- Lucas: Luna, welcome back! Are you ready for another Telugu lesson? Luna: Absolutely! I've been practicing our numbers and I can count to ten now — నాలుగు, ఐదు, ఆరు… oh wait, that's out of order. Lucas: That's okay, you'll get it. Today let's talk about something practical — what to say when you're feeling sick, specifically with a fever. Luna: Oh, that's useful. I remember we learned how to say body parts and pain phrases. Can we say 'I have a fever'? Lucas: Exactly. In Telugu, 'I have a fever' is నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. Let's break it down: నాకు means 'to me', జ్వరం means 'fever', వచ్చింది means 'came'. So literally 'fever came to me'. Luna: నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. That's a mouthful. నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. Lucas: Perfect! You've got it. Now, if you want to say 'the fever is high', you say జ్వరం ఎక్కువగా ఉంది. జ్వరం is fever, ఎక్కువగా means 'highly' or 'a lot', and ఉంది means 'is'. Luna: జ్వరం ఎక్కువగా ఉంది. So that's useful when you're telling a doctor. Lucas: Right. And if the fever has gone down, you can say జ్వరం తగ్గింది. తగ్గింది means 'reduced' or 'came down'. Luna: Oh, that's good to know. జ్వరం తగ్గింది. So if I'm feeling better, I can say that. Lucas: Exactly. And one more — if you don't have a fever, you say నాకు జ్వరం లేదు. లేదు means 'no' or 'not'. Luna: నాకు జ్వరం లేదు. Great, so I can tell people I'm fine. Lucas: Let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're at a clinic. The doctor asks you ఏమి సమస్య? — what's the problem? You say నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది, జ్వరం ఎక్కువగా ఉంది. Luna: నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది, జ్వరం ఎక్కువగా ఉంది. Lucas: Then the doctor gives you medicine. Later you feel better and say జ్వరం తగ్గింది. Luna: జ్వరం తగ్గింది. That's so satisfying to say. Lucas: You know, it's conversations like these where a resource like Fexingo really shines.
