- 0:25Speaker 1: at two two five, two six, You can get us
- 0:27Speaker 1: that way. Taco's got that screen up in front of him.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I'm Pat Lynch, and as I just mentioned, that is
- 0:32Speaker 1: Taco bomb text line.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I'm looking at different different text that came through right
- 0:38Speaker 2: towards the end of the show, and one I was like, hey,
- 0:40Speaker 2: you know, thanks so much for listening to and supporting
- 0:43Speaker 2: the show over the year, over the years, and we've
- 0:45Speaker 2: said that numerous times for a reason because honestly, we
- 0:49Speaker 2: don't have a job without you listening, So thank you
- 0:52Speaker 2: as well. But then he responded to Backpat been a
- 0:55Speaker 2: fan from day one, surfed four to twenty all the
- 0:58Speaker 2: time for me. Brass in Cocoa Beach, and then somebody
- 1:02Speaker 2: else who listens down in South Florida said Yep, he's
- 1:07Speaker 2: been listening for a long time and said, you guys
- 1:09Speaker 2: are way better than that. What is it South Florida,
- 1:11Speaker 2: Paul Castronova or whatever. Paul's great. Yeah, it used to
- 1:15Speaker 2: be Paul and young Ron.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Now it's just Paul right yeah, ye yeah, but no,
- 1:19Speaker 1: this guy, no, he's a he's a family member.
- 1:22Speaker 2: No I know that. But he said, yeah, been you
- 1:25Speaker 2: listen to you down there, and uh, listen to you
- 1:28Speaker 2: guys forever and said since he goes since when downtown
- 1:34Speaker 2: was the party spot Nickel beer? Good god? Uh huh,
- 1:38Speaker 2: old school dude.
- 1:41Speaker 1: So boy, old boy has a lot of crazy crap
- 1:44Speaker 1: happened in the last week since our last podcast.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Huh Yeah, I.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Think I've developed a whole new addiction. And I didn't
- 1:49Speaker 1: realize this is an addiction, but uh not for me.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It's a battle porn.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah. You watching all the footage of the war, right.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Dude, and it's just mind blowing the precision that this
- 2:04Speaker 1: weaponry has on targets. I mean, did you you had
- 2:10Speaker 1: to at least see the submarine that sank the the
- 2:13Speaker 1: Iranian battleship.
- 2:15Speaker 2: No, literally not. I didn't see that. I've seen when
- 2:21Speaker 2: we're in here. It's the only coverage I've seen to
- 2:24Speaker 2: where they're showing them blowing up tanks everything. It's semis Yeah,
- 2:30Speaker 2: it's just it's wild again.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We're not I don't mean to get into the military
- 2:36Speaker 1: operation round table here.
- 2:39Speaker 2: You've watching it because you had it on in here
- 2:41Speaker 2: the other day asking I'm just.
- 2:43Speaker 1: You know what, I'm hopefully concerned. Does that make any sense?
- 2:51Speaker 2: Oh, you're you're whatever, optimistic?
- 2:54Speaker 1: I hopelessly hopefully optimistic optimistic.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, the hopefully assimistic is what you Yeah, anyway, way,
- 3:02Speaker 2: you know what he's saying.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I know, I just I haven't being old enough to
- 3:06Speaker 1: remember when all of this Iranian nonsense started forty seven
- 3:11Speaker 1: years ago, you know, when they stormed the embassy and
- 3:14Speaker 1: took all those US hostages and that went on forever
- 3:18Speaker 1: and ever since, it's just been the you know, one
- 3:21Speaker 1: thing after another with terrorism, this terrorism that to see
- 3:25Speaker 1: that regime just essentially well for now wiped out, That's
- 3:30Speaker 1: that's the concerning part is I don't think there's been
- 3:34Speaker 1: a clear answer given as to what is next. Yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: because I don't think anyone really knows.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I don't whether they know or not. I don't think
- 3:41Speaker 2: they're gonna tell people what's next, because that's like saying, hey,
- 3:45Speaker 2: here's my playbook, good luck in the game today, to
- 3:48Speaker 2: the to the other coach, and you were true.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But I what I'm getting at Taco is what's being
- 3:54Speaker 1: said here is and I try to the way at
- 3:57Speaker 1: least my mind works is you know, it's being said, Hey,
- 4:01Speaker 1: Iranian people, you know this is not against you all.
- 4:04Speaker 1: This is to move that oppressive, you know, killing machine
- 4:08Speaker 1: regime out of the way, which they've done.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Now it's on you.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Go ahead, rise up and run your own country. The
- 4:14Speaker 1: only way I have to kind of think about that
- 4:17Speaker 1: is if in this country, somehow, all of a sudden,
- 4:20Speaker 1: all of the leadership, you know, forty eight layers deep,
- 4:23Speaker 1: was wiped out, and they're like, okay, go American people
- 4:26Speaker 1: and run things yourself.
- 4:28Speaker 2: May anarchy and that's cure. Yeah. Yeah. I go over
- 4:32Speaker 2: there and I'm like, okay, why don't they just have
- 4:34Speaker 2: the person who works in the Iranian embassy. If they
- 4:39Speaker 2: have one, have that person run the country and then
- 4:41Speaker 2: reappoint somebody in that spot. They know what's going on,
- 4:46Speaker 2: maybe they can take that's you have now, well you
- 4:51Speaker 2: should give a shit. I mean, I mean yeah, a
- 4:54Speaker 2: gas prices are up, which is dumb because the iranaz't
- 4:57Speaker 2: even supplier oil. We won't go into that forever. That
- 5:00Speaker 2: part does suck.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That right when, right when we get to where gas
- 5:04Speaker 1: prices are coming down to a more reasonable level, boom,
- 5:08Speaker 1: they go right back up again.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You want a little fun fact about the war forty
- 5:13Speaker 2: seven years ago, you know how? And this is just
- 5:16Speaker 2: deep not not the war, but we with all the
- 5:18Speaker 2: Iran stuff that happened that long ago. I started with
- 5:22Speaker 2: the hostage taking exactly. My dad would not let us
- 5:27Speaker 2: get HBL right, and my.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Older sibling when HBO when you were kids, Yeah, okay,
- 5:35Speaker 1: and yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Because you know he's a serviceman. He's like, you know,
- 5:39Speaker 2: do as I say, not as I do, and rest
- 5:42Speaker 2: in peace. I don't mean that in a bad way,
- 5:43Speaker 2: my way or the highway type. But you know when,
- 5:45Speaker 2: uh but did fun ship with you and everything? But
- 5:48Speaker 2: you know when, uh when sometimes you'll get a free
- 5:52Speaker 2: subscription for the weekend.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Oh free, free free view they would call.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Free HBO or free cinemas. Usually not. But he happened
- 6:02Speaker 2: to walk in when we were watching a Cheech and
- 6:04Speaker 2: Chong movie that said fuck Iran. On the chalk board
- 6:08Speaker 2: in the background, and he goes, that is why we
- 6:11Speaker 2: don't have HBO in this family. Yea, yeah, yeah, I
- 6:17Speaker 2: was a little kid.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Oh he didn't take exception to the f I Ran.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I mean he was probably was a military now he
- 6:24Speaker 1: was probably like.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yeah, no, we were young kids watching a pot smoking
- 6:28Speaker 2: movie and there's f ball right there with an Iran reference.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I was like, okay, I got you. Yeah, no, nothing.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Of course he wanted our hostages back.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Oh and just one other thought here, and that is
- 6:42Speaker 1: that's why.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I didn't have HBO growing up. That's a little fun
- 6:44Speaker 2: fact for the day. Funny.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Uh.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Any of you who have loved ones or family members
- 6:50Speaker 1: serving right now, God bless you, We're We're with you,
- 6:54Speaker 1: We are with you, and may they all come back
- 6:57Speaker 1: safe and get the job done as ordered. And you know,
- 7:03Speaker 1: we hope nothing but the best for each and every
- 7:05Speaker 1: one of our service personnel.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean we saw somebody local right here, was
- 7:11Speaker 2: that winter.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Haven, Richard Winter winter Haven? Yeah, yeah, you're right. Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 1: But anyway, so we got that. That's obviously a big
- 7:20Speaker 1: deal that's going on and changing literally by by the hour.
- 7:24Speaker 1: So who knows where this is all going. We certainly don't.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I have to point this out something that I said
- 7:31Speaker 2: to you the other day. I was driving home from work,
- 7:36Speaker 2: going a back road to the gym. Well, I'm just
- 7:38Speaker 2: I'm painting the picture that I'm driving home down Lee
- 7:41Speaker 2: Road and then through the winter park near the nine
- 7:45Speaker 2: hole golf course. Just give you a reference point of
- 7:47Speaker 2: where for the scenario that I'm gonna say, And it
- 7:50Speaker 2: hit me. I cannot imagine if they started bombing us
- 7:56Speaker 2: here in our town.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Again, we don't have a reference point for any of
- 8:01Speaker 1: this stuff, exactly what you're discribed.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I'm just saying, if you're if you're driving home and
- 8:06Speaker 2: you see bombs come home God hitting your neighbor's house, like,
- 8:10Speaker 2: holy shit, that was got up.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I'm agreeing with you. And you can't even get your
- 8:15Speaker 1: head around the idea when you see the footage of
- 8:17Speaker 1: places coming in with that happening, and yet life going
- 8:21Speaker 1: on as if nothing's going. Oh there goes another missile
- 8:24Speaker 1: overhead and that one's headed for wow.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Yeah, It's just we take a lot for granted here
- 8:31Speaker 1: in this country.
- 8:32Speaker 2: It's just just no two ways about it, and all
- 8:34Speaker 2: of us are guilty of that. I just saw all
- 8:36Speaker 2: these people walking on the golf course and thought if
- 8:39Speaker 2: they just put the biggest sand sand bulger right there
- 8:43Speaker 2: with it, just it was a visual I got to
- 8:46Speaker 2: kind of freaked me out from it. I oh, this
- 8:49Speaker 2: would be not no blaino all right.
- 8:52Speaker 1: So uh, anyway, there's that. We'll continue to mind. If
- 8:56Speaker 1: something happens here while we're you know, doing this, well,
- 8:59Speaker 1: obviously share that info with you.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Hey, And what about Guthrie? They find her yet that's not.
- 9:04Speaker 1: That kind of got pushed right out of the news
- 9:05Speaker 1: and it's Nancy Guthrie.
- 9:07Speaker 2: You drop some bombs on Iran And.
- 9:11Speaker 1: But that is the that's the media shiny object mentality
- 9:16Speaker 1: now man, It's like, yeah, they.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Not only the media, it's people in general.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Well, but it gets fueled by what the media drives
- 9:24Speaker 1: and then you know, then it proliferates with social media.
- 9:29Speaker 1: You just we know how it goes now and that
- 9:31Speaker 1: that's the ever changing uh flavor of the moment news
- 9:35Speaker 1: story or rage out you know, outrage or whatever it
- 9:38Speaker 1: may be. And it's just it's it's always going to
- 9:41Speaker 1: be like that now. And it's technology, man. Technology, We
- 9:45Speaker 1: know everything about everything, or think we do.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Speaking of technology, that's segs as greatly. It's a great
- 9:51Speaker 2: sag to go into what we were talking about yesterday.
- 9:54Speaker 1: We were we were talking about the building that we're
- 9:57Speaker 1: in and we've worked in this building together. In June,
- 9:59Speaker 1: it'll be third years. Taco has been here even longer.
- 10:02Speaker 1: But the inside the guts of this building used to
- 10:05Speaker 1: be significantly different, and we were trying to picture what
- 10:08Speaker 1: used to beware and you know how it's been reconfigured
- 10:13Speaker 1: as of late. But the one area that we just hated,
- 10:18Speaker 1: In fact, most people who worked here in an on
- 10:21Speaker 1: air capacity really hated. The area was called the production office.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And the reason why most people hated the production office
- 10:29Speaker 2: the people in there were cool. We had some really
- 10:31Speaker 2: hot ones and they remember the mother daughter team that
- 10:34Speaker 2: we were friends with, ye both hot. But it was
- 10:37Speaker 2: the fact that there were little baskets that had our
- 10:43Speaker 2: name on them. We each had what was called a
- 10:44Speaker 2: production basket, and it was prior to all this great technology,
- 10:49Speaker 2: So it was paper orders that would say Taco Bob
- 10:54Speaker 2: produce this commercial, dub this put that way, and it
- 10:58Speaker 2: was just what it was.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Was part of the job that we do and still do,
- 11:03Speaker 1: but it was a pain in the ass. And this
- 11:08Speaker 1: stuff would always get assigned. It seemed like right when
- 11:12Speaker 1: you were ready to walk out the door.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and usually on a Friday. I still have dreams
- 11:16Speaker 2: every now and then of the production bin and sebody gone, hey, Bud,
- 11:21Speaker 2: I need you to dub this, dude. So it got
- 11:25Speaker 2: to the point where it dubbing. We would have to
- 11:28Speaker 2: dub like a tag on a spot that's lingo that
- 11:31Speaker 2: I can explain, here's your commercial, and then there has
- 11:34Speaker 2: to be a five second thing on the end, which
- 11:37Speaker 2: is the tag.
- 11:38Speaker 1: To localize it. It'd be a national commercial and ender
- 11:42Speaker 1: be a space at the end of allows for a
- 11:44Speaker 1: local tag that you would have to jump in and
- 11:47Speaker 1: then marry the two together and then dub into the system.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Yeah, so then create the entire commercial. I got so
- 11:54Speaker 2: sick of these things. And when Pat says, they'd always
- 11:56Speaker 2: be right, get assigned right when you're leaving, we would
- 12:00Speaker 2: walk with a start date of the next day. Okay,
- 12:03Speaker 2: I want this camera to be the production office, right, Yeah,
- 12:06Speaker 2: so that is the production office right there? Am I
- 12:10Speaker 2: in it inframe? Yeah?
- 12:12Speaker 3: As soon as I'm walking down the hall with Pat,
- 12:16Speaker 3: you be walking, I do look away from that office,
- 12:21Speaker 3: so that or sometimes one of you would take a
- 12:24Speaker 3: peek just to see if you had stuff in your box.
- 12:27Speaker 1: You could tell, you could tell it was always it was.
- 12:30Speaker 1: It was a production piece of paper rubber band around,
- 12:33Speaker 1: usually a box that had.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Tape in it. Take the real tape, which meant work. Yes.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And it would always come, not only at the end
- 12:44Speaker 2: of your day when you're lea it would come on
- 12:46Speaker 2: a Friday, and it would be several of them. These
- 12:49Speaker 2: have to be done by Monday. So I hated doing
- 12:52Speaker 2: these things so much that I was I started going.
- 12:58Speaker 2: I started doing them as poorly as I could. So
- 13:03Speaker 2: let's just say it's you're craving the hut yo he's
- 13:09Speaker 2: talking about He's talking about the tag hut. Yeah, with
- 13:12Speaker 2: locations in Sanford and and uh Sanford, Nosting whatever, and
- 13:18Speaker 2: I go, okay, not a good example, but I so
- 13:22Speaker 2: I would get the tag and.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Go the slickly produced national spot would play, Okay, then
- 13:28Speaker 1: you would get to the ten five or ten seconds
- 13:30Speaker 1: silence at the end to insert the local information, which
- 13:33Speaker 1: is where DJ jumps in.
- 13:35Speaker 2: With, this is the professional way I should do them.
- 13:38Speaker 2: With locations in Sanford, Orlando and the mall at Millennia Instead,
- 13:44Speaker 2: I figured out a system where I started going, yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 2: they have locations in Sanford winter Springs, and yeah out
- 13:52Speaker 2: there in Mala Millennia in that voice, just which is
- 13:56Speaker 2: my normal voice.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And it would have been fine if it only aired
- 13:58Speaker 1: on WJRR, because it's Taco Bob, known voice, expected presentation
- 14:04Speaker 1: by you.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Our listeners. But no, no, no.
- 14:07Speaker 1: When you work in a cluster of radio station and
- 14:10Speaker 1: the spot national spot comes down, chances are it's running
- 14:13Speaker 1: on multiple stations, which which.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I'm driving home one day and listening to Jim Phillips
- 14:20Speaker 2: legend in town for years and years on one O
- 14:23Speaker 2: four point one, and they come out of commercials and
- 14:29Speaker 2: it's a dub that I did that says something like, yeah,
- 14:34Speaker 2: his place is really cool, locations in Castlebury and Sanford.
- 14:39Speaker 2: He comes out and he goes, what, what in the
- 14:43Speaker 2: hell is that? Who are we hiring? Now? He goes,
- 14:47Speaker 2: that is the worst I've ever heard. So I was
- 14:51Speaker 2: doing them poorly, so they'd stop asking me to do them.
- 14:55Speaker 2: And Pat, I think that you figured that out and
- 14:58Speaker 2: said you're crazy, but they stopped. Knock on wood, Oh
- 15:05Speaker 2: my god, the fact that I was listening to the
- 15:08Speaker 2: Phillips file when he that commercial played and he lost
- 15:14Speaker 2: his shit. It was it was great and just.
- 15:17Speaker 1: To just to kind of wrap it all around. Now,
- 15:19Speaker 1: doing that type of work is still in our job description.
- 15:22Speaker 1: We do it every day. We have to do additional
- 15:24Speaker 1: stuff for commercials and promos and all that, and it's fine.
- 15:27Speaker 1: But the way it is done now, and the systems
- 15:30Speaker 1: that are in place and are our company that has
- 15:33Speaker 1: hubs now where people all day do nothing but commercial
- 15:36Speaker 1: dubs and commercials and whatever, it's the workload has been
- 15:39Speaker 1: lessened tremendously and you have to wear more hats and
- 15:42Speaker 1: do more things. And they understand that. So they've spread
- 15:44Speaker 1: it out and decentralized it and it just seems to
- 15:49Speaker 1: work a lot better.
- 15:51Speaker 2: The production ben that thing. I'm telling you, it gave
- 15:54Speaker 2: me nightmares up to about a year ago. I remember
- 15:58Speaker 2: his side shirt and going, Tako, we have a bunch
- 16:00Speaker 2: of stuff loaded up in your production then, and I
- 16:03Speaker 2: looked at him and said, don't tell anybody who told
- 16:06Speaker 2: me that I'm leaving bye.
- 16:08Speaker 1: He wanted to be able to have plausible deniability. It
- 16:11Speaker 1: must have gone in after I left. I wanted to
- 16:14Speaker 1: back up. Now that that's done, and you brought you
- 16:16Speaker 1: know Jim Phillips up.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Who was a legend in this rate in this town radio.
- 16:20Speaker 1: What was it we did that that pissed him off?
- 16:23Speaker 1: And we had the beef with him for a while.
- 16:25Speaker 2: You don't remember, No, it's been so long. What what
- 16:29Speaker 2: did we do? We said he was old? No, it
- 16:33Speaker 2: was because we.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Were this was early in our careers together doing our thing,
- 16:40Speaker 1: and we we called him old.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it was it was like, oh that all whatever
- 16:45Speaker 2: our ratings were, not saying that we beat Phillips in
- 16:48Speaker 2: the rating. He was a legend, but we were getting
- 16:51Speaker 2: first every now and then. And it went on like,
- 16:54Speaker 2: oh yeah, that old dude down the hall things that,
- 16:56Speaker 2: you know, he's the king of everything. Thank you for
- 17:00Speaker 2: whatever we did. It was not cool. We called him old,
- 17:03Speaker 2: and we all of a sudden heard the voice, Hey guys,
- 17:07Speaker 2: we need to.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Talk former head of iHeart Programming in Orlando. Uh Chris Campmere, Hey.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Hey, Dip and ship come with me. No, you didn't
- 17:17Speaker 2: cost that, but he said, hey, guys, we gotta we
- 17:20Speaker 2: gotta iron some out here. We gotta talk. And he
- 17:23Speaker 2: walked us in and it was Auto, who what's up? Auto?
- 17:26Speaker 2: If you get into he's cool as hell to and
- 17:29Speaker 2: Jim's we love him. It's Auto and Jim Phillips. And
- 17:33Speaker 2: Jim's kind of leaning against the wall. Remember it was
- 17:35Speaker 2: in what is the now other pantry? Yeah, okay, And
- 17:38Speaker 2: and remember Jim's like this leaning lean up against the wall,
- 17:42Speaker 2: you know, business man. And then walk these two schlopes,
- 17:46Speaker 2: Pat and Taco in shorts and t shirts and and
- 17:50Speaker 2: Chris goes Pat Taco, you know, Auto, Jim Phillips. Guys,
- 17:58Speaker 2: you gotta talk. Is getting out of hand. There's stupid ship.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah, we had We had really never conversed with the
- 18:05Speaker 1: guy because he was like, as Taco said, he was,
- 18:08Speaker 1: you know, hands off, and he keeps to himself and
- 18:10Speaker 1: he's very private, which was cool as hell, which was
- 18:13Speaker 1: the is the exact opposite of what he does on
- 18:15Speaker 1: the air. He would just you know, rip you a
- 18:17Speaker 1: new one on the air, if you, if you, if
- 18:19Speaker 1: you were on the wrong side of whatever he was thinking,
- 18:22Speaker 1: watch out.
- 18:23Speaker 2: And Jim, if you're hearing this, remember we love you.
- 18:26Speaker 2: And he knows that because last time I saw him,
- 18:29Speaker 2: he's like, TV, how are you? So we all became
- 18:32Speaker 2: great friends, but at the time it was heated, and
- 18:35Speaker 2: I remember Auto saying man, guys, come on, we gotta
- 18:39Speaker 2: we gotta kind of just chill out. I'll get it
- 18:42Speaker 2: so from then on.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I mean, we're all cool.
- 18:44Speaker 2: You know. It's funny though, I think it didn't upset
- 18:46Speaker 2: Jim that bad, but I think it I don't know what.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Ironically, that may have been the catalyst for the way
- 18:55Speaker 1: we are now. We fully realized we've been here a
- 18:58Speaker 1: long time in our so we're older.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't have we don't try to hide that. No,
- 19:05Speaker 2: we are.
- 19:05Speaker 1: You grow, you get older, it happens to everybody, and
- 19:08Speaker 1: here we are. But we still love what we do.
- 19:10Speaker 1: We still love the music and what j are and
- 19:12Speaker 1: the lifestyle is all about and.
- 19:14Speaker 2: All the people, all of you that listen and have
- 19:16Speaker 2: over the years.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Now it's generations, yes, and it's and and actually I'm
- 19:21Speaker 1: we're both quite proud that we have now been able
- 19:24Speaker 1: to broadcast to essentially three generations of j R. Our listeners.
- 19:29Speaker 1: And we see it all the time when we go out.
- 19:31Speaker 1: We'll really see it at Earthday Birthday.
- 19:33Speaker 2: You're making my knuckles hurt with me knocking on wood
- 19:36Speaker 2: over here. I don't want the announcer's cursed the kiss
- 19:38Speaker 2: of death.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Yeah, look we ride the wave. While we ride the wave.
- 19:42Speaker 1: That's That's what I'm trying to say. And uh, you know,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I think that the day obviously comes for everyone with
- 19:49Speaker 1: whatever it is you do, wherever you do it, that
- 19:54Speaker 1: it's not gonna happen anymore. Yeah, And everybody comes to
- 19:57Speaker 1: grips with that at some point.
- 19:58Speaker 2: But and we said it before, when it comes to
- 20:00Speaker 2: that point for us, we're just gonna start doing our podcast.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Is that that is our plan. If we ever were
- 20:06Speaker 1: to suddenly disappear from my hearts, that that is our
- 20:11Speaker 1: go to plan. And obviously we would. We now have
- 20:14Speaker 1: ways to alert each and every one if you where
- 20:16Speaker 1: you can find us. Yeah, it's something, but don't read
- 20:19Speaker 1: between the lines. There's nothing amiss. Everything is good in
- 20:22Speaker 1: hunky Dory as far as we know.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and if it's not, I don't think about it
- 20:27Speaker 2: because I always say, worrying about something is praying for
- 20:31Speaker 2: it to happen.
- 20:31Speaker 1: But and we also have been doing this long enough
- 20:33Speaker 1: to realize that we have really not a lot of
- 20:37Speaker 1: control over a huge corporate entity that's going to do
- 20:41Speaker 1: what they feel is best for their company and their
- 20:43Speaker 1: game plan in any scenario.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And it's just business, and it could be they might
- 20:46Speaker 2: put us on in multiple markets. You never know, and
- 20:49Speaker 2: you don't think about it. But back to the podcast
- 20:52Speaker 2: that we'll do, it is gonna be way ballsier than
- 20:57Speaker 2: this podcast that we do now because there's certain constraints
- 21:01Speaker 2: still even though there shouldn't be with a podcast, you know,
- 21:04Speaker 2: does that make sense? And there's a lot of stories
- 21:07Speaker 2: that we can tell, and.
- 21:10Speaker 1: There's a lot of stuff that one day. I always
- 21:14Speaker 1: joke that I want to write a book, and I'm
- 21:17Speaker 1: halfway serious when I say that.
- 21:20Speaker 2: The problem is is you'd have to write the book
- 21:21Speaker 2: when we're on the air, and then they'd want to
- 21:25Speaker 2: they'd want to cut. Look, dude, Nunnery Nunner, he's on
- 21:29Speaker 2: the What's up?
- 21:30Speaker 1: Nuns a former co worker of art. He knows about
- 21:33Speaker 1: the shenanigans that went on in here.
- 21:34Speaker 2: He knows about I think he remembers a production production basket. Anyway,
- 21:41Speaker 2: see at Earthday Birthday, Sweet, we'll see out there, Nunners.
- 21:44Speaker 2: So where was I?
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't spend a lot of time worrying about
- 21:49Speaker 1: such stuff. Whatever happens happens, and that's fine by us.
- 21:53Speaker 1: It really is so. And onto Earthday Birthday, we're now
- 21:57Speaker 1: down to Jesus. It's March fifth already, and the show
- 22:01Speaker 1: has been moved to March this year. That is by design.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Even my wife said she was watching that commercial that
- 22:07Speaker 2: we shot at WESH and CW eighteen yesterday or two
- 22:11Speaker 2: days ago, and it's in March.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, March twenty first. Yeah, we kind of try to separate,
- 22:18Speaker 1: give some space between that and Rockville. It made it
- 22:21Speaker 1: a little bit less challenging to book the show and
- 22:24Speaker 1: at the same time, give.
- 22:25Speaker 2: You do both. We were both shows.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Gives you a break in between, not only from you know, shows,
- 22:31Speaker 1: but financially. Yeah, concert tickets are expensive, and you know,
- 22:37Speaker 1: we try to keep ours as reasonable as possible, and
- 22:40Speaker 1: it's ours is a one day event obviously, but we're
- 22:43Speaker 1: very excited that it's back after a one year hiatus,
- 22:45Speaker 1: and I hope you all are excited and will join us,
- 22:48Speaker 1: even though it's about a month earlier than when it
- 22:50Speaker 1: typically is.
- 22:51Speaker 2: No ver A texted back, I guess, hell, yeah, I
- 22:54Speaker 2: got stories, hell yeah yeah. What else are they gonna say? Shit?
- 23:03Speaker 1: I got sidetracked, Sorry, man, were the podcast?
- 23:08Speaker 2: I forget? Oh? The book? Yeah, you got it right,
- 23:11Speaker 2: the book. Pat. When we're currently working here because then
- 23:15Speaker 2: it's more of an outlet. But then we can't kind
- 23:18Speaker 2: of cut. No, I can't cover everything, No, we can't.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Yeah, right, That's why I'm saying at some point the
- 23:25Speaker 1: book will come when we are able to do that.
- 23:29Speaker 1: And I think it could potentially be something that somebody
- 23:33Speaker 1: who's never even heard of us might.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Enjoy reading because there'll be.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Some crap in it. Do You're gonna go, are you
- 23:40Speaker 1: kidding me?
- 23:40Speaker 2: And there'll be a lot in it you're gonna say, Wow,
- 23:43Speaker 2: that's that's relatables, very relatable.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Yeah. So we've seen a few things over the years, and.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Of course the first this is from Adam and of
- 23:55Speaker 2: course the first podcast that you would do, you would
- 23:58Speaker 2: have to do is why you got fired in the
- 24:00Speaker 2: first place? First time? With all that would be out
- 24:04Speaker 2: for sure? What did somebody else text to someone? Now?
- 24:08Speaker 2: It just it, you know, got storied down. Oh they
- 24:13Speaker 2: said something about the free ranging two cans in central Florida.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I see.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I've seen that story though too. Finally, I don't know.
- 24:21Speaker 2: I saw it up on the news this morning. I
- 24:23Speaker 2: guess there's two cans flying around? Yeah, I ate fruit
- 24:28Speaker 2: loops this morning, ironically, and a little fun fact. Another
- 24:32Speaker 2: one for you. When you eat fruit loops, if y'all know,
- 24:35Speaker 2: your dump is usually green and dying. No, I went
- 24:41Speaker 2: and I thought I didn't digest that. I digest everything
- 24:46Speaker 2: super quick, and then it hit me, I've been eating
- 24:48Speaker 2: fruit loops. Fruit loops equal green poops?
- 24:52Speaker 1: Has have fruit loops? Is that one of the cereals
- 24:55Speaker 1: that has switched from the artificial crap over to the
- 24:59Speaker 1: the I'm not saying I say it's much better for you,
- 25:02Speaker 1: but I what that was. One of the big cereal
- 25:04Speaker 1: manufacturers were the first ones on board to say they
- 25:06Speaker 1: were gonna, you know, get rid of those artificial dies
- 25:09Speaker 1: and stuff.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I don't know, there's still dye you can go check with. No,
- 25:14Speaker 2: but I just buy the big tip for any cereal leaders.
- 25:19Speaker 2: They have the big boxes at like your Costco, your Sam's,
- 25:22Speaker 2: your BJ's, and there are big industrial boxes you can
- 25:26Speaker 2: get and they come with two full bags of cereal.
- 25:29Speaker 2: They're only like seven bucks. A box of cereal is
- 25:33Speaker 2: now like eight or nine dollars.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Does cereal still have prices in the bottom?
- 25:38Speaker 2: No, No, none of them. I checked. I didn't want
- 25:41Speaker 2: to break a crown on an army man.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Dude, what a scam that was. When you're a kid,
- 25:48Speaker 1: you'd get all jacked up, you know, you get checked
- 25:50Speaker 1: up from eating all the sugar that's in the sugar,
- 25:53Speaker 1: you know, the sugar filled or cereal, and then you
- 25:57Speaker 1: bug the hell out of your parents because you heard
- 25:59Speaker 1: that there was a this and it was that or that,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and then you would get down to the bottom of
- 26:03Speaker 1: that and get the thing out.
- 26:04Speaker 2: It was just crap, a trinket, just crap. Yeah. The
- 26:09Speaker 2: deeper side of that is what a racket that was
- 26:13Speaker 2: putting that on the cereal boxes so that kids, my parents,
- 26:16Speaker 2: I figure this out now, Well, they used to let
- 26:20Speaker 2: us each each kid would be able to get one
- 26:22Speaker 2: box of cereal, and I'd make mine last all week.
- 26:25Speaker 2: And my brother Sliz would sit down with a tupperware
- 26:27Speaker 2: bowl this big and eat the entire bowl of yeah,
- 26:32Speaker 2: and then me spasm. But mine, I just make it less.
- 26:37Speaker 2: But I'm convinced that my parents, in the regular grocery
- 26:40Speaker 2: store that was at the commissary, we'd get that. I'm
- 26:43Speaker 2: convinced that they wouldn't go down the cereal aisle because
- 26:47Speaker 2: they knew they'd be broke. Although that's the racket I'm
- 26:51Speaker 2: talking about putting these prizes in boxes at kid's eye level.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Of course, it's all.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Marketing, design by design exactly, and it's not just cereal
- 27:00Speaker 1: that that whole theory grocery store. The I learned all
- 27:03Speaker 1: this work in my days at Osowski Family Foods. All
- 27:08Speaker 1: that that shelf space is hollowed ground and the various companies.
- 27:14Speaker 1: There's big bucks behind who gets what product placement, where
- 27:17Speaker 1: at what level and where it is. And you know,
- 27:19Speaker 1: if you see resets and stuff being done when you're
- 27:22Speaker 1: in a store that's not being paid for by the store,
- 27:25Speaker 1: this is some manufacturers said, you know, if you let
- 27:28Speaker 1: us bring this, this, and this in, will come in
- 27:30Speaker 1: and we'll be more than happy to reset your entire
- 27:32Speaker 1: whatever section, this, this, and this is going into. That's crazy, man,
- 27:37Speaker 1: But you're absolutely right. You know, you put that kid
- 27:39Speaker 1: stuff at eye level where the kids are going to
- 27:41Speaker 1: get it, and it's the same for the grown up stuff.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Man, Just like the candy bars at check out.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Stack of beer that's on sale right when you walk
- 27:51Speaker 1: in the door.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Uh huh, strawberries right now, and then the beer is
- 27:55Speaker 2: on the backside, right, Jeff said, bringing my twelve years
- 28:00Speaker 2: old to our first concert Earthday Birthday. See you there,
- 28:04Speaker 2: I say, And we get this question every year. What's
- 28:07Speaker 2: a good age to bring your kid to Earthday Birthday?
- 28:09Speaker 2: How old should they be? I usually shooting at twelve range,
- 28:13Speaker 2: don't you think? Pat? I shoot?
- 28:15Speaker 1: And you're the parent and you know your kid. But
- 28:17Speaker 1: knowing what goes on at Earthday Birthday and that it's
- 28:20Speaker 1: a long day, the last thing we would hope for
- 28:22Speaker 1: any of you is to get there and then all
- 28:24Speaker 1: of a sudden your kid is out of gas and
- 28:26Speaker 1: that's going to drag you down and you're gonna.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Have to split.
- 28:29Speaker 1: So I would take all of that into consideration. You
- 28:32Speaker 1: know your kid better than we ever will. And if
- 28:35Speaker 1: they're the type that is up for the party, not no,
- 28:39Speaker 1: not to party, you know what I mean.
- 28:41Speaker 2: If they can handle language and the duration, yeah, duration.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Pot smell not that's anyway. Those are all things that
- 28:50Speaker 1: are going to be there. We're not trying to hide
- 28:51Speaker 1: it or sugarcoat it. So it's your call.
- 28:54Speaker 2: But yeah, real.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Young young kids, we've seen it. It's not like it's
- 28:58Speaker 1: band or just dude.
- 29:00Speaker 2: When remember when the guy and his wife changed their
- 29:03Speaker 2: baby on n V I p on a client table.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Never forget it. Well done.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I think there was some green poop there too.
- 29:13Speaker 2: It wasn't actually it wasn't who I just called out.
- 29:17Speaker 2: That was somebody totally different. Sure, Beverly. Beverly d md
- 29:21Speaker 2: in and said, I remember I remember getting a Josie
- 29:23Speaker 2: and the Pussycats forty five off the back and it played.
- 29:27Speaker 2: See that's a good prize on a cereal box.
- 29:31Speaker 1: That was those those are the ones that were like
- 29:34Speaker 1: really uh floppy though, and you're like, you would get
- 29:36Speaker 1: that went back when you played records and you're like,
- 29:38Speaker 1: how could this thing actually play? It was a soft
- 29:41Speaker 1: like type record. Yeah, that's wild, wild.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Wow, all the blasts from the past. I think we
- 29:48Speaker 2: got a head out. I'm gonna go check my production box. No,
- 29:53Speaker 2: I'm kidding. I didn't. I didn't say that. Hey, buddy,
- 29:56Speaker 2: I said that, all right. Ian said, bringing my ten
- 30:02Speaker 2: year old son with me metal and he'll rock. They'll
- 30:05Speaker 2: blank out said. Everybody knows their parent totally. You're the parent,
- 30:11Speaker 2: you know, I mean, knows their kid. It's gonna be
- 30:13Speaker 2: a good time. We'll see you there, all right.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Thank you for checking out this week's Off the Air podcast.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Like I said, we usually update these every Thursday for
- 30:21Speaker 1: the most part year round. Tell somebody about it, so
- 30:24Speaker 1: the more the merrier. That's the way we look at things,
- 30:27Speaker 1: all right.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Or share it with somebody, you could just you know,
- 30:30Speaker 2: copy paste the link.
- 30:32Speaker 1: All right, we'll get together again soon. Thanks for checking
- 30:35Speaker 1: it out. We'll see you
