- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist and also happened to.
- 0:10Be a. Farmer, this is my chicken coop
- 0:12and I come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning to one of the most humid mornings I
- 0:32have felt here in quite some time.
- 0:35I mean, it's been humid, but this is like walking out into a
- 0:38wall that just engulfs your body.
- 0:42And the purpose of today's talk is all about the fact that when
- 0:48you walk into something, you've got to decide what you make it
- 0:51mean. So I opened the door to come
- 0:53out. I was going to record something
- 0:54completely different. But Mother Nature once again
- 0:57provided me with the perfect conversation.
- 0:59And I walked out and I've got like leggings on and 'cause I
- 1:03was working out and I've got, you know, a, a little tank top
- 1:07and a little like zipper jacket that I just 'cause I'm always
- 1:11cold and air conditioning. I walked outside and it feels
- 1:14like I walked into this like almost like a a sauna.
- 1:19It's so hot already and it's so sticky and it's so gross.
- 1:23Like that's the, the initial feeling and I thought to myself
- 1:28and instantaneously I was like, that's so interesting how one
- 1:33condition can make me like have a complete visceral reaction.
- 1:38Like my head thought it, my body thought it, I was engulfed in
- 1:42it. How it's just like, boom, there,
- 1:44you there you have it and you, you just recognize it
- 1:49immediately. And then I stopped and I said,
- 1:53wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 1:55This is not as bad as you are making it.
- 1:58Now stop. Pull yourself back.
- 2:00It's still dark. It's not that unpleasant.
- 2:03It's not drying your skin out. And I went through this whole
- 2:06thing about how I could change the way I was focusing on it,
- 2:10how I could change the way I felt, what my I could shift.
- 2:13And as soon as I did that, I started to feel better.
- 2:16As soon as I changed that, I started to go, Oh, okay, okay,
- 2:20all right, all right, I'm regrouping, I'm regrouping.
- 2:22And then I came outside and it didn't feel as, you know, I
- 2:27mean, I came further outside because I was walking.
- 2:29I came into the yard and I was like, Oh, this doesn't feel as
- 2:33awful as I thought because my body started to adjust.
- 2:37Or was it that my mind was adjusting?
- 2:40That's the big question. So I sat and I paused.
- 2:44I literally like sat down on this little bench we have.
- 2:46And I was like, wait a second, Is my mind adjusting my body or
- 2:51is my body adjusting my mind? Because they're so easy to be
- 2:55intertwined, they easily work together.
- 2:57They're supposed to work together and this is in the good
- 3:01for the greater good or your greater good or the the demise.
- 3:06Because I could sit there and I could have dwelled on the bad
- 3:08one and my body could have gotten more and more upset.
- 3:10I would have broken out and sweat whatever it might have
- 3:13been. And I could have panicked in
- 3:15some way. And we do that in certain
- 3:18situations because we want our body gets wound up and then our,
- 3:22you know, our mind goes along with it and vice versa.
- 3:25So this morning I sat and had to decode it and I think, OK, this
- 3:30is what I think happened is that as soon as I said no and my
- 3:34brain kicked in to shifting the pattern, all of a sudden my body
- 3:38responded. And it was great because now I
- 3:41don't feel hot or sticky or anything.
- 3:44I just feel comfortable. I'm like totally comfortable
- 3:47right this minute doing this, pacing back and forth and again,
- 3:52they're intertwined. So the whole point of today is
- 3:55to just check and say, okay, is my body leading me?
- 4:00Is my mind leading me? They're working together, but
- 4:03somebody is in charge and it might just be think of it like
- 4:06the scales of justice when they, you know, that big.
- 4:10For those of you who have never seen the scales of justice, I
- 4:13was like there's weights on both sides, scales on both sides and
- 4:171 tips more than the other and and that you know they may be
- 4:20slightly even but one is always. Slightly more.
- 4:24Than the other typically OK, so you have to look and see
- 4:27someone's leading. One of those things is leading.
- 4:30So I challenge you figure that out, see which one it is because
- 4:34once you know that then you can start to control it.
- 4:36And I'm a big fan, obviously, of letting my body be signals, but
- 4:41my brain has to choose. I want to actively choose
- 4:45because that's where the power comes in.
- 4:47When you can truly stop and pause and actively choose, then
- 4:51it's going to be better. And you can make sure you're
- 4:54aligned. And you can also say, OK,
- 4:57sometimes I'm not choosing the right thing.
- 4:59Sometimes I don't want this anymore.
- 5:00And you can at least think it through.
- 5:02All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:05will see you all tomorrow. Bye.
