- Courtney Koenig: Welcome to the ROI of Peace podcast. I'm so excited you're here. I'm sending you lots of hugs and lots of love. I'm so excited we get to spend this time together. When my family and I were in Hawaii a few years ago, it was the most magical trip ever. I'm a beach girl. I love the beach. I'm here in Texas. I don't feel like our beaches are that good. And so I'm like, I love Florida beaches. I love. any kind of beach. We went to Costa Rica, went to the beach. I mean, it's just a magical, wonderful place. So in Hawaii, we were talking as a family, like what excursions do we want to do? And everybody settled on, we really want to go on this boat ride snorkeling trip. It was this boat ride up and down the Wahoo coast, and then we'd stop for snorkeling. Now I have this deep seated fear of, I love the ocean, but I have a deep seated fear of deep water. Like it can be a pool, it can be an ocean. I just need to touch the bottom or see the bottom or have a clear pathway to be able to walk out of the water, you know? So when we were on this boat ride, the captain stopped us where we were going to snorkel and he said, everybody that wants to snorkel, go to the front of the boat. You're going to get some instructions and you'll be able to go in and snorkel. We'll have people in the water helping out and all these things. And so. I was like, if I'm going to snorkel anywhere, this is the place to snorkel. I'm going to have deep regrets. My future self will be like, why didn't you do that or try it? You know? And so I thought, okay, let's try this. Let's at least go to the front of the boat, get the instructions. So when we went to the front of the boat, they said everybody has to have a life vest on. Now you can pump up your life vest or you can have just no air in the life vest, depending on what you want to do. But you have to have a life vest on. So I was like, I will pump this air, this life vest full with air. I will be floating. So my husband's like, Scott's like, Hey, know, everybody's going to go snorkeling. I know I want you to have this experience. Do you want me to stay and help? You know? And I'm like, I think I'm going to stay very close to the boat. So. because I don't want to be so tired that I can't swim back. I know they wouldn't just leave me there, but you know, like I don't want to be so exhausted that I can't get back to the boat. I let everybody, my family, I let everybody on the boat go. I was like, everybody go, because I know it's going to take me a little bit of time to get into the water because of my fear, plus the MS fatigue, you never know when that's going to rise up. And so I'm like, just everybody go. So I'm about to get into walk. down the little ladder, you know, into the ocean. And I'm like, ⁓ my gosh, can't, you know, I can see clearly, but I can't, the bottom is really far away. And as I am like hesitating, the captain of the boat says, hey, would you like a floatie? Like one of the pool noodles. And I'm like, send me the pool noodle, yes. So here I have a life vest on. I have a pool noodle. And then this other woman that was kind of helping out with things, she was in the water and she's like, hey, do you want to, cause she could still tell I was so nervous. She's like, hey, do you want to hang on to the life ring that's attached to the boat? She's probably thinking inside, girl, you're not going to lose it, but just, know. And I was like, yes, that sounds great. So here I am with a life vest, a pool noodle and. a wonderful like attachment to the boat, like the ring, you know, the ring that they throw into people like, hey, catch this. And then they could pull them back in. I was, I got that too. So I got into the water and I was like, okay, surely I could do this. So I get into the water, this nice woman was like, all you have to do is tip forward, put your face into the water and let your feet rise up. And I was like, okay, surely I can do this. And so that's what I did. I tipped over, I put my face into the water and I was like, my goodness. I saw the most beautiful fish with bright colors and they're swimming all around me. It was stunning. I saw coral, bright purples and pinks and oranges and just like, it was unreal. So I had my face down in the water for... like a minute or two looking around and I come back out and I'm like, that was phenomenal. I have never seen the earth like that. A piece of the earth that I've never experienced before, but I only experienced it because I had a pool noodle, a life vest, and I knew I was attached to the boat. I needed these different things to help me to have this great experience. In personal development, we need to have these beautiful experiences that support us, that accommodate who we are. I really, really cannot stand when people are like, hey, you know, whether it's a guru or a coach or someone in the industry is like, hey, do this one thing and you'll be great. That one size fits all methodology does not work. And that's where human design comes in. Human design is this, it's a personality test, similar to the straight finders or Enneagram, but you will love it 10 times more because it goes into 10 times more depth. It shows you how you're designed to use your energy, how you're meant to make decisions and the gifts that you were individually born with. It's 35. to 40 parts on everybody's human design chart that shows how do you show up in this world and how do you make the thing that you want happen for you individually. So instead of forcing life, you start working with your gifts, tapping into the support and the accommodations that you need, making better decisions. This is the beauty of human design. Take breath. You've got this. Okay, if you're looking on your human design chart and you're seeing across from the body graph part, there's this list and it says human design type and inner authority and all these things. You want to look at type and if yours is a projector, this is for you. Or if you know a projector, this is also for them too. I'm a projector, so I'm excited to share with you the gifts that you were born with. And projectors are incredibly powerful. You have this power of seeing more. Your mantra is, people are powerfully impacted by my wisdom, because you see wisdom, you can read a room without having them open their mouth. You're a natural coach, advisor, and strategist. You're deeply intuitive about people and systems. You're able to see these patterns and potential as well. So you have this like bird's eye view of seeing things. If you're like, Well, here we are at A and I want to get to Z, but all we have to do is actually do two things and we're there. You know, you simplify the whole process, which is one of your greatest gifts. can instantly kind of diagnose what's off about a situation without people having to speak everything out. Cause you can feel the inner workings of what you're sensing and feeling. That's real leadership. That's real clarity. That's real help by seeing clearly what other people need. Now your energy comes in this ups and downs and this waves and flows. So one minute you're going to be like, let's do this. And you could get things done quickly because you're like, let's keep it simple. Let's just do this thing and we're done. you don't have to complicate things, which is such a great gift. You also don't, you're not always on. You need downtime. You need rest. need to know that. You can have alone time because even if you're sitting in the room, whether it's a boardroom or a home, you're getting energetic exchanges with people and you need that alone time to dump those energetic exchanges. And that's okay. You're not meant to either get up early and stay up late and be working all day long. You need pockets of time where you have downtime. One of the greatest things that I've done in my business is I put naps as part of my business plan. And I've always needed a nap, even before I was diagnosed with MS. I always needed a nap. And that is really great. It's a great way to reset. It's a great way to close your eyes. It doesn't have to take long. Resets do not have to take long. And so get out of that hustle mentality that you are here to create the thing, to build the thing, to do the thing, all the things. No, you're here to have a vision. You're a visionary. And then you're to bring on the people to support your vision, whether that's personal or professional, you're not meant to do all the things and that's okay. You're meant to have the vision of this greater zoomed out perspective and be like, okay, we need to put this person here and this here and really be able to hear what people need to hear and actually be able to see people who for their gifts and their talents and their struggles as well. And that's a beautiful gift that you have. So I really want you to watch out for pushing past burnout. Get to know your body's signals of what burnout and exhaustion and overwhelm feel like, and I'm sure you do. And then the next thing is to do something about it. And also to take that a step further is to accommodate yourself in your different seasons and in your different stages of life. Each day can be a season of Okay, I'm really on in the morning. I need a little break in the afternoon and then I can be on again. Or I really work better at night. So I should do like a lot of my stuff at night. Or I have my, I'm a really creative in the morning. So I could put my creative time during that time. I want you to be acknowledging of that. Now your strategy of how you make things happen because just because you don't have all this energizer bunny like other human design types do. you can still make things happen is your wisdom can lead. Your strategy is to be invited. Now this strategy might be like, okay, what? Invited? That's not what, if I want things happen, I have to go make things happen. No, all that in being invited means is that you're invited to the table. And what does that look like in a business setting? It could look like sitting around the board table. It could look like being in the room for networking. It could look like making friends on LinkedIn. It can look on Instagram, know, whatever that is, that's you being invited. And then you can make the invitations for other people. Personally, you can be like, am I kind of vibing with this person? So I, what I do is I, for podcasting, how I find my podcast guests is I like to have like a coffee chat, a virtual coffee chat. And we talk and we see if we vibe. And I have. That's a really good way for me to see if I really connect with people and to see if we will have a good podcast. And literally it works out every single time. If I'm just like, yes, this is a great idea. I'd love to have you on out of obligation. The episode is terrible. And so I need to be a little more brave about that. But if I'm like, this is it, for sure we're gonna have a good episode. I know in our coffee chats, if we're gonna have an amazing episode. So you're having energetic exchanges with people. So. Be in tune with what is a yes with that energetic exchange and what is a no and be brave enough to set those boundaries or don't fall into people pleasing, which is what I tend to do. So one other strategy I want you to really enact that will help you is what do I need to delegate, diminish or delete? This will help you to have more peace and flow with your goals personally and professionally. Okay, some reflection questions is what am I overworking? Where? Where am I overworking instead of leading from wisdom? Okay, overworking. It's gonna get you every time. Where do I need more space or support? What am I holding onto that I don't actually need to be doing? Right? Projectors have so many beautiful gifts. When I found out I was a projector, at first I was like, okay, great. But I have absolutely loved learning about all the gifts that I was born with. And if you're like, I wanna go deeper, you can look in the show notes for ways that we can spend more time together. You can get a reading, you can get access to the ROI of Peace app. You can join the mastermind community that has app access and a community of women who are so inspiring and we just have wonderful sessions together. And of course there's always private coaching too. So I'm so glad you're here because when you understand your design, you stop trying to fit into someone else's path and start trusting your own. All right, we'll see you in the next episode.
