Transcript
- 0:12Oh my gosh, I feel kind of nervous.
- 0:14Is this what it's like to be on the other side?
- 0:16And it reflecting back, it makes me smile because I had the
- 0:20audacity to start a podcast when I was in my first trimester with
- 0:25Brody in my stomach. Who does that in such a curious
- 0:28person? And I love hearing people's
- 0:30stories. And I do that in real life.
- 0:32But and I don't often allow people the opportunity to turn
- 0:34it back around. I cannot believe that I get to
- 0:38interview people like you interview people like some of
- 0:41the guests we've had on recently.
- 0:42Mindy Crawford used to work for Jillian Harris, who's now doing
- 0:45human design. Who's a mom?
- 0:46Who's a human? So insane to me.
- 0:49Follow a small breadcrumb and see what happens.
- 0:57Sarah Chapman Funston Hi, thanks for joining me on the all
- 1:01figured out podcast. Truly being dragged in little
- 1:05peek behind the curtain. We had time in our beautiful
- 1:10set. If you're watching this on
- 1:11YouTube, welcome welcome to the video land.
- 1:14This girl starts an audio podcast and then all of a sudden
- 1:17she's like, OK, we're we're making full production.
- 1:20Anyways. You have been so gracious and
- 1:22been helping me the last couple days to produce this whole
- 1:25fiasco and it's been such a. Pleasure.
- 1:26Fun. And we were talking about
- 1:29turning the mic around because I like to interview people and
- 1:32grill people and get to know them.
- 1:34And you were kind of sharing, hey, do people know about you?
- 1:39Yeah, I like to preach that to all my clients is like everyone
- 1:42wants to know about what makes you tick, and you're really good
- 1:45at getting things out of people, so let's see what we can get out
- 1:48of you. God.
- 1:51OK, we're going to start and we're kind of new friends.
- 1:55I feel like we became fast friends and we say that we're
- 1:57very alike and we align lots of different ways and we both moms
- 2:01and doing our own thing. So as someone who's a new kind
- 2:06of friend to you, I want to know a little bit more about what's
- 2:10been going on with you, especially in the last two years
- 2:12since you started this podcast, because I don't think you've
- 2:14caught everyone up on the changes.
- 2:16You had one baby, now you have two.
- 2:18What's different and what's the same?
- 2:21Oh my gosh, I feel kind of nervous.
- 2:23This is what people Is this what it's like to be on the other
- 2:25side? Probably, yeah.
- 2:28It's clammy. Um, yes, OK, that's a great
- 2:32question. So I started the podcast and in
- 2:35one of my first, I think it was episode 3 or two or something, I
- 2:38think I had shared my story up to that point.
- 2:41And so that's a great question because since then a lot's.
- 2:44Happened to yours is a lifetime, especially when you have little.
- 2:47Kids, I mean, I've grew an entire human 10 fingers, 10
- 2:51toes, they're all there. They're still there and he's 2
- 2:55now. And so I the reflecting back, it
- 2:59makes me smile because I had the audacity or I don't even know
- 3:04what word I'd use. But I decided to start a podcast
- 3:07when I was in my first trimester with Brody in my.
- 3:10First trimester, yes. I didn't realize it does that.
- 3:13Yeah, as a mom who does that? Yeah, especially with a toddler
- 3:17running around. Weird.
- 3:19What was I thinking? Feeling.
- 3:20Exhausted. Yeah, but I think back on that
- 3:23and I'm like, I'm so proud of that.
- 3:26Yeah. I think it's a funny fact.
- 3:28I truly wasn't doing it in the moment to be like, oh, this is
- 3:31going to make a good story one day.
- 3:32I just had this, I needed to get this out there.
- 3:37And there was so many. No, not OK.
- 3:39You know what I was going to say?
- 3:40There's so many people, so many naysayers.
- 3:42There weren't actually any naysayers.
- 3:44There was just the my perceived judgments of what others might
- 3:48think. Yeah, which is such a theme in
- 3:50my life. And I was like, who am I to have
- 3:53a podcast, whom I to put this out there?
- 3:56I'm only a mom of one. Like I had a 2 year old.
- 4:00It's not like I'm like some veteran mom or anything like
- 4:02that. But then I was working with a
- 4:05copywriter and she came up with the name.
- 4:07I'll figure it out. And it came in my inbox.
- 4:10She was like, what about this? And I was like, fuck, yeah,
- 4:13that's it. Because it's.
- 4:14And then people, it was like I was having conversations.
- 4:17You know, you start floating the name, which you should never do
- 4:19in you're pregnant because I started floating the name.
- 4:21Some people were like, but do you need to put like a question
- 4:24mark? Because like, are you saying
- 4:25that you have it all figured? I'm like, no, I'm if you know
- 4:28me, you know, I'm not saying I have it all figured out.
- 4:29I have nothing figured out. I've spilled coffee like always
- 4:32spilling, always spilling. And just, yeah, it was anyway.
- 4:37So it was just this like this thing that I had to birth.
- 4:40And it's so fun to think back and look back and listen back to
- 4:43that those early days of the podcast where I was, Oh my gosh,
- 4:48literally everyone who says I actually was in my closet the
- 4:51first couple of recordings because I thought that I needed
- 4:53the sound to be muffled by the clothes, but I actually had a
- 4:57really great mic. So it turned out I didn't need
- 4:59to do that and I was just learning as I went.
- 5:02So in the last two years, to answer your question, it's been
- 5:05such a fun journey of like my I guess that I had on recently,
- 5:09Christine was talking about just following the bread crumbs like
- 5:14people. The number one question that I
- 5:16got asked in those early days and sometimes still get asked in
- 5:18this podcast. Oh, so So what?
- 5:21How are you making money with it?
- 5:22Are you making money with it yet?
- 5:23No, not kidding. Every time.
- 5:26And that I think people forget that a podcast from a marketing
- 5:29perspective is a long game. Oht Long.
- 5:33And if you're starting it just to make money, then you're not
- 5:35going to build authentic stories the way that you've done it,
- 5:38because then you don't care about what the purposes are,
- 5:41what the audience is taking away from it.
- 5:44And there's been breaks, right? Like even actually right now I'm
- 5:46in a bit of a, a break accidentally because, you know,
- 5:50I don't necessarily have the perfect systems in place.
- 5:52I don't have the perfect team in place.
- 5:54It's coming. I mean, I have this perfect team
- 5:56here, of course is doing the video, but it's just I'm, I'm so
- 6:01much more into putting out conversations and doing it with
- 6:05quality. My word of the year I've talked
- 6:06about on the show is quality and that was part of this is doing
- 6:10the video side of it and really upping my game and getting out
- 6:13of my it's not out of my comfort zone.
- 6:15Let's be real. I love him like I love the
- 6:16camera, but but it's. Different, though, than sitting
- 6:19at your desk. At yeah, upping it like I'm not
- 6:21wearing PJ bottoms on them, you know, on the bottom.
- 6:23I like shape my legs like so like big things.
- 6:27So it's been such a fun journey and exploration.
- 6:29And so I guess the in the last two years, it's been discovering
- 6:33who I am as a mom of two and what it looks like to be an
- 6:38entrepreneur with two kids and flexing in and out.
- 6:43And how much rigidity do we need?
- 6:44How much routine, how much rhythm?
- 6:46Like I preach about rhythms over routines and what are our
- 6:50rhythms like a day like today at this week, it's, it's a big
- 6:54week. We've got 2 back-to-back 8 hour
- 6:56days of shooting and it's, it's a lot.
- 6:59So I got some meal delivery. Like this is, we're not talking
- 7:02fresh prep where you have to like cook it.
- 7:04It's like I've learned that get ahead of it and like, yeah,
- 7:08treat yourself, you know, make things easier.
- 7:10And so it's been so much fun. I'm just like continuing to wink
- 7:14wink, figure it out as I go. And it's been, it's been such a
- 7:18blast. And I'm so happy that I tried
- 7:21it. And if I didn't like this and I
- 7:23didn't like this platform, this medium, then whatever.
- 7:26You know, I was listening actually to the skinny
- 7:27confidential this morning. Piers Morgan was on it.
- 7:30Controversial individual for sure.
- 7:33It was an incredible conversation.
- 7:35He had some really incredible wisdom.
- 7:37And he was talking about just that old saying of like all the
- 7:41failures. He's like, I've had so many
- 7:42failures in my life. You don't try it, You don't try
- 7:44things out. Then what are you going to, you
- 7:47know, be on your deathbed and be like, oh, I wish, I wish I did
- 7:49less. No, you know, you tried more
- 7:51things and who cares if you tried the thing and you don't
- 7:54like it and you you shelve it. But I'm so happy and grateful
- 7:59that this is something that I have found and and stumbled into
- 8:03and it just, yeah, it's been, it's been such a pleasure.
- 8:07When a lot of the conversations you're having are so interesting
- 8:09and I like, one thing I see when I'm listening to podcasts is I
- 8:12hear a lot of great conversations with people, you
- 8:15know, in North America or across the world.
- 8:17But it's so fun to listen to conversations about people who
- 8:21are experts in their field who live here with us because it
- 8:24feels, I don't know, more like you can connect to them more
- 8:27because, you know, you know, that they have a similar
- 8:30lifestyle to you. Like, they're in it.
- 8:31You know, they have all the same values as as we do here.
- 8:35And there's something to be said about seeking those people out
- 8:38and finding people we didn't know are doing really cool
- 8:41things here. And not that you can't, you
- 8:44know, get on Zoom and do calls with anyone, but the ones I
- 8:46think that I've liked the most that you've done are the ones
- 8:48that are Canadian and who really share that place in the world
- 8:54with us. Because sometimes there's a lot
- 8:55of disconnect, like, oh, this doesn't apply to me or this
- 8:58person doesn't share my values as much.
- 9:00So I don't know if I'm going to take as much out of it.
- 9:01It's so true. That's a great point.
- 9:03Even the celebrity like I love having a celebrity podcast on
- 9:05the roster to just, you know, just numb out and have fun and
- 9:08just enjoy whatever enjoy. But it's true when it's those
- 9:11ones where you really want to be inspired.
- 9:13I want to learn something. Sometimes if there's too big of
- 9:15a gap from where you are and where that person is, you
- 9:18automatically discount yourself discredit.
- 9:20Yeah, that is even applicable to you.
- 9:22So that's an incredible point. And I should mention for those
- 9:24listening, I introduced Sarah on the podcast, which will probably
- 9:28be out before this and or maybe not, I don't know.
- 9:30But anyways, regardless, we will somehow make a link happen in
- 9:33the show so you can listen to Sarah.
- 9:34So she's one of those people who's had a big career pivot.
- 9:37She's got two kids. She's a little bit ahead of me
- 9:39and the motherhood journey. And it's it's so cool to just
- 9:41hear, just hear women and parents talk about their
- 9:45experience and making it all work.
- 9:47Yeah. Or not.
- 9:48Yeah, I mean, some of it's, it's day-to-day struggles.
- 9:51One thing works one day and the next day not so much.
- 9:53Yeah. So yeah.
- 9:55So tell me a little bit more about like, how are you sticking
- 9:59with this? Because I know that's one thing.
- 10:01Like, podcasting is a huge lift. It's something that takes a lot
- 10:05of time and money and effort. How with all the other stuff you
- 10:12have going on with your clients and with your speaking
- 10:14opportunities, how did you stick with this so well?
- 10:17Because I think we all have seen those podcasts where they
- 10:20launched and it's a big splash and then like, weren't we're.
- 10:22We're not naming the name like. That yeah, yeah, well, I've, I
- 10:26know a lot of podcasts have done that and like, you know, they do
- 10:28the big shoot and all the like from marketing person.
- 10:31I'm always watching like that's a lot of promotional money and
- 10:33marketing you put into this and then six months later like 2
- 10:35episodes have come out. But you are so consistent, so
- 10:39how do you do that? Well, thank you.
- 10:40I should first say thank you because it doesn't always feel
- 10:43that way and it's not always actually consistent.
- 10:46And in my head immediately I wanted to say to you, oh, but I
- 10:50sometimes I take a break and no, not like.
- 10:52You don't need to. You don't need to explain.
- 10:53Yourself. No, you don't need to explain
- 10:55yourself. And OK, two things are coming to
- 10:58mind #1 selfishly, I forget and love it.
- 11:02I cannot believe that I get to interview people like you,
- 11:07interview people like some of the guests we've had on
- 11:09recently. Mindy Crawford used to work for
- 11:11Jillian Harris, who's now doing human design.
- 11:13Who's a mom? Who's a human?
- 11:15Yourself was so good. It was it's just so insane to me
- 11:19and like a pinch me feeling that I get to have conversations and
- 11:24just completely grill and drill down like in the best way
- 11:27possible into these people who have such interesting stories
- 11:31come such a curious person. And I love hearing people's
- 11:34stories and I do that in real life, but and I don't often
- 11:37allow people the opportunity to turn it back around.
- 11:39So the fact that I actually get to just do this, this is like
- 11:42what you're supposed to do. Yeah, Like, incredible.
- 11:44Like, I enjoy it so much. And then the second thing is
- 11:47coming up is there's, there's a dad who's a friend of mine.
- 11:54And twice now he has come up to me and like given me a huge hug
- 11:58and has thanked me because listening to some of the early
- 12:01days of the podcast inspired him to leave his really comfortable
- 12:06corporate job and become an entrepreneur.
- 12:09And work in a yeah, work in a in a small business with business
- 12:14partner and within six months or something he was surpassing his
- 12:18income of his other goal like of his goals he's building a
- 12:22business he's. Probably happier.
- 12:24I'm trying to get him on the podcast, but he's like, why me?
- 12:27Why now? It's incredible the number of
- 12:28people that say that when you're like, I see so much in you, you
- 12:32know who you are if you're listening and I think.
- 12:34I said that when we did ours. Yes.
- 12:35Like who wants to listen to? Me totally.
- 12:38And it's just man hearings, hearing stories like that, that
- 12:41like 1 episode one rambling where I'm like, what the hell
- 12:45did I even just say or what was this episode even about?
- 12:48You know, sometimes they're kind of random episodes where I have
- 12:51guests who I just think you're going to be incredible on a mic.
- 12:53They haven't really interesting advertiser story to tell.
- 12:56I don't really know what the end game with it is, but I just
- 12:58follow that bread crumb and it's so cool that people who come
- 13:02back like that was such a great episode.
- 13:03No. And in my head I'm like, oh,
- 13:04that was a pretty random one. That was.
- 13:06Broke but like like it went off I.
- 13:07Loved it. But yeah, it was pretty rogue.
- 13:09I didn't even know if we talked about parenting.
- 13:11I don't even know if we talked about having kids.
- 13:13Like, you know, sometimes I'm like, oh, I didn't even ask the
- 13:15person about like their kids or whatever.
- 13:18You have to go where the conversation takes you,
- 13:19otherwise it's too contrived. You mean like, OK, we're going
- 13:22to stop this great conversation. I'm going to steer it back over.
- 13:24Here, yes, totally. And so I think it's just those
- 13:27two things. It's like doing this because I
- 13:29would I would continue to do it for free.
- 13:32It does take a lot, but I love it so much that this this could
- 13:36be something that I could see myself doing as a hobby, but I
- 13:40won't because I'm a businesswoman.
- 13:41Yeah. And then just hearing like the
- 13:44impact, even that one person, even if it was just him and
- 13:46there's been other people who have shared stories and it's, I,
- 13:50I can't believe that it's, it's such a privilege to be in
- 13:53people's ears and, and supporting that.
- 13:55Well, it's not surprising because you're very wise and you
- 13:58can create advice and you come from a place of expertise.
- 14:01So I think. And that's why like even just
- 14:04the fact that people say yes when you ask them to come on
- 14:07should take great stock in that because if they didn't see the
- 14:10value in what you're offering and what the opportunities
- 14:14offering them, then they would say no.
- 14:17They'd be like, no thanks, everyone.
- 14:18The time is a commodity. Like time is money.
- 14:21And then we all are busy. Yes.
- 14:23So I think that that's a lot. So the day-to-day when you are,
- 14:27you know, juggling between like, the kids and podcasting and your
- 14:31marriage, what's the like percentage like for someone who
- 14:35may be thinking like, oh, do I want to start doing something
- 14:37like this or I want to start something on the side, but I
- 14:39feel like I don't have the time. How do you allocate that time to
- 14:43make sure that it's not getting lost, but that you still have
- 14:46time for everything else that's important?
- 14:47That's such a hard question. Hmm it changes all the time and
- 14:58I think this thread of trying something and being OK and
- 15:02willing and being flexible in your mind to pivot and try to
- 15:05recalibrate and try something new or try something in a
- 15:07different way is just the money. That is where it's at.
- 15:11Follow a small bread crumb and see what happens.
- 15:14Like do a small test like you said.
- 15:16If someone wants to side hustle, don't, you know, don't go into
- 15:21it and be like, OK, I need to replace my income next month.
- 15:23Be like, do I even enjoy this? Christine Coughlin, who was on
- 15:28the show, I interviewed her yesterday, which will come out
- 15:31and she talked about how she was like, oh, maybe I'll do some
- 15:34furniture restoration. She was like, I'm out there
- 15:36sanding. I'm all geared up just like, I
- 15:38hated it. And she's like, cool.
- 15:40I wrote a blog post about it and like, I wasn't going to ever do
- 15:43furniture restoration again. And I was like, yes, like that
- 15:46is the best. Sure.
- 15:48Are some things harder to test out?
- 15:50Yes. Are there people that you can
- 15:53ask about their day-to-day? Like do you want to be a lawyer
- 15:56in your 40? Like a client that I once had, I
- 15:57always talk about great, go test that out in a really easy way.
- 16:03Go talk to some people who are. You can find a lawyer to talk
- 16:07to. What's your day-to-day like?
- 16:08Oh, you. There's a lot of reading.
- 16:09I don't really like reading. I don't love that.
- 16:11OK, maybe not for you, right? I'm sitting on at a desk 24/7.
- 16:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 16:16That's so funny you say that because I grew up with a mom who
- 16:19was so passionate about the power of an informational
- 16:23interview, which is what you're talking about.
- 16:25And like, yeah, like, it doesn't.
- 16:28What's the worst someone can say is like, I don't have time for
- 16:30that. But usually people are happy to
- 16:31help 100. Percent.
- 16:33I think I've said that to you before.
- 16:34Like all you have to do is ask. And usually people are like,
- 16:36yeah, of course I would love to do that.
- 16:38Or do you know someone who does this like that?
- 16:42I, that's kind of, I feel like what you're kind of doing with
- 16:45the podcast, but people don't have to put themselves out there
- 16:47to do it. So maybe to give them an idea of
- 16:50like this is what it would be like to go and ask those curious
- 16:52questions. So maybe that will give them the
- 16:55courage to go and do it in real life with a specialist that you
- 16:59haven't interviewed yet or someone that they know
- 17:00personally because you're kind of giving them that without
- 17:03having to like, you know, if they're nervous to ask for help
- 17:07or whatever. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:08Thanks for saying that. And I think that that's going
- 17:11back to the day-to-day and how it's all working and how we're,
- 17:13you know, we make it work. Like I've said so many times, it
- 17:16is all about continuing to recalibrate and look at where
- 17:19you're at, what you need and testing it out.
- 17:21For us, it has been a real finesse of looking at, OK, this
- 17:26is what I think I want it to look like and testing out that
- 17:30as a rhythm. So, OK, I think this is what
- 17:32this is what it's gonna be. It's gonna look like this.
- 17:34And when I say rhythm, schedule, routine, I know it's semantics,
- 17:37but I, I save rhythm because, and I always talk about this,
- 17:40about how it's, it needs to be flexible.
- 17:42Like a conductor. You are the conductor and you
- 17:45can ebb and flow. If you remember, like, you know,
- 17:47grade school music class, you're learning about like the
- 17:50crescendo, the decrescendo, like making something loud or bigger
- 17:53or softening, like that's how humans work.
- 17:56And so treating your life as that.
- 17:58And I've really had to tap into that because I like going
- 18:01really, I talk fast. I like doing things fast.
- 18:03That's why I spoke like coffee everywhere.
- 18:05And it's like it just having to really think about like, OK, if
- 18:11this, then that. So like, OK, like always say
- 18:13like, what is the plan when your kids get sick?
- 18:16If you're constantly feeling like that is the bane of your
- 18:19existence, then that is something you need to look at
- 18:20and you need to put a plan in place.
- 18:22It's so hard, so hard, I know, because not everyone has family
- 18:25in town. Not everybody has the means to
- 18:27hire support and have that person on standby.
- 18:29But really like, is it having discussions with your manager to
- 18:32be like, listen, my partner and I are going to trade off.
- 18:35So every so every other time my kid gets sick, I'm going to be
- 18:38there just just opening those dialogues, right?
- 18:40And so for us, the way it's kind of looked in the last two years
- 18:43is really thinking about OK on or for us, I should say for me,
- 18:48because those, my working style is a little all over the place.
- 18:51Like I'm definitely more on the creative side.
- 18:53I can be buttoned down, but it takes a lot of my energy.
- 18:55And So what I've had to start doing is creating systems in
- 18:59place, I guess for myself that are like the defaults and then
- 19:02having rhythms within that. So my default Monday is no
- 19:04meetings with clients, but I do Podcast 2, at least two podcast
- 19:08recordings in the afternoon, which are slotted.
- 19:10So if someone's going to book in for a podcast recording, it
- 19:13would be on Monday. Yeah, sometimes it's done.
- 19:15Sometimes it's too, sometimes it's one on Wednesdays.
- 19:18When I do my VIP days with my clients, I go to the same
- 19:21breakfast spot. If we're doing it in person, we
- 19:23know the same breakfast spot and we go to my coworking space.
- 19:26I booked the same room. This is so new for me.
- 19:29I am, I love novelty. I love a sense of newness.
- 19:32I love changing things up. However, I realized in this
- 19:36phase of life, things need to be a bit more streamlined.
- 19:39Yeah. And so again, the rhythm is if
- 19:42I'm going to have VIP day with A1 on one client, it's going to
- 19:45be on a Wednesday. It's going to be in this way.
- 19:46But it's not always going to be that happen that way.
- 19:48So it's like an 80% of the time it works that way and it's the
- 19:51default. The 20% of the time, maybe it's
- 19:54on a Friday because like they really, you know, they don't
- 19:56have to care whatever. And that's been awesome.
- 19:59And I think that there's just real beauty in that duality of
- 20:02saying, OK, this is the structure, this is the default.
- 20:05This is the way we're thinking it's going to work.
- 20:07It would be like having, you know, days of the week for for
- 20:10meals or sex or whatever. If you've got like the defaults
- 20:15and then like it happens sometimes, it doesn't happen
- 20:17sometimes. And I think that's just, that's
- 20:19been a huge learning, especially since having two kids, which let
- 20:23me say, I thought that it was like, yeah, one to two,
- 20:26whatever. It's a little bit harder, a
- 20:28little bit harder. Yeah.
- 20:29Yeah, it is like double. What does more?
- 20:32Schedules and that's something that like what you said really
- 20:34resonated with me because I'm thinking forward to like my
- 20:37right now my kids are six and three and ones in school and
- 20:40ones not and ones in more activities in the other.
- 20:42And I'm thinking like, OK, when they're both in activities,
- 20:45how's that going to work? Like we're still trying to milk
- 20:48the one car. Like, yes, we have some help
- 20:50with my mom, but I think putting the plans in place, yeah, it
- 20:55makes it that you can stay accountable for things like the
- 20:57fact that you're, you're telling me that you are recording one to
- 21:00two podcasts most weeks? That's insane.
- 21:03I feel like that's so awesome that you're able to allocate
- 21:07that time because it would be so easy to think, oh, the client
- 21:09has to come first or this has to converse and for it to get
- 21:11pushed. But and even the kids being sick
- 21:15thing like that. I think for a lot of us who are
- 21:17like planners can make you stressed to think like, what if
- 21:20this happens? But to even go to your boss and
- 21:23say like this is what we do. So it's not like on the actual
- 21:27morning of like a blow up of emailing and I have to move this
- 21:30meeting or whatever. That's so smart to do it that
- 21:33way, and not just to make the plan internally with the family,
- 21:36but to say it out loud to those around.
- 21:38You yes, and it's just because there's so many layers of the
- 21:41anxiety or the fear or whatever you want to call it where it's
- 21:44like, Oh my gosh, what if the kid gets sick?
- 21:47Then what's my work day? And like, Oh my goodness, now I
- 21:49have to communicate that to my team.
- 21:51What are they going to think? And then and then it's just this
- 21:54cascade. But if you try to get ahead of
- 21:55things as much as possible and just have those discussions, and
- 21:59if that's not working, it's not working for them, is not working
- 22:01for you. OK, You've got a massage that
- 22:03because it's not worth it for you and your life to live in
- 22:07that fear, in that anxiety once or twice a month when your kids
- 22:10are sick. Yeah, Like that's no way to
- 22:12live, right? Yeah, I think that that's such
- 22:15good advice. And so we kind of touched a
- 22:17little bit on kind of what's working and not working.
- 22:19But tell me a little bit about what's next for the podcast.
- 22:24Video YouTube. The number of people that I've
- 22:27reached out being like, Oh my gosh, you're gonna do this for
- 22:29every episode. I'm like, ah, the big list.
- 22:34It's a big, literal big lift. Yeah, I would love that.
- 22:39But quality upping it really going for the guests that in my
- 22:43smaller mind would have said like, oh, they wouldn't say yes.
- 22:45Or why would they want to come on this little show or
- 22:49continuing to just record in my bedroom studio, which totally
- 22:53works. And it's the way that I was able
- 22:54to just get it off the ground. I have an audio engineer who's
- 22:58working with me now. So there's less bottleneck in
- 23:01that regard. And just bigger and more and
- 23:05just really thinking about what does this audience want to
- 23:08listen to, you know, what do they want to hear?
- 23:10How, how might they be entertained and educated and
- 23:13what do they want to learn about when they're, you know, trying
- 23:17to escape? There's that balance of like,
- 23:20I'm cooking dinner or I'm driving and I don't really want
- 23:23to think about parenting all the time because I'm always thinking
- 23:26about parenting. So how can we?
- 23:27But then there's some great conversations to be had.
- 23:30And this is such a, and I know that there's so many people who
- 23:33are like, Oh my gosh, I needed to hear this.
- 23:34And so how do I find that balance?
- 23:36That's kind of what I'm what, yeah, what I'm thinking about
- 23:38and really trying to hone in on and doing more stuff like this
- 23:43or like the audience can get to know me and I can share a bit
- 23:46more openly about what I'm, how I'm trying to make it work and
- 23:49the failures that I'm experiencing and the winds that
- 23:52I can celebrate. And yeah, just share more.
- 23:56Yeah. So what are you still trying to
- 23:57figure out? What am I still trying to figure
- 24:00out? Hmm I'm still today, I'm still
- 24:08trying to figure out how to not have my heart break when my 2
- 24:12year old says Mama stay. He just learned the word stay.
- 24:19Who taught him that? What I'm like, Mad at who?
- 24:22Wherever he heard that. Word.
- 24:23My daughter says that to me. When I left this morning, I was
- 24:25like. May is and it's not.
- 24:29I don't want him to not say that because that makes me feel so
- 24:32good. But then how do I, I don't know.
- 24:37I don't, I'm trying to figure it out.
- 24:38How do I reconcile that? What do I want that to look
- 24:41like? What is it saying about what
- 24:42value of mine that's being kind of attacked when he says that
- 24:46family, you know, our connection and to a 2 year old.
- 24:53So listen, we're doing a podcast recording in Port Moody and
- 24:56we're you know, they'll make it in real life.
- 24:57So they're not like he's like a banana like this next one,
- 25:01right? So that's what I'm trying to
- 25:02figure out today. That's fair and it's real.
- 25:05It's real. Stay God damn word.
- 25:10Well, when they're older, they're gonna say go so.
- 25:12We should. Just milk it as long as we can.
- 25:15So sad. No, they never will.
- 25:18He'll stay in my bosom forever. Well, thank you.
- 25:23Thank you for hosting me on my own show.
- 25:26Thank you for encouraging me to do something new.
- 25:28And I was like, OK, I'm usually behind the camera doing all the
- 25:31all the things, but. I'm running around.
- 25:33I have to also, like you have said, you know, practice what
- 25:37you preach. Yeah, test out this breadcrumb.
- 25:39Yeah, Maybe this will be your new thing.
- 25:42We'll see. Run around town on podcast.
- 25:44Thank you, Sir. I appreciate.
- 25:46You. Thank you.
