Because you never know when you'll need to buy new shoes in Sweden. Luna: Oh, I love shoe shopping. But I've never done it in Swedish. This should be fun. Lucas: So first, you walk into the store and say: Jag skulle vilja ha ett par skor. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha ett par skor. That means 'I would like a pair of shoes.' Right? Lucas: Exactly. Let's break it down. Jag skulle vilja ha — I would like to have. Ett par — a pair. Skor — shoes. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha ett par skor. Got it. Lucas: Then the salesperson might ask: Vilken storlek har du? Luna: Vilken storlek har du? That's 'What size do you have?'. Lucas: Yes. Storlek means size. So you answer: Jag har storlek 38. Luna: Jag har storlek 38. I have size 38. Lucas: Perfect. Then you might want to try them on. You say: Får jag prova dem? Luna: Får jag prova dem? 'May I try them on?' Prova means try. Lucas: Right. And if they fit well, you say: De passar bra. Luna: De passar bra. They fit well. Passar is 'fit'. Lucas: And finally, if you want to buy them: Jag tar dem. Luna: Jag tar dem. 'I'll take them.' Simple and direct. Lucas: Let's practice the whole conversation. Imagine you're at the store. Luna: Okay. Jag skulle vilja ha ett par skor. Lucas: Vilken storlek har du? Luna: Jag har storlek 38. Lucas: Här är ett par. Vill du prova? Luna: Ja, får jag prova dem? Lucas: Självklart. Luna: De passar bra. Jag tar dem. Lucas: Great job, Luna. That's a full shoe-buying conversation.
