Speaker 3: It's a sober transitional home for men recovering from substance abuse,
3:33

3:36

Speaker 3: and six, seventeen rows off the field, and any of

4:39
Speaker 3: as they say, are standing bye. Good morning. I'm bringing
4:44
Speaker 3: John Lovejoy, our good friend from fresh Air. Hey doing man,
4:47
Speaker 3: I am doing great. How are you, Dave? I am
4:49
Speaker 3: doing fine. Welcome to the new digs here, man. Yeah,
4:51
Speaker 3: this is pretty impressive. It's well, it's it's a work
4:55
Speaker 3: in progress too. Yeah, I mean it's it is pretty impressive.
4:58
Speaker 3: We're still trying to learn how things work again unless
5:01
Speaker 3: you with the text this morning. But we're gonna try
5:02
Speaker 3: to get that straightened out before the show's over. And
5:05
Speaker 3: we've got some tools laying around here and there. But
5:08
Speaker 3: you know, we'll eventually, we'll eventually get there. You know,
5:11
Speaker 3: it could have at least brought us like a fruit Basketers.
5:14
Speaker 5: Why had I known you were going to put me
5:16
Speaker 5: in such elaborate quarters here, I probably would have.
5:20
Speaker 3: We We did receive some nice gifts yesterday. I've never
5:23
Speaker 3: and I think I don't know if it was the studio.
5:27
Speaker 3: I think it was more because of the Metro News
5:29
Speaker 3: midday show that we launched yesterday with Amanda Bear and
5:31
Speaker 3: from thirteen News and Tonight Live and myself. I mean
5:35
Speaker 3: I walked into the office yesterday. There's flower arrangements, there's
5:39
Speaker 3: all this different stuff. Nobody ever gave me anything.
5:41
Speaker 5: Well, I was going to say they were probably off
5:42
Speaker 5: for a man.
5:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, they were for a like you know, Coop's kid
5:46
Speaker 3: like presented her with roses and she's like, looks at
5:48
Speaker 3: me and goes, oh, hey, Dave, good luck. So there
5:51
Speaker 3: you go. I mentioned earlier the Jason Pizitello from the
5:56
Speaker 3: Contractors Association, John is going to be here later in
5:59
Speaker 3: the show talking about they're upcoming expo they're doing. You
6:01
Speaker 3: guys are going to be a part of that. Is
6:02
Speaker 3: that right? We are going to be a part of that.
6:04
Speaker 3: About microphone a little bit for me go ahead.
6:06
Speaker 5: As as a matter of fact, when I leave here today,
6:08
Speaker 5: I am heading over to the Charleston Coliseum and Convention
6:12
Speaker 5: Center to start my setup there. And the expo runs
6:18
Speaker 5: all day tomorrow and into Thursday morning. Yeah, and again
6:22
Speaker 5: we'll talk to Jason about that a little bit later
6:25
Speaker 5: on in the show. But what do you guys get
6:28
Speaker 5: out of when at Fresh Air Filters? What do you
6:30
Speaker 5: guys get out of when you go to the events
6:32
Speaker 5: like thin because I know, you know a lot of
6:33
Speaker 5: home shows and things like this, what do you get
6:35
Speaker 5: out of that? We do a lot of it actually
6:37
Speaker 5: is just to make people aware of what sets us
6:42
Speaker 5: apart from going to the local box stores just to
6:45
Speaker 5: buy a filter off the shelf, you know. And so
6:49
Speaker 5: a lot of it's education, yeah, and a lot of
6:53
Speaker 5: it's just you know, brand awareness and exposure.
6:55
Speaker 6: You know.
6:56
Speaker 5: And we like getting out and getting involved in events
6:59
Speaker 5: like this, being involved in our community as often as
7:02
Speaker 5: we can.
7:04
Speaker 3: Indeed, Spring is now officially here kind of cool today,
7:09
Speaker 3: a little rainfall in here in the Canal valley, but
7:11
Speaker 3: that usually means for a lot of folks, myself included
7:13
Speaker 3: that it kicks into some kind of allergy season. What
7:18
Speaker 3: can air filters, what can quality air filters from fresh
7:21
Speaker 3: air filters do to help the situation?
7:23
Speaker 5: John, Well, you know they always talk about, you know,
7:25
Speaker 5: when we change our clocks, it's a great time. It's
7:28
Speaker 5: a good reminder to change the batteries and your fire alarms,
7:32
Speaker 5: things along that line.
7:33
Speaker 3: This time of year.
7:35
Speaker 5: Is also a huge Like you mentioned, allergy season, that
7:39
Speaker 5: switch over from winter to spring, you're going to have
7:42
Speaker 5: all the pollen in the air. You know, things like
7:46
Speaker 5: that clog your air filter, and so it's a great
7:49
Speaker 5: time to remind yourself, you know, to change your filter,
7:54
Speaker 5: or to give us a call, let us do it
7:56
Speaker 5: for you. Our custom filters are better quality for your
8:04
Speaker 5: HVAC unit. You know, things don't get around our filters,
8:08
Speaker 5: so it protects that HVAC unit, and then the better
8:12
Speaker 5: quality filter is going to give you a better breathing
8:14
Speaker 5: air inside. You know, it's ironic, we live here in
8:18
Speaker 5: a valley where air quality outside is not really the best,
8:24
Speaker 5: but actually in our homes, your indoor air quality is
8:30
Speaker 5: up to five times worse in your house than what
8:35
Speaker 5: it is outside.
8:36
Speaker 3: That's amazing. And you told me that John before, but
8:39
Speaker 3: that is amazing to me to think about it. I mean,
8:41
Speaker 3: we talked about and we've really battled, I know, in
8:44
Speaker 3: this part of the world, we really battle with forest
8:45
Speaker 3: fires and things of that nature. And you mentioned the
8:48
Speaker 3: history that we have here in the Kanaw Valley with
8:50
Speaker 3: various air issues. But it's amazing to me to think
8:54
Speaker 3: about is that it's worse inside your house that it
8:57
Speaker 3: is out.
8:58
Speaker 5: It is simply because if you think about it, if
9:00
Speaker 5: it's inside your house, you know, let's say, for instance.
9:03
Speaker 2: You have a pet.
9:04
Speaker 5: You let your pet out to play in the yard
9:07
Speaker 5: and they come back in. You know, the pollen that's
9:11
Speaker 5: in the air gets on their hair and everything. They shake,
9:15
Speaker 5: and all of a sudden, that pallen's inside the house
9:18
Speaker 5: and there's nowhere it's trapped inside, and so all of
9:24
Speaker 5: that builds up.
9:25
Speaker 2: So that's why it's important.
9:26
Speaker 5: To have that good quality air filter to get that
9:31
Speaker 5: out of the indoor air. Trap it in the filter
9:35
Speaker 5: and that way you're not breathing it. In on a regular.
9:38
Speaker 3: Basis, talking a lot to John Lovejoy again of fresh Air.
9:42
Speaker 3: Give me some recent John, some success stories that you've
9:45
Speaker 3: had with the company, people that you've been able to help.
9:47
Speaker 3: Maybe you don't. And if it's a business, you don't
9:49
Speaker 3: necessarily have to give me a business name and unless
9:51
Speaker 3: you have their permission, but give me an individual. Give
9:53
Speaker 3: me some recent success stories you guys have had from
9:55
Speaker 3: fresh Air filters.
9:56
Speaker 5: Oh, we have, We have several. We do have one
10:00
Speaker 5: larger client that it's a commercial client, and the one
10:06
Speaker 5: thing that they are amazed at is not only the
10:11
Speaker 5: quality of the service, but the fact that we can
10:15
Speaker 5: do it for the price that we do it. You know,
10:18
Speaker 5: when when I first met with them and we're discussing this,
10:22
Speaker 5: their big question was, I don't understand how you can
10:25
Speaker 5: do this for this price.
10:28
Speaker 3: And that's one thing that we.
10:29
Speaker 5: Really pride ourselves on with fresh Air is that we
10:33
Speaker 5: are affordable. You know, when you hear that it's a
10:37
Speaker 5: custom frame and it's specially made in all of this
10:41
Speaker 5: and a better quality filter. A lot of people think, Okay,
10:44
Speaker 5: that's out of my budget, but we pride ourselves in
10:48
Speaker 5: keeping that in the budget. There we've also had a
10:53
Speaker 5: residential customer that was so happy with the service that
10:58
Speaker 5: and they live here in Arlston, that they signed up
11:03
Speaker 5: to get at their mother's house in Nicholas County. You know,
11:07
Speaker 5: we do service the entire state of West Virginia. You
11:11
Speaker 5: know we service southeastern Ohio and eastern Kentucky. Yeah, so
11:17
Speaker 5: they wanted to give that almost like as a gift
11:21
Speaker 5: to their elderly parent.
11:24
Speaker 3: Talking to John Lovejoy, fresh air vaccines are your best
11:26
Speaker 3: protection against severe disease from fluid and COVID nineteen. If
11:29
Speaker 3: you're sixty five or older, risk less do more with
11:31
Speaker 3: this season's vaccines. Get started at vaccines dot gov, paid
11:34
Speaker 3: for by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
11:36
Speaker 3: So again, people you come on from time to time, John,
11:39
Speaker 3: if people are new to the show, sell me on
11:42
Speaker 3: fresh air filters. Why should people as opposed to going
11:45
Speaker 3: as you said, the term that you used and I
11:47
Speaker 3: have used in the past, as opposed to go into
11:48
Speaker 3: a big box store just to get in the whole
11:50
Speaker 3: box full of them. Why should people in their commercial
11:53
Speaker 3: business or for residential why should they choose fresh air filters.
11:58
Speaker 5: Well, the main thing is the customization. A customized air
12:02
Speaker 5: filter frame fits tighter into your h vacunit. It's also
12:08
Speaker 5: made of metal. It's not cardboard, so that means when
12:10
Speaker 5: your unit kicks on and off, it's heavier, so it
12:14
Speaker 5: doesn't move where those cardboard ones will have a little
12:17
Speaker 5: bit of movement to them when the h vacunit kicks
12:20
Speaker 5: on and off. Any type of movement means things can
12:23
Speaker 5: get around and into your h VAC unit. So it
12:26
Speaker 5: helps protect your h VAC unit so that it can
12:30
Speaker 5: work at its peak. When it works at its peak,
12:32
Speaker 5: it can save up to fifteen percent on your energy consumption. Okay,
12:36
Speaker 5: lower energy consumption means lower energy bills. So right now
12:40
Speaker 5: we know time. You know, times are tough for a
12:43
Speaker 5: lot of people. So if you can save money on
12:45
Speaker 5: your energy bill, that's fantastic and we help provide that.
12:49
Speaker 5: And then, like I mentioned, the filter that's inside is
12:53
Speaker 5: a better quality, so you get better indoor air breathing
12:58
Speaker 5: because it does filter out more. And then you never
13:01
Speaker 5: have to remember when it's time to change the filter
13:04
Speaker 5: because we schedule you on a regular basis and we
13:08
Speaker 5: come out and we change that for you. You know, as
13:12
Speaker 5: far as commercial, a lot of companies do have maintenance teams.
13:17
Speaker 5: Do My commercial clients have found it's much cheaper to
13:21
Speaker 5: have us come out and handle the air filter changes
13:24
Speaker 5: than to have your own maintenance department employees handle that.
13:28
Speaker 5: It also frees up your maintenance employees so that they
13:31
Speaker 5: can be doing other issues, taking care of other issues.
13:34
Speaker 3: So more gets accomplished.
13:36
Speaker 5: You get your air filter frames changed and other things
13:41
Speaker 5: marked off the maintenance list for a cheaper price.
13:44
Speaker 3: John Lovejoy, how do people get in touch with you
13:47
Speaker 3: at Fresh Air?
13:47
Speaker 5: They can give me a call it's three zero four
13:51

Speaker 3: and I think I've got it, except for the fact
18:07
Speaker 3: that I'm also getting text for every show around the company.
18:10
Speaker 3: So what I really could do? Ryan, I'm getting Mike
18:13
Speaker 3: Nolten's text down here. Who does a show sooner mine
18:16
Speaker 3: in Morgantown? What if I answered Mike's text and he
18:19
Speaker 3: answered mine, I mean, and then we could do the
18:22
Speaker 3: same thing with Marsha Kavaalik and the Panhandle and Fred
18:24

18:27

18:29
Speaker 3: I'm going to presume that that's me. It says Dave.
18:31
Speaker 3: I appreciate your guest accurately stating Charleston Coliseum slightly off topic.
18:36
Speaker 3: Have you heard when we're going to get our act
18:38

18:42
Speaker 3: it's no longer the Civic Center. It's the Coliseum and
18:45
Speaker 3: convention Center. So I guess at some point they'll get
18:47
Speaker 3: them change. But you know, it's just kind of like
18:50
Speaker 3: in your hometown when you have a store that was called,
18:52
Speaker 3: you know, Brown's for years and somebody buys it out,
18:55
Speaker 3: it's always going to be Brown's. That's just kind of
18:57
Speaker 3: the way it is. Do you want to remind you
18:59
Speaker 3: we have our our auction going on courtesy of Jered Construction.
19:02

19:26

19:36
Speaker 3: twenty five, those tickets will be yours for the game
19:39
Speaker 3: tonight in Morgantown. Jason Piztela from the Contractors Association coming
19:43
Speaker 3: up a little bit later on in the show, I
19:46
Speaker 3: want to talk about volunteerism for a moment. A lot
19:49
Speaker 3: of different ways, a lot of different groups you can
19:50
Speaker 3: volunteer to be a part of, especially in the medical field.
19:53
Speaker 3: Kelly Anderson is camc's director of Volunteer Services and she
19:56
Speaker 3: joins us now int the Jered Construction Studios. Kelly, good morning,
19:59
Speaker 3: welcome to the the show.
20:00
Speaker 12: Good morning, thanks for having me.
20:02
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. And you said you've never
20:03
Speaker 3: been on radio before. Yeah, right, it's really not hard.
20:07
Speaker 3: I mean I can do it. I pull it off.
20:09
Speaker 3: I pull it off. I don't know how I pull
20:10
Speaker 3: it off, especially right now with everything going on around here.
20:13
Speaker 3: Talk about the different types of volunteering things that we
20:16
Speaker 3: have going on, and see, I know you have one
20:18
Speaker 3: in specific you want to get to, but let's talk
20:20
Speaker 3: about overall volunteer opportunities in the world in the medical field.
20:24
Speaker 12: So CMC is a great, big health system and it's
20:28
Speaker 12: growing by leaps and bounds. Certainly, I represent the four
20:32
Speaker 12: kind of legacy CMC hospitals, CMC Memorial, General, Women and
20:38
Speaker 12: Children's and tayste Valley. And so between all of those
20:42
Speaker 12: four hospitals, we have probably between one hundred and over
20:45
Speaker 12: one hundred and fifty volunteers and they are able to
20:50
Speaker 12: contribute to CMC's overall goal, which is to provide the
20:55
Speaker 12: best healthcare to our patients all the time. And so
20:59
Speaker 12: they inner in different roles at the bedside, or they
21:03
Speaker 12: support the staff behind the scenes. They can be in
21:08
Speaker 12: our lobbies, they can be doing more office support. But
21:13
Speaker 12: the bottom line is is that they are they're contributing
21:18
Speaker 12: to the quality of the experience of our patients and
21:22
Speaker 12: that's our overall goal.
21:24
Speaker 3: Talk about the age of volunteers, I mean, because I'm
21:28
Speaker 3: sure that you have a lot of older people that
21:30
Speaker 3: want to deal, but there's also maybe some younger people.
21:32
Speaker 3: Is there an age minimum.
21:33
Speaker 12: Yes, we do have teen volunteer opportunities available, and so
21:39
Speaker 12: we have from teens to we I think our oldest
21:44
Speaker 12: volunteer is ninety three really, and you know, as you
21:48
Speaker 12: could expect, our volunteer population is aging. And so we've
21:54
Speaker 12: had some volunteers who've been there for forty years and
21:58
Speaker 12: so they're getting to the place where they're saying, you know,
22:01
Speaker 12: I think maybe it's about time that I hang out
22:05
Speaker 12: my volunteer hat or health reasons obviously as they're aging
22:10
Speaker 12: kind of keep them from being able to move forward,
22:13
Speaker 12: and so we're left with kind of a gap, you know,
22:17
Speaker 12: these aging volunteers that have sustained our volunteer program for
22:21
Speaker 12: so many years. Now we're looking for younger folks and
22:27
Speaker 12: just to get that volunteerism concept back into people's minds
22:35
Speaker 12: because there's so many opportunities and it doesn't just vo
22:40
Speaker 12: doesn't just impact the people that you're serving. It impacts
22:44
Speaker 12: you and it impacts you, know, your heart, and most
22:49
Speaker 12: of our volunteers will say they get much more out
22:51
Speaker 12: of it than they than they seem to, you know,
22:56
Speaker 12: feel like they give to others.
22:58
Speaker 3: All right, talking to Kelly Anderson, I need to put
23:00
Speaker 3: you on hold just for one second here, because I
23:02
Speaker 3: find out that with this auction that we're doing with
23:04
Speaker 3: de Vosa Jerry Construction, we now have the bid up
23:07
Speaker 3: to one hundred dollars for those WVU Marshall Baseball tickets
23:10
Speaker 3: tonight for the game in Morgantown. And again the proceeds
23:14
Speaker 3: from that are going to benefit the as I mentioned earlier,
23:18
Speaker 3: the Canawa Valley Fellowship Home. And so the bid is
23:23
Speaker 3: now up to one hundred dollars for those pair of
23:25
Speaker 3: tickets and those are premo seats I mean for that
23:27
Speaker 3: game tonight in Morgantown. So so so well, you can
23:30
Speaker 3: bid if you want to, if you you got to
23:32
Speaker 3: be one hundred dollars now, because that's where that was the.
23:33
Speaker 12: Leader Morgantown too, right, Yeah, you got to go to Morgantown.
23:36
Speaker 3: You got to go to Morgantown for the game. When
23:39
Speaker 3: you look when you're reaching out Kelly for volunteers, what
23:42
Speaker 3: are you looking for? I mean, not not specifically their role,
23:45
Speaker 3: but what kind of person are you looking to volunteer?
23:48
Speaker 12: We are truly looking for people who have a heart
23:51
Speaker 12: to serve, who have a heart to be there for
23:55
Speaker 12: other people, to be empathic. And you know, people are
24:00
Speaker 12: not in the hospital because they want to be right,
24:02
Speaker 12: They're always there for reasons that you know they wouldn't
24:07
Speaker 12: choose typically, and so for somebody to come in as
24:11
Speaker 12: a volunteer and be there because they want to be
24:14
Speaker 12: and be willing to just try to make somebody's day
24:17
Speaker 12: a little bit better. You know, we can't change the
24:19
Speaker 12: circumstances for our patients, but we can at least be
24:24
Speaker 12: there with them and support them and you know, maybe
24:28
Speaker 12: distract them a little bit, Yeah, with conversation and you know,
24:32
Speaker 12: shared experiences and just being a friendly face willing to
24:37
Speaker 12: help them when they're maybe lost wandering the halls of
24:40
Speaker 12: our big hospitals.
24:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, talking to Kelly Anderson, who's the director of Volunteering at CAMC.
24:46
Speaker 3: But Dave Allen Show on five to eighty Live is
24:47
Speaker 3: brought to you partly by Pinnacle Consultants. Pinnacle offers a
24:50
Speaker 3: four phase assessment for your properties, inspection, sampling, that analysis,
24:54
Speaker 3: comprehensive reporting, and management planning. Visit Pinnacle court dot net.
24:57
Speaker 3: Because what you don't know can hurt you. Now I
24:59
Speaker 3: know that you were he had a specific type of volunteers.
25:01
Speaker 3: According to the folks that reached out to me about
25:03
Speaker 3: having you on the show today, there's something in particular
25:05
Speaker 3: that you're looking forward as at the eleventh Hour. Is
25:08
Speaker 3: that what it's called explain.
25:09
Speaker 12: As We have a fairly new program that we began
25:13
Speaker 12: two years ago and we're just starting to see it
25:17
Speaker 12: pick up. It's it's a kind of a bittersweet type
25:22
Speaker 12: of program, but our goal at CMC we really don't
25:27
Speaker 12: want anybody to die in our hospital alone. And so
25:32
Speaker 12: that does happen. You know, we have patients who are
25:36
Speaker 12: passing that you know, maybe they're family, they don't have
25:39
Speaker 12: family anymore, maybe their family is away or out of
25:43
Speaker 12: state and not able to be with them. And so
25:47
Speaker 12: if that happens, our nursing staff kind of struggles because
25:52
Speaker 12: that's not the only patient they have, and they would
25:55
Speaker 12: like to be with them and sit with them as
25:57
Speaker 12: they pass, but they have other patients to take care of.
26:01
Speaker 12: So that's always a struggle emotionally, I think for our
26:05
Speaker 12: for our clinical staff. And so we developed a program
26:09
Speaker 12: that's called Eleventh Hour Companions, and our volunteers that have
26:14
Speaker 12: the desire to be there for our patients in their
26:18
Speaker 12: last moments and just sit with them, be present with
26:23
Speaker 12: them during that time. They we we have a short
26:27
Speaker 12: training that we that we go through with them so
26:30
Speaker 12: that they can understand and feel comfortable in the in
26:33
Speaker 12: the process and in the hospital with the patient during
26:36
Speaker 12: that time. And then we if we get a phone
26:40
Speaker 12: call from the nursing staff that says, hey, we have
26:43
Speaker 12: someone here that's alone that's passing, then I send a
26:48
Speaker 12: or we send a text out to all of those
26:51
Speaker 12: volunteers on that team and they immediately will respond with
26:55
Speaker 12: their availability and we'll put together a schedule for them
26:58
Speaker 12: to go and just sit there with the patient and
27:02
Speaker 12: be there during those moments that are really precious and
27:08
Speaker 12: allow that person to not be alone during that time.
27:11
Speaker 3: And I would think you talked about the training program
27:13
Speaker 3: that you go through. That's got to be pretty intense
27:16
Speaker 3: to tell people. I mean, because I can't. I mean,
27:18
Speaker 3: I think God blesses people that can do that, but
27:20
Speaker 3: I can't imagine what that must be like. And it's
27:24
Speaker 3: going to tell you, it's going to be a special
27:26
Speaker 3: type person that's going to be able to do that.
27:28
Speaker 12: I think so. And I think what we've found is
27:30
Speaker 12: is that most of our volunteers on that team have
27:34
Speaker 12: had previous experience with being with a family member, maybe
27:39
Speaker 12: at the end of their life, or or maybe they
27:42
Speaker 12: weren't able to be with a family member at the
27:45
Speaker 12: end of their life because of certain circumstances, and so
27:49
Speaker 12: they feel like this is an opportunity for them. And
27:53
Speaker 12: I think there is kind of a special niche that
27:57
Speaker 12: you know, there are some people who who do see
28:00
Speaker 12: it as a really special opportunity, and I believe it is.
28:04
Speaker 12: But I do believe you're right. It takes there's usually
28:07
Speaker 12: a reason behind it or a special something in their
28:11
Speaker 12: heart to make them want that.
28:12
Speaker 3: I would imagine, well, it's a great program. I mean
28:15
Speaker 3: it is, and I think that you folks are to
28:18
Speaker 3: be commended, you know, for doing this sort of thing
28:21
Speaker 3: now in this eleventh hour program. Is it's something that
28:25
Speaker 3: we talked about age earlier. Is it something that you
28:27
Speaker 3: want an older person for work? Can we use younger
28:30
Speaker 3: people in those roles?
28:30
Speaker 12: We probably wouldn't use a teenager, but we also have
28:34
Speaker 12: college volunteers or you know, younger adult volunteers, so there's
28:38
Speaker 12: no real age criteria for that for this, you know,
28:42
Speaker 12: we would just want somebody who was willing to, you know,
28:47
Speaker 12: to be part of that difficult experience with a patient.
28:52
Speaker 12: And so there's really not any other age criteria.
28:55
Speaker 3: Okay, all right. And the reason I in people that
28:58
Speaker 3: listen to the show on a regular basis know that
29:00
Speaker 3: when we talk about anything relating to volunteering, and I
29:02
Speaker 3: always mention the young people because in West Virginia, young
29:06
Speaker 3: people are required to do so much community service in
29:08
Speaker 3: order to graduate from high school. Yes, and so these
29:11
Speaker 3: things could be a great opportunity for folks like that.
29:14
Speaker 12: Well, and I think that's definitely true. Typically, those the
29:19
Speaker 12: community service requirements are like maybe a twenty hour or
29:22
Speaker 12: a thirty hour service requirement. And because our volunteers are
29:26
Speaker 12: considered part of our workforce.
29:28
Speaker 3: Okay, I got you, yet, we.
29:30
Speaker 12: Really can't provide okay, a twenty year, short term type
29:33
Speaker 12: of community service. Now, there are some things that they
29:37
Speaker 12: could do, like a kind of a come and do
29:40
Speaker 12: it once and leave that wouldn't be part of the
29:43
Speaker 12: volunteer program, I got you, guess. But if they want
29:46
Speaker 12: to be part of a volunteer program and are willing
29:49
Speaker 12: to commit to you know the equivalent of a school year,
29:52
Speaker 12: essentially a nine month or a year commitment. Then we
29:56
Speaker 12: would love to have them, and we have lots of opportunities.
29:59
Speaker 12: Are those teenagers I.
30:00
Speaker 3: Would imagine too, because we all know what a shortage
30:03
Speaker 3: we have of healthcare workers people go into the medical
30:05
Speaker 3: field that maybe someone comes in there, a younger person
30:08
Speaker 3: that says, well, I'm just going to start off, as
30:09
Speaker 3: you said, with just a minimum amount, and they get
30:12
Speaker 3: in there and kind of get their feet wet. One
30:13
Speaker 3: of two things can happen. They can get in there
30:15
Speaker 3: and say this is my life's calling, or they can
30:18
Speaker 3: get in there and say this ain't for me one
30:21
Speaker 3: way or the other.
30:22
Speaker 12: Absolutely, And I think we get those students who come
30:26
Speaker 12: in and they're like, you know, I don't really know
30:28
Speaker 12: what I want to do, and this is that opportunity,
30:30
Speaker 12: like you said, or we have probably more often we
30:34
Speaker 12: have folks who are they're ready, they know I want
30:38
Speaker 12: to be in the medical field, and this is a
30:40
Speaker 12: way for them to kind of build their resume and
30:44
Speaker 12: build some time in with being with clinical staff and
30:49
Speaker 12: being with providers so that they can kind of get
30:51
Speaker 12: their feet wet as they're moving into maybe college and
30:55
Speaker 12: maybe med school that kind of thing.
30:57
Speaker 3: All right, Where can people learn more? It's the best
30:59
Speaker 3: way to, you know, to reach you. Right now, people
31:01
Speaker 3: are listening and they're saying, I want to get involved
31:03
Speaker 3: in this. I want to I want to get my
31:05
Speaker 3: church group, my city group. Me as an individual. What's
31:07
Speaker 3: the best way to reach you?
31:08
Speaker 12: We would love for you to reach out to us.
31:11
Speaker 12: You can call us at three eight eight three oh
31:14
Speaker 12: four three eight eight seven four two six, or you
31:17
Speaker 12: can go to our website CAMC dot org and go
31:21
Speaker 12: to the Volunteer Service page and there's information on that
31:24
Speaker 12: page as well as an application you'd complete to get started.
31:28
Speaker 12: But if the questions aren't answered on that website that
31:31
Speaker 12: you need, you can certainly call us.
31:33
Speaker 3: All right, Kelly, I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot.

36:23
Speaker 3: as I mentioned earlier, back at the Coloseem the Convention
36:25
Speaker 3: Center this Wednesday and Thursday. Jason Pisateela the executive director
36:29
Speaker 3: of the Contractors Association of West Virginia. He joins us
36:32
Speaker 3: now from an undisclosed location on the road. Good morning,
36:35
Speaker 3: Welcome to the show, sir, Hey.
36:38
Speaker 9: Good morning Dave.
36:38
Speaker 15: Thanks for having me on the program again.
36:40
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. Happening tomorrow and Thursday, right.
36:44
Speaker 15: Yes, sir, it's WVXPO time of the year at the
36:48
Speaker 15: Charleston Civic Center Coliseum. We have over three hundred and
36:52
Speaker 15: fifty exhibitors that are registered and about three thousand attendees
36:55
Speaker 15: already free registered to attend Expo the next cup of days.
37:00
Speaker 15: So if you're downtown, you're the Civic Center, please combine
37:03
Speaker 15: and see us.
37:04
Speaker 3: And I would think that based on the sheer numbers.
37:07
Speaker 3: And there's a lot of big events that come to
37:08
Speaker 3: the Colosseum and Convention Center of course different you know,
37:11
Speaker 3: home shows, hunting shows, so on and so forth. I
37:13
Speaker 3: would think based on the numbers, especially on the vendors. Jason,
37:17
Speaker 3: this is probably one of the biggest things that happens
37:19
Speaker 3: over there.
37:21
Speaker 15: I think that's right, Dave. And we essentially use every
37:24
Speaker 15: inch of the Civic Center and the Coliseum Convention Center
37:28
Speaker 15: that the city will give us, both inside and outside.
37:31
Speaker 15: If you drive by on Coarrier Street or Glendenon Street,
37:34
Speaker 15: you'll see the major equipment that's out front already, and
37:37
Speaker 15: then when you come inside to the lobby and inside
37:40
Speaker 15: to the coliseum, you're really going to see the latest
37:42
Speaker 15: and greatest in the construction industry and consultant design architecture
37:47
Speaker 15: has to offer this year.
37:49
Speaker 3: And give us an example of some of the time.
37:52
Speaker 3: I mean, you mentioned some of them that'll be there,
37:53
Speaker 3: but give us an example of some that'll be there.
37:56
Speaker 3: And who is this really designed for.
37:58
Speaker 15: Jason, It's really designed for anybody that is in the
38:03
Speaker 15: construction industry or wants to be in the construction industry.
38:06
Speaker 15: We also use it as a recruitment and retention tool
38:09
Speaker 15: for our workforce, and every year for the last I
38:13
Speaker 15: don't know, thirty or forty years, the industry has gotten
38:15
Speaker 15: together in the second or third week in March in
38:18
Speaker 15: downtown Charleston to put everybody essentially in one space. And
38:23
Speaker 15: it's designed for contractors, architects, engineers, state and federal agencies,
38:28
Speaker 15: those that procure and purchase construction services, anybody who's anybody
38:34
Speaker 15: around the industry we think is going to be at
38:37
Speaker 15: the Civic Center this week for the next couple of days.
38:39
Speaker 14: Yeah.
38:39
Speaker 3: I had John lovejoy Er, good friend from Fresh Air Filters,
38:42
Speaker 3: on the show a little bit earlier, and of course
38:45
Speaker 3: they sponsored the show, and John told me he said, look,
38:47
Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to head O. They're over there every year.
38:49
Speaker 3: That's just one of the ones that's there.
38:52
Speaker 15: Yeah, it is. And we've got a really exciting guest
38:54
Speaker 15: speaker tomorrow morning, Dave at nine o'clock in the Civic
38:59
Speaker 15: Center's little theater. Her Emily Callandrelli, who some of your
39:02
Speaker 15: listeners may remember, was the Not only was she the
39:06
Speaker 15: twenty twenty four West Virginian of the Year by the
39:09
Speaker 15: Charleston is a mail but also she was the most
39:12
Speaker 15: recent woman in Space and she is a stem oriented lecturer,
39:19
Speaker 15: television personality, author, West Virginia native really does a lot
39:25
Speaker 15: for West Virginia University, her alma mater, and Marshall University.
39:28
Speaker 15: And she will be our keynote speaker tomorrow morning at
39:31
Speaker 15: nine o'clock, and we've got a lot of people really
39:33
Speaker 15: excited about what she has to say.
39:36
Speaker 3: Can if people John, if they just want to come
39:39
Speaker 3: in and maybe hear her speak tomorrow? I mean, can
39:42
Speaker 3: can they do that? Is there not if they're not
39:44
Speaker 3: a vendor? I mean you can? Can the public come?
39:47
Speaker 15: Yes? They can. They just have to go online and
39:49
Speaker 15: register at wvxpo dot com. There's a button at the
39:53
Speaker 15: top that says attend and you just fill out a
39:55
Speaker 15: forum there and check a few boxes and you'll be
39:59
Speaker 15: register for the show. Because you will need a name
40:02
Speaker 15: badge to get into the Civic Center. And if you
40:04
Speaker 15: go online, ahead of time, or you can register on
40:06
Speaker 15: the day of the show in the lobby.
40:08
Speaker 3: What about vendors, Is it too late for a vendor
40:11
Speaker 3: to sign up? I would think that you're if you're
40:13
Speaker 3: not there yet, you're about to get there.
40:14
Speaker 15: Jason, Yeah, it is. We sold out about two and
40:18
Speaker 15: a half weeks ago of all of our space in
40:21
Speaker 15: the coliseum and in the two exhibit halls, and it
40:24
Speaker 15: will really be wall to wall for the next couple
40:27
Speaker 15: of days. And I mean, I think it's a great
40:29
Speaker 15: showing for the industry that we sell this out every year.
40:33
Speaker 3: All right, Hey, Jason again, give us the website, give
40:36
Speaker 3: us the Facebook, give us where people can learn more
40:38
Speaker 3: information about the big events. It's tomorrow and Thursday with
40:40
Speaker 3: the coliseum.
40:43
Speaker 15: Thanks David. It's WVXPO dot com or if you're on
40:47
Speaker 15: Facebook at wv XPO. Thanks for having me on the program.
40:51
Speaker 3: All right, Jason, I appreciate it. We'll see you tomorrow
40:53
Speaker 3: and Thursday. Man, thanks a lot, Thank you, Take care
40:56
Speaker 3: all right, Jason. Piztella from the Contractor Association. Again, this
40:58
Speaker 3: is one of the biggest events that happen. It's in
41:00
Speaker 3: Charleston every year, and the vendor space is completely gone
41:04
Speaker 3: at this point, but signing guest speaker there. So it's
41:08
Speaker 3: happening tomorrow and also on Thursday with the Kylo Steama
41:11
Speaker 3: Convention Center. Just go to their website because even if
41:13
Speaker 3: you just want to go in, you don't want to
41:15
Speaker 3: be a vendor, but you want to look around, you
41:16
Speaker 3: want to hear the speech tomorrow morning, which is at
41:18
Speaker 3: nine in the Little Theater. You got a register and
41:21
Speaker 3: you can do that again by going to their website.

41:38
Speaker 3: Charleston Urban Works is going to be here. There's an
41:40
Speaker 3: interesting article that appeared in the paper a couple of
41:43
Speaker 3: days ago. I guess about the ongoing construction in kanas
41:47
Speaker 3: City and if I visit there occasionally, but if you
41:51
Speaker 3: live there, you work there, you know what it's like
41:54
Speaker 3: in Kanawa City. And this has been an ongoing, ongoing,
41:58
Speaker 3: seemingly forever process over there with the construction in Kanau City.
42:03
Speaker 3: Looks like there's light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.
42:07
Speaker 3: And there was an article that appeared in the Gazette
42:09
Speaker 3: Mail with Rick Cavet or Charleston Urban Works not long
42:11
Speaker 3: ago about that a couple days ago, maybe a week
42:13
Speaker 3: or so ago, I think, And that's how I saw
42:15
Speaker 3: that and reached out to my buddy Rick and said, hey,
42:16
Speaker 3: you need to come in and talk about that, because
42:18
Speaker 3: there's some exciting things going on now that the construction
42:21
Speaker 3: is hopefully starting to wrap up over in Kaaw City.
42:24
Speaker 3: That is on tomorrow's show. Also, we're going to get
42:26
Speaker 3: a check in for Steven Allen Adams, our good friend
42:28
Speaker 3: from Augden Newspapers, to see what's going on with them.

47:34
Speaker 3: one this session, and we first broke the story cheap

47:41
Speaker 3: us A Metro News Midday with myself thirteen and thirteen
47:44
Speaker 3: News in Tonight Live anchor Amanda Baron. The discussion went
47:49
Speaker 3: on for about two hours yesterday. An amendment to assure
47:54
Speaker 3: religious exemptions would be included in the bill that was
47:56
Speaker 3: actually adopted on Friday. The bill, well, this is the
48:00
Speaker 3: bill that was introduced by Governor Morrissey and was talked about,
48:04
Speaker 3: if you'll recall during the State of the Set speech.
48:10
Speaker 3: One bill did pass the Senate last month with some
48:13
Speaker 3: changes from the original. What I thought was really interesting
48:17
Speaker 3: about this was the number of Republican no votes on
48:24
Speaker 3: the bill, which sort of told me that, well, you know,
48:27
Speaker 3: they say that all Republicans sometimes they can say all
48:31
Speaker 3: Democrats too, are all in lockstep with each other. I
48:34
Speaker 3: think we prove that maybe that's not necessarily the case,
48:36
Speaker 3: because there were a lot of Republicans that voted against
48:40
Speaker 3: the bill. Interesting now to me to see the governor's response,
48:47
Speaker 3: as it is seen as a major loss to the
48:50
Speaker 3: Governor's agenda. One group who spoke out strongly against the
48:53
Speaker 3: proposed bill was the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Brian
48:56
Speaker 3: Dayton from the Chamber will weigh in on the subject
48:58
Speaker 3: with me this afternoon. Metro News Midday during the two
49:02
Speaker 3: o'clock hour also, and then we'll go to the Capitol.
49:04
Speaker 5: Ryan.
49:04
Speaker 3: Also yesterday, Aaron Parker this story at wv metronews dot com.
49:08
Speaker 3: The governor signed a food dive bill House Built twenty
49:11
Speaker 3: three fifty four and it ban's food dies from being
49:13
Speaker 3: used in the Mountain State in schools and at some
49:15
Speaker 3: point later in the state. Now, the bill name seven
49:19
Speaker 3: dies that are considered to be unsafe and those will
49:23
Speaker 3: be banned from public schools starting August first. The complete
49:26
Speaker 3: list of all those dies available as part of Aaron's
49:28
Speaker 3: story on the website. That dies also banned in drugs
49:30
Speaker 3: and food items for sale in the States on your
49:34
Speaker 3: grocer's shelf starting in the year twenty twenty eight. This is,
49:38
Speaker 3: in my opinion, going to be a nightmare for the
49:40
Speaker 3: grocers and other retailers in the state. Now, mark my
49:43
Speaker 3: words on that. Now, other states have done it, and
49:46
Speaker 3: maybe West Virginia can learn from some of the things
49:48
Speaker 3: that they have done. But it's not going to be easy,
49:51
Speaker 3: which is why a lot of trade organizations have some
49:54
Speaker 3: real heartburn, if you'll pardon the pun over that. Let's
49:59
Speaker 3: go live now to the Capitol and check in with
50:02
Speaker 3: Dave Wilson and TJ. Meadows getting ready to go live
50:05
Speaker 3: from the Belly of the Beasts. Good morning fellows.
50:08
Speaker 16: Well we finally figured figure it out, Dave. You've been
50:12
Speaker 16: having you've been consuming all these food dies over the here.
50:15
Speaker 16: That explains it all.
50:16
Speaker 3: Food explains it all. Food dies and coal mine water
50:20
Speaker 3: made me and made me, made me what I am?
50:23
Speaker 16: That just put hair on your chest.
50:25
Speaker 3: You're right right there, Yeah, yeah, you're right about that.
50:28
Speaker 3: All right. So the we saw we've about you know,
50:31
Speaker 3: one thirty two o'clock or so yesterday, word came down.
50:33
Speaker 3: I had TJ on on the on the Metro News
50:35
Speaker 3: midday yesterday, we went live and checked in with Brad
50:37
Speaker 3: at the Capitol. Word came down that the vaccination bill
50:40
Speaker 3: uh uh is what was voted down? Do you agree
50:44
Speaker 3: with me what I just said that this is going
50:46
Speaker 3: to be seen possibly as a major blow to the
50:49
Speaker 3: governor's agenda.
50:51
Speaker 15: Uh?
50:51
Speaker 16: Yeah, I do agree with that. That's two major blows, right.
50:54
Speaker 16: He wanted to repeal the Certificate need that went down
50:58
Speaker 16: in House Health. This was part of his agenda. He
51:01
Speaker 16: issued the executive order, brought it up during his State
51:04
Speaker 16: of the Union. This one also went down. So, yeah,
51:06
Speaker 16: this is a blow to the agenda, and it's been
51:08
Speaker 16: it's been a lackluster first session for the governor certainly.
51:12
Speaker 3: And so what's the relationship? I mean, what are you
51:15
Speaker 3: hearing as you're in the belly of the best and
51:17
Speaker 3: you're in the hallways. Are you hearing anything about how
51:19
Speaker 3: upset the governor is about this?
51:21
Speaker 16: I haven't heard anything about that yet. Mostly have been
51:24
Speaker 16: talking to delegates and getting some reaction from the Senate
51:28
Speaker 16: side as well, Dave. And you know, I'm curious to
51:33
Speaker 16: learn more about the delegates change in attitude because twelve
51:37
Speaker 16: people flip from Friday to Monday. You know, was it
51:42
Speaker 16: your conscience? Was it just okay, I'm going to vote
51:45
Speaker 16: this ahead on Friday, But that doesn't, you know, my
51:48
Speaker 16: final vote. So I'm curious to get more information about that.
51:51
Speaker 16: Gino Sharelli, Montague County delegate, is going to join us,
51:55
Speaker 16: and he has seen this bill from start to finish
51:57
Speaker 16: as it came through House, Health and the legislatures. So
52:00
Speaker 16: we'll get his take on that a little bit later
52:01
Speaker 16: this morning.
52:02
Speaker 3: All right, guys, we'll be listening. I do appreciate it.
52:05
Speaker 16: Thanks a lot, all right, Dave, this was kind of
52:07
Speaker 16: a cordial, cordial segment today.
52:10
Speaker 3: This doesn't feel right at all. We'll try to make
52:12
Speaker 3: it better tomorrow.
52:13
Speaker 9: How's that all right? We'll work on it tomorrowing.
52:14
Speaker 3: All right, we can always get better, Yes, Dave Wilson,
