Transcript
- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another tiny lesson? Lucas: Absolutely. Today we're visiting the pharmacy again, but this time for something we all need at some point: bandages. Luna: Oh, like when you cut your finger while cooking? That happened to me last week. Lucas: Exactly. So let's learn how to ask for a bandage in Dutch. The word is 'pleister'. Luna: Pleister. Lucas: Good. And if you want to say 'I'm looking for a bandage', you say: Ik zoek een pleister. Luna: Ik zoek een pleister. Lucas: Perfect. Or you can say 'I need a bandage': Ik heb een pleister nodig. Luna: Ik heb een pleister nodig. Lucas: Great. Now, if you need it for your finger, you say: Voor mijn vinger. Luna: Voor mijn vinger. That's handy. Lucas: Exactly. Let's put it together. Imagine you walk into the pharmacy and say: Ik zoek een pleister. Luna: Ik zoek een pleister. Lucas: The pharmacist might ask: Waar is het voor? So you say: Voor mijn vinger. Luna: Voor mijn vinger. Lucas: Then they'll show you some options. You can ask: Hoeveel kost een pleister? Luna: Hoeveel kost een pleister? That's 'how much does a bandage cost?' Lucas: Right. And if you want to buy a box of bandages, you say: Ik neem een doosje pleisters. Luna: Ik neem een doosje pleisters. Lucas: And if you need help, remember from Episode 150: Kunt u mij helpen? Luna: Kunt u mij helpen? That's a good one to have. Lucas: Let's practice with a little scene. I'm the pharmacist. You come in and say... Luna: Ik zoek een pleister. Lucas: Goedemorgen. Waar is het voor? Luna: Voor mijn vinger. Lucas: Hier is een doosje pleisters. Dat is twee euro. Luna: Ik neem het. Dank u wel. Lucas: Excellent. You handled that well, Luna. Luna: Thanks. I feel like I could actually do that now. Lucas: That's the goal. And if you're learning Dutch with us, you might be making real progress too. Luna: Yeah, Fexingo really helps with these everyday situations. Lucas: If it's been helpful for you, and you'd like to support the show so we can keep making it ad-free, you can buy us a coffee at buymeacoffee.com/fexingo. Luna: That's a nice way to say thanks. Every little bit helps. Lucas: Absolutely. Now, let's get back to bandages. Another useful phrase: Ik heb een pleister nodig. Luna: Ik heb een pleister nodig. Lucas: Remember, 'pleister' is one bandage. If you want multiple, you say 'pleisters'. Luna: So 'Ik neem een doosje pleisters' — a box of bandages. Lucas: Exactly. And if you forget the word, you can always ask: Kunt u mij helpen? Luna: Kunt u mij helpen? That's a lifesaver. Lucas: Let's run through all the phrases one more time. Listen and repeat if you like. Ik zoek een pleister. Luna: Ik zoek een pleister. Lucas: Ik heb een pleister nodig. Luna: Ik heb een pleister nodig. Lucas: Voor mijn vinger. Luna: Voor mijn vinger. Lucas: Hoeveel kost een pleister? Luna: Hoeveel kost een pleister? Lucas: Ik neem een doosje pleisters. Luna: Ik neem een doosje pleisters. Lucas: And of course, Kunt u mij helpen? Luna: Kunt u mij helpen? Lucas: Great work today, Luna. You've got this. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. It feels good to be able to handle these situations. Lucas: That's Fexingo's goal — practical language you can use. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time. Luna: Tot ziens! Lucas: Doei!
