- 0:51Holy Spirit, wreck us today with your holy presence.
- 0:56Teach us today and convict us. I decrease as you increase.
- 1:00It's all about King Jesus, teach us your eternal past.
- 1:04Father, we acknowledge you today and we ask that you'll direct
- 1:07our steps. We love you, deny Yeshua, we
- 1:12love you, Yahweh, we love you Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Nicey,
- 1:17Jehovah Jireh, El Roy, El Elyon, we love you God the most high
- 1:22God, we worship you today and we love you.
- 1:26Father, teach us your ways and lead us on past from glory to
- 1:29glory. And it's in Jesus Christ, holy
- 1:32and precious name that I pray, Amen.
- 1:37Well, let's start in verse one. Children, obey your parents and
- 1:44the Lord for this is right. Well, it goes without saying,
- 1:48friends, we need to teach our children obedience.
- 1:52We don't need to teach them how to be bad.
- 1:55It's easy to see a child snatching a toy from another.
- 1:58It's easy for a child to lie and to steal.
- 2:02But we need to make sure that we're teaching them to obey,
- 2:06friends. And that is, he's going to tell
- 2:09us that is how they achieve a long life on this earth.
- 2:14Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment
- 2:18with a promise that is all the way back in the 10 commandments.
- 2:23The children are told to obey and to honor their mother and
- 2:27father. 13 that it may be well with you, and you may live long
- 2:31on this earth. And then he goes on after he
- 2:34tells the children that they are to obey their parents.
- 2:39And that is a precursor to obeying authority, which
- 2:43ultimately leads to obeying God. Four.
- 2:50And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but
- 2:54bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
- 2:59It's easy when you have authority over your children.
- 3:03It's easy for you to provoke them.
- 3:07You know all their little buttons and you know how to push
- 3:09them. And God here is telling the
- 3:13fathers to grow up, quit acting like little children, to
- 3:18actually train up your child in the way they should go, so that
- 3:22when they are older they will not depart from it. 5 Servants,
- 3:28be obedient to them that are your masters, according to the
- 3:31flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart as
- 3:35unto Christ. So you have to understand, no
- 3:38matter if you're the employer, the employee, we all serve the
- 3:45same Master Jesus Christ, and he's telling us to be of 1
- 3:50accord and one mind. And we don't need to be
- 3:53backbiting and dissenters. We do not need to sow discord.
- 3:57We do not need to be talking badly.
- 4:00If you cannot agree with the principles and the morals of
- 4:04your employer, it's not time for them to leave.
- 4:08It's time for you to go. 6 Not with eye service as men
- 4:15pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God
- 4:18from the heart. So he's saying, don't just do
- 4:20things to be seen, do things as if, as if you're working unto
- 4:24the Lord. Do everything for God, Do it all
- 4:28unto God, for everything is naked and laid bare in his
- 4:32sight. He knows all of the nuances.
- 4:36He knows all of the unspoken things that go into something.
- 4:40You cannot pull the wool over his eyes.
- 4:43God sees it all and He knows it all.
- 4:45So we work for God and God alone, and God will reward the
- 4:49things that we do in secret 7 with good will, doing service as
- 4:55to the Lord and not to men. We work for God Almighty and not
- 4:58for men. 8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man
- 5:03does, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he is a
- 5:06bond or free. So you need to understand
- 5:09whatever position you find yourself in, in a lesser
- 5:13position or a higher position, we all are going to give an
- 5:18account to God Almighty and there is a grave responsibility
- 5:24for those that are in the higher positions.
- 5:26And we need to learn how to be servant leaders and shepherd
- 5:32kings. And that is where meekness comes
- 5:35in. You might have power, but do not
- 5:37abuse that power, friends. Do it with fear and trembling
- 5:43before the Lord. 9 And you masters do the same things unto
- 5:50them, forbearing threatenings, knowing that your master also is
- 5:55in heaven. Neither is there respective
- 5:58persons with him. He is not going to look at your
- 6:02high position and think any more of you.
- 6:07You do not get to try to argue with God and call God into the
- 6:11courtroom and tell God how to behave or what he should think
- 6:15or ask God, does he know who you are?
- 6:17It doesn't work that way. 10 Finally, my brothers, be strong
- 6:24in the Lord and in the power of his might.
- 6:27Here is the warriors power. We're going to get into this
- 6:30little section and Paul has built this crescendo up,
- 6:35friends. You can see it all being built
- 6:38up. And right here he says finally,
- 6:41and this letter that he wrote here to the Ephesians, Paul is
- 6:48going to end on a high note. He's going to go out with a
- 6:52bang, friends. He's going to go out on top,
- 6:57friends. And let's see what he has to say
- 6:59to the warriors. He tells us verse 11, put on the
- 7:06whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the
- 7:10Wiles of the devil. This is the warrior's armor.
- 7:15So not only the warrior's power is in the power of the Lord, the
- 7:19power of the Lord's might. That's how we are to be strong
- 7:24friends. But then we start putting on
- 7:26this armor so that we can stand against the devil.
- 7:31We are not to be found sitting on our blessed assurance.
- 7:34We are called to be found standing in His holy presence.
- 7:3912 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
- 7:44principalities and powers and rulers of the darkness of this
- 7:48world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places.
- 7:52So you need to understand who is our foes?
- 7:56People are not the problem, friends, it is the spirit behind
- 8:03the people that we war against. People have been hijacked by
- 8:10these demonic entities who desire a body, these demonic
- 8:16spirits who want to inhabit and possess and to do their
- 8:23biddings. Friends, we do not war against
- 8:28people, we war against the principalities, we war against
- 8:32the powers, we war against the rulers of darkness, we war
- 8:37against the spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore
- 8:44take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
- 8:48withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand,
- 8:56stand, stand, stand, take a stand against the things that
- 9:01you know are evil. Do not be found being the silent
- 9:07majority, friends. We are to speak up and speak out
- 9:14and to stand up against all the atrocities of our day and our
- 9:19hour, and we will give an account for all the times that
- 9:23we remain silent. We do not need to fear the one
- 9:28that can kill the body, but we need to fear the one that can
- 9:31kill the body and cast our soul into hell.
- 9:36Stand therefore 14 having your loins girt about with truth, and
- 9:42having on the breastplate of righteousness.
- 9:45So we put on this belt of truth. Everything on the entire armor
- 9:51is hinged upon the belt. The belt is the centerpiece of
- 9:57all the armor. If we cannot stand on truth,
- 10:00then all the other pieces make no sense.
- 10:05We do not need to go out into the battle naked with nothing
- 10:10but a sword. We do not need to go out into
- 10:14the battle naked with nothing more than a shield and a sword.
- 10:19We do not need to go out into the battle with nothing more
- 10:23than a helmet and a shield and a sword.
- 10:27We must put on this belt of truth first.
- 10:32Everything is hinged upon truth and Jesus Christ is the truth
- 10:40and having on the breastplate of righteousness.
- 10:43So this protects our heart. Friends, as we put on this
- 10:47breastplate of righteousness, our hearts will not be LED
- 10:51astray by all of the worries and the cares of this world.
- 10:55It will protect us from the fiery darts of the enemy of
- 10:58worry, anxiety, depression, greed, and comfort.
- 11:03When the fiery darts come our way, our heart will be protected
- 11:07if we will do the right thing. Say the right thing, friends. 15
- 11:15And your feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of
- 11:18peace. And whenever you will tell the
- 11:20truth, and you'll live the right way, you will receive this
- 11:23peace. And we need to put on these
- 11:25shoes and run the race, and take the gospel to the whole world.
- 11:3116 Above all, take the shield of faith, where with you will be
- 11:39able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
- 11:42This shield is above all because it is above your head, it is
- 11:47above your shoulders. Friends, we lift the shield of
- 11:50faith up over our minds. We lift it up over our thoughts,
- 11:56we lift it up over our fears. We have to have faith over fear,
- 12:02faith over feelings. We lift it above all.
- 12:07It is the highest part of the armor.
- 12:10You lift it up over your head. 17 Take the helmet of salvation
- 12:19and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- 12:22So this helmet protects your mind.
- 12:25All the battles that you're going to fight today are won or
- 12:29lost in the mind first. That is why it's so important to
- 12:34let the Word of God wash over your mind, and that is the
- 12:39importance, friends, we bring our salvation story back on our
- 12:44minds. We tell our salvation story,
- 12:47which is not only edifying to the here, but it's edifying to
- 12:50yourself to hear your testimony being talked about.
- 12:57And then very last in this entire armor is the sword of the
- 13:02Spirit, which is the Word of God.
- 13:05And it is mentioned last on purpose because there has been
- 13:08so many cults that have been started because people only had
- 13:14the sword and they did not have the shield, the belt, the
- 13:19breastplate, the helmet, friends, or the shoes.
- 13:23All they had was the sword. And they went out and did much
- 13:27evil. And if you go back to the Garden
- 13:29of Eden, whenever God told them not to eat from the Tree of the
- 13:35knowledge of both good and evil, there are many people that have
- 13:39wielded this sword, the Word of God, for much evil in the world.
- 13:48Far be it from us to fall for their traps and their trickery
- 13:53and their deception. They are ravenous wolves in
- 13:57sheep's clothing. 18 praying always with all prayer and
- 14:05supplication in the Spirit, and watching there unto with
- 14:11perseverance and supplication for All Saints.
- 14:15So this is the warrior's resource is our prayer life.
- 14:19We need to be praying and making our prayers known to God, making
- 14:23our needs known to God. Friends, we need to be praying
- 14:26in the Spirit in season and out of season.
- 14:30Friends, we need to be praying at all times.
- 14:32Pray without ceasing. Friends, don't worry about
- 14:36anything, but pray about everything, and take captive
- 14:39every thought, and make it obedient unto Christ.
- 14:45Pray for those that are on the battle lines out in the field.
- 14:50Pray for the missionaries, friends of the churches. 19 And
- 14:56for me that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open
- 15:04my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.
- 15:10So here Paul is saying, Pray for me also.
- 15:13Paul was entrusted with the mystery that is made known now
- 15:18that Jesus Christ was well pleased to reveal to Paul on the
- 15:22road to Damascus and in Arabia. And Paul here gives us the
- 15:28Christian walk in the Christian life and what it's all about.
- 15:31And it was entrusted to him. And now he says, Woe to me if I
- 15:34do not preach the gospel. And that is our story as well.
- 15:38It's like fire shut up in our bones that we cannot contain.
- 15:43It must come out. 20 for which I am an ambassador in bonds, that
- 15:52therein I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.
- 15:57He's saying, look at these chains that I'm in.
- 16:01I am an ambassador for Christ. I am the messenger for Christ.
- 16:07And these chains denote that special selection.
- 16:15And it is not chains of shame, friends, these were these were
- 16:21chains of glory, and he wore them, and he wore him to show
- 16:28the world that God had chosen him to reveal the mystery to the
- 16:33church. 21 But that you also may know my affairs and how I do,
- 16:46Tykus, A beloved brother, faithful minister in the Lord,
- 16:53shall make known to you all things.
- 16:57So Paul here makes it a little personal, and he's sending old
- 17:00Ticacus to bring the letter to them, and he's saying he will
- 17:05make it known to you. Anything that I've missed out
- 17:08on, he'll make it known to you. 22 whom I have sent to you for
- 17:14the same purpose, that you might know our affairs, and that he
- 17:18might comfort your hearts. Think of someone who was
- 17:21attached to Paul coming and any questions they might have had of
- 17:26how's he doing, what is his life like and all the things that
- 17:31they might want to know old Tychus could tell them about. 23
- 17:36Peace be to the brothers in love with faith from God the Father
- 17:43and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all them that love
- 17:49our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity, Amen.
- 17:55So this is what we get when we come to the Lord.
- 17:57We get peace, we get love. He gives us faith, He gives us
- 18:04grace when we come to Him in sincerity.
- 18:09And it's a beautiful ride and it's a beautiful life if you'll
- 18:12let it be. We don't have to live in
- 18:16bondage. We don't have to live in
- 18:19shackles and chains that we wrap around ourselves.
- 18:22We can be free because whom the sun sets free is free indeed.
- 18:27And there's no prison that can hold us in.
- 18:30Friends, we have the same resurrection power living inside
- 18:36of us, and we need not be afraid.
- 18:39We need not be discouraged in the hour.
- 18:43We need to be clothed in his righteousness and his purity and
- 18:47innocence. And he tells us, I send you out
- 18:51like sheep among wolves. Be as innocent as doves and as
- 18:55shrewd as snakes. We need to be more shrewd than
- 19:00the children of this world. Friends, let the children of
- 19:04light shine in this hour. I pray that you've been blessed
- 19:08by this book and by this chapter.
- 19:10I know I sure have. I'm praying for you.
- 19:22I love you. We'll see you back here
- 19:29tomorrow. God bless you.
