- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, Heavy mag listeners, watches and readers. My name is
- 0:03Speaker 1: Ezekiel Ox and I am the front man and singer
- 0:06Speaker 1: for Melbourne band Mammal.
- 0:09Speaker 2: And I'm Dave Gleason from the Screaming Jets and on
- 0:13Speaker 2: the front man singer as well.
- 0:16Speaker 3: How are you, buddy? Thanks for joining us today.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Thank you very having us.
- 0:22Speaker 4: This is a bit of a bit of a new
- 0:24Speaker 4: one for all three of us. We're all we're having
- 0:26Speaker 4: a happy threesome on the line today. We're here to
- 0:30Speaker 4: promote an upcoming tour which sees the Screaming Jets and
- 0:33Speaker 4: Mammal team up for the Lifeblood Tour, which kicks off
- 0:35Speaker 4: in Illawarra on November the eighth, goes through Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Brisbane,
- 0:40Speaker 4: Adelaide and Sydney and wraps up on the Gold Coast on.
- 0:43Speaker 3: January the fifth flight.
- 0:44Speaker 4: It's going to be eight days of high energy rock
- 0:47Speaker 4: and roll Australian style, right there.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Guys, Yeah, absolutely, we're I'm really excited about this tour.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I mean, I've seen Mammals exploits on YouTube and stuff
- 1:00Speaker 2: and can't wait to see him live. And I'm sure
- 1:03Speaker 2: that the Jets fans are part of the reason they
- 1:05Speaker 2: love our band is the energy and the you know,
- 1:08Speaker 2: that real kind of rock and roll vibe that we bring,
- 1:11Speaker 2: and that's why I think they're going to really take
- 1:13Speaker 2: the Mammal.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I reckon, I reckon. You're right there, Dave. It's
- 1:17Speaker 1: a great opportunity for us to get in front of
- 1:21Speaker 1: some fans that will be a bit different and vice versa.
- 1:24Speaker 1: There will be some Mammal people coming that may not
- 1:26Speaker 1: have seen you guys yet, but I think most of
- 1:29Speaker 1: the people will not have seen us. Most people will
- 1:31Speaker 1: have seen you guys. But we're just so looking forward
- 1:33Speaker 1: to it. We're probably leaning further towards like slightly heavier
- 1:40Speaker 1: sound when we get going. But it's been interesting actually
- 1:42Speaker 1: discussing it with the boys and how we're tailoring our
- 1:45Speaker 1: set to make sure that we're giving the Jets fans
- 1:48Speaker 1: what they want. I mean, we love all our songs,
- 1:50Speaker 1: but yeah, it's been fun actually thinking, oh, it's a
- 1:52Speaker 1: bit of a different one for us. So yeah, we're
- 1:54Speaker 1: absolutely pumped. Chris to say, to say the least, and
- 1:57Speaker 1: stoked that our mutual aid Owen all for it. Shout
- 2:01Speaker 1: out to Owen, he's a gun. I think he's had
- 2:04Speaker 1: to come up with a really good idea here, and
- 2:06Speaker 1: the fans are going to benefit.
- 2:08Speaker 4: I was actually going to bring that up because, like,
- 2:10Speaker 4: as you guys both know, I'm a massive fan of
- 2:12Speaker 4: both bands, and when I saw that he was playing together,
- 2:14Speaker 4: it was like, oh, my Christmas is for the last
- 2:16Speaker 4: forty years came to you. But did what were your
- 2:20Speaker 4: guys and initial thoughts when you're asked to play with
- 2:23Speaker 4: each other?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Well, I'll go first on this one because I think
- 2:27Speaker 1: you know, in the end, we had to be invited
- 2:30Speaker 1: onto the tour. You know, there's no way we could
- 2:31Speaker 1: ask the Jets to come and support us. So I
- 2:33Speaker 1: think I was surprised because there's a slightly different generation
- 2:40Speaker 1: like I was. I was saying to Dave when he
- 2:43Speaker 1: interviewed me for Triple M that I was I remember
- 2:46Speaker 1: my oldest sister bringing home All for one, you know
- 2:49Speaker 1: on vinyl when I was I would have been eleven
- 2:52Speaker 1: or twelve when it came out. That's not far off
- 2:54Speaker 1: eighteen nineteen and starting to cut your teeth as the
- 2:57Speaker 1: Jets would have been. So we're not that far apart
- 2:59Speaker 1: in age, but generationally it's different, probably because of our heaviness.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting to get any offers from from a
- 3:07Speaker 1: band like that is just legit, you know, probably more
- 3:10Speaker 1: in that like that. They're more peers of like the
- 3:13Speaker 1: Angels and sonically and Cold Chisel. I'd say, like, which
- 3:16Speaker 1: are sensational bands, and I certainly say the Jets in
- 3:19Speaker 1: the same breath as them. So we were surprised, but
- 3:22Speaker 1: then immediately it just made sense, Like I just said
- 3:26Speaker 1: to the guys, this, this, this, we have to do
- 3:28Speaker 1: this to it. It makes sense. It's a perfect opportunity.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And yeah, so that that was my feelings when I
- 3:35Speaker 1: got the very generous offer from the Jets to come out,
- 3:37Speaker 1: and yeah, just because the other guys were like, I
- 3:39Speaker 1: don't know, is this the right time? Is this the
- 3:41Speaker 1: right band? I was like to trust me, fellas, it's
- 3:43Speaker 1: going to be great.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah. Well for us absolutely, Owen came to us with
- 3:48Speaker 2: the idea and the you know, over the journey we've
- 3:52Speaker 2: toured with, we've you know, picked up bands like Grinspoon
- 3:55Speaker 2: when they first went on tour. We kind of posed
- 3:58Speaker 2: them to come on a tour with us, and you know,
- 4:01Speaker 2: I saw them guys go on to this the massive success,
- 4:05Speaker 2: but they had a different sound to us as well.
- 4:06Speaker 2: They were a heavier band than us, but there was
- 4:10Speaker 2: just something about the bill that sounded like it was
- 4:12Speaker 2: the right thing to do. And over the years, you know,
- 4:15Speaker 2: you play with different young bands, and I think that
- 4:18Speaker 2: was something that we really had going for us when
- 4:21Speaker 2: we kicked off, as like we supported the Radiators and
- 4:26Speaker 2: choir Boys and then the the Vinyls and you know,
- 4:30Speaker 2: you know, all these big bands that had kind of
- 4:32Speaker 2: a different sound. I think at one stage we supported
- 4:35Speaker 2: Wahahn and Dear Enemy, but you know, it was just
- 4:41Speaker 2: it was a way to get in front of extra
- 4:43Speaker 2: of new people. And some people were like, I'm not
- 4:46Speaker 2: into that at all, but others were like, oh, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 2: they could they could see the kind of the meeting
- 4:51Speaker 2: of the two kinds of bands, and you know, I
- 4:53Speaker 2: just think, you know, it's like a bit of a
- 4:55Speaker 2: mini festival. We've got Lard Mirage coming on with us
- 4:58Speaker 2: as well. They were a great young bean and people
- 5:04Speaker 2: bang to their back and introducing two audiences that there
- 5:09Speaker 2: might be a crossover in and you never know what's
- 5:12Speaker 2: going to happen.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I think just on that, Dave, I think you
- 5:15Speaker 1: can you can spend a lot of time talking about
- 5:17Speaker 1: how you're different, but there's similarities between this Jets and
- 5:20Speaker 1: Mammal as well, Like it's rock and roll, and I'd
- 5:24Speaker 1: argue we're both led by front men that like to
- 5:27Speaker 1: mix it up, like to create a bit of danger,
- 5:29Speaker 1: as we were talking about in that previous interview. I
- 5:31Speaker 1: think there's plenty that we're similar on and it's a
- 5:36Speaker 1: broad church rock and roll and I'm looking forward to
- 5:38Speaker 1: worshiping at the altar with the Jets coming up.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Ah, I love it. I love it.
- 5:42Speaker 4: You mentioned the fact that the two of you are
- 5:45Speaker 4: enigmatic showmen out of the frunt and in my opinion,
- 5:47Speaker 4: it's probably two of the best going round, at least
- 5:50Speaker 4: in this country.
- 5:51Speaker 3: But is it going to be a bit of a.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Bit of friendly banter and rivalry between because he's both
- 5:56Speaker 4: known for being a bit over the top, Like, is
- 5:59Speaker 4: it going to be over the top top each other?
- 6:06Speaker 2: The gallaghers we know, William, I think.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'd be more thinking. I'd be more thinking like about
- 6:19Speaker 1: about just how good it's going to be for the audience,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Like I mean, we're different performers, but but also like
- 6:26Speaker 1: that's a front man's job, Like it's not that me
- 6:28Speaker 1: and Dave are doing it wrong. We're just going to
- 6:32Speaker 1: do what we do, I'm sure because the front men
- 6:35Speaker 1: that aren't doing what me and Dave doing in my
- 6:37Speaker 1: In my view, I agree with your assessment of me
- 6:39Speaker 1: and Dave being up in the up in the you know,
- 6:42Speaker 1: some of the most watchable men in Australian rock. But
- 6:44Speaker 1: I think that if you're not doing it like me
- 6:46Speaker 1: and Dave, then you're just fucking doing it wrong. Chris,
- 6:48Speaker 1: So get around it and come and watch.
- 6:55Speaker 2: If you got something to say, go on, No, no,
- 6:59Speaker 2: look I think at he's got his show and that's
- 7:02Speaker 2: what I love about it. It's not like there were
- 7:04Speaker 2: a young band like cutting their teeth and you know,
- 7:07Speaker 2: finding their way. They are established band who've got their
- 7:11Speaker 2: ship together and so it's going to be you know,
- 7:15Speaker 2: and not that I have anything against the young bands
- 7:17Speaker 2: who are coming and learning their craft and stuff, but yeah,
- 7:20Speaker 2: I mean Mammal have got there, They've got their craft,
- 7:23Speaker 2: they've got their show and they're just going to bring
- 7:25Speaker 2: it so and we will do the same. Obviously, We've
- 7:28Speaker 2: got our show that we that we do and pride
- 7:31Speaker 2: ourselves on and have done for all this time. And yeah,
- 7:35Speaker 2: so all it is is the backstage is Backstage is
- 7:39Speaker 2: always fun, and when you're out on stage, you know
- 7:42Speaker 2: everyone wants to be that just put on a massive
- 7:45Speaker 2: show and blow the crowd away with everything they do.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Yeah. I think another thing too that the Jets have
- 7:51Speaker 1: that that sort of puts them in really good stead
- 7:54Speaker 1: For me. I've been going back over your catalog, Dave
- 7:56Speaker 1: and just listening. I was by the pool yesterday with
- 7:59Speaker 1: the cranking out of Bedroom, and it's just the songs
- 8:01Speaker 1: Chris and Dave Lovibia like probably what Mammal Mammal relies on,
- 8:06Speaker 1: just this pure visceral punk energy that that we make
- 8:10Speaker 1: the sound we want. We write some good songs. But
- 8:14Speaker 1: you go back through the Jets catalog and even the
- 8:16Speaker 1: new record that came out Saying New last year that
- 8:18Speaker 1: I've been listening to, which has like Professionals is a
- 8:21Speaker 1: professionalist conduct, And I was like the craft that you
- 8:25Speaker 1: guys bring, which has seen you guys explode more into
- 8:29Speaker 1: that FM realm, which we're now starting to get a
- 8:32Speaker 1: few plays and spins on some regional Triple M. That's
- 8:34Speaker 1: what I've noticed in going back over it. I don't
- 8:36Speaker 1: like to analyze myself. That's for other people to do.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I know what we do, but you know, going back
- 8:42Speaker 1: over it and just realizing, man like songs like you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: shiver and song's like helping hand. That is beautifully crafted tunes,
- 8:47Speaker 1: you know, And that's what I'm noticing. You guys can
- 8:50Speaker 1: just lean back and go, how's this for a banger?
- 8:52Speaker 1: Then everyone wants to see a lot.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Thanks Saan, I appreciate that. Yeah, I mean, very lucky.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Paul Wortheen and and Grant write songs. We all write
- 9:02Speaker 2: songs together in the first kind of first couple of
- 9:05Speaker 2: albums and and yeah, that's here they developed their craft
- 9:09Speaker 2: and a great producer in Steve James's who's still involved
- 9:13Speaker 2: to this day. And yeah, I mean, those guys really
- 9:16Speaker 2: nailed the craft on kind of I'm trying to step
- 9:19Speaker 2: up now and write some songs myself that are that
- 9:23Speaker 2: are up there. So but you're always developing that sha
- 9:26Speaker 2: I mean, And to have to have been able to
- 9:29Speaker 2: look back and say, I remember when we were creating
- 9:31Speaker 2: that song, you know, that's always a great thing to
- 9:35Speaker 2: have as part of your musical path.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd like to be a fly on the wall
- 9:41Speaker 5: at all of these shows, guys, because I don't know
- 9:43Speaker 5: how to put this so it comes across right, but
- 9:46Speaker 5: you have both been known to go off in tangents
- 9:48Speaker 5: when you're given.
- 9:49Speaker 3: The speeches on stage.
- 9:52Speaker 4: I'd like to know they're all interesting, don't get me wrong,
- 9:54Speaker 4: but i'd like to know who's going to go off
- 9:57Speaker 4: in the most different directions, you know, over the course
- 10:00Speaker 4: the whole time.
- 10:00Speaker 2: That'll depend on Fireball consumption there.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I'll say Dave on Fireball, I'm a Type one diabetic
- 10:09Speaker 1: and cinnamon AIDS insulent absorption, so maybe I could get
- 10:12Speaker 1: around that. But I'll say this, Chris Mammal on this tour,
- 10:17Speaker 1: it's the first time we've supported a band in a while,
- 10:19Speaker 1: because we've gotten to that weird level where we were
- 10:22Speaker 1: waiting for a band of the Jets' size, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and caliber as far as how many people come to
- 10:30Speaker 1: see them and how well known they are. We've been
- 10:32Speaker 1: doing our own headline shows, and so there's going to
- 10:34Speaker 1: be very little chat from me on the mic because
- 10:37Speaker 1: we've only got our forty forty five minutes and we're
- 10:39Speaker 1: going to be pumping out the hits and I'm not
- 10:41Speaker 1: really that interested in banging on. We'll let the music
- 10:44Speaker 1: do the talking. And I think Dave might have a
- 10:45Speaker 1: bit more room in the set to stretch his legs
- 10:48Speaker 1: than I will.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I miss poorly Woisine because because he just start
- 10:58Speaker 2: the song, I'm banging on too long. I just hear
- 11:02Speaker 2: him say fuck this and he just turned it, turned
- 11:05Speaker 2: the chem and say right start.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah that's what that's what Pete and saying do.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Right, He's gone, He's done enough.
- 11:15Speaker 3: No oh, all right, don't so.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Dave.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Tell us your first memory of Mammal.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Well, it was only through Owen Orford, who Zeke spoke
- 11:26Speaker 2: of before he brought him to me. Attention, I've actually
- 11:31Speaker 2: seen posters around the place and thought it was not
- 11:34Speaker 2: a bad name because I am one, and uh I
- 11:40Speaker 2: got us in. It's like started talking about, you know
- 11:43Speaker 2: what bands we could you know, possibly get to get
- 11:45Speaker 2: with and you know, make it, make a bit of
- 11:48Speaker 2: a different impact and play some different venues and kind
- 11:51Speaker 2: of start, you know, growing a crowd. Even even this time,
- 11:54Speaker 2: at this time in your career, you still want to
- 11:56Speaker 2: be making sure that you're growing your crowd and you're
- 11:59Speaker 2: getting to people. And he introduced me to Mammal about
- 12:03Speaker 2: only three six months ago, And yeah, I saw the
- 12:07Speaker 2: saw the wild energy and this sort of tis nuts,
- 12:10Speaker 2: so uh yeah, they.
- 12:15Speaker 1: First memory of the Jets. First memory of the Jets
- 12:18Speaker 1: is my sister Kirsty. I was blessed with two older
- 12:23Speaker 1: sisters or cursed depending on what day. It was so wonderful.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Raised in a really really strong household with two amazing
- 12:32Speaker 1: h my mum as well like three amazing women, and
- 12:34Speaker 1: my parents were massive vinyl addicts and so as children,
- 12:37Speaker 1: you know, I remember wanting to get my pocket money
- 12:39Speaker 1: so I could start buying my own records. And my
- 12:42Speaker 1: my middle sister, Kirsty, was a massive fan of the
- 12:47Speaker 1: the Vinyls and all these sorts of bands, and then
- 12:48Speaker 1: she brought him the album I think it's called Awful
- 12:51Speaker 1: one day, stop me if I'm wrong, and I had
- 12:54Speaker 1: you know better, And on the main, I mean that
- 12:57Speaker 1: was just an absolute solid goal still is. I mean,
- 12:59Speaker 1: an absolute side gold hit. And she used to play
- 13:03Speaker 1: it in the bedroom and I'd always get when they
- 13:06Speaker 1: let me their little brother, I'd be allowed to sit
- 13:08Speaker 1: in there and read the back of the vinyl and
- 13:10Speaker 1: I just remember being really impressed with the songs and
- 13:12Speaker 1: the sound, and it was aligned with a lot of
- 13:15Speaker 1: the Springsteen and stuff. That Mum and Dad listened to.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It was a new version of rock and roll, probably
- 13:19Speaker 1: a little place to the radio Birdman's and the Angels
- 13:21Speaker 1: and stuff like that that I wasn't aware of yet.
- 13:23Speaker 1: It was my gateway to some other stuff. But I
- 13:26Speaker 1: just remember being eleven years old and there was this
- 13:29Speaker 1: song felt Better and everyone sung it, and then all
- 13:32Speaker 1: of a sudden, every time you go to a pub
- 13:33Speaker 1: there'd be a bloke with an acoustic guitar screaming it
- 13:35Speaker 1: out as well. So it's done. That's my memory. I
- 13:39Speaker 1: was very younger. I was eleven years old when that
- 13:41Speaker 1: record came out.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Wow, And I remember you telling me one Dave that
- 13:45Speaker 4: since Betty came out, you haven't done one gig where
- 13:48Speaker 4: you haven't played that song.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Is that still the case?
- 13:51Speaker 2: I say, yeah, what's the point tonight? You've all heard
- 14:00Speaker 2: American Plain enough. It's like everyone has heard it enough.
- 14:03Speaker 2: They've heard it a million times, but not everyone's been
- 14:06Speaker 2: to the show every night to see it played live.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Some people have just seen it there for the first
- 14:10Speaker 2: time ever in their life. So you know, it's just
- 14:15Speaker 2: an absolute joy to play that help in hand shivers,
- 14:18Speaker 2: I mean for a song that starts that I've been
- 14:21Speaker 2: contemplating suicide to have become such a sing along song
- 14:25Speaker 2: as it is. And obviously we didn't write that, but
- 14:30Speaker 2: it was, you know, songs like that, even destruction and
- 14:33Speaker 2: then lesson knowing songs we always start with come on.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I don't think. I'm pretty sure there hasn't been many
- 14:39Speaker 2: gigs that we haven't had come on in the set either.
- 14:42Speaker 2: There's just songs that you love to play and songs
- 14:44Speaker 2: that when when you're kind of lock into them, you're
- 14:47Speaker 2: kind of it's like, right, yeah, where at worked now
- 14:49Speaker 2: it's day, you know. It's so we use them as
- 14:53Speaker 2: much to rep us up as to rep the crowd up.
- 14:56Speaker 2: And yeah, I'm pretty sure Better has been the set
- 15:00Speaker 2: since since the day it was first releast.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Was eleven years old.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It's interesting. It's interesting to hear that the reflection David
- 15:09Speaker 1: and about a couple of things that I think are
- 15:11Speaker 1: interesting in that answer is, you know, the first of all,
- 15:14Speaker 1: that the shifts, you know, that first line about the
- 15:17Speaker 1: raises that you know, the sort of suicide. We actually
- 15:21Speaker 1: had an argument on the new album the there's a
- 15:24Speaker 1: line on Keanu Reeves the first single if you Knew
- 15:27Speaker 1: someone Else was in control of your life? Would you
- 15:29Speaker 1: kill yourself? And we we we we were discussing the
- 15:33Speaker 1: lyrics and Pete Pete, our guitar player, was like pretty
- 15:36Speaker 1: confronted with that, and we had to argue, is it
- 15:39Speaker 1: Is it good that it's confronting?
- 15:40Speaker 5: Is it?
- 15:41Speaker 1: I actually got yeah, and so that's and that's great.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But that that makes me think about like authenticity, Like
- 15:47Speaker 1: I think, whatever you're doing, it's authentic. And it comes
- 15:51Speaker 1: back to like what Chris was saying about our antique,
- 15:53Speaker 1: so to speak on stage. I think that it's we've
- 15:56Speaker 1: endured probably as frontmen and as acts because when I
- 16:00Speaker 1: just putting it on because we thought that that's what
- 16:01Speaker 1: Mick Jagger was supposed to do or what chas, Yeah,
- 16:04Speaker 1: it actually comes. You can see it in this conversation.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Both of us are extroverted. Both of us love a
- 16:08Speaker 1: chat and we're doing doing our version of it. I
- 16:11Speaker 1: think the reason that the Jets, certainly, you know, like
- 16:14Speaker 1: again I don't I don't like to say what's important
- 16:17Speaker 1: about my band. That's what other people to reflect on.
- 16:18Speaker 1: But what I can say from the Jets is there's
- 16:20Speaker 1: a there's a there's a truth and an authenticity to it,
- 16:23Speaker 1: which is why it's been so enduring. You know, through
- 16:26Speaker 1: the ups and downs, you survive.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Look, I think that that run that runs
- 16:30Speaker 2: through a lot of the bands that went before us,
- 16:35Speaker 2: the Chisels, the Angels and all that, like eighties, seventies
- 16:39Speaker 2: and eighties, those guys who paved the way for you know,
- 16:42Speaker 2: pub rock and all that success they had and they've made.
- 16:45Speaker 2: They were packing joints six nights a week across the country.
- 16:49Speaker 2: They're getting played on radio ad nauseum and all that.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And the reason that they're still around is because none
- 16:58Speaker 2: of them are rock star bank well you know that
- 17:00Speaker 2: a couple I won't name them, but like the reason
- 17:05Speaker 2: they have stayed around is because you just can't fake
- 17:07Speaker 2: it in this country and get away with some kind
- 17:11Speaker 2: of dickhead and still kind of shower in the basket
- 17:16Speaker 2: and the you know, the crowds come and see you.
- 17:18Speaker 2: And I think that comes across in a lot of
- 17:20Speaker 2: the music that gets made by a lot of Australian
- 17:24Speaker 2: artists as well. None of the one, none of the
- 17:27Speaker 2: ones you've ever been on any of those shows, but
- 17:29Speaker 2: everyone else with the exception of it Nicola so earnest,
- 17:37Speaker 2: amazing Uh, but yeah, I just think that we come
- 17:43Speaker 2: from that stock of of get up there, put on
- 17:46Speaker 2: the show, and you know, and you know, I took
- 17:50Speaker 2: my daughter to see Food Fighters and Dave Grohl was
- 17:53Speaker 2: motherfucker and all over the place, and I hey, motherfuckers
- 17:57Speaker 2: and fucking and I said, if I went on stage
- 18:00Speaker 2: as an year old in Cardiff and started calling the
- 18:04Speaker 2: crowd motherfuckers, you wouldn't come up in a very short show. See,
- 18:12Speaker 2: I've always gone I've always gone different, like I'm Early
- 18:15Speaker 2: in our career, I got certainly into some stoushes, but
- 18:20Speaker 2: I was I was relentless in my attacks on crowds
- 18:24Speaker 2: that I didn't think were engaged with this or not.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I never went with the we'll get him in the end.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I just went on just saying you are not there.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I always say, there's a contract. We brought, the energy,
- 18:35Speaker 1: we brought the songs, Get off his chair, put your
- 18:38Speaker 1: phone down, shut the fuck up, and dance. And if
- 18:40Speaker 1: you're not doing it, I would force you to so.
- 18:43Speaker 1: And it's definitely got me. It's got me, It's got me.
- 18:45Speaker 1: A couple of me and me and Pete got our
- 18:47Speaker 1: faces properly bashed in and glass going Gelong one night,
- 18:53Speaker 1: but we finished the Sat Day finish.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Like seeds back in the day. That's fucking great for
- 19:03Speaker 2: us up on stage and all the blood still coming down.
- 19:07Speaker 1: That's what it was. That's what it was.
- 19:09Speaker 3: That's classic. Oh guys, well, think what's your favorite spermag
- 19:13Speaker 3: yet song.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I've been actually going through them, so I'm I.
- 19:19Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I can't say one. I think I think there's something
- 19:24Speaker 1: about helping hand now that I've been going back over them,
- 19:27Speaker 1: because I love I love how it's a bit of
- 19:30Speaker 1: a sook like at least it's a song that's sort
- 19:33Speaker 1: of saying, you know, look for me. But then the
- 19:36Speaker 1: answering the chorus, I'm always I'm always about the emotional
- 19:40Speaker 1: lyric and the answering the chorus is actually a really
- 19:44Speaker 1: natural and good thing to ask, like please help me.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Like it's a really human thing to reach out when
- 19:49Speaker 1: your mental health is down and low. And I've struggled
- 19:52Speaker 1: with my mental health and I love it. It's like
- 19:54Speaker 1: it's okay to I don't know. That's what I get
- 19:57Speaker 1: out of it is, you know, sometimes things are hard,
- 19:59Speaker 1: but but what you do, and what's a healthy thing
- 20:02Speaker 1: to do is just reach out. To your mates and
- 20:03Speaker 1: say hey, can someone please help me because I'm struggling,
- 20:05Speaker 1: And then it's your turn when they're down for them
- 20:08Speaker 1: to ask you. So I don't. It makes me feel
- 20:10Speaker 1: It makes me feel good to listen to that song
- 20:12Speaker 1: over the what I've been doing. But there's so many bangers.
- 20:14Speaker 1: That was a tough question, Chris, come and go easy.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Thanks, that's that's that's exactly what Paul you wrote it for.
- 20:20Speaker 2: So yeah on the head, No, I'm going to make it.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Even harder for you, mate. If Mavell had to cover
- 20:26Speaker 3: a Scream of Jets song, which one would you reckon
- 20:28Speaker 3: it to be?
- 20:30Speaker 1: Well, I'm loving I'm loving the Gotsch you covered album.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I didn't know it existed. The Jets are actually going
- 20:34Speaker 1: to covers record and I loved I love it. I
- 20:37Speaker 1: love the title Dave like it's it's like, why didn't
- 20:40Speaker 1: I think of that? I love it.
- 20:45Speaker 2: If we were going to a suggestion for I got
- 20:47Speaker 2: a suggestion for you. I wrote a song after I
- 20:50Speaker 2: saw the movie True Romance with Christian Slater and yep,
- 20:55Speaker 2: one of my favorite all the time movies. And he
- 20:59Speaker 2: said that your movie coming home in a body bag,
- 21:02Speaker 2: and so I wrote a song called coming Home in
- 21:05Speaker 2: a body Bag, which is a B side that I've
- 21:08Speaker 2: I've managed to track down somewhere, but that that would
- 21:11Speaker 2: be my suggestion for you. Oh well, cool, well an
- 21:15Speaker 2: anti war song obviously, yeah, well that's obviously.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Mammals Mammals all about that. And it's that that that
- 21:22Speaker 1: that coming over the body bag. It sounds like something
- 21:25Speaker 1: that I would say. It sounds like it's that aggression
- 21:27Speaker 1: that I use in my lyric, that that real wild eyed,
- 21:30Speaker 1: you know, sort of almost offence that I can't see
- 21:33Speaker 1: on the offence, that sounds good, But I think, yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 1: I think like I mean, imagine if we pulled up
- 21:42Speaker 1: and it we played like better as the last song
- 21:44Speaker 1: on this tour that get Our Heads Punched In played twice,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I'd say probably shimmers because I love it's actually got
- 21:54Speaker 1: because if you think about it, there's actually a link
- 21:56Speaker 1: melodically too. We've got a song day called Inciting and
- 21:59Speaker 1: again her arm inside yea and she was as So
- 22:06Speaker 1: it's got that that just that simple hook stretching out
- 22:08Speaker 1: a lyric, and I think that it's also edge, got edge,
- 22:12Speaker 1: and that's got mammal Mammals, got that slightly razor sharp edge,
