- 0:23Hello and welcome to Creedon Hall.
- 0:26I'll be a bartender tonight and I've got 2 patrons in tonight.
- 0:30They've got the the beautiful Lee from Straw Chat and we've
- 0:34also got Phoebes. How well doing?
- 0:37Sorry for interrupting you there by the way, I didn't realise
- 0:40like the video had finished and I was watching on the YouTube
- 0:42thing going oh I really like this song, I'm sorry.
- 0:49Cheers. No, you're all right.
- 0:52Cheers. Yeah.
- 0:54Happy Friday, everyone. Happy Friday.
- 0:57Whoa, have you got a WKD blue? I'm.
- 1:01I'm drinking DDKM. Wait you got off brand WKD?
- 1:11That makes it so much better. What an idiot.
- 1:19I went to the shop and I was like, oh, I need something for a
- 1:20cocktail that didn't have anything.
- 1:22I was just like, that's colourful, I'll do that.
- 1:25I the number of times I have disgraced myself with that
- 1:29drink, it has a very fun spot in my heart.
- 1:32It's like a liquid bad decision, slushie.
- 1:37Can you can you get drunk off it?
- 1:39I can it no. What?
- 1:41Is it like, I think with enough determination you can, yeah.
- 1:44Yeah. But you probably have to neck
- 1:46him. You might be wondering why we've
- 1:49all got alcoholic drinks tonight.
- 1:52It is because we had. Decisions.
- 1:55Last week I won the what was it coin toss or dice roll?
- 2:00Yeah. Dice roll.
- 2:01Yeah, so I picked the anime series bartender Glass of God,
- 2:10but instead of snacks this week, we thought we'd get drinks.
- 2:16We've both pre made some videos, Lee's made one as well, but I've
- 2:21already posted that the social, so you'll need to check that out
- 2:23on work, Facebook, Instagram, etcetera.
- 2:26But. Oh, worth it.
- 2:28If you really want to see a man talk to himself, go go check it
- 2:31out. Yeah.
- 2:33I've never heard someone make those noises before.
- 2:41One of the worst things I've ever done.
- 2:42It was worse than that egg that I ate like when I first came on
- 2:45here. The century egg.
- 2:47Oh, the century egg. Yeah, I'm sure you I still think
- 2:50like the look on your face when you the real, when your whole
- 2:54body decided to react before you'd consciously processed what
- 2:57had happened happening. Well, this drink it, this one
- 3:02didn't kick in straight away like it got in your mouth and
- 3:05then I swallowed it and then it was like.
- 3:07You look like you're going to tougher and then you don't.
- 3:11Yeah, it took a moment for like all the flavours to process
- 3:14because there was that many things to comprehend.
- 3:17Yeah. What was the worst part, do you
- 3:19think? The the tuna.
- 3:21Juice the tuna juice and I was like it stunk of fish and it
- 3:25tasted like fish but then like it just it all kicked in with
- 3:28all of the other flavours like the tomato and the egg and
- 3:33everything else was gross. Yeah.
- 3:37And if you're thinking that doesn't sound like it should be
- 3:39a cocktail, you're right. Go look at it.
- 3:42It's a vodka in and what's got like speculoos Baileys,
- 3:48biscuits, bread stuff, biscuit. Which all which I often drink
- 3:52and think do you know what this needs?
- 3:53Tomato, raw egg and tuna. Yeah.
- 3:59It was the colour after. Oh no, you put, you put
- 4:02mayonnaise in it as well, didn't you?
- 4:05Nope. Mayonnaise.
- 4:08Mayonnaise. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:11No, it didn't you a little bit of Nandos?
- 4:13It was like frothy and pink. It didn't.
- 4:17Look right, Lee, And I'm a fan of pink.
- 4:23It didn't look right. I wouldn't have put it in my
- 4:24mouth. Well, we'll find out.
- 4:28It's only called No. Who wants to go first?
- 4:32Who wants to go first for the drinks videos?
- 4:35Because both made one. We both made one, so I think we
- 4:39need to inform Lee what he's about to do so that he's paying
- 4:41attention while we play these. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:44So our regular listeners will know.
- 4:46And also hi to NE Nerd and Molly, who are in the chat, our
- 4:50regular listen talking of regular listeners.
- 4:53Our regular listeners will know that Chris and I this week this
- 4:56year are like competing to see who gets to pick a different
- 5:01anime. So this because it's a bartender
- 5:04we've done Last week we did some Instagram social warfare where
- 5:09we each made a promo video for an anime.
- 5:11Yep. And we'll reveal the results at
- 5:13the end of that. So keep watching for that.
- 5:15But for the week after, we're going to use this moment right
- 5:18here to decide. And Lee, you're going to pick
- 5:21the cocktail that you would actually drink.
- 5:24All right, that's not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
- 5:26He's like, oh, we're going to put you on the spot.
- 5:30We're going to put you on the spot though, and if you know
- 5:34we'll also it will affect our friendship over who you pick.
- 5:37So because this is very serious business.
- 5:41So I'm just saying. Just remember how you go for
- 5:43curries with. Just remember who you tell all
- 5:47your secrets to. Oh shit, it's awesome.
- 5:49Christmas. But remember who then tells me
- 5:54no? I'll be fair and impartial.
- 5:58I'll pick one that looks the best and sounds the best.
- 6:00I think we can always rely on you to be honest.
- 6:02So yeah, let's take it away. I'm happy to go first.
- 6:05Chris, if you want to save the, save the the best for last.
- 6:10This is also going to be great because I'm not sure if Lee will
- 6:13have sound, but let's go. I'll sorry you're going to go
- 6:17first. Yeah, I don't mind going first.
- 6:20Let's go, OK. Let's go.
- 6:22Hi have you had a cluster fuck of a day and need?
- 6:25I mean, I can't hear the cocktail so drink a way to
- 6:28reset. Everyone, yeah.
- 6:30You though. Well, have I got a drink for
- 6:32you? Basically, yeah.
- 6:34It was going to take what everyone takes in the fridge and
- 6:37they're going to shove him in a glass.
- 6:38Oh, it's actually is sound playing.
- 6:41Lee's just choosing to ignore it.
- 6:42So basically, I just took everything that I could, pouring
- 6:45it in from the fridge and poured it in, which happened to be some
- 6:48Fasaco, some Peach snacks, lemonade, lemonade.
- 6:52There we are. And I called it the.
- 6:54That'll do because, you know, it's not good.
- 6:58Nope, not good. It'll do.
- 6:59It'll do. Oh, Molly comes off amazing.
- 7:06Say that again. And So what did what did you
- 7:09think of that? Good.
- 7:10Would you try it? I would try it.
- 7:13I mean, look you. Saw what I you saw what I've
- 7:16tried today that's that's easily going to be drunk I.
- 7:20Have since adjusted the ratios and I found with a bit less
- 7:24Prosecco and a bit more Peach snaps and lemonade, it's
- 7:26actually very delicious. Peach snaps and the lemonade are
- 7:30thumbs up, but I'm not a fan of Prosecco.
- 7:32Yeah, it looks it looks advertising and refreshing.
- 7:36So. Thank you.
- 7:38Oh, well, Molly's just saying she can hear everything at we
- 7:42say, so we might have to, I don't know, be quiet or talk.
- 7:44I don't know. But.
- 7:46OK, we'll be quiet. I don't know if that was a
- 7:49subtle hint, Right. I'll put my drink on.
- 7:53Just remember the times we've spent drinking together.
- 7:56Lee at the Espresso Artino bar. Remember those those nights?
- 8:01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, here's my drink.
- 8:04So right, I've pre iced this. What's amazing here.
- 8:10What I'll do is we'll start off with you probably talk already
- 8:16and I've got some. Greek the.
- 8:19Thing is though, Chris, you said you weren't going to try.
- 8:24It's not grenadine, it's a what's that?
- 8:26It's like a sugar water stuff. A golf.
- 8:28A golf syrup. I think it.
- 8:32Does. Did you just say I was in your
- 8:33cupboard? Yeah, we went through a cocktail
- 8:36phase at Christmas. OK, from Christmas in the
- 8:39fridge. I'm just going to say double up.
- 8:47Yeah, put a bit extra in and then I've got some coffee that
- 8:51is not pretty cool yet, and that is coffee that I had ground
- 8:55myself and put through the coffee machines in the
- 8:57background there. I did say I wasn't going to make
- 9:01an effort, but I also want to win.
- 9:11We've got we've broken out the fancy glass too, yeah.
- 9:18But look at the garnish. Actually, that actually looks
- 9:27like a decent espresso martini. I'm I am impressed.
- 9:32Oh, and then thanks for Molly for being my camera woman.
- 9:37Oh, and if you want to see those videos without us talking over
- 9:40them in an incomprehensible bubble, you can check out
- 9:44Instagram. Yeah.
- 9:47And we'll upload some after this.
- 9:50What, what did you think about the the proper cocktail that I
- 9:52made Lee? No, I really like Thebes to be
- 9:57fair. What I.
- 10:00Wanted to see your reaction. No, it's a it's a no brainer.
- 10:05I'm sorry Thebes, but yeah, Chris gets 10 out of 10 for epic
- 10:11and presentation and he didn't go hot like I mean it.
- 10:16There was already a name to the cocktail, but that'll do.
- 10:19Wasn't really putting that much effort in there, Phoebes.
- 10:23I can't believe you're declare you were saying that I phoned
- 10:26in. So Chris has got it.
- 10:31Sorry. Yeah, that seems fair.
- 10:32No, that's OK. So we'll talk about what we're
- 10:34going to do at the end of at the end of this episode to keep
- 10:38watching. Wait a minute, this isn't to
- 10:41decide the animes that were on Instagram.
- 10:43The other. The other.
- 10:45No, no. So those will be separate.
- 10:46So we've done that challenge already.
- 10:48This will be for the week after so don't worry I'm.
- 10:51Sorry, I want you to do Cyberpunk not X Preston so much.
- 10:56I would have swapped me choice right there and then.
- 11:02No, this is for next week. I've I haven't actually got the
- 11:05numbers, but I'm just I'm I think I think I've.
- 11:08Lost, I think you're you were not a lonely but I'm going on
- 11:12to. I kept getting notifications
- 11:15where it's just like your video was hit hits in milestones.
- 11:18I'll check in it like it's Phoebes video, not my video.
- 11:23All right, I have a. 1000 Views. I know, that's amazing.
- 11:27Well done. I'm I'm not even going to I'm
- 11:32not even going to check the Facebook because it's got like
- 11:333-3 legs on each or something, but it's fine.
- 11:38It's fine. Hi Sammy and Paul and the
- 11:41traitors. It's not until half past so.
- 11:46So this is just just us backstabbing each other for fun.
- 11:50Yeah, yeah. So let's talk.
- 11:56Or should we talk Bartender Glass of God?
- 11:58This was your pick, Chris. Why?
- 12:00Why did you pick it? Because because there's two
- 12:03versions of this. There's a version that was
- 12:05released in 2006 and then there's a 2024 version which we
- 12:10watch, which is Glass of God. When I watched the 2006 version
- 12:14I remember being amazing and one of them animes where it's like
- 12:19proper palate cleanser from the normal shonen or death and
- 12:24destruction that I normally watch.
- 12:26I think I would have been probably been watching Berserk
- 12:28at the time and I needed like the equivalent of driving home
- 12:32with a radio off in silence and this was kind of it.
- 12:37So I thought January's been a shit month.
- 12:42It's been about 3 months since my last payday.
- 12:45I need like a nice, simple, calm, chill animator watch.
- 12:50So I just thought I'd pick this, but yeah.
- 12:53And this is the first time any of yous have seen this.
- 12:57And Lee, it's your first real delve into another genre, isn't
- 13:01it? I think I might have seen some
- 13:05kind of slice of life before, but don't think what.
- 13:12But this? I can't remember.
- 13:15This has got its own category. I caught a don't want to
- 13:19pronounce it in the Japanese name for a bit.
- 13:21It's basically a healing anime, it's called.
- 13:24So that's kind of the genre it's regarded as.
- 13:27So it's kind of tales where people are better in themselves,
- 13:30where you can watch it to kind of heal yourself as well.
- 13:33It's one of them feel good things where it's like tails
- 13:37just to perk you up a little bit without being too heavy.
- 13:41No one dies. Well, maybe I don't.
- 13:44Know no one, no one smashed with a glass into someone else's
- 13:46face. Yeah.
- 13:49Actually I might have watched something like that before.
- 13:51Would you class Death Note as that or?
- 13:53No, a lot of people die in Death Note.
- 13:57Quite, quite a lot. I think that's the premise of
- 13:59the whole series. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:05I think you're thinking of anything else.
- 14:08I'm just curious as well, what part of Death Note was uplifting
- 14:12and light? Yeah, what?
- 14:15Do you think healed you do? You know, do you know what?
- 14:19I was only joking, but every time L smiles, it brings warmth
- 14:23to my heart. I personally think you would do
- 14:28a really good L cosplay. I've done, I've done it before.
- 14:32I posted it in the discord one time.
- 14:34Oh. Nice, nice.
- 14:36Nice, I've posted it in our Instagram as well.
- 14:40Which of course I knew. Go check out the Instagram.
- 14:42How many times can we put the Instagram in one?
- 14:46Give give the Facebook some love.
- 14:47What? Yeah.
- 14:51So yeah, no, and I think it probably is a lovely palate
- 14:54cleanser. It's been a while since I've
- 14:56watched something where there where there are like no
- 14:58explosions. No, like the steaks feel very
- 15:03ordinary and everyday. Yeah.
- 15:05And there's also like a kind of craftsmanship to the actual
- 15:09cocktail making, which which does make you feel just like
- 15:12very like. Well, it's almost meditative.
- 15:17I've got something to say about it as well because the the did
- 15:22partner with Suntory, the Japanese liquor and spirits
- 15:28company, and besides, every drink that is shown on the anime
- 15:34is an actual cocktail. If you noticed on the bottles,
- 15:38they're all branded bottles as well.
- 15:41Yeah, and there's a Disaronno bottle there, wasn't it?
- 15:44I mean, that's what I remember. Mainly, yeah, there's also the
- 15:47the actual bottles I think are some of the things that are the
- 15:49most like attention to detail and liquor bottles are kind of
- 15:54beautiful, like labels on liquor bottles.
- 15:56And it's, they don't like, blur the details out.
- 16:01Like when there's a bottle on the bar, you see, like all of
- 16:04the fine intricate illustration and everything.
- 16:06It's really lovely. There's a, there's a London gin
- 16:08at one point where I was like, oh, if I bought that bottle, I'd
- 16:11probably keep it and stick a candle in it or something a bit,
- 16:14you know? Yeah, exactly.
- 16:18So the I mean there is a lot of product placement in this.
- 16:23It is kind of technically 1 long ad for alcohol, but they work
- 16:30with them to get all the actual cocktails right and how they
- 16:34behave and a little bit of history behind them because you
- 16:36do. It does go into the cocktails
- 16:39and how they were drunk and how people enjoy them and stuff.
- 16:42But yeah, so that that'll be why it's kind of got that
- 16:46craftsmanship behind it. But before you actually watch
- 16:51the first episode going in, when I said right, there's this anime
- 16:54called Bartender Glass of God. What did you think?
- 17:01So based just on the the title, I was like, is this going to be
- 17:05like people fighting to get a glass of God in a kind of like
- 17:09Holy Grail scenario? Because that's more the kind of
- 17:12anime that you usually recommend.
- 17:15Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But then when I saw the actual
- 17:21post, like cover for it on Crunchyroll, I was like, oh,
- 17:25this is different. I'm into like, I don't, yeah,
- 17:27let's give it a go because it is.
- 17:30A palate cleanse is a good way to describe it, I think.
- 17:33Yeah, it's cozy. Yeah, definitely.
- 17:36Well, I agree with you. I mean, even when Lee was
- 17:39watching it, he was talking to us on the Discord and he was
- 17:41just like, yeah, I've been smiling.
- 17:44It's it's been making my work day because I've been working
- 17:47really hard obviously, and not watching it and it's out of the
- 17:49background. I'm sure that's what you said.
- 17:52I'd be more productive than ever, Yeah.
- 17:55No, I was as productive as I normally AM for me.
- 18:00Going in, which is sufficient. I didn't go into it thinking
- 18:04like, oh, I wonder what this is going to be like or like I
- 18:07wonder how nice it's going to be all will this happen or what's
- 18:10going to be this? I just got that message from you
- 18:13in the one of the chats saying I didn't recommend this to leave
- 18:16because it's like it's nice and doesn't have any explosions.
- 18:19So I was just like, I'll fucking show you.
- 18:22I'm going to watch it. Enjoy it.
- 18:24Chris and I smiled for six hours watching every single episode.
- 18:30Was that out of spite though? Our show Chris the 1st.
- 18:36Like minute or something. It was just like, I'm going to
- 18:38watch this just to prove to you that I can watch something
- 18:40without explosion then. And then I just enjoyed the next
- 18:445 hours and 50 minutes or whatever.
- 18:46Oh. Brilliant because it is a short
- 18:48series. It's like 12 episodes. 11
- 18:50episodes. Yeah.
- 18:52We may in phoebes have watched the first 3 and you've watched
- 18:57all. I watched.
- 18:58I watched all of them. Oh did you?
- 19:01I've only watched 3. I watched all of them.
- 19:04I was like Lee. I was enchanted.
- 19:06I thought it was really easy to watch.
- 19:09Very relaxing. It's yeah, I watched it all.
- 19:15It was, it made me really happy. I finished work just as the last
- 19:19episode was finishing. Left the house with a smile on
- 19:22me face. Did the school run and then
- 19:24years ruined it by making us watch Jessica Flournier?
- 19:28I didn't make you. If anything, I was sitting there
- 19:30going don't do it, Lee. We did.
- 19:34We did Born Again and we actually made a full episode
- 19:38warning people that are watching books.
- 19:40Yeah, we've done our public service when it comes to escape
- 19:43loading. So I I think that's on you.
- 19:45I mean, if you want to do the opposite, if whatever we're
- 19:48saying, that's fine too. But but you were getting what
- 19:53it's actually about, bartender. Yeah.
- 19:56Because the glass of God kinda kinda refers to.
- 20:01That drink that is very specific to that person.
- 20:06So you get a lot. It's episodic with a loose
- 20:09storyline running through it and there's reoccurring characters.
- 20:12But the main premise, especially the 2006 one was different
- 20:16patrons coming to the bar to see this, this infamous famous
- 20:23bartender in his bar Eden Hall, which is a very hard to find
- 20:28place. You can only find it when you
- 20:31need it. Which is kind of a little bit of
- 20:34like a little bit of mysticism. There's AI can't remember if
- 20:38it's I think it's a Korean show, which is like the the Mystic pop
- 20:43up bar, which is a kind of similar concept, but I think
- 20:46it's like food instead of drink. And it's like AK drama where it
- 20:51pops up when people need like a a good meal and someone to talk
- 20:55to. It's very no.
- 21:00Is it? Is it?
- 21:00Which is got the same vibe as this?
- 21:05It's a little bit more like openly magical, whereas this
- 21:08feels just like almost. This feels very rooted in
- 21:12reality. Yeah, I mean, a lot of the
- 21:16people's problems could be solved by just talking.
- 21:19Yeah, well, and and in fact are. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:24So I need a magical bartender to give us some booze and tell us
- 21:28it's going to be all. Right, He doesn't even have to
- 21:31be that magical, he just needs to know how to make a really
- 21:33good drink. Yeah, yeah, they do look
- 21:37amazing. But yeah, that's a loose premise
- 21:40and you'll have someone coming in and I think the first episode
- 21:45it was a bit different, but you get the had a solicitor, a
- 21:49lawyer come in who was sheltering from the rain.
- 21:53She had some problems with her own self-image and she was sick
- 21:56of work. She had a cocktail.
- 21:58She's meant now. I mean, there is a lot more to
- 22:02it, but yeah. Yeah, I also like how the
- 22:06bartender has like an almost Detective E Sherlock Holmes
- 22:10approach to like he's, he'd like he's observing all the details
- 22:14about the patrons so that he can kind of decide like figure out
- 22:17what drink they need in this moment.
- 22:20That, that to me was that we, we talked about it before where
- 22:23there's a, there's a Japanese like philosophy or like way of
- 22:28thinking where to say, right, I've got this job, so I'm going
- 22:31to be the absolute best I can be at it.
- 22:35So I mean, there's this bartender that stares at someone
- 22:38he can, he knows when someone else is at his level because
- 22:42they have a little callus on the finger from shaking the cocktail
- 22:46mixer and he can tell what someone's job is by the
- 22:50briefcase and these, you know, those kind of very observant
- 22:53things. But yeah, it's.
- 22:57It's the the philosophy is Kodawari and Kaizen.
- 23:01So it's the philosophy of perfection where individuals set
- 23:05their own standards of excellence and strive for
- 23:07mastery in their craft. So it's deeply, it's also about
- 23:11like deeply personal and you do get to see some of the
- 23:14bartenders like own personal journey in some of the later
- 23:19episodes, which I think is those were some of my favorite bits
- 23:22where you're kind of learning about like why he wants to help
- 23:26people and make the perfect cocktail.
- 23:28It's kind of lovely. Right, but is he?
- 23:32Really good at his job. Or does he just see all these
- 23:34people coming in who are going, I'm really stressed and I'm
- 23:37going to turn to drink and he's just like, oh, it's clearly an
- 23:39alcoholic. So I'll just give them whatever
- 23:41the whatever comes to mind. They're going to imagine that
- 23:44they're up in some peaceful field somewhere fantasizing
- 23:47because alcohol is the answer and they're going to be fine.
- 23:53Also, like, no one's mean to a bartender when they're serving
- 23:56them a drink. Do you like?
- 23:57And if you are, you're an asshole.
- 24:00I've seen a lot of people being mean to bartenders.
- 24:04Oh yeah, maybe when you get too over served, but.
- 24:09Have you guys got a thing like an own personal thing like that?
- 24:16Oh, that you strive for perfection in.
- 24:18Yeah, I mean, it could be anything.
- 24:20It could be, I don't know, You could make the perfect fajita.
- 24:27I mean he is all good. Lee Lee's gravy is amazing, to
- 24:32be fair. Is that?
- 24:34Yeah. Yeah.
- 24:35He divulged the secret recipe to me and Molly last Christmas and
- 24:42I've been living on that high ever since.
- 24:45It's not so much of A secret recipe, it's just.
- 24:47Don't give it away. Don't.
- 24:48It's a simple thing that just, I don't think.
- 24:51I think it's more old people did it and now young people don't
- 24:54really do it. Is it just you you use the meat
- 24:56juices? No, that's sort of secrets.
- 24:59And pieces. OK, so I would, this is actually
- 25:04like, I'm going to give you a genuine answer rather than a
- 25:06joke answer. So I feel that way a little bit
- 25:10about singing, which is not something that I do for anyone
- 25:12else other than me really. And I will spend a lot of time
- 25:18like trying to, if I'm learning how to sing and play a song, I
- 25:22will spend a lot of time and it won't be the perfect song, but
- 25:25it's like, how can I sing this the best?
- 25:29And that genuinely like lifts my heart and makes me feel better
- 25:32about the world. So there we go.
- 25:34Oh no. I really like that.
- 25:36I've kind of got a similar thing where normally it's a weird
- 25:41thing that I see someone do on YouTube or in person and I have
- 25:47my own personal goal to do something where I think that's
- 25:51kind of good. That and then I'll be like, I'm
- 25:54good enough if you know what I mean.
- 25:56If I, if I slightly impressed myself or surprised myself, I'm
- 25:59like, I'm happy with myself. Now what?
- 26:03Do you mean like something that you see like?
- 26:06Something that you're in like the so something.
- 26:10So for example, lighters, I'll pick a recent one fixing them
- 26:18because buying them really cheap and I'm just like, well, I know
- 26:22how they work. I can fix them.
- 26:23And I did it for one that I bought for spares and repairs.
- 26:27And I was just like, yeah, I'm getting pretty good at this and
- 26:33editing as well for some reason, like I'll make stupid videos and
- 26:38I did that vlog I did the other day and or the other week.
- 26:42I was like. Oh, of the snow day vlog, I
- 26:44really liked that. Yeah.
- 26:47And I'm like, if I'm kind of surprise myself in stuff that
- 26:51I'm doing, then I've, I've wouldn't, I don't know.
- 26:55Nice, I do have. A semi serious answer, I mean
- 26:59like I do also I do also see things where like you said where
- 27:04you'll see someone on YouTube or see something in person be like
- 27:06oh I'm going to do that like learning how to lock pick or
- 27:09learn how to do a Rubik's Cube, things like that.
- 27:12I think that's probably autism that though.
- 27:14But my semi serious answer always have to be the weirdest.
- 27:22Like if if people task us with something I have to do the
- 27:26stupidest thing possible that everybody else is going to go
- 27:30what the fuck are you doing? Like why?
- 27:32Have anyone checked on Lee lately?
- 27:35Yeah. Yeah, I can buy that.
- 27:41That's fine. I can get behind that because it
- 27:44often is quite funny. Also, that wasn't me farting.
- 27:46I was just moving my chair forward because I had to let
- 27:49Eddie out. Yeah, just be really clear.
- 27:54So yeah, I'd say Phoebe tries to cover herself, farting down the
- 27:57mic. Would you guys ever pop into
- 28:00Eden Hall if you had the chance? Yeah, yeah.
- 28:05Would you give like a, would you give a problem?
- 28:07Would you be like, oh, I'm pissed off with Steve at work or
- 28:10I'm doing this? Or would you just be like,
- 28:12because me personally, I would go there and people watch
- 28:15because I love listen to other people's problems that don't
- 28:17affect me. It's one of my favorite.
- 28:19Things. And I thought, oh, is she having
- 28:22a problem? Problems down at the lawyer's
- 28:24office? I'll just get another cocktail
- 28:26and. So, like, have you ever seen the
- 28:31Mickey Flanagan? I'm going to have a peep, like
- 28:34on the neighbors. So Mickey Flanagan, the
- 28:36comedian, he talks about peeping on his neighbors through his
- 28:38curtains. And that for me is how I always
- 28:41think of Chris's approach to other people's problems.
- 28:43I'm just going to have a little peek.
- 28:47That is why I'm in most of the faith local Facebook groups
- 28:50across the UK. Yeah, you know more about the
- 28:54local gossip in my area than I do.
- 28:57Oh, I do watching for that. John, by the way, But yeah,
- 29:05would you stop in? Yeah, I'd pop it.
- 29:08I'd be curious about what he'd serve me as well if I was just
- 29:11like, do you know what? Make me something that you think
- 29:13I'll love. And I would be because I don't
- 29:17like coffee. I don't like creamy cocktails.
- 29:19Anything with milk in it can does not belong with alcohol.
- 29:22It's just not right. So, you know, I'd expect big
- 29:27things. What about you, Lee?
- 29:30There. Go in for a cocktail.
- 29:33But as a typical northern bloke I don't think I would bother
- 29:38telling them any problems, mainly because I'm a bloke and I
- 29:41don't speak about me problems. And secondly, I'm used to
- 29:45drinking in places like Gateshead.
- 29:46If I went up to the bar, I'm ordered, drink and then started
- 29:49going. I've been having a really tough
- 29:51time at work and and there's just like I've got this weight
- 29:54on me shoulders that be like, take a drink and fuck off.
- 29:59Yeah, true. Moving along, she didn't get
- 30:03paid enough to pull pints and listen to you.
- 30:06Exactly. Yeah.
- 30:09Fast, that's fine, but but what if he was to say, Oh well, and
- 30:14they I can see by the worry lines around your eyes that
- 30:18something's weighing down in you and I can tell by your phone
- 30:22wallpaper that you have you have a child and blahdy blah, and it
- 30:25looks like you're having this problem.
- 30:27So have AI don't know a rum and coke.
- 30:33It's. Fine, yeah, always go for a
- 30:36Roman Coke. I wouldn't, I wouldn't bother
- 30:38with me problems or I'd probably just make something stupid up
- 30:40and be like, do you know what? It's really difficult living
- 30:43with a big Dick and just see what he says.
- 30:48He would say it sounds like it's really difficult living with the
- 30:52the lies you tell yourself. It must be hard to be so
- 30:58disillusioned with the world. You you check back at the nerdy
- 31:03of North Law and you'll find out apparently it's 14 inches.
- 31:07Stop telling me to look up your penis, I will not do it.
- 31:13If you ask me one more time, I'm going to HR, which I assume is
- 31:16Sammy. Yeah, she's in the chat.
- 31:19Probably, Yeah. Yeah.
- 31:23Also hijacks of Wolf Studios. Cheers.
- 31:25Cheers. Cheers.
- 31:27Cheers. Cheers.
- 31:28I feel like as a as a pretending bartender, I should read the
- 31:32spin. But if I was a bartender, I
- 31:34would sit back and listen to everyone's problems and then go
- 31:37into the back room and say, Can you believe what Lee just said?
- 31:42I I was thinking about this because also this this show
- 31:46makes makes being a bartender look like the most kind of
- 31:51indulgent and like artisanal experience.
- 31:55But it doesn't talk about like when you have to go down and
- 31:58change the lines or when you're having to clean up puke at the
- 32:00toilets or. Yeah, that, that's.
- 32:03When someone smashes a window just because they're pissed off
- 32:06that you cut them off. Have you just worked as a
- 32:09bartender before? I haven't.
- 32:13I did. I was a bartender for quite a
- 32:15while in Chester New Street and I got asked to make cocktails
- 32:20one time that I can remember. And it was a jug.
- 32:22It was a jug of something. I didn't know where the menu
- 32:25was. And the last was like, oh, it's
- 32:27blue. And it was just like, I'll just
- 32:29took everything in that's blue and add lemonade.
- 32:32And it was really strong. Probably, I probably put way too
- 32:35much stuff in that I should have and, and they were drinking
- 32:39like, oh, this is amazing. It's really strong.
- 32:41And it's like it's class. And they were just, they were
- 32:44just young anyways, so. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:47Hopefully they were old enough though.
- 32:50I I knew who the worst. I knew they were old enough
- 32:51anyway. All right, but actually that
- 32:55that leads us on to me next point is what did you think of
- 32:59the way this anime portrays drinking culture?
- 33:03Because all I could think was who nips into a bar after work
- 33:09or next one cocktail. And then it's just like, cheers
- 33:13bartender, see you later. It made me think that Japanese.
- 33:19Well, first of all, I don't know if this is a fair reflective.
- 33:24It's it's a kind of health. Of Japanese drinking culture.
- 33:28I think this is a reflection of the ideal drinking culture,
- 33:32where you're going literally to enjoy the drink, not to get
- 33:35drunk. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:37There's no salary. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:40You don't see anyone kind of leaving going, do you?
- 33:42I fancy now kebab. Yeah.
- 33:47No one's ordering a packet of crisps.
- 33:49That's also weird. They do have the have the little
- 33:54bowl of nibbles. Yeah, but come on, when was the
- 34:00last time you went into it like a pub and got nibbles?
- 34:05Was it like the boss where they sit on the ball like pissy nuts
- 34:07and stuff? No, that's what it should be.
- 34:13So I've, I've heard in Japan when you go to bars or small
- 34:18places like that, they give you a like a small plate or a bowl
- 34:25of something kind of like nuts. But that's how they justify
- 34:29service charge because you don't tip them or anything.
- 34:32But it would sort of be like that's $2.00 for this bowl of
- 34:36nuts, which you might not eat, you might not want, but it's
- 34:39you've got to have it if you sit down kind of thing.
- 34:42But that's their kind of tip because obviously them nuts or
- 34:45whatever it is comes, it's bought in bulk and they get it
- 34:49for like a penny and we'll give you it.
- 34:52So I think that's all that is. I don't think there's pissy nuts
- 34:55because it's not a communal 1I. Had.
- 35:00To close that one, I remember going to a pub in Anik and it
- 35:04was a work of men's club and I think it was around Christmas
- 35:08and, and the barman put a big bowl of tripe on the on the bar
- 35:14and it do you know how it looks like whites, like, I don't know,
- 35:17like seaweed or something? And all these old men, they were
- 35:21absolutely loving it. It was like, do you know, you
- 35:23ever seen zombies eat a corpse in the films?
- 35:28Honestly, stuff was flying all over.
- 35:31There was like pension books everywhere.
- 35:33It was mental. That is crazy.
- 35:37When I used to get Kaiser me dog the raw dog food stuff because
- 35:42apparently feeding them raw stuff is really good, but it's
- 35:44just too expensive. But I was I found this like raw
- 35:47pet food shop and one of the rules of stuff was a like tripe
- 35:51stuff and it was one of the worst smelling things ever.
- 35:55It smelled worse than that drink, and that's the end
- 35:58something. Do you taste it?
- 36:02No. I reckon if you, if you did that
- 36:07now, and we dare to, I think you would.
- 36:10Yeah, of course. Nobody, nobody dare us to do it.
- 36:14I know, but. I mean, have you, have you tried
- 36:18forget your dog's name and have you, have you tried your dog's
- 36:20treats? Baby, I some of them I have, and
- 36:24here's the thing. I think all we actually, I don't
- 36:26even think we'd need to dare Lee.
- 36:27All we'd have to say is Hey, Lee, we're going to try dog
- 36:30treats and then film it for Instagram and Lea be right.
- 36:33I need to get the weirdest and most disgusting dog treat and
- 36:36make sure that my dog treat video is the most heinous.
- 36:41You wouldn't even see us eating a dog treat, you'd just see us
- 36:43with the tin of wet dog food and a fork.
- 36:45Just. Weirdly, that's what we're doing
- 36:48next week in a. Bath and a kibble, yeah.
- 36:53So we're saying no to dog treats as bar snacks.
- 36:57Is that is that the tangent we've gone on?
- 36:58I think. So it.
- 37:01Depends, some of them taste like be jerky so it's yeah not bad.
- 37:07I mean there's quite a few times as a kid I've it's like cut
- 37:10treats but you can get chocolate ones.
- 37:13It's the very similar to normal chocolate puddings.
- 37:15They just taste a bit like grainier.
- 37:18Yeah, and a bit carroty. Yeah.
- 37:19Because it's carab instead of like the poisonous Coco stuff.
- 37:23Yeah. Yeah, but I used to, we used to
- 37:26have hamsters and you had like little strawberry yoghurt drops.
- 37:31I've tried one of them. They were all right.
- 37:34Yeah. All right.
- 37:36So we're saying this and Lee's thinking, I need to, I need to,
- 37:39I would do them. I need to eat food directly from
- 37:48Kaiser's mouth. I'm.
- 37:52Trying to think if I've done that before or not.
- 37:55I might hope, I don't know. The fact that you don't know is
- 37:59worrying, yeah, because that's the kind of thing you should
- 38:02absolutely know. Anyway, back to the anime.
- 38:08Did. Did you have any favorite
- 38:11stories account? As obviously used to watch more
- 38:14than me so and Lee has already told us about the the smoking
- 38:19one. Yeah, I love that.
- 38:23What? What is it Ryu or Ryu?
- 38:25Like a Carnbury's name now. I think it's Ryu, yeah.
- 38:29What a Dick, right? So these two people come into
- 38:33the bar, one of them is sitting at the bar already with a lit
- 38:36cigar, and another guy comes in who's just like, oh, I've just
- 38:40quit smoking and it's really difficult.
- 38:41And he sees the woman smoking at the bar and probably goes off
- 38:44with, goes off it with her, snaps a cigar in half and then
- 38:49leaves. He feels bad.
- 38:51So he comes back in like every night waiting for and he's got a
- 38:54box of cigars and she comes in and she's like, yeah, I don't
- 38:57smoke. And he's like, oh, well, I've
- 38:58quit smoking. Neither of them want it.
- 39:01Rio. He's like, well, how about I
- 39:03leave these cigars behind the bar and you just can come in and
- 39:06smoke them together. And he convinces the non-smoker
- 39:09to take off smoking and the person who's quit to continue
- 39:13smoking. And also, it's not just smoking,
- 39:16it's smoking cigars, which are the worst thing for your body.
- 39:21That's like smoking like 50 cigarettes in one go.
- 39:28Yeah. So would you say that's your
- 39:30favorite story? I.
- 39:33Mean it's funniest one. What about you thieves?
- 39:41I so there are two that I can talk about, an early one that
- 39:44you might. I mean at this stage the the
- 39:47gates are loose so you may as well just mention anyone that
- 39:49you want. Great.
- 39:51So towards the end you have there's like a whole thing with
- 39:54his mentor where he goes to like help his mentor do like one last
- 39:58drink and it's like him, another guy that was mentored by the
- 40:02same guy and then this like really old bartender who knows
- 40:05everything and it's just like full of deep wisdom.
- 40:09And by far that's my favorite bit, especially where they're
- 40:12like making the cocktail together and everyone in them.
- 40:15It's like all the regular characters have gathered round
- 40:17to like witness this like monumental thing.
- 40:21And then they also at one point light shots, light shots on the
- 40:27bar for all the bartenders who've gone before.
- 40:32And they like make it like this is like a thing that all
- 40:35bartenders do for each other. And I don't, I know it's not
- 40:40true, but I like the I like the ritual of it.
- 40:43I like the kind of honouring of it's like a kind of like it's in
- 40:47honour to those people who have taught us great lessons in life
- 40:50kind of episode because we've all got that teacher at school
- 40:55that without that one teacher, we would have like turned out
- 40:58like an idiot. Do you know what I mean?
- 40:59Like there's no, no, OK, I had. We had it.
- 41:05Out Mrs. J who was my drama drama teacher at school she was
- 41:11amazing and like and I just like when I was watching that I was
- 41:14like to Mrs. J, you know that's. Nice.
- 41:19We had a maths teacher called Mr. I call him Mr. R He used to
- 41:24wear a pink cardigan all the time wrapped around his
- 41:26shoulders. So we always used to call him
- 41:28weird things in the early 2000s. And he used to live with his mom
- 41:31so that we didn't really have teachers we could look up to.
- 41:34But. I can't even Remember Me form
- 41:38shooters name. Right, he was before.
- 41:42But this guy used to tell me off every single day, even when I
- 41:46didn't do anything wrong. So I was turned around facing
- 41:50away from him one day, doing me homework for me next lesson.
- 41:53And he told us to turn around. And I was like, I'm just doing
- 41:55me homework. I'll turn around when I'm done.
- 41:57And he was like, turn around now.
- 41:58And I was like, no. And he was like, get outside
- 42:00now. I'm going to speak to your mom
- 42:02after school because he he fancied me mum and he would just
- 42:06make any excuse to tell us off to speak to me mum after school.
- 42:08You'd show up and be like, oh, hello there Mrs. Davis.
- 42:11But he was like this big lanky 7 foot guy with massive ears that
- 42:15were out here somewhere. Did you have really dark hair
- 42:18and pale skin and. We had like early blonde messy
- 42:22hair, but this time when he sent it outside for doing me homework
- 42:27while I was outside, he was screaming at us in the cover
- 42:30door. They slammed through his ruler,
- 42:31rubber and ruler into the air, smashed one of the lights and I
- 42:35swear down you open the door when Chris stop it and then
- 42:38close the door and then the glass all over the bag, over the
- 42:41tables and he's shouting at me. But did you just refer to
- 42:44yourself as Chris? No, no, it was one of me, one of
- 42:49my mates, Chris, like I had another friend at school who
- 42:53spelled his name properly. Kris.
- 43:03Oh, OK, so it was like, as in he was much more lenient on your
- 43:07mate Chris than he was on you? Didn't smash the light but I was
- 43:10doing my homework but he wanted to see me mom and flirt with her
- 43:15but bartender anyway so. Enough about your stepdad.
- 43:21I would have to not. My mom looks exactly like me but
- 43:24without a beard and red hair. So if you think my mom.
- 43:28'S a silly card. See me as well, but right back
- 43:34to bartender. So out of the three episodes
- 43:37that you've seen, Chris was the old guy coming in who kept
- 43:42complaining about all of the drinks and going this drink.
- 43:45It's horrible. I don't want it.
- 43:47Yeah. That I love that.
- 43:49That was one of my favorite. Stories.
- 43:51Yeah, because. It just wasn't going to.
- 43:53Be my early my early on story. Yeah, I love that one too.
- 43:57The cocktail was called Old Pal, wasn't it?
- 44:01Old fashioned. No, no, it was it was Old
- 44:03Powell. It wasn't old fashioned.
- 44:05It wasn't like a whiskey, whatever.
- 44:07Yeah, it was it was a cocktail that had three different.
- 44:10But a lot of the people that I've seen reviewing this have
- 44:14actually made the cocktails from the series and a lot, a lot of
- 44:18them have said that that was their favorite.
- 44:21Oh. Interesting.
- 44:24Yeah, my, my mind's wandering a bit now because I'm sorry.
- 44:27I mean, our minds have wandered all episode.
- 44:29We've just talked about things other than bartender all.
- 44:31Like your your mind's only just wondering.
- 44:35It's all right. I can't think of an old
- 44:38fashioned without thinking of South Park.
- 44:41Yeah, me too. I.
- 44:42Don't know if you've seen. Yeah, it's like, oh, I love a
- 44:45good old fashioned like, well. Speaking of old fashioned
- 44:51picture the scene me and you Lee have been a secret boys club and
- 44:55we've just had a lot of meat at a steak restaurant and we've
- 45:02seen Phoebe outside. She's porn at the window because
- 45:04we wouldn't invite her in. We've met after and we said, oh,
- 45:08let's. Head to the boys club.
- 45:10Let's head to the pub after what?
- 45:13What steak, anyway? What drink would you order?
- 45:17Then you can go first. Hopefully it's the same answer
- 45:20that you gave us before. What have we?
- 45:22Just what have we just ate? Steak.
- 45:25Lots of steak. Probably just go for a pint or
- 45:29something. Shut up.
- 45:31What cocktail? What he said that because you
- 45:34were like, hopefully it's the same answer as before.
- 45:36No, I think after steak a nice cocktail I have would be a
- 45:40Margarita because it's salty, it's got a bit of bitterness and
- 45:45like Tang to it, and it's also quite refreshing and I think it
- 45:49would complement the steak very nicely.
- 45:52Would it help you deal with the fact that you've got a your old
- 45:55teacher as your stepdad now as well?
- 45:58That old teacher can fuck off. Luckily, there you go, Lee.
- 46:02Oh, forget. It.
- 46:05Get that down here? What about you, Phoebe?
- 46:11I'm a fan of a Peach, a Peach cocktail and obviously what's
- 46:20good. I actually gave you two options
- 46:23and I'm now trying panicking, wondering which one did you
- 46:25choose? So I think I said if you
- 46:27wouldn't let me into Secret Boys Club, I would choose an Amaretto
- 46:30sour if you. Well, I'll give you that.
- 46:33I'll stop. I'll stop you there and I'll
- 46:34give you the one of them. Look elite.
- 46:37There's an amaretto, so. Yeah.
- 46:41So much secret boys club being the secret minds.
- 46:46Secret Boys Club is the most ridiculously not a secret secret
- 46:50in the world. Like even Eddie's kicking off
- 46:53about it. And not only that, but Chris has
- 46:55an actual song for it which is just Secret Boys Club.
- 47:00I thought you meant it like actually went out and like
- 47:01composed a song. Well, I'm in the pool tonight.
- 47:06And we're going to Secret Boys club.
- 47:08Secret boys. Club.
- 47:12I am in the process of getting the rights to to that those
- 47:16lyrics or keep an eye on my Instagram.
- 47:20Time to copyright that straight away before someone steals it.
- 47:27Not secret boys club. Good idea.
- 47:29Secret Boys Club doesn't sound like something where people go
- 47:32for curries and stuff though. It's literally sounds like we're
- 47:36going to go and like circle jerk each other or something.
- 47:39Yeah, yeah. And maybe we should call it
- 47:42Secret Men's Club as well, because it doesn't just sound
- 47:44like. Yeah, well, that sounds a bit
- 47:47better. Go to some kind of island.
- 47:49Anyway, so talk about the series and the episode that you've
- 47:52liked. Is there anywhere, anything that
- 47:55was not covered about drinking culture that you would want
- 48:00covered in an episode? Because we've mentioned salary
- 48:03men being sick at the toilet and the general cramp pot of being a
- 48:08bartender, but is there anything that you would want to see or as
- 48:11someone who has a certain problem?
- 48:15Are you trying to get us to confess it with Alcoholics?
- 48:19Maybe. Maybe so.
- 48:22I genuinely think there is something about you're on a
- 48:27night out, right? Everyone's like sipping away at
- 48:30their drink, having a nice time, and then one mentalist comes
- 48:35back from the the with a tray and goes shots.
- 48:41And you know just then that your night has derailed and that
- 48:44beautiful moment where everyone's like, oh, I
- 48:47shouldn't, but I'm gonna, yeah, pretend I'm 20 and I can still
- 48:53do this. I love that.
- 48:56Shots, shots, shots. And also booze bullying.
- 49:01I feel like booze bullying wasn't covered in this anime,
- 49:04but it's a serious problem that we need to talk about.
- 49:06And that is the friend who will not, who won't not let you
- 49:10drink, but who will bully you into getting not only drunk, but
- 49:14slaughtered. I do think that's a problem, but
- 49:20I don't think that's a problem between like, say, when me and
- 49:22Lee went out. Like, do you want another drink?
- 49:24No, thanks. OK.
- 49:27Yeah. That's and that's perfectly
- 49:30respectable, but those Billy still exists.
- 49:33I'm like I'm I'm not strong enough to carry you or clean up
- 49:36you're sick or pay for a dodgy and clean up free in a taxi.
- 49:40So I'm OK with the not get by. You know the drink.
- 49:44You know, I think I might have grown past that, but back in the
- 49:46day I was like a proper drinks bully.
- 49:48Like I remember working for, I'll not name them, but me
- 49:51driving a certain company and being out on like nights out
- 49:54with them and being like, wow, you got bombs, you got bombs.
- 49:56I'm like, I've got a driving test tomorrow and it's like,
- 49:58it's fine. Not just drinking.
- 50:04It'd be fine. You'll be fine.
- 50:06What about you? But that's what you mean about
- 50:08shots. Shots get derailed.
- 50:10Shots, shots, shots, shots, shots, shots.
- 50:13That's when your nights got off the rails.
- 50:16I will be having shots at silicon.
- 50:19Oh yeah. Yeah, dressed as a pig.
- 50:30What about you, Lee? Is there anything not covered
- 50:33that you would like to see or anything at all?
- 50:37Well, I mean, this is a typical question again, because I'm not
- 50:41used to Japanese drinking culture.
- 50:43I'm just used to Northeast drinking culture.
- 50:47So the kind of things that I see aren't going to be the things
- 50:49that I see on shows like this, like.
- 50:52There's not going to wear us in the country.
- 50:54There's not going to be some floozy standing at the end of
- 50:56the bar in like the a skirt so small that it should be classed
- 51:00as a belt and don't. Fall over ourselves he chooses.
- 51:05But what he chooses to wear on a night out, he's allowed to
- 51:07insulate body. He can choose.
- 51:10There's no last has fallen over because of that drunk and you
- 51:12see in some badly packed kebab before you even get called boss
- 51:16man. And there's no like losers
- 51:20sitting at like the table behind you in like Wetherspoons or
- 51:23wherever going. Oh, my friends just had a bad
- 51:27breakup. Send drinks to table 39 please.
- 51:30He can put it on Facebook because that's a thing now.
- 51:34Yeah, yeah. Wow.
- 51:37I mean, I mean in in pubs like in Japan it is normally AI mean.
- 51:44I've never been. So I've I've heard on the street
- 51:47where it is a very intimate setting where you have tiny
- 51:50bars, but you have a lot of them.
- 51:52So you'd poke your head around the door and they'd be like 4
- 51:55seats and they'll be like 2 salary men getting mortal in a
- 52:00couple in the corner. Would you prefer that over the
- 52:04Wetherspoons begging? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I, I, but also
- 52:14I like her. Like if I'm going to like a pub,
- 52:16like the smaller and pokier and more like, full of weird stuff
- 52:20on the walls and, you know, like bottles that no one's touched
- 52:24for a generation behind the bar. Like, I want that.
- 52:28That's my idea of a perfect pub. Maybe there's some old guy who
- 52:31ever like once a month on a Friday, breaks out a guitar and
- 52:35we all pass the hat around like that's the pub.
- 52:39Yeah, the pulp of my dreams. I think I'm allowed.
- 52:43I don't think I'm allowed in a Wetherspoons.
- 52:46When you when you try and go in, don't ask for your National
- 52:49Insurance number to make sure you've paid no tax that year and
- 52:52then they'll let you in. Yeah, that is a key part of it.
- 52:58You have to really hate the welfare state to drink in a
- 53:01Wetherspoon. It's ironic, but actually
- 53:05phoebes are reminders after this.
- 53:07I've got the the perfect pub for you around here as well.
- 53:10Oh, nice. OK.
- 53:12Yeah, sweet. I'm for a minute I thought you
- 53:15were like, remind me after this not to pay my taxes.
- 53:17It's going. To be like a week.
- 53:25Away. Let's not talk about that while
- 53:26we're live. That's how Jimmy Carr got
- 53:30caught. Yeah.
- 53:32What would you recommend bot in the glass of God to a friend
- 53:38that might not necessarily have seen an anime before?
- 53:41Yeah. Yeah, hands down, I so and I
- 53:44would recommend it between series if you're just coming off
- 53:46the back of a really intense series and you just need
- 53:50something before you get really into something else that will
- 53:53just like lift you. And you don't have to watch all
- 53:57of it. You don't even have to watch
- 53:58every episode. It's very episodic.
- 54:00You can easily follow and dip into it.
- 54:03I'd recommend it, yeah. I mean, I only watched three.
- 54:06What about you Lee? Would you recommend this to
- 54:09someone? I've recommended it already this
- 54:11week. On the way 22 like what context
- 54:17was? One of me friends, one of me
- 54:21friends messages isn't like asked us about what anime is I'm
- 54:23watching and stuff because he watches a lot of like action
- 54:27explosion kind of things. So I was like, oh, but you
- 54:32should try this. It's it's not the normal thing
- 54:34that we would watch, but have a look at it.
- 54:36It's really nice. Yeah, I I genuinely do like it.
- 54:41I hope I have time to eventually finish it someday someday.
- 54:50But do you guys have anything else to add?
- 54:54What likes dislike about bartender?
- 54:56Because I think it's me for questions.
- 54:59I've got a question for you. For me.
- 55:02Oh, OK. How would you compare this to
- 55:05the 2006 version? Oh, good question.
- 55:09So I think the main differences are the 2006 version was more
- 55:17focused on the patrons as opposed to the loosely loose
- 55:21storyline that I've seen in the first 3 episodes of the
- 55:24Bartender. And, and I don't know, I do like
- 55:29a bit of continuity and a bit of bit of serialisation, but I also
- 55:33like a like a problem of the week kind of episode.
- 55:36So I think it's two different things and you cannot compare
- 55:40them. Both relax and both give us the
- 55:42same kind of fuzzy feel, fuzzy nostalgia feeling.
- 55:49It's a hard one. I'm going to say because the new
- 55:53one's fresh in me memory, I like the new one better, but I think
- 55:58you'd have to give them both a chance to see it this slower
- 56:01paced. But yeah.
- 56:05My question is how many likes do you think you got on Instagram
- 56:13because we're now going to do what's on next week.
- 56:18So I think I've got about 10 less than you or maybe 15 less
- 56:24than you. OK, I'm.
- 56:28Going to guess 51 for Chris. I haven't looked, that's just.
- 56:32Nice. So on Instagram, Chris, you have
- 56:36a very respectable 49 likes. I'm I'm chuffed, alert.
- 56:41So for that's for the anime X, what looks to be a gothic, A
- 56:47gothic vintage fantasy. I got 58.
- 56:53Oh, so cyberhunk, do you know what it is with the beginning of
- 56:57competition? And I would have gloated and
- 57:00rubbed it in your face. If I won't, I'll accept my loss
- 57:04like a true gentleman because I really want to see a face.
- 57:11Interesting. I look forward to your rant in
- 57:15the DMS later. Hauling me.
- 57:21I've played I've played the Cyberpunk game.
- 57:23I wasn't that big of a fan of it, but I did play it when it
- 57:26was still bugged. So I've been recently Ben and I
- 57:31have been playing through it together and I've been enjoying
- 57:37it very much. It is still very buggy but it
- 57:40has like a level of detail and like artistry in the in the
- 57:46world building that makes me very excited to see the anime.
- 57:52I am got auto saved in a room where I just killed all of these
- 57:56people that had run in after us but someone's gun was left
- 57:59floating in the air shooting and I could not get back out of this
- 58:03room. So that rage quit and that was
- 58:06the last time I played it. But the enemy?
- 58:08That feels like character floor loose.
- 58:11So the anime does look good. So we're going to do edge
- 58:12runners. Edge runners.
- 58:15Address so Jacksonville studio saying both animes look good.
- 58:19So my anime was picked purely on aesthetic because after looking
- 58:25up reviews because I haven't watched it yet, but all the
- 58:29reviews say it's 30 minutes of story and the film's 90 minutes
- 58:33long and the visuals are absolutely stunning but the
- 58:39storyline is a bit lacking which is fair and that's fine.
- 58:45That's fine, that's very odd of the three of the 90s anime.
- 58:50The animation in X was amazing. Like I really like the style,
- 58:55but it was just the dialogue. It's just, it was like somebody
- 58:59wrote it and they were just like, I'm going to try and put
- 59:00in every cool word I can think of and they're like the star of
- 59:04foreshadowing is in the Sky Dragon Knight.
- 59:07It's like, but it hasn't explained any of what these
- 59:10things are. It's just telling you like cool
- 59:12words and trying to make you think that it's cool.
- 59:16Cyberpunk. It does have a good storyline.
- 59:19It's it just immediately gets you hooked.
- 59:22But the animation like it made us think of like Ben 10 or
- 59:25something like that. Like it's.
- 59:27I'm into that. I don't mind that.
- 59:29A little bit of oh, like old school Samurai Jack vibes.
- 59:32Yeah, I'm here for it. Here for it.
- 59:35Yeah, yeah. We're watching Cyberpunk next
- 59:40week, but what are we? What's our theme for the week
- 59:43after? Yes.
- 59:45So we've we've decided because obviously we're going to go head
- 59:49to head every every week with these with these games or
- 59:52challenges that we're doing either through I think once a
- 59:55month we're going to do something on the social medias,
- 59:57but otherwise Orangey or someone judging.
- 1:00:02But but you won, sorry. So you get to pick.
- 1:00:08Are you winning? Are you picking the theme or are
- 1:00:09you? Do you pick the anime now
- 1:00:11because you won the cocktail challenge?
- 1:00:13No, no, I'm going to say because I lost that as a consolation
- 1:00:17prize, I won the air to pick the the theme of the next one.
- 1:00:23So basically the the next anime, which would be in two weeks.
- 1:00:27I want to pick a creature anime. Oh, OK.
- 1:00:32We've got to both got to put forward an anime that has
- 1:00:36heavily features a creature or creatures, and we're going to
- 1:00:41have to play for who wins that one.
- 1:00:45I know exactly what I'm going to pick already.
- 1:00:48So do I, so do I. Do you know?
- 1:00:50Do you know what can you say or do you want to say?
- 1:00:54Yeah, I'm happy to say it. OK, I'm picking the original
- 1:00:56Pokémon movie. I mean, that's not Creatures.
- 1:01:02The original one with MU and MU 2.
- 1:01:03That's the one I'm picking. All right, so when we when we
- 1:01:07started this, we wanted to watch new anime that we'd not seen
- 1:01:09before, so my. Daycare.
- 1:01:15But this theme, which I sneakily had to Google there, is called M
- 1:01:20the Faraway Paladin. So it is basically as a young
- 1:01:24child, a baby is abandoned in a dungeon.
- 1:01:31So this child grows up in a dungeon raised by the, the
- 1:01:35enemies we saw it there be the, the skeletons, the do you know
- 1:01:41all the like AD and D dungeon where you get like beholders and
- 1:01:44stuff like that and orcs and trolls and stuff.
- 1:01:47This small human child is raised by them and he has to defend the
- 1:01:52dungeon from the from the the good guys and the heroes that
- 1:01:58come to plunder this dungeon. So it's a bit of a role role
- 1:02:02reversal. I just thought it was
- 1:02:03interesting. But how am I going to compete
- 1:02:06against Pokémon? I'm just glad that it's an RNG
- 1:02:09game and not a game of popularity, because obviously
- 1:02:12Pokémon's going to smash it every time.
- 1:02:14It's coming up to its third year anniversary of the games.
- 1:02:19Yeah, which is? I'm just keeping an eye on the
- 1:02:23chat because I imagine somewhere Jake is just be like I feel the
- 1:02:26disturbance in the force and expect them to just pop into the
- 1:02:30chat. But yeah, anyway, and.
- 1:02:37Yeah, I mean, it's hard to compete with it because I mean,
- 1:02:40you want to be the best, the very best, but no one ever was.
- 1:02:46Is the real test to train them? Is your cause?
- 1:02:50Whatever? Shall we travel across the land?
- 1:02:54You're gonna have to shut me down.
- 1:02:55I will keep going. Yeah, on that note, I'm going to
- 1:02:59say thanks very much for joining with this weekly.
- 1:03:02It's been amazing having you on with your bartending experience
- 1:03:05and your videos that you've put out on check out our Instagram
- 1:03:10and Facebook. Anyway, yeah, and and as always
- 1:03:13Phoebe and till next week we will watch as always.
- 1:03:18Let's not speak until next week. Me and me and Lee always, always
- 1:03:24talking in the DMS Anyway, right till next.
- 1:03:27Week Boys club bye bye.
