Speaker 1: by Elaine Conway, England. Here is nothing new, nor aught unproven,
• 0:17
Speaker 1: say the trumpets. Many feet have worn it, and the
• 0:20
Speaker 1: road is old. Indeed it is the king. The King
• 0:24
Speaker 1: we scold a full time trumpets in the marshes, in
• 0:28
Speaker 1: the eyot at Runnymede. Here is neither haste, nor hate
• 0:34
Speaker 1: nor anger. Peel the trumpets, pardon for his penitence, or
• 0:40
Speaker 1: pity for his fall. It is the King inexorable. Trumpets
• 0:46
Speaker 1: trumpets round the scaffold at the dawning by Whitehall. He
• 0:52
Speaker 1: have veiled the crown and hid the scepter, warned the trumpets.
• 0:58
Speaker 1: He hath changed the fashion of the lies that cloak
• 1:01
Speaker 1: his will hard die the kings ah hard, dooms hard,
• 1:09
Speaker 1: declare the trumpets. Trumpets at the gangplank, where the brawling
• 1:14
Speaker 1: troop decks fill ancient and unteachable, Abide, Abide the trumpets
• 1:22
Speaker 1: once again, the trumpets for the shuddering ground swell brings
• 1:27
Speaker 1: clamor over ocean of the harsh, pursuing trumpets, trumpets of
• 1:33
Speaker 1: the vanguard that have sworn no truce with kings, or
• 1:38
Speaker 1: we have of freedom or we use or know this
• 1:43
Speaker 1: our fathers bought for us long long ago, ancient right,
• 1:49
Speaker 1: and noticed as the breath we draw leave to live
• 1:54
Speaker 1: by no man's leave. Underneath the law, lance and torch
• 2:00
Speaker 1: and tumult, steel and gray goose wing wrenched it inch
• 2:07
Speaker 1: and ell and all slowly from the king till our
• 2:11
Speaker 1: fathers established after bloody years. How our king is one
• 2:17
Speaker 1: with us, first among his peers. So they bought as freedom,
• 2:24
Speaker 1: not at a little cost. Wherefore must we watch the
• 2:28
Speaker 1: king lest our gain be lost over all things certain,
• 2:33
Speaker 1: this is sure, indeed, suffer not the old King, for
• 2:38
Speaker 1: we know the breed. Give no ear to bondsmen bidding
• 2:43
Speaker 1: us endure whining. He is weak and far crying. Time
• 2:49
Speaker 1: shall cure. Time himself is witness till the battle joins
• 2:55
Speaker 1: deeper strikes the rottenness in the people's loins. Give no
• 3:01
Speaker 1: heed to bondsmen masking war with peace suffer. Not the
• 3:06
Speaker 1: old King hear, or overseas they that beggars bart wait
• 3:12
Speaker 1: his yielding mood pledge the years we hold in trust
• 3:18
Speaker 1: porn our brother's blood. How so great their clamor whatsoe'er
• 3:23
Speaker 1: their claim suffer, Not the old King under any name.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: Here is nought unproven, Here is nought to learn. It
• 3:33
Speaker 1: is written, what shall fall? If the king return? He
• 3:37
Speaker 1: shall mark our goings question whence we came, set his
• 3:42
Speaker 1: guards about us as in Freedom's name. He shall take
• 3:47
Speaker 1: a tribute, toll of all our ware. He shall change
• 3:51
Speaker 1: our gold for arms, arms we may not bear. He
• 3:55
Speaker 1: shall break his judges they cross his word. He shall
• 3:59
Speaker 1: rule above the law. Calling on the Lord, he shall
• 4:04
Speaker 1: peep and mutter, and the night shall bring watch us
• 4:08
Speaker 1: neath our window, lest we mock the king, hate and
• 4:13
Speaker 1: all division, hosts of harrying, spies, money poured in secret, carriyon,
• 4:20
Speaker 1: breeding flies, strangers of his counsel, higlings of his pay,
• 4:26
Speaker 1: These shall deal our justice, cell deny delay. We shall
• 4:33
Speaker 1: drink dishonor we shall eat abys for the land we
• 4:37
Speaker 1: look to, for the tongue we use. We shall take
• 4:41
Speaker 1: our station dirt beneath his feet, while his hired captains
• 4:47
Speaker 1: jeered us in the street, crawl in the shadow, crafty
• 4:51
Speaker 1: in the sun. Far beyond his borders. Shall his teachings
• 4:56
Speaker 1: run sloven, sullen, savage, secret, uncontrolled, laying on a new land,
• 5:05
Speaker 1: evil of the old, long forgotten, bonded dwarfing heart and brain.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: All our father's diet to lose, he shall bind again.
• 5:16
Speaker 1: Here is no adventure, random nor untrue swings. The willful
• 5:22
Speaker 1: circle brims the cup new. Here is naught unproven. Here
• 5:28
Speaker 1: is nothing hid step for step and word for word.
• 5:32
Speaker 1: So the old kings did step by step and word
• 5:37
Speaker 1: by word. Who is ruled may read suffer not the
• 5:42
Speaker 1: old kings, for we know the breed, all the right
• 5:47
Speaker 1: they promise, all the wrong they bring. Stewards of the
• 5:51
Speaker 1: judgment suffer not this king. End of poem. This recording

Speaker 2: The pageant closes, lit by the last of the sun,

Speaker 2: opal and ash of roses, cinnamon, umber, and dun. The
• 7:01
Speaker 2: twilight swallows the thicket, the starlight reveals the ridge. The
• 7:06
Speaker 2: whistle shrills to the picket. We are changing guard on
• 7:10
Speaker 2: the bridge, few forgotten and lonely, where the empty metals shine.
• 7:16
Speaker 2: No not combatants, only details guarding the line. We slip
• 7:23
Speaker 2: through the broken panel of fenced by the gander's shed.
• 7:27
Speaker 2: We drop to the waterless channel and the lean track overhead.
• 7:33
Speaker 2: We stumble on refuse of rations, the beef and the
• 7:36
Speaker 2: biscuit tins. We take our appointed stations, and the endless
• 7:41
Speaker 2: night begins. We hear the hotentot herders and the sheep
• 7:47
Speaker 2: click past to the fold, and the click of the
• 7:50
Speaker 2: restless girders, as the steel contracts in the cold, voices
• 7:56
Speaker 2: of Jackal's calling and loud in the hush pit. A
• 8:01
Speaker 2: morsel of dry earth falling from the flanks of the
• 8:04
Speaker 2: scarred ravine, and the solemn firmament marches, and the hosts
• 8:10
Speaker 2: of heaven rise framed through the iron arches, banded and
• 8:16
Speaker 2: barred by the ties, till we feel the far track coming,
• 8:20
Speaker 2: and we see her headlight playing, and we gather and
• 8:24
Speaker 2: wait her coming. The wonderful northbound train, few forgotten and lonely,
• 8:31
Speaker 2: where the white car windows shine, No, not combatants, only
• 8:36
Speaker 2: details guarding the line. Quick ere the gift escape us
• 8:41
Speaker 2: out of the darkness. We reach for a handful of
• 8:45
Speaker 2: weak old papers and a mouthful of human speech, and
• 8:49
Speaker 2: the monstrous heaven rejoices, and the earth allows again meetings, greetings,
• 8:55
Speaker 2: and voices of women talking with men. So we return
• 9:01
Speaker 2: to our places, as out on the bridge she rolls,
• 9:04
Speaker 2: and the darkness covers our faces, and the darkness re
• 9:09
Speaker 2: enters our souls more than a little lonely, where the

Speaker 3: The Lesson eighteen ninety nine to nineteen oh two by
• 9:38
Speaker 3: Rudyard Kipling readful LibriVox dot org by Patrick Wallace. Let
• 9:45
Speaker 3: us admit it fairly as a business people, should we
• 9:49
Speaker 3: have had no end of a lesson. It will do
• 9:52
Speaker 3: us no end of good, Not on a single issue,
• 9:56
Speaker 3: or in one direction or twain, but conclusively, comprehensively, and
• 10:00
Speaker 3: several times and again were all our most holy illusions,
• 10:04
Speaker 3: not higher than Gilderoy's kite. We have had a jolly
• 10:08
Speaker 3: good lesson, and it serves as jolly well right. This
• 10:13
Speaker 3: was not bestowed us under the trees, nor yet in
• 10:16
Speaker 3: the shade of a tent, but swingingly over eleven degrees
• 10:20
Speaker 3: of a bare brown continent, from Lamberts to Tulagua Bay,
• 10:25
Speaker 3: and from Petersburg to Sutherland, fell the phenomenal lesson we
• 10:29
Speaker 3: learned with a fullness accorded no other land. It was
• 10:34
Speaker 3: our fault, and are very grateful, and not the judgment
• 10:38
Speaker 3: of Heaven. We made an army in our own image
• 10:41
Speaker 3: on an island nine by seven, which faithfully mirrored its
• 10:46
Speaker 3: maker's ideals, equipment, and mental attitude. And so we got
• 10:51
Speaker 3: our lesson, and we ought to accept it with gratitude.
• 10:55
Speaker 3: We have spent two hundred million pounds to prove the
• 10:59
Speaker 3: fact once more that horses are quicker than men afoot,
• 11:03
Speaker 3: since two and two make four, and horses have four
• 11:06
Speaker 3: legs and men have two legs, and two into four
• 11:09
Speaker 3: goes twice, and nothing over except our lesson, and very
• 11:14
Speaker 3: cheap at the price. For remember this, our children shall know.
• 11:19
Speaker 3: We are too near for that knowledge, not our mere
• 11:22
Speaker 3: astonic camps, but counsel and creed and college, all the obese, unchallenged,
• 11:27
Speaker 3: old things that stifle and overlie us have felt the
• 11:31
Speaker 3: effects of the lesson. We got an advantage no money
• 11:35
Speaker 3: could buy us. Then let us develop this marvelous asset,
• 11:39
Speaker 3: which we alone command, and which it may subsequently transpire,
• 11:44
Speaker 3: will be worth as much as the round. Let us
• 11:47
Speaker 3: approach this pivotal fact in a humble yet hopeful mood.
• 11:52
Speaker 3: We have had no end of a lesson. It will
• 11:55
Speaker 3: do us no end of good. It was our fault
• 11:58
Speaker 3: and our very grateful, and now we must turn it
• 12:02
Speaker 3: to use. We have forty million reasons for failure, but
• 12:06
Speaker 3: not a single excuse. So the more we work and
• 12:10
Speaker 3: the less we talk, the better results we shall get.
• 12:15
Speaker 3: We have had an imperial lesson. It may make us
• 12:18
Speaker 3: an empire yet. End of poem. This recording is in
• 12:24

Speaker 4: referring to the files. Every question man can raise, every
• 12:43
Speaker 4: phrase of every phase of that question is on record
• 12:46
Speaker 4: in the files, threshed out, threadbare, fought and finished in
• 12:50
Speaker 4: the files. Ere The universe at large was our new
• 12:53
Speaker 4: tipped Arrow's charge ere we rediscovered Mammon and his wiles. Fienza,
• 12:57
Speaker 4: gentle reader, spent her five and twenty leader. You will
• 13:00
Speaker 4: find him and some others in the files. Warn all
• 13:04
Speaker 4: future Robert Brownings and Carliles. It will interest them to
• 13:07
Speaker 4: hunt among the files where unvisited a cold by the
• 13:10
Speaker 4: crowded years of old, and that kensall green of greatness,
• 13:13
Speaker 4: called the files in our news, Papa Array lashed to say,
• 13:17
Speaker 4: the office files where the dead men laid them down meekly,
• 13:20
Speaker 4: sure of long renown, and above them saran swift packs.
• 13:24
Speaker 4: The daily deepening drift of the all recording, all effacing files,
• 13:28
Speaker 4: the obliterating automatic files. Count the mighty men who slung
• 13:32
Speaker 4: ink evangels, sword or tongue when reforming you were young,
• 13:36
Speaker 4: made their boasts and spake according in the files. Here
• 13:40
Speaker 4: the ghosts that wake uplodding in the files, trace each
• 13:43
Speaker 4: all forgot career from long primer through revere onto depth,
• 13:47
Speaker 4: a pariminion in the files, parminion solid bottom of the files.
• 13:52
Speaker 4: Some successful kings and queens adorned the files. They were great,
• 13:55
Speaker 4: their views were leaded, and their deaths were triple headed.
• 13:59
Speaker 4: So they catch the eye in running through the files,
• 14:01
Speaker 4: show as blazes in the mazes of the files for
• 14:04
Speaker 4: their paramoors and priests, and their gross jack booted feasts
• 14:08
Speaker 4: and their epoch marking actions. See the files. Was it
• 14:11
Speaker 4: Bomba fled the Blue Sicilian Isles? Was it Safie a
• 14:14
Speaker 4: professor once of Oxford brought redress? Or Garibaldi who remembers
• 14:19
Speaker 4: forty odd year old septembers. Only sextants pay to dig
• 14:23
Speaker 4: among the files, such as I am born and bred.
• 14:25
Speaker 4: Among the files. You must hack through much deposit ere
• 14:29
Speaker 4: you know for sure who was it came to burial
• 14:31
Speaker 4: with such honour in the files only seven seasons back
• 14:35
Speaker 4: Beneath the files, very great are loss and grievous. So
• 14:38
Speaker 4: our best and brightest leave us, and it ends the
• 14:41
Speaker 4: age of giants. Say the files, all the sixty seventy
• 14:45
Speaker 4: eighty ninety files, the open minded opportunist files, the easy
• 14:49
Speaker 4: Oh King Live Forever files. It is good to read
• 14:52
Speaker 4: a little in the files. Tis assurre and sovereign balmb onto,
• 14:56
Speaker 4: philosophic calm yea and philosophic doubt. Whenlighten beguiles, when you
• 15:01
Speaker 4: know success is greatness, when you marvel at your lateness
• 15:05
Speaker 4: and apprehending facts so plain to smiles, self helpful, holly, strenuous,
• 15:09
Speaker 4: Samuel smiles. When your impo blind desire bids you set
• 15:13
Speaker 4: the tames a fire, You'll remember men have done so
• 15:15
Speaker 4: in the files. You'll have seen those flames transpire in
• 15:18
Speaker 4: the files more than once. The flood has run so
• 15:21
Speaker 4: in the files. When the congamerand horns of the reboantic

Speaker 4: norns ushure gentlemen and ladies with new lights on heaven

Speaker 4: inspects made by someone's breadth on ink parade by very
• 15:36
Speaker 4: earnest and tremendous, let not shows if shows offend us.
• 15:40
Speaker 4: When of everything we like, shout a static quote ubique
• 15:43
Speaker 4: quote ab omnibus means temper, Oh, my brother, keep your temper,
• 15:48
Speaker 4: Light your pipe, and take a look along the files.
• 15:51
Speaker 4: You have a better chance to guess at the meaning

Speaker 4: of success, which is greatness VDA press when you've seen

Speaker 6: The Islanders by Rudyr Kipling read for LibriVox dot Org
• 22:16
Speaker 6: by Skip Washington, d C. No doubt, but ye are
• 22:20
Speaker 6: the people. Your throne is above the kings. Whoso speaks
• 22:23
Speaker 6: in your presence must say acceptable things, bowing the head
• 22:26
Speaker 6: and worship, bending the knee, and fear bringing the word
• 22:29
Speaker 6: well smoothin', such as a king should hear. Fenced by
• 22:32
Speaker 6: your careful fathers Ringed by your lead, and seas long
• 22:35
Speaker 6: did ye waken quiet, and long lie down at ease,
• 22:38
Speaker 6: till ye said of strife, what is it of the sword?
• 22:41
Speaker 6: It is far from marken. Till ye made a sport
• 22:43
Speaker 6: of your shrunken hosts and a toy of your armed men,
• 22:46
Speaker 6: ye stopped your ears to the warning, ye would neither
• 22:49
Speaker 6: look nor heed. Ye set your leisure before their toil,
• 22:52
Speaker 6: and your luss above their need. Because of your witless learning,
• 22:55
Speaker 6: and your beasts of warren and chase, ye grudge your
• 22:57
Speaker 6: sends to their service, and your fields for their king
• 23:00
Speaker 6: camping place. Ye force them glean in the highways the
• 23:02
Speaker 6: straw for the bricks they brought. Ye forced them following
• 23:05
Speaker 6: by ways the craft that ye never taught. Ye hindered
• 23:08
Speaker 6: and hampered, and crippled. Ye thrust out aside in a way,
• 23:11
Speaker 6: those that would serve you for honor, and those that
• 23:14
Speaker 6: served you for pay. Then were the judgments loosened. Then
• 23:17
Speaker 6: was your shame revealed at the hands of a little people,
• 23:19
Speaker 6: few but apt in the field. Yet ye were saved
• 23:22
Speaker 6: by a remnant and your land's long suffering star. When
• 23:25
Speaker 6: your strong men cheered in their millions, while your striplings
• 23:28
Speaker 6: went to the war sons of the sheltered city, unmade, unhandled, unmeat.
• 23:33
Speaker 6: Ye pushed them raw to the battle, as ye pick
• 23:35
Speaker 6: them off from the street. And what did ye look
• 23:37
Speaker 6: they should compass warcraft learned in a breath, knowledge unto occasion,
• 23:41
Speaker 6: at the first far view of death. So an ye
• 23:44
Speaker 6: train your horses and the dogs ye feed in prize.
• 23:47
Speaker 6: How are the beast more worthy than the soldier's sacrifice?
• 23:50
Speaker 6: But ye said, their valors shall show them. But ye said,
• 23:53
Speaker 6: the end is close, And ye sent them comfits and
• 23:56
Speaker 6: pictures to help them harry your foes. And ye vaunted
• 23:59
Speaker 6: your fathom less power, and ye flaunted your iron pride. Heir,
• 24:03
Speaker 6: Ye fawnd on the younger nations, for the men who
• 24:05
Speaker 6: could shoot and ride. Then ye return to your trinkets.
• 24:08
Speaker 6: Then ye contented your souls with the flanneled folds at
• 24:11
Speaker 6: the wicket, or the muddied oafs at the gulls. Given
• 24:14
Speaker 6: to strong delusion, wholly believing a lie, ye saw that
• 24:17
Speaker 6: the land lay fenceless. And ye let the months go by,
• 24:20
Speaker 6: waiting some easy wonder, hoping some saving sign. Idle openly
• 24:24
Speaker 6: idle in the lee of the fore spent line idle
• 24:27
Speaker 6: except for your boasting. And what is your boasting worth
• 24:30
Speaker 6: if you grudge a year of service to the lordius?
• 24:33
Speaker 6: Life on earth ancient, effortless, ordered cycle on cycle, set
• 24:37
Speaker 6: life so long untroubled, that ye who inherit forget. It
• 24:40
Speaker 6: was not made with the mountains. It is not one
• 24:42
Speaker 6: with the deep. Men not gods devised it. Men not
• 24:46
Speaker 6: gods must keep men, not children, servants or kinsfolk called
• 24:50
Speaker 6: from afar. But each man born and the island broke
• 24:53
Speaker 6: to the matter of war soberly and by custom taken
• 24:56
Speaker 6: and trained for the same. Each man born in the
• 24:59
Speaker 6: island entered at youth to the game, as it were
• 25:02
Speaker 6: almost cricket, not to be mastered in haste, but after
• 25:05
Speaker 6: trial and labor, by temperance, living chase as it were
• 25:08
Speaker 6: almost cricket, as it were, even your play weighed and pondered,
• 25:11
Speaker 6: and worshiped, and practice day and day. So ye shall
• 25:14
Speaker 6: bide sureguarded when the restless lightnings wake in the womb
• 25:18
Speaker 6: of the blotting war cloud, and the pallid nations quake,
• 25:21
Speaker 6: so at the haggard trumpets instant, your soul shall leap
• 25:25
Speaker 6: forthright accoutered, accepting alert from the wells of sleep. So
• 25:29
Speaker 6: at the threat ye shall summon. So at the need.
• 25:31
Speaker 6: Ye shall send men, not children or servants, tempered and
• 25:35
Speaker 6: taught to the end, cleansed of servile panic, slow to
• 25:39
Speaker 6: dread or despise, humble because of knowledge mighty by sacrifice.
• 25:43
Speaker 6: But ye say it will mar our comfort. Ye say
• 25:46
Speaker 6: it will minish our trade. Do ye wait for the
• 25:49
Speaker 6: spattered shrapnel? Ere ye learn how a gun is laid
• 25:52
Speaker 6: for the low red glare to southward when the rated
• 25:54
Speaker 6: coast towns burn light. Ye shall have on that lesson,
• 25:58
Speaker 6: but little time to learn. Will ye pitch some white
• 26:00
Speaker 6: pavilion and lustily even the odds with nets and hoops
• 26:04
Speaker 6: and mallets, with rackets and bats and rods. Will the
• 26:07
Speaker 6: rabbit war with your foemen? The red deer horn them
• 26:10
Speaker 6: for hire? Your kept cock pheasant keep you. He is
• 26:12
Speaker 6: master of many a shire, arid aloof incurious unthinking. I'm
• 26:17
Speaker 6: thanking guilt. Will ye loose your schools to flout them
• 26:20
Speaker 6: till their browbie columns smelt. Will ye pray them, or
• 26:23
Speaker 6: preach them, or print them, or ballot them back from
• 26:26
Speaker 6: your shore? Will your workmen issue a mandate to bit them?
• 26:29
Speaker 6: Strike no more? Will ye rise and too thrown your rulers,
• 26:32
Speaker 6: because ye were idle, both pride by insolence, chastened indolence
• 26:37
Speaker 6: perched by sloth. No doubt, but ye are the people
• 26:40
Speaker 6: who shall make you afraid. Also. Your gods are many,
• 26:43
Speaker 6: no doubt, But your gods shall aid idols of greasy
• 26:46
Speaker 6: altars built for the body's ease, proud little brazen bales
• 26:50
Speaker 6: and talking fetishes, Tariffs of septim party and wise wood
• 26:54
Speaker 6: pavement gods. These shall come down to the battle and
• 26:57
Speaker 6: snatch you from under the rods, from the gold dusty,
• 27:00
Speaker 6: flickering gun roll with viewless salvo's rent, and the pitted
• 27:04
Speaker 6: hail of the bullets that tell not whence they were sent.
• 27:07
Speaker 6: When ye are ringed as with iron, when ye are

Speaker 6: and wise. Whatever your heart has desired, ye have not

Speaker 7: The Piece of Deeds by Rudyard Kipling read for LibriVox
• 27:48
Speaker 7: dot Org by Lari Wilson. The word came down to
• 27:54
Speaker 7: deaves and torment where he lay. Our world is full
• 27:58
Speaker 7: of wickedness by children, nime and slay, and the saint
• 28:03
Speaker 7: and sere and prophet can make no better of it
• 28:06
Speaker 7: than to sanctify and prophesy and pray. Rise up, Rise
• 28:12
Speaker 7: up thou deves, and take again thy gold and thy
• 28:16
Speaker 7: women and thy housen, as they were to thee of old.
• 28:19
Speaker 7: It may be grace hath found thee in the furnace
• 28:22
Speaker 7: where we bound thee, and that thou shalt bring my peace,
• 28:26
Speaker 7: my son foretold. They merrily rose thieves, and leaped from
• 28:30
Speaker 7: out his fire, and walked abroad with diligence to do
• 28:34
Speaker 7: the lord's desire and anon. The battle ceased, and the
• 28:38
Speaker 7: captives were released, and earth had rest from gushen to getdire.
• 28:44
Speaker 7: The word came down to Satan, that raged and roar'd
• 28:47
Speaker 7: alone mid the shouting of the peoples by the cannon overthrown.
• 28:52
Speaker 7: But the prophets, saints and seers set each other by
• 28:56
Speaker 7: the ears, for each would claim the marvel as his own.
• 29:01
Speaker 7: Rise up, Rise up thou, Satan, upon the earth, to
• 29:04
Speaker 7: go and prove the peace of deeds, if it be
• 29:08
Speaker 7: good or no. For all that he hath planned, we
• 29:11
Speaker 7: delivered to thy hand, as thy skill shall serve to
• 29:15
Speaker 7: break it or bring it low. Then mightily rose Satan,
• 29:20
Speaker 7: and about the earth he hide and breathed on kings
• 29:23
Speaker 7: in idleness and princes drunk with pride. But for all
• 29:28
Speaker 7: the wrong he breathed, there was never sword unsheathed, and
• 29:32
Speaker 7: the fires he lighted flickered out and died. Then terribly
• 29:37
Speaker 7: rose Satan, and he darkened earth afar till he came
• 29:41
Speaker 7: on cunning deaves where the money changers are, and he
• 29:45
Speaker 7: saw men pledge their gear for the gold that buys
• 29:48
Speaker 7: the spear and the helmet and the harborgen of war.
• 29:52
Speaker 7: Yea to deaves came the Persian and the Syrian and
• 29:55
Speaker 7: the Mead, and their hearts were nothing altered, nor their
• 29:59
Speaker 7: cunning nor their greed. And they pledged their flocks and
• 30:02
Speaker 7: farms for the king, compelling arms, and thieves lent according
• 30:07
Speaker 7: to their need. Then Satan said to thieves, return again
• 30:12
Speaker 7: with me, who has broken his commandment in the day
• 30:15
Speaker 7: he set thee free, who grindest for thy greed man's
• 30:20
Speaker 7: belly pinch and need and the blood of man to
• 30:23
Speaker 7: fill the usury. Then softly answered, dies, where the money
• 30:28
Speaker 7: changers set? My refuge is our master, O, my master
• 30:33
Speaker 7: in the pit. But behold, all earth is laid in
• 30:37
Speaker 7: the peace which I have made, And behold I wait
• 30:40
Speaker 7: on thee to trouble it. Then angrily turned Satan, and
• 30:45
Speaker 7: about the seas he fled to shake the new sown
• 30:48
Speaker 7: peoples with insult, doubt, and dread. But for all the
• 30:53
Speaker 7: slight he used, there was never squadron loosed, and the
• 30:57
Speaker 7: brands he flung flew dye and ill dead. Yet to
• 31:02
Speaker 7: Deves came Atlantis and the captains of the West, and
• 31:06
Speaker 7: their hates were nothing weakened, nor their anger nor unrest.
• 31:09
Speaker 7: And they pawned their utmost trade for the dry decreame blade,
• 31:15
Speaker 7: and these slent and took of them their best. Then
• 31:19
Speaker 7: Satan said to Deves, declare thou by thy name the
• 31:24
Speaker 7: secret of thy subtlety that turneth mine to shame. It
• 31:30
Speaker 7: is known through all the hells how my peoples mocked
• 31:33
Speaker 7: my spells and my faithless kings denied me. Ere I came,
• 31:40
Speaker 7: then answered, cunning deeves, do not gold and hate abide
• 31:45
Speaker 7: at the heart of every magic yea and senseless fear
• 31:48
Speaker 7: beside with gold and fear and hate. I have harnessed
• 31:53
Speaker 7: state to state, and with hate and fear and gold,
• 31:57
Speaker 7: their hates are tied. For hate men seek a weapon
• 32:01
Speaker 7: for fear. They seek a shield, keener blades and broader
• 32:05
Speaker 7: targes than their frantic neighbors wield. For gold, I arm
• 32:10
Speaker 7: their hands, and for gold I buy their lands, And
• 32:14
Speaker 7: for gold I sell their enemies. The yield their nearest

Speaker 7: and the nations break their fast upon these things. So

Speaker 8: our South Africa, Africa all over. Half her land was
