Sam Silvers: Yeah, Logan Newsom: do not have MySpace anymore Logan Newsom: Sam, you remember whenever we talked about that first episode, whenever we were sitting there in your, your, uh, your office/embryo room, and we talked about how, you know, the barrier of entry and no matter [00:04:00] what, we wanted to get people involved, we wanted to get kids involved I think originally we talked about that, like, if they couldn't afford a show steer, like, "Hey, what about a sheep or a goat?" Logan Newsom: Did you ever think that where we'd end up here on today's episode and where we're at? Sam Silvers: No, we don't. And just for the audience, we, we have a doozy for you. And I just wanna tell y'all that we are going way out of our element here today. but we have two great guests with us, and we're gonna be talking everything show poultry. Sam Silvers: Is that- Market ... market show poultry, today. So it, it, it's gonna be fun. I still, wanna quote Pure Country every time I think about I, I might have said it in one of the, uh, advertisements. So I'll, I'll just start off with this question. The little white speck on top of chicken shit, is that still chicken shit? Speaker 6: still Alisa Hairston: It's still Alisa Hairston: chicken Chicken Interview_ALISA: Perfect. Brad Hairston: stinks, sometimes it don't. Don't ever wanna taste it. They'll try Sam Silvers: Logan, would- I'll would you like to introduce our guests for us today? Logan Newsom: We've got, Brad Alyssa Hairston. Okay. These guys are from Caldwell, Texas, East Texas for us up there on the, in the Texas Panhandle. But, Alisa Hairston: [00:05:00] Texas Alisa Hairston: Central ... Logan Newsom: for Logan Newsom: see, they're all the Logan Newsom: of Logan Newsom: Texas. Yeah, I know. They all say the same Logan Newsom: that fits in. Alisa Hairston: trees. Logan Newsom: Question, we're gonna have a great conversation here and, for a lot our listeners out here that, you know, have, thought about Drenchline being educational, I would say if you're, if you land on the small ruminant side, then this one is gonna be very educational, 'cause it is gonna be for us. Logan Newsom: I mean, something that is completely out of our element, just from the standpoint of we're not familiar with it. But at the same time, you know, made the kind of the little joke and, you know, as we kinda started this off, like it's an opportunity to get kids involved. and I know that's what these guys are after and that's what they're passionate about and that's what they wanna do. Logan Newsom: So as we kinda get started here, I'd let either one of you guys, you know, just kinda, kinda give us a little, little brief history, kinda where you guys, um, where you guys started, kinda where it has e- has evolved from. Obviously the, the livestock supply as well as, you know, of the stuff that y'all got going. Logan Newsom: whoever wants to kinda, kinda start off there. Alisa Hairston: I'm I [00:06:00] when Uh, went turkeys projects as a Went to a poultry short that what Alisa Hairston: in oil and gas went on to Alisa Hairston: public Alisa Hairston: system work in Uh, a and and and Alisa Hairston: here Alisa Hairston: we all States. Sam Silvers: Awesome. Brad Hairston: Brad Hairston. Alisa Hairston: I guess I the Alisa Hairston: this thing. I'm more [00:07:00] outlooker and entrepreneur type. We kinda got started with our son showing, and we couldn't find good, good shavings or good so we got that first, and we started getting truckloads Alisa Hairston: of Alisa Hairston: and people would come buy from Alisa Hairston: us. Speaker 6: Some people come to us Alisa Hairston: and, say Brad Hairston: uh, do y'all sell feed," "Can y'all... know y'all do good. y'all help us?" Brad Hairston: and a Brad Hairston: I Alisa one day, I said, "Hey, let's, uh, let's start selling feed." And, then, you know, it just kinda evolved Brad Hairston: whether you're beginner, first-time raiser, or somebody who's been doing it for several years, you know, and Speaker 6: we have it down to science of everything you need and, and all that, and become a, a full-time business, Speaker 8: it, it Is one the, the ROIs, return on investments, out probably i- in comparison to a, to a show calf or a goat or a lamb or whatever. Speaker 8: Walk us through that process. If, if, if a, if a youngster wants to get into, um, uh, the, the poultry game, h- how does that work? W- like where do, where do we start? Obvi- obviously probably going to your county extension agent or [00:08:00] your ag teacher first, but past that, after we said, "All right, we wanna show some poultry," does that look Sam Silvers: like Alisa Hairston: So with Alisa Hairston: agent Alisa Hairston: and can some we Chicken Interview_ALISA: they Alisa Hairston: when what From Alisa Hairston: we our Alisa Hairston: feed Alisa Hairston: and Alisa Hairston: a feed consists all of that Chicken Interview_ALISA: their Alisa Hairston: and at Chicken Interview_ALISA: given Alisa Hairston: I call a call a whole to just feed Um, what how Chicken Interview_ALISA: do, when Alisa Hairston: your your [00:09:00] your of pen instructions how pen to set Chicken Interview_ALISA: it Alisa Hairston: At that Alisa Hairston: the Alisa Hairston: or whether and kind questions, Chicken Interview_ALISA: kind they Alisa Hairston: how throughout where Chicken Interview_ALISA: the Alisa Hairston: sheep tell as they to with Logan Newsom: true Sam Silvers: Yeah. Brad Hairston: we get the ones all the time that they call day in, day out, send pictures every other day, every week. 99% of time, the people that contact us the most almost always do the best. Logan Newsom: Sure Brad Hairston: The ones who never do good are the ones who come get the feed, and we never hear from them. And we can almost write that down. Alisa Hairston: If [00:10:00] we Brad Hairston: hear from them, we can almost guarantee you they're not gonna do good, and we see it almost every single time. Brad Hairston: you know, and it's, it's same way with y'all. they if they don't contact you and at all or one time, you know they're probably not gonna do good. Sam Silvers: And probably not gonna have a good experience. Speaker 9: Yes, W Alisa Hairston: And Speaker 6: But, but then it's our Speaker 6: Not, Sam Silvers: Walk us through, like, what, what's the cost of a, of a pen, say, a, a pen turkeys or, or pen of birds or... Sam Silvers: I don't even know if I'm saying that right, Sam Silvers: no, Alisa Hairston: No you're Alisa Hairston: So, Alisa Hairston: Um Logan Newsom: a good number to start? with Alisa Hairston: never n Alisa Hairston: on good with Chicken Interview_ALISA: and Alisa Hairston: reason with i- reach your who, can't do So system and to to dip Chicken Interview_ALISA: into Speaker 11: Um- Speaker 8: And then Speaker 11: you sort Chicken Interview_ALISA: you Alisa Hairston: sort ... from there and then we [00:11:00] through. Yeah Chicken Interview_ALISA: we cull Alisa Hairston: the Chicken Interview_ALISA: to family, get Alisa Hairston: a was shell-shocked- just trying to raise Alisa Hairston: um, because that's a of Alisa Hairston: But feeding the Speaker 8: But I'm, I'm also thinking, like, you know, I've got a 60 200 barn. Speaker 15: Oh, you're thinking... this is your problem. You're thinking Speaker 8: pack some birds Speaker 9: there ... yeah. And, Speaker 9: and you could Alisa Hairston: if give Alisa Hairston: can order Speaker 8: we don't have Alisa Hairston: show in our county Yeah, yeah. Speaker 6: like Alisa Hairston: counties, they Alisa Hairston: a Alisa Hairston: kid max Alisa Hairston: okay locks you in the a- and is typically the side for Chicken Interview_ALISA: and we're Alisa Hairston: three of three on the, just We're [00:12:00] to to feed that, we're feeding birds. birds? Sam Silvers: What, Speaker 8: the cost those Alisa Hairston: 75 ... um, the, cost Alisa Hairston: Okay on on Alisa Hairston: Now Turkeys are probably Alisa Hairston: five turkeys, Speaker 8: And, and about a grand to feed the thing- Speaker 8: the pen. Chicken Interview_ALISA: Not Speaker 8: Okay, let's ta- let's talk Broilers. Alisa Hairston: Chickens Sam Silvers: It's Speaker 8: cost me about a grand to feed Sam Silvers: them Sam Silvers: over, Speaker 8: how many week period. Sam Silvers: Six-week period Speaker 9: Yeah. Speaker 8: Let's say I go to Houston and win Houston Broiler Mm-hmm. What's that gonna pay? Alisa Hairston: Uh, Speaker 6: They actually just upped it Alisa Hairston: to Speaker 8: You folks listening, hot take. Yeah. That's a- business school. hell of an ROI. Speaker 15: Y'all stay out of this. Me and Sam Speaker 15: got Speaker 10: business. Speaker 9: Yeah, Speaker 9: Yeah. Speaker 6: good, good return on investment. But- Chicken Interview_ALISA: a Alisa Hairston: I will say Speaker 9: will say the, Speaker 6: the number one thing we get with first time families or families who are not as experienced is they think chickens are [00:13:00] Alisa Hairston: and- Speaker 6: They- Speaker 6: get very overwhelmed when they realize much it takes to actually do it correctly. Speaker 15: What, what does the culling process look like? Like you had mentioned, you know, kinda Logan Newsom: looks going through. Like, Speaker 15: is that something... I feel like we do the same thing. is that something once a week you go through? Speaker 15: Typically, And Alisa Hairston: two-week- just a three-week, Speaker 15: let's say theoretically if we were a part of, you know, if we bought the package and, you know, we were [00:14:00] reaching out to you Logan Newsom: consultation, Speaker 15: is that something you can walk me through that culling process, or is that something like, "Hey, Brad, you gotta, you gotta come Speaker 15: my Speaker 10: gotta Brad Hairston: over Alisa Hairston: think Alisa Hairston: your pen She's person. Speaker 6: e- Speaker 8: guy Speaker 6: Yeah, So we would Speaker 8: call you. You'd come out help cull our birds. Chicken Interview_ALISA: being Alisa Hairston: I a try to run but myself Yeah. and Chicken Interview_ALISA: two, Alisa Hairston: half or two Speaker 8: you're not gonna... You wouldn't come to Junction and cull Sam Silvers: Got Speaker 6: plane maybe. Speaker 8: Now I'm gonna tell you- Got a plane ... where, where, where we live, uh, you know, my wife tried to have some chickens, and the culling process there is a, is pretty easy Alisa Hairston: a Speaker 8: Is it Yeah, it, you know- Chicken Interview_ALISA: of Alisa Hairston: or Speaker 8: Well, it coons, it possums, it was foxes Yeah. They would have Speaker 9: a They would Speaker 6: out pretty Chicken Interview_ALISA: So Alisa Hairston: you, to [00:15:00] Chicken Interview_ALISA: I Alisa Hairston: go Chicken Interview_ALISA: kind Alisa Hairston: then Yeah ... would. Alisa Hairston: Yeah. Alisa Hairston: your Speaker 6: set-up. We we get into pen set-ups in a minute, Speaker 8: Life on the Speaker 9: ranch is a little hard. Speaker 9: But, Speaker 6: culling, Alisa Hairston: so, Speaker 6: you know, let's say you have a str- Let, let's explain a straight run show and a split show first. A straight run show is where you're gonna run all the sexes together, but typically you only want to show Speaker 9: cockrels- Logan Newsom: which Speaker 6: which is the bigger framed male birds. A split is where you have a pullets class, which is all females, and a cockerel class. So the culling is different if you have a straight run show versus a split show, because can't run your pullets and cockerels together in pen. You want to separate Speaker 6: them. Speaker 8: for the listeners, who has straight run show? Who has a... Speaker 6: Uh, typically your county shows have Straight Run All your majors now Speaker 9: Are Alisa Hairston: have San Antonio just Speaker 9: to Speaker 6: show coming up the, in Chicken Interview_ALISA: twenty-seven Speaker 6: That was only Alisa Hairston: major that, Speaker 6: a Straight Run. But [00:16:00] now in 2027, Antonio will have a show, a pullet class and a cockerel class. Speaker 6: If exhibitors did not know that, they need Chicken Interview_ALISA: to Alisa Hairston: rules Speaker 6: of the schools Alisa Hairston: think telling their more Speaker 6: we see that more and more at school shows. I mean, at, I'm sorry, at school barns, uh, in cities and, and in just ag teachers that don't know. Speaker 6: If it is a split please get more than 25 max. Speaker 15: whenever you order, Logan Newsom: is Speaker 15: come straight run? Speaker 6: They do Alisa Hairston: they come come Straight Run. Speaker 6: you don't know what you're gonna Hopefully Alisa Hairston: a Speaker 15: tell you a quick story. we had we had store growing up Logan Newsom: um, Speaker 15: every year during Easter would always sell Easter Speaker 15: chicks Speaker 15: You know, and they'd come in, dyed, and, you know, we'd sell, you'd sell about 80% of them. Speaker 15: And then, you know, once Easter Sunday came, you know, you had another 20%. So I was and, um, we thought, "Oh, we'll just take these, take these little baby [00:17:00] chicks to the house and eggs and, Logan Newsom: You we our Speaker 15: We ended up having about 100 of left over. Logan Newsom: gosh Speaker 15: And they can say straight run and you hope that split. We were 100% male. Speaker 15: Oh, Speaker 6: yeah. Speaker 15: we had these birds running around Speaker 6: roosters don't make good, uh, eggs at Speaker 6: all Speaker 15: Oh, I Alisa Hairston: the Speaker 6: Y'all, y'all, y'all know that's illegal now, right? To dye birds. Do Speaker 15: No? Speaker 9: No. Speaker 9: Uh-uh Speaker 6: that? is absolutely illegal to dye Speaker 6: for Easter Speaker 6: Yeah. Speaker 6: Yes Speaker 15: know, we used to sell the fire out of things around Logan Newsom: that Alisa Hairston: Oh. Speaker 6: ducks and the chicks. Speaker 6: Yeah. Speaker 4: yeah. Speaker 8: Well, what's, what's the, what's the keep, like, you know, you order your 75 birds whatever, uh, is like, a validation process? How do you know that those are the 75 birds you started with? C- is there people out there can you, like, Alisa Hairston: so Speaker 8: one- many things ... and shove one in, Alisa Hairston: kids through or or their, [00:18:00] Those turned the Texas at they order When come Texas they wing Alisa Hairston: Okay. Alisa Hairston: have on a to Speaker 15: their Speaker 15: validation Chicken Interview_ALISA: the validation. Speaker 6: a wing band falls out, it's invalid. Chicken Interview_ALISA: So- Alisa Hairston: It cannot be shown. Alisa Hairston: Ooh yeah Alisa Hairston: the their poultry wing Speaker 8: [00:19:00] So as the saying goes, let's talk turkey here. Let's just switch our, Tell us a little bit about the turkeys. Like, how, how, what is, how is that situation different from, from- Sam Silvers: [00:20:00] Okay. Chicken Interview_ALISA: time even Alisa Hairston: a Chicken Interview_ALISA: you Alisa Hairston: pen Chicken Interview_ALISA: three Alisa Hairston: you Logan Newsom: Okay. Alisa Hairston: on as could with 25 you're Chicken Interview_ALISA: you're Alisa Hairston: on a Alisa Hairston: Yeah, Speaker 6: and- Speaker 6: then like on the majors, so you can show... Speaker 6: With the major set of birds that's coming November 11th, you can show, once again, you can show Houston or you can show San Antonio, Houston, Austin, and if you have a county show in between that, between January and [00:21:00] April, them birds sometimes are, are cross-validated through the county and the majors Chicken Interview_ALISA: And Alisa Hairston: can also, Speaker 6: Yeah, Grandstand too. Speaker 6: I forgot about Grandstand. Sorry guys in Fredericksburg, but yes, you can show Grandstand, which is another basically a major show. so that's why you really wanna order 75 birds for turkeys if even for one kid. Alisa Hairston: Now, on Chicken Interview_ALISA: talking Alisa Hairston: vicinity Speaker 6: that's all the way to end. Costs. Speaker 6: but Speaker 15: time they Speaker 15: get there Speaker 8: total Alisa Hairston: costs. Yeah Speaker 6: feed costs, not, not bird Not, and not... But also, so another thing you gotta keep in mind, especially for San Antonio, you s- you gotta target your feeding plan different for a very long show or a short show, just like you're doing lambs and goats. Speaker 15: you're, if you were feeding a, yeah, in a, Speaker 6: also, the birds mature at a different level so let's say San Antonio's coming up and they ha- somebody has a really good animal, like a dominant bird there, and they're like, "Oh, we're gonna save it for Houston." You just screwed yourself. Speaker 6: Mm. 'Cause it's not, it's not gonna happen. It [00:22:00] will not. I'm gonna say 99.9%. That best bird San Antonio will not the best bird at Speaker 6: Houston. Speaker 9: take Can't, can't hold them over. Alisa Hairston: them Speaker 6: hold them over. You can't hold them. You take what's best Speaker 9: that day. Speaker 10: Yeah so Speaker 15: like show Speaker 14: birds. Speaker 6: Yeah. Speaker 6: same, same Chicken Interview_ALISA: and Alisa Hairston: of Chicken Interview_ALISA: turkey Alisa Hairston: a are turkey for a Alisa Hairston: well Speaker 6: to the split, you can take one Speaker 8: Walk us, walk us through, this is what I'm curious about, facilities. Speaker 8: What kind of Facilities, Speaker 8: do you Speaker 15: and you, you mentioned, um, you know, the time that takes. So like, you know, if we're, if we're a sheep and goat family, we're gonna, we're gonna learn how to, you know, teach our goats and our sheep to hand walk. Speaker 15: We're gonna treadmill. We're gonna, you know, have some hair regimen, whatever. If we're a show bearer family, you know, we're gonna walk and, brush and oil skin. What does that look like on the poultry side of things? Chicken Interview_ALISA: So Alisa Hairston: is [00:23:00] If do support Chicken Interview_ALISA: We're Alisa Hairston: Sure Alisa Hairston: and, preach to Speaker 11: So what's the Speaker 11: a Chicken Interview_ALISA: come to they Alisa Hairston: see a lot Chicken Interview_ALISA: can Alisa Hairston: to they an to So an Chicken Interview_ALISA: one, gotta Alisa Hairston: we're looking three square per Chicken Interview_ALISA: to Alisa Hairston: on of they Alisa Hairston: insulation air a do how airflow is I'm turn some on [00:24:00] he Speaker 5: families Speaker 6: Yeah ... So construction's what I do along with this. So metal buildings, barns, that's what I do. So AC is okay, and we're not against AC with broilers especially, let's say, state fair 'cause that's summertime birds. We're not that. Most people do not put enough AC capacity. And so let me back up. The, the way to explain airflow versus AC, let's say you're going down the road and you got your AC on max high, and you crack your windows about halfway. Speaker 6: You still have plenty of cold air flowing, and you have fresh air coming in, and that's how you gotta kinda think of it in a show barn, is when you do have AC, you want three to four times capacity of what that room says size is. If you do not, you're not gonna be able to have airflow and AC. The AC needs to supplement your airflow, not be the sole source of fresh air. Speaker 6: Does that make sense? Yeah, and- Speaker 8: It'd be stagnant, Speaker 9: basically Speaker 6: it'll be stagnant air. Yeah, the ammonia level raises, [00:25:00] stagnant air. you know, a little, a little six-inch exhaust fan is not gonna do it in a, in a pen. You, you know, let's just say a good size pen for seventy-five birds would be a ten-by-twenty pen. Speaker 6: Let's start with For broilers, for broilers. And, uh, you know, in ten-by-twenty pen, you want about a twenty-four ex- inch exhaust fan, some louvers on the back on one side, which I would say three foot by six or foot, that much airflow, and then you want 'em on the opposite side. You want fresh air to blow through there naturally on good days, and then close it down and have, have some really big BTU AC to supplement that, and, and that's where a lot of people miss. Speaker 6: So a rule thumb too, then this is gonna sound crazy, if you can't live in that pen yourself, you don't have a good enough Speaker 14: pen. Speaker 6: And no dirt floors. Dirt floors thing of past on, on broilers. Some people still raise turkeys on Speaker 6: sand Speaker 6: That's okay if you, if you can the right Speaker 6: consistency Speaker 6: sand. We always do shavings 'cause we have Speaker 6: em Speaker 15: on concrete I'm assuming Speaker 6: Yeah, shavings or [00:26:00] wood floor. A lot of people raise on wood floors, uh, they'll get Alisa Hairston: a- fan of Speaker 6: do Yeah, yeah, but, you know, somebody buys Morgan building for their broilers, great. we're not that. Speaker 8: clean, like clean them every day? Every Speaker 9: week? Speaker 6: them at least once a and s Speaker 6: shuffle them through. Stay away from your tractor supply crap, shavings, uh, stone coast. That sorriest ass shavings Speaker 6: You, Alisa Hairston: get Speaker 6: which I Speaker 6: don't tell Speaker 6: y'all that. Speaker 6: Y'all are looking at me Speaker 15: no Sam Silvers: No, Sam Silvers: Yeah. Alisa Hairston: So, Speaker 8: so what, what shavings do y'all Speaker 8: like? Speaker 9: Champion, Speaker 6: Show Flake. Just like... If you're a pig person and you know a pig person, go shavings they're using. Speaker 6: whatever they're using, yeah. That's Speaker 6: Whatever they're using. We the brand we sell, called Nature's Wood Grain. It's not Canadian shaving, but it's the closest thing to Canadian you can get. Speaker 6: And it's light and fluffy, absorbent. Uh, when they poop, you can actually pick the poop clods up and put it in a bucket. That's part of the cleaning your pen, keeping the flies down, ammonia level down and all that, and Chicken Interview_ALISA: And Alisa Hairston: with Speaker 8: So d- can you have, like, fly systems in your barn? [00:27:00] Like Speaker 9: we have fly systems. Speaker 9: Yeah. Alisa Hairston: you Speaker 6: the little... You know, most people probably don't wanna put full system in like you see in a big horse barn or pig barn, but the little deals puff every 15 minutes, uh, those work well. Uh, you can put some fly bait out, strips, you know, anything. Speaker 6: But the main thing is stay on top of the flies from day one. Speaker 6: Do until Speaker 6: they're bad, because it's too late. Start on from day one, and act like you have flies really bad from day one, and you'll never a fly Speaker 6: at all Speaker 6: And, Speaker 6: you know, the Speaker 6: cleanliness is the big thing, and not overcrowding. Speaker 6: you Speaker 6: know, if you, you're overcrowded and you have airflow, flies and ammonia's gonna go crazy. Speaker 6: So Speaker 6: y- you wanna cull hard, have plenty of airflow, and stay clean, and you're gonna be good on ammonia, flies, and, and the environment. And another thing back to that is a lot of people wanna keep their cull birds in their good pen. They just wanna, like, make a divider, and this is on turkeys and chickens. Speaker 6: They just wanna flip over put their cull birds on one side. Well, you just defeated the whole purpose of culling and doing everything. Get them out of [00:28:00] out of the room, because, you know, it's, it, you just... Speaker 6: it Speaker 6: goes back to air So think of it like this, too, especially on the heat. you take 100 watt light bulb and stick it on the ground, you got 30 of them in there, what them birds are putting out. Speaker 6: That's how Speaker 6: much they're Speaker 15: Yeah, the body heat. if, if a person is starting off on this deal, just I'm talking green, fresh, fresh out of the gate, you, you mentioned like the Morgan building and what, what is, what is some options for environment and facility? You know, I'm assuming if, if they got a, a, you know, could do a space or pen in like a shop, that, that could Speaker 15: Work Speaker 6: good. Garages Chicken Interview_ALISA: good. Garages- Shops work Alisa Hairston: Garages garages. Speaker 6: really good Alisa Hairston: they Speaker 15: Dude, I'm tell- Hey. Speaker 10: I'm Speaker 15: I'm Speaker 6: So Speaker 6: believe it or not, lots of Houston, there's been lot of Grand Champion raised in town in the middle of a cul-de-sac in garages Logan Newsom: If, Speaker 15: you know, when you think about, on the, on the poultry side of it, is there an area [00:29:00] demographically that is a little more... So, you know, we're north of Lubbock. we're great this time of year if you're growing ruminant animals. I mean, we've cooled off enough. I mean, there's a high probability that the grand fat at Fort Worth's gonna live up there, you know? Speaker 15: Like that's just, that's that environment. Is that environment where we do get cold at night, like is that okay? I mean, obviously we're gonna have to have heat, you know, and, and good Alisa Hairston: And you time Chicken Interview_ALISA: I Alisa Hairston: of when we of of the because fall, all the and chickens So Chicken Interview_ALISA: having Alisa Hairston: whether or key Speaker 6: Yeah Mm-hmm Speaker 6: And it's a big, it's a big difference. It's always harder them birds cooler Alisa Hairston: it Speaker 15: Oh, that's... Yeah. Speaker 6: Always. because- But, like you you know, where where's the best place or the most Alisa Hairston: in Alisa Hairston: the Speaker 6: it really depends on your [00:30:00] pen know, you people on the coast that has very high humidity, where they really gotta concentrate on their airflow, to, to blow through there to keep that humidity down, and then you got people up north in your area trying to keep 'em warm. Speaker 6: We, we know there's lots of raises around Canyon area that show at the majors are used to, so you know, it's kinda- just Speaker 14: on where you're Speaker 15: at. Speaker 15: I could see like trying to feed in y'all's part of the world, feeding for like state fair. Speaker 15: I bet I bet that's Alisa Hairston: It's Alisa Hairston: it's, Speaker 6: So our county's, like, two days before state fair. Speaker 6: Yeah Speaker 6: So Alisa Hairston: it's bet that's- And, Chicken Interview_ALISA: that's where a- Alisa Hairston: first starting Chicken Interview_ALISA: getting Alisa Hairston: environment from get-go Speaker 10: yeah, Speaker 15: Well, and I think a, know, it's a similar story no matter what we're talking about, what specie. it, it's... And, you know, I think everything that, you know, from an environment standpoint that you spoke about is similar probably a lot of things that, that we see. Like, you'll come into some of those barns and facilities that are very, very [00:31:00] nice. Speaker 15: Um, you'll come into some that, you know, are just very, very functional. And as long as they're functional and, you know, they check the boxes and they can keep stuff cool when it needs to stay cool, and keep stuff warm when it needs to stay warm, yeah, you can be all right. You don't always have, you know, Taj Mahal. Speaker 6: be top-of-the-line fancy. Like you said, it has to be functional. Speaker 6: Functional Speaker 6: Sometimes you have to Speaker 15: work with Alisa Hairston: harder Speaker 6: to temperature that you want Speaker 6: but you can make Alisa Hairston: Uh Alisa Hairston: you Speaker 6: a lot of things too Speaker 6: is the Speaker 6: temperature and and the environment directly correlates much feed those birds eat, just like it is else. Speaker 6: If they're hot, they're not gonna eat. we're hot, if we're hot outside, we're Speaker 6: not Alisa Hairston: eat Alisa Hairston: same Sam Silvers: way Alisa Hairston: And they're- gonna Speaker 6: basically, with our feed plan, you're gonna get four, four types of feed, which I'm just kind of doing short deal. Speaker 6: She's gonna explain that better. Let's just say you got a transition between two and three, and she has four or five sacks feed left between the transitions. Something's going on, and she usually can fix it, Alisa Hairston: bet the, you that's one [00:32:00] be, like, Alisa Hairston: they're Alisa Hairston: eating, Speaker 8: We've got the birds, we've talked about our facility. uh, walk us, walk us through the actual feeding program, the regimen- Speaker 15: what... Logan Newsom: that Yeah. you guys, what you guys I obviously Logan Newsom: know Logan Newsom: you've Speaker 15: honed in on, you know, to, Speaker 15: like I Speaker 15: we talk about it a lot on Logan Newsom: the Speaker 15: and I'm sure you pro- you guys probably feel the same way. Speaker 15: We're not experts, we screwed a Speaker 10: that Logan Newsom: That's Alisa Hairston: that's what Alisa Hairston: with Speaker 6: how we started Speaker 6: the-- numbers or Speaker 6: how Alisa Hairston: the Alisa Hairston: with So the Chicken Interview_ALISA: kinda Alisa Hairston: gonna way the numbers Chicken Interview_ALISA: the Alisa Hairston: that Uh, Alisa Hairston: was Alisa Hairston: a Alisa Hairston: keeper. Chicken Interview_ALISA: and he Alisa Hairston: of and my And he so [00:33:00] Chicken Interview_ALISA: do Alisa Hairston: feed I "Hey, I need what do And Alisa Hairston: said, Alisa Hairston: we're, think we're Chicken Interview_ALISA: doing Alisa Hairston: feed "Well, And said, I Speaker 6: me back up. Our son was still showing Alisa Hairston: then Alisa Hairston: too so Alisa Hairston: Ty Okay. That, Speaker 6: I was- Y'all need to know that first to hear rest of this Alisa Hairston: Yeah. Alisa Hairston: "Well, why you gonna start Alisa Hairston: it's Alisa Hairston: some for help Alisa Hairston: well Alisa Hairston: your Don't think Alisa Hairston: that's Alisa Hairston: that's, good Chicken Interview_ALISA: And Alisa Hairston: you've "There's of the and that Chicken Interview_ALISA: And [00:34:00] Alisa Hairston: a So us, to Alisa Hairston: us. Alisa Hairston: Absolutely Speaker 6: Yeah, Chicken Interview_ALISA: That's it. And Alisa Hairston: so put it Chicken Interview_ALISA: then But Alisa Hairston: as Speaker 6: not Alisa Hairston: talk Alisa Hairston: two months Alisa Hairston: He, Speaker 6: He, was- It, it was Speaker 6: bad it. Alisa Hairston: he It was like- yeah, thank- uh, holidays Speaker 6: not gonna be good Alisa Hairston: they were Tylan against it- ... Speaker 11: help these kids beat Alisa Hairston: telling- Yeah. Chicken Interview_ALISA: we're doing and Alisa Hairston: giving Chicken Interview_ALISA: I "It's I said, " Alisa Hairston: I we're Chicken Interview_ALISA: in what Alisa Hairston: we're Chicken Interview_ALISA: we Alisa Hairston: I you, be once Like I put with the Alisa Hairston: Yeah. Speaker 6: story to that is after [00:35:00] Tylan graduated senior year, he got Grand Reserve his turkeys and another family in our own coun- This is in our county. Our own county come... They would never come to us while Tylan was go- They come to us right after, uh, the next year after, after son graduated, and Alicia got him on the plan and got him everything, and I can't count how many times on how many hand... Speaker 6: You know, I got way more fingers and toes or than they asked, but every time they would say, "We cannot believe how easy this is. We thought y'all were doing more." What else were y'all doing? It's what we thought. It's what everybody in the whole county thought, and they come into one grand champion that, that following year just sticking to a plan and just, just working. Speaker 6: But they said, "We thought y'all were doing a lot more." We're like, "No, it's just consistency and it's when to, Speaker 6: to transition." Alisa Hairston: [00:36:00] [00:37:00] To Alisa Hairston: supplement Speaker 5: um, Alisa Hairston: like I'd Alisa Hairston: stated take that show how how pens gonna Chicken Interview_ALISA: if Alisa Hairston: what and showing Alisa Hairston: Oh Alisa Hairston: yeah Alisa Hairston: That makes sense they're and build feed it's all of it's of feed, all Now, this we the and so a Chicken Interview_ALISA: forth Alisa Hairston: to Chicken Interview_ALISA: You to feed Alisa Hairston: store, they're that with Chicken Interview_ALISA: our Alisa Hairston: that [00:38:00] It that for It's gut an to so there some increases to a in the to some later do to get the continue through So in we and then that we Speaker 11: Now Speaker 8: uh, sorry to [00:39:00] interrupt you, but is it, is this mixed into the base ration, or is this just like- Alisa Hairston: These Speaker 8: Top dressed Speaker 11: these Speaker 5: that are- Top dressed ... top dressed- the Yeah. Alisa Hairston: with they based they are how much Chicken Interview_ALISA: to Because, Alisa Hairston: in and we from Chicken Interview_ALISA: feed Speaker 6: don't overfeed Alisa Hairston: any Yeah Chicken Interview_ALISA: two and Alisa Hairston: there is leave as Chicken Interview_ALISA: to Alisa Hairston: so it aids and But the it a in Alisa Hairston: to Alisa Hairston: Um, [00:40:00] few um, Alisa Hairston: say, Alisa Hairston: Brad, seven or Alisa Hairston: Mm-hmm Alisa Hairston: the in Champion Right Um, Alisa Hairston: have at customers have Alisa Hairston: and on side the Yeah the made Chicken Interview_ALISA: that Alisa Hairston: kind the poultry we out it for Chicken Interview_ALISA: families. Speaker 8: are you, are you adding this in, in the water? How does In the water. And is this from start finish? Is it- Alisa Hairston: just there thing. The, is Alisa Hairston: Okay Alisa Hairston: and because a Alisa Hairston: Okay. Alisa Hairston: Yeah Alisa Hairston: like Speaker 6: too, and more of a, you say, three days on, three days off or- three and four, two and You Speaker 9: it's, Speaker 6: you don't have to do [00:41:00] every Alisa Hairston: single day. Alisa Hairston: it's, Alisa Hairston: know- Intermittent intermittent. Alisa Hairston: boost what Chicken Interview_ALISA: call Alisa Hairston: turkey those exhibitors getting Speaker 11: it Speaker 8: might be a little heat stressed- Yes, or something Alisa Hairston: the Speaker 8: That's interesting. Okay. So y- got them on this feed and the supplement, and then talk to us about, like, w- what that... What does the feeding fitting regiment like when you're getting ready to go to the show? Speaker 8: say we're fixing to go to, Speaker 8: Um, Speaker 8: to Houston to show, or San Anton. Sam Silvers: W Sam Silvers: what Speaker 8: we hauling those birds in? Is there anything special that we're doing in transpo? Is- Chicken Interview_ALISA: a Alisa Hairston: depends the Chicken Interview_ALISA: to couple Alisa Hairston: to [00:42:00] as In Chicken Interview_ALISA: an Alisa Hairston: in we'll down in the Chicken Interview_ALISA: uh, Alisa Hairston: the Chicken Interview_ALISA: that Alisa Hairston: the, down we Alisa Hairston: yeah. Alisa Hairston: or a good Speaker 6: good Chicken Interview_ALISA: vent Alisa Hairston: good, good pig Speaker 6: good AC pig trailer, that kind of stuff Chicken Interview_ALISA: depends Alisa Hairston: how Alisa Hairston: how Alisa Hairston: together So the Speaker 11: I think I could rig out Alisa Hairston: Yeah. Speaker 8: I could rig out that sheep Speaker 6: trailer. Oh, Alisa Hairston: Yeah. Alisa Hairston: and cool em Alisa Hairston: Yeah, we Chicken Interview_ALISA: that Alisa Hairston: they s they Alisa Hairston: Yeah. Alisa Hairston: and in Alisa Hairston: Oh Speaker 6: So- So back, you know, like the selection, let's just say on chickens, Alisa Hairston: right? Speaker 6: If you're going the night before the show, you wanna pick... So you're only gonna show three cockerels [00:43:00] or three You can only take one or you do, back to the family validation, then one kid can pullets and one kid can take cockerels. Speaker 8: Okay. Speaker 6: So that's where the family comes Let's just say, back to where you're about to leave for the show. You do not ever wanna your top three before you leave for the show and expect those to be the top three when you get to the show. You wanna pick your top four or top five, and then pick your top three right before you walk in. Speaker 8: So how many, how many you, how many can you with Speaker 8: you not- Speaker 9: the Speaker 9: show They're Alisa Hairston: take Speaker 9: to Houston ... Is Speaker 9: there. max. Speaker 6: down there. Alisa Hairston: I Houston Alisa Hairston: one Alisa Hairston: a max people Speaker 6: were basically out their barns. They Alisa Hairston: 30 but Speaker 6: that's just stupid. Speaker 6: You know, you, you, you're stressing your kids Speaker 6: out. Speaker 6: Just bring five Speaker 6: or Alisa Hairston: per kid- Now, Speaker 8: is that- ... and, and you'll be good ... something where y'all come in and say, "Hey, these are the, these are the five or 10 you need to take," or like, "We're gonna take [00:44:00] these Alisa Hairston: to few before, Chicken Interview_ALISA: to Alisa Hairston: and can kids And the of travel I go them sift and their three they're ones that they take. Chicken Interview_ALISA: Yeah. Alisa Hairston: Yeah Alisa Hairston: But then Speaker 6: they're Speaker 9: or Alisa Hairston: and- Speaker 8: how do, how do you, like when you say, "Oh, those are the five I want," now how do I not get those confused with the other chickens? Speaker 8: Do I put them in another pen? Speaker 11: So- Speaker 8: They ain't got like a ear tag or Alisa Hairston: some set that Alisa Hairston: different colors Speaker 6: mark them on Alisa Hairston: the head Alisa Hairston: them them Speaker 9: Or spray paint on the Speaker 8: head Well, you already told us painting birds is illegal Speaker 9: now. Yeah. Speaker 14: well, Speaker 6: like s- like Speaker 6: dipping Speaker 9: into this. Speaker 9: Yeah, Speaker 6: you're, Alisa Hairston: you're Alisa Hairston: you're Alisa Hairston: right, But Speaker 6: they're that old, it's not Alisa Hairston: yeah. Speaker 6: stripe, a spot of paint on tail, a spot of paint on the head, Speaker 9: you Speaker 9: [00:45:00] know, a Speaker 8: and that doesn't go against you, like, when you're judging them- No ... or Alisa Hairston: when all the breast we're or and Alisa Hairston: area- Alisa Hairston: yeah. while Speaker 8: I'm gonna admit this, that I have shown one turkey in my life. Speaker 8: Yeah. Well, I didn't show... I h- I helped a, a buddy show a turkey at our county show. I grew up in Bell County. Speaker 8: Yeah, Speaker 16: East Texas. Speaker 8: ha- I had to go in there Speaker 8: and Speaker 6: No, that's west of 35. Speaker 8: Uh, Speaker 9: yeah. Alisa Hairston: But Speaker 8: I held turkey up. Sam Silvers: Yeah that, my turkey- Sam Silvers: We Alisa Hairston: feeders Sam Silvers: connection Yep Do Speaker 8: I, I hadn't been back there in years and years, but- They do have nice Sam Silvers: sure Speaker 8: Okay. So we've selected the birds. We've got them in the AC'd, uh, Suburban. Speaker 8: We're headed to Houston. We get there. What's that look like? Do we gotta stay up all night, like, drenching them, or...? Alisa Hairston: Uh, you're stay Alisa Hairston: up stay up in Logan Newsom: When you [00:46:00] Speaker 15: sif line, you know, what we think of a sift, you know, in, in terms of walking into the ring and actually kinda going through the process. Is it gonna similar to Speaker 6: we kinda, we, we, back we said sif line, we meant Alisa Hairston: Staging Speaker 15: Okay, staging. Speaker 14: you're Speaker 6: stage just Speaker 6: like- Speaker 15: Just like we do. Alisa Hairston: Yeah, Speaker 6: go on a stage they to the arena, you get out, and you find a little stall area, and you kinda make a lit- make little campsite. Speaker 15: Hey, little Alisa Hairston: and Chicken Interview_ALISA: it- Alisa Hairston: to get set a kind a in you're Chicken Interview_ALISA: y'all Alisa Hairston: drenching getting When them into stall Chicken Interview_ALISA: so Alisa Hairston: worried eating they're gonna Chicken Interview_ALISA: to Alisa Hairston: through whole and the Chicken Interview_ALISA: keeping Alisa Hairston: Mm-hmm. Speaker 8: So I... [00:47:00] A- and I, I don't wanna jump around here, but, like, when they're, when they're judging them- Mm-hmm ... when the judges Sam Silvers: up Speaker 8: what, is the, what is the judge looking for? he... What's going on Alisa Hairston: So- Chicken Interview_ALISA: you're Alisa Hairston: three Speaker 8: And they're the most uniform, Alisa Hairston: No. Get that out of your Alisa Hairston: thing Alisa Hairston: Okay. want LRs Alisa Hairston: What's Speaker 15: outliers. Speaker 15: You Speaker 8: Unicorns. Alisa Hairston: Yes. Speaker 6: want... and that's where we talk about three gen- 20 out of, one out of every 25, you want those. Now, you want the three biggest birds that are gonna yield the most amount of meat, but never, ever, ever leave birds at Sam Silvers: Mm Alisa Hairston: that make sense? Speaker 8: not Speaker 15: all. That should be on Speaker 15: a Speaker 6: Huh? Yeah, Speaker 9: so- Speaker 6: huh Speaker 9: you- Never your big Speaker 8: birds Speaker 9: at home Speaker 9: Yeah. Speaker 9: Okay Alisa Hairston: So, you a Speaker 6: bird in Alisa Hairston: pen, That just Speaker 6: out ... that just stands out, but you have the next three are identical, you better put that big [00:48:00] bird there and, and then Alisa Hairston: just Alisa Hairston: put put- small Speaker 15: your Speaker 15: home. run hitter, baby. That's take. Alisa Hairston: right Alisa Hairston: in X number to birds can Alisa Hairston: Yeah Alisa Hairston: running without of Speaker 8: are there is it Speaker 8: like the market deal? Are there different judges and you haul them? Like I know gotta haul Chicken Interview_ALISA: this To, to a Alisa Hairston: the Chicken Interview_ALISA: But- Alisa Hairston: for we 'Cause judge Um, all for the that Chicken Interview_ALISA: the And we Alisa Hairston: is base you're Alisa Hairston: yes. as you're holding it upside down. Alisa Hairston: As you're Alisa Hairston: holding it upside down with the Alisa Hairston: how wide And carry to and Chicken Interview_ALISA: that Alisa Hairston: think of Chicken Interview_ALISA: bird Alisa Hairston: to rather [00:49:00] than Speaker 8: Do the- it, and then, like, after these birds are exhibited, do they, do they have, like, a carcass contest for those birds? Speaker 8: Do They Speaker 8: They Speaker 9: do Alisa Hairston: not. Alisa Hairston: They do Sam Silvers: No. Speaker 8: like, kill them and Chicken Interview_ALISA: like Alisa Hairston: You just- you put them Alisa Hairston: go Yeah, go coal trailer, go Alisa Hairston: Yeah- Alisa Hairston: But Chicken Interview_ALISA: do carcass Chicken Interview_ALISA: test. Alisa Hairston: on, Alisa Hairston: on, on the Alisa Hairston: It's, it's a whole different Sam Silvers: Gotcha. Alisa Hairston: But Speaker 6: we could show you some pictures. So we do, we have processing at our house. Speaker 6: We used more birds, but we kind do it. So Alisa Hairston: reason we process Alisa Hairston: is Alisa Speaker 6: always doing test we have Chicken Interview_ALISA: we Alisa Hairston: really good Speaker 6: raising areas at our house that we converted some shipping containers some infa- insulated shipping containers, Chicken Interview_ALISA: up Speaker 6: so we do that because genetics is ever-changing and feeding is ever-changing. Chicken Interview_ALISA: another Alisa Hairston: thing Alisa Hairston: fed Alisa Hairston: these Speaker 6: and this was just last week, and we processed Saturday. So we [00:50:00] processed them, we processed them out and got them on the table after we're done and weighing some of them. Speaker 6: Well, then Alisa Hairston: can say Speaker 6: where weight does not matter, because you might have 25-pound bird that just built like a triangle or a 22-pound bird that's a rectangle. That 22-pound is gonna yield more meat that other Speaker 6: bird Speaker 15: the other one did? Speaker 6: and then Alisa Hairston: you got to, everybody Speaker 6: listening, I cannot throw the scale away. Speaker 6: Weight means absolutely Alisa Hairston: stress that Speaker 6: Un- unless you're up North Midwest, stuck on Speaker 14: Weight up Speaker 15: S- so will you ever have any of those guys like Midwest, like that come down and like will judge San Antonio, Houston, and so you kinda... No, y'all try to Speaker 6: not, they're she, She's one up Alisa Hairston: north Alisa Hairston: went up Speaker 15: up and d- done some shows Alisa Hairston: And, Alisa Hairston: Show, in Nebraska Exurban Wyoming Speaker 15: Yeah Speaker 8: them, Speaker 8: you went and fitted Sam Silvers: turkeys Alisa Hairston: that a word. Alisa Hairston: No, Speaker 8: a Speaker 9: word Alisa Hairston: guess, guess Speaker 6: a word. Speaker 8: Yeah, Speaker 8: are you are turkey jock. Chicken Interview_ALISA: I Alisa Hairston: been called a jock Speaker 15: Hello Speaker 6: Yeah Alisa Hairston: I'm Alisa Hairston: I [00:51:00] Alisa Hairston: some other words Alisa Hairston: We don't Speaker 8: judge, we don't judge around Speaker 6: say that around here. Yeah. Chicken Interview_ALISA: But Speaker 6: Yeah Alisa Hairston: I have gone up judged Speaker 9: That's awesome. Speaker 9: the, Chicken Interview_ALISA: the Alisa Hairston: typically um in poultry stick with Texas judges for poultry Alisa Hairston: yeah, Speaker 6: Do y'all the difference Alisa Hairston: fancy Speaker 6: and market Alisa Hairston: birds? Speaker 15: I got stuck judging a show north of Santa Fe, New Mexico, the very first livestock show that I ever did, and I walked in there and they show fancy birds Speaker 15: up Speaker 15: So I mean, Logan Newsom: it- Chicken Interview_ALISA: It's Logan Newsom: poultry like Logan Newsom: like the breeding Logan Newsom: poultry Speaker 15: It w- it would be like in the- Speaker 10: like a fighting chicken? Speaker 15: No. Alisa Hairston: like Speaker 15: It be like you were a very well-renowned sheep market lamb judge, and they threw you into the framer at Louisville judging all purebreds. what felt Speaker 6: Yes. And that's... Alisa Hairston: up north, Speaker 6: it's, even happened here in Texas at our own show, or not where I grew last Alisa Hairston: year Speaker 6: escort judge Speaker 6: out. But anyway, you're a, [00:52:00] you are a superintendent or you're on a fair board and you get a fancy bird judge to judge a market poultry show, you are doing them kids a disservice. Speaker 6: I cannot stress that Speaker 9: enough. Speaker 6: is, it, you would Speaker 6: not take... Speaker 6: Let me, I the example to down on the would not a dairy judge only judged dairy cows dairy heifers whole, his whole entire Speaker 6: life Speaker 6: and put in a Louisville market steer Speaker 6: show. Logan Newsom: Yeah. Speaker 6: would be some people fighting mad wanna drag him out of the arena. Speaker 6: And, you're doing the kids just as much disservice as getting a fancy bird judge versus a market broiler show Speaker 6: or Speaker 8: is- Speaker 8: market bird show ... this is the second podcast a row where Speaker 14: to, Sam Silvers: discussions Speaker 8: judges. Yeah. a hot topic. Alisa Hairston: how time and Speaker 14: Sure, absolutely Speaker 8: Yeah, 100%. Speaker 11: and Alisa Hairston: do seeking Alisa Hairston: [00:53:00] hiring Speaker 8: Well, I always say, you know, a, a lot of times they spend more time hiring the janitors for the deal than they Yeah, Alisa Hairston: Yeah Yeah. Alisa Hairston: Right. Speaker 6: Right It happens Or who's gonna do the best concession Chicken Interview_ALISA: the Alisa Hairston: janitors Yeah, I Speaker 6: you Speaker 6: Concession stands are important though Speaker 5: spend Alisa Hairston: Amen Alisa Hairston: on, doing Chicken Interview_ALISA: who Alisa Hairston: to your Sam Silvers: Yeah Sam Silvers: Yeah. Speaker 8: Yep. Speaker 9: And we Chicken Interview_ALISA: see Speaker 6: really bad when Alisa judged Exhorbin three years ago and and y'all, y'all familiar with Exhorbin? Speaker 6: the... Speaker 9: County Alisa Hairston: Yeah Speaker 6: a Big Speaker 8: Big show, yeah. Speaker 6: And the quality there just like... Alisa Hairston: It, Speaker 6: just made us, it made us cringe. Nothing against the kids, nothing against anybody. They Alisa Hairston: just men They They don't have mentors knowledge- Speaker 6: they were doing Speaker 9: it- Speaker 8: old school. Speaker 9: Old Alisa Hairston: school ... Speaker 6: The second year, she was on two-year rotation. The second year she come in Chicken Interview_ALISA: Oh, Alisa Hairston: explained and, like, Alisa Hairston: leaps Speaker 6: and bounds better Speaker 6: just... It, it... The same showing, some of the kids were in the bottom. Speaker 6: They were, like, [00:54:00] middle or they wouldn't might've been at the top, but they just completely changed Speaker 9: Yep. Speaker 9: just, Speaker 6: just in one Alisa Hairston: year. And, Speaker 6: it was big time. But, like I said, you know, there's just no knowledge and no, Alisa Hairston: you Speaker 6: It, it needs to be updated. You know, a lot of your northern shows, uh, we got some customers at Iowa State Fair. Speaker 6: Uh, they've won that show and got... Alisa Hairston: What'd they Speaker 6: reserve? Reserve there. Once again, they had a market... I mean, they had a fancy bird judge come in. So you got a pen of three, pen of three broilers. A fancy bird judge might come in there and rub his hand under one blow on the feathers and walk Speaker 6: away, Speaker 6: and that's a slap in the face to every works Speaker 14: ass off Alisa Hairston: to do You Speaker 6: and that's, that's at The same, same way every other Alisa Hairston: know y'all see Speaker 14: Sure. Oh, yeah Alisa Hairston: a or Speaker 6: or a, major Sam Silvers: So Speaker 8: talk to us a little bit about, about A&B Ob- obviously centered, focused around poultry, y'all, y'all do some, y'all do some other stuff there too. Alisa Hairston: started with Chicken Interview_ALISA: were [00:55:00] Alisa Hairston: started with Then Speaker 15: Tell us one more time real quick, what brand was that that you guys like? Logan Newsom: Nature's. Alisa Hairston: And Alisa Hairston: that's what we sell. Chicken Interview_ALISA: That's Speaker 15: And you say comparable to like a, Champion or a Thoroughbred Okay, good. We're always- Showflex ... yeah, we're always looking for, you know, new ones Speaker 6: not against Speaker 6: championship Speaker 15: Oh, yeah. Alisa Hairston: you into winter they to Alisa Hairston: Yep. Chicken Interview_ALISA: gonna Alisa Hairston: Don't political, Chicken Interview_ALISA: gonna Alisa Hairston: Yep Alisa Hairston: coming come of Alisa Hairston: Okay, Speaker 6: are, we are looking for more too. Hate to put a plug out, Speaker 6: yes Alisa Hairston: Yeah. No, that's Chicken Interview_ALISA: we carry Alisa Hairston: feed Okay Um, We're so um, Speaker 5: lamb Chicken Interview_ALISA: I need Alisa Hairston: Okay. Alisa Hairston: can and get scheduling because do Chicken Interview_ALISA: and Alisa Hairston: in Alisa Hairston: That could Alisa Hairston: to put Alisa Hairston: tell Speaker 6: that [01:06:00] happened couple years ago, Alisa Hairston: uh, down around Speaker 6: Houston area. Speaker 6: Some of these school shows that where they have their school barn and an ag Alisa Hairston: nothing against they're people on the planet. 99% of are they're Speaker 6: Alissa went down pick a family in the area at Alisa Hairston: show. Uh, most important thing in Sam Silvers: feed, Speaker 8: water, or fans? Speaker 6: Airflow Speaker 15: I think that's interesting how you talked about that, and I would in the Logan Newsom: and Logan Newsom: we Logan Newsom: have, from Logan Newsom: air Speaker 15: perspective, Logan Newsom: I a lot Logan Newsom: of the stuff that Speaker 15: you Logan Newsom: dairy Speaker 15: airflow Logan Newsom: quality. very good at quality.
