- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: God, thank you today for life for us breathing for us being able to hear and do those things that are allowing us to get better and grow.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: And how many of you are sick and tired of performing?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Let me just take a time to that.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: You sick and tired of putting on so that you can get in certain rooms.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Meet certain people.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: So you think, or how many of you try to put it on?
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: And because putting on, and when I say putting on, let me just say this.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: Performing.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: being somebody that you're not co-switching if you please ever heard people and I struggle with this oftentimes especially as I am my role as a pastor and my role as a professional speaker sometimes people have checked me they said man you sound different
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I get it.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: People often, and there's a place for, I mean, I see people who are actors, right?
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: Who are leading from a script or have learned a line, right?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: You put on for the role.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then, of course, you don't sound exactly like that when you're not in the role.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I get that.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: But if your Lights, Camera, Action, Face, Persona, and Attitude is a stark contrast to who you really are.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: because of challenge.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: You see, because I really, I really, I'm really, I'm really an advocate for you being free to be who you are.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know why?
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know why I'm gonna have to get for that?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: we get the best version of you when you can just be you.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Is anybody ever felt like that?
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: You felt you felt stuffy, you felt like I'm on a pocket at my place, I should say, on your job because you're trying to be something.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm not saying, because I remember growing up, I often would try to be like a little hood, hoodlum dug.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I would tell my teachers, this just me.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: And my teachers are like, that's not you.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: You put no one for somebody else.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: This ain't the right audience, brother.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying that we have trained ourselves to be something that we are not.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: And then we say, oh, I want to be my authentic self on the job or I'm not saying that.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying that you have developed this kind of persona that is totally reckless.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: And you want to be that?
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: And he's just understand that there's power because listen, why that is important and I can go down the list of things, right?
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm to my, your original with your thoughts, uh, use language that and the tone that, no, that best suits you.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to put on an act as if I'm somebody else.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: I remember I used to get teased oftentimes for using proper English, right?
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, yeah, I'm cool.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's me.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not putting on.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: I use proper English, right?
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm from a neighborhood or from an area that, you know, the people don't really pride themselves on that or with that.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's cool.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Just because people that may live next door may talk differently doesn't mean I'm faking.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: So here it is.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's the end of there.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: I was listening to one of my favorite, favorite podcasts and
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: And the host was talking about how he heard their story.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's important about this guy who was always trying to figure out why his neighbor's grass was green.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: And he lived right next door, used the same, he thought fertilizer, buried the same weather and his grass was brown and their grass was green.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, man, it's, it's, it's almost as if, you know, it kept them up at night trying to figure out even after having conversations and they were just telling them, hey, wait we, this is what we're using.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: They just kind of followed everything that the neighbor said that they did to their grass, the late one night he heard a truck rolling by.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: And he went outside and went to the window.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: I forgot how this story goes exactly.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it looked out and took guests.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, take a wild guess what he saw.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Take a wild guess.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: This neighbor's grass was green.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: It looked healthy.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: His his grass was brown.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, how in the world is that the case?
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: He went outside.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: I went to the window.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: and he saw a big truck rolling by spray painting their grass green.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Oh man, come on, I live in California, right?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: I know what artificial turf is all about.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: I understand that sometimes, you know, you go to backyards and you like, oh, wow, this is great.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: And then you look a little bit closer.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay, this is a golf course looking type stuff, right?
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you're comparing yourself.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: to people and to characters that ain't unreal.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you find yourself performing for people, check it out, who are not even being real themselves.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you find yourself acting out of character and man, listen, and you're like, oh, I've been competing against a machine.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: There's no way that you can compete against a machine that's fake, that's not real, there's not putting forth real effort and a not being 100% who they are.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to be free.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to be free.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Because there's nothing, there's nothing like freedom.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: A couple weeks ago, we celebrated Juneteenth.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was so funny because a lot of people were still trying to figure out, even after it's been made a federal holiday for a couple of years now, people still trying to figure out why it's Juneteenth.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Not only are people trying to figure out why Juneteenth is a federal holiday, people are trying to figure out.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: What is it all about right even after a few years of celebrating this holiday and of course I grew up down south.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I understood before it became a national phenomenon or a national thing or federal holiday.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: I knew that Juneteenth was simply about the fact that there was some folk down in south Texas who didn't hear that they had been freed from slavery.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: Two years after the emancipation proclamation was signed, they finally got the news that they were free.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so now on June 19th, 1865, they got word, that they were free, but prior to that, for two years,
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: they were still operating under the strong arm of slavery because they hadn't heard that they were free.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, so my listening right now, you're free, you're free to be who you are.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you, this is you are free to be who you were born to be.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: You're free to walk in your gifts, you're free to.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: To sing as loud as you want to sing, you're free to use whatever gift you have to the disworld can be a better place.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: You are free.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: Hit, check me out now.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Just like we said last week.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: I can tell you that you're free, but you got to believe that you're free.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: You got to walk in that freedom.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: You got to walk in that power and understand that, hey, listen, what's it?
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: If I ask yourself right now, what have you been holding back for?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: or who have you been holding back for?
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, why have you been holding back?
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I'm not talking about these fake personalities and fake persona and fake this fake.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about the real you.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: Would you please stand up?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Would the real you remember M&M back in the day?
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I'm showing my 80s now.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Slim Shady, yeah.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: You said, would the real Slim Shady please stand up?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: Will the real you please stand up?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Walk in your gifts.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: walking your purpose.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: Your purpose is not about performance.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Your purpose is directly connected to you walking in the fullness of who you are and fulfilling your God given responsibility while you are on this earth.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I hope somebody today received a nugget from this brief conversation
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I really want you, because listen, and I want you to be an ambassador now, I want you to take this message, send it to somebody else.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I've discovered this, if I tell somebody to go find something on YouTube or if I tell somebody to go look up an episode or look up something, you know, it's like people are so busy, I get it, they'll probably never do it.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: They'll say, oh, okay, I'll go check it out.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: But then life be life, like a kid.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: They got jobs, they got work.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: So they don't have time to go now.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: If I send it to them.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, the chance is raised, the percentage, the chances of them looking at it.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: If I actually do the work of copy and pasting, that's all you guys do, there's copy and paste where you got this message from copy, the spider file link, copy the YouTube link and put it in this and it text message and send it to somebody that needs to be set free from performing, from putting on and that need to be free to be themselves.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Send it out, don't forget to like it, don't forget that each week we come together for one simple purpose, so we can go, we can grow, and so that we can glow.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I hope you were blessed.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Hope you got some nuggets.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Have a great rest of your week, and I'll see you next time, same place, same time.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Peace.
