option,
- 57:01Speaker 3: a death option, being turned into a bath bomb. If
- 57:03Speaker 3: that's not already, what is it called bed? No bath
- 57:08Speaker 3: and body works? That should be their new thing.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Oh that's brilliant.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Bath and body works. Ash bombs, ash bath bombs, brilliant.
- 57:17Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's okay. I'm so sorry I was distracted.
- 57:20Speaker 2: I mean, you were having a once in a generation idea.
- 57:24Speaker 3: But I will say I did hear what you said.
- 57:26Speaker 3: I think that well, first of all, you're wrong. They
- 57:30Speaker 3: are a gift. I think every gravestone should come with
- 57:33Speaker 3: a recipe. This is the this is the only place
- 57:35Speaker 3: where you should be able to get recipes. We should
- 57:37Speaker 3: take them all off of the Internet, and people should
- 57:40Speaker 3: be scouring graveyards for people's favorite recipes.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Now that I agree with, because the experience of looking
- 57:46Speaker 2: up a recipe online is a healthscape.
- 57:48Speaker 3: Oh it's a tough one. It's I mean, the you know,
- 57:51Speaker 3: I feel bad for the recipe authors because it's obviously
- 57:54Speaker 3: a nightmare and that's how they get trying to make
- 57:56Speaker 3: money on whatever.
- 57:57Speaker 2: But it's horrific that you have to read a posts
- 58:00Speaker 2: and they'll like they'll like soft dole out the information
- 58:03Speaker 2: where they tell you like some of the ingredients, and
- 58:05Speaker 2: then you're like, wait, wait, wait, no, where's the list
- 58:06Speaker 2: of the ingredients? And you're like scrolling, scrolling, scrolling millions
- 58:10Speaker 2: of pop ups. And I didn't think about this about
- 58:12Speaker 2: taking recipes from graves you're not connected to, right, and
- 58:16Speaker 2: then that would make a cemetery much more pleasant. You
- 58:18Speaker 2: could just like walk among the gravestones and say, oh
- 58:21Speaker 2: my gosh, I've never thought to do that with Ricotta.
- 58:23Speaker 3: All right, and maybe the grave the graveyard has a
- 58:27Speaker 3: grocery store attached trull, so we can do all our
- 58:30Speaker 3: shopping and recipe gathering with the dead.
- 58:32Speaker 2: That's nice.
- 58:33Speaker 3: So you were wrong, but that's fine. You made some
- 58:35Speaker 3: good points you thanks, all right. This final one is
- 58:38Speaker 3: from Peter Gift. You're a curse reacting to texts or
- 58:41Speaker 3: shared posts with a non red heart, for example, orange, green,
- 58:46Speaker 3: et cetera.
- 58:48Speaker 2: I'm even caught up in the semantics that I believe
- 58:50Speaker 2: the original one was more like pink and you actually
- 58:53Speaker 2: have to scroll to get there to get the true red.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Oh interesting, Well, we had our starter pack of thumbs up,
- 58:59Speaker 2: thumbs down question and mark heart. It's more of a
- 59:02Speaker 2: pink heart. You have to scroll to get a red heart, right,
- 59:06Speaker 2: But I don't think that's what Peter meant, and I
- 59:08Speaker 2: don't purposely difficult. Yeah, I don't need a drag Peter
- 59:11Speaker 2: about like shades of pinks and reds.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Well, he's not a tech head like you are.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Yeah me, no one can ever accuse me of being
- 59:18Speaker 2: a luddite. I think it's okay. Just different color hearts, yes,
- 59:26Speaker 2: not like oh I'm searching for like a ding bell,
- 59:29Speaker 2: or like a lightning bolt, or a snowman.
- 59:32Speaker 3: Right, or a weird little silhouette of a man. That
- 59:34Speaker 3: means that's so ominous.
- 59:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna say a curse. Why because you have to
- 59:40Speaker 2: do work for that, and that's such a lateral move
- 59:42Speaker 2: and I have nothing connected to green heart, Purple heart.
- 59:46Speaker 2: Purple heart makes me think of someone who got injured
- 59:48Speaker 2: in war. Orange heart, m.
- 59:52Speaker 3: H, what does orange heart that one? Really?
- 59:55Speaker 2: Holland nothing? You're you're excited that the Holland national soccer
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: team is doing well.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: That comes up all the time for me.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: I'm always talking about that.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: I have several different threads about the Holland team. You're correct,
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: this is a curse. I uh, we should have stopped
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: at the one color at heart, red or pink, whatever
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: it was, the one Valentine's the heart.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: I can't continue to read into whatever your your reaction
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: is to my text. I just need to know that
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: you wanted to stop talking to me, Yes, that you
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: were done.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: With the conversation, you're putting a period on it.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Yes, thank you. I will not be responding to this
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: any firm.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: I used to send my my manager and I when
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: we text, when I was sort of done with the conversation,
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: or when I was like cool, I got it. I
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: would just send back, not react, but would send just
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: the sunglasses emoji.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Oh that's a good one, you know, like.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Cool cool, gotcha. We were big, cool, cool kids to
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: each other. You know, he's also so cowboy, so it's
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: a lot of.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Like cool cool, cool, surfs.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Up, calban guy, hang loose, toasts the nose, and then one.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: And I always thought it was a charming way in
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: the conversation. And then one time he was like, oh,
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: so you're done talking to me.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Well, yes, but it's a nice way to answer, I know.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I was like, sorry, it's a good exit point. I mean,
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: weel olled. It was appropriate ribbing. But I was like, oh,
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: so you did see what I was doing.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: Yes, but when you see what somebody's doing, just doing it.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Yeah, let it be whisper words.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: Okay, we got two out of three. Not too terrible.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: All right. This is the final segment of the podcast.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: This is I said no emails people write into I
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: said no gifts at gmail dot com begging for answers.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Can help me answer a question I love to all Right,
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: this is hybridg or and guest. I am a Day
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: one listener and love the podcast. Well, this is a
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: huge red flag for us. This person's a problem person.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: I'm writing with a bit of a unique gift situation.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: I'm hoping you can help me with. My husband had
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: a stroke last weekend at the age of thirty five.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Oh gosh.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: She's doing really well and is recovering at home now,
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: but it was the most terrifying experience of our lives.
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: The future remains somewhat unknown in terms of what of
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: when he'll be able to return to work and what
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: kinds of activity he'll be able to do. Now that
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: I've thoroughly killed the vibe you have, you've ruined the episode.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: Here's my question. With Christmas coming up? Okay, and so
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: now this is tough tough all.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Around for Ida really timestamped this, but I'm sorry you
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: will now get this advice after.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: Christmas is always coming up. Ultimately true, start the Mariah Carey.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Now just get into the spirit of the season in January. Absolutely,
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: I'm okay. So with Christmas coming up, I'm struggling to
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: think of gift ideas. Everything I would normally get him
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: doesn't feel meaningful enough to express how thankful I am
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: for him, how much I love him, and how much
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: he means to me and our son. I'm almost limited
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: by the I'm also limited by the unknown future. He
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: loves his craft beer, but can't drink right now. We
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: love to travel together, but he can't travel yet, et cetera.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: He enjoys music, video games, and his job as a
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: behavior specialist in in middle school. God bless this person.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: He's the best person I know. I appreciate any ideas
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: you can give me to make this Christmas special Alex.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: And then there's a ps. It says, I know this
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: is a serious topic, a serious and not very funny topic,
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: but my husband and I both have a sense of humor,
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: so feel free to joke about it. Well, I was listen.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: I was gonna do whatever I wanted, no matter what.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: That's very sweet, she says.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: I almost brought his The Strokes T shirt to the
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: hospital for him to go home in and then he
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: was disappointed, disappointed that I didn't. I would. I would say,
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: you have to have multiple strokes if you're gonna wear
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: that T shirt. That's true, So that would have been
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: a bad thing.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Unless she taped over the final less Yes, exactly the stroke,
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: the stroke, But I love that they're aligned. You gotta laugh.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: You got what else can you do?
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Alex? Oh Man? That is tough to you.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: And what a tough year for both of them. Because
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: now the Christmas email has been read in January.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: Yes, but hopefully like his birthday, this will still be
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: applying always. There's always another occasion.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: It will always have had the stroke. Yes, So it's
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: totally fine. And by now, you know, maybe he's up
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: and running.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Okay, So I mean without wow trying to show appreciation.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: What's the what's Alex's husband's name?
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: We never found out. That was the one piece of
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: information that from Alex's life that we didn't.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Get, Okay, So without knowing Tony Tony, you know, I
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: would need to know Tony's love language, I feel because
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: I think, you know, appreciation when you really want to
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: show like meaning a lot of times it's like doing
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: the thing that they have been putting off for themselves,
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: you know, like changing the dome light in your car
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: or like that's a big one.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: One time my husband replaced the ram in my computer.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: Oh wow, I was like cool and he was like
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: it probably saved you like two years on getting a
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: new computer. And those don't always get the showiest reaction
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: for me because that doesn't mean as much to me.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: But I think it's like thinking of things that make
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: life easier is always I used for your partner, or like,
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: oh I I you mentioned obviously that's always the best.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Is someone like mentioned it if we're laughing? I mean,
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: is there a cameo we can get from the Strokes where.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: They say in Casablancas cameo, you know, have him say
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: or do you've had a stroke?
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: You know, maybe a little song right, but like they
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: can play every time things are getting kind of bleak,
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: they can like maybe we should actually dance out to
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: your bespoke song that's like, hey, it's okay, We're so
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: glad that you're here, don't be afraid.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: You know, that's a good one. We're wondering, are any
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: of the Strokes on cameo that feels like.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: We can always like reach out to their record label
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: and their manager and say this is a very specific ask,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: but I think it would really bring a smile to
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: his face. And it's something that you could replay and
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: laugh about, like it's a little evergreen.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: In their Instagram comments and just reply over and over,
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: comment after comment. Please write myself, Please, please husband a song. Yeah,
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: he had a stroke, Write him a song. Yes, as
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: many times as you want.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: Okay, then a completely different direction, but just so that
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: I would enjoy if I was in a place of
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: like needing to take things a little slower and be
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: at home. But I'm sensitive that I hope there's if
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: there aren't any dexterity fall out issues from the stroke.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: But I love a really complicated lego set.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: Oh I've never been able to complete a lego set.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: My older brother would always complete them for me.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Have you ventured as an adult? No?
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: I don't think I have the skills. I don't have
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: the spatial skills.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: No, you do. And they're so peaceful and they are
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: brilliantly organized. Where here's the best thing about them as
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: an adult because I like a puzzle too, But then
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: it's like sitting out. You know, a big lego set
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: is divided by bags, so I like, I recently did
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: like a floral arrangement and it was tense bags, right,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: and so I could like keep the box away and
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: be like, oh, you know what I could do right now?
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: One bag.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Oh that's a very contained and.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: It's very peaceful and zen and fun. And they have
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: like a cool guitar. There's a typewriter. Also, my mom
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: had some health stuff last year, and when I was
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: like sitting at home with her, I did this really
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: elaborate Nintendo set with a like a companion TV with Mario,
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: and it was really fun to like take my brain
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: off of it. So you could do it together. I
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: don't know how your son is probably probably too young
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: to help with a complicated set, but it is kind
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: of a fun. You can do it slowly. You could
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: do a really hard one, like you know, the taj
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Mahal or something.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: Put on some music in the background.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Chill out, We'll just keep strokes.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: Get the strokes on vinyl and blast it while you're
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: doing some legos.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: Okay. And then also I've seen and I keep thinking
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: that I would like these. There's a there's like these
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: drumsticks that are just like they you just like drum
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: in the air and does it make noise? It makes noise,
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: and like I think you can have your headphones on too,
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: And I feel like that's a good like that's a
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: good like physical thing that if you if you feel
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: mad about, like why this happened to me? This is
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: this is dumb that this happened to me, you can
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: give yourself a little like rage it out a little bit.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: You know, I want those drums. Sounds delightful. Okay, Shoot,
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: I love to air drum. Yeah, I love to air guitar. Wow.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: Well then I mean I feel like, look, did we
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: miss Christmas? Did we ruin their year?
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: Absolutely?
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Have we potentially helped their next year a full year,
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: which is way better than way better. I mean right
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: now we only have we have like fifty sixteen days left.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: Right if this had been a Christmas one, they would
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: have had like two weeks. Yeah, and then who knows
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: what twenty six is for them?
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: And a lot of those big lego sets are on
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: back order.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: Oh they are crostillar toilets. The teens, Yes, the teens
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: are loving and me and me, the teens especially are
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: getting the floral design ones.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: Yeah you know which one? I did a few years
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: ago is amazing. The home alone house.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: Oh wow, they've really gotten into some crossovers.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's beautiful.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: Does that have little traps?
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah?
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: Does that have an iron slam somebody in the face? Incredible?
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: It has a small lego that is Kevin's plan the
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: battle in.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Wow. Does that have a Joe Pesci Yeah?
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: Wow, including the van that they drive in. It's a
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: very special set.
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: Well, we answered the question perfectly, I think, so we
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: can't get any more complaints.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: Still right back in, Maybe get that set and you
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: can work on it slowly through the whole year and
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: that then it'll take you up to next Christmas.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Oh interesting, and then you can surprise him with some
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: other gift. Right back in.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Actually again, don't right back in, but think about what
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: we told you. Yeah, yes, we answered the question perfectly.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: I have this go absolutely gorgeous lime green citrus squeezer,
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: and I've found who I am. The question fish, I'm
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: very passionate and indifferent.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: The fish was like, could could he be indifferent? And
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: then it's like, actually.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: No, this guy's an absolute freak. Uh huh, So what
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: do we know. I've had such a lovely time with you.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Thank you as well well.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: Listener, the podcast is over. You know I have nothing
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: left to say to you or the guests, and so
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: you have to stop listening right now. I love you, goodbye.
