- 0:07Speaker 2: I've covered Jeff Legwall.
- 0:10Speaker 1: His appearances are always must listen radio. We learn a lot,
- 0:13Speaker 1: brought to you.
- 0:14Speaker 2: By the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Start with a
- 0:17Speaker 2: job and for the career IBW Local sixty eight. It's
- 0:21Speaker 2: Leggy lef ye ye on Altitude Sports Radio ninety two five.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's Jeff Legwald time, and I'm Monday afternoon here
- 0:33Speaker 1: on Craigman and Lindahl Jeff Legwald, brought to you by
- 0:36Speaker 1: the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBW Local sixty eight.
- 0:39Speaker 1: You start with the job and you end with a career,
- 0:43Speaker 1: all right, Jeff uh oh, we're inside two weeks to
- 0:47Speaker 1: go to the start of the NFL Draft. We are
- 0:50Speaker 1: that much closer. By the way, what's our release date
- 0:53Speaker 1: of the top one hundred? Where are we at on this?
- 0:56Speaker 3: I believe it's the twentieth twentieth?
- 0:59Speaker 1: Okay, so we are six days away. So what are
- 1:03Speaker 1: we talking? Their Saturday Sunday and Monday.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Summer Sunday week from yesterday?
- 1:07Speaker 1: We go math. That's not my strong suit right there. Okay, Jeff,
- 1:12Speaker 1: you're taking a look at your top one hundred right now.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Running backs. Okay, obviously everybody wants to connect Denver to
- 1:18Speaker 1: a running back. George Peyton has said we're going to
- 1:20Speaker 1: draft a running back. We don't, as we've discussed on
- 1:22Speaker 1: this show at number twenty, is that a good place
- 1:24Speaker 1: to use a pick on a running back? Well, they
- 1:26Speaker 1: also got fifty one and eighty five. Who's your favorite
- 1:30Speaker 1: running back in this draft or Sean Payton's offense that
- 1:34Speaker 1: could be available in that neighborhood.
- 1:37Speaker 4: You know, the guy I like better than a lot
- 1:41Speaker 4: of people and where you've seen him, probably by most
- 1:45Speaker 4: is Travion Henderson. I think he's the best pass protector
- 1:51Speaker 4: on the board at the position. He's a good receiver.
- 1:56Speaker 4: I love him as a runner. He's one of my
- 1:59Speaker 4: favorite players on this board. And we're still mashing through
- 2:03Speaker 4: some of the numbers and everything to get it put together.
- 2:08Speaker 4: But will I will almost certainly have him a lot
- 2:11Speaker 4: higher than a lot of people. I think he could
- 2:14Speaker 4: be there for them at fifty one, and you know,
- 2:19Speaker 4: down the board for them, I like ATN Trevor ATN
- 2:22Speaker 4: and you know, I just think, but again, at running back,
- 2:27Speaker 4: you could pull a guy in Day three even that
- 2:29Speaker 4: will have a role for your team as a rookie
- 2:33Speaker 4: in this class. This class is really something, and they
- 2:38Speaker 4: have between the Senior Bowl, the Combine, Top thirty visits
- 2:42Speaker 4: and Zoom meetings, they've met with almost every gradable running
- 2:48Speaker 4: back that can catch a football out of the backfield.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Seven yards per carry on the ground in traveon Henderson. Clearly,
- 2:56Speaker 1: that's you like a number like that. Now, you know
- 2:59Speaker 1: he's not going to have Ohio State's athletic advantage necessarily
- 3:03Speaker 1: in every single game, but still that's a great number
- 3:05Speaker 1: to see. Twenty seven receptions, two hundred and eighty four yards.
- 3:08Speaker 1: He did have a touchdown last year. We know that
- 3:10Speaker 1: Sean Payton wants to be throwing two backs on early
- 3:13Speaker 1: downs and feature that as a huge part of his offense.
- 3:17Speaker 1: As you have scouted Henderson, how do you like his
- 3:20Speaker 1: fit in that way?
- 3:22Speaker 4: I think he's a great fan. I think you'd be
- 3:24Speaker 4: a much better receiver as a pro and more active
- 3:27Speaker 4: I think than he was in college. And again in
- 3:32Speaker 4: the biggest thing that keeps our rookie running back off
- 3:35Speaker 4: the field on third down and even second and long
- 3:38Speaker 4: is pass protection and because most guys aren't asked to
- 3:43Speaker 4: do it ever in college, and two of the best
- 3:46Speaker 4: pass protectors at the position on the board are Henderson
- 3:49Speaker 4: in ATM.
- 3:51Speaker 3: All right, let's get into the case of Shdou Sanders.
- 3:53Speaker 5: It's interesting, Jeff, because I wanted to ask you about
- 3:55Speaker 5: and based on I heard on Get Up this morning,
- 3:58Speaker 5: which was a whole lot of bait as to who
- 4:00Speaker 5: likes him, who doesn't you know. Peter Schrager new to
- 4:03Speaker 5: your network now, he was saying I've not talked to
- 4:05Speaker 5: a lot of people in New Orleans or Pittsburgh that
- 4:08Speaker 5: he sure is even in love with Shodor just yet.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Adam Schefter tweeting before you came on that now Shodor
- 4:14Speaker 5: is gonna have one more final private workout in Boulder
- 4:17Speaker 5: for the Giants, And a lot of people said this morning,
- 4:20Speaker 5: Schreger among them U Graziano talking about it, that they
- 4:22Speaker 5: don't think the Giants are really interested other than maybe
- 4:25Speaker 5: if he were to fall to them.
- 4:27Speaker 3: In the second round, maybe they'd have some interest there.
- 4:30Speaker 5: What do you think is going on, first off, with
- 4:32Speaker 5: Shodar's draft stock. I mean, you've told us that he's
- 4:36Speaker 5: kind of been up and down for a few people
- 4:38Speaker 5: and I'll tell you what answer that first, and they
- 4:40Speaker 5: got to follow up about the Saints in particular. But
- 4:42Speaker 5: what do you think is going on? Do you think
- 4:44Speaker 5: the Giants are interested at three? Or do you think
- 4:46Speaker 5: they're trying to get some action on a trade there?
- 4:50Speaker 4: It could be everything andy at this point. Now, it's
- 4:52Speaker 4: pretty drastic to go do the whole Make a guy
- 4:57Speaker 4: go through a private workout and convince his agent it's
- 5:01Speaker 4: worth his while to go through a private workout if
- 5:04Speaker 4: you're not genuinely interested in I'm you know, I think
- 5:08Speaker 4: a lot of teams have him graded closer to the
- 5:11Speaker 4: top of the second bottom of the first as just
- 5:15Speaker 4: a pure grade. But he's a quarterback, so anything can
- 5:18Speaker 4: happen with him. I guess I am troubled, as a
- 5:23Speaker 4: four decade guy in the draft critiquing business, that this
- 5:30Speaker 4: notion that he's falling. I think he's just been graded
- 5:34Speaker 4: differently by teams, and I think people should really remember
- 5:37Speaker 4: that he's not tumbling on the draft board or anything
- 5:41Speaker 4: like that. No matter how people phrase it, He's like
- 5:45Speaker 4: any player. Some guys are fired up for him and
- 5:48Speaker 4: other guys are not. I mean again, I can find
- 5:51Speaker 4: you a scout who thinks every player on this board
- 5:55Speaker 4: is not worth the pick they have. And it's just
- 5:58Speaker 4: the nature of the business again that you know, his
- 6:02Speaker 4: processing is great, his his big moment play is great. Uh,
- 6:09Speaker 4: you know, he's built to be a pro and mentally,
- 6:13Speaker 4: you know, it isn't gonna be too much for him
- 6:15Speaker 4: to be somebody starting quarterback. It's you know, he's not
- 6:20Speaker 4: a very big guy and athletically in the NFL there
- 6:25Speaker 4: will be you know, he will have difficulty running away
- 6:29Speaker 4: from defenders like he did at times in college. And
- 6:32Speaker 4: and that's those are the issues. And you know, it
- 6:35Speaker 4: has nothing to do with is you know, you know,
- 6:38Speaker 4: is he a good prospect or not. It's just part
- 6:41Speaker 4: of the evaluation. But I I personally would would think
- 6:46Speaker 4: he should be graded, you know, on the bottom third
- 6:49Speaker 4: of the first round or early second round.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Right, let's talk Saints specifically.
- 6:54Speaker 5: Now, everybody's saying the Saints are gonna have interest because
- 6:57Speaker 5: Derek Carr is hurt a Do you think that that's
- 7:00Speaker 5: actually true? And be is that really a good situation
- 7:03Speaker 5: for Shud or like, shouldn't they have loved him before?
- 7:05Speaker 3: Should cars status effect?
- 7:07Speaker 5: Is it really a good situation if they're only drafting
- 7:09Speaker 5: you because all of a sudden a guy got hurt.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Yeah, and it would be hard for me to believe
- 7:14Speaker 4: a team would just suddenly take a guy, you know,
- 7:19Speaker 4: from where he had been graded and move him drastically
- 7:22Speaker 4: because they've had some injury news. You're you're not doing
- 7:25Speaker 4: the draft right if if you're doing that. But I
- 7:29Speaker 4: think overall, there certainly have to be interested in another
- 7:33Speaker 4: quarterback solution since the one they had is probably not
- 7:37Speaker 4: going to be available for the whole season. So yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 4: they're in the quarterback business on draft day, and and
- 7:45Speaker 4: you know, I think that makes them an intriguing team
- 7:49Speaker 4: to watch. But for Shadoor or any other quarterback, I
- 7:53Speaker 4: don't think it would be awesome to go there with
- 7:55Speaker 4: their perennial cap difficulties and you know, yet another new coach.
- 8:02Speaker 4: And you know, I think only difficulty up the road
- 8:06Speaker 4: until they they peel the salary cap issues all the
- 8:10Speaker 4: way down to the to the bare bones and fix them.
- 8:13Speaker 4: But they seem intent on never doing that.
- 8:18Speaker 1: They're not, and this is one of the struggles you
- 8:22Speaker 1: have as a perennially top ten drafting team in the NFL.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So that said, Jeff, you're if you're looking at the
- 8:30Speaker 1: teams that you could connect Shador to. We're quite frankly
- 8:34Speaker 1: any quarterback, any quarterback needy team in the NFL right now,
- 8:39Speaker 1: what's a good landing spot? Like, is there one currently
- 8:43Speaker 1: in the NFL amongst the quarterback needy teams?
- 8:46Speaker 2: Like?
- 8:46Speaker 1: Is it maybe Pittsburgh? What what is it right now?
- 8:50Speaker 4: Well, you know, again, I know it. It's a money thing,
- 8:53Speaker 4: and it's significant money. So I'm not gonna sit here
- 8:56Speaker 4: and pretend I understand what it would be like to
- 8:59Speaker 4: give up that much money, because I don't understand what
- 9:03Speaker 4: that would be like. But I would want to be
- 9:07Speaker 4: like Lamar. I would want to come down to the
- 9:10Speaker 4: bottom of the first round and land with a playoff team.
- 9:14Speaker 4: That's what I would want as a player. So to me,
- 9:18Speaker 4: Pittsburgh's attractive because it's stable. They've always been stable. You know,
- 9:25Speaker 4: history says if some reason they want to find another
- 9:30Speaker 4: coach after Mike Tomlin, it will probably be another ten
- 9:33Speaker 4: year guy because they always hire ten fifteen year guys
- 9:38Speaker 4: as their head coach. So if again, it costs you
- 9:42Speaker 4: significant money in your first contract, So I don't downgrade that.
- 9:46Speaker 4: But any rookie quarterback I would want to come down
- 9:51Speaker 4: the board a smidge and you end up with a
- 9:54Speaker 4: much better team around you, with much better infrastructure, with
- 9:59Speaker 4: most likely coaches who have been in place. Yeah, and
- 10:02Speaker 4: there isn't this turnover and you know, yet another rebuild
- 10:06Speaker 4: or anything like that. But you know, again, I know
- 10:09Speaker 4: it's a big money thing and there's a little ego
- 10:11Speaker 4: involved of you know, you were taking whenever in the draft.
- 10:16Speaker 1: All right, Top one hundred coming Sunday, Jeff Legwold, everybody,
- 10:19Speaker 1: ESPN dot com. Leggie, get back in the lab man.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I don't think you're done quite yet, but I'm sure
- 10:24Speaker 1: you're getting close. Keep up the good work, dude
- 10:27Speaker 4: Thank care, follas, we'll see it.
