- 0:05In this podcast, I'm going to be talking about what motivates you
- 0:09and ways that you can help be motivated.
- 0:12And also sharing some motivational tips that I use
- 0:14every single day to help overcome issues with autism.
- 0:27I just thought this would be a really cool thing to do for
- 0:30this. I want to talk about what
- 0:31motivates you or what motivates me.
- 0:33So me personally, like, I love being motivated.
- 0:37I get super motivated and the drive for motivation is the
- 0:40driver being alive to ever get that kind of feeling that you
- 0:42like. Dang.
- 0:43I'm alive and this is such a good opportunity and like not
- 0:47many people get to experience this, you know, like loads
- 0:50people are alive, but I mean that experience of feeling,
- 0:52okay. I'm alive.
- 0:53Yeah. I know.
- 0:53It's an opportunity. I'm going to seize the day and
- 0:55actually do something about it and I feel So motivating, it's
- 0:58like the best thing ever. So to me what motivates me is
- 1:01being alive and also the idea the passion to do something
- 1:05amazing. Now a lot of people with like
- 1:07autism have issues where they get bogged down in the the
- 1:11anxiety and the depression and the negative thoughts.
- 1:14But on the contrary what you should do is focus on the things
- 1:16that you're amazing at. So, I know people are just like,
- 1:18absolutely phenomenal at Minecraft.
- 1:21They're absolutely outrageous at like naming.
- 1:24All the Pokemon in the world or knowing being like, the Put on
- 1:27something. Now.
- 1:28Those things are so unique to that person that I just say to
- 1:32them. Hey, you know, that could be
- 1:35your entire life or your passion.
- 1:37So, like, for me making YouTube videos, I just love what I do.
- 1:40I love making videos. I love making content of
- 1:42creating stuff and by doing that, I was able to make a job
- 1:45out of it, which help me out because I couldn't work the
- 1:47typical kind of job. And so it motivates me every
- 1:49single day to get up and go. Okay, how am I going to make a
- 1:51difference today? Because I'm helping people make
- 1:54a difference because I'm alive and I love that feeling of them
- 1:56came alive. And so to me, helping people is
- 2:01the second biggest movie. So I get up because I'm alive
- 2:03and I love that that motivates me to go to bed then how do I
- 2:06what do I do my work? How do I, how do I make this
- 2:08count? And that's exactly it.
- 2:09If you make your work account, every day is going to be
- 2:13motivating. So I'm helping people every
- 2:14single day and I'm trying to help improve lives improve
- 2:17conditions to change, people's ideas and things understand,
- 2:19educate Advocate. I just love, I just love it all.
- 2:23And when you love something like that, it's your biggest
- 2:26motivator. So if your Can a job and you
- 2:28absolutely despise, or you can issues with it?
- 2:29Because you have like, you know, an Autism Spectrum condition,
- 2:32then just get rid of that job and do something you're
- 2:35passionate about. Because there's that saying,
- 2:37isn't it that way, if you work a job, you love, you'll never work
- 2:40a day in your life. If you have a job, you love,
- 2:42you'll never work a day in your life.
- 2:42And it's amazing because it's not working to passion.
- 2:45And passion is just is everything.
- 2:47And the there was a very famous Zen Buddhist called Alan Watts,
- 2:50and he said something quite interesting.
- 2:51Once he said that I would rather live a short life filled with
- 2:55happiness than a long life filled.
- 2:57With misery because you can work a 95, a desk job, right?
- 3:00And it could just be sold a strong in a, never see a family
- 3:04and but you could live a very long life but you've been
- 3:06miserable the whole time, you're just prolonging the misery, but
- 3:09if you wanted to like, if you and your kids like really into
- 3:13skydiving and you know, 16 plus and they wanted to skydive or
- 3:18whatever. The age for skydiving is they
- 3:19wanted to do it then, you know, there's a potential that your
- 3:23life could be ended, really easy, and really quickly and
- 3:27That would be a tragedy, it would, but you'd be having the
- 3:30most fun, and living your life with those people that you love.
- 3:34And so, okay, that may not be the best analogy, but you can
- 3:37get on trying to say, if you don't worry about like the
- 3:40security of something just worried about the happiness in
- 3:43the love all that time, because I'll get you through it.
- 3:44And that's really what gets me motivated and passionate about
- 3:47stuff. I just just love that.
- 3:49I thought would be a really cool thing to including this.
- 4:00So I do want to talk a bit about like ways like hacks to motivate
- 4:03you. So motivation comes from the
- 4:05fact that you're you need to really have it in your head.
- 4:08You think like, what I'm going to do something now that I don't
- 4:10not not that, I don't normally do that.
- 4:12I want to do it. I want to go over it and I start
- 4:14right in the morning. How many times have you like a
- 4:16gun to get up in the morning? And you go.
- 4:18Oh, well, you know, the alarms gone and I could give myself
- 4:20five more minutes and five minutes or 15 minutes and it's
- 4:23half an hour. And then Have to like rush to go
- 4:24to the doctor, go to work or whatever.
- 4:26And you think to yourself, goodness.
- 4:27You know, how how much better do you feel when you go, you set
- 4:30your alarm clock for like 7 o'clock?
- 4:32You get up at seven o'clock. Yeah, I did it or you get it
- 4:35before the alarm clock and you stop it and then you get up.
- 4:38I mean, that's the battle we have in our heads in, are we
- 4:40going to stick to this kind of like rigid routine of trying to
- 4:44do over time? And not really it's difficult to
- 4:49explain but put it this way. It's like saying I really want
- 4:52to work out. We want to go to the gym, right?
- 4:54Right, but if you don't put off at all, I don't feel well today.
- 4:56Aren't I hit my background? I'm getting over a cold.
- 4:59So I don't go to the gym, but the time when you say no, that's
- 5:02it. I'm going to get up.
- 5:02I'm going to go to the gym. That feeling you've completely
- 5:05won the battle. So, everything else you do in
- 5:06that day. You're going to be way more
- 5:07confident and motivated to do it because it started off on that.
- 5:10First thing we needed to do. So, I always do this, if you are
- 5:13a late Riser or you have trouble getting up in the morning and
- 5:17you want to be more motivated about everything in life, then
- 5:20set your alarm clock early. Make sure you get up as soon as
- 5:22I want for buzzes, you get Get out of bed.
- 5:24Get your brackets, get your clothes on, and get ready for
- 5:26the day. Because taking that first
- 5:28decision, your day will make you way more productive for the rest
- 5:30of the day, which makes you more able and and adequate to do all
- 5:36the things that you want to do. So you like way more motivated.
- 5:38Like yeah, I got up really early, had a shower.
- 5:39I'm dope. I've had breakfast.
- 5:41It's not even 8:00 o'clock yet. So I'm gonna be able to smash
- 5:43work and get somewhere early. I can be something really.
- 5:45I can be more productive, being more productive.
- 5:47It builds confidence. It builds your ability to be
- 5:50more proactive in life. Not just in the things you want
- 5:52to do, like work or creations. Cetera.
- 5:54So this is one of the ways I do it and one of the facts that I
- 5:57use to actually make make progress on wanting to be
- 6:02motivated. Okay.
- 6:13So this is where I'm going to challenge you.
- 6:14Like make sure you know, what are you going to do?
- 6:18I'm going to challenge you. Like what is it that you want to
- 6:20do? What is it that you want to like
- 6:22hack? What is it that you want to be
- 6:23motivated for now? Ask yourself this.
- 6:25Can I do those things easily and are they accessible to me?
- 6:29Am I just being lazy? And I would just being kind of
- 6:31like procrastinating Etc. So if the answer is yes, to
- 6:34those things. Then what you need to do
- 6:36tonight, is you set your alarm clock, get up early in the
- 6:38morning. And then you attack the day like
- 6:40a brand-new motivated king or queen or whatever it is.
- 6:44You want to do. Now looks like Dan tall weeds
- 6:46that this task and I'd love for you to like do this and then
- 6:48tweet me to let me know how you got on with that task.
- 6:51Because I'd love to know, is this something that's going to,
- 6:55you know, if you do it once and it helps then, you know, it'll
- 6:58work every single time and on preview life and I think that's
- 7:00just a powerful stuff and I want to try and do everything and
- 7:02this they do this podcast is to make you kind of Give you ideas
- 7:05and tools and the ability to do more because I know everybody
- 7:08has the ability to do more, with just need to believe in
- 7:10themselves and you have the power and the ability to do it.
- 7:12Just just set it out. Go out there and do it.
- 7:14And I love that about this and I love this about these, these
- 7:17short podcast episodes that I can actually share these ideas
- 7:19with you. We have a really cool one next
