- 0:55SPEAKER_04: That guy over there is yelling.
- 0:57SPEAKER_04: He's probably heard what's on the show today.
- 0:59SPEAKER_04: That's why he's so excited.
- 1:00SPEAKER_04: Oh, I'm sure of it.
- 1:01SPEAKER_04: Uh, welcome to the program, Outdoor Journal Radio, the podcast.
- 1:04SPEAKER_04: He's Peter Broman.
- 1:05SPEAKER_04: I'm Angela Barra.
- 1:07SPEAKER_04: Uh Nikki V over there and uh Dean Taylor over there.
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: Come on now.
- 1:13SPEAKER_04: And have we got a show for you?
- 1:15SPEAKER_04: I I am so excited about this program.
- 1:18SPEAKER_04: This may be an award-winning episode that we are witnessing as we speak.
- 1:22SPEAKER_10: As soon as you say that, I know it's a good idea.
- 1:24SPEAKER_04: It may be an award-winning program.
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: We've never like this is uh unheard of.
- 1:29SPEAKER_04: Unprecedented.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Technology cooperates.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: We are dealing with uh some variables.
- 1:36SPEAKER_05: They are in the middle of the Amazon River using Starlink.
- 1:39SPEAKER_05: Who is?
- 1:40SPEAKER_05: Who's who are you talking about?
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: Oh, well, then you might as well tell them about the special guests then.
- 1:44SPEAKER_04: You're taking it that far.
- 1:46SPEAKER_04: Well, no.
- 1:47SPEAKER_04: I was just gonna jump into the infighting going on here.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: I was gonna tell you just about the tech problems because they could happen.
- 1:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you listen to the host and you take the lead, and then boom, you can be a hero.
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: But if you don't listen to the host and you decide to be the host, then it becomes problematic.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Zero the hero.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: Zero the hero, thank you.
- 2:06SPEAKER_04: As uh we were saying, exciting program today, first of its kind, as far as I know.
- 2:12SPEAKER_04: Certainly on this show.
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: First of its kind and this show on this show, uh, even when it was uh in its previous life as a radio show, I don't think we ever hooked up with anybody this far.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: Now I could be wrong.
- 2:26SPEAKER_04: John Winters, the ex-producer, might be screaming out at me right now as he hears this.
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: Uh but we are still listening?
- 2:33SPEAKER_09: Do you think he still listens?
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: That's a great question.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: We were driving by his neck of the woods uh on the last shoot uh a couple of weeks ago.
- 2:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 2:41SPEAKER_04: And I was uh it came to me.
- 2:42SPEAKER_04: I said, what the hell is Johnny Winters doing?
- 2:44SPEAKER_09: Maybe he got a he got a hold of us.
- 2:46SPEAKER_09: He sent us that picture of that walleye that and his fishing canada gear all on and all that stuff.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: So did anybody answer him?
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 2:53SPEAKER_09: We put him up on our Instagram and everything, our Facebook.
- 2:56SPEAKER_04: So he's getting he's getting love.
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: He's getting love, and uh so yeah, so we're gonna hook up with somebody uh that is as uh was so um aptly brought forward here a moment ago by Nicholas on the Amazon River.
- 3:15SPEAKER_09: No way.
- 3:16SPEAKER_09: Wow, is that possible?
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: We're hooking up with somebody on the Amazon River.
- 3:19SPEAKER_04: Give me the hell yeah, like that, yeah.
- 3:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're gonna try.
- 3:23SPEAKER_04: Uh apparently they are out there um waiting for us to put them on.
- 3:28SPEAKER_04: They um well, I keep referring to them as they, uh, but the names are Bruno Uh Fernandez and uh Tiago Fantini, and they are hosts of Pisca el Rancho, which is fishing and camping basically.
- 3:42SPEAKER_04: And uh it's a brilliant Brazilian fishing show that's been on for a couple of seasons now.
- 3:47SPEAKER_04: And we met them at the uh iCast show recently, and and it was one of those immediate deals where hey, we've got to collaborate on something.
- 3:56SPEAKER_04: Of course, from our standpoint, we're thinking, how many years has it been since we've been to the Amazon?
- 4:01SPEAKER_04: Five, take your shoes off.
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna count your toes, you count mine, and you might get the number.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: We're not even there yet.
- 4:07SPEAKER_09: We're not even there yet.
- 4:09SPEAKER_04: So we thought, yeah.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: So anyway, so we thought we'd bring them on today, have some fun with them, and uh maybe expose a lot of you folks out there that have not um been to andor even peeked into the adventures uh on the Amazon.
- 4:24SPEAKER_04: We thought we'd bring them on today and maybe get you hooked.
- 4:27SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 4:28SPEAKER_04: Uh I'll be jealous if you go down there before I strip of a lifetime.
- 4:31SPEAKER_09: That's all I can say.
- 4:32SPEAKER_09: We've been there once, and I'll tell you it'd be nice to go again, that's for sure.
- 4:36SPEAKER_04: Um fishing Canada, the store.
- 4:38SPEAKER_04: Uh, I don't know whether you noticed or not, but there's a walleye not a pickerel when it is a pike.
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: A pike, finally.
- 4:50SPEAKER_04: Finally, we know and you all got them.
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: I know you do.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: I know you all got that one buddy in your fishing group that he just insists to call it a pickerel.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: No matter how many times you tell him, George is not a pickerel, it's a walleye.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: We've all got those guys.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Well, now the perfect gift for that guy, or better yet, for you, so he can see this long enough to uh burn it into a psyche.
- 5:20SPEAKER_04: We uh we were at uh oh on Georgian Bay recently, and uh the um the uh lodge owner and his wife both called a pickerel.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: Absolutely, but by the end of our stay there, they jokingly were saying, Hey, and don't forget the walleye.
- 5:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah, so adamant on changing that one.
- 5:45SPEAKER_10: That was good.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: And the other thing I find weird about that, not only is it incorrect, but a lot of uh folks here in Canada think that the reason that we call it pickerel somehow has to do with people south of the border, with the Americans, that they are the ones who afflicted us with this.
- 6:01SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, no.
- 6:02SPEAKER_09: It's the the Americans call it the walleye, they think that's like the American term.
- 6:05SPEAKER_04: They and they all think Canadians they somehow always bring the Americans into to the conversation because of walleye, right?
- 6:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and it's not it's walleye is the name of that fish.
- 6:16SPEAKER_09: Look up in your regulations, no matter where you live.
- 6:18SPEAKER_09: If there's if there's walleye in your area, look up in your fishing regulations.
- 6:22SPEAKER_09: You're gonna see.
- 6:23SPEAKER_04: Never met an American that calls it a pickerel.
- 6:25SPEAKER_09: No, oh god, no, never.
- 6:26SPEAKER_09: I think they'd laugh at that.
- 6:27SPEAKER_09: Well, they do, yeah.
- 6:29SPEAKER_09: See, y'all still calling that thing a pickerel, yeah, and then they'll tell you what a pickerel is.
- 6:34SPEAKER_09: It's like a bike, exactly.
- 6:35SPEAKER_09: ESOX.
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: Never again will we make that mistake, folks.
- 6:40SPEAKER_04: All you have to do is get yourself one of these babies and either wear it or give it to the guy that continues to call it a pickerl.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: They're all available at the the store.
- 6:51SPEAKER_04: Our adjunk uh store manager, I believe, has not all junk in there.
- 6:55SPEAKER_09: It's I got some good stuff.
- 6:56SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah, you know.
- 6:57SPEAKER_04: I believe he has them uh uh either either uh there or you can pre-order.
- 7:06SPEAKER_09: He's not saying much over there.
- 7:07SPEAKER_09: No, he's on Instagram.
- 7:09SPEAKER_09: Sorry, gentlemen.
- 7:10SPEAKER_05: I was just uh communicating with our guests that were going to be here in just a matter of moments.
- 7:14SPEAKER_05: Oh, well, thank you.
- 7:15SPEAKER_05: As uh just to make sure that they're all set up.
- 7:17SPEAKER_05: Well, thank you very much.
- 7:18SPEAKER_05: But the new hoodies are are nothing short of fantabulous.
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: They're in as well.
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: They are in and they're up.
- 7:25SPEAKER_05: Actually, if you're listening to this right now, the link there you go, it's at the bottom of the screen.
- 7:30SPEAKER_05: You can take yourself right on over to shop.fishandcanada.com and get yourself a new hoodie.
- 7:36SPEAKER_05: The pictures are they look they look amazing.
- 7:38SPEAKER_05: They're available right now, they're available right now.
- 7:40SPEAKER_05: You know, buy yours here today.
- 7:42SPEAKER_05: Nice, they're available right now.
- 7:45SPEAKER_04: I may have a new favorite.
- 7:46SPEAKER_05: I uh I might I know what my new favorite is, and it's the smallmouth.
- 7:51SPEAKER_05: We can't lie.
- 7:52SPEAKER_05: Uh the smallmouth is nothing short of just and the gator.
- 7:56SPEAKER_05: God, the pike's really nice.
- 7:57SPEAKER_05: I was gonna say that guy's sitting over my shoulder and you know, it's it's hard to uh thick.
- 8:02SPEAKER_05: Look at it.
- 8:02SPEAKER_05: It's hard to pick too.
- 8:04SPEAKER_09: It's hard to pick.
- 8:04SPEAKER_09: You know, he's not a little pickerel or anything like that, you know.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: All right, anyways, there it is.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: Finally, it did what it didn't take that long.
- 8:13SPEAKER_04: Only a couple months.
- 8:14SPEAKER_04: God, we've been talking about it seems like for a year.
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: I know, just been a little bit.
- 8:19SPEAKER_04: They are now here.
- 8:20SPEAKER_04: Go check them out.
- 8:21SPEAKER_04: Uh, get them while the sizes last.
- 8:24SPEAKER_04: And um, yeah, all available at the store shop.fishincanada.com.
- 8:32SPEAKER_04: All right, let's move right on to listener feedback, shall we?
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: Because I I I'm pretty sure I already got that scratch.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: I'm pretty sure I scratched that out there last week.
- 8:40SPEAKER_04: But the print, the the ink must have we still have a lot of airings to go.
- 8:44SPEAKER_04: People have to know.
- 8:48SPEAKER_04: Hey Dean, tell the uh the guy who prints these things, tell him to scratch that right there.
- 8:55SPEAKER_04: Put do this, do that right there.
- 8:56SPEAKER_04: Okay, I'll pass that along.
- 8:58SPEAKER_04: Thanks, Dean.
- 8:59SPEAKER_04: Uh, listener feedback in response to our video on the yeah, and not only the uh uh like the video, I think it's still our number one video it's ever gone up in terms of numbers, if I'm not mistaken.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: It's on pace to be.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: It's still just behind our garment episode.
- 9:16SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 9:17SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 9:18SPEAKER_04: It's how to fillet a pike.
- 9:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:23SPEAKER_09: A pike.
- 9:24SPEAKER_09: This is brought uh sent to us by rocket underscore at rocket underscore profit.
- 9:29SPEAKER_09: I like that.
- 9:30SPEAKER_09: Rocket underscore profit.
- 9:31SPEAKER_09: That's cool via YouTube.
- 9:32SPEAKER_09: Rocket Profit.
- 9:33SPEAKER_09: Uh he says, Rocket says, just fillet pike like any other fish and tell your dinner guests to be mindful of the big Y bones running down the center of the fillet.
- 9:43SPEAKER_09: Then he goes, boom, done.
- 9:45SPEAKER_09: Honestly, I love the way you ended up.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: When you think about it, I don't think you'd have many people come back for more pike.
- 9:52SPEAKER_09: I got you know what I love Rocket for putting that in there like that because I love that boom-done thing.
- 9:56SPEAKER_09: But I get I get angry at myself when I fillet a pike and I get a bone or two in there, I see you asshole.
- 10:02SPEAKER_09: What is the matter with you?
- 10:03SPEAKER_09: I've done 1300 of these things and you still can't get it right.
- 10:06SPEAKER_09: So I hate the bone in there, so I don't know.
- 10:08SPEAKER_09: I might have to disagree with that one too.
- 10:10SPEAKER_04: Growing up, maybe the Italian family, maybe this has something to do with it.
- 10:15SPEAKER_04: But we ate fish I uh for for the longest while I remember we used to have fish every Friday.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: Religious thing, right?
- 10:24SPEAKER_04: And I remember that if you didn't have a bone in your fish, you would point it out.
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: I'm not kidding you.
- 10:36SPEAKER_09: I'm talking about because you'd be marveled at it yourself.
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you say, Oh, what happened, what happened to the bones?
- 10:41SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: I kind of like them.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: How come you're gonna do it?
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: I like when Pete does it because we get all kinds of bones when Pete cleans them.
- 10:47SPEAKER_04: But it's true.
- 10:48SPEAKER_04: And as kid and and I remember now this once again, this could be an Italian thing because it was every Italian home you went to.
- 10:56SPEAKER_04: The host or hostess um that prepared the food would always say, Now be careful, there's there's gonna be a bone or two in there.
- 11:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:05SPEAKER_04: Make sure you don't choke on it.
- 11:07SPEAKER_04: Like that was normal.
- 11:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:08SPEAKER_04: Like whatever happened to those days.
- 11:10SPEAKER_04: Now all of a sudden, uh, if there's a bone in there, people want to call 911 and and have you arrested.
- 11:17SPEAKER_04: I'm serious.
- 11:19SPEAKER_09: I love it.
- 11:19SPEAKER_04: Like, what's the matter with a bone or two in there?
- 11:21SPEAKER_09: Well, it's just I I think you know what you get used to like like a nice walleye as in your uh beautiful shirt there.
- 11:30SPEAKER_09: When you get a nice walleye fillet, I mean, how often do you not only find a bone but want a bone in that in your walleye?
- 11:38SPEAKER_09: You don't you don't want it?
- 11:39SPEAKER_09: It's it's perceived to be a boneless fillet, right?
- 11:42SPEAKER_09: It's like uh it's so nice to to be able to just take a bite no matter where, part of it, boom, boom, boom, eat it fast, keep it slow, whatever, and enjoy it, and not have to spit out, pick out things between your body.
- 11:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there's a lot of spitting and taking out.
- 11:54SPEAKER_04: I remember our family meals when we had.
- 11:57SPEAKER_04: A lot of stuff that you were doing.
- 11:59SPEAKER_09: And if you want to burn extra calories or something, maybe, but I don't think it's like a perch fillet.
- 12:03SPEAKER_09: You don't want to have bones in your perch.
- 12:05SPEAKER_09: It is so we call them boneless fillets, I guess, for a reason.
- 12:09SPEAKER_04: But yeah, we we we used to eat smelts and the whole smelt.
- 12:12SPEAKER_10: Yeah, but you didn't taste the bonus.
- 12:14SPEAKER_10: Oh, it was crunchy?
- 12:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah, but it wasn't like a bone, you know you can eat it.
- 12:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah, but it was crunchy.
- 12:19SPEAKER_09: It was good.
- 12:20SPEAKER_09: It was delicious crunchy.
- 12:21SPEAKER_09: I mean, they're bone, their rib cages are like the rib bone is that long compared to a big old pike or Y-bone or something.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: I see his point, though.
- 12:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:29SPEAKER_04: I do see his point.
- 12:31SPEAKER_04: If I if I say to you, hey guys, be mindful of uh that Y-bone might be in there.
- 12:38SPEAKER_04: Just be careful with it.
- 12:39SPEAKER_04: That's all.
- 12:40SPEAKER_09: I wonder if Rocket does that, if he actually does that.
- 12:42SPEAKER_09: I'd love it if he did.
- 12:43SPEAKER_10: He said, Yeah, I do that every time.
- 12:45SPEAKER_10: Boom, done.
- 12:46SPEAKER_10: Eat it and shut up.
- 12:49SPEAKER_10: I love it.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: Conservation Corner, Mr.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: Bowen, this week.
- 12:53SPEAKER_09: Well, again, we're talking the grass carb, invasive carp.ca.
- 12:57SPEAKER_09: And now, next podcast, we may we may have some uh breaking news on yet another one.
- 13:04SPEAKER_09: Thank you, Mr.
- 13:05SPEAKER_09: Dean.
- 13:06SPEAKER_09: Um, another one being cited and actually caught and captured.
- 13:09SPEAKER_09: I saw one picture of it so far just today.
- 13:12SPEAKER_09: Uh Nick brought it up to us, and uh it looks like there's another one.
- 13:15SPEAKER_09: It's a pretty good sized one.
- 13:16SPEAKER_09: You knew it was gonna happen.
- 13:17SPEAKER_04: It's not a shock.
- 13:19SPEAKER_04: The shock is there hasn't been more.
- 13:21SPEAKER_09: Exactly.
- 13:21SPEAKER_09: We were waiting waiting this long.
- 13:23SPEAKER_09: So hopefully, next uh next podcast we'll have a uh a detailed um report for you on this grass colour.
- 13:29SPEAKER_04: And maybe the reason there hasn't been more is that we don't have enough of you going um caring about I don't know whether it's caring or listening or whatever, but taking the time to go to invasivecarp.ca.
- 13:45SPEAKER_04: Because I I can't help but feel that if more of us would go there and consume the information that's available there and download the images and all that stuff, maybe we'd be having more sightings today.
- 13:59SPEAKER_09: True, because a lot of people just see that float and say, Oh, they don't know what the hell is that.
- 14:05SPEAKER_09: That's weird.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: Get your butts to invasivecarp.ca p.
- 14:10SPEAKER_09: That's not part of the C A but it's uh A S A P.
- 14:15SPEAKER_09: That was good.
- 14:16SPEAKER_04: Uh in the news, JB Cycle Marine, Ontario's largest princecraft mercury boat, motor, trailer, packager.
- 14:24SPEAKER_04: Period.
- 14:25SPEAKER_04: Yes, under the sun.
- 14:28SPEAKER_09: And then some.
- 14:29SPEAKER_04: All happening at uh JBCle.com if you want to have a peek at their wares.
- 14:35SPEAKER_04: In the news, uh U.S.
- 14:36SPEAKER_04: uh anglers harvest Am I reading this right now?
- 14:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:40SPEAKER_04: 48 times.
- 14:42SPEAKER_04: That's almost 50 in any state.
- 14:46SPEAKER_04: 48 times more fish than previously estimated.
- 14:50SPEAKER_09: So there's another 48 number coming up here.
- 14:53SPEAKER_09: New research suggests recreational anglers in the lower 48 U.S.
- 14:57SPEAKER_09: states harvest far more freshwater fish than previously estimated.
- 15:01SPEAKER_09: So listen to this.
- 15:03SPEAKER_09: Reset researchers estimate anglers keep between 236,000 and 671,000.
- 15:10SPEAKER_09: Now you're thinking I was gonna say you're thinking fish.
- 15:13SPEAKER_09: No, you're thinking pounds, no.
- 15:15SPEAKER_09: Tons of fish from inland waters each year.
- 15:18SPEAKER_09: That's tons.
- 15:19SPEAKER_09: 671,000 tons.
- 15:22SPEAKER_09: Okay, boys, give me a pound on that one.
- 15:24SPEAKER_09: Poundage.
- 15:24SPEAKER_09: Come on, Nick.
- 15:25SPEAKER_09: Well, double it.
- 15:26SPEAKER_09: 671,000 tons.
- 15:28SPEAKER_05: 671,000,000 tons is forty thousand pounds.
- 15:38SPEAKER_05: So how many tons?
- 15:39SPEAKER_05: 670,000?
- 15:40SPEAKER_05: 671,000.
- 15:41SPEAKER_05: 71,000 tons.
- 15:44SPEAKER_05: And we're talking in a metric ton, not an imperial ton?
- 15:47SPEAKER_09: I want it in pounds.
- 15:48SPEAKER_09: 2,000.
- 15:49SPEAKER_05: Well, no, there's tons and tons.
- 15:52SPEAKER_10: Oh, God.
- 15:53SPEAKER_05: Like you gotta.
- 15:55SPEAKER_10: Thank you, Dean.
- 15:56SPEAKER_10: Can you straighten this out, Dean?
- 15:57SPEAKER_10: It's a lot of damn fish.
- 15:59SPEAKER_10: That's all I can say.
- 16:01SPEAKER_10: Uh you have a number, Nick, or no?
- 16:03SPEAKER_09: Uh the the uh it seems to have broken my that is between 17 and 48 times higher than the inland harvest report uh reported to the United Nations.
- 16:14SPEAKER_09: So obviously people aren't reporting, or I don't know how the miscommunication's happening here.
- 16:19SPEAKER_09: Uh the study examined recreational fishing in lakes, rivers, ponds, and reservoirs using more than 15,000 surveys from 40 states.
- 16:28SPEAKER_09: So, I mean, this is these numbers are quite staggering when you think about now.
- 16:34SPEAKER_09: It doesn't say species, it doesn't say, you know, this, that, and the other.
- 16:37SPEAKER_09: But uh obviously they've these surveys are uh they have to be somewhat accurate.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: You can understand you know something being off by a couple of percentage points.
- 16:46SPEAKER_04: You know, we used to in the retail business for 4% was the magic number.
- 16:51SPEAKER_04: We would say, you know, give or take 4%.
- 16:53SPEAKER_04: If your inventory is within those numbers, you know, you're okay.
- 16:57SPEAKER_04: But we're not talking single-digit differences here between we're talking more than double.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: How does that that's not an error?
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know how they've been conducting the research because even the past, yeah, even the range that they have that say they estimate between 200,000 and 600,000 tons, even that that range is massive.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: How do you estimate between two and six of anything?
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: So when you're trying to make a regulation based on this to say, okay, we can afford to have a five fish limit on whichever lake, like you're basing it off of data that you have no idea how accurate it is, obviously.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: So I mean I I I'm I have a feeling this study will shake things up and they're gonna have to start taking it more seriously on how they get like they gather this.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because I know they need to do.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: I know the UN reports were what we cited when we talked about how prevalent catch and release is now.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: So we've talked about the data, which obviously isn't accurate.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: So they need to do a whole overhaul on however they collected all this, obviously.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: Like, how can you go back now?
- 18:04SPEAKER_04: I mean, how can you look at anything we've taken from from the US in terms of numbers?
- 18:09SPEAKER_09: It's another one who heard numbers.
- 18:10SPEAKER_09: Researchers estimate anglers catch between two billion and six billion fish annually when released fish are included.
- 18:17SPEAKER_10: Two billion and six billion.
- 18:19SPEAKER_10: How do you do that?
- 18:20SPEAKER_10: Insane.
- 18:22SPEAKER_09: So, anyways, I mean, I think I think the point here, obviously, is that regulations we have to be honest.
- 18:29SPEAKER_09: Let's catch and release can can become uh should become a maybe a little more important in uh a global aspect.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: I think uh probably even more important is we need to know who is in charge of gathering these numbers.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: Do we know?
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: Is this is this like the this was an independent study in in this one to try to determine how accurate the data was?
- 18:52SPEAKER_04: I'm not sure who data the data from who?
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: The DNR, I guess.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: DNR.
- 18:58SPEAKER_04: Okay, so we need to maybe take those folks and hold their feet in the fire a little bit and find out.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: Can we can we can we I don't know?
- 19:07SPEAKER_09: It's 40 different states, wherever they did it, probably.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: So, how would you guys feel?
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: Like, would you guys feel it too invasive if at the end of the year you had to estimate how many fish you keep?
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: Like I know we'll like with like with hunting reports at the end of every season, I have to report how many animals I saw, how many animals I shot, how many animals I heard.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: Like you have to report all that at the end of the year, and if you don't report it, you get a f you either get a fine or you don't get to buy a tag next year.
- 19:34SPEAKER_04: So are you thinking that maybe some of the folks that are being sampled aren't being forthcoming?
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: Is that is that what the error is?
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: I just more mean like if you made every angler give you an estimate at the end of the year how many fish they kept, you'd get a pretty accurate report.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: We do, though.
- 19:50SPEAKER_04: Our Creole census is exactly that.
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: We we rely on anglers to give us numbers.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: But I've never I've never been approached.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: I've never Nor have I.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I mean that's what I mean.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Like should it be managed?
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Like if you had every angler to it, you'd get a pretty good picture.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: How would you get every angler doing it?
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: So when I buy my license every year for hunting, I have a month after the season ends to report.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: Never it would never work.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: It's just the problem in hunting.
- 20:18SPEAKER_09: I know it works in hunting because you're allowed one deer, uh, you know, you're one deer a year.
- 20:22SPEAKER_09: And uh uh when the fishing thing, like I I'd love to do it.
- 20:26SPEAKER_09: I try I try to keep a record of all my fishing, but even so, I could go look up back at my record and I'd say, I don't know how many I caught.
- 20:32SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 20:32SPEAKER_09: So to keep an uh an accurate number of how many you caught, how many you kept an eating, maybe keeping an eating.
- 20:38SPEAKER_09: I mean, you'd have to you'd have to literally document it.
- 20:40SPEAKER_09: You'd have to sit there and say, Okay, I kept four walleye this week.
- 20:43SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 20:43SPEAKER_04: And who who does that?
- 20:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah, there wouldn't be very many.
- 20:46SPEAKER_09: I mean, if you had to, like Dean says, you get fined if you didn't, then people would start doing it, but people get pissed off too.
- 20:52SPEAKER_09: I'll guarantee you.
- 20:52SPEAKER_09: People will be saying, pick rolling.
- 20:56SPEAKER_09: No, it's not, it's a walleye, and I don't know what I caught there.
- 20:59SPEAKER_04: I was gonna go someplace with and I'm gone, I'm not.
- 21:02SPEAKER_04: I swear, good Lord, thank you.
- 21:05SPEAKER_04: Thank you very much.
- 21:06SPEAKER_04: I I owe you one.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: Anyways, that's I'm not going there.
- 21:13SPEAKER_09: Um, so the uh obviously in this news story, we would like to see some uh more accurate numbers, right?
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: I think that'd be a a nice I don't even know how the US has to get together.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: I I don't know.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: I'd I'd be curious to see how how accurate ours is.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: I have to think it's a little bit better than that.
- 21:28SPEAKER_04: But it's but but ours our numbers depend on creal census, and and and you know, I guess it'd be the same as saying, well, I don't I don't really think that polling 200 user or 2,000 users is a good representation of the entire group, but yet everything we do is based on that.
- 21:50SPEAKER_04: Whether it's counting television viewers, whether it's counting automobile sales, whether it's uh you know how many people had uh these these bobbleheads.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: Heads made like everything we do, we sample.
- 22:02SPEAKER_04: We can't.
- 22:03SPEAKER_04: It's it's literally impossible to get 100% participation in any user group.
- 22:08SPEAKER_04: So we rely on small samples and say based on the demographic demographic profile of the sample, we feel that it is re a representation of the entire group.
- 22:19SPEAKER_04: And I'm sure the US is doing it that way as well, just like we are.
- 22:24SPEAKER_04: The problem I think is in that sampling.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: You know, you hit something on the head here a moment ago.
- 22:32SPEAKER_04: How many anglers are gonna first of all even know how many fish they've caught and killed that that season?
- 22:40SPEAKER_04: And maybe all anglers are a little defensive to start with and they're gonna underestimate.
- 22:50SPEAKER_09: I can tell you how many I caught, Melly.
- 22:52SPEAKER_04: I got I kept two all year.
- 22:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:54SPEAKER_04: And that's the problem.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: So I don't know whether we could ever get a really good idea.
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: And as much as we're shocked with this, I think you reap what you sow, or you you know, this is the way the system works.
- 23:09SPEAKER_04: I don't think we can be totally shocked.
- 23:11SPEAKER_09: I've been uh approached, by the way, by uh I'm surprised you guys haven't.
- 23:14SPEAKER_09: I've been approached by boat uh census boats more uh probably four or five times in my life.
- 23:18SPEAKER_09: Well, they heard about you, eh?
- 23:20SPEAKER_04: They said, Wow, there's one guy we gotta we gotta know is it's the stick himself, right?
- 23:24SPEAKER_09: Because you know he's on the TV and we know he's got walleye fillets in his pocket and he's got you know he's gonna he's he's he's poaching him.
- 23:32SPEAKER_09: No a few times.
- 23:34SPEAKER_09: And even that is kind of a weird system because they they come up to you boat to boat, they pull you over.
- 23:41SPEAKER_09: Hi, how are you today, Burbert Ministry of Natural Resources?
- 23:43SPEAKER_09: We're just doing the census, not you know, don't ask you for your license or anything like that.
- 23:47SPEAKER_09: They don't ask anything.
- 23:48SPEAKER_09: They says, How many uh walleye have you caught today?
- 23:50SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 23:51SPEAKER_09: It's a great thing that you get as many boats as you can, but the person in the morning might have one fish, and in that afternoon he caught and released some uh unders and he had to throw these uh these overs back, and all he could have 15 fish by the other end of the day, right?
- 24:04SPEAKER_09: So even that can be uh it's accurate to as for timing, but not accurate for the whole thing.
- 24:11SPEAKER_04: You're going on their hearsay and their word, and you can't it's averaging again, right?
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: I think the only place that I remember they used to do this religiously, and that I what I mean by religiously, I mean everybody that went into Algonquin Park for the purposes of fishing, yeah, they would uh be part of a Creole Census before they left the park.
- 24:33SPEAKER_10: Okay, yeah.
- 24:34SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that's cool.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: They probably did it as much to check up on you as anything else.
- 24:38SPEAKER_04: But but but regardless, smart.
- 24:41SPEAKER_04: We used to that used to be and you had to you had to keep a very clear way of of detailing the numbers if you were in the if you ate them or whatever, right?
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: You're in there.
- 24:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: So that one I'd say would be accurate as hell.
- 24:56SPEAKER_09: You know what else would be accurate at a certain point is these fish ladders with fish counters in them.
- 25:02SPEAKER_09: They'd probably be pretty accurate.
- 25:03SPEAKER_09: The Ganaraska River, I think they're pretty accurate in the sense of uh somewhat accurate, anyways, in that not caught fish, but this is uh this is something that's total number the inventory.
- 25:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's a good number for the inventory.
- 25:13SPEAKER_09: Again, that's that's halfway up the river.
- 25:15SPEAKER_09: How many fish are below the river?
- 25:18SPEAKER_04: Maybe more than went up, right in some cases.
- 25:20SPEAKER_04: Anyways, uh interesting read.
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: I think uh if you don't know about this latest uh piece of news from South of the Border, and you are into fishing, I think you should look it up because it's got some interesting numbers, some interesting facts, too, that uh even as Canadians we should uh be on top of.
- 25:39SPEAKER_04: Uh, that's all available at fishing canada.com.
- 25:44SPEAKER_04: Um The Gateway, the portal to your next fishing adventure.
- 25:48SPEAKER_05: Always as always will be.
- 25:50SPEAKER_04: And that's about right, Nick.
- 25:51SPEAKER_04: Thank you very much.
- 25:52SPEAKER_04: Appreciate that.
- 25:55SPEAKER_04: He's got something on the go now.
- 25:56SPEAKER_04: He's yeah, he's making up.
- 25:58SPEAKER_04: He's making up, he's slowly making up.
- 26:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:01SPEAKER_04: Uh fan question of the week.
- 26:04SPEAKER_04: Uh submitted by at Waves Current Sand Ice Current and Ice?
- 26:10SPEAKER_04: Current and sand ice.
- 26:12SPEAKER_04: Current.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: Current sand ice.
- 26:15SPEAKER_04: Current current ice sand ice.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: Sand ice.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: Sand ice.
- 26:19SPEAKER_04: Maybe it's sand dice.
- 26:20SPEAKER_04: How do you know he doesn't have sand dice?
- 26:21SPEAKER_04: I got them once.
- 26:23SPEAKER_04: They were just honest to God, I was terrible.
- 26:26SPEAKER_04: No, don't laugh.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: Because you had that this type of ointment, and it gave him your rash.
- 26:31SPEAKER_04: And so it was terrible.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: Don't ever get sand ice.
- 26:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and all you gotta do is just sit on a little piece of a piece of uh sand um that you're not familiar with.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: Are you naked?
- 26:44SPEAKER_04: I may or may not have been at that.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: You had your G string on, didn't you?
- 26:47SPEAKER_10: You were wearing that G string, that speedo G string again.
- 26:49SPEAKER_10: I know it, I know it.
- 26:50SPEAKER_10: I told you this thing's gonna get you in trouble.
- 26:53SPEAKER_04: Uh anyways, uh waves, current and ice, maybe via YouTube.
- 27:00SPEAKER_04: So that's a good thing, right?
- 27:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's a yes, I think.
- 27:03SPEAKER_09: I I denied last time unknowing.
- 27:05SPEAKER_09: Remember, I made the mistake.
- 27:06SPEAKER_09: So this time is a yes, Angelo, if you if you yes it.
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: So we're gonna read this, and if we all four of us agree that this is a worthy uh question, then you will receive from the adjunct store manager.
- 27:22SPEAKER_04: Adjunct.
- 27:22SPEAKER_05: What I got what I got a demotion now all again?
- 27:25SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 27:27SPEAKER_04: I didn't know that you had gone past adjunct.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 27:31SPEAKER_04: You're adjunct at every department.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: What are you talking about?
- 27:33SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm full junk.
- 27:35SPEAKER_04: You're full junk are the only that has been here.
- 27:41SPEAKER_04: That's exactly what it's for.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: That's for your junk.
- 27:44SPEAKER_04: You gotta throw junk out there.
- 27:45SPEAKER_10: Oh, gosh.
- 27:46SPEAKER_10: Mr.
- 27:47SPEAKER_10: Bowman, would you care to read it?
- 27:48SPEAKER_10: I gotta read this question.
- 27:50SPEAKER_09: I always enjoy your exchanges with Dr.
- 27:52SPEAKER_09: Cook, very knowledgeable, an enlightening gentleman.
- 27:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah, absolutely, Angelo and I, and Dean and Nick all agree with that one for sure.
- 27:59SPEAKER_09: He's he's awesome.
- 28:00SPEAKER_09: I especially appreciated the one of his papers that he collaborated a few years back, which dealt with an urban legend in the fishing community.
- 28:07SPEAKER_09: It was a paper that debunked the theory that pouring soft drinks down the throat of bleeding fish would stop the bleeding.
- 28:14SPEAKER_09: We all seen that with the guy who opens a can of Coca-Cola and pours it down there because the fish is bleeding, and oh, there's a miracle, it's done.
- 28:22SPEAKER_09: Through the series, through a series of experiments they conducted on Northern Pike using different liquids.
- 28:27SPEAKER_09: They use pike for their guinea pigs, I can't.
- 28:30SPEAKER_10: That's what the by the way, if you haven't seen this already, just in case you're wondering.
- 28:34SPEAKER_10: Right there.
- 28:34SPEAKER_04: Speaking of pike, that you need to get you some of them right there.
- 28:38SPEAKER_09: They use pike uh experience using different liquids at different temperatures.
- 28:42SPEAKER_09: The results demonstrated that there was absolutely no correlation between fish survival and pouring soft drinks down their throats.
- 28:49SPEAKER_09: Now, when you see an angle use this technique on the water, I cite the Carleton University study to explain what they are wasting.
- 28:56SPEAKER_09: They were just wasting good mountain dew, which is good.
- 28:59SPEAKER_09: Good point.
- 29:00SPEAKER_09: Have you guys ever heard of another urban legend or strange practice or belief in fishing that was only supported by anecdotal uh evidence and was later debunked by scientific studies?
- 29:12SPEAKER_09: Go ahead.
- 29:13SPEAKER_04: Oh it has not been debunked.
- 29:17SPEAKER_10: That's a good picture.
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: Um it has not been debunked.
- 29:23SPEAKER_04: By the way, you know who first told me about that?
- 29:26SPEAKER_04: About the coke down the throat?
- 29:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:28SPEAKER_09: Pfizer.
- 29:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: On a live radio show some 30 years ago, he came on and everybody went, ooh, ooh.
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: Including myself.
- 29:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:42SPEAKER_04: It was a breakthrough.
- 29:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:44SPEAKER_04: We couldn't wait to go out and injure another fish's gill so we could pour pop down it.
- 29:49SPEAKER_09: What were you thinking?
- 29:50SPEAKER_09: Another debunked, non-debunked, but was uh a myth or something.
- 29:53SPEAKER_09: What you had something on your thoughts.
- 29:55SPEAKER_09: What was it?
- 29:55SPEAKER_04: It hasn't been debunked yet.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: Although people have tried.
- 29:59SPEAKER_09: Let's debunk it.
- 29:59SPEAKER_09: Let's see if we can talk about it.
- 30:01SPEAKER_09: What do you got?
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: Boats and bananas.
- 30:03SPEAKER_09: Uh yeah.
- 30:05SPEAKER_09: Well, it yeah, I mean, it has a legend.
- 30:08SPEAKER_09: It is a legend, but you can't you can't convince guys like Angelo and myself.
- 30:12SPEAKER_09: I don't know about Nick and Dean, but I know Angelo and and uh he has the same as me.
- 30:16SPEAKER_09: It's just it's just pure ass bad luck.
- 30:19SPEAKER_09: Every time we uh we encounter this bananas in the boat, things of that we can't uh I can't push myself to bring a put a banana on my boat no matter what.
- 30:28SPEAKER_09: It's not worth it.
- 30:29SPEAKER_09: I just yeah, it's why?
- 30:30SPEAKER_09: There's all kinds of other food in this world.
- 30:32SPEAKER_09: Why do you have to bring that?
- 30:33SPEAKER_09: I don't need it.
- 30:33SPEAKER_09: Oh, you're right.
- 30:34SPEAKER_09: I'll have that when I get home.
- 30:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 30:35SPEAKER_09: Don't eat it before you go out, by the way.
- 30:37SPEAKER_04: By the way, for all you bananas listening to this, this is no, you know, we're not dying bad about you.
- 30:43SPEAKER_09: Unless you got a little rotten.
- 30:44SPEAKER_09: If you're getting a little rotten, I love it.
- 30:46SPEAKER_04: Oh, I love that's when they're the best.
- 30:47SPEAKER_04: I presume that to you.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: See, they gotta be brown, indeed.
- 30:51SPEAKER_09: They have to have green on them somewhere on them for me.
- 30:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:55SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 30:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's gotta be mostly yellow, but there's a little bit of green on there still, and that's just a perfect.
- 31:01SPEAKER_09: Perfect bunch of motion.
- 31:02SPEAKER_09: No.
- 31:03SPEAKER_09: No, that's most people do like them ripe like that.
- 31:08SPEAKER_09: For banana bread when you're cooking, you gotta have them ripe like that.
- 31:10SPEAKER_05: You know, in a smoothie, I like them like you guys like it, but when I eat a banana, no, I gotta have a Bri uh Brie puts bananas in the freezer so that she can make banana bread because it browns them faster.
- 31:21SPEAKER_09: They go full brown.
- 31:22SPEAKER_05: Full brown.
- 31:23SPEAKER_09: Absolutely.
- 31:24SPEAKER_09: And then you just put a little bit of hot water, cut them and have them, and they just pop right up like another one is the red hooks, the red fishing hooks.
- 31:33SPEAKER_09: You know what?
- 31:33SPEAKER_09: They say it makes it look like a.
- 31:42SPEAKER_09: And to begin with, right?
- 31:43SPEAKER_09: So anything above maybe 25 feet, maybe you could have a point with that.
- 31:48SPEAKER_09: But fish can't see red below 25 feet, right?
- 31:50SPEAKER_09: It turns black, they lose the the perception of red anyway.
- 31:54SPEAKER_09: So I don't know if that's you know, uh uh to me that was a nice, a good move.
- 31:59SPEAKER_09: Uh the hook departments of the world.
- 32:01SPEAKER_09: How about the chartreuse sucks?
- 32:03SPEAKER_09: Uh maybe it maybe it adds color for a walleye, maybe I don't know.
- 32:08SPEAKER_09: I don't use them, but yeah, I could see maybe that would work.
- 32:11SPEAKER_09: Uh maybe not.
- 32:12SPEAKER_09: Um yeah.
- 32:13SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 32:14SPEAKER_09: There's I don't know.
- 32:14SPEAKER_09: There's probably tons of them, but I got another one.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: What about the fish not being able to feel the sonar?
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, but apparently, scientifically, that's been totally debunked.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: They can't feel it.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: But I mean hear it or feel it.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: I don't know what the wording is, but I think hearing, I think they cannot hear it.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:34SPEAKER_04: But I don't think that has been debunked that they can feel it.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: I thought Dr.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Because of the lateral looking at it, and they they didn't find any evidence that it affects them in any way.
- 32:44SPEAKER_09: We need to get them back on.
- 32:46SPEAKER_09: We'll debunk a few of these myths.
- 32:47SPEAKER_09: That'd be a good that'd be a good show.
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: How about a whole episode on debunking debunking debunking with experts?
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:53SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 32:54SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 32:55SPEAKER_04: I'm liking this.
- 32:56SPEAKER_04: Line up a whole batch of them.
- 32:57SPEAKER_04: I liked this.
- 32:58SPEAKER_04: And uh we can have to compile some, we'll have to think behind the scenes.
- 33:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we'll we'll leave the uh the myths out there and they can uh put a panel together to smash it.
- 33:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:08SPEAKER_04: So the question, uh gentlemen, is was that a good enough question?
- 33:13SPEAKER_05: Give me a hell yeah.
- 33:14SPEAKER_05: We've spent uh certainly a lot of time talking about it.
- 33:17SPEAKER_09: A lot of time on it.
- 33:18SPEAKER_09: And I don't think he's uh he's not a frequent flyer either.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: No, I've never I've never seen him here.
- 33:23SPEAKER_09: No.
- 33:24SPEAKER_09: So I mean that's put a good effort in, maybe a new viewer, or maybe just finally said, Hey, I gotta and he said a lot of positive, there's no negative.
- 33:32SPEAKER_09: And it was the YouTuber.
- 33:34SPEAKER_09: You know?
- 33:35SPEAKER_04: All right, well, let's vote.
- 33:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I vote yay.
- 33:38SPEAKER_10: Yes, three against whatever Ann says, he's good.
- 33:41SPEAKER_10: Yeah, let's go for it.
- 33:43SPEAKER_10: Give me a hell yeah!
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: Beautiful.
- 33:46SPEAKER_04: So uh whoever that is, because we really couldn't even properly decipher it.
- 33:52SPEAKER_04: Waves waves current currents and ice, waves, currents, and ice via YouTube.
- 33:59SPEAKER_04: That's what I would say.
- 34:00SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 34:00SPEAKER_04: Uh, get a hold of us or how's this done, Dean?
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: How does this what's the protocol here?
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: They reach out to Nick normally, they confirm their identity, and then Nick What if he's not here?
- 34:09SPEAKER_05: If Nick's ad junk worldwide, anywhere, doesn't matter.
- 34:13SPEAKER_04: What if he's adjunked, like Pete said at that point?
- 34:17SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna show you some adjunk, okay?
- 34:19SPEAKER_05: These are the fountain.
- 34:21SPEAKER_10: I know they're adjunk, especially in an ad.
- 34:24SPEAKER_10: God dang it, no.
- 34:25SPEAKER_05: Um just reach on out to me.
- 34:27SPEAKER_05: I will get you guys set up.
- 34:28SPEAKER_05: No problem.
- 34:29SPEAKER_05: You guys?
- 34:31SPEAKER_05: Could be could be two people winning on the spot.
- 34:32SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they only get one prize, though.
- 34:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's fine.
- 34:35SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 34:35SPEAKER_10: But you have to make that clear right now.
- 34:37SPEAKER_10: You know what I think we should do?
- 34:39SPEAKER_04: I think we should give them one of these beautiful pike shirts, while I pipe pickerel shirts.
- 34:45SPEAKER_09: Well, they get the choice with the with the the they get to choose.
- 34:49SPEAKER_09: He just overrode you again.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: I think he just overrode you again.
- 34:51SPEAKER_04: I said they get it.
- 34:54SPEAKER_05: You know, to be there doing it this way, we save nine dollars.
- 34:57SPEAKER_05: We do save like thirteen dollars doing it this way versus the other way.
- 35:01SPEAKER_05: But we can give him a bigger prize if you want.
- 35:08SPEAKER_09: I guess the adjunct is kind of a modern, it's the modern adjunct where they give you uh they act like the golden key to the city.
- 35:17SPEAKER_04: They act like they're not adjunct, I think is what you're trying to say.

- 35:53SPEAKER_04: I want to go to the Amazon, baby.
- 35:55SPEAKER_09: Oh man, it's been a while, brother.
- 35:56SPEAKER_04: It's been a while.
- 35:58SPEAKER_04: Joining us now is uh Bruno Fernandez and uh Diego Fantini, uh hosts of Pesca Arancho.
- 36:06SPEAKER_04: Oh, they seem to have dropped out of the call.
- 36:08SPEAKER_09: Well, we'll try and get them back.
- 36:09SPEAKER_09: And in the meanwhile, Ang and I will start to the Brazilian fishing show.
- 36:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, uh they are on Fish TV, not to be confused with uh Fish TV uh of Canadian.
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: Maybe Leo's Brazilian.
- 36:22SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 36:23SPEAKER_04: Maybe he's producing it.
- 36:23SPEAKER_04: Who knows?
- 36:24SPEAKER_04: Anyways, that's uh Brazil's fishing network.
- 36:27SPEAKER_04: Um now we're gonna we're gonna try and hook up with him here in a moment.
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: Apparently we had them and then we drop off, so we'll just continue as well.
- 36:35SPEAKER_09: You have to realize that uses are are are in the on the Amazon or somewhere in the Amazonians or whatever down there right now.
- 36:42SPEAKER_09: So there's there's gonna be a bit of a a possibility of bad kind of thing.
- 36:46SPEAKER_09: That's the first.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: I don't think we've ever done this on the show.
- 36:48SPEAKER_09: I know that's what I'm thinking.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: This is we're going live out in the field.
- 36:52SPEAKER_04: In this case, uh the Amazon.
- 36:54SPEAKER_09: So the guy's phone, you know, that's crazy.
- 36:56SPEAKER_09: That's insane.
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: Uh, viewers uh that watch or know their show, uh, or if you go watch their podcast or their YouTube channel, you'll see the the um they do a lot of behind the scenes uh struggles.
- 37:08SPEAKER_04: Uh, because if you're ever gonna film behind the scenes, is there a place better than the Amazon River?
- 37:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah, can you imagine?
- 37:15SPEAKER_09: Like that stuff that goes on.
- 37:17SPEAKER_09: Oh my god, yeah.
- 37:18SPEAKER_09: I mean, and this the beauty of a YouTube channel is that you can show all that stuff.
- 37:22SPEAKER_09: But in a half an hour fishing show, it's very difficult to show all the trials and tribulations and the big fish.
- 37:27SPEAKER_09: Exactly.
- 37:28SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 37:28SPEAKER_10: So uh I think we got him back.
- 37:30SPEAKER_10: I think we got him back.
- 37:30SPEAKER_10: Looks like it.
- 37:32SPEAKER_10: Are you back, boys?
- 37:34SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah, we're back.
- 37:35SPEAKER_10: Excellent.
- 37:36SPEAKER_09: I like that scene right there.
- 37:37SPEAKER_09: That's awesome.
- 37:38SPEAKER_06: Say hi to Canada, Fancini.
- 37:41SPEAKER_06: Hey buddy, this is Fantini from Brazil.
- 37:44SPEAKER_06: Nice.
- 37:44SPEAKER_06: We are here in Amazon Rainforest cancel.
- 37:51SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 37:51SPEAKER_04: I'll tell you the color of that water brings me back to a long, long time ago when Pete and I were down there.
- 37:57SPEAKER_07: That's the most yeah, you come here, you come here with talking to us with the iCast, your experience here on Amazon.
- 38:04SPEAKER_07: This was good, good, good, good job.
- 38:06SPEAKER_04: You know, one of the one of the things I was just about to say, one of the things that I think everybody that goes there for the first time probably is surprised at the color of the water.
- 38:14SPEAKER_04: You kind of expect the Amazon River to be this dark something.
- 38:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but it's not.
- 38:21SPEAKER_04: It's we can clearly see over your uh shoulder there, Bruno.
- 38:24SPEAKER_04: It's it's a brown, muddy looking uh piece of water.
- 38:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:28SPEAKER_07: Because this is your a year from El Nino, you know, and like it's getting low faster than normal.
- 38:35SPEAKER_07: Oh wow, I get it.
- 38:37SPEAKER_07: I hear you saying someplace no water, you know.
- 38:40SPEAKER_07: Look at this.
- 38:41SPEAKER_07: We're like uh the front of the lake.
- 38:44SPEAKER_07: Look at this.
- 38:46SPEAKER_07: And because of the El Nino, the water is going low more faster.
- 38:50SPEAKER_07: Look at here.
- 38:51SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 38:52SPEAKER_07: Like, you know, the water goes into the rainforest here.
- 38:56SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:57SPEAKER_07: And it should be now in this.
- 38:59SPEAKER_07: We are in August, it should be like lower, uh, higher than this.
- 39:03SPEAKER_07: Wow, it's like so low now.
- 39:05SPEAKER_07: That that's the reason it's it's color.
- 39:07SPEAKER_07: Wow, interesting.
- 39:09SPEAKER_09: I heard you saying type of type of muddy, you know.
- 39:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I heard you saying Amazonians or Amazonia or something like that.
- 39:16SPEAKER_09: What does that mean as compared to just Amazon?
- 39:18SPEAKER_09: First, just to clarify that.
- 39:20SPEAKER_07: Amazon, you you thought you you say what is Amazonia?
- 39:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Amazonia or Amazonian, or whatever you said there.
- 39:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he's talking about this the Brazilian state.
- 39:28SPEAKER_06: Oh, is it state?
- 39:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's the same name.
- 39:31SPEAKER_07: I got you.
- 39:32SPEAKER_07: Yeah, perfect.
- 39:33SPEAKER_07: But in Amazonia, we have the Amazonia starts at Colombia and goes uh goes down to Brazil and a lot of rivers, Rio Negro, Solimões.
- 39:42SPEAKER_07: We're now in Rioacari.
- 39:44SPEAKER_07: Uh and the type of fish we're fishing here is Tucurarap Pinima, is the peacock best pinima.
- 39:50SPEAKER_09: Nice, nice.
- 39:51SPEAKER_07: Okay, thank you.
- 39:52SPEAKER_07: Pick it up.
- 39:53SPEAKER_07: Let me try to pick it up a fish now.
- 39:54SPEAKER_07: Have you got one there?
- 39:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah, sure.
- 39:56SPEAKER_07: Let's have a look.
- 39:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:57SPEAKER_07: Let's do this.
- 39:58SPEAKER_07: Let me change the camera now.
- 39:59SPEAKER_07: We're we're trying to with uh jigs, you know.
- 40:03SPEAKER_07: We already tried the propeller.
- 40:05SPEAKER_07: This one we use a lot of this.
- 40:08SPEAKER_07: Uh, this is a cono fledge for dual international.
- 40:12SPEAKER_07: It's a big one.
- 40:14SPEAKER_07: This is a type of fish we have here.
- 40:16SPEAKER_07: Name it arari.
- 40:18SPEAKER_04: And oh, I think we dropped them again.
- 40:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_09: It's just it's imitating, trying to imitate their bait fish by the looks of what they're doing there.
- 40:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:26SPEAKER_09: And those prop baits that he's got in the front there.
- 40:28SPEAKER_09: That's I mean, that's what we used to throw that when we were down there.
- 40:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's peacock food.
- 40:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah, oh here he is, they're back, I think.
- 40:34SPEAKER_07: Or a guy, or a guy, too, yeah.
- 40:36SPEAKER_07: Oh, and the guy's grabbing a rod.
- 40:37SPEAKER_09: Now you know you're gonna get one.
- 40:40SPEAKER_07: I got the rod.
- 40:42SPEAKER_07: I say to the guys, let's try to pick it up a fish.
- 40:46SPEAKER_04: That'll be cool, man.
- 40:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think we're getting uh what we what we were afraid of.
- 40:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:55SPEAKER_04: Um anyways, these fellas also do a podcast, which uh I don't know, Dean, is it something that we can pick up here?
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: Um hold on.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: I'm just trying to figure out this call thing.
- 41:08SPEAKER_05: I am too.
- 41:08SPEAKER_05: I'm on uh I'm on the other end here trying to see what's going on.
- 41:11SPEAKER_05: I think I think our best bet may be to reschedule.
- 41:17SPEAKER_05: Reschedule.
- 41:18SPEAKER_05: Wow, we got them now.
- 41:20SPEAKER_05: We do have them now.
- 41:21SPEAKER_05: I mean, if we can just wait.
- 41:22SPEAKER_05: Oh, it seems to be coming back a little bit.
- 41:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we'll just keep them.
- 41:25SPEAKER_04: Listen, all right.
- 41:26SPEAKER_04: We'll get them when we can get them.
- 41:28SPEAKER_04: Uh this is uh a once-in-a-lifetimer.
- 41:31SPEAKER_04: Are you kidding me?
- 41:31SPEAKER_04: Reschedule.
- 41:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, no problem there.
- 41:33SPEAKER_04: Get back out on the Amazon.
- 41:35SPEAKER_09: We'll do it in five different segments, five different podcasts.
- 41:40SPEAKER_04: But uh exciting.
- 41:41SPEAKER_04: Of course, this type of fish fishery, uh, it is a river that they're fishing, so there it is moving water, although not in most places that we fished, it wasn't moving like quickly.
- 41:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it wasn't like uh St.
- 41:53SPEAKER_04: Lawrence or anything like that.
- 41:55SPEAKER_09: Just a nice slow pace, right?
- 41:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and and the biggest difference between the St.
- 41:59SPEAKER_04: Lawrence and there is that uh there are critters in that place that will eat you.
- 42:06SPEAKER_10: Yeah, not even looking at the clarity, just the stuff that lives below the surface of that river.
- 42:11SPEAKER_04: Was that the place where we saw that huge crocodile that was gonna attack Todd?
- 42:15SPEAKER_09: It was like the biggest freaking crocodile we've ever seen.
- 42:17SPEAKER_09: Like we saw so very quickly to the audience uh we were going through the fishing trip, and we see all these little caimans, these little small crocodiles all over the place, and the guys are just laughing at them.
- 42:26SPEAKER_09: The Leo, our guide, chased them up the bank and all that stuff at night.
- 42:30SPEAKER_09: Then all of a sudden we got this one, and everybody, all the boats started gathering, and and then as soon as that big croc went under, it all our guy just out of here, boys, let's go, because he was worried about us, you know, getting attacked by the and it was huge.
- 42:42SPEAKER_09: Like it was literally one of those ones that looks like uh down in uh Australia or something.
- 42:46SPEAKER_09: So huge.
- 42:46SPEAKER_04: So almost dinosaurish.
- 42:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that that with the big scales big head and then the tail stuff.
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Of course, I think anything, just about anything in that river, uh is potentially dangerous from uh piranha.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: Hell yeah.
- 43:00SPEAKER_04: Uh, right up to the uh the crocs, as we mentioned.
- 43:03SPEAKER_09: Electric eels.
- 43:04SPEAKER_09: Remember that.
- 43:04SPEAKER_09: All the electric eels down there.
- 43:06SPEAKER_04: I mean, everything is is spooky, totally different.
- 43:08SPEAKER_04: But but you know what?
- 43:09SPEAKER_04: It's funny because nobody even talks about it, nobody thinks about it.
- 43:12SPEAKER_04: It's just another day at the uh you know, at at the office because uh our you mentioned our guide Leo.
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: It it was not not uncommon for him to jump in the water and have a quick uh cool down cool down, and yeah, and we're thinking, are you out of your mind?
- 43:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:26SPEAKER_09: Right where we're catching piranha, he's in there cooling down.
- 43:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but uh peacock bass is an interesting creature because unlike most of the other fish in the water, it doesn't have those big fangs, although it's got it's got a little bit, a little bit of uh of uh uh a row of teeth showing, but not much.
- 43:45SPEAKER_04: You certainly have to be careful with the upper lip, I think it is.
- 43:47SPEAKER_04: It's got two or three.
- 43:49SPEAKER_04: Oh, does it?
- 43:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I can't remember.
- 43:51SPEAKER_04: But it's pretty much the only one that that you could possibly lip.
- 43:56SPEAKER_09: And it's and it is still yet, it has a an attitude like you would not believe.
- 44:00SPEAKER_09: But make a smallmouth bass look like a little baby.
- 44:03SPEAKER_09: The attitude that they have, they're just crazy.
- 44:06SPEAKER_04: Look at the boys.
- 44:06SPEAKER_04: Look at the boys hustling there.
- 44:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah, they're working hard.
- 44:10SPEAKER_09: They must be sitting right on a honey spot because they're they're uh they're working hard at it.
- 44:14SPEAKER_09: But you see how fast he's working that rod tip.
- 44:17SPEAKER_09: The thing about a peacock bass, again, with that attitude, is that it's nothing subtle about it.
- 44:21SPEAKER_09: You could probably catch him on a jig and whatever, but the I think the beauty of it is the topwater aggressiveness of the uh presentation to the aggressiveness of the fish, too, right?
- 44:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're looking looks like they're using that uh almost like a jerkbait one that we were quickly looking at, as opposed to topwater.
- 44:37SPEAKER_09: Is there no audio, boys?
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: If uh do you know in uh next the audio is very sparse.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: Let me try to tap them in here.
- 44:44SPEAKER_04: Beautiful.
- 44:44SPEAKER_04: Look at that.
- 44:46SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 44:46SPEAKER_04: Uh that's boys.
- 44:48SPEAKER_04: Come on, boys, you can do this.
- 44:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you have a big have a big fish there.
- 44:54SPEAKER_07: Yeah, have a big fish there.
- 44:56SPEAKER_07: You can see it?
- 44:57SPEAKER_07: Like, yeah, yeah.
- 44:59SPEAKER_07: Go get him.
- 44:59SPEAKER_07: Trying to pick it up him.
- 45:00SPEAKER_07: Yeah, all of Canada's watching you right now.
- 45:04SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:05SPEAKER_04: Let's do it on live, man.
- 45:07SPEAKER_04: Come on, buddy.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: You can do this.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: No pressure.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 45:11SPEAKER_04: Now, what is that bait?
- 45:12SPEAKER_04: What is that bait you're throwing?
- 45:14SPEAKER_04: Oh, there it is.
- 45:14SPEAKER_07: Almost, almost, almost.
- 45:17SPEAKER_07: This is like uh uh uh entrance of a lake, you know, and big fishes still here, yeah, picking up little ones, little fishes who get inside or get outside, you know.
- 45:28SPEAKER_07: Okay, okay, and this is a good good place to cast.
- 45:31SPEAKER_07: Let's see if you want to eat.
- 45:33SPEAKER_09: Uh-huh.
- 45:34SPEAKER_09: Come on, big girl.
- 45:35SPEAKER_09: Big come on, come on.
- 45:38SPEAKER_10: We've never done this on a podcast before.
- 45:40SPEAKER_10: This is cool.
- 45:41SPEAKER_10: It's like a play by play.
- 45:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and your guys are feeling what uh that you're fishing with with we here.
- 45:49SPEAKER_09: Oh, right.
- 45:50SPEAKER_09: We're living vicariously through you guys right now.
- 45:52SPEAKER_09: We are trust me.
- 45:54SPEAKER_09: You guys are with us.
- 45:56SPEAKER_04: How long are you guys on this particular trip on this shoot?
- 46:00SPEAKER_04: Two days.
- 46:01SPEAKER_04: Two days.
- 46:02SPEAKER_07: We flight on two days ago, and we already made the program.
- 46:08SPEAKER_07: All nice big fishes.
- 46:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:12SPEAKER_04: Give us uh an idea of the size of the fish that you're after, boys.
- 46:17SPEAKER_07: Uh seven seven zero centimeters, you know.
- 46:20SPEAKER_07: Okay, seventy centimeters.
- 46:22SPEAKER_05: That's uh that's that's uh quite a good bit over two feet.
- 46:26SPEAKER_04: 40 inches, I believe, right?
- 46:28SPEAKER_05: No, no, no, 30 centimeters is a foot.
- 46:31SPEAKER_05: So 70 is two feet plus ten centimeters.
- 46:35SPEAKER_09: That's that's a big peacock.
- 46:38SPEAKER_04: That's a big two and a half two and a bit feet long.
- 46:42SPEAKER_04: It's about 40 inches if you do all the if you if you do your inches.
- 46:45SPEAKER_04: No, no, I don't do my inches.
- 46:48SPEAKER_04: I do my I do my soom.
- 46:50SPEAKER_04: Those are uh those are good sizes.
- 46:52SPEAKER_04: Although, although peacock will grow to uh to humongous.
- 46:54SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah, like 25 pounders, you know.
- 46:57SPEAKER_04: Boys, what's the uh current record for peacock bass there where you are?
- 47:01SPEAKER_04: I I think maybe this guy say to us 97.
- 47:06SPEAKER_07: Oh my god.
- 47:07SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 47:07SPEAKER_07: I don't know if it's true.
- 47:08SPEAKER_07: He said to us today, we're gonna check the photo.
- 47:12SPEAKER_07: Oh my god.
- 47:14SPEAKER_07: That's huge.
- 47:15SPEAKER_07: Yeah, 97 centimeters is a huge one.
- 47:18SPEAKER_07: My bigger one is 85.
- 47:20SPEAKER_07: 85 centimeters.
- 47:21SPEAKER_04: Now, what would that uh what would that fish weigh?
- 47:24SPEAKER_04: Do you know?
- 47:26SPEAKER_07: Uh about 24 libras.
- 47:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, pounds.
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: 24 pounds.
- 47:31SPEAKER_04: Holy that's huge, eh?
- 47:33SPEAKER_04: That's a bass we're talking to here, folks.
- 47:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:36SPEAKER_04: They're not good one.
- 47:38SPEAKER_04: They're not although I gotta be honest with you, it's the first time I've seen anybody fishing for them with anything other than top water.
- 47:43SPEAKER_04: Normally, that's that seems to be the only bait that's that's thrown for these, but you guys have taken you guys are obviously using something a little bit subsurface, eh?
- 47:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we're trying to uh this is a soft bait.
- 47:57SPEAKER_07: Look at this with the hook.
- 48:00SPEAKER_04: Uh like a big fluke, yeah.
- 48:02SPEAKER_04: Okay, nice.
- 48:03SPEAKER_07: Yeah, because we're fishing, you know that uh that woods?
- 48:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:07SPEAKER_07: We're trying trying to take the fish off that woods.
- 48:10SPEAKER_07: Chiago is using a jig, most safe.
- 48:13SPEAKER_09: Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 48:14SPEAKER_07: Do you guys you run to jig a little one with a strong hook, you know?
- 48:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you I would assume you'd have a strong hook on that sucker.
- 48:22SPEAKER_09: Do you guys run braid all the time?
- 48:24SPEAKER_09: Braided line, or what do you use?
- 48:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah, braid line, braid line.
- 48:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah, what braid?
- 48:27SPEAKER_07: No, no, you have like stretch, you know, right.
- 48:30SPEAKER_07: And we we don't like this for for uh bait, bait casting, yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 48:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's not so good.
- 48:37SPEAKER_07: So uh tell us a little bit about the program, about the show.
- 48:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah, the prog the program is uh we're showing, we're recording the sixth episode, and the first one already uh goes to the television in this week.
- 48:54SPEAKER_06: Nice second season, the second season, yeah.
- 48:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we're in the second season.
- 48:58SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we already wrecked the first season, and now second season on the sixth program.
- 49:04SPEAKER_07: We have about like uh we're talking about eight.
- 49:10SPEAKER_07: We're gonna come eight times at Amazonia.
- 49:12SPEAKER_07: Now seven.
- 49:13SPEAKER_07: Wow in the next one.
- 49:14SPEAKER_07: Actually, yeah, with groups, you know, we have groups too.
- 49:20SPEAKER_04: Nice, nice.
- 49:22SPEAKER_04: Um, how did you two how did you two guys uh uh get together on this?
- 49:28SPEAKER_04: How do we get here together?
- 49:29SPEAKER_04: No, no, together.
- 49:30SPEAKER_04: Uh how did you come up with the idea that hey, let's shoot a fishing show?
- 49:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we have an Instagram, and our Instagram is like uh have a lot of followers, you know, and we make a show from uh Amazon Prime.
- 49:43SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 49:44SPEAKER_07: Oh look at look at this, look at this.
- 49:46SPEAKER_07: A big fish here.
- 49:47SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah, big fish here.
- 49:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah, big fish here.
- 49:50SPEAKER_07: He's coming out a problem.
- 49:51SPEAKER_04: He wants he wants to say hello to the uh Canadian audience.
- 49:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah, right.
- 49:56SPEAKER_07: Trying to come here.
- 49:57SPEAKER_07: We're gonna just look at look at this.
- 50:07SPEAKER_09: Oh, these guys should go probably just driving them nuts.
- 50:10SPEAKER_09: They're right there.
- 50:13SPEAKER_09: Sight fishing peacocks.
- 50:15SPEAKER_09: Wow.
- 50:17SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's peacock.
- 50:18SPEAKER_07: Our guide say that peacock is a peacock.
- 50:21SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 50:21SPEAKER_04: What other what other fish what other fish are out there that you could be fishing for?
- 50:27SPEAKER_04: What what?
- 50:28SPEAKER_04: What other species are in that water that you we hear we have red tail catfish?
- 50:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 50:35SPEAKER_07: Uh tomorrow, a guy, hooked one, about uh five zero kilos.
- 50:41SPEAKER_07: A huge one, such a huge, huge one.
- 50:44SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:46SPEAKER_07: And we have two are pama.
- 50:48SPEAKER_07: We have aroana.
- 50:50SPEAKER_07: You know that that one is like a uh uh Chago Tech one for uh 80 centimeter centimeters, 85 centimeters today.
- 51:01SPEAKER_07: Wow, it's almost a record, almost a Brazilian record.
- 51:04SPEAKER_07: Wow, nice.
- 51:05SPEAKER_04: Uh have you got payara there?
- 51:08unknown: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:09SPEAKER_07: Uh I think cachorraquini in it.
- 51:12SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we have two.
- 51:13SPEAKER_07: Not the big not the biggest one, but we have.
- 51:16SPEAKER_04: They're cool, eh?
- 51:16SPEAKER_04: They're a cool fish.
- 51:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:19SPEAKER_07: There's a strong.
- 51:21SPEAKER_04: For uh the audience that uh might not be familiar with it.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: That's that one that you've seen uh in pictures and and videos.
- 51:28SPEAKER_04: Dracula.
- 51:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah, Dracula's got the big fangs that stick outside of its name of Brazil is like dog fish, you know.
- 51:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah, cachorra here.
- 51:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it looked like canine teeth, yeah, for sure.
- 51:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:40SPEAKER_04: Have two big teeth on the mouth.
- 51:42SPEAKER_07: Umpire.
- 51:43SPEAKER_07: Umpire fish, yeah.
- 51:45SPEAKER_04: And uh the the cool part when we fished for them was that we're using uh piranha for bait, so we'd have to catch the piranha and then use the piranha for bait.
- 51:54SPEAKER_04: That was kind of a cool deal as well.
- 51:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you know you're in uh you're in rough country when you're throwing piranha for bait.
- 52:01SPEAKER_10: I love it.
- 52:02SPEAKER_10: That's awesome.
- 52:03SPEAKER_10: Oh my god.
- 52:04SPEAKER_04: So both of you guys are from uh where?
- 52:09SPEAKER_07: I'm from Americana.
- 52:11SPEAKER_07: It's like a little little city near Sao Paulo in Thiago.
- 52:14SPEAKER_07: It's from Campinas.
- 52:15SPEAKER_04: Is that near San Paulo as well?
- 52:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, about two hours, you know.
- 52:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 52:23SPEAKER_07: Now, top water.
- 52:24SPEAKER_07: Here comes the proxy.
- 52:25SPEAKER_07: Oh god, here we go.
- 52:28SPEAKER_07: Here we go.
- 52:29SPEAKER_07: This one is like a stick, and there's a propeller.
- 52:32SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:33SPEAKER_07: Let's see, let's see, let's see.
- 52:36SPEAKER_10: We're watching, boys.
- 52:38SPEAKER_10: God, I wish I was there right now.
- 52:40SPEAKER_10: Ah, that'd be fun.
- 52:42SPEAKER_09: Uh those big musky baits would work.
- 52:48SPEAKER_09: I was thinking about our Yozuri glide bait.
- 52:50SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 52:51SPEAKER_04: It's not really big.
- 52:53SPEAKER_09: It's just uh it's you know seven-inch bait.
- 52:55SPEAKER_09: There's not much bigger than these things are throwing.
- 52:57SPEAKER_04: I I don't I think they want something a little noisier, a little flashier.
- 53:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you can you can you can work it hard.
- 53:04SPEAKER_09: You could, you could.
- 53:05SPEAKER_09: I mean, it doesn't make any noise, I don't think, unless the hooks are clanging or the joint on it, it maybe makes some noise.
- 53:10SPEAKER_04: But uh You know, you know what would work is a supersized um uh chatterbait.
- 53:17SPEAKER_09: Oh, like a supersized one, you know, like something this log.
- 53:21SPEAKER_09: I've seen musky sized chatterbaits.
- 53:22SPEAKER_09: They don't know where they uh they used to sell them at a sale used to sell them, and I don't see them anymore.
- 53:26SPEAKER_09: But that how big?
- 53:28SPEAKER_09: How big um it's not as big as what you're saying, but uh twice the size of a nor of a uh uh Z-Man has a big blade and it's twice the size of a big blade.
- 53:37SPEAKER_09: So it's you know, there was it was substantial.
- 53:40SPEAKER_09: That might be.
- 53:40SPEAKER_09: It was musky sized, yeah.
- 53:42SPEAKER_09: But I'd hate to be reeling that in all day.
- 53:44SPEAKER_09: Oh my god, that would be well, and I guess there's no double tens, anything.
- 53:47SPEAKER_04: No worse than this stuff.
- 53:48SPEAKER_09: I mean what about even bucktails, like big musky bucktails, not big ones, maybe a number double sixes or double double eights.
- 53:55SPEAKER_09: I bet you that would work in there.
- 53:56SPEAKER_09: A lot of flash, yeah.
- 53:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, hey, do you guys uh use any blades at all?
- 54:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like a blade.
- 54:04SPEAKER_09: It's like a spin, like a spinner, big a big spinner type of blade.
- 54:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah, when when we use spinner, it's like is the end of our uh takeo box, the last one here.
- 54:16SPEAKER_07: You say not catching nothing, let's go to spinner.
- 54:20SPEAKER_07: Okay, I got you.
- 54:22SPEAKER_07: It's like it's like it's like this, man.
- 54:24SPEAKER_07: I I think it's maybe maybe boring, you know.
- 54:26SPEAKER_07: Okay, okay.
- 54:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 54:28SPEAKER_07: We like this, we like this, rock and roll.
- 54:30SPEAKER_04: Well, you know that our biggest fish, our biggest freshwater fish here, the muskie in Canada.
- 54:37SPEAKER_04: That's the I would say probably the most used bait for muskie would be something with blades.
- 54:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and that's a big ferocious animal.
- 54:46SPEAKER_04: And I'll tell you, blades are number one for those guys.
- 54:49SPEAKER_09: Yeah, for sure.
- 54:50SPEAKER_09: For sure.
- 54:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but I mean, I've seen guys fish muskie like that, what they're doing right there, too.
- 54:55SPEAKER_09: I mean, definitely they'll do it.
- 54:56SPEAKER_07: But you guys don't use propeller there, yeah, yeah.
- 54:59SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:00SPEAKER_09: We do, but uh not as much as you guys do, that's for sure.
- 55:03SPEAKER_09: Not like I mean not near as much.
- 55:05SPEAKER_07: We say we say to everybody, if you want to uh select the type of the size of fish, put propeller because only the big ones come, you know.
- 55:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, ah, I gotcha.
- 55:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they hear all the commotion, yeah.
- 55:19SPEAKER_04: It doesn't scare them, in other words.
- 55:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:23SPEAKER_04: Just hit and them.
- 55:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, now I know you guys are big on catch and release, um, but on the river itself, is there some sort of a um policy or maybe government rules and regulations in terms of keeping or releasing fish?
- 55:42SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's starting to work in Brazil.
- 55:44SPEAKER_07: You know, everybody's like seeing that the the fishing, catch and release, and the fishing tourism is much uh better than you catch and eat, you know, and sell fish.
- 55:55SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 55:56SPEAKER_07: I'm talking about more money, you know, more people and tourism.
- 56:01SPEAKER_07: And we're talking.
- 56:02SPEAKER_07: Oh, look at this.
- 56:03SPEAKER_07: You guys see?
- 56:04SPEAKER_07: You guys see?
- 56:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I just saw that flash.
- 56:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:07SPEAKER_07: That's a big one.
- 56:08SPEAKER_07: That's a big one.
- 56:09SPEAKER_04: Catch them, boys.
- 56:11SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:12SPEAKER_04: Let's see.
- 56:13SPEAKER_04: Okay, here we go.
- 56:17SPEAKER_04: Everybody everybody's holding their breath.
- 56:19SPEAKER_04: I love this.
- 56:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:23SPEAKER_05: Oh, so you put some suspension music to this.
- 56:26SPEAKER_05: Yes, yeah, exactly.
- 56:27SPEAKER_09: The jaws very, very cash show successful for you guys.
- 56:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah, a lot of person going to Amazon Spirit in the next year.
- 56:53SPEAKER_07: Like everybody in America knows the the Tucunare, the peacock bass butterfly, you know.
- 56:58SPEAKER_07: But everyone see the vasolarians and say, Wow, it's such a big one.
- 57:04SPEAKER_07: We yeah, yeah, it's huge ones.
- 57:07SPEAKER_07: Cool.
- 57:09SPEAKER_09: Go ahead, Answer.
- 57:10SPEAKER_09: I was gonna say, going back to uh the catch and release thing, just to let people, uh, the our audience know when Ange and I were down there with Reno, we actually ate a peacock bass.
- 57:19SPEAKER_09: Remember that?
- 57:20SPEAKER_09: We they went on an inland lake, and then Leo and Najou, the guy, the guides, cooked them up for us, and it was good.
- 57:26SPEAKER_09: God damn it.
- 57:27SPEAKER_04: Delicious.
- 57:27SPEAKER_09: Mind you, I think anything would have been good.
- 57:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:31SPEAKER_07: The the little ones, you know, that fish is is uh swim together.
- 57:34SPEAKER_07: The little ones, yeah, that's okay, no problem.
- 57:36SPEAKER_07: You can catch one and you know, eat that's good.
- 57:39SPEAKER_07: Uh every tourist, the tourist is coming, come to here and wants to eat a fish, you know.
- 57:44SPEAKER_07: Right, but every guy's like uh uh kill a lot, kill the big ones, and that's that's not good.
- 57:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's terrible, no matter what species, that's not good.
- 57:52SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I say I say to everybody, everybody asking me, Why did you catch the fish and don't eat for the men?
- 57:58SPEAKER_07: It's like you're a soccer player, you're gonna pick it up the ball and put a knife on your paw, man.
- 58:03SPEAKER_07: You know, the fish is our ball.
- 58:05SPEAKER_07: I made this operation.
- 58:07SPEAKER_07: Everyone knows that that's what I'm talking about, you know.
- 58:10SPEAKER_07: I hear you.
- 58:10SPEAKER_10: That's good.
- 58:11SPEAKER_10: Good analogy.
- 58:12SPEAKER_10: Very good.
- 58:13SPEAKER_10: That's good.
- 58:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:14SPEAKER_07: Our sport, we have to do to have a fish alive, you know, because if you you you kill the fish, you can kill one too, no problem.
- 58:23SPEAKER_07: But everyone likes to kill a lot of one.
- 58:25SPEAKER_07: You know, you guys already heard just uh just speak on Pantanao.
- 58:30SPEAKER_07: No, Pantanao is very famous here in Brazil, but the law uh permit the fisherman's uh bring eight fish and one one big one, you know?
- 58:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and everybody, every week we're talking about uh ten boats.
- 58:48SPEAKER_09: Oh right, right I know what he's saying though, right?
- 58:51SPEAKER_09: He's every week every ten boats doing it, every person two people per boat, and uh that it's yeah, exactly the same thing as we talk about in northern Ontario for walleye, for instance, right?
- 59:01SPEAKER_04: Imagine that we're talking, you know, in the heart of the Amazon, talking like that.
- 59:06SPEAKER_04: Because I mean, of all places on the planet, obviously, the Amazon is that place where we think it's it's never ending, right?
- 59:14SPEAKER_04: You can rape and pillage, you can take everything away from it, it's gonna go on forever.
- 59:18SPEAKER_04: And now we know that that's not the case, whether it's the rainforest or whether it's the fishery, animals, what uh insects, no matter what.
- 59:26SPEAKER_04: So that's down there.
- 59:27SPEAKER_04: You can imagine here um how critical it is that we start the and I'm talking about areas that haven't started already.
- 59:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, putting in place good management tools.
- 59:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah, right.
- 59:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah, because that you gotta remember that body of water is ridiculously big.
- 59:44SPEAKER_09: I mean, uh in the world of rivers, it's like I mean, our our Ottawa River, our St.
- 59:49SPEAKER_09: Lawrence, these are huge bodies of water that can be that will be affected by improper management.
- 59:57SPEAKER_04: Is the Amazon is it the Amazon or the Nile?
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_04: No, it's think it's the Amazon, the world's longest river, if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_04: Or is it the biggest flow?
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_04: It it's big, it's first in one of the categories.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_09: And boys can look that up for us real quick.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_09: Well, they might be busy.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_04: I don't want to take them away from what they normally do.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_05: All right, all right.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_05: How about this?
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_05: I got some information.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_05: The Amazon region in South America spans over 6.7 million square kilometers, holds the world's largest tropical rainforest, and the largest river river by water volume.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_05: It covers parts of eight countries and holds roughly 10% of all species on Earth.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_05: It covers an area twice the size of India, houses almost 400 billion trees, and releases 20 billion tons of water vapor into the air daily.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_05: I did not know all that.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_04: But I knew it was the biggest.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_05: It's got two and a half million insect species, 40,000 plant species, 1,300 types of birds, 430 types of mammals, including Pink River dolphins and jaguars.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_05: That's cool.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: We saw those.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: Imagine they're spooky.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_04: At first, when you first see them, they're a little spooky because they because they almost look human.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_04: In that dirty water.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_04: I think our boys are back.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_09: And they eat uh they eat the peacock bass too.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_09: They're fighting or whatever.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_09: They'll come they'll or when you release them, they eat them.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_07: So did you get one, boys?
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_07: No, no, no.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_07: Almost.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_07: Sorry about the connection.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_07: We're in the middle of the Amazonia and all time fall, man.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_07: We're startling, but let's keep trying.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_07: Let's keep trying.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_07: Let's make it happen.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_04: That is fantastic.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_04: Good for you.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_04: We were just talking about the uh the size of the vastness of the area that you're in in terms of you know water flow and and and vegetation, animal species.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_04: Uh like it's just got everything.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_04: It's the you guys are sitting in the middle of Earth's um natural uh sanctuary, if you will.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_04: And people don't realize that.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we have the the the the most uh fishery species in the world here.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and the spider ones we have uh I think Mardin Hundred.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_04: We were just talking uh we were just talking about uh the um the dolphin, the pink dolphin that lives there.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_04: Have you guys seen one lately?
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're cool.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_04: Oh lost them again.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_10: Just so we're getting to the good stuff every time.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_10: Oh, there is it.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_07: They're back.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_07: I pick it, I pick it up a wood in the middle of the river.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_07: Great.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_07: Oh, that's good.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_07: That's good.

- 1:08:40SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_08: Nice, buddy.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_04: Nice, nice job.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_04: You know, people we try and explain to people all the time that this animal that we call peacock, like it it's totally unique.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_04: It does not behave like any other fish that you can think of.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_04: It's got to be the most aggressive, the strongest, the most insane freshwater fish that you can.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_07: The top water on the propeller me.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_07: It's crazy, crazy, crazy.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's unbelievable.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_09: Anyways, and they fight from like from the bite to the release.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_09: They're still like the like you're you can hardly lip.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_09: That's why they use the grippers on those things because you try to lip a peacock bass, it'll break your hand almost, right?
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_09: A big one.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_09: They're so strong.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_04: So good stuff.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_04: All right, we gotta cut you loose, brother.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_04: Um, it has been an absolute pleasure.

- 1:10:00SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, we got now they've got the juices flowing.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_04: We need to get down there.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_09: How about a Mexico largemouth and then a Brazil peacock uh double trip?
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_09: How about that?
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_09: Let's do two trips instead, one in January and one in February.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_04: You don't want to ruin I think that sounds better.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_04: Actually, that sounds perfect.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no kidding.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_04: Because if you do both of those on one trip, yeah, I think you'd ruin it.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_04: Somehow.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you need to experience both on a set, you know, like a trip to Costa Rica for roosterfish, too.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_09: We might as well let's just do a nice winter world when, you know, just south south of the border, a la vista.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_04: See you later, folks.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_09: We'll base ourselves in Costa Rica.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_09: And we'll do the the the one, go to the Amazon, come back for a week and chill out, and then Mexico, and then come back another week, and then and then maybe some of the the uh bill fishing that we did off of Costa Rica's Pacific.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_09: God forbid we do that right there.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_09: Catching tons of noise.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_04: Are we being silly enough for you?
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_09: No, we'll do it.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it'd be awesome.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_09: I'll tell you what, that if for anybody that's an exotic lover uh of you know for just wildlife scenery, fishing, I mean, like the the the the Amazon is just you can't you can't be faint of heart, though.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_04: And what I mean by that, this is not a place to go if you are looking for a place to overcome your fears of things like big insects.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah, you're gonna see that stuff.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_10: Oh my gosh.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, poisonous uh frogs and toads, yeah.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_04: Um crocodiles, crocodiles galore.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_04: Like if you if you're timid about that kind of stuff, I don't know, man.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_09: But if you like that kind of stuff, but if you love the adventure, oh my god, that is the place for you.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_09: Plus outstanding fishing.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_09: Those red tail cats they're talking about.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_09: Oh my god, they're so much fun catching those things, and they are really prolific.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_09: The Pirabira cat that you and Reno caught.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_09: Yeah, uh big, you know, like they're uh they got a 75-pounder, and that's not even a big one there.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_09: Um they eat people, those cats, yeah, they eat little uh villagers, from what we were told.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_09: So it's uh yeah, pretty crazy place for sure.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_09: Highly recommended.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_04: Uh look up uh these two gentlemen, uh Bruno Fernandez and uh Diego Fentini.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_04: Uh watch their program, and uh it's by the way, it's called Pesca El Rancho, which means fishing and camping.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_04: Just just so just uh because you were asking earlier on.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_04: And it escaped me until just now.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_09: Thank you so much for that.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_04: And the reason the reason uh they call it that is because apparently they spend uh you know a lot of time showing you the behind the scenes part of the fishing, in other words, setting up camp, yeah, cooking, and preparing things.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_04: So it's kind of a different you know type of fishing show.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_05: That sounds a lot more like uh, or not a lot more, but a lot like Finding Nowhere, yeah, which was hosted on Amazon Prime Video.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_05: These guys are hosting theirs on the Amazon River.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_05: I'm just saying that we're seem to be missing out on this Amazon thing right now.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_05: I think one way or another.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_04: All indications are telling us we need to get our asses down to the Amazon.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_04: Is that what you're saying, Nick?
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_04: I mean, look, I can I'm an observer.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_04: The writing's on the wall, right, Nick?
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_05: The writing's on the wall.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_04: Dale.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_04: But we talk, I talked just a couple of moments ago about, you know, there's not the place you want to go if you have certain look.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_05: I I like everything.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_05: I just think that some of the things deserve less ability to live like spiders.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_05: Well, that's look, look, I'll be an anything guy because it's Brazil.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_05: And I'm not gonna, you know, you don't go to Brazil with thinking that I'm not gonna see.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_09: I just don't want to give no shit about my permethrin this time.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_09: And a spider drops into the boat from a tree, boom, and he starts around the boat.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_09: Do we have a shotgun?
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_09: I'll be okay.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_10: Boom! Well, now we have a hole in the boat.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_10: That's a good one.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_04: Anyways, uh, look these guys up, watch the program.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_04: Uh, if you're interested in finding out more, uh, as Bruno was saying, they do actually um I I guess they they can guide like host trips.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_04: Host trips and stuff, maybe hook you up with different.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_04: We met uh the way we met them, by the way, we were going to okay, who's got the name of that place?
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_01: Amazon Spirit.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_04: Amazon Spirit, which is a well-known uh high-end lodge um on the Amazon, and we were going to speak to the fellows who own it.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_04: And these two guys were in their booth, and that was kind of the genesis of uh of the meeting.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_04: Uh so they do work with them as well.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_04: Uh uh if if you have any aspirations of ever get down to Brazil, I check them out, man.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, very exotic, very cool.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_04: That are it.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_04: Unless anybody has any objections, I uh I would uh say we move on and close this baby up.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_04: Moving on.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_04: All right, on behalf of the entire crew, uh Nikki B, Mr.
