Transcript
- 1:06Well, shit. Off to a flying start today.
- 1:11What's up, everybody? It's Kefi and you're watching
- 1:13another ghostcalledman.com weekly ritual.
- 1:17This is our weekly rocket metal news show, usually everywhere on
- 1:20the web and having some technical difficulties right out
- 1:25of the gate. Unreal.
- 1:28Oh, Wiley music is here. Incredible.
- 1:30Me. This is there.
- 1:31Jim is here. What's up, Slayers?
- 1:33Wine, the cat, Priscilla, we are everywhere on the web.
- 1:37Finally back on Instagram. It's been a minute since we were
- 1:40able to get that to go. I'm not sure what the shit is
- 1:43going on today. Hopefully everybody can hear me
- 1:45out there with all the technical boobery, but I'm doing my best,
- 1:50you know, I'm doing what I can with what I've got.
- 1:53And that's all we have ever been about here at Coast Codes.
- 1:58Seems like a Wi-Fi issue for some of my stuff, but if you can
- 2:02hear me, give me a comment and let me know.
- 2:04Otherwise I'll assume I'm good. Almost the end of the week,
- 2:09Almost the end of June somehow Seems kind of fucking crazy.
- 2:15Jerry is here. The sick of the talk.
- 2:23I'll try to include everybody as I can.
- 2:27What a day. It's been a time, it's been a
- 2:31time, it's been a time. So what do we do here?
- 2:35We bring you all the rock and metal news.
- 2:36That's what we do. That's why we do what we do.
- 2:39I've been experimenting a little bit with my setup here, so
- 2:43hopefully it's still all good. I still have tiny Dio here
- 2:46keeping me company. Look out, look out.
- 2:50Love me some Dio. I don't love me some fun.
- 2:52Those uncle pops for the win. Drumsteading is also here.
- 2:58Good to see you. This is actually the regular
- 3:00time we're on actual some kind of a schedule this week.
- 3:06I'm going to experiment with something else.
- 3:08Today I'm going to change, maybe change the layout.
- 3:14Let's see. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
- 3:20boom, boom, boom BDS. I don't like any of those.
- 3:25And let's see, maybe I'll put it in this corner here for a
- 3:29change. I do like things on the on the
- 3:32left of me and let's move the layer back and so insert a
- 3:41thing. Boom.
- 3:43Did it work? It did not work.
- 3:47I'm just clicking around and it's not hey there, I am.
- 3:51All right, it's me. It's me here instead of here.
- 3:55Oh, technology is a wonderful thing and I'm pointing.
- 3:58Your mother always said don't point, but I never listened.
- 4:01It's in a very good boy. Unfortunately, Brian's here.
- 4:06Guillermo is here. Glad to see you all.
- 4:10Another another week in the world of metal.
- 4:13I'm going to have a liquid death and joy.
- 4:14I don't know if any of you remember that we had prepped it
- 4:18to prepare to show today. I don't know if it's going to
- 4:20work, but when we were early affiliate partners and adopters
- 4:27of Liquid Death drone, let's go, LFG, let's go.
- 4:33We were early partners of Liquid death.
- 4:35So I don't know if this is going to work or not, but everybody
- 4:38except on TikTok. Let's see if this works real
- 4:41quick. If not, I'll try it next week
- 4:44and Nope, not working. All right, Boo Boo, this man
- 4:51drinking the same liquid death as we speak 'cause you love
- 4:53their copywriter. Me too.
- 4:54I love their marketing. They did a brilliant thing this
- 4:58week with Ozzy. We'll talk about that in a
- 4:59little bit. They're not making these
- 5:01anymore. They're not making the Tall Boys
- 5:02anymore, and they're not making the.
- 5:04I do not like the stevia. I like the agave nectar.
- 5:07So I'm buying up as many of these as possible, and then when
- 5:10they run out, I will just drink the regular spring water or the
- 5:13sparkling plain 'cause I don't like the stevia flavors already.
- 5:21All right, Melanie's also here. Let's get on with the the the
- 5:26dispense with the pleasantries. Yep.
- 5:30Oh, I don't know what's going on here.
- 5:32OK, I guess I have to abandon it.
- 5:37I thought it was working. Let's see if it is this.
- 5:40Nope. Now I'm blocked.
- 5:42Let's see if I can move this guy.
- 5:47Not going to let me. I'd like to wear ones.
- 5:52There it goes. It's going to let me do that.
- 5:54All right, cool. Hey, just a reminder, as much as
- 6:01coast code man.com, which is our website 24/7 365 metal news,

- 7:15year and be cold this year. I am good to see you.
- 7:18Thanks for being here. Appreciate you And Shasty
- 7:21Mcnasty is here. What's up?
- 7:22I love that name. And then finally, I don't know
- 7:25if you know, this has worked in the music business a long time.
- 7:27I'm a social media marketing expert.
- 7:28I've also been a band dude forever.
- 7:30And I just recently got a new band after a very long stretch
- 7:34of not having a band. So we do music business
- 7:36consulting calls, whether it's your marketing plan, your
- 7:38release plan, social media, whatever.

- 7:44discuss, but feel free to help us out.
- 7:46And then we can take tips usually in the usual places
- 7:49again through the apps, but also Cash App, Kofi, PayPal, MO,
- 7:54whatever you want to do, anything is appreciated.
- 7:57Thanks. We are, we are.
- 8:00You're not sucking metal sucks. We are.
- 8:01You're not corporate metal injection or bladder mouth or
- 8:06others. So any who on with that, there's
- 8:09our cash app if you want to freeze the screen, pause and
- 8:11check this out. And oh, drones, Jerome has been
- 8:17in music marketing and management for 15 years.
- 8:19Knew I liked you. Nice one, nice one.
- 8:21Appreciate that. Feel free to get in the DMS
- 8:23Happy Juneteenth. If you don't know what
- 8:25Juneteenth is, look it up. It's an important day in
- 8:27American history kind of gets glossed over.
- 8:31It's pretty important. And as we've been doing for this
- 8:33is Pride month, we've been focusing on a pride centric and
- 8:39relevant artist. And last week we did Otep.
- 8:42And today we're going to talk a little bit about Neck of Kings
- 8:45X. I mean, this is a picture from
- 8:47back in 1994. Kings X is one of my favorite
- 8:49bands ever. I've been very fortunate to meet
- 8:51and interview the band I love, Doug.
- 8:54Doug was in the closet for a long time, finally came out.
- 8:59He was a Christian rock artist. He actually had a very long
- 9:02career in music besides King X and outside of Kings X, as well
- 9:06as the other guys in the band. And I think Doug is particularly
- 9:09brave. He made very sensitive and
- 9:13soulful deep, important rock music and metal music.
- 9:16They definitely, you know, were the pre Alice In Chains with a
- 9:21very similar sound, dark but melodic.
- 9:24And obviously nobody is lame. But Doug is a wonderful singer,
- 9:28an incredible bassist and songwriter.
- 9:30And I'm a huge fan of the band. And and again, Doug is very
- 9:34well, very comfortable. Now, talking about the balance
- 9:37of his sexuality versus his spirituality and his life is a
- 9:40fascinating dude. You can check out any of our
- 9:42content with Doug. And we always, you know, we do
- 9:46this because again, you shouldn't have to, but we have
- 9:50to. So that's why we highlighted
- 9:51these things. Next week, we'll have a final
- 9:53private artist. And again, look up your
- 9:55Juneteenth, all of you, if you don't know what it is.
- 10:00Celebrating a birthday this week was King Diamond.
- 10:02This is a great Photoshop from when we covered King Diamond
- 10:05last year. Late in the year, this is a shot
- 10:08by our friend Jamie Sherwood. Then King kicks ass.
- 10:11Yeah, I know we're getting new King Diamond and new Merciful
- 10:14Fate music in the next few years.
- 10:16So if you're an old school metalhead, you got to absolutely
- 10:20love that drone. Steady.
- 10:21Funny that you mentioned that. The metal community, it is more
- 10:24accepting, but there's definitely been times when it
- 10:26wasn't. I've had personal experiences
- 10:30when it wasn't. I have a really cool interview
- 10:32coming up. We're going to talk about later
- 10:34in the show where we highlight sort of fiefdoms and communities
- 10:39and gatekeeping and stuff like that, but a little bit more on
- 10:42that later on. Also, I have this story in here
- 10:46twice. But yeah, Wayne Wozniak or
- 10:48Hatebreed, they haven't announced the GoFundMe friend
- 10:50yet, but in case you didn't know, Gabe is here.
- 10:52What's up? Gabe, good to see you.
- 10:54I will kill off the banner for ghostcallmeg.com.
- 10:57Jump in the comments, Gabe. Thanks again.
- 10:59Seems like every week I, I owe you a message back, but I'll get
- 11:03you a little later on today. I have this in here twice.
- 11:07I just realized. But yeah, Wayne was diagnosed
- 11:09this week with a benign operable brain tumor.
- 11:13He's off the road for the time being while he's getting an
- 11:15emergency surgery. I had a little bit of personal
- 11:18experience with this. It's called the meningioma.
- 11:20It's when you get a tumor between the brain and the skull,
- 11:24which can cause all kinds of neurological and life
- 11:26threatening problems. Sometimes if the tumor is
- 11:30cancerous, it's it's a very difficult process to survive.
- 11:34But if it's they're more than not benign and sometimes
- 11:38operable and sometimes they can do also radiation, like a very
- 11:42specific type of radiation. It doesn't hurt the brain and
- 11:45the rest of the internal organs and and stuff that you need to
- 11:48live. So Wayne is going to make it.
- 11:49The prognosis is very good. He's getting surgery.
- 11:52And in the meantime, they had band has done a little hate
- 11:55Breed has done a little band Kung Fu to cover for him while
- 11:58they're on the road in Europe the rest of the summer and
- 12:00they're back in America on the summer slaughter tour very soon.
- 12:04So we hope Wayne gets well soon. Hate Breed's a band I've been a
- 12:07fan of and following for a very long time.
- 12:10Also this week, man, this is there's some tough ones this
- 12:14week Chuck Chuck Profis it was the drummer of Agent steel and
- 12:18obscene gesture passed away. This press release went out from
- 12:22our friends at adrenaline PR and hey El Dumaro Uno is here.
- 12:27Good to see you and unknown abandoned reactor is here.
- 12:30Good to see you too. Thank you so much Trump steady
- 12:33appreciate all the love me and Chuck Profis Agent Steele one of
- 12:36the best Hard Rock heavy metal bands ever historically old
- 12:39school and said that Chuck passed away.
- 12:42We're losing all our heroes. 61 way too young to be gone.
- 12:46And then this was a real tough one.
- 12:48I don't know if you guys are folks of Lilo and Stitch, but
- 12:54the actor who played in he was like actually the the character
- 13:02bassist for one of the main characters.
- 13:04It's a David the Killy Lumiu Bell.
- 13:08I hope I said that correctly. He passed it 57 Very sad.
- 13:12So just tough, just tough, just tough.
- 13:15And the whole world is going crazy.
- 13:17So I hope everybody's going to be OK.
- 13:18Speaking of crazy, this would be enough to make you crazy.
- 13:21Amigo the Devil. People who followed us for a
- 13:23long time know that we have supported Amigo the Devil.
- 13:28His real name is Danny Carano. So I've interviewed him a bunch
- 13:31of times in person and, you know, you know, over Zoom and
- 13:35stuff like that. Great artist.
- 13:37I've been a huge fan for almost 15 years of Danny.
- 13:40And he had a terrible house fire this week where he lost
- 13:43everything he owned except a few things.
- 13:45And then his partner were burned out of their home.
- 13:47I think he lost his pet as well was his roommate's dog that
- 13:51lived with them. And there's a GoFundMe and the
- 13:53GoFundMe raised enough money to to replace things.
- 13:57But like, you can't ever get back.
- 13:59You're recovering from a house fire is so painful and tough.
- 14:02I think we have some photos here of his burned house.
- 14:05I mean, this is horrifying, just absolutely horrifying, and we're
- 14:09deeply sorry to hear this. So even though they've met their
- 14:11goal, if you want to donate or stream Amigo the Devil's Musical
- 14:15by submerge. If you ever thought about it,
- 14:17now is a good time. Now's a good time.
- 14:20Thanks so much. So continuing on just for some
- 14:26fundies because you need to lighten the mood after we have
- 14:29some heavy stuff. We're trying to get our favorite
- 14:31dog in San Francisco, Django Sainthood from the Sisters of
- 14:35Perpetual Indulgence. Django's metalhead.
- 14:37He's a booster and supporter of the community.
- 14:39Here's a picture of Django with Nick or Butcher.
- 14:41They were on their way to kill Uranimus too, but they should
- 14:44have killed Barn anyway. We don't ask for money.
- 14:46We're just asking for signatures on the Change.org petition.
- 14:50Django rules not upset, and now it's time for some features.
- 14:55Let's do some features here at ghost cult, and this is usually
- 14:58our big things of the week or big interviews and such once
- 15:03again, in case you caught our live stream last week, we did
- 15:08the the worst deaths in rock and metal and maybe a few outside of
- 15:11heavy music. But check that out when you're
- 15:14done watching this video or listening to this podcast on the
- 15:17replay. And certainly check out our live
- 15:21stream conversation because it was very conversational, which I
- 15:24like the most with fans. And I'm always greatly
- 15:27appreciative when people, you know, people chime in.
- 15:33And again, if you've got a worst one you ever suffered, check it
- 15:37out. You know, yeah, Gabe, you would
- 15:41particularly like Amigo. The devil is like, you know,
- 15:44it's it's under the genre of dark folk or murder folk, but
- 15:47it's basically like singer-songwriter stuff about
- 15:51like could be death metal if it wasn't set to banjos and
- 15:55acoustic guitars and bands. Just very dark, but human
- 16:00realism, pretty realism. So pretty great.
- 16:03But yeah, time bag was up there at the top for me.
- 16:05Let me know who your worst death you experienced of a rock and
- 16:08metal musician. And also this week we ran our
- 16:11new interview with King Parrot. I was plugging this last week,
- 16:14Yogi from King Parrot, Matt Young new album out now, Young
- 16:18person's guide to King Parrot. They're going to be on tour all
- 16:21year long with this new album, brutal great crime court death
- 16:24metal adjacent album. They're opening for Pantera and
- 16:28a Monomark this summer, and I've been following this ban
- 16:32basically the entire history of ghost cult.
- 16:35And it was a really great conversation.
- 16:38And really, you know, it's a very long flight, but I wouldn't
- 16:41mind getting out there and getting out there and going to
- 16:47Australia someday. But it's a very long flight, all
- 16:52right. Also, I interviewed Ben
- 16:54Flanagan, a Black Map band, another band I've been a fan of
- 16:58for a long time. Their new album Hex is out now
- 17:00on Spine Farm Records, and Ben and I caught up and talked about
- 17:03the process of the band and his move from San Francisco to the
- 17:09burbs. Interestingly enough, Dillinger
- 17:11Compound has arrived now. We've got some everydayers in
- 17:14the chats and on YouTube and on the Gram and all the things.
- 17:19So thanks for being here. Thanks Dillinger.
- 17:21You haven't missed too much just talking about Migo, The Devil's
- 17:25House Fire and some of our big feature interviews this week
- 17:27like King Parrot and Black. Also case you missed it, Dry
- 17:34Kill Logics. Cliff Organo sat down with my
- 17:37partner Omar to talk all about the new Dry Kill Logic singles
- 17:40and playing festivals and their comeback of that band.
- 17:43They just played in New York City.
- 17:47So I think everybody was in attendance at that show except
- 17:49me, because I don't live there anymore.
- 17:52And in case you missed it, we've got a bunch of interviews here
- 17:55on the channel. We interviewed.
- 17:57Yeah, man, I want to interview Squid Pisser so bad.
- 18:00I think we actually will get that interview soon.
- 18:02We just, we helped promote their new single and I'm a big fan of
- 18:07that label. They're all skin graft records.
- 18:11Also, recent interviews I've done include Sacrifice and Eric
- 18:16from Shinedown and a whole bunch of other big bands.
- 18:18And then just a reminder, this is a podcast only, but this is
- 18:21Ava. Maybe she's the daughter of Chad
- 18:23Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and also a former
- 18:26American Idol contestant 3-4 years back.
- 18:29And she's been releasing maybe 5-6 years back, but she's been
- 18:32releasing solo singles and now has a new EP out Orange Strive.
- 18:37And I got to interview her when I covered Bottle Rock recently.
- 18:40And there was a really cool thing that I put up on on all
- 18:43our channels. So if you followed us, you saw
- 18:45that basically I watched her show from from the festival.
- 18:49She was the first artist on the Saturday of the three day
- 18:51festival. And I stood next to two super
- 18:53fans and they had a friendship bracelet for her and she didn't
- 18:57like see them to get to get it from them.
- 19:00So I said, hey, listen, I'm going to interview Ava in an
- 19:04hour. Can I give her this bracelet for
- 19:06you? And then I'll send you a message
- 19:08when she has it. So I told this to Ava.
- 19:10I gave her the bracelet. She's like, Oh my God, let's
- 19:12make a video to send them. So I did that first and then I
- 19:16didn't share it right away. I honestly ran our interview
- 19:19with Ava and I wanted to make sure that the fans were OK with
- 19:22it and that they also had seen it first and shared it
- 19:25themselves first. Then I shared it this week.
- 19:27I thought it was a good like just if I can help a fan connect
- 19:32with an artist like that and give a gift or something like I
- 19:34can't always swear if you see me at a show, hey, you're going to
- 19:36be able to get backstage and give this thing for to corpse
- 19:39grinder. Probably not.
- 19:41But just this particular instance I was able to help and
- 19:45it felt really good. It felt really good.
- 19:47And we've been DM ING the fans and I and they were so thankful
- 19:50and appreciative and Ava was lovely.
- 19:52Her mom and her whole team were there and her mom is her manager
- 19:56and you know, she's a for a person that grew up in music and
- 20:02and has, you know, DIY, no record label, her own team of
- 20:07people not using her dad's fame to get her name out there.
- 20:12Super cool singer-songwriter, maybe not like heavy, but
- 20:15definitely rock and pop and even a little R&B soul influence.
- 20:19I'd really dig her kind of like Amy Winehouse or Adele or Nelly
- 20:23Furtado or somebody like that. Super fun.
- 20:25And I'm really rooting for her and I hope to talk to her again
- 20:28sometime. So I wanted to share that story.
- 20:30I think that's kind of why I do what I do.
- 20:32I've been that fan. Just a reminder, we have a
- 20:35podcast. This show will be a podcast, a
- 20:37ghost cult magazine podcast where if you listen to podcast,
- 20:39maybe you caught our kind of impromptu live stream last
- 20:43night, similar to tonight with some technical problems, but we
- 20:48did a live stream collab with glacially musical podcast.
- 20:51You know that I'm a Co host there along with Don de Lamont,
- 20:54the Hostess, Nick Cameron, and we are in the middle of a new
- 20:58series on Beastie Boys. I know that our tagline is
- 21:00rocket and metal and swearing and beer and all these things,
- 21:03but we decided to do our first hip hop full series.
- 21:06We've done a couple of albums here and there and we're doing
- 21:10Beastie Boys and we did, you know, we did the, you know,
- 21:16license to I'll arguably one of the most, you know, huge and
- 21:19important, huge and important albums of all time, but also
- 21:24really interesting. And so we did a live stream.
- 21:27We almost always broadcast over glacially musicals channels, but
- 21:31we did that here as a collab. Don't know if you saw it.
- 21:33Go back and check it out. I'm on there every week.
- 21:36We're talking about vinyl and how to care for vinyl and vinyl
- 21:39buying and and care for your turntables and sound systems.
- 21:43But also we deep dive bands. So we will go back to the metal
- 21:48after we'll go back to the metal right after we're done with
- 21:53Beastie Boys, but we're doing a very long series on Beastie
- 21:55Boys. So if you like that checking out
- 21:57Sun don't shine is here. I was going to talk all about
- 21:59you all just in a little while. Good to see you, Sun don't
- 22:01shine. So again, that's that's all our
- 22:04things. And now it's time for the news.
- 22:06And as you know, every week we start the news metal festivals
- 22:09and have another sip of my drink and do the thing refreshing.
- 22:18So metal festivals work toward. Just played in DC last weekend.
- 22:24Don't know if you're interested. Don't know if you caught it.
- 22:26Apparently it was hugely successful and right after the
- 22:29weekend they announced 2026, probably to repeat in the same
- 22:35cities. Maybe they're going to add some
- 22:36new cities. So the DC area show will be at
- 22:39RFK Stadium bigger than this year.
- 22:41So they're already, you know, considered a success.
- 22:45Pre sale tickets for just the DC date for next year's Warped Tour
- 22:49go on sale tomorrow, or as you know, as you're watching this
- 22:52Friday, it's Thursday today as I'm recording this.
- 22:55And I, I expect at least a few more cities plus the other
- 22:58cities to do just as well. And from what I understand, the
- 23:02experiment went well. I hope to interview Kevin Lyman
- 23:05someday. I think it'd be really
- 23:06interesting. And again, we have the posters
- 23:09here for the upcoming 2 here. I'll just blow this up on the
- 23:12screen. You don't have to see my face
- 23:13that much. But yeah, Warp Tour, I expect
- 23:15they're going to add new artists.
- 23:16We have the next one coming up in Long Beach at the end of
- 23:18July. Gonna be hot down there as well
- 23:21as November for Orlando. Liquid Death for life Bikini.
- 23:27I wish I've said again yesterday, Dillinger, we were
- 23:31talking about Liquid Death and I tried to show my commercial.
- 23:34If you don't know, on our YouTube, there's a commercial.
- 23:37I'll link it in the description. We shot a 15 second commercial
- 23:41for Liquid Death with me dumping a liquid death all over myself.
- 23:44It was pretty rad. Shout out to my partner Omar for
- 23:47his incredible editing and ideas, idea, factory skills and
- 23:53we were a very early. We made money from them.
- 23:56They sent us cases and cases of liquid death water and sparkling
- 23:59water shirts that I still wear. I have a liquid Death chainsaw
- 24:04hat here somewhere. So, you know, so much, man.
- 24:08So much. I'm a big fan.
- 24:09Yeah, man. I think New Jersey would be an
- 24:11ideal place to have Warped or as well as Texas, despite the
- 24:15weather and issues. And also Chicago is a natural,
- 24:17even though they already have a bunch of punk festivals.
- 24:20So. Yeah, Yeah.
- 24:22Good stuff here. Well, man, again, I want to just
- 24:24thank everybody that's just hanging in on the tick of the
- 24:27top and watching. And thanks so much.
- 24:30Moving on. Warp torn Jersey, right?
- 24:34Oh, for sure. I saw Warp Torn Jersey,
- 24:36Randall's Island and Boston, And it's funny, I go to metal
- 24:41festivals and rock festivals and I interview bands.
- 24:44And then they remember having met me at Warp Tour when I
- 24:46didn't have this beard and I was maybe thinner or fatter.
- 24:50I don't remember. We just had Download Festival.
- 24:52Talk about that. A second Hell Fest is this
- 24:54weekend. What a lineup.
- 24:55Corn Muse, Scorpions, Linkin Park, Judas Priest, so many
- 25:01killer vans, Exodus continuing the European Tour with Rob Nukes
- 25:06back in the band. Good stuff there.
- 25:07Health Fest always a banger of the time.
- 25:09Once again this weekend starting tonight is the final Maryland
- 25:12Dune Fest. Bummed about this but super
- 25:14stoked for the bands playing. Thank you for everything you
- 25:17have done. Maryland dune fest.
- 25:20Also punk rock bowling just ended over Memorial Day weekend.
- 25:25I did not come up for loud and heavy.
- 25:27That's a shame that I didn't. I wish I had Frank Longoria is
- 25:30here. What's up Frank?
- 25:32So we just covered punk rock bowling.
- 25:33You can read the full review and see a bunch of great photos of
- 25:36classic and new punk bands on our site.
- 25:38And they have their dates announced for next year.
- 25:41Early bird tickets soon. So always a big fan.
- 25:44This is a great shot of some aerial footage of of artist
- 25:48jumping off a drum riser. As I said, download was just
- 25:51this weekend with Korn's Sleep Token and Green Day Sleep
- 25:54Tokens. First ever festival headline
- 25:56gig. Expect more of those next year
- 25:59supporting their new album and downloads.
- 26:01Early bird tickets are on sale now.
- 26:03We don't know who's playing, but they already have early bird
- 26:06sales on them. There's a lot of festivals do
- 26:08this release festivals, this series of concerts, sort of a
- 26:11festival in pieces, a few bands at a time.
- 26:17So oh Dillinger, I'll I'll fill that in for you in a second.
- 26:21So we we won't be covering every single artist here, but there
- 26:25are a lot of great artists here and we just covered Avenged
- 26:29Sevenfold and Pelaye Royale. So that's on our site.
- 26:32Also upcoming shows include Fontaine's DC Dream Theater,
- 26:38Super Grass, Mastodon, While She Sleeps, Boy, Harsher, The
- 26:42Damned, Lacuna, Coil, Hawkin, Bob Villain and much more.
- 26:47And that's all in Athens, Greece, various venues.
- 26:51So the Hellfest in New Jersey, that is a thing.
- 26:54Hellfest used to be. So there's Hellfest France,
- 26:57which is the longest running metal fest of metal and rock
- 27:01festival in France and happens just outside of Paris in
- 27:05Quisson. Piercing metal is here on the
- 27:07Gram. What's up?
- 27:08Piercing metal? Good to see you.
- 27:09Not Bob Dylan, but Bob Dylan. I wish Bob Dylan, but Bob Dylan,
- 27:15the great Parkour Pump band. So Hellfest used to be a
- 27:21hardcore and straight edge festival in upstate New York,
- 27:25closer to Syracuse and was very closely associated with like the
- 27:29Earth Crisis Band dudes and bands like that.
- 27:32And so that Hellfest is a thing and there's kind of a one day
- 27:36Hellfest punk hardcore festival, sort of a big show matinee, but
- 27:41not a full on festival. Would they bring that festival
- 27:45back in America? Would be interesting.
- 27:47Does Hellfest own the trademark on the words Hellfest?
- 27:50Probably and probably difficult for them, but I would be rooting
- 27:55for equal status for both if it was up to me.
- 27:58Fire in the Mountains is coming up in late July, headlined by
- 28:00Ward, Druna and Old Man's Child with their very first American
- 28:04appearance I think ever. Chelsea, Wolf, Converge, Blood
- 28:09Incantation, Steve until Sonia, and many more.
- 28:12That looks super exciting. Desi Anthony is here and Nation
- 28:17Festival's added a bunch of new artists.
- 28:18We cover this every year in the UK.
- 28:20This will take place this year in Manchester.
- 28:23Corrosion, Conformity and Napalm Death are the Co headliners.
- 28:26I believe the Coc show is the European exclusive for this
- 28:30year. Also appearing Perturbator,
- 28:33Death, Heaven, Amanra, Orbit, Culture, High On Fire, The
- 28:36Haunted Pig Destroyer, Anil Nakhra.
- 28:39We're broken up. We're not broken up, we're back
- 28:41again. Good morning, not the warning,
- 28:43but warning onslaught, Veget dude, worm, rock era, stamping
- 28:48ground, author and Punisher, hell Ripper, Mesa mantar,
- 28:51conjurer and more. What a great festival.
- 28:54Hopefully can we continue to get to support them and go back
- 28:57again? Drone, thanks for passing by.
- 29:00Super super appreciative. Feel free to DM us.
- 29:03Gathering of the Jungle Post is happening this summer and Gore
- 29:07is one of the headliners. How fitting.
- 29:08Gore should be down with the jellos.
- 29:10Whoop whoop if you. Now I'm not super into ICP and
- 29:13their related bands, but conflicts Dillinger.
- 29:21I was convinced that the Dillinger escape him in a
- 29:24headline damnation festival. Yeah, I think they're just not
- 29:27quite big enough a name in Europe, but maybe that'll
- 29:31change. I could see them being one of
- 29:33the headliners of Roadburn. I could see them being one of
- 29:36the headliners of Damnation. Prepare The Ground is a place I
- 29:40think, you know, they should play.
- 29:43It'd be very interesting to see. There's a lot of, and of course,
- 29:45you know, Maryland Death Fest and things like that.
- 29:49Lots of lots of reasons they can be here.
- 29:51Fairy Ring is back. Harry doesn't mind his back
- 29:55bells ringing this year. Hello, Hello, hello, hello.
- 30:02This looks amazing. Actually.
- 30:03Big Island Metal Bash 2 in Hawaii is taking place this
- 30:07fall. This looks kind of sick.
- 30:09There's a bunch of illegible logos and bands, but I see
- 30:13Pessimist and Merciful on there. Incarceration Fest is coming up
- 30:17this summer with Slipknot. This takes place in the prison
- 30:22that Shawshank Redemption was filmed in, and they have.
- 30:25It's also a tattoo convention headlined by Paul Booth who I
- 30:29would love to get tattooed by someday.
- 30:33We are three weeks away from this is either going to be one
- 30:36of the most awesome things ever or a total disaster.
- 30:39This is the back to the beginning final show.
- 30:41I know Sharon tried to stir up some shit last week, Sharon
- 30:44Osbourne about some band being kicked off.
- 30:46We still don't know who it is. Makes me think it's a bullshit
- 30:48story. But this is going to get live
- 30:51streamed everywhere and the show itself is for charity which is
- 30:54nice. Ozzie and Blacks have its
- 30:56farewell and final show. We will see how it will be stay
- 30:59tuned probably for some ghost code content right after that in
- 31:02the form of reviews also also and Hinge Fest is coming up in
- 31:07Denver, Knock loose and Lamb of God Co headline Dillinger is the
- 31:10second headliner there on the first day, so that's pretty
- 31:12good. Also Desert Fest has announced
- 31:15as they always do a bunch of different festivals.
- 31:17Antwerp in Belgium, graveyard, orange Goblin, yob bomb Ripper,
- 31:23acid king from right here in the Bay Area, Massage reality, new
- 31:26album out now. Isuzu and many more.
- 31:29This looks rad. Also also coming up in LA.
- 31:33These tickets are on sale now. Punk in the Park, Los Angeles,
- 31:36taking place down in San Pedro where the final no effects show
- 31:41took place last year. Della Mort Sky is here.
- 31:45Hello. Thanks, Cage.
- 31:48Thanks Auntie Mosby. Also on all the things.
- 31:52And that was all the festivals. We'll do a more deep time next
- 31:55week on some more things. Metallica, just Metallica
- 32:00reminder, they're here in the Bay Area this week and I am not
- 32:03going with other plans, but Metallica hits Santa Clara with
- 32:07the 49ers play. Sure.
- 32:10What's going on there? Garbage truck.
- 32:13Anyway, Metallica's on tour. They continue to do all the
- 32:16things. Their tickets for next year are
- 32:17on sale now. And I just kind of wanted to
- 32:19remind everybody that this was the 15th anniversary of the very
- 32:24first big BIG4 show. So Cynosphere in Poland had the
- 32:30very first Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, all on the
- 32:33same day, all at the same in a row.
- 32:36And that led us to the Bulgaria Home DVD.
- 32:40And of course, the two Big Four concerts in both Yankee Stadium
- 32:44that I attended in 2011, as well as Indio CA.
- 32:49So those would be 15 years old next year.
- 32:52I would love to see more of these.
- 32:54We're we're running out of time here with Slayer back that
- 32:57Anthrax new albums coming, maybe a new Metallica album coming.
- 33:00Now is the time Lars, now is the time.
- 33:03Let's do another BIG4 festival or tour aids or something.
- 33:07Let's do it bro. And you can put a bunch of other
- 33:09little bands on after or smaller.
- 33:11Not little. 9 Inch Nails kicked off their Peel It Back world
- 33:16tour, their first tour in a few years.
- 33:18I got to be honest with you, I did some spying on the setlist.
- 33:21The setlist are unbelievable deep cunts.
- 33:23More recent stuff, unusual collabs.
- 33:27Like very very cool. I am highly looking forward to
- 33:30going to see the band in August here in the Bay Area.
- 33:33Thanks to my awesome girlfriend getting us tickets.
- 33:37She rules. I'm super happy she's the best.
- 33:41I'm not just saying that because I know she's watching, but she's
- 33:44the best. Caballera, Max and Igor have
- 33:49announced they will play all of KSAD on a full U.S. tour this
- 33:53fall. That also includes Louder Than
- 33:56Life and Aftershock Festival, which I expect to be an
- 33:59Aftershock. Fear Factory will be opening
- 34:02every show. Unsure if there will be other
- 34:04openers or no other openers but I am super excited about that
- 34:11and I'll be going and we'll be covering it.
- 34:16B50 twos in Devo, not always a topic of stuff we talk about
- 34:20Here it goes called but I've Seen Devo live three years ago
- 34:23was supposed to be their farewell tour.
- 34:25B50 Twos have already reunited and were supposedly on a
- 34:28farewell tour, but the two bands will team up for a short
- 34:31headline tour starting in Toronto at the end of September
- 34:35and running through early November in Houston, TX.
- 34:38Not that many cities, but pretty damn bad ass.
- 34:42I would love to see this show. I wonder if they will flip flop
- 34:45the headline spots or I know Devo has like a lot of
- 34:48production so I wonder if they will close some of the dates
- 34:51because it's just easier for them.
- 34:53Just easier for them to do it that way.
- 34:55Trivium has announced the big headline tour and they're not
- 34:58having any more touring with Bullet for My Valentine.
- 35:01I knew they were going to immediately announce a tour for
- 35:04the fall. Trivium, Ginger and Harriot.
- 35:06Harriot is a killer band from the UK if you're not familiar
- 35:09with them. Unbelievable bands.
- 35:10Great 123 and this actually starts in Myrtle Beach.
- 35:14They they don't get a lot of shows in Myrtle Beach or
- 35:15Virginia Beach, but those are the first two dates.
- 35:19Also also Revocation, in addition to announcing a new
- 35:22album this week have announced a huge, huge tour of the US.
- 35:26So I'm extremely excited about this acid bath.
- 35:30They continue to roll on with their shows.
- 35:32They play the Bay Area this last weekend to this weekend.
- 35:37They will be playing in Seattle with High On Fire, YAB and Witch
- 35:41Mountain. Probably the best 1234 of any of
- 35:44these acid bath shows and I'm still hoping to see them either
- 35:48at Aftershock or maybe one of their other shows.
- 35:51But let's see. It would have been nice to get
- 35:54away to go do this one, but kind of out of reach.
- 35:56Turnstile, who we just had a live review of, continues to do
- 36:01their European Tour followed by their upcoming U.S. tour.
- 36:04So you can check out some Turnstile coverage, write ups
- 36:07and photos, and our site right now.
- 36:10Friends to the show Ice Giant are going on a brief tour,
- 36:14kicking off in Wisconsin in a few weeks with support from Mel
- 36:19Foss and Celestial Wizard, with Troll war on several shows.
- 36:24I saw a troll war. Not troll fest, but troll war.
- 36:27Come to Toronto for Ant Man. I would love to.
- 36:29I still need to renew my passport by the way.
- 36:31It's lapsed, but maybe, maybe we'll see.
- 36:35I think they're going to announce more stuff for next
- 36:36year too. So yeah, Ice Giant, some
- 36:39progressive death metal, power metal, all at the same time.
- 36:42Good Friends of Us and Theos announced a new headline tour
- 36:47with Fallujah, who has a new album out, and Theos I believe
- 36:50has another new album in the pipeline.
- 36:52That's super exciting. Savage Master is currently on
- 36:55tour right now with Night. They're playing tonight in
- 36:57Boston. Probably right now they're
- 36:59getting ready for that show. Very cool being Savage Master.
- 37:03Also with the new album out as well as Night, Brad is on tour
- 37:07right now in Europe. Brad is the called themselves
- 37:10Cheerleader Grind quarter, Cheerleader Quarter.
- 37:13But they are amazing and fun. Great band.
- 37:16I hope to interview them eventually.
- 37:20Opeth has added a few more dates to their Last Will and Testament
- 37:23European Tour by popular demand, and then they're going to
- 37:27Australia and New Zealand later in the fall.
- 37:31Riff Haven is here, Macy is here, Harry is back, saw some
- 37:36footage. Nice.
- 37:40I hear you, man. Kings of Thrash.
- 37:44Just a reminder, I believe they're going to add more dates
- 37:47to this. They have a brief We're really
- 37:49in tour in the fall and I believe we're going to get some
- 37:53new Kings of Thrash music and tour date soon as Kings of
- 37:57Thrash, featuring former Megadeth bassist David Ellison
- 38:02and former Megadeth shredder Jeff Young.
- 38:05We have interviewed both those guys.
- 38:06Great killer band. And they're doing euthanasia for
- 38:11the 30th anniversary of that album this year, which is fun.
- 38:14I think that was last year. Technically.
- 38:17Dumb Craft or Dune Craft is on tour with Howling Giant.
- 38:20I might go to this July 1st at the bottom of the hill, it's
- 38:26Fire Electric. I might just go.
- 38:27They have a new album coming out too.
- 38:29A reminder again about Forbidden's Big 40th anniversary
- 38:33of of twisted into form with Nasty Savage and Hellfire and
- 38:38Void taking place in late July that Sabbath on tour continues
- 38:43to add dates. Tetrarch, currently in Europe,
- 38:46just kicked off their door. They're they're on their 4th
- 38:49date tonight, or was tonight in Europe.
- 38:51So very cool for them to check out our recent interview with
- 38:54the band, Halfway Point of the show.
- 38:57Just one more reminder if you feel like throwing us a tip, We
- 39:00appreciate it. You know, not if you're one of
- 39:02the real ones or regular contributors.
- 39:05Mustang and Ellison have not mended their ways.
- 39:08Actually, Dave has been talking about how much he misses.
- 39:12David has been talking about how much he misses Mustang.
- 39:15And, you know, I think the friendship was gone a long time
- 39:21ago and Mustang was just looking for an excuse to get rid of
- 39:23Ellison, which makes me very sad.
- 39:25Very sad, but you know that's life.
- 39:28What are you going to do? I I think Allison is a much
- 39:31better and perfect fit for Megan.
- 39:33Then what's his face? James was in Zack Wylde's band.
- 39:41Why am I drawing a blank on his name suddenly?
- 39:46James Limenzo right? Good bassist, people know him
- 39:53best from White Lion. But yeah, I think I prefer David
- 39:57in the band, but that's just me. And just a reminder, our
- 40:00affiliate partners are Lamb Goats.
- 40:03When you see ads on our website at ghostcoltman.com that comes
- 40:07through Lamb goat Lamb Goat Media Network includes Ghost

- 40:23to stream like we stream except for you all on TikTok,
- 40:26unfortunately, because TikTok doesn't want to play ball with

- 40:31we do, sign up with the link in our description.
- 40:33We get $10 off our next bill. You get $10 off your

- 40:41And again, we're on all the things, we're on Twitch, we're
- 40:44on threads. I don't know if you're on these
- 40:47things. So this was like a slow Newsday
- 40:50on Friday and I guess Nuclear Blast announced that they were
- 40:53leaving X. And I guess it's a good
- 40:57opportunity to say like, hey, you should be following us in
- 41:00other places because we aren't going to post here anymore.
- 41:03Are you still on X? Have you given up on social
- 41:06media? It's such a fucking chore and a
- 41:09pain in the balls to be honest with you or whatever parts you
- 41:12have. He, she, they, them's.
- 41:15It sucks for everybody. I don't know why this guy must
- 41:20ruined, absolutely ruined it, but he did.
- 41:24We'll continue to be there. I don't love being here to
- 41:27support him, but I just feel like we have a lot of traction
- 41:29there and I just think like we are posting there because we get
- 41:34if we weren't getting the traction there, I wouldn't post
- 41:36there anymore. But OK, nuclear blast, no shade
- 41:39on you. They're leaving.
- 41:41Let me know if you're still on X.
- 41:42Where do you find your metal news?
- 41:44Tell us where do you get your news from?
- 41:47Hopefully it's from us, but also other places.
- 41:49Our wizard is here. Snowflake is here.
- 41:53Thanks for being here. So we're also on all the things
- 41:56threads and discord, and you can find us on Blue Sky and Reddit.
- 42:00But anyway, on to the rest of the metal news.
- 42:02Let's do the rest of the metal news.
- 42:04Let me put myself back in here. Hey, I'm back.
- 42:06Let's do this. Now you can see me and they see
- 42:09me. Now you don't.
- 42:10Again, we're talking about Wayne.
- 42:12If a GoFundMe is launched for Wayne, I hope he has some health
- 42:15insurance. That being that hate breed is
- 42:17still a very DIY band. Hopefully they have insurance,
- 42:20but you know, just I wish the best for him.
- 42:23It's a tough, you know, we're getting older and and guys,
- 42:26don't ignore your problems or your medical problems.
- 42:30I say that as a person that hasn't always taken care of
- 42:32myself, but I'm trying the last two years to take care of my
- 42:36physical and mental well-being. And if you start to feel funny
- 42:39or weird, go to the urgent care. Go to the ERI know people don't
- 42:44have a lot of money for things, but believe me when I tell you,
- 42:46if you ignore your problems, you're going to be very sick and
- 42:49it's going to be too late to save you.
- 42:51Wayne spoke up immediately, and they got him the medical care he
- 42:54needed. Ozzy, you can have some Ozzy's
- 42:58DNA inside of you. I don't even know what to do
- 43:01with that and how that sounds, but liquid death, here we go.
- 43:04Liquid Death, the brain, we Rep sold cans that Ozzy took a sip
- 43:09from so you could have Ozzy's DNA and maybe clone him.
- 43:13And they're selling these at $450 a can.
- 43:16I'm pretty sure they already sold out immediately because
- 43:18Liquid Death is brilliant at marketing and geniuses and great
- 43:22at their tag lines and amazing at their campaigns and their
- 43:24merch. And for a while they paid us
- 43:28very well for plugging the products.
- 43:30And people used to use our links and get money off on their cases
- 43:34and we used to get money back. It was dope and we appreciated
- 43:38them. But anyway, own a piece of
- 43:39Aussie. As we get closer and closer to
- 43:41these final shows, I think we're going to get a blitzkrieg of
- 43:44Aussie news. It was also the Aussie coloring
- 43:46book, like the Where's Waldo find Aussie books.
- 43:49That's that's new too. So that's kind of fun.
- 43:53Also also this week, big stories of the week Biohazard from
- 43:57Brooklyn, NY, New York City, my hometown biohazard, one of my
- 44:01favorite bands of all time. Step to the rhythm of the
- 44:03Brooklyn beat. It's time new biohazard music.
- 44:07They dropped the new single forsaken.
- 44:09They announced a new record deal.
- 44:10They had kind of previously gently announced on the Black to
- 44:14Black label, which is going to be the rock and metal label in
- 44:17America from Frontiers Music SRL more primarily known for
- 44:21progressive rock and power metal, but love the new songs
- 44:25like the classic line of a biohazard sounds like the
- 44:27classic band, like absolutely killer.
- 44:32Also also, this is Meg Jacobs. She's got a new album out, kind
- 44:38of a metal core artist in the vein of poppy and spirit box.
- 44:42New album coming soon. Very cool new single coming this
- 44:46week. AII was talking about this last
- 44:50week. We have a major problem with AI.
- 44:52Rick Rubin today gave an interview where he's like
- 44:55geeking over AI and using AI and like years ago used to just go
- 45:01to Conservatory to learn music for years and news, bro.
- 45:04And now the AI can help you overcome all those years.
- 45:08Nah and I called this out last week talking about Timberland,
- 45:11the hip hop producer, talking about maybe, you know, going
- 45:16away from natural stuff and and doing more things with AI.
- 45:21And I really fucking wish he would, you know, I really wish
- 45:25he wouldn't move this down here and see if this is any better.
- 45:28Probably anyway. So yeah.
- 45:34Nope. No better at all.
- 45:35But OK. Yeah.
- 45:37I just unbaffled as to why these, like, supposed legends of
- 45:40music are doubling and tripling down on on AII don't understand.
- 45:45You know, I don't. I don't get it at all.
- 45:47But OK. OK.
- 45:50Rick, small bar. We told you a few weeks ago that
- 45:54the band is calling it quits and announced its farewell tour
- 45:57later this year. And I normally don't plug other
- 46:00websites stuff course paint records is jumped on TikTok.
- 46:03We've got some news coming up with you all very soon.
- 46:06Good to see you Course Paint Records.
- 46:09So small board. I saw an article, there's a very
- 46:13few other writers that I actually read on.
- 46:15I have to edit everybody's stuff on the site and things like that
- 46:18in my homework, so I don't enjoy reading a lot of other people's
- 46:22coverage, but when I observe bad or good coverage, I observe it.
- 46:25So Metal Hammer had an article about bands, especially UK
- 46:28bands, that are breaking up this year and how difficult they
- 46:31found the music industry the last few years.
- 46:34Small Board was talking about their recent tour to support
- 46:37their new album last year. They were like 25 grand in the
- 46:41whole USD when they got back from the tour, which is
- 46:45devastating. And Orange Goblin is breaking up
- 46:49at the end of this year. They've announced their farewell
- 46:51final shows and I think the band Ithika from the UK is breaking
- 46:55up soon. They had some other issues too.
- 46:57So I think, I mean, I expect them to all make music in some
- 47:01other way or shape or form. We have an interview coming up
- 47:04with Harry Osbourne from Orange Goblin about his band Noise
- 47:09Picker and his future prospects with his new music.
- 47:12So you'll be able to check that out next week.
- 47:14But yeah, I thought it was just very interesting to call out.
- 47:16Shout out to Matt Mills. He's a writer for Metal Hammer
- 47:19from the UKI tried to work with that guy.
- 47:20I was like, come work for Ghost Cult, but I lost out to Metal
- 47:24Hammer. But and louder sound, but just
- 47:27fascinating. If you come across that article,
- 47:29if you read other people's stuff that isn't Ghost Cult, I thought
- 47:32that was worthwhile. Also also the praise and album
- 47:38titles and sales continue to come in for Rivers of Niles new
- 47:42self-titled album again, top 10 rock and metal album in the
- 47:46world, which is crazy impressive.
- 47:48We've been talking about the new guard slowly taking over an
- 47:52infiltrating metal and also the mainstreaming of metal and maybe
- 47:56a little less underground than it used to be, but still might
- 47:58be bad ass. So I'm not opposed to at all to
- 48:02bands being successful. Here's a fun story this week.
- 48:06Not red red jumpsuit apparatus. I don't know if you guys are
- 48:10familiar with this band, kind of a three tier metal core rock
- 48:15band, right? And from the very beginning they
- 48:19were like a dis at new metal. Their first album cover has like
- 48:23a claymation Jonathan Davis like person in a tracksuit with tuba
- 48:29whack ass tuba riff or something was the name of that first
- 48:31album. And I was like, don't punch
- 48:34down, uplift yourself. Why don't you put some more
- 48:37thought into things than what you're mad about?
- 48:39So be a positive force. Get people to appreciate you
- 48:42because you're awesome, not because someone else sucks.
- 48:46So he called out, he made a a very brash political statement
- 48:51that he didn't want Trump fans coming to his show.
- 48:54And then it turned into kind of like the reason he did that was
- 48:59some clever ruse to get people talking about Christianity
- 49:03because he's a Christian. He sees the difference between
- 49:05bad Christians and good Christians.
- 49:07And maybe he shouldn't have, you know, necessarily called out
- 49:11Trump fans. That would be half his fan base,
- 49:13by the way. So, you know, again, don't if
- 49:18politics is not your thing, you don't have to talk about
- 49:20politics. Just don't talk about politics.
- 49:22If you, you know, if you've got reactionary views but you want
- 49:25to succeed in music, just don't talk about it Unless politics is
- 49:30in your brand of music and lyrics, then talk about it.
- 49:33But like, understand that you're going to alienate people and say
- 49:36dumb shit. And people called this guy out.
- 49:38And I've never really thought too much about the band, so I
- 49:41don't understand why he did this.
- 49:44But it isn't smart. We live in a very politicized
- 49:47and reactionary climate. Speaking of climate, Halloween.
- 49:52Does it feel fucking frosty? Because Halloween is about to
- 49:55fucking bring it. They announced a brand new
- 49:57album, they've got a brand new single video out and I am
- 50:02pumped. Halloween always a good time.
- 50:04This is the full Halloween Pumpkins United lineup of all
- 50:08the singers. It's pretty fucking stellar.
- 50:11I'm into it. Also, with a new album out soon,
- 50:15is Fishbone riding high? Last Call on America is the name
- 50:20of that album. Wonder if it's political.
- 50:22It might be, but we saw a Fishbone last summer and they
- 50:26were fucking absolutely red, so I'm very excited for new
- 50:29Fishbone music. Static Inks have an announcement
- 50:33this week that like a year after the original debut single they
- 50:36had push it went gold. They have finally decided to pay
- 50:40attention and say something about it.
- 50:42I think last year they were in the middle of the tour when it
- 50:44happened so they didn't stop to acknowledge it.
- 50:47Princeton Wax is here. What up?
- 50:48What up? What up?
- 50:50So, yeah, Static X continues to book and add more tour dates and
- 50:54festivals this fall with Mudvane.
- 50:56I have still not seen Mudvane for the reunion.
- 50:59I really would like to. Did I get that?
- 51:05Berber Dane. Berber Dane.
- 51:10Wild, wild shit. All right, We're we're plowing
- 51:14through this. We're almost done a Walking
- 51:16Bombs is a musical project from a ghost called collaborator
- 51:19Morgan Y Evans. Brand new album Blessings.
- 51:22Bestrun Part 1 is out this week. News soon about Part 2.
- 51:29The album features a ton of guest appearances.
- 51:31It's pretty rad. Mostly This album releases
- 51:35mostly psychedelic rock and some avant-garde music and.
- 51:39And again, always very Speaking of politics, politics is
- 51:42Morgan's brand in a lot of ways. And Morgan does interviews for
- 51:46Ghost Cult and used to do album reviews.
- 51:47So we're proud to support our people.
- 51:51Here we go. Sun Don't Shine.
- 51:53And if you're still hiding around out there, course Paint
- 51:57Records. Sun Don't Shine is in the studio
- 52:00right now in New Orleans finishing the finishing songs
- 52:04and finishing touches on their debut album coming out this fall
- 52:08on course paint records and the band has been doing a lot of
- 52:11cool stuff on social media and so Johnny Kelly this is members
- 52:15of Type O Negative and down all together and pro bar all
- 52:18together in one band and I saw how cool picture of it 1/2 empty
- 52:22beer on Johnny Kelly's snare drum.
- 52:26That was really cool and it was very nice of Sundown trying to
- 52:29shout us out on the in their social media posts about like
- 52:34what we said about the band. So I'm super excited.
- 52:36We've had interviews both in the last year or two with Johnny
- 52:40Kelly and with Kenny Hickey, and I expect that we will talk to
- 52:44them again as we get the run up to the new album.
- 52:47Also with the new album coming soon that I'm super stoked about
- 52:51is Mojave Phone Booth. Maybe you're not familiar with
- 52:53Mojave Phone Booth, but you do know Snake River Conspiracy,
- 52:57which has two featured members from Mojave Pho Booth in that
- 53:01band. So they Mojave Pho Booth is
- 53:03coming back with a new record. Drop the new single in a video.
- 53:06I do believe we're going to get eventually some new Snake River
- 53:11Conspiracy performances, maybe music, I don't know.
- 53:14I would love to hear also also former ghost cult associate,
- 53:20maybe future ghost cult associate Moths led by Wes
- 53:24Leslie. Negron on Bass Moth has a new
- 53:26album coming out in August. Or he dropped another new
- 53:29single, Barry Killer. Sort of progressive deathy
- 53:34Stoner rock. Very good band so check out that
- 53:38here. Psychonaut also announced the
- 53:40new album and drop the new single in video.
- 53:42Very cool band from Europe. On the Stoner doom tip, this is
- 53:45super cool. Louisiana's Music Factory to
- 53:48reopen on its 33rd and a third anniversary with a day long free
- 53:53concert. So that is a very cool location
- 53:55in New Orleans. I would like to get down there
- 53:57sometime. I'm sure Cross Paint Records has
- 53:59been there or will be the going there.
- 54:05Oh, what else do we have to talk about?
- 54:07This is a fun one. Paradise Lost announced their
- 54:09new album. If you've been listening to my
- 54:11other podcast, we joked about how many albums Paradise Lost
- 54:14put out in the 90s, like 100 albums, $1.00.
- 54:19Southeast of Heaven is here just talking about the new Paradise
- 54:24Lost record Time. And they made another one a
- 54:26second later, and another one. It's too funny.
- 54:30I know that no one else is laughing but you.
- 54:32Paradise Lost. Oh God, come on, they're so
- 54:34good. We kind of need to do a series.
- 54:37We need to come up with a metal band for the next series.
- 54:40We'll see if Nick allows you to have some input because he's not
- 54:44watching. You are.
- 54:45So again, sun don't shine, new Paradise Lost.
- 54:49This looks hella cool. This is a new album coming soon.
- 54:54Also, I was like, yo, there are so many good bands right now
- 54:59and, and this is really the time.
- 55:01This is one of the busiest times of the year for new albums.
- 55:04And so, you know, it's very hard for bands to kind of
- 55:07breakthrough, but I want people to, you know, just kind of
- 55:11understand that, you know, it's not easy to put new music out.
- 55:17It's it's very tough to breakthrough and and cut through
- 55:19the noise. As somebody watching this knows,
- 55:21this is the first of 13 times that release this year.
- 55:24I fucking hope not, bro. Burton C Bell dropped the new
- 55:27single like a week or so ago. I don't know if you saw it,
- 55:30Savages. We covered the very first Burton
- 55:33C Bell solo show under his own name.
- 55:36He's done other musical projects and concerts before, but he's
- 55:42got a new single coming. He hasn't said he's going to put
- 55:45a record out. He said he's going to put out a
- 55:47series of singles. Tank Gibson is here and Rich
- 55:49McKinney is here. Which hound pass by?
- 55:52You know, Don, I don't know. We've been trying to do hit
- 55:55fishing for 2025 and I think they're too small a man to do.
- 55:59But we'll see. Let's we'll bring it up for a
- 56:02debate with Nick And again, thanks again.
- 56:06Course paint records for the shout out.
- 56:09The only ice we need is iced tea or ice cube everybody.
- 56:13That's just a must. Let's talk about new music
- 56:16Friday. I'll blow this up for a second
- 56:18before I put my face out. New music coming out this week.
- 56:22And this is such a big heavy couple of weeks of the music
- 56:26industry. And we used to the summers used
- 56:29to be quiet, but not anymore. New albums coming out this week.
- 56:32I will do the album title, the band name, album title, record
- 56:37label and genre. Hopefully that helps.

- 1:00:05also on Rune Secret. Also industrial and ambient
- 1:00:09music. That is all the stuff coming out
- 1:00:11this week for new music Friday. Kryptopsies in there.
- 1:00:16So much exciting stuff. Dillinger.
- 1:00:22Oh, the Sabbath live stream. Yeah.
- 1:00:23I mean, for 20 bucks, go balls deep.
- 1:00:26You're crazy, Don. You're crazy.
- 1:00:28I love seeing you, though. Thanks for popping in my show.
- 1:00:31And now it's time for the mailbag.
- 1:00:32But first, why does Phil Collins in the 70s look like he would
- 1:00:35have been the hottest indie pop artist in 2024?
- 1:00:38Definitely looks like he should have a rap mix tape in this
- 1:00:40photo on on YouTube and Twitch. Get out of here Don read more
- 1:00:50paradise plus records coming out.
- 1:00:52That's right. All right, it's time for the
- 1:00:53mailbag. And last week we had a cool book
- 1:00:56that was sent to me about a new cool book sent to me about Guns
- 1:01:02N' Roses. Let's actually put my face back
- 1:01:04on the screen because boom, you won't be able to see the book
- 1:01:07which I have behind me. So American Hardcore, you might
- 1:01:12be familiar with the documentary that celebrated a 15 year
- 1:01:15anniversary this week. The book is now out in second in
- 1:01:19additional printings in different languages and other
- 1:01:21things. If you are not an English
- 1:01:23reader, but I was sent the new revised version of American
- 1:01:27Hardcore. This is by Steve Blush.
- 1:01:29The documentary is now 15 years old.
- 1:01:31The book is 20 something years old, 25 years old almost.
- 1:01:35I had a recent interview with Steve that's going to go live
- 1:01:38soon and he's got events next week that we're going to help
- 1:01:42plug with some news stories in the podcast interview I did with
- 1:01:45him. And then eventually it'll pop up
- 1:01:47on YouTube, but I wanted to not only plug American Hardcore,
- 1:01:51which this is a soft cover and expanded with new chapters and
- 1:01:54everything that's amazing, but also he's got a series of other
- 1:01:57books, including the trilogy he's finishing this year.
- 1:02:00So his next book is actually coming out, which is when rock
- 1:02:03met hard hip hop. He's done a whole series of
- 1:02:06these and they're not about hip hop.
- 1:02:08It's more about rock artists and rock artists adopting hip hop
- 1:02:11and rap, metal and new metal and rap, rock and hardcore and metal
- 1:02:15and metallic hardcore and basically everybody that raps.
- 1:02:19Steve Blush is one of the preeminent writers.
- 1:02:21He used to write for. I read him in the Village Voice.
- 1:02:25He also used to write for Paste Magazine.
- 1:02:27He had his own scene that he wrote, used to book shows in DC.
- 1:02:31So he was there living it. He's about my age and he was
- 1:02:34like in DC as a teenager watching like Rollins come on
- 1:02:38stage with Black Flag for the first time.
- 1:02:40So our interview is very extensive.
- 1:02:42You should check that out again. Plug with those called Magazine
- 1:02:45Podcast. Eventually it'll make it to
- 1:02:46YouTube. But yeah, just absolutely
- 1:02:49tickled that they sent me this new book out and I'm going to
- 1:02:52refresh myself with it because my original copy is back east in
- 1:02:55storage. Thanks, Omar.
- 1:02:57And once again, and yeah, just stoked to have another thing on
- 1:03:02my bookshelf. I have so much stuff I'm
- 1:03:04finishing. I'm just about finished the Gary
- 1:03:06Holt book. So that review will be coming
- 1:03:09hopefully soon. And his book is an eye opener.
- 1:03:12Wow. And that's the show.
- 1:03:14That is the show with a very manageable one hour and 3
- 1:03:17minutes. Thank you so much for being
- 1:03:19here. I greatly appreciate you all.
- 1:03:21I am kefi of Ghost goldman.com. If you're going to hang out and
- 1:03:24celebrate a party this weekend, please don't drink and drive.
- 1:03:27Give somebody else the keys. As we say every week at this
- 1:03:31juncture, the show is a tough time in the world.
- 1:03:33So please take care of yourselves, take care of each
- 1:03:35other. Stay as metal as humanly
- 1:03:37possible. And I'm going to dance a jig on
- 1:03:39the way out if the final outro music and let's see if it works.
- 1:03:43I don't know. Nope.
